this is just my opinion, please don’t come for me if u disagree :)

i was a bit disappointed with this season ngl, definitely my least favorite season of the series so far

action sequences were really good but i felt like a few episodes were just straight meaningless action scenes and that definitely felt unnecessary to me

WAY TOO MANY BIG JOHN SCENES oh my god look i get it, it’s a miracle the guy turned up alive and shit but i am not john b i do not give two shits about this rather mean looking man and i felt like he was on my screen more than the main cast

shoutout to his actor tho. he did a great job portraying him

i thought i would be a jiara shipper but i don’t like them together at all… i lowkey hate that the writers now literally paired kie with every guy of the pogues when that seems so out of character for her

saw a post about kie being lesbian and you know what? y e s. even though i think a love interest wouldn’t be necessary for her to begin with

i’m a jjpope girlie sorry their chemistry is just chef’s kiss but it’s never gonna happen bc according to the writers there’s not a single gay on that silly lil island

(it’s completely fine if you do ship them bc they did have chemistry in the previous seasons)

not the sarah x topper drama getting reused from last season… i love sarah but girl what the hell

speaking of topper i thought it was fun how they included him in the train heist

but the way sarah manipulated him and used him… i’m no fan of his at all but i did feel for him bc he pulled so much for her and she went straight back to john b 😭

the main villains (ward and rafe) of the past two seasons became pretty much irrelevant this season?? huh???

rafe did a near complete 180 out of nowhere… which was strange

like this man’s whole trauma was solely fixed on getting love and respect from his father and the whole donating the cross situation really sucked if you look at it from rafe’s perspective but i do not believe that THAT was all it took to suddenly become so hostile towards ward. even if he still ended up saving him.

this guy was so stuck in the cycle of violence from the pilot up to the final episode of season 2 and his character development was so interesting to see (that scene in s2 when he says he’s not okay and needs help and ward tells him to man up still stuck with me) and it feels like they threw it out of the window and pretty much sidelined his character for no reason at all.

they’re such a fun dynamic like give me that please i’ve been asking for this before s2 even came out

the pogues had pretty much 2 scenes together and that’s it… i had hoped to see more of them and their dynamics and just more of them on that deserted island??? wasted potential oh my god

is it just me or was the filming style a lil different this season…

wasn’t rafe’s love interest supposed to be a bigger thing? because the few scenes he shared with her were completely irrelevant and so was her entire character tbh 😭

rafe and kie teaming up… was awesome i loved it

jj and kie running into pope and cleo when they were just about to get off the bus and immediately had to run from people with big ass guns is peak obx energy and i thought it was hilarious

i audibly gasped at the time jump!! such a weird way to end the season, it almost seemed like a series finale but knowing that season 4 is already confirmed i’m genuinely wondering what direction they’re gonna take this. the root of it all was that they were looking for the treasures because some of them were connected to it in their own ways (john b and the royal merchant bc of his dad, pope and the cross/denmark tanny bc family) and rafe and ward were perfect villains up until this season.

if there’s something i want to see in the next season, it’s just more pogue scenes, strengthening their own characters and developments and their dynamics with the other pogues. we really do not need the same romance drama every season. it’s boring and frankly annoying. honestly in this show there’s so much going on that i don’t feel like each one of the pogues needs to end up with someone. i would love to have jarah and jjpope as endgame and have kie and cleo end up solo or maybe have other love interests (but not really).

just give me the pogues doing what they do best — bickering while they’re off chasing some mystery and putting their lives at risk and miraculously getting out of it alive and well.

because season 3 was just weird. really weird. idk this is all for now but i might add more later!

Martyn fancies himself a schemer, someone who's not afraid to play the game the way it's intended. If that means earning a powerful ally's trust only to shatter it then he was going to do it. Only, Martyn's bark is worse than his bite, and every night he spends in lying awake in those soft, warm sheets that Ren had laid out just for him (freshly washed too, he might add. Smelled like sunshine) he wonders if he can do it. He can, of course. (he can't. he won't. he's too soft. soft and useless.) He'd cut his head off already. (he wants to vomit) (this is why no one needs you. wants you. loves you) Who cares about other people anyway? He is the only one who really matters. (the thought of being alone makes him want to cry) Ren, on the other hand, is a capable leader. The definition of loyal and dependable, if not a bit dramatic. He struggles with self-worth, being good enough, useful enough, powerful enough. But to others, he's the opposite, caring and protective of any who would ask for his aid. After all, every citizen deserves to live in safety and comfort, and providing that is what a good King would do. ~ Martyn's not as sneaky as he thinks he is. Ren knows. Ren sees the signs. It's a death game for a reason. But he doesn't let Martyn know. He doesn't even hold it against him. He doesn't see the bloodthirst anymore, only the broken pieces lying underneath. ~ or the King's Hand, it was the thrill of feeling Useful, Powerful, Feared (loved). He was going to miss it after he betrayed him, the high of bloodlust, the smell in the air as he charged into battle. (the way his hands held him so gently) For the King himself, deep down he knew it was never to be. He had met a monster, but he hoped his efforts calmed the storm ever so slightly. On some days, he pretends to forget about the death game entirely and imagines the speech he'd give to retire his Hand. "You don't have to fight anymore," he'd say, "I'll take care of you from now on, I promise. So put the sword down, okay?" But in the end, it was all a fantasy, wasn't it?

this is an unpopular opinion but since i love ur takes i would like your opinion on this. don’t u think the fandom sometimes forces so many dynamics between the pogues because they want all the pogues friendships to be equal? even when that’s realistically impossible. as a group, they all would fight for each other but the differences in loyalty will always be present.

you cannot ask jj to be loyal or open to sarah or cleo the same way he would with john b, pope or kie. it’s not realistic. i think that while he cares about sarah as a friend and has bonded with her. the reason him and pope even cared for her was because of john b, he loved her and therefore they extended their loyalty towards her. and i know people might disagree on this but if it came down to sarah or john b, i believe kie would put john b first. when ward “died”, her loyalty was towards john b. this is why it was a bit unrealistic for kiara to not be a little bit more upset over her cheating on john b. i wish the writers would’ve done a better job on making us believe in the friendship between kie and sarah but so far the dynamic between the og pogues seems to be the most believable and organic.

now with the added romantic pairings, you can expect them to put their significant other first. john b has put sarah over his friends multiple occasions even if indirectly. he did so very directly in this finale against his dad. i would imagine pope will start to experience a similar switch with cleo if presented with the challenge and of course, i think we all know that if it comes down to the pogues plans or kiara – he will pick kiara. he was ready to ditch the gold and to delay john b’s plan to safe his dad for kiara. and this is actually an interesting plot for the pogues. how willing are they to put their lives in danger now that they are not longer just a friend group with a common goal? but there’s romantic partners in the mix… it used to be only sarah, now there’s more players in the game.

As far as I know, I haven't encountered people trying to force pogue friendships? But I don't read a lot of fic so it may be happening in spaces I'm not in.

I think that loyalty is a central idea to the show, for sure, and we see varying levels of that across dynamics and in different circumstances -- family, found family, friendships, and romantic relationships. I think that the 'deserted island for a month' thing was meant to enhance and reinforce the pogues love and loyalty for each other, including Sarah and Cleo.

re: the Kie & Sarah dynamic, I understand what you mean about Kie's reaction to Sarah cheating on John B, but we have to remember that Sarah and Kie had a relationship -- a very deep, intimate one -- before the show began. Kie was hurt by her betrayal, but after Sarah's apology in season one and everything else they've been through together since, I think Kie's loyalty to Sarah makes sense. Also, Kie had the context of what happened -- she got to see Sarah's deep guilt and shame over what she did, and while it's clear she doesn't approve of it, she understands where Sarah is coming from and wants to stand by her and help her repair her relationship with John B. I think at that point in the story, Sarah has proven her loyalty to the pogues several times over, and while Kie was nervous when she saw Sarah with Topper, the way that Sarah immediately ditched Topper and went with Kie ( I was CHEERING in that moment -- I was so hoping they weren't gonna force more Kie & Sarah conflict For The Drama), reassured her that Sarah's loyalty was in the right place. Also, Kie has a huge heart, and we know that she's very compassionate -- she loves animals, struggles to kill, even for survival, hurled herself off a tanker to save JJ, and risked her life to save the pilot. Kie giving Sarah the benefit of the doubt, hearing her explanation, and deciding to help her and still be her friend, I think, is still very much in character. I also wish we got more Kie & Sarah bonding scenes, but, the pates are men, and treasure rules the day.

