Fics that nobody wants to write, but I would love to read

More adventures for Rukia and Ichigo. No, not shipping fics. Those I can find plenty, and I am very grateful to the very talented authors that write them, your creations brought me many hours of joy for which I am very thankful. They could include shipping or they can be just friends, but I would like to see them have more adventures like those in the manga and anime.

More Rukia and Ichigo friendship please. Where the friendship is the core of the story. I find myself in the same situation with the Hermione Granger & Harry Potter friendship. Their friendship usually appears as an afterthought  in fics about the canon ships and their conversations are short talks about their marriages.

PEOPLE ACCUSE ME OF NOT LIKING MALE-FEMALE FRIENDSHIPS. I ACTUALLY ADORE THEM, BUT THEY RARELY HAVE ANY SPACE GIVEN TO THEM IN CANON, AND FICS DEDICATED TO SAID FRIEDSHIPS ARE SHORT AND RARE.

And even when the tag male-female friendship appears, it usually signifies a small portion of a fic that actually deals with something else.

I think that a friendship between Renji and Orihime would be a splendid idea. I would love to see their adventures, fighting all manners of monsters in Hell, Rukongai and Hueco Mundo. They can be an epic comedic duo. They can comment on their canon marriages. They can develop their own inside jokes.

Speaking of which Rukia and Orihime in battle, as a team. It has a great potential for epicness. We were told that they are friends and that they train together, I would love to see that in action.

Rukia having a rematch with Grimmjaw. And winning. Unaided.

I would love to see Rukia and Aizen interacting. Unfortunately fics with them in any kind of relationship, be it enemies, allies, lovers are so few that it hurts.

If there are other shippers of Rukia/Uryu there, they rarely write anything. I agree that is not a popular pairing and it is difficult to write for, but I see a lot of potential for it, especially if we consider the last arc.

How did Shinji saw through Aizen when nobody else could?

Any interesting and elaborate ‘‘for want of a nail’‘ universe. The few there are, usually change much of the world from the very start, and are focused on shipping.

One of my favorite "identity / secret" reveal situations I've ever read in a book series was when the "orphan" protagonist had been kidnapped and the kidnappers were trying to ransom him to this guy he'd only heard of in passing before. And it was a relatively serious scene, but in humorous summary, it went a little like this:

Kidnappers: "We have your son."

Some Guy: "I don't have a son."

Kidnappers: "..."

Protagonist: "..."

Some Guy: "Wait, let me call my ex."

I kind of like the idea that at the highest levels of the U.S. government, FBI, whatever, they are fully aware of who each member of the Batfam is and have dossiers that could fill libraries detailing their crimes and whatnot. Furthermore, they have filled Bruce Wayne in on this fact and told him that while he does net-positive things as a Gotham-exclusive vigilante and member of the Justice League (the government is more than happy to let a billionaire pay for that), they have no reason to come after him. In fact, the Feds are exhausted with Gotham and dealing with all the problems it brings.

However, they're very clear that if they wanted to, they could put him and his kids away, or force them into working for the government.

Bruce is entirely unsurprised by this, and it's just another chess move in the long-brewing cold war where the Bats routinely destroy/delegitimize evidence/hack them/gather counter-intelligence and blackmail and the Feds continue their reconnaissance, rebuild their case, and put up heavy opposition to any Batfamily members or allies entering government office.

sometimes i wonder about the people ted left behind in the us. i mean, the way he is, the little we do see of his coaching from then, i have no doubt he had a great impact on his players and staff there, too; that they loved him, too. but like, we never see ted still connected to any of them. i understand why like, on a doylist level--narratively it would just clutter things to have this whole other cast, and beard is already there showing his previous important connections, but like. i dunno. i just wonder.

But Pete is lucky. He's privileged. As a head bodyguard, as Kinn's most trusted soldier, as Porsche's friend. He got to choose when and how he would die.

Standing there, looking into Kinn's eyes and insisting on being sent to the minor family compound, he thought to himself that at least it matches. Dying a gruesome death, dying how he lived his whole life: in violence. At the very least it could save his friend. And maybe, just maybe, it will finally sate the restless, violent thing inside of him. It may finally reach the bottom of the endless, dark pit of want in his stomach.

He anticipated a lot of things; the torture, the pain, the death that awaits him. What he didn't anticipate was the hot and cold shivers that ran through him when Vegas directed his cruel grin at him for the first time.

AO3 still seems to be having issues, so here's the beginning of some a steddie fic set between seasons two and three that I don't think I'm going to do anything with:

The Morning After

Eddie woke up slowly. First his body, pulling him out of bed. His brain made a half-hearted attempt to get going, prodding him to reach for a cigarette and the half finished beer he’d left by his bed. He’d just gotten the cigarette lit when the memory of jerking off Steve Harrington hit his brain like a bucket of cold water.

He’d had sex with Steve Harrington.

They’d left the party at the same time. Pure coincidence; Eddie running out of party favors to sell right around when Harrington had decided he was done for the night.

Eddie had started it with a playfully flirtatious comment on his hair. Instead of an insult, Harrington had responded in the same vein. Surprising, but not shocking; Harrington had a tendency to mirror the behavior of the people around him. And while he wasn’t naturally nice, he was naturally charming, even when he was drunk.

Eddie should have left it alone, but he hadn’t exactly been sober himself and the escalating game of gay chicken had seemed harmless amusement until they were kissing.

His traitorous memory claimed Harrington was the one who shifted the interaction from verbal to physical, but that didn’t seem right. Harrington hadn’t been that drunk.

Probably at that moment - or maybe a couple of hours ago; Eddie wasn’t an early riser - on the rich side of town, Harrington was remembering that he’d touched the freak’s dick. That he’d let the freak touch his dick. He would not be happy about it, and he’d have the whole weekend to devise some sort of revenge.

Eddie had had sex with Steve Harrington and he was going to pay for it.

Steve woke up to a pounding headache, almost unbearable nausea, and the distinct feeling he had forgotten something important. The newspaper on the porch said it was Saturday. He remembered taking a test on Friday. Geometry, so he’d probably even passed it. That meant all he’d forgotten was Heather’s party.

Steve felt a knot in his stomach loosen. It wasn’t some unknown horror from beyond fucking with his head. He’d just gotten trashed at a party. Hopefully he wouldn’t have too much to apologize for.
