𝒞ontent . fluff ノ strangers to lover ノ meet cute ノ down bad sim jaeyun ノ love at first sight ノ attempt at crack ノ layla is the greatest wingdog ever . minimal proofread ノ 1.2k words .
ℒove notes . erm.. smth about jake this week has me whipping out my phone and typing all this this is literally so self indulgent & just cute layla (my bb)
wherein a cute dog suddenly comes out of nowhere, and you just can’t really help yourself and get to know her handsome dad.
Tumblr media
having a dog has a lot of benefits.
for one, they reduce stress according to a research by just simply petting them it lowers the cortisol hormones, or whatever that was.
two, they stave off loneliness—if someone were to ask jake how he is after having layla, he definitely would say how amazing he’s been and how happy he is. after all, layla is just the cutest. unlike some dog his friend has, but that’s beside the point—sim jaeyun doesn’t need anything else.
and for the last one, is that they provide companionship! layla is a smart dog, just like jake. like father like daughter, some would say.
who knew that a simple detour from the dog park and layla’s incessant want to go to the nearest neighborhood has jake left with no choice but to comply. who could say no to that cute face? layla has been a good girl, right? so why not take another thirty minutes walk? sure it might be a little weird that she specifically wanted to go there, but it is probably nothing right?
but when sim jaeyun said they provide companionship, layla had a different idea about it.
jake never knew there was this side of the city, the wind blew just a little colder, the aroma of the flowers that were displayed outside hangs in the air and not far from where they came from, a small quaint bakery shop comes into view. layla who is visibly ecstatic as if she had walk down this road numerous times, which jake has suspected that maybe when the dog walker—his mom—has been taking his baby all this time.
Tumblr media
not much is there to work in your little humble shop, as expected on a wednesday noon.
the bell chimes with its usual rhythm, there’s not much customer at this time of the day. usually, you would be greeted by a beautiful classy woman who seems to be middle age, but has a young heart with her cute little dog, whom she called layla.
but you supposed mrs. sim is pre-occupied as of the moment, because why the fuck is there a cute guy at your shop with the same dog who you give free treats every wednesday at noon, instead of mrs. sim who smiles warmly and orders her favorite blueberry cheesecake with hot tea on the side?
oh my gosh. there’s a cute guy at your store and he is obviously new — you would’ve definitely remembered that face anywhere — and you have to act normal now. you straighten up as you ready your usual greetings to any customers.
a soft ambiance wafts through the air as jaeyun walks in. as layla basically drags him in faster and further into the shop, not really noticing upfront because he was too busy looking for signs and posters if pets were even allowed in here. not really wanting to cause any trouble or pay any fine — though let’s be real, he is more concerned if layla were to have a record than to pay a measly fine that wouldn’t put a single dent in his bank account. though the amount of few pets that are scattered across those tables tells him that it’s fine.
before he knew it he was right in front of the counter, with disheveled hair and a little breath and layla wagging her tail swiftly with shiny eyes as if expecting something.
“hi layla!” a soft voice suddenly spoke and as if on cue layla barks and tilts her head — so layla knows you?
his eyes now meet yours.
as if the world is getting a little faster, is this what they say in the movies? though, he thinks it was a little different. your eyes are pretty — you are pretty. it’s absolutely breathtaking — you are breathtaking. does the light give you a different kind of glow? you were absolutely beautiful with your apron a little tattered on the side — he can definitely buy you a new one if you let him — your little hairs astray to your face is perfect, can you get anymore amazing?
is he going insane? was this normal? is any of it normal? is he even normal at all?
because why is jaeyun seeing you in the kitchen with the same apron you wear right now, a small smile on your face, a spatula in your hand, the aroma that permeates through the entire walls of the house, your house. and he doesn’t know what you are cooking, but right there and then sim jaeyun knew. why was he fantasizing your future? together?!
he’s definitely gone insane.
Tumblr media
why is he looking at you like a deer in the headlights? is your hair okay? is there any dirt in your face? are you really going to embarrass yourself first before you even have a chance to get to know this cute guy?
gathering yourself, mustering up to talk to this man — who you think is probably the prettiest you’ve ever seen? hello? — you really need to get yourself together.
“hi? i’m yn, can i get you anything?” you cringe slightly from your voice.
a minute passes and the atmosphere grew to be more awkward than you had initially anticipated.
you try again, no matter how embarrassing it is and how much you want the ground to swallow you up. “uhm—”
“can i get your cake?” what.
someone please strike down jaeyun right this instant. why the fuck did he say that to you? great. now you think he’s a creep.
now how did he even mess up between asking you for your number that was supposed to be later and also asking for that carrot cake that looks so tasty in your menu?
“pardon?”
jake panics at that, “no, omg i’m so sorry! that’s not what i meant- wait no! i meant it, but i mean it differently, but i also mean it.”
wonderful. now he’s rambling and fumbling in front of you, what more can be worse than this?
and then he hears you chuckle. oh god now you’re laughing — how can someone laugh as gracefully as you? — but no, wait are you laughing at him? you sound so heavenly though. wait no, focus sim jaeyun!
jake lets out a sigh, a shy smile hanging on his lips, a hand coming up to his neck. “—i’m sorry, i don’t know what i’m doing.”
“no, you’re fine! i should be the one who’s sorry for laughing, that was totally unprofessional of me.” you frantically waved your hands in front of you.
jake finds your mannerisms adorable, “you’re okay,” he reassures you, feeling a little sorry. “let’s start over, shall we?”
“yeah,” you breathe out. “i would like that very much.”
the smiles forming in your faces are contagious.
“hi, i’m yn. would you like anything?” you start again.
surprisingly enough, jake didn’t mess up this time. thank goodness you were willing to start over — he might as well die from the utter humiliation he just felt a while ago — but he’s glad he didn’t.
“hello, pretty. i’m jaeyun, can i get that carrot cake?”
and if he’s lucky, your number will find its way to his contacts, just like how he found your quaint shop.
he’s glad he let layla drag him all the way to you.

TATTOOS & ETC. — abby anderson
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
summary — y/n visits las vegas for vacation before college starts, she gets her first big tattoo piece there only to meet the owner of the shop.
description — tattoo artist!abby, poc fem!reader, obviously older abby, modern au, cant write smut so dont expect it, and ofc its gonna be a long story.
— 🗝️ ◦ ✺ 💿 ⟢ —
“So I booked a tattoo appointment for tomorrow, the artist had someone cancel and she filled me in.” You smiled talking to your friend who came along with you on your vacation before university.
“Wait it’s that wrap around tattoo you wanted on your thigh right?” She asked as she took a sip of her alcoholic drink.
“Yes, dude you know how long I’ve been wanting that for!” The piece was gonna break your bank account but your girl math said it was basically free since it would be on for the rest of your life.
The morning of the appointment you decided to wear baggy sweats and a black wife pleaser, couldn’t risk anything rubbing against your new collection to your body.
You walked inside hearing the little bell chime as the door opened, you walked up to the small desk to meet a young girl with tattoos scattered along her arms and neck.
“Hey, appointment or walk in?” She smiled cheerfully looking up from her computer and at you.
“Appointment with Jasmine, I’m y/n” You leaned forward on the desk returning a small smile, she had you follow her to the back and had you sit on the chair telling you that Jasmine will meet you in a minute.
“Hey Y/n! How you feeling?” A short masculine woman sat in her rolling chair sliding over to you with toothiest smile, a small gem glued on her canine that blinged with the light.
“Feeling a little nervous but i’ve been wanting this tattoo for a year now, kinda stalked your page and I love the way you draw floral pieces.” You complimented her work, she was truly talented.
She had asked you to remove your sweats, now in your boy shorts and laying on your side after she applied the stencil. The buzzing of the gun started making you nervous but you being you kept your cool, the needle now digging into your plush thighs had you clenching your jaw.
You went on your phone trying to distract yourself from the painful spots she was doing, you heard the bell from the front door jingle followed by a couple of greetings before a tall, muscular woman who was covered in art walk into the back where you were.
“Hey Jazz.” She greeted your artist, her voice made you want to squeeze your legs together.
