This is going to be an unpleasant post but I need to talk to y’all about heat stroke in dogs. I am an ER vet and I am seeing firsthand the death toll that this heat wave is taking on our pets. In the past two weeks, for every single weekend shift I have worked, we have had at least one DOA with a body temperature over 107 degrees. One of them had simply been on a 20 minute walk at 5pm. All of them were brachycephalic (short faced breeds like pugs and french bulldogs). Their owners were in shock that this could happen so quickly, and their grief lingers with me.
If you have a dog, and especially if you have a brachycephalic dog, you need to familiarize yourself with the signs of heat stroke. Do not take your dogs out in the heat of the day, be aware of the pavement temperature, and always have fresh water available for them. When I am outdoors with my dog I am checking on him constantly. This heat wave is extremely serious; I need you to keep yourself and your pets safe.

Spoon-feeding:
Cold water to a whumpee with a severe fever who’s too dehydrated and weak to stay awake
Hot water to a whumpee after they’ve lost a lot of blood who’s too dehydrated and weak to stay awake and are also very cold
Hot tea to a whumpee with hypothermia who’s too numb or shaky to drink it themselves
Cold water to a whumpee who just woke up after fainting from heatstroke
Hot broth to a whumpee who hasn’t eaten anything substantial in a long time and has trouble keeping most food down
Hot broth, plain oatmeal, or okayu to a whumpee who is extremely nauseous
Medicine to a whumpee who needs it
Tell me more.

Whumpee is an animal hybrid of some kind and are left in a vehicle on a hot summer day. Whumper said they would be right back, but it feels like hours have passed since the doors locked and Whumper vanished from their sight. Maybe they can't open the doors because Whumper never bothered to show them how. Maybe their own obedience keeps them trapped, slowly succumbing to the heat.
Do they bang on the windows to try and get help? Or do they lie down and accept their fate? It's just so hot- Whumpee can barely think straight. Their throat is dry, lips cracking from dehydration.
...maybe if they rest their eyes for a bit. Maybe Whumper will be back when they wake up...

How to survive the heat
Tumblr media
Okay, let me talk about something else.
The climate is changing and it is getting hotter. The summers especially are getting hotter and hotter by the year and a lot of people are struggling with it.
As my American friends keep reminding me: The US - at least those areas, that have always been kinda hot - has usually ACs for most buildings. But someone sitting in Germany I can guarantee you: Most of us do not. At least not outside of commercial buildings like shopping malls and office buildings.
And still, we have temperatures over 30°C - at times going up to 40°C (that is like 86° - 104° in freedom units) - and somehow have to survive in here. So, as someone sitting in an attic flat with no AC in sight, let me talk survival.
Why heat is dangerous
Tumblr media
Let me quickly talk about heat and why it is dangerous to us. And let me make it clear: Yes, heat is dangerous. Heat usually kills more people than any other type of extreme weather. Because while you can protect against most other weather, the heat is not that easy.
Our human fleshbags usually function best around 37°C (which is like 98.7°F) and to keep itself at around that temperature. When we are cold, our body burns energy to warm itself up. When we are hot, we produce sweat so that our bodies can cool of via evaporation.
The issue is, that our bodies are only able to do that in certain temperatures effectively.
And if we cannot cool off, our body will slowly fail. Additionally we might sweat so much, that we loose too much water through sweat, our bodies might shut off, too.
Just a quick graphic here. Just to make you aware. Because heat is dangerous.
Tumblr media
So, let us talk about something.
How to survive the heat without an AC?
Let me talk about my best friend during the summer heat: The fan. With that I mean the nice electric fan that keeps the air moving. Yes, it burns energy and that sucks, but with the air moving, our sweat can better evaporate, hence cooling us down.
Another thing that might help as well, is a device removing air humidity - because this, too, helps with sweating.
Then, of course, there is the good one: Air out your apartments early in the morning or throughout the night. When it is still cool. Then close up the windows during the day and close and curtains and blinds. If you do not have blinds, you might consider putting something against the windows from the outside. I personally use medical foil blankets, that are made to keep temperatures regulated. But please, please, if you do that: Put them up outside. Because otherwise it might harm the glass of the window. (And yes, sadly I have to remind you, too that you need to check with your landlord if this is okay.)
Another thing that might help you: Fill bottles with water and freeze them. Then put them up in the highest place in your room. This can lower the temperature in your room for a couple degrees. It is a very easy hack that works quite well.
Now, you might have heard about that drinking cold drinks is bad and that instead you actually should drink hot drinks. The science behind it is basically, that cold drinks do kinda cancel themselves out. Yes, cold drinks and ice cream cool down the inside of the body, but with it, it will also tell the body not to sweat. Because of that, you win nothing, but you also loose nothing. The natural temperature regulation gets stopped for a while, but for the same while your body gets cooled by the cold drink. So... It's alright. Do it the way you like. And yes, even though sweating is a good and healthy thing in the heat... It also kinda sucks.
Most importantly though: Drink. And drink something non-alcoholic. (Because alcohol dehydrates the body.) Other than that, it really does not matter what you drink. If it is hot or cold. Just make sure you drink about 2-3 liters a day. To make up for the loss of water through sweating.
The last tip I have is not good for the introverted. But... You might wanna consider spend your days in a place that is climatized. I usually sit in the office even on my off days, because it has a passive cooling system (yes, fancy sustainable stuff even!) and during the weekends I often go to the university library, because it is nice and climate controlled there.
Would I love to lounge around at home instead? Yes. Yes, I would. But... Beggers can't be choosers. And even my autistic ass prefers sitting in the library to having a heat stroke. Because yes, I had a heat stroke once. I cannot recommend it.
So, that said: Stay chilly.

