──── JUST LET ME LOVE YOU, OKAY? ↳ one shot // also part of the no doubt series !
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
✎ᝰ .ᐟ aka the one where you come to a certain realization over some peach ice cream and a jacket.
── sim jaeyun x f!reader ౨ৎ wc. 783 ⌗ freaking fluff, literally nothing new it's just simp jaeyun back in action once again .
↳ IMPORTANT NOTE .ᐟ ── this is part of my no doubt series ─ a sequel series of short drabbles that take place after the events of my fic no doubt, and show jake & reader's relationship throughout their first year together (& how jake wins her trust & love back hehe) ── THIS CAN BE READ AS A ONE-SHOT, however, there will be some easter eggs if you've read no doubt before!
↳ addie's ✉ .ᐟ ── ok so i lowkey had an existential crisis with this one because i fear i've been too repetitive with how SIMPY our jake has been in these past few ones...but then i realized i love our certified lover boy jake and never want to say goodbye to jakeyn so i'm gonna milk this out as much as i can (jk we have six parts left chat help) in all seriousness though i promise next one we finally let jakey feel just as loved as yn is ;) ALSO !!! im gonna start taking nodoubt!jake & yn requests so i might post the first one after this part soon :D
Tumblr media
You’re shivering.
It’s entirely your fault.
Jake told you to bring a jacket. A hoodie, at least.
And you? Being the absolute genius that you are? Had insisted that you’d be fine and that you don’t need a jacket because you run warm and we’re only walking a little bit, anyways.
And Jake had looked at you. Looked at you.
With the face of a boyfriend who knew—deep in his bones—that this moment would come.
The moment in question?
Twenty minutes later, here you are—
Frozen solid, outside of a convenience store while Jake is at the counter paying for your snacks and ice cream.
Because, again, you’re a genius. And insisted on getting ice cream.
Genius.
Your arms wrap around yourself, your paper-thin sleeves doing absolutely nothing to protect you from the nighttime chill.
And, of course, because the universe loves to humble you, a gust of wind decides to cut through the air—and your entire existence—and you let out an actual whimper.
And before you can turn back towards the store—
Thump.
You blink.
You look down.
At the warm, heavy, oversized fabric now covering your shoulders.
Jake’s jacket.
You turn just in time to see him shoving his wallet back into his pocket, completely unfazed, like he’s casually not standing there in just his t-shirt in the cold.
“Jake.”
“Mhm?” He looks at you, all sweet and easy smiles as he takes your hand into his and starts walking next to you.
You hesitate.
Your fingers instinctively squeeze his.
“You’re not cold?”
A shrug. “Nah.”
You squint. “Liar. You definitely are.”
“Wow. So aggressive,” Jake dramatically clutches his chest with his free hand. “Why don’t you just say thank you, my incredibly selfless, devastatingly handsome, perfect boyfriend—”
“Oh my god,” you groan, smacking his arm—though it does absolutely nothing to stop his carefree laugh.
He reaches into the small plastic bag swinging from his forearm, pulls out your favorite peach-flavored ice cream sandwich, unwraps it, and hands it to you before casually draping his arm over your shoulder and pulling you into his side.
Tucking you perfectly into him.
Like he’s done this a thousand times and plans to do it a thousand more.
Like loving you is the most natural thing in the world.
And maybe it is.
Maybe it’s always been this easy—how he tucks you into his side without thinking, like you belong there. How he carries the bag with both your favorite snacks like there was never any question of who’d be holding it.
And maybe—
It’s always been this easy to love him.
Your chest tightens.
“Jake—” you swallow, staring down at the ice cream in your hand, “You really don’t have to keep doing all this.”
Jake glances down at you, brows raised, “All what?”
“All…this,” you wave your ice cream vaguely in his direction, like that explains anything (it doesn’t). “The jacket. The snacks. Every tiny little thing you’re always doing for me.”
Jake frowns. His head tilts slightly—confused, like the concept is foreign. Like it genuinely hadn’t occurred to him that this might be something worth pointing out.
And then—
“…But I like doing those things.”
You almost miss a step.
“Yeah, but—”
“Y/N.”
Jake stops walking.
You stop walking.
And when you turn to face him, he just sighs, taking your face in both his hands, shaking his head with a small smile.
One of those barely-there, eyes-too-soft, I-love-you-so-much-I-don’t-know-what-I’m-going-to-do-with-you kind of smiles.
And then, in the gentlest voice—
“Just let me love you, okay?”
Your throat closes.
You might cry.
Because god, he says it so simply.
Like it’s not the overwhelming, tangled, terrifying thing the way you make it.
Like it’s not complicated or conditional.
Like it’s just true.
You stare at him, frozen. Blinking. Trying to breathe around the ache in your ribs.
And Jake?
Jake just laughs under his breath, like he sees right through you. He shakes his head again before leaning down to press the lightest kiss to your temple.
He pulls back slightly, just enough to look at you—but you don’t let him get far.
And for a second, you just stand there, eyes on each other.
No explanations. No grand declarations.
Just that quiet kind of knowing.
That this is it.
That this has always been it.
And as the truth settles into your bones, as the warmth of it finally overpowers the fear, you know—
You love him.
You love Jake so much it hurts. So much it heals.
And as he finally gently tugs you forward, lacing his fingers with yours like it’s second nature—
You think you might let him love you, after all.

“Take a couple of bucks, turn ’em into millions.” A quote you've lived by since you could remember. Your father would tell you to go about life as freely as possible unless money was involved. You had a duty to follow given you were the daughter of a government official. You may have been the media's sweetheart but that didn’t mean you couldn’t have fun and have secrets. Much less a secret life.
The drive home from the gallery was smooth and not as busy despite it being 7pm on a thursday. Pulling up to your gate you type in your code and drive along your driveway admiring the scenery filled with trees and greenery as your house comes into view and you can stop getting out.
Once inside your home you are met with your cat Aang.
“Hi baby boy,” you lift him up, earning a few meows of annoyance because he was picked up. Letting out a small giggle, you put him down as you head upstairs to grab some clothes as you head to your shower turning the handle on letting it heat it up before getting in. The hot water hitting your body you couldn’t help but sigh, the feeling soothing your muscles making you close your eyes taking it all in as you listen to the waterfall. You feel on cloud nine, you're soon dragged out of it as your phone starts blowing up making you finish up and get out. Grabbing it you notice various calls and texts from your friends.
A- HELLOOOOOO
WHY AREN’T YOU ANSWERING
R- Please tell me your ass is getting ready.
J- She better be.
I swear if she takes forever like last time…
Y- Oh hey, nice to see you three too.
Will you calm your asses down.
I just got out of the shower!
A- Oh worm ? 👀
J- Can we see?
R- Proof or it didn’t happen.
Y- Goodbye losers.
You giggle as they spam you pleading to see something. When you got a notification that caught your attention even more. Clicking the notification you open the chat and then your camera.
Y- Miss me?
You sent, followed by a picture of your lips and below as the towel hung on you loosely.
H- Evening to you too sweetheart. Miss me that much?
Y- It’s been a week, of course I did.
Where’d you run off to this time?
H- Business trip.
You nodded at the message, he was a busy man. A rich man at that. Harry Castillo, Job description: Private Equity and Sugar Daddy, your sugar daddy. Funny enough you both lived in the same state and never once crossed paths in the city. Hearing the ping of your phone you frown at the message before you.
H- Frankly things may have to slow down between us from this point on.
Y- Oh? How come?
H- Just some things have come up, making it harder to talk with you. Nothing towards you of course.
Y- I’ll miss you
H- It's still up in the air. We’ll talk soon.
Setting your phone back down, you finished getting ready. Curling the final piece of hair, applying lipstick to your lips you made your way back down the stairs. Throwing your boots on, you looked yourself over in the mirror, you looked hot. After taking a few pictures and posting to various social medias about your nightly adventure you head out the door.
The group was picking you up so as you walked down your steps you were met with various whoops and whistles. As you gave them a spin and pose as they hyped you.
“Any louder and the neighbors will hear.” you roll your eyes giggling.
“The nearest one is for miles.” Jackson says.
“That would mean they’ve heard other things now wouldn't it.” Astrid retorted, making everyone laugh.
You shook your head, smirking to yourself as you got in the suv.
“You know..maybe we should stay in.” Roxanne says playfully as she wiggles her eyebrows at you.
“Rox stop flirting and drive.” Jackson yelled from the back, making you laugh.
“I need a drink so let's go.” Astrid hurried.
Pulling up to NOIR you were met with the usual blue and purple lights, loud music, people body to body and drinks flowing. You walked to your usual spot just center right with a view right next to the dance floor, the girls and Jackson not too far behind coming to join you. Once the drinks arrived there was no stopping you and the way you downed them. By the time your buzz hit you were already on the dance floor. You danced for what seemed like hours. As you moved to the beat with a random girl, you felt hands sneak around your waist. Tilting your head back you were met with Astrid.
“Was wondering when one of you was gonna get out here.” you danced against her, her hands gripping your hips.
“You seemed lonely.” She whispered in your ear.
“Oh so funny.” You said playfully.
“J and Rox were making out so I couldn't witness it anymore.” She confessed, making you giggle.
“You wanna head outside for a bit?” You turn to face her.
“Yeah, I could use the fresh air,” she says, dragging you away towards the outdoor patio.
The air was cool, the breeze helping you relax as you were handed a glass.
“It’s just water.” Astrid smiled.
“Thank you.” You took the water drinking it immediately, the chilly liquid sending shivers through your body. Setting the glass down you people watched for a bit from your seat looking out into the city when your phone rang.
“Who is it?” Astrid asked.
“My mom?” You got up walking away to answer.
“Hello?” You answered.
“Hi mi amor,” she answered, making you smile.
“Hola mami, it’s late. You’re not asleep yet?”
“Was just heading to bed shortly but remembered I needed to call you.”
“What’s up?” Nervousness settling in.
“With your birthday coming up there is something we need to discuss with you.”
“Is everything okay?”
“Yes, but we’ll discuss this all.” She paused. “Tomorrow? Over dinner? 6pm.”
“I will see you then.”
Hanging up the phone you returned back to your spot, Rox and J sobered up and now beside Astrid.
“Anything interesting?” Astrid said, taking a drag from her cigarette.
“Pretty sure I’m being cut off.” You joke.
“Everything okay?” Jackson looks at you.
“I don’t know, she asked to meet tomorrow at their place for dinner to talk about something important.” You shrug. “Plan my funeral I guess.”
Your comment makes them laugh.
“I’m sure it’ll be fine.” Rox chimes in. “What’s the worst that could happen?”
“Yes because being the daughter of a government official who parties and has a sugar daddy doesn’t scream kicked out of the will.” You joke.
“No else knows about that though,” Astrid says. “It’s just us.”
“And it better stay that way.” You point at the three of them.
“How is the heartthrob of the century anyways.” Rox asks.
“Finally got back to me after a week.” You shrugged. “Busy man.” J said.
“He said things are gonna have to slow down with us.” You add. “So I think I was also just dumped by him?”
You look confused.
“Damn.”
“Too good to be true that one.”
“I should get home anyways.” You say, drinking the rest of your water and signing off on your tab. “It’s already 4am and I need sleep.”
“Booo!” They all protested before getting up to hug you as your driver pulled up.
“Call us if you need anything.”
“Update us too.”
Was all you heard as you got in the car and off home you went.
Tumblr media
It was 2:40pm by the time you woke up, you had about two hours to get ready and hit the road to your parents house. Moving out was a nice way to enjoy your freedom but the hour drive just to see your parents wasn’t the best choice. Walking to your kitchen you were met with an angry Aang.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry.” You pet him. “Is the prince famished?”
You joke prepping his food and serving it to him watching the way he ate before making yourself something small to hold you over. Taking your snack with you upstairs you got in the shower to refresh after last night's drinking activities. Once out you walk to your closet to assess different options. It was only dinner with your parents but you couldn’t help but feel something else was coming from it all as you decided on a flowy midi skirt with a small slit along the side and the matching tube top and some heels. It was simple but perfect at the same time. Makeup was kept light with your signature red lip, hair in its natural wavy state.
The drive up was a pain given the after work traffic but soon died down when the scenery changed and you recognized your parents neighborhood, it went from simple suburb to gated off and code entry. As your driver pulled around the water fountain out front you took notice of there being more cars than usual outside. You only had 2 siblings, a sister and a brother and this was way more than their usual vehicles when in town. Opening the door you were met with Lucien, your family’s head of security.
“Miss, fancy seeing you.” He smiled as you went in for a hug.
“I’ve missed you.” You let go of the embrace. “Where is everyone?”
“Out back.” He pointed. “Your mother insisted it be outside to capture the sunset.”
“Figures.” You nod thanking him as you walk throughout your once home. The sound of your heels clicking against the marble floors was all you could hear, it wasn’t until you neared the patio door you heard music and people talking. As you turned the knob of the door you were met with your brother and niece. Making you jump.
“You’re here!” He said excitedly, hugging you at your side not to squish the baby.
“Hello to you too.” You smile as your niece babbles at you.
“They’re all waiting for you.” He pointed out the door.
You nod making your way, turning the corner you see the tent and there being tons of people.
“Some family dinner…” you say under your breath as you walk towards them all, your father being the first to see you.
“Mijita!” He exclaims happily rushing towards you, wrapping you in a big hug. “I've missed you.”
“I missed you too.” You giggle at his excitement. “Where’s mami? She said it was important.”
“Follow me.” He smiles offering his hand which you take. He guides you down the trail towards the garden.
“Pa?” You ask as your dad stops walking just before turning the corner towards the gazebo, “What’s going on?”
“Let your mother explain.” Is all he says before letting you walk alone. As you come around the corner you see your mother waiting for you.
“There you are.” She beams. “Walk with me.”
“What’s going on?” You couldn’t help but ask once again.
“You dressed nice, that’s good.” She looked over your outfit. “You look pretty.”
“Thank you,” you replied. “That still doesn’t answer my question.”
“Do you remember when you were 5 and we took that vacation to Athens?” She looked at you.
“Vividly, but yes.” You respond, stopping when she did and turned to you.
“Do you remember the boy you couldn’t stop following around?” She asked another question. “The boy from the family we met that vacation.”
You shake your head, “I’m not following.”
“The point I’m trying to make is we didn’t meet their family that day, it was planned.” She continued. “We were discussing yours and his engagement.”
“My what?” You look confused.
“You knew this time was coming,” her voice was more serious. “Your marriage has been planned and we figured it was time to meet.”
You noticed your father now behind you both and a man beside him.
“Meet,” You turn to your father and are met with. “Harry.”
Looking between your parents and then back at him you can’t help the shocked expression on your face as you stare at the man you’d been communicating with for almost a year now. It started to make sense now as to why he cut communication.
“Hi.” He smiled down at you.
“Hey.” You stood there awkwardly.
“Harry.” He took your hand.
“Y/n” you watch him shake your hand holding it a little longer as you stare at each other.
“We’ve given him your number and schedule. So you can see eachother often.” you mom says, making you whip your head at her.
“That’s great.” You give a fake smile, dropping his hand.
“Dinner should be ready, we’ll see you there?” Your dad says leaving you alone with him.
“Well they’re lovely.” He says breaking the silence.
“I—yeah. They are something.” You fidget with your hands. “I’m sorry about them.”
You immediately apologize on their behalf.
“No need.” He smiled, “Mien couldn’t be just as happy given my brother is married now.”
“I can agree to that.” You nod, silence taking over.
“We should probably join them.” He offers to try and ease you, making you nod.
“Lead the way.” You give a small smile.
Following him back through the garden and back to the tent you take notice of your parents with whom you presume are him.
“There they are!” Your parents exclaim. His parents are smiling and bringing you in for a hug.
“This is the start of something special.” His mother said.
If only you knew..
Tumblr media
Days had passed since the dinner and marriage drop. It was a lot dropped on you and not to mention it was Harry of all people. You’re to marry the man you had a transactional “relationship” with behind your parents back and now you’re set to marry him. You’d made it your mission to stay occupied, always be at the gallery, out on walks or at the gym or like tonight you’d find yourself in your studio for the evening. You were helping a small known girl group and were working on a few routines for a showcase they were to be doing in a few months.
“Mara, you need to relax a little more. Don’t think about it so much.” you say to the girls. “Focus on the music and let it take you. You gotta think of your limbs as jello in order to flow better, Got it?” you looked between them all.
They all nod.
“Good, now Yuli I need you to work on your solo, the rest of you take a break for now.” you smile at them as they all disperse doing their own things.
“I think I get most of it but it's the part just before dropping that I fall to my ass.” she sighs.
You nod knowing what she means. Though the one to suggest it you understood, hesitation mixed with fear could be the main reason.
Standing in front of the mirror as you talk over what she has to do before showing her.
“Alright now pay attention.” you point to her as the music begins.
You let the music play, doing the moves up until the chorus.
I know you’re trying, but you’ll never unravel me…
Jumping into your dancer persona you run a hand down your body seductively and slowly, as you move your hips enticingly from your spot on the chair as you drop down on it. Bouncing slighting.
Unravel me, unravel
Unravel me, unravel
Rolling your hips forward while running a hand through your hand. You push up and off the chair instantly, dropping down to the floor as you grind slightly. Raising your bum, you move it left to right, shaking it a bit as you hit the floor a few times flipping to your back. Raising your hips you run your hands on your thighs before the other dancers come over flipping it to your feet to carry on the rest of the routine with the dancers. Nearing the end of the dance you whine your body as the music ends you pose, one of the dancers holding your thigh as your leg is bent a bit, another has her mouth near your neck. You couldn’t help but giggle at something one of them said before they let down and you go to get a drink of water as the girls cheer for you making you bow as they go quiet which was odd for them.
“Why are you guys so-” you stop mid sentence as you turn around.
“You know this,” he starts to say before shaking his head coming your way. “That was something.”
He is now standing in front of you.
“Oh really now?” you raise a brow, lifting your head slightly up at him.
He nods, smirking looking down to meet your eyes, not breaking eye contact. “What brings you to my studio Castillo?” you cross your arms. “I’m in the middle of a practice.”
“I can see that, but come on. Harry is fine.” he smiles. “Just thought I’d stop by to bring you some snacks and invite you out for food and maybe a drink.”
“I see,” you nod, noticing the way he looks around as if he’d see the place before somewhere, “Well I got a session to finish, pick me up in an hour?”
He smiles, taking your hand kissing it, he waves bye to the girls then leaves.
The girls start giggling like crazy.
“He’s so into you.” Mari says.
“If only I was a few years older.” Nani says dramatically, sighing.
“Y/n he is too fine.” Kali whistles.
“Yah you guys are too immature for him and the situation with him is—complicated.” you point at them. “Now let's continue so you guys have some free time for the night. And I can plan my eventful evening.”
You giggle, sticking your tongue out as they throw towels at you.
You continue their practice for another three or so hours before ending the session and saying goodbyes and heading to change and shower before you lock up, say goodbye to the security and head right out the door as you see Harry standing right outside the vehicle waiting.
“Fancy.” You look over the sleek black car he stood in front of.
“Shall we?” He asked, holding the door open for you. Getting in he slid in next to you. You couldn’t help the way your nerves rose when his knee touched yours. This is the same man that’s seen you nude and in scandalous ways through picture and video. The same man that would send you money just for talking to him. Yet here you were nervous as can be in the back seat next to the same you’re now supposed to marry.
As you say through dinner with him you felt yourself relax some but still couldn’t help the feeling deep down of wanting to tell him the truth. He was currently talking about himself some as you listened on despite knowing almost everything about him. You watched as he picked up the check with ease.
“I’m impressed.” You say.
“And why is that?” He looks at you.
“You’re putting in a lot for someone you just met” you sip your wine. “Much less someone you only just found out you’re to marry.”
“We’re meant to be spending the rest of our lives together. It’s common courtesy for the man to treat his woman to be.” He says, the smoothness in his voice just almost convincing you.
“Treating her is a privilege, getting to know and cherish her is a lifetime. Get to know me, for me and maybe we’ll actually have a deal.” You smile.
“A challenge.” He nods. “Maybe you got yourself a deal.”
“I’ll hold you to it Castillo.” You shake on it watching the way he kisses your hand, there’s a hesitation in it. Almost like he’s forcing himself to be affectionate. A flaw perhaps? Maybe he’s not the perfect man after all.
As you laid in bed you couldn’t help but ponder his hesitation but also in the back of your mind you couldn’t help but come up with a plan out of your little situation. The plan of seeing how long it took before either he cracked or you did on who confessed first over the mystery relationship you two shared. Reaching for your phone you sat up. Opening the familiar app you began typing.
I thought about your offer of parting ways. Maybe there’s a way to solidify this a little longer? You know I can’t stop thinking of you for longer than a day. Compromise for me? xx 💋
Attached was a mirror picture of yourself. Within minutes you received a reply.
Anything you’d like, just say the words :)
Game on Castillo. Game on.

Doctor's In - Part 14
Summary: The universe (and some people) conspire to reunite you with Wanda.
“Y/N” Wanda says, and your heart beats faster.
“Hey. Hi. How…”
How are you? is such an idiotic question to ask. You clear your throat, running your fingers through your hair.
“What’s up?”
Ok, that’s worse.
“Sorry for bothering you, I wasn’t… I wasn’t thinking clearly. Tommy ran away…”
“Wait, he what? Hold on, I’ll call you when I’m at the airport”
“No, no” Wanda pleads, regretting her choice of words. “He’s safe. I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you”
“Ok. Maybe lead with that next time?” you sigh, collapsing in the sofa.
Wanda laughs and it makes your heart swoon. And ache.
“You’re right, I’m so sorry. Like I said… I wondered if he might have been in touch with you or something and that’s why I called. But he’s safe now”
“I haven’t spoken to them since I left” you say in a small voice, and Wanda falls silent for a moment.
“They ask about you all the time”
“I think about them all the time”
And about you.
“Anyways. Sorry for scaring you and interrutpting”
“Just watching a movie” you say, knowing she’s referring to Natasha. Though you don’t owe her an explanation.
You both stay silent and you have to hold back tears.
“Uh, sorry about leaving my stuff. I could get someone to pick them up. I’m not going back to Westview until Carol’s wedding in April” you say.
“No, that’s fine. Don’t worry about it, leave them here and just come over when you’re in town” Wanda says, disappointed to hear that you don’t have any immediate plans to come back to Westview.
“Ok, thanks. I should…”
“I follow Jenny on instagram” Wanda says, clearly ignoring your attempt to end the conversation.
“Really?” you play dumb. “You know I don’t have social media, so we just text”
“She posted a picture of you. And your brother I assume?”
“Zach, yeah. She’s applying to NYU, so we had a weekend there. The usual, Broadway, baseball. It was fun”
“It looked like fun, yeah” Wanda nods, remembering how much joy it brought her to see you again.
You looked fine. A little tired, but the smile was there, maybe because your sister was hugging you close while your brother made a face.
Of course they’d love you, even if you hadn’t been in contact for years. You are amazing.
And Wanda fucked it up. She stares at the ring, still thinking about whether or not to tell you she found it.
“Y/N…”
There’s the distinct sound of a pager and you sigh.
“Great. I’m sorry, I have to go”
“I understand” Wanda says. “You take care of yourself now, ok?”
“Bye, Wanda”
You hang up, because you can’t stand the idea of saying goodbye to her. Is this really how it ends? A stupid phone conversation and you taking back boxes of clothes in a few months.
You wish you could call her back and tell her this is bullshit, she was an ass and so were you, but you can work through it.
But you don’t, because you’re scared of what she has to say.
So you leave for work, thinking about her voice, her laugh, her lips on your skin.
And how the memories are all that’s left of your life together.
Wanda stares at the phone. Just when she had gathered the courage to tell you about the ring, you hung up.
Maybe it was for the best.
What would you even say? That you planned on proposing and then Wanda ruined everything? Hurt you, destroyed your relationship beyond repair.
Knowing about the ring didn’t change things, not on your side.
Wanda sat on the porch, holding on to the ring box. She opens it again, amazed at how beautiful and perfect it is. It was obvious you had put so much thought into picking the right ring.
“Señor Scratchy!” Agatha calls for him, around the corner. “Why didn’t Rio give me a freakin fish instead? Hey, Wanda”
“Hi, Agatha. Your bunny again?”
“Yeah, he likes to escape. Heard you have one of those as well” she smiles, referring to Tommy.
“How did you…?”
“Oh, haven’t you heard” the woman keeps chatting as she looks around, hoping to spot the animal. “Your mom and I are besties. I was just with Mrs. Davies”
Of course.
“I think he’s right here” Wanda thinks she spots the bunny, moving forward. She tries to catch him with both hands, but ends up dropping the box, revealing the ring.
“Damn, that’s nice” Agatha whistles, picking it up and examining it. “Family heirloom?”
“No, not exactly” Wanda shakes her head, picking up the bunny and hugging him close to her chest.
Agatha sits next to her, still looking at the ring.
“So, she was proposing. Come on, it doesn’t take a genius to know” she says when Wanda gives her a look.
“God, I screwed up so bad” Wanda shakes her head. “She left for good and I won’t ever be able to fix this”
“Did she really?”
“What?”
“Leave? For good. Don’t you have all her clothes here? If she was done, she would have taken them out, changed her number, thrown the ring into the river” Agatha argues, placing the box down.
“I hurt her too much. She’ll never forgive me”
“Are we talking about the same Y/N? The one that brought medicine to that old lady down the street even if she was a homophobic demon?”
“Agatha, don’t speak ill of the dead” Wanda says, though Mrs. Miller was the worst person she ever met.
“Well, she’s in a warmer place now. But anyway! That’s not the point. You can stay here and cry all day or you can at least try. You’re assuming the worst and that’s what led you here, isn’t it?”
“Well…”
“Get your sorry ass from the floor and do something about it, Maximoff! Get the girl back” Agatha says, shaking Wanda by the shoulders.
“Ok, ok! I’ll think of something”
“Good girl. Now hand me back my bunny. We’re past our bedtime”
Darcy’s walking down the hallway when she gets a text from you.