“Hey Abby, what’re you doing here? isn’t it your day off?” Jasmine paused for a moment to talk to Abby before focusing back on you. She asked you to lay on your back and spread your legs so she could finish the inner thigh part.
“This part will hurt so just tell me if you need anything ok?” The artist reassured you, nodding your head she came back down with the needle.
“Fuck, oh my god.” You bit down on your fist, squeezing your eyes shut, your chest heaving.
“I’m the owner dumbass, I have paperwork shit to do.” She chuckled, her blue eyes now on you and your tattoo.
“That’s a gorgeous piece.” Abby complimented, her giant arms crossing her chest as she now focused on your thigh.
“Yeah and it hurts like a motherfucker.” You giggled looking up at her.
Abby swore her heart started beating out her chest when she saw you look at her, she was definitely calling you the gorgeous piece she just couldn’t keep her eyes off you.
“Here hold my arm, I know how badly that part hurts.” You took her arm, digging your short nails into her forearm god for some reason she was turned on by you being in pain.
When the inner thigh part was finished you released your hand from Abby, quickly apologizing for hurting her.
“You’re fine sweetheart, didn’t even feel it.” A chuckle escaped her lips, winking at you before walking off to where you could assume was her office.
“Annnd you’re all done girl!” Your artist wrapped your thigh, looking in the body mirror you couldn’t stop cheesing.
“You are literally so fucking talented what?” Your comment made her blush.
“Gonna leave without letting me see?” Abby’s voice came from behind, you looked up at the mirror to see the blonde walk up behind you.
“She can have my whole bank account” You turned around to show her the beautiful piece wrapped around your thigh.
“Here, lemme walk you to the front.” Abby smiled as you had slid back into your sweats and walked over to the desk.
Abby leaned forward while on the computer, you would honestly thank her if she punched you in the face right now.
“Want a picture sweetheart?” She joked, a cocky grin plastering her face as she looked at you.
“I think I want your number more.” You impressed her with your boldness, majority of people being so deathly afraid of her.
“Yes ma’am.” She licked her lips, taking your phone and adding her contact.
“I’ll text you the details for our date on Friday.” Abby laughed but she wasn’t joking, this was her asking you out and you happily accepted.

Stephanie's reluctant rival:
Spoiler patrols around Gotham, alone when she hears a familiar irritating voice.
Kite-Man: Hey! Hey Spoiler! It's me, Kite-man!
Spoiler glances to see Kite-Man on top of a building, having spotted her. She walks off quickly.
Spoiler: Nope, nope, I saw nothing. Nobody.
Kite-Man uses his kite suit to fly down and follows Spoiler.
Spoiler: I'm not Spoiler, I'm a cosplayer!
Spoiler runs.
Kite-Man: Come back, I wanted you to meet my fiance.
Spoiler stops running and turns around.
Spoiler (shocked): She said yes?!
Kite-Man: I know right? I'm even surprised. Glider, you can come down.
Golden Glider glides to the ground with her ice skates.
Glider: Hi.
Spoiler (amazed at the woman's beauty): That's her?!
Glider: Oh my gosh, I'm basically aren't I? A lot of people are surprised when they see us. He can do better than me, but he gave me a shot.
Spoiler: Oh my God, she's the humble one. Focus, you swore you wouldn't rob any more banks when you got engaged!
Kite-Man: It was only the last two, I was trying to cash a check I got from a friend, but no bank would cash it and you know how tough it can be with people judging you.
Spoiler: I can't... I have literally never been through your situation!
Barbara (on the communication device): Well.
Spoiler: Oracle, I swear to Christ, stay out of this!
GG: She's using her bluetooth?
Kite-Man: Yeah... babe you remembered? This is why I love you.
Spoiler: Oh God Almighty you're cute together.
Spoiler hits her fist on her forehead.
Spoiler: You're trying to convince me that you only robbed two banks out of five?!
Kite-Man, innocently: Yes.
Glider: He's telling the truth, honestly at the third one we were just trying to add funds to our shared bank account. We have one now. The Lord has blessed us with many great things.
Spoiler: Oh Christ you're Uber religious too.
Glider: Yes, Lord is my first man, but Kite-Man is my second. I hope to one day grace the world with our children.
Spoiler: That seems like a mistake. Um, continue on.
Glider: Well we even tried going in civilian clothes, but my stud likes to wear his kite-man outfit.
Kite-Man: And I couldn't deprive my future wife of not rocking her golden attire.
Spoiler: Oh jeez... look I want to arrest you. I should arrest you, honestly Batman will be pissed if I don't, but and I don't mean to fully insult you, you're not dangerous enough at this time. I'm sorry, why am I apologizing?!
Glider: He's warming up to you, he says he loves being your rival.
Spoiler: Maybe I should've stayed with my dad. Not that insane... there's also the factor that the banks you went to have been robbed... every other week. Like Bane has robbed the second one. So, um, while it pains me to do this... just go off on your honeymoon. I'm giving you a... pardon. This time.
Kite-Man: Rival, good looking out.
Kite-man hits his chest, to show his appreciation.
Spoiler: I regret my life at this point. Please leave.
Kite man and Glider: Kite man and Gliider out! Peace!
Spoiler facepalms, wondering how she got dealt the weirdest villain as a rival, then presses her communication device button.
Spoiler: Oracle, how much did he hear? I just want to get an idea of how fricked I am.
Oracle: I let him hear the entire thing. He's not mad, disappointed, but not mad.
Spoiler groans and kicks a trash can in her anger. She immediately picks up the trash reasoning she was already in enough trouble.
Spoiler: Isn't there a villain he lets walk free?
Jason (chiming into the comm conversation): Fucking yes!
Spoiler: Oh, yeah the Joker.
Barbara cackles this time at Batman.
Barbara: Now he says he's mad.
Spoiler: Mad and hypocritical. I don't like the guy, he's not my freaking rival, but he's happy. I'm doing a good deed that I may or may not regret down the road.
Barbara agrees as she claps.
Spoiler: Thank you. I'm going home for the night. I'm too annoyed to do anything else.

Chimes of Midnight stickers! by me :)
Hi friends! I’m just popping in for a quick moment to let you all know that the Chimes of Midnight stickers I made a couple of years ago are finally up for sale online!! If you want one for yourself, check out my Storenvy linked below! I don’t have very many of these, but I’d love to send you one if you want (and my bank account would be thankful, too, because university is stinkin’ expensive 😅).
Please feel free to share the link around! I’d love to sell all of these before I head back off to school in a couple of months. And feel free to tag me in pictures of your stickers and where you’ve placed them once you receive yours!! I’m not sure when I’ll be back on tumblr, but whenever I do return, I would love to see where you’re displaying your stickers!
Thanks, friends! Love - gurt ✨
*note: the Edward Grove/clock design turned out MASSIVE. please be aware of the dimensions listed at the end of the description for that one before you buy it. I definitely need to pay more attention to sizing and only order realistic sticker sizes if I do this again lol.

I hope this isn't a weird or too random question (and if it is, feel free to ignore ofc!) but I was wondering if you had any advice for someone thinking of writing full-time? The obvious question is, of course, can one make a living from it even if they're not like Stephen King or GRR Martin or something? Do you have any tips from your experience that you would have found helpful when first starting out? <3
Hi, sweet anon! Not weird at all. I'm happy to chime in with some (long) thoughts.
Firstly, yes! Authors can make a full-time living from writing even if they're not GRRM &c. I know a number of full-timers, and some of them aren't even NYT bestsellers.
As a caveat, I know very little about the indie/self-publishing space, so the following is based on my experience in traditional publishing.
I spent around 2-3 years writing books full-time. I no longer do that, and don't plan to return to it unless I have a big commercial breakout. It was just a never-ending parade of financial stress. It's hard even to give "tips" because so much is out of your control -- but if you're considering trying to write full time, you should definitely know what you're signing up for.
Here's an average situation for a non-bestseller trying to full-time it:
Let's say you've published two books, and your third is on the way (awesome!). For your first two novels, you got advances of $40,000, but maybe they've only sold 15k copies apiece -- not enough to "earn out" your advance and start making new money. So, you're not making a cent off your older books. Probably won't for years.