beach date ~ 🍅💯
🦋 category: one-shot
🦋 characters: karma, asano, mentions of asano's father
🦋 summary: a small and fun beach date was suddenly flipped upside down as asano suddenly passed out for seemingly no reason
🦋 warnings: heat stroke? bad parenting from asano's dad
🦋 notes: i accidentally deleted the ask from the requester omg i am so stupid istg... but i remembered their user (i hope) @project-neo thanks for requesting !
it was a request where asano, karma and reader were out at the beach and asano suffered from a heat stroke, due to his shitty father
there's a little part inspired by the manga where asano and his dad talk about suing each other that I decided to include in here bc I thought that it would be funny. I actually don’t remember if that scene was animated or not lol
Tumblr media
The blazing hot sun did you no favour. Every step felt like walking on lava. Karma was behind you, laughing at your struggles, as if his hair wasn’t dripping with sweat this very moment. Asano walked behind the both of you, maintaining a distance he always had, fearing that he would be seen one day. He seemed to be embarrassed by the sight that had welcomed his eyes.
He was beginning to question why you had to plan a beach day. In such hot weather no less. It was psychotic of you. Asano was beginning to see that he seemed to have a type. He wondered why he even decided to go on this trip, he must have had a screw loose in his brain.
The sun had provided extra glare on the sea, the water surface reflecting off the light from the sun. Karma seemed to be well prepared for the day, which was obvious as he was the one who had planned it. You just joined because you had nothing else better to do. Asano joined because of your relentless talk about wanting a triple date. He could only give in to your charms.
The summer seemed to be the perfect time to visit the beach. The blazing sun shone the areas around the three of you as you all looked for the perfect spot to lay down beside each other, though Asano would prefer to keep his distance from the two of you, due to his fear of being caught. He had no idea as to why he was even involved with the both of you, it was something that just… happened. But he didn’t stop it either, Asano just chose to let the relationship continue. Whether it was a decision he regretted remains to be seen.
“Karma!” You shouted, “I found a spot!” Your arms waved enthusiastically, signalling for the boys to come over. Karma looked over and smiled, seemingly satisfied with the spot you had found.
“Not bad,” Karma replied as he placed his items before helping you to arrange yours neatly on the sandy ground.
Asano just followed, not wanting to argue as he had a bad headache. Perhaps it was due to him not being able to get enough sleep and thus not at his best. But he still decided to follow them on this date, for some unknown reason. Asano was beginning to think that he had broken his brain at long last, after his constant studying. There was something wrong with him, wasn’t there?
The sun continued to bake the ground and the sand they were sitting on, the shade doing little to lower down the temperature, though it was still better than being out in the open. Karma was getting restless, it was not a part of his plan to just sit around and let the sand be blown into their eyes. He wanted fun, his type of fun.
It was not a date with Karma if everything went smoothly without pranks.
“Y/n!” Karma chanted happily, with a wide grin plastered onto his face. You looked at him, confused but on high alert, one can never have their guard down around him. Even Asano had his guard up even though it was not his name that left Karma’s mouth.
One can never be so sure of their safety.
“What is it Karma?” You asked, ready to defend yourself. That only egged Karma on more as he inched closer, his hands hiding behind his back. You knew this could never be anything good.
  He was Akabane Karma.
“Karma,” Asano began softly as he rested on the sand below him. “Can we have a normal date for once?” Asano seemed to be awfully tired and had his eyes shut despite being underneath the shade you had found. You just assumed that he was tired from studying all night.
You nodded in agreement, “Asano is right! We need a break, you know!”
Karma laughed in response, “Wouldn’t that be such a killjoy?”
You looked at his arms, tilting your head so that you could see what he was hiding. “A crab! You’re holding a crab!” You decided to guess. It was a wild one with no evidence but it was also the one that had made the most sense to you.
“Come on!” Karma continued, “We’re out here to have fun, aren’t we?”
