I hope hasan reacts to your shit. He could destroy your whole world view kike
Imagine riding Hasan's dick so hard, couldn't be me.
I kinda hope he does see my blog. I can already picture his response.
He would probably yell, throw a tantrum, claim i am genocidal because i support a two state solutions and criticize both Hamas and the Israeli government, say some antisemitic shit about how I, an arab jew, am supporting white colonialism as according to him, all jews are white. He then would probably insult me instead of coming up with any actual points before spreading propaganda to his fans.
Real talk though, do you even know the type of person you are supporting? He has said before that rape is a rich white person problem as only rich white boys rape rich white girls. He insulted and threw a tanty when a trans person asked him not to speak over trans voices in trans debates. He has spread so much misinformation that is easily verifiable as false. He claims to be an expert on topics he has zero experience in apart from seeing shit on the news from the comfort of his home. He is a multi-millionare who claims to be a socialist yet does not pay his mods.
This ask also spurred me to see what shit he has been saying recently as I usually just ignore him, and he literally said that the protocols of zion is the reason for modern day antisemitism. Which is so cooked as its not the cause for modern day antisemitism, it is an almagamation of antisemitic beliefs which have existed for centuries beforehand, all wrapped up into one book. Most antisemitic tropes existed far before that was written and were already popular world wide before the book was written. The protocols are bad and did cause more antisemitism, but to act like they are the reason for antisemitism today is just cooked. Antisemitism is forever morphing and fits whatever it needs to for jews to be treated as a scapegoat. Modern day antisemitism didn't start with Nazi Germany, it started way beforehand.
Hasan should not be acting like some expert on antisemitism. He has no relevent degrees or experience and is not jewish himself. I think everyone should call out antisemitism when they see it, however he is not an expert and needs to stop acting like one and stop talking over jews. But of course he would probably just insult me for saying that.
Anyway I do hope he sees this and reacts to it publically, it would be really funny to see. I also hope he sees it as he also now can see how he has cultivated a space where antisemites like yourself who use an antisemitic slur, feel comfortable existing.

Card Meanings in the new, The Day I Picked Up Dazai art.
Tumblr media
Ok so im currently still in shock that were getting new day I picked up dazai content so bare with me, but onece again Asagiri has included playing cards in his art so of course I have to break down what they mean.
Lets start with side A (the right side):
First we see a joker:
Tumblr media
While Gogol is the obvious fit for the joker, the card also describes Dazai extremely well. He is almost always acting like the fool in any given situation, even in the mafia he loved to be as weird and funny as he could as well as tease and annoy the people around him, something jesters famously did.
In fact, his dynamic with Mori is very close to how a king and a jester used to work, where the jester was the only person who was allowed to openly mock the king and would usually heckle him. They also played a key part in psychological warfare, which we see Dazai specialises in.
I think the whole; wit, intelligence and unpredictability kind of speaks for itself.
Next card is the four of spades:
Tumblr media
This one is also really fitting, it shows how after the day I picked up Dazai side A, Dazai settles into his little routine of going to bar lupin with Oda as well as how he finally has someone who he can trust and be comfortable around. Finally, it is a clear message of optimism, something Dazai never shows before he meets Oda.
Next the two of hearts:
Tumblr media
This one is pretty obvious, it's Dazai and Oda spending time at bar lupin. It actually fits so well, there's not much I can say about it other then how it shows the love and care Dazai and Oda had for each other (platonically)
Now for Side B (prepare to cry)
The first card is the three of spades:
Tumblr media
Whyyyyyyyyyy... why Asagiri. This one is also fairly obvious but it has multiple meanings. It most clearly represents Dazai suffering in side B as he has to run the mafia without odasaku and live in utter loneliness while destroying all the connections he never got to have for the sake of a friend he never got to meet.
“It was hard,” muttered the young man. “It was really hard fighting Mimic without you in the organization. I had no choice but to take over for Mori and make enemies of everyone around me to expand the business. Everything I did was for this world’s—”
It also represents the moment on the platform where he nearly tells Odasaku the truth and goes with him to bar lupin, the horrible decision to abandon everything for Odas future
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The next card is... the ace of spades:
The ace of spade has many meanings, most of which involve change or transition, but by far its most famous meaning it death. I really don't think I have to explain this one, Beast Dazai having the card of death has a pretty clear meaning.
Tumblr media
But the ace of spade does have a secondary meaning, and this one is a little more hopeful, as it shows Dazai passing the safety of this world onto Atsushi and Auktagawa.
Finally, (it's a bit hard to see) we have the ten of diamonds:
Tumblr media
I want to focus mostly on the highlighted part because it's what really applies to BEAST Dazai, he lived his whole life to create a world where what matters most to him, that Oda gets to be happy and write his books, becomes real. This card doesn't apply to Dazai directly, more to the fact that he made succeeding in his mission his only priority and discarded everything else.
Bonus round Odasku card; the king of clubs
the only card thats seen on Oda's section and one that clearly represents Odasaku as a character.
Tumblr media
"King of clubs represents a dark man, who is loyal and kind. He is a good businessman, shrewd with money and investments, but isn’t selfish. In fact, the King of clubs is a very devoted father, husband and citizen. In a broader sense, the King of clubs encompasses idealized qualities of a fatherly figure. This card is universally considered as a very good omen."
I feel like this sums Odasaku up very well, the devoted father and loyal friend parts are just him to a t.
(this is also the card I think best represents Fukuzawa)
Right, I think I got everything, if you disagree with this or find something I missed, please reblog or comment with whatever you want to add, or send me an ask. I love discussing, and hearing other people's views as long as they're respectful.
If you add something, please add it in the post not the tags, so I can reply to it (or in the tags if that makes you more comfortable)

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was a normal day...
you went to get some coffee. You sipped your coffee and sat on a seat by the counter. Hyunjin wanted to introduce you to his new girlfriend. You were pretty excited.
