In short, it's an AU in which Danny survives his encounter with The Stranger and goes to work at the institute instead of Tim! Tim is still alive, Danny has NO formal qualifications to be working at the institute, and Tim is So Stressed because he lied on his applications. Danny takes on Tim's role in the institute, while Tim gets increasingly worried for his safety <3 That part does not get easier when he actually moves down to the archives <3
and now because i was thinkin real hard about it and got bored of just typing roughly the same synopsis over and over again, HAVE SOME DOODLES TOO <3 three things i've already written and one i Really Want To Write So Badly But It's So Far Away <3
[ID: Four drawings on a soft lavender background featuring Magnus Archives characters. The first is a drawing of Danny Stoker after falling down a ladder leading up to an attic. He is dressed in academic clothing and is on his back, with his lower body still partially on the ladder. One foot is on a rung and the other is sticking out in the air. He looks to be in pain and he has swirls for eyes and little bees are flying around his head. Next to him are Jon, also dressed academically and holding Danny's coat, and an old woman wearing a black dress and a shawl. She looks at Danny with concern and Jon is startled by Danny's fall, visibly jolted.
The second drawing shows Danny and Sasha, both dressed academically, sitting at her desk looking at a computer screen. Danny is slouching with a horrified expression, while Sasha smiles, looking chipper. The computer is labelled "the horrors".
The third drawing shows Danny and Elias sitting across from each other at Elias' desk. They are both wearing black suits with ties and both have slicked back hair. Elias is smiling politely at Danny with his hands folded on the table, and Danny is smiling confidently back at him with his hands folded in his lap. Over the drawing is multiple faded drawings of Danny in different forms of panic. One has him sweating and screaming "I'm Doomed" with his hands in his hair, another has him looking oddly calm and posed like a corpse with a bouquet of flowers over his chest saying "This is the day I die", and the last one has him bent in half, laying face down in a puddle of tears, clawing at the floor, with his feet out in front on either side of him. "Crying noises" is written above him.
The last drawing is of Tim and Elias. Tim is gripping Elias by the lapels, yelling in his face with a furious and challenging expression, while Elias is sweating nervously and holding his hands up defensively, looking confused and afraid. His glasses are broken and bent and one of his eyes is swollen half-shut. end ID]

the first two drawings are from danny's first field work outings with jon and sasha respectively, the third is from his first interview with elias, and the last is a scene i haven't written yet that takes place directly after the prentiss incident, in which tim confronts elias for putting his employees (read: danny) in danger and then punching him in the face <3
i really wanted to draw tim super mad because i never draw those kinds of expressions and i think he deserves to punch elias in the face <3 i don't think he'd be Quite like that in the written scene itself but it was v fun to draw
My anger is like carbon monoxide. It’s odorless, tasteless, colorless, and completely toxic. But only to me. See, I don’t take my anger out on anyone other than my fucking self.
a fever u can't sweat out. many discount her bc brendon urie is involved but it's so good. like it has to be said. can u believe teenagers did this i genuinely can't
I don't think I've ever seen Carbon Monoxide poisoning in whump...
I mean, there's just so much potential!
Characters falling ill with some mysterious sickness, everyone in the house having similar, if not the same symptoms.
Maybe it's just dizziness, fatigue, headaches, muscle aches, and nausea. All things that are inconvenient, and after a certain point, become worrisome and quite concerning but not life threatening and some might just brush off. Maybe if they live alone they think they're over-dramatic or that their age or past experiences are finally getting to them. If they have roommates, maybe they chock it up to food poisoning or seasonal allergies being extra bad or maybe it's all the studying, work, and/or parties. Some could even think it's a virus of some kind.
But it continues to get worse. With things like seizures, hallucinations, and disorientation making a character who lives alone think they're going completely insane or maybe they finally go to the hospital because y'know. Seizures. If they're roommates, then wow, that's some bad food poisoning. Or they've been having some awful trips lately.
Anyway, eventually if nothings done about it, it can leave a character or two comatose or even eventually dead.
Just seems quite whumpy and with a ton of potential. Whether it's a sickfic, environmental whump, etc.
Not to mention; what about a recovering whumpee? What or who are they hallucinating? This sure would make physical and mental recovery a hell of a lot harder. Especially when the caretaker is extremely ill and experiencing similar symptoms as the whumpee.
Would be a shame if this happened to your poor recovering blorbos :(
DL-6 changes for the AU
aka: the Everybody Lives Except Yanni Yogi AU
this is a bunch of rough ideas/notes on how DL-6 plays out where both greg and miles live (and yogi is killed bc someone has to die here, sorry polly)
the lack of air is caused by a carbon monoxide leak into the elevator shaft (probably from a faulty emergency generator that switched on after the earthquake)
everything else plays out the same, except for when miles throws the gun
the gun hits the floor and fires, the path of the bullet tears open yogis throat and kills him
blood Everywhere
(further notes after cut, contains illustrated gore)
path of bullet continues through elevator door, hits mvk's shoulder
doors open, mvk picks up the gun to shoot greg
tyrell enters hallway after hearing the first gunshot, sees mvk holding a bloodied gun, facing a pool of blood from the elevator
tells him to drop the gun (he doesnt)
mvk is shot (non-fatally) by tyrell, who (reasonably) assumes he was the one who just fired the first gunshot
mvk's aim is knocked off but he still manages to fire the gun, it goes through the elevator wall near greg
mvk is arrested
...
.......
✨Corruption!!!✨
mvk somehow ends up as the prosecution for DL-6
i mean he didn't really actually kill anyone here he just got extremely close, it was probably inconclusive evidence
greg is in hospital but is charged as suspect for the murder of yogi
he wasn't shot, but being nearly strangled to death breaks a bone in his neck (hyoid bone) + recovering from severe CO poisoning
miles is also being treated for CO poisoning
ray ends up defending greg in court
worst debut trial ever
he manages to disprove greg murdered yogi, but then evidence starts pointing towards the fact that it was miles
dundunduuuuun
...and that's all the notes me and my friends came up with for the DL-6 part of the au so far
thank you for reading!!!!
I live in a college dorm girl there’s no kitchens or heaters and the fire alarm in my dorm is so sensitive that if someone showers too hot it goes off. There’s nowhere carbon monoxide could come from where I live
The Beasts feel very Old Testament in the sense that they're both awesome and awful. The civilian collateral damage from their battles must be immense. Do villagers fear the dragons or their saviors more, despite the later being viewed as saints?
the extent of religiosity in the lives of the laity shouldn't be underestimated, and this is an era where god is to be feared. they feel protected by the ferocity of the beasts.. where crops are trampled or livestock killed in the crossfire, they might even feel blessed
a dragon descends on a town when those within the town have been acting in sin, attracted by the evil aura of the place. the battle is seen as a way of saving the laity not just from certain destruction, but also from themselves. they are purified in the process, and the property damage (if any) is a part of that process
but this is all pretty contingent on the church offering compensation for damages - if you lose a field or house, it will be rebuilt and reseeded by the village's own monastery. after all, the productive labour of every single man woman and child in the empire is required to feed and supply the stables
I have to say. Out of all the ways I was speculating that Nancy Drew: Ghost of Thornton Hall would end, I can’t say I even remotely expected “Nancy gets carbon monoxide poisoning” to be it.
Now I'm not saying carbon monoxide attracts ghosts, but if telling your loved ones it does is what it takes for them to call the HVAC guy or buy a CO2 detector, then so be it.