I completely agree with what you said about John B and JJ, and their unfailing loyalty -- that trait is central to their characters and has already been a source of conflict for John B with his dad, and then also with JJ and Luke a little bit in season two. IN terms of Pope and Cleo, I don't think I could see Cleo putting Pope in a position to choose between backing her up or staying loyal to his friends, mostly because of Cleo's demonstrated loyalty to him and the rest of the group. Cleo grew up with no family, and I think that's the most important thing to consider when we look at her entrance into the pogues found family. Her instant loyalty makes a lot of sense -- these are the first people who have really showed that they care about her beyond what she can do for them. From the Pogues' side of things, Cleo has saved their lives (multiple times, I'm pretty sure), and is a valuable and valued member of the crew.

All in all, I think exploring the dynamics between all the members of the group is a really interesting thing to do in fan spaces, because we only get bits and pieces from the show. John B and Sarah, obviously, are already well-established with Cleo, as well as Pope, but we only see one moment of interaction specifically between her and JJ (when Cleo and Pope show up to the air strip), and so far, nothing between her and Kie. (Although it would be really interesting to see those two band together and bond over their experiences as black women, because Kiara hasn't had a friend who shares that life yet.) We see a lot of Sarah and Kie, but only one moment with Sarah and JJ (re: the overpass incident), and we know Sarah went to tell Pope about Rafe being back, but that happened offscreen.

For fic purposes, I think making them cohesive as a general crew makes sense, and while their are obvious differing levels of familiarity and friendship, I think loyalty, in this case, becomes transferrable. Sarah is loyal to JJ and Pope because John B is, and she trusts him. Same with Cleo to Kie and JJ with Pope. Also, even though some of the pogues have underdeveloped relationships with each other, I think they would still lay their life on the line for any of the other members, simply because they know that's what everyone else would do for them. This is illustrated especially by Cleo's loyalty and desperation to find Kie in the first two episodes, even though all of the development in their relationship happened off-screen, while surviving on the island for a month.

TL;DR - Basically, I don't think fans are forcibly or unrealistically depicting relationships between the pogues that don't know each other as well for two main reasons. 1) I haven't encountered it myself, and 2) by exploring and understanding evidence from canon, unfailing loyalty across all dynamics still makes an enormous amount of sense.

Clawdeen as this quirky nerdy girl - uh nope Clawdeen was my favorite character as a kid, i liked her confidence, her attitude and just how fucking cool she was man. Also Frankie was always meant to be the ‘main’ character since she’s the one who used to be the new girl and is the quirky odd ball who is used to be a way to introduce the world to the viewers since she’s also catching up with everything

Draculaura’s first scene in the trailer - I miss her pigtails but also I don’t think that’s how draculaura would say hi I think she’d bust out of the coffin and excitedly introduce herself and like go on some tangent she’s a bubbly character 

cleo is the mean girl - yeah she’s the mean girl but she’s also a good friend of clawdeen she’s also self absorbed but please do not make her the antagonist her sister and toralie suit it much better 

Lagoona where are u - I love lagoona I like her aesthetic and i love swimming and most creatures of the water also she has a great storyline with this other monster dude who’s name i cant remember and its a great plot that they’re from different waters and his family doesn’t like him being with someone like her. hjhgffghj no i actually would love to write a fic focused on him/the fairy fort but i tend to feel like u have to get art n writing done within a week in this fandom? bc otherwise it might not be canon anymore, and im just not that fast. so i hope u dont mind me just dumping all the concepts here anon

so one, he and lizzie are besties obviously. they have one braincell collectively. he brings her human blood. its all very cute. i like the idea of her being like, kinda pushy and overbearing towards him and ren after cleos death? like "u will move in with me. u will stay save. ren u can stay in ur tower if u want but u will have a place stay here if u need one." idk how in character it is, but just,, them being kinda disfunctional, but very close and sticking together at all costs.

then there is bigbs relationship to ren, which is less clear imo? bc obviously from lizzies pov she was relatively trusting that ren wouldnt kill her as the boogeyman, while cleo was absolutely not ("i took bigb away from there bc i dont trust ren" cleo... cleo u doubted ur wrong ally whos the boogeyman... cleo...) i think bigb agreed more with cleo? but he didnt really say anything about it. him reflecting on the different ways they went about being boogeymen would be funky to explore though. generally i dont think theyre close? but also it was ren who begged lizzie to let bigb stay intitially which is very interesting. i suppose they both sympathize with him a lot. also is that just me or does bigb treat ren more like the defacto leader of the alliance than lizzie? there has been quite a few times where he was like "ren said this" or "lets wait what ren says". im just saying, with all of rens and martyns talks, this might not be that inaccurate 👀

give me all the most awkward conversations about what happend. have them make a joke cleo used to make and cringe so bad when they realize. somebody calls someone else a superstar and they just die instantly. just,, them trying to act like everything is normal when it very much isnt. acting like there isnt somebody missing.

“What if he doesn’t want to see me?” Zuko asked. His amber eyes were transfixed on the tent before him.

“I think you know that isn’t true.” (Y/N) took his hand in hers and squeezed it. “I’ll be with the others if you need me.”

When the group awoke the next morning, Aang was gone. Each member searched high and low for the young Avatar, but to no avail. “I don’t really think this is the time for him to go on one of his special Avatar journeys,” Toph grumbled, to which (Y/N) hummed in agreement. As the group reunited after their searches, Zuko proposed the idea of utilizing the bounty hunter June and her shirshu Nyla in finding Aang. 

“Isn’t she the one who paralyzed me?” (Y/N) asked bitterly.

“And me?” Sokka chimed in. 

“And me?” Katara added. Zuko shrugged. 

“Her shirshu can track someone down from across a continent. If anyone can find Aang, it’s her.” (Y/N) was not interested in the idea of procuring a bounty hunter to find Aang, but it was their only hope. 

And that hope was quickly squandered. When they found June and convinced her to help them, her shirshu couldn’t locate Aang.

“Is he dead?” (Y/N) asked. June shook her head. 

“Nyla would be able to smell his body. Your friend isn’t in this world anymore.” What that meant exactly, the group had no idea. Even when Aang traveled to the Spirit World, his physical body remained in the physical one. How could he have just disappeared? 

“Try this, then,” Zuko said, holding up a piece of clothing to Nyla’s nose. The shirshu sniffed and immediately turned in the opposite direction, ready to dart off into the woods. 

“Whose is that?” Katara asked. 

“It’s my uncle’s. If anyone will be able to tell us what to do, it’s him.” 

Nyla led the friends to the outer wall of Ba Sing Se, where they were met by King Bumi, Master Pakku, and the other great masters they had met over their travels. 

“How do you all know each other?” Sokka asked. 

“We are all part of the Order of the White Lotus,” Piandao explained. “An organization that transcends loyalty to our nations and instead comes together to fight for the common good.” 

“Does that mean my uncle is here?” Zuko asked. Piandao nodded. The six friends were led into the main camps, where many tents had been set up to house other members of the Order. As (Y/N) passed, she recognized a few of the members as people she had known during her time traveling the three nations. Citizens of the Fire Nation that were also part of the Order seemed to be few and far between, but (Y/N) supposed their numbers deteriorated after nearly a hundred years of pro Fire Nation propaganda. 

