It was Halloween night, and you were home alone. The tv was on, playing some random scary movie. You had music also playing in the background. 

Trick-or-treaters would be constantly ringing the doorbell. At first, you thought about simply leaving the bowl of candy by the doorstep, but you loved seeing all the costumes the kids and teenagers were wearing. 

You were wearing a costume, yourself. A simple angel. Nothing too flashy since you were simply handing out candy. Just a halo and wings in a white t-shirt and white shorts. You wore your more “suggestive” costume at last weekend’s Halloween party a friend threw. 

While making your way to the kitchen to make yourself some popcorn, you heard your cell phone ring. It was a number you’ve never seen before, but it had your area code, so you decided to pick it up. 

“Hello?”

“Hello?” A voice on the other end responded. 

“Yes?” You replied back. 

“Who is this?”

“Who are you trying to reach?” You asked, slightly confused.

“What number is this?”

“What number are you trying to reach?” Honestly. Dude dialed the number, right?

“I don’t know.” Ugh.

“Well, I think you have the wrong number. It happens. Take it easy,” and with that, you ended the call and began to head back to the microwave to check on the popcorn before your phone rang again. 

Reaching back over for it, you checked the caller ID. It was the same number. Should you pick it up? At first, you thought about letting it ring but, eh, whatever. You answered it. 

“Hello?”

“I’m sorry. I guess I dialed the wrong number,” the same guy on the other end responded.

“So why did you dial it again?” You asked. 

“To apologize,” he replied.

“Well, you’re forgiven. Bye, now.”

“Wait! wait. Don’t hang up. I want to talk to you for a sec.” 

“Why?” Okay, this was getting a little weird. You really should just hang up. 

“Just want to know a little more about you. How about telling me your name?” He asked. “I’ll tell you my name if you tell me yours.”

“Yeah, I don’t think so,” you rolled your eyes, shaking your head. 

“Well, do you have a boyfriend?” He changed the subject. 

“Why? Do you want to ask me out on a date?”

“Maybe? Do you have a boyfriend?”

“No,” as if you were going to give this guy a truthful response. Plus, you did have a boyfriend, so you wouldn’t have accepted either way. 

“You never told me your name.” There he goes again, asking for your name. 

You were now walking around your house, organizing some things as you entertained this weirdo.

“Why do you want to know my name?” No really. Why?

“Because I want to know who I’m looking at.”

What?

You suddenly stopped, feeling your heart drop.

“What did you say?” Your voice now grew quiet. 

“I want to know who I’m talking to.”

“That’s not what you said,” you pointed out as you began making your way around the house, turning more lights on, as well as the lights from your back porch. You really should hang up and call the police if this guy was stalking you from somewhere. 

“Then what did you think I said?” He asked. You could feel your heart pounding in your chest. 

“What do you want?” You knew if you hung up now, he would just call back. So, you made another round around the house to make sure everything was closed and locked. 

“I just want to know your name.” 

“You don’t need to know my name. Now what do you want from me?” You questioned.

“I just wanted to talk. Maybe go out together on a date.”

Now you were peaking through the curtains, making sure no one was actually outside. Which was futile since there were still a lot of people out trick-or-treating. Maybe he was just messing around. But, you wanted to be sure.

“Can you see me?” He suddenly asked. 

How did he know you were looking for him? “Listen, I am two seconds away from calling the police.” Your voice was now shaky, as well as your body. 

“They’d never make it in time. It’s Halloween. Probably think you’re prank calling them or something.”

“What do you want?” You asked, your voice cracking and tears welling over your eyes. 

The line was quiet for a second, then you heard him chuckle. 

“To see what your insides feel like.”

The line disconnected, and there was a sudden flicker of the lights. He was here. He had to be. 

You were checking every single closet and door, your heart beating fast, panicking. Where was he? He had to be somewhere in your house. 

Your cell phone rang again. You didn’t bother to check the number. You knew it was him.

“What do you want?” You asked, your voice shaking as you struggled to hold the phone in your hand. 

No response. 

“This isn’t funny! I’m going to call the police!” You threatened as you pressed your back against the wall, trying to keep your eyes everywhere. 

You heard the man chuckling again at the other end, causing goosebumps to raise the thin hairs on your arms. 

“Aww! Don’t be like that, baby. I’m just having some fun.” You could practically hear him smirking.

“Well, I’m not!” You spat before the lights began to flicker again. 

“Stop it!”

“Alright, alright. You’re being such a party-pooper. Here, I’ll tell you what. I’ll stop messing with you, if you let me fuck you.” 

“Excuse me?!” You gasped, eyes widened. 

“Come on. It’ll be fun. I’ll even keep my mask on,” he cooed. 

“No way!”

“Why not? It’s Halloween. I’m a trick-or-treater. I already did my tricks, now I’m ready for my treat.”

“I-I have a boyfriend!” You then blurted out. 

“You just told me you didn’t.”

“I know that.”

“So that ‘no’’ was a yes? I don’t like that you lied to me like that. Hmm..well, he doesn’t have to know, baby. It’ll be our little secret.”

“No,” you replied. 

“Alright. Fine. We can do this the hard way,” he responded just before the lights went completely dark. The line cut off on the other end, and you were left with silence. 

You covered your mouth and tried to calm down. You had to find something to defend yourself with. Maybe a baseball bat or something. Or you could go back to the kitchen and grab a pan or knife. 

Without removing yourself from the wall, you began to make your way to the kitchen. 

In the dark, you quickly made your way to the drawers and found a knife before proceeding to turn on the flashlight on your phone just as you heard something coming from upstairs. 

