— lucifer can’t stand bananas. it’s just a thing. even the smell will have him pressing his handkerchief over his mouth like a sick victorian man. does satan use this to his advantage? possibly.

— has very feminine hands. he covers them with gloves so he doesn’t have to hear asmo’s jealous whining. if anyone brings it up he’s not above strangling them with his dainty, girlish fingers.

— flexible. like shockingly. it doesn’t really come to light that often but every once in a while lucifer follows single mom yoga videos on the weekends.

— mammon has the prettiest facial features ever. like his eyes and lips look so good in candid photos. his magazine covers are the bane of asmo’s existence.

— bird tendencies. like i mean squawking and jumping like 3 feet in the air when startled. in his demon form he’s just a big parrot. he does the head tilt thing when he’s confused.

— if anyone stands in front of him for longer than a minute he’s picking lint out of their hair and fixing their clothes. his brothers have gotten more than used to his “preening” and either avoid standing around him for too long or just take it. lucifer does this too and sometimes they’ll just stand and fix each other’s clothes for like 5 minutes straight while everyone else is like “???”

— levi is tall. very tall. he’s just so scrawny and lanky and his posture is awful so you wouldn’t even notice until he actually straightens up to his full height. this rarely ever happens unless he’s in his demon form. when it does he is scary.

— cosplays online. his cosplay friends are some of his favorite people. he already sews his own costumes (as we’ve seen), and he’s really good at makeup. one of his future plans is to meet up in the human world to go to a con with his friends.

— screams like a little girl. one time mammon accidentally walked into the bathroom when levi was showering and he shrieked. lucifer ran to see what the commotion was because “how did a human child find their way into the devildom??” levi has never felt more embarrassed.

— satan watches trashy reality tv in his private time. bad girls club, keeping up with the kardashians, you name it.

— can sing the whole periodic table song by tom lehrer forward and backward. i think satan is actual really good at science and it would be his best and favorite subject.

— he just likes animals in general. he has a thing for bunnies after visiting a human world petting zoo.

— asmo has an abnormally long tongue, like surpassing attractive and approaching freakish. he usually keeps it in his mouth but once every so often decides to creep solomon out just for fun.

— has soooo many stripper friends. if you’re wondering how his hair and makeup stay in place the whole day, he learned from the best.

— he definitely designed an entire line of lingerie but only made one of each design. they’re ultra rare collectibles in the devildom and worth more than you could imagine.

— beel can french braid and make friendship bracelets like he’s going to a girl scout camp. nobody can tell me he didn’t hand make the necklaces he wears.

— speaking of martha stewart beel, he can crochet and makes blankets and cute plushies for belphie all the time.

— luke is actually his little brother and no one can convince him otherwise lol they go back and forth over nothing all the time and stop talking to each other until one of them says “what do you want for dinner”

— belphie is the king of doing his own piercings at home because why pay $50 for something he already knows how to do? he ends up taking some of them out before they heal because he gets tired of them and ends up with a bunch of scars on his face and body.

— you and beel are his dream journal. he texts the attic club gc after every nap to tell you guys what his latest dream was about. (you’re the two people that show up in his dreams the most.)

— goes absolutely dormant during depressive episodes. the complete opposite of his twin brother (beel has to keep busy at all times to stay distracted). asmo carries him to his private bathroom and lets belphie pick his favorite soaps and lotions (he likes the ones that smell like sandalwood, they remind him of taking naps in his brothers’ rooms).

It's my TEN YEAR Loki-versary!

November 2013 was my first outing in my first Loki, going into Boston to see the "midnight" showing of Thor: The Dark World with my friends. I had spent the previous few months working on everything new to me: first armour, first leatherwork, first costume of this complexity. Turns out it was only the beginning!

