Band au!!

The ninja: A VERY popular band with huge turnouts for their concerts. Their music can vary a lot, but they land solidly in the alt-pop/rock area when they aren’t doing any sort of solo acts.

Kai: Basic electric/acoustic guitar, but he’s the lead vocalist and absolutely SHREDS when a song calls for a saxophone. Master of improv and is able to continue on with confidence if something goes wrong at a show. He likes it when he gets the chance to scream and jump.

Music type examples: I/Me/Myself by Will Wood, some of Bleacher’s more popular songs, Grandson, Bruno Mars, and a lot of FoB type-stuff.

Jay: Plays a little of everything, but his one true calling is the main melody on electric guitar. His fingerpicking skills are unparalleled. Girls throw themselves at his feet. It’s so sexy how fast his fingers move. He’ll also record some solo tracks on uke!

Music type examples: Complicated guitar melodies, All Time Low, and for uke think of stuff like ToP’s House of Gold and The Judge. The Orion Experience’s The Cult of Dionysus.

Cole: Bass guitar, and a little slap bass. He CAN NOT improv, he’s too scared to. Out of all of them he practices the most. He can do some solo piano stuff too, but not keyboard. Mostly stays back and lets the others take the spotlight, but when he gets really into it he might go up front and dance around with Kai.

Music type examples: I don’t know a lot of bass-centric songs, but he enjoys a lot of songs like Love Grows Where my Rosemary Grows. Autoheart. IDKHBTFM.

Zane: Keyboardist with experience in violin. When he gets in The Zone you cannot pull him out of it for anything less than the venue being on fire. He enjoys both fast-paced and slower music, and will sometimes join in on vocals.

Music type examples: Jake Wesley Rogers, Golden Hour, Cody Fry

Nya: Drums. She wants to hit things. Smack. Anger management. People are SO into it.

Music type examples: Anything with heavy drums and drum solos.

Jesse: Up and coming artist who does a lot of stuff with his sister. Can’t play any instruments too well so she makes tracks for him to add vocals to! He opens for the ninja a lot at their concerts.

Music type examples: Jake Wesley Rogers, other stuff you have already talked about, Bruno Mars if he’s feeling confident.

Olivia: Popular solo artist with a cult following. Leans heavily into the alt-rock and electronica scene. Sometimes she’ll hire the shark army as background players. Dances a LOT.

Music type examples: Paramore, P!atd, All Time Low, Daisy Grenade, K. Flay, and SPECIFICALLY Black Sheep from Scot Pilgrim vs. the World

Antonia/Bridget: Managers for the ninja/Jesse and Olivia respectively. God help them.

Jamie: Stage hand and photographer for both! He focuses too much on Olivia, though. Is it hot in here or is it just him? Has nothing to do with the drop she did while dancing and how she looked into the camera- no way.

Nya: We're really calling ourselves "The Ninja"? Kai: It's quick, it's catchy, it fits nicely on merch!!

Nya: Jay, I need you to stop being so hot while playing guitar Jay: It's not like I can turn it off???? *plays a riff* Nya: Pls your fans are starting to bruise with how hard they're falling at your feet Sunni: *lying on the floor* One more solo please!! I can handle it!!

Honestly, I only started this poll for a bit of fun, but I'm really glad I did. Let's see

Lloyds- I'm pretty sure I said somewhere Luh-Loyd can't stand scary movies, so he can barely tolerate either, but Lil'Loyd loves both and drags the Ninja into marathons with him, especially around the Day of the Departed.

Kais and Nyas- Buddy Kai is an avid fan of Goosebumps and Cyan Nya binges Are You Afraid of the Dark? and the two have epic debates arguing in favor of each and refusing to watch the other's preference unless Luh-Loyd is there to torment and one happens to be on. Spike Kai and Red Nya didn't get the chance to enjoy them growing up while keeping themselves afloat but have gained an appreciation for them when Lil'Loyd introduced them.

Jays- Freckles Jay also hates scary movies, though he manages a bit better than Luh-Loyd, so the campy style of the sillier Goosebumps books is about his level of tolerance, he definitely prefers the books to the show as then he can read and stop at his own pace if it gets too much. Nick Jay DEVOURERED both shows as a kid, but has more exposure to Are You Afraid of the Dark? than Goosebumps because living out in the middle of nowhere had very limited library access and slightly less limited TV signal and that was the channel he got.

Zanes- Zen Zane had no exposure to the series until Lil'Loyd's marathons, and while he doesn't get why they're supposed to be scary, he still enjoys watching them with his friends. Pep Zane watched and read everything because they were popular and what 'normal kids' read and he wanted to fit in. However, Goosebumps' A Shocker on Shock Street's twist ending hits a little too close to home for him, and he hasn't picked it up or watched the episode since.