'Y/N!' you hear him from a distance shouting. You turn around and wave towards him. He is holding hands with his new girlfriend and he is leading her towards me.
'Whats up Hyunjin.' you gave him a high-five.
'This is Brittany. Brittany this is Y/N.'
'Hey.' she smiles shy.
'Hey.' you smile back.
'I am going to get some drinks, what do you want babe?'
'For me an espresso.' her voice sounds very cute.
He went off and she turned to me. Her face went from 'cute/kawaii' girl to a 'bitch-face'.
'So how long do you know mine man?'
'We are childhood friends, so pretty long i guess.' you laugh. She clearly didn't like that.
'Yeah okay, so you ever had feelings for him?'
You laugh: 'Me? No never.'
'What is so funny? What is there to laugh about?'
'Nothing, so... uhmm you have any hobby's?' you ask.
'Not interested in talking to you, sweetheart.' she says.
You are to stunned to speak for a moment. You want to comment on her sentence but then Hyunjin comes back.
'And? What are you two girls talking about?'
You want to say the truth but then she says 'Oh we are talking about mine two dogs. Right Y/N?'
Her smile is fake. It is like plastic. Just awfull, that Hyunjin can't see through her is beyond you.
'Yeah we were having a wonderfull conversation about her 'two lovely dogs'.
'Oops baby, its alreaddy 8 am. Can we please go, mine baby bear?' she says with the sweetest voice.
'Uhmm yeah sure, babe. Bye Y/N.'
'Yeah bye-bye.' she drags him out of the coffee-shop as fast as she could.
'MiNe BaBy BeAr.' you mock her voice.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Some hours later you text Hyunjin to hang out, like you always used to do.
*Hey Hyunjin, today is our game-night. You bring the snacks, i prepared the drinks. Do not come late, i swear Hyunjin. Not like last time.*
You wait for his reply. You wait and wait and wait. Still nothing. After a hour you still got nothing. Tommorow you had to go fill in some papers so you could not be late. You turned off your phone and went to bed.
"Why isn't he replying?" you though.
You read some pages of your book before you went to bed. You dimmed the lights and fell asleep.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was morning. You slept well, maybe thats because you always would stay up late with Hyunjin.
You checked your phone and found this message.
*I am sorry Y/N. I can't come tonight. Brittany wants to watch a movie, i am sorry.*
You aren't mad at him for choosing his girlfriend over you. Its normal.
*It is okay Hyunjin. I slept like a someone who slept good ;)*
You click on send. Even tho you respect his choice to hang-out with his girlfriend. Deep inside you feel like garabage.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
You went to work and focused on doing your job. Your boss wasn't a very nice guy, so you should problaby give everything you've got.
Today you 'accidently' threw coffee on him. 'Accidently'. You were actually pissed off by him. His name is Changbin.
*He needs to be happy he is cute. Because if not, i would have kicked his ass by now.*
you smirk.
'Is there SOMETHING funny Y/N?' your boss Changbin yells.
'No sir, mine apologies for this mess.' you were laughing in your head.
'You think this is funny, don't you?'
'Never sir, i would never find this funny.'
He looked at you with hawk-eyes and he left.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When your were driving home, you first wanted to ask Hyunjin to hang-out.
You tried texting him but apparantly he blocked you?!
You looked at the words 'cannot deliver'.
You don't believe he would block you just like that, so you decide to stop at his appartament.
You run up the stairs and knock on his door.
'Hyunjin, its me!'
Instead of him, Brittany opened the door.
'What do you want darling?'
'Uhmm, i am here for Hyunjin. I want to talk to him.'
'No you cannot.'
'Excuse me?'
Suddenly she starts screaming 'OMG Y/N THAT HURTS, HYUNJIN.'
'What the hell are you doing?!' you ask
She screams for Hyunjin. He come's running over.
'She hurted me.' she fake cried.
'Y/N why would you do that?!'
'I did absolutely nothing, you have to believe me.'
'Hyunjin.' she cried
'I did NOTHING. Stop the dam crying.'
'Hey you do not talk to mine girl like that. Get out!'
'What?' you ask.
'I said get out of mine face, now.' you were to stunned to speak. Hyunjin never yelled at you like that.
'I did nothing.'
'Yeah right i 'believe you'.' he says sarcastic.
'Wow, you really believe her, don't you.' you say sad. You cannot believe it, this moment.
'Go away Y/N.'
You looked at him, sadness growing in your eyes. You will not cry where he is standing. You turn around and leave. This could be your last -best friend- interaction.

Any thoughts on the mystery behind the Veil of Death and the three brothers?
ana-lyz: So... What does it mean to be the Master of Death in HP universe? And like what does being MOD mean specifically for Harry?
Okay, funny thing is I got the first of your asks like an hour after I added to my drafts a post titled "Master of Death", so I was just thinking about it. And then I started answering it and you sent the second ask, so, great minds think alike, I guess.
Long post ahead:
The Veil, Death, and its Master
I'm going to cover what we know from the books, my opinions on it, and some of my evidence-based headcanons, since there is a lot of speculation on my part.
The Afterlife and the Veil
So, I wanna talk a bit about death, as it appears in the Harry Potter books. We know an afterlife exists in the HP world both when Harry dies and when he speaks to Nearly Headless Nick after Sirius dies.
I want to start with the scene in Deathly Hallows in the King's Cross limbo. Specifically these few sections:
Barely had the wish formed in his head than robes appeared a short distance away. He took them and put them on. They were soft, clean, and warm. It was extraordinary how they had appeared just like that, the moment he had wanted them. . . . He stood up, looking around. Was he in some great Room of Requirement?
