Tour of my travel altar!!
Was gonna call it a pocket altar, but you could not fit this into your pocket lol. It fits great into a backpack or purse though!!

This big bag has a lot of stuff in it, including two tins. One is premade with a bunch of witchy spell ingredients, the other I made for Dionysos.
I have a small container of salt, and a bottle with (ethically sourced!) mica powder and beads for scrying. I got it the perfect moss color! Plus a little fidget toy and a tiny incense tray, plus some extra incense to pick from when giving offerings
I have a lot of trouble scrying in stationary things like mirrors, but things like ink, mud, entrails, clouds, things with shapes, are MUCH easier for me to read. I have a bigger jar of it too, this is just a cute tiny one I made for out and about!
The little purple bag is filled with charms, that way if I want to pray a bit more formally out and about, I can set up the little icon with the incense offering while I pray. Some I have for specific gods, and others are ambiguous for any lesser known gods I may just want a symbol for. I also have lots to choose from because gods have different epithets!

The larger green bag contains a small obsidian for scrying, some prayer beads I made out of crystal bracelets, and a metal pendulum with animal bones inside it

The first tin is the premade one. This was a gift. It's got bay leaves, black salt, rosemary, lavender, a dragon's blood candle, a VERY Wiccan prayer that I can't peel off (covered in bay leaves bc it's cringe). It's important for me to clarify that yes, there is Palo Santo in this kit. I am very aware that it is being over harvested, and that it is harming the planet as well as indigenous communities. I do not purchase Palo Santo. I plan to use this small piece of it so that it doesn't go to waste. I would not purchase Palo Santo or white sage (unless the white sage was from my tribal reserve, but sadly it's like 4 hours away from me).

This one is my pride and joy. This is my mini Dionysos altar. It's got a little skull, a quartz, an amethyst, a Chevron amethyst pendulum, a coffin nail, a bay leaf, a lighter, some incense matches, little metal pots from a doll house that work really well for incense, a candle full of herbs and oil for him, and a (mostly burned) cinnamon stick.
There's also one of the translations of his hymns on the inside cover. I plan to change it to a translation I like better soon, this one was made to be more flowy and rhyme, which is fine but not what I'm looking for anymore. Still shocked I wrote that on that tiny paper, if you could see the back you'd see the first draft I fucked up haha

When I play my devotional playlists, I immediately feel a little better. Even when I’m really down. Sometimes we forget that music isn’t just pretty stuff for our ears, it’s energy and vibrations. Love my lord Dionysus playlists especially.

Dionysus was there when those two boys got too drunk at the party and sloppily kissed in the alley. What are they doing? What does it mean? What are they to each other? It doesn’t matter.
Dionysus was there when the girl who was sick of her hair went mad in the bathroom and buzzed it all off. In that moment, she was flying, and she truly felt free.
Dionysus was there when the girl was standing in front of the mirror, about to take a shower, putting lipstick on her eyebrows and eyeshadow on her cheeks, looking wild and partaking in the gentle joy of painting her face, knowing that before she is seen again, she can wash it all down the drain.
Dionysus was there the first time the 30 something man tried on a dress. As he poured himself a glass of wine and posed in the mirror. How elegant he was in the cramped confines of that dingy motel. For tonight, he can be his effeminate self, knowing that this secret is all his to indulge in.
Dionysus was there when the girls got together, removed their tight bras and danced in freedom as they burped and screamed and cried and howled. These women are insane! How mad they become when they’re free from the burden of society! They were laying on the floor with their stomachs out, breasts sagging, hair disheveled, saying crude words that women must not say. For a moment they were no longer trapped in suburbia. They were in the wild woods, far away from any rule or law. They were free! Free and mad!
Dionysus was there, and no matter how hard they try to deny it, he will always be.

Dionysus represents much more than the God of Madness and Frenzy; he embodies the essence of mental health. Dedicating time and effort to healing your mind can be seen as an act of devotion to Dionysus. This is why advocating for, discussing, and learning about mental illness and your experiences can be so beneficial.
He is more than just the God of Wine; he also embodies sobriety and restraint. He teaches us moderation, guiding us not to overindulge in what our bodies cannot handle. Choosing to abstain from alcohol or maintaining sobriety can be a profound act of devotion as well.
Excessive consumption, whether it's alcohol, negative thoughts, or anything else, can be harmful. Dionysus serves as a reminder that healing from such excesses is possible.
While he embodies the spirit of fun, enjoyment, and hedonism, I don't believe he would want you to indulge for the wrong reasons. Whenever I felt too serious or caught in a downward spiral, he would remind me that it's okay to let loose, but also to stay attuned to my feelings. I don't think he would shun you if you're not having too much fun. If you're not feeling okay, then you're not feeling okay. There's nothing wrong with that.
If anything, Dionysus seems like the ultimate god of self-care. Taking your medication, staying hydrated or drinking other beverages (I personally find that hot chocolate boosts my mood), spending time with friends, or even enjoying a solitary walk in nature—all these activities can feel like acts of devotion. He is love and full of love. A god of duality and balance.
He can embody the warmth of summer and the freshness of spring, just as he can evoke the chill of winter. He's complex and multifaceted. He is a god of rebirth, death and immortality. He to me, resembles a phoenix. He means so much to me and my practice. My heart has so much room for him. He has shown me that regardless what I've experience, it is possible to change and heal. His own love feels poetic.

Only you know your relationship with your god. Don’t second guess it.
It saddens me to see posts on here and on other sites about how having a causal relationship with your god is disrespectful and you shouldn’t give them nicknames. That just makes me so upset every time I see it.
Because one of the things I know for a fact is if a god felt disrespected by your behavior towards them, you’d know.
If xyz didn’t want you to treat them like a sibling, best friend, mentor, parent, (or even a lover. Not my place to judge.), you’d know. Just because you have that type of relationship with them doesn’t mean you don’t respect them or don’t work with and/or worship them.
They’re gods, yes. But they also love you and want to help you. You felt how they appeared to you, I bet you knew very quickly what type of relationship you’d have with them. What type of role in your life they would fill. Or maybe you didn’t and it happened a lot more slowly. All of that is okay. What’s also okay is if you have a very strict relationship with them, that’s also fine.
But my goodness don’t try to police or judge how gods are with other people.
99.9% of the time it’s the gods setting that type of dynamic in the first place so please be respectful to other dynamics.
You’re not better than other worshipers because you don’t joke around or call a god your bestie.
