Screw it, more civilian Talia AU

I was originally gonna wait for 10 likes on my last post, but I’ve had this in my head for so long and I can’t hold it in anymore.

So when we last left off, Damian had just been born. Nothing that memorable happened other then reporters attempting to break in to the room and quickly being stopped by Dick, Jason, or Tim (they took turns in the waiting room while the other two were at home prepping the nursery).

Once Talia had gotten home and gotten settled in, she would not the take the doctors advice about being on bed rest because she is Talia Al Ghul and an Al Ghul can handle it. So, she goes and finishes her teaching degree (online of course, she had three boys and a baby to take care of), and begins teaching at Gotham middle school.

While there, a certain student catches her eye. She’s overheard the rumors of her father, the Cluemaster, and decides to see if their true. She wishes to approach her and talk, but is afraid of scaring her. She knows all about being ashamed of family. She gets her moment when one Stephanie Brown comes knocking on her door for tutoring.

Talia of course invites Stephanie over for after school sessions. The young girl is surprised that Talias house feels so… welcoming. She immediately gets along with the boys, especially Tim since their the closest in age, and starts staying longer then the sessions. She eats dinner with them most days of the week, helps take care of Damian, and knows that Talia will carefully help heal any injuries and not ask where they come from, even if it’s obvious.

Before anyone realizes it, she’s sharing a room with Tim and has joined the breakfast table.

Things go a little downhill, in the way that Talia suspected to happen sooner or later. She gets a letter signed from her father. Apparently he had found her at last after years and wanted her to meet someone who would take her home. Talia of course knew it was a trap, but still went, leaving Dick in charge in of the house.

At the meeting place, she saw an old friend of hers. Lady Shiva. She explained that Talia had to come home and take her place of the rightful heir. Talia refused, taking out her sword that she hadn’t used in years, and then duel begun.

Talia didn’t end the duel as quick as she hoped. Her body was still recovering from the pregnancy, and she wouldn’t admit it but she was out of practice. Through all of that, she manages to beat and give a merciful end to Shiva. She is about to leave before she hears the sounds of a child sniffling. She opens the closet and finds one small Cassandra Cain.

Talia feels a small tinge of guilt at the knowledge that she had taken this girls mother from her, and knew she had to take her in. After learning the hard way Cassandra was never trained to speak, Talia immediately was set on having the entire family learn sign language.

As usual, it didn’t take long for Cass to warm up to the family. She was especially close to Jason, and loved resting her head on his lap while he read out loud to her. Steph was quick to teach her ‘girl things’ and take her shopping for new clothes. All and all it was good.

Time skip a little bit, and Talia has officially a foster parent at this point. I should also mention that they moved into a bigger house at this point. Not a mansion (yet) but a bigger house. As a certified foster parent, Talia is asked to parent a girl named Harper Row, along with her little brother Cullen, and weeks later a small Duke Thomas.

It takes longer for the three kids to settle in then the others. Harper is paranoid that this house will be like her last one and is constantly on guard, Duke is still recovering from the trauma of losing his parents to the Joker, and Cullen is a just a toddler who doesn’t understand what’s going on. It’s takes a long time of building trust and a lot of convincing from their new siblings, but they learn to love their new home.

I’ll end this part off with a bat-kid I don’t think is talked about very much. Carrie Kelly. Carrie has very neglectful and addicted parents, which mostly causes her to fend for herself and sneak out at night. One night while she’s eating out, she spots a man trying to rob an old lady. She distracts the man and let to woman get away, but is injured in the process.

Luckily, Talia was grabbing stuff for Jason at the bookstore across the street, and upon seeing what was happening rescued Carrie and took her home to set her injuries. Once they were bandaged, she asked Carrie where she lived. Carrie told her, though it was obvious in her eye that she didn’t wanna go back. Talia offered to let her stay, and Carrie became one of the flock.

Don’t worry, there will be a part four in a couple of days. I’m not done just yet.

Listen i know its been a month. I was struggling to find motivation, but let’s just get into it now.

When we last left off, the family consisted of:

Dick, Jasón, Tim, Damian, Steph, Cass, Duke, Harper, Cullen, and Carrie.

