All dogs go to heaven (part 1)
__________________________________________________
part two
decided to suck it up and post my jjk brainrot as a way to get back into the groove of things for ao3
you work like a dog for your clan, pushing yourself time and time again for people who don’t give a shit about you. so when disaster strikes and you're shipped off to jujitsu tech (and left achingly, all-encompassingly alone) you somehow end up trying to actually connect with the people around you. and not let your plans slip, of course.
═══════════════════════════════════════════ ✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ✦ . ⁺ ︶⊹︶︶୨୧︶︶⊹︶︶⊹︶︶୨୧︶︶⊹︶︶⊹︶︶୨୧︶︶⊹︶︶⊹︶︶୨୧
"You're the one who asked me too..." You murmur under your breath, phone pressed against your ear and frown plastered against your face. There isn't a day that goes by when you aren't frowning for some reason or the other, though you try to keep a relaxed persona around your classmates. It was not going well at all, because you were a bad actor-- but you were also under strict orders to at least try to play your part.
If only your part wasn't so painfully close to home.
There were three things you really hated in this world, including; being micromanaged, sorcerers, and your dad, all in that order. The lovely people of your clan just happened to include everything on that list, and managed to put you in a situation worse than the one you came from. See, you hated Jujitsu Tech, just as much as you hated being a widow. Or sorry- a widow in training, working under Ijichi-Sensei.
It made you feel bad for the guy, stealing his documents like that, when he treated you with nothing but kindness. Like a rat, or a cockroach. Both are things you've been called quite frequently, and definitely applied to the situation. Anyway, back to the phone call, 'your part', and how you were going to snap at this point.
Every week you would slip away to report to your clan, (your aunt really, but she beat your ass so often that you weren't particularly inclined to think of her as family) and most days it would just be boring as fuck. Borderline gossiping, delivering updates on two teachers you barely even saw! Seriously, you were not in the Gojo-fan club, and you never intended to be. With how much Ijichi talked about him, and how much of his paperwork you did, it was hard not to mildly dislike the guy. And you hadn’t even met Geto because of his long mission.
And he didn't even do his taxes, which- first off what a bum. Second of all, it meant you had to go and do a full grown adults taxes and then photocopy them and bring them to those sick freaks you called your clan. At this point you think they might be jealous of Geto, with how much frivolous shit you have to collect on him.
Yeah, you were a victim. A victim to a horrible one sided crush that your entire clan seemed to possess. 'We want to be the people to finally put Satoru Gojo on a leash' 'we're doing this for the greater good of the jujitsu world' 'blah blah blah blah' it seemed like all they did was suck his dick and choke on it. It was so annoying.
"Are you talking back to me? I thought we'd solved your little discipline issue." You straighten, even though she can't see you.
You're hiding out in the woods, like you usually do once you and Ijichi are done for the day (later than all your other classmates, which is fine because you didn’t really want to see them anyway) but it seems like curfew was rapidly approaching. The last thing you wanted was for someone to go out looking for you, so you try and wrap it up.
"Of course not ma'am. I'm incredibly grateful for all you've given me, and I treasure every opportunity that wouldn't be possible without you. Although I refuse his offer and will continue to refuse it till I'm dead, I will try to improve my performance in my current responsibilities for the future."
"You won't try, you will improve, and you should be thankful you're not coming home because I think you know what this little tantrum of yours earned you." You can almost see her sadistic smile in your head, as you continue back to the campus.
When she sighs you can also almost see her frown, “He’s not going to make you, but once you consent your life will be so much easier. I expect you to change your mind in the coming months.”
You've got 25 minutes until 10, which is the absolute latest all students have to be back in their dorms, so you mutter your apologies, which blend into swift goodbyes.
Cold and clipped, just how you prefer. (For those people anyway, that's not to say you never desired warm, human connection. You were just never presented with it.)
You lower the phone from your ear, letting out a sigh of relief, though the tension doesn’t sag out of your body. In fact, you feel more anxiety than usual eating away at you, from your mistake.
"Ah-" Someone calls out to you from behind, and you see a tall man with long black hair (Geto-Sensei, your mind provides) trudging up from the same, worn path. It's a friendly greeting, though you know he's not very familiar with you. The warmth in his tone -which he harbors for most sorcerers- makes you slightly nauseous. "-I was worried when Satoru texted me about you not being in your dorm. What are you doing all the way out here?"
"Oh, um." The small hesitation is embarrassing, not because you weren't shy, you were. You just tried to make a point of never being visibly shy or anxious around people you weren't safe with, which is arguably every adult at Jujitsu Tech, and most of the students. "I was calling my aunt, I guess I just lost track of time."
Geto looks like he doesn't quite believe you, but nods anyway. You had paused as he approached, and it seems he's decided to walk you to the dorms, lightly placing a hand on your back as he herds you forward.
"I see." You expect that to be the end of the conversation, but he continues. "I’ll just walk you back then, I wouldn’t want you to get lost when it's so dark out." Then he does that stupid, condescending smile he uses for civilians. Briefly, your blood boils, and you want to snap at him, but you take a shallow breath. That's not in character.
Rightnow, you're a plient, weak, widow (in training) who might not ever even see the field.
You nod in some kind of agreement. Not super enthusiastic, but enough to know he had your attention. Usually, this is easier, but he's caught you at a bad moment, and repressing your bitchy personality was harder when you were tired.
Then, you give a small smile, “Thank’s Geto-Sensei. I definitely won't be out here again, I forgot how creepy it is at night.”
He then starts yapping about boring shit, and you really regret not just running away when he called your name.
“So, you training under Ijichi-- I hope Gojo-Sensei hasn’t been throwing you two around too much.” Geto says smoothly. Your smile gets a little tighter, as if this guy doesn’t know he’s just as much trouble as Gojo-Sensei. The only difference is that he’s better at talking to people.
You side eye him, “Ah-- most sorcerer's torment Ijichi-sensei. I’m pretty sure he hasn’t had a vacation in like six years…” Take the hint, god please take the hint and do your own paperwork this time, you think to yourself. You shrug, “I guess it just can’t be helped, since a lot of people don’t even bother with basic things like mission reports these days.”
Geto-Sensei lets out a laugh, “Condemn the guilty I suppose, we all take Ijichi for granted sometimes.” There's a small twitch in the corner of his mouth.
You let out a scoff, “Sometimes.”
He looks at you, “Exeuse me?”
“...”
“Uh-- There was something in my throat.”
“Oh, it must have been the wind,” His hand tightens on your shoulder, imperceptible. “You should be careful, I heard choking is a terrible way to go, especially choking on our words. That would be bad right?”
You stiffen slightly, “Hahaha, yes. That would be bad. Lmao.”
Then, Geto turns down to look at you again, with something closer to (disgust? confusion?) and wrinkles his nose. “Did you just say Lmao out loud?”
A bead of sweat runs down your temple, and you silently pray for either this mans, or your own immediate death.
__________________________________________________
After your disastrous first meeting with Geto-Sensei, where you get the impression that he thinks you're a waste of both time and space, you’re finally free to go to bed. The soft sheets wrap around you, and you can't help but think how monumentally judgemental the two of them are.
Like, it's not like you want to pretend you barely have any cursed energy. But a little decorum might be nice. You could acknowledge that yes, sorcerers risked their lives everyday to keep humanity safe, and yes, maybe Geto-Sensei found it a little insensitive. But it was part of their job! When you become an active sorcerer you literally sign a contract that lists your responsibilities, and the two special grades barely did paperwork in the first place.