Over the past ten years, I have made or modified 11 Loki costumes (and I'm working on #12). I've done screen accurate builds, original designs, and obscure concept art that never made it into the films. I've taught myself so many new skills because of these costumes (and my grand total for clamping on zipper stops is well over 10,000). I've met Tom Hiddleston twice in full cosplay, for which I am forever grateful, and more than that, I've made some of my closest friends because I fell down the Loki rabbit-hole.

11. Most unique merch you have for a fandom

Would a depressed person have THIS BAG???? In all seriousness, I obviously have the most Karl merch... stickers, 3 stuffed versions of him (2 official, one crocheted,) a pillow that says "TRASH MAN," a blanket of his big stupid face, a tiny body pillow where he's in thigh high stockings on the back I suppose though that the truly most unique pieces of "merch" I have are the functioning replicas of Crow T. Robot and Tom Servo I use for my MST3K cosplay. :) They always get a ton of attention and they deserve it! 12. Fandom you'll probably end up joining This is so weirdly hard because I have no real desire to join any other fandoms right now lol. You will absolutely be justified in saying this is an insane comment but I'd feel like I was betraying my stinky dollar bin magneto husband lmao it's why I put him in all these different AUs. I guess I'm adjacent to BG3 but I just enjoy the game, I'm not really into actively involving myself with fan activities at the moment. I am trying to think of movies/shows/games etc. that are coming out in the relatively near future and I suppose I could see myself maybe getting into Nightingale, that Victorian-looking survival game? But again, that's probably because I can easily insert my beloved OC's/Karl into stuff like that. A saw blue flash outside my window. I was home alone at the time, I looked outside to see...a goofy old car? Weird. I probably shouldn't go outside to look but, eh? Who's here to stop me? I went to go grab my flashlight, and my boots. I put those on and went outside.

"hello? Anyone here?" I asked aiming the light at the car.

"H-Hi! I uh I'm sorry for crashing my..del- my..." the boy looks around and sees a Tesla. "My...Tesla!"

"are you okay? That's not a tesla. By the way, where did you come from? I saw a blue flash and Im now looking at a teenager who looks like he came from the 80s." I said as the boy gets out of the car, slowly.

"oh uh it's a...dress-up!" He says

"a cosplay?" I burst out laughing.

"hm? Look, can I have some money or something so I can stay somewhere?" He says with a serious face.

I hand him $20 dollars and he take it and runs off.

"wow, really can't trust people now. He just ran off." I say and walk inside.

The next day, I woke up to hearing tapping on my window. I look to see that same boy from last night.

"what?" I say when I opened the window.

"Geez, waking up on the wrong side of the bed?" The boy says.

"what do people who watch people? 'peeping Tom'? How long were you watching me? Nevermind, ignore that. What do you want?" I back away from the window as I see the boy jump in.

"nothin, just wanted to come in." He gave me a smile-smirk and raised his eyebrows.

Gosh that smile. WAIT I DONT EVEN KNOW HIS NAME!!

"what's your name? You look like a slacker." I asked and gave a fact.

"haha, very funny. Um no Im Marty Mcfly." Marty said.

"I'm Y/N L/N."

He laughed.

I actually had a fun time with Marty, he said he would like to come again for the rest of the week. How could I say no? He asked me if I wanted to date on the 4th day. I said yes, even though we hardly knew each other.

I got a call on the 7th day:

"Hello, Y/N? Can you meet me outside your window?"

I saw him outside the window. I came down.

"hey!" He said while smile-smirking.

It's been 70 years, I'll never forget him. I'm 87 years old. There has been Flying cars, cellphones, ai, and blue tooth headphones. I'm still telling my story, I'll never forget my first teenage Love and my only love. I adopted a girl when I was 27 and she had started a family with her husband. I never heard from Marty Again..I hope he's doing okay.

useless desires (Persistence of Vision, s2 e8)

I just realized I posted my drafts out of order! And skipped Persistence of Vision!! So sorry, but also what is time, etc.