The biggest tent of them all belonged to the Grand Lotus: Iroh. The rest of the group dispersed to discuss battle plans, leaving (Y/N) and Zuko paused just paces away from the entrance of the tent.

“What if he doesn’t want to see me?” Zuko asked. His amber eyes were transfixed on the tent before him. 

“I think you know that isn’t true.” (Y/N) took his hand in hers and squeezed it. “I’ll be with the others if you need me.” Her fingers slid from his and Zuko turned to watch her walk away before taking a deep breath and entering his uncle’s tent. 

(Y/N) sat between Sokka and Katara as they listened to Master Pakku describe the Order’s plans to liberate Ba Sing Se. He paused as she joined their group. 

“Ah, (Y/N). Glad to see you’re back in the clothes of your home nation.” It was a joke of course, a nod to the last time they had seen each other. 

When the Fire Nation was attacking the Northern Water Tribe, (Y/N) had felt defenseless while fighting off the Fire Nation soldiers, so she had unleashed her firebending on them. Soldiers from the Water Tribe had captured her as a spy and it had taken a lot of convincing from Katara that she really was trying to fight against the Fire Nation. It was an embarrassing misunderstanding that led to (Y/N) to choose hand-to-hand combat over her own firebending if she could help it. 

“Evening, Master Pakku,” (Y/N) said with a smile.

“Do you really think Iroh and the other firebenders will be powerful enough to take back the city?” Sokka questioned. Both Pakku and (Y/N) nodded. 

“His power as a firebender is unparalleled,” Pakku explained. 

“He might look like a sweet old man, but he is one of the best firebenders in the entire nation,” (Y/N) added. “I learned some of my best techniques from studying how he fought. Plus the comet will only make firebenders even more powerful.” 

“Yeah, but you’re fighting against Fire Nation soldiers,” was Sokka’s rebuttal. “Won’t they be more powerful too?” 

(Y/N) nodded. “I don’t mean to sound like a snob, but people like Iroh and I spent a lot more time training than those lousy soldiers. It’ll be a long fight, but not a hard one for Iroh.” 

Almost as if he had been summoned, Iroh exited his tent with Zuko as his side. (Y/N) recognized the glistening trails of tears on Zuko’s face, but also saw the happiness in his eyes. 

“(Y/N)!” Iroh cheered. She smiled widely and stood to run over and give him a hug. “It is very good to see you again.” 

“And you the same,” she said, giving him a bow. “It feels like just yesterday that we broke out of the Fire Nation prison.” 

“This is who broke you out?” Katara asked. Iroh chuckled. 

“You think I would let the only other sane person in the Fire Nation stay in jail?” They returned to the campfire to further discuss their plans for the comet. Iroh poured them all cups of tea as Zuko and (Y/N) sat next to each other. Katara was the only one who caught the look of surprise on his face and she returned it with a smile as she accepted her cup of tea. 

“Katara,” Zuko said. “How would you like to come to the Fire Nation to help (Y/N) and I take down Azula?” 

“It would be my pleasure,” Katara said with a grin. The situation still gave (Y/N) a heavy feeling in her stomach, but sometimes the right thing was the hardest thing to do. 

Eventually, (Y/N’s) friends and the other members of the Order dispersed from the campfire to retire for the night. Only (Y/N) and Iroh remained, finishing off the pot of tea. 

“I see you and Zuko reconciled,” Iroh hummed as he sipped his tea.” 

“For the most part, yes.” Iroh was the easiest person to talk to, (Y/N) found. When she was younger and had not even her own parents to turn to, if Iroh was visiting, he would lend her an ear. “I think I’ve forgiven him. Part of me still gets mad thinking about the things he’s done to me and my friends.” 

“That is only natural. The heart cannot forget the wounds that it has endured, but it can heal from them.” (Y/N) nodded. 

“I’m trying to.” 

“I always thought you and Zuko were the most interesting pair.” 

“How so?” Iroh sat in silence for a moment as he pieced his thoughts together. 

“You are strong in your beliefs. You are not afraid to be defiant if it means doing what is right. I remember when you were younger, I heard you arguing with your mother about why you should continue your firebending training. You told her that you did not care what she wanted you to do, because you knew becoming a better bender would make you stronger.” Iroh chuckled. 

“Zuko had told me to say that, so I could stay in training with him. She gave me the punishment of a lifetime after I said it.” 

“I am sure. But Zuko was not granted the same strength as you. He is loyal to the people he cares about, which is why it was so hard for him to choose what was right and wrong. He loved you and I but loved his father and Azula as well.” 

(Y/N) furrowed her brows. She wasn’t quite sure where Iroh was going with this, but then again, was anything he said ever straightforward?” 

“You pushed Zuko to make the right choices and he pushed you to stand up for yourself. As I watched you grow up, I noticed how you rotated around each other. Like the moon and tides, you and Zuko were always the driving force behind the other.” 

“Until he was banished.” 

“Zuko fought so hard to capture the Avatar because he wanted to restore his honor and return home to you. He will never admit it, but that is all he wanted.” 

“And I guess here I was, fighting against my home for doing horrible things and taking someone I cared about away from me.” 

“We are all connected, but no matter how hard you or Zuko tried to cut the thread that tied the two of you together, it is indestructible.” Iroh finished the last of his tea and stood. “You must rest. We all have a big day ahead of us.” 

(Y/N) watched as Iroh returned to his tent. She squashed out the dying fire. and made her way back to the tens she and her friends had been given. Katara and Toph slept in the first one, Suki and Sokka in the next, and Zuko lay fast asleep in the last one. 

(Y/N) crawled into the spot beside him, feeling the exhaustion of the day weighing heavily on her body. She lay on her back and instantly fell asleep. 

Katara woke the next morning and decided to rouse (Y/N) and Zuko first, since they would be traveling to the Fire Nation together. She pulled open the door to the tent to see (Y/N) snoring on Zuko’s chest, with Zuko’s arm wrapped tightly around her waist. 

Katara dropped the tent door and walked away. She could give them a few more minutes.

savannah, who is 5'9, is constantly teasing aaron and cleo for being short. katelyn's good at 5'6, and also a bit impossible to tease bcs she's the actual best, so she gets to escape this

cleo ( 5'2 ) is perfectly delighted to have someone shorter than her for once in her life, even by only 2 inches

and katelyn thinks it's ridiculously adorable how tiny aaron is and obviously she uses him as an armrest all the time

he relents, so long as she and cleo and katelyn ( who already gave him a birthday present?? why's she doing this??? ) don't spend too much money

sav drags him all around south carolina to the best thrift stores she can find and cleo and katelyn are amazed that she can get such fantastic deals on the supermodel clothes she wears

fr she's literally a fashion design major ( + minoring in business management ) and she shows up to class in skilfully done drugstore makeup and an absolutely killer outfit for like 15 bucks

she grew up poor, and she's still poor now, even if she ( thankfully ) managed to scrape a cheerleading scholarship

sav, flicking through a rack of dresses labelled $4 apiece: RIP to little miss rich bitch reynolds but i'm different ;)

no hate to allison she's awesome but she grew up in the lap of luxury surrounded by designer brands so she knows NOTHING about thrifting and rationing money in general

oh and sav and allison have kind of a frenemies thing going on bcs they're both fighting for the top spot of their fashion design course

they spend the whole day shopping and aaron ends up with a highly upgraded wardrobe that contains a lot of cute pastel stuff and sav's promise to do his makeup

aaron insists on paying for dinner at the really nice pizza place a short drive from campus even tho they all protest

and andrew knows he's found new friends, but has no idea that it's the vixens and he's dating one of them. nicky does tho, but he's sworn to secrecy

nicky thinks his new clothes are adorable and is stunned when aaron tells him the total cost

cleo, the only one with a properly functional family, is going back to her big family house and loving parents and grandma and aunt and siblings and cousins. love that for her.

