Yes they are! Generally, the more time it spends on land, the closer it will be to 5 calories than 4. The estimate was actually based on frogs and tadpoles, I had to make an educated guess.
My best source was a feeding chart from a reptile food website which sells whole small prey for consumption by snakes. It perfectly lists out the values of dozens of small animals, but no fish. So I took a note of the 4 calorie estimate, observed that an adult frog increases in calories compared to tadpoles (bucking the trend with the others on the list where younger animals are worth more caloric value) and went on to do more research
I couldn't find a source that broke down WHOLE prey caloric value like the chart, so I ended up comparing caloric value between rabbit fillets, chicken fillets, and fish fillets on human-centric nutrition websites. My hypothesis was mostly consistent, even with more species added. Fish (perch, flounder, pike) < Wild Mammal (rabbit, squirrel) < Poultry (chicken, turkey, quail). There was overlap between "classes", certain fish getting over the 100 hump, but generally there was a trend I boiled down into 4/5/6
This is consistent with how a lot of fish meat is actually water. In fact, cats quench a lot of their thirst from the food they eat. I also learned some very interesting stuff about the fat distribution in fish which is going to blow a bit of a hole in some of my Clan culture stuff lmaoooo, but I'll furiously swim across that obliterated bridge when I get there
But funfact! Fish oil is rendered fish fats and it is the form that unsaturated fat takes, whereas lard is what saturated fats become. I need to do more research into this topic to understand what kind of difference it would make in a wild cat's diet.
There was one big bucked trend though: salmonid meat was WAAAAY higher in fat and calories. Like, absurdly high. Like 150 cal trout fillet vs 110 cal of rabbit fillet vs 88 cal of perch fillet.
I do not know why that is. My guess is that maybe it's because they were taking the number from farmed salmonids? Maybe it's because they're particularly fatty fish? Perhaps this is just the raw power of salmon slammin'.
Anyway, at one point I was trying to estimate exact caloric value per popular prey species, but decided I didn't have the "backing" to get so exact with the numbers since I was doing estimates with the fish. I'll do the work if it comes down to it, but for now, 4/5/6 is a quick, easy guideline you can use for just about any WC project.

Chemistry behind cod liver oil

"Fish oil" and "cod liver oil" are common nutritional health products and many people confuse these two, or even consider them as the same products. In fact, the effects of fish oil and cod liver oil are totally different. The main components of fish oil are DHA and EPA, which we introduced a few days ago. DHA is important for the development and maintenance of brain and nervous tissue; EPA can be used to treat autoimmune disorders and prevent cholesterol and fat from building up in artery walls.
Cod liver oil is a dietary supplement derived from the liver of cod fish (Gadidae). The main ingredients are retinol and cholecalciferol. Retinol is an important component of photosensitive substances in visual cells and can also maintain the integrity and health of epithelial tissue structure. Cholecalciferol promotes calcium absorption, as well as phosphorus reabsorption by renal tubules.

snack- fruit bowl (117 calories)
lunch- lemon garlic chicken breast, 50/50 spinach/spring mix with low-cal balsamic, sweet potato (387 calories)
snack- nut thins with a light creamy laughing cow wedge (72 calories)
dinner- sriracha/tamari chicken breast, lemon garlic broccoli (231 calories)
late night snack- 1 tbsp peanut butter on keto bread, quarter of a grapefruit, 4 olives, light creamy laughing cow wedge, nut thins (305 calories)
total: 1472 calories
this is what I ate for maintenance/slow muscle building as a 5 foot 3.5 woman who is trying to stay 115 lbs. Did not bike or lift today. 60 oz water daily.

it's kind of funny to me, albeit very interesting, that I'm a very picky eater and yet have also become a locavore and something of a 'foodie' per se, I really enjoy food (and cooking!), and going to unique and sometimes upscale restaurants serving ~local ingredients~ and I really value a quality dining experience and learning the character of new places through their food. yet I got a 29 on that picky eater test lol
#is this a contradiction? like im just wondering if there's other picky eaters out there who also are really into food#picky eaters get stereotyped into 'so you only eat chicken nuggets and french fries'#but I almost never go out to eat unless i'm traveling#I cook all my meals and I love discovering new combinations of foods and flavors I like and I eat quite healthy#(I don't really like fried foods or fast food so like. what foods one is picky about varies way more than is commonly realized)#like an average dinner for me is wild-caught salmon with garlic-sauteed swiss chard and wild rice#but the number of foods i do not like is. through the roof according to mainstream society or smth.#and it's true i dislike a Lot of vegetables and fruits. but the things i do like I try to eat a lot of#there's a pretty small sliver of flavors and ingredients i enjoy from the total global pool of foods. but within it i try to be creative#and i love food and cooking more than anything#food is one of the greatest joys of life for me#idk. i just have not heard about others having this sort of dichotomy and i'd like to know if this is a thing#maybe bc i'm an ecologist? like all my coworkers are either vegans or hunters or locavores#i'll eat p much any game or fish#my desire to eat local is an ideological one as much as a flavor and nutritional one#and because of my ulcerative colitis i have additional restrictions (not enforced. but Recommended) on my diet#such as reducing processed sugar for unrefined sugars and using gluten alternatives when i bake etc#it's just an interesting mix of things imo and it seems inexplicable to people i try to explain it to irl

Khare is an obligate carnivore. Due to the nature of her mutated physiology, organic matter is essential to maintaining her health and genetic stability, preventing her from mutating further. If she cannot ingest biological material on a regular basis, her body will start turning on itself, the mutation taking what it needs from it's own host instead of that of other lifeforms.
