do you like burningcheese 🔺🧀?
Not personally! I can see burning spice having an interest in golden cheese in the same way all the beasts obsess over their respective ancients, but I just cannot ever see GC returning those feelings whatsoever. She has zero respect for him in my mind
So I guess if you count one-sided then yeah, but I don't even really see it as pining tbh. He just wants her to kick his ass
#and from a fandom standpoint I feel a lot of the ship's fanworks take both of them pretty far out of character in a way I don't enjoy#especially burning spice.#I say with a hardened glare#but I'm not necessarily against it#like I don't think people who like the ship should be chastised for it just because I don't love it#I am trying so hard to keep this answer brief#because every time I get an ask about burning spice in any capacity I start frantically writing a convoluted character analysis#I do think bspice's feelings toward GC are a lot more complex than this but I simply do not have time to write out the multi page document-#-that exists in my mind about it#mailbox

my lesbian coworkers think I get 0 pussy. which is correct but you did not have to say it. also you have to include that it's not because I'm not hot. I know I'm hot and the problem is something different and weirder
#i was watching a reel of someone who just moved in with her gf and immediately started using all her gf's stuff#people were in the comments like aw how cute#well i have an organizational system. and have arranged my life accordingly#and if you try to fuck with my system i will slowly and subtly lose my mind until i become the Creature#i never lose anything nor become ruffled nor get visibly mad at people for petty reasons#nor am i late for things nor do i fail to turn in important documents nor do i misplace documents nor does my apartment grow gross things#my sanity is built upon a complex system and adding elements takes a lot of focus#sex is an element

Broke (2016): BBC Sherlock is a phenomenal piece of media and anything that seems like a flaw just hasn't been fully explored yet
Woke (2020): BBC Sherlock is an incredibly flawed series run by an egotistical writer, it never deserved the hype and is actively bad on so many fronts (especially representation)
Bespoke (2024): BBC Sherlock is flawed and bogged down by increasingly poor writing, which many fans refused to see while it was airing, leading to hugely misplaced expectations (particularly for the final series), AND it has the seeds of some compelling characterizations and portrayals, some genuinely solid performances, and touches--albeit imperfectly--on complexities that are still being discussed today (particularly as it relates to the relationship between Sherlock and John). The huge cultural impact of the show has created a massive pendulum effect in its public perception, leading to most people today remembering a caricature of the show (whether positive or negative) rather than appreciating its nuanced merits and failings...that being said Season 4 sucked
#these just sum up my personal takes at the years in question and also what i'm seeing on tumblr/other social media#bbc sherlock#sherlock holmes#and i actually have a lot more thoughts to share on this series#specifically relating to the cultural impact#there is SO much about the show that goes unappreciated in hindsight because of how public perception of it has soured#and i totally fell into this as well--i still regularly rewatch hbomberguy's video absolutely dismantling the series and he isn't wrong!!#but what i'm saying is that i think it's easy for us to look at a piece of media (especially one so massively popular) like sherlock...#with very black-and-white lenses. it wouldn't have become so popular if there wasn't something inherent in it that resonated with people#and that's being buried (and i totally forgot it) because 'sherlock is cringe and problematic. can't believe i liked that'#which again it IS full of issues and those are well-documented as they should be. future portrayals should not repeat those mistakes#BUT being able to impact so many people is a merit in itself. and that's only possible because of other genuinely good things about the show#yes the way they handled the relationship between john and sherlock was riddled with problems YES it was often queerbaiting#AND the way they portrayed that relationship had a deep effect on me. i saw a lot of myself in sherlock and the complex way he loved john#the nuanced feelings he had about john's marriage to mary. the part (in s4!) where john calls him inhuman for not feeling romantic love#there was genuine intention and care put into some parts of this show and it comes through in scenes like those. they impact people.#and because of this realization i'm going to (eventually) do a rewatch of the show. i'm much older and i want to see how i'll view it now#but i want to go into it--and i want everyone who engages with it still--to have an open mind and evaluate it for what it is#not what we expected it to be (secret episode anyone?) or what the cultural drift has turned it into (the tiktok of sherlock's mind palace)#but the messy problematic somewhat-heartfelt massively significant and ultimately meaningful piece of media it actually was#anyway that's my thoughts would love to hear y'all's perspectives#funny how after all this time making a sherlock post still feels like i'm poking a bees' nest lol please be kind!#kay can i just catch my breath for a second#kay has a party in the tags