Y/N: Out on a sidequest, call you later. Love ya
“Who does she think she is, deciding when I get to scold her?” she complains. The brunette is so busy typing out a response that she misses the man that almost crashes into her.
“So sorry. I’m looking for Chief Fury”
“Job interview?” she says, arching her eyebrow.
“Yes, for Head of Trauma”
“Right. Well, I’m sorry that no one told you before, but that position’s been taken. Better luck next time…” she dismisses the man, the way she’s been tricking the few people who have been meeting the chief.
Darcy’s always looking for a way to sabotage the interviews, either by lying and saying the position’s closed or by feeding them false information. Like Fury likes to be greeted with two kisses, one on each cheek.
That was a fun day.
The man walks away, and she’s about to reply to you when someone calls her from the corner.
“Psss”
Darcy looks around, her eyes meeting Rio’s. This is gonna be interesting.
“What’s up, girl?”
“I know someone who is looking to form an alliance… to bring Y/N back” she whispers, and then smiles like a psycho. “She wants to speak to you”
“If it’s Wanda…”
“Nope. Do you agree to a meeting? I’ll set it up”
Darcy thinks about it for a second, considering if it’s worth it. She should at least get to know her potential ally.
“Fine. But I’m not meeting them in a dark alley”
“I’ll arrange it”
Darcy is about to change her mind when Chief Fury calls for her. In the split second it takes her to look back at her boss, Rio has completely vanished.
“You wouldn’t happen to have seen a doctor that was coming for an interview?”
“No, and boy, look at the time, it’s appy hour at Stark Hospital!” she glances at her wrist watch. “See ya around, boss!”
“You can’t keep sending them home, Lewis! We need a new Head of Trauma” Fury says.
“Totally, good luck with that!”
“Ready?”
“No” you say, refusing to leave the dressing room. You see Darcy typing but then her text is never sent. She’s probably working.
Which is what you’d rather be doing instead of trying on dresses.
“Come out now” Natasha commands, and her tone leaves little room for argument.
“Fine”
You stumble awkwardly out of the changing room, not used to wearing dresses.
“I look stupid” you complain, and Natasha supresses a laugh. “I’m not going!”
That makes her jump.
“You look fine!”
“It’s not my style. And why are you picking out dresses for me?”
“Because I already have mine, and I know what will match” Natasha explains, handing you another one. “Try this one”
Before you can protest, Yelena jumps out, admiring herself on the mirror.
“My boobs look great in this!”
“Yeah, they do” you nod, which earns you a slap on the arm by Natasha. “Hey, I’m just being supportive. Unlike that bra she’s wearing”
“I’m not wearing a bra. I think it will look better that way” she comments.
“No, you just want to piss off mother” Natasha says, leaning against the wall. She waits until you step out to help pull your zipper up. “See? You clean up nice”
“I still don’t like it” you mutter. “I’m a pants kinda gal through and through”
Yelena has settled on her dress, which makes you feel pressured to pick something. So you just let Natasha decide and walk with her to the register.
“I’m paying for it”
“Nu-uh”
“You’re going as a favor to me”
“It’s an open bar, you will regret inviting me”
You try to reach for her hand and drop her credit card, but she’s faster. And infuriating. The struggle makes you lose your footing, dropping to the floor.
“You’re both idiots” Yelena steps over you to pay for her clothes.
As Natasha helps you up, you look at a shop across the street.
“Wow, those are pretty cool”
“Huh…” Natasha looks you up and down, evaluating the possibilities. “Leave that dress. We’re finding something else”
Wanda’s looking at her phone again. Ekaterina and Pietro share a look, knowing something’s up.
Everyone’s home today, even if it’s a school day. Considering everything that happened yesterday, Wanda thought it might be a good idea to let the kids stay, watch movies and have some family time.
Though she still has to go to a meeting with Laura. The book is getting published soon and there are events they have to plan, like readings at bookshops or libraries.
It was Wanda’s favorite part about releasing a new book. And the worst thing is she was looking forward to having you by her side, to share all the things that happen while doing it.
“Gotta go meet Laura. I won’t be long” she announces, and is pleasantly surprised when the twins rush to hug her goodbye. “Let’s all go out for dinner, what do you guys think?”
“Yeah, sounds fun” Tommy says, going back to the couch where he’s playing videogames with Pietro.
Before starting her drive, she breathes deeply and decides to just pull the plug. So, she sents you a message and hopes you’ll answer.
Wanda has to remind herself that you’re probably busy and that’s why there’s no reply when she parks outside of her friend’s office.
“Hey, how are you doing?” Laura goes straight to hug her. “I’m happy Tommy’s ok”
“Yeah, we’re all good. Just hoping things get better soon”
“Of course. Honestly, we don’t have to talk about the promo tour today, you should go home and spend time with them, Wanda”
“No, that’s fine. I could use the distraction” she nods, pulling out her laptop.
For the next hour, they go over the calendar, deciding which events will take priority. It’s a month and a half away, but Wanda knows time flies when you have to meet a deadline.
“There’s one last thing” Laura says, trying to sound normal. “And listen, just give it some thought, ok?”
“What is it?”
“You know Wendy Lawson, right?”
“The legendary author? Of course I do. Who doesn’t?”
“She’s working on a new book, and she asked specifically about you to illustrate it” Laura says, with a very distinct lack of enthusiasm.
“Ok, that’s amazing! That’s every artist’s dream. Why are you making it sound like a bad thing?” Wanda says, confused.
“Well, here’s the thing. She doesn’t want to just do everything over video calls or anything else. Wendy is asking for you to go back and forth to review designs in person. And it’s right before the tour, so… it’s gonna be a hassle”
Wanda realises a second later that Wendy Lawson is currently living in Boston.
“I’ll do it” she says, her mind racing with ideas.
She could go and look for you, try to talk face to face. Fix everything, or at the very least try.
This seems like more than a coincidence.
It’s meant to be.
“Really? What about the kids?”
“Well, it doesn’t look like my mother is planning on leaving anytime soon. And seeing as this is a once in a lifetime opportunity…”
“Yeah, it is. Alright, then let’s set up a meeting with her team. I do think you have to speak with her editor first, but they’ll be happy to fly you to Boston” Laura says, shocked that it took no effort to convince Wanda. This really was a great opportunity, but all things considered, she was expecting a very firm no on her friend’s side.
“Great” Wanda says, putting her things away. “It’s settled then”
She feels very optimistic once she gets in the car.
It’s even better when you finally reply to her text.
The music’s loud as she drives home, but for the first time it isn’t to keep her from thinking about you. It’s just because she’s happy.
Darcy’s not sure this is a good idea.
She’s sitting at the diner like Rio told her, with her back to the door.
“Whatever you do, don’t look at the people coming in. They want to remain in the shadows” Rio had said with a somber expression.
Maybe it was all a prank.
But still, she hears the door open and close, and then someone is sitting on the booth behind her, and she’s back to back with her mysterious ally.
“Doctor Darcy Lewis?” a woman says.
“Yes” Darcy frowns. “Who am I speaking to?”
“That is not important, Doctor Lewis. What’s important is that we share a common goal”
“Bring Y/N back”
“With Wanda” the mystery woman adds.
“Now wait a minute!” Darcy snaps, ignoring the warning of not looking at the woman. “Nu-uh. I don’t give a damn if she gets back with Wanda. In fact, I don’t think she deserves her, not after all the shitty things she said to my friend”
“Love is complicated, Doctor”
“Is it now, Mrs. Maximoff?” Darcy glares.
The woman sighs, moving to Darcy’s booth and sitting in front of her.
“How did you know?”
“Gut feeling. Plus you have the same eyes” the brunette crosses her arms, ready to continue arguing. “Like I said, I want my friend back because this is where she belongs. Whatever the deal is between her and Wanda is none of my concern. Especially because she’s the reason Y/N left in the first place”
“And you don’t think they can fix it?” the woman asks. It sounds like she really wants to know, considering Darcy is your best friend and knows you better than anyone.
And truth is, you were really happy with Wanda. It felt like you had found a place in the world, with a family that loved you.
“Maybe. I know Y/N still loves Wanda. That’s why she ran away. She was probably scared to ask Wanda to work it out and have her slam the door in her face”
“Yes, well, my daughter isn’t particularly good at dealing with rejection either” Ekaterina sighs.
“Fine. If it means I get my best friend back I can work with you. But I won’t put in a good word for Wanda unless I’m convinced she’ll do better”
“That’s fair”
“So, let’s get some food. Seems like we have a lot of planning to do” Darcy says, smiling at the other woman.
It’s all moving surprisingly fast. As in, Wanda already has a flight booked for Friday, returning early Saturday.
Her mother takes the news surprisingly well.
“Mama, if it’s too much work I’m sure I can get a babysitter…”
“A stranger to look after my boys!” Ekaterina sighs, exasperated. “I’m not that old, malyshka. I can handle it for two days”
“Alright, if you’re sure…”
“Yes. Now I have to take my daily walk. Come, little dog” she calls for Sparky, who is eager to get out of the house.
There’s a reason behind it, though. She needs to call her secret ally and update her on the news.
“Darcy here” the brunette greets. “I know you’re calling to scold me, but I haven’t been able to convince her to come back for Carol’s fake bridal shower”
“That won’t be necessary. Wanda’s going to Boston”
“Damn, you’re good. How did you get her to do it?” Darcy says.
“Oh, the universe works in mysterious ways. It’s actually something about work but it might be a good chance for them to meet. Can you find out what Y/N is doing this week? I’ll try to convince Wanda to meet her”
“Wait, when did you say she was going to Boston?”
“Oh… you heard already” Kate Bishop comes out of nowhere. “I-I’m sorry, I meant to tell you sooner, and it’s only going to be a week, I promise I’ll come back”
“Bishop, what are you babbling about?” Darcy interrupts, frowning. She’s definitely not as patient as you were with the resident.
“I thought you knew about me going to Boston for a few days. Just to observe the kidney transplant. Yelena invited me”
“Ok, hold on. Ekaterina, we have someone on the inside”
“Inside of what? You Americans and your vulgar…”
“Gotta call you back” Darcy hangs up, pulling Kate along. “Ok, tell me everything you’re supposed to do. If you want Y/N back to teaching you, you have to agree to be our doble agent”
“Our?”
“That’s not important” Darcy dismisses her question. “Now speak”
Wanda: Do you have a moment to chat?
Y/N: Hey, I’m going to join a surgery. Can call in a few hours.
Y/N: Everything ok?
Wanda has been texting you here and there to ask about small stuff. It’s always something related to things you were in charge of, like Sparky’s vet appointments or her car’s maintenance.
If it makes her life easier, you’re more than happy to help. It’s the least you could do.
Except today. She texted early and you honestly didn’t check your phone. Now calls aren’t coming through either.
“Hey, Kate” you greet at the front desk, still looking at your phone. “Checked my post ops yet? There’s this guy in room 1045 that I need to…”
Wait a damn minute.
You finally look up.
“Hi” your former resident greets with a smile and you finally snap out of it.
This is Boston. Kate doesn’t work here.
“What are you… is Darcy here?” you look around, knowing your friend is capable of kidnapping you if that’s what it takes.
“No, I’m here because Yelena invited me to see the kidney transplant” she rushes to explain. “Also, hi Doctor Y/L/N. It’s good to see you”
“Call me Y/L, I’m not your superior anymore. And yeah, right back at you” you smile at her. You’re about to say goodbye as you have some patients to check still but she speaks again.
“We all miss you. Barnes and Doctor Lewis fight all the time”
“That sounds about right. I miss everyone too” you admit with a sad smile. “Anyway, gotta check on post ops. See you there”
It’s a little freaky, to see Kate in the midde of a hospital that is not Stark. Like you’re having deja vu or something. It almost feels like you’ll run into Darcy next, or get a surprise visit from Wanda to drop off some cookies.
Stop it.
You need to focus. All eyes are on the hospital for the next few days as they’ll perform the second xenotransplant. It’s amazing, really. A genetically-edited pig kidney into a living recipient.
And although you’re not in the surgical team, you are allowed in the OR to observe and help.
“You’ll never believe who I ran into” you say when you spot Natasha. “Kate. She said Yelena invited her”
“Huh. Do you think that she’s also her date to the gala?” Natasha frowns. In that precise moment, Yelena walks by, making you both turn to look at her. Without saying anything, you run after her, Natasha close behind.
You manage to catch up, blocking her path and making sure Natasha doesn’t let her escape either.
“I don’t have time to play games”
“Is it because you’re little girlfriend is already here?” you mock.
“What?”
“Kate Bishop” Natasha clarifies.
“That is not… you don’t even know what… сука! Both of you” Yelena blushes. Natasha and you laugh at her expression, and she uses the distraction to walk around you. She makes sure you get to see her flipping you off before disappearing around the corner.
“Are you ready?” Natasha asks, turning her attention towards you.
“Yeah. I’m just observing, never been to one”
“I meant the gala”
“Oh, that. I’ve never been to one of those either”
“Just eat, drink, laugh” Natasha eases your nerves. “Mother is the only one giving a speech. She wants to let everyone know we’re doing another transplant”
“Wait, but why would she schedule the surgery after the gala? Is it because post op is a lot of work?”
“You know the rejection risk is higher with genetically altered organs” Natasha explains. “If the gala happens before the surgery, she can just mention we are doing it. Now, if it goes wrong, it won’t be part of the speech”
“Oh, ok”
“It’s all politics” she says, understanding you’re career has never been about that.
“Well, I’ll see you in the penthouse? Don’t know if the lovebirds are riding with us”
“Seven thirty” Natasha nods, leaving to check on some patients.
The sound of your phone makes you turn back, but it’s not Wanda.
“Hey, Darcy. Guess who’s in Boston?”
“Hey, pal. Oh, do tell” the brunette asks, curious if Ekaterina convinced Wanda to let you know about her travel plans.
“Kate. Yelena invited her to this gala the Romanoffs are planning. It was so crazy running into her in the front desk. For a moment I thought I went back in time”
“Oh. Yeah, Kate” Darcy sounds disappointed, which is weird. “She took some days off but I had no idea that was her plan” she lies.
“Well, I’m sure she didn’t want anyone to think I was convincing her to leave Stark Hospital”
“So, a gala!” Darcy changes the subject. “Sounds fun. Are you going?”
“Yeah. There’s an open bar”
“And are you bringing a date?”
“Well, I am the date. I’m Natasha’s plus one” you explain, and there’s an awkward pause on the other side of the line. “Uh, Darcy?”
Damn it, damn it.
Darcy already knew about the gala. It was so easy to make Kate crack under the slightest pressure.
But her plan was to make Wanda reach out today and you’d ask her to be your date. You being Natasha’s date is not gonna work out.
“Yeah, I just… so what are you doing the day after the gala?”
“Kidney transplant. I mean, not doing it. But just watching and assisting for a bit”
For fuck’s sake, would you even have a spare moment to meet Wanda?
This might be the only chance she’d get, considering it wouldn’t be certain she’d be getting the job.
“Ok, well. Have fun doing everything. Sounds like you’re booked and busy”
“Yeah. I’ll tell you how it goes. Bye, Darcy”
As soon as you hang up, Darcy calls Wanda’s mother.
“We need to delay the operation contact zero for one day”
“I’ll call my insider” the woman answers criptically.
“You scare me, Ekaterina” Darcy says, questioning if the woman is some sort of retired spy. When she hears the older woman laugh and hang up, she’s 99% convinced that’s the case.
“What do you mean, if I can keep her occupied for the entire day? Laura, I’m pregnant!”
“Lily, I know…”
“So pregnant, that if I so much as sneeze, I’m positive this baby will just pop out!”
“That’s not how it works, thankfully. Trust me, I know”
“Laura…” the woman pinches the bridge of her nose.
Should have taken maternity leave sooner.
“Look, I get it. It’s complicated, but I promise you, if you listen to me, Wanda will sign the deal and go back and forth between Boston and Westview”
Thing is, Lily really needs this. If her boss finally finds an illustrator that can live up to her expectations, then she can take her leave and not be bothered by work in the upcoming 12 weeks.
“Ok, fine. I’ll figure something out”
“Thank you, I owe you big time”
“Uh-hu. Yeah, you do, Mrs. Barton”
“Oh, and try to keep her away from her phone”
“Anything else? Oh, gotta go”
Wanda Maximoff comes out of the arrival’s section in the airport, looking around. Lily waves her hand, and the redhead walks towards her with a smile.
“Hello, you must be Lily…” she goes to shake her hand, but the other woman pulls her in for a hug.
“Sorry about the baby bump, he wants to say hi as well”
“No, no worries at all. How far along?”
“Well, 39 weeks which means I’m ready to pop any day now! That also means we get a driver to take us anywhere you want. So get in the car and prepare for a very busy day, Wanda”
“Oh, my phone is in my bag…” Wanda says as Lily throws it in the trunk.
“No worries, Laura has my number. If anyone needs to reach you she can text or call” the woman insists, hoping Wanda doesn’t push it.
Of course, she doesn’t as she wants to make a good impression on her potential employers.
“Let’s start with the Paul Revere house, shall we?”
You look at yourself in the mirror for the tenth time. When was the last time you dressed fancy?
Even if it’s tailored to perfection, you’re still making sure the red suit is looking fine, adjusting the white shirt underneath the jacket.
Though you don’t know what Natasha’s wearing, she promised you’d match.
And she’s right, because when she knocks on your door and you open it, she’s wearing a black and red sequenced dress. It’s a mermaid cut that favors her figure.
“Shall we get going?” she says when you keep staring.
“Yes, of course. Don’t laugh at me” you add when you spot a faint smile on her face.
“I already told you, it’s fun to see you flustered”
“Mhm. Are the lovebirds joining us?”
“I think they’ll be arriving separately. It’s not like prom where we all ride a limo”
“Well, I didn’t go to prom, and if I had, it certainly wouldn’t have been on a limo” you say, making Natasha laugh.
She drives you to the gala, as you have no idea where it’s all happening. A man approaches to open your door and help you out.
“Fancy” you comment when a valet takes Natasha’s car. “And I’m surprised you let anyone else drive that thing”
“They already know how much it costs” she comments.
If you think a man opening the car door is fancy, then what the hell is the thing waiting inside? There’s a chandelier, a string quartet, servers dressed to the nines and the best part, an open bar with all the things you could dream of drinking.
“Hey, where are you dragging me?”
“We have to say hello first” Natasha says through her teeth. “You’ll get drunk later, trust me”
The woman drags you to a table where Melina is chatting with two men, and they introduce themselves. The names don’t ring any bells, but apparently they are congressmen.
“A pleasure” you say, hoping the small talk can end soon.
“Is this your first gala? I don’t recall seeing you before”
“Yes, I’m working as Head of Trauma at Romanoff Medical Center until they can find someone to stay for good” you explain.
“Why not stay here? Is there somewhere else you might want to go?”
“I’m not sure. Coming to Boston was never in my plans but here I am. I guess I’m just living one day at a time” you say with a fake smile. Natasha picks up on your discomfort, ending the conversation and excusing the both of you.
She goes around the room to introduce you to other people, but when Yelena finally arrives you walk up to meet her.
“Took your sweet time” Natasha scolds her.
“We got caught up… in something” Yelena explains as Kate joins her. You notice she’s wearing an all black suit, which is a stark contrast to Yelena’s golden, low cut dress.
“Oh, looks like you have a hickey there” you point at a spot in Yelena’s neck, her hand flying to cover it.
“I told you not to…” she glares at Kate, and you laugh.
“She didn’t. But now we know you both were getting nasty”
Natasha laughs as well. Yelena is about to curse at you, when her mother interrupts her.
“Behave” she warns. “Hello, I am Yelena’s mother”
“Kate Bishop” the girl introduces herself, and Melina arches an eyebrow.
“Bishop, as in Bishop Security?”
“Yes, that would be correct” Kate says, visibly awkward.
“Well, I’d love to catch up with your mother. Had I known you’d be here, I would have invited her as well. Next time” Melina nods, leaving as someone calls for her a moment later.
“So, am I the only one who isn’t some sort of nepo baby?” you throw the question in the air, making the Romanoffs roll their eyes.
“I’ll find our seats”
Yelena leaves too, but Kate stays behind, sitting next to you at the bar.
“So…”
“Whisky neat” you ask the bartender as he walks by.
“When are you returning to Westview?” Kate says.
“Make it a doble” you add, sighing. The brunette doesn’t take the hint, though.
“You are returning to Westview, right? Doctor Lewis mentioned your contract is only for three months…”
“Yeah, but I quit. And I doubt Fury will want to hire me again. I was a jerk that left without any notice, all because I couldn’t handle my break up” you mutter against the glass, sipping.
But Kate’s always been curious, questioning everything. It’s what makes her a great student, but right now? She’s a pain in your ass.
“So, what are you doing when the contract…?”
“Jesus, Kate. I don’t know. I try not to plan ahead ever since I bought a ring and fucked up my entire relationship. I had expectations about the future and now I can barely leave my bed. So, when my contract’s done I’ll decide what to do next”
“Right, I’m sorry”
“Kate, come sit” Yelena calls for her, her tone gentle. You look up, meeting hazel eyes that are glaring at you. But you decide to ignore Yelena and keep drinking.
The bartender sneaks out to smoke every ten minutes. Though this last break has been longer and you are in desperate need for more alcohol.
Another woman walks up to the bar, looking around.
“Ugh, I’ll do it myself. What can I get you?” you give up, walking behind the bar. You nod as you listen to the woman ask for a gin tonic. Between sips of your own drink, you pour gin over the ice, add tonic water and lime juice.
“Delicious!” the woman says. “Are you a bartender as well?”
“No, I’m a surgeon, which is why that lemon wedge is so perfectly cut” you joke, raising your glass to clink it against hers. “I’m Y/N”
“Valkyrie” the woman introduces herself. “Which hospital?”
“Stark Hospital” you answer out of habit. Then you shake your head, and clear your throat. “Sorry, meant to say I was at Stark, now I’m at RMC”
“So you must know Maria”
“Rambeau? Yeah, she’s great. I’m actually going to be her fiancee’s bridesmaid” you say, smiling.
“Glad to hear they were able to fix things. I was sad to see her go from the program, though, it was great to have such an experienced Peeds surgeon” she sighs.
“Wait. You’re on Doctor’s Without Borders?”
“Yes, I coordinate international programs. Why? You interested?” the woman smiles.
“Well… my contract is temporary. And I’ve always wanted to do that, but never really had the time or means”
After med school, it took a while for you to settle and pay off your student debt, so even participating in something like that felt like a bit of a luxurious career detour that you couldn’t afford.
But now, with all the money you’re earning -and saving on rent- it could very well be the next step in your career.
“You don’t have to answer right away. Here’s my card” Val says. “Remind me your specialty”
“Trauma”
“Never mind, you’re coming on the next flight with me” she jokes and you laugh.
Someone else calls for her and Val raises her glass, grateful for the drink. As you wave goodbye, you notice yours is painfully empty.
“Can I get some tequila, please?” you ask the bartender, who is finally back. However, Natasha comes out of nowhere, speaking over you.
“She’ll have water or coffee”
“Hey! Are you this controlling with all your dates?”
“Only when I find out my mother wants to put you on the spot in the middle of her speech” she whispers, which makes your eyes widen. “You’re too drunk to be coherent, so better sober up, now”
“What does she even want me to say?” you whisper yell as Natasha takes you to the table.
“That we’re a Level 1 Trauma Center and will continue to be one with your work”
“I’m not staying…”
“She’s hoping that putting you on the spot will awaken some sense of duty. Don’t expect it to make sense” Natasha mutters, sitting next to you.
Kate is to your left, chatting with Yelena, tensing when you sit down next to her.
Melina walks up to the small stage, and people clap as she prepares for her speech.
“Hey, about before…” you lean towards Kate, trying to apologize. Yelena shushes you and you glare. “I’m still your boss, Belova”
“Not tonight” she says, pulling Kate by the hand so she turns to the stage, her back to you.
“Evening’s going great” you grumble next to Natasha.
“I see why you only leave the penthouse to go clubbing”
But you can’t say anyhting as Melina begins her speech, thanking every big donor of the Romanoff foundation, NGOs working to bring awareness about certain diseases and the hospital staff, of course.
“It’s an exciting time for us. We are gearing up to do the second xenotransplant of a genetically altered kidney” Melina pauses when people clap again. “We’re also advancing and innovating in the ER, and as some of you may already know, we have a new…”
“I’m gonna throw up” you complain, hating whenever there’s attention drawn to you.
“Just clap and smile along”
“I’m seriously gonna throw up” you say, regretting the amount of alcohol you drank.
And just as Melina is about to say your name and point towards you, a man walks in the room, shouting.
“Is there a doctor here? We have an emergency!”
Wanda’s had quite the day. She’s now barely making it to the hotel, Lily waddling next to her.
“Oh, looks like there’s a fancy gala happening” she points out as they walk across the lobby.
Wanda doesn’t pay attention to that, finally able to check her messages.
The last one was of you saying you’d be out for the evening but that Wanda could call anytime if she needed something.
Honestly, she can’t wait to go up to her room and call you.
Unless…
Did you mean you were out on a date?
Wanda’s still trying to figure out the meaning behind the message when Lily, who was speaking to the receptionist to confirm Wanda’s reservation, laughs nervously.
“Well, looks like my water just broke”
“What did you just say?” Wanda snaps out of it, looking at Lily’s feet. “Well, ok, calm down. It’s gonna be fine. Can we get some help here?”
“What’s wrong?” the concierge asks, but catches on a second later when Lily sits on the floor, breathing heavily. “Oh, crap. Let’s just…”
For some weird reason, he runs to the other room where the fancy event is happening, shouting that they need a doctor.
Half the room turns to look at him and at least an entire table stands up.
“What kind of emergency?”
“A woman’s in labor”
“Ok, show me. Excuse me, ER doctor coming through”
Wanda’s so focused on helping Lily breath, that she doesn’t fully notice what’s happening or rather, who kneels beside her until she hears your voice.
“Hi, I’m Doctor Y/L/N. What’s your name?”