Coles- Cliff Cole is a Goosebumps fan. As the only Show Ninja with a relatively normal education up to a certain point, he actually got to go to book fairs as a kid and loved them as a kid. Particularly because his mom would read them to him and do the best spooky voices. DJ Cole similarly prefers Goosebumps for the same reason and passes that on to the kids he babysits when they make the mistake of asking for that as a bedtime story. The kids both love and hate him for it.

"Focus, Lloyd. Control the power inside you. When you feel a surge welling up, harness it." Jay hummed, watching with anticipation as Lloyd held a lightbulb in his hands.

"I understand, I am in control." he groaned out, the lightbulb slowly glowing green. Jay smiled, rubbing his hands together, "Come on, Lloyd. You can do it." he cheered. The bulb continued to get brighter and brighter, the rest of you were standing at the edge of the dojo watching with uncertainty.

As the bulb continued to glow, a cracking sound filled the room. You turned to Cole, whispering a small "Do you hear that?" As the sentence left your mouth, the bulb exploded, shards shattering in a circle around Lloyd.

"Aah! Stupid light bulb! You're putting too much pressure on me, let me have one more try." he begged. Kai walked up to him, placing a reassuring hand on his back, "Ugh, sorry, Lloyd. That was the last light bulb."

Lloyd frowned, you knew he'd been practising extra hard and yet this is all he had to show for it, a bunch of broken bulbs. Cole grabbed a broom from the supply closet and offered it to Lloyd, "Clean up, Lloyd. We'll continue training tomorrow."

The rest of you gathered into a small group, Jay frowned, rubbing his hands against his face in defeat "What am I doing wrong, Sensei Wu? I can't seem to teach him to control his power."

"Patience, Jay. Sometimes, the greatest opponent we face is ourselves, and that's especially true of Lloyd. Remember where he came from, he's the son of Lord Garmadon. It's going to take time for him to embrace the light." Wu stated, wise as always. You all collectively nodded, but you just wish this whole green ninja, light vs dark thing would happen already. 

It always felt like you were one step closer to winning but then the rug would be pulled from under you and you'd have to start all over again. Checking the time, you mumbled to Cole that you were leaving; duty calls so to say.

You were a teacher at Lloyd's old school, though now it was solely for good. You had always wanted to be a teacher, so you could help others and see where their paths would go. It brought you no end of joy, and Kai did say you always liked a challenge. So when the opportunity arose for you to teach at this wayward boarding school you ate up the chance.

Leaving your small village, you couldn't wait to start the next chapter in your life. Your friends were very excited for you, though Nya and Cole seemed a little reluctant.

"What if something bad happens to you?"

"What if the school is still secretly evil?"

"How will we hang out all the time?"

"Who's going to make me cake?"

But it all ended up working out, you got a few days off every so often and would spend the majority of that time with the ninja. Today was your last day off after a three-day weekend. So, with your bags packed, you set off and found your way back to the boarding school in no time.

"Hey there, Miss (L/N)." Brad smiled, watering the flowers outside the main entrance. You thanked the taxi driver as you climbed out of the vehicle, pulling your bags with you, "Brad?" you questioned.

You looked around but saw no one else with him, "What are you doing out here? Why aren't you in class?" 

"Oh, erm, well-" he stuttered out, you were now standing in front of him, teacher mode activated. You nodded your head to the entrance, "C'mon, let's get you back to class; we'll talk about this later." you followed on behind him, the large doors slamming shut behind you.

As you were walking, the wheels of your luggage click-clacking along the wooden floor, you noted the lack of students or even teachers in the hallways.

They're probably all in class, you thought.

You had followed Brad to his correct class, watching as he approached the door. But he turned to you before he went in, "Oh, Miss (L/N), I think Principle Noble wanted to see you." with that he walked into the room before you could question why.

You shook the strange thoughts from your head and approached Noble's office, no point in keeping the man waiting. Your skin broke out in goosebumps, even though this school taught good, you couldn't escape the villainous feeling that followed you down every hall. Approaching Nobel's office, you knocked lightly on the door, hearing a short "Come in!"

"Principle Nobel, you wanted to see me?" you said as you opened the door, only to find the office empty. 

"Get her!" came a voice from behind, and then you slipped into a deep sleep.

"Hehe, at least I'm getting better." Lloyd joked as he landed the ultra-dragon, the others slightly shaking as they jumped off the beast. Cole sighed, kissing the ground, "All the same, I'll take the reins going home. Just to be safe."

"Lloyd?" Brad called out, the same watering can in his hand like before. Lloyd shook his head in disbelief, "Uh, Brad?"