You did not know how to respond to that, because technically, Karma was right. You were all out here to simply have fun. Though you were not interested in Karma’s idea of fun. It seemed more like hell to you.
“I'd rather die than enjoy the ‘fun’ you have for us,” Asano replied. It was like he had read your mind and said the exact words you wanted to come out of your own mouth.
Unfortunately, Asano’s words seemed to have little effect on Karma. It seemed as though nothing would have him under control. He was a wild animal it seems. You often wondered just how you got into this mess to begin with…
Karma still kept his hands out of view, which only solidified your thoughts further. It had to be a crab, there was no other explanation. What else could he take from a beach? Surely Karma would not take a jellyfish right?
And you would be right to think that it was a crab. Karma suddenly threw it at you, catching you completely off guard. You let out a loud screech before crawling over to Asano. All Asano did was to glance between the both of you, “Do I have to remind you guys your ages?” He said before laying down. His head was hurting badly and he needed that rest. It was just a headache, it will go away, right?
“Asano!” You began. “You’re sweating so much even under the shade! The weather really can’t be that hot!” You laughed.
Asano’s body seemed to be sweating a crazy amount, more than Karma even. Asano merely brushed your comments aside and ignored it, acting like all was normal with him. Though he could feel that there was something wrong.
  Something wrong with his body
Karma, however, frowned and sensed that something was slightly… amiss. He squinted his eyes at Asano, who glared back. Karma was examining his dearest rival and lover, only to get a glare back, how kind of Asano. “Are you sure you are alright?” Karma asked.
Asano could only nod in frustration, “Do you guysss think… I am a small child?” He snapped, his words sounding slightly slurred and dragged on.
“How else are we supposed to treat you?” You joked, not sensing that there seemed to be something wrong.
“I don’t knoww,” Asano replied, his speech still dragged on as his head was hurting him more. “I’m goingggg to get sssomething.”
Asano tried to stand, but his legs seemed to give up on him. His hands reached for a tree as you stood up and rushed towards him, finally realising that something might just be a little bit wrong. Asano tried to tell you that he would be fine but he could not even stand properly.
“I- amm finee,” He said. His speech was sounding even more slurred than previously. He could not even speak like a normal person. Something was definitely wrong and you should have realised it sooner,
The gravity of the situation only fully fell upon you when Asano completely collapsed in your arms, going limp. Karma rushed towards the both of you and touched Asano. The both of you felt his bare skin. It was weirdly hot. Something seemed to be wrong.
“Heatstroke,” Karma quickly deduced. “I’ll carry him to the male’s, you call an ambulance.”
You nodded and handed Asano to Karma as quickly as you could. Next, you looked through your bag and took out your phone, dialling for the ambulance. You wondered if you should let Asano’s family know about it. They were a family… but they don’t know about you and Karma, for obvious reasons. You decided to play it safe and not call them. You will let Asano decide if he wants to call them when he wakes up.
Karma went to splash cool water on Asano using the showers while you called the ambulance. It did not take long for them to arrive and take Asano with them, though only one of you could follow Asano in the ambulance as there was limited space. Karma let you follow Asano while he took public transport. The paramedics assured you that Asano was not in any critical danger and that you guys had Karma to thank for his quick thinking.
Karma had always been smart, of course he would realise what was happening and immediately follow up with the solution to ensure that things would go smoothly. That was one of the reasons why you were drawn to him. He was just full of the unexpected and there would never be a second of boredom spent with him around.
The drive to the hospital was a mere ten minutes, yet it felt like the ride was longer than you had been alive. Your gaze was stuck on the unconscious Asano, your hands held tightly to his, hoping that he would awake and tell you that this was all just a huge, elaborate prank by him and Karma, though it was unlikely. Asano would never work with Karma for a prank. That wouldn’t be Asano anymore.
