Jay's Nightmare a Hello Neighbor Short
By Roy Roth
It was a long and stressful day for Jay Roth, who had a bad day at work, unlike his wife Luanne.
Jay looks in the mirror with a bizarre expression.
Jay: "i gotta tell you this launne, this job isn't paying me well, and all this stress is getting to me."
Luanne: "Oh, honey dear, it's just stress. All you need is a bit of relaxation and sleep, of course."
Jay’s POV: The mirror in front of him cracks slightly as if in response.
Jay: "A bit of that for one or two weeks is enough for me."
Jay dives into bed, pulling the covers over himself.
Luanne: "Good night, honey." Luanne turns off the light next to her.
Jay: "Sweet dreams, launne." Jay also turns off the light on his side.
Jay kisses Luanne on the cheek before going to sleep.
??? (Female): "Eww, I think I’ve been kissed by a J**"
Jay: "What?"
Leslie: "Hey, is this our bed, or are we in the wrong room?"
Jay: "Huh?"
Gordon: "Does anyone have a Golden Apple coin with them?"
???: "I do."
Jay: "Now what in-"
Suddenly, random people appear in bed with them.
Random People: "HII!"
Jay: "Luanne, there are strangers in our bed!"
Luanne: "What are you people doing here."
*Door knocking.*
Jay: "Now what?"
Jay opens the door, and a random couple walks in.
Ellen: "This motel isn't so bad right kids."
Shaun and michael: "Yep."
Martin: "It might not be bad but the state where are in is so bad."
Jay: "What the—"
*Door knocking.*
Emily: "Tip him."
Henry: "yes honey. Here ya go."
Jay: "Umm, excuse me, this isn't a—"
*Door knocking.*
More and more random people enter the room.
DoorDash Guy: "Order's here."
Jay: "I didn't order anything—hey, wait!"
Jay shuts the door loudly, getting everyone’s attention.
Jay: "People! People! What and why is everybody in our house? And who told all of you that our house is a motel?."
As Jay tried to make sense of the chaos around him, he heard rustling from under the blankets. To his surprise, his college friend, Miguel Esposito, emerged, looking sheepish.
Miguel: "Hey, Jay. Uh... so, funny story—I think I messed up."
Jay: "Miguel What Now."
Miguel: "So, I accidentally gave the wrong location for the motel I own. Instead of people going there, they ended up here."
Jay: "What?! How does that even happen?"
Miguel: "I mixed up the GPS coordinates, and now everyone thinks this is the motel. They’ve been coming here all night."
Jay stares at Miguel in disbelief as more people wander through the house, some even helping themselves to snacks in the kitchen.
Jay: "Miguel, you can’t just use my house as a motel!"
Miguel: "Come on, Jay, it’s just for one night. I’ll fix it in the morning, I swear!"
Miguel gives a nervous laugh, but Jay's stern expression doesn't waver.
Jay: "My house is not for sale."
Miguel: "Well, of course not, but it is for rent."
Everyone burst into laughter, filling the room with noise.
Miguel: "I’ve got all my staff outside waiting for orders. Say, does anyone want some snacks or drinks?"
Crowd: "We do!"
As one of Miguel’s staff members opened the bedroom door, the roomful of people spilled out, tumbling onto the floor. Jay found himself buried under the pile of bodies.
Jay: "Luanne, honey, help! I need to move, Luanne, I—"
Suddenly, Jay jolted awake, gasping for breath.
Jay: "Oh, good God. Luanne, I just had the craziest dream ever. Our house was being rented out—can you imagine that?"
Jay turned around, expecting to see Luanne, but instead, his heart nearly stopped. Everyone from his dream was still there, crowded in the room.
Miguel: "That wasn’t just a dream, you know, pal."
Jay: "Aaaaaahhhhhh!"
In a panic, Jay bolted out of the room, dashed outside, and jumped into his car. Without looking back, he sped off down the street.
Back inside, Maritza watched through the window, confused.
Maritza: "What’s wrong with your dad?"
Nicky: "I have no idea."

Dr. Tarr's Torture Dungeon (1973)
Tumblr media
While I didn't enjoy this film, that doesn't mean you won't. No matter what I say, the people involved in this project did it: they actually made a movie. That's something to be applauded. With that established...
Anyone who sits down and excitedly wonders what horrors await inside Dr. Tarr’s Torture Dungeon will be disappointed. The alternate title of The Mansion of Madness is far more suitable and more properly sets you up for a film that remains lackluster regardless of what you call it. This movie’s plot is too obvious and too badly written for you to care what happens in the end.
Reporter Gaston LeBlanc (Arthur Hansel) is writing an article about famed psychologist Dr. Maillard (Claudio Brook). Arriving at Maillard's asylum, LeBlanc finds the doctor’s methods unorthodox to say the least. Captivated by the beautiul Eugénie (Ellen Sherman), LeBlanc fails to realize the inmates are in charge of the facility.
Loosely based on Edgar Allan Poe's darkly comedic The System of Doctor Tarr and Professor Fether, the film has a good premise. Imagine visiting a place only to discover that the patients have taken over. You're surrounded by madmen and can't escape. That's scary. To make it work, you need two things. First, a slow-boil plot. If everyone comes out of the gates raving like lunatics, you’ll figure out the whole thing immediately. Second, you need an intelligent protagonist. If you want to make the audience laugh, they should be dumb but if your goal is to scare, Gaston needs to be sharp. Once the deception is revealed, he needs to fake his way through this ordeal and exploit every means of escape possible. That’s what the audience will be doing mentally. Unfortunately, director Juan López Moctezuma fails to do either.
