I gotta be real, this is my least favorite set so far. I was very unsure about the characters I chose for these and it also shows in the compositions. I might redo them at some point but I want to finish the major arcana as a whole first, before I lose myself in revisions. Maybe I shouldn’t be too harsh on myself anyway, because this is just a fun project but, ah, perfectionism.

Anyway, citations from here, as always.

THE LOVERS - Actually means that the protag feels sexual urge or need for relationship. Harry basically flirts with everyone and is still hung up on his broken relationship, that he doesn’t even remember, so the meaning here is pretty warped. So I just chose some lover figures. But who to choose? Klaasje and Lely? Well their relationship gets known pretty late, and didn’t end very nicely. Also I do not know how Lely looks like as not-a-corpse so-- Klaasje and Ruby? Seemed to me more like a fling, and didn’t interest Harry much except for some lecherous line he dropped. So I chose Sylvie and Garte, because Harry actively gets involved in their business. He can help them get together or ultimately break their relationship before it could ever bloom (Shoutout to the cock carousel) so I chose them because Harry is the most involved here.

THE CHARIOT - I’m just gonna quote for a bit “The Chariot represents the vigorous ego that is the Fool's crowning achievement so far. (...) we see a proud, commanding figure riding victoriously through his world. He is in visible control of himself and all he surveys.” Not many people with horses around there in Martinaise, only people driving cars. None of the lorry drivers fir the description for me though. The chariot is also described as commandeering and rigid, and René fit the description for me the most. He is definitely a proud person, commandeering and strict, and also surveying the world around him from his booth up at the harbour. Otherwise, yeah I got nothing. This one was just hard lol

STRENGTH - “[The fool] is pressed to develop his courage and resolve and find the heart to keep going despite setbacks.” was a line that made me very desperately want to choose Kim here, but I had other plans for him already. Strength is part of the Virtues trio, and spoiler spoiler, Kim will get his place as one of the three Virtues, but this one goes to Cuno, because I feel he is also very influential on Harry. Another quote for the card is “The Fool also discovers the quiet attributes of patience and tolerance.“ which I think fits Cuno quiet well. Because boy do you need a lot of patience and tolerance with him to make him trust and help you. But ultimately he is also there in the end if you need him (and Kim is unfortunately not present) All in all, what could make you want to get your shit together more than escaping the mocking words of a potty-mouthed kid. Horrifying lol

I tried really hard okay. I’m sure there are other interpretations but that’s the best I could come up with.Meanwhile I also bought an art book of a really pretty tarot set I saw at the last convention I was at, and there were so many lovely compositions that almost made me question what I am doing here. But again, I’m doing these for fun [*self prep talk*]. Still, take a look at this magnificient tarot deck (Instagram Link) I’m so sad they were sold out, but at least I got the art book.

I don't think it needs any explanation, listen to the lyrics and that's it. So I decided to make a playlist because of this song. I had a few more that I knew I wanted to include like Crystal Clear and Thick Skull but that was it. So I forced it a bit: scrolled through my playlists and random "enemies to lovers" playlists on spotify... I wanna redo almost the whole thing tbh. I just wanna be casually listening to my music and if I feel that something has to go in there, then put it in there. But if I'm purposely looking for songs I end up forcing them u know?

#7: “You okay? You’re never this quiet.”

Ocarina of Time, post-game GanLink, technically a pre-story piece for That Broken Promise. Rated G, unless you count criminal amounts of fluff.

Link looked up from checking the fit of a gemstone in its necklace and caught his lover looking blindly at the shuttered window. There was nothing to see there; even were it open, the window looked out at the split stone that protected the fortress in Gerudo Valley from invaders.

He didn’t think Ganondorf was thinking of invasion, not here and now. Not with that kind of vacant look on his face. He clicked his tongue, and got no response.

That worried him more. He carefully put the stones away, pliers and necklace too, and unfolded from his seat on the floor to clamber up onto the bed at his side. It was only as the bed dipped next to him that Ganondorf woke from his reverie, rapidly catching and capping his bottle of ink.

“Ah, my heart. What is it?”

Link didn’t answer him immedintely. He looked his face over and turned to stack his papers neatly and set them and the lap desk aside before he knelt by his chest and reached up to cup his cheeks.

Ganondorf turned his face away, presenting his cheek – not his lips.

Strike two.