"You came!" Brad launched himself at Lloyd, capturing him in his arms, "So good to see you!" Lloyd struggled to get away from Brad's grip, scratching his head when he was finally free, "It is? Y-you put fire ants in my bed, remember?"

"Please forgive me, I wasn't myself and have learned the error of my ways." Brad begged, his attention soon turned to the others, "And you must be the ninja!"

"Uh, guys, meet Brad Tudabone." Lloyd introduced, Brad proceeded to shake everyone's hands, "Such a huge fan! Go good! Haha. Uh, please, will you follow me to see the Principal?"

Brad led everyone inside, the hallways still empty as were the classrooms, "Uh, shouldn't you all be in class?" Cole questioned. He would occasionally pop his head into a room to see if you were teaching, only to come up empty-handed.

"Actually, today is a new Darkley School tradition: Ninja Day. We stay out of sight to honour the way of the ninja for showing us the light." Brad smiled, continuing down a few more hallways.

 Cole stood straighter, baring his chest out with his hands on his hips, "Huh, this is a good school. I'm impressed."

The group arrived at a door, a shadowy figure behind it. Brad rasped his knuckles along the wooden frame, "Principal Noble? Lloyd and the ninja are here for the ceremony."

"That, and the cake. By the way, do you what kind it is?" Cole butted in. Noble's voice echoed out of the room to the ninja it sounded fine, but something about it put Lloyd off, "I'll be with you in just a moment."

Brad excused himself, something about tending to his flowers. Jay looked around, uneasy, "Um, heh, has anyone seen a teacher yet?"

"Indeed, their absence is most strange," Zane added, but no problems came up in his systems. The office door slowly opened, Noble's voice continuing, "I'll see you now. Come in, come in."

"This sucks," you huffed, feeling the harsh fibres of the rope rub roughly against your skin. A handful of students stood in front of you with guilty smiles, "Sorry, Miss (L/N). But this is all part of the plan to get revenge on the ninja!"

"Where are the other teachers? What have you done with them?" you question, glaring at one boy in particular. Gene stepped forward, separating himself from the crowd, "They're in the staff room, we brought you here because you're different."

"Different?" 

Gene shook his head, walking around you as he monologued, "You not only know the ninja, but you're also quite close with them too. We've done our research and thanks to Ninjago Gossip, we know you and the Earth ninja are in a secret relationship!" he accused.

You jolted at the accusation, eyes wide and mouth agape, "W-what? T-that's not true." you rambled, "Me and Col-I mean the Earth ninja aren't in any kind of relationship, that's just a rumour." you continued. Gene continued though, "Whatever it is, he'll come to your rescue and then we can further my genius plan!" he cackled.

"What happened to being good, I thought you were enjoying the new classes?" you sighed out, wriggling against the ropes. Gene chuckled weakly, "We were never good, we only enjoy being pure evil!" The rest of the children laughed along, they soon left shortly after to, quote-on-quote, "Deal with the ninja."

At least you knew the ninja were here, and Cole would come looking for you. Yet knowing that the whole of Ninjago thought you and Cole were dating was something your brain couldn't wrap around. Sure, you went on that date after the serpentine hypnotised Jamanakai Village. And sure, you perhaps went on three more dates after that, but you were never official.

A few minutes had passed, you hated how actively your mind was thinking about Cole now. Luckily some commotion from outside broke you free of your thoughts, it sounded like something serious was happening. The sound suddenly stopped, you leant forward trying your best to understand the situation.

Just then the door burst open, smoke and dust clouded the room before a figure became visible. Dressed in all back, you'd recognise that gi from anywhere, "Cole!" you beamed. He looked at you with mischievous eyes, you couldn't see his full face but you could only assume there was a grin to match.

"You look good like this, makes me not want to untie you."

"W-what?" you gawked, unsure if you heard him correctly. He came to kneel in front of you, placing a delicate finger under your chin, "Maybe once this is over, we can go back to your place, huh?" he pulled his mask from his face; and what do you know? He was smirking.

You opened your mouth weakly, unable to say anything in response. Cole smirked, "What? Cat got your tongue?" He eventually unwrapped you, keeping you close in his arms, "C-cole, what's gotten into you?" you finally managed to say. Cole twirled you in his arms, pulling you back and forth in a swift dance, "Maybe the schools rubbing off on me."

"Maybe," you whispered, now extremely close to his face. You and Cole had yet to kiss, again, you'd only been on a few dates and the most it led to was falling asleep together on the couch in your apartment. Lost in your mind again, and partly Cole's eyes, the Earth ninja pushed his head forward and connected your lips together.

