Cliche maybe But "Take me to Church" was written for Mishanks.right down to all the catholic homoeroticism and knife/stabbing allegory
Like ofcourse Shanks would describe Mihawk as the giggle at a funeral the man's humor is 80% schadenfreude and of course he'd wish he had worshipped him sooner. Damn those 4 years where he wasn't alive and was literally a baby that was valuable worshipping mihawk time.
"If the heavens ever did speak, he'd be the last true mouthpiece" like come on Shanks we know you ghost wrote this, don't even play. 🙄

The Doctor and the Unpopular Opinion
Can we talk Doctor Who and RTD?
I know that there are lots of fans of his, but watching these three specials reminded me of everything that I couldn't stand about his first run with the show.
Yes, I get that it's a television show dealing with all sorts of aliens that can do all sorts of things, but once those parameters have been established, normal rules apply.
So, in "The Star Beast", once the Meep activates his spaceship, the engine starts to destroy various roads through London, presumably because the engine needed power that would be tapped from the Earth and ultimately destroy London. Got it. No problem. And then when the engine is shut down, the roads just automatically repair themselves. ?!?!? I mean, I can live with that, I'm just not thrilled and think it's incredibly lazy writting.
No, my bigger issue was in "The Giggle." The climax gave me flashbacks to RTD's Master. Remember John Simm leaping around the junkyard, laughing manically, shooting lightning from his fingers? Unfortunately, I do, which brings me to the climax of "The Giggle". The Toymaker and the two Doctors having a game of catch, but one which is being played at superhuman speed? You can make the arguement that The Toymaker could, given that he is not originally of this dimension and has powers to manipulate reality. But the two Doctors? No. That's not who the Doctor is. Intelligent, yes. Clever (and I hate using this ever since Moffatt was the showrunner), yes. Alien, yes. But not superhuman. I mean, if that was the case he would have easily outrun the doppleganger in "Wild Blue Yonder."
I'm ok with Doctor Who being silly. I'm ok with it not taking itself seriously. But this is just an easy out, a deus ex machina, where before, and I thought it was highlighted more with 13 than with other recent Doctors, the companions helped to work out the solution. There was no solution other than the Doctor(s) exhibiting superhuman physical attributes. It's lazy. It's also a bit insulting.
As for "The Giggle" on the whole, it was long expositions and Neil Patrick Harris being Neil Patrick Harris with only the barest of plots. I mean, I liked the premise, but once it was established...there was nothing to it. Also, the disembodied hand picking up the tooth is the exact same ending with Simm's Master, with his ring being snatched off a pyre. Only, the tooth was literally on the edge of Avenger's UNIT Tower and the owner of the hand would have had to have been hovering in mid air. I will be disappointed, but not surprised, if Sacha Dhawan doesn't return as the Master. (Also, why can't RTD move on with characters? Bringing back Tennent for 14 is one thing, which I also don't get other than RTD wanted to do more Doctor/Donna stories, but now he's just hanging out in Camden? His time is over. Move on.)
Everybody has their own opinions of Doctor Who, and there are those who have no issue my issues, which is fine. My extremely unpopular opinion is that 13 was the best of NuWho because I think Chibnall understood wholly what makes Doctor Who Doctor Who.

Oh also forgot why I logged on here, I made an adult torrt design for an art contest and also attempted to copy the half-dof style that the adult clestials have. I will most likely be using this design as the basis for my teenage torrt design for my au, unless I REALLY like the cannon adult design because god damn I love them so much my baby. Also the torrt of this universe is named Onix, and they have very different details from the cannon one which this design is based off of. I am working on a sheet of all the elder celestial's designs and form now on you guys won't see any of the others ages becuase I feel like it, also their personalities may be slightly spoilery as the celestials are the main focus of what I'm planning to be the story of the modern monster world.

