i have asserted that i am the felix/livia failmarriage anon.

but here's a thought i'd love to hear your thoughts on - what if they had a healthy marriage, happy household where their children grew up without ever seeing their parents yell at each other?

felix/livia failmarriage <3 but what if it wasn't a fail? (aka the nicer version of this)

honestly, I think it would work (considering that I do imagine if Coriolanus married Livia that she did somehow get charmed by him. I imagine that she could find herself getting over the childhood dislike? that I gave her and Felix), but it would be a slow burn.

For the slow burn to work, it would rely on Livia not falling for Coriolanus in the intervening time, Felix not dying, and no drama to start up that would get both of them to sour on each other.

Assuming the conditions are met, they aren't forced into a marriage, and they're feelings grow organically, Ravindew child probably grows up relatively fine. They're probably a bit spoiled, and I do think that there will always be some growing pains when they reach a certain age. Livia will have some expectation that the child doesn't meet, and Felix will not and it will seem like he's more distant. But it'll be so much less than in the failmarriage universe, and we all struggle with our parents on occasion (or at least, I imagine most people do).

It's not insurmountable, and I imagine Ravindew child and their parents love each other a lot but get into the occasional argument.

Being married to a Cardew does put him higher on the list of targets (for Snow but other politicians looking to seize power from the Ravinstills are included). Honestly, I can see Livia pushing and supporting him to try more in politics and maybe even try and replace his cousin (in my worldbuilding) as Ravinstill heir apparent.

Then, of course, because I always kill Felix. Felix dies. (If he doesn't die, then he's even more miserable somehow and/or following my other trend, he raises a future dictator of Panem...)

Livia's beside herself with grief (if she survives whatever assassination took her husband. It's 50/50 , but she'd potentially have her uses (to Snow? another politician?) so I imagine she doesn't die)

Ravindew child's down one parent (although they might have siblings in this universe but to keep it simple, I'll refer to only one child). Livia probably has a grief spiral but imagine she crawls out of it

Livia Cardew on the warpath for a lost love is probably a very terrifying thing. She's out for blood. I imagine her relationship with Ravindew child gets very strained at points, because Livia is very much focused on the past and revenge.

Ravindew child might start getting raised to avenge their father or get really coddled by a very overprotective Livia. Honestly, probably both in my mind.

They're a loving family but through this, I think this also seeds resentment. The coddling seems counterproductive to the first point which frustrates them both and neither communicate about it well (probably). In the end, it's memories of the better days holding them over from having frustrations erode away at the love mother and child still have for each other.

Bonus: I think it would be funny (and by funny, I mean cool and tragic) if Livia did get together with Coriolanus in this AU not knowing he killed Felix, and their child finds out and kills Coriolanus fulfilling their goal of avenge their father that their mother impressed upon them since the death of said-father only for this to actually make their relationship with their mother worse. Livia can't help the resentment of "I was finally happy again, only for it to all fall apart again." Yes, her anger should be directed at Coriolanus in this situation (for killing Felix and lying to her), but he's not here anymore... you know who is? Ravindew child. And through it all that's still her kid, she still loves them. But it's hard. and it's gotten so much harder.

i think at some point Felix's just going "yes, dear" with like a dead look in his eye.

Max's relationship with Gaul probably looks a lot like this from the outside and so he actually thinks that this is a functional marriage of convenience. ravinstills and getting dominated by women... it runs in the family... you can't escape it.

imagine an au where felix and livia are forced to marry and have a mini them flying around they may not love each other but they sure do love their kid and they were forced to look like a happy couple for the media but for livia its better to be with felix than to be with coriolanus

this is very funny to think about but i can’t help but think felix has a much…weaker personality than coriolanus so livia would absolutely RUN that household.

i feel like even max would be scared of livia.

anytime the kid is bad it’s- “he’s just like you.”

I’m going to need Suzanne Collins to give us more connections in sunrise on the reaping with the mentors of the 10th hunger games especially Clemensia Dovecote and what becomes of her. I need to know what happens to them do they get killed off ? Are they part of the resistance? Are they still a wealthy capitol house name? do they work for Coriolanus? I would also hope we learn a bit more about Tigris. And before anyone comes for me, I know this isn’t technically a tbosas sequel, but even if it’s subtle I hope she answers some of them, I’m hoping for at least a name drop of Clemensia Dovecote and or her descendants.

i saw an anon share their idea to @persephoneprice about lucy gray's birthday and lucy gray invited two of her friend groups and it's just chaos.

and, i can't help but think about the snowbaird wedding au. an au where all the tributes are friends and happy and alive.

of course, coryo would invite the mentors, and lucy gray the tributes.

i think lucy gray's bridesmaids would've been lamina, barb azure, clemensia, vipsania, livia, pippa, and maybe arachne, coral, and brandy.

coryo's groomsmen are probably obvious: festus, felix, hilarius, sejanus, pup, and maybe jessup (for lucy gray's sake)

wovey and maude ivory would've been the flower girls and mizzen and bobbin as ring bearers.

the other tributes and mentors are the guests invited.

mizzen and pippa meet, and pippa just thinks he's such a sweet little boy who asks so many interesting questions. mizzen follows her around all night, which pippa doesn't mind at all. but festus does.

i saw a picture of sofia sanchez (wovey) and ashley liao (clemensia) holding hands and i just can't help but picture wovey and clemmie bonding. felix doesn't mind, thankfully.

hilarius and vipsania also bond with wovey and treech.

the drama starts when brandy and arachne get into an argument for some reason, which resulted in brandy possibly breaking arachne's nose.

and then, coral says, "ugh, rich kids are so fucking annoying," under her breath, and livia hears it. that's another argument.

it gets worse when coral insults livia's friend group.

wine bottle throwing is involved.

coriolanus and lucy gray are speechless and wishes they would've eloped instead.