It wasn’t even that hard! Back last year when you had been an active clan sorcerer and weren’t wrapped up in this espionage bullshit, it had taken like twenty minutes on a bad day. They were just lazy. You narrow your eyes, glaring at the ceiling.
“I bet they’re… slobbering all over each other instead of doing the report.” You stick your tongue out in disgust. “Gross. Love.”
With that horrible image inside of your head you drift off to sleep.
Fitfully.
Now not one, but two teachers were haunting your nightmares. And you were still really bad at acting.

Chapter 1: Unexpected Encounter
Next Masterlist
The city was alive with activity. Neon lights painting the skies in hues of blue and violet. The hum of airships overhead blended with the cacophony of voices in the crowded market square below. For a Stellaron Hunter, such chaos was both a blessing and a curse-it offered cover but also countless opportunities for things to go wrong. Very wrong.
You stood near a vendor stall, your eyes constantly scanning the crowd. Elio's script had been vague, as always, leaving you to fill in the gaps. The mission was to retrieve the data drive, avoid detection, and regroup. Sounded easy enough, but you wished that there were more details within the instructions.
Behind you, Kafka leaned lazily against a lamppost, her lilac eyes glinting with nonchalant amusement. "You're too tense, y/n," she said, her voice as smooth as silk. "Relax. Everything's going according to the script."
You shook your head. "I know, but you're not the one with a five-year-old son to look after," you muttered, keeping your voice low.
She chuckled softly, her gaze flickering to where your son, Hajime, stood beside Silverwolf. The boy was wide-eyed, captivated by the holographic displays at a nearby stall.
"Silverwolf's got him," Kafka assured you. "Blade and I will cover the east quadrant. Focus on the task at hand, alright cutie?"
You nodded, though the unease of a mother twisted in your chest. Hajime was your world, the one part of your life that isn't dictated by Elio's vision. You'd do anything to protect him-even if it meant walking away from the man who shared the same magenta and cyan eyes.
The mission began smoothly enough. You slipped through the crowd, your every move calculated like a ninja's. Blade and Kafka disappeared into the east quadrant, starting their part of the script. Silverwolf stayed behind, her fingers flying across her hacking device as she worked to intercept the rogue agent's signal.
"Hajime," you said, placing your finger into the little speaking device that was well hidden in your ear. "Stay close to Silverwolf. No wandering off."
"I know, mom," He replied, his tone both obedient and slightly exasperated as he sat next to Silverwolf, watching as she continued her job.
For a while, everything seemed fine. Hajime stayed within sight, his curiosity tempered by your warning. But then the stall selling glowing crystals caught his attention.
"Silverwolf, can I look?" he asked, his voice tingled with excitement as he stared at her, practically begging.
She hesitated, glancing at her device then back at him while her fingers kept typing. "Just stay where I can see you," she finally said.
Hajime eagerly nodded then darted off.
Minutes passed, and you felt a flicker of unease. After infiltrating the building and finishing your part of the mission, you went back to Silverwolf. She was sitting, legs crossed as she was preoccupied with whatever she was doing. Stretching, you walked up to her, patting her back until you realized something.
"Where's Hajime?" You asked, your voice sharp enough to have Silverwolf look at you.
"He went exploring," she said blankly, her gaze scanning the crowd to look for the boy's fluffy blond hair.
Panic surged through you. With a sharp glare, you turned and pushed your way through the market, your heart hammering in your chest and making its way up your head, causing you to have a pulsing headache.
Aventurine had no particular reason to be in the fun part of the city other than the fact that he was bored. His work often brought him to places like this-a bustling, neon-soaked market in some distant planet. But tonight the atmosphere intrigued him. Surely the higher ups wouldn't mind if he lingered in the area for a bit.
He strolled through the square with a calm, almost lazy grace, his sharp, neon and magenta eyes taking in the sights. Vendors called out to passersby, hawking everything from the rare spices to glowing trinkets. Children darted between stalls, their laughter cutting through the noise like a sharp melody.
Then that's when he saw him.
A boy, no older than five, weaving through the crowd with the confidence of someone much older. Aventurine paused, his gaze narrowing. There was someone about that child, something oddly familiar that he couldn't place a finger on. Then that's when he saw it. The boy's eyes.
Avgin eyes.
Ones that looked a little too identical to his own.
Realization hit him like a bolt of lightning, but he pushed the thought aside, approaching the boy cautiously.
"Hey there," he said, crouching to the boy's level. "You seem a little far from home."
Hajime looked up at him, his expression wide from curiosity. "I'm not far. Mom's around here somewhere."
Aventurine raised an eyebrow. Why wasn't the boy at least accompanied by his mom then? Was his mom off drinking at a nearby bar or something? "Does your mom know where you are?"
The boy shrugged. "Probably. She's busy. Silverwolf's supposed to be watching me, but she got distracted. Sooo I walked away!"
The name Silverwolf sent a jolt through Aventurine. he knew that name, who didn't? Silverwolf, one of the Stellaron Hunters, a bounty with so many credits for her head. He studied Hajime more carefully, giving him a smile.
"What's your name?" Aventurine asked, keeping his tone light.
"Hajime," the boy said proudly. "Who are you, sir?"
Sir? Aventurine smiled, charmed despite himself. "Just someone passing through. How about we find your mom together?"
Hajime considered for a moment, humming dramatically before giving Aventurine a huge grin. "Okay."
Aventurine couldn't help but genuinely smile as Hajime peppered him with questions. The boy was sharp, his curiosity knowing no bounds.
"Do you live here?" Hajime asked as they walked through the busy market.
"No," Aventurine replied, his eyes wandering off but his peripheral vision on Hajime. "I'm just visiting for a while. How about you?"
"I don't live anywhere," Hajime said matter-of-factly. "Mom says we're always on the move because of her work. But she always makes sure I'm safe."
Aventurine hummed nonchalantly, feeling a pang of something he couldn't quite name. Pity? "She sounds like a good mom."
Hajime nodded enthusiastically. "She's the best! She's really strong, and she knows everything. But she gets grumpy sometimes."
The older male chuckled. "I see. And what about you? What do you like to do?"
the boy tilted his head, thinking. "I really like learning about stars and planets. They's so cool! Mom tells me stories about them all the time. Do you have any good stories, sir?"
Aventurine smiled. "Many, Hajime, like-" He began to ramble on about a star that burned so brightly that it burned the planets around it. Hajime listened intently, his eyes only growing wider with wonder.
You found Hajime just as Aventurine was finishing his story. Relief crashed onto you like a tsunami, but it was quickly replaced by dread as you saw just who he was with.
Aventurine.
He looked up, his gaze locking onto yours. Time seemed to slow, the noise of the market fading into the background. His expression shifted-first surprise, then it morphed into something deeper, something more intense.
You forced yourself to move, your steps graceful despite the chaos inside of you. "Hajime," you said, voice calm but firm. "I told you not to wander off."
Hajime ran to you, his small arms wrapping around your leg. "Sorry mama. But look!" He looked up at you, grinning as he pointed at Aventurine. "He helped me look for you."
Aventurine just stood there, his charm seeming to radiate off him. His gaze never left yours, a slow smile spreading across his face. "It's been a while, hasn't?" He said, his tone laced with something unreadable, making your heart jump a little.
