Note
if you made gems of rainbow moonstone(which is actually labradorite) and rainbow lattice sunstone(which is actually orthoclase) would you consider them as the type they are named as, the type they are chemically, or as a type of their own like you did with mint and golden beryls?
I would consider the chemical formula, since the name is not that important. Also, there is a variety of Corundum called "Oriental Amethyst", but it is actually a "Purple Sapphire", perhaps these varieties would change their shape a little (distanced from the original), just like the other varieties of Jade or Beryl. A great example is Iolite, which is nicknamed "Water Sapphire", is actually another Gem:

Monday's Mineral: Feldspar Gemstones
Ah, gemstones, one of the banes of my existence as geologist. Don't get me wrong, I can appreciate their beauty but all the silly trade names that gemologists come up with for varieties of the same mineral drive me up the wall.
Tumblr media
Anyway, feldspars can be gemstone quality if they are not broken down by natural processes first. There's only a couple that really matter: kspar, albite, and labradorite.
Moonstone is probably the most "valuable" of these gems. It is sometimes known as adularia due to it's adularescence (moonshine effect). This is caused by the orientation of albite crystals within orthoclase. It is usually colorless or white.
Tumblr media
Sunstone resembles moonstone but has a golden color and a warm, shiny, golden adularescence. This is an albite gemstone, as is aventurine. Aventurine has a characteristic appearance of aventurescence, or a sparkly, metallic look.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Labradorite is a mixed plagioclase feldspar that exhibits labradorescence, reflected light caused by characteristic polysynthetic twinning of the mineral.
Tumblr media
Finally, there is Amazonite, a microcline gemstone that usually green or light blue-green in color. It often exhibits perthite texture seen as white lines. Perthite texture occurs with exsolution or unmixing.

Taking gem anthropomorphization to a whole new level! 👀💎
("Purple Mica" is most likely lepidolite, while the "Black Tourmaline" is actually tourmalinated quartz. Not sure what "Red Website" is supposed to be - maybe white calcite with red marbling?)

I finally made the terms I was talking about coining. These are a series of terms for transgender bodily objects whose objecthood and object body plays a heavy role in understanding their transition and overall identity. I wasn't quite sure how to name them, so I just went with gemstones (Ryn has a geology special interest).
Kyanite Transmasc:
Tumblr media
[ID: A flag with nine horizontal stripes. In order from top to bottom, the stripes are red, yellow, teal blue, light blue, blue, light blue, teal blue, grass green, and purple. End ID]
This is a term for transmasculine bodily objects who feel as though their objecthood deeply affects their transition and their trans experience could not be described without it. The center blue stripe represents masculinity and manhood/boyhood. The light blue stripes represent "unconventional" transmasculine experiences and transitions in a world centered around humans. The teal stripes represent transmasculine objects whose transitions are not binary. The outer four stripes all represent our object bodies, and they are all different colors to showcase the diversity of the object community.
Labradorite Transfem
Tumblr media
[ID: A flag with nine horizontal stripes. In order from top to bottom, the stripes are red, yellow, coral pink, pink, magenta, pink, coral pink, grass green, and purple. End ID]
This is a term for transfeminine bodily objects who feel as though their objecthood deeply affects their transition and their trans experience could not be described without it. The center magenta stripe represents femininity and womanhood/girlhood. The pink stripes represent "unconventional" transfeminine experiences and transitions in a world centered around humans. The coral stripes represent transfeminine objects whose transitions are not binary. The outer four stripes all represent our object bodies, and they are all different colors to showcase the diversity of the object community.
Jasper Transneutral
Tumblr media
[ID: A flag with nine horizontal stripes. In order from top to bottom, the stripes are red, yellow, golden yellow, light yellow, dark yellow, light yellow, greenish yellow, grass green, and purple. End ID]
This is a term for transneutral bodily objects who feel as though their objecthood deeply affects their transition and their trans experience could not be described without it. The center dark yellow stripe represents neutrality and enbanhood/enbyhood. The light yellow stripes represent "unconventional" transneutral experiences and transitions in a world centered around humans. The golden yellow and greenish yellow stripes represent transneutral objects whose transitions lean towards the binary, with the golden yellow stripe representing feminine-leaning transitions and the greenish yellow stripe representing masculine-leaning transitions. The outer four stripes all represent our object bodies, and they are all different colors to showcase the diversity of the object community.
Charoite Transmascfem/Transfemmasc
Tumblr media
[ID: A flag with nine horizontal stripes. In order from top to bottom, the stripes are red, yellow, pinkish purple, lavender, bright purple, lavender, light blue-purple, grass green, and purple. End ID]
This is a term for transmascfem/transfemmasc bodily objects who feel as though their objecthood deeply affects their transition and their trans experience could not be described without it. The center bright purple stripe represents both masculinity and femininity, as well as manwomanhood/boygirlhood. The lavender stripes represent "unconventional" transmascfem/transfemmasc experiences and transitions in a world centered around humans. The pinkish purple and and light blue-purple stripes represent transmascfem/transfemmasc objects whose transitions lean towards either masculinity or femininity, with the pinkish-purple stripe representing feminine-leaning transitions and the light blue-purple stripe representing masculine-leaning transitions. The outer four stripes all represent our object bodies, and they are all different colors to showcase the diversity of the object community.
I will get around to making transneumasc, transneufem, and transneumascfem versions at some point. Right now Ryn is exhausted. If you dislike any of these flags for any reason and wish to make alternates, feel free! If you want to coin more terms for transgender bodily objects, go for it! Tag me when you do!
Tagging @radiomogai for archival purposes.
Remember, these terms are for BODILY objects. If you are human-bodied, feel free to reblog to spread awareness, but do not use for yourself.