“Shit shit shit!” You breathed, gripping onto the knife with one hand and your phone with the other before you slowly began to make your way up the stairs , looking all around you.

You jumped when you heard a door slam behind you, and you slowly turned around to see a dark figure at the end of the hall. 

“Who are you?!” You called out, taking a couple steps back, still gripping the knife tightly. Your legs began to tremble a bit. 

The figure then turned around. A white ghost-like mask covered their face. You could hear a low chuckle coming from them as they began to take a step closer, holding their own, bloody knife in his hand. 

“Get away from me! I’m serious!” You threatened, but he continued to make his way closer to you, so, you dashed into your bedroom, not noticing something on the floor that caused you to trip and fall onto your bed, the knife slipped out of your hand, along with your phone, both landing on the floor with a thump.

Once you managed to push your body up, you glanced over your shoulder and saw the figure standing right behind you, causing you to scream. You tried to scramble back, but he grabbed one of your legs, lifting the knife towards you to strike. 

You quickly reached for a pillow and started hitting him with it. It worked for a second, and he stumbled back. But, it gave you enough time to get out of bed. 

However, your efforts were not sufficient,and he grabbed you, tossing you back onto the bed with a thump before he crawled over you, pinning your hands behind your head and straddling your waist. 

A low chuckle could be heard coming from him before he leaned over and whispered against your ear, “You’re so cute when you’re scared.”

Your heart pounded against your chest, struggling to break free as tears pricked over your eyes. 

“Please, let me go..” you whimpered. 

“Not until I get my treat, sweetheart,” he reminded her as he sat up and began to pull down his pants underneath the black cloak. 

“Aye, mierda, this thing..”he huffed under his breath as he hiked the cloak up above his waist. 

Wait a second. That voice..it sounded familiar. Too familiar. And there was only one person you knew who would curse like that. 

“M-Miguel?”

“Yeah?” He paused, looking down at you through his mask, his persona now forgotten. 

“Are you fucking kidding me?! It was you doing this the whole time?!” You shrieked as you started smacking him, hitting him with all your might. 

“You asshole!”

Miguel simply laughed as he grabbed hold of your hands. 

“Come on, nena! I was just messing with you!” He continued to laugh. “You should’ve seen the look on your face. It was adorable.”

“G-get off of me!” You were pissed at the stunt your boyfriend pulled. 

“But I want my treat,” you just knew that he was pouting under his mask. 

“I’m not giving you anything you big jerk! Now get off and turn my lights back on!” You demanded, shoving him off of you. 

“Fine,” he muttered before fixing himself and got off the bed and headed out of your room. 

You laid in your bed for a moment, trying to relax. You never thought Miguel would do such a thing. He really had you scared shitless. 

Shaking your head and gathering your thoughts, you got up from bed, grabbing the knife you dropped on the floor and began to make your way downstairs just as the lights came back on. 

Miguel was already in the kitchen, mask removed and munching on the popcorn you had made. 

You placed the knife back where it belonged before turning to face Miguel, crossing your arms over your chest. 

Miguel looked over at you after popping some more popcorn into his mouth, giving you a cheeky grin. 

“Heeey..” he reached over to you, pulling you over by the arm. “Don’t be mad. Please. Forgive me?”

He gave you big puppy dog eyes. And for someone as big as him, it was actually adorable. But you were still mad at him. He actually had you fearing for your life. 

“No,” you respond curtly, glaring up at him. Why did he think you would just forgive him so easily?

“How did you even get in here?” You asked as he pulled you into a tight hug.

“You showed me where you keep your spare key, remember?”

“Oh, yeah..” 

“Soo..”he smirked then. “Can I get my treat now?”

“You’re insufferable. Fine! Fine,” you finally agreed with a nod. “But, I swear if you do something like that again, I’m breaking up with you."

Miguel gave you a toothy grin before pulling his mask back down before pulling out his knife from under his cloak. With closer inspection, you realize it was just a fake prop knife with red paint over it. 

“Wait, how did you change your voice?” You suddenly asked. 

Miguel pulled out a little box-like device and held it to his face before speaking to it, his voice sounding completely different. 

“Oh.”

“Now, let’s have some fun, shall we?” Miguel stated before he started chasing you around the kitchen, with you now playing along. 

After you had given the last of the candy out to trick-or-treaters and finished up the popcorn, you and Miguel were upstairs in your room, with you on your knees, sucking him off. 

He was still clad in his costume, having his cloak bunched up around his waist. 

“Oh, fuck, that’s it. Just like that,” he groaned, tilting his head back as you bobbed your head and pumped him in your hand. You couldn’t help but to slip your hand into your panties and finger yourself, letting out moans around his cock.

He began to thrust into your mouth, holding your head still with his hand. You continued to finger yourself.

One of my guiding ideas for this comic is that the story is being written/drawn by Bilbo Baggins, an  “unreliable narrator,” who has a biased way of recounting events. As the comic goes on, parts of the story get retold through new perspectives (or through the eyes of other characters), and you realize the initial version you read was incomplete. 

A lot of you probably noticed that this chapter features a ton of callbacks to the earliest chapters of this comic! We saw child Bilbo and Gandalf's friendship told from Bilbo's POV in Chapter 3.....but in this chapter we see it retold from Gandalf's POV. However, Belladonna Took is our biggest instance of that!   Not to overexplain my own writing, but Chapter 1 is an older Bilbo painting an idealized happily-ever-after fairytale picture of Belladonna, while Chapter 15 features a younger Bilbo telling a far less optimistic version of her life.  While there's truth to both of them, neither of them is the full truth.