You followed the paramedics as they rushed Asano into the hospital, into a room, until you were not allowed to follow them anymore. You texted Karma your location, hoping that he would join you soon. Karma took a while to arrive but you were glad that he did. The both of you sat in silence, your lovely beach date ending just like that. You two still had to figure out the reason behind Asano’s heatstroke as well.
Why was he severely dehydrated? Why was he severely dehydrated? It didn’t seem to make any sense that Asano would just not drink water, there had to be something more behind it. Asano was not the kind that would just risk himself like that. Karma shared the same thoughts as you as well. The both of you decided to approach Asano about the topic in the best way the both of you could, without pushing him away.
“We should just ask him,” Karma suggested, “Like a casual conversation. Talk about it like its some normal thing.”
“And how do you even go about that?” You asked, “How do we even phrase it?”
Karma paused as he thought about it. His gaze fixed on the wall in front of him as he tried to figure out ways to your dilemma. Asano was still not a very open person despite being with the both of you. It takes a lot, trying to enter his world that he had kept closed to many around him. You were just scared that he would not be truthful.
“We can just say ‘why did you faint? What did the doctors say?’,” Karma suggested.
You nodded in agreement as the doctors exited and approached the both of you to inform you two that Asano was alright, he just had a heatstroke and that he had been transferred to a room for further observation, but he should be fine to leave in a few hours. The doctors even thanked Karma for his quick thinking, otherwise who knew what might have become of Asano Gakushuu.
The both of you thanked the doctors before heading off to find Asano to check up on him. There he laid on the hospital bed, looking the same as ever. His face facing out the window. His eyes glancing at the scenery.
“Asano,” You chanted with a huge smile on your face as you slowly approached him.
“The doctors said I got a heat stroke right?” He asked.
You paused as your mind scrambled about to find the right words to respond, but Karma managed to beat you to it.
“So straightforward!” Karma laughed, “How did it happen to you?” He asked in the most inappropriate, unserious tone you had ever heard from Karma. He had just gone against the plan!
Asano sighed as he turned to face the both of you, “You know… my father.”
Karma laughed once more, you shot him an unimpressed look while Asano looked as annoyed as ever. “A man can’t just cause heat stroke, you know,” Karma replied.
Asano rolled his eyes, “My father did not allow me to drink anything if I could not pass the papers he made me to! I can’t drink a single glass if I don’t meet his expectations.”
  Oh…
You did not know how to respond to that. It was not what you were expecting to hear. You knew Asano had problems with his father but you never knew it would be this bad. That man should not be a father.
“Sounds like a good lawsuit, child negligence. Don’t you think so?” Karma responded, saying the last thing you expected to hear in a situation like the one you were in right now.
You stared at him with the most judgmental face you could show while Asano actually seemed amused by what Karma had said.
“Now that,” Asano replied. “Is a good idea, I wonder how much I can make from this.”
You frowned at the both of them, absolutely bewildered at what had just happened, at what you had just heard. It was more than crazy. Have they gone insane?
“Y/n,” said Asano, “You seem scared.”
“Yeah,” You replied, “At how crazy the both of you are.”
Asano and Karma laughed like it was just a silly joke. You just kept your judgemental face and looked at them. Why were you even involved with them was anyone’s guess.
The hours ticked by and soon, Asano was allowed to return to his home. He was already getting tired of the hospital bed and the food was not suitable to his taste, he had asked you to grab some food for him. He was lucky that he only stayed a few hours, you had thought about making him and Karma stay longer due to how crazy they have been.
You and Karma had to ensure that Asano made it home safely, not that you were complaining. It was the funniest and weirdest date you have ever been on with those two. After telling Asano to drink more water, and Karma telling him to drink from the toilet if he had to, the both of you made your way home.
Things with the both of them can just be so crazy sometimes.

