The worst kind of abuse is emotional abuse. The wounds of physical abuse can be seen and healed, but a victim of emotional abuse silently suffers his whole life. The scars are though invisible, but the pain is immeasurable and unutterable.

Clearing out so much trauma today. Wondering why I had to go through all this. Reading stories of people who have abusive parents and knowing I’m not alone and it’s far more common than you think. If you have unsupportive parents know that I’m supporting you ❤️ the day I got hit by a car, I felt like I couldn’t even call my father because he said he wanted me to get hit by a car. My mother didn’t come visit me in the hospital either, instead her advice was to call the suicide hotline and she hasn’t spoken to me since that day. Recently I found out my father is opening my mail which is a felony and violation of privacy. Such deep triggers coming up. I don’t want to feel like a victim, I just want to release this trauma and pain and know why it’s happening so I can move forward and maybe help others from my experience. #tbt When @cassandrabellstudios initially called me about taking the part as the Heart 💜 in The Survivor’s Monologue I was excited and afraid at the same time. To be a part of a movement that knocks on the door to the pain that affects so many people, including my own, was frightening and yet I said yes. Being a part of this production has been therapeutic for my own pain. As a child I witnessed my mother being beat down by the hands of men she claimed to love including my own father. I would cry trying to comfort her only to be pushed away because the bruises on her body made my touch too intense. I went through life vowing to never allow myself to become “silly” as she did so I blocked my heart extremely. Only to wake up one day realizing that I had fallen into the same cycle of abuse that my mother did by the actions of someone I gave my heart to. It took me a long time to understand the difference between being a #survivor rather than someone’s victim.🙌🏾🙌🏾 God has a way of putting us in position with other individuals that can lift our hurt. This was me as a victim of sexual, financial, emotional, physical and psychological abuse. This was New Year's Eve and I do not look like I am having the time of my life, that is because I wasn't. At that time I felt that I was at the end of my life because my abuser violated every part of me. I shutdown every part of my being as I had no hope left, I had no energy left, I had no strength left... I had nothing left. It is one of the absolute worst feelings, being alive but not being able to live. I did not stay because I loved him, I stayed because I was terrified of this monster who in my eyes was only waiting to end my life every single day. I left him in 2012 because I felt that it was NOW or NEVER. I had to leave or I was dead. I am so extremely grateful that I spoke up and left, I saved my life! It has been 8+ years but I never let my guard down. I always stay vigilant because when someone is capable inflicting unimaginable pain on someone they "loved" then they are capable of everything and anything! I am stronger then he ever was or will be! My mom always told me “You have to let go of the burdens you carry because you will stay in that and miss out on life”. I always thought to myself how could I let go of something that hurt me deeply? How do I forgive someone I hate? How can I just let go of it all and go on with my life? I never knew how to do that. It wasn’t until I decided to dig up the pain and look at it, feel it, understand it, and understand why it hurt me the way it did and why the person hurt me the way they did. When I did that it showed me that just like I hurt so do other’s. And what was it inside of myself that was not secure to where it got wounded easily. People hurt you because of their own hurts. What they do to you is an reflection of their character and what they feel about themselves. But I also learned that people were able to hurt me because secretly I hurt my own self in private with insecurities and negative thoughts about myself. So when people did something or said something it hurt me bad because secretly I believed the same lies about Me! When you understand people, the pain they caused and your own inner being. You are able to forgive and do the inner work it takes to have boundaries and self love,respect as well as being sure to build yourself up each and everyday to not be a victim to these things. From an outsider's perspective, it seems pretty straightforward. If someone is abusing you, physically, verbally, or emotionally — you leave. Why would you stay with someone who is causing you pain, making you afraid, or even damaging your children?