(DH, 596)
“Where are we, exactly?” “Well, I was going to ask you that,” said Dumbledore, looking around. “Where would you say that we are?” Until Dumbledore had asked, Harry had not known. Now, however, he found that he had an answer ready to give. “It looks,” he said slowly, “like King’s Cross station. Except a lot cleaner and empty, and there are no trains as far as I can see.” “King’s Cross station!” Dumbledore was chuckling immoderately. “Good gracious, really?” “Well, where do you think we are?” asked Harry, a little defensively. “My dear boy, I have no idea. This is, as they say, your party.”
(DH, 601)
“Tell me one last thing,” said Harry. “Is this real? Or has this been happening inside my head?” Dumbledore beamed at him, and his voice sounded loud and strong in Harry’s ears even though the bright white mist was descending again, obscuring his figure. “Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?
(DH, 610)
I don't think this place Harry was in is the Afterlife, or even connected to the Afterlife. I think it is in Harry's head. Harry having complete control over it, actually calling it out as behaving like the Room of Requirement, Dumbledore not knowing where they are until Harry knows where they are, etc. All this doesn't fit with it being a limbo on the way to death and the figure there being the real Dumbledore. Dumbledore, throughout this scene, acts kind of strange, way more helpful and finally says all the right things Harry wants to hear.
Not-Dumbledore himself tells Harry he already knows everything he explains to him:
“Explain,” said Harry. “But you already know,” said Dumbledore. He twiddled his thumbs together
(DH, 597)
So, I truly believe it isn't really happening. That this isn't death and it isn't Dumbledore. throughout the scene, Dumbledore doesn't actually give Harry new information Harry couldn't guess on his own. He's just going over things Harry already knew and creating a nice narrative out of them. At some points, he asks Harry what he thinks, and only starts explaining once Harry knows the answer (or what he wants the answer to be). I think this is Harry's subconscious coping and not actual death.
Additionally, there's the disturbing baby Voldemort thing. Now, the real Voldemort is still alive, so contrary to what Not-Dumbledore says, it isn't actually Tom Riddle:
“Oh yes!” said Dumbledore. “Yes, he destroyed it. Your soul is whole, and completely your own, Harry.” “But then . . . ” Harry glanced over his shoulder to where the small, maimed creature trembled under the chair. “What is that, Professor?” “Something that is beyond either of our help,” said Dumbledore
(DH, 598)
What I believe it is, is the soul in the Horcrux in Harry. Separated from Harry's own soul within his mind. That's the only thing it can be, in my opinion. I don't believe the soul shards in the Horcruxes could pass into an afterlife, or even to limbo. They were created to be bound to life and passing away is against their very nature (unless, maybe, if you through them through the veil).
Besides all these oddities in the scene, it just doesn't make sense for Dumbledore to be there. Nearly Headless Nick gives some insight about death and the Afterlife:
“He will not come back,” repeated Nick quietly. “He will have . . . gone on.” “What d’you mean, ‘gone on’?” said Harry quickly. “Gone on where? Listen — what happens when you die, anyway? Where do you go? Why doesn’t everyone come back? Why isn’t this place full of ghosts? Why — ?” “I cannot answer,” said Nick. “You’re dead, aren’t you?” said Harry exasperatedly. “Who can answer better than you?” “I was afraid of death,” said Nick. “I chose to remain behind. I sometimes wonder whether I oughtn’t to have . . . Well, that is neither here nor there. . . . In fact, I am neither here nor there. . . .” He gave a small sad chuckle. “I know nothing of the secrets of death, Harry, for I chose my feeble imitation of life instead. I believe learned wizards study the matter in the Department of Mysteries —”
(OotP, 861)
From the way Nick speaks, ghosts are caught between life and death, part of them remains among the living while the rest moves on. Hhosts live in limbo, unable to be alive or dead. From his words, it also implies the properly dead, those who chose to move on, stay dead. They stay gone.
If that is the case, how could Dumbledore have come to greet Harry in limbo? He's dead, truly gone, and death has no exceptions. There is no reason Dumbledore could speak to Harry in limbo and his parents won't. Once you're dead, you reach the afterlife and there you stay.
So I don't think the white King's Cross in Harry's death vision was connected to the afterlife, nor was it the real Dumbledore there. So, what is the actual afterlife?
Well, we don't really know. But, I can cover what we do know about the nature of death in the HP universe.
From Nick's words, the afterlife is the better option, than becoming a ghost. Nick describes ghosts as imprints left behind, but imprints of what specifically?
I talked about this already when I discussed how to make Horcruxes, but in alchemy, everything is comprised of three things:
Sulfur - soul
Mercury - spirit (that binds the body and the soul)
Salt - body
A ghost doesn't have a body, and we know all that moves on to the afterlife is one's soul. Therefore, it stands to reason ghosts are an imprint of a soul, while the spirit leaves at the moment of death. That's what an Avada Kedavra does, it removes the spirit, the connection between the body and the soul. That's how it kills instantly and without a trace.
So, when someone passes into the afterlife, it's their soul that passes away.
What about the echoes of Harry's parents and Cedric in Voldemort's wand during the duel in the graveyard?
Well, they're dead, they moved on, so it can't be their soul. The figures aren't even described the same way as ghosts or diary Tom, figures we know are made of souls:
and then something much larger began to blossom from Voldemort’s wand tip, a great, grayish something, that looked as though it were made of the solidest, densest smoke. . . . It was a head . . . now a chest and arms . . . the torso of Cedric Diggory. the dense shadow of a second head, If ever Harry might have released his wand from shock, it would have been then, but instinct kept him clutching his wand tightly, so that the thread of golden light remained unbroken, even though the thick gray ghost of Cedric Diggory (was it a ghost? it looked so solid) emerged in its entirety from the end of Voldemort’s wand, as though it were squeezing itself out of a very narrow tunnel . . . and this shade of Cedric stood up, and looked up and down the golden thread of light, and spoke.
