Ninja Ming: Jump and Teleport through Levels

Ninja Ming 2D precision platformer game is due to release on Linux, Mac, and Windows PC soon. Thanks to 1 Poss Studio for constantly cooking up great new ideas. Which is working to find its way onto Steam this month. If you’re into fast-paced 2D precision platformer with a twist, Ninja Ming is one to watch. Made by a solo dev from 1 Poss Studio, this sleek indie game is hitting Steam on April 11th at 4AM GMT. That’s cheaper than lunch, and honestly, it might be more satisfying. To celebrate the launch, there’s gonna be a 2-week community event where you can win over $450 in Steam gift cards. Not bad, huh? So what’s the gameplay all about? Picture this: 241 levels of tight, precision platforming where you don’t just jump — you teleport. That’s right, instead of typical dashes or double jumps, you blink across platforms like a proper shadow warrior. The movement is smooth, fast, and fun once you get the hang of it.
Ninja Ming - Official Release Date Trailer
youtube
You’ll be playing as Ming, an everyday dude turned ninja, running through the Path of Trials. There are 8 chapters, each with their own unique terrain, puzzles, and skill challenges. As you level up, you unlock new abilities that let you move with absolute style — mid-air teleport chains, slick wall runs, you name it. And it’s not just about reaching the exit. Each room has hidden Scrolls to collect, if you’re the type who like 100% completion or just flexing those skills. Here’s the best part: Ninja Ming was inspired by Naruto’s teleport move, Flying Thunder God. The dev — Jackutea — had zero coding experience when he started in 2020. Fast-forward 10,000 hours, and boom: 241 handcrafted levels. Respect.
Features:
Assist Mode – Slow things down to 0.3x speed if you're stuck.
Speedrun Mode – Unlocks after you finish an area. Wanna beat the current Forest world record of 102.73s?
Instant Respawns – No waiting after death. Die, retry, repeat, keep playing Ninja Ming.
Dynamic soundtrack – Killer beats by 4 Channels Club keep the energy up.
Hidden Achievements & Easter Eggs – For the treasure hunters.
Oh, and if you’re wondering, the Scroll Portal unlocks the final 4 chapters once you beat the first 4. That’s when the real test begins. But you can play the game demo on Linux via Proton. So yeah — Ninja Ming 2D precision platformer is looking slick. Teleport, conquer, repeat, which is launching on April 11 and it’s going for just $8.99 USD / £7.79 / 8,99€ on Steam. That’s cheaper than lunch, and honestly, it might be more satisfying on Linux, Mac, or Windows PC.

OH MY GOD, I CRACKED THE CODE!
I got Animal Crossing: New Horizons a few months after it was originally released, and by the time I finished the main storyline by K.K visiting my island, i was having a difficult time catching the Tarantulas and scorpions that you come across at night.
I tried every trick other players used, but due to my somewhat slow reflexes and twitchy thumbs, my character ended up getting bitten or stung.
But i think I cracked the code on how to actually catch them!
So I was playing Animal Crossing because I couldn't sleep and came across a tarantula in the town square; I stopped moving and immediately equip my bug net at the same time the eight legged abomination that haunts the nightmares of every Arachnaphobe does its pre-charge attack pose.
For the next 3 seconds (i literally counted) me and the spider are in the middle of what is a family friendly western showdown right in front of the clothing store at 11:00 at night.
I've got my switch an inch away from my face, glaring at the little f*cker as if it murdered my entire family and is the sole reason for living is catching it just so I could sell it to Flick for that juicy 12,000 bells.
"Come on, you pixelated bastard. Charge me, i'm gonna get you this time!" I whisper yell at the screen like Arnold Schwarzenegger taunting the yautja in Predator into a trap at this arachnid composed of zeroes and ones.
Thats when the little bastard turns around and scitters away a short distance. I'm like: "B*tch, you did not just turn your hairy back on me!" and i walked closer, only for it to go "Gotcha B*tch!" And do its attack pose again!
I stop and get ready again. 3 seconds later, it turns around and walks away again!
This cycle repeats until I get close enough to let go of the A button.
Swip and plop! I catch the a$$hole!
It is at this moment I forget that I live with my family and proceed to let out a loud "YES!" just as the clock reaches the stroke of midnight that not only gives my dog sleeping at the end of my bed a near heartattck, but scares the literal sh*t out the cat eating out of his metal bowl that goes CLANG that results in a domino effect of chaos that ends with my 10-year-old orange tabby face planting into the glass window that wakes up every on edge texas dog in my neighborhood.
And that is how I learned to catch a tarantula on Animal Crossing! Have a great day, guys!
How to catch a tarantula:
Approach until attack pose.
Stop and hold A to catch.
Wait 3 to 4 seconds while tarantula is posing before it turns away and begins to move.
While still holding A, move slowly towards the tarantula until it spins back to face you and poses again.
Repeat steps three and four until you are within catching distance, then release the A button to catch tarantula with net.
Tips: Get as close as you can before the tarantula spots you. When it does spot you, immediately hold the A button to enter sneaking mode, the tarantula will still be posing, but you will be able to get a few steps in before it actually charges.

