Can you show how you made the aerochamber?

Hell yeah!!

Supplies:

- cardboard tube (tp tube, or paper towel tube if you don't wanna use something that was by your toilet)

- if paper towel tube, scissors to cut it

- tape

- your inhaler for size reference

Take your paper tube and cut it to the appropriate size if it's big

You're gonna fold in one end of the paper tube, making it smaller, using your inhaler for size - ideally, you want it to fit snugly but so that it's easy to get in/out.

Ta-da! Very makeshift aerochamber.

Like, obviously this isn't as good as a real aerochamber - but for the purpose of "aerating the medication so you can inhale it rather than have most of it hit the back of your throat" it works decently well! To use it I just stick the end of the paper towel tube over my mouth and use my inhaler.

(for those unfamiliar, inhaler medication needs air to mix with to work - if you're just sticking the inhaler in your mouth and using it that way, the medication hits the back of your throat rather than going into your lungs and is apparently significantly less effective. So this is a good makeshift alternative.)

The pharmacist who suggested a makeshift one suggested a paper cup or red solo cup with a space for my inhaler cut out of the bottom, and then you seal the mouth of the cup over your mouth/chin. So that would be another option! This was just easier for what I had in my house.

Nano Silver Fluoride (NSF)

Nano silver particles have the ability to remineralize enamel, in adult and children’s teeth [yes also “baby teeth” aka “milk teeth”] even at a low concentration. It is bactericidal to a wide range of organisms like Streptococcus mutans, Enterococcus faecalis, and Escherichia coli. It has anti-biofilm properties as well.

HOW?

ANTI-BACTERIAL – Silver ions in solution are toxic to bacterial cells, and are especially effective against acid-producing bacteria, like S. mutans, the bug that causes dental caries (cavities), so it mechanically kills the infection already there.

PREVENTS BIOFILM FORMATION – A two-drop treatment lasts about a year, and during that time prevents new bacteria from colonizing the tooth surface, e.g. prophylaxis against new infections. This preventative strategy does not select for a population, so it doesn’t create drug-resistant bacteria! (phew!)

REMINERALIZATION – Nano Silver Fluoride not only prevents further decay of the dentin, it can actually help to rebuild and recover from damage that has already occured.

So, how do I use this inexpensive, completely safe, super-effective treatment???

CLEAN

This is a critical step as you do not want any particles of trapped food to prevent the solution from making contact with the tooth surface.

To prepare the tooth, first brush your teeth, then floss. Because the solution is itself anti-bacterial, it is not required to rinse with antiseptic mouthwash, or to debride the tooth surface any further.

DRY

Moisture will prevent the Tooth Seal from bonding properly with the tooth. Dry the tooth using cotton balls or paper towels. Place dry cotton balls or paper towels between the cheek and gum to keep the cheek away from the tooth, and to soak up any saliva being produced. Keep saliva away from the tooth during the process.

APPLY

Two drops placed on a cavity or on a tooth you’d like to protect, creates a concentration of encapsulated silver that adheres to the surface of the tooth and provides protection for about a year. If you use a cotton swab to apply, add one additional drop to account for what gets absorbed by the swab. 

The solution should be left in contact with the tooth surface for 2 minutes. • Do not lick your teeth during that time. • Don’t eat or drink for 2 hours after application. If necessary, repeat the process in 10-12 months.

anyway my point is: you mentioned a gender clinic referral in a tag and i'm a trans man also in the uk with a lot of experience in that area so i thought this might help in some way 👌🏼

if you've gone through the nhs, the wait times are astronomical (the shortest one is about 15 months, the longest around 62 months). the current legal limit on nhs referrals is a matter of weeks so it's literally criminal but that's another story lmao

if you go on the 'transgenderuk' subreddit there's a pinned post with current wait times and there's a wealth of information and people happy to help with anything from name changes to 3 stage surgery. also the nhs are notorious for just. not referring people to their gender clinics so if you did go through them it may make sense to give them a ring and check they did their job!

if you went through a private gender clinic and haven't heard back in months, 1000% follow up. the longest reply time i've heard is a month or two and the longest appointment wait i've seen is 7 months

lastly: there is another route. it's a lot more popular for transfems to do it, given feminising hormones are legal here but masculinising ones aren't, but transmascs (myself included) can 'diy' hormones, if hormones are the transition route you're after. even after i checked with like... tons and tons of people and different resources i was still terrified but it does work! also i get if a stranger on tumblr dot com doesn't reassure you, but i wanted to let you know about the option because it honestly saved my life and i think more transmascs need to know about this as a route especially those in this hell country lolol

for more info i would recommend the diy hrt wiki, just google that term and it should come up. i should mention though, with this though you're probably going to have to inject yourself which i know isn't for everyone (i used to need to have someone on facetime with me for like 45 minutes hyping me up lol). there is gel available on some sites but it's super expensive. also some sites will have tablets for sale but they don't work to masculinise unfortunately. OH and it's also recommended that you do blood tests semi regularly (once or twice a year) to test sex hormones and some other things like your liver, which you'll probably have to pay for yourself if you diy - in saying this though, the cost of 6 private blood tests, and 3 years worth of T and injection equipment would cost about the same as the initial appointments you need with the more reliable of the 2 private gender clinics. something something seize the means of transition

anyway. this is an absolutely insanely long message and i'm so so sorry if this is too much and too like... invasive but whats the point of having trans resources if you dont share them and whats the point of having a trans community if you dont trans commune 😎🏳️‍⚧️