You’re completely immersed in your work, removing your jacket and pulling up the sleeves of your shirt to move around freely.
“Lily. I’m 39 weeks pregnant, should I push?”
“No, no! Absolutely not!” you rush to say, “Let’s call an ambulance, please?”
As you look around the room, seeing who will do as you ask, you finally notice someone who is kneeling next to you. Must be a friend of the woman.
You turn to ask if there’s anyone you should call when you meet those beautiful, green eyes. Ones you’d recognise anywhere.
“Wanda?”
“Hey”
Hey? Seriously?
A whole month thinking about you every second of every god damn day and the best Wanda can do is say hey
Are you fucking kidding me, Maximoff.
“Do you need help?”
“I’m here, I’m her resident”
Even if Yelena and Kate are… whatever they are, they’re still going to compete over getting some cases.
“Check her pulse and time contractions, if there are any” you tell them both, standing up and dragging Wanda with you. “I’m very confused right now. Are the kids ok? Why are you here?”
“It’s kind of a long story… and I, that’s why I texted earlier, but then the day got crazy and you told me you were on a date”
“Not a date” Natasha clarifies, appearing behind you. “Ambulance is here, the hospital’s been alerted. You should ride with them, get out of the speech while you can”
“Thanks” you nod, seeing the EMTs pull over. You turn to Wanda. “Are you coming with her?”
“No, Wanda, stay and get some rest, I made you walk around the city all day” Lily pleads.
“Are you crazy? No one should be doing this alone. I’m coming with you until your boyfriend gets to the hospital” Wanda decides, jumping on the back of the ambulance with Lily and you.
Yelena and Kate scramble to their feet, trying to get on the vehicle as well.
“Ok, it’s a little crowded in here, plus this is your family’s gala and Bishop, you are Yelena’s date. No one else goes”
“Fine” they mutter, disappointed.
The ride to the hospital is silent except for the machines monitoring Lily’s blood pressure. You’re keeping an eye on that, while checking on her heartbeat, using a stethoscope that you found in the ambulance.
“I forgot how good you are at that” Wanda says when your eyes meet again.
“At what? Checking a heartbeat?”
“Handling toddlers”
She’s talking about Yelena and Kate, which makes you laugh.
“Well, Billy and Tommy behave a hell of a lot better than those two back there”
“Not lately” Wanda sighs.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to mess everything up so badly, Wanda” you regret, leaning back.
“Am I missing something? You two know each other?” Lily says, pointing at Wanda and then at you. “Is that why Laura asked me to keep you busy this entire day?”
“She what?”
“We dated” you offer as an explanation, smiling at the woman in the stretcher.
“How long ago? Because you are still giving each other some major heart eyes”
It’s clear that the mild sedative is making the woman spill her every thought.
“Until a month ago”
“Well, whichever one of you screwed up, better get their act together because you’re clearly not over each other” Lily says.
“It was my fault” Wanda says at the same time as you. You both look at each other and you give her a small smile.
“I beg to differ, Miss Maximoff. It was me who got it all wrong”
“Not just you. I messed up real bad” Wanda says, leaning forward.
You’re about to say something else when the ambulance stops, and the doors open. You excuse yourself, giving the nurses and doctors a summary of the patient, walking next to Lily’s stretcher.
“I’ll come find you once she’s settled in a room” you promise Wanda.
She nods, taking a moment to gather her thoughts. What are the odds?
Which also brings her back to what Lily said. Why did Laura want her busy for the entire day?
There’s only one way to find out.
“Hey, how did it go today?” her friend picks up the phone, though it sounds like there’s an echo.
“Am I on speaker?”
“Oh, yeah. I’m cooking dinner” Laura lies.
“Are there children around?”
“No, why…”
“Ok, then what the fuck is going on, Laura?”
Somebody else whistles, and Wanda hears Pietro’s voice.
“Looks like you ladies got caught”
“Why are you there? Who else is around? Somebody better tell me what the hell is going on right now…”
“Give that to me” Darcy says, pushing Laura out of the way. “Hi, nice speaking to you, Maximoff. It’s just me, Laura, your mother and Pietro. Listen, we’ve been busting our asses for you to meet at the right time and find a way to make up with Y/N so I get my best friend back. So don’t fuck it up now, ok?”
“You’re not helping!” Laura protests. “Wanda, what do you mean? What happened today?”
“The minute I landed, Lily drove me around the entire city without a break. Did you manipulate a very pregnant woman to keep me busy and away from Y/N for the day?”
“Well, yeah. She was going with Natasha to the gala and I didn’t want you pulling one of your stunts again, not after getting so far along the plan” Darcy bites back.
“Great, so I crashed her date with Natasha with a woman giving birth. What a loser” Wanda massages her temples.
“Did you just say Lily was givig birth?” Laura says. “Oh, my God! Do you think it was my fault?”
“That’s a possibility, I’m not gonna lie to you” Darcy admits, taking the phone back. “Listen. Work it out with Y/N. Talk, fight, have angry sex, whatever it takes. I need my friend back, and you better grovel on the floor to beg for her forgiveness”
“I want to speak to my mother. Privately” Wanda ignores Darcy, knowing who’s really behind all of this.
“Hello, malyshka” Ekaterina greets, removing the speaker and walking away from Wanda’s kitchen, into the living room. Darcy and Laura put their ears against the door, trying to listen.
Pietro just laughs, shaking his head.
“Mama, you had no right…”
“Wanda? Lily’s in a room now” you call for her.
“This conversation isn’t over” she warns her mother, hanging up. “You wouldn’t believe what I just learned…”
Wanda’s looking down at her phone as she walks towards you, that adorable frown that she makes whenever something upsets her.
She keeps talking, but you’re looking at her lips, remembering how much you love kissing her.
Wanda notices, and she stops talking, but leans forward.
Her lips are so close, and then you hear the worst sound in the world.
“Doctor Y/L/N, your patient is… oooh”
To your missfortune, Ed interrupts you in that precise moment.
Of all people, it had to be the circus clown.
“Get lost, will ya?”
Wanda slaps your arm, but she has no idea how annoying the kid can be.
“She was asking for a Wanda, which I believe might be you…” he points to her.
“Come on” you guide her to Lily’s room. As you walk next to Wanda, you place your hands in your pockets, trying to hold back on reaching out to touch her.
You have no idea why she’s here, but at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter, does it? It was all said and done between you two. If you kiss her, you’ll go back to square one.
“Hey!” Lily greets as soon as you open the door for Wanda. There’s another woman standing next to the bed. She has short, grey hair and a kind smile.
“Wanda! Thank you so much for being there for Lily. I told her she should have been on maternity leave sooner”
“I wanted to find you the perfect artist” Lily sighs, adjusting herself on the bed.
“Doctor, thank you so much for helping Lily” the woman says. You have no idea what’s going on, or why she’s so happy to talk to Wanda.
What you do know is that it’s none of your business.
“Just doing my job. OBGYN will take it from here, as it looks like you’ll have to wait a bit before you’re ready to give birth”
“Your boyfriend’s on the way, right?” the woman asks Lily, and she nods. “We’ll keep you company for a bit, and once he’s here, we could go get something to eat. What do you think, Wanda?”
“Oh, I was…”
But when Wanda looks back, you’re already closing the door.
“Everything ok?” Wendy insists.
“Yeah, everything’s fine”
Wanda got the job.
It was hers.
Wendy Lawson was way cooler in person, and didn’t have a problem when Wanda was only half present during their conversation over dinner.
She thought the younger woman was just tired.
And now, back in her room, Wanda finally gets to rest and shower. You’re all she can think about.
It’s one thing to see you in an Instagram post, and another one to be right in front of you.
You seem healthy and happy. Even fitter, your hair longer and a bit of a stronger built. You must spend a lot of time at the gym.
But it’s you, the same smile, those kind eyes and the quiet confidence while you treat patients.
Honestly, Wanda’s very disappointed with herself. She was hoping to have a big speech ready, explain why she was in Boston. Grovel and beg for forgiveness, just like Darcy said.
All she got was an ambulance ride and a quick conversation in a hospital hallway.
As she wears one of your hoodies, and changes into a pair of yoga pants, her phone rings.
“I believe we have a pending conversation” her mother says. She’s not afraid of confrontation, never has been.
“Mama, this is my life. You have no right to…”
“Did I tell you I almost didn’t marry your father?” Ekaterina interrupts her daughter. Wanda stays silent, and the woman takes that as a sign to continue. “Your uncle Arvydas told me about a chance to move to England, work as a nanny for an embassador. I’d rather stay in Sokovia and be with your father, but everyone was telling me what to do or what was better for me. And you know what your father said?”
“No”
“He said I want to marry you. I’ll be at the church on the day we planned and I’ll be waiting. The life with you is the one I want. Now you make a choice, but be sure it’s the one you want for yourself, not what others are telling you to do. And whatever that choice is, I will respect it”
“Yeah, that sounds like something Papa would say”
“My darling, you need to follow your heart. At least get some closure if this is really over. But if she’s really the one you want… fight for her”
“I don’t even know where to begin” Wanda sighs.
“Just find her, the rest will come along”
“Give the boys a kiss for me?”
“One for each” her mother promises, hanging up.
It’s not too late, as Wanda saw some people still at the salon.
She walks out of her room, straight to where the gala is happening.
“Excuse me, could I see your invitation?” a man stops her.
“Oh, I… I don’t have any. I just need to talk to someone inside. It will only take a minute”
“I’m afraid I can’t let you…”
“It’s alright” Natasha says, appearing behind Wanda. “She can come inside, I know her”
The man at the door nods, allowing Wanda to pass.
“She’s over there” Natasha points at you, leaning against the bar and drinking from a glass full of whisky. “Will regret those last few drinks tomorrow morning”
“Thank you” Wanda says, nodding towards Natasha. She’s still not sure how she feels about you and the Russian working together.
But it’s none of her business what you do with other people.
“Hey, Y/N”
You do a doble take, wondering if you’re way too drunk and imagining Wanda’s in front of you.
“Hey, hi. How’s Lily?”
“Good. Her boyfriend was there, they were calling family. Preparing for everything”
“Sounds nice”
“Could we talk?” Wanda asks, before she loses her nerve. “Unless you’re busy”
“No, that’s fine” you down the last of your drink and stand up from the stool. “Let’s go”
Wanda decides it would be nice to get a capuccino from a coffee place nearby. You walk with her, noticing she is definitely not wearing the appropriate coat for this weather.
“Here” you offer yours.
“No, I don’t want you getting sick”
“It’s to protect my hoodie, obviously” you joke and she finally accepts it.
“Remember Wendy Lawson?” Wanda asks.
“The author? Yes, the one who went to give a talk to your school and make you consider writing for the first time”
Of course you remember.
“Well, it’s the woman that was standing right there in the middle of Lily’s room. And she offered me a job to illustrate her new book”
“Hey, that’s huge, congratulations” you say as you open the door to the coffee shop, noticing how warmer and nicer it is inside. You order a hot cocoa, while Wanda gets her own coffee.
“I’ll just have to travel back and forth for a bit”
“But the kids…”
“My mother is in town” Wanda clarifies. There’s so much to tell you, but you’re here, walking next to her, offering your coat and smiling at Wanda. Everything’s a mess in her head.
“So that’s why you are not in town” you joke. “I do hope things are better between you two”
“Well, it’s been a whole thing. But listen, that job is not the only reason I came to Boston” Wanda admits once you’re walking back to the hotel. “I wanted to speak to you”
“Oh, right” you say, scared that she’s here to hand over your stuff and make sure you never have to see each other again.
“Y/N, this last month has been… so bad for me. I can’t stop thinking about you, about those horrible things I said. About how I punished you beyond reason for something that wasn’t your fault. I was angry and instead of processing it, I let it out in childish ways to hurt you. Because I thought it was a way to get even”
“Wanda, you weren’t the only one that screwed up. I didn’t set boundaries with Nat. And then made you feel insane when you pointed it out” you sigh, looking at your feet. “I don’t know. Maybe we should have given this a bit of a break after that, instead of rushing back to the same routine, pretending nothing hapened”
“Well, now we had a break. An entire month to think about it, and I thought about it, even when I tried not to. Y/N, I love you. And I want… I want our future together”
You sigh, thinking about it.
Isn’t this exactly what you wanted? Getting Wanda back.
But you made the same mistake last time. You simply said you were sorry and jumped back in.
“Do you ever think we rushed things?”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean we kinda started dating, and I spent every moment in your house because I lived across the street. And then coparenting. I love the kids but I hate myself for hurting them when we broke up”
“So…” Wanda stops outside the hotel, looking at you. She can’t read you right now; all the things you said so far make sense, but they could be arguments to either work on your relationship or call it quits.
“So… let’s date. For a bit” you decide. “Because if we go back to how everything was, and the twins get their hopes up…”
If I get my hopes up.
“That makes sense” Wanda nods.
“But there’s one thing you should know. I work with Natasha and live in the same building as her. I’m not saying we’re best friends or spend every moment together, but we’re in the same room a lot of times”
“I get it. And I appreciate the heads up”
“Alright then. Let's take it slow, then” you nod, walking towards her. “You should head back inside and get some rest”
“What about you?”
“I’ll take a cab home”
“My room’s big enough…”
You interrupt Wanda with a small laugh, walking so close that your lips are inches apart.
“I said slow, Miss Maximoff”
“Since when are you immune to my puppy eyes?” Wanda huffs, crossing her arms.
“I’m not” you shake your head. "Which is why you should really go inside. Now”
Wanda’s eyes travel to your lips and you lean forward, until… you kiss the corner of her mouth.
“Trust me, it will be worth the wait” you smile against her temple.
“Goodnight, Y/N”
“Night, Wands”

“Don’t you think the Boss is a bit strange? I mean I’ve only seen him a few times but he doesn’t look like a boss at all.”
The red-haired Heartslabyul rookie asked. It was lunch break and you were sitting in a café with the rookies.
“Indeed. The way he talks and acts is nothing like I imagined.” The lilac-haired rookie assassin agreed. You chuckled. Despite being his right-hand man, sometimes even you couldn’t understand how Crowley managed to become the boss.
“What did you expect?” you asked.
“Tougher? Cooler?” You laughed to their answers . They were right.
While the conversation continued, you got a notification on your phone and said goodbye to the rookies and got up from the table.
You knocked on the door of the main headquarters meeting room and went inside. Crowley was leaning back in the boss chair at the head of the table, drinking tea.
“Oh, you’re here, sit down.”
He gestured for you to sit down at one of the chairs.It always seemed strange to you. Even though there were seven executive in organization, there were only eight directors at the table. A bouquet of white lilies was placed on the extra chair.
“You wanted me.”
You sat down in the Heartslabyul chair to Crowley’s left. Your masked boss smiled.
“I just wanted to chat a little. You know, today is a special day. Today…is the day you completed your first mission and joined the mafia.” He looked at the lilies and then at you. His voice was sad. You nodded.
“Yes sir.”
“Tell me Y/n…how was your first mission?”
You were confused. Crowley had asked you that question before. Many times. And you gave the same answer again.
“The target was unarmed. Or rather, he dropped his weapon on the ground in front of my eyes and wanted to hug me-“
“Okay, no need to continue.” He looked at the lilies sadly.
“…Y/n, I raised you. You are like my own child to me. You know that.”
You nodded. It was true that he had taken you from the orphanage when you were little and raised you.
“Life can do things you can’t predict. You never know what the future holds for you. I’ve done a lot to survive in this organization. You understand?”
It’s the same thing every year. Every year, Crowley would call you into this room today, and for what felt like hours, he would speak to you in this strange and uncharacteristic way. Like he was confessing his sins…
“You are loyal to me. My right-hand man. My most trusted man…”
- Previous boss’s timeline
“Crowley…”
A sick old man in bed called out to the man standing next to him in the chair. His voice was dry and weak. His narrow eyes were tired and full of hatred.
“Yes boss,”
“Haven’t you destroyed the Royal Sword yet! Destroy it!”
The old man started shouting again, as if he were crazy. The man sitting on chair smiled. He seemed quite used to this situation. He stood up and leaned over to the man lying on the bed. The man in the bed’s screams stopped. The white sheets were stained red.
“Ah, finally. He’s been going through a lot of dementia lately. If I had waited a little longer, I was sure I would have lost my hearing. Don’t you think so Crewel?”
Crowley turned to the assassin standing right by the door. Crewel’s face was unreadable, but Crowley smiled understandingly.
“It was bound to happen eventually. It’s just a matter of timing and patience. And don’t tell me you’re sorry. I mean, he’s been going through a lot of dementia for the last year and a half.”
He waved his hand in the air.
“I will inform the other executives of the death in a few hours. Have the body cleaned. I must prepare a funeral worthy of our dear old boss. I will see you tonight.”
The masked executive put on his coat and left the room.
-
“What is this?” Savanaclaw’s new executive Ashton Vargas slammed his hand on the table.
The first extraordinary executive meeting was being held since the tragic sudden death of the former boss. The subject was the treason accusation of the 8th Division Ramshackle executive– code name Blade.
“Apparently, Blade, who has been supposedly ‘on a mission’ for a long time, was working for Royal Sword.” Heartslabyul executive Trein explained the subject while sipping his tea.
“How is this possible? He was the boss’s right-hand man. He was his heir.” Ashton Vargas read the documents over and over in disbelief.
“According to the documents, a large amount of money was transferred to the Ramshackle executive’s bank accounts. Why didn’t Octavinelle mention this?”
Crowley, executive of Diasomnia, asked.
“Because there was no such gap-”
“Or you didn’t notice it.”
“I don’t believe it. There was no reason, and these documents, photos, audio recordings… how do we know if they are fake? I would also like to point out that we don’t know their sources. Blade had many enemies.” The Pomefiore executive spoke up. He said his last sentence while looking specifically at Crowley. The room was in complete chaos.
“Night Raven needs a boss. We don’t know where Blade is. The charges against him are too serious to be taken lightly. If Blade is truly a traitor-”
The Scarabia executive was interrupted by Octavinelle.
“But it’s still not certain. There’s also the possibility of a conspiracy. We must wait until Ignihyde verifies the documents. We cannot take the choice of a new boss lightly.”
As the six executive argued among themselves, Ignihyde finally raised his hand to speak and made the expected statement.
“Ignihyde…confirms the truth of the documents.” The Ignihyde executive spoke.
With Ignihyde's approval, a brief silence fell over the room...
-
“…That’s it for today. Thank you for attending the meeting.”
The new masked Boss ended the meeting with a smile. All the executives began to leave the room one by one.
“Crewel, sit down. How about we have a chat?”
The new Pomefiore executive paused. He turned to the masked man. He had a strange expression on his face. It was obvious that he didn’t want to sit down, but he sat back down in his chair.
“That face…You’ve been wearing that face a lot lately, huh? When the Boss died, when I made you an executive…”
“I don’t know what you mean.”
The masked man smiled.
“Crewel, how’s the mission I gave you going? Have you found him?”
Crowley’s question caused a brief silence.
“…No. I haven’t found him yet.”
His voice was normal. However, he couldn’t look him in the face when he answered.
“I see… By the way, we’re going to adopt a child today.”
“What?”
Crewel looked at Crowley in surprise. He hadn’t expected to hear something like this all of a sudden.
“Yes. The child you’ve been seeing a lot lately. The child you’ve been secretly visiting behind my back.”
Crewel clasped his hands together under the table in fear. The events of the last six months had made him very nervous about what Crowley could do.
“Don’t get nervous like that. I’ve been visiting that kid for the last few months, and aren’t they cute, I must say? I also think they have potential. After all, they are from his blood.”
Crowley stood up and patted Crewel on the shoulder.
“We’ll be out in a few hours. Okay?”
Then he left Crewel alone in the room…
“You should have guessed as much.”
Divus raised his head. Heartslabyul’s executive Mozus Trein was standing in front of the door , looking all serious. The older executive walked over to him and sighed.
“When the previous boss made him his heir, it was clear what would happen. You should have made a choice back then. You’re lucky he left you alive, though.”
The younger executive looked at the older executive with pain. He shook his head slightly in denial.
“I…”
“When the previous boss went crazy and fell into his sickbed, Crowley gradually took control of the entire mafia. You either stood by him or died. You saw it , after the previous boss died , executives of Pomefiore and Octavinelle…Ramshackle was completely destroyed. If you want that child to live, come to your senses. Swear your loyalty to Crowley and forget about him.”
- Current timeline
Silence… It had been about an hour since you escaped from Pomefiore. The road was completely empty. There was only your breathing and the sound of the vehicle. Apart from your tense and anxious heartbeat, it could be called a very calm drive…
You turned down the crackling sound of the radio that suddenly increased slightly. The navigation suddenly changed the route a few times. At first, you didn’t think much about it since you thought you were in an area with no internet connection, but something didn’t feel right. The vehicle suddenly accelerated beyond your control. Yes, something was really wrong. While you were trying to understand what was happening, the vehicle started to slow down. When the steering wheel started to move on its own, you tried to control it, but the vehicle changed lanes. You had lost control of the vehicle.
“Ahem. Sound control one two. Y/n-shii, can you hear my voice clearly?”
Idia Shroud. Everything had settled into place now.
“It seems you do.”
You tried to regain control of the vehicle, but it was useless.
“Don’t bother. No matter what you do, you can’t regain control.”
The Ignihyde executive chuckled at your futile efforts. You couldn’t see him, but you could tell by the tone of his voice that his face was currently enchanted with pleasure.
“I must be lucky. I made a slight change in plans when I realized that the vehicle you were in when you escaped from Pomefiore was one of the newer models produced by S.T.Y.X. Normally, I would have caught you in a different way, but this is more comfortable and safe.”
You didn’t want to waste time talking. You had to think of something fast. You tried to unbuckle your seat belt, but it was stuck.
“What are you doing?”
When you finally got rid of your seat belt, you reached into the back seat and grabbed your gun. You tried to roll up the windows, but as you expected, they wouldn’t open.
“I don’t recommend that, Y/n-shii. If you break even one of the windows, I’m giving you a firm warning that my drones outside will intervene.”
You looked out the window. He was right. You were trapped in this vehicle.
“Now that you’ve given up, how about we chat a bit? We have a long way to go.”
“What are we going to chat about?”
You leaned back on the couch. You had to think of something. You couldn’t use your phone. If you did, Idia would definitely intervene.
“Don’t say that. I-“
“You were the one who prepared the false documents about me. Or rather, you were one of the ones who prepared them. What would I have to talk to you about?”
“You were the one who first tried to leave the Organization.”
“I did it because you betrayed me! To survive!”
“You’re lying even now, Y/n-shii. We would never hurt you. If we really wanted to, you would be dead by now.”
He was right. If they had, they would have finished you off long ago. You clenched your teeth in anger.
“But it’s okay, I forgive you. When I take you back to the Organization, we will decide on your punishment. Well, as the person who caught you, I will have the most influence on the decision.”
You scoffed. Now it was clear why they were working separately on purpose.
“Don’t worry, I would never wish you harm. You were truly precious to me. And you still are.”
Idia truly said these words sincerely. Not to get on your nerves. You were precious to him. You used to visit him almost every day, cook for him, play games with him, listen to even the most absurd things he told you, and scold him while taking care of him. Even though you weren’t his completely , your old life was perfect for Idia. However, you tried to leave him. He prepared those documents against you with the others in order to hold on to that life, even though he didn’t want it. Then you ran away…
Idia sighed. You two couldn’t be completely the same anymore, but you would have plenty of time to fix everything after he took you back.
“By the way, how did you escape from Octavinelle? I couldn’t find the camera footage. Azul swore that he caught you.”
Wait a minute. Didn’t they know that Sam helped you that day? You didn’t answer.
“Whatever Ack-“
Idia’s voice suddenly stopped. After a minute of silence a voice came.
“Ignihyde has withdrawn.”
The voice was familiar. Crewel Sensei!
“You will regain control now.”
The voice stopped before you could respond. You had regained control.
.
.
.
The former executive left the building after destroying all evidence of his involvement. Then dialed that number.
“I did as you said. You better keep your promise.”

SLEEPY CLOSENESS // MARC GUIU
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
request: Can u do a Marc guiu we’re he’s being really clingy and cute with you in front of his family ?
content: almost cringy fluff
warnings: just overly sleepy marc
words: 1350
a/n: i’m so sorry it took me this long to post but my life got busy and i’m almost never home 😔 be patient with me with your requests i’m not ignoring them just figuring out how to elaborate each of them 🤌🏻
The Guiu family had invited you over for dinner, and you sit with your boyfriend Marc, he sits with his shoulder against you. His parents, as usual, are chatting amongst themselves, as Marc lets out a huge yawn. His head then lolls onto your shoulder, and despite the fact his parents are right there, he wraps an arm around you and snuggles into your shoulder, not caring if they see.
Marc's mom glances over as her son rests his head on your shoulder and his arm over you, then a small smile crosses her face. She clears her throat "Marc, I know you're tired but please try and stay awake while you have a guest over!"
Marc half opens one eye and glances at his mother, before burying his head back into your shoulder. He mumbles quietly “But I’m comfortable here.”
"Please sit up properly at least." His mum says with a sigh. Marc just burrows down further into the crook of your shoulder. He has no intention of moving.
You chuckle to yourself quietly at Marc’s antics, and he looks a bit like a sleepy puppy. His mom shoots you an exasperated look, and you decide to intervene, gently ruffling his hair a bit and giving a reassuring smile. “Baby, your parents are going to think I'm a bad influence on you if you keep falling asleep on me.”
Marc grunts, opening his dark eyes again and peering up at you. “Oh they know you’re a bad influence on me already.” He lets out another yawn and sits up a bit more, though still leaning against you
His mom rolls her eyes but smiles at you. “He’s always like this when he’s tired. A right nightmare when he was a toddler!” Marc shoots her a look, and you grin.
He sighs, not denying it. “Ma eso no es verdad. (that's not true mom)” He mutters quietly, burying his head in the crook of your shoulder again.
He yawns again and lets out a sigh. “And I’m just really tired cause the match today took a lot out of me. We barely won, it was 2-1.”