Cruel Summer, Epilogue

cruel summer masterlist
AN: I swore to you I would have this posted before I moved, and I DID (I leave in 11 hours for my cross country drive). Sorry this took forever, I pretty much wrote... a 10k word sequel.
It seems that fate enjoys playing cosmic jokes on Rowan Whitethorn when it comes to the first day of summer.
He and Aelin were supposed to take off for Terrasen yesterday, in order to make it to opening day at the park. Then, after closing, he was going to take Aelin down to the water, beneath the docks, where theyd kissed for the first time. It was going to be perfect. Just the two of them, reunited by the water, watching the sun dip below the horizon, ready for a new summer of memories – this time to be made together. But today was a piece of shit, and everything had gone to shambles. With the app formally launching this week, Rowan’s office was in crunch mode. He tried to escape, but was held back with last minute bugs to fix. He sent Aelin off, telling her he’d meet her there as soon as he was freed from work. But before he knew it, yesterday turned into noon today. And somehow noon turned into five. And then to six. At seven, Rowan finally put his foot down and insisted he would answer any questions from the road. He’d be working remotely all summer anyway. He’d dictate code for them over the phone, if they needed. And they had. His front dash rings with an incoming call from Aelin as he speeds along the interstate, praying to the gods he doesn’t get pulled over. Although with the way his day is going, he wouldn’t be surprised. He sighs loudly in greeting.
“That bad, huh?” Aelin’s sleepy voice comes through the speakers. It’s already midnight, and he’s sure she’s about to fall asleep any second.
“I’ve had about six calls with Darrow,” Rowan sighs. He doesn’t really mind – he loves his job, and loves being part of this team. But, his boss’s perfectionist tendencies have him working long after the clock stops. “I’m so tired,” he complains. “Oh no,” Aelin coddles him. “How far away are you?” Rowan glances at his navigation. “Three hours out. If I don’t hit any more snags.” Aelin chuckles softly. “Yeah, you didn’t forget anything else important, did you?” Rowan groans, thinking of his absolute incompetence as a human. Maybe if he’d been less flustered about rushing out of work and heading to Terrasen, he wouldn’t have made this insane mistake. Nearly an hour on the road, Rowan realized he’d forgotten the most important item he needed this summer. Unconsciously, Rowan pats at his pants and finds the lump in his pocket easily. He swallows thickly. His entire plan would have been ruined without that tiny box. Unable to tell her what he really went back for, he lied and told Aelin he’d forgotten his wallet. She seemed to believe him, but he was now running two hours behind. He picks up his pace even more. “I miss you,” he sighs, and he can hear the crinkling of Aelin’s starchy sheets beneath her head as she rolls to her side. “You’ll have me soon enough,” she laughs. “I wish I could have you right now,” he whines, and he can hear the small hitch in Aelin’s breath before she replies. “Oh yeah? And what would you do to me?” Her voice is low and breathy, and he can’t help but groan her name in frustration. He’s been working his ass off prepping for this app launch. And with Aelin taking classes and studying for boards on top of teaching, they’ve both been far too tired to do anything but curl up in bed and sleep. Two exhausted ships passing in the night. Two exhausted, and clearly horny, ships. Rowan swears as arousal courses through his strained muscles. “Should I pull over?” he asks.
If Aelin wants help getting off through the phone, he’s not not participating. Rowan looks ahead to see when the next exit is. He’ll need to find somewhere dark and secluded fast. But Aelin hesitates, and he can practically see her flushed cheeks and wild eyes as she chews on her bottom lip as she debates her answer. “No,” she finally replies, resigned. “Just. Drive fast.” Rowan taps the accelerator a little harder, pushing his new car another few miles above the speed limit. “On it.” “Rowan?” She breathes softly into the receiver. “I don’t care how late it is, wake me up when you get here.” “Yes ma’am,” he laughs. “Love you,” she mumbles sleepily. Rowan blessedly doesn’t get pulled over, and somehow he makes up an entire hour, pulling up the long driveway to Ashryver Estate just after 2am. He turns the headlights off quickly, hoping he didn’t wake anyone. The house looks as imposing as always, its wide balconies and oversized windows glowing under the outdoor lights. But Rowan can’t help but think how different his life is from a single year ago. For one, he and Aelin will be sleeping in her room together, with the complete awareness and approval of her parents. Rowan assumed it would be weird for them to be in the house, so they rented a place of their own, but Rhoe and Evalin insisted they spend at least their first night with them. At least. He supposes when he’s been living with their daughter since last Yulemas and asked for her father’s approval of their marriage a few days later, it can’t be that weird. But still, Rowan’s excited to have their own place. Albeit. A much smaller. Less expensive place.
A large yawn rips its way from Rowan’s mouth, and he decides to leave his bag in the bag seat. He’ll get it in the morning. For now, he just wants to take off his work clothes and get into bed with Aelin.
But of course, nothing about today is easy. Rowan lifts the front mat, expecting the key beneath, but it’s missing. He checks his phone to see if Aelin told him they moved it elsewhere. But no. It’s supposed to be there for him. He reaches under a potted plant just to make sure. But still. No key. He jiggles the doorknob, hoping against all hopes that in this small beach town maybe they left the door unlocked for him. But it remains unmovable. Shit. The gods truly are against him. Rowan flicks his cellphone light on, searching the small path that leads to the backyard. Thorns from the overgrown rose bushes scrape his arms, and he hisses as one catches his skin. Fuck this day. Once he makes it safely to the back patio, he attempts the sliding door, but of course, it is locked, too. Rowan glances at the rose trellis, leading up to the second floor balcony he knows so well. It’s been a while since he climbed it, but he thinks he can. He grasps at the holds above his head and pulls himself up, one foothold at a time. As he launches himself over the railing and onto the balcony, he prays to every god he knows that Aelin has left her window unlocked. It doesn’t budge.
Crouched uncomfortably, Rowan lifts his tender knuckles and knocks against the glass of the large window. He watches as Fleetfoot lifts her head, wondering where the knocking is coming from. She spots Rowan and thumps her tail against Aelin’s fluffy comforter, but doesn’t bark or come to greet him. She’s not exactly the best guard dog.
Rowan knocks again, this time a little louder, and he watches as Aelin sleepily rouses from her slumber. He knocks a third time, and Aelin looks around, confused, obviously thinking that he’d woken her from inside the room. He waves from his crouch as she finally locates him on the other side of the glass.
She pads barefoot across the room and unlatches the window, which finally swings open easily.
“Feeling nostalgic?” she asks, her eyes squinting with unreleased laughter.
“Ha ha.” Aelin is the only one laughing as she helps Rowan through the window, but he can’t help but smile at the way her arms circle his waist and pull him towards the bed at the center of the room. “Where’d the front door key go?”
“Oh no, I forgot to put it back? I must have been more tired than I thought…”
He nods, and her arms squeeze his waist tighter, apologizing with her touch. A shiver runs up Rowan’s spine as her warm hands push the hem of his shirt up his back.
“If you’re too tired,” Rowan begins, but his words are muffled by Aelin tugging his shirt up and over his head. “This can wait until tomorrow…” Her fingers splay across his bare chest, and her lips brush against his shoulder, her eyes dark with want as she insists.
“We’ll sleep in tomorrow,” she insists, tilting her chin up towards his.
Rowan lowers his head to hers, and she hums happily as his mouth caresses hers. He doesn’t have to be asked twice. He lets Aelin lead the way, crawling onto the bed on top of her. Aelin’s hands immediately go for his belt buckle, and he helps her, kicking off his pants one leg at a time as he pushes her nightgown over her head.
Clothes scatter across Aelin’s bedroom floor as the pair climb under the covers. Fleetfoot dodges his flying briefs with a loud huff and slinks under the bed, causing both Aelin and Rowan to laugh. But they aren’t distracted by the dog’s antics for very long. Within seconds, the pair is wrapped up in each other, finally after so long, relishing in the feel of being skin to skin. Rowan’s hands skim up her thighs, and he kisses every inch of her neck and shoulders he can reach. He has every intention of taking his time and worshipping her body, something they haven’t had the privilege of doing in weeks, but Aelin has other thoughts in mind.
She guides his hand between her legs, showing him how much she wants him, moisture dripping onto his fingers before he’s barely even touched her.
“Please, Rowan,” she moans, and Rowan chuckles into her cheek, whispering into her ear with a quiet. “Bossy.”
“You like it,” she says, smirking softly.
He does. He loves when she takes charge. But he doesn’t let it happen for very long. Before she can finish her sentence, Rowan lines himself up with her and slides into her with a deep thrust.
Aelin gasps and wraps her legs around him, digging her heels into his ass as he sits back on his heels and grasps her hips. He’s overwhelmed, as he always is when he first enters Aelin. Warmth spreads through his body as he adjusts their position and pace, lifting her hips off the mattress to meet him as he kneels in front of her. He loves her this way, splayed out for him, her hair a tangled, golden mess haloed around her head. She breathes heavily with each torturously slow movement of his hips. She bites down on her lip, but releases a too loud, breathy moan regardless.
Rowan shushes her through his chuckles, loving that even after a year, this hasn’t remotely gotten old.
“C’mere.” She reaches out for him, and Rowan is helpless before her commands. He lowers her hips and leans down to kiss her. Fingers tug at his hair, keeping him pressed against her face. Even when their kiss breaks, they’re content to just breathe into each other’s mouths as he moves inside her slowly and deliberately, savoring each moment.
Rowan increases his pace, feeling them both on the brink, Aelin’s nails digging into his back, his lips at her neck – when the doorbell rings.
They both freeze. Rowan stills his hips, and Aelin’s gaze swings to the door.
“Was that our house?” she asks, eyes wide. The doorbell is followed by several knocks.
“Uh, I think so,” Rowan says, glancing at the clock, which now reads 3 am. Who the hell could that be? Fleetfoot pokes her nose out from under the bed and slinks towards the door to sniff under it.
“Do you think if we stay quiet they’ll go away?” Aelin whimpers, grasping his neck tighter. “I’m so close,” she half cries-half laughs. Rowan joins her.
“Me too,” he says, letting his head drop onto her shoulder.
“Just finish quickly,” she says, tilting her hips toward his, and Rowan chuckles into her skin.
Rowan refuses to move as he hears two pairs of footsteps coming down from the third floor. Aelin’s parents.
They listen as the front door opens, but are unable to pick out any words. The door closes just as fast, and he can feel Aelin relax and push her hips against his as her parents make their way back upstairs. He finally gives in and starts moving again, much to both their relief.
The relief is short-lived, though.
“Um, Aelin?” Evalin calls from the other side of the door, accompanied with a quick knock, and Rowan has the good sense to roll off to the other side of the bed, grumbling the entire way, upset to be cockblocked as Aelin tosses on her nightgown. Whatever was happening is officially over now. Rowan briefly wonders if it’s a cursed day as Aelin swings her door open.
“Is everything okay?” she asks her mom breathlessly, and Rowan tucks himself further under the blanket, willing his still prominent erection to subside quickly.
Suddenly, two cops emerge, and Aelin crosses her arms over her chest, backing up into the darkness of her room. Rowan would like to throw a robe over her, too, by the way the two cops are looking at her, but he can’t exactly go anywhere right now.
“Sorry to disturb you, ma’am,” the shorter of the two begins. “But we were notified by your neighbor of a breaking and entering? We wanted your permission to sweep your room for any intruders.”
Rowan groans loudly and lets his head fall back against the pillow as Aelin snorts.
“I’m so sorry to waste your time, officers,” Aelin says politely. “But, uh, there’s been a huge misunderstanding.”
Her eyes flick to Rowan’s, who is still under the covers, but based on the state of the pair of them, there’s little question as to what they’ve been up to.
“Let me guess?” the other cop snickers. “Intruder?”
Rowan waves, and Rhoe and Evalin smile as they wave back.
“Rowan, when did you get in?” Rhoe asks, failing to hide his smile behind his hand.
But Rowan’s fairly certain this day could not get any worse. He’s still erect beneath the covers, and completely naked, and his nearly naked girlfriend is being interrogated by the cops and her parents. He wants to die.
“I forgot to leave the key out for my boyfriend,” Aelin explains. “So, he climbed up the trellis into my room.”
The cops apologize for the late-night intrusion, and Rhoe finally laughs fully. “As you were…”
They close the door with a soft click, and Rowan groans, falling back onto the pillow as Rhoe and Evalin head back upstairs, taking Fleetfoot with them.
“Intruder,” Aelin laughs as she closes her bedroom door. “The Cortlands would never have called the cops.”
Rowan perks up at that. “Oh yeah, who’d they sell to?”
“I don’t kno-oww!” Aelin hisses in pain and clutches at her foot. “Ow, what the hell did I just step on?” she cries again, stumbling her way over to the light switch. “Was that your belt buckle? Shit, that hurt.”
Rowan squints as the bright bulb illuminates the room, and his heart stops as he sees what Aelin holds in her hand. Aelin stares with wonder at the tiny box that he’s managed to keep from her since he purchased it last December. Six months living together, and she never suspected once. In his haste to disrobe earlier, it must have fallen out of his pocket. He forgot it was even in there. He’s a fucking idiot.
Aelin’s jaw drops as she looks from the box up to Rowan, her blue gold eyes swimming with awe and confusion.
“Rowan?”
Her voice sounds so small and timid and so un-Aelin like, and Rowan’s stomach drops. Does she not want this?
“I swear to the gods, it was going to be perfect,” Rowan says, scrubbing at his face with his hand. He watches as Aelin’s eyes grow impossibly wider. He closes his eyes and imagines the scene he’d wanted so badly. ”I had it all planned out for today. But, then today happened.” He He sighs loudly.” Six months of waiting… to find your ring on the fucking floor.”
He hates the spike of insecurity and flagellation that fills his brain, ready to convince him he’s useless. He’s gotten better about his negative self-talk over the last year, but sometimes old habits are hard to break.
“Six months?” she asks, fiddling with the box in her fingers.
“Yulemas shopping,” Rowan chuckles to himself, but there’s no humor to be found there.
“Rowan.” She repeats his name, nothing more than a whisper from the other side of the room.
“I used to feel like the lesser party in this relationship. And I swear, I don’t feel like that anymore. But, the way this has happened, I’m feeling pretty useless. That, or this proposal is cursed.”
“Can I see it?” she whispers, and Rowan suddenly feels even more nervous, if that were even possible.
He nods, feeling the strain in his throat as it bobs uncomfortably, his throat suddenly dry.
She cracks the box open, and Aelin breathes in sharply as she picks up the emerald, flanked by two smaller diamonds, and laid into a platinum band. It had cost two full months of his paycheck, but he’d seen it and immediately known it was meant to sit on Aelin’s finger for the rest of her life.
She approaches the bed slowly, and his body warms as her awed expression turns into a brilliant smile. He loves when she looks at him like that. Like he’s special. She straddles his lap, bringing one knee to either side of his waist and wraps one arm around his neck, the other cradling the box in her hand still.
Her lips press against this over and over again as she whispers between kisses, “Yes, yes, yes, yes.”
Rowan’s heart pumping wildly as he pulls back to look at her.
“Yeah?” he asks, and she replies quickly.
“Oh yeah.” She grins and kisses him again. “And if you want to do your plan tomorrow, I am all yours,” she says, and Rowan’s heart feels like it’s going to explode of joy.
He slides the ring onto her finger. It looks just as perfect there as he’d imagined, and he can’t resist perssing the newly jeweled hand against his thrumming heartbeat.
“I’ll give it back in the morning,” she says, a small tear trickling down her cheek.
She can’t stop smiling, and neither can Rowan, both of them mumbling “I love you,” over and over as Aelin climbs into his lap to finish what they started earlier in the evening.
~*~
Rowan wakes before Aelin, which is highly unusual, but she did say she was tired. He glances at the glittering gems on her finger and kisses it softly. He can’t believe this beautiful creature is actually going to marry him.
“Mmm,” she smiles back in her sleep, and he can’t resist pressing his lips against hers.
As he distracts her with sleepy kisses, he slides the ring off her finger, and she pouts immediately. “I’ll give it back soon, I promise,” he says softly, and her smile returns. The ring finds its way back into the small velvet box without any problems, and Rowan pulls on clothes from the floor and pockets it immediately. “Coffee?” he whispers into her ear, and Aelin nods, eyes still closed.
Rowan heads downstairs and grabs his bag from his car, and decides to shower before bringing Aelin coffee. After working all day, then sitting in a car for nine hours, and then engaging in sexual activity for most of the night, he could really use a shower. Plus, maybe he can tempt Aelin into joining him, he thinks.
Upstairs, though, Aelin is already in the bathroom and looking worse for wear. Dark circles rim her undereye, and her cheeks looks pale and sweaty. She flushes the toilet and walks slowly to the sink to rinse out her mouth.
Rowan drops his bag from his shoulder and rushes to her. “Aelin? Are you okay?”
She shakes her head and shrugs. “I think you might be right about the cursed proposal. I’m so sorry,” she apologizes, splashing water onto her ashen face. “A few of my students had this stomach thing, and I thought I escaped it, but…”
She stops and breathe slowly through her nose and out through her mouth. Her eyes flick to Rowan’s in the mirror, looking disappointed and upset.
“Hey, hey,” he reassures her, pushing back her damp hair from her clammy forehead. “You never have to apologize for getting sick.”
Aelin had also caught the flu from one of her students in January, a terrible cold in March, and strep throat that turned into an ear infection in April. Rowan was extremely grateful she’d already gotten the chicken pox otherwise their May would have been really upsetting. It turns out Aelin’s immune system kind of sucks.
“Good thing is it’s only a twenty-four-hour bug, so we can just push until tomorrow?” she says hopefully.
Rowan kisses the top of her head. “Get back in bed. We’ll worry about that when you’re feeling better.”
Aelin grumbles all the way back to bed, but she must be feeling extremely sick if she followed his directions so quickly. Aelin is one of those suffer in silence such people, who likes to think that if she doesn’t acknowledge not feeling well then she won’t be sick. As if she ignores her problems they’ll cease to exist. Rowan has to admit, when he discovered that he was fairly relieved. He’d thought it only applied to him. Oh how wrong he was. If the fact that she climbs into bed without any hesitation is any indication, she currently feels like shit.
“Who gets sick during the summer?” she complains to herself, but when Rowan comes out of the shower, she’s already fast asleep again.
He wanders downstairs to grab coffee for himself and is only slightly surprised to see the whole family there.
“Uncle Rowan!” Gavin cheers, throwing himself around Rowan’s thighs.
“Hey, bud, you’re getting really tall,” Rowan laughs. “And strong,” he continues, realizing he’s unable to walk with the little boy grasping his legs.
“Where’s Auntie Ae?” Gavin asks, his blue eyes wide with wonder and curiosity. Rowan recognizes that look. It’s the look of a man obsessed with Aelin Ashryver. He doesn’t particularly blame the child.
“She’s still sleeping,” Rowan answers the little boy, who immediately looks disappointed.
“Someone wore her out?” Lysandra jests, welcoming Rowan with a warm hug and a nudge to his ribs.
“Very funny.” Rowan says, though his tone lacks any humor.
Aedion snorts. “Come on, it’s a little funny. And a great story. Locked out, and then interrupted by the cops while banging?”
Rhoe chokes on his coffee. “I don’t think I used the word banging.”
“No, you used the words ‘being intimate’ which is somehow much grosser,” Aedion laughs again, taking a long sip of his coffee.
Rowan’s cheeks are burning, he can feel the flames go all the way up to his ears. This is why he’s grateful he and Aelin have their own rental they can check into tomorrow.
He ignores the conversation at the table and instead lets them know Aelin isn’t feeling well.
“So she’s not coming to the park today?” Gavin pouts.
“I don’t think so, but maybe tomorrow?”
Appeased, Gavin rushes off to play with Fleetfoot..
Rowan wishes the family a good time at the park and heads back upstairs, wanting to check in on his sick girlfriend. Wait, no. Not girlfriend. Fiancée. He grins at that.
Upstairs, he climbs into bed next to Aelin’s slumbering form. She immediately curls into his thigh, and his mouth twitches upward when she sighs his name in her sleep. His fingers run through her hair, and he basks in a moment of silent happiness. In sickness and in health, right? While Aelin sleeps, Rowan opens his laptop to see about a hundred emails waiting for him. He answers them dutifully as he sips his coffee. His work only halts when Aelin launches herself out of bed and stumbles to the bathroom, still half asleep. He itches to help her, but he’s learned from previous experience that Aelin does not like to be coddled when she’s sick. Instead, he opens her windows to let some fresh air in. The room fills quickly with the crisp scent of salty sea air traveling on a breeze. The shower turns on in the bathroom, and Rowan returns to his never-ending emails while he waits for her to emerge. A cloud of steam billows around her skin as she opens the door. Her skin has regained some color, a pink flush to her cheeks and her eyes look brighter. “Napping helped?” “How long was I out for?” she asks, her voice hoarse as she curls back up next to him. He glances at his watch. “Only a few hours. How are you feeling?” “Like crap,” she laughs. “You should go downstairs. You do not want to catch this.” “I don’t know,” Rowan says, stroking her cheek. “I wouldn’t mind staying in bed for a few days.” Aelin shivers and nuzzles further into his side. “You’ll mind it when you’re hunched over the toilet.” She sniffs the air and a greyish pallor takes over her complexion. “If nothing else, can you take your coffee cup downstairs. The smell of anything food-related is...” “Not good?” he asks, and as Aelin goes to shake her head, she rushes into the bathroom again and slams the door shut. As loathe as he is to leave her, Aelin is right. He can’t afford to get sick right now. So, Rowan takes his laptop out to the patio with Fleetfoot keep him company as he finishes his work. When Aelin finally makes her way downstairs at the end of the day, she looks significantly better. The whole family sits at the dinner table, and their heads swivel to the disheveled blonde, still wearing her pajamas. “You look like you’re feeling better.” Aelin nods in affirmation and Rowan breathes a sigh of relief that it seems the worst has passed. “Can I make you toast, Fireheart?” Evalin asks her daughter, who wrinkles her nose at the large dinner spread on the table. “No, I need something cold for my throat.” She pats at her neck. “Do we have any ice cream?” Rhoe laughs. “Yeah, she’s feeling better.” “Freezer,” Evalin directs her, and Aelin makes herself a bowl of mint ice cream quickly before taking a seat on Rowan’s knee. Rowan looks at Aelin’s empty ring finger as she eats. He can’t wait for tomorrow. Can’t wait to make it official. ~*~ “Twenty-four-hour bug, my ass,” Aelin frowns as she exits the bathroom the next morning. She’d been so convinced it’d passed when her ice cream stayed down last night. Apparently not. “This is the worst.”
Rowan pats the fluffy comforter next to him, and Aelin crawls on top, cuddling into his side like a cat. It’s been a long time since she felt this sick before. And she had the flu earlier this year. Stupid music students and their germy fingers!
“Rowan,” she whispers, wondering if she should admit what she’s about to admit. “I’m starting to believe in the curse.”
Rowan snorts too loudly, taking her comment as a joke, but she’s not so sure. Three days in a row his plans have gone to shit, and Aelin is starting to feel antsy to have that stunning ring on her finger again. She missed its weight as soon as he pulled it off yesterday, and she’s ready for it to be returned to its rightful owner. Her.
As if he senses her agitation, Rowan drags his fingers through her hair, scratching her scalp and playing with the strands like he knows she likes. Her eyes flutter close, and within a few minutes, she’s asleep again. Aelin wakes again in the late afternoon feeling groggy but with an even stomach. She takes a quick shower and brushes her teeth and heads downstairs, where Rowan is lounging out on the back patio. His computer glasses are perched on his nose as his fingers type a mile a minute, probably fixing some bug that Darrow couldn’t reprogram. His brows are furrowed, and he bites his lip – his concentrating face.
He finally looks up as she approaches the doorway, and she watches as his wrinkled forehead smooths out, his serious face replaced by one of delight. It makes her heart beat faster.
“You must be feeling a lot better than this morning if you’re looking at me like that,” Rowan says, closing his computer and standing to greet her. His arms welcome her with a warm embrace, and she inhales deeply as he wraps his arms around her, tugging her close.
“Is everyone at the park?” she asks, lifting an eyebrow suggestively, and she can’t help but smile as Rowan’s eyes darken.
“What happened to being concerned about me getting sick?” he asks as his fingers trail patterns against the thin fabric of her tank top.
“Who said we had to fuck face-to-face?” Aelin says, tugging his shirt with her hands. “Just bend me over the kitchen island.”
“Aelin,” he groans, pressing his face into the top of her head. She can feel his chest vibrate with laughter against hers, letting her know that her idea is being rejected. But if the other things moving against her are any indication, he’s not completely disinterested.
“As tempting as that sounds,” he begins, and by the look on his face, she knows he’s been thoroughly tempted, “I was kind of hoping not to be interrupted the next time we do it. If you’re really feeling better, though, maybe we should move into our own place tonight?”
Aelin grins excitedly. As much as she loves Ashryver Estate, she’s thrilled she and Rowan will have their own place this summer. Where they can be as loud as they want. And desecrate every single surface.
It takes them barely thirty minutes to pack, and Aelin calls her parents to let them know they won’t be there when they return. Aelin assures her parents she feels better, that the bug has run its course, and apologizes for sneaking out while they’re gone.
She and Rowan pull up to the small brown house nearly simultaneously. It’s not on the beach, about a fifteen-minute drive from Aelin’s parents, and about a ten-minute walk to Lysandra and Aedion’s, on a small residential street dotted with lush green trees and bright verdant lawns. They drop their bags in the foyer and immediately wander around the place, taking in the cozy, beach town vibes.
The backyard is perfect, and Rowan opens the screened in porch door for Fleetfoot to run around the wide gated lawn. At the center is a long, narrow pool, which glistens a bright turquoise. Aelin can’t wait to spend her summer lounging in it.
As they make their way back into the house, they finally make their way to the kitchen. Its immaculate marble counters are dotted with decorative bowls of lemons, and Aelin notices Rowan nearly drooling at the Viking double ovens. But what has her attention is right in the middle of the room.
Rowan follows her gaze and his green eyes darken, a shade of forest that she knows means trouble for her. The pair practically race to the kitchen island, and they make good on Aelin’s earlier suggestion, well into the evening.
~*~
Aelin wakes in the middle of the night, gasping for air, feeling overheated in her own skin. She must have had a nightmare, but she can’t remember what about. She looks down at a dreaming Rowan for comfort, his eyelashes twitching against his tanned cheeks, and feels her heart swell in her chest. She loves this man so much. She can’t believe she’s going to be his wife. Years ago, when Chaol had thrown around the word “marriage,” she’d flinched. Literally. Flinched. Now, she aches to let everyone know that this man is going to be her husband.
She leans down and kisses his bare shoulder. “Rowan,” she whispers against his skin, and he stirs slightly. “Rowan, wake up.”
He startles awake, bolting upright faster than he has any right to do, and looks her over seriously. “Are you okay?”
“Yes,” she says, and he exhales quickly.
“Why am I waking up then?” he asks, looking at the clock. It’s barely past 4 am.
“I know you wanted to do your perfect proposal, but…” Rowan’s face pales in the moonlight, and Aelin reaches out to reassure him quickly. “I don’t need a perfect proposal. I knew when we left here last summer that you were it for me. You’re kind and funny, and you understand my terrible humor without making me feel stupid about it.” Rowan smiles at that one, making her stomach flutter. “You’re ambitious and proud, but you have never asked me to change what I want or to make myself bigger or smaller. You just love … me.” He swallows and nods. He does. She knows he does. Which is why, she barrels on, confessing what she’s been ruminating over the last two days in bed.
“I want to marry you so much,” she breathes, her voice cracking with the weight of her emotion. “And even though I don’t know what your plans were, I know this wasn’t even close to what you imagined. But,” she pauses and bites at the skin on her lip as Rowan leans closer. “I can’t imagine us doing anything traditionally, can you?” He shakes his head and rubs his thumb against her bottom lip, unhooking it from her tooth. She smiles at the gesture. “I loved my accidental proposal,” she says more boldly, “And I want to tell everyone I know immediately. I want to have a celebratory dinner with all our friends, and I…” Her voice cracks again as a rogue tear falls from her eye. “…want my ring back.”
“Right now?” Rowan asks, unshed tears in his eyes, and Aelin nods readily. As Rowan crosses the room to the dresser and pulls the small velvet box from his sock, Aelin’s heart starts pounding again. This is really happening.
He shakes his head slightly as he opens the box and pulls out the ring. It gleams under the soft glow of the moon, casting emerald shadows across their white duvet.
“You know, that was a hell of a proposal, Ms. Ashryver.” He smirks, and she cocks her eyebrow in return.
“So what’s your answer, Mr. Whitethorn?”
He pretends to look pensive for a second, before sliding the ring back onto her finger. It fits perfectly. “Yes, I think I’d like to marry you,” he says, leaning close to her lips. “And what about you? You’ll marry me, too?”
“I already said yes,” she whispers. The tension hums between them, both their hearts pounding with the electric current of their promises. “Yes,” she answers again, and Rowan pulls her beneath the blankets with him.
~*~
“You know your initials are going to spell AAW, now, which I find absolutely adorable,” Lysandra says as she takes Aelin’s splayed hand in her grasp. Her eyes narrow in on the new piece of jewelry, examining it like a hawk.
“It’s stunning, Ae,” she concludes, and Aelin can’t help but peer over Lysandra’s shoulder to grin at the man of the hour, taking beers out of their fridge.
“I know,” Aelin says, her cheeks starting to hurt from smiling so much at her family and friends’ enthusiasm over their “very expected” nuptials, as Manon put it.
The doorbell rings, and Aelin attempts to extract herself from the small circle of women who have huddled around her hand to “oo” and “ah,” at her ring, but Rowan is faster. He welcomes her parents into their abode with a wide smile. Evalin and Rhoe drop off giant catering tins filled with food, prepared by Emrys, on the kitchen island.
Rowan throws Aelin a knowing smirk, and her cheeks pink remembering the thorough way they debased that particular part of the house last night.
Lysandra chuckles softly and whispers in her ear, “I hope you Cloroxed that.”
Aelin’s pink cheeks darken, heating wildly at Lysandra’s knowing smile. She must look shocked, because Lys simply shakes her head and shrugs. “How do you think we got two kids? Please. Aedion and I used to screw on every surface in—”
“Okay!” Aelin holds up her hand. “I don’t need to know.” She gags, feeling slightly queasy at the image of her brother and his wife going at it. “But yes, we invested in Clorox wipes this summer.”
“Smart girl,” she says, squeezing Aelin’s shoulder lightly.
Aelin rolls her eyes and heads to the island to help her fiancé unpack the food and welcome her parents. They greet her with hugs and kisses, and Evalin can’t stop smiling. Neither can Aelin, though. She’s getting married. To Rowan. She’s never felt this kind of happiness.
When Aelin goes to lift the foil from the food, Rowan pushes her away. “Go, sit. I’ll make you a taco.”
The food smells heavenly. Emrys has outdone himself, Aelin thinks to herself as she takes in the spread of multiple taco fillings and accoutrements. And in a separate Tupperware, just for her, is her favorite potato salad, labeled with her name and the word, “Congratulations!” underneath. She thinks she might cry.
“Grilled adobo chicken with corn salsa, guac, and cheese?” she asks, and Rowan nods.
“Chips?” he asks, and she shakes her head, instead pointing to her special Tupperware. He winks at her and shoos her away, back to entertain everyone as he calls out, “Food’s ready!” A line forms across the island, and Rowan oversees food distribution as Aelin wanders back out to heir friends. She knows what he’s doing. By staying by the food, Rowan doesn’t have to socialize or make small talk. Things he loathes. She doesn’t call him out, letting him retreat to his comfort place of the kitchen as she makes her way out to the screened in porch where most everyone is sitting.
“So, when do we get proposal details?” Elide asks, sipping at her beer. Lorcan frowns, commenting that proposals are private, and Aelin briefly wonders if those two are next in line to walk down the aisle.
She smiles as slides onto the chaise next to an outstretched Dorian, who’s already working on his third beer, and tells a very vague and abridged version of their proposal.
Manon laughs every step of the way, relishing in the ridiculousness of their premature proposal. “And the ring traveled across the room from his pocket, hm? How aggressively was he kicking them off?”
“Manon, my family is here,” Aelin hisses.
“Your family knows what you two were up to in your bedroom all last summer,” Aedion laughs loudly, “And apparently this summer,” he continues, pulling Lysandra into his lap, as the room bursts into laughter at Aelin’s expense.
“I hate you all,” Aelin groans as Rowan walks into the porch, both their plates in hand.
“I hope not,” he says as he hands off the plate to Aelin. “Otherwise, the rest of our lives are going to be pretty awkward…”
“You know I love you,” Aelin says, batting her eyelashes. “You bring me food.”
Rowan rolls his eyes and takes a large bite of his taco. Aelin does the same and nearly moans in satisfaction. It’s so spicy and so good. She really hopes it stays down. The only food she’s had in the last two days has been ice cream and toast.
As she devours her plate, she listens to Elide and Lorcan’s summer plans, nodding and hmming in all the right places. She saved her potato salad for last, because you should always save the best for last, and excitedly plops a piece into her mouth. She chews twice before she spits it back out onto the plate. The whole room silences.
“Sorry,” Aelin apologizes, covering the chewed potato with a napkin. “I think the mayo was off.”
Rowan takes a bite of it himself and cocks his head to the side. “It tastes fine to me. Are you sure you’re not still sick?” he asks, leaning over to feel her forehead. It flushes under his touch, but not because she’s sick. She’s been fine for over twenty-four-hours.
“I’m fine,” Aelin whines. “But that mayo was not.”
Manon opens her mouth and closes it. And then opens it again. “Maybe you’re pregnant.”
“No…” Rowan and Aelin reply quickly at the same time, before glancing at each other, and then back at the room filled with their friends and family. Their expressions range from amused to suspicious to horrified to confused, and suddenly Aelin thinks she’s going to be ill all over again.
“That’s not possible,” Aelin comments confidently. There’s no way. She went back on the pill as soon as she went home last summer. Although now that she’s thinking about it, she’s not a hundred percent sure she actually bled during her last placebo pill week. But she must have, right?
“Aelin?” Rowan asks, his voice unreasonably high. He leans forward and places his hand on her knee, and she looks down at it, placing her hand atop it, before looking back at him.
“I think we should go to the pharmacy.”
“Oh, I’m coming too!” Elide announces, downing the rest of her beer.
Aelin rushes out of the house without saying goodbye to anyone. She assumes Rowan makes some excuse for their departure, but she doesn’t have time to delay. She needs to know and needs to know now. How the hell could this have happened? There must be some other explanation. Her knuckles are white on the steering wheel as Rowan hops into the passenger seat, and Elide slides into the back.
“Are you okay?” he asks softly, and Aelin nods tersely.
“Uh huh,” she replies, but she’s not entirely sure how she feels.
Inside the pharmacy, Aelin pulls three different brands of pregnancy tests. Rowan stands awkwardly beside her, arms crossed, perusing the back of each.
“I don’t know,” he says calmly, but his wild green eyes betray his panic. “Is there a best brand?”
Aelin doesn’t know. She decides to get all three.
As they wait in the check-out line, Elide giggles loudly.
“Aw man,” she places a hand each on Rowan and Aelin. “Remember the last time I ran into you here? You were buying condoms.” Her eyes flick to the pregnancy tests. “Why’d you stop using them?”
“Elide!” Aelin hisses, and Elide grimaces at her tone. Rowan pays quickly and swipes the bag of the counter and returns to the car. She looks at Rowan, his eyes simmering with worry as he looks her over. “The mayo was off… wasn’t it?” she asks again, and Rowan reaches for her hand, taking it in his larger one and shakes his head.
Aelin speeds home, ignoring everyone as she makes her way into the guest bathroom and pees on every single stick. She’s taking no chances. She sets a three-minute timer on her phone, and slinks against the bathroom door, falling until her butt hits the cold tile of the floor. This was absolutely not the engagement celebration she had anticipated.
Through the door, she can hear Rowan lean against the other side. He must be sitting, too. His head thumps against the wood and she breathes in deeply, eyes screwed closed.
“I love you,” he murmurs against the door, sliding his fingertips through the crack beneath it. Aelin brushes her own against his, and she releases some of the panic she’s been holding in her shoulders at his calming touch.
She stays like that, until her alarm goes off. And she can feel that tension creeping back into her body, which is suddenly frozen with fear.
“I can’t look,” she says.
“You have to look,” Rowan insists through the door.
“I don’t want to,” she groans. “And I don’t have to.” She pauses. “You can.”
She can hear his sharp exhale. “Do you want me to?”
“Please,” she says quietly, and she can hear him stand. The doorknob turns and he pushes the door open. Aelin shifts slightly so he can get through, and he walks straight to the counter top where the tests are laid out, getting her pee all over one of the fancy hand towels.
Aelin closes her eyes tightly, thinking that if she closes her eyes, she won’t have to see the result. But of course. She forgot about her ears. Rowan’s breath stays steady as he turns and crouches in front of her.
“You’re pregnant,” he whispers. Aelin’s heart thuds. She knew she was. As soon as Manon said the word, she knew.
“It was those stupid antibiotics when I had strep,” Aelin grumbles, putting her face into her hands. “I knew there was a chance, and I didn’t say anything. Why didn’t I say anything?” This was so not the plan. Her feelings are all over the place. “Rowan, what are we going to do?”
She opens her eyes, shocked to see how close Rowan is to her. He cradles her face in his hands, his thumbs stroking her cheeks gently as he probes into her with a loving gaze. It takes her aback for a second. The way he looks at her. Gods, she loves him so much. She blinks and is surprised when a tear rolls down her cheek. He wipes it away and kisses it. The small gesture is enough to solidify how Aelin feels.
“I know this isn’t the right time for us. It’s so soon, and you’re in the middle of your schooling, and I’m going to be looking for a new app to work on soon, so… if you don’t a baby right now…” He swallows, his voice pained as he continues forward, and Aelin can’t gasp soon enough. “I’ll support you no matter what—”
“No!” Aelin shakes her head.
“No?” Rowan asks, quirking his head to the side, and Aelin finally lets her tears spill over her cheeks.
“No.” She shakes her head, giving him a watery smile. “This is our baby. I want this.”
“Yeah?” he asks, and she nods again, blinking rapidly. She can’t blink the tears away fast enough, so Rowan kisses them away, pressing his lips against her eyes and her cheeks until her crying abates.
The pair kissing in the bathroom don’t even notice when their party departs, too busy being wrapped up in one another.