Link made a small, amused noise in his throat and tapped him pointedly on the cheek with two fingers. He touched his forehead briefly (he didn’t have the jewellery on covering it, either) and then dropped back on the bed to sign.

“You’re too quiet,” he said. “How long have you been sick?”

“I’m fine,” his lover insisted. “I can still work.”

Link raised both eyebrows and reached back to check the work he’d been doing. There was a scratch sheet nearby, graphite on parchment that could be rubbed clean on which he could see several sums done and scratched out and done again. He didn’t understand the numbers – he’d learned to read and write but not much math – and simply held it up because he could tell just from the repetition it was likely the same sums done and redone.

The same thing double and triple checked, out of presumed exhaustion.

Ganondorf glared, an expression that had zero impact on Link at this point in his life.

“Don’t even bother,” he signed. “You should go back to bed.”

“The work needs done.”

“I will take it to Nabooru. Who can likely still do math.”

“You can’t even read it.”

“How many times did you redo the same numbers here?”

Ganondorf threw his hands in the air. “Fine! I concede, you can take it to her.”

Link perked up immediately and sat up to land a kiss on his lover’s nose. “Perfect,” he signed after. “I will be back.”

Ganondorf rolled his eyes, as if exasperated, but Link knew he was looking forward to it as he settled down once the lapdesk and papers were out of his way. There was still plenty of room for him to rejoin him on the other side of the bed, after all.

Hey! Hi! Hello! Welcome to the dev log!

I'd like to apologize about last month, I was going through a big block on development and I got practically nothing done. I've also been focusing on real life stuff which has been strange!

OK! So, first things first. Some of you might've seen on our Twitter, the new trailer is DONE! It's been "finished" for a few weeks now but I went back and made some small edits and now I can fully say it's complete!

I'm insanely happy with how this one came out. I went all out on it and I think you guys will agree when it releases that it just completely blows all our other trailers right out of the water. From music, to editing, to visuals, presentation, everything.

I'm more than excited to show you guys this trailer, and hopefully you all will be able to see it soon! It'll be premiering in this years MOTHER DIRECT (as always lol), so be ready for that! Tons of great fangames and indies are gonna be shown off, along with other MOTHER projects, so if you're interested I highly suggest you keep up with M4E.

Now, onto a more direct game update!

As of right now, the demo is about 50% playable!

This month has been almost exclusively eventing and scripting for the game. That 50% doesn't mean the demo is halfway finished, but it means that we're halfway there to getting the demo playable from start to finish. There's still a lot I gotta do, but eventing is the biggest hurdle for me currently, so it should only be up from here.

Also,

Pigeonville got a bit of a makeover recently! I wanted to make the town look a bit more lively and urban, so I took the time to redo and add a few different buildings. I'm really happy with how it changed the look of the town, and I hope to use this as a base for other areas going forward.

This didn't come without some challenge though. Both the game's prologue and first chapter take place in Pigeonville, and because so many different events are used between the 2 sections, I've had PV split between 2 maps, one for the prologue and the other for chapter 1.

I initially did these edits on the CH1 version of the map, but while porting them to the PL version, I managed to completely screw up almost all the events in the prologue. So while it didn't have to be completely rescripted, I did have to do some playtesting for like a week just to make sure I caught everything that broke.

Speaking of bugs, there's been a bit of bug-squashing going on this month. My friend Muffins (Who helps write for the game) and I both sat down and tried to just play through what we have so far, and it was an experience to say the least. The game was NOT this broken in March, so playing through it just showed me so much stuff that broke, and some of it was absolutely hilarious.

I didn't record any of it though! Which is a shame! I'd totally post a montage or something of just the absolute funniest glitches we encountered but I guess it's for another time.

And that's all for this month! Sorry it's not much, but I figured it'd be better to give some sort of update then just oddly go silent. Things will most likely pick up during the mid-summer months, I'll have more stuff to talk about, these logs will be longer like they were back in January and we'll all be home on time for Jay Leno.

It's a bit hard to talk about scripting stuff out for the game since I only can talk about so much before I start spoiling stuff. Will June be better? Will there even be a log in June? Will I survive the summer heat? Only time can tell. And the weather man.

How competent is each Link based on your competency in the game?

So I saw a post from @telemna-hyelle, who credited this idea to @bllaaaaarrgh, who's original post I couldn't find. But this idea was too good to not do. "How competent is each Link based on your competency in the game?"