"Persistence of Vision" could also be titled “kisses no one wanted to see on television.” There are so many of them! Voyager is a show that is fundamentally bad at romantic subplots, and this episode in particular seems determined to deliver awkward makeout scenes that literally no one asked for.

Truthfully I’m inclined to like this episode - it’s gothic, and it's about feelings, and those are both good things! (Season Two as a whole is strong in the area of feelings-forward episodes, even as it struggles with such matters as “plot.”)

We open with Janeway, modern career woman, losing her cool due to the pressures of command. The Doctor orders her to blow off some steam with a holo-novel, so we’re back to Victorian governess cosplay. 

This show’s conception of self-care is so very nineties - Janeway is a leader, but she’s also a woman, which means that an essential layer in her Maslow’s Pyramid is “putting on a corset and getting snogged by a bargain-basement aristocrat.” The problem with the governess holonovel is that it invokes universalized cliches of gendered desire (bodice-ripper tropes) instead of drilling into what this character, specifically, would look for in a holonovel (my money is on lady doctor/cowboy romance, but I will also accept steampunk adventure, or pirates). Some women dig feeling feminine, but they also want to feel like themselves.

Soon Janeway’s repressed lady psyche, pushed to the brink, begins to spill out into ordinary life. When she dares to enjoy a coffee ice cream (instead of one of her inexplicable cups of soup), she begins to hallucinate. Mark shows up!! A ghostly dog barks!!!

I am usually one to try to get behind a canonical love interest - even if my shippy preferences lie elsewhere, canon relationships shed light on character. But man, I hate this jerk. No doubt real!Mark has many pleasant qualities that phantom!Mark lacks, but let's be real, dude has all the charisma of a bin full of pencil shavings.

Mark (and Mollie) have been on Janeway's mind; we know this because she gave their photo a long, plaintive look before trotting off to the holodeck. Now phantom!Mark declares that, quote, SOMEONE ELSE IS IN YOUR THOUGHTS NOW(!!!) As further evidence of her guilt, a hallucinatory Mrs. Templeton appears and jumps her.

Who the heck is someone else?? One is inclined to assume that we're being setting up for a Janeway/Chakotay romance arc - but it’s hard to feel certain this show isn’t fucking with us, making shippy promises it has no intention of keeping. It seems equally possible that Lord Burleigh is someone else and the writers truly believe that Janeway feels guilty for kissing holograms behind her fiance’s back.

At any rate, atmospherically backlit aliens have shown up; the rest of the crew starts hallucinating, seeing loved ones or, in B’Elanna’s case, a torrid romance with Chakotay?? (I am actually okay with these two as fwb, but their relationship is so fundamentally platonic that, again, it feels like the writers are just messing with us.) Mark shows up and kisses Janeway (gosh, two Janeway kisses in one episode, each one profoundly disappointing).

Only Kes is strong enough to resist these bankrupt conjurings of female desire. Her siren is a Tom Paris who needs to be rescued, which is actually a pretty funny and on the nose interpretation of what Kes is into. Overcoming her urge to engage in some hurt/comfort roleplay, Kes rescues the ship, Medusa-like, by using her telepathic powers to return the awkward to sender.

I enjoy this episode because it’s about women’s personal lives, even though the script seems extremely confused about what those personal lives consist of. Janeway and Torres share a very sweet “welp, that was awkward” scene at the end in which they resolve to be a little less repressed in the future.

Of curse, we can't possibly expect either of them to follow through with their vow; when it comes to nineties television, the richest texts are usually those below the surface. 3/5 surreptitious coffee ice creams.