(GoF, 665-666)
Their bodies are buried, and Cedric's is just lying there, neither are they physical enough to be bodies. I believe this is their spirit. Remember what I said about the Killing Curse just now, it severs the tie, and as such, it keeps the spirit. So, Harry is speaking to his parents' spirit, the echoes of their lives, not souls.
Now, let's talk about the veil. The veil is one of the most fascinating things introduced in the books, and the way it is introduced is fascinating on its own, but that's for later. The veil is a physical archway into the world of the dead.
The concept of such an entrance exists in multiple mythologies. In Greek mythology, many heroes (Odysseus, Orpheus, Heracles, Theseus, etc.) all travel through the underworld in one way or another, this is why the hero's journey goes through the underworld, it's very common. In Mesopotamian mythology, Gilgamesh and Ishtar both travel to the underworld. The point is, a gateway into the afterlife you can travel through, is a concept humanity has been toying with for millennia.
What's interesting is that, like Thestrals, those who've seen death (Harry, Luna, and Neville) can hear whispers from it. They experience it differently from others who haven't witnessed death (Ron, Hermione, and Ginny) who feel unnerved by it (although, Neville and Luna react differently from Harry, but more on that later). Not much more can be said about it, except that unlike all these gates into the underworld from myths, the veil is meant to be a one-way ticket.
In general, the afterlife in the Wizarding World is a one-way passage. Once you're gone, you're gone. Hence the closest thing to proper necromancy they have is creating inferi, which are soulless since the soul can't be pulled back from the afterlife.
The veil was also there before the Ministry of Magic, which was built around it. My guess is that some ancient wizards made it, and how or why were forgotten over time.
As the Peverell brothers were born around the 1210s and the Ministry of Magic was founded in 1707, it's possible, that the same Peverells from the story have built the veil. I actually think it's quite likely.
Death Himself
The idea of death personified is just as old and prevalent in many myths and cultures as a gateway leading into the afterlife. Whether Death, as a being, exists in the Wizarding World, I'm uncertain, but I don't think it's likely.
God-like spirits like Death feel out of place in the world in a way. Like, having a pantheon of gods feels wrong for the world of Harry Potter. It feels out of place with the established lore and magic. We don't see any evidence of wizarding society having any kind of unique religion in which such beings exist. Death, in the tale, is also described as similar to a dementor, making the idea that the author based Death's appearance on that of a dementor plausible.
That being said, Death's similarity to dementors could be the other way around. As in, the dementors look like death because of their connection to him. And, Death from the Tale doesn't really act like a god. How he behaves and is spoken of in the Tale of the Three Brothers reminds me a lot of a fae-like creature. Like, a powerful being who's a trickster that twists your wishes into something that he can use against you.
However I look at it, I still don't feel a being like this would fit in the world of Harry Potter, it feels wrong to add gods (or fae) in there. We don't see any hint that such beings might exist, which makes me feel they don't. So, I don't really think a personification of Death as appearing in the tale actually exists, but they do have an afterlife, as established above.
The Peverells and the Hallows
So we all know the legend about the three Peverell brothers who cheated death and received his gifts. Dumbledore (the one Harry imagines in his death fever dram) is certain it went down a little differently. That the tale is to explain incredibly powerful magical artifacts made by extraordinary wizards:
“Oh yes, I think so. Whether they met Death on a lonely road . . . I think it more likely that the Peverell brothers were simply gifted, dangerous wizards who succeeded in creating those powerful objects. The story of them being Death’s own Hallows seems to me the sort of legend that might have sprung up around such creations.
(DH, 602)
While it's not really Dumbledore and more Harry's own mind, I agree with him the Peverell brothers were probably no run-of-the-mill wizards, and I agree it's unlikely they've met Death, as I don't believe he exists.
Now, all the Hallows have a sentience to them beyond just any magical artifact. Even the wand is more sentient than any other wand, which are already quite sentient ("the wand chooses the wizard").
The wand of the first brother is a Hallow I already wrote about how it chooses its master. It is a wand intrinsically connected with death, having a core of Thestral hair. (I wonder if a core from a Thestral would agree to work for a wizard who hasn't seen death, but I digress)
This wand is actually the least impressive Hallow, in my opinion. Even though it says to be unbeatable:
Naturally, with the Elder Wand as his weapon, he could not fail to win the duel that followed. Leaving his enemy dead upon the floor
(DH, 352)
Its user is beaten quite often, that's how the wand changes owners, after all. This wand's tendency for even more sentience than other wands is what is particularly unique about it. How it chooses its master repeatedly, and sometimes even decides it prefers another over its current master, something unheard of for any other wand.
The Resurrection Stone has the supposed ability to pull a soul imprint from the afterlife:
“Yet she was sad and cold, separated from him as by a veil. Though she had returned to the mortal world, she did not truly belong there and suffered.
(DH, 352)
Something that I just discussed above should be impossible. Once dead and in the afterlife, nothing comes back out. Harry uses it as well for the same purpose and describes them as being similar to Tom from the diary:
They were neither ghost nor truly flesh, he could see that. They resembled most closely the Riddle that had escaped from the diary so long ago, and he had been memory made nearly solid. less substantial than living bodies, but much more than ghosts, they moved toward him, and on each face, there was the same loving smile.
(DH, 589)
Because that's what the stone brings back, echoes of souls, but they aren't what Tom Riddle was in CoS.
“We are part of you,” said Sirius. “Invisible to anyone else.”
(DH, 590)
This line, made me believe the resurrection stone does something different than its name suggests and more similar to the lie Tom in the diary told Harry. They aren't souls, they're memories, echoes from within Harry himself. "Memory made solid"
Magic, in the world of Harry Potter, can't bring back someone who has moved on to the afterlife. It's a one-way ticket, as I've established before, once your soul moves on, that's it (if you try to resurrect someone immediately after they died and their soul hasn't yet moved on it's a different story). So I think, these shades are based on Harry's memories, and not actual souls brought back. It'll make more sense magically since his thoughts and memories are there, but the souls have gone on.