Heat Exhaustion vs Heat Stroke
By a Red Cross certified first responder
After finding this post by @iinfernal I thought it may be helpful to lay out the symptoms of heat exhaustion vs heat stroke, so people can be aware of what to look for and what to do.
Heat Exhaustion
Heat exhaustion occurs when you lose excessive amounts of water, often from sweating. Other factors that can lead to heat exhaustion include:
Tight clothing
Dehydration
Alcohol consumption
The symptoms of heat exhaustion include:
General weakness
Fainting, lightheadedness, or dizziness
Increased heavy sweating
A weak but faster pulse/heart rate
Muscle cramps
Nausea or vomiting
As @iinfernal said, it can also be accompanied by general grouchiness or irritability.
Treatment for Heat Exhaustion
Heat exhaustion should be treated as a medical emergency. If you are experiencing heat exhaustion, you must take action to lower your body temperature or you will risk progressing to heat stroke, which can be fatal.
If you or a loved one is experiencing heat exhaustion:
Move to a cool, shaded area.
Sip water slowly. Don't chug your water bottle all at once, is what I mean. You are trying to avoid vomiting.
Loosen or remove tight clothing.
Cool the body by whatever means available to you. Misting, wet cloths, fanning, a cool bath, whatever.
Call your local emergency number if:
-- Symptoms persist for more than an hour.
-- Vomiting occurs
-- Confusion or a change in consciousness develops.
When I experienced heat exhaustion I was dizzy, vaguely nauseous, and felt like it was terribly important that I lay down somewhere cool and get out of the heat right then. I did not experience confusion. Some signs of confusion are:
Slurring words, incoherent speech
Lacking awareness of location or time
Forgetting what a task is while it is being performed
Sudden changes in emotion, such as sudden agitation
Heat Stroke
Heat stroke is the next stage of heat exhaustion. Someone who is experiencing heat stroke requires emergency medical care from a professional. Heat stroke can be fatal.
The symptoms of heat stroke include:
A high body temperature, over 104°
Hot, red, dry, or damp skin.
A fast, strong pulse.
Headache
Dizziness
Nausea
Confusion or passing out
If you are confused as to whether or not it is heat exhaustion or heat stroke, call your local emergency number.
Treatment for Heat Stroke
Heat stroke is a crisis situation. A person experiencing heat stroke requires medical treatment at once.
If someone is experiencing heat stroke:
Call your country's emergency number
Move to a cool place
Cool the body by whatever means available to you.
Do not offer anything to drink.
The best treatment for heat exhaustion and heat stroke is prevention. Wearing sunscreen, limiting time spent outside, wearing hats with wide brims, and making sure to stay hydrated are all tactics that can help prevent heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
Stay safe, everyone.