so aaron and sav are stuck at psu for 2 weeks and aaron's surprisingly cool with this. and sav's excited bcs for the first time since her mom died, she can spend her christmas with someone she actually wants around instead of her shitty-ass father and his constant stream of bitchy girlfriends

they spend a lot of time together, stealing food from the athlete's dining hall to make their own weird combos, which usually ends with aaron making something Cool and Interesting and sav gagging and spitting out whatever strange concoction she had previously insisted would taste good

i literally can't bring myself to give a shit about the twinyards' deal bcs andrew literally became best friends with renee?? and hooks up with guys at eden’s??? idk what's going on there but it's like andrew is trying to control aaron's life while he can do whatever he wants??? and honestly wtf????

also let me just make it clear that i ADORE andrew so so much he's one of my favourite comfort characters ever but i'm not gonna make excuses for his shitty behaviour. i fully believe he heals and puts away his pride to apologise to aaron, nicky, and kevin for his treatment of them

that's definitely not to say that aaron's internalised homophobia isn't eww, but with so many important people in his life gay, he makes a huge effort to get over it

so andrew just thinks that aaron is spending a lot of time in the library or out with nicky or something

and when aaron tells sav about this deal, she's kinda horrified, but it's pretty clear to her that aaron so desperately wants to fix his relationship with his brother, and she's not in any place to discourage him, is she?

the only thing she can do is hope that he won't come out all the worse for it

and stare at the boy curled up on the other end of the pale pink sofa cleo's parents had gotten, wonder just how much shit he'd been put through, and decide she was going to be his best friend

aaron's face has gone entirely impassive. sav nudges his fluffy-socked foot with her own, then reaches out to smooth the crease between his eyebrows. "careful, you'll wrinkle your pretty little face."

aaron is very caught off guard by this, and very promptly flushes bright red, which contrasts with the pale teal hoodie he stole from katelyn

"okay, enough talk about depressing crap. wanna go make christmas cookies now?"

"yeah."

so they make christmas cookies. well, it was supposed to be christmas cookies, but it turns into double chocolate fudge cookies somewhere along the line. neither of them knows how

them baking together is the definition of chaos. they're still blasting songs, and sav is singing along terribly

"yOu'Re A mEaN oNe, Mr. GrInCh," while poking aaron's cheek as he tries to mix something. he throws a handful of flour at her. "yOu ReAlLy ArE A hEel."

anyways obviously sav retaliates and that ends in a flour fight. it only stops when aaron deadass cracks an egg on sav's head and she smears chocolate into his hair

she also tries to make him sing along to baby, it's cold outside

"i'Ve GoT tO Go `wAAyyy~" she holds a spatula up to his face

"go away."

they video call katelyn, who takes one look at the mess in the cramped dorm kitchen and sighs so loudly and dramatically that her dad pops in and asks if everything's okay

aaron freezes up at the sight of him and sav quickly turns off the camera, bcs they both want to make good impressions on him, and being covered in various cookie ingredients just won't cut it, ya know?

the cookies turn out delicious and sav sends all their group chat various photos of the process, most of which consist of selfies with her making goofy faces while aaron is simultaneously baking and flipping off the camera

plus a several videos of sav enthusiastically dancing and mouthing the lyrics of, as follows, all i want for christmas is you, let it snow, and santa claus is coming to town and aggressively pointing a spatula at aaron

"c'mon aari, just sing! please??? please???? please you can do it i believe in you!!"

finally he just. gives up. "okay, you know what? fine, i'll sing to ONE and then you will STOP bothering me you insolent dumbass."

sav beams. santa baby starts playing. aaron is very clearly going through five stages of grief in 0.5 seconds

and when the cookies are cooling down, they start cleaning the kitchen up. aaron rubs some spilled egg yolk into sav's hair but it goes pretty okay otherwise, since they're just listening to more christmas songs and chatting about light stuff, like aaron's biochem course, sav's fashion course, and their dumb classmates

[ AAAAAAA I'm sorry this took so long HELLO-- Riser here with my set of the questions <3 Hello!!! ]

1. Tell us about your current project(s)  – what’s it about, how’s progress, what do you love most about it?

Well!! I'm dabbling in and out of stuff at the moment BUT- when it comes to mcyt, it's a lil fic I've dubbed Lilac! Well, technically it's "of sunflowers, moon lilies, and poppy seed stars"- but Lilac is far easier to say than os,ml,&pss--

It's a flower husbands fic, (I've been away a while but gods i hope that's still a thing people read about--) in which Scott could live forever- but time is a flat circle, and he keeps bumping into familiar faces every now and again along the trail.

[ One in particular far more than the rest ]

it's not necessarily??? set in a particular fandom?? but I have taken bits and bobs from different series Scott's been in! (Empires & 3rd Life mainly [of course <3] but w/ some Origins n Last Life references sprinkled in there too :D!)

Currently!! I'm in ""planning"" stages and by that I mean I need to write shit down-- I have it pretty much all up in my noggin (All 7 chapters of it <3! 5+1[+epilogue].) but I need to get it down onto a page and detailed out before I can really sink my teeth into writing it. Lord knows it'll still take a while bc I'm gonna try write it all first before I upload it so I don't burn out halfway through a chapter write up and just,, leave it hanging

Probably my favourite thing about it is just,,, ngl,, I just think it's really pretty,,, The story makes me very soft and,,, mmm <3. It's not just fluff by any means but it has so much love at its core and what little I have written of it so far just,, <3 <3 <3 I am v pleased with it,,, I'm looking forward to it! which is nice ^-^

(I also,, have some Cleo & Mumbo [separately, as a note---] fics planned,, i still need to flesh those out fully but!! probably leaning more towards missing moments/stuff i want to expand on in a ✨fun character dive ✨ sense. Sort of in the style of the Martyn / Cleo one-shots I've written [on ao3 pspsspspsps- /lh] but yeah!!! I have some fun ideas for those :D!)

9. Are you more of a drabble or a longfic kind of writer? Pantser or plotter? Do you wish you were the other?

Longfic, probably! While sometimes I like the thought of drabbling the last time I tried to drabble (see ao3--- /lh) they ended up being chunkier than planned so yeah no I'm not very good at making lil drabbles-

I AM ALSO very much a plotter though. Sometimes w/ something very small I can take an idea and just pad it out (after a lot of time thinking about it though-) but if I don't go into something w/ a detailed plan I am quite likely to get stuck in a moment of ". well i know what goes after this but how do I get to it". Knowing what goes where exactly is a pretty big help for me and probably why stuff takes so long-- I do wish I could pants stuff ngl, at least enough to take me from point a to b with a little more ease <3

15. Which is harder: titles or summaries (or tags)?

TAGS. I've gotten a bit better in recent years w/ those but while titles and summaries can sometimes just come to you, tags need to be specific?? y'know?? the fic is sorted through tags and I want it to be accessible even if I tend to ramble at times in them.

Long story short- titles and summaries can usually click after a few tries- tags are tricky as hell-

19. Is there something you always find yourself repeating in your writing? (favourite verb, something you describe ‘too often’, trope you can’t get enough of?)

See,,,, as someone who's writing exists scattered about sporadically over the past three and a half years, with most of it coming from the START of that time frame... I have been thinking this question over for awh i l e,,, (it is,, currently 1am,, so apologies for grammer errors and other assorted nonsense in this bit in particular <3)

b U T while I might not have a favourite verb for you in my writing (I do, however, in general, like weird ways of describing walking: scuttle, doddle, skitter, take your pick✨), with many thanks to Ashes I have wrangled (another good verb) some things together that I do like to shove into most things I do--

- I really like trying to do characterisation well,,, ashes says i do but tbh i just,, try to worm my way into their heads and see what's going on inside. I feel a Lot Of Things and so do the characters in my works <3 whether they want to feel said things or not :) Though,, overall I just like trying to nail now what makes them tick??