Hyrule: The Goddesses themselves had to interfere, not necessarily to get him through fights, but to get him enough rupees to afford potions, arrows, items, etc. Through divine time travel, he always picked the right rupee at the gambling game. He doesn't understand why no one else just does that to get rich quick. In his second adventure, he realized he could also time travel to redo fights and did so frequently. Very incompetent, but with divine intervention, anything is possible.

Legend: While competent in the land of Hyrule, in other countries Legend is a mess. Holodrum and Labrynna have more difficult enemies, more difficult dungeons and even Koholint, while not as bad as Holodrum and Labrynna, still required divine knowledge. Luckily Legend is a beast on home turf, who didn't struggle (that) much in either of his Hyrule quests. His greatest obstacle was Hytopia, which unfortunately required a power not even the great Legend wielded. Friendship. Rather than save the day alone, he vowed to someday return with friends.

Time: Time was very competent during both quests, doing everything that could be done, and even saved Termina very quickly thanks to a few all nighters. He'd be down to up the challenge at some point in the future.

Wind: This kid is cocky and he has every right to be. Not only did he complete his second and third adventures without a single brush with death, he also once had a crazy dream about his first adventure where all his items were scrambled and still beat Ganon handily. He got all 8 pieces of the Triforce before finding a single other item. Peak efficiency has been achieved. He wants the other Links to get on his level.

Four: His first adventure was mostly good, except for the few times he got completely and utterly lost with no idea where to go at all. He never did all the kin stone fusing quests and he really doesn't care (except he kinda really does care). His second adventure was just Green and Red, but that's okay, because they saved Zelda and who really needs Blue and Vio anyway? In his third adventure, Four really did split into four this time, but he was also fake and not real and a pirate because no way four separate people all own Link cables.

Twilight: Twilight is very incompetent at anything after beating Snowhead. The City in the Sky? Who is she? Ganondorf was eventually beaten, but don't ask him to describe anything between Yeta and Hyrule Castle, because as far as Twi is concerned, it may as well have been a fever dream. But wanna know what wasn't a fever dream? All those ridiculously high crossbow scores. He knows where his worth is at.

Sky: Sky has never done anything halfway in his life, and nothing in his life is incomplete or part finished. Never had a problem with his sword, but also never quite figured out how to use a shield. He also has pumpkin related sidequest trauma multiple times over.

Warriors: Warriors doesn't just love his job, he excels at it. He's gotten top marks and gold medals for every mission in all 10 worlds. And because he learned his lesson in his first quest, he also did it all without the Master Sword, because screw the Master Sword, it's too broken. He also owes his life and career to Young Link, Linkle and Marin, but he was no slouch himself.

Wild: Wild thought he was good and amazing and the Goddesses' gift to Hyrule, but then he had a terrible dream where all the chests and goals were scrambled and he got his ass handed to him and couldn't save Zelda or Hyrule in time for the dream to end, and his confidence has been forever shaken. Even in his past life 100 years ago, he ended up not completing everything. Wild is competent enough, but compared to the others, feels very incompetent.

Aziraphale’s Pocket Watch Chain

There are a number of key aspects to Aziraphale’s pocket watch chain, which I wanted to ensure I replicated for my costume.

First, his chain is comprised of three different chains: fob, main, and watch. Second, there is a more aged appearance to the gold, when compared to the bright gold of the fob. I took this to be because he polishes the fob (and likely the watch), but not the chain. The color difference is a lot more obvious in person than my photos, but it is a nice, subtle difference.

Here is the breakdown of my costume process:

Fob

The fob chain was the hardest to try and replicate. If I can find a better alternative, I’ll replace it in the future, but as it was I worked with what I had. The main feature was the ribbed links, one of which is skipped. I found silver, ribbed spacer beads as the closest way to replicate this. I would have used smaller, thicker jump rings for the alternating links, but they didn’t fit in the tight hole of the spacer bead. The ribs are the most important aspect, so I had to make that sacrifice. The color of the different pieces didn’t matter, as the entire chain was going to receive antique gold Rub N Buff anyway. I used a random necklace bar closure as the piece that slips in the buttonhole.