So .. that's what it feels like to Lose.
To not be fast enough ..
To let the very one you love .. die.
                                                                                It hurts.
To be haunted by past failure .. to be reminded of mistakes you can never take back .. to be defiled by such hideous reminders day in and day out .. these plagues were known quite well to a certain Dragon Slayer.  To be marred by evil,  the very skin stripped away,  leaving nothing but scarred flesh.  Physical wounds do heal .. but ones of the heart,  they seem to last forever.
The boy had completed the mission,  but like all good soldiers .. he must now live with the trauma,  the consequences .. the failure.  The war for the Future may have been won,  their futures saved to be carved into whatever image they so choose .. but what about the past?  Could there be nothing done of the pain there?  Nothing done of the loss?  The future always seemed so malleable,  the path stretching on to whatever they'd imagined,  nothing holding back.  But the past .. it grinded to a halt.  It stayed motionless,  always the same.  No matter how strong the boy became .. the past could never be changed.  Not even Dragon King flames could burn through it.  This revelation haunted Salamander,  taunted him again and again,  the face of his dear friend .. the tears shed .. the scars bore .. the trauma sustained .. it was all too much for just one lonely boy ..
Dawn light peaks through unshuttered windows,  and a new day begins.  Salamander stirs,  continuing to rithe and scowl within slumber.  Sweat coated face contorted,  the horror hiding just beneath the surface,  another nightmare he must live within.  A white paw soon took to aid,  shaking Salamander awake,  as boy bolted up,  her name still on his lips ..
                                            ❝  Lucy--!!  ❞
Tumblr media
But Clestial would be nowhere to be seen,  a fading memory in a broken heart's dream.  Exceed once more laid paw upon friend,  a comforting gesture they shared.  No words need be spoken,  but sentiment was surely felt.  Without another word,  boy was off to get ready for the day.  Another exciting day in the best Guild in all of Fiore,  right?
Turning the trauma into triumph,  the boy made his merry way to his home away from home,  the place he loved,  the place he protected,  the home of all his beloved friends .. Fairy Tail.  The scowl that bore upon visage now tuned into the usual grin,  a beautiful day surrounded him,  the sun was shining ever brighter,  like the future he has won for them.  These should be happy times,  right?  The world is calling out in celebration,  the clear blue sky enlightening and free,  and yet .. these thoughts bore into him like a vice.  Why wouldn't they just go .. fly away like the birds in the sky?  What use were they,  but to remind him of his failures .. of the loss of life draconic couldn't prevent?
Leaving those sickening thoughts behind,  sandal soon met hardwood and entrance swung forth,  flames spouting from wide,  bellowing cavern.  Canines peeked,  salmon tress swung wildly.  That's right,  Natsu Dragneel is in the building  !!
Tumblr media
With his usual aggressive,  excitement driven,  loud mouthed self coming through,  not a soul should be able to pick up on anything that might be bothering him underneath this visage,  the usual charade should suffice enough to keep prying eyes at bay.  But there was one thing that couldn't be explained .. why was Salamander wearing his coat in the summer?  Why .. to hide the sins of his failure,  marked upon his very skin .. that's why.

Good good, so you know the basics of magic, quite so,!
As for your size, you now contain extremely high levels of energy from your...connections to the clestial bodies... To contain so much energy there needs to be space and your original size well... Wouldn't quite be enough. I believe if you learn how to release this energy as magic you will be able to learn how to return to your original size.