You met his gaze evenly despite the pounding of your heart. "Indeed. Thank you for watching him."
Hajime tugged on your sleeve, momentarily bringing you back into the present away from Aventurine. "Mom, he told me a story about a star! Can I hear more? Please?"
You smiled faintly, your mask firmly in place. "Maybe another time."
Aventurine chuckled, his usual charm sliding into place as he slipped his hands in his pocket. "I'd be happy to. But first, I think your mom and I need to have.. a little chat."

Shizun Babies update, but I also wanna try doing WIP Wednesday so you get a way earlier update. About another 500 words, the conclusion of the previous scene. Shen Yuan Fucks Up™
🔗 just the updates | memes and updates | first | prev ← did you miss it? I tried posting on Saturday this time.
"Right," Shen Jiu said slowly, hand under his chin as he thought. "I think Return to Childhood might be a qi deviation Huan Hua seniors get pretty often? I don't know much about it, to be honest, my sources on that aren't exactly cultivators themselves."
No, paranoia would drive Shen Yuan unnecessarily insane. So, presuming Shen Jiu was sharing everything he knew, Shen Yuan would do the same. Err, the relevant bits. "Proud Immortal Demon Way is told from an omniscient point of view, so as long as we don't mention anything that's forbidden, we don't necessarily need an audience, but it'd probably help to get the named characters involved -- Luo Binghe, Ning Yingying, Ming Fan, maybe get Liu Mingyan up here somehow?"
Shen Yuan turned his head down to face a blinking Shen Jiu. "So," Shen Jiu said slowly. "When the System calls Luo Binghe 'the Protagonist'..."
Ah. Fuck .
Shen Yuan nodded. "In the early arcs, he's the one that all the whump happens to, and then when it goes from Torture Porn to Revenge Porn to just Porn, he's the one inflicting poetic justice and marrying calamitous beauties by the hundreds."
Shen Jiu mouthed the words 'torture porn', horror on his face.
Look, okay? Sorry to everyone involved, but Shen Yuan had been trying to workshop how to nail down those bonus points, since he couldn't be sure how much time they'd have alone together. He'd kind of forgotten that Shen Jiu didn't have the same World Knowledge the System had, alright??
"So in this book," Shen Jiu said, rubbing his temples in the way of someone who already had a headache that was about to get worse. "Shen Qingqiu is...?"
No point in sugarcoating it. "The principal villain of the first arc."
"The torture porn arc," said Shen Jiu.
"The first of three torture porn arcs," said Shen Yuan, in all fairness. "And the Endless Abyss is by far the worst of them, Binghe would have died several times if it weren't for certain artifacts that this master would really rather have available later on!!"
"During the revenge porn arcs." Shen Jiu said before falling to his knees, clearly on the verge of huge toddler tears. "Plural, because one of them is just me, isn't it?"
That... isn't something Shen Yuan wants to think about with the emotional regulation of a toddler, much less describe to another, already distressed, toddler. "I... don't believe in spoilers?"
Shen Jiu looked at Shen Yuan.
Shen Yuan looked at Shen Jiu.
They both took off running at the same time, Shen Yuan screaming fearfully, Shen Jiu screaming angrily.
Their combined screams reached a peak above what the privacy wards were prepared to deal with, and both Shens Qingqiu yelped in surprise as the door burst open in that same instant.
"Xiao Jiu?!?" shouted the Sect Leader, drawing talismans from a pocket as he surveyed the scene.
Shen Jiu eeped again, and ducked behind Shen Yuan.

Fox is being punished.
That has to be it. He had been a bad Commander, a bad soldier, a bad brother. All he had ever done had been mistakes, one after the other, leading up to his miserable end.
But even after that, even after his body had been broken, even after he had had to lay there, in pain and numb, slowly choking out because no matter how much he had wanted to, his lungs would not draw in another breath. The only mercy he had been granted there had been the fact that he had lost consciousness before the end had actually arrived, so he had not had to actually see it.
Fox had known when the end had come, though. There had been a flash of something, a landscape of rivers and lights he had fallen through, all the way back towards the hard ground beneath him.
Then, he had stood there, watching himself laying on that hard ground, unmoving and cold.
Fox had watched as his men had gathered around him, how they tried to find a pulse, even though Fox himself could tell it had been too late just by looking at himself. He had looked like a doll that had been played too harshly with, and then left behind, once his owner had grown bored with him.
Fox had watched as his men had gathered his body and covered it, despite the fact that he had still had his entire armor on. He had watched them carry it away.
Fox had not followed them.
He knows what happens to all the bodies already.
He did…he did not want to see himself go through it.
It is selfish of him, he knows. He should’ve followed them, should’ve watched himself burn, like all of his brothers before him, who had been fortunate enough to make it back. It shouldn’t have mattered.
He is already dead, after all.
Still, he had not followed them. Instead, he just continues to stand there, at the foot of the Temple, where he had taken his last breath.
He had thought he would see his brothers again.
He had thought that he would finally get to apologise to Thorn. He had thought that Thorn would throw his arm around his shoulders and call him stupid for thinking that he had something to apologise for.
He had thought that he would get to run to Ponds’s arms again. He had thought he would get to be held, and his older brother, always forgiving, would tell him that he still loved him, no matter what.
Fox stares at the ground, where his body had fallen.
It seems that once again, he had thought he deserved more than he was ever meant to.
— — —
Fox is being punished.
That has to be it. He is being punished for all his failures, by having him witness the same things happen over and over again, but this time, he is even more helpless than ever before.
He watches as his brothers continue to die. He watches as bolts that he could’ve warned them about hit them over and over again, because his voice doesn’t carry anymore.
He watches as his brothers continue to lose themselves, pulling the triggers of their blasters over and over again, because his hands are as much nothing as the air around them is.
He watches as the Galaxy continues to fall deeper and deeper into the darkness.
He watches it all, and he knows it is his fault.
— — —
Fox thinks about visiting Alderaan, sometimes.
He misses it. It’s weird. He misses a place that he has never been to. He misses a place that was never his home, and never would be.
He misses-
Fox pushes the thought away from his mind, frightened of the possibility of what will happen if he thinks about it, thinks about them too much. He is not tied to the laws of regular travelling of the Universe anymore, and he is afraid that if he thinks too much, the next thing he knows, he will be standing there, looking right at them.
He can’t do that.
— — —
Fox watches Bly die.
His screams don’t reach him before he is gone, and they don’t reach him after.
— — —
Fox watches Stone die.
He screams, again, even though he knows it’s pointless. He screams at him, orders him to get up, orders him not to leave Thire alone to this place.
Stone doesn’t hear him. He dies, bleeding out in front of Fox, his blood flowing through Fox’s hands, no matter how hard Fox tries to hold it all in.
— — —
Fox watches his brothers die.
He still tries, for some reason. Tries to hold them, tries to keep them from falling apart, tries to tell them they aren’t alone as they fade.
He tries, because he has to. Because he didn’t try hard enough when he still had the chance.
— — —
He thinks of Rex a lot, whenever he sits by one of his brothers during their last moments.
He thinks of Rex and the ARC Trooper in Rex’s arms and with a hole in his chest, and he sees himself holding the weapon.
Fox is being punished.
— — —
Fox watches his brothers die.
He stays with them until the end.
All of them leave Fox after.
— — —
Fox surrounds himself with his brothers.