Rowan is woken up in the middle of the night, again, by his fiancée. He loves her more than anything, but he’d really enjoy a full night of sleep one of these nights. Preferably without her yelling at him.
“Rowan!” she growls, rousing him from his pleasant dreams, and hoisting him up. Her face is red with anger, her eyes glittering in the moonlight, looking ready to attack.
“Hmm?”
“I can’t believe you knocked me up! Now we have to have a shotgun wedding!” she yells, louder than she has any right to in the middle of the night.
“Can it really be considered a shotgun wedding if I proposed to you before I knew you were pregnant?” Rowan asks, trying to pull her back down, and immediately regrets it, based on Aelin’s increased anger.
She frowns. “I don’t want to be fat at my wedding.”
Rowan laughs sweetly and pulls Aelin into his arms. “You won’t be fat. You’ll be pregnant.”
Aelin pushes herself out of his grasp and glares. Ok. Wrong thing to say, clearly. “I refuse to be fat at my wedding,” she growls, flopping back onto her pillow. “But if we wait until after we have the baby for me to get my body back… that could be two years from now.” She rolls over and faces him. “I don’t want to wait two years.”
Rowan scoots down until he’s facing her, his legs tangled with her bare ones beneath the covers. “First of all, you’re beautiful, no matter what.” Aelin scoffs, clearly not believing his truth. “But, we don’t have to wait.” He can’t help but kiss her surprised face. “Let’s get married this summer. Here. It’s where I’d want to do it anyway.”
He can see a hundred thoughts racing through Aelin’s blue eyes as she contemplates his proposal.
“Plan a wedding in two months? My mom is going to die.”
“If it’s too much…”
“It’s not too much,” Aelin replies, snuggling closer to him. He runs his hand up the back of her tank top, feeling her skin warm the pads of his fingers. She presses closer to him, her curves against his chest, and he dips his head down to kiss her.
“It’ll still be a shotgun wedding,” Rowan says through kisses. “The people who don’t already know will surely figure it out when the baby comes six months later.”
“As long as I look good in photos, I don’t care.”
“Good to know motherhood won’t affect your vanity,” Rowan chuckles, and Aelin gasps.
“Rowan, we’re getting married, and we’re going to have a baby.”
Rowan shakes his head. “I know. What have we done?”
~*~
If Rowan thought last summer was a whirlwind, it’s nothing compared to a summer with a pregnant, last minute wedding-planning Aelin. As soon as they told her parents the plan, Aelin was off to the races. They’ve decided to forgo everything traditional, much to Evalin’s distress. The only thing Aelin has insisted upon is Rowan not seeing her wedding dress beforehand, which he has no problem with.
In fact, he’s been fairly uninvolved in the wedding plans, leaving the decisions to Aelin. He found out very quickly that she had strong opinions about flowers and colors and food. The only thing he’s insisted upon participating in is the guest list – which includes only twenty of their closest friends and family. He knows that number isn’t even a tenth of the amount of people who attended Aedion and Lysandra’s wedding. Aelin is expected to have a high society wedding, but she and Rowan are defying expectations left and right with their lives. But somehow, it doesn’t seem to matter. They stopped asking for approval from anyone the second they got together, and everyone seems to be okay with that.
Rowan smirks as Aelin sighs loudly from the back seat of his car. Her arms are crossed against her chest, pushing up her breasts to make an even larger than usual swell of cleavage. Despite her insecurities, pregnancy looks incredible on Aelin, and Rowan can’t help if his eyes flick to her chest more often these days.
“Stop checking out my rack, Rowan,” Aelin frowns, and he laughs boisterously, tipping his head back in amusement at his grumpy fiancée. “It’s not funny. Look at the road.”
Rowan stares harder. “We’re at a stoplight.”
Aelin’s lips curl into the most adorable pout, and her blue eyes widen.
“You know, you could have driven up here with me,” Rowan says of the empty passenger seat next to him, and Aelin shakes her head.
“No, changing levels is the one thing that makes me queasy,” she explains.
“Which is why you should have driven up here,” Rowan says. “My mom is going to insist that the pregnant girl sit in the front.”
“Adults sit in the front,” Aelin snaps, and Rowan smiles.
“I hate to break it to you, but you are an adult.”
Aelin frowns again. “You know what I mean.”
They drive in silence for a few more seconds until the tension becomes so thick that Rowan has to ask. “Are you nervous about meeting my mom?”
It’s all the prompting Aelin needs to explode. “Yes!” she shouts, throwing her arms up in defeat. “Of course I’m nervous! I’ve stolen her son away from her. You didn’t even go back for Yulemas,” she prattles nervously. Rowan watches as she emphasizes with her hands, a sure sign of Aelin’s stress. It’s completely unfounded, though.
“Aelin, you don’t understand,” Rowan throws her what he hopes is a reassuring smile over his shoulder. “You made Dora’s dreams come true by dating me, much less marrying me and incubating our child. She loves you.”
Aelin barks out a laugh. “Incubating?”
Rowan shrugs. “What would you call it?”
“Incubating works,” she replies with a snort, and Rowan can tell he’s had some luck in calming her nerves.
By the time they arrive at the airport, Dora is already waiting on the curb with her bag in her hand. She’s come to spend the whole wedding week, spending time with Rowan and meeting her in-laws before they make it official. Rowan’s been playing it cool, but he is incredibly excited to see his mom.
He hops out of the car and welcomes her with a big hug as soon as he can. Aelin nervously exits the car and waves hello. He watches as Dora’s eyes go wide as she extricates herself from Rowan and throws her arms around Aelin.
“You are even more stunning in person,” Dora says, causing a soft blush to appear on Aelin’s cheeks. “How are you feeling? Sick at all? How are the cravings? How are your studies? Are you teaching at all this summer?”
“Uhhh…”
It’s so rare that Aelin is flustered, that is gives Rowan some sort of sick pleasure that it’s Dora Whitethorn, who makes her nervous. Rowan can’t help but smile as he watches his two favorite women meet each other. As he expected, Dora goes straight for the back seat when it’s time to return to the car, and it’s a fight Aelin loses quickly.
“Told you so,” Rowan says, winking at a disgruntled Aelin, as she buckles herself in.
“Has your son always been so self-righteous?” Aelin asks the white-haired woman making herself comfortable in the back of Rowan’s roomy SUV.
Dora’s green eyes twinkle as she hums. “No, but he’s always been a pain in my ass.”
“Mom!” Rowan can hear her snickering behind him, and Aelin’s eyes widen in joy. There’s nothing she loves more than teasing him. He forgot that these two share that interest.
“It’s true, baby,” Dora laughs. “You’re constantly making things much harder than they should be. Aelin should know what she’s getting herself into.”
Rowan frowns as Aelin laughs harder. “If I get left at the altar I’m blaming you.”
Aelin snorts loudly and puts her hand on her stomach. “As if I’d raise this chicken on my own. No offense, Dora, but I seems really hard. I don’t know how you did it. And so well.”
“Sometimes you get a good egg,” Dora says with a small smile just for Aelin. “Now, tell me all the gossip about everyone who’s going to be at this wedding. I just flew ten hours and am ready to be entertained.”
~*~
“Stop fidgeting,” Manon hisses, swatting Rowan’s hands away from his carefully brushed hair.
“I can’t,” Rowan admits, tugging nervously at a lock of his hair. He’d meant to get a haircut before the big day, but clearly that hadn’t happened, and now his hair is just a smidge too long, falling into his eyes ever so slightly.
Manon glares, her heavily lined eyes throwing him a look that could kill. And he knows she means it. Rowan stands still, taking a deep breath and attempting to center himself as Manon rolls up the sleeves of his light blue blazer.
“How are you this nervous?” Manon asks, quirking her red-painted lips into an amused half-smile. “Dorian is officiating.”
“Don’t remind me,” Rowan groans. How he said yes to that idea, he’ll never know. Aelin must have been in the midst of performing some incredible sexual act for him to agree to that detail. But it seemed too important to her say no. Plus, it’s not like there was anyone else he’d rather do it. He was just… nervous. About what Dorian might potentially say in front of their guests. After all. He’d been there since the very beginning.
“He loves you both,” Manon says with a sigh. “And I do too. Although if you ever use it against me I’ll deny forever.”
“You love Aelin?” Rowan asks, and he watches as his best friend rolls her eyes and hip checks Rowan. She adjusts the thin straps of her navy jumpsuit, smoothing out the silky fabric to assure her minor assault hasn’t messed up her wedding look.
“I just told you I’d deny it.” She places her hands on her hips, examining Rowan up and down, before adjusting the small white pocket square in his blazer. “There. Perfect.” She says with a pat to his chest. “Ready?” she asks, and Rowan nods.
Rowan leads Manon through the gates of Ashryver Playland and lets his worries ease away. He’s not sure why he was ever nervous. He’s about to marry the most amazing woman in the world.
Beside the pier, in the location where Rowan had intended to ask Aelin to marry him, is a small walkway leading out to a platform on the beach. Ten chairs flank either side, filled with smiling, familiar faces. Dorian waits at the center of the platform, beneath a stunning arch of twisting greenery dotted with pale flowers.
As the sun starts to descend, a dark golden haze casts itself over the sand. He watches as it turns to orange and then pink beneath his shadow. And then he knows it’s time.
Rowan smiles as Gavin leads Fleefoot down the aisle, spreading pale flower petals across the platform with his other hand and then takes a seat next to his family, who congratulates him with high fives and cheers. Fleetfoot happily thumps her tail as Rowan gives her a smile, too.
But his attention is diverted immediately as everyone stands to welcome Aelin. His heart thumps wildly in his chest, hammering against his ribs as he spots her face. Aelin lifts her chin up toward the colorful tie-dye sky and takes a deep breath. As she takes her first step onto the platform, she smiles the most beautiful smile Rowan’s ever seen. He’s sure his face mirrors hers, and he can’t help but laugh as she scrunches up her nose slightly and sticks her tongue out at him. Gods, she’s perfect.
His eyes never leave her grinning face. When he takes her hands in his, when she stands here facing him, all the way until they say, “I do.” He’s not sure what he was ever worried about, because he barely even hears Dorian’s officiating, too busy being swept up in the turquoise-gold of Aelin’s eyes.
When Dorian announces, “You may kiss the bride,” Rowan doesn’t think twice before wrapping his arms around her waist and pulling her close. If she’s surprised by the exuberance of his kiss, Aelin doesn’t show it. She matches his fervor with equal force, soft lips parting to let their tongues explore each other’s mouths a little too thoroughly for public consumption.
“Now everyone knows how Aelin got pregnant,” Dorian snorts quietly behind him, and Aelin smiles and laughs into Rowan’s mouth.
Seeing his opportunity, Dorian interrupts them before they can go in for another kiss. “I now pronounce you husband and wife!”
Rowan lifts Aelin, scooping her from under her knees, and cradles her against his chest as he bounds off the platform.
“Where are you going?” Dorian yells as Aelin squeals loudly. But Rowan doesn’t care.
He finds the pole he was looking for immediately. Below the pier. Where he first kissed Aelin. He wants to kiss her there as his wife for the first time.
“Rowan!” she gasps as he presses her against the wooden beam, his mouth finding hers quickly. He can feel her soft fingers in his hair, tugging him against her, reciprocating his kiss, making his pulse race just like that very first time.
He pulls away panting, and rests his forehead against hers.
“I love you so much,” she whispers. “But if you ruin my dress before we get a picture together, I’ll murder you.”
Rowan laughs and lets her down, and they both kick off their shoes and sink their toes into the sand. He finally lets his eyes trail down her body, taking in her flowing white dress and grins.
“I’m going to be honest, I just looked at the dress for the first time.”
She smacks his shoulder, and he recoils, grabbing her hand and bringing it to his lips. “You’re perfect.”
She tilts her head to the side, letting her loose waves fall over her shoulder. “You’re a sap.”
“A sap you love,” he retorts quickly.
“Gods help us,” Aelin laughs, reaching up to kiss him again. But Rowan has other thoughts in mind. He trails his lips down her neck to her chest, loving the way the neckline of her dress emphasizes it.
“Oy!” Dorian cackles, “Let’s keep it PG. There’s people who want to eat dinner soon.”
Rowan flicks him off. “We’ll meet you there.”
But Aelin grabs his hand and pulls him to follow Dorian.
Their small reception is only a ten minute walk away in the Ashryvers’ back patio. Aelin made the playlist herself, and they covered the pool with a temporary dance floor. Emrys made the dinner – no mayo in anything and sparkling cider to last well into the night.
Rowan walks hand in hand with his bride across the sand, walking the familiar stretch from Playland to the Ashryver Estate. Only this time, everything is different. Nothing is a secret. And they both belong in a world of their own creation – one they’re going to start getting ready to bring a life into.
~*~
“What are you thinking?” Aelin says from her perch on his lap, well into the evening. She runs her fingers through his hair, now disheveled from hours of dancing and too many sips of champagne.
“I’m thinking that I can’t wait until next summer,” Rowan says, cracking a smile at Aelin. She rubs her thumb against his cheek and presses her lips to his.
“The last two summers weren’t crazy enough for you?” she asks. “You want to know what it’s going to be like with an infant in the mix?”
Rowan pales. “Oh my god, Aelin, we’re going to have a baby.”
“Did you forget?” she says, holding back a laugh.
He shakes his head. “No. I just…” He pauses. “What are we going to do with a baby at Playland?”
Aelin laughs, leaning her tired head against his shoulder. “Well, we’ll obviously take them on the Firecoaster, first and foremost. Then the High Flyer. Oh, and the Bumper Cars.”
Rowan can feel his lips turning down into a frown as he imagines his child on the dangerous rides.
“Rowan, I’m kidding,” she assures him, and he squeezes her side, causing her to let out a sharp cackle. “We’ll figure it out,” she finally says quietly. “We always do.”
She tightens her hand around his, and the pair sit together, wrapped up in each other, long after their party has ended and their friends have gone home, telling each other stories of summers to come and memories yet to be made.