Ally: Dhruva, The Celestial Brightsmith
However brilliant you think my work might be, remember that I learned my craft at the feet of those who wrought entire worlds from the void with nothing but their hope and intent. I adore them as all students adore their masters, as a candle must adore the dawn
Wondrous weapons made of some radiant material have begun appearing in exotic markets and the hands of the party’s foes, allowing their bearers to transform into intangible colour while in motion or sear through the flesh of creatures made of dream. This raises the question of just where these weapons originated and how the party can get their hands on them, leading to a journey across the planes which culminates in a visitation with a most extraordinary artisan.
Where they once forged weapons for heavenly legions, the celestial Dhruva has spent several eons perfecting an art of capturing, channelling, and tempering light they refer to as “brightsmithing”, which they now hope to propagate across the multiverse. They do this in dedication to the starry goddess Urania, as the process of creating a “lightwrought” weapon requires one to seek out and bask in the vivid brilliance of the cosmos, which is in itself a form of prayer to the little known goddess.
Pilgrimages across the infinite are all well and nice, but the actions of the celestial smith are inadvertently at risk of kicking off an arms race as the various factions and free agents of the cosmic sea scramble for this new power. Will the party turn this upheaval to their advantage, or will the chaos convince them that mortalkind is not yet ready for such gifts?  Will they even care so long as they can get cool glowing weapons from the kindly space angel?
Adventure Hooks:
The Brightsmith is just the entity you want to talk to if you need a peerless weapon to take down an untouchable rival, a tyrant, or a hostile celestial body. The construction of such a weapon will of course take expenditure on the party’s part, sourcing the materials from dangerous reaches, journeying out into the cosmos to capture just the tight light, and most importantly of all, convincing Dhruva their cause is just. Given that they’re a being made of mortality, The celestial is unlikey to be swayed by selfish arguments, and the heroes might need to do some soul searching before they earn their shiny new toy.
Dhruva’s forge is a tiny world unto itself, constructed by the celestial over millennia of trial and error as they refined the process of brightsmithing from a theory into an actual craft. As such, beneath the surface there seem to be an endless gallery of disused workshops, vaults, and armouries full of failed experiments. Occasionally they’ll need someone to pop down into one of the forgotten lower levels and bring them something, necessitating the party fight through constructs, plasma elementals, and the sort of shadowy void creatures that feed upon light.
On a subsequent visit to Dhruva’s forge, the party end up encountering another traveller, begging for Dhruva to take him back as an apprentice and show him the true secrets of brightsmithing. After banishing the newcomer, Dhruva will tell the party of his fallen apprentice who had a real talent for the art but sought to rationalize the process by cutting out the spiritual elements in an attempt to mass produce light based weapons. As the campaign goes on, the party will encounter some of these “falselight” weapons in the hand of villains, a pale imitation of a true lightwrought weapon, but affordable for your average merc or pirate.
Mechanic: Brightsmithing
Like all talented artisans, those who which to create lightwrought weapons need superior materials in order to realize their aims, the same way that a master smith wouldn’t use the same metal to construct nails as they would a sword.
To this end, brightsmiths make use of special crystalline prisms that can drink in light over a matter of time to later be extracted by the smith with the use of special lenses and mirrors. Prisms typically resemble a colorless piece of rock-quartz with a starry sparkle about their edges, and as brightsmithing propagates throughout a setting it’s not unusual to see travlers, sailors, and adventurers all carrying these stones (or atleast fragments of them).
There are two sorts of prisms: Stable and Volatile, each ranked along the same rarity access of regular magic items.
Stable Prisms need to soak in the specified light in order to abzorb its properties, requiring a total of 24 hours of exposure to a specific arrangement of light in order to gain a charge.   Once that charge has been used to create a lightwrought item, this prism is reusable, though the rarity of the item produced will always be one step in rarity below that of the stable prism itself
Volatile Prisms are fast acting, requiring only a minute of exposure in order to develop a charge. This speed comes with several downsides, in that the prism is single use and must be stored in dark conditions lest it drink in the ambient light of a room spoiling its potential. The charge of a volatile prism is always equal to that of an item of its rarity.
The other thing brightsmiths need, obviously, is light: the more potent the better, thought what exactly determines the potency of light is highly subjective, relating to any number of factors:
The light is part of a display that could be considered uniquely beautiful
The character trapping the light is feeling some level of personal poignancy, associating it with a strong memory or emotions
the source of the light is volatile or dangerous
Few have seen the source of this light in living memory
there is something primal, divine, or otherworldly about the source
For every factor a source of light matches, the charge it generates in a prism is counted as one level of rarity (starting from common) to a max of the rarity of the prism.
When given over to a capable brightsmith, a charged prism counts as the raw materials required for an item of the corresponding level, with the particular quality and source of the light determining a thematic link with the item to be crafted.
Lightwrought weapons by default also deal magical radiant damage in addition to their other types, making them a sought after alternative for expensive enchanted weapons when dealing with those beats of the astral sea that might be resistant or outright immune to mundane steel

Yeah, that makes sense, I just expected him to put up more fuss about leaving all his projects. Domtrect does seem to be enjoying the trip so far. But he seems to be more relaxed on the road then he was at home, mind you, from what you said that’s propbably just because we’ve been togeather the whole time. I’m hoping some other Astartes contact will make him a little more comfortable with me out of sight.
We have not seen another Astartes yet, but the base is supposed to send a Clestial Lion around tomorrow to meet Domtrect, so I’m hoping that goes well. Domtrect does not seem to be too excited. If anything he’s grumbly about the prospect of meeting another Astartes. They apparently have an orientation program that he is not enthusiastic about.
Domtrect did seem mesmerized by the landscape once we finally got to the tree line. It took longer to drive down then it normally do, to give him some time to soak in some parts of the drive I really enjoy. The winter woods seemed to delight him though.
And yeah, the bath is a great idea. I made sure to get an Astartes upgraded suit which includes a properly sized bathroom. Domtrect has been soaking for the last 30 minutes . He insists on keeping the door open so he can watch the door though.
Small update! The city!
I’m heading out for teachers conference down south. Domtrect seems more relaxed to me moving around than I thought he would be? For such a home body he seems very content to be moving loading up, espcially once I explained that we would be taking the cats. Now, he does not know we have to drop them off with my sister, but that’s a bridge to cross when we get to it.
Wish me luck everyone, I’m going to try to convince Domtrect to head to the base when I’m in classes. He still seems to be grumpy with the idea.
I’m kinda worried at how much he want to avoid other marines, so we’ll see how that goes. Other than that I’m going to take him to a home supply shop and see if we can find him an Astartes sized tub. We’re all so going to go to the big mall there, just to see how Domtrect reacts.