You nod sympathetically. “That’s fair. Good job on the win by the way.” You say, running your fingers through his hair again.
Marc makes a hum that sound like he's quietly purring, letting out another yawn. His eyes are half closed as he's curled onto you.
His mother chuckles as she watches you stroke her little boy's hair. "You two are adorable." she says affectionately.
As dinner finishes, you both head to the door. Marc is obviously exhausted and looks like he might fall asleep on the way home. His family calls out their goodbyes, and you and Marc reciprocate promising to come back soon.
You steer Marc over to the car since you don't trust him at this point to drive. So you coax him into the passenger seat and fasten his seatbelt, before getting into the car yourself.
He leans his head on the window, eyes closed. At a red light you turn to look at him. "Stay awake a bit longer amor, I love you but I'm not carrying you into our apartment."
He grunts something unintelligible. "Love you too." He mumbles, keeping his head on the window. "But just let me sleep...."
You roll your eyes affectionately and poke his arm to keep him from falling asleep. "We'll be home soon enough, okay? Then you can sleep as much as you like."
You pull up at your shared apartment and climb out of the car, then go the other side to get Marc out.
You're already standing next to the car, trying to coax him out. He's leaning against the seat and doesn't look like he's going anywhere. You roll your eyes, then grin and crouch down next to him. "If you get out the car, I'll give you a kiss."
That seems to get his sleepy mind working, as he opens one eye to look at you. "Promise?"
You nod, and he lets out a huff. "Fine." He grumbles and drags himself out of the car, and you keep your promise by leaning up to kiss him as soon as he's standing upright.
He melts into the kiss, though is still half asleep. After a few moments you pull away, and he blinks sleepily. "I'm sleepy though. Carry me." He demands, opening his arms.
You laugh at his pouty face, shaking your head at him. "Oh yeah, you think I'm gonna carry you all the way to the apartment?" You teased him, wrapping your arms around him instead.
You quickly wriggle out of his arms, a grin on your face as you dart away towards your apartment, laughing all the while.
He gives a small growl, and his competitive nature sparks awake. "Hey!" He calls after you, before giving chase.
You run for the front door, hoping to get to the sanctuary of your apartment before he catches you, but he's quickly on your tail.
He catches up to you and wraps his arms around you from behind, holding you in a tight bear hug. "Thought you could out run a footballer, eh?" He says with a smirk, his chin on your shoulder.
You're doubled over in laughter, and try to catch your breath. "You're- you're a- a damn- cheater. Unfair." you manage between laughs. He grins down at you and holds his hand out for the keys. "No I'm just good at what I do."
You hand over the keys, and he unlocks the door with a flourish. "After you." he says, grandly holding the door open for you.
You roll your eyes affectionately and step past him into the apartment. "Such a gentleman."
As you come out of the bathroom, he's already stripped to his boxers and sitting on the bed waiting for you, looking half asleep again.
He gives a cute yawn and holds his arms out again. "Come here~" he murmurs sleepily.
You roll your eyes affectionately, letting out a laugh. "Baby, you didn't have to wait for me in your boxers. You could've gone straight to sleep."
He pouts and shakes his head. "But then I wouldn't get to see how nice you look before bed." He whines, beckoning you towards him again.
You walk over to the bed and climb up to straddle him, settling yourself in between his legs. He grins up at you sleepily and wraps his arms around your waist, pulling you down onto him.
He gives you a warm smile, nuzzling your neck. "Can I get my reward now?" he mumbles, his breath warm against your skin.
You chuckle quietly, running a hand through his hair. "And what reward is that?" You ask, though you already know what he's asking for.
He yawns again but keeps his head on your shoulder, burrowing closer to you. "A goodnight kiss, please?" He says, his voice still soft and sleepy.
You smile at his sleepy request and tilt his chin up towards you, before leaning down to press a soft kiss to his lips. He smiles against your lips and kisses you back, his grip on your waist tightening as he pulls you nearer.
The kiss lasts a few moments before you pull back, and he pouts up at you. "Only one?" He asks, his eyes still half closed.
You laugh gently as you pull back, and tease him about the fact that now he's fully awake again with a smirk. "What happened to being tired, hm?"
He huffs playfully and glares up at you, though the effect is spoiled a little by the fact that he's still holding you close against him. "You can't blame me for wanting my goodnight kisses." He defends himself.
You shake your head at his pout and press another kiss against his lips. "There, there you big boy. Goodnight kisses delivered."
He grins and buries his head in your shoulder again. "Goodnight, I love you." He mumbles against your skin.
You run your hand through his hair and smile. "I love you too, you sleepy idiot."

October 31st, 1998
Your niece had a better haul than you ever did at this age, it seemed like every house on the fancy side of Hawkins was giving out full size candy bars. No one ever gave you full size candy bars. The Harrington's had outdone themselves this year, hoards of kids picking out wrapped caramel apples and passing out spiked cider to the parents. Humming and smiling while the adults hugged their parkas to their chests, kids running up and down the stairs of the cul de sac of Hawkins Mansions. Decorated to the nines -- you were happy that most of the street would tire her and all of her friends out. "Auntie!" she calls out, hurrying over to you while her pink and purple puffer coat swishes with her. Alycia glitters against the lights of the houses in the dark of the night, the red sequins on her leotard making her easy to find. Your sister-in-law made her a headband fitted with red horns with a pointed tail sewn into the back of the red tu-tu from her Spring recital to match. A Dancing Devil she called it -- for newly six, she was a pretty creative little bug.
"Auntie look," she yells, running into your legs. The spiked cider sloshes in your cup that you hold high over her head so it doesn't spill onto her. She holds up a decorated caramel apple covered in eyeballs made out of sugar.
"Gross, Leesh," you giggle, "It's got eyeballs all over it!"
"They're fake eyeballs, Auntie," she explains like you're stupid, "They're not real eyeballs."
"Oh, thank you for telling me. I didn't know," you giggle, catching Steve watching the two of you chat. Your cheeks burn, that crush from when you were fourteen and he spent the summer working at the mall never fully fading. He's married with four kids now so you should probably get over it. "How're things?" he asks from the curb, coming over to sneak Alycia a couple of Reese's cups. "They're good," you shake your head with a shrug, "They're fine. Out here with the rugrat while her mom's at work." "How's the family, your mom?" he presses, arms crossing over his broad chest that stretch the sleeves of his tan workwear jacket.
"She's doin' okay," you smile tightly, "Always a little hard for her this time of year."
"Five years now, isn't it?"
"To the day," you say with a lilt, "Gonna go visit him after I drop her with her grandparents. My dad'll be so thrilled to steal half her stash."
Your laugh is a little hollow when he squeezes your shoulder comfortingly, he slips a candy bar into your hand, too before saying his goodbyes -- set of twins running around his ankles.
Hawkin's bravest fireman somehow off duty on a night like this turns before you take your niece's hand to leave, "Be careful out there at night. You know it's not always safe."
"You don't believe in all those rumors, do you Harrington?" you laugh.
"Don't have to believe them or not," he says seriously, pushing his wire rims up his nose, "I know they're not rumors."
"Happy Halloween, Steve," you say dully, "Goodnight." You both wave, Alycia's little hand in yours while she rattles off a million words a minute about the skeloton outside of the Sinclair house. The moon glows down over the street, dark clouds slicing it like a broken plate.
Tumblr media
You rarely visit your brother on the day of, especially since there's always idiot teenagers running around the place. Not exactly easy to mourn when some loser in a Scream mask keeps trying to scare you.
It was quiet, your Docs crunching on mid-fall frosty grass -- some of it already half dead with the season. Commotion from the town in the distance had dulled into mostly nothing now that the kids had turned in for the night. Families turning their porch lights out, settling in for scary movies and sugar highs.
You squeeze the bouquet of baby's breath and eucalyptus a little hard in your hands when you walk through the tombstones. The low lamps along the walk way casting the grass and asphalt in a looming orangey glow -- not offering much light beyond their posts. The moon does the work, still looking shattered amongst the thin gray clouds sliding through the sky.
You hear some giggling, the rustle of leaves, the snap of twigs. Always an outlier of kids doing spells or a Ouija board out here this time of year -- old Chief Hopper coming down to make them scatter and take their weed. You walk off the path when you get a decent way in, crossing away from where the cemetary mostly turns to forest. Four 'Happy Birthday To Yous' into the brush and then a left, two head stones, then a right -- it's the third headstone on the fourth row. No light to shine down on you this time, just whatever's left in the sky. You take your big yellow scarf off from around your neck to lay over the grave, giving yourself a place to sit so your spandex covered thighs didn't have to touch the grass. Your mom would kill you if you got grass stains on the red trench she let you borrow -- a makeshift Carmen Sandiego costume if anyone asked.
You sit, laying the bouquet right at the granite edge, tracing his name before letting your hand drop. You don't say anything for a while, letting the cool wet air run over you in waves. You wonder if the wind blowing is him saying hey.
A few cemetery patrons come by, pay their respects to their loved ones and leave. Some superstitious, some religious. They fade out after a while. The loneliness is comforting, just you and your brother hanging out together like before. Despite being six years apart, it felt like you both always had some weird wonder twin telepathy. He was never really one for a lot of words.
"Didn't that guy tell you not to come around here so late?"
You jump at the sound of an unfamiliar voice, turning around to see an even more unfamiliar person. Wild curly waves messy around his face, cut in 80s shag perfection. His face chiseled, jawline pronounced with soft stubble, soaked in fake blood. It trails down his neck and stains the white of the baseball tee underneath a leather jacket; fitted over top with a battle vest that rivaled the metal heads of the 70s.
"Who're you, huh? You following me?" you ask. You swallow nervously, finding solace in seeing a few other cemetary visitors mosying around. The faint giggle of more mischeif causing teenagers in the distance.
"Sorry," he laughs, a warm laugh that meets his eyes, "Didn't mean to scare you. I um, I saw you over by the cul de sac, overheard him say somethin' to you. I was with my little cousin -- dressed like a mermaid, I don't know if you remember."
You think back to Leesh's pal of trick-or-treaters, scanning them in your head to recall a little girl with big brown eyes and a makeshit Ariel costume on under her jean jacket -- covered in patches much like his.
"Yeah," you smile, "I remember. But that didn't answer my question -- are you following me?"
"Nah," he grins, shaking his head, "I'm visiting someone -- this was just a happy accident."
"Oh," you respond quietly, "Who're you visiting if you don't mind me asking."
"My mom," he shrugs, scrunching his nose, "Halloween was her favorite holiday so I always try to come say hi."
"Oh, I'm sorry," you offer in condolences, "Did you um -- did you grow up here? I feel like I'd remember you."
"Nope," he sighs, shoving his hands in the pockets of his jeans while his wallet chain jingles next to his thigh, "Grew up with my uncle."
"Oh, nice," you nod, "Well um --"
"Who're you visiting?" he interrupts, sitting on the gravestone next to your brother's; hardware tinkling prettily as he does.
"Pete," you say, hand out to gesture towards the shiny granite in front of you, "My brother."
"Nice to meet you, Pete," he turns his head, curly hair flouncing over his shoulder, "Pleasure."
You laugh, he laughs with you -- you have to laugh about it or else you'd have to deal with the alternative. You're pretty sure you're all cried out about your brother now.
"What happened, if you don't mind me asking?"
"He worked construction," you shrug, "Took an overnight shift five years ago by the quarry, an' it was Halloween so he was workin' by himself -- no one to spot his safety gear. Must've fallen off the rigs or something and since it rained a lot that year the quarry was basically a lake at that point, hit his head and drowned. His body was completely banged up and waterlogged, they could only ID him from his pass in his pocket."
"Shit," he nods, "That's -- that's fuckin' awful. I'm sorry."
You shrug, "Bitch of living, I guess."
"Hm," he nods, "I wouldn't know."
"What do you mean?" you ask with a cocked head, eyes lingering on him while his linger on you. "Don't worry about it," he smirks, the kind that makes your heart flutter; cheeks getting hot at the sound of his voice. "You know something," you start, "With this whole get up -- and you're not from here so you might not know -- you look just like --"
"Eddie Munson?" he asks, with raised brows, "Yeah, my aunt's been telling me that forever. That's why I sorta dressed up like him for Halloween."
"That's dangerous around Hawkins, especially this time of year," you warn him, standing up from your spot and picking up your scarf. You shake it out to get some of the grass of the underside. You hardly notice the way his eyes trail from your shoes over your calves to your thighs.
"Some people say that he went right to hell after that earthquake since he killed that girl," you explain, shrugging the trench off some to fit the scarf on under it, "And now he's a demon that haunts Hawkins and terrorizes the town."
You both laugh, though his drops to a low and guttural hum. Nearly a growl. You lift your head to see him just a foot in front of you now, and you can really look. You can really see him. The paleness in his skin, tendrilled navy veins raising through it as he leans close to you.
At this distance it's clear that the hollowness in his eyes isn't makeup, but the sparkling brown is sunken into his skull. His brows darkened and determined while he looks at you.
At this distance, it's clear that the blood on his jaw is real.
"They're close," he says with a sly smile, "Really should've listened to Harrington, sweetheart."
You swallow hard, icy sweat in a film on your body while he takes a step forward.
"Those rumors are true."
Tumblr media
The icy air shreds your throat as you run, heaving it in and out in gasps. Your calves scream, thighs aching while you sprint through the brush of the forest; trench and scarf long forgotton somehwere amongst the trees. You try to ignore the way twigs and branches swipe at your face, slicing you and scratching you with unforgiving whips. You let out a cry while you speed, leaping over roots and piles of leaves all while trying to listen with peak percision. Is he close? Is he getting closer? Can he see you?
You stop behind a log near a dip in the earth, rocks above it. Climbing in you heave, trying to catch your breath -- you aren't really made for this. You don't know how girls in the movies can run that long without needing a break.
With a deep inhale in, you hold, using the quiet to try and hear him but there is nothing to be heard. No rustling, no creaks in the wood or in the wind.
You catch your breath, slowly creeping out of your hiding space while the darkness hones -- trees blocking out some of the moonlight. You take a step and then another, trying to make as little noise as possible.
Your efforts are of no use though -- you stomach turns at the sound. The flap of wings, leathery wings -- big. A shaky breath in gives you the courage to turn your eyes up. On one of the taller branches above you he sits, pale and domineering, "Hi, sweetheart."
You bolt again, depserate and sobbing while the cold air is no longer a hello from your brother but mother nature's cruel bite on your wet cheeks. You can barely take in breaths without pain in your throat and chest, turning left and right and left again to lose him but from above he can predict your every move.
When you hear silence again you take another turn, a mausoleum broken down a short distance away. You crawl your way in, wet earth and cement hitting your nose while you gasp and heave for the second time. You listen for the wings for moment, a few moments -- a calm washing over your back when you're sure he's gone.
You take a step back further into the darkness to be sure you're unseen. Deep breath in through your nose and out through your mouth. One, twice, three times.
Another step back and you bump into a pillar making you jump, a screech wrenching from you.
Not a pillar no, not by the way a set of claw bites into your shoulder.
"Would've been a good hiding spot if it wasn't for me finding it first, right?" he quips, "Bummer." "Y-you can't d-do this," you cry, "The r-rumors are true they'll -- they'll look for me! Steve knows about you!"
"Oh, babe, that's so cute," he muses with a giggle, "Why do you think I'm still here, huh? Steve's just like me, he's bitten too."
"B-but--"
"Why do you think he believes in all those rumors, huh baby?" he asks with a lilt, "Cause he's one of 'em. Well -- not all the way, I guess. Not like me."
"He blows my cover he blows his whole operation," he grins, sharp teeth bearing themselves at you, "Why d'you think he only works night shifts?"
"I -- don't -- I don't," you sputter, "Pl-please d-don't bite me, d-don't eat me I -- I'll do whatever."
"You're too funny," he says in your ear, deep and grizzly while you're rooted to the spot under his clutch, "I already ate, sweet girl. But you'll make a fine dessert."
Tumblr media
You don't know how you get there but it's not like home -- it is but it isn't -- dark and deadly; covered in slithering vines. You're too petrified to ask; but whatever this place was, despite the spores in the air and the rubble from the walls -- it was much nicer than the trailer he grew up in.
"Shh, shh, shh," he coos, claws deep in your shoulder while he wrenches you to a bed covered in plush linens -- satin and full. In the blur around you it could almost be a movie set; the booms of red lightening, dripping pillar candles in heaps around the room.
You whimper at first when his claws release, hot blood oozing against your sweater. The pain pulses like a dull thud, spit flooding your mouth while you move to your side to wretch but he catches you by the root of your hair. You wail in fear, smelling the decay in his breath, the sweet subtle rot of your surroundings.
"It's not polite to cause a scene in a stranger's home, right princess?" he asks with a soft lilt. He holds your gaze, warmth spreading over you when he smirks again -- and despite your fear, you can't look away. You aren't even sure if you want to look away.
Your body goes slack on the comforter, melting into itself like a dropped marionnette. "Very good," he purrs. Hazy, you feel his hands on you -- losing their warmth while they sneak under the hem of your sweater. The pads of his fingers are soft in comparison to the tips of his nails, grazing your stomach and sternum before reaching up to cup your breasts. He lets out a shallow breath, squeezing the delicate flesh softly in his palms -- so gentle despite his rough demeanor.
His thumbs graze your nipples in slow circles earning him a mewl from your dry throat.
"So easy," he giggles in a whisper. You nearly pout when his hands slide down and away from you; beginning the unhurried removal of your clothing. He moves glacially, eyes remaining on yours, wraiths of whispers in a lanuage you don't understand fluttering in the air around you -- in one ear and out the other. Part of you wants to scream and thrash while he slides off your spandex, rips the seams of your panties, destroys your socks.
His clawed hands shred your sweater, snap your bra at the straps until all your clothes are left in a heap on the dusty floorboards by a forgotten desk. He crawls over you like a predator, undressed himself now: some how bigger, more hulking than before. His shoulders are broad, muscles flexing while skin so white it's nearly blue stretches over it. Whatever is down here has completely infected him, you can see it in the color of the veins beneath his skin, the slight red in his pupils, the dark blue hues under his eyes.
His wings lift high around him in an arched half circle, tips appearing behind him like a hybrid of horns and halo at once.
"Could smell you from here," he leers, "since last night. Christ, fucking drooling over you like a kid."
You whimper again, body jolting in pain when his nails pierce your thighs when he parts them. Fresh ichor spilling from the wounds in deep sanguine and he doesn't seem to care about the mess he's making while it drips onto the sheets. His cavalier manuevering comes off as though he likes to play with his food before he eats it.
"And I don't know what it is, angel, how my senses find the right ones," he rasps while he leans forward to your blood soaked shoulder; serpent tongue slipping out to lave over it, "But you really called to me this year; think you might be the one."
"The o-one wh-what?" you sniffle. His tongue slides over the lacerations on your shoulder again, sucking slightly from the new wounds. He lets out a groan, using free hand to rest on the side of your rib cage for support.
He deatches from the well he drinks from, tip of his nose running over your decollatage and up your neck. In inhales over your jugular, pressing a wet kiss under your jaw before getting to your ear.
"The one I mate with, sweetheart," he breathes, "The one I breed."
Breed? You heart sinks like a stone into your belly, body tensing in a freeze while you think of what to do. How to get out of here.
"Wait," you gasp, arms coming up to push at his chest and push him away, "No, please, wait -- you can't."
You push and push but he's a stone pillar, he barely moves, his muscles barely push inward at your assault. He tuts, the click of his tongue between his teeth almost a chitter. He noses your cheek before looming over you, tips of your noses brushing. He catches your gaze again, the whispers start while the air blows in through the broken window. Obedire domino tuo, obedire domino tuo, obedire domino tuo. His lips aren't moving but you can hear his low voice in your ears, barely there, swirling around in your subconcious while the wind whispers with it. Another flash of red lightning illuminates him in a streak, the rumble of thunder vibrating your belly and chest. His hand floats up from your rib cage while you settle, cupping your cheek to slide down to your jaw and over your neck. The touch is nearly comforting, dipping you back into a haze like before.
"You were saying?" he asks.
"Hm?" your brows pinch, his voice muffled and far away.
"That's what I thought," he says smugly, head dipping back down to your neck where his lips drag over your delicate skin. His breath leaves a patch of wet heat that lingers when he moves down over your chest, fangs peeking out behind his full lips when he drags them over the swell of your left breast.
A gentle gasp escapes you, eyes fluttering closed when the tip of his tongue teases your pert nipple, blowing cool air against it once soaked with his spit. He flicks against it again, alternating sides, presses kisses over them in clear ownership. The more he tasted of you, the more it belonged to him.
With each touch and tease of your tits the more you gasp and whine beneath him, he chuckles from his belly, moving down to your sternum.
"And I died a virgin, can you believe it?" he asks with a cocky lift to one of his brows, "Now all I gotta do is smile and girls like you 'll just fall into bed with me."
There's cotton in your ears, all you can do is nod slowly while blood still leaks from your shoulder and thighs. All you can feel is his mouth and hands travel further and further down. The wind howls and the low chant in the back of your head changes tune but in the same cadence; over and over again: vis, sentis, obedis. Vis, sentis, obedis. Vis, sentis, obedis.
He licks a stripe up the back of your thigh to catch a bead of blood before it reaches the mattress, savoring you. He feeds from the gouges he left behind for a moment before inching forward to the apex of your thighs. Eddie inhales your scent deeply, the earthly musk of you making his mouth water in a mix of metal and spit. His nose brushes against the untrimmed hair of your mound, ghosting himself over it drunk with attraction.
Your body heats up with mild embarrassment, flexing while your hips writhe slightly underhim. Almost as if he can hear your thoughts he kisses the crease of your thigh, "Nothing to be embarrassed about, baby. Girls don't let it grow like this anymore n' it's such a shame."
You want to speak up and explain it's just 'cause you haven't had the time but your tongue doesn't know how to move anymore. Too tired to speak, too caught up in how he feels, how he touches, how he takes what he wants. You relent again, body relaxing; pliant while he spreads you apart for him a desperate moan pulling from you when his tongue -- still soaked in your blood -- glides from the pool of slick at your opening all the way up to your clit.
You almost gag at the way your body betrays you, sending a spread of electricity over your nerves from your core to your finger tips. "More," you whisper, not even believing you're begging for him, "Please, more."
Eddie's smug in his response, smiling with his eyes while he looks up at you from between your legs, "And good manners? You spoil me, princess."
Your back arches in a soft curve when your hips push back into the mattress, pressing yourself into his waiting mouth. He groans again when your body drips for him, leaving a damp sheen on his cheeks and chin. It's not about your pleasure despite how much of it he's bringing you, but about your consumption. He's devouring you. Licking his plate clean from the outside in.
The moans he takes from you spur him on, getting you further and further away from the fight you put up before. Spilling over for him like a puddle while you writhe, a hand reaching out to rake through his hair. His own reaches up from aroud your thigh to hold you by the wrist tight to your side.
"Hands to yourself," he murmrs, soft lips wrapping around your swollen clit to suck expertly on the bud. You whimper, tugging at his hold but it only makes his grip more intense, pinning you there without much a fight. Not even enough to distract him from the task at hand.
When his tongue sinks back down into your soaking core you feel it, the heat pulsing through your belly while he lets the muscle dip and swirl in your wetness. Your thighs twitch and shake when his nose bumps your sensitive clit, his free hand coming up to gingerly rub circles over it in tandem.
"Oh my god," you whine, "Oh my god -- K-kas don' -- oh my god, ohmygod." He snickers, contining his movements, murmuring a quiet, "God's not here, baby."
Another roll over your hips sends you reeling, his tongue gliding in long strokes when finally the coil in your belly snaps. You fall apart beneath him, loud moans and high pitched squeals while he consumes you through it. Your body vibrates, thighs clamping down over his ears, blood from the slices in your flesh staining his hair and jaw.
He hums low when you settle, gasping for breath on your already dry and scratchy throat while you come down.
Eddie rises slowly, shoulder blades and wings moving with him while he crawls up your body. Smooth and languid like a snake, his torso hovers above yours while he settles his hips between your thighs. You look up at him, his shape, the way his eyes have blown black, the newfound sharpness in his features. A creature, a monster in your wake — not the same person you saw at the cemetery.
“Oh,” he coos when he sees your eyes glassy and rounded upon him, “So precious.”
You're much weaker now, mind and body, the stings across your skin from the broken branches and his sharpened nails a pain you've become better accquainted with. You take another breath of calm, arms resting by your head with your palms up towards the ceiling. He takes the moment of surrender to hold them down against the bed. The pressure of his hips against yours keeps you pinned, but you barely fight -- maybe squirm, maybe whine. No thrashing, no screaming, the whispers echo through the wind again:
Vis, sentis, obedis. Vis, sentis, obedis.
"So, so, precious," he whispers while he leans forward, kisses pressed to one cheek and then the other slow and controlled. He inhales again when he dips down to your neck, piercing fangs dragging over the vein there. You feel the push and then the pain, the unbearable blinding pain of his teeth ripping through you. Through your skin, through the muscle, the pulse of his mouth while he holds himself there.
You cry out, nearly a scream while he holds himself there -- just enough to infect you, just enough to get the poison in. The pain reaches a blinding peak, bile growing up your throat, eyes filling with a white hot surge of anguish and then -- Nothing. Euphoria. An unknown lightness you hadn't felt before.
He releases, still holding tight to your wrists above your head when he raises up over you again.
"Open," he instructs, and in your hazy gaze you obey. Your tongue flattens against your chin without command.
"Very good, sweetheart," he praises, collecting the blood left on his lips and in his cheeks to spit it directly into your waiting mouth.
"You can close now," he grins, "And swallow."
He grunts, hips sliding against you so that you can feel his length between your legs; the girth alone sends a chill to the part of you that is screaming inside your head. How is it supposed to fit? How is he supposed to get this inside you? "Don't worry," he laughs, "It'll fit."
When your vision snaps up at him he laughs again, "I can hear you in there, princess. I can always hear you."
He dips down again, tip of his nose sliding over your cheek to your ear, "So be very careful what you think about."
