Thoughts on rarijackdash, startrixburst, and chrysarmordance? For me, these are personally my favorite mlp ot3s

I personally hc that Rainbow Dash actually does enjoy dressing up(a la g3 Rainbow Dash, but only occasionally), so other than modeling(cuz she doesn't like sitting still) she actually enjoys Rarity's work(besides, both AJ and RD are like the heroes in Rarity's tropey adventure romance books, with one being strong and brave, and the other being swift and cunning), and there's just something about Rainbow and Applejack's constant competitiveness

I could NEVER break up startrix, and for starburst I really enjoy the childhood friends dynamic. I've actually consumed more mlp fan content than the actual show or comics, so I don't know much about Trixie and Sunburst's dynamic, so they might be better as queer-platonic, but I do enjoy the hc of them both being trans(Trixie being transfem and Sunburst being transmasc)

I think it would be sweet if two beings of love were wives, but it would funny if they were also the wives of Just Some Guy(TM)

rarijackdash - This one is pretty funny, because i see exactly what you find appealing about it, its like a love triangle that ends in a polycule n stuff. Rarity keeping the competition going because she likes both of them and loves them fighting for her affection is very cute; but i have never even concidered this one, because there is no world in my mind in which between AJ and RD competing for someone's romantic affections (specialy rarity) that applejack wouldn't win by a landslide everytime, lmao. I'm sorry to rainbow dash fans but the girl is tragicaly self centered and nigh charmless; but i definitely see the potential on what you mean! (also ive recently discovered that Rainbow had closer to rarity's personality on g3 which is very fun) Though hey, i see the potential you mean! its a cute trio. (rarijack has made me mentally ill though i love it too much. 20 pages in to writing a shrek1 but its rarijack fic and i'm not stopping) Okay now the case with startrixburst is an peculiar one, because although sunburst is def one of the best male characters in the show, thats also an incredibly low bar, so i never really thought of it; i do find it funny for a failpolycule of unicorns centered around the biggest failgirl of all time, starlight tho. Worth stating i never paid much mind to the childhood friends backstory because it pissed me off that starlights backstory is "i was traumatized bc i was inconvenienced as a kid and now i'll make it everyones problem" its hard to salvage a character after such a weak ass backstory. But hey, it does seem to come naturaly to make this polycule trio, i aint got nothin against it! (lord knows the startrix dynamic is impecable though) Okay in the case of chrysarmordance, this might be my favorite of all three because like. i thought of how bland shining and cadance's relationship was on the show, then i thought of how simple Cadance and chrysalis would be, but if you stick her boy in the middle; suddenly something really fucking funny happens. Whether its two beings of love arguing over 1 white boy, or if its Shining getting cucked by a bug monster, the entire thing becomes fucking hilarious, with such a potential for hilarious jokes. Alright imma do something i normaly wouldnt do and show some disjointed notes of a multiverse story i'm writing because it's pertinent to this ship and also fucking hilarious.

💌 A fic that inspired you to create something for it

To be very frank with you, my knee-jerk reaction was to cringe because my very first thought was to remember that I wrote a fanfic for a fanfic once. I really loved a particular fanfic very much, but it's linked to an old friend group and bad memories and a lot of hurt. Hurt that was, oddly enough, stirred back up today by another means. (I love hearing that my old friends are still naming and shaming me in their fan club of hundreds of people 😬)

The fanfics I wrote have been orphaned since then. And while this feels like perhaps too much information...I feel called to share all the same. I remember being so proud of that work and putting so much love and care into it only to now feel regret, I think. I am a lady with a lot of passion and a lot of love, and I've felt so self-conscious in my life about being "too much"...and now I feel deeply humiliated in so many ways. And deeply hurt all over again.

So perhaps I'm sharing this to say...for all the joy fandom has, it has its shadows, too.

But also to say...for all of the fear and all of the pain, I never stopped sharing.

Had I not been proactive in building a new path for myself when I left. Had I not been so dedicated to staying in fandom...I might not be here now. Had I ducked my head in shame, I might never have stood up again.

In spite of how awful that whole experience was, and how awful it continues to be nearly two years later, I'm still here! Still reading, still commenting, still making friends. Still creating!

There are people in fandom who genuinely care about me. Who want me for more than hits or kudos or comments. Who want me for more than what I can do for them. Decent people who have treated me with respect, even when our paths diverged. Wonderful people who support and encourage me, for better and worse.