Let's say your book 3 is supposed to publish in June 2025, and it sold for more than your last books: $75,000. Pretty good! Advances are usually divided into thirds these days: 1/3 on contract signing, 1/3 on delivery of the fully edited manuscript (D&A), and 1/3 on publication. So that makes a $50,000 salary this year, yes?
Kind of. Right off the bat, your agent gets 15%, so that would make a $42,500 salary. A little tighter, but still seems doable. Also, you need to make estimated tax payments to the IRS. So, let's ballpark your taxes at $7,000, state and federal, which you'll pay in installments throughout the year.
Contract negotiations take a few months as usual, and let's say in April, you get the first payment: your first $21,250. Nice.
Unfortunately, your editor's swamped, and 2 months go by before they send you edits. When you get the letter in June, you're like -- shit, this is a more extensive revision than I thought. You start rehauling the novel, but after your month-long deadline passes, it's still not right. You take another six weeks before you're happy. It's now September.
Suddenly money is very tight. You got $21,250 in April, but since then you've paid $5,250 in estimated taxes, and every month you pay $2,250 in rent, health insurance, and food. You were supposed to have your second payment already, because the contract's estimated D&A date said September. But you still need to do line edits. You now have $2,500 in the bank. You are very aware that this will last a little over a month.
Your editor gets back after a few weeks, having loved your revision, and has sent you line edits. Thank God she didn't want a second round of bigger edits. But it's now October. You rush through the line edits, turn them in after a single jam-packed week. You have $250 in the bank. Your D&A payment is now due.
A week goes by. Where is the payment? You email your agent. She badgers the publisher. They say the payment will be sent through in a pay run next week, so after agency processing, it'll be with you in early November.
You have $75 in the bank. You start putting everything on your credit cards. Then your utility company makes a direct withdrawal from your checking account. You wake up to an overdraft notice and zero dollars in your account. Holy shit, you think, why did I choose this career. November hits. You are late on rent. Maybe you should start drawing from your retirement account, which you put $5,000 into, one time, three years ago?
When your payment arrives, you're not happy so much as ready to cry with relief. You start paying off your cards and sending late, embarrassed Venmos to your friends. You can finally stop declining invites to hang out because you have no money.
And by then it's November, and you're realizing that you really need to be thinking about your next book. If you were working smart, you got a jump on it earlier in the year, when your editor was late with your edit letter. Let's say you wrote an entire first draft back then, between January and June. (Which, to be clear, IS fast for a novel, do not believe the ridiculous standards of writing speed you see online.) If you now take six months to mold that first draft into actual art, then send it to your agent next May, and she wants changes, and you submit in July, and it sells after an average couple months on submission, you won't get your next contract payment until January, 2026.
ARE YOU ANXIOUS YET?
The above scenario is ordinary. An editor having a delay on an edit letter for a month or two, or an author getting stuck and running over deadline for a month -- that stuff is barely worth commenting on.
And there are all sorts of other bumps in the road. Let's say the publisher has turnover in the contracts department. Immediately, that'll be a delay on your signing payment. I've waited 6 months for a contract payment before. I've waited months for a simple email reply from an editor because the company was going through layoffs.
Add more people into the process, and it gets slower. Are you working on IP, let's say a novelization of a TV property? That team might take months to get back to you even on your proposed outline. Working with a freelancer or cowriter? Add weeks or months to every step. In publishing, you spend half your life waiting. You know what doesn't wait? Rent, taxes, and health insurance.
Anon, this is the shoestring, desperate kind of full-time author existence. If you're doing a little better -- still midlist, but better -- you might have earned out one or more of your backlist titles. That means you'll get additional royalties twice a year, usually April and October. That will help.
Or maybe you're a super-fast writer who's always, always juggling multiple contracts and shooting drafts in and out of your door. That's a decent way to make a healthy living as a full-time author, but you'll need to complete multiple books a year, for sure.
This is why I have a survival job half the week that pays my rent. The stress is still there, but it's less frequent and less intense. Honestly, given my sales figures, which are (checks notes) bad, I'm lucky to get to keep doing this after five novels. Because the biggest looming threat is that if you don't break out, editors will start shutting the door immediately because of your lack of established audience.
The only really reliable way to pay your bills is to break out. Then if your editor leaves your publishing house, and you get reassigned, and that pads 3 months onto the editing process, or whatever, it doesn't matter. You'll have actual, substantial royalty payments twice a year. Your advances will always be over six figures. You can live a normal life where you're not staring into the murky distance, wondering when some payment is going to soar out of the night and into your terrible bank account.
Or ... you can just get a day job. And you will get paid biweekly, reliably, on SPECIFIC DATES!!!, forever. When I tell you this shit was life-changing for me. Good God.
Obviously the biggest problem in this whole post is the bit where I wrote "every month you pay $2,250 in rent, insurance, and food," and worried if I was, in fact, lowballing that amount. What a broken world!
Anyway. Best of luck with the writing, anon -- no matter what your experiences in or around the industry, I hope the work itself continues to feed your soul.

Chime Bank| My Review
Tumblr media
Are you looking for a bank that allows you to receive payday 2 days early? Then look no further. Chime is an amazing bank that allows you to not only receive your money 2 days early but it also can help build your credit. You can also pay bills, send money to friends or request it just like cash app and so much more. You can also save money by putting it in your savings and you can also track your credit on there.
If someone sends you money, or you send someone money you can boost them and give them an extra spotme. You can send boosts once per month and when it runs out all your friend has to do is send you some money and they can boost you and you can boost them.
This is a great thing because you can use your card and pretty much over draft however much the boost is and then once you get paid it takes it from there. Did I also mention that Chime has no fees so they do not take money like most banks do. I have been using chime for 5 years and I pretty much just switch my cash app to my chime because it was so much simpler and cash app kept locking people out and I did not want to risk it.
A chime bank account is 100% free and easy to use. If you need to add cash to it, you can go to dollar general, CVS, Walgreens and other places that allow you to in which the chime app will show you locations on a map to go to.
I highly recommend chime because it is simple to use. I have the app on my phone and I have never had an issue with them like other banks. They do not charge a fee for my hard earn money and you can use the spot me boost to spend over for emergencies. I love love love this bank so much more than any other bank I have been with. You can also link chime to other banks and move money with no issue that way which is also great. I love that.
Join Chime using my link and receive a $100!

Superdim Sunday: Chapter 2
If pressed, she would agree that it was a little crazy to drop everything to drive two hours in the hopes of ruining Hammer's night. She felt vaguely embarrassed by herself throughout the drive, fingers wrapped a little too tightly around the steering wheel.
At least no one knew what she was doing. Her masked activities were clandestine. She could do embarrassing shit and not have it bite her in the ass.
"I don't have to do this." Ji-Min tested out the thought. "I could go home and just let him run wild until he gets picked up by the cops or a local suit."
…Nope, bad idea. Ji-Min sneered. The steering wheel creaked under her grip. The thought was extremely displeasing.
She couldn't let someone else handle him. That was her role and no one else got to do it. She was going to find out whatever half-baked plan he had pulled out of the garbage can of his mind, and she was going to thwart him.
That was what she'd been doing for months now. The newspapers would say that she was a rogue vigilante, with varying degrees of approval. They said that she was Hammer's mysterious nemesis, a shadow that only emerged when he was free to drag him to justice.
The truth of it was that Ji-Min was a massive hater and she couldn't stand to let Hammer have anything.
She stopped at a gas station in a bad mood and got an offensively large cup of tea from a faded machine. It tasted shit. She tossed it out the window and got bottled water at the next stop. The drive really wasn't that long, except that she was too keyed up to turn up music and enjoy it.
The closer to confrontation she got, the more wound up Ji-Min felt. The tension eventually got so high that she parked the car and did some furious calisthenics. She glared at anyone who looked at her, defensive about what she knew was weird behavior. It was necessary.
Ji-Min had spent a lot of time in the gym since her powers came in. If she didn't blow off steam, she'd find herself breaking things by accident.
Before she started driving again, she checked Hammer's social media. Ji-Min leaned on the side of her car and smacked on gum while she scrolled.