I want one of the mentors to realize their family doesn’t make them happy because of the 10th Hunger Games. Their tribute, a complete and total stranger who has every right to hate them for being complicit in what the Capitol is putting them through, makes them feel better than their own flesh and blood.

So they decide they’re not gonna lose that and overthrow society in the name of perserving the one unquestionably good thing that’s happened in their life. Maybe they take down their family in the process, maybe they overtake their family instead. Either way they get to break open the cage door in the zoo and free the tributes who are Very Confused as to what is happening but not complaining in the slightest. Their tribute now has a rich friend to solve all their problems ❤️

Felix and Livia's daughter, Maris, is exactly like her parents. She's as witty as Felix and as beautiful as Livia. She is considered the it girl of her generation.

She is Xanthos' younger twin and the two are close to one another.

Maris, doesn't have much friends. By that, I mean true friends. Most people are only 'friends' with Maris because of her status and popularity.

To most people, she might seem mean, calculated, and cold. But, she's actually also very fragile. She often keeps all her emotions bottled up.

Felix and Livia's son, Xanthos, is exactly like his parents. As charming as Felix, and as protective as Livia. He is considered the heartthrob of his generation.

He and his sister aren't exactly similar. For instance, Maris is considered calculated, whereas Xanthos is considered reckless to their peers.

Unlike Maris, he's not technically worried whether they're only friends with him because of his status or whatnot, as long as he has friends.

His personality is described as protective, fierce, and cocky.

I headcanon that Felix Ravinstill and Livia Cardew died at some point when Maris and Xanthos were young because of Coriolanus' rise to power. Seven or eight, perhaps?

Their death caused Maris and Xanthos to turn out the way they are.

Oh, thank you! It means a lot to hear that you liked that fic!

A lot of my thoughts/headcanons for things end up in the fic, but I will try to scrounge up some that maybe didn't make it in or make it in directly:

(warning for dark themes typical to the fic. Also warning for this being kind of a disorganized jumble of bullet points, haha!)

For both Livia and Felix, this marriage is basically their respective families proving to them that they don't value them enough as people to consider their feeling on this at a true level.

While I do hc that Livia and Felix kind of hated each other as kids, I do think they could get over that as adults. But this universe is not that world. Their families thought that their marriage was perfect on paper, and Livia and Felix see getting along as letting the people who forced this marriage upon them win. Their relationship is already fraught because of the forced marriage, but they refuse to even try and get along to spite their families.

Felix is probably very uncomfortable that they had a kid, because it's his bloodline that's important in this equation and he already (in my hcs) has insecurities about being used only for the Ravinstill name. This marriage and by the extension, the kid is the realization of his worst insecurities. Also the prized horse out to stud vibes this marriage puts on him makes uncomfortable.

Livia, in my head, always thought she wanted kids and so she doesn't think about it as deeply and compensates for how uncomfortable with the father having to be Felix with being more possessive of the kid's affections. In her mind, that's her kid. She's shoving Felix out of the picture as much as possible in her mind.

Unfortunately, she also can't quite fully forget that the kid's also Felix's, so she's also pretty absent from their life unless necessary or unless the child can be used against her husband in some way.

I do think that to some degree both Livia and Felix have some degree of affection for the kid, but whatever sort of love they have for them is spoiled by their inability to center their conception of them as a person (which is ironically the Ravinstills and Cardews problem when locking the two into this marriage).

To Livia, the kid is something to use against Felix in a way or an extension of herself. To Felix, the kid is something that Livia can use against him.

Livia and Felix are a perfect example of "the cycles sure are cycling with their kid," because Livia is at the beginning on the path of spoiling their kid as long as they do whatever she says (and then she pulls the rug out from underneath them with a arranged marriage just like her parents). Felix is aloof and distant like how I imagine President Ravinstill.

A part of that kid's tragedy is that these parents can see themselves in that kid, but they don't do anything to help that kid escape their fate..

you know what i’d love to talk about? petty drama between the academy students and silly headcanons. therefore i am presenting my list of academy drama between the students and silly headcanons (not to be taken too seriously):

→ festus creed is definitely the local plug. once business really starts taking off, he brings in pup harrington as his assistant. pup gets fired because he smokes too much to actually do the things festus tells him too.

→ when they were 14, livia cardew invited everyone to her birthday party except vipsania sickle because vipsania took gym too seriously and made livia cry during basketball. they didn’t speak for 3 months.

→ persephone price and felix ravinstill lowkey have a rivalry because they both want to be festus’s best friend. one day when they’re about 12, persephone takes the seat next to festus in panem history class and felix began calling her ‘pimple price’ due to his irritation and her unfortunately having a large zit.

→ urban canville is the student that argues with the teacher because he always thinks he knows better. everyone groans when he opens his mouth because they know there’s no stopping it. until finally lysistrata of all people had enough and called him out and he sulked for a month and refused to speak in class at all.

→ hilarious heavensbee does drag at pluribus bell’s club.

→ someone (apollo ring) started a rumor that the ravinstill family has been in power so long because they do ritual cult sacrifice. felix finally got sick of it and stood up in front of everyone to explain that he had never sacrificed any animals for power nor had any member of his family per his knowledge.

→ arachne crane was in a toxic situationship with juno phipps for a good 6 months. no one mentions it out of fear of having to relive the drama.

→ dennis fling tried out for the track team every year and never made it. it became a running joke amongst the students to say you’re going to pull a dennis fling if you know you’re going to fail something.