(in hindsight: I feel like saying "I like trying to write characters with strong voices that feel in character and can be told apart from other characters would have been more coherent, but that is something I do not tend to be------)

- Also!! If I work a certain theme into a piece, it is /getting woven in there throughout/. Vengeance in 'with my eyes (with my body, with me)', immortality, the celestial bodies and a few others in Lilac,,, Listen if I am doing a bit I am sticking to it- (/lh). I think it helps to tie pieces together ^-^ Keeps everything running on the same track throughout, no matter what else is going on, it all ties back to a central core. (I should probably go see if I can find some trends in terms of words or phrases scattered throughout my writing,,, might be interesting ngl 👀)

21. What other medium do you think your story would work well as? (film, webcomic, animated series?)

gods this is the most niche of thoughts but,, first thing that came to me was like,, animated but specifically with like,, characters and stuff coming up from pop up storybook pages,,, like the page opens and stuff just unfurls and comes to life,, Each chapter is a different book <3

But!! I do think some form of animation would fit it well <3 2D 100%- something whimsical and flowy and maybe a little fuzzy around the edges,, though, I do think it works best as literature <3

We all know that Hannah took her car to richy before she was lastly seen and when we talked to richy he told us that it looked like she hitted something but he didnt answer her about it.What if Hannah hitted Amy when they met lastly?(like we saw in ther chats).

About the car ...well that is another story.Jessy took the car key's from lilly and they told us that richy looked in the car and he didnt find anything but jessy found the adress of the hanson's house..what if richy found it first and thats why he was marked first?

Well, the thing about the spare key and Thomas is actually a little weird. Why does he go to so much trouble, dragged Dan into the matter and buy a spare key for 350 even though there is a second key.

However, I can also imagine that Thomas may have done this for safety. He couldn’t know what was happening while he was in her apartment.

If he might have been caught by the police, he could have said that his regular key to her apartment was. But the whole thing around for the key also seems weird.

Or Thomas really didn’t know about the key because he had his own. I can imagine that Hannah might have been cautious with what she told others, after all she was persecuted. But it is nevertheless a little strange! 🤔

About your theory, I don’t know if you mean another moment, but all I can remember is Richy saying to us when we talk to him that he thinks Hannah went over a pothole, and that’s why the oil pan broke.

I’m pretty sure Hannah picked up the car at Richy’s before she drove to the Hanson house. And I assume that Hannah didn’t meet with Amy, because Amy was gone long ago at that moment, or maybe even death.

The police still haven’t revealed a cause of death for Amy, but the fact that she was hit by a car could well be possible, because that’s how Jennifer died. However, I don’t think it was Hannah.

And Jessy found the address of Jennifer’s mother in Hannah’s navigation device. So Richy would have had to turn it on and go straight through all the addresses to find this. And that might make sense if Richy is the MWAF, or has something to do with it, but if we assume that Richy is innocent, then it wouldn’t really help him to look for the places where Hannah has been.

And since it was only the house where Jennifer’s mother lives, this is actually not yet a danger for the MWAF. And I would just wonder how the MWAF should have known that Richy already knows the address.

The whole thing with Hannah’s car is just weird and doesn’t make any sense. I mean, why would the MWAF bring Hannah’s car back, it would make more sense to make it disappear altogether. Above all, he must have thought about before that someone might have noticed that their car wasn’t there before. And suddenly it’s there? That doesn’t make sense. 🧐

I’m really excited about episode 10, there’s so much we need to understand and far too many clues are missing. I still don’t know anything anymore. 😂😩

“Celia is so pretty!~ I love her so much!”

Kuroo’s attention snapped to you, doing his best to keep his face neutral as his brain went rocketing off in the worst direction possible. Pretty? Pretty girl? You like a pretty girl?

He had no room to judge, he also liked pretty girls. But there’s no way you liked this pretty girl more than you liked him, right? Right?

He pulled his attention back to the practice match just in time to avoid getting wailed in the face with a volleyball, able to turn it into a clumsy receive at the last possible second. If his teammates noticed, they were at least kind enough not to call him out.

When he sidled up to you at the end of practice he did his best to sound fake concerned, not legitimately worried.

“You replacing me with some cute girl? I could hear you mooning from all the way on the court, you know?”

You just laughed and shook your head, lifting your phone to show a character from the game you and Kenma had been gushing about. Your phone lockscreen had been set to a picture of an, admittedly adorable, cartoon eagle.

“I finally found someone who had Celia in their town. I wanted her so bad!”

Kuroo snorted, ruffling the top of your head. “Well I’m glad you got her. Next time give me a warning before you start going all mushy for video game birds, alright?”

Kai Nobuyuki

“Oh, Lily! Lily, you’re so beautiful!”

Kai barely gave more than a twitch to indicate that he’d heard what you’d said. He’d heard you gush about celebrities or anime characters you’d liked before, but not to the degree that you’d call them just by their first name.

“New favorite character?” He offered, continuing to pack his practice bag and try not to look too curious about who you were fawning over.

Luckily for him, you were more than happy to supply the answer yourself, squiggling under his arm and holding your Switch up to his face so he could see your colorfully-dressed character sitting at a picnic table with an adorable cartoon frog.

“She’s so cute! I can’t believe I got her in my town.” “I didn’t know you liked frogs so much.” He breathed a silent sigh of relief, feeling silly for letting himself worry, even the tiniest bit.

“Yeah, well she’s the cutest frog!”

“Cuter than most frogs I’ve seen.”

Kai fought a smile as you began passionately debating the cuteness of real life frogs, tugging you a little bit closer with his arm.

Yaku Morisuke

“Ah, Cleo! How could anyone ever be so cute?”

Yaku didn’t much enjoy it when you called him cute, but hearing you call somebody else cute was somehow a thousand times worse. He could swear he felt his own blood pressure spike with that sentence alone.

“Ooh! Who’s cute?”

And there’s Lev. So much for his blood pressure.

You held up your phone screen to Lev and he began nodding along in agreement with you, which somehow made Yaku feel even more irritated than he already did. A stray volleyball rolled across the floor near him, and he sent it spiralling into Lev’s lower back with a kick.

“Quit talking about cute girls and focus on your receives, shithead!”

“OWWWW!!! Yaku-senpai, so mean! You could’ve missed! Then how would you feel?”

“Get back on the court, Lev.”

“I’m sorry!” You said when you pulled Yaku aside after practice. “I just was just really excited about Animal Crossing, I didn’t mean to distract Lev.”

“Animal….. Crossing?”

“Yeah! I got a really cute villager!” You held up your phone and showed Yaku a picture of the pastel horse that had just moved into your village.

“...Oh. Cleo.”

“Mhm!... Are you okay? You’re turning a little red. Maybe you should drink some more water.”

Kozume Kenma

“Rosie! Oh, Rosie is definitely best girl.”

Despite being very well-versed in Animal Crossing, it still caught Kenma off-guard for a half a second to hear you so openly mooning about your favorite villager. Luckily for him the two of you had been talking about Animal Crossing since the new game was announced, so he’d had plenty of time to get to know your favorites.

“Did you find someone to trade with you?”

“Yep! I just need to get Egbert to leave so she can move in! Get outta here, chicken!”

Resting his chin on your shoulder, Kenma watched with a small smile as you started building cliffs around the perimeter of Egbert’s house, determined to get him to move away. Maybe someday he’d have to deal with the discomfort of hearing you openly moon about someone attractive. Thankfully, today was not that day.

Fukunaga Shouhei

“You’re so perfect, Ellie! Don’t ever leave!”

Fukunaga glanced at you and quirked an eyebrow, but you were far too immersed in your Switch screen to notice. Your expression had dropped into this soft, moony-eyed gaze, one that Fukunaga wasn’t used to seeing directed at anything that wasn’t him when you thought he wasn’t looking.

