Here's to cephaconscious systems!
Usually, systems fall under monoconscious (having one collective consciousness), or polyconscious (each headmate having their own consciousness). However, this isn't always the case!
Cephaconscious is defined as a system that has "fluid, monoconscious-like switching, but members of the system who are not in front have their own, separate consciousness in headspace/are polyconscious in headspace" [via Pluralpedia].
Shoutout to cephaconscious systems who:
Have a hard time telling who's fronting due to the way they switch
Blur more frequently than other systems
Have difficulties accessing headspace, or needing lots of effort to go to the innerworld
Feel like they "become" the person they're switching with
And any other cephaconscious experience I may have missed!
Having an uncommon consciousness type is super cool! You're so, so loved and unique! The plural community supports you, always!
Don't forget to be yourself today!

Cephaconscious flag: symbol | no symbol
Definition:
A system (or sisasystem) that has fluid, monoconscious-like switching, but members of the system who are not in front have their own, separate consciousness in headspace/ are polyconscious in headspace.
Experiences a cephaconscious system may have:
- having one distinct consciousness for fronting, that whoever is in front “steps into”, while system members who are not currently fronting have their own consciousness separate from the body
- switching feels like “becoming” someone else, as described in monoconscious systems
- in the headspace, each system member feels as though they have a distinct, separate consciousness of their own
- system members are polyconscious in the headspace (when not fronting)
- accessing the headspace from the front can be difficult without an excessive amount of concentration
The flag is meant to represent a mix of the monoconscious and polyconscious flags by using both blue and red which are used in the mono-/polyconscious flags respectively.
The blue stripes represent the “fluid-like” switching like in monoconscious system and the red stripes represent the experience of system members being polyconscious when not in front. The white and the gray stripe represent becoming one with the consciousness of the front when switching.
The term “cephaconscious” stems from the word cephalopod. Cepholopods represent the idea of having one fronting-consciousness (represented by the head) and being polyconscious in headspace (represented by the tentacles).
The term, the meaning and the flag of cephaconsciousness were all coined by us, The Wilderness. This term can be added to plurality wikis.
[Image ID: Two images of the flags for Cephaconsciousness.
The background is made up of 8 horizontal stripes.
The first three stripes form a gradient from deep blue to light blue.
Then, there is a light gray and a very light gray stripe.
The last three stripes form a gradient from pastel red to dark purple.
The foreground of the first flag contains a purple silhouette of a cephalopod with 10 tentacles.
The silhouette has a vertical line of symmetry and is at the center of the flag.
The outermost tentacles curve up to the same height as the head of the cephalopod.

How switches work for us + other weird system things
I made a diagram to help explain.
Tumblr media
Basically, there's one main consciousness that controls fronting. It can be occupied by any of us, and sometimes more than one at a time. Rowan rarely leaves this part of the brain, letting people control it next to them instead. The metaphorical "core part" we refer to (sort of jokingly) as "the brain" resides just above this space. When someone is co-con it's easier to hear them and they often influence the fronter in certain ways, like voice changes or jokes. The current front may see them nearby in the headspace. But they can't control the body.
A headmate switching into the front can be a lot of different experiences for us. The main consciousness taking on a different identity is how we usually describe it, and a good visualization is the new fronter coming up behind the current one and swapping bodies with them. Sometimes there's blending, sometimes there isn't.
In the backspace/inner headspace we just kind of, exist. Anyone can interact with the front from here, but not with each other unless both are co-con, as far as we know. Nobody can remember being in the headspace when they front so far.
We don't have a stable member count, and I've explained this by describing our process of forming headmates as "A thick, bubbling liquid, where new bubbles form and may stay a while or pop/reintegrate with the mass. Sometimes the bubbles are fully removed from the liquid but even those may float back into it at some point. Bubbles that disappeared might return someday, but it's impossible to know."

MUTOCONSCIOUS
Mutoconscious refers to a system that when members are fronting they are exclusively monoconscious but when in headspace and not fronting members are hydraconscious . experiences of a mutoconscious system may include:
having one distinct consciousness for fronting, that whoever is in front “steps into”
switching feels like “becoming” someone else, as described in monoconscious systems.
in the headspace and not fronting, each system member has both a seprate consciousness and the shared one.
While fronting accessing headspace may be more difficult since it has a differnt form of consciousness
This term is similar to and was inspired by Cephaconscious but rather than being only polyconscious in headspace you are hydraconscious

P-DID Cephaconscious Culture Is constantly wondering if you are actually disordered, because so many examples of "being disordered" involve switching, but then suddenly getting an unknown headmate fronting who you end up going monoconscious with and them immediately getting so frustrated with everything and picking so many fights you have to mute yourself cause you just can't get them out of front cause you cannot figure out where they stop and you begin.
I dont think we've ever gotten scared about how our system functions before. Frustrated and maybe even helpless? Ya. Genuinely scared? Not until this. And I can already feel us putting up walls to avoid this again, despite us having worled so hard to let others come to front. Not gonna question our disorderedness for a bit at least.
(Cephaconscious is simple terms is more polyconscious the further from front you are, and ore monoconscious the close to front you are. For us we can front with a shared but still seperate consciousness, however someone can blend with me and we become fully monoconscious while they're in front. This is the first time it's ever been that bad)
~🐺 of 🔷️/🌟 (previously 🐺 of 🔷️ co., we found a sisasystem since last ask lol)