"heY r U ready to GOooooo," he had sent to Sunspot.
She'd sent back a thumbs up and a sparkly moon emoji. "Go to bed. You have a big day tomorrow, boss."
"😔 😩 😩 Y don't u love me anymore and be nice o me?"
"Unfortunately, I'm not your one true love 🔨 💕"
"haha 😂 🔥 😘  2 bad!!!"
God, what poor fuckhead was Hammer's 'one true love?' Ji-Min pulled a face and closed the app. Her stomach turned at the thought.
She pushed the disturbing bits away and focused on the eventual crime. If Sunspot was telling him to rest up, then Ji-Min should probably just get a hotel and wait for him to make his move. She sent her sister a text canceling their workout tomorrow morning. Ari sent back a thumbs up and a crying face.
Then she looked up a hotel in the area and checked the price. Feeling spiteful, she logged into Hammer's bank account and sent a $500 transfer to her Swiss bank account. He wouldn't notice. He never did. He might not even know his password. He only ever used his card.
She took a moment to scroll through his recent transactions. Fifty at a gas station, 126 dollars to a pizza place, 7 in ice cream, and a Paypal transfer for 7000 dollars. The note said "clothes."
Her phone chimed. A gray alert came up with some graph and a title about the stock market.
"Oh, fuck," Ji-Min sighed. She opened the app and then went to the settings. She ignored the landing page and its copy of the current stock market happenings. On muscle memory, she opened up the hidden login and typed in the 14 digit code.
The real message showed up.
Warning from Sir Tiger Explosion, it read. Bank robbery this evening in NYC at ….
The tension flooded out of her system. "Again?" Ji-Min snorted. She closed the app and opened up the hater group chat.
Harmes had beat her to it. As she opened it, " 💰 Always love to see someone push the boundaries!!" landed.
Ji-Min cracked a smile. "Innovate. Expand. Boldly go."
"Live laugh love the consistency," said an anon with a pirate hat icon. "Maybe it'll work this time."
"Unlikely," said Harmes. They followed it up with a couple photos of newspaper articles with headlines like "Local Man Attempts to Rob Bank."
Ouch. That wasn't even from the special crimes section. Ji-Min put a crying reaction on the image. Lurkers added crying and laughter reactions as she watched, probably for the same reason.
"Remember when he used the back of his atm withdrawal slip for the ransom note?" Ji-Min typed up. She felt a mean little smile steal across her face.
That got laugh reactions all around.
Feeling better, she shoved her phone back in her pocket and got back in the car. She cranked up the music for the last leg of the drive and arrived at the hotel in a good mood.
She swiped to pay with her Swiss account, and gave a cash tip to the receptionist. She didn't have much to bring in- a gym bag with her change of clothes and kit, as well as the bare basics like a toothbrush and hair supplies. She took her time getting ready by putting her hair up and stacking it with the pins that would support her mask later. When she was done, Ji-Min shrugged on her coat and went for a walk.
She spent an hour casing the city before she decided what to do with her time. Ji-Min got a table at a French restaurant for dinner and ate filet mignon and rabbit. She kicked back in a private corner with a glass of red wine and watched the people eat and walk outside. They were all so distant to her.
She'd never really felt like she was part of the crowd. And now…
Ji-Min finished her glass and left her card carelessly on the table while she went to the ladies room. She saw a server bob their head and hurry over to run the card.
In the bathroom, she checked her hair was staying in place and took a moment to stretch, limbering up her fingers and wrists.
She passed an older woman on her way out. Ji-Min could feel the stare. She didn't deign to look back.
With a yawn, Ji-Min collected her card and slipped it back into her bag. She scribbled a $40 tip onto the receipt and left as much in cash.
It was fully dark out by the time she left. Haunting sirens called out in the distance of the night, tattle tailing on some kind of trouble. She was feeling like trouble herself, personally.
'I'm not ready to go back to the hotel just yet,' Ji-Min decided. She felt the pleasant buzz of anticipation, a thrill down the back of her spine.  Ji-Min slipped her ear buds in and put on something with a thumping baseline beat. She idly used her phone to search the area as she prowled around the streets. The night air was crisp and the air was so fogged with pollution that she couldn't see a single star. It felt exactly like the kind of night for her to be unleashed.
She wasn't too far away from an interesting target.
The Versace store was closed at this hour, and the lights she could see were off. Ji-Min paused outside with her hands in her pockets, looking up. She turned off the music and slipped her headphones into the case.
She could tell that people were still inside. They were probably counting out money and doing inventory. Ja-Min popped in a breath mint and cocked her head at the building, tracking the faint impressions of body heat where workers were moving inside.
It was easier when there were fewer people around. It took her a few minutes to determine how many people were inside and what floors they were on. She casually walked around to the side of the building. She pulled the mask out of her bag and started attaching it, pulling the pins out of her one by one to attach the ribbons to her hair. When she was finished, Ja-Min pulled gloves out of her pocket and slid them on. As she slipped into the shadows, there was no one and no camera to watch her scale the wall.
She settled on a fourth floor window far from any of the lingering employees.
The subtle, cat-burglar type strategy would be to cut a hole in the glass and silently remove it. Hammer would break it with his fist and crash in– but he'd set up a drone first to record it, of course.
Ji-Min took off her gloves so that she could wedge her nails into the frame and pop it clean off. There was an ugly scrape, but the operation was overall very quiet. Ji-Min hummed with concentration and rotated the frame at an angle to maneuver it into the room. She stepped inside and leaned the window against the wall. Then she blinked in the darkness until her eyes adjusted.
She caught her reflection in a mirror while she put her gloves back on. It was hard to tell with her dark eyes, but her pupils were blown out to nearly subsume her whole iris. That was new. The night vision was one of her favorite powers.
When her gloves were back on, she took out a spray bottle and wiped down everywhere she could conceivably have touched on the frame. Then she finally took a look around.
There were cameras.
If the lights had been on, that would have been some small concern. As it was, Ji-Min casually flipped one off and prowled down the deserted department floor. She'd ended up in the home goods section. She dismissed it entirely and crept silently down the stilled escalator.
There was something so poignantly beautiful about the store deserted, dark, and cold.
This was the closest thing to religion that she ever felt.
The first thing she picked up was a thick bangle. It had the brand name emblazoned on it. "This is fugly," Ji-Min said, lips pulling up into a smile. She clapped it onto her wrist. "I don't even want it." She checked the price and let out an incredulous little giggle. "Incredible." She ran a gloved finger down the display and picked up a ring. "Gaudy." She paused. "This has potential, though."
Ji-Min worshiped in a daze as she slipped rings, bangles, earrings, and hair accessories into her bag. She was faintly tempted by shoes and a red dress, but even in her haze she knew better than to take anything that indicated personal information like her size. She could go to another store and buy what she wanted later.
She ended up with an eclectic mix stuffing her purse to the brim. Some of it she would sell, and some she would wear.
She barely remembered leaving. It was as easy as entering had been. She tucked the mask away and made her way back to her bed for the night.
The hotel room was larger than she needed. She turned the bathwater on and asked room service for a pot of tea. When it arrived, she sat it on the edge of the tub and went through her skin care routine. When she finally slipped into the water, she was perfectly relaxed.
After a while, she thought to snake her arm out to grab her phone and check on Hammer again. He'd changed his profile photo since the afternoon. This one was shirtless. Ji-Min let out an annoyed sigh, but her heart wasn't really in it this time. He'd let on more of the details for his plan since she'd last checked.
"The Planetarium?" Her skeptical voice echoed in the steamy air. "Is this going to be like the thing he did with that Aquarium?"
Just like that, her blood pressure was back up.

can we know jared’s net worth!!!!!!!!