It felt...wrong. All this time you thought, you anticpated, that this moment would be magical and yet now you're here...it's not. There were no sparks of love, no tingly feelings in the pit of your stomach. Opening your eyes, you could feel rather than see Cole snickering above you. But now that you'd got a closer look at him, he looked different. He was a little paler than usual, his eyes not the same as before, it didn't feel like him or acted like him for that matter.

You pulled away, putting distance between you both, "What's wrong, babe?" he asked, taking steps closer to you. 

"I-y-you're not Cole," you declared, albeit nervously. This fake, this imposter, this Bizzaro version of Cole laughed, "What do you mean?"

"You're not him," you swatted away his incoming hands, he paused, staring at you. Bizzaro Cole grinned, his shoulders relaxing, "You're right, I'm not Cole. I'm much better." with that, he picked you up with little effort and flung you over his shoulder. Bizzaro Cole walked out of the classroom with you rattling and banging against his back, though it had little effect.

"What is she doing here?" another version of Kai questioned, his voice dripped with anger. You could feel Bazzaro Cole shrug, "I wanted her. You found the other ninja yet?"

Just like clockwork, the actual ninja arrived through a hidden door, "Ah. Finally, a way out." Cole beamed. Kai looked towards the end of the corridor, seeing the Bizzaro ninja, "Guys, why are we staring at ourselves?"

Cole immediately saw you, hanging over his doppelganger's shoulders like a trophy, "(Y/N)?" he whispered out. Principle Nobel and the other teachers backed away, locking themselves back in the secret door, "Uh, this is kind of too weird for us. We're gonna stay in here." 

"Ha, those who don't fight, teach." Jay joked, getting into a fighting stance like the others. Cole pointed an accusing finger at his evil self, "Drop the girl, uh, me!"

"I don't know, I quite like her. We had a good time, isn't that right, babe?" Cole nudged his shoulder jostling you in the process, you went to scream out but Bizzaro Jay had already covered your mouth with tape, bounding your hands together with some rope. The real Cole growled, pulling down his mask, how dare that guy touch you.

The battle had been raging for a few minutes, Bizarro Cole had dumbed you to the side with a promise to return after beating the 'fake' ninja. You could see both Coles fighting each other, evenly balanced as all things should be. Though, compared to the others, their fight seemed personal.

"You're gonna regret messing with (Y/N), me!" the normal Cole shouted, throwing a punch and ultimately having it blocked. Bizzaro Cole laughed, leaning in closer when he kicked his leg out, "I don't think I will, besides, she seemed to like me more anyway."

"What're you saying?" Cole growled, using his anger in his punches. Bizzaro Cole swung his leg again, failing to land a hit, "I. Kissed. Her." he spoke with each swing. That's when Cole felt truly lit by rage, "YOU WHAT?" he bellowed out, going into a fury.

How dare this freak touch you, kiss you! That should be him, well, the good version of him, not the evil one; ugh, all this clone stuff was confusing.

"Ugh, we're so evenly balanced- oww -this fight could go on...forever." Jay sighed his movements much slower than before. Kai tumbled into a locker, blocking another punch, "We can't give up. Keep fighting!"

"NINJA, GO!" the battle cry of the ninja. The hallway was full of small ninjas, each coloured and dressed in fastly-made gis.  

"Hey, it really is Ninja Day!" Cole mused, sliding away from his counterpart as the children dogpiled him. Kai watched with confusion until the lightbulb clicked, "Oh, I see what they're doing! They're trying to confuse them!"

"Yeah, but it's confusing me, too." Jay stumbled back, falling into the lockers. Zane pulled him up, helping to adjust Jay's mask, "Keep your focus." he then used spinjitzu to destroy his counterpart.

"It works just like Gene says. If you can land a punch, they'll be defeated!" Lloyd beamed, jumping in the air with a fist pump. Once Cole heard this, he wound up his fist and landed a harsh blow onto his counterpart. The children holding him down released him, and the Bizzaro version of Cole faded away.

"Aargh! Good riddance!" Cole dusted his hands, flicking his gaze to you, still bound and gagged by the lockers. He rushed over to you and, with delicate hands, pulled the tape away, wincing at the sound, "(Y/N)," he scanned over you.

"Cole, you saved me, again." you moaned towards the end, you didn't want to be known as the ninja's damsel in distress all the time. Cole helped untie you, pulling you up with a gentle hand, "Listen, I'm sorry about-"

"Don't." you cut him off, "It wasn't you, there's no need to apologise."

"But there is, I should've been there to help you. I knew you coming here was a bad idea." he frowned. You pulled him into a hug, "Don't say that, I mean, look at the students, they saved your butt back there."

"Hey, don't sound smug. I can always tie you back up again and leave you like that." you blushed at his comment, thinking back earlier to what the Bizzaro version of Cole had said. Cole seemed to pick up on this, tilting his head in confusion, "What? Was it something I said?"