Things were settling into a rhythm. All the kids had their schoolwork and hobbies, Talía had her job a teacher, and the house was thriving. Everything was going great.

Then Talía read the news one day. The headliner of ‘Happily married couple Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle divorce after pregnancy announcement’ doesn’t surprise her. She just moves on with her life, or she attempts too.

After a house fire causes young Terry McGinnis and his younger brother Matt to lose their parents, their taken into foster care and given to Talía. Matt almost immediately warms up to her, running around like the excited child he is. Terry took a lot longer as he missed his biological parents, but after a while they molded into the routine of the house.

At this point Talía has 12 kids (including a baby and two toddlers) and she needs a bigger house. She starts trying to work overtime, but it isn’t needed. Alfred shows up at her door one day with a $1.000.000 check, saying “Master Bruce said you would need this.” Talía is suspicious but still uses the check to buy a good sized mansion (not as big as the Wayne’s, but good enough). Talia is impressed with the size, and jokes that she could adopt even more kids now.

That doesn’t stay a joke for long, because one Helena Bertinellie shows up in her life. A runaway after her parents were murdered, Helena ran into Talía after she had gotten in legal trouble for being an unaccompanied minor. Talia bailed her out and took her in so she wouldn’t have to go into foster care. Helena soon got into the grove of the home as she took up art to cope.

Talia thought that she would have a break afterwards, possibly not having to adopt a child in a while, but of course that doesn’t happen. Just a week or so later, two siblings popped into her life. Claire Clover and Henry Clover Jr. Their parents had left town and left them behind. Talia was again gifted these foster kids and took care of them. Once she found out about their powers, she decided to homeschool them for their own safety.

To her surprise, months later, Selena Kyle showed up at her door with a baby in hand. She said that with her life, she couldn’t take care of her. Talia sympathized with the woman and took the baby in. Selena told her the babies birthday and name, and the left. Helena Wayne was the newest addition to Talias family.

Now, its complicated for Luke Fox and Barbara Gordon. Both have living fathers, but Talía has babysat them enough times to where they feel like part of the family. Barbara likes coding and has made little games for the children, and Luke has gotten into Basketball and has matches with Jasón every time he comes over.

When Talía wakes up and see her kitchen full of children, she realizes she doesn’t regret a thing.

Talia and Selina love story!!

As I’ve said, Selina left her daughter Helena with Talia due to her having a dangerous life as Catwoman. She of course pops around for a visit often to both see her little girl and (not that she’d ever admit it) to see Talia.

After her divorce with Bruce, she and Talia started having wine nights where they’d talk shit about him. They started getting closer, Catwoman being seen patrolling with Cassowary more often then not.

The kids all love Selina, especially Jason. Selina appears at all the kids school events, so much that people have asked if she’s an aunt or something. Talia always replies that she’s just a friend that helps take care of them.

The kids ship it hardcore.

Dick is known to give Talia advice (Yes Talia does take advice from her 14 year old but IT WORKS-), Jason loves inviting Selina over for dinner when he knows Talia is gonna dress up that night (she likes to feel pretty sometimes), and Tim constantly keeps tabs on their chats and ‘friendly outtings’ with his hacking skills. Steph and Cass both give Talía gifts to give to Selina when she finally admits to her kids that yes, she has a love problem.

Selina is given the same treatment, just from the sirens. Harley teases her about her dates with ‘Lil miss assassin’ while Ivy is growing a bouquet of Talias favorite flowers. When Alfred goes to give her Bruce’s monthly child support payment, even he’ll ask how her relationship is with Miss Al Ghul.

It takes a few months of romantic outings (and some meddling from friends and kids) to get them to start actively flirting. Selina tends to constantly compliment Talias evergreen eyes, while Talia loves running her hands through Selina’s black curls.

The last straw that gets them together is during a mission.

Talia is mortally injured while fighting Bane. While she doesn’t have the Lazarus pit to heal her like she did while with her father, the effects of it make it so that she knows she’ll survive. Selina doesn’t however. In an act of blind rage she almost kills Bane, before Dick stops her.