More than that, I realized my own power. I finally taught myself that I deserve more. That I deserve respect and compassion, and that if others can't or won't give them to me, then I can at least give them to myself.

And in the time since, I've learned that one horrible experience doesn't mean every experience will be horrible.

Which leads me to, finally, actually answering your question!

There is something very scary about being so moved by a work, especially now. There is a greater hesitation to reach out and let myself be that inspired by another work, and to also put it out there, and have my love be known.

But, well...I've written many a fic rec for various fics! Various rec lists. More specifically, I've made title banners for a few fics I love! I'll share them here, actually. All of them, even the bad ones I cringed at!

And however scary it is, I hope I never stop indulging in my enthusiasm. I hope I never stop reaching out to others and sharing myself with them. Even with the risk involved, what I've gained in this community has been worth all that I've lost along the way.

There are so many great connections to be made. With fellow fans, with creators. It's worth being able to brighten someone's day with a kind word or even a "I've been frothing at the mouth over your work so I made this thing, I hope that's cool" because 9 times out of 10 that is, in fact, very VERY cool. There is so much to be gained from each other and I hope I remember that, even in the hardest times.

GOOD QUESTION. i used to have a lot of plans with my favorite fics but im not really into dsmp/dteam anymore for. various reasons that i will not get into :|. and so most of my plans with fan binding fell to the wayside jhgbfhdjbhjd thats okay though!! because it means i can make new plans!!

obviously, like i said - i would love to do a collection of shorter one shots! still mostly dsmp lol but i got quite a few gift fics from my friends from that fandom and i would LOVE to compile those into a collection for myself!! really just. my friends' fics in general, i think would be fun to have like a short story collection that i can just read whenever. i would wanna break them up into individual fandoms, i could almost do like, a series for myself... that would be AWESOME oh my god. matching covers but with different inner art? SO COOL

if i had to make a plan off the top of my head for just ONE fic though... id love to bind elephants by saltsanford, a rvb tuckington fic (not linking since it IS an explicit fic haha), its been one of my favorite fics ever for YEARS now. i think that would be pretty minimalist since it has an aesthetic of like, snow? and id want to fit that lol but its SO GOOD and i love to read it and id love to have a pristine physical copy of it on my book shelf!!

FOR DNDADS FICS. chrysalis by @kaseyskat, probably!!! literally has been one of my favorite dndads fic ever since i read it, i come back to it so often. it was my introduction to the world of transfem sparrow (and transmasc norm, though i had already decided that for myself LMAO) and well. we all know that i love her <3 very fond memories of rereading this fic several times to get through my thesis LMAO i would love love love to make myself a physical copy of it :D i could use really pretty paper and i think it would fit a nice green book cloth cover SOOOO nicely. itd be amazing (especially now that nyx and i are friends. makes it even more special, ehehe).

Thank you, I’m so happy you enjoy the recs! I tend to avoid reading about childhood abuse so I’m probably not the best person to answer this one. One rec I have to share is The Body Keeps Score. This also made me think of Femme’s As Souls From Bodies Steal although in that one Draco’s abused by Yaxley in his late teens and not as a child. I hope my followers can help with more suggestions!

Most hits: In the Warmth of Friends, a fic in which the interplay between two artifacts helps bring Christina back, and Helena and Myka both have to adapt to that. This is my most popular fic by almost any metric on AO3, and I'm super happy that it reverberates with so many people!

Second most kudos: What Goes Around Comes Around (That Halloween Story), how very timely! At Halloween, the walls between the worlds are thin, and someone from eighteen-nineties London might find themselves in twenty-tens Brooklyn. This fic was a beast to write, and I was so glad to be done with it; and now I'm so happy that people like it so much!

Third most comments: At the Heart of the Paradox, a Doctor Who crossover with lots of timey-wimey shenanigans and the most dreadful ending I ever wrote. But don't worry, there's a part two! I actually hand-drew a timeline for this fic, so that I could be sure the wibbly-wobbly-ness checked out. Really happy with how it turned out!

Fourth most bookmarks: And Now You, my behemoth (264K words!!) of a high school AU, in which Helena is an exchange student sent to Colorado Springs, and Myka the ace student who befriends her. When I had finished writing this fic, it was *just* the beginning of September, so I published it "in real time" (much like Dracula Daily), uploading each chapter on the day that the events in that chapter happened. (And yes, I had a calendar for that. In fact, I had a multi-column table (color-coded, of course) to keep track of the timeline for this fic!)