In the Fellowship of the Ring, Bilbo tells Frodo that ‘books need to have good endings,' like endings where everyone "lives happily ever after." If I were to continue this comic to the end of the novel, Bilbo’s habit of “rewriting things to be happier" would become a whole Thing. 

Second: Much of this chapter is taken directly from “The Unfinished Tales: The Quest For Erebor.” That story was Tolkien’s attempt to unite the tone of The Hobbit with LOTR, by having Gandalf explain what The Hobbit looked like from *his* perspective. The gay line about Bilbo feeling incapable of settling down into a Traditional Marriage with a Wife And Kids is taken almost directly from the Unfinished Tales. So are all the lines where Gandalf reflects on what Bilbo was like as a child, and the moment where Bilbo reflects that all of his desire for adventure has dwindled to a private dream.

Third: Obviously, the other big influence on this chapter (outside the original novel) was a similar scene in the PJ film. The little bit where Gandalf reveals the lore behind Bullroarer took monologue is the only dialogue I’ve directly lifted from that scene. ;3

Fourth: some of you may have caught that I used a quote describing Frodo’s wanderlust in the Fellowship of the Ring to describe Bilbo. The bit describing "the maps that only show white spaces beyond their borders" is also why I emphasized Bilbo’s canonical nerdiness around  maps in earlier chapters (chapter 5 especially, but also in Chapter 6, Chapter 7, and a blink-and-you-miss-it moment in chapter 14.) 

Fifth: one of my favorite things in the original book are all the scenes where Gandalf does fun Whimsical things with smoke/smoke rings. In the book he usually makes them change color or race around; in my comic he usually makes them turn into butterflies (he also does this in chapters 3 and 11.) you may have noticed that Butterfly Symbolism is a big thing in this comic.  But yeah, in another callback: Gandalf finally had time to blow smoke-rings with Bilbo, which he said he 'had no time for' in Chapter 2!

I misjudge the dialogue a bit. Although I haven't changed anything in the dialogue and the story itself, it's still one page more. I don't want to drag it out any longer, but until everything is drawn with text, then i suddenly have no more space on the page and have to reorganise and that takes up the most time!

I hope it stays with the 3 pages, then there would be a Part 12 and a Part 13 with 2 pages!

Okay, so I've been cataloguing and connecting the succ trailer outfits, and I think I've managed to connect a bunch of scenes into episode 1, Logan's birthday (titled Listen Here, Lady, if the rumours are correct). This is a long post so I'm throwing it below a cut:

Okay. Starting off, we have logan in that blue sweater with the checked shirt. It's shown up before, too - that's what he's wearing in the first teaser when he stares out the window. Let's look at where else he wears it:

He's wearing it in this shot, where he's leaving what appears to be some kind of study. And this is where we can start connecting some outfit dots. Take a look at this Greg outfit:

That's the same outfit Greg is wearing here, just with the jacket done up:

It's also the same outfit Greg is wearing here (which fits, since Tom's outfit looks the same as the one in the above shot where Logan walks away):

So, we know that this study shot is the tail end of a long event - one with several invited guests, including Connor and Willa. Plus - that's the same outfit Nick Braun was wearing in the instagram post he made about the start of s4 filming, and there were set leaks in the first couple days (around the same time) of the cast singing happy birthday to Logan. So, my guess is that all these scenes are from Logan's birthday in episode 1. Additionally, all the other gatherings in the trailer appear to be for other purposes, and the 1% dialogue feels to me like establishing dialogue. (That also means Greg seems to have gained some kind of girlfriend over the break, who disappears as the evening drags on. Interesting.)

Now, some people have suggested this Tom outfit is the same one he wears in the argument with Shiv:

But while it does look similar... I hesitate. Because here's what Shiv's wearing:

But let's circle back to Logan's outfit from this event in a different scene - this convo with Kerry:

Kerry is wearing a blue blazer here - a blue blazer which is the same one she's wearing in this scene of the teaser, where she's on the phone with the Roy siblings:

But while she's on the phone with them, Shiv is not only wearing a completely different outfit from the tomshiv confrontation - she's in a different time zone:

It's late at night where Kerry is, and it's daytime where the siblings are, so it's reasonable to assume that they're in California at this point. That seems to be backed up by this shot, where Shiv appears to be wearing the same brown jacket while getting into a car with a palm tree in the background:

Kerry's outfit here is far more distinctive than Tom's - Tom's worn several white shirt-blue blazer combos before, so I think it's more likely for Tom's outfit to be either a repeat or a very similar outfit than Kerry's. Alternatively, it's possible that the kids are in California, and then fly back, and Shiv changes her outfit. But that makes the timeline of the event a bit screwy, imo.

Oh, but let's take another look at this same Logan outfit, in a scene he shares... with Tom.

You can see the design on Tom's shirt more clearly here, and there are faint stripes which aren't on the shirt he's wearing in the tomshiv confrontation - again, making that seem like something from a different event or episode. (The outfit from that confrontation, though, IS the same one he's wearing when he greets Logan on the tarmac. More on that later.) If I'm right about the context of this event, that means this is, again, and episode one conversation between Tom and Logan. It's also during the day, and there aren't many people around. Did Tom come to Logan's birthday early? Was he invited early? Could togan.... be re- *gunshot*

One last thing. Where does Logan go when he leaves the party? Well, according to the BTS photos... to dinner with Colin:

Based on the booth design and the outfit, this is the scene with Logan's dialogue about being 100 ft tall, ect:

Anyways, let's circle back to the kids. Those outfits are distinct, so we know where else we've seen them:

Unfortunately, this location only shows up in this shot, so this is where the trail goes dead. Except...