Before Talia could explain that she wasn’t dying, Selina professed her love for her, going as far to say that if she had a second chance she would chose to marry Talia over Bruce.

Talia is stunned, but immediately pulls Selina in for a kiss. Dick is practically squealing while recording the whole incident. Afterwards, Dick explains to a confused and slightly pissed Selina that Talia technically can’t die, and Selina flushes hard. Talia can’t help but laugh with Dick as Selina carry’s her hole to be patched up.

Then starts their relationship, with Selina moving in with the kids and becoming their second mama. You can bet Dick bragged for days about being the one to witness it. And Bane… well he stayed in Arkham for a lot longer then usual, not wanting to be met with a pissed Catwoman again.

So, I’m sure all of you are wondering a certain something about my Civilian Talia AU

Do they become vigilantes?

The answer is complicated enough to warrant its own post.

The short answer?: Yes

The long and thought out answer?: Yes, but not in the way they do in cannon

Like said in my first ever post, Talia was watching over Dick at all times when she and Bruce were still together, so he never discovered that his father was Batman. He did however still look up to Batman, and was still as determined to avenge his parents.

Dick was always a peaceful child, so when he asked Talia to teach him how to fight, she was surprised. He managed to avoid telling her the reason why until he accidentally let it slip. Talia was worried about her son becoming a vigilante, but decided that if that was what he wanted, then the only choice was to go with him to keep him safe.

Well Gotham, introducing The Cassowary and her sidekick Robin (still keeping that name cause of the connection between Dick and his parents).

Of course, there encounters with Batman… but I’ll make a separate post if the people want that.

How do the others fit in? Well..

At this moment in time, only Dick and Talia are vigilantes, but in the future the other will take on their respective roles (with some names changing-). That’ll be a fun sheet to right.

Alright peeps, lets get into this

Civilian Talia Al Ghul AU

Basically what the AU says. Instead of staying in the league, Talia decided to run away as a teenager and ran to Gotham. There, she entered herself into Gotham academy, where she met one Brucie Wayne. They fell in love, and got married soon after graduating.

For their 3 year anniversary, Bruce decides to take Talia to the Halley’s Circus after finding out shes never been to one. This is of course where Dick Graysons parents die. Bruce takes him in hesitantly with reassurance from Talia.

With Talia staying home to take care of Dick, she keeps an eye on him at all times, therefore he never finds the secret clock and never knows about his father being Batman. Talia slowly finds that Bruce isnt really fit the raise children. After he yells at Dick one too many times after galas or hard nights as Batman, Talia and him start arguing. After enough of those, Talia calls a divorce. She asked Dick who he picks to go with, and Dick choose Talia, having spent more time with her.

That’s… about the bit of it. I have stories planned for the other bat kids if you want it. Just ask ig.

Damm i- didn’t think anyone would want more but ok-

So where did we leave off last time… oh right. Talia had taken custody of Dick, and had moved into a small urban neighborhood. She started going to online collage to become a teacher and earn money for the family, while still taking Dick to school. One day, months after the divorce, she parks in an alley way to deliver something to a friend. And when she comes out, guess who she sees taking her tires?

The poor kid is scared she’s gonna hurt him, but she just asks him if he needs somewhere to stay, offering him to live with her and Dick. He refuses at first but with some encouraging talk as they work together to fix the car, he comes with her.

And Jason Todd joins the family.

Things are looking up. Talia has two little boys who she loves more then anything in the world, she’s working on getting her teaching degree, and everything’s going pretty well. Well, until Bruce invites her to a gala.

Talia doesn’t want to go, but she knows it’ll be all over the news if she doesn’t. Their divorce was still on the medias front, even almost a year after. So, she reluctantly hires a babysitter, and arrives.

After spending some time talking with the rich and attempting to hide from Bruce, she comes across a little Timothy Drake. The drakes pawn him off on Talía for a while so they can socialize without a child at hand. Talia is happy to watch him, and Tim is immediately drawn to her. She reminds of his mother, but she yells less.

After the Drakes come back to retrieve their child, a drunken Bruce Wayne finds Talia and courts her. Talia herself isn’t in her right mind either, so she accepts his courtship, and they spend a drunken night together. Once Talia awakes, her first thought is Dick and Jason. She rushes homes and is happy to find them safe.. but surprised to see one Tim Drake in the living room.