Uhm, that's a good question. Like his official one or the secret, illegal one? I think his company is worth several millions. It's probably still a small business with around a hundred employees, maybe a little more and they make a decent amount of money, but Jared also pays his employees well and they all get benefits (including dental!). He also publicly owns several other business, like he's a partner in Mike's gym and the Nine. And then he owns a bunch of other shell companies to launder money. And then he has all his illegal weapons dealing money and all the protection money which is safe and secure in offshore accounts in the Cayman Islands and Switzerland. And then of course there's the house in Chicago that is worth millions and I'm pretty sure by now he's got like a ski lodge in Aspen. So... Idk, if we would add it all up his networth would be around 20 million maybe? If he were to liquidate the company, sell the real estate and the business plus what he's got in the bank. He certainly makes a lot more, but they have an expensive lifestyle 😅 and he does pay his people very well of course. But I think that'd be realistic? Maybe? Idk that much money is all very abstract to me 😅 ten million or fifty it's all equally unreal. But. If I had to give you a number maybe that? If someone out there knows more about finances, and you know, rich people, feel free to chime in!

TW: Body negativity towards Gemma + Leighton with possible triggering words, mentions of blood, both very brief!
*Leighton's POV*
"How's your banana G?" Sam asked, walking into the kitchen where Gemma was sat trying a new food.
Tumblr media
a/n: this baby is a lot bigger than Gemma lol, this baby is like over a year old. Gemma is almost 9 months, but she's on the smaller scale size wise for her age range aka she's short and tiny lol she's our little smush
"Tell Sam it's yummy" I cooed, watching her squish the food in her hand. "She's a big fan" I snickered, looking at the mess in front of me.
She held her hand out to Sam, the squashed banana in her hand as she screamed at him, wanting attention.
The moment she found out her voice could scream and it would get her attention, she never stopped. It's been great. Totally don't ever get a headache from her shrieks.
Sam paused for a second before bending down and pretending to eat the banana, "Mm! Yummy G!" He encouraged, a big grin on her face as she giggled, bringing the banana to her mouth, her hand spreading as she slapped it to her mouth "I'm allergic to banana" he said, my jaw dropping.
"Sam!" I gasped, Sam chuckling as he opened the fridge, taking out some milk and eggs.
"What are your plans for today?" Sam asked, digging through a cupboard.
"Gemma and I have to go to Gabe's parents house, after that I am hanging out with Lexi and Landon. Colby's busy today isn't he?" I asked, Sam nodding. "Yeah, he has a merch shoot today for his own line"
"That's exciting, by being his girlfriend, do I get free merch? Maybe I can resell it and afford rent" I joked, Sam rolling his eyes as he laughed.
"Yes you can have free merch, and no you can't resell it. At least not till it's out, then if you wanna sell it, go ahead"
"Damn, I should've dated Colby sooner! Think I can raid his closet and make a buck?"
"I heard underwear goes for a lot" Sam chimed in, my laugh echoing through the kitchen which made Gemma giggle which in return made Sam and I laugh at the fact that Gemma joined in on our laughter.
Every day she was becoming more and more of a tiny human, and I loved it. I loved watching her grow, and her personality shine through.
She was definitely a curious girl, and had no apprehension which made things interesting. I was very afraid of when she was going to start walking, and jumping off of things. I could definitely see a few ER visits in our future, her needing stitches or a cast, something that will definitely drain my bank account.
Her favorite thing right now is slamming things or banging things, and I think it had to do with liking to hear the loud sound, knowing she was causing chaos.
"Good morning Gemma!" Kat's voice sang, her peppy footsteps hitting the tile. Gemma squealed, throwing her hands in the air, sending bananas flying.
"Gem, careful" I softly scolded, mentally adding cleaning time onto my morning timer.
It was currently 9:15, and I needed to be out the door by 11:40, internal stress starting to rise as I tried to sit in the moment, but all I could think about was everything I needed to get done before I had to leave.
Kat walked over to the highchair, pretending to eat some of Gemma's mashed banana. Gemma's eyes widened, her mouth dropping as Kat slowly brought the banana to her mouth, G's high pitch scream and grabby hand towards the food stopping her. "Geesh, here" Kat laughed, plopping her finger into Gemma's mouth, giving her the mushed up banana back. "Leigh, your baby is a food hog" I shrugged, chiming in, "I'm just glad she's eating" Gemma squealing yet again, "Yes you, you're a selfish little banana hog" Katrina cooed at Gemma, teasing her, Gemma's banana filled grin causing Katrina to laugh.
Something I didn't expect from having a baby, is how much of a welcomed distraction she would be. My mind definitely has been racing since yesterday, I mean, how could it not? But something that has been nice is now that Gemma is going to be 9 months old in two weeks, she's on the move and I constantly have to be worried about where she is, what she's doing and what she is putting in her mouth. I don't have time to think about how I was lied to, or how my life is slowly crumbling beneath my feet, or how I'm going to get through this. right now I'm just making sure she's fed, and cared for, and happy.
I was doing my best.
"Are you visiting Cynthia before you leave?" Sam asked, pouring the scrambled egg mixture into the hot pan.
"I'd like to. She's due soon, which is weird to look about"
"Damn, already?"
I nodded, scooping up some of the mashed banana off the tray, spoon feeding it to Gemma, only for her to shove my spoon away with her hand.
"G" I laughed, her hand slapping the banana, playing with it. Breakfast has definitely become a meal we had to plan for. There was no quick and easy bottle in the morning before work. I had to wake up early now to feed her due to how much she loved to play with her food.
"Good morning girls, Sam" Colby greeted, walking into the kitchen and over to Gemma, which appeared to be the theme this morning. "Well don't you look happy" he laughed, noticing the smile on our baby's face, covered in her breakfast. "Oh, you're sticky" he grimaced, her hand touching his. "Thanks for that G, glad I just showered" he teased, leaning down and kissing the top of her head, making her giggle. "Gemma!" He gasped, standing up abruptly. "You have banana in your hair!" he pointed at her, her giggles filling the room.
Well, I guess a morning bath was in order.
I watched the three of them move effortlessly around the kitchen as they got prepared for today, Gemma finishing her breakfast right as Colby had to get going.
"Let me know how it goes with Gabe's parents, tell Landon I said hello, and you little girl, better behave" he warned Gemma, eyeing her up before leaning down to kiss her goodbye.
"Good luck with your shoot! Have a good day!" I called as he was leaving, Colby stopping in his tracks and turning around.
"Can't believe I forgot my favorite part of the day" he hummed, leaning down to kiss me.
"Get a room!" Sam called, Colby kissing me a few times before pulling away.
~
Gabe's parents' house went okay. There were a few passive aggressive comments towards me, but I ignored them and stayed quiet, wanting to just get through the day. It was nice to see Caden though, Gabe's brother. He was around the age of my younger siblings.
One thing that stuck with me throughout my car ride to pick up my siblings was something Bridget had said whilst holding Gemma.
"Oh, you've gained some weight" Bridget noted, bouncing Gemma slightly. distaste evident in her tone, angering me.
"That's a good thing" I piped up, knowing how bad we struggled with getting Gemma to keep weight on when she was younger.
"Look at her chunky thighs" Bridget frowned, Gemma looking at her with curiosity.
"Mrs. Bennett-"
"What are you feeding her? Are you feeding her too much? You know, obesity-" She started, making me hit the end of my rope.
"OKAY THAT'S ENOUGH!" I snapped, quickly standing up and snatching my daughter away. "If you don't like me, that's fine. Whatever, but don't you dare pick on my daughter's weight!"
"But the rolls—"
"Are supposed to be there! She's still underweight for her age" I glared. "Even if she was overweight, she's still my perfect little girl!"
"Oh, so she just has your genes then" Bridgett huffed.
"What does that mean?"
"She's naturally chunky looking"
I sighed to myself, hearing the soft snores of my sleeping girl in the backseat, trying not to let my mind overthink her words too much.
I knew Gemma wasn't overweight, because it was a topic of conversation at most of her pediatrician appointments about how she needs togainweight.
The past few months she's definitely plumped up a bit which made me feel good, but she still wasn't where she should be.
I just couldn't help but feel so much resentment towards Bridget, and her judgmental ways. I had gotten used to her jabs towards me, but hearing her pick on something as dumb as my daughters thighs being chunkier than the last time she saw her, irked me in a way I've never felt before.
I pulled into my parents driveway, texting my siblings that I was here, not wanting to wake Gemma to go in.