It felt… weird.

“Oh! Shouhei, do you wanna see?” You finally seemed to notice him glancing in your direction, scooting over to show off your screen. “Ellie was moving out of Kenma’s town and he let me take her! Isn’t she cute?”

While your character ran circles around the little tan elephant all Shouhei could do was watch you smile with a warm, fuzzy feeling blooming in his chest.

“Second cutest here.” He quietly replied.

Yamamoto Taketora

“Molly! She’s so cute I can’t even handle it!”

Normally Yamamoto would find the idea of you fawning over a cute girl to be equally cute. That way the two of you could fawn over cute girls together!

But it was significantly less fun when it meant that one hundred percent of your attention was on your phone and zero percent of your attention was on him. He spent the majority of the day landing awesome spikes only to snap his attention towards you and see you fully immersed in your phone screen.

Finally his not-so-quiet grumbling about your lack of attention got the better of Kuroo and he hollered over to you, asking what you were looking at. Before Yamamoto could shush him you raised your phone, showing off an adorable cartoon duck.

“I finally got Molly in my town!”

Kuroo burst into laughter as a blush crawled its way across Yamamoto’s face and up to the tips of his ears, taking a swing at Kuroo to try and get him to shut up.

Haiba Lev

“She’s so stoic and cool. How can you not be completely in love with Whitney?”

“I can be stoic and cool.” Lev grumbled.

“She’s got such pretty white hair and sharp eyes.”

“I’ve got white hair and sharp eyes.”

“I should get her some flowers.”

“Can’t you get your boyfriend some flowers?”

“Hm? Lev, hun, did you say something?”

He’d been quietly murmuring under his breath since you started gushing about Animal Crossing but honestly, how could you not? Whitney was one of your dreamies and finally, after many a Nook Mile Ticket spent, you finally had her on your island. Maybe you had been going on about it for a bit, though.

“I’m sorry, Lev! I’m just excited. I wanna know what you said though!”

Lev puffed up, jabbing his thumb into his chest. “I’ve got all those things you love about this Whitney girl so much, so you shouldn’t need anyone else!” You stared at him in disbelief for a long, painfully awkward moment, before snorting hard as you dissolved into laughter.

“H-Hey!”

I’m sorry! I’m sorry, I shouldn’t laugh!” You choke out between giggles, just silently holding up your Switch to Lev’s face to show off your character presenting some roses to a cartoon wolf…

You don’t think you’ve ever seen someone turn that shade of red before.

“W-W-Well she must be your favorite because she’s so much like me! Right? Right?!”

Inuoka Sou

“Piper’s just so cool and chill! That’s why she’s my absolute favorite.”

Oh. Oh! You liked cool and chill people? Inuoka had no idea. But that’s okay! He can be cool! He can be chill!

“Dude, you okay? You’re like… Vibrating.”

At least, that’s what Inuoka had thought at the beginning of the day. Truthfully he had no skill when it came to containing his energy, especially since every time he saw you it felt like his heart was doing the equivalent of spam texting you a dozen lines of heart emojis. By the time he had gotten to the end of practice he felt jittery and uncomfortable, like he’d been holding a lid down on a boiling pot of water. He just hadn’t been acknowledging it until Yamamoto pointed it out.

“Sou?” You had been waiting for him outside the gym! Waiting! For him! His heart felt like it did a kickflip off the inside of his ribcage as he enveloped you in a hug.

“I tried! I tried to be calm and chill like you like but I just can’t do it! And whenever I see you my heart goes a RAAAAAHHH so it’s basically impossible anyway! I hope you don’t mind!”

“Whoa, whoa, whoa! Hang on.” You cupped his face in your hands and he melted into your hold, smiling like an idiot. “When did I say I like calm, chill guys?”

“This morning, you were talking about some girl named Piper and you said she was so calm and cool and that's why you liked her so I thought if I could be like that you’d like me more too and-”

You pressed a finger to his lips and he couldn’t help but sigh, turning to putty at your merest touch.

“Babe, I was talking about a character from my game! You know, the one with all the animals?”

“Really?”

“Really?”

“So I don’t need to act all calm and cool for you to like me?”

“Of course not! I love you just the way you are.”

“Heehee~… I feel a little silly.”

Shibayama Yuuki

“I’m in love! Flora is so perfect! I’ve never loved so much in my life!”

Shibayama stumbled over his own two feet when he heard you professing your love of this ‘Flora’ to one of your classmates during lunch. Glancing just around the door to your classroom, you were holding your phone in one hand and wildly gesturing with the other, leaving your friend chuckling at your excited antics.

He felt an uncomfortable sort of chill in the pit of his stomach, making his just-eaten lunch feel more than a bit unwelcome. Did you even like this Flora more than...him?

It was easy to tell that Shibayama was a bit out of it at practice, doing his best to stay focused but still uncharacteristically quiet. It wasn’t until you met him after practice to walk home that everything was cleared up to him.

“S-So, um… Who’s Flora?”

“Huh? Oh! Oh, lemme show you!”

You pulled out your Switch and ran your little character over to a flamingo and began talking to her, and Shibayama felt all the tension in his body rush out in a single breath. He let out a small chuckle as you fawned over the character.

“Yeah, she’s pretty cute!”

Now, as an update.

Apparently, Rai was contacted awhile ago, by the entity.

They demanded that Rai would stop lying about, them spreading the flowers. After he admitted he was wrong, they actually talked, and apparently figured out that another entity (Flower) was the one who sent out the lilies.

Apparently the crayon that Rai sent had something to do with the entity.

I apologize that this news took so long to send to you, I was so focused on giving Rai the break, that I completely ignored that he had news to share, but we shouldn’t focus on that now.

Your entity’s reach apparently is a lot weaker then Flower’s, sending a fake $20 bill apparently took a lot out of them, Flower was easily able to send lethal supernatural lilies through the veil, ones that were legitimately solid.

Clearly, Flower is the more experienced and stronger of the two.

Going back to the crayon, maybe the crayon was an opening for the entity to send off the flowers, your entity wouldn’t have asked about the crayon if it didn’t have something to do with Flower.

The crayon, was red, and when you received it, it was, green yellow brown something? Maybe the color change had something to do with it…

Besides that, there was [the sentence from there is smudged, but, wrong. It wasn’t like the ink itself was smudged, but every time you tried to comprehend the rest of the sentence, the meaning almost seemed to slip out of to your brain. You, think the sentence is words? Is it words? Is that even a sentence?? What’s going on?]

That itself is indeed very worrying, but Lis is surrounded by people who care about her deeply. While they might not be able to stop the self-blaming, I’m sure they will offer comfort, or at least, will stop her before she does something reckless.

As of now, that’s all I have to say. Stay safe, Rai would break if anything happened to you.

Fucking hell. This entity is chatty. That's got to be the third person the entity's contacted, AT LEAST. Once to Lis, once to... someone or other, which was apparently an amicable enough interaction that they asked the entity to give us their regards, and now Rai. Makes me wonder just how many people its contacted so far who didn't send any letters in or didn't say anything about it, or maybe just flat-out ignored the entity. How did it contact Rai, anyway? Another letter?

...Yeah. I sorta figured that out after Flower revealed herself. The colors of the crayon are green, white, and brown, and the name of the color on the crayon is White Lily.

Oh, when Rai called it a bitch and told it to give him 20 dollars, I'm guessing.

Yeah, and did you see that letter my entity and Flower passed back and forth? She called the entity a "newborn". AND IT DIDN'T EVEN DENY IT. Of course, there's no telling what "newborn" means in the eyes of an entity, maybe its "only" a thousand years old, but still.

Maybe it was an opening, you could be right. The crayon, when it arrived, was called White Lily, and the flower that attacked Rai was described by yourself as a "mutant lily." I'm willing to bet my entity put two and two together and realized something influenced the crayon in transit. I threw the crayon into the room of magic dread that we never go into, just out of caution. I don't really have a way to get rid of it, though.