It also makes the tale of the second brother make more sense. He suffered because it wasn't really his wife that came back, but a shade based on his own memory. The tale said that she suffered, but I think it was Cadmus who suffered, not truly having her back. However, depending on how she died, her suffering might've been his memories of her that the stone resurrected, or the tale made it all up just like it made up Death.
The stone is just as picky about its master as the wand. It does not seem to have worked for anyone other than Cadmus Peverell and Harry himself. We don't hear of any Gaunts who used the stone, nor do we hear from Dumbledore he succeded in using it (I don't think it's actually Dumbledore in the conversation in King's Cross as I mentioned above). Regardless, I think the real Dumbledore probably did try to use it, and I will hazard a guess he failed. Since the stone didn't choose him.
The Cloak is unique in many ways. Lasting centuries, way longer than any invisibility cloak can, passing from parent to child for generations. It also does a better job of concealing you than another invisibility cloak, if, it still has its limits:
“...We are talking about a cloak that really and truly renders the wearer completely invisible, and endures eternally, giving constant and impenetrable concealment, no matter what spells are cast at it. How many cloaks have you ever seen like that, Miss Granger?”
(DH, 354)
The cloak is similar to the other Hallows in how picky it is regarding its master. The cloak wouldn't belong to anyone who just possesses it, it's not enough. It has to be passed willingly on the owner's deathbed, as they great death as an old friend. It means that in the books, no one but Harry could be its owner.
All artifacts are powerful, but they aren't capable of anything that breaks the laws of nature (as the stone doesn't really resurrect), they are also sentient and picky, but it isn't something beyond the capacity of wizards. Why, we know of four wizards who made three sentient magical artifacts already — The Hogwarts founders.
The four founders enchanted the sorting hat together, but more relevant to the discussion of the Hallows are the Book of Admittance and the Quill of Acceptance.
At the precise moment that a child first exhibits signs of magic, the Quill, which is believed to have been taken from an Augurey, floats up out of its inkpot and attempts to inscribe the name of that child upon the pages of the Book (Augurey feathers are known to repel ink and the inkpot is empty; nobody has ever managed to analyse precisely what the silvery fluid flowing from the enchanted Quill is). Those few who have observed the process (several headmasters and headmistresses have enjoyed spending quiet hours in the Book and Quill’s tower, hoping to catch them in action) agree that the Quill might be judged more lenient than the Book. A mere whiff of magic suffices for the Quill. The Book, however, will often snap shut, refusing to be written upon until it receives sufficiently dramatic evidence of magical ability.
(from pottermore)
The idea of multiple sentient, powerful magical artifacts that need to agree is something wizards are capable of. And that, I think, is the secret to becoming the Master of Death — having all 3 Hallows pick you. Just like the book and quill need to agree a student should be admitted to Hogwarts.
Master of Death
Or more specifically what does that actually mean and why I think even if someone retrieved all 3 Hallows they wouldn't have become the Master of Death if their name isn't Harry James Potter.
This is definitely more in the headcanon territory, but the first scene that really made me think about it is the one in the Death Chamber in the Department of Mysteries. Because I think Harry and death always had a weird connection, it might've been around before the failed killing curse, and it was definitely around before Harry mastered all 3 Hallows.
So, why do I think Harry was always bound to be the Master of Death, and even if Dumbledore or Voldemort had all the Hallows it wouldn't have helped them?
There, are a few things that led me to this conclusion.
First, as I mentioned above, the cloak can not belong to anyone other than Harry in the books. It means that no one but Harry could master all of the Deathly Hallows, regardless of what they did.
Second, This first scene in the Death Chamber with the veil. I'll copy parts of it below and ask you to note, as you read, that Harry, Neville, and Luna are the only three who can see Thestrals and therefore should react more to the veil:
“Who’s there?” said Harry, jumping down onto the bench below. There was no answering voice, but the veil continued to flutter and sway. “Careful!” whispered Hermione. ... He had the strangest feeling that there was someone standing right behind the veil on the other side of the archway. ... “Let’s go,” called Hermione from halfway up the stone steps. “This isn’t right, Harry, come on, let’s go. . . .” She sounded scared, much more scared than she had in the room where the brains swam, yet Harry thought the archway had a kind of beauty about it, old though it was. The gently rippling veil intrigued him; he felt a very strong inclination to climb up on the dais and walk through it. “Harry, let’s go, okay?” said Hermione more forcefully. “Okay,” he said, but he did not move. He had just heard something. There were faint whispering, murmuring noises coming from the other side of the veil. “What are you saying?” he said very loudly, so that the words echoed all around the surrounding stone benches. “Nobody’s talking, Harry!” said Hermione, now moving over to him. “Someone’s whispering behind there,” he said, moving out of her reach and continuing to frown at the veil. “Is that you, Ron?” “I’m here, mate,” said Ron, appearing around the side of the archway. “Can’t anyone else hear it?” Harry demanded, for the whispering and murmuring was becoming louder; without really meaning to put it there, he found his foot was on the dais. “I can hear them too,” breathed Luna, joining them around the side of the archway and gazing at the swaying veil. “There are people in there!” .... “Sirius,” Harry repeated, still gazing, mesmerized, at the continuously swaying veil. “Yeah . . .” ... On the other side, Ginny and Neville were staring, apparently entranced, at the veil too.
(OotP, 773-775)
The interesting to note:
Luna, who can see Thestrals, also hears the whispering. I assume Neville does too.
Ron, Hermione, and Ginny are mesmerized but unnerved by the veil. Ron and Hermione seem to fight this memorization in their fear for Harry as he nears the veil.
