Here you are, on the floor coloring when your mommy comes in and says that it’s time for your bath. You absolutely hate baths and your mommy knows it to which is why she’s trying to make it a fun experience. “Come on princess, it has lots of bubbles and toys just for you!” She said happily as she bends down to pick you up but you push her away which makes her eyes widen at your actions.

She bent down and grabbed your chin between her fingers and made you look at her. “Don’t you ever push me away like that again. Do you hear me?” She said sternly as you slapped her hand away and pushed her away from you again. She felt her blood boil and she had to control herself from losing it but she decided to give you another chance. “Come on princess. I know my sweet little girl is in there. Let’s get you in the bath okay?” She said softly.

“Nu! DONT WANT BATH NU!” You yelled out and starting throwing a bad tantrum which made your mommy shocked. What the final straw for her was when you started throwing stuff at her like your crayons. She scooped you up in her arms and laid you over her lap. “You better start counting little one and if you mess up we start over.” Your mommy said sternly as you were thrashing over her lap. She gave you one smack to your behind and that made you stop crying.

“Count.” She said lowly in your ear as she spanked you again and you squeaked out a one which started the counting. She gave you fifteen spankings before you were crying again. Your mommy lifted you off her lap and carried you to the bathroom where she gently sat you down on the cool counter top which made you whimper. “You can take a quick bath okay? Then after you get out I’ll put some cream on your butt to make it feel better okay?” She stated and you slowly nodded your head, not wanting anymore spankings. “Good girl.” She whispered softly as she kissed your forehead softly which made you pout and slightly whine.

You pointed to your lips and she chuckled. She lent down and gave you a long peck on your lips which made you smile. “Come on my princess.” She said lifting you and putting you into the tub. Rhea started to wash your hair and then started to clean your body and soon enough you were done. “Mommy cans I plays wif my toys nows?” You asked her, hoping that she would say yes. “Hmmm I guess you can little one. While you play I’ll go get your pjs.” She said you thanked her and started playing with the bubbles and your toys.

A few moments later your mommy got your pjs ready on the bed along with the cream to help with the redness on your butt. She came back into the bathroom and saw you playing which melted her heart. “It’s time to get out princess.” She said as she lifted you up in her arms and immediately got out a warm towel for you to wrap up in. You laid your head on her shoulder and started yawning as she held you in her arms while she was putting the cream on your butt. After she was finished she helped you put on her shirt she lets you wear and a diaper in case you had an accident.

“We are going to talk about your behavior tomorrow okay? What you did today was not okay sweetheart.” She said with a disappointing voice which made you sad. You nodded your head in understanding and got underneath the covers. Your mommy joined you and you immediately cuddled into her which made her smile and pull you closer to her. “Mommy loves you koala.” She said softly as she rubs your back as you start to fall asleep. “I wuv chu too mommy.” You said before you were out like a light. “And I love you most.”

Blog Post #3 - The Child Star Fate

Think about how many child celebrities you know. Now think about how many have had “successful” careers (at least by today’s standards). How many did you count?

Bella Thorne—an ex-child star—launched her career on Disney Channel, akin to many other child stars, but these days most of her fame comes from being featured in articles headlined “List of Child Stars Turned Bad.”

During Thorne’s time at Disney, she was adored by little girls. People loved her spunky character, Cece, and loved Thorne just as much because of it. Thorne even released music with Disney and got several songs onto the Billboard Hot 100. She ended up becoming an advocate for children with dyslexia. She did it all, and people thought she was going places. People saw her potential.

When Shake It Up was canceled, Bella Thorne was coming into her late teen years and started appearing in media that was more age-appropriate. She played roles in The Duff, a teen romcom, and The Babysitter, a teen comedy. As she was growing older, her roles were too.

After some roles in films and small parts in TV shows, she had her directorial debut with PornHub, created an OnlyFans account, and began dating/hanging out with problematic celebrities like Tana Mongeau.

How many other celebrities can you think of with a similar path as Thorne? Miley Cyrus, Britney Spears, Amanda Bynes, Lindsay Lohan, and Demi Lovato just to name a few. As these child stars grew older, they began to make risque, oftentimes illegal choices, that brought them lots of attention in the media.

Of course, there is nothing wrong with Bella Thorne pursuing pornography as a career, however, this is clearly some sort of pattern where these child stars feel a need to embrace their sexuality as they grow older. Everyone goes through some sort of stage in which they embrace their sexuality, but child stars tend to do so in a very overt and often problematic way.

There are lots of reasons why this happens. One major reason can be a traumatic childhood, which Bella Thorne had as she was a victim of sexual abuse and began her acting career to help her family with money. Many other child stars have spoken about eerily similar childhoods. Trauma at a young age, obviously, impacts decision-making and human development in general. This among many other factors can lead to the “child star path,” however, I believe that the MWD is one of the greatest contributors.