Huh. I can't read that sentence/paragraph/something? for a completely new reason. Sorta looks like an entity's work, what with the whole incomprehensible eldritch mindfuck whatever. Not only that, it looks like a new one, since my usual entity likes to white things out and I bet Lil Flower would do something unnecessarily dramatic like having a flower grow out of the paper or whatever. Congrats, Rai and Skie, you have an entity! Let's hope it's more like Goldie and less like my villain gallery.

Probably, yes. Logically, I know Lis is probably going to be completely fine, with all the support she has, but I have a tendency to worry about everything and Lis and Jessy are definitely no exception.

I'll do my best to stay safe. Jake and I are being careful with how we open the envelopes nowadays, just in case another nasty surprise hops out.

In Crow Crew reactions, Jessy wishes both you and Rai well, and you in particular a speedy recovery; Lilly is concerned about the extent of the reach of Flower; Thomas is trying to guess based on context whatever you said that was covered up by the entity, and Cleo is helping out; and Dan suggested that Flower might want us to just stop writing letters altogether and suggested we do that, until I pointed out that doing that would tick off my own entity.

Why would it confront Rai over "lying" about the flowers? That seems odd. I thought that thing would gladly take credit for such an assault, if only to traumatize Yuvon and I further.

Yes, Flower was able to send through a lily... for a small period of time. I do not have the letter to hand, but you, I believe, mentioned that the lily faded away or something soon after you entered. Of course, I am not trying to minimize the danger. If it nearly broke Rai's arm before vanishing, I shudder to think of what might have happened were it to have gone for the throat. Regardless, yes, there is a clear disparity in power level here.

The crayon may have been an opening, yes. Or simply it announcing its presence. It is difficult to tell, with entities. Perhaps another entity would like to answer?

(The ink becomes so dark it seems to suck in the light around it for two sentences.) I do not believe so. I believe "Flower" was simply announcing its presence.

Well, it was worth a try. Perhaps it will answer after Yuvon sends this letter.

Do be wary. As Yuvon said: I sincerely hope that whatever entity is choosing to interact now has benevolent intentions, but I would not trust that to be the case. Of course, it is entirely possible you will not be able to read where Yuvon and I are speaking about this entity, but I suspect if that's the case you will be able to determine that of your own accord, or have already and that was what you were attempting to say.

I am sure that you either know, or can guess that I will of course endeavor to keep Yuvon as safe as I may, though that is made more difficult by the fact that we are entirely within its plane.

CS Season 3 Thoughts...

Okay, overall?? Kinda disappointed, like a lot of people. Only five episodes, its been covered. Its disappointing. But lets go over them, shall we...

The Luchadora Tango Caper

Overall thoughts? Well, this season seems so....separated? Kind of out of character and disconnected. I’ll go over why at the end.

Haha, do the Cleaners do everything?? They can cook, rig explosives, kidnap people, play bagpipes, fly a helicopter...is technology really their weakness? Oops. That’s not for another few episodes.

Poor Cleo. She seems rather out of character in this season too. All she wants is to be warm. Throughout, she seems so...almost inexperienced? Where’s the sharp-tongued, sarcastic, delicate in taste and style Cleo we know? She’s there in places.....just...

They faked us out. I thought we were going to see Carmen tangoing. Also, is it just me, or is there a lot of...leg wrapping...this season..?

Ah yes, thank you, musical cues, I was worried Shadow-san had torn Carmen to pieces since Season 3. That’s her triumph score; maybe its like a “welcome back to cs” or something. Honestly, the whole “she’s been missing all summer” seems weird and unexplained, and unnecessary.

Does Veracruz exist? Yes, it does, how did that fly under our radars?

“I have his eyes” tore me to bits. Oh my gosh what a line. She’s seeing her father for the first time.

Don’t show your face, Maelstrom says to Brunt. You know. After kidnapping a law enforcer with apparently perfect face memory recall who now has your face plastered all over wanted posters. Oh, and that Lutedor you knocked out didn’t see your face either

There is so much indirect calling Carmen good looking this season? What? I mean she is but it is so weird

Zack saying juicy steaks is so so uncomfortable

Carmen is so disengaged this season???? *Finds a link to her mother and pictures of her father* oh its another *sad sigh* link to my past. *Wow, you look like your mother, and I knew her, and her name!* Oh. Can you tell me about her.. Family is Carmen’s main trigger and source of steam in s1 and, mostly, s2. Now we get actual parts about it and she seems like she doesn’t care.

HAHA! Julia even gets her own little entrance with music and “camera” angles. And she is SO dismissively sassy sometimes in this season, I love what little we do get of her. I mean it is REALLY out of character, she hardly ever gets sassy/angry. But everyone is out of character so what the hell might as well enjoy it

“We have a fresh Carmen sighting!” Devineaux: “Haha!” Julia: *sigggggghhh* Julia girl, whats up? Please don’t leave forever. I know you said your head was in the game but your heart wasn’t, but? What? Why? Your heart seems to have been in it in season 2! Did you have a really bad summer??

The casual use of “mommy” and “daddy” is so, so very strange and I hate it a lot

“This isn’t your fight,” Carmen says, instead of accepting help from the woman who she has seen easily lift probably 300 pounds or more to help her get rid of the lady who’s tried to murder her like twice and nearly succeeded

Oh my gosh Devineaux actually spots her peeking out and recognizes her instead of blindly following Zack/Ivy and Carmen is PEEKING OUT WHY

Carmen is handcuffed and its really funny She just drags him along like later would be a much better time for her fhdgfkhdhsf Also she is much funnier when she threatens people with a bumbling idiot cuffed to her wrist, although he is much less of a bumbling idiot this season, I must say

y’all might not know but i minored in film studies so i am a true Film Hoe at heart. a problem w/ film studies (historically) has been that the movies ppl study tend to be primarily centered around white men. so u are not going to see any white male directors on this list! someone else can talk to u about them but i will not

         1. In the Mood for Love — Wong Kar-wai (2000)

Probably my fav movie of all time. The cinematography is beautiful, the story is aching and tragic, the musical suite that persists throughout the film will make you feel like time has been suspended. In Hong Kong in the 1960s, a man and woman discover that their spouses are having an affair together. Slowly, as they try to uncover the affair, they develop feelings for each other.

Idk that’s kind of a terrible summary I just love this movie so so much. Watch it late in the evening when you don’t have anywhere else to be. Watch it on a TV; turn off the lights and wrap yourself in a blanket and let the story carry you. Have snacks nearby because there is a LOT of food in this movie and you will want to eat it.

        2. Orlando — Sally Potter (1992)

Loosely based on Virginia Woolf’s 1928 novel Orlando. I love this movie because I love Tilda Swinton and I love how weird the music is and how beautiful the costumes and sets are and also because I love a little gender-fuckery in a movie. Basically a young androgynous nobleman named Orlando (Tilda Swinton) is given a large tract of land and a castle by Queen Elizabeth I, along with a shit ton of money, but only if he obeys her command: “Do not fade. Do not wither. Do not grow old.” So he doesn’t. He lives for the next several centuries. One morning, in the 1800s, he wakes up to discover that he has transformed into a woman. And that’s all I’ll say about that!

Watch this movie during the daytime, in the winter, when there’s snow on the ground. Watch this movie with your friends, and split a couple bottles of wine. It’s sometimes funny and sometimes serious but always fun, and you’ll be surprised how invested in the story you get.

         3. The Handmaiden — Park Chan-wook (2016)

I mean this one goes without saying but it is potentially the greatest queer film every made. It’s absolutely stunning, South Korean cinema is extraordinary. This is a tale of conmans and high society and double-crossings and a woman falling in love with her maid and then having unbelievably hot sex with her… I’m not going to spoil anything more. It’s a loose adaptation of Fingersmith and you should just go right now and watch this movie immediately. Watch it 100 times.