Kendall's wearing the same outfit here, in this shot of the theatre. What's going on? Who knows. I have no guess. But - they do seem to be connected.

There are still lots more outfits to catalogue, but this is what I have so far! It's all coming together....

Imagine Druig saving you from a Deviant

They say that when you're about to die, life flashes before your eyes - for a second before the inevitable happens, you reflect on your choices, relive your sorrows and laughter.

Whoever said those words must never have stared death into her vacant, deep eyes. Although, the death that came for you had eyes more akin to fire or a burning sun - orange, filled with vigour and yet terrifyingly vacant, expressionless. As if primal hate could live on its own.

Your throat clenched but you didn't feel scared or sad in any way - those emotions, although had previously flooded all your thoughts, were nowhere to be found any longer. There was a melancholic peace in being subjected to nature's cycles: there was nothing you could do about your fate anymore. Weirdly enough, you were alright with that. At the end of fear, there was oblivion.

You closed your eyes telling yourself that you were prepared for your imminent future. Then you heard a gunshot, a grunt and something spilling. Miraculously, no furious malice bit into you.

Hesitantly, you opened your eyes to see why the gods of death decided to spare you that day. The red-eyed beast was lying on the ground, the fiery violence long gone. Standing over the bizarre greyish-blue body was Druig, with a clearly unnerved expression on his face.

"Are you alright?" he asked in a tense voice.

Druig barely gave you time to respond when he grabbed your face and began looking for any scratches or bruises. His hands caressed every patch of your skin they could reach.

"Hey," you softly called out to him. His worried eyes met your calm ones. In a reassuring manner, you put your hands around his wrists. "I'm okay."

He stared at you for a moment. The distress showing in his eyes was so intense you couldn't be sure he saw anything except for that. In his frenzied mind, you were still in grave danger.

Druig spared no time embracing you in a tight hug. His grip was so strong it felt as if he was afraid someone was going to try to pry you away from him at any moment. Druig's skin always smelled of rain and wood but at the moment there was a faint aroma of gunpowder following him.

"I don't know what I'd do if I lost you," he confessed quietly.

"Really? I know exactly what I'd do."

Druig slightly pulled away to look at your face. He didn't seem to mind your strangely aloof demeanour. It was hard to believe you could have already been dead. Druig furrowed his eyebrows - he didn't know where your thoughts were headed. "What?"

"Find you," you answered with a gentle shrug of shoulders. "Wherever you'd be."

Druig didn't answer. Truthfully, he couldn't find appropriate words to put his feelings into. Whatever he felt, whatever expression could fit the burning in his chest - it was a little too human to have a name in any human language; it was too essential to being alive.

okay so i finished it and it was fun to read overall but i felt like past episode 3 was very rushed and condensed (makes sense since episode 3 finished past the half-way point of the book) and it stopped being as well written (barely any internal dialogue and descriptors), and some moments were mischaracterised heavily (including a lot of the willex) and juke just didn't seem developed at all. also i wish reggie had gotten more pov chapters since he's, y'know, a main character. i'm pretty sure he got, like, 2 :( also a lot of the music scenes lacked emotion but since this is an adaptation of something with music without music i'll let it slide. it was still nice to read either way.

OH yeah sorry i can definitely see how that's confusing to new people LMAO

so, it's a bit of both imo – i've been here since 2020, shortly after book 2 dropped, so my perspective is a lot different than newer fans

so, one of the reasons i censor her name, is because tumblr changed the search functions – used to be, when you looked up something, it was only things that were in that exact word order in a tag – so if you spelled t/w/c wrong in some way, it'd only show up results that were misspelled, if that makes sense

but now, it's like if you look up any word, random posts that mention it anywhere in the post will show up too – and i would rather not open myself up to the m*shka bootlickers bc i just do not have time for that LMFAO

i rarely maintag things these days because i just don't want to be perceived by so much of this fandom, but that's just a me thing

also, in terms of what she did "wrong"... on top of problematic stuff in text, there's a few things i can think of off the top of my head:

encouraging white/washed art by reblogging on to her dev blog while knowingly having the official skintone palette locked behind a paywall (patreon)

when called out for the above, they did vet their pieces i guess – by only reblogging black and white pieces, and art of detectives. then they stopped reblogging art completely

posting a white hand for a morgan instagram edit – and taking hours to delete the harassment in the replies, some of which being actually racist comments with slurs pointed at black people

in a q&a video, referred to m as an "attack dog", which was super insensitive, considering the consistent comparison of m to an animal across all platforms (text, tumblr posts, patreon content)

her treatment of f over the years, both in text and outside of it. her asks were a huge reason that the fandom has an infantilized view of f and they don't even consider them to be a love interest (much less one that gets physically intimate). they see them as a child. this bullet point is a massive one that would take too long to explain. i could probably write an essay on how problematic it is to immediately "other" your singular black character by literally making them an otherworldly alien, but i do not have the time

how she writes nb/trans characters. from what my friends have said who code dive, they get the same dialogue and variants that women do. obviously if you don't code dive or play with nb characters you probably wouldn't notice, but there are a good chunk of people in the fandom who play with nb oc's so... this is something that should be better, but it's not

to add to the above, she said she was getting sensitivity readers but... did they do anything? look at book 3 and tell me if they actually did anything (i have a feeling maybe those sensitivity readers were white queer people)

overall, it's very hard to explain and condense the fuckery my mutuals and i have seen both m*shka do over the years, and what her fans have let slide/incidents they've coddled her up during.

sadly, she doesn't take hard stances on things. she just lets things happen and that just. doesn't bode well if your argument for all these mistakes is "ignorance". if she's getting 10k a month on patreon plus sales (not to mention the fact she's a grown ass woman), then... it's the bare minimum to ask for her to be mindful of her audience and to do better.