He sits there, among them, the living and the dead. He listens to their voices, he watches their faces, he searches their eyes for recognition as they look towards him.
It never comes. They can only look towards Fox, but not at him.
Fox doesn’t know if he even wants them to see him.
He doesn’t want them to leave him.
He closes his eyes and listens to his brothers’ voices.
— — —
Fox watches Wolffe.
He follows him around as he goes across the Galaxy, and closes his eyes whenever he pulls the trigger.
Fox watches Cody.
He follows him around as he goes across the Galaxy, and holds his hand whenever he pulls the trigger.
Fox watches them destroy themselves, and all he can do is cry silent, invisible tears.
— — —
Fox watches his brothers die.
As he sits there, in a pool of blood that cannot stain him any further, he knows that he is being punished.
He can’t take it anymore.
Fox is being punished, and there is no place left for him that won’t hurt him further.
He still goes, wishing for the reprieve of a different kind of pain.
— — —
The sun is setting when Fox arrives to Alderaan.
He stands there, at the gates to the Palace, and watches the sun disappear behind the mountains and paint the sky with the colors of the warmth he can not feel anymore.
He only has enough courage to enter through the gates once the sky has begun to turn dark.
He remembers the stories Bail and Breha had told him. He remembers the terraces Bail had told him about, the ones where he would sit with Breha whenever he was back home. He remembers the halls Bail had described to him, the ones where he and Breha would dance in when they had the time, when they had a moment just for themselves to enjoy.
He remembers the corridors and hallways Breha had told him about, the ones she had grown up running through, her shoes forgotten in the haste of seeing the ships leave in the morning.
With the stories playing in his mind, he wanders through the Palace, all the way to the living rooms of the Queen and her Consort.
Fox can hear them, through the door. He recognises the low, gentle sway of Bail’s voice, and he knows the melody of Breha’s voice as she speaks.
He stands there, outside their door, and listens to them speak words he cannot make out.
Bail says something. Breha laughs.
Fox smiles. His tears don’t burn his eyes anymore.
He sits on the floor and leans against their door, and he listens.
— — —
When the morning comes, Fox hides.
He’s not hiding because he fears they will see him. He knows painfully well by now that he is invisible to the Galaxy as it is now.
No, he hides, so that he can’t see them.
So it goes. Fox hides in the halls and rooms of the Palace, living as a shadow in the house that was never his home, and he listens to the voices of the people he had once hoped would be his home.
He knows the sound of Bail’s footsteps already, and he quickly learns Breha’s as well. Sometimes, he catches a glimpse of them, and he averts his eyes, no matter how much he wants to do nothing else than just look at them.
There’s pain waiting for him in their faces, and there is pain here, where he doesn’t see them.
Fox is being punished, after all.
When the night falls, he sits by their door and listens to them talk.
Bail says something. Breha laughs.
There is silence.
Breha cries.
It’s an awful sound.
Fox thinks that it’s his fault.
— — —
Breha is not back to the Palace yet.
Fox still sits in front of their door, even though there is no conversation going on on the other side.
It’s silent, for a long while, but then there is noise.
Bail is crying.
It’s an awful sound.
Fox thinks it’s his fault, too.
After all, had he not ruined everything that Bail had worked so long for?
— — —
They have a child, now.
It’s impossible for Fox to not know that. Everyone around him is talking about her.
The little Princess of Alderaan.
Fox knows that they always wanted children. They talked about it often. So often, that sometimes, when Fox had been foolish enough for a moment, he had imagined a little girl himself, a little girl with dark eyes and dark hair, with a toothy smile and bright laugh.
A little girl, just for them.
He’s happy for them. He really is. He knows how much they wanted to have a child. A little girl, just for them.
Fox had always known that he had been nothing more than a pawn on the board of war.
Somehow, there is still a new pain to be found, from the realisation that the Galaxy and the lives in it would continue to move forward even without him.
They have a child, now. A little girl, just for them, like it had been before Fox, and how it is now without him.
— — —
The little Princess has not been sleeping properly, lately.
Fox doesn’t know a lot about babies, but he has heard some say that it is quite normal for them to sometimes go through periods where they seem to be doing nothing more than cry, day and night.
The little Princess has certainly been doing that for the past week.
Her cries always start the same. First as a few hiccups, that will eventually grow to sobs, and then to loud, demanding and shrill screams, that will go and and on, before she grows tired, and her little voice becomes hoarse, until she has the energy to just whimper.
Fox hates the sound. He hates every second of every part of it.
There is a need inside of him. A need that tells him that he must stand up, that he must walk through the door, that he must take the child and soothe her until she stops crying, that he must do so until she is happy again.
He wonders if this was what the Prime felt like when he had been given his son.
The little Princess cries. Fox listens to it, his teeth drawing blood that will not flow from his lip as he bites down on it, in order to keep himself composed. Breha and Bail sound both exhausted, as far as Fox can hear through the door, but still, they carry on, trying their best to soothe their daughter, as she continues to cry.
Eventually, a silence falls.
It draws on, far longer than it has in many days.
Fox listens to it for a while, until it becomes simply too much. For a week, he has been holding himself together, and now, during a moment of peace, he has run out of any patience he had still had left.
He stands, and moves into the rooms on the other side of the door.
He moves slowly and quietly through the dark living room. It feels appropriate, still, even though he makes no sound anymore for anyone to hear. He glances at the marks of a long life together, a life that he was just a small, brief moment in, and makes his way to the bedroom.
Fox does hesitate for a long moment before he actually steps in. It feels like he is intruding, no matter how many times there had been promises, promises of this place, promises for his place exactly here. After all, those promises had never been able to come through, all because of Fox himself. There is no place for him here, anymore.
Bail and Breha are both asleep. Fox can see them lay on the bed, turned towards each other in their slumber. Breha is curled against Bail, and Bail is curled around her, his back to Fox, like he is protecting her.
Fox finally looks at them properly, now that they have their eyes closed.
He feels like a stranger, stumbling upon a picture of a perfect life. It has been a while since he has wished for anything else than the final mercy of true death be granted upon him, but now, there is a longing for a life inside of him, burning him cold.
He stands there and he longs, longs for two things he cannot have at the same time.
Fox is being punished.
There is a small, dim light on at the nightstand on the other side of the bed, and next to it, is a small cot.
Fox tiptoes around the bed, and he slowly, so slowly and carefully, makes his way to the cot and looks in.
She is sleeping there, the little Princess of Alderaan. She has a round face and small body, and tiny arms and legs with even tinier hands and feet.
There is a tuft of brown hair on top of her head.
Fox has a feeling that if her eyes were open, he would see that they were also dark.
A little girl, with dark eyes and brown hair.
A little girl, just for them.
There she is, just like Fox had imagined her.
There she is, now that Fox is not.
She makes little sounds when she sleeps. Tiny gasps and soft sniffles, and even tinier whines every now and then as she shifts around a bit, her eyelids fluttering for a second before she settles back down.
Fox cannot look away.
He stands there, looking at her, at her round cheeks and tiny nose, at the tiny shadows her little eyelashes are casting on her skin, at the way her hair is longer at her forehead and curls ever so slightly towards the left side of her head.
She whines a little, then again, a little louder. Breha shifts a little on the bed behind Fox.
She needs her rest.
Fox knows it doesn’t matter, but he hums.