"No," you laughed, shaking your head. You were still in Cole's arms, neither of you moving anytime soon. Cole lifted his arm to scratch the back of his neck before returning it around your waist, "So, listen (Y/N), about the whole kiss thing-"

"Kiss me," you once again interrupted. Cole blanked, now it was his turn to blush, "W-what?" he stuttered out. You stepped impossibly closer, if it were even possible, breath fanning over his face, "Kiss me, Brookstone."

"I-yes, mam." he hummed, leaning down and delicately slotting his lips against yours. You wasted no time in putting pressure into the kiss, feeling your palm raise to curl around his cheek while he smoothed his hands over your back. 

This felt right, this felt like Cole, like your Cole.

"Oh, man. It's so great we have the tank back." Jay beamed, amazed by all the gadgets and the sophistication of the interface. Meanwhile, you and Cole were riding the ultra-dragon. Your arms were wrapped around his waist while your head leaned against his shoulder, Cole like usual was shoving food into his mouth, "You said it, mmm." he hummed.

"Can't wait to hear what Sensei says when he hears about this." Kai joked, recalling the day's events. The small monitor in front of Kai flashed on, Lord Garmadon's image appearing on screen, "So, it is true. You have destroyed my evil ninja."

"Keep it coming, Garmadon. Your attempts to stop us are only making us stronger." Kai huffed, puffing out his chest though no one could actually see it. Garmadon sighed, "But tomorrow is a new day, ninja. Mark my words, I will find new ways to finish you, once and for al-" the screen began to fade on and off.

"What? I can't hear you." Kai teased, but Zane seemed more concerned, "Nya will be displeased, she just repaired it and it appears it already has to go back to the shop."

"Nah, it's not broken." Lloyd smiled, seconds later the screen came back on with one of Lloyd's favourite games. The ninja looked at Lloyd with shock, "You did that? But it didn't blow up." Jay said amazed. Lloyd grabbed a controller, kicking his feet back, "Hey, you go to school, and sometimes you might pick up a thing or two."

You all broke out in laughter, what a bizarre day.

Everything Right/Wrong with Ninjago “Legacy of the Green Ninja” E2: Pirates Vs. Ninja

- “… Lord Garmadon destroyed the Devourer.” I’m only gonna mention this briefly since I’ll go into more detail during season 8 but Garmadon never would’ve been able to do sh*t against the Devourer had it not been for the ninja trapping it. ❌

- “It only has the power to create!” Or it only works when you say “I wish.” You didn’t say that with Ultra, but you did say it with the pirates. Look, all I’m saying is Garmadon comes to this conclusion a bit too quickly ❌

- Taking a villain that’s bent on destruction and equipping him with a weapon that can’t destroy anything but can only create stuff is a genuinely interesting concept. Personally, I just wish it was done better than it was, because it had a lot of potential that I felt wasn’t really lived up to. ❌

- “But instead of 10 boards, how about 50?” End me now please ❌

- Also, Jeffy and Phil are literally just Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. Usually, I’d win this like I do with most references but this is a sin because f*ck JK R*wling ❌

- The ninja think it’d be too dangerous to take Lloyd with them, so they decide to leave him alone on a public bus that could travel anywhere around the city? ❌

- Did they actually have the money to pay for these costumes or did they legit steal them? ❌

- “We have to save him.” “We can’t get close enough without blowing our cover!” Kai thinks their cover is more important than Dareth. I mean, I agree, but still ❌

- Also, neither Jay nor Kai speak up when Jay says that. Again, I agree, but these guys are supposed to be the heroes! ❌

- Where are Zane and Cole throughout the entire plank scene? ❌

- “More pajama men?” “Where? I can’t see!” Are jokes about blind people forgetting they’re blind similar to when bilingual characters “forget to switch” which language they’re speaking in? ❌

- “Ninja vs pirates… who will win?” I still think that the fact that we didn’t get a definitive answer to this question is the soul reason for why Skybound was made. I’m gonna let you all decide if that’s a sin or win.

- Since when does Zane use smoke bombs? ❌

- Okay who put a gum ball machine on the Bounty and why???? ❌

- “Jay!” Okay, but I’m with Jay on this one. If y’all are gonna be dumb enough to actually fall a victim to this gum ball thing I think you deserve the face the consequences ❌

- Lloyd just completely took Zane out I’m- ✅

- Kai puts Lloyd upside down in a BARREL because surely that’s safe /s ❌

- “I just did Spinjitzu for the first time!” Why does this line delivery remind me of the dialogue from Dora the Explorer? ❌

- I know we established that Lloyd can harness all four elements of creation, but this energy ball/green power thing really did just come out of nowhere, didn’t it? ❌