Get Ready to Revise and Reorganize

My experiences so far of writing for an actual video game and not just a fake one

What they don’t tell you about coming onto a project and taking over the existing story, is how much work you are going to be doing to get in line with the original idea. And even when you do, there’s always something you ended up missing, meaning you need to go back and fix what you’ve already done. Revision is a constant factor when it comes to writing, and writers know that. And it’s not fun.

By now, I’ve adapted to the story of our game when I came onto the team, and now I’ve expanded on it and made it more of my own work. I mean, we’re pretty much less than 2 months away from launching so it’d be really bad if I didn’t know what I was writing about.

Now since I’m primarily working on the writing of the story and dialogue, I’ve been working with one of our teams’ programmers to get my work into the game, Ken. To do this nicely, I’ve been using a nice little writing program called Ink from Inkle Studios. I can write dialogue, dialogue options, variables, tags, etc… all in there and then send it to him so he can use a Unity plugin to process the Ink files and use them within Unity. There are plenty of other steps in that process, but that’s the gist of it.

Now here’s where the revising comes into play. As the game progresses, so do parts of the story, meaning that I have to go back into all of the dialogue files and make sure they reflect that change if they need to. So if a character dies, then I don’t want a bit of dialogue after their death to be mentioning the dead character walking the streets. Now our game doesn’t have anything like that going on, but that’s the general idea. The revision process is also used a lot to go back through and correct spelling and grammar mistakes, things that I do often enough for me to need to triple check my writing from now on. 

And most recently in my revision process are tags! They basically track who is speaking within Ink using a certain name so that whenever Unity sees those tags, it can update art assets to match it. That way, when Harvey speaks to Ace, Harvey’s sprite looks like it’s talking while Ace looks like he’s listening. Before, we just had neutral art assets so I was using some generic tags for all the characters. But now we have emotions portrayed by the characters, which means that I get to go back into all of my dialogue files soon to update the tags to have those emotions.

Reorganization of dialogue files also comes into play with the revision process. For us, basically every conversation needed to be in an Ink file all on its own instead of all of them being in a single file. This was pretty annoying early on because I had all of my writing in one file. So I spent a good amount of time separating it all out into different files. It’s all good now, but boy was that a mess to deal with.

So for those of you who aren’t writers, just know that this is the kind of stuff your writer friends have to deal with. It’s not fun (most of the time), but it’s part of the job. I got lured in by one of those mobile game ads on Instagram due to the pretty art design. I know, I am weak, haha. Another gacha game on my list as well (Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail...) but an idle type, which I haven't played before, so it's kind of a different experience.

Things I like about it:

The art design, this is the type of look I like in my fantasy games. The characters are unique looking with a variety of different kinds instead of just super skinny women with massive melon breasts (they are there but their body proportions look more realistic). Even the npcs have a nice design to them, everything looks so whimsical.

There is sex appeal but it it isn't so in your face like other gacha games, and at least the clothing looks like clothing and isn't doing that sock boob look. The outfits are different from each other and don't have that clone as well *coughsgenshincoughs*.

We get to change the appearance of the main protagonist! Look at how good my character looks! This is what I crave from Hoyoverse games so much.

Combat seems straight forward and very easy so far, plus receiving upgrades while not playing is a nice change. Also that every character of the same class share their gear, ugh, what a life saver!

I originally played this on my mobile because I wasn't aware of it having a PC version, and although the graphics are gorgeous on PC, the mobile version does a great job at making the graphics not look bland while still performing fine.

There's not too much I dislike about the game, of course you hit those gacha walls with enemies being too strong and having to wait (that battle screenshot is a loss and from my last fight). Because it is an idle game, you do become stronger by waiting it out, so that means waiting a day or 2 to be able to progress.

The story isn't too bad, generic fantasy story that has a Disney feel to it, which I find okay, but the dialogue is what brings it down. I'm not sure if this game had voice directing, but some voices sound great while others sound flat and don't match the mood of the scene. You could always mute the voices, haha, but to people who like games being voiced, you will have a bit of a rough time with this one.

ALL OF THIS MAKES US UNDERSTAND that Félix likes to read, but not only that but he questions things a lot AND IS VERY INTELLIGENT. THIS LATTER IS CONFIRMED IN THE GLOOB WEBSODE.

And if we think about it carefully, the book represents knowledge, which would already tell us a little about him, that he is quite cultured and this aspect may appeal to Marnette quite a bit, she is very smart, so it wouldn't be serious. It's strange that in that area they get along quite a bit, they have that in common, they complement each other quite well, she is an artist completely in the arts and science/letters. Surely the series gives us moments like this fanart from S6 onwards.

Another thing that this is also telling us is that the place where they connect as something more than friends or are friends is the library, in the movie we see that the crush between Adrianette arises in the library, this is no coincidence, remember that the movie drinks from the PV and in the PV the boy was Félix, it seems that the library will be a very important place for Félix and felinette.

Then we see how Marinette spies on him through the books, here it could be a reference to Argos watching and taking care of Marinette from the shadows, because on that path Marinette removes two books of her colors, then immediately she lands on the shopping cart. books, captivated by Adrien's presence.

The cart is used by librarians, it would not be strange for Felix to work in a library being such a lover of reading, or it could be that Mari decides to work in the library whatever it may be, Marinette is going to see the sky when Felix approaches her. It helps by making you connect with him.