I have loved writing this fic so much, and I don’t truly want to say goodbye. Which is why if you ever want a futuretake with these two, I will be more than happy to take prompts. ALSO, in case you hadn’t seen, I started a new Rowaelin fic called I Don’t Want To Wait (linked the masterlist).
Per usual, if you’d like to be added to my TOG taglist, please message me HERE.

VII: Neutral Route (Y/N)
Where Futures Begin
Life used to be simple for you. Peaceful. But the Savior had other plans for you, and in moments, she ruined what you thought was your one shot at happiness. Blinded by anger, you escaped the Mint Eye, but that triggered a series of events that would bring you further into the world of brothers Saeran and Saeyoung. And further into the twisted world of your love for them.

MASTERLIST
One would think that a person working in the Security Room would know precisely how to infiltrate its alarms and defenses.
You cursed at yourself, wondering why you hadn't thought to create some kind of back door that you could activate, like a god mode that would give you full control over the Mint Eye. Such a thing was definitely possible, yet in your emotional rush to never see Saeran again, you hadn't thought of your plan going awry as it had.
Even if Seven and Mary hadn't been here, my escape still would have been impossible, you thought to yourself, aggravated that you hadn't realized earlier that six stories was not a jumpable distance.
Close...so close, you thought to yourself, fingers flying across Seven's keyboard like birds landing on a cold lake. You were able to find the timer, just not a method to lengthen or pause it. Shit, shit, shit, they have less than a minute left.
You held back tears and worked faster, not even sure of what commands you were inputting but desperately aware that you were trying something.
10...
You tried to run your code, desperately hoping that it would be able to exploit the one weakness you knew existed in the Mint Eye's software security.
8...
There was an error in the code. Your eyes scanned the text, looking to see if you had missed a semicolon or to close a parenthesis.
5...
You began to pray that you had made a mistake writing the original program, that when the timer ran out, no alarm would ring, that some god above would magically whisk you out of the situation you were in.
2...
You stared at the screen helplessly, out of options, out of ideas.
1.
Timer complete.
The alarms began blaring at an agonizing volume, temporarily impeding your ability to think.
You heard the Savior speak over the loudspeakers, her prerecorded voice calm as she instructed believers and disciples alike to please remain calm and to not leave their respective rooms, and that no, this was not a drill.
You let out an angry cry of frustration, irritated at your shortcomings.
When you got out of this, you'd make sure you were a better hacker, that you could break your way into any system well within the time limit. When you escaped, you were going to...
When I escape? You thought to yourself, scoffing. How the hell am I going to escape now?
There was nothing you could do anymore. Nothing.
Except...
It was a stupid idea, but it was the best idea you had. Better yet, you were already in the system, so you knew exactly how to execute the command.
You glanced down at Seven's computer and saw a small speaker built into the bottom. The audio would be poor, but it would work.
You fiddled with the keyboard for a few moments longer, trying to ignore the blaring alarms that were making this entire process more aggravating. Then, after a moment of hesitation, you hit the record button.
"Believers and disciples of the Mint Eye, this is council member (Y/N) with an urgent message," You said, keenly aware of how you sounded as your voice echoed back to you through the loudspeaker where the Savior's voice had once played.
"There are two intruders in the Mint Eye, dressed in full-black attire. They likely have stolen robes and are dressed as believers, among yourselves. They were last seen heading from the dining hall to the Savior's chambers. Their intentions are to kidnap our Savior and destroy the magenta we have worked hard to build."
You took a breath, trying to figure out what to say to best rile up the believers, "If you are in an open-access hallway, please head for the first floor and prepare to apprehend the fugitives. Thank you. The alarm will continue until the intruders have been captured."
You closed the program, and let out a shaky sigh, petrified for the sake of Seven and Mary.
Your lies should be enough to rid them of all the stranglers wandering around on the sixth floor; no believer would waste an opportunity to protect their precious Savior. Everyone would be rushing down to the first floor...and by confessing that the two had 'likely' stolen believers' robes, the believers would drive themselves mad with suspicion.
It wouldn't be long before the believers on the sixth floor overrode the locks on the doors themselves.
You closed your eyes and hoped that Seven and Mary would be smart enough to wait until then.
And, strangely enough, you found yourself wishing for Saeran.
Saeran...
He would know that been scheming to escape.
If you hadn't made that announcement, he might have thought that the infiltrators kidnapped you or something, that you hadn't willingly left after promising him you wouldn't.
Then again, those promises were made eons ago, when he was a different person.
A kinder person.
A more loving person.
Saeran thought you had a cold. He'd noticed that your nose had been red and that you'd been sniffling all day, but not for a moment did he consider that you might have been crying.
"Come on, princess, you have to drink soup if you want to feel better," Saeran murmured, pressing the spoon against your closed lips.
"Soup isn't what will make me feel better," You grumbled, grudgingly accepting the hot liquid.
"Hmm? This is what the Savior did for me when I was sick, though, and it helped," Saeran said, scooping up another spoon of soup.
You shook your head. "Saeran, I'm not sick."
The white-haired boy didn't respond, thinking you were lying or that you didn't like the taste of the soup he was feeding you. He pushed your head back down into the pillow you were resting on and dabbed a napkin at the corner of your lip where he had poured a bit too much soup in too little time.
"Saeran, I mean it."
The boy hummed in response, pushing another spoonful of soup to your lips.
"Saera-mmf!"
The stubborn albino shoved the spoon into your mouth mid-sentence, impressively devoted to forcing you to finish the liquid.
"Saeran, I wasn't sniffling earlier," You rolled your eyes and brought a hand up to his, pushing his spoon away from you, "I was crying, okay?"
Finally, Saeran stopped and put the soup down on the floor, and then he was on your bed, pulling you into his lap as he showered you with "Why?" and "What's wrong?" He turned your face toward his so that you couldn't look away and stroked your hair, confused at how you could have been crying when you seemed so happy.
"It's just..." You felt your throat blocking up as you remembered the dark thoughts that had caused you to cry in the first place, "This can't last, can it?"
Saeran cocked his head to the side, as he always did.
"What can't? The soup?"
You let out a light giggle, Saeran's antics never failing to make you smile. "This. Us. The Mint Eye. Being happy."
Saeran sighed when he realized what you were asking.
Too long, you had been miserable. Abused as a child and then brought to an orphanage that you never felt safe in. Life had been nothing but a series of curveballs where happiness was like a home run: brief and rare.
"No," He whispered, stroking your hair, "You and I are forever. We'll always be happy together. For as long as we're in the Mint Eye."
You smiled sadly. Happiness never lasted. You knew that.
But Saeran believed. He was relentless. He spent that whole night convincing you of what a fantastic place the Mint Eye was, and how as long as you and he stayed there, the magenta would keep you happy forever.
That was the first night you two spent together.
It was, without a doubt, one of the happiest nights of your life, and you didn't cry again for a long time afterward.
The second night you two spent together was half a month ago, restless and foreboding as whatever friendship you two shared was crushed later that very day.
Happiness is forever, eh, Saeran? You scoffed. Happiness is a lie. The only variable is how long you can keep lying to yourself.
You stared at the door in front of you, shutting the laptop Seven gave you.
You'd done everything you could from where you stood. Everything else was up to him and Mary. And MC, you added as an afterthought. Because to you, that's all she was. An afterthought.
You began counting the seconds as they passed by.
It wound up being three-hundred and eighty-four seconds before you stopped.
Footsteps outside the door, you realized. Multiple pairs. They were trying to be quiet, but after being abused as a child, your ears had grown used to listening for any indication of something headed your way. Especially if that 'something' could cause you pain.
You slowly shifted to a standing position so that, whoever came in, be it a disciple or Saeran or the Savior herself, you wouldn't go down without a fight.
But the amount of relief you felt at seeing the familiar blob of red as the cautiously opened the door was unlike any comfort you'd ever felt before. At that moment, you could have hugged Seven as he glared daggers at you in a familiar way that you couldn't quite place.
"(Y/N), is it?" Mary asked, looking you up and down, "Good work on the announcement. The believers were in chaos, suspecting each other and practically rioting over getting out of the room we wound up locked in."
You nodded your head, not quite expecting the compliment, and handed Seven's laptop over to him.
He didn't bother acknowledging you and simply set to dropping a ladder down from the window. "We'll go down the ladder in order of importance." He looped one end of the rope around the windowsill, and you winced; it didn't look very stable. "First MC, then me," he looped the other side of the rope ladder around his knot and took a step back, "Then the maid, then you."
You ignored his blatant insult, that you were the least important of the group, and nodded your head. MC was hesitant about traveling down the rope ladder, asking Seven a million questions about what you were doing there and why she had to go first when the rope ladder looked so unsteady. After Mary threatened to push her out of the window, though, she complied and began climbing down.
When it got to your turn to climb down, you tried not to think about the fact that if Mary looked up, he'd see that under your robe you were still wearing your magenta dress which, when looked at from the bottom, gave him a too-perfect view of your underwear.
Still, you didn't want to be like MC, so you didn't complain.
The climb was treacherously long, your heart beating a mile a minute with every step you took. As soon as MC hit the bottom, she began calling for the rest of you to hurry up, her shrill voice disturbingly loud in the quiet night.
You, Mary, and Seven all knew that if she kept yelling, someone would hear.
"Shut up!" Seven hissed, trying to keep his voice low. "You're going to get us caught!"
"Me? I'm not the one going at the speed of a snail! You need to-"
The rest of her voice was muffled when you heard Seven drop from the ladder and start berating her for compromising the mission. Amused, you glanced downward to observe the spectacle and only then realized just how high up you were.
Mary motioned to do the same, his sharp jerk downward shaking the ladder.
With the sudden dizziness you felt at realizing how high you were coupled by Mary's jerk of the ladder, you felt your fingers lose their grip. In your haste to rework your fingers onto the ladder, you barely noticed your feet slipping off their base, and without even realizing what was happening, you found yourself falling.
Mary tried to grip your wrist, but he was too late, his fingers holding you by your arm for a millisecond before gravity pulled you down onto the hard, unforgiving ground.