Harry is the only one who is drawn to the veil He is the only one that moved, the only one whose feet take him against his will to the dias with the veil.
Harry thinks of it as oddly beautiful.
He has an urge to pass through that no one else does. All of them are frozen in place.
Harry is so affected he needs to be reminded twice that he's there to save Sirius before he can draw himself away from the veil.
Third, later in the book, after Sirius fell through the veil, there's this part:
He had reached the floor, his breath coming in searing gasps. Sirius must be just behind the curtain, he, Harry, would pull him back out again. . . . But as he reached the ground and sprinted toward the dais, Lupin grabbed Harry around the chest, holding him back. “There’s nothing you can do, Harry —” “Get him, save him, he’s only just gone through!” “It’s too late, Harry —” “We can still reach him —” Harry struggled hard and viciously, but Lupin would not let go. . . . “There’s nothing you can do, Harry . . . nothing. . . . He’s gone.”
(OotP, 806)
Harry's instinct to go through the veil to get Sirius out is so odd. The way he thinks that he himself can pull him out, not anyone else, but he... I don't know, but, this scene is interesting. It almost makes me feel Harry could pull Sirius back out. He defied death already once and will defy it again in the 7th book, so why not? Why wouldn't he be able to pull someone back from beyond the veil if they fell through just now (the timing is relevant, I don't think Hary could pull, say, his parents out).
My headcanon is that in that very moment if Lupin let Harry pull Sirius out, it would've worked. Caused a pandemonium about the fact Harry can apparently resurrect the dead (even if it's not really what he did), but that it would've worked. (I actually really want to write a fic like this)
Fourth, throughout the 7th book, once Harry finds out about the Hallows, he can't let the thought go. He knows his cloak is one, he is convinced the stone is in the snitch Dumbledore left him, way before he opened it. He just has a sense about it, and a fixation on it that's almost instinct:
Dumbledore had left the sign of the Hallows for Hermione to decipher, and he had also, Harry remained convinced of it, left the Resurrection Stone hidden in the golden Snitch. Neither can live while the other survives. . . master of Death. . . Why didn’t Ron and Hermione understand? “‘The last enemy shall be destroyed is death,”’ Harry quoted calmly
(DH, 374-375)
So, these are my reasons why I believe Harry is the only character in the books that could or would be the MOD. It's just that he always was, in a way. The Hallows already chose him before he ever held any of them.
But what does it mean to be the Master of Death?
“Well, of course not,” said Xenophilius, maddeningly smug. “That is a children’s tale, told to amuse rather than to instruct. Those of us who understand these matters, however, recognize that the ancient story refers to three objects, or Hallows, which, if united, will make the possessor master of Death.” ... “When you say ‘master of Death’—” said Ron. “Master,” said Xenophilius, waving an airy hand. “Conqueror. Vanquisher. Whichever term you prefer.”
(DH, 353)
We don't really get much besides this. Along with what's written on James and Lily's grave:
The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.
(DH, 283)
Harry believes all phrases, along with the prophecy are connected and lead him to believe he should become the Master of Death:
Three objects, or Hallows, which, if united, will make the possessor master of Death. . . Master. . . Conqueror. . . Vanquisher. . . The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. . . . And he saw himself, possessor of the Hallows, facing Voldemort, whose Horcruxes were no match. . . Neither can live while the other survives. . . Was this the answer?
(DH, 369-370)
So what can the Master of Death do? Death isn't a personified deity, what is defeating or contouring death mean? Does it mean immortality?
I don't know if I'll say full immortality, I think the Master of Death can die the same way Ignotus Peverell did. I think Ignotus Peverell was the first Master of Death, in a way, he at least represented the concept:
And then he greeted Death as an old friend, and went with him gladly, and, equals, they departed this life
(DH, 352)
He was death's equal, he could escape it and live a fulfilling life, before choosing to meet Death on his own terms. I think that's what it means, that Death won't find Harry until he is ready to move on, and when he finally chooses to move on, Death would greet him with open arms.
The crux of it is the choice. That death can't touch you until you choose to allow it. And those who become Masters of Death, would always eventually choose to greet death, as these are the type of people the 3 Hallows would choose. It's all about choices.
(For the record, yes, I think there could be more than one MOD, I think Ignotus was until his death, and then in the books, Harry is)
And considering how much emphasis is put on choices and intentions in the magic of this world, it seems only right to be so relevant here too.
Like with the Mirror or Erised, which only let someone who wanted to have the Philosopher's Stone but not use it, have it; the Hallows won't choose a master who wouldn't, eventually, be willing to accept death. Because mastering death, isn't only not dying, it's understanding it, and accepting it. Both the deaths of others and eventually your own.
Also, as I mentioned above, I headcanon that Harry could pull Sirius out the moment he fell in through the veil. I don't think anyone but Harry could. I believe, as a Master of Death, Harry is the only wizard (well, being) that can go into the afterlife, walk past the veil, and come back out. A Master of Death is the only one who the afterlife isn't a one-way ticket for.
(Although, I think it's possible that if you wear the invisibility cloak you might be able to pass into the veil and come out even without being the MOD, but, I wouldn't bet on it)
Summary of my thoughts
The afterlife exists in the Wizarding World and nothing that passes beyond the veil can return. It's a one-way ticket.
The scene in Deathly Hallows with Dumbledore in King's Cross station limbo didn't actually happen.
Death, as a deity of sorts most likely doesn't exist.
The Peverell brothers were powerful wizards who made the Deathly Hallows and perhaps the veil too.
The Resurrection stone can't bring a soul back from beyond the veil so it does the next best thing — reviving an illusion of a memory.
All 3 Deathly Hallows are very sentient magical artifacts like the sorting hat. Each of them is very picky when choosing its own master.
When all 3 Hallows choose the same master, this person is the Master of Death.