Main

This was the part that kept messing with my eyes. At first, it appeared to be that the chain changed halfway from the woven links to a simple chain. After examining the way the light glared off the links in certain ways, and how my replication moved, I accepted it to be the woven chain the entire way to the watch chain. I took a photo into Procreate and traced the links to get a better idea of how they are woven together (this can be seen in the first photo collage of this post), then took apart a chain and relinked it to match. A round of Rub N Buff to match the fob chain, and it was done.

Watch

The watch chain itself was simple, but the problem was the watch. We never get a good look at his watch. We see watches on his desk in S1, but the chains on them don’t match what he wears. He takes his watch out of his pocket very briefly in S2, but he has it cupped in his hand and turns quickly, so we never see it clearly. That meant I had to take some creative liberties.

I researched different pocket watches through history, and decided to go for one of the ornate fronts. The watch I started with was a cheap, broken Harry Potter watch. I sculpted a replica of the angel on his fob on it, then sanded it down so most of the detail was gone and worn away, so it looks like he’s been taking it in and out of a pocket for 200 years.

For the interior, I printed out a watch face I liked to cover the Deathly Hallows face. I removed the second hand, because they were a relatively new addition in the late 18th century, so I figured Aziraphale would be slow on the uptake of new technology. I set the time to 9:13 as a nod to the GO canon of 9:13 am being when the universe was created. I also printed out, on photo paper, the da Vinci sketch of Crowley we see on Aziraphale’s desk in the Lockdown special. I cut it to fit and, after a run through the washing machine gave the photo a roughed up the edges without disintegrating it, I placed it inside as a sweet little extra. The whole watch received a Rub N Buff treatment (gold leaf for most of it, but antique gold for under the photo, because it seemed like an area that wouldn’t get cleaned regularly).

Once everything was assembled, the chaos coalesced to look like a decent replica. I may redo the watch at some point, and obviously will be on the look out for a proper fob chain replacement, but I’m happy with the overall look.

                 Let me make things right once and for all. 

Emotions tug at his heart; feelings of regret, anger, sadness, happiness – there were so many mixed ones, so many that demanded he rectify some wrongs. They’d both agreed to move forward, give it a chance, because of that thing. He kicked his feet, childlike in the way he watched petals from overhanging sakura blossoms fall on the water, settled here on the bridge almost like he had stepped into another world. Worlds that were so many and far between, places they’d been to, and people they’d gotten close with. However, none of that mattered if they weren’t in perfect sync, and they hadn’t been for quite a while. Nonetheless, there was always a chance to fix things, an opportunity for change, and change it he would. He’d had many, many months to think things over, unscramble the confusing mess that was his broken and bleeding heart -- a chance to change it all. 

That was all he wanted for them in the end. A place to confide, no more feelings of awkwardness, complete synchronization. He wanted his dragon to know more than anything that no matter what happened, no matter who’d they meet and who’d they interact with, there would never be anyone more important than them. They’d be with those they loved sure, they’d see many things, and experience emotions with those people but those ones they held dear would never have the same deep-seeded bond that the two celestials held. It was about time he proved just how much he actually cared. After all, warped and twisted as his emotions had become with that disgusting maggot of a parasite, he’d never had the opportunity to follow through on the one thing he’d only just become fully aware of; seemingly moments before that dirty thing attached itself and messed it all up. 

So it was in this Japanese fantasy paradise, settled upon this bridge staring below at the placid water with the koi swimming about below his feet, that he looked up to glance at his surroundings one last time. This lush place that was both extravagant and simple, held everything that they both loved, he could be close to the water and the flowers and Lucien didn’t have to be anywhere but alone with his partner. He clasped his hands together, smiling to himself as his heart thrummed with excitement, he hadn’t initially known what to do for their little rekindling but now he had it all figured out. He knew exactly what he wanted. ‘Lucien, come to me will you?’ A sweet plea, with blue oceans closed to focus solely on their little link, once he was sure that his beloved had heard him he gave a gleeful little snicker and hopped off the fence to wait for him. 

Once the ashen dragon stepped through, seemingly like a ghost from mist, the diviner perked and threw himself straight in to squish the much larger frame of the two. “My Lulu~! ♥” It was always said with the same dumb, joyful happiness that sounded more like it belonged to a chirpy child rather than an endless entity such as himself. “Isn’t this place beautiful?” He stepped back and gestured around them, blue eyes sparkling as he turned to walk back toward the bridge. “Come on, come on! This is our private place, we don’t have to worry about anyone coming and interrupting our time together, you wanted a date? You got one!” 