There hadn’t been any songs for them when Fox had been little. No lullabies or nursery rhymes. The only songs that had been sung to them had been the endless melodies of the ocean and its waves, and the songs of war, of bravery and brotherhood.
None of them are suitable to be sung to a little Princess in the dead of the night, to lull her back to sleep.
It’s a good thing, then, that she cannot hear him.
Still, despite all of this, Fox hums the song to her, the song of his brothers and their hearts. He hums the song over and over again, with his voice that cannot tire anymore, as it is as soundless as it was eternal.
The whines stop. She squirms around a bit, before she settles again, and stays there for the rest of the night.
Fox flees when the morning comes and he hears Bail awaken.
— — —
Now that Fox has given a part of himself, he cannot take it back anymore.
He goes in the next night, stands there next to the cot and looks at the little Princess, and he hums the song for her. She sleeps through night after night.
Fox knows he is only deluding himself in thinking he is actually helping in any way.
He still leaves every morning.
— — —
Babies grow fast.
Fox notices it all by himself without anyone having to tell him. She seems to get bigger after every week.
Leia. The little Princess. A little girl, just for them.
She is five months now, Fox had heard Breha mention it the day before.
Fox realises that she must’ve been born right after the Rise of the Empire.
It feels like it has been a lot longer than that.
— — —
Fox hums. Leia had fallen asleep an hour ago, so it was still early into the night. Bail and Breha were also in the bed already, trying to catch as much sleep as they could.
Fox had really thought they were asleep.
Until he hears a quiet, choked sob.
Bail pushes himself up instantly at the sound. Even though Fox could disappear instantly from where he stood, his mind had stopped working for a moment right then, and it’s already too late when the thought to do so finally crosses him.
“Breha?” Bail murmurs.
Breha doesn’t answer instantly. Fox hears her draw in a deep breath that comes out accompanied by another sob.
“I-” She says, and tries to breathe in deep again, but her voice just wavers more when she speaks after it. “I miss him. I miss him so much. He was supposed to be here.”
“I know”, Bail says. “I know. I miss him too.”
Breha buries her face into Bail’s chest and cries.
“He was supposed to be here”, she sobs, digging a hot, burning blade of pain deeper into Fox’s chest with every noise. “He was supposed to be here, with us.”
It takes Fox a moment to realise that they are talking about him.
He looks Bail in the eyes properly for the first time since before his death.
They are full of tears, already making their way down his face, steadily and quietly as he holds Breha through her cries, steadfast and strong as always.
Fox remembers how much he loves them again.
He wants so badly to reach for them in that moment, he wants so badly for them to see him, to hear him, like he is still there.
But he is not there.
He continues humming, through his own, quiet and weightless tears, and Leia sleeps through the night.
— — —
Fox stays when the morning comes.
He cannot look away from them anymore, either. So he watches as they dress themselves and then dress Leia, and he follows them when they walk out of the Palace and through the gardens, down the hill and to a smaller garden, away from the main one at the central courtyard.
Fox didn’t remember either of them ever mentioning it to him. They had both talked so much about all the plants and flowers of the Palace in detail when Fox had asked, in wonder of having living things in such abundance all around, even indoors.
The little garden looks new, as Fox takes a better look at it. The stones around the flowerbeds have no weather to them yet, and the ground on which the flowers themselves stand is dark and loose and looks like it has just been placed there.
There are young trees at the center of the garden, their blooming branches arching over white stones in the middle.
It takes a Fox a moment to realise that it’s a grave.
There are some petals that have fallen on the stone in the middle. Bail sweeps them away, before resting his hand on top of the stone.
“Good morning, our love”, he says, and with air that he doesn’t need to breathe stuck inside his throat, Fox reads the writing on the stone.
Where he lives now is in our hearts
Eternal, everlasting
Like love
Fox Organa
Remembered and lived by his wife, husband and daughter
Oh.
Fox had thought- he had thought-
Breha takes Leia’s little hand to hers, and she presses both it and her own hand on top of the stone as well.
“Good morning, love”, she says. “Say good morning, Buir.”
Leia is five months old. Fox knows that she is too young to know how to speak yet.
Still, she babbles happily, her little fingers curling against the stone, and Fox-
Fox stands beside his own grave and cries.
— — —
He looks at Leia that night as she sleeps. He looks at her round cheeks and tiny nose, her dark hair and tiny hands and feet, the way her chin is shaped and the way her mouth curves.
He looks at her, and hums a song for her, to their little Princess. To their little girl, a little girl who is just for them.
Fox sits on the edge of the bed once Bail and Breha are both asleep, and he feels like he somehow belongs, even though he is not there.
— — —
Leia is six months old.
She is still rather small, as far as Fox has understood, but Bail and Breha are not worried by that. Fox trusts that they have a good reason.
He is sitting on his spot on the edge of the bed, humming the song, as Leia suddenly scrunches her face, looking very much like she is about to cry.
Fox stands up in a hurry and leans over the cot.
“Shhh”, he hushes. “Shhh, it’s alright, it’s alright.”
He only realises that he is trying for nothing, like all the times before, after he has already said the words.
Indeed, Leia does open her eyes, her face still scrunched up and her mouth drawn tightly, and she blinks rapidly, and-
She looks up, her dark eyes locking in on Fox’s.
Fox freezes.
No. No, she is not looking at him, he reminds himself. She cannot see him, since he is not actually there-
Leia’s face relaxes as she continues staring at him. Her mouth goes lax for a moment, and then it curls into a toothy smile, and she reaches her hands towards him.
Fox cannot help it. Readying himself for inevitable disappointment, he reaches his hand into the cot.
Leia’s hands reach for his. First they don’t seem to be able to grasp on anything, but then, all of a sudden, they curl around Fox’s thumb. It feels like there is static between them, as a layer on Fox’s skin, but he can still feel the pressure and a hint of warmth through it.
Leia looks at him, and smiles.
Fox smiles back, wavering and on the edge of tears yet again, but he smiles back at her.
“That’s right”, he says. “It’s alright. Buir is here.”
Leia falls back asleep that night holding onto Fox’s hand.
— — —
There are limits to what Fox can do.
He cannot lift Leia up properly. He can put his hands under her and lift her maybe half an inch for a second or maybe two, at max. The static feeling is always there whenever she touches him, but Fox can let her hold onto him, and he can lightly brush her head to soothe her. Leia giggles every time Fox runs his finger down the bridge of her nose.
Fox has no other option than to exist with the fact that there is one person in the whole Galaxy who can see him.
He cannot touch her as much when she is being held by someone else. He cannot pry her away from Breha or Bail, not that Fox even wants to.
Breha is holding her on her shoulder as she mixes her a bottle. Leia is a little fussy, hunger making her impatient.
Fox calls to her, and when Leia looks up at him, he sticks his tongue out at her.
The fussiness and the hunger are completely forgotten. Leia laughs and clumsily claps her hands together. She shrieks out a louder laugh as Fox does it again.
Breha turns, and looks around the room. There is still a bang of loss in Fox’s chest as her eyes pass right by him.
“Something caught your eye?” Breha asks. She is smiling as she looks at Leia, and Fox loves her immensely.
— — —
Bail stands next to Fox at Leia’s cot.
Fox had always leaned against him whenever they had stood this close to each other. It had been a habit, born from the fact that Fox had always run cold while Bail had always run warm.
Fox misses that warmth.
Bail looks at Leia, who stares right back at him.
“The last time I checked”, Bail says slowly. “It was way past the bedtime for little Princesses.”