Voyager rewatch s1 ep12: Cathexis

Another one I didn't remember at all, this one was quite exciting to watch. Voyager's first 'crew getting possesed by aliens' story, it's another one of those episodes that's pretty much a copy of an earlier Next Generation episode, but it was well done, and very creepy and suspenseful. I like the way they played up the crew's paranoia to add to the tension. And it was the first time we get to see Captain Janeway's Victorian governess holonovel, which is one of my favorite things, and not just because I'm tickled that Captain Janeway shares my taste in literature, but because she looks absolutely gorgeous in period costume. Like, let me fangirl for a moment here, because look at this perfect vision of beauty, oh my god:

I want her whole outfit, it's perfect. Major kudos to the costume designer for giving her an historically accurate dress and hairstyle. As someone who used to do a lot of historical costuming, I'm very nitpicky about those things, but this is a good costume on every level- beautiful design, well fitted to the actress, fits the character's personality, absolutely nothing anachronistic about it anywhere. 10/10, no notes! I need to cosplay this so bad!!

Okay, I'm done being a costume nerd, back to the episode itself: I appeciated that they mentioned the EMH being programmed with knowledge of various cultures traditional healing practices instead of just having him dismiss Chakotay's medicine wheel as superstition. While I have issues with the wheel prop itself not looking very realistic, I do like that they made a point to say that Earth's medical establishment will become more open minded and inclusive in the future. (But the artwork on the wheel looked central or south american, and I'd always thought Chakotay was supposed to be from the north american southwest- it says a lot about how much the writers didn't care about him that after 7 years of episodes, I still have no idea what continent he's even from. sigh.)

Also lol at Tom Paris talking about how when he was a kid he had a doctor that made housecalls- who the heck has that even now, let alone in the 24th century?? I think this was probably where I started to get the headcanon that the Paris family is super rich- like I know that Earth is supposed to be a utopia with no poverty, but I feel like rich people with inherited wealth would keep on living in their fancy houses in their gated communities, and Tom Paris strikes me as being a privileged kid who grew up in a big house with a swimming pool and a tennis court, who spent his youth riding around in his expensive car (or would it be a shuttlecraft?? do rich people have their own shuttles on earth??) and being a slacker/prankster king at his fancy prep school like a 24th century Zack Morris. (I know I read Pathways back when I was a teenager, and it may have mentioned something about his childhood, but I don't remember any of it, and novels aren't technically canon in Star Trek universe, so I'm sticking with my rich kid Tom Paris headcanon.)

I didn't remember that they gave background crewmember Lieutenant Durst a pretty prominent supporting role in this episode. Obviously it was meant to make his subsequent death more impactful, but it was anyway, since I still remember him for getting killed off. (I probably don't have to give spoiler warnings for a decades old show, but spoiler: he dies in the very next episode.)

Anyway, tl;dr: a solid alien possession episode.

Hope everyone is having a great summer! And to those of you in the trenches of band camp, I hope you are staying cool and hydrated!

Here are a few updates for how things are going. We've been chipping away at fixing a couple bugs such as the missing ending, the fact Poptart's CG only unlocks in the gallery in the bad ending, etc.

Progress is a bit slow since I had to save Hyrule from Ganondorf and now I have to raise a child on a farm, and very soon I will have to journey to a different planet on a rescue mission (don't you love video games). I also went to add in the missing ending and in true Taylor fashion crashed the whole menu, but Ross came and bailed me out.

Also: while going through voice lines to grab bloopers, my sister and I realized we missed a couple voice clips, a Tom and a Peter. Those rascals! I'll have to go back through the game at some point to program those in.

It's doubtful we'll get the updated game out this month, which has flown by. Otakon is looming and we need to start packing! Speaking of Otakon, this is my cosplay lineup. My dream is to meet a Band Camp Boyfriend fan in the wild one day. If you see me, please say hi.

Alex has a very cute Cadence cosplay, too. Maybe she will let me post a picture of her.

went to ace comic con chigaco back in 2018 to see him and tom hiddleston with a dear friend and had a blast

I dressed up as his character the red bandit from the fall for our photo op and let me tell you, his face lit up like a christmas tree when he saw my cosplay 🥹

I asked him to wear my red bandit mask, but the photo op people were so pushy that we didn't have time to really get into a good pose, which resulted in a delightfully awkward photo:
