Finished the Stained Glass heart for Odysseus that i'm using for my Love In Paradise Animatic

Currently thinking about the scene in Don't Go when Catra asks Adora "Why did you come back for me" and Adora mentally just bluescreens and finally says "Because....because you're Catra" like girly was just so, SO blind to her own feelings at that point ;_;

I mean even the scene (in the show) where they decide to rescue Catra, Adora can't bring herself to say it, and Glimmer has to say it for her

Can I just say it's surprising that after 4 years... we STILL don't know for sure that Nate Stevenson wrote Don't Go? Like, he obviously doesn't NEED to comment on it and we should obviously respect his privacy. But it's just kinda weird you know?

It'd be friggin hilarious if it turns out that Don't Go wasn't Nate's fic and we've actually been fangirling over this random other fic instead.

Prompt 17 - Don't Go

This was the moment that they had been building to ever since that first stolen kiss. 

“Please don’t go,” James begged him. “Please, Reg. Please,” Regulus swallowed. He’d prepared for this, and he’d thought James had as well. 

“James, you knew this was coming,” He said gently, scratching his left forearm over his jumper. James sniffled. 

“I know, but I thought we’d have more time. Please, you don’t have to go, we can figure something out. Maybe my parents can…” James tried to negotiate with him. 

“No, James, this has been the plan since before I even started school. 

“Please,” Tears dripped down James’s face. Regulus rolled his eyes. 

“For crying out loud, James, I’m only going to Edinburgh for Uni. It’s not the end of the world. You’ll visit constantly, and I’ll be at yours over the holidays and the entire summer. We’re hardly going to be apart, plus we have the rest of our lives together,” Regulus squirmed uncomfortably once he’d finished talking and pulled his new jumper off. The wool was itching his skin terribly. 

“I still don’t want you to go,” James mumbled unhappily. 

“I know, love,” Regulus said, cupping his boyfriend's face and pressing their lips together.

“Lord, you two are ridiculous!” Sirius scoffed from his place on Remus’s lap. “Why don’t you just apply to Edinburgh and finish off your degree there?”

“Oh, that could work,” James said, looking to Regulus for his opinion. 

“It’s worth a shot,” Regulus replied, feeling lighter. 

“Idiots.” Sirius snorted, shuffling around to bury his face in Remus’s chest.

He took his lip between his teeth, trying to read the angel’s thoughts in his miniscule expressions. “Wh— why now?”

Aziraphale’s eyes snapped up at him, wide and unblinking as if he didn’t expect the question. He shook his head, hand falling to Crowley’s chest against the erratic thumps of his heart. “It’s been a long day,” he muttered, focus now on their hands between them.

A snort tumbled out of the demon’s lips, the corner of his mouth tugged up slightly. “You weren’t the one who had to deliver the damned baby.”

i read your analysis posts about catra & adora in "taking control", and i'm curious what your take on "don't go" is, since it's supposed to kinda fill in the gaps of that episode?

Short answer: I haven't read it, and don't particularily intend to?

Longer answer: I don't assign much weight to supplementary materials in general; while con panels, early drafts, cut scenes, etc can be interesting for the insight they give into the creative process (and can absolutely be mined for fun headcanons or fic ideas), at the end of the day, the show is the show.

If there are parts that didn't work as aired - the only way that the majority of the audience is going to interact with it - then those parts didn't work, and I'm more interested in understanding why they didn't than in finding an after-the-fact fix.

And I feel the need to repeat: my frustration with Taking Control isn't in any particular diagetic event - it's in how those events ended up being framed. "Adora, desperate to regain Catra's affection, lets her worst impulses get the best of her, realizes that, backs down, and in so doing gets a taste of the prize she's been so desperately trying to seize." is a perfectly solid plot, and absolutely the right beat for that point in the narrative.

It's just badly undermined by a camera that seems to be sitting there going "oh, but really, those worst impulses aren't so bad."