- “Your powers are too uncontrollable!” Cole wants to warn Lloyd so bad that he astral projects his voice through Kai to do so ❌

- Annndddd Nya just tore the sail ❌

- “You’re getting stronger son, but you’ll never be strong enough to defeat me! Give up, before it’s too late!” Well this dynamic seems a little… different compared to the last time we saw it? ❌

- Also, shouldn’t Lloyd be getting punished for this? He was told not to come because it’s dangerous (and it is) and he ignored them and went anyway. He seriously could’ve gotten killed! I’m not saying he needs to be grounded for life or anything but the ninja should explain to him why he shouldn’t have come. ❌

- I’m sorry I love the way they’re all staring affectionately at Lloyd. Like, he’s their little brother and they love him and ahhhh ✅

What I would change about Ninjago Season 11

As much as I really enjoyed a lot of episodes in this I felt this is definitely the second worst season of Ninjago (still not as bad as Skybound) to me anyways. I might try rewriting it completely in the near future for The Flaming Juryo (and some might spoil future chapters of A Blizzard With Scales) but here’s some things I would add or remove from Secrets of the Forbidden Spinjitzu

I know it was trying to parallel how the Ninja became more lax all the way back in the first season but really after all they’ve been through they deserve to relax. The entire monastery is having some well needed rest until news of Clutch’s discovery hits the airwaves

Zane will mostly be anxious about his cryptic visions a lot more often, refusing to tell anyone after waking up. After spilling to Jay he begs him to tell no one

This is just a me thing, but I would really dig more news segments like in Snaketastrophy. Showing how the citizens react to yet another attack and with all the advertisements being about whatever is attacking next

Kai definitely has more of the spotlight this time around, he still loses his powers and is searching through every scroll he can to try and get it back. He can also still use the scroll of Forbidden Spinjitzu, but it causes excruciating pain, despite this he would rather use it than be completely powerless

Since Nya never touched the scroll in the season, I decided to give her a reason. It reminds her too much of Chen’s staff, especially how Lloyd instantly snapped at her while reading it. She refuses to use it, even in the Never Realm where any water she summons instantly freezes

Now for the Ice Chapter spoilers below

Honestly I felt Vex felt kinda like a diluted Clouse, a right hand man who had his own ulterior motives. I’ve changed his backstory completely, he’s now a previous master of ice who was stripped of his powers and was banished to the Never Realm for committing several war crimes.

He was found by the formlings and given a special tea that brought him back to his younger days. Of course being surrounded by people with all sorts of powers didn’t really help how bitter he was for losing his element, that is until he finds a certain nindroid that was banished as well.

Vex decides to go for outright brainwashing this time around, convincing Zane that his friends will just find a new member for their team just like how they found a new master of ice. That coupled with the scroll constantly corrupting him leads to the poor droid going on a rampage, eventually conquering the Never Realm

Kai continues to use the scroll in place of his powers until he finally faints from how much it was hurting him. He constantly feels powerless without it until they find Sorla, who tells him his power isn’t truly gone but has to focus without the help of the scroll

As Lloyd sets out, Jay sneaks off after him after he decides the others must know about Zane’s visions. Unfortunately this means the Ice Emperor now has two new prisoners in his keep, until Grimfax releases them that is

Protect is the only word that seems to get to the now corrupted Zane, as it’s in his code to protect those that cannot protect themselves. Of course Vex is there to convince him that they don’t deserve protection for abandoning him for years

The ninja get there long before Zane can come to his thoughts, so this means Kai will be able to go HAM on the Emperor in a Fire VS Ice battle. The two scrolls eventually break during the fight with the both of them using it

Much like Kai before him, Zane finds himself much weaker without the scroll he held for so long. It also takes him a much longer time to overcome his corruption, Vex’s fate is also a lot more.... Melty

Also at the end Zane requires a LOT of reassurance that he won’t end up like that again, especially after some long therapy

The rest of the stuff I’ll pretty much keep the same, I really like Akita and the concept of the Formlings and Clutch is hilarious in this season

ns crystalized thoughts so far, spoilers beyond this point

I felt it was a bit rushed but i mostly really liked the different ways the ninja coped with nya's loss, the way it was different from s4 when they lost zane. I particularly enjoyed that jay was being a bit of a dick about the fact that he copes differently than everyone else and that his assumption that noone cared/ remembered besides him actually ticked kai off. I've been waiting for a kai vs jay fight forever and this one payed off

super loved how nya remembered and kept fighting to get back, also the dragon form is badass even if we aren't going to get it anymore after this