I saw a text from Colby asking how it was doing, and I unintentionally let out a deep exhale, testing him that it went fine, and that I was waiting for my siblings, in return asking how his shoot was going.
There was also a text from Aaliyah giving me her flight info for when she comes, letting me put it in my calendar so I didn't forget.
I scrolled through my texts, practically jumping out of my skin when the passenger door whipped open.
"Hey Leigh-" "Jesus christ!" Landon and I said at the same time, the back door also opening, Lexi climbing in. "You scared the shit out of me!" Landon snickered, shutting the door and grabbing his seat buckle.
We had a bit of small talk in the car, catching up a bit, when the topic of relationships got brought up.
"Are you still seeing that guy Lex?" I asked, glancing at her in the rearview mirror, seeing her head shake. "What happened?"
"He was flirting with Veronica"
"Whose Veronica?"
"The whore of the school"
"Ah" I hummed, nodding my head slowly.
"Is there a reason we never got to meet him?" I pressed, curiosity eating away at me.
"Dad wouldn't have approved" She shrugged, my curiosity becoming even stronger.
"Why?"
She stayed silent.
"Lexi? Lexi Nicole, what was wrong with him?"
"He was older" She muttered.
"Huh?"
"He was older"
"How much older?"
"Twenty six" she muttered, shrinking in her seat.
"TWENTY SIX?!" I shrieked. I turned to Landon, "Did you know?!" he nodded and I smacked his arm. "LANDON!"
"What?!" He shrieked back at me, becoming defensive.
"You fucking knew and didn't tell me?!"
"Wasn't my place to tell" he shrugged and I glared.
"Lexi, you're seventeen!"
"I'll be eighteen next year!" She defended, but I wasn't having it.
"He's older than my boyfriend!" I hissed, feeling myself become protective. "How the fuck did you meet a twenty six year old anyway!"
"Er"
"LEXI"
"A PARTY!"
"What party?" I pressed, so wishing I wasn't driving right now so I could beat her ass.
"An influencers party" She mumbled, and I immediately used my blinker to switch lanes, turning into a parking lot so I could beat her ass.
I put the car in park, quickly turning my body to face her, "An influencers party?! What the hell were you doing there?!"
"I was with a friend"
"Whose party?"
Maybe Colby knew them?
"I don't know"
"YOU DON'T KNOW?! LEXI!" I yelled seeing Gemma jump in the mirror that was on the headrest of the backseat above her car seat, her lip quivering before she started to cry from my outburst.
"Why are you so mad? You're no saint!" She snapped, my eyes widening, "Are you for fucking real right now?!"
"IT'S TRUE!"
"You're a bitch" I grumbled, rolling my eyes before tossing my seatbelt off and hopping out of the car.
I opened the backdoor, I could feel Lexi's eyes on me as I unclipped Gemma's car seat buckles, picking her up to soothe her.
"Shh, it's okay. Mommy is just mad at auntie Lexi" I shushed, cradling her.
I felt her tears make my shirt wet which broke my heart.
I grabbed my diaper bag, shutting the car door and walked over towards the grass area near the car, dropping the diaper bag on the grass before carefully sitting down, my hands keeping Gemma held close.
I tried to set her on the grass, but her fist was clutched to my shirt, making it hard to set her down.
I tried to continue soothing her as I dug through the diaper bag, trying to find her rattle that she enjoys, when I heard a car door shut.
"Uncle to the rescue!" Landon spoke in a silly voice, quickly "zooming" over towards us, "ripping" Gemma from my hold and spinning her around, trying to get her to laugh.
I heard her little giggle, relief spreading through my nerve system, letting me effectively shuffle through the bag.
With another sound of a car door shutting, Lexi was standing next to Landon, fussing over Gemma.
Where the fuck is this rattle? I swear I always pack it, it's her favorite toy!
I literally dumped the diaper bag out, groaning when one of her puff cereal containers popped open, a handful of them falling out onto the grass.
I resisted the urge to chuck it across the lawn, taking a deep breath and grabbing the container to close it, trying to figure out what to do with the puff cereal.
Don't cry. Don't cry. Don't cry. I repeated to myself, pulling myself together as I collected the fallen out baby food, not sure what to do with them now.
"Leighton?" I heard from behind me, not replying as the pieces of cereal I just picked up, rolled out of my hand, pissing me off. "Leighton?"
Stupid fucking baby food, where the fuck is her rattle?!
"Leighton?"
"WHAT?!" I snapped, whipping my head around, Landon looking at me concerned.
"Are you okay?"
I ignored him, glaring at the sprawled out contents of my diaper bag.
I found an empty Ziplock bag, snatching it and taking the lip of it between my teeth to open it, stuffing the trashed cereal inside of it.
"Do you need help?" I heard him ask as I started collecting my items, not seeing her rattle anyway.
"Landon, just give me a minute" I begged, haphazardly tossing stuff in the bag, Gemma's cries and Lexi's attempts of getting the baby to giggle being the only thing I could hear.
"Leighton, what's wrong?" I heard him ask as I reached to grab her blanket, shaking the grass and dirt off of it as I messily folded it, throwing it into my bag.
"Leighton, just stop for a second!" He demanded, his hand grabbing my shoulder.
The moment his skin touched mine, I felt my body shake as my breathing turned to panting; my eyes became watery, trying desperately to shut off my brain and calm down.
I felt arms wrap around my neck from behind, Landon pulling me into his chest.
"You're okay" he soothed, holding me tight as my tears fell.
I can't believe I'm fucking crying AGAIN.
I missed being high and fucked up, I didn't cry then.
My eyes closed for what felt like a minute, except when I opened them, Lexi was standing in front of me on her phone, Gemma was in front of me, pulling things out of the diaper bag, and Landon still had his arms wrapped around me.
I took some deep breaths, trying to relax my nerve system; allowing my body to collapse against Landon.
I wiggled out of Landon's arms, rubbing at my face to get rid of the annoying tears, feeling my eyeballs burn, which was making me irrationally angry.
"You're going to be okay Leigh" Landon reassured me, confusing me.
"I'm fine" I muttered, snatching the baby blanket off the ground, shaking it off again and balling it up, stuffing it back into the diaper bag.
"Here" Lexi said, pulling my attention away from Gemma, her phone held out towards me.
I gave her a weird look before taking the phone, asking who was on the other end.
"Leighton?" I heard Colby say and I glared at Lexi. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine" I spoke through my clenched jaw, keeping my hard glare on Lexi.
I heard Colby sigh "Leighton", but I cut him off, repeating myself.
"You're not fine" He argued, my forehead twitching near my scrunched up eyebrows.
I rolled my eyes, throwing Lexi's phone at her, which she quickly caught as I stood up, grabbing both Gemma and the diaper bag.
"Where's your rattle G?" I asked quietly, bouncing her on my hip as I walked back towards the car, my eyes still burning, my chest tight as I struggled to breathe.
My eyes immediately landed on her rattle sitting in her car seat, my eyes closing as I took a deep breath, shaking off the annoyed feelings and slipping Gemma into her car seat, sneaking the rattle out from under her leg, shaking it in front of her face, trying to get her to giggle, the curiosity in her eyes as she stared at me felt it was going straight to my soul.
She eventually did crack a smile at the rattle, kicking her feet against her car seat as she giggled, her hand reaching out for the rattle, squeaking when I handed it to her.
Thank god.
Honestly losing her rattle would’ve been my last straw.
"Leighton, Colby wants to talk to you" Landon informed me once I shut the car door, Lexi's phone in his hand.
"Can you sit with Gemma?" I questioned, Landon nodding, thrusting the phone at me.
I rolled my eyes, grabbing Lexi's phone.
"What" I sighed, Landon hopping into the back with Gemma allowing me to wander away, spotting Lexi watching me.
"Lexi called saying you were having a mental breakdown, what's going on?"
"Fucking brat" I muttered, Colby silent on the other end.
"So... what happened?" He asked carefully, hearing me groan.
"I'm fine, I swear"
"Leighton I'm hours away from you, I can't help or fix it, if you don't tell me what happened. I need to get back on set in 15 minutes, so please just cut the shit and tell me what happened?"