He doesn't need his hands to guide the head of himself into your already needy center. It's a stretch, delicious but nearing painful. It's not something you've ever even dreamed of taking before; thick, large, inhuman.
Your legs lift on their own accord while he pushes in further, getting half way while you let out a choked sob.
"Aw, shh, shh, shh," he mocks, easing in more, "C'mon you can take it."
"You can --" his hips snap in hard for the rest of him, letting out a ragged grunt when the rest of him disappears inside you, "--take it."
You mouth hangs open in a desperate oval, face crumpling when you become so full of him -- all encompassing. A part of you now, buried deep within. He moves, dangerously slow and controlled; methodic in how he thrusts himself deeper and deeper inside. "Mmm, that's it," he growls, chest to chest with him while his hip grind at a deliberate pace. You feel his hot breath fan out over your lips, forehead pressed against yours. He's not hot, he's not cold, just skin against yours while it flashes with heat. You go from shaking to sweating with minutes in between.
When your hips roll to meet his thrusts you moan, the tip hitting you so deep in your core that stars burst behind your eyes. "There we go," he grins mischeviously, "S'at feel good, pet?"
"Ooh, yes," you hiss through gritted teeth, actively trying to bounce yourself againsth him now that your body has started accommodating his sheer size. He raises himself up on his hands like a cobra, snake like peering down at you while he meets the roll of your hips with an unforgiving thrust.
"Good," he oozes the word out like smoke, deliciosly deep seated in his belly when he thrusts hard again. He mumbles a quiet musing to himself that you can't hear -- too gone in the lightness in your body, in the way nothing hurts, in the way you're so full.
Can finally fuck you how I wanna.
He gets up, sitting back on his haunches while still inside you, pushing your legs up so your knees end up by your ears. With this leverage he sinks in deep. You don't even know how far in he is, just that he's in and he's there, he's everywehre, he's outside and in.
Eddie locks eyes with you, that same smirk from the cemetary that made your stomach flip dancing across his devilish features, "Tell me you like it."
Your mouth moves before your brain can hesitate, "I like it." "Tell me you need it," he demands, tone measured and sure.
"I need it," you say back, your voice coming out broken and weak, "Please, I need it."
He pulls back and punches forward, hard enough that you gasp at the impact. He grips you hard by the backs of your legs, thrusts starting slow and building at an unrelenting pace. His eyes are wild; boring down at you through from under furrowed and determined brows. If you had any mind left, you'd think that he hates you by the way he stares.
"Fuck," he snarls, leaning forward over you, one hand pressing down on the mattress next to your head, "Shit -- fuck, that's it. That's fuckin' -- shit, you're fuckin' mine." "Say you need me."
"I need you," you choke back without thinking, barely able to breathe at his speed. The coil tightens deep inside of you again, tears pouring down your cheeks in waves -- not even crying, just recieving. Absorbing him. Your body rocks like a boat on unsteady waves pinned beneath him, the only sounds are the whispers in your subconcious, his growls and sputters like an animal above you. The lewd slaps of skin against skin, the squelches of him pushing you to your limits.
He steadies himself over you, nose to nose again while he fucks you. Really fucks you. Impressed with himself, he lets out a breathy chuckle when you throw your head back -- eyes shutting tight with a pornographic scream.
"Oh GOD!" you cry out, "Oh my god."
His fingers and claws catch your chin with a firm shake, eyes snapping open to meet the knowing glare of his ruddy brown ones.
"Your god," he starts, panting into your mouth, "is right here in front of you."
You swallow, mouth falling agape again when you feel the bite of his nails on the fat of your cheeks. "Right here," you repeat, dazed and overwhelmed, "N'..n'fronname."
"Right here in front of you," he nods, leaning down to brush his nose against yours while his thrusts slow to a steady pace. It's then that his lips meet yours, the kiss searing with desire and claim when his tongue slides into your mouth. You can taste the metallic twang of your blood in his mouth, sighing into it while he guides the kiss. Breaking away and coming back in; rushed and heated each time while he feels himself get closer to his peak.
His forehead presses against yours, one hand finally releasing your wrist to hold your head in place over your hair. You keep eye contact with him, not even sure if you're blinking, if you even need to blink. You rasp breaths, mouth and throat dry and aching while you breathe into him. You're close, teetering on the edge while he pushes you up with his hips to rest your lower body on his knees and thighs.
"Come undone," he murmurs, "Let go for me."
The command ripples through you, bursting through your belly with a warm heat. You welcome it, eyes rolling, cries pouring from you in words you don't think you understand. He encourages you, offering you rough sweet nothings while you pray to him, beg for him, ache for him.
That's enough to send him over; seeing you completely at his mercy now. Obedient, trained, devoured.
He snares and snarls, growling while he comes deep inside of you. The hand on your head wraps painfully in your hair like it did before you started -- uncaring, brutal. The heat of his seed pools deep within you like the heart of your orgasm. Glazed over you groan, hips rolling up in one final cant to receive him fully. Your vision vingettes while he unsheathes from you; fluids leaking onto the sheets. You're empty and the room spins with a new blackness, you're fading. Fainting? Dying?
The fuzziness continues to darken arouns you, around him, until he's all that's left in the tunnel of your vision. "That's a good girl," he soothes smugly, "Very well done."
Your gaze and mind fade fully to a staticky black.
Tumblr media
You wake, you’re not sure how much later.
Still on the bed and still undressed but your arms feel tight – a tug reveals your current state. Bound to a post on the headboard by a triple handcuff knot, dense hemp rope keeping your arms above your head.
You whine and struggle, coming to your senses now – no one knows where you are, you barely know where you are. An underworld – hell. Somewhere.
“Don’t look so terrified, sweetheart,” his smooth honey voice is heard before he appears in the candle light again, “I’m right here.”
“Wh-why am I –” you swallow thickly, coughing and sputtering with how dry your mouth and throat are now, “Why am I tied up?”
He looks at you with faux concern, brows raising, “Oh honey, are you okay?”
He reaches out, pushing your hair away from your face, “Don’t be stressed. Y’know something – I just realized, I never offered you anything to drink.”
“My uncle always told me you should take a girl out to dinner before makin’ the van rock and look at me,” he gestures at his chest, tutting at himself, “Where are my manners, huh?”
Your lip wobbles while he looms over you, “Are you thirsty?”
You nod, he grins – cheshire like, fangs glinting in the light, “I thought you would be.” He gets up, lazy and confident in his walk across the room. His body looks like marble, chiseled with the running and hunting you realize he’s been doing for over a decade. Stronger than ever; ethereal in his post orgasm glow.
He pulls his hair back while he walks, holding it up away from his neck while your eyes travel down his back where his wings have tucked in under the skin. You gag when you see them move above his blades, rippling beneath the tattoos he has there. He’s dressed in only shorts; silk – likely stolen to really own the whole vampire thing he has going on.
You take in a shaky breath when he gets what he needs, dropping his hair back to his shoulders when he makes his way back to you.
He holds the dagger coolly in his hand before gliding the tip down the center of his wrist. Blood blooms from the wound; he doesn’t even flinch.
“Open, princess,” he murmurs. Your lips clamp shut, shaking your head no while fear takes over – rot in your chest. He catches your chin again, forcing you to look at him like before.
“Open,” he repeats, slower. His voice reverberates like a gong between your ears.
Your mouth opens on its own accord and the smell of his blood becomes the most alluring scent you’ve had pass your nose in years. You latch on to the laceration, swallowing and sucking deeply on the wound while his blood and body quench and feed you better than any meal you think you’ve ever had. You feel revived as you devour him, eyes fluttering closed while the fill feels never enough.
“That’s it, keep goin’,” he encourages under his breath, “Won’t have to keep asking you to do things twice once this is all over with.”
You break away to breathe, gasping like you’re coming up for air, drowning in him.
“What do you mean?”
“I mean you’ll be just like me, sweetheart,” he says, chuckling when you eagerly lean forward to drink him again, “After a night of some deeply insurmountable pain; and then nothing. Just mine. Undead and mine.”
“But y–you said you were – I’m –” your brows knit in confusion, “You didn’t h-have to d-do this; whatever you um – whatever you bred me with will die if you do this.”
“Oh, no, no,” he laughs evilly, “I didn’t breed you quite yet.”
He pulls his arm away, wiping the blood from your chin with his thumb roughly.
“Consider what we did a, uh…hmm,” he takes a second to think about it with a hum, shrugging cheekily, “A soul bonding experience.”
“You’re disgusting,” you spit.
“I’m delicious,” he corrects, smearing his blood from your chin to your cheek, “If you do say so yourself.”
He gets up again, pulling the covers out from under you to tuck you in. The chill getting to you in a way it never gets to him; you might as well be warm while you turn into actualized death.
“I can hear you, remember?” he asks, tapping your head, “You won’t be totally alone with me. There’s…shit there are plenty just like us.”
“Like Steve,” you pipe up groggily.
“More than just goodie two-shoes Harrington,” he groans, “God, do you ever shut up about him?”
You sniffle in response.
“I mean this place, this – dimension,” he says, “It’s more than just Hawkins, and there are so many more like us; even up there.”
He points upwards with a sharp nailed finger, “All around.”
“And now that you’ll be just like me,” he smiles, sitting on the edge of the bed next to you in the crook of you waist, “There’ll be all the time in the world to breed you.”
Your vision blurs, either from tears or from another fade, you aren’t sure. You can feel a slow burn through your veins, a rush of blood. You whimper.
“So it begins,” he smirks, running the tip of his finger over your nose bridge.
“Oh!” he says, eyes bulging, “Before I forget, and before I lose you – because you’ll be such a pretty blank slate when you come to – I felt like I should be honest.”
He gestures dramatically, a maniacal grin pushing his cheeks up to his eyes while they spark, “Again with my manners, it was so rude of me to introduce myself to Pete’s grave at the cemetery. We’ve met before! Can’t believe I had almost forgotten.”
Ice in your body fights the burning in your veins, you gag, bile coming up to singe your throat.
“And y’know, I didn’t mean to drop him in the quarry when I was done with him,” he says with a scrunch of his nose, like he accidentally wrote the wrong tip on a restaurant check, “Really, my mistake, but Christ did he hit every piece of limestone on the way down.”
He lets out a hearty laugh while he remembers it, your brother's body bouncing off rocks and metal before slipping under the water. You swallow your sick only or it to rise back up with a vengeance, staining your skin red while it seeps out of the corner of your mouth. You tug on the ropes in retaliation, hot angry tears stinging your eyes.
“All that fallin’ did a number on him – which is good because it really took the heat of anyone knowing it was me. I just wasn't as clean about it back then. Much better now though,” he nods, finishing with a superior and charming look like he just told a bedtime story.
He leans forward close to your face while your vision pulses in fuzzy black, browning out while he looks down at you.
“And I’ll tell you something, babe…”
Fading, fading, fading.
“He tasted divine.”

streamer!ellie headcanons
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
warnings: yo no se
content : streamer!ellie headcanons 🔥🔥
authors note : the streets r calling and they’re telling me to write streamer ellie hcs….
- def started off as a faceless streamer. she wasn’t really comfortable on camera, and she just thought it would be way easier. you can only see her shoulders-down leaving her (deliciosu. scrumptious. yummy) arms in the cameras view.
- her twitch user is “creeperewman” cuz shes like…discreetly hiding her initials and referencing the best minecraft parody ever 😕!!!
- bought the most random shitty mic and webcam and started streaming 🔥🔥 she never got rid of either of them its part of her odd loser charm
“‘fartmaster69:it’s probably cuz your camera’ it’s probably bc of YOUR CAMERA!!! theres nothing wrong w my camera bro 😞”
“don’t listen to them…ur perfect 🤫 IM NOT TALKING TO U GUYS IM TALKING TO MY CAMERA”
- only had a few viewers the first couple times she streamed, and it was some random 10 yr old who kept spamming “yassss” in the chat and some dude who said she was shit at minecraft 😞 he was LYING
- started off doing minecraft speed runs (or trying to) and got like way good over time
- she randomly started getting more and more viewers, because people kept posting abt her and calling her fine on tiktok , making edits of her hands and her voice 😭😭 (real)
- as she got more and more viewers, she started branching out more with the games she’d play. def loves shooter games like cod and pubg, but she’d also play like indie horror games like faith (omg markiplier fans would know)
- she has a orange cat she named garfield (cuz…of course she does) and he’s always sitting on her lap during her streams or messing w her setup 💔💔
- def put stickers all over her headset and showed them off all proud on stream
- designed her own cute banners and stuff for streams 😞!!!
- def had a subreddit/disc server with her viewers where she’d let them give her game recs or make memes of her
- ppl saw her guitar in the back of her streams and BEGGED HER to play it and she had her own lil concert stream !!! she was so freaking nervous and messed up a bunch the first like minute or two but like after that she was in the ZONE
“‘ewswife: i wish i was that guitar’ oh!! you guys are so…kind!!!”
- when she INSANELY hit 1k, she did a face reveal and she hit 10k the same day 😦 the amount of edits that ppl made was actually insane. ESP ONES MAKING FUN OF DREAMS FACE REVEALLLL
- started doing much more random shit on stream after she got more famous. she LOVES cooking on stream, and she’d start reacting to random shit ppl sent her on the subreddit
- she cut her hair on stream once, and everyone in the chat kept spamming “yo bob…is fye” for like 5 minutes 😪
- “you’re at work watching me? i hope you get fired. i mean. i hope you don’t get fired 😞”
- she gets so many thirst comments and like…is terrible at responding to them
“‘ewleftbicep: you look so vulnerable today’ WHAT”
- she has her own apartment cuz of her awesome streaming money 🔥🔥🔥 soundproofed walls too cuz she’s. loud.
- one day, you were walking on campus to a class. you had your headphones on, listening to your main playlist on shuffle, when you got stopped by someone. you pulled your headphones off your ears and gave the man in front of you a confused look. you looked down to his hands, holding a tiny mic, and another dude holding a camera.
“what song are you listening to?” he held the microphone towards you, awaiting your response.
you quickly responded “uhm, last goodbye, by jeff buckley.” and stood there awkwardly, pushing a piece of hair out of your face.
the man quickly thanked you and you walked away, slightly suprised.
- after a couple hours, the video had blown up and the comments were filled with people complimenting you.
pickleluna: jeff buckley girl is so fine
minyonlala: 3rd girl is so bad
rilakkila: I NEED JEFF BUCKLEY GIRL
and unknown to you, someone else found you on their fyp.
creeperewman: guys what is the 3rd girls @. im literally BEGGING BRO PLEASEEE
- ewleftbicep: BEING DESPERATE ON MAIN IS CRAZY
- ewsgirlf: random tiktok girl stole my wife 💔
- elliewilliamsidechick: guys im literally the 3rd girl 😂😂😂
- it didn’t take long for your phone to be blown up with people sending you the video, tagging you in funny comments, and finding your instagram. you watched the video, and saw ellie was the top comment. you checked her profile, and saw how FINE she was, and immediately responded
- y/nmainn: guys 😳😳😳 what if i was the third girl 😳😳
- ellie checked her phone and saw thousands of people tagging your comment, and she wasted zero time following you on tiktok. and your instagram. its not stalking if its in your bio, right?
- you two immediately hit it off, and ellie loved the fact that you had absolutely no idea who she was. to you, she was just some hot girl. not some famous streamer you were obsessed with.
- she didn’t even realize you two went to the same school until she saw you in her astrophysics class one day, and she almost had a heart attack when you waved at her and walked over to sit next to her.
“what a coincidence.”
- she took you out on your first date to a planetarium, and not even a week after, asked you to be her girlfriend.
- she definitely teaches you how to play her favorite games. but she gets wayyyy defensive when you beat her.
“im just letting you win.”
“beginners luck.”
but shes SO COCKY when she beats you
“hey, don’t be so hard on yourself after this. not your fault im a professional!”
“aw, maybe one day you’ll be as good as me”
- definitely helps you build your own pc.
- loves watching you play things like animal crossing or stardew valley, always lays on your shoulder while you’re on the couch.
“why are you being so mean to gaston :((“
“because hes UGLY and he has an ugly house and he’s ruining my village.”
“wowww you’re bullying a little bunny man because he doesn’t fit your aesthetic 😒 so mean”
- if you like more aggressive games like cod, she loves listening to you talk shit while you play and always makes fun of people with you. (she thinks its hot when you’re mean to people)
- her chat absolutely loves you, and every time you stream together its a continuous stream of “me and who” and “when is it my turn 😪”

had me at hello
todoroki shouto; 4,082 words; fluff, tiny sprinkle of angst, no "y/n", summer camp, canon-divergent, domestic fluff, teeth-rotting fluff, summer-time romance, self-indulgent as all living fuck
summary: nothing lasts forever, not even goodbye. or, in which todoroki shouto discovers that summer flings really aren't his thing
a/n: chat we are SO back. back on this todoroki brain rot GRIND!!! and as opposed to posting at the last possible second for @pixelcafe-network's challenge friday like i did last time, i'm posting mine first this time to make up for it! the theme was "saying goodbye to a summer love" ♡⸜(˶˃ ᵕ ˂˶)⸝♡
Tumblr media
It was to be a whirlwind summer, one that’s different from every one that came before it. Todoroki had thought, naively, that summer training camp would end up being just that — just another summer thing.
And he’d never been fond of the heat.
But you — you’d swept in like the rain, all bluster and brilliant, summer-thunder laughter. You struck across his storm-ridden skies like a spark of lightning, setting all his forests ablaze.
At first, he didn’t think much of it. Didn’t think much of the volunteers that the Pussycats had brought along to help around camp. Groupies, he’d dismissed, and thought of it no more. But the first night everyone came back, exhausted and sore and sweating in places they’d never thought could produce sweat, you’d been there along with the others (he doesn’t remember their names now, but he remembers yours), passing around cold water and setting up the food for dinner.
“Here,” you hand him a water bottle; he dips his head, his chest still heaving from exertion. He twists off the cap and gulps down half the bottle, feeling a cool trickle escape the corner of his mouth to run down his chin. He wipes at it with the back of his hand just as you cast him a grin before turning around to hand another water bottle to Kirishima.
Todoroki swallows, his palms warm, watching as you laugh at something someone says. He lingers on the gloss in your hair and the ease of your smile. He wonders what kind of quirk you might have; he catches himself wondering, and then proceeds to wonder why he’s wondering at all.
He thinks it’s the heat — fanning himself, he looks away — glancing up at the smoldering sky before sighing and capping his water bottle.
“They must love you at school, huh?” you ask, your voice jolting him out of one reverie and into another. Dinner’s almost done, and he’d wandered toward the edge of the wood for a moment of quiet, of peace or sanctity. He hadn’t noticed you following him, and that in and of itself should have set his senses on high. But, the air is tepid and the humidity heavy, and Todoroki only has time to cock a single eyebrow before you smile and continue —
“Your quirk — keeps you cool in the summer, and warm in the winter. Useful, no?”
He watches you watching him, your eyes huge and full of the dancing flames. He looks back towards the rest of his classmates, all chatting and laughing, grouped loosely with one another, Ashido flitting from one group to the other like the social butterfly she is.
“It’s alright,” Todoroki answers, surprising even himself. He drops his eyes, fixing his gaze on a point just above his own feet before you laugh, the sound drawing his attention back towards you.
“You’re not a very good liar, but that’s okay. It’s not a bad thing.”
You shoot him another grin.
“Your quirk,” he says, clearing his throat slightly as he feels a distinct heat prickling up the sides of his neck, “can I ask what it is?”
You list your head to one side, your expression curiously blank. Before you shoot him a smile that can only be called devious.
You nudge him with an arm before dancing away, but that momentary contact is all you’d needed. Todoroki feels his whole body relax, feels some of the tension drop from his shoulders, the strange nervousness that had been coiling in his stomach unclench.
“Guess!”
Someone calls your name from over your shoulder.
“Coming!”
You give him one final wink before dashing off, leaving him dazed, head reverberating as if someone had rung him through like a bell on a Sunday morning.
The weeks had passed in a strange blur after that, as if some vengeful giant had gone stomping through his memories, dragging a large hand across the vivid scenes, smearing the colors and scrambling the timelines. He remembers the ever-present ache in his muscles, the eternal shortness of breath that had accompanied the first few weeks, but he also remembers your presence in the evenings — always in the evenings, the shadow of you flickering around each and every one of his classmates, mostly asking about their days, but sometimes placing a comforting hand here or there.
He remembers your touch well, the gentle anchor of it, the immediate relief.
“Your quirk… it has something to do with feelings, doesn’t it?” he asks one night, a towel draped around his shoulders from a recent shower, his hair still damp in the early evening dark.
You flash him an enigmatic smile, swinging your feet as you turn your head back towards the liquid moonlight casting pale shadows along the edges of the summer-still leaves.
“What makes you say that?”
“Just…” Todoroki joins you, letting his arm brush along yours, his eyes following your gaze as he too sweeps the now empty campgrounds, the remnants of the barbeque fires still smoldering in their pits, the smoke twisting towards the cloudless sky like so many misty-tendrilled streams.
“Had a feeling.”
“A feeling, huh?” you echo, laughing softly, looking back down.
Todoroki doesn’t push you, but you don’t deny it either.
“You’re not wrong,” you say, after a brief moment of silence, “my quirk — it’s not offensive, or even defensive but… if I’m touching someone, I can… siphon their feelings into me,” and as if to demonstrate, you gently press your leg to his, and Todoroki feels the tired wariness drain from him, the feeling of ease trickling through him like hot water cascading down his skin.
He stifles a soft groan, feeling a blush press up against his cheeks.
You move your leg away, leaning back till your head is resting against the back of the park bench, poised at the edge of the large encampment.
“But that’s…” Todoroki searches for the right word — somehow ‘useful’ doesn’t seem quite right.
“No, you’re right,” you say, giggling even as you save him the necessity of finishing his sentence, “it’s a good quirk to have. It’s… necessary.”
But the way you say that word sounds a little too much like heartbreak for Todoroki to ignore.
“You said siphon…” he says, after a brief stretch of quiet, and he tastes the word on his tongue as if saying it for the first time.
“Yeah, that’s right,” you say, and longing is too close a friend of his for him not to notice it threaded through your voice like a secret.
“Which means… whatever you take from the person you’re touching… you have to feel it too, right?”
You lick your lips, your eyes flickering down to your hands, palms open.
“Yes.”
It’s a simple answer, but one that lands with a gut-punch of implication. Todoroki swallows, shifting ever so slightly to let his knee rest against yours. He tries his hardest to focus on calmness, to project relief. You turn to flash him a smile.
“You’re sweet,” and he hadn’t meant to blush, hadn’t meant for his heart to kick up like a drumbeat, but does. And he knows, instinctively, that you’d felt it too — passing through from his skin to yours by some strange glitch of nature.
He makes to pull away, but you reach out to rest a hand on his arm.
And almost instantly, he feels his heartbeat calm, feels the heat receding. But it isn’t like before — it isn’t the feeling of having something leave his body, but rather having something pressed in. Like a warm blanket settling over his shoulders, or a cold hand to ward off unwanted heat. Your calm seeps into him like summer rain, cooling his mind until he’s breathing steady.
He blinks down at you, startled.
“It goes both ways,” you say, and he can see the twin glow of warmth high in your cheeks. He spares a moment wondering if that blush had once belonged to him, if you were just holding onto it for a bit longer before letting it go. You move your hand away and he has to fight down the urge to pull it back.
“Oh,” is the only thing he can think of to say.
You are everywhere after that — perhaps not in the physical sense, but Todoroki seems to have lost the ability to not notice you. Or maybe he’s just gained the ability to — to what? Develop a crush? Is that even what this is? He doesn’t know — he’s never had one before to compare it to.
But he can’t help now how instantly his attention snags on the sound of your voice, like a stray thread on a mesh-wire fence, or how an unshakable shiver traces down his spine whenever you’re near. He feels childish, like he did when he was too little to control his quirk. But he’d learned since then, hadn’t he?
Hadn’t he?
“It’s all just hormones!” he overhears Ashido say to Uraraka one night, the girls all clustered together on a single long sofa, limbs against limbs, cheeks pillowed on shoulders, a careless sort of closeness threading them all together. Todoroki’s never thought himself a jealous person, but watching them now, he wonders what it might be like to be able to touch a person with little to no thought at all, for it all to be second nature.
Uraraka blushes something furious, crinkling her nose.
“I — I don’t know…”
“I’m pretty sure whatever Mineta-chan is feeling can’t just be explained by hormones,” Asui says, her eyes huge and dark even as Ashido rolls her eyes.
“Maybe not just hormones, but that’s a large part of it!” Ashido insists.
Dangling on the side of the sofa, one foot tapping to music only she can hear, Jiro glances over and shrugs.
“Boys are weird.”
The girls all make varying sounds of agreement, and Todoroki forces his feet to move, thankful for the thick slab of shadow that had kept him from view of the general common area. He stares ahead as he walks down the long length of hallway, wondering if hormones really are the culprit behind whatever the hell this is.
The grueling days bleed into sweat-slick weeks, and somehow, he finds himself seeking you out more and more often. Sometimes after a particularly hard training session, under the guise of needing some “help” recovering (it had come out that Recovery Girl couldn’t make it so the Pussycats had volunteered you as the next best thing), sometimes without any reason at all, other than the simple want of your company.
He finds himself laughing, finds himself reaching for you — and he blames it on the weather, blames it on the tiredness now eternally sunk into his muscles, the soreness that won’t ever quite go away. He tells himself that it’s just a summer thing, to feel so hot that he gets lightheaded, to laugh until his stomach hurts, to feel the inexplicable itch to graze your hand with his when you’re sitting too close and not nearly close enough.
Thinking back, he’d known it would never last. You’d told him early on that you don’t live in the city. But that it’s not too far, if ever he wanted to visit.
“Camp’ll be over in a few weeks,” you say, lying back on a patch of sun-dried grass, beneath a swirling canopy of stars, Todoroki sitting beside you, his arms propping up his torso as he stares up at the sky alongside you.
“Yeah. I’m surprised it’s been so peaceful,” he says.
You laugh, shooting him a curious look.
“Used to getting in trouble?”