The Mansion of Madness a.k.a. House of Madness a.k.a. Dr. Tarr's Torture Dungeon does nothing clever or new with its concept. As Gaston approaches the sanitarium, the friends traveling with him suddenly have to cut their journey short. Obviously. If they stuck around, they'd reveal that the man in charge of the asylum isn't Dr. Maillard at all. They're useless until captured by the lunatics. At this point, they become worse than useless and star in a subplot that has no impact on the main story, whatsoever. They prove that all of the sane people in this movie are complete idiots. At one point, one of them escapes. The man’s all tied up and hopping around in the middle of the forest, trying to elude the insane rapists who roam the grounds surrounding the mental institution. He should look for a way to untie himself. Instead, he screams for help, practically begging to be recaptured. Here's a free lesson for all the screenwriters out there: audiences want to see a part of themselves in the on-screen characters. Having them behave like they have no sense of self-preservation is a surefire way to make everyone hate your movie.
That subplot is ultimately nothing more than padding and it’s not the only example of director Juan López Moctezuma struggling to find a way to make his movie feature-length. At one point, Eugénie and Gaston become romantically involved. So involved they profess their love to each other. They’ve exchanged fewer than 5 lines of dialogue. It’s ludicrous and another reason for you to dismiss the movie entirely. It doesn't stop there: unnecessary bits of backstory, garish opening credits, unbelievable behavior from our heroes, mountains of coincidences, and so on and so forth. Dr. Tarr's Torture Dungeon is a complete misstep any way you look at it. (English version, January 15, 2021)

Astrology & Voice : A Quick Study
1. Prominent 3h placements can give you a very distinct voice
2. People who have a deeper/huskier voice often have Mercury aspecting Pluto. Ex: Miley Cyrus & Whitney Houston (both have mercury conjunct pluto)
3. Mercury in a water sign can give the native a very sultry voice. They probably sound a lil intimidating and their voices will always be slightly low pitched (Zoe Saldana, Lana Del Rey, Pamela Anderson, Adriana Lima, Gisele Bundchen)
if Mercury is in Cancer, the voice tends to be soft and calming to hear. Ex: Margot Robbie, Elsa Pataky, Kate Beckinsale etc
Mercury in Scorpio gives the native a certain, almost nasally twang to their voice, it's not exactly nasally but i cant think of a good way to describe it, its deeper and fuller sounding but there's a certain twang to it.
Ex: Kim Kardashian, Katy Perry, Julia Roberts, Madonna, Kris Jenner, Demi Moore, Gabrielle Union & Miley Cyrus
especially Miley & Demi have this very gravelly cigar smoking kinda voice
Mercury in Pisces gives a very intimidating, richer or fuller vocal timbre
Ex: Mariah Carey (her speaking voice), Sharon Stone, Liz Taylor, Alan Rickman, Lucy Lawless, Juliette Binoche, Fergie (her speaking voice)
4. Mercury in Fire signs gives a rather shrill voice, unless there are other aspects involved
Others may find their voice/talking irritating; they often have "vocal fry" esque tendencies
Mercury in Leo: Jennifer Lopez, Cameron Diaz, Demi Lovato, Lindsay Lohan
Mercury in Sagittarius can give you either a very husky, sensuous voice or a very "loud" one, there's no in between
Ex: Scarlett Johansson, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Vanessa Paradis, Carla Bruni, Bjork etc
Mercury in Aries natives have a very tonal pitch, their voices have a very "radio announcer" quality, idk how to describe it 😭😭
Ex: Diana Ross, Jessica Chastain, Madison Beer, Carmen Electra, Jennifer Garner etc
5. Mercury in Earth signs
Mercury in Taurus also gives natives a very soulful, deep-ish husky voice. They're very sexy sounding
Ex: Gigi Hadid, Uma Thurman, Brooke Shields, Selena Quintanilla, Renee Zellwegger etc
Mercury in Virgo: these natives have a very "sing song-y" voice, they speak in a very rhythmic way and modulate their voice very well. if you listen to any of their interviews, they always speak like they're telling a story, if you know what I mean.
Ex: Madonna, Kylie Jenner, Hugh Grant, Monica Bellucci, Amy Winehouse, Salma Hayek, Dakota Johnson etc
Mercury in Capricorn gives natives a raspy voice, their voices tend to be very low pitched and some of them kind of sound like they have a perpetual cold
Ex: Taehyung, Zayn Malik, Shakira, Alex Turner, R Kelly, Alexa Demie
Sometimes however it can give the native a very "sugary girly" voice
Ex: Milla Jovovich, Taylor Swift, Zooey Deschanel, Ellen Degeneres
6. Mercury in Air signs
Mercury in Gemini natives are very verbose; they're articulate but they're very wordy; they also speak in a rather expressive manner; usually they're very well spoken
Ex: Angelina Jolie, Elizabeth Hurley, Helena Bonham Carter, Courteney Cox, Stevie Nicks, Cate Blanchett etc
Mercury in Libra natives often speak in a very expressive and animated way, its so cutee🥰
Ex: Catherine Zeta-Jones, Zendaya, Brigitte Bardot, Bella Hadid, Kate Winslet, Emma Stone, Gwen Stefani, Sophia Loren etc
Mercury in Aquarius: ive often noticed that these natives can sound a bit clueless or zoned out when they're speaking 🤭
Ex: Harry Styles, Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Aniston, Paris Hilton (in the 2000s at least)