I rolled my eyes, resisting the temptation to hang up on him.
"I swear I'm fine. I'm just overwhelmed; and I didn't have a mental breakdown!" I protested, ready to strangle my sister.
"Leighton, if you don't relax you're going to burn out. A lot has happened, and you're doing too much. Breathe. You're twenty two. You have a lifetime to fix your wrong-ings —"
"I have to go. Have fun at your shoot. I'm staying at my parents tonight" I grumbled, my finger pressing the end call button as I heard him say my name.
I quite literally stomped over to my sister, ready to slap her, but much to my disappointment, she was already in the car.
With a few deep breaths and the best fake smile I could muster, I climbed into the car, "Are we ready to go?" I asked in an overly cheerful voice, earning confused looks.
I'm determined to have a good day with my siblings, so if that means faking it till I make it, then I better win a damn Oscar by the end of the night.
"Colby's mad at you" Lexi mumbled, my eyes rolling.
"If he's only mad at me, then he's doing just fine"
"What does that mean?"
"We WILL have a good day and you WILL shut your mouth"
Lexi, Landon and I took Gemma to a children's museum which was actually really fun.
I moved past my annoyance with Lexi, and I actually really enjoyed watching my younger siblings play with Gemma.
Landon helped Gemma crawl up some small stairs to where they had a few tactile items, and I took this opportunity to apologize to Lexi.
"I'm sorry for yelling at you earlier" I started, watching her eyes light up, "But I cannot get on board with you dating a twenty six year old when you're still in High School"
"But we're not dating anymore?"
I sighed, remembering we're in a public place.
"How long did you date for?" She was quiet, a long disappointed sigh falling from my lips. "Did you like him?" I asked quietly, my eyes locked on Gemma's smile as she smacked a block toy, watching them spin.
She nodded, and my lips purse, a heavy exhale coming from my nose. I stayed quiet, not sure how to correctly talk about this with her.
"I don't like you being disappointed in me" She said softly, my eyes quickly glancing over at her, seeing how sad she looked as she glanced around the room.
"We'll talk about it later, okay? I just.. I'm sorry for yelling. I'm trying to work on that"
~
I sat at the kitchen counter with Landon, Lexi reheating my parents leftovers.
"She's so tired" Landon chuckled, cuddling his sleepy niece into his chest, rocking her softly.
"I think she liked hanging out with you today" I told him softly, wanting to keep my voice down for her. "She recently noticed the Teddy Bear you'd gotten her before we left. She's been hanging out in her nursery more where we have it placed, here wait" I pulled out my phone, scrolling through my gallery and finding the photo, "She fell asleep with it the other day"
A text from Colby popped up on the screen, distracting us from the photo.
I rolled my eyes, swiping it away.
"So he's mad at you, and you're mad at him, for what?" Landon questioned, giving me a look.
"I'm not mad at him, he's mad at me for hanging up on him"
He hummed, dropping the conversation and thanking Lexi for the plate of food.
Once dinner was done, Gemma had awoken and Landon offered to feed her dinner, having me show him out to prep the breast milk bottle and I found some canned pears, letting him mush them up in a baby bowl.
"Good enough?" He asked, showing me the pears that now looked like apple sauce.
"Yeah, looks fine. As long as she can't choke on it — let me find a bib, actually, wait" I walked over to Gemma, tugging her shirt over her head. "There ya go!" I cheered, Gemma giggling as the shirt was tugged over her head. "You little weirdo" I giggled, leaning down to kiss her cheek.
"Have you thought about teaching her baby sign?" Lexi questioned, leaning forward against the island counter.
I scoffed with a laugh to it, "I barely have the time to shower, let alone teach my daughter sign language that I don't even know"
"We could teach her!" Lexi quickly chimed and I sighed.
"I have to go home soon"
"I thought you were moving back?"
"And where did you get that idea?"
"I may or may not have been eavesdropping on you and Colby"
"LEXI"
"What?! You guys don't tell me anything!" She tried to defend herself, my body tensing as I shouted, "SO EAVESDROPPING IS THE ANSWER?"
"Well if you weren't so damn secretive all the time!"
"HOW AM I SECRETIVE?!"
"YOU DON'T TELL ME ANYTHING!"
"YOU'RE MY SISTER! I DON'T HAVE TO TELL YOU SHIT!"
Her jaw dropped as she stood there speechless. "Wow" she exhaled, shaking her head at me.
"Don't fucking wow me! You don't know half the shit I'm going through right now!"
"Because you don't tell me!" She yelled back, and I saw Landon grab the baby bowl and Gemma, in my prereferral, leaving the kitchen.
"YOU DATED A TWENTY SIX YEAR OLD PERVERT! YOU DON'T GET TO YELL AT ME FOR NOT TELLING YOU THINGS!"
"He wasn't a pervert!"
"HE WAS FLIRTING WITH A GIRL FROM YOUR SCHOOL! HE DOESN'T EVEN GO THERE!"
"You don't know that!"
I snorted a chuckle, shaking my head with an eye roll, "Even better! He what.. failed 10th grade 10 times?!"
"Still smarter than you" She muttered, leaving me speechless.
"He deserves to be in fucking jail!"
"So do you!"
My jaw dropped. "FOR WHAT?!"
"For being a shitty sister!" She snapped back without missing a beat, her words feeling like a kick to my stomach.
"I'm sorry you feel that way" I said softly, my knuckle rubbing at my eye, not wanting to cry again.
I was tired of crying.
I turned around, leaving her there to go find Landon and Gemma, my shoulders dropped in defeat as I took some shallow breaths, blinking the tempted tears away.
"Are you able to care for her while I go shower?" I asked Landon quietly, seeing him nod without looking over at me, focusing on getting the baby spoon into my daughter's mouth; Gemma making it quite a difficult process since she liked to play with her food.
The second the warm water hit my tense shoulders, I rolled my shoulders back, letting my head tilt to the side as I took a deep breath, feeling all of my anger, stress, concern, and sadness come to surface.
My chest yet again tightened as I swallowed the lump in my throat, my arms coming to cover my chest, my hands resting on my throat as I breathed, feeling my pulse point under my thumbs.
The stars started falling, my hands pressing into my throat, my head tucking into my arms. I could feel my shoulders shake underneath my touch, moving my arms to rest on top of my shoulders, squeezing slightly.
I couldn't get the right amount of pressure that I was so desperately craving, causing me to sob harder when I pictured the way Colby held me when I was pregnant.
I felt so tired, and overwhelmed. Like I couldn't do anything right, and any path I turned down, only led me to even more doom.
I couldn't escape it. I felt like I was running in circles with no way to escape.
My mom is dying, my sister hates me, my boyfriend is mad at me, my brother is overseas in the army, my sister in law isn't talking to me, my baby daddy rarely answers my texts; too busy with his new life over in New York to care about me or his daughter, and all of my friends left me; including Aaliyah whom barely every replies to my texts! Not to mention that I just moved back to Minnesota and might have to move back to California due to the sudden news of my mom's illness becoming terminal which puts my already illegal job in jeopardy; not like I can get a real job anyway because of my damn criminal record that I don't even know if I can get expunged! I felt so stuck and alone and I just wanted to disappear.
Everyone always says with good news comes bad news... but there isn't any good news! I've had nothing but blow after blow, creating this pile of shit for me to sort through; to get nothing in return!
I felt my back slide down the shower wall as my sobs became louder, my hands covering my face to muffle the noise.
My shoulders convulsed as my eyes began to burn, the hot tears quickly flooding my cheeks making it extremely hard to catch my breath.
I don't know how long I sat there on the shower floor, sobbing as my mind raced with everything I needed to figure out.
I wiped at my nose, the water from the shower hitting my feet as I took some deep breaths and I noticed that my legs needed to be shaved, which pathetically enough made me cry even more.
Another fucking thing to do.
I quite literally was drowning in my own thoughts as I reached for the shampoo, not bothering to get up off the floor.
I eventually pulled myself together, rinsing out the conditioner from my hair as my mind told me everything I've done wrong, reminding me how this was all my fault.