[source/chapter] are you kidding me...Akutagawa gets heat stroke from being outside in the hot weather with his coat on...Atsushi CARRIES HIM to the hospital...and then waits for him to wake up...and Akutagawa is so docile afterward 😭
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and at the beginning of the chapter, Atsushi passes out from the heat 😭 he's sitting in the shade to recover and Akutagawa is standing in direct sunlight...and Akutagawa is denying being affected by the heat 😭😭😭 and he's not sweating the whole time, unlike Atsushi was, which is a classic sign of heat stroke...

summer reminder that if you're heat intolerant or dealing with heat illness, it is okay to take off your mask, if you have to.
it is not your fault that the people around you refuse to wear their mask to protect you, themselves, and others. you are allowed to prioritze protecting yourself from heat illness, especially since heat stroke can kill you... much faster than COVID.
it's not fair at all that you'd have to expose yourself & others to the risk of a COVID infection even more. but it is not your fault. the people around us and the systems that governs us have failed. yet, you're still doing the best you can to be COVID conscious while still taking care of yourself.
that's all you can do. let the guilt go, and don't die from heat stroke. and for anyone who doesn't wear their mask when they can do so safely*: stop being neglectful and mask the fuck up.
*safely as in without distress or illness

ive read that heatstroke can cause sezuires but im wondering how bad it would have to be and if the person would have other issues beacuse of that?
So, unlike fevers (which max out at 104-106F) heatstroke can go a lot higher. Heat stroke "officially" starts at 105F core temp (about 104F oral temp) but increases rapidly if not treated. Change in mental status worsens as temperature rises, starting with confusion and agitation and worsening to delirium, seizures and coma (this is along with hot, dry, red skin and very high heart and respiration rate). At the point at which someone experiences seizures, they are likely also experiencing damage to their heart, muscles, kidneys, and brain, which gets worse the longer it is left untreated. If treated quickly (by basically dunking the person in cold water or packing their groin, neck, and armpits with cold packs), the damage might be minor enough to be unnoticeable. Even a few extra minutes left untreated can change this outcome, though.

Whumpee doing manual labor in the summer heat for minimum wage because they really need the money. They have some infected cuts and wounds from previous work, and the fever is exacerbated by their exertion and exposure to heat.
They’re sweating buckets, red-faced and delirious, hauling a heavy load when their vision goes fuzzy and dark. The world spins and their stomach churns. They drop what they were carrying and stumble, collapsing on the ground in a panting, sweaty, uncomfortable heap.
They wake up in the shade, feet propped up on a tool box, their upper body on a towel. Their coworker is sponging off their face and neck with a damp towel, calling Whumpee’s name and lightly patting their face to rouse them. They notice Whumpee stir, and promptly tilt their head up, pressing a thermos of ice water to their lips.
“There you are, that’s it. Slowly, now. Take it easy.”