there technically isnt any actual proof in the show that pink viewed spinel in the way that i always describe it (viewing spinel as a symbol of the diamonds' belittlement and mistreatment of her) but it makes so much sense and it compels me so much and i think its so much better than just saying pink thought she was annoying. its much deeper than that in my mind
#grr GRRRR i need more content exploring this so baaaddd#i need spinel to find out and gain 100 new complexes#*stares at my abandoned fic document* fuck.#spinel#pink diamond#su posting

not to be a boomer but does it make you sad that we won't get concert crowds like this anymore
#I have complex feelings on the ''no phones at concerts'' thing. genuinely.#I used my phone a LOT at concerts as a teen/very-young adult#and I do genuinely cherish the videos I got of some of those performances. so like I get it. I really do get it.#but as I've grown older I find that I may snap A picture or A video and that's it.#quick little memory moment for me and then phone goes down and away for the rest of the show#I think it's because Genuinely I no longer value the videos of performances as much. there was something much more important to the younger#—me about documenting the experience and having it preserved that is no longer important to me.#and I don't begrudge her that. like I said... I cherish those videos because they're an artifact of a past time and a younger me#but my perspective has changed as I've gotten older and as I've seen more concerts#idk the crowds at rock shows are still pretty decent. I'm very grateful for that. like I will always relish watching a mosh pit go at it lo#but then I see like footage from a.... idk a billie eilish concert or something and it's just like an ocean of phone screens#like no!! no!!!#also unrelated but one of my pet peeves (this is such a stupid thing to get mad at LMAO) is people who stand stock still at a concert#at the pride concert the other weekend there were so many people in the crowd who were like 🧍#just a bunch of people 🧍🧍🧍🧍 not moving. not bopping. not swaying. not bouncing. just standing 🧍🧍🧍🧍🧍🧍#like OMG YOU LOOK DEAD. AT LEAST SWAY A LITTLE. PLEASE#but I think there's a correlation there of people not Engaging With The Music And Performer (standing stock still) and also#People Trying To Film and thus needing to stay still to get stable footage#and idk I imagine that this is a fictional idealized thing I've built up in my head but then I see crowds like the one in the video#and they're all swaying and absolutely no one is trying to document this thing for some future moment#there is only the here and now and there's something really beautiful in that. which I think we've lost in the age of the cellphone camera#idk I feel very old man yells at cloud about this but I think there's a kernel of something there

Hey some advice for work: If you are a dealing with someone in a customer service position, do not ask them "Hey, every time we talk you sound frustrated with me. Why is that?" There's no good answer the customer service person can give. Like, the answer is you have taken seven emails, several of them mislabeled, to send me 40+ attachments for a process that (according to your own words!) should have only required 12 attachments. I have had to manually go through each document multiple times. Yes I am frustrated because I handle this paperwork for dozens of people every day and it usually takes less than 5 minutes and we are going on the second hour of this. What I ended up saying was "I'm from California. We just sound like this"
#tj talks about work#the person behind the yarn#like dude. dude! what the hell!#my job is not rocket science! there are no complex equations!#okay there is one complex equation but it's not one this guy had to do#he just had to send the right documents to me. once.#not 3-4 times each#and in different arrangements in each email so that I couldn't rule some out

the left hand of darkness is a hilarious book because like. what were the ekumen cooking. the first envoy on a new planet is already a generally dangerous position that often involves an early death, primarily because they have to navigate a new society with different social rules and customs all on their own with limited help from previous research. and they looked at gethen, the no gender planet, and went, "let's send the one who can't perform a vibe check to save his life and is also the straightest, most cis guy to ever dude" like ?????
#i mean it's not all their fault#they did literally hand him a document that was a woman from 40 years ago going “hey don't sort them into gender categories in your head”#“it's more complex than that pls try to understand the nuance”#and he just ignored that instruction entirely#but also he just doesn't get the political aspects of anything ever#and some of it is willful ignorance but at a certain point you as an ekumen have to wonder if the guy can read social cues at all#the left hand of darkness#words words words