Being the Master of Death means the MOD won't die until the time of their choice. But the MOD will always choose to die eventually because that's the kind of person the Hallows would pick.
There can, over time, be more than one MOD (not at the same time though). And it's possible Ignotus Peverell was one, in a way.
The MOD might be the only person who can go into the veil and come back out.
The invisibility cloak might also allow you to make a trip into the veil and then back out.

gangs favorite classes🫶🥰🫡☝️🤓
i keep taking breaks from tumblr but i’m really tryna get back in the swing of things🙏
ponyboy:
ahhhh i haven’t reread the book in a while but he probably mentions classes he likes or he doesn’t like
ik he has like a D in his creative writing class or smth but that’s cause he don’t like the restrictions that come with writing for an assignment
in reality i feel like he is an english guy overall
also gives history ngl
more social studies classes
8/10 hes real for that
johnny:
elective guy thru and thru
like photography, art, ceramics, graphic design, etc
he might be amazing at these artsy classes
and that’s why he likes them OR
he just loves the chill classroom vibe yk
also he likes the kids in there too
i feel like johnny gets so annoyed with louder socs who mess around in the classes he likes
cause my guy is actually respectful🫶🙏
10/10 so valid honestly, like photo is fr my favorite class and i feel like johnny would totally fw that
sodapop:
language classes
like spanish, french, german, whatever floats your boat
i think he likes the funny atmosphere of everyone kinda messing up whenever they’re put on the spot to speak in class
just cause no one really cares
ALSO DESTROYS during presentations btw
like either he’s genuinely good
or he just keeps messing up and giggles abt it so much that the teacher starts yelling at him abt it
genuinely has a dgaf mindset to school in general which is very admirable
6/10 i hate my spanish 2 class but its ok😭🙏
darry:
sports med / sports weights
OR anatomy
like he just enjoys sports so anything that relates to that he finds really interesting
he likes the helping people aspect of sports med
and i’m in sports med as well which is actually so fun ngl
he eats with that
always crushes tests
i think he really studies for tests and actually tries
which allows him to get good grades🤓☝️
but he couldn’t care less abt classes he doesn’t like
7/10 valid
dally:
pretends to not give a shit but we know he does when it comes to the gang
bc of this, his fave classes are whatever he has the most friends in
other than that he thinks all classes are terrible and they all feel like years
math guy when he actually understands the concept
but the second things get hard he just gives up
“who needs these hyperbolas anyways man🙄”
lives for lunch and after school cause he just walks around and talks
or fights with other kids but we don’t talk abt that
6/10 im the same way abt math
two-bit:
any class where he can mess with the teacher
like either the teacher is chill and jokes around with him
OR the teacher actually sucks and two just makes them even more mad
lives for class laughter
like soda he enjoys more participation based classes, less the actual content
somehow he always gets sat in the desk right next to the teachers desk so they can keep an eye on him
barely ever gets to sit next to his friends for obvious reasons LMAO
7/10 also valid
steve:
obviously auto mechanic if the school offers it
otherwise he gives a science kid
like biology, physics, anatomy, stuff like that
his brain is just the type to get it
so those classes are barely hard for him
which is SO LUCKY
he the type to just go off about some technical concept the class is going over and explain it perfectly to his friend who needs help and then make a your mom joke the next minute
5/10 i hate physics and i hate how he’d be better at it than me
ANYWAYS REQUEST STUFF PLS🫶😋‼️
(btw i’m going thru requests rn so dw!!)

Some bits I wrote about Across The Spider-verse (mostly in response to Schnee's Analysis videos) +some:
i LOVED everything about Hobie Brown. His name, his free-spirited energy. His design, his role in the story Like, no smudge- cuz I know the movie was setting him up to be a love-triangle competitor--, but when Hobie crashed through the field Miles was struggling with, I felt RELIEF. Like. Miles was struggling to breathe, and Hobie just came in with a strong pat on the back and opened a window.
Almost literally.
He smashed open a window for some fresh air.
He could have easily been a joke-book comedic relief char, (but in this movie, everyone is :,D), but his humor is relevant humor, like you pointed out it pokes at what's going on, it's based in things that are relevant. It's funny for reasons that matter instead of just being shock-humor or ironic timing. He's a masssive relief to all the grim seriousness of the the rest of the movie's characters. Even when he's being serious like, I remember he literally just told Gwen or Miles or whoever "Just make your own watch". But he said it so lightly that it was easy to brush off as something with little thought put into it. Being rebellious is so natural to Hobie that self-enabling ideas are just common sense, and I love it.
Especially as someone who constantly struggles with self-limiting habits, I probably love him for the same reason I love Rock Lee from Naruto.

Miguel confused me at first. The fact that he was called a vampire, his brutish fighting style, his demeanor (Like Peter B. points out, he's joyless). His grandios ethos. I was thinking. "What exactly is spider-themed about this character?" I was thinking maybe he isn't a spiderman bc he's actually a werewolf or a vamp or something. But, then I saw the moment you Schnee shared in the comics, where Miguel shows his claws sticking out as a way to PROVE he's spiderman. And that's when I figured that his powers manifested differently than other Spider-men.
He has the body of a spider. Talons, venom, this hulking body and grizzly hair reminded me of a wolf spider or tarantula, he doesn't stick to things but uses claws (most bugs are so light that a little fiction is all they need to climb, unlike spidermen who have a geko-like stickyness to them that let's them MOVE like a spider would if they were as small and light as spiders), he's literally running as fast as a motorcycle (cuz indeed bugs are fast af) most other spidermen have the senses and reflexes of a spider (with some strength and invulnerability but, that's standard superhero stuff) And, really, knowing about the comics really broadens this theme:
Miguel wasn't even bitten by a spider, his story doesn't follow the same as other spider-men, he doesn't have any powers associated with spider-men (as far as I know) and I think that's why, after seeing all the other spider-men, he's so hard on Miles for being an anomaly. Miguel was so much different from the other spider-men and ended up destroying a Universe. And now he's projecting that catastrophic self image onto any spider-man that's different from the status quo. It's an unspoken "you're not so different, you and I" situation except it's purely in Miguel's head, bc Miguel doesn't want to admit that he's inherently different, like Miles, so he hyper-focuses on actions and events- which can be controlled and decided upon.
