really well meaning liberal sff writers are my enemies because I was listening to a writing podcast a long time ago and one of them was complimenting the queer representation of some book (don't remember the book and this is not against whatever book that was) because there was like off the page sex scenes with queer characters and the author was like "and then it faded to black. Which is right, because their sex is none of OUR business." like this was years ago and I still think about this and get mad

like fuck me, I wanna see gay sex I wanna see trans sex I wanna see it explicitly on the page and in detail. you would never say that "its none of our business" line about cishet sex. like this is clearly a bizarre spectacle to you and that being the case isn't everyone else's fault and every time one of yall say shit like this I'm adding another graphic queer sex scene to my SFF

So, this is someone who publicly posted on Facebook bragging about how she was harassing authors and reviewers, because 'the authors have everything to lose and [she doesn't].'

And then threw a sulk because people she knew were telling her that was an awful.

And if you're reading this and going "Man, I bet she's a teenager and is going to pull out the 'Oh my god, I'm literally a minor!' thing!" then congratulations! You're right.

Gen Z really is just ... almost uniquely terrible, tbh. I've compared them to Baby Boomers before, and I think that's usually pretty apt, but actually no Boomer I've ever met would ever dream of doing something like this.

so in rereading my fics i'm noticing a pattern. a lot of my writing revolves around questioning authority and power.

it's really obvious in DS4 and LIC, but it's really funny that that's the central theme of The Meyers Diaries, because it's the central theme of my capstone for my degree. I'm focusing on relationships between North and South Korea in the 1980s, and a lot of it is related to who has power over what, and why.

So like, DS4 asks how power is gained and maintained

LTF digs into how we as people give and take away power

CBA looks at power in a bubble

and LIC looks at the choices people make to preserve their power, and what happens when they lose agency as a result

long story short, you learn a lot about yourself when inserting fictional characters into a story, and I learned that i have a problem with authority on a fundamental level :)