Sure, I wasn't to blame for my mother getting cancer; but I could have been there for her more frequently if I wasn't selfish and focusing on fixing all this shit I've fucked up; and sure I didn't choose to have my brother go overseas, but I definitely was to blame for Colby being mad at me, and my sister hating me, and my criminal record making my life more difficult.
There were a lot of things I could have changed that I now need to figure out how to.. I just felt like I couldn't.
I was tired of feeling stuck, and tired, and broken.
I just wanted to breathe.
I got out of the shower, my boobs incredibly sore as I wrapped the towel around my waist, informing me that I needed to pump.
Another thing to do.
I was brushing out my hair when there was a knock on the door, my daughters wails on the other side.
I tucked my towel tighter before opening the door, Landon holding Gemma whose cheeks were bright pink, food all over her face as she made grabby hands towards me.
I immediately grabbed her from him, mentally groaning when she shoved her face into my neck, getting mashed pears on my skin.
"What's wrong?"
"I don't know! She's your baby!" He said frantically, "She finished eating and just started crying"
I took a deep exhale through my nose, nodding. "Okay, I'll deal with her, thanks for feeding her" I muttered, Landon nodding before walking away, letting me close the door.
Now I get to clean the baby.
Gemma's cries echoed in the bathroom as I turned on the sink, testing the water before plugging the hole.
"What's wrong G?" I asked softly in her ear, leaning down to test the standing water. "Come here honey"
I crouched on the floor, her wiggling body making it extremely hard to stay steady, my towel loosening as I laid her down on the rug.
I took off her pee filled diaper, closing the tabs and setting it behind me before picking up the crying baby and carefully placing her in the sink.
"Look G, water" I hummed, splashing a little in front of her. "You like water, 'member?" I kept my hand on her as I reached over for a dry washcloth, barely being able to grasp it between my fingertips, groaning at the stretch. "Mommy isn't limber anymore" I snickered, wetting the cloth and running it over her body, wiping the food off, accepting the fact that my towel was now pooled at my feet.
Her hands splashed the water, the counter becoming wet, her body wiggling as I wiped her face.
She glared at me which made me laugh, wiping a little more harshly at the stuck on pears.
She started to cry when I wouldn't give her the  messy washcloth, "You and me both kid" I muttered, eventually finishing the bath and wrapping her up in a towel. "Don't pee before I can get a new diaper, do you understand? I'm not cleaning your pee up off the rug"
I placed her towel wrapped body on the rug, her hands grabbing at my toes as I tried to finish brushing through my hair; glancing down at my phone that was now ringing.
Do I ever get a break?
Seeing it was Colby, I exhaled and answered, hitting the speaker button. "Hello"
"You're being immature" is the first thing he said, my eyes rolling before I winced, the brush hitting a snarl in my hair, wincing again as Gemma's nails dug into the skin of my foot, informing me I needed to trim her nails.
The list never ends.
"Please don't right now" I begged, not knowing how much more I could take, and to be quite frank, I didn't want to find out.
"You fucking hung up on me when I was trying to help you!" He spoke in an annoyed tone, adding onto my stress.
"Colby, please"
"Why the fuck would you hang up on me!?"
With not another word, I clicked the end call button, feeling the familiar sting, and at this point I was getting pissed at myself.
Can I ever stop fucking crying?! Crying isn't fixing anything!
"Ow! You little-" I stopped, catching myself as I looked down, my foot bleeding. "Gemma Lorraine!" I frowned, watching the blood start to trickle.
My cheeks puffed out as I breathed, my foot stinging from the fresh cut.
I felt a tear start to roll down my cheek, and I wiped it away, snatching my clothes from earlier off the closed toilet seat, dressing myself, listening to Gemma babble to herself, only to hear her cries and see more blood.
For fuck sake.
I carefully picked her up off the ground, seeing the small trickle of blood on her cheek.
I didn't even know her nails were getting bad!
Defeated, and now feeling like a horrible mom, I carefully held her body that was still wrapped in a pink towel to my chest, grabbing a new washcloth to clean off the blood.
My phone was ringing yet again, the sound starting to make me lose my mind as I reached off to silence it.
Please tell me I packed the nail clippers.
I carried Gemma down to the basement where I was going to be staying, plopping her body on the bed and giving her a fresh diaper, thanking god she didn't pee, or even worse, poop herself before looking for the tiny nail clippers.
I shook her rattle in front of her face as a distraction, digging through the diaper bag only to hear my phone ring; yet again.
"I thought I silenced you!" I grumbled, fishing it out of my pocket.
It was Colby again.
Rolling my eyes, I completely shut my phone off and threw it across the carpeted bedroom, dumping out the diaper bag.
Baby over boyfriend. I had bigger problems than him being pissed at me for hanging up on him, twice.
I didn't pack the nail clippers. Fucking perfect!
Feeling extremely tired and stressed out, I just sat there for a minute, hearing Gemma start to whine, knowing she was getting tired too.
I felt defeated.
I didn't even have those stupid newborn mittens, not like they would fit anyway.
I was ill prepared, and I felt stupid for not even thinking about it.
I grabbed a soft onesie for Gemma, sighing at how it was the last clean outfit in the bag.
I was getting low on her clothes which was adding onto my stress.
I had a little money I could spend on it if I went to the thrift store, but I also didn't want to buy more clothes if she was going to wake up tomorrow and have had a growth spurt, and not fit anymore.
It was an annoying gamble my broke ass had to play, and almost 9 months in, I was getting tired of playing.
I snapped her onesie buttons, softly talking to her as a distraction, playing peek-a-boo with the towel, listening to her giggle before carefully picking her up and bouncing her softly against my chest to try and keep her calm.
I groaned, knowing I needed my phone for the white noise, becoming annoyed at the fact that I turned it off, and at the fact that if I turned it on, he could call again and ruin the calm ambiance I was trying to create.
I sat down on the bed with my phone, turning on white noise from my Spotify app before blocking Colby's number so he wouldn't disrupt me putting her to sleep.
Sitting in the dark room with the white noise that I've come accustomed to, relaxing me as I nursed, I could feel my body start to shut down and fall asleep.
I softly brushed my hand over Gemma's head as she nursed, my eyes closed, my thoughts becoming numb.
I woke up to my phone buzzing on my pillow, Gemma's warm breath hitting my chest, my eyes wincing from the bright phone screen, trying to read my caller ID.
My face scrunched up when I saw it was Sam calling me, my fingers fumbling to hit the green button, trying to shove my phone to my ear with my shoulder.
"Hello?" I mumbled, sleep evident in my tone.
"Leighton?" He said frantically, my brain not registering his tone.
"Hm?" I hummed, my eyes closed as I fell back asleep slowly.
"Colby's been in a car accident"

As Kevin and Ethan went to meet Swire with the Wonyoung binder, they were accosted outside the meeting room by Franka.
“Can you give me one photocard? Out of all those, just one. She won’t even notice. I saw what it did for Skadi and Nearl and Ch’en! I want that too!”
“Or you could end up a Silence or a Lava,” Liskarm chimed in as she walked out of the room to join them.
“That’s because they got their photocards off Temu,” Franka fired back.
“Sorry about my girlfriend,” Liskarm said as they walked away. “She hasn’t been the same since Sesa’s toasterfucking made her grow two extra heads. I never thought I’d say this, but thanks goodness for Closure.”
With Franka and Liskarm gone, it was just Jessica and Vanilla as bodyguards in the room with Swire as Kevin and Ethan entered.
“Where’s the money?”
“I, uh… don’t actually have trillions of dollars,” Swire confessed.
Everyone blinked. Jessica already knew, but she still blinked with everyone else.
“The other Swire locked me out of my rightful accounts and I still can’t get in. I can still pay you! But I had to get a loan from Jessica.”
Ethan and Kevin confirmed the money transfer and handed over the binder. After they left, Swire, Jessica, and Vanilla continued to put their heads together about defeating the original Swire’s security measures.
“Tell the bank there was black mold making you think you had a clone.”
“No, a carbon monoxide leak.”
“Get another DNA test.”
Meanwhile, Ethan and Kevin lived a now very wealthy life in Columbia, free of toasterfuckers, Scaramouches, clones, and murderous Wonyoungists.