I bought today from an lovely seller from an flea market in my Region. The half of tumbled gemstones and the tiny three ammonite.
The ammos selled for only each 50 cent 🥺 Wtf so cheap but small and cool. So i went with tiny finds for minimal storage. I appreciate it a lot.
Of course the other articel like the in half Quarz geodes 20€ or fist sized polished labradorite 25€ and ammonites each were at much higher in price to compare. With also some stonesalt crystal lamps.
To honest, i was looking for tumbled minerals like Heliotrope and or some sort of fluorite or malachite. But there was none of them.
Some ammonites, agate, some clear quarz like the smoke quarz, jasper Landschafts Jaspis the green gray with red spots, and the rutile quarz in golden and tourmaline.
Also the new polished Orthoceras fossil - Donnerkeil to wear like an talisman, but not for me.

So a friend of mine and I sat down yesterday and came up with a cute Gemstone/Steven Universe themed AU for the magnus archives and I am gonna lay out our ideas and thoughts here.
That being said, while we tried staying true ish to cannon of SU for the types of gems/ their roles in the society, we ventured a bit off corse too. None of this is set in stone and I def do wanna hear everyone elses ideas for this if you have any that you wanna share!
That said; let's begin!
To start us off, we chose Yellow Diamond for Jonah Magnus.

The reasoning behind this is because, while most people see the eye as a green, i think Jonah himself veiwed himself v above others, so we watched to stick witha golden color, and yellow also transitions very well into Greens.
Which leads me to Elias.

We went with a stone called Sphene because of the mixing of yellows to Greens and yet still very sharp and pretty looking.
As for Jon, we went with Emerald.

A nice deeper green that reflects light nicely.
For Martin we chose the 3 different types of Labradorite.
For seasons 1 and 2 we went for a high yellow and green flashing style to blend in with the more yellows and greens ull see with the main archives team shortly ((cept tim and thats a whole story)).

Then by s3 we see martin going towards the lonely with high blues and greens

Then finally we lead into s4 and s5 with the lonely and white laby.

When the two eventually fuse, we decided on the cute Idea of Green Moonstone for the reasons listed in the pic. We just thought it was cute.

Next we have Sasha. We wanted to stick with the softer yellows for her main self, before she is either corrupted or replaced thanks to the stranger mess so we went for Citrine.

Then to polished Nephrite

Now Tim was a fun one, we played around with a few idea till he decided on a Ruby guard for him as a protector for Danny.
More to come.