Tim’s visits start happening more and more, first starting off with him spending a few hours there after school, and slowly developing into him staying the night and eating breakfast in the morning. The Drakes aren’t concerned about where their son is, which causes Talia to ask Tim about how they treat him. Tim outright tells Talia he’d rather live with her, and then the case against the Drakes for custody begins.

Talia wins, and Tim joins the family.

Now, you might be asking how Damian comes to be since Talia and Bruce aren’t together. Well, remember that drunken night at the gala? That ends in Talia being pregnant with Damian.

Talia doesn’t even think about it, she knows she wants to keep the baby. She doesn’t care if it’s Bruce’s. She’ll love it all the same.

Dick, Jason, and Tim take care of their mother while she pregnant, and they won’t admit how excited they are for their new sibling. When Talias water breaks, Jason had luckily just gotten home from school and could call the ambulance. The baby is born, and it’s a boy. Talia looks at it, and a name immediately comes to mind. Damian.

Oh god damm this is getting long.

Anyways, references aside, there are some details I’ve been wanting to share for a while!!

Here’s are something to remember:

Unlike Bruce, Talia is ok with having more then one Robin at a time. ‘Robin’ in this AU is more of a title meaning “ok, you’re still in training”. She only takes one Robin with her a night though as to not confuse herself.

Here’s an (extremely) vague timeline of events.

-Dick first introduced the idea of being a vigilante to Talia

-Robin and The Cassowary make their first appearance in Gotham

-At some point, the entire family has been Robin at some point, Damian being the only one to not earn another title.

-The only other shared title is batgirl, being shared between Steph, Barbara, and Cass, with Carrie being the current Batgirl

-Main tragedies do happen. Jason dies, Barbara is shot, etc. What happened after May differ though

Next, let’s share some name changes and WHY:

Red Hood to Cardinal: Now, Jason’s Red Hood phase does happen, but unlike in cannon Talia is able to convince him to be less violent. He is able to leave that phase behind and then chooses to become cardinal as a way to kind-of rejoin the family.

Red Robin to Flinch: Red Robin was just a dumb name ok.

Terry becomes Ibis??: Since Batman is still around, Terry has no reason to take on the Batman label. Soo he becomes Ibis instead. His brother Matt also gets into the vigilante biz and becomes WoodPecker (name may change if I find a less silly bird name.)

Cullen gains a persona?: yep! Cullen Row does not have a canonical persona so I gave him one. Bluejay! Not only is Bluejay a small bird, BUT IT MATCHES HIS SISTER- COME ON ITS ADORABLE-

Civilian Talia AU: Vigilante sheet

Haven’t had ideas in almost a month, so I decided to make the vigilante sheet for the Civilian Talia AU.

REMINDER: At the current time, Talia and Dick are the only CURRENT vigilantes. The rest of the are vigilantes in the future, once their older. It’s like a right of passage once they turn 13.

Talia: The Cassowary

The Cassowary is considered one of the most dangerous birds, so I figured it fit.

Dick: Robin-Nightwing

Not much changed here.

Jason: Robin-Red Hood-Cardinal

Yeah, Jason still dies. Still come back as Red Hood, but he also rejoins the family afterwards and comes back as Cardinal

Tim: Robin-Finch

Red Robin is just dumb ass fu-

The future timelines Robin

Stephanie: Robin-Batgirl-Spoiler

Order of Robin and Batgirl is changed, since Stephanie starts as Robin in this AU, then strikes out as Batman’s sidekick for a year after a fight, then comes back as Spoiler

Cassandra: Robin-Batgirl-Black Bat-Orphan

…It’s complicated. By this point, Batman and Cassowary have made a comprise that Batgirl could be used by her apprentices (Because “Batman works alone”), so yeah. Also, everyone is going to start out as Robin, even those who were never canonically Robin.

Duke: Robin-Lark-Signal

Not much changes here either.

Barbara: Robin-Batgirl-Oracle

Nothing much changes here. Barbara still gets shot by Joker and becomes Oracle.