“There… seem to be a few of my classmates that attract trouble. Of all kinds.”
“I don’t mind a bit of trouble.”
“Don’t you?”
You grin up at him as he glances down at you.
“Not one bit.”
You feel him shifting as he lies down next to you, your elbows brushing in the grass. He feels a jolt of electricity snake up his arm, coiling in the base of his belly. For a second, he wonders if its a him-feeling, or a you-feeling. And then, he realizes that it doesn’t really matter — and before he knows it, he’s twisting to his side, leaning over just far enough to press his lips to yours.
In the grand scheme of kisses, Todoroki thinks that it might not have been the most well-positioned kiss, or the most well thought-out. And for all everyone calls him genius, this is one thing he’s never really had the chance to practice. Still, by the time he realizes that he’s kissing you, he barely has the chance to reconcile with the fact that you’re kissing him too. You, pressing up against him and pulling him down all at once.
His lips on yours, and yours on his — an endless echo of this kiss, and this kiss, and just this kiss. He feels his heartbeat like a reverberation, because he thinks he can feel yours too. He loses feeling in all his limbs, and wonders briefly if this is what free-falling might be like — to feel weightless, to be lifted outside of yourself.
You reach up to press a hand to his cheek, and he feels himself being shunted back into his body. He feels each of his limbs like discovering them for the very first time — his fingers tangled in your hair, his other arm wrapped tightly around your waist, pulling you in, holding you close. He does not remember pulling away. But he must have, because he remembers gasping for a breath he’s long since lost to the heave of your lungs.
He feels fire, and ice, and the spinning song of a million overhead stars.
“Is this — are you —” he struggles for words but you just smile.
“I don’t know — sometimes when I’m too —” you swallow, a bit breathless yourself, the head-thrumming heat of it all passing between the pair of you like a whisper, or a secret, “when I’m too excited I — I’ll accidentally make someone else feel it too but —”
You look back up to catch his eyes, and he finds himself smiling.
“It’s not just you,” he says, quiet and sure. Because this, whatever this is, is more than just a quirk — more than just the accidental bleeding of feelings from one body to another. More than simple empathy — it’s entropy.
A chaos of feelings.
Because he’d felt it bubbling inside him, alone at night, staring up at the moon-slatted ceiling. Wondering what it might be like to hold your hand.
And maybe this is what Ashido had been talking about — with hormones and urges and all the woes that come with being a teenage boy. But he doesn’t care; there’s time to worry about that later. For now, he thinks he’d just like to kiss you again.
And so, he does.
Time passes by strangely after that — and though neither of you had intended on it, the budding relationship between the pair of you had become a known secret. No one had ever called it out by name, but no one questions Todoroki either when he wanders off after dinner. No one blinks twice when you press a hand to the back of his neck after morning drills, smiling when he lets out a soft, pleased sigh.
Even years later, Todoroki can’t quite piece together the exact timeline of things. He remembers the late nights, staying up just to talk to you, wandering through the woods, you jumping at a rabbit or a squirrel, and him slipping his hand through yours with a silent reassurance. He remembers telling you about himself — even though he doesn’t remember you asking. About his father, his mother, his siblings, his scar.
He remembers how you’d reached out and held his anger and sorrow and resentment in your upturned palms, how you cradled them like bruised fruit, with delicate fingers and a smile that looked not one bit like pity. How you did not run.
He remembers you telling him about your childhood too, of your quirk being used and abused by careless adults and ruthless children alike. Of how your parents had used you as one might use a bad therapist, like a dumping ground for unwanted emotions. Of how you learnt to deal with the unbearable weight of all those feelings — things that a little girl should never have to learn how to deal with on her own.
He remembers how you held him and he held you, and how you both had allowed yourselves to hold and be held by each other.
But what he remembers most is the ending — the last night of camp, when he knew he’d be leaving the next morning. All the bags are packed, and they’d all come out stronger. It had been an uneventful, tiring sort of camp, where nothing happened except daily training, but for a class full of teens with super-human powers and the uncanny ability to attract life-threatening situations, it could be called a resounding success.
“Excited to be going back to school?” you ask.
He watches you drag a pale pink nail polish over your fingers, one by one, blowing on each finger as you smooth out the color with steady swipes.
“I guess so. We have provisional license exams coming up, so I doubt we’ll get much rest after this.”
“Aww… but I guess no one ever said becoming a hero was an easy thing, right?” you laugh, tossing him a good-natured wink.
He sighs, leaning back against the wall of your camp room.
“Nothing worth having is ever easy.”
“Hm…” you hum, finishing off your manicure and carefully screwing the brush back into the nail polish bottle.
Todoroki turns to find you frowning slightly at your nails.
“What’s wrong?”
“Just…” you press your hands carefully into your lap, “it got me thinking — this was… easy, wasn’t it?”
And he doesn’t have to ask what you’d meant by this. Because he knows. And with a jolt, he realizes that yes. This was easy. It was so easy, being with you, in this secluded place. So easy to laugh without worrying about the outside world, to forget, if only for a while.
Easy to kiss you, to hold you, to push away the thoughts of tomorrows and endings until — well.
“Yeah…” Todoroki breathes, “I guess… I guess it was.”
Silence blooms between you like a plume of smoke.
“But… I mean,” you say, waving your hands through the air to help your nails along, before slumping back into your pillows, “it was never going to be forever, right?”
And this time, Todoroki can’t quite tell if you’re talking about this or perhaps — he can’t help the tiny bead of hope coalescing in his chest — a future where your goodbye is the thing that doesn’t last forever.
“No,” he answers, allowing himself a small smile as he looks down at his own hands, “nothing really ever is.”
You giggle, rolling over to peer at him from your stomach, “You’re so serious.”
But by the time he lifts his head, you’d already crawled over to press your lips to his. It’s a sweet kiss, a simple kiss, and Todoroki feels his chest seize inside him, his arms going heavy with a liquid weight. When you pull away, he notices your eyes are fractured with tears. You wipe them away with a laugh.
“Look at me — I’m so silly.”
Todoroki shakes his head, reaching out to cup your cheeks gently between his hands, the way you’d taught him to with his own jagged emotions. And he feels it then, your sadness, your uncertainty, the stomach-twisting knowledge of endings.
“The beginning might’ve been easy but… this isn’t.”
You hiccup, going still as he holds you.
“So… I guess we were worth it after all, huh,” you say, looking down at the space between you.
Todoroki nods, leaning forward just enough to press his forehead to yours, nudging your nose with his for a second before bringing you in for yet another kiss. He pulls away and tastes salt on his lips.
“That’s how we know — because the ending is hard. That’s how we know it was worth it.”
When the next morning comes, you don’t cry when you wave them all off, though many of the girls are. You catch his gaze and hold it for just a second longer than you’d done with anyone else. Beside him on the bus, Aoyama makes a soft, knowing kind of noise.
“Ah… first love is always such sweet despair,” he says, twinkling in his usual way.
Todoroki clears his throat, leaning back in his seat, a strange stillness settling over him as he thinks about the days ahead.
“Yeah, I suppose it is,” Todoroki says, to Aoyama’s dramatic surprise. But he recovers quickly and begins a soliloquy about something or other that carries them all the way back into the city, and to their assigned dorms.
He never forgets you, though there are moments when he’d wonder if that summer had really happened. Years later, when the memories have all gone watercolor-pale, and the edges blurred with time, he’ll still find himself reaching into the part of his mind that feels like the soft, steady weight of your hand on the back of his neck to calm him down, the smooth of your skin as you’d pressed against him and held him close.
And then, the year that he turns 24, it happens — he’d been called out into a small town just outside Shizuoka, for some kind of event that Fuyumi swears would be good for his publicity (as if he needed any more). Even after all these years, it still unsettles him to travel alone to these places, and he subconsciously reaches for the feeling of your palm pressing to his skin.
“Shouto?”
He turns at the sound of his name, and though a part of him assumes it’s yet another adoring fan, the deepest, most honest part of him whispers that it isn’t — that he knows this voice.
“Oh… its you,” the words slip from him like pebbles into a thawing stream.
And there you are, standing feet from him, your arms full of groceries, a red and white muffler strung around your shoulders, looking every bit as brilliant as the you from his memories.
The smile that splits your face is beautiful as heartbreak.
“Well, someone very wise once did tell me that nothing lasts forever… not even goodbyes.”
Todoroki takes half a step closer to you, a smile spreading across his own lips as he reaches out to help you with your groceries, taking the bags into his arms. The movement as natural as coming home.
“Yes but… I was thinking about it the other day and —”
“Oh? Just the other day?” you tease, bumping him slightly with your elbow was you set off down the half-empty street. It’s almost sundown, and the days are getting shorter again. Your breath fogs up the air before you and Todoroki suddenly thinks that winter looks good on you.
Even better than summer had.
“Yeah, but I realized…” he says, casting his eyes up at the cloud-strewn sky, the colors fading fast, the thick velvet of night inching up across the world like a curtain being drawn.
He turns his eyes back towards you, only to find you watching him with an indulgent smile on your face.
Todoroki blushes, feeling suddenly bashful, like the teenage boy he was when you two first met.
“I realized,” he says again, determined to finish his thought this time, “that when we first met… we never really said hello.”

If you can just let me know if it’s okay
To call you when I’m lonely
February Cont.
“Show me a picture of this dude so I know who to look out for.” Sarah says after she puts the car in park in my driveway.
My hand trembles as I type in his instagram handle.
“Oh my god. Oh my GOD” she screeches, slapping my arm. “You’re never going to believe me when I say this.”
”What WHAT” I shout back in response, my heart racing and palms getting sweaty.
”Y/N, he was there at the beach that day. During the whole Ruthie thing. He was one of the losers heckling Kie when she was trying to confront them. He’s the reason JJ threatened to kill them all.” My jaw dropped.
”There .. there’s no way. He- he isn’t like that.” I stammer.
”I swear on my mom, y/n. Send that to our group chat for Kie and Cleo to confirm but im so serious that’s him.”
”Fuck. This guy is really not who I thought he was.”
”No, he’s not at all. So, what are you going to do when you see him at school tomorrow?” She said as I unbuckled my seatbelt. I sighed and looked out the window at my house.
“I don't even want to give him the satisfaction of knowing he hurt me. I’m just going to ignore him…. I think” Sarah reached over and squeezed my hand.
“We’re here for you. Im sorry I wasn’t there when you needed me most-“
“It’s Valentine’s Day, I shouldn’t expect any of you to come running to my side, but im glad you did. Will you tell John B hello for me?” I say, cutting her off. She gave me a soft smile and nodded her head.
“Of course” she says and I step out of the car, waving goodbye as I walk towards my front door.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
”Pogue fucker” Noah mumbles under his breath as he passes me in the hall. I stop in my tracks, my body tenses and I process what he just said.
I turn on my heels and look at him straight in the eyes. Sabrina, who was walking down the hall with me, grabs my arm.
”The fuck did you just call me?” I say through gritted teeth.
”you heard me. You’re a pogue fucker.” He says with a smile. His friends standing next to him like a bunch of chumps.
I take a step forward towards him. So much for ignoring him.
”I don’t know who made you think you can say shit like that, but you’re sure as hell not going to say something like that to me.”
”Oh really? What’re you gonna do? Have your boyfriend JJ gun me down?”
I begin to lunge forward before Sabrina holds me back.
”Alright that’s enough Noah” she yells at him, pushing herself infront of me.
”What you did was fucked up Noah, leading her on like that, then ghosting her. She’s not dating JJ by the way, I don’t know where you got that information but its incorrect. And what’s wrong with being a pogue fucker anyways?” She says, crossing her arms over her chest.
His group of friends laugh and Noah looks past Sabrina at me.
”Everyone knows you and JJ fucked, that’s just facts.”
”THATS NOT TRUE” I shout behind Sabrina.
”And you literally just posted about hanging out with Pogues, so there’s no way you aren’t still slumming it down on the cut when you get the chance.” He continues. My blood is boiling at this point. A crowd has started to form around us just before the bell for dismissal rings,
”Besides the fact that you’re an ignorant douche, I suggest you keep this shit to yourself. You’re spreading lies about a nice girl who did NOTHING to you except trust you. Rot in hell, DICK.” She screams the last bit before dragging me by the arm out the front doors of the school.
”Are you okay hun?” She asks, wrapping her arm around my side. My head hung low, avoiding eye contact with anyone, especially those who just saw the altercation go down.
”Yea ‘m fine I just wanna go home.”
”You gonna be okay?” She asks, and I nod my head in response.
”I just want to lay in bed” I say with a sigh.
”I love you” she says before walking towards her car.
”Love you too Sab, thank you.”
When I get into my car I see a text from my mom
Your dad and I decided to leave for Charlotte tonight rather than in the morning, and Lucy decided to come with us. Did you still want to stay home this weekend?
Yea I’ll be fine. Got homework and stuff to get done.
ok love you!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After rotting in bed until 8:30pm I decided to get up and make myself dinner. We had some chicken breasts and lemons, so I decided to make a makeshift chicken piccata.
While the chicken was baking my music silenced itself, and my phone started ringing.
Incoming Call: Rafe Cameron
I take a second before answering, holding my breath to hear what he has to say.
”Hello?” I speak into the phone, peering down into the oven to check on the chicken.
”Hey um,” he sniffles in the background, his voice sounds broken up over the phone.
”Are you home?”
”Yes, are you okay?” I ask, concern starting to rise in my voice.
”Can I come over?” He whispers into the phone. There’s a beat of silence before I answer.
”Yes.”
”Alright I’m kind of already here, could you open the front door?”
I jump and turn around to see that the front porch light is infact, on.
“Coming” I say, running over to open the door.
He stands on the side of the doorway, clutching his side, a hoodie over his head. As I open the door farther he leans in, practically falling inside.
”Holy Shit Rafe what’s going on?” I shriek, catching him before he topples over.
”Can I lay down?” He asks, his voice is hoarse. I pull him over to the living room couch, helping him get comfortable, I pull his hoodie down, to reveal a bruise on his cheekbone and a bloody nose.
”God Rafe you need to tell me who did this to you.”
He let out a dark laugh, one i hadn’t heard in a very long time.
“You’re not going to believe me.”
”Try me” I say while standing up to walk to the first floor bathroom and get the med kit.
I return back to rafe on the couch, with the kit and a wet rag.
I begin to wipe the dried blood off his face and put some medicine on his cuts. He winces at my touch, but doesn’t refuse.
Our faces are dangerously close at this point, and i can feel his breath on my face. My pulse quickens and I realize he still didn't answer my question.
”So, whats the other guy looking like right now?” I ask, trying to lighten the tense mood. He opens his mouth to answer right when the oven timer rings.
”Shit sorry one second. Did you have dinner?”
He grumbles some sort of response I can barely hear as I walk into the kitchen, putting on a glove to take out the chicken.
I place the breasts back on the pan, glazing it with white wine and squeezing a fresh lemon into the sauce.
“That smells amazing” Rafe comments before sitting on on of the island chairs.
”Rafe go lay back down.” I instruct, as I begin to plate the dish, now splitting it into two servings.
“You patched me up, im all better.” He says, faking a smile. I roll my eyes before setting a plate infront of him.
”Eat this, and then you’ll feel better.” He looks down at the plate, then back at me.
”are you sure, I really don’t -“ I cut him off with a wave of my hand in his face.
”shush, just tell me how good it is.” He cuts into the chicken and takes a bite, while I pour us two glasses of water.
”holy shit this is gas.” He says with a Mouth full.
“I know” I say confidently, giving him a full smile before taking a seat next to him.
After a few minutes of us eating in silence, I turn to look at him.
”So why did you come here?” I ask with genuine sincerity and curiosity. He finishes swallowing and turns his head to look back at me.
“This is kind of our thing isn’t it? Coming to each other at our lowest.” He lets out a chuckle before taking a sip of water.
”I guess that’s true,” I respond, thinking back to every time we’ve been in situations like this.
”and I don’t like people to see me like… like this.”
”vulnerable?”
he looks away after my comment, I can tell his head is swimming with thoughts, he’s far away right now, I needed to figure out how to bring him back. Before I could come up with another question, he finishes his last bite and stands up, walking over to the sink to rinse it off.
“You don’t need to do that” I say, protesting.
“Shush” he mimicks me.
I finish up my own last bite and he takes the plate away from infront of me, and starts to wash it.
I walk to the living room, and clean up the med kit, placing it back in the bathroom, when I return, I find rafe putting his shoes back on.
”What’re you doing?” I question, my breath hitching in my throat at the thought of him leaving so soon.
”I. Don’t wanna be a bother. You probably got stuff to do, it’s a Friday night and all.”
”no!” I shout, louder than I had anticipated, making us both flinch. “stay. Im home alone and could use the company.”
“Y/n,” he starts. I walk over and stand infront of him, blocking him from the door.
”I said I want you to stay.” His eyes look back and forth between me and the door a few times before he gives in.
“Well what were you going to do before I showed up?” He asks, taking his shoes back off.
”I was going to watch a movie, The KIlling of a Sacred Deer, you heard of it?”
”That the one with Nicole Kidman?” He says with a smirk.
I give his shoulder a slight shove and shake my head.
”Come on, we can watch it downstairs.” He follows my lead to the basement, trailing right behind, but stopping when we pass the bar.
”Rafe…” I raise my eyebrows at him. “Don’t even think about it.”
”Chill baby I’m just checking out what your dad has in stock,” he hums at me before touching the end of my hair.
“You know, I’ve always loved your hair.” He murmurs, leaning down a few inches infront of my face.
“Thanks, I grew it myself.” I respond plainly, walking into my room. He lets out a huff and follows me in. I fumble to pick up the pile of clothing at the edge of my bed, shoving it into my closet. I run to get the trash off of my nightstand before he starts laughing.
”I didnt expect a guest okay, don’t start with me.” I shoot daggers at him and he raises his hands in defense.
“You know how Sarah’s room can get. Im not judging.” He crawls onto my bed, laying his head on one of my squishmallows. ”I think this ones my favorite” he says, pointing to the large Axolotl in the corner.
I smile and climb onto the bed with him.
”He actually doesn’t have a name yet.” I inform him, picking up the remote to turn my TV on, “you should help me name him.”
Rafe raises his eyebrows and then looks back at the plush figure. I can see his mind thinking, and I find myself watching him intently for a few moments before he turns to make eye contact with me. His demeanor had softened dramatically compared to the state he was in an hour ago. Luckily his face wasn’t swelling, and looked like his cuts would heal nicely.
“What about .. Fred?”
I let out a laugh, louder than I think we both expected, causing Rafe to let out a deep chuckle himself.
”Okay okay yeah that was bad. Hmm what about Reek?”
“Like from Game of Thrones?” A smile spreads across his face.
”Yes.” He says softly, touching my hair again.
”Well if he’s going to be a game of thrones character, maybe he should be Drogon, one of Daenerys’s dragons.”
”Hm I like that, Drogon has a ring to it.”
I turn back to the TV and press play on the movie.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
”Okay so where the fuck was the deer?’ Rafe asks as the credits roll on the screen.
”You are not being serious are you right now?”
”Y/N, that was a horrifying movie. Why’s every piece of media you show me actually insane.”
”Have you ever considered im insane?”
”Its crossed my mind for sure.” I gasp, with a roll of my eyes before turning on a random episode of Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia on.
“So.” I say, my eyes grazing over his long body on my bed, when my eyes catch up to his face, he’s already looking intently at me.
”So..” he responds. I fiddle with the hem of my shorts before taking in a sharp breath.
”Are you going to tell me who did that to you?”
His eyes flicker down my body and then back up at my eyes. He lays his head back on the headboard and closes his eyes.
“It was my dad.”
I immediately sit straight up.
”Rafe, what?” My hand reaches over to grab his. He stays still, letting me hold it.
“We got into an argument over the settlement that just went down,and he was drinking. There’s some stuff going on with Peterkin that’s got him all riled up and he took it out on me.”
“I, I’m so sorry I don’t even know what to say. You don’t deserve to be related like that at all, especially from your dad.
He finally opens his eyes and looks at me, I could tell he was trying to fight off any intense emotions, holding his body tense. I moved closer to him, draping my arm across his body, my head resting against his.
”can you not tell anyone about this? I’m going to tell the guys it was a fight with a pogue and I don’t need you and your little friends running around saying the opposite.”
I nudge my forehead against his, “I wouldn’t do that” I whisper, inching my nose towards his. I watch his eyes flicker up at mine, then down at my lips.
“I know you wouldn’t,” He brings his hand up to my cheek and pulls me closer, our lips hovering over each other.
“Always such a good girl for me.” My breath hitches in my throat, and I push my mouth against his. Our lips collide, and a guttural moan vibrates from his mouth through mine. Rafe’s hands reach down to grab my hips and he pulls me on top of him.
Our lips move against each other in a fast paced rhythm, and Rafe pulls me down hard against his crotch moving me up and down.
“God I need you so bad.” He mumbles against my lips. I moan back in response, running my fingers through his hair.
“Who said I was going to give you what you want?” I flirt back, moving my mouth down his chin, onto his neck, sucking and biting. He lets out a soft sigh, mixed with a chuckle.
“Don’t act like you cant resist me. Especially when you’re so worked up like this.”
I remove my mouth from his neck for a second to say, “‘m not worked up.”
“I’ve caught you checking me out all night baby. You’re not as slick as you think.”
I continue to suck on his neck, moving to the other side.
“Well its been a while.” I murmur against his skin.
“Say the word and I’ll give you what you want.” I peek my head up to meet his eyes, his tongue sticking out the corner of his mouth that’s smirked up.
”And when I say I want a million dollars, then what?” I quip, raising my eyebrows.
”I’d give you the world if you wanted.” He whispers back. We stare at each other for a few moments, before he tilts my chin up, connecting our lips once again.
I reach my hand down to help him take off his shirt and he stops me.
“Don’t, Don’t freak out alright.” He says quietly. I look at him quizzically before he takes his shirt off himself, revealing bruises up and down his torso.
”My god, Rafe.” I gasp, and lightly trail my finger over the marked spots. He hisses and grabs my hand.
“I said don’t freak out.” He warns me, with a stern look on his face. I feel myself throbbing against his crotch underneath me, I think he can feel it too because his face softens and he leans his head back against the headboard.
“We’ll just have to be a little gentler than usual.” I say, moving my body down to trail kisses along his sternum. I make sure to hold myself up by my arms as I go down, to avoid putting any unnecessary weight on his chest.
When I make it to his belt buckle, I finally look up.
”He didnt harm you down here did he?” I ask, hoping to lighten the mood. He smiles and shakes his head no before helping me undo the loop.
I pull his pants and boxers down, throwing them off the bed, taking his cock in one hand and bringing my other up to cup his face. His bottom lip is tight between his teeth, and I hear his breathing start to get heavier.
I lean down to spit on his dick, and start to pump before bringing my face up to meet his. We hold eye contact as I quicken the pace, making sure to squeeze over his tip before going all the way down his shaft. After a few more pumps, I bring my hand down to grab his balls and his bottom lip finally escapes his teeth and he lets out a moan. I seize this opportunity of his open mouth by pressing my mouth against his, shoving my tongue inside. I explore around his mouth, tasting him, devouring him.
”Fuck” he pants when I finally release myself to take a breath. “I need to taste you.” He took the opportunity to flip me onto my back. I whimper out in excitement while his mouth trails along the already exposed skin on my legs. While he pulls down my shorts I take off my top, exposing the fact that I didn't have a bra on this whole time.
He looks up with a smirk and reaches a hand over to palm my right breast, causing a moan to escape my lips. I feel myself grow wetter by the second as his breath trails over my panties, grazing his lips around the lines between them and my inner thighs.
”Please” I whimper out, reaching down to collect whatever pieces of hair I could into my grasp.
He pulls the fabric with one finger down between my folds, creating a pressure against my clit, and pushes his lips down on the bud.
“Fuck” I whisper out. His finger, still in between my panties, begins to slide in between my folds, collecting up the juices I had built up. He takes the finger out and pops it into his mouth, sitting up on his knees, rolling his eyes back.
“Fucking delicious.” He groans before ripping my panties completely off. I take in a sharp inhale at the sudden movements, and before i can think, he’s pushing my knees up to my chest with one hand, and using his other to inspect my pussy.
”So fucking pretty” He whispers against the inside my my knee, giving it a soft kiss while his fingers continue to slide up and down.
“Rafe” I plead squirming beneath him.
“Shh baby,” he coos. “I told you I’d give you what you want. You just have to say it.” His eyes look up to meet mine, and another whimper escapes my lips. My brain is fuzzy already, and I can barely get the words out. His hand retracts from my pussy, and he begins to pump his dick.
He moves his erection dangerously close to my core, and gives a slight tap, causing my hips to jerk up and uncontrollable whimpers to fall out.
“Please” I beg, Feeling my face get hot. A smirk is stapled to his face as he watches the scene of my throbbing pussy visibly aching to be filled.
“Use your words pretty girl, tell me what you want.” He says softly, pressing another kiss to the inside of my thighs.
”Want you to fill me up”
He doesn’t waste a second after the words come out of my mouth, pushing himself fully in. I shriek out, grabbing his shoulder to pull him down to meet my face.
He pants against my open mouth, and my eyes roll back before I squeeze them shut, seeing stars behind my hooded lids.
”Wanna see those pretty eyes baby” he says, my eyes flicker open to meet his intense gaze, his lips slightly parted. He runs his tongue over his bottom lip and smiles.
“There you are” he whispers before picking up his pace. My moans are uncontrollable at this point, holding onto his shoulders for dear life as he pounds into me.
“So fucking good” I cry out. He gives my forehead a kiss before dipping his head into the crook of my neck, swinging my right knee over his shoulder, pumping in deeper.
”You like this baby?” He says against my neck. I whimper back in response, and move my hands down to hold onto his biceps.
“Yes, you fuck me so, so, so” my head falls back and my eyes roll back against as his hips slap against my thighs.
“So, so, so” he mimics in a high pitch voice.
“Mhm fuck you.” I mumble out. His hand grabs my chin and he turns it to meet his face.