Once the other joined him on the crimson bridge, he turned his attention back to the intently swimming fish, a softer and more relaxed sigh leaving him. “I have a wonderful little evening all planned out for us, it took me a long time to settle on something, so sorry for the wait. I just wanted things to be…perfect. You deserve that much at least.” He threaded their fingers together and gave a squeeze to the hand in his own, humming as he tugged him along the path of cobblestone, there were so many beautiful places to explore around the little garden. “Look at all the plants~ aren’t they also very pretty? I figured this was a good way for us to sit and talk but also rekindle some things. So, is there anything you want to ask me or address that’s bothering you before we get started or shall we just enjoy ourselves and not worry about it?”

Recent reads discussion:

Gotham Central: I really enjoyed this for a couple of reasons. Firstly, it was a Rucka-Brubaker collaboration. They’re both great writers and one of the reasons their Batman-‘Tec runs worked really well together is they understand how to write around each other. This helped fill out the department - by each having their own detective teams to write it made the department feel busier as they handed stories back and forth. Next, 2003-2006 was a smart time to put out a cop book in Gotham. There was a real resurgence in police procedurals around that time, so having one in the Batman office makes sense.

It also had a really good launching pad: the one/two hit of NML followed by Officer Down put the GCPD into an interesting situation where the most visible Gotham cops were out of the picture (Gordon, Bullock) plus there was a bunch of turnover following NML. This gave a nice mostly blank slate for the two to build a police department on (and let Rucka revisit what is clearly one of his favourite NML storylines - Montoya and Two-Face’s relationship).

I don’t think as a title it would work as well now, and it would need to interrogate different things. But focusing on the GCPD solving crimes despite Batman in a period when Bruce WAS on one of his downswings worked well. It was across the other events going around it enough that references work - Helena WOULD drop in to talk to the cop who has family mafia connections about a case. Brubaker WOULD write a Catwoman storyline from the other perspective. The Dead Robins case is all the more gripping for occurring during the second half of URTH, because what if it WAS Jason. Plus, Renee’s slow descent into leaving to police is really well illustrated all throughout - these days you go into the story to watch it, but at the time you’d have been hanging waiting to see what happened.

It’s rightly praised. Right team, right title, right time.

Batman/Superman/Wonder Woman: Trinity: another first meetings story. The interesting aspect of it being the Trinity rather than Superman/Batman is that the title didn’t lean into the classic echo panels that every good “we’re exactly the same/nothing alike” World’s Finest team up can’t help but run (I love that trope so much). There still WERE some parallel moments but not nearly as heavy handed and needing to focus on all THREE relationships.

It had an interesting choice of villains. Ra’s Al Ghul, Bizarro and a very young Artemis were an unbalanced set (Ra’s obviously running rings around the other two), but still took the time to let everyone get in the mix.

I also notice just the SLIGHTEST bit of processing going on here given that Clark gets to avert a 9/11 moment at LexCorp tower. Well, it was 2003.

I enjoyed it. It’s not my favourite first meeting for these three but it was a solid one.

Robin & Batman: first of all, the art on this is just so dreamlike, which is good for a retelling of an event that’s been covered and recovered so many times.

Dick’s first missions, first meeting with the Teen Titans, and the origin of his uniform is a story they love to tell and retell.

I really enjoyed that the story grasped the level of how absolutely broken-headed both Bruce and Dick are, and Bruce’s habit of crossing boundaries but thinking it’s for your own good.

I liked that this was a strong reinterpretation, rather than a redo of other versions. That said, it was a bit TOO self-aware and fusion for my taste.

The constant references to Nightwing were one thing, as was the constant Bruce and Alfred debate of child v child soldier v son. I get the meta you’re playing with, but it’s possible to be a little less blatant in it.

But the way the story merged a whole bunch of other events into this one was rather “I see what you’re doing but I’m unsure if I like it”. Stealing from Jason, Tim AND Damian’s Robin periods, particularly things that were specifically linked to THEM rubs me a bit the wrong way.

I’m resigned to the inevitable long pants but DICK DIDN’T HAVE LONG PANTS.

Waylon Jones is linked to Jason’s pre-Crisis circus origin, not Dick’s. It feels a bit icky to graft him onto Dick’s (also the altered setup of how Haly’s worked).