         4. Howl’s Moving Castle — Hayao Miyazaki (2001)

This is a great movie. Hayao Miyazaki only really makes great movies. You might know Spirited Away — his most famous film — but my personal favorite has always been Howl’s. The world that Miyazaki is able to craft is vibrant, rich, and a fantastical steampunk dream. There’s magic, witches, a talking fire, and a house that walks through the countryside on its own.

Truly my recommendation for this is smoke a little weed and watch it for the art/animation. Watch it on a Saturday morning when the sun is out and you’re already feeling joyful. Watch it on a TV, if you can; it slaps harder that way.

         5. Daughters of the Dust — Julie Dash (1991)

It took until 1991 for a feature film directed by a black woman to be distributed theatrically in the U.S. For that reason and that reason alone we should all watch Daughters of the Dust (and everything Julie Dash ever makes). But it’s also a really stunning movie. It’s set in the early 1900s, and tells the story of 3 generations of women who live at Ibo Landing on St. Simons Island as they’re preparing to leave their homeland and migrate North. (Ibo Landing was the setting of a mass-suicide in the 1800s. Enslaved Igbo people from Africa refused to submit to slavery in the U.S. According to folklore + the story when they saw the fate that was awaiting them, all of the enslaved people from the boat turned around and walked together into the water to drown).

The storytelling is non-linear, the dialogue is sometimes hard to understand (there’s heavy use of the Gullah language and unusual sentence structure), the visuals are lush.

This movie is on Netflix! You can watch it right away! This is a good movie to watch on your computer (turn the subtitles on).

Honorable Mentions:

Cléo from 5 to 7 (dir. Agnès Varda, 1962) — The movie that birthed the French New Wave! Also I’d die for Agnès Varda. Also it’s in French so have subtitles on lol

Roma (dir. Alfonso Cuarón, 2018, Netflix) — A movie reminiscent of the French New Wave! Almost certainly inspired by Agnès (the main character’s name is Cleo). Cuarón’s use of long-takes (which u might know from another great movie of his, Children of Men,) and ability to set up a shot that is layered in complexity for miles within the frame will leave you stunned and breathless.

the fallen angels - good omens fic part 1?

idk what this is really. i wrote this when i was really really sick and kinda in a daze bc i wanted a different zira and crowley fic that involved crowley being a famous rockstar. i kinda wanna write more but i’m also writing so many other novels rn. tell me what u think tho and we’ll see if i should continue w this shit.

The two of them had been friends. The best of friends, actually- completely inseparable. So close to one another it was rumored that they may in fact be more than friends (which shows a mark of a true friendship). And it was shocking that they were friends. Since on the outside- they appeared to have nothing in common. One liked dressing in white, beige or tartan and reading books and eating food. The other liked black and gardening and Queen and when the time came- speeding in his father’s old beat up car. They had nearly nothing in common, looking from the outside. But if you got to know each of them well and how their bond worked, it really did make sense. And they really genuinely belonged with each other.

However what was more surprising was their fall out. The one that occurred on the first week of summer holiday before their departure to uni. The one that shook up both of their worlds and ultimately caused them to stop talking with one another. Over something so stupid. 

So Stupid.

But neither of them had the pride to talk to the other so they carried on. As if their bond never happened. As if they didn’t once mean the world to each other. As if they didn’t spend a decent time of the day, each, thinking about all of the what if’s. What if we remain friends? How would my life differ? What if I never knew him in the first place? Well, wouldn’t that be a relief?

What if there was no silence between us?

Aziraphale was running a bookshop in Soho, 7 years after he had a falling out with whom he thought was his best friend. Now, the books he was selling had little importance to him, really- all were modern and/or not much of his taste, per say. All of his important books were stored safely away in his flat above the shop- first editions passed down through generations in his family of classics, prophet books and such. Whatever book he could get his hands on from his ancestors’ collection was considered a pot of gold to him- and better yet, he had a few that were signed. More or less, he loved the books probably more than anything.

“Have you gotten tickets yet?” a voice in the corner of Aziraphale’s store asked to another customer, now.

“Of course I have, long ago. I wouldn’t have been able to get good seats if I waited ‘til the week before the concert. I’m surprised it’s not sold out, at this point,” the other customer commented.

Aziraphale looked up and watched as the first girl spoke sighed, looking at a book that was on display.

“You’re so lucky. You’ve got tickets in the pit, correct?” she asked.

“Obviously.”

“Oh please get as close to the stage as possible. Tell me what Crowley’s like up close,” the first voice said, dreamily.

That perked up Aziraphale’s attention even more so. They were talking about him and his band. 

“You twat,” said the second customer, swatting the other’s arm. “He’s gay and you know that.”

“Yes, but can you blame me? He’s one hell of a man.”

Aziraphale had tried to keep his attention on the book he was reading behind the counter. But how could he? Once Crowley trickled into his brain, there was almost always no hope in getting him out until he slept on it. Because little did they know, that the fussy man behind the counter knows in person that Crowley is one hell of a man. Or- well- at least, was. He only knew of him personally as an adolescent- now he was a man and tainted by fame. And Aziraphale knew for a fact that fame changed people.

“He’s rumored to have a boyfriend too, now,” the second voice exclaimed. “The paps caught him snogging some bloke not too long ago.”

That was new information too Aziraphale. And quite frankly, new information he did not care for. He never kept up with Crowley because even though his old best friend’s life was so conveniently displayed online, it would hurt a lot to see what he was up to. All he knew about him now was through gossip and accidents. Seeing his picture on the front of a magazine as he passed a newsstand on the street. Hearing his voice on the radio when he went into shops. Passing by teenage girls that were so head over heels in love with the man despite him being openly gay. Any moment that acknowledged Crowley’s existence was hell to Aziraphale. It made him wonder if Crowley was doing this to him on purpose. The whole becoming famous thing so Aziraphale could never forget. It was very Crowley of him to do such a thing- being the prankster and drama queen he was as a teenager. 

But it really shouldn’t have surprised Aziraphale that he was caught with someone like it did. Of course he was with someone else. Just look at him! Everyone desired him and that was no secret!

“Lucky lad, then. Well, I hope you have a great time. Get lots of videos for me.”

And just like that the conversation was over and shifted to a book synopsis they thought was funny. But Crowley was still haunting Aziraphale’s mind. What if, what if, what if?

Crowley’s band primarily had four members including himself. If you excluded background vocalists that went on tours with them.

There was Robin, Cleo and Lorchan alongside him that made up The Fallen Angels. A band with strong Queen influence, strong sixties influence while keeping up with modern alternative music’s flare. It was a recipe to make teenage girls go crazy- especially if the singer was so damned attractive.

But the four of them were all astonishingly attractive in unconventional ways. Robin had their eye catching fashion tastes. Cleo had her crazy hair. Lorchan was the cutest cinnamon roll. Crowley had nice hair and a nice voice.

But what people found hard to believe was the fact that they were genuinely normal. Sure, they lived the rockstar life and got wasted at parties after performing but they also spent nights drinking alone with each other in hotel rooms, quite literally playing a round of Go Fish (which Crowley tolerated despite somehow being awful at it) or Old Maid (Crowley’s personal favorite card game).

And that was what they were doing in Dublin, their last concert before the final show in London- which was their hometown. Also, the town where his Aziraphale lived who could show up and be there at the concert without him even knowing.

“Oi! Anthony, love, you are out!” Cleo exclaimed.

Crowley rolled his eyes at her- she had proven herself time and time again that she was the master of Go Fish,

If anything, at least he wasn’t alone without Aziraphale. He had his band, Who did love him even if he was a difficult blasted diva at times. They really did have each other’s backs.

Cleo won that game. Then they played a round of Old Maid.

Lorchan won that time.