Leia only grins at Bail, who looks extremely dejected. Fox cannot help but laugh a little.
Leia’s eyes move to Fox, and she laughs back at him.
Bail frowns, and turns to look. For a moment, it feels like he is looking straight at Fox, but his eyes never stop searching.
Fox wants to just lean forward and fall against him.
He stays put, until Bail’s eyes turn away.
— — —
Leia stands up against the couch.
Carefully, she lets go of it. She looks at Breha, who is sitting just a few meters away from them, and then she looks at Fox, who is sitting on the couch.
Fox smiles at her.
“Go on”, he says. “Go on, Leili’ika, you can do it.”
“Come on”, Breha says, extending her arms towards Leia. “Come on, you can do it!”
Leia takes one, hesitant step away from the couch. Then another, and another, until she has made it to Breha, who catches her in a hug.
“There you go!” Breha laughs, and kisses Leia’s cheeks. “There you go, I knew you could do it!”
Leia giggles, and then looks over at Fox.
Fox claps his hands.
“Good job!” He says. Breha puts Leia back down, and Leia turns around, and makes her way towards him with small, wavering steps. She grabs at the couch right in front of Fox, and looks up at him, with a wide, toothy smile.
Fox glances at Breha.
Breha is looking at Leia, but slowly, her eyes move up, following Leia’s gaze.
She doesn’t see him, but she keeps looking, almost like she is expecting to see something there.
She is not smiling anymore. Fox swallows, and turns to look back at Leia.
Leia is still smiling, and Fox quickly smiles back at her.
“Good job”, he says again, and runs his thumb over her cheek. “Good job, Leia.”
Leia giggles again. Breha is still looking when Fox looks back at her.
— — —
“Sometimes, it just…” Breha trails off. “....it just seems like she’s really seeing something we’re not.”
“I know”, Bail says. “But…she always looks happy, correct?”
Breha nods.
“Yes”, she answers, and then pauses. “...do you think it’s because of…”
Bail takes her hand into his.
“Maybe”, he says, almost whispering. “Maybe. Though I…I cannot imagine what she is seeing. I’ve never heard of anything like this. Obi-Wan or Master Yoda could know, perhaps, but…”
He cuts himself off, and shakes his head.
“It’s too dangerous”, he says.
Fox stares at his hands as he listens to them speak, his mind trying to catch up with what had just been said.
They aren't all gone. The Jedi are not all gone.
Obi-Wan Kenobi is alive.
— — —
Fox goes to see Kenobi that night, after Leia has fallen asleep.
It’s the middle of the day there, with two suns blaring down on the desert. Fox finds Kenobi easily enough.
He looks like he has aged several years in just a span of one.
Fox cannot blame him.
He watches Kenobi for a while, looking for any sign that he can see Fox.
When none come, Fox steps closer.
“General?” He calls. “General Kenobi?”
Nothing.
Fox tries not to feel disappointed.
There’s a strange feeling then, like he is being watched. Fox turns around.
No one around him is looking at him.
— — —
Fox goes to visit Cody after.
He watches as Cody cleans his blaster, just like he always does. He looks like he usually does as well, with his helmet off, and his brows creased in a gentle, concentrated frown.
Fox wonders what Cody would do, if Fox could tell him that Kenobi is alive.
Perhaps it’s for the best that he can’t.
Fox returns to Alderaan, and sits on the edge of the bed. Leia makes a sound, and he hums her song to her to settle her back to sleep.
— — —
Kids are fast.
Much faster than they have any right to be. Leia especially, because she is still tiny.
“Leia!” Bail calls after her, as she speeds off. “Leia, slow down!”
Fox can move a lot faster than anyone else. In less than a blink of an eye, he is in front of her, and she hastily slows herself down to a stop.
“You heard your papa”, Fox says. “Slow down.”
Leia has the gall to pout at him.
Bail has now caught up to her as well, and he scoops her up.
“What are you pouting at?” He asks her, tickling her stomach lightly.
Leia laughs.
“Buir!” She giggles, which makes Bail stop immediately.
He looks at Leia, looking a bit confused for a moment, and then glances towards the small garden.
“Do you want to go see Buir?” He asks her.
Leia turns to look back at Fox.
“Buir”, she says.
Bail doesn’t notice her looking, because he just nods, and starts to make his way towards the garden. Fox decides it’s for the best if he follows them.
Bail puts her back down on the ground in front of the grave.
“There we go”, he murmurs. “Say hello to Buir.”
Leia frowns at the stone, and then looks at Fox.
“Buir”, she says. She sounds rather confused now.
Bail looks at her, and then up, straight at Fox but straight past him.
Fox makes himself smile at Leia.
“It’s okay”, he says. He brushes his hand across the top of her head. “It’s okay, Leili’ika. Buir is right here.”
Leia looks at him, and then reaches her hand.
“Buir”, she says.
Fox lets her grab onto his hand. He watches as Bail looks at him, still straight past him, with a lost look full of grief in his eyes.
Once again, Fox wishes nothing more than to be able to speak to him, make him see, make him hear him, so Fox could tell him that he is right there.
But he cannot.
Because even when Fox has found his place, even when Fox has found happiness, even when Fox has found a home, even when he has been granted a reason to be here.
Even then, Fox is being punished.

Billy in the Watchmen AU (spoilers for Watchmen Chapter 1)
For anyone who already knows who the Watchmen are and avidly read and generally consume the media, this is a post from a newbie, so don’t expect any nuance, lol. I’ve only watched the recent animated movie. Also be forewarned that this does mean the timeline is way more recent. This takes place in at least the 2010s, not the 80s like in canon.
If you don’t know who the Watchmen are, they are a group of “heroes” from an alternate dc universe where it’s the 80s and superheroes are outlawed. There’s also a group called the Minute Men who were there before them, who were all either taken out or had their lives wrecked.
The second Nite Owl got the permission of the first to dawn the name and costume. The second Silk Spectre is the daughter of the first. The Comedian was part of the Minute Men along with the first Nite Owl and Silk Spectre, and he is known to be part of the Watchmen. There’s also Rorschach, who’s like a darker version of Question. Dr. Manhattan is like if Martian Manhunter didn’t feel emotion and also cannot shape shift, but his power set is still extensive. Ozymandias is apparently a hero turned villain, and I already see that playing out a bit in the animated movie—
Holy shit he kills people. So many people. He has a warped sense of justice and he kills a whole bunch of people under the guise of an alien invasion just to unite the population. Yeah, now I get it. Anyway before he was a member, and after retiring he has this huge company called Veidt, where he sells toys and stuff.
Whole lotta other stuff to say about the Minute Men and Watchmen, but I’m sure you get the jist.

SO, with all that out of the way. TIME BUBBLE, people. Maybe it pops sometimes, maybe the bubble isn’t a bubble but it stops the aging process until it pops, idk. But Billy joins the Watchmen and goes through all the tough shit they go through, like Dr. Manhattan not understanding human emotion so he watches The Conedian kill a woman pregnant with his child.(I know, but I’m too lazy to explain every single detail lol).
He’s in the background while everyone starts hating their team and watches the Comedian wreck their whole image. Keep in mind that he’s not in his Cap form for his stint as a member because it’s way too flashy. He’s like their tech guy, but the tech is actually magic.