Fifth most words: Quickening, the only not-Warehouse-13 fic in this list! This is a Star Trek Voyager fic, with some TNG characters thrown in the mix. It is also part 3 in a series that itself is a continuation of an earlier series, the entirety of which was my first foray into fan fiction at the tender age of 33 😅 Still very near and dear to my heart!

Least words: A Dancing Tortoise, a double drabble set in my Chrysalis series, about one of the songs from the Carnival of Animals, and Helena's musings over it.

Hi! I've been making my way through your Neighbours and Butterflies series since you posted a snippet of Chrysalis, and I'm really enjoying it!! I’ve just finished Rampage now. All the references and extra characters you've woven in—Frost, Black Lightning (!!), Oliver (!!!)—mental health being acknowledged (!!!!) (I love the Arrowverse shows, but they're. not the best in that regard :/). I also love how you've written Eobard. And Singh knowing!! 1/3

I really like how you’ve written that whole story with the old captain and Ralph!! I’m not the biggest fan of salt, but I understand it here, and really appreciate how you've handled Joe (/gen! I really hope that doesn’t come across as offensive!) Oh, and Roy Bivolo!! (clarifying Bivolo because we have like three Rays and two Roys) I loved that episode in canon mostly because of the crossover (read: the Olivarry! :D), but I really liked how you’ve characterised him here and developed him. 2/3

I think the backstory you’ve given him is really cool too!! The only tiny thing I didn’t like was his use of the term “Asperger’s”, as that’s a bit outdated. (Again, I really enjoyed the fic and your worldbuilding and hope I’m not being too rude by saying that! /g) Anyway, thank you for writing and sharing this lovely series; I’m off to read the next parts! ♡♡♡ 3/3

Took me a bit to get around to these, but first off thank you so much for all the lovely compliments Anon. :D It's always great to hear from someone who enjoy's my fics.

I think one of the things I really enjoyed about the Arrowverse was how interconnected it all really feels? It was a bit stilted at first and took some growing into, but they took something that I previously associated the most with Star Trek or CSI - an interconnected tv-show verse - and really set the bar high. So it's always fun for me to try and maintain that interconnection in my fics.

And yes, so many Rays and Roys in these shows. And the number of Noras in the Arrow-verse... or even just on The Flash alone. They've definitely averted the one Steve limit, that's for sure. :D

Joe is definitely one of those characters that I love, but sometimes in a bit of a tough love sort of way since the man does have his flaws that he struggles with. And I do like to give Barry and Iris the space to call him out on those, which can be a bit of a balancing act to write sometimes. But ultimately what I like about him so much is that he genuinely loves his children and wants the best for them - so he expects the best of himself in being there for them. It doesn't always work out and sometimes he goes a little too far in one direction or another (overprotectiveness with Iris, being too much of a friend than a father w/Wally at first) but how much he loves his kids is just really nice to see. And this series in particular was one where I wanted the low points of his S1 behavior called out with while giving him plenty of space to learn from his mistakes and actively do better. Writing his PoV for the Thanksgiving fic was a lot of fun.

With Roy Bivolo, I think if I were to write that fic now then I'd leave out the word 'Aspergers'. I know more about it's history now and... yeah. Not great. It's something that I might address later with editing. Or I might address it in universe? But... i'm more likely to edit and leave a note about it. My reasoning at the time was that when Roy most likely would have been diagnosed, it's a term that would have come up as part of his autism diagnosis - if not the official diagnosis itself. I wanted to show Roy's experiences with autism as being notably different from Jerrie's once I finally have her show up - admittedly not for a while - and to have part of that being their experiences with being diagnosed itself. And while that still stands... I can still have them demonstrate their varied experiences as being diagnosed-autistics (Hartley is definitely undiagnosed but he masks too well for his own good and I haven't actually mentioned that in text yet and dunno when I will) without having to continue using the term aspergers. So thank you for reminding me that I do need to figure that out when I return to this series.

Len finding the bugs was a lot of fun for me to write. I knew I wanted to give Len more to do in the series, but also that a bit of a teaser/cliffhanger would be fun to do too. (I am a bit of a mad scientist cackling maniacally when I write cliffhangers. ^_^ ) And that epilogue scene was an excellent place to indulge both impulses. There's also now a direct line from Len finding those bugs to Len deciding he needs to do more to protect Barry and that'll be something Barry both appreciates and is annoyed by in turns as the series progresses.