Chapter 13: Peter “Whipped” Parker (Spider-boy - Peter Parker x Stark!Reader)
Apologies for the late update! Just wanted to make a really long chapter and was finally able to write one, yay!
Also, I’ve been mourning for the whole Sony-MCU thing so it kind of took me a few days to recover.... Sadness Everdeen :((((
Enjoy! Xx
Prologue, Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3, Chapter 4, Chapter 5, Chapter 6, Chapter 7, Chapter 8, Chapter 9, Chapter 10, Chapter 11, Chapter 12
Monday:
“Great job today, Peter.” Mr. Harrington, the Academic Decathlon and Science Club coach & mentor pats Peter on the back the second they walk out the classroom.
Peter just nods weakly. He’s been feeling more drained than ever. It’s been 3 weeks since his trip to Madrid with the Starks and he hasn’t seen his girlfriend in person since they arrived. Mainly because of Tony Stark grounding Y/n for all the PDA action they did in Madrid.
“So I was thinking, maybe you want to help me finish my lego Millennium Falcon set. It has over 7500 pieces.” Ned suggests as the two of them begin to walk along the hallway.
“I’m kinda not in the mood to build legos right now, Ned.” Peter sighs.
“You’ve had the same look on your face for the past 2 weeks, Parker.” MJ who’s standing right behind him, says with a straight face.
“Sorry about that, I’ve been having trouble with uh, personal stuff.” Peter rubs the back of his head.
“Did Y/n break up with you?” Ned asks.
“No! Nothing like that.” Peter clarifies.
“Did she dump you for a taller, cuter guy with a trust fund?” Mj chimes in.
“No, she’s still my girlfriend! I just… I haven’t seen her in almost 3 weeks that’s all.” Peter replies.
“You make it sound like you didn’t have a life before her.” MJ scoffs.
“I did. I just….. It’s my first real relationship, you know? I don’t know how the whole boyfriend-girlfriend thing works.” Peter reasons out.
“Did I hear it right? Penis Parker just said that he has a girlfriend?” Flash runs across Peter and sticks his middle finger out.
They walk out the school door but Ned halts to a stop all of the sudden.
“I also don’t know how relationships work but is the girl designated to visit the boyfriend after school on a Monday?” Ned looks at Peter skeptically.
Peter just furrows his eyebrows at him. Ned points to Y/n who is standing beside a black Audi A8.
You wave at Peter with a huge smile on your face.
“I have to go?” Peter looks at his friends before running towards Y/n.
“What are you doing here?” Peter asks you, slightly panting from the short run.
“I came here to surprise you!” She giggles.
“Best surprise ever.” Peter grins at you and pulls you in for a kiss.
Tony isn’t known for being a strict dad, but seeing Peter and Y/n together triggered him to go full on-Dad mode. He grounded Y/n for 3 weeks, locked the windows in Y/n’s room, and only allowed texts and phone calls as a means of communication between the two teenagers. It’s been difficult, but it makes a moment like this, sweeter and more exciting.
Peter wraps his arms around you, pushing you slightly against your car, attacking you with his kisses. His tongue makes his way to your mouth as the two of you kiss as if… well, as if, you haven’t kissed one another for three weeks. You pull your head away as Peter kisses your jaw and your neck.
“Peter, your friends are looking.” You hold your boyfriend by the biceps.
“Let them. I haven’t seen you in three weeks. I need some Y/n Stark loving.” Peter whispers in your ear before kissing you on the lips again.
“You are so cheesy. We have all the time in the world, Peter Parker.” You pull him away from you.
“Let me go say hi to Ned.” You tell him.
“Yeah, I’ll come with.” He grabs your hand and entwines your fingers together.
“Hi, Ned! Haven’t seen you in a while.” You reach out to hug Ned but Peter won’t let go of your hand.
You look at your boyfriend weirdly but he just gives you a sweet smile.
“Side hug would do.” Ned hugs you with one arm.
“You must be the girlfriend.” A brunette-haired girl smiles at you weakly.
“You must be the famous MJ Peter’s been talking about. Nice to finally meet you, I’m Y/n.” You put your free hand out for her to shake.
You shake hands for a brief second before Peter could pull you in his embrace.
“Peter, you need to calm down.” You kiss him on the cheek.
“I can’t help it.” He smiles down at you, kissing your nose lightly.
“How’d you get here without Happy anyway?” Peter inquires.
You show him your driver’s license attached behind your phone.
“I got it last week. Dad is in Berlin on a business trip with Pepper and Happy, and I have the rest of the week free to spend with you…. Well, after class that is… unless you don’t want to, that’s coo-” Peter shuts you up with a soft kiss.
“Look who’s rambling now.” He chuckles, wrinkling his nose at you.
“Oh shut up. You sound like that in every phone call we’ve had for the past 3 weeks.” You stick your tongue out at him.
“Are they always like this?” MJ asks Ned.
“I don’t know. I haven’t seen Peter like this since….. since never.” Ned replies.
“Remind me never to date anyone from Manhattan island.” Mj tells Ned.
“Where do you plan on taking me?” Peter puts one hand behind your head, playing with your hair, the other on your waist.
“Wherever you want to go. I should give your friends a ride home too. I don’t want to be rude.” You tell him.
“Yeah sure.” Peter nods in agreement.
“Hey guys, Y/n wants to offer you both a ride home.” Peter tells his friends.
“Yeah, why not?” Mj shrugs her shoulders.
“I get to ride in Y/n Stark’s car?!” Ned fanboys.
“Yeah, the car’s open, just hop on in.” You smile at Peter’s friends as the two of them rush inside your car.
You move slightly, signaling Peter to let go, instead, he pulls you in further into his arms, crushing you in his embrace.
“Peter, we’re gonna have to move eventually.” You hug him around his waist.
“I know, I just missed you so much.” Peter sighs.
“Me too.” You whisper.
“Sup Penis Parker, is that the imaginary girlfriend?” A car roars into the background as Flash passes by with his fully-repaired sports car.
You pull away from Peter just in time for Flash to see your face.
“Ah-what?!” Flash furrows his eyebrows.
Peter just shrugs his shoulders before pulling you in for a hug.
“God I miss annoying him.” Peter chuckles.
“Want to go back to my place?” Peter suggests.
“Is that code for make-out?” You raise your eyebrows at him.
“Maybe.” Peter plays with the ends of your hair.
“Alright. Let’s go bring your friends home.” You kiss your boyfriend on the cheek one last time before finally sliding in the driver’s seat.
“May?!” Peter calls out to his aunt the second he opens the door to their apartment.
“Looks like she’s not home.” You tell your boyfriend.
“Hmm, what should we do to kill some time then?” Peter smirks at you before pulling you to his room.
“I don’t know, maybe build some Star Wars lego set?” You joke.
Peter just rolls his eyes before pulling you in his embrace, locking his bedroom door in the process.
“Let’s make ourselves comfortable.” He whispers in your ear as the two of you land on his bed.
He moves on top of you, your legs wrapped around his hips.
“Can’t believe it’s been three weeks since I got to kiss you.” Peter licks the nape of your neck, sucking and nibbling all around until he finds your weak spot, the area below your ear.
“If you’re not careful, you might leave a mark.” You remind him.
“Good, now everyone will know you have a boyfriend.” Peter chuckles lightly before attaching his lips with yours.
“Mhm, my dad won’t be as happy when he sees it.” You laugh.
“Can we not talk about your dad while we’re making out?” Peter suggests.
“Sorry…. My turn.” You hold him by the head and motion your legs to move sideways as you shift right on top of him.
“Where’d you learn that move?” Peter gasps.
“Nat may have taught me a few moves while my dad wasn’t around.” You wink at him before dipping your head to his neck.
You kiss his neck gently before nibbling and biting on the area near his jaw. Your hands holding his head as his fingers stroke your back.
“I’m not the only one who has to walk out of here without a mark.” You giggle, moving back to kiss him on the lips again.
“I won’t be ashamed to have your mark on me.” Peter replies.
“Hmmm, we should make-out more often then.” You bite the top of his ear.
“That would be a definite yes.” Peter growls.
“Peter! Are you home?” A voice interrupts the two of you.
“Shit.” You remove yourself from Peter as he covers his lap with a pillow.
“You alright there?” You look down at Peter’s situation.
“Help me think of something that might turn it off.” Peter pleads with you.
“Peter!! Are you in here?” May knocks on the bedroom door.
“Think of Happy doing a kissy face or something, I don’t know.” You whisper-yell.
Peter breathes in and out deeply.
“That helped, thanks.” Peter laughs.
“Yup! I’m home, May.” Peter replies.
“Come on, let’s go see what she wants.” Peter grumbles before opening the door.
“Oh! Y/n, you’re here? I thought you were grounded?” May inquires.
“My dad is out of town and I have my driver’s license now.” You answer.
“Oh! Well then, I bought a can of cookies if you guys are hungry. By the way, you might want to cover that.” May points at the fresh hickey you gave Peter in the middle of his neck.
You snort out a laugh but Peter just gives you a cold-hard glare.
Tuesday:
“Everyone take 5! After this let’s take up balancing chemical equations. If you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna go call my wife and beg for forgiveness.” Mr. Harrington announces before walking out of the chemistry lab.
“I see you and your girlfriend don’t waste time when you’re together.” Mj stares at Peter blankly.
“What?” Peter furrows his eyebrows at her, closing his notebook in the process.
“The big mark on your neck that’s been sticking out like a sore thumb… Yeah, it’s noticeable.” Mj clarifies.
“Oh…” Peter tries to lift the collar of his top to try and cover the mark Y/n left.
“No way! Penis Parker has a hickey!” Flash announces and the everyone in the room stops what they’re doing to look at Peter.
“It’s a spider bite.” Peter lies.
Ned snorts lightly and Peter just glares at him. A knock on the door interrupts everyone’s attention on Peter. The door opens to reveal Y/n holding a box of cookies.
“Oh hi. Sorry to barge in, I just want to drop these off for Peter.” You smile at the students who are gaping at you in bewilderment.
“Don’t mind me. Carry on.” You add, stepping inside and walk towards your boyfriend’s table.
“Hi there.” You grin at Peter and put the box of cookies in front of him.
“Hey…. What are you doing here? I won’t be out for another 20 minutes.” Peter tells you.
“Well, I wanted you to try Helena’s world-famous cookies. Better than the cookies May bought you.” You tell him.
“You came all the way from Manhattan to deliver cookies?” Mj asks you.
“Well that, and I wanted to see my boyfriend.” You reply.
“You guys are sickening.” Mj grumbles before moving to the chair beside Ned.
“Thanks for this.” Peter smiles at you, looks around and notices that nobody is paying attention to the two of you.
He motions for you to sit beside him and you giggle before moving to the seat Mj left available. Peter leans in to kiss you lightly.
“And to think, you complained that I was making you fat with a churro.” Peter laughs, opening the box to eat a cookie.
“Yeah but I was already full and we don’t want to waste food.” You defend.
“These are so good! How have I only tasted these cookies just now? I’ve known Helena the same time I’ve known you.” Peter looks at the cookies like they’re gifts from up above.
“Cookies never really came up in our discussions. Plus, you don’t get to be the only sweet one in this relationship.” You giggle, kissing him on the cheek.
“I may have to keep you around just so I could have more of these cookies in the future.” Peter takes a few more cookies from the box and eats them in large bites.
“I’ll let it slide because you’re hungry, but I will remember that comment later so we could argue about it.” You sneer jokingly at him.
“Oh come on? I was joking. You’re the best.” Peter smiles innocently at you.
“Okay! Let’s start with Chemistry, can anybody- oh.” Mr. Harrington walks in and notices you sticking out like a sore thumb beside Peter.
“May we help you Miss?” He looks at you with widened eyes.
“Stark…. And carry on. I was just about to leave.” You reply, standing up from your seat.
“Oh wow… You’re Tony Stark’s daughter….. Your mom has been a crush of mine since the ’90s, I followed her around Columbia for years…. Of course, I didn’t go there, I just wanted to see her face… Cool alright! Balancing chemical equations! Let’s begin.” He claps his hand and tries to look away from you.
“I’ll go wait in my car.” You whisper in Peter’s ear before walking out of the lab.
You and Peter stop by Delmar’s to buy sandwiches before heading to Peter’s apartment.
“So this is the famous Delmar’s you’ve been telling me about?” Y/n looks around the quaint deli-grocery store.
“Yeah, come on, there’s someone I want to introduce you to.” He grabs your hand and pulls you to the cashier.
Hey, Mr. Delmar!” Peter greets a middle-aged Latino.
“Hey, Peter Parker! Haven’t seen you in two weeks. What? Did you find a new sandwich place?” Mr. Delmar asks.
“No, I just uh, I didn’t feel like eating sandwiches that’s all. Anyway, this is Y/n Stark. Y/n, this is Mr. Delmar, the owner of the exquisite store.” Peter points around the place.
“Whoa, you’re Tony Stark’s daughter? Wow! I’m a fan.” Mr. Delmar shakes your hand and you can’t help but laugh.
“Yeah. It’s no big deal. He’s okay.” You retort.
“So are you two dating, is that why you introduced me to her?” Mr. Delmar questions.
Peter is dumbfounded and just nods.
“Y-yeah. Y/n is my girlfriend.”
“He’s uh, my boyfriend.”
The two of you reply in unison and just look at one another, flustered.
Mr. Delmar just looks at the two of you in amusement.
“What will it be, Pete?” Mr. Delmar asks.
“Two hotdogs with no condiments.” Peter takes out his wallet to pay for the sandwiches.
“Ba-Peter, it’s fine I can pay for my own sandwich.” You tell him.
“I know.” Peter just smiles at you but still hands his money to Mr. Delmar.
Within a few seconds, Mr. Delmar hands Peter the hot-dogs.
“Take care, you two. Tell May I said hi.” Mr. Delmar states.
“I’ll try.” Peter retorts before opening the door for you.
“You didn’t have to pay for both of our hotdogs. I could’ve paid for mine.” You take the sandwich from his hand as the two of you begin to walk.
“I know, but you’re my girlfriend and I want to feed you and spoil you because I can.” Peter smiles at you.
“You’re awfully sweet, Peter Parker.” You sigh, smiling back up at him.
“That’s what I’m known for.” Peter shrugs before stopping to look around.
“What?” You also stop and look around the area.
“Nothing. Can you hold my sandwich? I need to do something.” Peter hands you his hotdog before grabbing you by the waist.
“Oh my god, Peter no!” You squeal in protest but he’s already hoisting the two of you up.
“Don’t drop our hotdogs.” Peter reminds you, holding you by the waist as he lifts you to the top of their apartment building.
“Don’t drop me.” You retort.
The two of you sit on the edge of the building and you give him his sandwich.
“I’m starting to love your afternoon visits by the way. I think you should stop by more often.” Peter smiles at you.
“Yeah sure, I’ll have my dad drop me off every afternoon because he is that supportive.” You respond.
Peter just rolls his eyes and nudges you slightly.
“So, do you still want me around or do I have to bring you cookies so I can hang out with you?” You start, raising your eyebrows at him.
“Oh come on, I was joking. You know I like having you around.” Peter pulls you closer to him and you lean against his shoulder.
You both eat in silence and look at the mundane sight of Queens.
“By the way, something just came in this morning.” You take the invitation out from your jacket pocket.
“What is it?” You hand Peter the invitation to Le Bal des Débutantes.
“I was invited to become one of the debutantes and I want you to be my partner.” You purse your lips, not exactly sure of Peter’s reaction.
“Wow, I uh-I’m honored but, I don’t… I don’t think I can uh…” Peter looks at you, ready to reject the invitation but remembers Tony’s threat about breaking your heart.
“I don’t know how to dance the waltz.” Peter chuckles nervously.
“That can be arranged! We have a meeting with the organizers at my place on Saturday. We’ll have our fitting done there as well, courtesy of Dior. My dad will be the one escorting us to Paris for the event and of course, ask for May’s approval if she’ll allow you to be my partner.” You explain.
Peter feels his head spinning all of a sudden. This is what he’s always been scared of, the overwhelming contrast of both your lives. It’s always been a huge factor for him, but you’ve never really cared for the whole thing. You just want Peter.
“I’m sorry, I’m overwhelming you again, aren’t I?” You look down at your hands.
“What? Hey no! I’m fine. I just need to get used to the fact that I’m dating a Stark. You know, I’m falling for you right?” Peter inquires, taking your hand in his.
You gasp slightly and look up at him.
“You are?” You whisper.
“Yeah…..” Peter mutters.
“The feeling is totally mutual.” You wrap your arms around his neck and pull him to your embrace.
Wednesday:
“Peter, it’s been 40 minutes, she might not be able to visit you today.” Ned sits beside Peter as the two of them sit on one of the benches in front of Midtown Tech.
“I know but last night, she told me she’ll see me tomorrow. Which I took as a hint that she’s coming here.” Peter replies.
“Or maybe she’s expecting you to come to her in Manhattan?” Ned suggests.
Peter looks at him, dumbfounded.
“That makes sense.” Peter nods his head.
“Alright. I’m gonna go stop by my place, drop my backpack off, and swing to Manhattan.” Peter stands up and fixes his hair.
“You’re just gonna swing around Manhattan as Peter Parker?” Ned questions.
“No, of course not. My suit’s at home. I’m just gonna surprise her at her place.” Peter puts on his backpack.
“Not if I surprise you first.” A voice behind him startles him completely.
“Oh, crap.” Peter jumps slightly and sees you smiling up at him.
“What? Did your spider-senses not work on me?” You laugh, wrapping your hands around his neck to give him a kiss on the lips.
“Well, you’re not so much of a threat considering that you’re my girlfriend,” Peter smirks down at you and hugs you tightly by the waist.
“I’m flattered.” You giggle before pulling away to say hello to Ned.
“Hey, Ned! What’s with the lego box?” You point to his Star Wars Millennium Falcon set.
“Peter and I were gonna build this today but he told me you guys already had plans for the entire week. So, it’s nothing.” Ned replies.
“What? Peter ditched you for me? You’re hanging out with us today. I can help you with your lego set.” You sit beside him.
“You will? I didn’t peg you as someone who plays with lego.” Ned looks at you inquisitively.
“I’m not. I was more of a Polly Pocket kind of girl, but my brother was addicted to lego and he let me build stuff with him. Come on, let’s go to Peter’s place and we can play then.” You stand up and hold your boyfriend’s hand.
Peter smiles down at you in amusement.
“What?” You ask him.
“Nothing, you’re just very cute.” He shrugs his shoulders before kissing you on the nose.
You roll your eyes before motioning them to follow you to your car.
“So, are you going to tell me why you’re late today?” Peter asks the second he slides inside your car.
“I was only like 40 minutes late.” You reason out.
“Yeah, but you were 30 minutes early yesterday.” Peter clarifies.
“Well, I didn’t have a Model UN meeting yesterday. Why are you so freaked out?” You question, turning the car engine on.
“I’m not, I just thought you expected me to swing by your apartment instead of coming here.” Peter replies.
“If we stay at our place, F.R.I.D.A.Y. will alert my dad that you’re in our apartment. He installed the AI in our elevator and foyer. It’s better that I come to you.” You state.
“Oh. I didn’t know that. Is that a new update?” Peter asks.
“He had it installed the day we arrived from Madrid. You know, me being grounded and all. He’s been so unreasonable lately” You grumble.
“I just think Mr. Stark doesn’t know how to deal with her teenage daughter having a boyfriend.” Peter defends your dad.
“I get that you worship the ground my dad walks on, but you have got to stop defending him. He’s just being overbearing.” You drive away from Midtown.
“I’m not defending him, I just don’t think he’s used to you being in a relationship.” Peter responds.
“You say it like I was the biggest relationship virgin before I met you.” You scoff.
“It’s not like you didn’t act all innocent when we met.” Peter argues.
“I could say the same thing to you! Happy told me you rented an adult film at the hotel in Germany.” You look at him with a scowl on your face while driving.
“Wh-What are we even fighting about?” Peter questions.
“I don’t know!” You grip tighter on the steering wheel.
“Oh! That must be our pizza.” Y/n stands up from the floor and runs to the door.
“So….” Ned mumbles, looking at Peter questioningly.
“What?” Peter furrows his eyebrows.
“Are you guys going to continue not talking to each other while building lego? Don’t you want to go say sorry to her?” Ned asks.
“Why should I apologize? I didn’t do anything wrong.” Peter shrugs his shoulders, grabbing a lego block.
“Peter, for someone who’s in a committed relationship, you sure are clueless when it comes to the female brain.” Ned retorts.
