What makes Osamu Dazai a member of team mint?

Similar to Vlad I didn’t have enough material on Dazai, so I decided to read his route and I don’t regret it one bit. A lot of things concerning what flavor he was had gotten the chance to be cleared up in his route. To my surprise he ended up being a part of team mint! I definitely thought he was going to be in team bourbon or team matcha…

Dazai is an enigma who is cheerful on the outside, similar to Cater Diamond from Twisted Wonderland. Right from the start we see Dazai’s feelings of being someone undeserving of love to the point that he wishes everything to wash away. Then, like in a single flip Dazai leaves us with a mysterious smile on if what he said was the truth. All of this is eerily similar to Cater who leaves with a smile on his face only after he’s done sharing a glimpse of how he really feels. Taking into account what I said earlier about how similar Dazai’s actions are to Cater, we can see the close bond to team mint.

The basis to team mint is their refreshing actions, so what are his? Well, through his stories it’s common to see that he doesn’t act even remotely similar to any of the other residents. Each time he approaches the MC it’s never done on his own accord. I feel that a majority of their reactions are by chance or because everyone is together. That doesn’t mean the two never interact on his own. In fact, Dazai makes an advance at night when he meets the MC in the hallway by herself. After meeting there he takes her into his room where they talk and learn how he never approached her because she’s always surrounded by others. This kind of thinking is rather refreshing as he doesn’t lie to her but tells his thoughts on the table. The point I’m making is how Dazai is one of few residents who don’t actively search her out, despite wanting to be near her.

Another refreshing action of his is how smoothly he captures the room, it’s almost like he guides it in his direction. That is quite common for team mint as they’re able to control a room’s atmosphere how they please. Speaking of interactions, Dazai is notorious for teasing Isaac, which is on brand for team mint. See, everyone from team mint has a tendency to tease those close to them. For example, Jade leech from Twisted Wonderland, often teases those in the same year or his under classmates. A moment in particular being when he teased Riddle for running around in his dorm after the rain.

Once in love Dazai is refreshing like mint, so if you’re a fan of his I highly recommend no one. I honestly was going to, but team mint has some pretty weird otome routes. I definitely wouldn’t recommend them to newcomers. Instead, how about Arthur Conan Doyle, a fellow vampire from the same title. Like Dazai he has the refreshing air, plus it comes with a sad backstory for those who love crying to their phone.

dazai's practically the same with listening to rants, the fact that you're so similar to him in that way is comforting in itself because he knows that if you were to come to him with problems, you would understand that he would jump straight to advice rather than sit there and be a comforting prescence for you. that way he wouldn't feel like something he couldn't give was being expected of him. that being said, he is really good with physical comfort, he's very affectionate; he just doesn't have the words

he does give really good advice though. you have a problem that can be fixed with logic? you're going to be absolutely fine. probably the one downside is that he's pretty harsh with his advice on people problems, like if you're struggling with a friend he doesn't know all that well, he'd probably say something like "and if you try everything and they still don't change their behaviour, you'd be better off without them" (he's usually right, just fails to account for how it may be hard for you to let them go if it got to that)

really interested in the things you make, when he sees you working on something creative he'll never fail to ask about it. or cheekily stay there watching until you mention what you're working on without him saying anything. he'd also just ask you to draw him, and probably throw in some joke about how he's always thought his true calling was modelling. as long as your comfortable with him doing so, he'll end up showing off your works to other members of the agency. "my [nickname] is so talented!"

will definetely take every opportunity to tease you for your height (he's 5'11), given you're not self conscious about it. "do you need me to lift you up to reach that shelf?" Flavor of Love matchup! Ikemen Vampire Edition!

This one is for @astralmysteria ! I’m so happy you came back for another matchup! I thought about this for a very long time. Ikemen Vampire is a rather angsty game there’s a lot of dark events, but I find it to be interesting. I always suggest people start with Issac’s or Arthurs route before they go any further. Certain routes like Vlad, Charles, Jean or even Dazai’s are very heavy in emotions. So, I think starting with something fluffy is better before you dive headfirst into the angst that is ikemen vampire. That’s just my thoughts, on to the matchup!

Hmm, this was quite a troublesome part on my end, I was struggling between two suitors for you. Option one was Dazai and option two was Theodorus, very different options but I sway more towards Theo. That’s not to say Dazai isn’t in the equation, rather I see Dazai as someone attracted to you, but will never state it out. In fact, he’ll see you as someone unattainable and that he’s unworthy of such a person. That’s as far as I see your relationship pursuing. Of course, none of this is set in stone, so if you chose to, you may actually end up pursuing him, but only if you wish to.

Under the circumstances you do make the choice to pursue Dazai, expect a rather long journey to him. Falling in love is easy but getting him to the finish line is more difficult than you could imagine. Dazai’s not one to say he’s done to deserve any of this, even after you become a couple. When you’re together it’s not overly romantic either, which is just another reason for him to watch you from the sides. The only way to see him slip is when he shows true care towards you when the two of you are alone. From there you’ll start to notice more of his actions.

After learning more about this mysterious man, read his works. You’ll be quite surprised to see how Dazai feels about his life through his books. Since you’re already in too deep at this point, talking to Dazai about everything is the last step.

Moving on to Theodorus, I see your romance forming from the classic friends to lover's scenario. During the first week Theo and Vincent will be trying their best to make you feel comfortable. After all, being trapped in an unknown place is quite unsettling, so it’s perfectly fine to feel uneasy. Although Theo has a strong front, he’s actually a soft marshmallow under all that. Paying attention to your actions and taking note when you feel uncomfortable will only prompt him to do more for you. In a way Theo will be taking you under his care with Vincent.

At one point you may find yourself helping out Vincent and Theo’s painting business. Perhaps as an assistant or even as a model for an upcoming painting. Whenever you’re with him, you’ll be having so much fun the day passes by in a flash. That’s not to say there won’t be overly long days. Getting to know Theo on a personal level might take some time as he’s not one to say everything all at once.

In Genshin Impact, I match your OC with...

My first thought was Alhaitham but I think Mason and Kaeya would be an unstoppable duo. They’re both super flirty and have a mocking/teasing side to them so they’ll get along surprisingly well.

Kaeya’s a master at manipulation so he knows what signs to look for when someone is trying to manipulate him. Mason’s going to have his work cut out for him.

I don’t see Kaeya as someone who really gets jealous since he’d feel like a hypocrite if he chastised Mason for flirting with others when he’s doing exactly the same thing but he might feel a bit insecure at times. It’s just because of his past.

Mason would be hard pressed to find someone more confident in the entirety of Teyvat. At least on the outside. Sure, Kaeya’s got some self-worth issues inside but externally, he’s all about parading his confidence.

While their similar personalities might cause clashes on occasion, I think Mason and Kaeya would be a great couple. It’s mutual that they find each other interesting so there’s never any need to worry about one party becoming disinterested.

Much like Kaeya, Dazai checks a lot of Mason’s boxes for a love interest. He’s flirty, confident, intelligent, entertaining, and, most importantly, not easily manipulated.

The only way Dazai is getting manipulated is if he wants it to happen. He’s too observant and has been around too many manipulative people to miss the signs. He might let Mason think he’s being manipulated for a while before reminding him that it’s not that easy.

Everyone around them is slightly concerned by the mind games they’re constantly playing. Whether it’s Mason or Dazai that started it, you can be sure neither one is backing down.

There’s always some kind of flirting going on as well. Between Mason and Dazai, nothing’s off the table so they’re free to say what they want around the other person. When they’re in public however, they’ll hopefully tone it down…
