When they were young the Black brothers were always a topic of conversation around town. everyone really gotta practice the attitude of "until you top nitpicking my language and actually engage with the substance of my argument, I'm not discussing this with you".

if someone wants to take you in bad faith & spend hours arguing about the "proper" language to use, that's on them. you don't have to validate that reactionary response by giving it the time of day.

use the words you have, use the words you're comfortable using. yes, precision in language can be helpful and important. but I just don't think the way someone speaks should ever be a barrier to open and genuine discussion. we gain nothing from policing language, and everything from allowing others to speak honestly without fear of being shot down for using "incorrect" phrasing.