ASPHEERA yall dont understand how abnormal i am about her and how she came back. I love that she and wu had their petty contest moments, i love that lloyd kept his word to her despite it all. Most of all I just appreciate how much time was dedicated to her and the issue of breaking her out, and her characterization is just 👌

the fact that kai and jay were just smiling when they succeeded even as they were being put in jail because who fucking cares? they got nya back. its so :)

that being said, honestly I feel like the season got weaker in this second... fourth? half? whatever. It was a little frustrating to see the ninja, especially lloyd, so insistent that they were better than everyone else at the prison like. with the argument that ppl doing crime chose to be there, as if the ninja didn't just experience being strongarmed into breaking the law in order to save their friends. I dont expect cutting commentary on the prison industrial complex by ninjago or anything but it just kind of felt emotionally disconnected from everything we just experienced. I dont think they had to be nice but I just think lloyd shouldn't be mouthing off about displaying good behavior and crime being a choice when the last 2-3 eps were literally ABOUT that not being the case for the ninja

kai jumping across that gap with his fire powers was sick as hell tho ngl

I'm SO glad dareth and skylor have both returned and both seem to have a somewhat significant role this season. Especially dareth, I'm happy to see him here not just being made a laughing stock of

it was again, kind of rushed, but i appreciate nya Going Thru It, and her return to samurai x. also appreciate that pix was supportive even though she's taken the role at this point, they can share and the true samuraishipping can begin :)

I have mixed feelings on the sally ep and zane's arc. On one hand I like what they were going for, but I feel like some subtlety and interconnectedness with the rest of what was going on was lost. I didn't personally want to see zane having a breakdown or something after turning his emotions back on, but its frustrating that he turned it back on and didn't show any reaction of his grief returning, something like a bittersweet cry of relief would have been nice or something. Also sally was kind of treated a bit like a joke as well which sucked bc i liked her and her story :(.

sorry to fugidove fans, but I hate him. Maybe if he stopped being touchy-feely towards jay even after he set his boundaries multiple times I would have appreciated him more, but as is I was supposed to find that funny or something when it wasn't, and i hated it

oogh tho it picks up again with the mechanic stuff. Very cool to see him fight the ninja, I really liked the creativity of these sequences, and lloyd posing as him was funny as hell

my girl rumi is BACK hee hee hoo hoo, I saw it coming from a mile away but its fine because i like it when she exists and does her thing, and im just glad she didn't die that horrible death in s9 and that was the last we saw of her or anything

Episode 41 script vs episode

Dan recently sent out emails to the international donators that got an episode script. Of course I got episode 41 because,,, y’know,, There are quite a few differences in the script that I wanted to talk about. However, I wasn’t sure if it was legal to show it. In the end I’ve decided to just describe the differences. 

(Please note that the script I was sent was the 2nd revision. There was most likely at least one more revision, so the stuff I’m talking about is obviously stuff that was taken out in the final copy).

A lot of the differences from the script and final episode are mostly slight quote changes, which I don’t think is big enough to note each one. However, small differences in the actual events include,

Skylor wearing a “maroon dress that exposes her Anacondrai tattoo,” at the beginning ceremony. It could be this dress that Tommy showed in Skylor concept art.

An exchange between Kai and Jay that didn’t make it through to the final episode. 

MASTER CHEN: Zugu, leave the red one. I want a word with him.

Before the chain gang is led out, they unshackle Kai.

KAI (whispers to Jay): I’ll figure a way out of this.

JAY: No offense, Kai, but you don’t have power; I don’t trust you. I trust Lloyd, he’s the Green Ninja. You’re always just getting us into more trouble.

KAI (offended): Fine. Then I’ll find him.

(Jay is literally why Kai is insecure LMAOOO)

Chope’s name was initially Chope-Chope, apparently

Chen is described to be acting like a cat during his fight against Lloyd lol

In the episode, Clouse pulls a lever that releases poison ontop of Lloyd, which Kai shields him from using Lloyd’s element from the staff of elements. In this script, Kai actually shields himself, because he was apparently the one under it??

The roto jet comes into the room from under Kai, which is what separates him from the staff

 There were two (imo) big differences that was super interesting to read, and what I think really makes buying this script worth it.

While Chen is showing him around the relic hallway, Kai grabs a jade blade and plans to attack Chen with it, but gets distracted when he brings up his parents. He drops the blade in front of Nya later on to show that he hadn’t actually betrayed the team (Which was too far for her to reach anyways…). Nya gets the blade when the roto jet group saves her and Garmadon, and is actually the one to break the staff of elements after Kai is separated from it.

Kai’s plan with the staff was to get it before Lloyd’s power was taken. However, Eyezor saw that he was trying to get closer to it, and held onto him. That’s when Skylor stood next to Chen. Skylor initially wasn’t meant to be involved at all! Kai telling Lloyd that he, “Had it all under control… well, almost,” was referring to his initial plan failing.