We see that when she falls with the cart, a lot of books fall on her, so this is a wake-up call from Felix, and that the series tells us that THE WAY IN WHICH HE WILL PROTECT HER, WILL BE LIKE CHATNOIR BECAUSE FOLLOWING THIS SHE PROTECTS HERSELF WITH A BOOK FROM LE CHATNOIR, the series with this tells you "look, look, chatnoir (Felix) protects Marinette!!! that's why a lot of books fall.

We also have to remember that the drawing of Chatnoir is the drawing that refers to the cafeteria that is next to Marinette's bakery, where he would work, so we confirmed the ladynoir with Chatnoir as Félix.

Then we see how she stops being scared, and we see that he offers to help her, there they connect.

This is basically that the crush between both of them, Felix and Marinette, will occur when he offers to help her, as we say again, he will be salvation in her aid, he will be her support, he will be her assistant, he will be her right hand, the movie itself confirm this:

and that will make her fall in love with him.

We see that he disappears after this, this is a reference to how mysterious and silent Felix is, clearly many times Marinette will be protected by Felix/argos/chatnoir but she won't even know it because he will keep an eye on her hidden, so that she is safe, for For example, when you return home at night alone...

This is piggybacking off my other two Barry one shots with his fictional son Rory. This as NO affiliation with his real life family :)

Perfect

Summary: Barry is determined to get the perfect Tree for Rory's first Christmas

Warnings: Just some cuteness!

"How about this one?"

"Nope!"

"Barry, we've been looking for a good 15 minutes, and I'm afraid Rory will freeze by the time we get a decent tree!"

"Nah, he's perfectly fine! Right, nugget?"

Rory grunted as Barry while you were holding him, making you roll your eyes since your son was not helping your argument. Barry just sighed and kissed your cheek, his cold lips against your cheek gave you a slight shiver while you rearranged Rory on your hip.

"Come on, luv. We're gonna get the best tree for our first Christmas, kay?"

You nodded as he grinned widely, then scooping Rory into his arms and rearranging the massive beanie on his tiny head. Rory huffed at his father, making you laugh as Barry gave him a playful glare.

"No need for you to be a popsicle, Rory. Come help ya da get a good tree," He said to your son, walking away from you with Rory on his hip as he looked at another row of trees. You followed slowly, hands shoved in your pockets and looked at the nice trees Barry was passing by. It amused you how he was taking this rather seriously, making sure to get the perfect tree with no branch or pine needle out of place.

Making sure this Christmas was perfect.

Since Rory came into your life, Barry took his role as a father full on with no hesitation. He loved being a dad, made sure both you and Rory were taken care of. Barry took some time off of acting just to help you out and get his time in with Rory, soaking in every moment and not regretting it once. He already had a few projects lined up for him when he was going to go back, which was when Rory was around 6 months old. Until then, he would take plenty of pictures of his Instagram of Rory to show off to the world.

Yet he hated the paparazzi.

"No, not that one, that tree just looks sad," You heard Barry say to your son as he was examining a smaller tree. Rory babbled wildly in his dad's hold, making Barry smile, "I'm gonna take that as a yes,"

He was never a fan of the paparazzi to begin with, especially back when you two started dating and were out and about. It wasn't that he would go square off with them when they would catch you on a date or out in the park, but he made his distaste for them known in the pictures. You have gotten used to it, being on his arm for his premieres or traveling with him for press tours or even photoshoots.

Yet now all of that changed since you had a son to protect, and Barry was not going to play around when it came to a picture of Rory out in public without either of your consent. There was even one picture that leaked when Rory was merely a month old, you were on a stroll with your son in his pram while Barry was filming Banshee of Inisherin in Ireland. Within an hour of the photo being leaked, Barry was on the phone and was threatening to sue the magazine.

It was safe to say that the Paparazzi steered cleared of your family since then.

Now that you were out at a local Christmas Tree Lot on the first weekend of December, Barry asked the manger of the lot very kindly and with some assurance to have the lot of yourselves, donating a good amount for the lot and to the workers too. It was very kind of him, and although you thought it was a bit much he bought the whole lot's privacy for just you two and your infant baby, you also knew there was no swaying Barry when it came to his family.

"Ey, I think we found it, luv!"

You grinned as you caught up with him and Rory, looking at a 7 foot tree that was nice and wide. You smiled, placing your hand on his shoulder as he peered up at the tree.

"I like it, babe. It's a good tree," You said to him, sneaking in a kiss on his cheek as he looked down at Rory. You did too, seeing your son look at the massive tree with his big blue eyes and a look a wonder etched on his face.

"What do ya think, bub? This good for our house, eh?" Barry asked Rory, whom broke out in a massive toothless grin. He had the smile smile from his father, which made you sneak in a picture of your phone of Barry and Rory both look at the tree that was chosen. It was the perfect picture to use.

You got the tree to be hoisted on top of one of the trucks from the lot, a worker following you back to your house and delivering it for you free of charge. After the tree was finally arranged in the perfect spot in your living room, you had enough time to get the lights on the tree before Rory was out cold in your arms as you were perched on the couch.

Barry got the last of the lights up while you were watching, Barry stood back a bit with his hands on his hips as he examined the tree with a hint of pride on his face.

"It is a lovely tree you got, Barry. It looks good by the window too," You commented, "I'll have to fetch the ornament box tomorrow morning,"

Barry looked back over to see Rory fast asleep in your hold, softly snoring as you had his blanket tucked over him to keep him warm. Chuckling, Barry walked over to sit next to you, wrapping you in with one arm as you both were watching your lit Christmas tree with a moment of peace in your home.