After the law against supers, Billy hightails it for Fawcett and leaves a note for the Watchmen who he actually like(everyone but the Comedian, fuck you Edward Blake). When Superman comes into the scene, he brings a new vision with him, and new and old heroes are able to come into the limelight. However, with three members working for the government (Manhattan, Comedian, and Silk Spectre 2), one on the run(Rorschach), one staying away,(Nite Owl 2), and one going into mass producing himself (Veidt)…Yeah, they think better of that.
A decade goes by and Billy’s(looking like) an eighteen year old living it up with his JL pals. Meanwhile, a retired army veteran, Edward Blake, has just been murdered. He doesn’t have the best thoughts on the US military, so he doesn’t pay much mind. That is until Amanda Waller kidnaps and takes him to a remote facility and decides to info dump that yes, she knows who he is, and yes, she knows he used to work with/for the Watchmen. Also, Edward Blake is the Comedian, surprise.
Yeah, Billy gets the hell out of there as soon as possible. Waller says she wants his help bringing in the members who aren’t on government watch, but he’s firm with his refusal, and she can’t just keep Captain Marvel locked up without facing the wrath of the Justice League and Squadron of Justice.
A couple days later, the JL are in Fawcett and planning to go to one of those magic infused restaurants with performances and everything, but Billy has to make a pit stop at his apartment. They’re cool with it and go with him, and guess who’s sitting in the dining room inhaling canned beans?
Iiiiits Rorschach!
Billy is FREAKING out because the Watchmen can’t be seen together! He rushes the JL out as quick as possible and says he’s “so sorry, but something’s come up, I can’t go. Just tell the front desk fawn that I sent you and she’ll know.”
Naturally, Diana is the first to say that she is not leaving him alone with someone who BROKE INTO HIS HOME. Billy waves her off and says that “it’s totally cool! This happens all the time in Fawcett!” before slamming the door closed.
Billy: what the hell were you thinking?
Rorschach: Im here for good reason, B.
Billy: Save it, I know about the Comedian and Blake.
Rorschach: You don’t think this is a one and done thing, do you? Someone’s clearly gunning for masks, and for some reason, they started with one of us! Why not those new flashy heroes you hang with? Superman? Batman? Wonder Woman? Why one of us?
Billy: In case you forgot, we operated during the Cold War. We made enemies. And even without that, Blake was a military man who enjoyed making people suffer. If he had no enemies, I call bullshit!
Rorschach: I’m still determined to make sure this doesn’t happen to the rest of us. I’m going to everyone’s homes, and—
Billy: Okay, now you’ve blocked me. No one is going to listen. Daniel(Nite Owl) has moved on. Laurel hates the guy and Jon(Dr. Manhattan) does whatever Laurel(Silk Spectre) wants. Adrian(Ozymandius) is perfectly happy with his company. And I swear, if you bring any of the Minute Men into this…
Rorschach: I have to try. Even if they don’t believe me, I have to get it into their heads somehow. The Minute Men went through the exact same thing.
Billy: no offense, but your wording does not get across to people as “caring.” You’ll just as soon make them throw you out.
Rorschach: Agreed. So, I’ll need to bring along someone who’s better at that than I am.
Billy:
Rorschach:
Billy: Damn it.
Cue the cancel out duo of Billy and Rorschach going to the home of the former second Nite Owl and freaking him the hell out. Daniel and Billy reminisce about the old days while Rorschach gets across his point. Daniel naturally thinks it’s a flimsy take, and Billy says he gets it, but being a little more careful never hurt anyone, right?
They also talk about Blake. Dan says he’s thinking of going to the funeral, but he also has mixed feelings. Billy says he isn’t going. After what happened with Sally Jupiter(the first Silk Spectre, and Laurel’s mom), he can’t look at any pictures of him the same way.
They leave, next going to Veidt Inc.
Predictably, it does the same way. Except this time, Billy is able to glean that something is off about Adrian. He can’t put his finger on it, but he tells Rorschach to leave as soon as possible.
Laurel and Jon are a little less angry(they have good reason tho) because billy is there. Laurel’s so happy to see him! Jon on the other hand doesn’t know what to do.
They used to be close. Billy was used to speaking to higher beings who didn’t understand the concept of human morality and the like. Jon’s a little different, because gods are able to feel, but it’s as close as it can get. Billy stood up for him on multiple occasions, except when Jon cheated on his gf with Laurel, that got him a two month no-talking period until it didn’t seem right to do so and he got to know Laurel.
Then the island stuff happened. The Comedian may be an asshole, but he doesn’t lie. Jon just stood there while that woman bled out. Billy just…couldn’t look at him the same anymore.
Unlike in the movie, where Rorschach says something stupid and Laurel tells Jon to make him leave, Billy stops Rorschach from making that idiotic mistake and says that they don’t have to hide themselves or actively look for danger. It’s just important that they generally keep themselves safe by any means that they want to. They readily agree because wow, boundaries!
Meanwhile, Bruce and his gaggle of detectives found out who that weird guy sitting at Billy’s dining table is. A member of a team that hasn’t been talked about in decades. Of course, there are no articles or pictures involving the Watchmen interacting with a kid with magic. So, they naturally want answers from HIM. Billy is tight-lipped when they see him, and is somewhere else in his free time(with Rorschach).
Unfortunately, that’s when shit really takes a turn. A former villain that Rorschach and Billy spoke to tells them that the Comedian, without a mask, was in his bedroom weeks before he died! Spouting nonsense about Dr. Manhattan, an island, a list, people who were apparently worse than him, so much worse that he started begging to be forgiven.
Dr. Manhattan goes on live television for the first time in decades. This is the first time the JL has ever seen him. Billy’s watching it carefully with Rorschach and just about has a heart attack when some reporter gets up and tells him that several people who he used to know have contracted forms of cancer. At least a dozen. There’s a list.
A list. Oh shit!
Jon cries out in anger and disappears, rushing who knows where(Mars).
Meanwhile, Adrian kills someone. At least, it looks like he did. The other guy attacked him and his assistant, and was biting his tongue to keep from saying anything. Adrian puts his hand in his mouth to stop him, but he’s too late. He’s been framed for murder.
With all of this happening, Rorschach gets a message from Moloch saying that they need to talk. Cool, have fun. Billy’s at the Watchtower and he’s swiftly avoiding the topic of that weird guy in his apartment.
Two seconds later, Rorschach is on the news. He’s been caught. His mask is off. Billy is screaming internally.
That is the exact moment when he turns to the JL.
“…I need your help breaking someone out of prison. And presumably stopping a mass killing. And that mass killing kind if sort of includes me.”
Yeah, they’re gonna need more info. Like hold up, you were in a team before us😠?
Anyway that’s where the brain rot ends until the second movie. Jeez this was a lot.

She had been pregnant.
It had been early.
So early that it had been months before she even realised. Half of the universe disappeared, Peter included.
And months later she had given birth to their son.
Their son.
Ben.

Ao3 Chapter 2 Chapter 3
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
May 2023
Peter has known her for as long as he’s known anything.
Back before his parents died, they had been prominent members of the Oscorp Foundation. They worked directly with Norman, and so Peter grew up spending a lot of his time with Harry Osborn. Occasionally, though, there would be a collaboration between Oscorp and their largest competitor, Stark Industries. With S.I. came Tony Stark, and with Tony came his daughter.
She was about a year younger than him and Harry but she held her own just fine. She was smart as a whip and full of fire.