And, of course, the corruption scene itself. I’ve always wanted to find out how this scene was written, and actually reading it didn’t meet a lot of my expectations. Not in a bad way! There’s a few things to note.

The script doesn’t say that his eyes went red. After noting that Kai “seems to be enjoying it (the power) a little too much,” a darkness is described to slowly fall over him. The script describes his corrupted voice as “possessed-like” and says that Kai almost seems as if he’s displaying split personalities.

Because the script doesn’t say that his eyes went red, normal and corrupted Kai are differentiated by caps lock. When normal Kai is talking, the script is in lowercase and italics. When it’s corrupted Kai, everything is in capitals.

This part of the script is identical to the episode, besides from a small line from normal Kai that I assume got cut out in the final script. In the episode, red-eyed Kai yells at Lloyd saying, “No one is taking my staff! You had all the power, now it’s my turn!” In the script, however, Kai goes back to normal between the two lines and says,

“Just, a little longer –”

This BLEW MY MIND.

He lashed out at Lloyd for saying they had to get the staff away from him, then said he just wanted it, the power, for a little longer, before irrationally yelling at Lloyd again. It wasn’t until Kai started verbally attacking Lloyd personally that he realized that, hey, maybe having this staff isn’t a good idea.

Something about that is so cool and ties a connection to normal and corrupted Kai. If Lloyd hadn’t said that they had to get the staff away from him, then there’s a chance Kai wouldn’t have targeted Lloyd. And if the reason Kai started fighting back the staff was because he was targeting Lloyd, then there’d be no reason for him to want to let go of the staff, and he could’ve, maybe, been fully corrupted.

Am I reading too into this? Yes. I don’t even know if my wording makes sense. Regardless, this script was a very interesting read, and I’m happy to have received it.

I've been really enjoying the later seasons of Ninjago, now that they are available on Citv, but I have no idea what they were thinking in the order of the episodes. I set it to record and so far this morning I have watched random episodes of Secrets of forbidden Spinjitzu, Prime empire, master of the mountain, and Seabound.

I've watched Nya and Jay's dance competition, followed by Cole scaring the village kids and Lloyd discovering Zane's video diary, Nya joining the ocean, Cole's endless fall and almost eaten by spider, a prison escape, Lloyd vs virtual Harumi, Kai being elected chancellor, Jay the gift getting eaten... I am very confused indeed because I've been bouncing between the four seasons in no particular order.

Kinda odd that Cole becomes sync'd up with his element but doesn't lose himself, then next season Nya becomes one with hers and literally becomes water.

Glory Pro is an indy promotion that mainly runs in the St. Louis/East St. Louis area. I mainly hear about them because of Davey Richards and WARHORSE, but they're also turning out a lot of up-and-coming Black wrestlers like Tootie Lynn and Mike Outlaw. I believe this is their first Mania weekend show so I hope they do well.

Do you enjoy heel referees, fucky finishes, scary dives, endless run-ins, false advertising, and unprofessional conduct? Well, even if you don't, AAA has a certain car-crash appeal.

This is the centerpiece of GCW's sprawling empire of Mania weekend shows. I've never watched a JJSB but I've always spent Mania weekend hearing all about it. I expect at least one deathmatch on this show, but for the most part this looks like it'll be more about big names than blood 'n' guts.

WrestleCon: Mark Hitchcock Memorial Supershow

WrestleCon has been a fan convention over Mania weekend since 2013, and the Supershow since 2014. The show was renamed in 2018 to honor Mark Hitchcock, a member of the con's team. This show is running head-to-head with JJSB, which should get more buzz, but this one's arguably got the biggest star power of the night. Incredibly, the Briscoes are booked for both events, which are three miles apart, so I guess somebody's going to give them a ride.

Control Your Narrative: The Awakening

9pm EDT (8pm CDT) - Free (with ads) on Pro Wrestling TV

After EC3 was released from WWE he turned "Control your narrative" into a catchphrase, a mantra, and now a wrestling promotion. This isn't CYN's first show, but it's gotten a lot of negative buzz, due to its weird rules and the booking of problematic wrestlers like Austin Aries. (There was also a crazy Reddit post claiming the whole thing is a right-wing operation backed by Donald Trump, which is absurd, but the upshot is that a lot of people are rooting for EC3 to fail.)

I've read this will be exclusive to a new streaming venture called Pro Wrestling TV, which tweeted that the show will be free. But PWTV's site is very short on details, which isn't very promising. We'll see what happens.

GCW loves doing these midnight shows. This looks to be the real deathmatch show, for anybody who thinks there isn't enough broken glass on the rest of the lineup. I'm not familiar with anybody announced for the card, so I take that to mean they're deathmatch specialists that make Nick Gage look tame.