I did like that the trap was a reinterpretation of the Hanging Judge trap (though honestly just redo Two-Face for me again, I like that story).

D&D is Tim’s thing. I promise you you can come up with a group activity for Dick to join his classmates in that isn’t heavily linked to one of the other kids.

Equally I’m pretty sure only Damian was ever a Gotham Academy kid. It actually amuses me that all the boys largely went to very different schools (though Damian’s now at one of Tim’s!)

Those quibbles aside, it’s a good retelling. I just don’t like it when comics go ahead and merge character traits belonging to other Robins into each other - it’s lazy and it confuses newer readers.

I'm on the autism spectrum, also ADHD so yeah my brain is a bit of a cluttered but organized mess, this is also why I may disappear from the internet for months at a time and why this is the only social media I can somewhat keep up with.

I play & DM dnd games, I mostly dm comedy/horror stories that I’ve written- haven’t played for a bit though because creating a consistent group is nearly impossible.

Also very much into witchy shit, a tarot card a day keeps the depression away and crystals keep me sane.

I enjoy writing fiction although I tend to get burned out easily after writing long projects, you'll see some of my writing posted on here, no clue how often. I also occasionally write fanfiction and poetry though not much.

The genres I generally tend to write have themes of LGBTQ+, mental health, romance, urban fantasy, dark imagery, comedy, horror, coming of age, mind-bending, dreamy, etc.

I also hate plot twists- PLOT TWIST I love them and you will see plenty of them in any and all of my writing.

I had more WIPS but have broken this down to the ones that are active. I try to keep the descriptions vague because I don't want to give much away, it's more of a vibe if you will. I am going to be redoing all of the WIP intros so that’s why there aren’t any links currently. Also the writing posted in the tags is a bit outdated since I’ve updated a lot of the stories but I didn’t want delete old posts. I’ll hopefully try to drown it out with new writing. Rainclouds 

Rain clouds, y'know those little thoughts that seem to pester you mind when you try to convince yourself that everything is fine? yeah that's what this story is about. LGBT+ students in a small town of britain dealing with that voice coming to life as a shadow in their minds. Bittersweet and full of twists and turns. Dark imagery meets slow-burn romance that's seemingly destined for failure. Shattered glass, shattered thoughts, but maybe there is a way to clear the rain, to let someone in. But what if letting them in is what leads to the bridge collapse?

Stormclouds 

Another side of the rainclouds story. A darker side of the story. A friendship lost throughout time but one side still painfully obsessed with the idea of that coming back. Putting on a fake smile to fend off the storm that has already overtaken them, the world that has already decided it doesn't want them there. Full of wonderful fantasies and ideas but those fantasies turning into nightmares as everything seems to go wrong in every way. The mirror never matched, the stories never finished, and worst of all the lights were starting to flicker.

Rainy Grove

A forest full of secrets, a place where the sun never seems to come out even in the dead of summer. Haunted perhaps? Who's to know what resides deep in those woods that everyone is warned not to wander into. Once you go in you never come out. But when one bored girl decides it would be fun to take her friend on a hike into the woods to see what really lays beneath. They come to realize that it's not ghosts at all rather seemingly friendly people with very sharp teeth. Full of twists and turns, dark imagery, and characters that turn out not to be black and white as originally believed.

Dissociated

It was normal to experience voices in your head, giving you advice, telling you what's right and what's wrong right? At least that's what he'd believed most of his life, even as a child the one thing he remembered was a friend, a friend who didn't actually exist but rather hugged him from the inside and gave him words of hope. But now he was in University where the things that used to only happen sometimes had gotten much worse. The memory blanks, the coming to in places he didn't even remember going, friends talking about conversations they'd had when he hadn't seen them for weeks. It was all getting out of hand, racing through the endless maze in his own head had gotten so much worse. He needed to find a way out, Just a door, something, something that could tell him what was wrong with him.

Eldenstow Creek

A drive through the empty roads of the countryside, along the edge of the woods and away from everything they'd once known. Sounds nice right? well not when you're running from something, something far more sinister than what they were about to encounter. The world was not as it seemed, there was another side, a side where strangeness & evil resided. Circuses popping out of seemingly nowhere, pools of mystical water trying to pull them in, unintended consequences after trying to fight this higher power. Everything had seemed normal but then they’d made one mistake, messed with the wrong person, spilled the blood of something they never should've. So yeah. They were in the same car and driving along the edge of the woods. Nothing to it.