“Ned, all I’m saying is, she’s just being overdramatic when it comes to her dad. I was just defending him because he wasn’t there to defend himself.” Peter responds.
“Spoken like a real hero. Dude, just tell her you’re sorry. We both know she’s not going to budge.” Ned advises him.
“What should I say?” Peter panics.
“Tell her you understand how she feels and that you’re sorry you blamed her for overreacting and that she has every right to feel the way she’s feeling.” Ned answers.
“Okay okay.” Peter mumbles.
“What’s taking her so long, anyway? I should go check on her.” Peter stands up and heads to the door.
Peter walks to the door and sees the pizza delivery guy flirting with Y/n.
“I swear you look so familiar…. I think I’ve seen you in magazines before.” The pizza delivery boy smiles at you.
“Um, you got the wrong girl. Now, how much are the boxes in total?” You reach for your wallet.
“They’re free if you give me your number.” The delivery guy smirks at you.
“Wow. Does that work on every girl you’ve delivered pizza to? I don’t need you to pay them for me.” You take out 20 dollars and attempt to grab the two pizza boxes from him.
“I told you, they’re free of charge if you give me a chance.” He moves the boxes away.
“Listen here, buddy…. I carry my taser around with me to avoid men like you. Now give me my pizza or I’ll call your store manager and report you.” You hiss.
He scoffs off your threat.
“Babe, what’s taking so long?” Peter stands beside you and puts his arm around your waist.
“This guy won’t hand me our pizza.” You reply, looking up to your boyfriend, silently thanking him for swooping in.
Peter grabs the pizza boxes from the pizza delivery boy.
“You come near my girlfriend again, and I’m going to kick your ass.” Peter threatens. Peter takes the 20 dollars from your hand and throws it at him before closing the door on his face.
“Thank you.” You smile up at him.
“Who says Iron Man is your only superhero huh?” Peter wraps his free arm around you.
“You’re so good to me.” You sigh and wrap your arms around him.
Ned comes tiptoeing in and grabs the pizza boxes from Peter’s hand.
“I’m sorry I didn’t take your feelings into consideration.” Peter wraps you tighter in his embrace.
“I’m sorry I got mad at you.” You reply.
“You know, that was our first fight as a couple.” Peter looks down at you.
“I don’t like fighting with you. You’re a good man, Peter Parker… You’re so good to me.” You tell him.
“Hmmm.. likewise.” Peter leans down and gives you a light kiss.
“That felt weak, can you do it again?” You raise your eyebrows at him.
“Hmmm, I think you need to beg me first.” Peter teases.
“Okay, I’ll go eat with Ned now.” You attempt to escape from his embrace.
“Okay okay! I’m sorry! Come here!” Peter pulls you to him tightly and kisses you hard.
Your fingers tangle in his hair as the two of you kiss one another passionately. Just as he opens his mouth for your tongue to touch his, he pulls away.
“Come on, Ned might finish the whole thing if we don’t go back there.” Peter takes your hand and pulls you to the living room.
“I’m back to hating you again.” You mumble.
“We can make out when we’re alone.” Peter whispers in your ear.
“Alright. I’ll hold you to it, Parker.” You reply.
“Ned!! 3 slices already?! We were gone for like 3 minutes?” Peter looks at his friend who is about to finish his fourth slice of pizza.
“I told you I was hungry.” Ned shrugs his shoulders, too busy watching Tony Stark’s self-made documentary about himself.
“Even when he’s in Europe, he’s still here.” You grumble, jokingly.
Thursday:
Peter opens his locker and looks at the photos of him and Y/n in Spain as well a photo of him and Ned from Bar Mitzvah they attended 3 years ago.
“So that’s what Peter Parker’s locker looks like.” You stare at Peter’s back, leaning against another locker.
Peter turns around and sees you with a huge smile on your face.
“You have a knack for surprises, Stark.” Peter shakes his head before pulling you in to give you a kiss.
“Please, you love it.” You reply kissing him back.
“Get a room.” Mj passes by briefly and stares at the two of with a blank expression.
“Shall we?” Peter raises his eyebrows, flirtatiously.
“How about…. You walk me around your school?” You suggest.
“Really? There’s nothing much to see here apart from your adorable boyfriend.” Peter raises his head proudly.
“More like a-dork-able… Let’s go sit by the field then. I brought snacks. They’re in my car.” You grab Peter’s hand as the two of you walk towards the school exit.
“Is this your first time to see a high school football practice?” Peter asks as the two of you sit by the stands.
“American football? Yeah. I didn’t realize how large you have to be to play the game.” You stare at the bulky shoulder pads all the football players are wearing.
“I don’t pay attention much to it either. I don’t find the whole tackling thing, fun.” Peter responds.
“Says the guy who fought Captain America and the Vulture.” You raise your eyebrows at your boyfriend before taking a bite of the doughnut you brought.
“That’s Spider-man talk. Peter Parker prefers the company of science nerds and intellectuals…. And his girlfriend.” He puts his free arm around you.
“Wow, I’m touched.” You sigh, jokingly.
Your phone begins to ring and see that that it’s your dad calling you on FaceTime.
“Crap.” You mumble removing Peter’s arm around you.
“He doesn’t know I’ve been visiting you every afternoon for the past week.” You tell Peter before answering your dad’s call.
“Hi, dad!” You greet him and notice that his background is Berlin’s dark skies.
“Hi, sweetie! How’s Peter doing?” He asks.
“Uh, I don’t know. Why are you asking me?” You furrow your eyebrows.
“I know you’ve been going to and fro Queens for the past 3 days, so don’t lie, Y/n Stark.” Tony glares at you through the screen.
“Go easy on her, Tony.” You hear Pepper scold your dad.
“He’s doing okay. See?” You point the camera to Peter who is in the middle of eating a doughnut.
“Hi, Mr. Stark!” Peter greets him with a full mouth.
“Charming.” You scowl at your boyfriend playfully before looking back to your phone screen.
“We’ll be back tomorrow night so you better be home by the time we arrive or you’re grounded again.” Tony threatens.
“I just got out from being grounded.” You protest.
“That’s what you get for not updating Happy where you’ve been for the past week.” Tony replies.
“Wow, all I need now is a long blonde hair and captor named Gothel and I’d the real-life version of Rapunzel.” You mutter.
“Tony, you’re overreacting. Y/n, come straight home after school tomorrow. Peter and his aunt May can come over and have dinner with us. No more driving to Queens for a little while. Just have Peter swing by when it’s okay for your father. Are we good?” Pepper appears on the screen and looks back and forth at me and my dad.
“I’m okay with that.” You shrug your shoulders.
Tony rolls his eyes before agreeing.
“Fine. I guess have no choice. It’s better that I get to be there than to have you two hide and make out behind my back.” Tony grumbles.
“You only walked in on us twice… and they weren’t anything serious.” You reply.
“Still. I made it perfectly clear that you can only do that thing you do for 5 seconds when I’m around….” Tony responds.
“Thing? You mean kiss?” You raise your eyebrows at him, trying to hide your laughter.
You and Peter look at one another, giving each other a tight smile.
“Yeah, whatever. I don’t like seeing it. Anyway, we have to eat. Love you kiddo.” Tony smiles weakly.
“Love you too, Mr. Stark.” Peter replies happily.
“I was talking to my daughter.” Tony mutters.
“Oh right.” Peter awkwardly laughs.
“Love you too, dad.” You giggle lightly.
Tony ends the call and you look at your boyfriend, bemusedly.
“Did you just tell my dad you loved him?” You chuckle.
“What? He’s Tony Stark. If it means I get to hang out with you more often, I might have to tell him that every time I see him.” Peter retorts.
“You’re such a fanboy.” You shake his head before eating again.
“I’m your biggest fanboy.” Peter kisses on the cheek.
You look at your boyfriend and notice doughnut icing near his lips.
“You’re a sloppy eater, Peter Parker.” You laugh, wiping off the icing from his mouth.
“Is May home?” You ask, looking back and forth from Peter’s lips and eyes.
“She is.” Peter answers, mutteringly.
“There’s a parking lot nearby.” Peter suggests.
“Is that another code for make-out?” You play with his curly hair.
“I don’t know, you tell me.” Peter smirks.
“Let’s go then.” You wink at him, grabbing the empty wrappers in one hand, and Peter’s hand in the other.
“Eager, are we?” Peter laughs.
“Only for you.” You purr.
Peter’s eyes widen and he gulps nervously.
‘Is she planning on doing more or something? What if I get too happy too soon? She’s seen how our make outs usually affect me afterward. She might want to do more.’ Peter thinks to himself.
“Are you okay?” You stare at your boyfriend’s blank expression.
“Y-yeah.” Peter stutters.
“Peter, we’ve made out a couple of times now…. What’s eating you?” You question.
“Oh… so we’re just going to make out, great.” Peter lets out a sigh of relief.
“Look, if you don’t want to, that’s fine. I can just go home and watch a movie.” You release his hand.
“No-no. Let’s go make-out.” Peter grabs your hand as the two of you walk across the middle of the football field.
The football players stop what they’re doing and stare at you and Peter… mostly at you, probably knowing that you’re Tony Stark / Iron Man’s daughter.
“Hey, Parker! You’re gonna have to teach me your moves with the ladies.” One guy calls out.
“Me too! How about a date with the Black Widow or something?” Another one chimes in.
“Oh yeah! I hear she’s feisty, that one!” You move your head and glare at the direction of the guy who said it.
“Careful! She might call Captain America on you, dude.” The guy beside him, warns.
“High school boys are such jerks.” You mutter as you and Peter walk across the field at a fast pace.
The two of you reach your car and you let out a huge sigh of relief the second the two of you slide in.
“Baby, are you okay?” Peter asks.
You stare at Peter, dumbfounded.
“What did you just call me?” You raise your eyebrows.
Peter’s eyes widen, the second he realizes what he’s done.
“You just called me baby for the first time.” You whisper.
“Oh… Shoot, I did. I’m sorry, I won’t call you that again if you don’t like it.” Peter looks down before you can even reassure him.
“No, I kinda like it.” You reply.
“You do? Alright then. From now on, you’re now my baby.” Peter smiles at you.
“Can I call you baby as well?” You ask.
Peter just nods before pressing his lips against yours.
Friday:
“I can’t believe I was invited to dinner with the Starks! Do I look okay?” Aunt May asks Peter.
She is wearing a beige, A-line dress while Peter is wearing a white button-down and khaki trousers. The of them enter the private elevator that only opens to the penthouse.
“I love your outfit. This Y/n girl is really prepping you to look like one of them.” Aunt May smiles at Peter.
“When we were in Madrid, she snuck in a few tops and pants in my luggage as if I didn’t notice. I didn’t want to reject them because she might cry and Mr. Stark will kill me. It still feels overwhelming but she’s been really good to me…. And she’s my first official girlfriend which is nice.” Peter shrugs his shoulders.
“Your first girlfriend is Iron Man’s daughter and you’re Spider-man….. This all feels crazy to me.” Aunt May shakes her head.
“Thanks for not ripping my head off when you saw me with the costume, by the way.” Peter laughs.
“I would have, but I know you’re tough. I still get scared every now and then, knowing that you’re Spider-man and you get to fight bad guys, but I know you’re brave enough to fight your own battles.” Aunt May pats Peter on the arm.
The elevator door opens and Peter sees his girlfriend waiting for him nearby in a pale pink dress and kitten heels.
“You’re here! Welcome to our um… humble abode.” You point around to the foyer as Peter and his Aunt May walk in.
“Wow! The place smells and looks very nice.” Aunt May looks around before giving you a hug.
You move towards your boyfriend to give him a kiss but Tony’s timing stops you.
“The Parkers are here! Hi May, Peter!” Tony walks in and shakes May’s hand and puts an arm around Peter’s shoulders.
“You look different today, Spider-boy….” Tony looks at Peter with a curious expression.
“You mean, he looks like he’s all dressed up?” You suggest.
“Hi! You must be the famous Aunt May.” Pepper walks in and gives her a handshake.
“That’s me! I’m sorry we weren’t able to bring anything for dinner.” May tucks her hair behind her ear.
“Oh, non-sense! We’re happy to host. Peter, hello again!” Pepper hugs Peter and she gives you a slight wink.
You just roll your eyes and intertwine your hands with Peter’s.
Pepper stands beside Aunt May as the two of them stare and smile at you and Peter looking at each other with smiles on your faces.
“They grow up so fast, don’t they?” Pepper asks May.
“I can’t believe my little girl is dating before 22. When she was 8 and I tucked her in bed, I asked her to make a promise to never have a boyfriend before graduating college.” Tony explains. “Like you never had girlfriends while you were at MIT.” Pepper rolls her eyes at him.
“Really? Dad never told me about his past girlfriends.” You raise your eyebrows at your father.
“That’s because it’s irrelevant.” Tony replies.
“Dinner is ready.” Helena announces.
Tony signals Aunt May and Pepper to walk ahead. He faces his daughter and Peter.
“Behave.” Tony reminds you before walking away.
“You look very pretty.” Peter smiles down at you.
“And you look so handsome!” You respond, kissing him lightly on the cheek.
Pepper and Tony sit on one side while you, Peter, and May sit on the other. Helena and the rest of the helpers walk in carrying Porchetta, mashed potatoes, and various kinds of sauces.
“Wow! That looks delicious.” May stares at the porchetta.
“It’s one of Tony’s favorites. He only eats this when there’s something important coming up.” Pepper states.
“I didn’t know this dinner was important.” You look at your dad and Pepper.
“Well, this is the first time we’re having dinner with your boyfriend and his aunt. Better this, than tenderloin steak.” Tony replies.
Peter grabs the serving fork and knife and puts a slice of pork on your plate as well as a spoon-full of mashed potatoes.
“You didn’t have to do it for me.” You laugh at your boyfriend’s chivalry.
“I know, but I wanted to do it.” Peter grabs your hand.
Tony lets out a fake cough, staring at the two teenagers.
“So I hear Y/n has been spending her afternoons at your place for the past week?” Tony looks at May who is more lenient when it comes to you and Peter.
“She has! We love having her around! Whenever they’re not doing stuff that teenage couples do, they study or watch a movie. It’s refreshing to see Peter so happy whenever she was around.” May answers.
Tony had the idea to scold the two in front of Pepper and May, but he couldn’t find it in himself to be mad at them after May’s praises.
“I hope she wasn’t much trouble. When she was little, we used to call her the ‘queen of destruction’, everything she touched turns completely to shreds, that includes important files from my office.” Tony states at you with a sly smile on his face.
“Like Peter was any different. He was a curious kid, he drew on the walls, threw boxes around pretending it was Captain America’s shield. Little did I know, he actually turned out to be Spider-man.” May looks at his nephew, adoringly.
Y/n, Tony, and Pepper’s eyes grew large, not knowing that May already knew Peter’s secret.
“I walked in on him when he was having a Spidey moment.” May clarifies.
They all begin to eat and talk about the two teenagers’ most embarrassing moments, it lasted on until dessert.
“So Tony, I hear you graduated summa cum laude at MIT?” May asks, digging into the bowl of vanilla ice cream in front of her.
“I did. I was hoping all three of my children would follow their dad’s footsteps and become a legacy but my first-born is at Dartmouth and this one already has her eyes set on either Princeton or Yale.” Tony points the dessert spoon at you.
“Peter’s been studying hard so he could get a scholarship at Empire State University. It’s been his dream school since we passed by the campus when he was 9.” May puts her hand on Peter’s shoulder proudly.
“You know, I can help you get into MIT. It’s one of the best schools in the country… or you know, you can also take the Stark Industries scholarship.” Tony states.
Pepper looks at him in bewilderment. There was no such thing as Stark Industries scholarship. This was Tony being overly-generous towards Peter…. again. He hates to admit it, but Tony sees Peter as a protege more than just his daughter’s boyfriend. He knew Peter was capable of being the best in his field.
“That would be nice, Mr. Stark, but I’ll be okay.” Peter replies.
You grab Peter’s free hand in yours and smile at him.
“Oh, by the way, did Peter tell you about the ball that we invited Peter to attend?” Tony asks May.
“No, I think he forgot that little detail.” May coughs lightly before looking at Peter.
“Yeah. There’s this debutante ball that my daughter was invited to and she wants Peter to be her escort. I hope that’s okay with you?” Tony inquires.
“Oh how nice! Is this one of those high society debutante ball here in New York?” May questions.
“See now that’s the tricky part. It’s going to be in Paris this November. Of course, you’re also welcome to join us so you could see the whole thing. Y/n will be in a gown, Peter will be sporting a tuxedo, the whole enchilada… yada yada yada…. We really do want Peter to be the one to escort Y/n to her first ball.” Tony chokes up a little, looking at you with a weak smile.
“Wow! Now that’s something….. As long as I get to see Peter off at the event, sure, why not?” May smiles at Tony and Pepper.
“Great. You and Peter come here again tomorrow after lunch for the fitting and preparations.” Pepper replies.
The helpers all come in at the same time to take the dessert bowl away.
“Dad, Peter and I are just going to be in the living room. Is that okay?” You ask your dad who lets out an annoyed expression.
“Fine.” Tony crosses his arms as the two of you leave the dining room.
May’s gaze follows the two teenagers as they walk out hand in hand.
“They’re good kids.” May states.
“They really are.” Pepper smiles.
“Yeah. I just love giving them a hard time.” Tony chuckles.
You and Peter sit on the white couch, facing each other.
“Are you okay? You were kinda quiet back there.” You ask your boyfriend who is looking down on his fingers.
“I’m fine…. I just get anxious when we talk about um….. things such as debutante balls and college.” Peter replies.
“This is what we get for having intrusive family members.” You joke.
“I knew the whole ball preparation will freak you out, considering there are tons of protocols to follow…. But you can always tell me if you’re feeling overwhelmed.” You say, moving closer towards him until both of your noses are pressed against each other’s.
“But do we really have to dance?” Peter groans moving his head against the couch in frustration.
You just roll your eyes at him.
“Yes, we do! That’s the whole point of the ball.” You reply.
Peter sighs before leaning in to give you a light kiss. He tries to pull away knowing that your dad is just a few meters away, but you don’t let him.
“Uh uh, we’re not done.” You mumble against his lips, caressing the back of head, kissing him passionately.
“Okay then.” Peter laughs, his hands moving to your waist, completely pulling you against his chest.
He coaxes your mouth open for his tongue to tangle with yours. You moan slightly, twisting your head a little as the of you continue to make out. He grabs your legs and slides you on his lap and you move a bit to wrap your arms around his shoulders. He moves his head below your ear.
“Is this what you want?” Peter whispers in your ear, biting it lightly before leaving kisses and nibbles on your neck.
“Mhm.” You whisper back, trying to hold back a loud moan.
You hear the faint steps of Pepper and May’s heels and quickly pull yourself away from Peter.
“What the hell?” Peter mumbles as you accidentally hit him in the groin in the process.
You stand up and see your dad, Pepper, and May, still engrossed in a casual discussion.
“What happened to him?” Tony points at Peter whose face is red.
“Oh, he just uh…. Hit himself by accident. It’s been happening a lot lately… he’s fine.” You reassure them.
You look at your boyfriend who looks like is barely recovering.
“Score.” He mumbles.
“Alright then…. Peter, shall we go?” May suggests.
“Yup. I’ll be right up.” Peter grumbles, standing up carefully.
“You okay?” You chuckle, looking at your boyfriend with an amused expression on your face.
“You’re lucky I lo-like you a lot.” Peter retorts.
“Come on, I’ll walk you to the elevator.” He puts an arm around you, as the two of you follow the adults walking ahead.
“Happy, my head of security will be bringing you two home. He’s waiting downstairs.” Tony states.
“Happy’s driving us? Sweet.” Peter laughs.
May walks inside the elevator. Peter takes the short seconds left to kiss you. “I’ll see you tomorrow.” He smiles down at you.
You just nod before giving him another peck. He waves at Peter and Pepper before walking inside the elevator. Just before the elevator door closes, Peter sneakily gives you an air kiss which you pretend to catch.
“Cute.” Pepper smiles at you.
“He is so whipped.” Tony shakes his head as the three of you walk out the foyer.