He’d been in love with her for longer than he knew what love was.
They had taken such a liking to each other that Tony made the effort to get them together as often as possible. Eventually, moving them to New York full-time after Peter’s parents died. Tony made an effort to keep up the relationship even then. He did it for his daughter; she’d become so attached to Peter. And he had done the same.
The sun rose and set with Y/N Stark as far as he was concerned.
The bond between them grew as they did. They became halves of the same whole. One rarely without the other. He held her when she sobbed, broken and exhausted, after spending the court-ordered time with her mother. She calmed his overloads after he was bit. They knew each other instinctually. Better than they knew themselves in some ways.
And yet, there was never anything romantic.
Until there was.
They both knew. When they’d grown old enough to understand what love, marriage, and dating were, they knew it was inevitable. That there was no Peter without y/n.
And that is a very daunting thing to face at such a young age.
And they understood that there would be no going back once they crossed that line.
They knew they would cross it eventually.
But they had all the time in the world to cross it. And now, when they were so perfect as friends, neither wanted to risk what they had.
And so they didn’t.
There was flirtation that couldn’t be helped. There were touches that toed the line between platonic and romantic, touches that lingered. Nights where they would fall asleep next to each other and wake up in a state where you couldn’t tell where one started and the other ended.
But it never went further.
Until it did
They were good kids, really. Good students, excelling in their studies, involving themselves in extracurriculars, making a difference in their community. They were good avengers as well. They weren’t officially on the team, certainly were never put in harms way. But Tony allowed them to patrol the city in the evenings, and to train with the team at the compound on the weekends. They excelled there too.
But everyone has times when they just need a break.
It happened the first time during one of those breaks
.
They had finished midterms, Natasha had been kicking their asses in training for the last month, they were tired.
And so they snuck into the hangar and hacked one of the jets. Because she could override her father’s protocols without even blinking. Spain. She had wanted to go to Spain. He’d remembered her talking about it, so he puts in the coordinates and settles in for the ride.
They’ve shared a room, a bed, countless times at this point and yet somehow this is different. Somehow this leads to their mouths on each other and their virginities lost to each other.
Things change after that.
It takes a while for them to get over it. To admit “I want you” and “I always have” and “I don’t want to wait anymore”. But once they do, once they allow those walls to be broken down they are inseparable.
The funniest thing about the whole ridiculous situation is their behaviour barely changes.
They simply kiss now. Because they already spent nights in the others bed, they already were always touching the other somehow, they already could read the others mind and anticipate their needs. So at school, no one noticed they were dating until Peter gave her a quick kiss before running off to some sort of internship activity.
Its been years now. They are perfect. Ideal. He loves her with everything in him.
And that’s why, when the invasion starts, he webs her to the bed so she can’t follow after him as he goes toward the battle.
Why he goes to the battle despite her screams, her begging, her pleading. Why his last words as he disintegrates in Tony’s arms, after pleading whispers of “I don’t want to go” are “I don’t want to leave her.”
He spends five years living a life with no memory of his previous one. No memory of her, of Tony, of Spiderman.
When the dust finally settles after that final battle, he’s the one screaming, begging pleading. Because his girl, his brilliant, beautiful, reckless girl, simply refused to let her father die.
She’s always had them. The powers, the enhancements, that were so graciously forced upon her by her mother.
She hated them, hated why she ended up with them. But they gave her the ability to save Tony’s life, despite it being at nearly at the cost of her own.
He’s held back, not sure by whom. He hears Steve yell for assistance to get them both off the battle field and to get them immediate medical assistance.
Her powers are…complicated.
Her ability to heal is incredible. Whether it be herself or others. But it comes at a cost.
Healing takes energy. She’s able to choose, when healing injuries, whether to use the injured person’s energy or her own. The severity of the wound would usually influence her decision.
She was comfortable using someone else’s energy for smaller things, scrapes, bruises, most of Peter’s injuries because of his own accelerated healing. But bigger things…she would use her own “Because I heal better” she would say.
Like after he’d taken the weight of a building their sophomore year, she’d used her own energy to heal that. He watched the colour drain from her face, watched slashes and bruises come and go across her skin, watched her exhaust herself right in front of him as the pain eased from his body.
After a fight like this neither had the energy to heal something as severe as this. But she did it anyway.
She does heal better. Quicker, more efficiently. It’s hard to leave any kind of mark on her because her body just rids itself of it.
So she lay in a hospital bed, half dead, as her body begins to repair what should be fatal.
Tony was exhausted, on the brink of death, he’d had nothing left to use up. She herself had been spent. So she took, and she gave. She gave what little energy she had left to Tony and took as much pain and damage from him as she could. Took as much as she could until her body gave out.
Tony woke later that night. Exhausted. Badly scarred. Weaker than Peter had ever seen him.
But alive.
Peter is sitting at her bedside now, holding her hand in his. Needing to feel that it’s warm, needing physical proof that she’s alive. He’s fading in and out of consciousness. Fighting sleep because he can’t risk something happening while he’s asleep. It would be a restless, nightmare filled sleep anyway.
“Tony, we shouldn’t be arguing about this; you’re exhausted; you need to rest. We can talk about this la-“ He can hear Steve’s voice in the next room.
“We’re talking about this now.” Tony responds.
Peter, even with his heightened senses, can barely hear him. He tries to tune them out, focusing instead on her heartbeat. A comforting, familiar sound that lulls him into a sense of security.
But the next words he hears make his blood run cold, and his head snap up.
“He’s my grandson. He’s likely scared. He can’t have his mother, so let me see him.” Tony sounds angry despite his severely weakened state.
“Tony…” Steve says gently. “Look at yourself. You’ll only scare him more. He’s my grandson too. Let me look after him.”
Peter takes a moment.
Grandson.
Tony has no biological children other than y/n. There is Harley…a boy Peter’s age that Tony had taken in when they were thirteen. They’d been fast friends. And…maybe Harley could have had a child in the five years Peter had been gone…except he’d been in the same place as Harley for the last five years, and there was no child.
So…so that must mean that y/n had…that she’d had a child.
Sometime in the last five years she’d moved on…gotten pregnant…had a baby? He shakes his head, his chest aches. His feet move before he’s fully aware of it. He walks into Tony’s room. He stands there silently, until Steve notices him.
“Peter.” He whispers, a sigh in his voice.
Peter laughs weakly, tears on his cheeks that have no right to be there. It had been five years, he had no right to have expected her to wait five years. “I um…” He clears his throat, sniffing. “I didn’t mean to eavesdrop…it’s just so quiet here.” He says quietly.
“Kid ther-“ Tony starts but Peter holds up a hand.
“Don’t…don’t. It’s okay. You don’t need to defend…just…if there’s a way I can help? I could call his father, if someone hasn’t already or…or go pick up anything that he might need…or…or I can fuck off if you think that would be bett-“
“Peter.” Tony says as firmly as he’s capable of. Peter looks up. “Come sit. We need to talk.” He says, gentler now.
He’s four. His name is Ben. He’s with Happy. They won’t let him run to him. He’s four. His name is Ben. He’s with Happy. He can’t go to him. He’s four. His name is Ben. He’s safe with Happy. He’s safe. His name is Ben. He’s four. He’s Peter’s.
She had been pregnant.
It had been early.
So early that it had been months before she even realised. Half of the universe disappeared, Peter included.
And months later she had given birth to their son.
Their son.
Ben.