Big celebratory shoutout to disabled/mentally/chronically ill school dropouts. You’re brilliant. You’re a hero. Don’t be ashamed. In fact, be proud. Be proud that you were…
…perceptive enough to see the situation for what it was…
…smart enough to know what you needed to do…
…strong enough to defy expectations…
…brave enough to forage your own path…
…and don’t let anyone convince you that their degree makes them smarter than you. or better than you. or more successful than you. or harder working than you. or more deserving than you. All it means is that they had better support systems. better resources. adequate accommodations. All it means is that you both had goals and plans and dreams, but the world let you down while it was seeing them though. All it means is that our society is deeply lacking both systemic and systematic equitability. And that is something to be angry or upset about, absolutely, but not ashamed of.
#A fancy document might be validating or identity-affirming but it sure as fuck doesn’t make anyone smarter than anyone else :)#neurodiversity#college dropout#disabled academia#cptsd recovery#disabled student#complex trauma#bpd#adhd autistic#did osdd#audhd problems#trauma recovery#dropout#school struggles#university struggles#student struggles#disability accommodations#neurological disability#physical disability#invisible disability#invisible illness#chronic fatigue#chronic illness#chronic pain#traumagenic#cluster b#neurodivergent#mental illness advocacy#executive dysfunction#mental health education

as long as i'm changing everything about my game, i decided to take the plunge and do something i've been considering for a while... uninstalling ACR! i've replaced it with romantic standards for now. time to give it a spin and see how different it feels!
#i know it can *with* ACR and you don't necessarily need to pick one or the other#but after the round i just played the balance tipped from 'messy in a fun way' to 'this is screwing up all my plans'#sorry for all the text posts. i feel like i am tinkering with a vastly complex clock tower here and i MUST document all repairs

Does anyone else automatically size themselves up with people their age and look for ways that you’re inferior to them? Just me? Ok….
#the reasons why I think like this are…complicated#honestly a lot to do with the#adhd struggle bus#surprise surprise the neurodevelopmental condition has overarching and very specific effects on my life and how I interact with the world#of course disclaimer that this weird thing I have is not inherent to adhd#but maybe is a way of thinking I developed in part due to it#this is a me thing if anyone else relates to this fine but you don’t have to#I think thi oversharing series is a way for me to microdose journaling#I try to get into journaling but I have way too many thoughts#it’s all or nothing either I write nothing or I spend 3 hours documenting everything thought I had that week#I think a lot of this has to do with my persistent issues with time management#and I’ve tried to hide this struggle in a lot of ways because ngl it’s embarrassing#to the point where I held myself back from doing certain things I wanted to do because ‘hmm could you handle it though you’re already#struggling to manage in school with the bare minimum. maybe you just suck’#and this is probably because I went to a college prep school so yeah#there were 14 year olds taking multivariable calculus and people with various talents#to say that I was intimidated would be an understatement. it’s strange because while in middle school my self esteem was decent it dropped#in high school like how stock prices dropped in the beginning of Covid#even though I was like an ok kid I somehow convinced myself that I was dumb and inept#all because I struggled with one area in my life#honestly I’m not sure if I can paint a clear picture of this time. for one#memories are complex. but I do remember feeling that way and needing a lot of support to be hyped up#fuck#I’m now remembering how my aunt used to be that person. she was my cheerleader growing up and practically raised me in childhood#she passed away from cancer right when I turned 15#shit I’m crying now#during this time in my life I needed a lot of reassurance since I took any small failure as a sign from the universe that I was indeed inept#it was her and my middle school friend who used to rant to me about dragon ball and pewdiepie that hyped me up#my parents were a mixed bag. unfortunately they too sorta overreacted to things like getting a B in math. they used to make me feel like#uchiha-gaeshi overshares

Think people are making too big a deal out of the pokemon lore leaks. Yeah it’s cool to see concepts for the sinnoh creation myths, but they’re still just scrapped content. They’re not “canon or “official”
#I’m glad the in game canon myths are more vague and up to interpretation rather than a complex mythos#also everyone freaking out about typhlosion. it’s literally not canon it’s just some employee being a freak. it’s fine everyone calm down#all of the betas are very interesting though I’m a lot more interested in beta sprites and concept documents#although my GOD were the gamefreak employees who made the design documents for skyla/lenora/iris varying levels of racist.