Well, I'm sad to say the day is finally here... Acid Town has been licensed in English by Tokyopop, seemingly.

There's no official announcement yet other than a product page. To say I'm disappointed and anxious about this news is an understatement. I had been hoping for a company that I trusted more to pick up the license. But I'm not familiar with Tokyopop's recent work, I've just been told it's decent enough. I've been working on this series for over a decade so of course decent doesn't cut it with me.

To be fair I think it is about time that Acid Town got a solid redo in English. The early chapters by DP had a number of errors, and when I initially took over I was new to the whole hobby and the quality of both the scans and the translations aren't fantastic. I would love to see a nice, new, clean edition done of Acid Town without the quality inconsistencies, and with the updated artwork of the books.

My anxiety comes from not knowing who all will be working on this and what their goal is. I don't trust that a company like Tokyopop will take the time to do it right and not phone it in. I worry we'll end up with bad translations and lost context for some of the cultural aspects of the series. And I worry that Acid Town's lackluster, inconsistent release schedule will cause the company to drop the series long before it finishes.

I'm not sure why they chose to license Acid Town over any other of Kyuugou's completed and very popular series. Those seem like they would have been a better financial bet and slam dunk if the goal is to turn a profit. But Acid Town does have a small but dedicated fan base, so maybe the demands for an English release just got through after all this time. Or, maybe they accepted the series as a condition of another deal. I have no idea.

I do think fans should support any official release because it will support Sensei. I just know that I personally won't probably ever be satisfied with it and I'll probably be going over every panel here with a fine-toothed comb, so you can look forward to me being a neurotic psycho about it.

Our downloads page has not been consistently maintained and with the news of the English license I will be removing broken links and no longer promoting the downloads page. Right now we're not dropping the series, though. We'll see how things shake out.

Hello everyone!!! Finally after months of thinking writing deleting crying and redoing everything over again, I finished part 1 of 6 of this series. This part comprises twenty chapters, each one made-up of 800 to 4000 words.

Some chapters brought me to tears, while others stole giddy giggles from me. We all need balance.

100 Theme Challenge - Variation 1 - 13. Misfortune

Ok I didn't intend to do this theme this soon. I kept telling myself: "please Smile just practice more, you cannot do the falling pose yet". But I have a bigger problem: Past Smile left me with all the tough-nut depressing shitty themes to draw. You see X-mas and New Year are coming soon and there is no way I will post a depressing picture on X-mas or New Year. Bad luck! Bad luck! So I'd better get rid off some depressing themes now. On November!

It lies on the ending of Chapter 21: Fall. Lemme just summarize it for you: Mello bet that Near hadn't even fallen once and Near begged to differ. He had fallen 4 times. I quoted his words to Mello ok:

Agrrrrr it sounds so cheesy but trust me if you read it in the context it's touching as fuckkk.. I lost sleep several days because of this fanfiction xDDDDD So I will draw 4 pictures inspired by Near's 4 times fallings (well actually 3 because one I had done in the past):

Unfortunately it is about SoraRiku, not Meronia though lol and I don't intend to redo it =v=

Author's notes: - Erm.. what I feel about Near is that to him L's death is of no importance at all because L does not matter to him. But because that death affected Mello and Mello mattered and in consequence it affected him as well. So in some way it's kind of a bad luck/misfortune to him. If not for it Mello had never left and their time in Wammy's House together would have been longer and maybe the ending would have been different. So we have Near falling from Heaven with one of his wings injured as he said so in the fanfiction. - I enjoyed every moment drawing this theme. I tried to do it in one layer like the picture Sorrow Past Smile used to do. But I failed with his hair lol The falling pose is awkward as well. My intention is that he fell from the sky (and lands on his back) but my colleague said it looks like the opposite: he jumps from a high place and will land on his hands and feet. I admit he is right but I can't figure out how to fix it. Maybe the problem lies on his feet pose? I don't really know but what's done is done == - I remember Past Smile was very good at adding texts/brushes but I forget how to do so. I just added the quote in a simple way == - I know the clouds are shitty but I drew them myself. I didn't use any brush (Past Smile hardly drew any background, she just added brushes/textures) so I give myself a pat on the head for the courage to try new things =v= what's the point in improving if I just copied everything?