When child stars are children, they are treated as Madonnas. It’s completely sick and pedophilic, but people often think of and will treat these children as untouched and therefore “pure” girls. They are innocent and are therefore clean and worthy of respect. They’re young and all potential—and therefore are treated as Madonnas. However, as these girls grow older, they may realize that they don’t want to be treated as Madonnas—which, again, is completely fine—and would rather be seen as sexy and adult. They may look up to celebrities such as Kim Kardashian who is seen by the media to be sexy and beautiful while simultaneously maintaining a level of respect in the media, despite her career having been started by a sex tape. These child stars may want to be wanted; to have people falling at their feet the way Kim Kardashian does.

To be clear, child stars, just like anyone else, don’t necessarily want to be the Wh*re in the MWD; they still want to be treated as humane and may even want to have families in the future. They just want to be simultaneously sexy, famous, and respected—respected in the same way any other human deserves.

However, they’ve maintained a certain image for a very long time—that is, the image of being the innocent, childlike Madonna. However, they are now adults and don’t want to be seen that way. This is where they begin to become overtly sexual to overcome being viewed as a Madonna. This may be because the star wishes to do so, the star’s manager’s wishes, the record label, etc., or a combination. Nevertheless, the outcome is almost always the same.

This is how we get videos such as Wrecking Ball. Not to say that Miley Cyrus created this video purely to overcome being seen as a Madonna—there are many reasons why she would make that video. However, there is little doubt in my mind that the MWD plays a large role in the purpose of the video.

By no means did the public respond positively to Wrecking Ball. It sparked immense controversy in the media due to its highly sexual nature—leading people to call Cyrus “crazy” among many other, oftentimes nastier names. Cyrus’ intention was more likely to be viewed as sexy, but the media began to treat her as a Wh*re. People wanted her to be banned from YouTube. People thought that her embracing her sexuality was disgusting. She was ostracized and lost a great level of respect—something that, in many ways, she is still trying to overcome despite her complete change in style, music, and general character. 

This happens to most, if not all, people who go down the “child star path.” They are told they’re “washed-up” and “child stars gone wrong.” These women make these choices due to the massive influence of society that leads to their desire to be perceived as sexy, yet society criticizes these women for doing so.

After that stage, these child celebrities often end up having drug and alcohol abuse issues, mental health struggles, and other problems. This will often lead to the destruction of their careers. I certainly can’t remember the last time I heard Amanda Bynes’ name in the media.

Not all child celebrities have this path, though. Zendaya is a prime example of a child celebrity who continues to have an excellent career in adulthood. However, she’s one of few and far between. Even Ariana Grande and Selena Gomez, two child celebrities now with highly successful careers, have struggled greatly with mental health issues, Ariana Grande struggling with alcohol abuse as well. 

The MWD is directly affecting the course of many people’s lives, specifically child celebrities who often fall fate to the “child star path” in life, and end up becoming “washed-up.” Society turns on these women, going from treating them with a great level of respect as Madonnas, to treating them as Wh*res, after being the ones to put pressure on these women to become sexier in the first place. If society can change this line of reasoning, then other child stars can be saved from falling to the same fate.

i've had to unfollow a couple of aro-positivity blogs bc they hammer how at the same time they complain about friendships being deemed lesser than romance, and also about romantic shipping somehow ruining every canon or fanon friendship/platonic/etc thing those characters had.

"Why do you ship those characters???? Do you hate platonic friendships????" Well you see, they're friends in canon, and various relationship settings are interesting to explore between characters who have a strong bond. The same way people write pre-dating pining/falling in love/backstory/just being friends stories for canon couples. Just like sometimes people decide those two were matched in a way that doesn't jive with them and break them up in their fanfic.

"Shipping a character who doesn't have a love interest in canon is arophobia!!!" Yeah and you can only have one OTP else the characters are cheating on each other. Each pairing can only be written with a dynamic as close to canon as possible, else you just don't understand the source material. Writing an interpretation of the source means that you think that's exactly what the original writer implied, and the only correct interpretation.

"Shipping an aro character is just like making a gay character straight!!!" Neither of which are actually inherently bad and poorly handled things. Excluding making a case for characters being romance-positive/demi/gray/in qprs/etc while incorporating canon/subtext/word-of-god aro elements, because ppl writing those posts are often (rightfully) cool with it, it's also just. yknow. fine. Case-by-case, if you will. Sometimes a character dynamic would be interesting because characters are more than their orientation and also NOT REAL PEOPLE with no internal lives, likes and dislikes, boundaries, etc. You can modify things about them. It can be done in a poor manner, and denote a misunderstanding of aro issues and identities, or straight up bigotry. It can also just be that it's interesting to write about. Like genderbends for example. Many of the same arguments can be used there.