Game Giveaway, COVID-19 Edition
Hey, everyone! If you’re stuck at home with nothing to do, I’m here to help! The usual rules apply: first come, first served, be nice to each other, don’t be greedy. You'll need to do your own research on the games to make sure your computer is capable of running them. I'm not giving any recommendations because I don't know anything about the vast majority of them, and I don't want to point out the "good ones" so they get snatched up quickly. I will update the list as games are claimed, so every title on the list should still be available, but I'm only human, so I apologize in advance if you request something that's already been taken. Multiple titles on the list mean I have multiple keys for that game. Send me a message with the title you’d like and I’ll send you the key!

Dungeon Team wants your support on Kickstarter

Dungeon Team ASCII f2p turn-based tactics game seeks funding on Kickstarter Linux, Mac, and Windows PC. Wakefield Studios is the reason behind all the retro content in the game. Which is now live via crowdfunding campaign. Dungeon Team is a new game where you explore dungeons, fight monsters, and collect treasures. Very similar to the old game Rogue. But this time, it's a multiplayer game that mixes different types of gameplay. Now crowdfunding and due to raise $10,000 USD by June 7th, 2023. In Dungeon Team, you get to choose from 11 different classes of heroes, each with their own unique abilities. You can create a team of up to 7 heroes and take on a quest to explore dungeons full of monsters and treasures. Along the way, you'll also fight intense creatures using your skillset to defeat them.
The game engine is 100% proprietary, as well the skeletal animation system, effects & particle systems, etc. For Steam we built native Windows / Mac / Linux executables with Electron. Essentially a wrapper for web view pointing to dungonteam.com.
According to the developer's email reply, Dungeon Team is a browser technology. So the game is like a big bundle of code written in Javascript. It's completely free to play (dungeonteam.com) and anyone can join the open beta. However, most people might not even remember they're playing a Linux game in a web page. Which is actually very well done.
Dungeon Team - Kickstarter Trailer

Dungeon Team offers different modes. Including a PvP mode where you fight against other players in real-time battles. You can also fight in idle PvP battles, where your heroes fight automatically. Or async auto-battles in the PvP arena in teams of 1, 2, 3, 5 or 7 heroes. Maybe even explore dungeons in idle PvE fights, where your heroes fight without you having to do anything. And if you just want to relax, you can visit the Temple and offer sacrifices to the gods to earn their blessings. Dungeon Team also offers up unique ASCII art. Since this gives the game a true retro feel, like the old games from the 80s. But even though the graphics are old school, the gameplay is modern and deep. While offering mix and match skill trees that let you customize your heroes and make them even more powerful. Wakefield Studios, the team behind Dungeon Team, is gearing up to release a brand new version of the game on Steam. They're using Kickstarter to help fund the project, and they're asking Linux gamers to help shape the game by pledging the campaign. Due to offer players a part in making the game even better before releasing later this year. So, if you're looking for a fun and challenging multiplayer game with retro graphics and modern gameplay, Dungeon Team ASCII f2p turn-based tactics game. You can back the Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign. Coming to Linux, Mac, and Windows PC later this year.