9/11 conspiracists frustrate me so bad. Yes, Dick Cheney gave an order to shoot down United 93. However, he unknowingly gave this order minutes after it had already crashed. This is well documented. It is also well documented that the passengers were trying to take back the plane and the hijackers deliberately crashed it to prevent that from happening. You can read the transcript from the cockpit if you want. There were multiple eyewitnesses on the ground in Shanksville who saw the plane in its final seconds, no evidence it was hit by anything. Their accounts are also documented. We don’t need to make shit up.
#it’s one of the most documented and witnessed events in history!!!!#the conspiracy started after September 11th#when the us military industrial complex used the events of that day to manufacture two forever wars in the name of oil#9/11#United 93#september 11

Unlock the other 99% of your data - now ready for AI
New Post has been published on https://thedigitalinsider.com/unlock-the-other-99-of-your-data-now-ready-for-ai/
Unlock the other 99% of your data - now ready for AI
For decades, companies of all sizes have recognized that the data available to them holds significant value, for improving user and customer experiences and for developing strategic plans based on empirical evidence.
As AI becomes increasingly accessible and practical for real-world business applications, the potential value of available data has grown exponentially. Successfully adopting AI requires significant effort in data collection, curation, and preprocessing. Moreover, important aspects such as data governance, privacy, anonymization, regulatory compliance, and security must be addressed carefully from the outset.
In a conversation with Henrique Lemes, Americas Data Platform Leader at IBM, we explored the challenges enterprises face in implementing practical AI in a range of use cases. We began by examining the nature of data itself, its various types, and its role in enabling effective AI-powered applications.
Henrique highlighted that referring to all enterprise information simply as ‘data’ understates its complexity. The modern enterprise navigates a fragmented landscape of diverse data types and inconsistent quality, particularly between structured and unstructured sources.
In simple terms, structured data refers to information that is organized in a standardized and easily searchable format, one that enables efficient processing and analysis by software systems.
Unstructured data is information that does not follow a predefined format nor organizational model, making it more complex to process and analyze. Unlike structured data, it includes diverse formats like emails, social media posts, videos, images, documents, and audio files. While it lacks the clear organization of structured data, unstructured data holds valuable insights that, when effectively managed through advanced analytics and AI, can drive innovation and inform strategic business decisions.
Henrique stated, “Currently, less than 1% of enterprise data is utilized by generative AI, and over 90% of that data is unstructured, which directly affects trust and quality”.
The element of trust in terms of data is an important one. Decision-makers in an organization need firm belief (trust) that the information at their fingertips is complete, reliable, and properly obtained. But there is evidence that states less than half of data available to businesses is used for AI, with unstructured data often going ignored or sidelined due to the complexity of processing it and examining it for compliance – especially at scale.
To open the way to better decisions that are based on a fuller set of empirical data, the trickle of easily consumed information needs to be turned into a firehose. Automated ingestion is the answer in this respect, Henrique said, but the governance rules and data policies still must be applied – to unstructured and structured data alike.
Henrique set out the three processes that let enterprises leverage the inherent value of their data. “Firstly, ingestion at scale. It’s important to automate this process. Second, curation and data governance. And the third [is when] you make this available for generative AI. We achieve over 40% of ROI over any conventional RAG use-case.”
IBM provides a unified strategy, rooted in a deep understanding of the enterprise’s AI journey, combined with advanced software solutions and domain expertise. This enables organizations to efficiently and securely transform both structured and unstructured data into AI-ready assets, all within the boundaries of existing governance and compliance frameworks.
“We bring together the people, processes, and tools. It’s not inherently simple, but we simplify it by aligning all the essential resources,” he said.
As businesses scale and transform, the diversity and volume of their data increase. To keep up, AI data ingestion process must be both scalable and flexible.
“[Companies] encounter difficulties when scaling because their AI solutions were initially built for specific tasks. When they attempt to broaden their scope, they often aren’t ready, the data pipelines grow more complex, and managing unstructured data becomes essential. This drives an increased demand for effective data governance,” he said.
IBM’s approach is to thoroughly understand each client’s AI journey, creating a clear roadmap to achieve ROI through effective AI implementation. “We prioritize data accuracy, whether structured or unstructured, along with data ingestion, lineage, governance, compliance with industry-specific regulations, and the necessary observability. These capabilities enable our clients to scale across multiple use cases and fully capitalize on the value of their data,” Henrique said.
Like anything worthwhile in technology implementation, it takes time to put the right processes in place, gravitate to the right tools, and have the necessary vision of how any data solution might need to evolve.
IBM offers enterprises a range of options and tooling to enable AI workloads in even the most regulated industries, at any scale. With international banks, finance houses, and global multinationals among its client roster, there are few substitutes for Big Blue in this context.