“Nah, when Im fucking you this you good, you don’t get to have a fucking attitude.” He puts pressure between my cheekbones and jaw and I open my mouth. He leans down and spits into it. I whimper and swallow, nodding my head in agreement.
“Yes, sir” I whisper. I watch his pupils grow in response, and his pace fastens. His hand releases from my face to grab my left breast, and he leans his head down to suck my nipple, lapping up and down before taking the peak between his teeth and biting down. I moan out, grabbing another fistful of his hair.
”’m gonna cum if you keep pulling shit like this” I quip. He shoots a look at me before going back down to sucking on my tit.
”Don’t you think that’s kind of the point babygirl? And I told your to watch that fucking attitude.” His hand moves up to my cheek to give it a slight tap, causing a guttural moan to come out, which makes him chuckle. His lips attach back to my nipple, and her sucks harder, causing me to shriek, and my brain to go full sub space.
When he comes back to meet my face, he can read it all over my face. He grins widely and kisses all around my face. My body tenses as I reach my high, and his free hand trails up and down my sides, his pace steady, hard and fast.
“You gonna cum for me?” He coos, brushing some hair out of my face before giving my lips a quick peck. I muster up the energy to nod my head, and he leans his hand down to rub my clit.
”Fuck” I groan out, grabbing his biceps, diggin my nails in.
“Im,” I start before the crash hits me and I go completely nonverbal, feeling myself convulse around rafe, holding onto him for dear life.
“There you go baby” he whispers, continuing to rub my clit aggressively while his thrusts get sloppy. My head feels light and I go completely limp underneath him, trusting myself in his grip to keep me safe.
He groans out and pulls his dick out before cumming all over my stomach. He holds my face while pumping his cock, getting the rest of himself out onto my body. His breaths slow before he reaches down to kiss me passionately, the cum now sticking to the both of us.
After a few minutes of us laying together, lips brushing against each other, he helps me come back to earth, caressing my head and playing with the ends of my hair.
“You’re so beautiful” he whispers before getting up a d walking to the bathroom. I feel a cold chill run up my body when his heat leaves the bed. He returns with a towel, wiping me off before he wipes himself off.
“Want some help getting to the bathroom?” He says, looking down at my helpless figure. I nod my head, and he picks me up, carrying me to the bathroom.
”You got it from here?” He asks, and I sheepishly nod, he leaves the bathroom closing the door behind him.
When I return to the bedroom, he’s sitting on the edge of the bed, his clothes against his lap.
”I can go now, if you wanna get some rest.” He says in a light voice, looking out the back door. I sit down next to him, wrapping my arm around his waist and resting my head against his shoulder.
”I told you I wanted you to stay earlier, and I meant it.”
Featuring: Michael Myers
Word Count: 2k
Warnings: oral sex, fingering, rough sex, overstimulation, general nsfw things, mdni, i got carried away, unedited because I didn't think i'd write this much
As for your question(s):
I think it definitely depends on how long you've known him. The only way he'd give a flying fuck about what you think is if he was down bad. Especially if we're talking about the OG Michael. RZ Michael is easier to convince to actually give a shit what you want in bed, but it's still not a priority for him. Still, there are certain personality traits you can exploit to get what you want. . .
-
When you first brought up that you were unsatisfied in bed, it was a very soft comment after he was done and zipping his jumpsuit back up.
"I didn't even cum. . ." you mumbled, staring at your bare abdomen and leaking cunt. It was all him. You didn't even have the chance to pleasure yourself; it was too difficult with him constantly flipping you over and manhandling you. Your body was sore and bruised, but you laid there, discontent.
You moved your gaze to look at his masked face. Judging by the way he stopped his movements, he'd heard you. You bit your lip, turning your eyes away and down to your hands which fiddled with each other. You knew he didn't care, but it would be nice if he did.
"Just get out, okay?" you spoke, embarrassed and a little angry. "I'll just get myself off since you can't seem to do it."
Your tone had him walking around to the side of the bed, grabbing his discarded knife from the nightstand. You flinched, but didn't bother to run. If he wanted to kill you, he would have already.
Just as you figured, he turned back around, trudging out of your bedroom with the blade in his grip. You rolled your eyes. You were half tempted to call up and old friend of yours for a night, but realized that might end in bloodshed. Michael was much too possessive for that.
Suddenly, an idea crossed your mind. You knew Michael was selfish, but he also always had something to prove. He wanted to, no, needed to be the best at everything. Nobody could escape, outrun, or hide from him, and he knew that. So what if. . .
It was a few days later when he came back, heavy footsteps on your porch alerting you. Still, you pretended not to notice, phone up to your ear as you chatted. You were leaned against the kitchen counter, occasionally popping some popcorn into your mouth.
The door to your house creaked open before shutting again. You paid no mind.
"Go out? Ha," you spoke, fingers moving around a stray popcorn kernel absentmindedly. "If I want to get drunk, I'll do it in my own home, thank you very much."
At this point, he was looming in the kitchen doorway, but you didn't even bother with a glance.
"Oh, go out to meet someone, huh? Yeah, I guess that would be nice. . . I mean sure, there's a guy that stops by, but I'd be lying if I said I was satisfied." You leaned against your fridge, his massive form still lingering just a few feet away.
"It's just. . . other people I've been with have gotten me off four, five times a night, but this guy? Not once. Yeah. You heard me. Not once."
You made sure to emphasize that last phrase. You knew the dangerous game you were playing, but you didn't care. "Talk to him? Girl, I've tried. He's like a brick wall. Doesn't even say goodbye. As soon as he's done he's out the door. Rude? Tell me about it. Sure, I've had better, but he always keeps crawling back looking like a kicked puppy. I just kind of feel sorry for him."
You didn't have time to speak again before the phone was ripped from your grasp and tossed carelessly across the kitchen, plastic pieces shattering across the tile.
One hand wrapped around your throat while the other rested just beside your head, almost denting your poor fridge with the force. The choke was painful but not deadly, and you locked eyes with the culprit, staring intently.
He pulled you against him before slamming you back against the fridge, and you winced at the sudden force. "What's wrong with you?" you sputtered out, your hands trying to fight the grip on your throat.
He glanced at the destroyed phone, and you had to stifle a smirk from appearing on your lips.
With another slam, he finally released his hand from your neck, and you took in a few shaky breaths. Still, he loomed close enough to leave you pressed against him.
"You're angry," you spoke, rubbing the marks forming on your neck. "I assumed Michael Myers never got angry."
He looked to the shattered telephone again before looking back at you. He wanted an explanation.
"What do you want me to say? It's true. And I'm pissed about it. All you ever do is use me then leave. I haven't had a proper orgasm in weeks!" You pushed your hands against his chest angrily, but he didn't budge. "I know you're not a good man, but it still isn't fair. I can't even call anyone because you'll have a knife through their neck before they can get their pants off."
He let out a breath, both hands finding purchase on your hips. "Now's not the time," you huffed, moving to push his hands away. His grip tightened. You headbutted his chest, forehead resting against the rough material of his jumpsuit. How could he be raring to go at a time like this? "Unless you've got anything planned for me tonight, I'm not interested."
He didn't falter. You looked back up to try and read his face through his mask. It did not work. You could tell he was. . . different than usual, but he was probably still pissed off from your words over the phone.
His fingers nestled behind the waistband of your shorts, and in one fell swoop they dropped to the floor. You stayed silent. He never had the decency to take your clothes off. It was always ripped or sliced, and there was never any time taken. Hell, he'd never taken your shorts off without your underwear going with.
You stifled a laugh. Was he actually. . . trying?
He slid a knee between your thighs, pinning you. One hand explored your upper half, sliding under your shirt until he hit your bra. His other hand travelled downwards, slipping underneath your panties. You felt a rough digit slide against your clit and let out a sudden breath. Quickly, he backtracked, moving back up until he found that same spot.
You had to bite your lip to prevent a gasp from leaving it. You couldn't remember the last time you'd been stimulated there. It was suddenly all too-sensitive.
Two fingers caught the small nub, and you had to grip his shoulders to prevent yourself from falling. The digits toyed with it, squeezing and brushing like he was testing something. Your forehead pressed against his chest as heavy breaths left you.
One hand worked at massaging your chest, running a thumb against your nipple, while the other played with your clit harshly. You didn't expect him to be gentle in the slightest, but it still had you shimmying your hips in discomfort. It's not that you weren't aroused, and in fact, you were all too turned on. He'd never shown any interest in any part of you besides your cunt and mouth, and even then it was only to slide his dick into. This? This was all new. This feeling of rough hands overtaking your body, touching your skin, pleasuring you for the first time. . .
You pushed your hips forwards, trying to gain friction. With any luck, you could actually get off tonight.
Suddenly, all hands were off of you and he stepped back, tilting his head.
You rushed to hold yourself up, knees wobbly. You shot daggers at him, eyes burning. He stopped. Why the fuck did he stop?
He stared at you, waiting for something. You crossed your arms over your chest, looking as put-together as you could with wetness creeping down your thighs and shorts discarded on the floor.
"I'm not apologizing, if that's what you want," you muttered. "Congratulations, you found the clit. Took you long enough. You'll have to work a little harder if you're looking to clear your name."
In a flash, he had you hauled over his shoulder, and you let out a gasp of surprise. You could only sigh as he took you to your destination.
You were dropped onto your bed, legs dangling off the front as he pushed you down into the mattress. You cocked a brow.
In an event you'd never thought would happen, he kneeled down in front of you, hands spreading your thighs apart. Was this a dream? You were in shock. There's no way he was going to. . .
You were pulled out of your thoughts when your panties were slid down your legs and tossed aside. It didn't take long before one hand was back between your legs, rubbing your clit as the other pressed against your stomach to keep you in place. You couldn't move your thighs which were locked apart, blocked by his shoulders.
You couldn't sit up with the way he had you pinned, and so stared at the ceiling, hands gripping the sheets.
A new sensation startled you, and you tried desperately to sit up enough to see, but it was no use.
It was his tongue, dragging up your folds until he reached your clit. He took the nub in his mouth, and you had to slap a hand over your mouth to prevent the noise that threatened to come out.
That old and familiar feeling built within you, like a spring coiling and coiling, ready to snap. Your mind went blank as a tension built within you. It was like everything but your cunt was numb. There, feeling was in overdrive. Every swipe of his tongue, every prod of his fingers inside of you, swiping forward to push against your favorite spot: it was too much.
You came with a breathless gasp, back arched as your hands dug into the sheets. Even without seeing, you knew your cunt was a mess. You could feel your cum seeping out. You could smell the scent of sex in the room. Your thighs shook, pussy clenching around nothing.
You expected him to pull back, but instead you felt his tongue licking at your cunt, swiping up any spill into his mouth. You let out a whine as he prodded inside, tongue lapping up your wetness.
Digits were back to circling your clit, and you moaned, still much too sensitive. Despite this, he had no intentions of stopping, instead switching out his fingers for his mouth as he thrust a finger inside of you. You had no time to process before another joined the first. Your head pressed desperately against your bedsheets.
"Slow down," you gasped, voice shaking. He didn't heed your words, and in fact, sped up the way his fingers pushed in and out of you. You whined. The tension was already back and ready to snap within you.
"Michael," you cried, eyes clenched shut. "Please!" You weren't sure what you were pleading for.
You came again, more violently than the last. Over and over your cunt pulsed, leaking your cum to pool at your enterance, only to be pushed back in with the shove of his fingers.
"Okay! Okay! You win!" you panted, wiping the sweat from your face.
When he still showed no signs of letting up, all you could do was let out a weak groan. You got what you desired, you supposed. But it seemed he found something he liked as well.
All this because you decided to talk a little shit about him. You didn't dare tell him there was nobody on the other line.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Your POV:
I stood wiping down the bar counter in the Hard Deck, it was a hot day which wasn’t out of the ordinary in any shape or form for the San Diego base. It had been 2 years since the Dagger Squad was all together and 18 months since I left naval aviation behind me. I picked up shifts working at the bar so I could still see some friends that hung around after the mission and I lived nearby in an apartment I shared with Phoenix. She had been my rock these past 18 months and got me through some of the hardest weeks of my life. Sometimes I sat on the balcony and watched as the planes flew around throughout the day and felt a pang in my chest of wanting to return but then I remember who I was hiding from and the crash out leaving had caused me and I out my jacket on and head over to the bar.
Who caused my exit from my dream career I hear you ask?
Bob Floyd, call sign: Bob.
The love and loss of my life. After the dagger mission we were happier than ever and then the call came for him to relocate and take on a new mission, I wanted to stay and build our lives together. Give ourselves a home base where we could grow a family. He told me I was holding him back and myself back if we didn’t take this opportunity, but it wasn’t our opportunity, not really. Maybe my ego got in the way and I was upset he didn’t do what I wanted but it caused him to leave in the middle of the night with not so much as a kiss goodbye. All I got was a letter taped to the fridge for me to find the next morning when I woke up.
I was pulled from my thoughts when I heard the door open to the bar.
“Bar’s not open for another few hours,” I call over my shoulder, hoping whoever it is walks away and then I hear the voice.
“I wasn’t here for a drink anyway, just a catch-up chat” Maverick says as he walks up to the bar tapping it with an open palm when he reaches it.
“What are you doing here Mav?” I turned around again and carried on wiping the bar counter.
“What? Can’t an old man come check on one of his favourite pilots he’s ever trained?”
“Okay, if you’re sweet talkin me then I know you’re up to something. Go on spit it out.”
“Come back Ghost, we need you.”
“I’m out Mav, have been for 18 months, I don’t even think I remember how to fly a plane.” I leaned against the bar facing him now with my hip propped out. I fiddled with the washcloth as my mind raced thinking about all the things I wanted to ask him.
“Now that I know is a lie. Look kid, whatever you’re running from is going to catch up with you eventually, just think about it.” He stood off the bar stool and placed his sunglasses just on the bridge of his nose “Did I mention Bob is coming back for this one?” He said as he turned on to his heels and headed for the door.
“That’s not the selling point you think it is!” I called out after him and watched as the doors swung shut.
I must’ve stood there for another 20 minutes just stuck in my thoughts because before I knew it Phoenix was stood in front of me snapping me out of it.
“Hey there, welcome back to reality,” She quipped at me.
“Bob’s back,” I muttered as I spun around to grab a beer for her.
“What do you mean?”
“I mean he’s back, and Maverick is too. He came in here, wants me to join the team again.” I open the glass bottle and place it in front of her.
“And? What did you say?”
“I said no Phoenix, that life is behind me. I’m out, no more deadly missions for me.”
“You’re thinking about it thought right,”
“Of course I am,” I laughed out as I grabbed a beer for myself as well.
“It might be nice to see him again, you know, get some closure.” Phoenix suggested.
“Oh no, absolutely not, the time for closure was a long time ago. I want to make him regret it.” I said as I walked out the bar into the bright heat of summer.
“Oh boy, here we go,” Phoenix jumped up following me.
A Few Weeks Later
Getting back in was the easy part, it was getting used to the planes again and feeling like I was part of the team that I was struggling with. Hangman was back along with Fanboy and Rooster, Coyote walked into the locker rooms next and then Payback walked in engaged in a thrilling conversation with Bob. Bob looked up at the room and his eyes caught yours for a millisecond before he looked back down at the floor. Hangman walked up to you and bent down to speak in your ear. “You know for what it's worth he didn’t shut up about you while we were out there,”
“Yea, well that’s on him.” I bit back at him, arms crossed over my chest as I sat down on a bench against a wall of lockers,
“Feisty as ever Ghost. See you out there.”
Everyone was filing out of the locker room as I unpacked my bag into the locker. Spare clothes, towels, everything I’d need on base to throw myself back into this job.
“You never did pack light,” His voice was light-hearted and soft as it always had been,
“Yeah, I guess some things don’t change.”
“You certainly haven’t, you look good.”
“Don’t. Just don’t. I’m back to get my career going again and that’s it, I didn’t come back for you Bob.” I said through a tight jaw as my hands balled into nervous fists.
“I know, I have no right to ask this, but can we at least have a drink and talk, I feel like I owe you a conversation at least.”
“A conversation? Bob, you owed me that a long time ago but hey I moved on, and I ran away from my problems sure. I’m back now and no I don’t want to sit and chat to you about how you took my heart and shattered it so hard that I’m still trying to pick up pieces!” Tears had started to fall down my cheeks now, but I didn’t care, I hope it hurt him seeing me like this and knowing that he was what had caused it.
I pushed passed him ignoring his call for me to stop and made my way into the briefing room, I sat next to Phoenix. She noticed my tears straight away and shot Bob a glare as he entered the room and slumped into the only seat left next to Rooster. Maverick walked across the open space in front of the room “Welcome back everyone, let’s do this.” He said as he started the mission briefing. It wasn’t a simple mission by any means and required us to be training for at least 6 weeks before go time but to be honest the thoughts of Bob racing through my head made it hard to concentrate.
The Dagger squad was sat around the pool tables at Hard deck for some reunion drinks. I couldn’t bring myself to miss it because the truth was, I had missed all of them. I’d missed our nightly meetings playing pool and darts and dancing around the bar while Rooster played the piano. That being said I did need a little liquid courage to get through the night and maybe just maybe I had a shot too many. The shirt I was wearing bounced around as Hangman and I danced around to whatever 80s song was playing throughout the bar. I felt Bob’s eyes looking at me and without even seeing it I could practically feel him trying to take Hangman down with his eyes. When I stumbled and fell into my dance partners arms to keep myself from landing on the floor, that’s when I felt another set of hands on my waist, a set of hands that felt all too familiar. Bob and Jake put me down on a stool close by as I giggled into my drink. “Jesus, how much have you drunk tonight?” Bob started before Jake cut him off.
“I don’t think you’re the person she needs a lecture from right now man.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“I’m just saying that she’s a big girl and she can choose to do whatever she wants,”
“Exactly! Thank you, Hangman. See Bob, he gets it.” I hiccupped and had to concentrate on not falling over off the stool.
“Come on, I’ll take you home on my way.” Bob said turning away from me to pick up our jackets,
“I don’t want to go though”.
“You can’t stay in this state, you can barely stand up. Come on,” He tried to pick me up by guiding my arm up, but I pulled away. That’s when Jake stepped in and the whole night went to shit. “She said she wants to stay Bob.”
“Listen here, I’m not leaving her here when she’s this drunk. I need to know she’s safe.”
“We’ll watch out for her.” Phoenix tried to de-escalate the situation, but Bob and Jake were getting closer and closer, and it looked as if Bob was about to punch him.
“She’s not yours anymore, you made that choice man, you need to accept it now.” Jake said picking up a pool cue and walking towards the table.
“On that note maybe, I will go home.” I stood up suddenly feeling very aware that the almost fight was about me and while I was flattered that Jake stood up for me, it was probably best to get home before I get kicked out.
I hugged Phoenix and gave the others a wave before letting Bob guide me through the busy bar. My arm was intertwined with his so I could keep my balance and when we got to his truck, and he helped me into the passenger seat. The drive back to my apartment was quiet, neither of us daring to speak after the tension at the bar.
Bob was the first one to speak “Do you like him?”
The question genuinely shocked me and confused me in equal measures.
“Do I like who?”
“Jake, I saw how you laughed and danced with him tonight,”
“So what if I did Bob, you left me remember.” It might have been the alcohol that spoke instead of my logical brain but oh well, it was said now.
“I know and I regret it every day,”
“Why?”
“You were the best thing that ever happened to me, and I let you go over some silly mission.”
“That’s not what hurt me Bob, what hurt me was you leaving without saying anything. A note was all I got after we had planned a future and a life together. I would’ve supported you eventually I just needed time to figure things out- “
“- They wanted an answer then and there and I gave it. I didn’t want to argue, and I kept thinking that if I didn’t make it back from that mission then the last time, I saw you had to be peaceful. I couldn’t have the last view of you be of you crying or screaming at me, so I left.” I sat in silence as a few tears fell down both our cheeks for the rest of the drive.
The truck stopped in front of my building and Bob walked round to help me out. I took his hand and let him guide me to my floor. We both stepped out of the elevator, and I gave him a small wave before opening my door directly across from it. I was definitely drunk and emotional because I did the one thing I promised myself I wouldn’t do. I left the door open as I walked through to the living room. I heard the door close behind me and when I turned around there was Bob stood on the inside of my now closed apartment door. He took his jacket off and folded it neatly over the back of the sofa, I walked over to him slowly, stopping just as our faces were inches apart.
“This is a bad idea.” I whispered looking up into his icy blue eyes.
“What makes it a bad idea?”
“Exes shouldn’t do this. It complicates things.”
“Please, we’re already complicated. What’s one more complication.”
And with that I pressed my lips to his, slow at first while my hands found their way up his neck into his hair. His hands wrapped their way in my hair and pulled me deeper into the kiss, “We should stop,” I mutter in between kisses with him. He nods his head as he kisses back, and it doesn’t stop us as we walk towards my bedroom in the dimly lit apartment.
Bob’s POV
I woke before her, her head resting on my chest, and she only quietly muttered when I moved her so I could get out of the bed. I pulled a pair of shorts I had left here on, surprised she’d kept anything of mine after what I did. I quietly shuffled out the room and towards the kitchen when I heard movement. Nat stood at the counter pouring a cup of coffee, I froze in my tracks when she made eye contact with me.
“Don’t break her heart again, she really does love you.” She almost whispered to me and handed me the warm cup of coffee to take to the bedroom.
“I won’t, I’ve got a lot to make up for.” I walked back towards the room and was surprised to find her awake and pulling an oversized t shirt over her frame.
She shot me a defiant look over her shoulder and then smiled as she crossed her arms and popped her hip out to the side.
“Just because you gave me a great night last night and brought me coffee this morning does not mean you’re off the hook.”
I smiled back at her and wrapped her in a strong hug placing a kiss to her forehead.
“I’ll fix us, I promise.”
GG, NO REᶻ 𝘇 𐰁
(good game, no rematch)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Synopsis: Sershiro Nagi, one of japan's top streamers; who dominates the gaming world with his effortless skills. When an underground content creator challenges him to a 1v1 after he dismisses casual players, their fans go wild. The match ends with an unexpected twist, and what starts as an online rivalry turns into a chaotic, relationship.
pairing: Seishiro nagi x F!reader | Smau & writing
content warning: I try to be funny (more cringe than funny), dry humour, crack, angst (if you squint), ooc character, nagi is sassy?, spicy but not smut (eventually), streamers - most of them, swearing, rude jokes
Tumblr media
ʚɞ good game
Nagi clicked a button on his keyboard, starting up his stream. The first 20 minutes were just him talking and answering questions until someone finally asked the big question.
—Reply to Y/N Gamez’s video—
Not even a second later, all the messages in the chat were about it.
—Yeah! What were the tweets about?—
—You can’t just take that disrespect!—
—1v1 her!—
Nagi sighed, running a hand through his hair. He had already watched the clip and responded on Twitter—just not on stream.
"Alright, so what's happening is, two hours from now, the other streamer, Y/N, I think her name is—she’s going to come on, and we’ll 1v1 each other in COD. It'll be a private game."
Messages flooded the chat once again.
"Don’t worry, guys, I’m not stressed. We all know who’s gonna win."
Tumblr media
You joined Nagi’s stream after he sent you an invite.
Nagi was talking about the game rules and chatting with his viewers.
You, on the other hand—your hands were trembling. Not because you were nervous, but because, for one, over a million people would be watching, and if you messed up, it’d be the same as a public execution.
—C’mon, lock TF in.—
You laughed when you saw Shidou’s message.
. ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁˖ . ݁
The game was intense. It was best out of three. You won the first round, giving you a confidence boost, but that came crashing down when Nagi won the second like it was nothing, saying the first one was just a warm-up.
God, his cockiness pissed you off.
The third game was tense and probably the longest. Both of you had gone completely silent—only the clicks of your controllers and keyboards could be heard.
The game ended with you victorious.
You let out the deepest breath, realizing you hadn’t been breathing properly for the past 20 minutes.
“GG.”
Nagi was silent for a moment before letting out a quiet, "gg."
"Rematch?" he asked.
"Nah, not now."
You fell back in your chair, wiping your palms on the sides of your biker shorts. It felt like you had just run a marathon. The win was sweet, but bringing someone down a notch or two was even sweeter.
You pushed your hair back as Nagi cleared his throat, announcing to his chat that you had won. What was really annoying was that he didn’t sound mad. Not one bit.
You thanked him for having you, said your goodbyes, and logged off your PC. Pulling out your phone to see messages from ryu
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media
You tossed your phone onto the wireless charger and plopped onto your bed. Darkness covered your vision, and you were out cold.
. ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁˖ . ݁
Groaning, you woke up to the sound of your phone buzzing. Grabbing it off the nightstand, you saw over 100+ notifications—some from Sae, some from shidou and.. twitter??
How about the reader and Joost are childhood friends that get split up, but reunite because Joost wants them to be apart of his eurovison team. They realize they miss eachother a lot and confess and happily ever after (⊃。•́‿•̀。)⊃
It’s So Sweet
Tumblr media
Paring: Joost x GN!Reader (no pronouns used!)
CW: none!
A/N: ahhhhhh this one is so cuuuuuute! i love the childhood friends to lovers trope so much! thank you for the request and i hope you enjoy it <333
masterlist!
· · ────── ·𖥸· ────── · ·
Joost and you were never seen apart as kids. Always walking in the school hallways together, sitting and partnering up in the classes you had together. Constantly hanging out after school and on the weekends. You two were basically connected at the hip.
Until your family gave you the news you would be moving to Sweden. Something to do with a better job opportunity. You begged for them not to, to move somewhere where you currently were at least. Though you knew your pleas wouldn’t do much.
Before you left, Joost and you exchanged emails. To keep in touch while you two would be apart.
You did for awhile. But as you both got older, your emails to each other took longer. It would be weeks, months, before you replied to each other.
Until they just stopped completely. You two had gotten too caught up into your adulthood. You hadn’t returned to your hometown since you moved away.
Joost fell into a successful career as a musician. You getting yours as a dancer.
It’s been years since you and him talked.