Erased Pt. 7
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Avenger!Reader
Requested by: Me
Warnings: Langu- you already know.
A/N This is not the end! I know it is going to seem like the end, and if you are content with this ending, you dont have to read further, But I repeat. Not the end.
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6 Part 7 Part 8 Part 9 Part 10 Part 11
~
Bucky’s POV (yea bitches. We are doin it)
I have never been the type of person that could sit around and do nothing. That could sit back and wait for something to be finished. I don’t like feeling helpless and I don’t like being able to do nothing in a situation. It makes me all anxious and weird. I would much rather be doing something that is beneficial to the problem at hand.
But that type of philosophy doesn’t really work in this situation. Especially since everything that is going on is within Y/N’s mind and I definitely do not have the powers that she has. So I am just sitting here, on her bed, holding her hands and waiting for her to wake up.
It has been almost three hours since she went under, and I cant help but wondering if that is normal. She had said that she would need a few hours, but she has never done something this big before. She has never had to take out this many memories. Maybe she underestimated the time she needed.
She actually looks quite peaceful here. Her hair is all sprawled out against her pillows and her one arm is crossed over her stomach while the other one is holding mine. Her face looks peaceful and the only sign that she isn’t actually asleep is the fact that her eyes dart back and forth under her eyelids every once in a while. But apart from that, her body remains completely still.
Doctor Strange has been closely monitoring her vitals from the other side of the bed. Getting up about every 10 minutes to make sure that nothing has changes and that the cooling serum is still working. He had explained the basic premise of the different machines to me and had also explained all of the ways that they could go wrong very quickly if they weren’t closely monitored. I hadn’t cared much for that part of the conversation.
How could she have done this? How could she have risked so much just to save my mind? It would have been easier to just put me under and tried to wait Hydra out. Maybe in 60 or 70 years the organization would fall and then I could be brought back safely then. She didn’t have to go through all of this. Didn’t have to be hooked up to all of these machines, digging around in the memories of 7 billion people just to save me. I am not worth that much.
I pull myself out of my own thoughts and allow myself to look around at her room. She was right. Mine does look dull and boring in comparison to hers. She has a wall of bookshelves on one side, filled to the brim with books of all genres. Her walls are painted navy blue and the room is pretty dark. Some white Christmas lights hung up to give the room a soft glow and a wax warmer that makes the room smell of cherries. But what draws my attention the most is all of the pictures that she has hanging up in her room.
Another wall of her room is dedicated solely to framed pictures that have been hung there. Big pictures and small pictures. Black and white pictures and color pictures. Pictures of her and her friends. Pictures of her when she was younger. Pictures of places that she has gone and things that she has done. There are so many different things. I look through all of them and then my eyes come to rest on one in particular. It is at the very top of the wall and it seems to be new. I squint my eyes to look at it only to realize that it is a picture of me.
Me.
It was at one of the parties that Tony threw a couple months back. Tony had forced me to wear this all black suit that he had gotten tailored for me and so I did. Halfway through the night though I had gotten hot and taken off the jacket and rolled up my sleeves to my elbow. This is what the picture is. It is me standing in front of the bar with my flesh harm holding my jacket over my shoulder while my metal arm is resting in my pocket. At the time, it had seemed like a very normal position, but looking at the picture now, it looks like I was posing for the cover of a magazine.
Why did she take a picture of me? And more importantly why did she hang it on the wall?
“Bucky,” Steve pokes his head into the door of Y/N room and smiles at me, “can you come out here for a minute? We are talking about a new mission coming up and we need your input,” Cap looks down at the bed at Y/N and lets his tough guy demeanor fall for only a split second before he is back into business mode.
Steve had seen a lot of people die in the war. A lot of people with loved ones that never got to come home. And even after the war is over he has still seen a lot of death and destruction. Steve has kind of taken on the idea that things happen and people die but you have to keep moving to make sure that the world gets better. It is an idea that I haven’t fully adopted from him yet.
“I will be right out there,” he nods his head and steps away from the door. I look back down to Y/N to see the fact that she is still. I don’t want her to leave her, but I know that she is in the good hands of the doctor. She will be okay. Soon this will all be over and everything will be okay. At least this part of our lives will be okay.
I slowly slip my hand from hers and stand up from the bed. I check to make sure that everything is fine and that she doesn’t move, and after 30 seconds, I turn and walk away from the room as well. Everyone is situated in Y/N’s living room and they all turn to look at me.
“How is she?” Natasha asks and I can tell that it is the same question that everyone wants to know the answer to.
“She is doing good. Strange says that she is using up a lot of energy but she is staying hydrated and her vitals and body temperature are remaining stable so, she is good,” every one sighs and I have to give a small smile. These people really do care about her.
I know that Y/N wants to believe that they all just treat her like a child for the hell of it, but that really isn’t the case at all. They are just trying to protect her. She is the person on this team with the strongest abilities and it is a priority to keep her safe above all else.
“So, lets get started,” Cap says and I take a seat in the chair on the other side of the table to begin work. But my heart and head isn’t in it. They are still sitting back in Y/N’s room, holding her hand and making sure that I am there when she wakes up.
~
The high-pitched scream that rattles the glass windows comes about an hour and a half later. When all of us have finally gotten super comfortable and are going over the small details of the sting operation taking place in the middle of Afghanistan next week.
Everything goes dead silent for one small second before every single person is on their feet and rushing towards Y/N’s room, where the scream originated from.
Oh god. Something happened. Something happened and she is dying and it is all my fucking fault because I was the one that she was trying to fucking protect and god fucking dammit.
I push my way through the rest of the group until I am standing in the middle of the room, looking at an empty bed. Where the hell did she go? I look to Doctor Strange with wide eyes but he is giving me the same exact expression back. He just shakes his head slightly and points to the bathroom door on the other side of the room.
“Y/N?” I say as I take a step towards the bathroom door. No one else in the group dares to speak a word and no one dares to take a step forward. “Y/N, doll, are you okay?” there is no noise coming from the other side of the door and when I turn the handle, I can feel that it is unlocked. “Y/N, I am gonna come in, okay? I don’t want you to freak out. It is just me,” and then I open the door.
And the sight horrifies me. Y/N is sitting in the corner of the bathroom with her arms wrapped around her knees and rocking back and forth slowly. Her head is buried in her knees and I can see the way that her back rises and falls rapidly with each shaky breath that rings through the bathroom. I quickly block her from the others and close the door behind me as I enter the bathroom. “Y/N.”
“So many memories Bucky,” she lifts her head and I can see the look of fear that she has on her face. The look of a person that has seen everything. “So many thoughts. Everyone talking at once. Everybody talking about everything. No quiet. No silence. So many horrible things and horrible people and horrible memories all locked away in their heads. So many,” she is rambling and I throw all thought to the wind as I run over and scoop her up into my arms. Her arms snake their way around my neck to hold me in a tight grip. Not that I mind at all. This is the girl that risked her sanity to save mine.
“Oh, doll. I am so sorry. I am sorry that you went through that. But you are back now. You are safe. You can shut off the voices now. You don’t have to hear them anymore. It can be silent for as long as you like,” her face nuzzles into my neck and I let the feeling of having her in my arms encompass me. Her breathing slows and when she looks back at me, her eyes are rimmed red with unshed tears.
“The things that those people thought. The memories that they have of you. All strapped to a chair, electricity coursing through your veins to make you forget the person that you were and the things that you knew. The things they made you do. The experiments,” a sob catches in her throat at the thought of what they did and I just wrap my arm around her waist tighter and pull her closer to me once more. “They all had to erased,” her voice wavers and I want so badly to do something to make the sadness go away.
“You didn’t have to do that, doll. You could have just erased the code,” now she has all of those horrible memories in her head. Memories of me that I never wanted her to see. Memories of me as a person that I don’t even really remember.
“No. Now no Hydra member or any other person on this planet knows who the winter soldier is. Now no one on this planet besides you, me, and the team know that you exist or that the code ever existed. And you and I are the only 2 people on the planet that know that code,” she sets her face into a determined line and looks straight at me. “Now you are safe,”
I cant help myself. I lean in and capture her lips with mine quickly. It is a split second decision but I have to admit that it is the best decision that I could have made. Her lips are soft and sweet and when she kisses me back, I can feel my knees go weak underneath me.
Her hands come up to play with my hair and I can feel myself groan into the kiss as I try and pull her impossibly closer to me. We are all tongues and teeth as both me and her try and pour all of our emotions into a kiss. Her hands are moving down to rest on my chest and I am holding onto her hips to make sure that every centimeter between us is gone.
I never knew a kiss could feel like this. Could be so fiery and passionate and send shivers through my spine but still have so much emotion behind it. Still have something real. We stand like that for a few minutes, wrapped up in each other and never wanting to let go, before she finally pulls her face away from mine to breath. I will admit that as soon as her lips are gone, I want them back.
“Please tell me that that wasn’t a one time thing,” she breathes out and I can see the light slowly return back to her eyes. I can see the old Y/N coming back to me. She seems just as confused about what happened but the smile on her face tells me she liked it just as much as I did.
“I hope it wasn’t a one time thing. Because that was phenomenal,” I say and she laughs before she leans back in to give me a slow and lingering kiss that ignites my soul (cliché as hell, I know)
“I should save you more often,”

I got tired of having to take ownership and grant administrator privileges for protected Registry keys and files during the various tests I perform on my Windows PC. I coded ExecTI, a lightweight, tiny software, which allows you to execute a program as TrustedInstaller, then you are able to access protected resources like certain Registry keys and files owned by TrustedInstaller.
Here is how ExecTI looks: It has a simple user interface. The application has no other dialog, and options at all. It allows you to browse for an executable file exe, cmd, or bat file , or you can type the command directly in the text box.
To open yet another instance of Registry Editor. It should work under Windows Vista too, but I am not able to test it there. Running programs under TrustedInstaller privileges, especially a file manager app or Regedit. exe can be VERY risky and harmful for your OS. It is like a God mode in a first-person shooter game, where nothing can stop your actions, so if you execute a malware infected file as TrustedInstaller, it can cause damage to the Windows operating system. Use this mode only if you perfectly understand what you are doing and if there is no simpler way than running it as Trusted Installer.

Heretic For Mac
Though somewhat forgotten these days, Heretic was an important milestone for the FPS genre. Using a modified version of the Doom Engine, Heretic offered a number of significant improvements and advancements in FPS gaming, including interactive environment elements, an inventory from which a player might use any number of weapons or powerups they had collected, and, importantly, the ability.

Heretic is a dark fantasyfirst-person shootervideo game released in 1994. It was developed by Raven Software and published by id Software through GT Interactive. The game was released on Steam on August 3, 2007.[2]
Using a modified version of the Doom engine, Heretic was one of the first first-person games to feature inventory manipulation and the ability to look up and down. It also introduced multiple gib objects that spawned when a character suffered a death by extreme force or heat. Previously, the character would simply crumple into a heap. The game used randomised ambient sounds and noises, such as evil laughter, chains rattling, distantly ringing bells, and water dripping in addition to the background music to further enhance the atmosphere. The music in the game was composed by Kevin Schilder. An indirect sequel, Hexen: Beyond Heretic, was released the following year. Heretic II was released in 1998, which served as a direct sequel continuing the story.
Plot[edit]
Three brothers (D'Sparil, Korax, and Eidolon), known as the Serpent Riders, have used their powerful magic to possess seven kings of Parthoris, turning them into mindless puppets and corrupting their armies. The Sidhe elves resist the Serpent Riders' magic. The Serpent Riders thus declared the Sidhe as heretics and waged war against them. The Sidhe are forced to take a drastic measure to sever the natural power of the kings destroying them and their armies, but at the cost of weakening the elves' power, giving the Serpent Riders an advantage to slay the elders. While the Sidhe retreat, one elf (revealed to be named Corvus in Heretic II) sets off on a quest of vengeance against the weakest of the three Serpent Riders, D'Sparil. He travels through the 'City of the Damned', the ruined capital of the Sidhe (its real name is revealed to be Silverspring in Heretic II), then past the demonic breeding grounds of Hell's Maw and finally the secret Dome of D'Sparil.[3]
The player must first fight through the undead hordes infesting the location where the elders performed their ritual. At its end is the gateway to Hell's Maw, guarded by the Iron Liches. After defeating them, the player must seal the portal and so prevent further infestation, but after he enters the portal guarded by the Maulotaurs, he finds himself inside D'Sparil's dome. After killing D'Sparil, Corvus ends up on a perilous journey with little hope of returning home.
Heretic Mac Os X
Gameplay[edit]
The gameplay of Heretic is heavily derived from Doom, with a level-based structure and an emphasis on finding the proper keys to progress. Many weapons are similar to those from Doom; the early weapons in particular are near-exact copies in functionality to those seen in Doom. Raven added a number of features to Heretic that differentiated it from Doom, however, notably interactive environments, such as rushing water that pushes the player along, and inventory items. In Heretic, the player can pick up many different items to use at their discretion. These items range from health potions to the 'morph ovum', which transforms enemies into chickens. One of the most notable pickups that can be found is the 'Tome of Power' which acts as a secondary firing mode for certain weapons, resulting in a much more powerful projectile from each weapon, some of which change the look of the projectile entirely. Heretic also features an improved version of the Doom engine, sporting the ability to look up and down within constraints, as well as fly. However, the rendering method for looking up and down merely uses a proportional pixel-shearing effect rather than any new rendering algorithm, which distorts the view considerably when looking at high-elevation angles.
As with Doom, Heretic contains various cheat codes that allow the player to be invulnerable, obtain every weapon, be able to instantly kill every monster in a particular level, and several other abilities. However, if the player uses the 'all weapons and keys' cheat ('IDKFA') from Doom, a message appears warning the player against cheating and takes away all of his weapons, leaving him with only a quarterstaff. If the player uses the 'god mode' cheat ('IDDQD') from Doom, the game will display a message saying 'Trying to cheat, eh? Now you die!' and kills the player character.
The original shareware release of Heretic came bundled with support for online multiplayer through the new DWANGO service.[4]

Development[edit]

Like Doom, Heretic was developed on NeXTSTEP. John Romero helped Raven employees set up the development computers, and taught them how to use id's tools and Doom engine.[5]
Release[edit]
Shadow of the Serpent Riders[edit]
The original version of Heretic was only available through shareware registration (i.e. mail order) and contained three episodes. The retail version, Heretic: Shadow of the Serpent Riders, was distributed by GT Interactive in 1996, and featured the original three episodes and two additional episodes:[6]The Ossuary, which takes the player to the shattered remains of a world conquered by the Serpent Riders several centuries ago, and The Stagnant Demesne, where the player enters D'Sparil's birthplace. This version was the first official release of Heretic in Europe.[6] A free patch was also downloadable from Raven's website to update the original Heretic with the content found in Shadow of the Serpent Riders.
Along with the two full additional episodes, Shadow of the Serpent Riders contains 3 additional levels in a third additional episode (unofficially known as Fate's Path) which is inaccessible without the use of cheat codes.[7] The first of these three levels can be accessed by typing the cheat ('ENGAGE61').[8] The first two levels are fully playable, but the third level does not have an exit so the player is unable to progress further.
Source release[edit]
On January 11, 1999, the source code of the game engine used in Heretic was published by Raven Software under a license that granted rights to non-commercial use, and was re-released under the GNU General Public License on September 4, 2008.[9] This resulted in ports to Linux, Amiga, Atari, and other operating systems, and updates to the game engine to utilize 3D acceleration. The shareware version of a console port for the Dreamcast was also released.

Heretic received mixed reviews, garnering an aggregated score of 62% on GameRankings[10] and 78% on PC Zone.[11]Heretic and Hexen shipped a combined total of roughly 1 million units by August 1997.[14]
While remarking that Heretic is a thinly-veiled clone of Doom, and that its being released in Europe after its sequel and with Quake due out shortly makes it somewhat outdated, Maximum nonetheless regarded it as an extremely polished and worthwhile purchase. They particularly highlighted the two additional episodes of the retail version, saying they offer a satisfying challenge even to first person shooter veterans and are largely what make the game worth buying.[12]
It extends great support towards numerous video file formats, transition effects, compositing support, keyframes animation and titles editing, etc. It also supports to unlimited file formats, transitions, effects, titles editing feature and customizable interface. In 1996, Computer Gaming World listed being turned into a chicken as #3 on its list of 'the 15 best ways to die in computer gaming'.[15]
Next Generation reviewed the PC version of the game, and stated that 'If you're only going to get one action game in the next couple of months, this is the one.'[13]
Legacy[edit]
Heretic has received three sequels: Hexen: Beyond Heretic, Hexen II, and Heretic II. Following ZeniMax Media's acquisition of id Software, the rights to the series have been disputed between both id and Raven Software; Raven's parent company Activision holds the developing rights, while id holds the publishing rights to the first three games. Until both companies come to an agreement, neither will be able to make another installment in the series.[16]
Further homages to the series have been made in other id Software titles; In 2009's Wolfenstein, which Raven Software developed, Heretic's Tomes of Power are collectible power-ups found throughout the game. The character Galena from Quake Champions wears armor bearing the icon of the Serpent Riders.