coined some new terms because we noticed a gap
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, you may have heard of cephaconscious and mutoconscious. These new terms are equivalents of those.
Introducing:
Split Monoconscious: a system or sisasystem that is monoconscious in both front and headspace, but the streams of consciousness between front and headspace are separated
Split Polyconscious: a system or sisasystem that is polyconscious in both front and headspace, but the streams of consciousness between front and headspace are separated
Split Hydraconscious: a system or sisasystem that is hydraconscious in both front and headspace, but the streams of consciousness between front and headspace are separated
Split Misaconscious: a system or sisasystem that is misaconscious in both front and headspace, but the streams of consciousness between front and headspace are separated
The flags are Split Monoconscious (with the monoconscious symbol), Split Monoconscious (no symbol), Split Polyconscious (with the polyconscious symbol), Split Polyconscious (no symbol), Split Hydraconscious (with the hydraconscious symbol), Split Hydraconscious (no symbol), Split Misaconscious (with the misa conscious symbol), and Split Misaconscious (no symbol).
These flags were heavily inspired by their namesakes. Credits for the original flags go to their coiners.
You don’t need credit to use these terms by themselves, but we would like credit for the flags and in any wiki entries. Thank you for your understanding.
Alternate names and flags are welcome.

You awaken laying on your back, opening your eyes to a vast, faintly purple-tinted starry sky. You sit up and find yourself on a large floating island, many smaller islands with unique landscapes and features surrounding it.
Welcome to STAR SPACE.

Greetings! We are the Skyedancer System/STAR SPACE System, and welcome to our plurality side blog!
We are a mixed origin (trauma-endo), cephaconscious, gateway system entirely of fictional nonhumans and alterhumans (as far as we know, all of us of are fictives, fictionkin, and/or otherkin). We also have two subsystems.
We are collectively draconic, and all experience this in varying degrees. If you want to know more about our alterhuman experiences, our blog for that is @goopy-nightmares.
Collectively we use they/them and drei/drem pronouns, and say that we are aroace-spec, non-binary, and xenogender.
Our main/art blog is @skyedancer2006, if you are interested in that stuff!
Certain groups within the system also have their own blogs! @absolutesolver-system is for everyone from Murder Drones, and @areazerosystem is everyone from the Pokémon franchise!

i think we're cephaconscious and polythought with some memory sharing & emotion sharing? thought sharing only really happens when we're co-fronting... it's cool to have these terms, helps understanding.

having any amount of monoconsciousness is such a wild ride
we're cephaconscious due to having a shell and even though I've known about our plurality for fucking years I am only just now getting a grip on it
it's neat to look in tye mirror and recognize just how differently we each see the body
it's whacky as shit and can be disorienting as well if I'm not in the right headspace, but like wow. What a fuckin wonderfully odd connection we get to have.

I believe we are a hydraconscious cephaconscious system, although I can't be entirely sure.
I feel like it'd explain a lot, at least.

Note
Can you do a post for Cephaconscious Systems? We recently discovered that term, and it fits us perfectly, but it's extremely unknown so there's never any talk about it.
And then maybe a second post for P-DID, and other forms of disordered plurality that isnt the main DID & OSDD? We are constantly getting left out of conversations.
Third and Final thing is your blog is so awesome, we really appreciate its existence, and find it very helpful!

Posted the first one, haven't had a chance to do the other one yet!
And thank you!!! I'm glad you& are enjoying it :3 I try my best haha

I’m just going to post this here since we’re kinda desperate for advice rn and don’t know where else to ask. (I posted the following in a discord server earlier so it might be worded a bit strangely)
Hi, so we want to try to make our communication between system members better (specifically between fronting and not fronting headmates) but we don’t really know how. Obviously we practise talking to each other by, well, talking to eachother. But that doesn’t seem to help to get better.
So does anyone know how to do this? Or are there specific ways of talking to each other that could help? Just any advice is appreciated.
Here’s how our communication is atm:
We can communicate but we only hear the person we’re talking to really quietly, and it’s often hard to understand them. When talking to several people at a time (which is hard), we can barely differentiate between voices (if at all). Headmates who are not fronting also have a hard time forming long sentences and it feels like there’s a barrier between the fronter and the headmate the fronter is talking to that gets stronger when we’re not talking right at the moment. So it’s easiest for the not-fronting headmate to reply right after the fronter said something, but if the not fronting headmate waits they can’t reply because the barrier is too strong. At least that’s what it feels like. It also takes a lot of energy, especially when talking to several different headmates in a relatively short time.
If that’s relevant, we’re cephaconscious, and we have headspace amnesia (meaning for us, that we can’t remember headspace at all when we’re fronting)
So yeah, any advice on how to get clearer communication is appreciated
(Also, if anyone knows how to get rid of headspace amnesia, please tell us /nf)

Headspace Ramblings
Rowan here! I wanted to talk about our headspace a bit. Since we have some form of inner world amnesia, I only know what the front room looks like. When I try to leave and stay conscious, the brain pulls me back into the front because no one in the body = bad. But I know it's a huge treehouse. From what I can tell everyone has their own room, inside the trunk of the tree, and the frontspace is on this balcony. I look out over the outer world from here, and I can visualize this part. We even have a bench for co-con. At the back of the room there's a "door" of sorts, and behind that is a staircase, but that's as far back as I can see.
But I'd really like to work on being able to see it. If anyone knows how to accomplish this, I'd really appreciate hearing about it!

Note
If youre open to requests, could you coin a plural term in line with mutoconscious/cephaconscious but for those who have polyconscious fronting and a hydraconscious headspace? (and if youre up for it, polyconscious fronting/monoconscious headspace? if not that's totally fine!)
Currently am focusing on reposting old terms I still need to do so I'll have to pass on this one. I also think I may have seen a term for the first thing you requested but I'm not sure.
If anyone else wants to take this request feel free to do so.