Your heart nearly stopped once you saw the notification when you were on the bus after a rehearsal.
joostklein has requested to follow you.
His profile picture was a picture of him as a toddler. The one you’ve seen so many times before, hanging on the wall in his living room when you went over to hangout after school.
You looked through his account, he almost looked the exact same as he did when he was a preteen. Only his body was scattered in tattoos, he had grown a mustache, much taller, and his hair was dyed into a nearly white color and cut into a mullet.
His most recent posts were a reel revealing how he’d be representing the Netherlands in the next Eurovision competition, and another video revealing the date his song for the event would be released.
Minutes after you accepted the request and followed him back, he messaged you.
It was a simple question, asking if you were the same one he knew as a kid. You responded, telling him you were.
The texts following after that were a little bit awkward. Soon the tension between you both was gone, you told each about what you’ve been doing for the past years, how they’d gone, what you’ve been doing now.
After exchanging phone numbers, the texts turned into calls, then video chats.
You listened to his songs, almost going through every single one of his albums in one night.
You were surprised by a lot of the lyrics, by how the innocent boy with a side swept haircut you once knew, was now singing about having sex with women to a mario kart remixed beat and saying “suck my dick bitch” multiple times in another song.
You honestly found them catchy, however you realized they were better to listen to with earbuds in or alone, rather than in any public place.
However, the lyrics in other songs were more heart breaking. God, soul shattering even.
“Maybe it was wrong. But I miss us, I miss home.”
“My dad who was laying there, seen but no authority. We'll see by the days, we don't say goodbye. My mom who was laying there, I often think about that day.”
“Hey, I have a disease, it's a very specific one. I always panic and they have no therapies.”
“But still it hurts. Am running from myself. Cry the entire day for "help"
Joost would show you his tattoos, the ones he already had and the ones he wanted to get in the future, drawings he made, but he refused to show you the idea concepts for his Eurovision costume.
He told you he wanted it to be a surprise.
The day before he revealed his outfit to the rest of the world. He called you during a work break, telling you he had to show you something.
You opened the video call to see him standing there in a big bright blue suit with extremely pointy shoulders.
You felt bad when you let out a laugh, slapping your hand over your mouth to muffle it.
“You like it?” He asked, posing goofily.
“Yeah. It’s very…silly. Very big.” His grin only grew larger at your words.
“Perfect. That’s exactly what I was aiming for.” He smiled and sat down.
“So, your other friends, one of them is gonna dress up as a bird? And the other is gonna wear a clip on ponytail?”
“Yep!” He pipped. You just laughed and shook your head. He cleared his throat, his face on the screen looking nervous all of the sudden.
“So, you told me you still dance.”
“Yeah! I do group shows and stuff.” You nodded, placing your head on your fist.
“That’s great, very great. Um, do you still hakken?” You were a bit taken aback, confused by why he was asking about that specific dance.
“Uh yeah. But usually jokingly, like when I’m with friends.” You bit at your thumbnail. “Did you ever learn?”
“Yeah! I’ve gotten pretty good at it.” He chuckled, going silent for a minute after. “I’m wondering if you would perform with me, like on the stage. I need another back up dancer. And you’ve always been so talented at it.” His words made you blush, but you were still a bit unsure on what he was asking you.
“So, um, you want me to do the hakken dance with you? At your performance?” You felt nervous, when you did the dance you usually did it after a night of drinking to make your friends laugh.
“Only if you want to! I mean, we could meet up, I’m in Sweden now.”
“What?” You shouted, cringing at how loud it was.
“Yeah, i’ve been here to do interviews and all that stuff.” He scratched at his arms, a bit embarrassed he didn’t tell you earlier about this.
“You really don’t have to do this if you don’t want to.” He spoke, “Its free of charge for you, you’ll get paid for it. If that persuades you.” He added on, joking.
“I’ll do it for free.” Maybe your answer was a bit too quick, maybe it was impulsive. But you really wanted to see Joost again, you’d jump at any chance you could see him.
The both of you agreed to meet up a few days later at a park not far from where you lived.
The park was quite empty, most likely due to the fact the sun was already going down, an orange gradient filling the sky.
You nervously walked up to him, he was sitting on a bench. He looked so familiar yet so different. It gave you a strange sense of nostalgia.
“Hi.”
“Hi.” He immediately grinned as he saw you. You sat down next to him.
The sunset cast a golden glow on his face, making his blue eyes so much more prominent, his face was so gorgeous.
“So you’ll really dance with me?”
“Yeah, why not.” You shrugged, completely unbothered by his question.
“You’ll be on a giant stage in front of thousands of people. You’ll be on TV with the entirety of Europe watching.” Joost felt nervous, he didn’t want to pressure you into doing this, he really wanted you to be there with himz But he wasn’t gonna force you into something you had no interest for.
“I’ve never been one for stage fright.” You smiled, the sweetness in your expression made his worries begin to drift away.
“Perfect.” He looked down at his feet, smiling so hard his cheeks begin to hurt, “I’ll text you the schedules and everything you need to know.”
“Cool.” You looked down at your shoes as well. Enjoying the comfortable silence and soft breeze of the air.
“I really missed you.” He spoke out, added your name to the sentence, making it more impacting. You looked at him, jaw ajar in admiration.
“I missed you too.” You said softly, placing your hand over his. Soon wrapping it around his. You both sat there for a few minutes like that.
“I’ve been thinking of moving back.” You broke the silence. “To the Netherlands, that is.”
“Really?” Joost looked at you, a mixture of amazement and shock in his face.
“Yeah. A company reached out to me, giving me a job opportunity. Really good pay, positive reviews, a safe workplace.” It felt funny, you were thinking about coming back to your hometown for the same reason your family made you leave.
“That’s great! You should take it!”
“I probably will. It seems promising.” You squeezed his hand. “And it’d be nice to be close to you again.” You added on, pursing your lips to try and hold back a smile, it failed.
“Yeah, yeah, that would be nice.” He murmured,“Um, I should get going, early TV interviews tomorrow.”
You nodded, getting up before he did.
“Just text me what channel you’ll be on, i’ll make sure to watch for you.” You said, a little bit too excitedly.
“Yeah, yeah, I will! I’ll see you later.” He chuckled.
“I’ll be in the Netherlands in a month most likely, just so you know. See you, Joost.” You turned, only getting a few steps in before his voice stopped you, causing you look back at him.
“There’s this really great ice cream parlor that opened up there, maybe we could, uh, go there when you’re back, if you’d like?” He cleared his throat.
“I’ll be going back in a month too, just for a little bit before I have to come here again.” He fiddled with his fingers.
“Awesome then, it’s a date.”
A GATHERING OF CLOUDS — BLADE
Tumblr media Tumblr media
content: fem! reader, angst, bittersweet/open ending, generally follows the clouds leave no trace mission but i’ve taken some liberties, spoilers for post-xianzhou arc, reader is one of the ten stonehearts and goes by ‘tourmaline’ notes: this story mission broke my heart
Tumblr media
You sigh as you read through the massive file your department head dumped on you. From what you’ve skimmed through, it seems that there’s a problem you’ll have to arbitrate on the planet of Venovia regarding the building of their Quantum Collider. The problem is simple, really, just a matter of the neighboring planet refusing to grant clearance for the collider — did this report really have to go on for over seventy pages?
You’re about to flip to the next page when there’s a knock at your door. “Come in,” you call, eyes darting across the text in front of you.
“Well, you look like you’ve got your work cut out for you,” Topaz says as she walks in, sitting down in the chair in front of you.
You snort, looking up at her. “No rest for the wicked, I suppose. Yan Shilou gave me this yesterday and said a resolution had to be proposed by the end of the week.”
“Three days away, then. Better get on it!”
“I would be working on it now if someone wasn’t distracting me in my office,” you say but your voice lacks any irritation.
Topaz laughs a little, “What? You don’t want me to say bye before I head to Jarilo-VI?”
“Aeons, that’s right! I forgot!” You open up the bottom drawer of your desk and root around, finally feeling your fingers brush against what you’re looking for. You pull it out and hand her the box, wrapped in a cream-colored paper and secured with an orange ribbon.
She opens the gift, finding a pair of dark gloves identical to the ones she usually wears, but you explain, “There’s lined inside. Belobog’s eternal freeze is nothing to joke about.”
“Wow!” She slides them onto her hands and says, “Thank you! They’re so soft inside!”
“It was my pleasure!” You smile at her and you two chat for a little before she gets up to leave. There’s a knock at your door before she can and you beckon the person to enter.
Your assistant shuffles in, apologetically glancing between your mountain of paper and Topaz. “I’m sorry, ma’am, I can come back—”
“Don’t worry, I was just about to leave,” Topaz says and she wiggles her fingers at you as a goodbye, disappearing around the corner.
“Mail’s come in.” He hands you a small stack of letters, keeping one in his hand. You motion at it in question and he says, “This one’s odd. There’s no return address or any indication where it came from.”
He leans over to give it to you and you slice it open with a dagger-shaped letter opener. Your assistant eyes it and says, “I always forget to tell you how cool that thing is. It’s so well-made!”
Your finger runs over the grooves of the handle. Even though the metal is cool, you swear you can still feel the warmth of the forge and of the hands who crafted it. You turn it over in your hand and finally manage to reply, “Thank you.”
You know it sounds flat and strained so you instead busy yourself with the letter. There’s no visible ink when you slide it out of the envelope but as you unfold it, the words materialize into a message written in swift, decisive strokes.
It has been a very long while, hasn’t it? I hear you’re going by Tourmaline now. It suits you, as does your high-ranking position in the Talent Motivation Department of the IPC — you always were a mediator. I know you have run off to the farthest corner of the universe to leave behind what has transpired. But in accordance with our old vow, I invite you once again roam our lands of past, drink in celebration and recount our great adventures.
You think your heart has stopped and your eyes examine the words over and over again. You forgot that your assistant is still in the room. He clears his throat hesitantly and asks, “Are you alright, ma’am?”
You suck in a deep breath and plaster a mask of smile on your face as you answer, “Yes, I am fine. You’re dismissed. And thank you for bringing in the mail.”
He casts you another worried look but says no more, nodding and exiting, closing the door behind him with a quiet click. You don’t realize how much you’re trembling until you pick up the note to read it one last time, the thin sheet shaking too.
You scoff as your eyes fall on the final sentence and you scoff. As if vows meant anything to them.
Your stomach churns and there’s a sting behind your eyes that you haven’t felt in years, yet you’re reaching for your phone and reserving a starskiff to the Xianzhou Luofu before you know it.
Tumblr media
“I believe that’s checkmate,” you said, grinning triumphantly as Jing Yuan froze, eyes darting across the board, trying to find a way out.
“There’s always a way out,” he huffed, hand hovering over one piece, then another, then another.
You replied, “That’s not how chess works.”
He glowered at you and Jingliu sighed, standing behind Jing Yuan to gaze at the board. “You should have moved your knight here,” she said, pointing at a square. “Then you would have beaten her in three more moves and avoided the capture of the queen.”
Jing Yuan didn’t answer, still surveying the board. Dan Feng rolled his eyes at your friend’s fruitless determination. You laid back, delighting in the light mist of water that sprays from the surrounding waterfalls. You loved Scalegorge Waterscape — it was rare to find somewhere with so much nature in the Alliance. “Wait,” Jing Yuan said and you sighed dramatically. He continued, “What if—”
A low gravelly voice sounded behind you. “Give it up, Jing Yuan, she has bested you again.”
You tilted your head to the source of the voice and smiled again, big and wide, heat sparking through your body when he offered you that signature smirk. Baiheng dashed ahead of him, waving the large bag of food they had picked up. He sat down beside you, long lithe fingers reaching over to brush a stray piece of hair from your face.
“Miss?” You jolt awake with a tight feeling in your chest. Your starskiff driver is turned around in his seat and staring at you. “We’ve arrived.”
“Oh!” You scramble to give him his credits and you climb out, stepping onto the Xianzhou Luofu for the first time in seven centuries.
Central Starskiff Haven is as busy as you remember, bustling with passengers embarking and disembarking from various spacecrafts. Merchants hawk their wares loudly, tourists slowing down to peruse as residents quickly rush past.
You weave in between the crowds, the familiar smells of berrypheasant skewers and songlotus cake making your mouth water. Despite your anxiety, your heart swells as the sights and sounds and smells around you. You begin to make your way towards the next starskiff terminal when you hear footsteps approaching rapidly from behind. You tense, steeling yourself when you feel a hand on your shoulder. A voice breathes out your name in disbelief and your own eyes widen at the familiar sound. You turn around. “Yukong.”
She stares at you, repeating your name once more. A tentative smile appears and she says, “It’s been a while.”
“It has. How have you been?”
“Well, all things considered.” She hesitates and says, “A lot has happened since you left.”
Your stomach churns with guilt and you force out an answer: “You know I had to get away. After everything that happened—”
“Yes, I know.” She cuts you off and you can hear the betrayal leaking into her otherwise stoic tone. She squares her shoulder and asks, “What are you doing back?”
“I…” You debate telling her the whole truth but, perhaps against your better judgment, you don’t. Instead, you say, “I need to meet with Jing Yuan.” It’s not a lie, technically, but Yukong knows you better and from the way her lips purse, you can tell she doesn’t believe you entirely.
“The general is not at the Seat of Divine Foresight at the moment. He’s dealing with matters concerning a prisoner right now.”
“I see.”
Another silence. When Yukong breaks it, you expect her to inquire further but she says, “You don’t have your bow on you.”
It makes you smile slightly. “I do, just not so conspicuously now.” You gesture to an intricate band around your wrist.
“I’m surprised. You never would have parted with it before.”
“Things change.” Your eyes flicker over her and you ask, “Do you remember when I gifted you your first bow?”
It makes her smile a little too. “Yes. It was far too big for me. Baiheng laughed and laughed that day. I still have it.”
“Really?”
“It’s at home, hanging on my wall.”
“I figured you would have disposed of it, given everything…”
She sighs, “I thought about it but I couldn’t part with it. No matter what has transpired over these many years we’ve been estranged, you are still my bow master.” You don’t get a chance to reply before Yukong says, “I have to return to the Palace of Astram.”
“I understand.” You tilt your head up and look at the clear blue sky. Perfect flying weather. You look back at her. “Perhaps we can catch up some other time.”
A pause, then she nods. “I would like that.” Turning on her heel, she moves to leave, but over her shoulder, Yukong says, “Until next time, master.” Then, she melts into the bustling crowd and disappears among them.
With a heavy exhale, you decide to go to Scalegorge Waterscape. You board a starskiff and head for Scalegorge Waterscape. It’s not a long journey at all but it feels interminable. Your heart pounds against your ribcage when you land, the sand soft under your boots as you disembark.
You can see the looming columns in the distance and you push down your nerves as you walk towards them, passing by the statue of your old friend. As you approach, a young boy with a blond ponytail walks past with a group of Cloud Knights flanking a man. The boy eyes you suspiciously and he’s about to question you when the man in custody says, “I presume you’re a part of the reunion.”
You don’t answer, brushing past both swiftly and silently. You see Jing Yuan first, his eyes meeting yours resolutely. He calls your name, voice low. The three others turn to face you and your heart stops.
Jingliu, wearing the same blindfold covering her eyes that she had when she escaped the Xianzhou. Dan Feng, or rather, his reincarnation, gazing at you with a spark of recognition in his eyes as he reaches into the fog of his mind for memories of you.
And him. Yingxing, though, you don’t think he’s going by that name anymore. No, he’s taken on a different moniker, one befitting of the life he now leads. Blade, a Stellaron Hunter, a weapon for the Slave of Destiny.
You force your feet to move, dragging you forward until you stand between Dan Feng — or whatever name he goes by now — and Blade. Jingliu starts to move now, her steps precise, and she stops in the center of your circle. “And so,” she begins, “everyone is present. I never thought the High-Cloud Hexad would be able to gather again in the same place after hundreds of years.”
You watch her intently as she continues, recalling the promise you all made so many centuries ago. No matter what happened, you would all gather together and share a drink. You remember that day with too much clarity, how Baiheng grinned when she suggested it, bright and beaming like the sun. You remember clinking your cups together to toast the vow. Those days feel so distant, so unattainable now.
“How sad that Scalegorge Waterscape remains empty while the world continues to turn. Some of us have been reborn,” — her eyes slide over to Dan Feng’s reincarnation — “while others have been denied death.” Her head pivots towards Blade, addressing him still when she says, “Some have become criminals.”
Then, she faces you. “And others have never stopped running and lost their souls along the way.”
Your hands clench into fists and you bite your tongue to stop from retorting but you know all too well how the IPC is viewed by much of the galaxy. Maybe you hoped that you would be regarded as one of the good ones. Maybe it’s just been denial on your part.
Regardless, Jingliu is as she has always been, her words as sharp and accurate as ever. Your fingers brush over the band around your wrist that contains your bow.
“There are also those,” she says, peering upwards, “who can no longer fulfill their promises. And in the end, our friendship is no more. Soon, I will be shackled and tried. This will be the last you see of me. This is why I sent out the invitations before departing, hoping that everyone would be gathered here for my final farewell.”
Then, she utters the words you have heard time and time again in your sleep, in dreams and nightmares that never seem to end.
“Of six people, three must pay a price.”
She’s still speaking but her voice fades into the back of your mind as the sound of your blood roaring fills your ears. You feel cursed, sometimes, as a long-life species, doomed to live and remember and suffer.
You almost think Baiheng’s fate was the kindest of them all, unburdened of guilt and heartache and memories.
And just as soon as you all gather, Jingliu soon begins to dismiss you. She and Jing Yuan discuss where she will be detained and as they turn to leave, Blade interrupts. Coldly, he says, “Before you leave, you still owe me my due.”
It’s all too clear what he wants. Your stomach drops at his request and finally, you really look at the man who used to be the man you loved. One of his hands is gloved, the other wrapped in bandages. There’s a bandage around his thigh. Another twined at his bicep.
Your heart cracks. How much pain and suffering has he endured? How long has he begged for death and an end, felt the slide of a sword or the bullet of a gun, just to regrow again and return to the same agonizing cycle?
When Jingliu refuses to draw her sword against him without provocation, Blade draws his, an ancient, broken sword you’ve seen countless times when it was brand-new. One that has been shattered and pieced back together over and over again, just as its wielder has been as well.
You hear Jingliu’s dreamy voice float above the clanging of metal. “Their faces still linger before my eyes, like a bygone dream.” As they begin to duel, your head spins and memories you’ve buried deep down in the recesses of your heart and mind break through their confines and seep into your bones.
Baiheng’s loud laugh, ringing up to the stars as you walked the streets of Aurum Alley. Jingliu poured you a cup of tea as you caught up at her home. Jing Yuan fell asleep against your shoulder as you all sat together on a sunny day. Dan Feng’s exasperated voice called for you to slow down.
Jingliu continues: “I thought those joyful days would flow indefinitely before us — like a Xianzhou lifetime.” Blade lunges for her, the tip of his sword skimming close to her face, intentional in its avoidance. Instead, it slices her blindfold and it flutters into the wind.
You entered Yingxing’s workshop in the Artisanship Commission. Swords, daggers, and other weaponry lay around the shop, some cooling in water, fresh from the forge; others hanging on the wall. You found him hunched over his workbench, scowling and grumbling.
You crept with quiet steps to him, tapping his shoulder. Yingxing whirled around furiously, expression softening slightly when he saw you. “What are you doing here?” he asked.
“You promised you’d meet up with me an hour ago and when you didn’t show, I figured you’d be here.” You tried to peer at his workbench, but he moved in front of you, broad shoulders blocking your view.
“What’re you working on?”
“Nothing.”
“You were just huffing and puffing, Yingxing. That doesn’t seem like nothing.”
“It’s nothing worth your time,” he replied, standing up to usher you to the door, but he didn’t anticipate your quick reflexes, and you skirted around him.
On the workbench sat a small ring. It was gold, dented and misshapen, so different from Yingxing’s regular work. “Don’t—” he started as you reached for it, turning it over in your fingers.
“Who’s this for?” you asked, stomach turning at the thought of it being for another.
“Nobody.”
You plastered a smirk on your face to hide your simmering jealousy. “Is it for that pretty shopgirl who always gives you an extra berrypheasant skewer for free?”
“No,” he grumbled.
“What about the girl—”
“It’s for you,” he said. “For your birthday next week.”
“Oh!” Your heart swelled and you bit back the grin that threatened to break out. “I’m sorry I ruined the surprise. It’s beautiful, Yingxing.”
“No, it’s not. Discard it. I will make you something better.”
You reeled back from him, cupping the (jewelry) protectively in your hands. “I love it! It’s already perfect!”
“It’s sloppy.”
You frown at him defiantly and slide it on your finger with ease. “It’s perfect.”
“In what way?”
“Because it came from you,” you said. “Because it’s thoughtful and kind and I love it, and I love you.” The minute the words left your mouth, your stomach dropped. It was out in the open now — the feelings you had been dancing around for months. Your unspoken pining finally made tangible with words.
He went still. “You love me?”
You laughed weakly, desperately fighting the anxiety clawing up your throat. “Isn’t it obvious?” When he didn’t reply, you began to say, “Forget I said anything”
“No,” he said. and then with one stride, he closed the gap between the two of you, lips crashing against yours.
Jingliu leaps into the air, sword aimed precisely and lethally. “Yet, dreams…” she says, “...will eventually fade — like clouds from the sky.”
You remembered when you had found out what Dan Feng and Yingxing had done, tampering with the Ambrosial Arbor and committing one of the most grievous of sins. You remembered how it felt like your heart had been ripped out when you heard of their fates, of Dan Feng’s forced reincarnation, Yingxing’s wicked immortality wrought by mara and his banishment. How you had sobbed and screamed and tore apart your shared home with Yingxing before your legs had given out and you sunk to the floor in despair and betrayal and hopelessness.
You left the Xianzhou Alliance soon after, packed up in the middle of a cold, gray night and disappeared. You couldn’t stay, not in the home that reminded you of him or on the fleet that reminded you of them, of everything. You were adrift for a long time before Diamond found you.
You watch as Jingliu drives her sword into Blade’s chest, the force sending him sprawling. She yanked it out of him, no blood spurting from the wound or flecking her blade. He lay there for minutes before jerking, eyes flying open and gasping for air. He sits up then stands quickly, and he says nothing further to her.
As Dan Feng’s reincarnation goes to speak with Jingliu, then Blade, and Jing Yuan (Dan Heng, you hear Jing Yuan call him), you cautiously approach Blade. He’s looking out into the distance of Scalegorge Waterscape but he turns when you stand beside him.
There’s no greeting, not that you expect one. He asks, “What do you go by now?”
“Tourmaline,” you answer.
He just continues to stare at you. Then, Blade’s eyes flick down, settling on your neck. He points at the ring that you wear on a chain around your neck. “This,” he says. “What’s this?”
Your heart aches. He doesn’t remember. Of course, he doesn’t; the mara fragments his mind. You’re sure it’s familiar to him, which is why he’s asking, but like Dan Heng, he does not have all his memories from your former life. “You— Yingxing made it for me.”
“It’s ugly.”
You can’t help but scowl at him and there’s a sense of deja vu as you snap, “No, it’s not.” It’s perfect because it came from you. Because you crafted weapons and armor and things that were meant to be sharp and lethal; you were unused to making something meant for softness and love and you did so anyway for me.
Blade doesn’t react. The breeze passing through rustles his long, dark hair. He’s as handsome as ever and you hate it. You hate this. You hate Jingliu for orchestrating this. You hate yourself for coming. And you hate him, this stranger who wears your beloved Yingxing’s face but will never be the man he once was.
You don’t even realize that there are tears rolling down your cheeks until you feel hands, strong and calloused from years of work the owner of the appendage can only remember in fragments, cup your cheek. His thumbs wipe at your tears but when your eyes meet him, he freezes, eyes widening ever so slightly as if he can’t believe he’s doing it himself, a subconscious instinct driving him. A memory of what was.
You expect him to withdraw swiftly but his hands are slow, fingers skimming your skin gently as if trying to savor the feeling and engrave it on their tips. They reach your chin, falling away. Blade’s arms hang at his sides and he’s still.
Then, he turns away and begins his journey out of Scalegorge Waterscape. He casts one last long look at you over his shoulder, expression unreadable. Something swims in his crimson eyes that you can’t discern. You want to say it’s longing, maybe even something affectionate, but the man you loved is long gone. You can’t read this stranger.
You blink and he’s vanished before your very eyes. It leaves you, Jing Yuan, and Dan Heng alone. Dan Heng says quietly to you, “You were the bow master of the Luofu.”
You offer him a sad smile. “I was.”
“Where are you going from here?” Jing Yuan asks.
“Back to Pier Point,” you respond softly. “I have matters to attend to for the IPC.”
“I see,” Jing Yuan says. “I would invite you to stay but I know it’s a selfish request.”
“Another time, General,” you say. “When I return again, we’ll meet up once more.” You address Dan Heng: “And you?”
“I’ll return to the Astral Express.”
“Ah,” you say wistfully, “a Trailblazer. It suits you.”
He gives you a nod and a small smile, and you say, “Goodbye, Jing Yuan. Goodbye, Dan Heng.”
You make your way back to the starskiff, still dutifully parked where you left it. As you climb inside, one last lingering memory drifts into your mind.
“When I die,” Yingxing said as he held you close, curled around you protectively, “promise you won’t forget me?”
“Why are you talking about this, my love? Planning on dying anytime soon?”
“It is something to consider. I am not a long-life species. So promise me when I am gone, you won’t forget me.”
You gaze up at him, “As if I could ever forget about you.”
Tumblr media
You massage your temples. This Quantum Collider nonsense is more of a headache than you anticipated. “Mail’s in!” Your assistant waves a stack of envelopes at you, placing them on your desk before taking his leave.
You sift through the pile — bills, forms you had to sign, scam letters about an overdue warranty…
You pick out one envelope in particular. It’s red among a sea of white and you slice it open with your letter opener. The note you pull out only has a few words on it: a time and a place. There is no sign-off or official signature. All that is at the bottom was the Xianzhou character for the word ‘blade.’