"I wanna make sure he has a great Christmas," Barry explained to you as he looked down at Rory, a look of pride on his face as he tucked in the blanket a bit more over the sleeping baby. You loved how Barry made sure everything was right was Rory, almost switching your roles when you were the one worrying over him when he was born.

"He's already having a great Christmas thanks to you, sweetheart," You explained to him while you pushed his brown hair out of his eyes, "You're a brilliant dad to Rory, and he's lucky to have you making his life perfect,"

Barry just leaned over to kiss you sweetly, Rory nestled between you two as the twinkling lights of your tree illuminating on your faces.

Last movie: Jane Austen Book Club! i love grigg very much despite his stupid name. gonna start alternating between hugh dancy and mads’s movies bc I’ve been doing that accidentally I think lmao. Last three movies I did went like Confessions of a Shopaholic -> Charlie Countryman -> Jane Austen Book Club. but on the other hand I deeply need to watch like four hugh dancy movies as soon as possible for emotional reasons 

Craving: For it to be like a week from now so I’m healed from my wisdom teeth surgery. also to have no work or responsibilities for a month and just be able to write and read hannigram fics aslkdf. 

What are you wearing right now: this is my first time not being in pyjamas since getting the aforementioned wisdom teeth out lmfao. black pants and dark blue t-shirt

How tall are you: 5’3 </3

Piercings: love the aesthetic yet terrified of getting it done and also them catching on things. I got these clip-on gothic glow-in-the-dark dragon earrings a bit ago from a targeted instagram ad (my first and last time ever doing so) because I have zero impulse control, and they broke immediately. 

Tattoos: none, but have been microwave-spinning the concept of getting a hannibal tattoo since I watched. the heart from primavera would be so cool

Glasses? Contacts?: Glasses, my eyesight is deeply blurry without them

Last drink: classic water, big big fan of the stuff. reminds me of nbc hannibal because because there was water in the show a lot

Last show: watched two episodes of The Last of Us at like 5am yesterday, it was great. also perpetually rewatching hannibal by getting everyone I know to watch, and then watching with them

Last thing you ate: soft tofu in broth. there are, not a lot of vegan post-wisdom-tooth food options (also I’m very picky lmao), so I’ve been rotating between that, vegan ice cream, mashed potatoes, and vegetable smoothie for like 3 days. 

Favorite color: ohhh this is painful, is it a cop-out to say all of them? Big big fan of purple, orange with purple, green, and blue. 

Current obsession: it’s been hannibal and nothing else for 9 months now, and im going strong

Unrelated obsession: not sure if this counts exactly but there’s a writing app where you set a timer and start typing, and if you stop typing for longer than 5 seconds it deletes everything, and it’s so cool. I’ve been calling it stream-of-consciousness writing in my head for like a year bc it’s like a personal stream-of-consciousness even though ik that is not how to use that term alksfhd. I do 3 or 5 minute sprints and store them in one document, then have a second document where I edit and refine, and for a few I’ve put them side to side and colour-coded all my changes and it’s so fun

Any pets: two cats! Miles, my grey one, is extremely sweet, and possibly too smart for his own good. My other one Chico has a very adorable snaggle-tooth, and is incredibly stupid <3. he’s very bad at knowing what direction he’s going or recognizing any parts of the world around him and I love him very much.

Do you have a crush on anyone?: only in that vague abstract way, almost without direction, catching little wisps of the concept of the feeling from scattered bits of interactions with the world around me

Favorite fictional character: im absolutely refusing to choose between hannibal and will so im listening them both and you can’t stop me

The last place you traveled: i’ve literally gone nowhere since the pandemic started </3. i’m in Canada and the furthest I’ve been is just one city to another in the same province like 1.5 hours away. Hopefully going to Italy in the summer though!!

Intro Post

(Every few days I remember something I forgot or have new links to add lol it's constantly changing a little bit)

So I go by Lyra (or Library lol) and I use she/her pronouns. That's all I can think of to put here lol.

I'm a reader and a writer. I love romantic fantasy in both, but I'll read almost anything. Not really into horror, but I've dabbled in most other genres when it comes to reading, all the way to non-fiction. I'm always accepting new recs even though I have a ridiculous tbr and wishlist lol.

Always happy to talk about books with anyone, but be wary of that once you get me started I won't ever stop annoying you about it lol.

I have ADHD (if you couldn't tell from my overuse of parenthesis and brackets [every thought comes with a bonus thought and sometimes an extra bonus thought like this!]). I'm a Christian with more progressive theology, but this blog is a safe place for everyone as long as we're all loving to each other and respect each other's beliefs and identities (and I love having good faith dialogue [not debates!! 0 interest in theological debates.], I love hearing other perspectives and getting to talk about it, so feel free to dm me about that, too). I'm an ISFJ and a 9w1, and I don't know that much about it yet but I love typology. I also love video games, mostly Stardew Valley and the sims right now (thinking about making a secondary blog for that).

I post fandom stuff and writing things for my wips. You'll probably get lots of stuff for my wip Idk, Dragons ocs once NaNo starts. And just random stuff for whatever I'm hyperfixating on in the moment lol. I'm totally open to asks about anything involving my wips or fandom-related asks. Ara Fell: Enhanced Edition - the BEST story I have experienced this year!

Game: Ara Fell: Enhanced Edition First Time/Replaying: First Time Game Time: 24 hours Console: Nintendo Switch Started: September 1, 2023 Finished: September 19, 2023

I finished Ara Fell: Enhanced Edition yesterday. When I tell you it is the best story I have experienced this year in a video game, I'm not even exaggerating. And that's coming from someone who has finished a lot of good games this year!