Hello author!
2. 🏝☀️🥵🌡😵‍💫🤢🤮🚑 My idea is here with Jungkook sick and OT7 Caretakers, if possible! (I miss them :( So, they're enjoying a vacation together, in a private place. Its hot, and Jungkook cant handle well with it. He starts to feel week, dizzy and pale. Feeling like a low blood pressure. Everyone looks at him worried. Jungkook faints while drinking some water and after he's wakes and is a little conscious, throw up the water he has drank. The members get desperate and go rushing to a hospital, calling a ambulance, bc maybe jk gets a insolation
‐-------------------‐------‐‐----------------
Sick: Jungkook
Caretaker: OT7
Tw: emeto, vom**, puking, dizziness, fainting, heat stroke, mentions of hospital, ambulance called
Word count: 795
Emojis: 2. 🏝☀️🥵🌡😵‍💫🤢🤮🚑
Yayaya two people requested sick jk with this prompt so I combined them again!! I hope you enjoy and it's what you wanted!!
(I'm also unsure of how many more I'm going to write but I think around 2-3 more!)
‐-------------------‐------‐‐----------------
Searing heat, thick humidity, a private and breathtaking oasis by the beach. With only seven of them present, there are no intrusive cameras or rigid schedules, just pure relaxation. And that's why Jungkook is so upset he's not feeling well. The thought of ruining the holiday is ten times worse than the dizzying nausea and sweat trailing his back.
Jungkook's hand shakes as he brings a water bottle to his lips, he's hiding under his hair so the others can't see how pale and sickly he's looking (and feeling). They're at this small private beach, practically in the backyard of their temporary house. Taehyung and Jimin are playing about in the water, throwing soggy sand at each other. Jungkook was with them originally, playing in the warm, crystal-clear water before the heat started taking a toll on him.
He couldn't deny the nausea and slowly made his way back to the blanket and shade they set up. With every step, his legs felt like jelly, and the world was spinning around him. He plopped onto the blanket, and now he clutches onto the water bottle with his remaining strength.
The others are frolicking about in the sand and water, laughter a comforting sound. Jungkook hoped the shade would help but now he just feels isolated and achy. Just as he was about to take another sip of water, the beach towel rustles next to him. Jungkook turns to find Namjoon, who's sat down with a book in his hand, now looking at him with concern.
"Jungkook you don't look so good, are you feeling okay?" Namjoon reaches a hand to touch the youngest's cheek, feeling unnatural warmth. Jungkook tried to laugh it off, but it came out weak and shaky. "Yeah, I just need some rest." He replies, Namjoon isn't convinced. "No, Jungkook I think you should lay down. You really don't look good." Namjoon's brows pinch together. Jungkook swallows audibly, his head is really starting to pound.
Jungkook has no clue what Namjoon just said. His ears are buzzing and he's struggling to keep up right. He can see a few others start to walk over, confusion on their faces. He registers the water in his hand and goes to take a sip, but it just ends up spilling down his front. Woah, he doesn't feel good. He feels blood pumping in his ears before losing consciousness.
"—unkook! Jungkook, hey. Nono don't sit up—" Jungkook feels his stomach lurch, hands on his body and the worried voices of his bandmates. All he can do is whimper before throwing up to his side and then clutch the nearest person. "H-hyungie—" Jungkook cries, beads of sweat on his forehead. "Kookie, Kookie shh, calm down, Jinnie-hyung has called an ambulance. You're gonna be okay." Jimin smooths Jungkook's hair and Namjoon fans his face with his book.
"I'm gonna be sick- don' feel good.." Jungkook mumbles, Yoongi thinks quick and he grabs one of their empty snack containers and shoves it under his chin. Taehyung takes a bit of a clean towel and pours some water on it to rest at the back of Jungkook's neck and try cool him down. He burps and buries his face into the container.
He pukes clear liquid and Jimin trails his hand up and down his back. His head throbs with each gag and the bright sun still hurts his eyes even in the shade. Letting out a miserable groan, the others are jittery with worry. "Guys the ambulance is here, make room for them." Hoseok instructs and the members move out the way, except for Namjoon who holds Jungkook and the container steady.
Jungkook still manages to be shy and embarrassed as the paramedics check his vitals and ask a couple questions. "Jungkook-ssi how are you feeling right now? Still like before?" A middle aged woman asks, "n-not as bad.." Jungkook turns to Namjoon, hoping he can provide some more details. "He was super pale and dissociated. He's thrown up twice now but I think it was just the heat that got to him." Namjoon explains.
The paramedics strap something to Jungkook's arm and say that they should take him in to administer an IV. "So this is a mild case of heat stroke, two of you are able to ride with him to the hospital if you'd like." One of them suggests.
Seokjin and Taehyung are quick to volunteer and the others promise to meet them at the hospital. In the ambulance Jungkook feels a mixture of emotions, shy but also too sick to suppress his need for his hyung's dotting. He holds Taehyung's hand and asks Seokjin to play with his hair. Looking forward to feeling better, Jungkook vows to always stay hydrated when going to the beach.

TW: heat illness, medical
Whilst absolutely no one where I'm from will be thinking of this at this time of year, here is a reminder for whump writers that heat exhaustion and heat stroke are related but very different scenarios!
Heat exhaustion includes symptoms like a headache, dizziness, sweating, nausea/vomiting, thirst, pallor, and muscle cramps and can be treated by cooling down (passively by moving to a cooler area or actively with cold compresses) and drinking fluids.
Heat stroke is a medical emergency and requires you to call emergency services immediately. Its symptoms can overlap with heat exhaustion (e.g. headache, nausea/vomiting) but the person may lose consciousness and will no longer be sweating and will not be pale or cool to the touch as can be the case with heat exhaustion.

have the person lie down
elevate the person’s feat
if the person is conscious, given them cool water and have them sip it

Whumper purposefully chooses the hottest day of the month to make Whumpee do yard work. The sun burns their skin and sweat coats their body. They aren't allowed water or breaks until they finish. And if they pass out from heat exhaustion? Well, that's not Whumper's problem.
