exomemories are like. you died. you're back now. are you? do you count as alive? did you come back wrong? you remember the feeling. you don't remember it at all. it was yesterday. it was a very very long time ago. it hurts. it's kind of peaceful. you can go weeks without thinking about it. you think about it constantly. it shapes you as a person. it doesn't define you. you're alive. you're still dead. y'know?

...sometimes she comes to you as Death, The Mother, and she is stern and hard like packed Earth, but that doesn’t mean she’s uncaring or not nourishing, it’s just a different aspect.
And then other times, she’s Mama Death. And she comes, and she’s always taller than you and tells you to come sit in her lap, and you do. And she reminds you to laugh and to smile not in spite of, but because of the End. She lets you play her rib bones like a xylophone, climb her spine like a ladder. She’s all bones and cloth but she’s warm, somehow.

"A story doesn't need a theme in order to be good" I'm only saying this once but a theme isn't some secret coded message an author weaves into a piece so that your English teacher can talk about Death or Family. A theme is a summary of an idea in the work. If the story is "Susan went grocery shopping and saw a weird bird" then it might have themes like 'birds don't belong in grocery stores' or 'nature is interesting and worth paying attention to' or 'small things can be worth hearing about.' Those could be the themes of the work. It doesn't matter if the author intended them or not, because reading is collaborative and the text gets its meaning from the reader (this is what "death of the author" means).
Every work has themes in it, and not just the ones your teachers made you read in high school. Stories that are bad or clearly not intended to have deep messages still have themes. It is inherent in being a story. All stories have themes, even if those themes are shallow, because stories are sentences connected together for the purpose of expressing ideas, and ideas are all that themes are.

Hello! I’m Jackal 💚 Welcome To My Blog 💚
I try my best to tag common triggers in the #trigger format (ie #bugs #blood #suicide #animal death) for ease of filtering. I apologize in advance if I miss a post here or there, and if you have a specific trigger you’d like me to tag or watch out for, feel free to message me or drop an anon in my askbox.
I frequently post about grief and death under the tag #death tag, and I also post about love and community under the tag #love tag. I also occasionally reblog nudity and tag it #nudity but I do not tag things #NSFW. My queue is tagged #q.
Other than triggers and the tags mentioned above, I tag media for my own organizational purposes rather than for use as a content filter, but no hard feelings if you filter it anyway, I get it lol. I also just talk a lot in the tags in general, since I have a million thoughts all the time forever 💚
Also, I avoid reblogging guilt trippy posts, even if I agree with the message, because I find they can exacerbate my own (recovering) traumas. I try to avoid paranoia-inducing posts as well, even if they’re jokes, for the same reason.
If you message me and I don’t respond for a long time, please don’t take it personally! I have some mental health issues that can make socializing difficult occasionally. Super sorry in advance!!

btw if you ever reblog any of my posts (especially those spiritual in nature) with  #cw death I am going to have to hold your hand and look at you in the eyes for a moment and smile gently and say No. No we do not warn for Death here, she does not give warnings, this is a concept you have to on some level become comfortable with in order to fully exist in the material world.