Ara Fell is 2016 indie RPG, later released as the Enhanced Edition in 2020. Hardly anyone in my Instagram community has heard of it, heck I hadn't even heard of it - I just got lucky and came across it while browsing the Steam store. I remember looking it up on the Nintendo eShop too and being excited to find it there! (I played it on Switch.)

Story:

In the game, you play as and control a spunky 16-year-old human named Lita. She's skilled with a bow and arrow and has a close friend named Adrian. Together they come across an artifact that changes their lives forever.

3 party members join you in the epic quest to save the world, a floating continent called Ara Fell, from vampires. You are guided by elves and complete quests that boost your party's strength.

Along the way you learn SO MUCH about the history of Ara Fell and ALL THE CHARACTERS, including the rivalry between the elves and vampires.

The story is a SOLID epic fantasy, with intriguing backstories, so much interaction between the characters, funny dialogue, and of course the cozy pixel art, relaxing nature sounds, and beautiful music come together to make Ara Fell a very special JRPG game.

Gameplay:

I played on "Story Mode", which made for a very fun and enjoyable gaming experience.

• Battles are turn-based. You can avoid battles by avoiding the enemies on screen. (Which is easy to do.)

• Story Mode has a "Story Mode" option in-battle which is handy for leveling up because it saves you a lot of time when grinding for levels. Using this will KO your enemies in one shot. I don't recommend using this for bosses because the whole point of fighting a boss (in my opinion) is the struggle of finding the strategies to defeat them yourself, but it's a handy for grinding levels with enemies you're already beating over & over.

• I think this is just in Story Mode: your HP and MP automatically replenish after each battle. During the battles, your HP and MP will gradually restore too after each attack you make. It's very useful.

• There are "limit breaks" in this game - there is one long gauge at the bottom of the screen and when it fills to a certain point, only one of your characters (depending on the point that the gauge is filled) at can use their limit break, so will need to strategize which character's skill is most useful at the time.

• There is a Crafting feature in the game. You can craft items (healing potions, revival potions, etc.) as well as weapons and armor. You also upgrade your weapons/armor through crafting. All of the crafting supplies that you need can be found for FREE around the world, they are glimmering/shimmering. You can also buy crafting supplies from various shops.

• You can also upgrade your abilities using... well, they're like crystal balls. I can't remember their name lol. But you will find a bunch and you use them to upgrade your abilities.

One thing I didn't like...

I have ONE negative, and that is the walking controls. I am very used to using the joysticks to walk and control my character, but for some reason this game essentially requires you to use the 4-directional buttons. You can definitely tell that Lita is walking on a grid in up/down/left/right movements and is unable to walk diagonally. It's a bit weird, a little wonky and awkward, but I think it's a bump worth getting over because everything else is wonderful!

Finishing Stats:

Without a doubt the hardest boss for me was Maranda. I think I tried fighting her like 20x until I finally beat her. Final boss was a lot easier compared to her!

Overall, I loved this game! I was always excited to start up the Switch to play more. I enjoyed getting to know all of the characters and learn more about Ara Fell's past. I think the ending is perfect. Everything really comes full circle. I already said it, but it's solid storytelling. Highly recommend!

I always want to remind myself and others that no matter what , there will always be a light at the end of the tunnel. Reflecting on the Past with Megamind

My favorite movie growing up was Megamind. This movie released when I was six and acts as an animated superhero film from the perspective of the villain after finally succeeding. What interested me the most about the film was the natural character arc the main character Megamind follows after realizing he never wanted to be the villain. Him trying and failing to be good created both a ton of comedic and emotional moments. It was also interesting seeing the facades slip from the two characters who were meant to be the heroes, as they reveal themselves to not be who everyone thought they were. Reviews at the time of the film's release in 2010 were generally positive. For example, Roger Ebert stated in his review, “‘Megamind’ is an amusing family entertainment and gains some energy from clever dialogue” (https://www.rogerebert.com/reviews/megamind-2010) and Jim Schembri said, “A full-bodied, busy-as-heck, funny-as-heck comedy adventure from Dreamworks that merrily riffs -- in its own fractured way -- on the Superman legend” (https://www.theage.com.au/entertainment/movies/megamind-20101208-18p2r.html).

Alongside the film, several historic releases happened in 2010. On April 3rd of 2010 the very first IPad was released. I remember my family owning one but I personally did not use it much since I preferred playing games on my DS at the time. I think the IPad’s release was very important, but at the time I never really paid attention to it. In addition to the IPad, Instagram was also first released in 2010 on October 6th. I never used Instagram until around 2019, and while I still don’t use it much, its release was very important as it is one of the most popular social media apps.

When rewatching Megamind, it was still quite similar to how I personally remembered it. I have seen it a large number of times over the years alongside videos talking about the film so that is to be expected. I did find the main villain of the film, Titan, a bit funnier than I had remembered this time. I think that change, even if small, does show something important about history, that our views on it can change. Despite the film being the same, I enjoyed a certain aspect of it more on this rewatch. That can be for a number of reasons, such as jokes going over my head when I was younger or me forgetting them so they hit harder. In the same sense, history can’t change, but our views and opinions can change over time as we grow older. For example, when I was 6 I didn’t care about IPads or Instagram at all, but as I’ve grown up I’ve gradually begun to shift my view on them and appreciate their creation more. Memories are often tied to our emotions and opinions, which is partly how they can be different from what actually happened in the past.