Anyway. Of course amatonormativity is real, and very present, and overwhelming, and exhausting. But the thing is that no fanfic interpretation REPLACES the original text or another interpretation. Friendships and other platonic relationships are not valued enough, given enough spotlight in media. But the answer to that isn't to chastize people for being creative and violating the integrity of a fictional character's identity. Encourage depictions and explorations of less normative relationships (not in the romantic sense of the word, all kinds of relationships), as well as the weight they hold. Educate people on aromanticism, amatonormativity, etc. I know you're already doing it, and it's not working, but trying to shame people for being creative is not gonna make it work faster.

Also re: in most cases, characters should not use therapy-speak to communicate or think, because that's not how people function in real life. Same thing applies. Just like internalize homophobia is a staple of many gay fanfics that wish to deal (however superficially and however in-depth as they'd like) with the topic, amatonormativity is going to be a feature of many fanfics about characters living in a world that, modeled after ours or not, was still created by people living in the same amatonormativity as we are. Usually, unless they actively work to insert non-amatonormative elements in their worldbuilding or specific story setting, writers will create a world through the prism of our society's amatonormativity, thus creating an amatonormative setting producing characters that think amatonormatively. It doesn't stop them experiencing things outside of the realm of that "normality", but it does influence the way they'll think and act about it.

There's few situations in which a long internal monologue about which modern queer lingo is appropriate for their feelings doesn't feel a bit shoehorned (and no hate if you want to write or read a feelgood piece instead of detailing internalized bigotry in all its complexity, to be clear, but that's a writing choice not a moral requirement to signify that This Author is Aro-Positive). Thus, characters will think about, act, narrate their story, etc, as they experience it, with the knowledge and vocabulary they have. Every action is only as romantic/platonic as the people doing it intend to make it, and every action you see on screen is up to your interpretation because characters don't have intentions.

I can write about two characters having sex, and not include a huge paragraph about how totally romanticism-less this whole thing is, because it would be completely out of character for them to apprehend these concepts in these words, and I don't want to tackle the WHOLE damn split-attraction model or every possible non-amatonormative way to conceptualize fuckbuddies arrangements, because I'm writing prose and not an educative guide. They fall for amatonormative ideas that are restrictive and don't encompass the full spectrum of human relationships. Hell, maybe the writer does too, even if they do challenge some other amatonormative ideas. But in any case, it does not erase any narrative of platonic feelings for those characters. The flavor-text reiterating amatonormative ideas ("this COULDN'T have been friendship" "relationships fixed them and they were so so sad and miserable before", etc) is annoying, but 1st of all educating is always better than chastizing, and 2nd of all sometimes prose is just hyperbolic like that, idk, there's notes of biphobia in how some stories highlight the character's first gay experience, but it's also just resonating and amplifying the feelings some people really do feel in these situations. That's a writing thing. Not universal to every style, but common.

yeah. non-amatonormative rep is good. less creative endeavors is bad.

I mostly make OC x Canon or Envy content using various 3D softwares like Source Filmmaker, Blender, MMD and VRM Posing!

If it’s not obvious already, I’m a self-shipper. I only have one f/o which is my Envy from Fullmetal Alchemist, despite them being evil and all that, they have been a huge support for me through some really tough times. I’m also a fiction kin, where I also kin Envy. We share a very similar mindset and we’re both outcasts of our Family. (kinda referring to 03 Envy here) and we're both extremely jealous over other people. I tend to 'switch' into Envy at times, sometimes I'm aware but sometimes I have no idea. I have not yet been diagnosed with any form of a split personality disorder, but I'm working on getting a new therapist so we'll see. There is a possibility that I have a mild form of it but I'm not gonna make any claims until I have an actual answer.

If you are also an Envy self-shipper then I kindly ask you to not interact with me, I’m sure you and Envy are absolutely adorable together, I’m just uncomfy with other Envy self-shippers. I already know I’m gonna get a lot of hate for that, but I mean no harm nor do I intend to be rude. I get easily jealous, it’s been a life-long problem so I doubt it’s gonna change anytime soon but I try not let it get the better of me. 

I self-ship to cope, I only have one f/o and they mean so much to me, my feelings and the connection I feel are very much real even tho it’s a fictional relationship. I believe it's a soulbond, that seems to make the most sense.

♡ Some things about me ♡

╰┈➤ I'm a selective mute, I do not talk much nor do I write much, I grew up pretty much alone so I never spoke much to anyone.

╰┈➤ Due to trauma from family and ex lovers, I get triggered and scared really easy. I do not feel comfortable going into details, I know i've spoken about it before but I don't remember how much I actually said. Because of Autism and trauma my mental age is different from my physical age.

╰┈➤ I'm not the type of person that trusts other easily, too many took advantage of that in the past.

╰┈➤ I may have "furry" like characters but I left the fandom quite a while back. No hate towards them, just got a bit uncomfy from some situations.