-
On the Cliffhanger:
I loved how they set up this twist though. The double-spiderman problem is something that the second movie brought up on its own. They created a problem based on lore that the audience wouldn't necessarily understand if they were'nt comic readers, (so it actually took me by surprise the same way it took Miles) and that is that there's a specific spider for each spider-man, who only bites one person, only creating one spider-man bc of webs-of-fate goddess or whoever choosing people to bite. So for Mile's world to have already had a spider-man when Miles was bitten, there was a world where the spider wasn't there to create spider-man.
And the movie not only mentions this world as a part of a dialogue tying into the theme of status quo's and supposed-to-be's (the villain trying to prove why his way is the right way), but takes us TO that very world via mechanics (not chance), and then reveals it to the audience using a visual language taught to the audience (glitching) as opposed to words, that is also its own threat (dying). So, Miles was finally away from the threat of the spider society, only to throw himself at a new threat that isn't even the initial threat but directly tied to the story's themes, and having to confront the reality (not just the theory) of Miguel's words with his new resolution of self-determination. Not ONLY that but I loved Uncle Arron, he was someone who inspired our protagonist and comforted him, but he was also a villain who hurt people for money. So it's a bittersweet entrance, when Arron walks in. We see Miles get to hug him, but at the same time, we know that Arron was dangerous and the movie frames him walking into the house as a dangerous event. There's just so much to this twist to love.
-
On Spot:
I love that they progressively make Spot's body shape more and more iconic with the shoulder tilt and the apple body-type taper. At first, especially bc of his amature, akward demeanor (He moves like he just stepped of a cold shower, c'mon) I was really put off like, not looking forward to seeing akward floor rolling and stumbling between this guy and Miles.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He did not look like a threat with those arms dude. And u'know maybe that was on purpose! It does, actually. Miles literally laughs at him, fighting him while texting.
But they really turned it into a look, and I appreciate that. That's good shit dude, like, it really was just how he strut it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm a fan.
Like, he really snatched that spice.
-
Overall though, I loved how this Movie leans into its theme. It demonstrates the conflict, it demonstrates the mindsets, it makes it's problems and complications realities, not just theories or dialogue. The humor is like- I love it so much.
I HIGHLY recommend checking out Schnee's analysis if you haven't already, if you're into that. I know I'd love to write stories like this.

RANDOM THOUGHTS ON STAR WARS LEGENDS
These are just my opinions your welcome to have different ones
Han and Leia waiting to get married makes total sense! At the end of return of the Jedi the only time they’ve spent as a couple is when their relationship started in ESB and its continuation in ROJ most of which they were in battle. Yes Leia has been thinking about him for about a year now but she hasn’t been able to get closer to him in that time, and for Han it’s like not time has passed at all. Plus there’s still a fucking War going on that they very much are invoked in. Marriage is not on their minds, especially Leia’s. (Plus all the traumatic shit they have to process)
This is a message to both legends and canon LUKE IS GAY come on now 🥲
Mara was cool until she married Luke then the writers kind of screwed up her character
Han’s backstory WTF (it’s so sad but so good)
Can we get more Han and Lando buddy cop adventures?
I FUCKING LOVE CORAN HORN
Okay but those stormtroopers from Choices of One feel like The Bad Batch’s emo cousins
THRAWN IS SUCH A NEAT VILLIAN
I THINK NUSO ESVA IS NONBINARY. WHY? fanart
I think it’s rly funny that C-3PO gets given to Han
I love Anakin so much why did he have to die???? Also please Leia why did you insist on that name. Don’t get me wrong I love it but the pressure you put on this poor child. Han why’d you give in you idiot?
HAN IS SUCH A DAD
WHY ARE THEY LEAVING A DEPRESSED ALCOHOLIC HOME ALONE WITH C3PO AND A LIST OF BARS?????
I feel so bad for Han in courtship of Princess Leia. Should I?
Okay but let’s be clear Leia definitely cheated on Han with Isolder. Idc what she thinks that was, it was cheating.
I see a common theme of Leia being rly untrustworthy of Han until they get married. To like an unhealthy degree. What is this guys? I promise he’s not a bad dude.
remember that time where Luke made a submarine out of a dead creatures stomach skin? Yep I do.
lando’s mining facilities getting destroyed is such a funny gag
Did you notice Isolder’s daughter marries Han and Leia’s son? It’s like poetry it rhymes.
WHY IS BOBA FETT STILL HERE????
I love paradise snare but to me the hutt gambit was a dumbstruck fire
HUGE PET PEVE I HAVE WITH TATOINE GHOST! (Still love the book though) Forgiving and forgetting is not always the answer. Han does not need to forgive the republic. LEIA DOES NOT NEED TO FORGIVE VADER. Nor would Han push her to do so and he certainly would not condone the slaughter of tuskins because “he was a boy with a dead mother”. Well wouldn’t you know Han you’re a boy with a dead mother and you didn’t commit genocide. You have even less reason to forgive Vader than the twins. I block this out it was a bad writing choice.
HAN HAD A CHILD WITH BRIA???? I know when, but WHERE ARE THEY?! google was no help
“Must be nice to have a grandmother” LMAO HAN YOU OKAY BUDDY?
Is it bad of me to say I prefer the og force witches/dathomirians/dathomir/nightsisters to the canon ones?
WHY DOES FORCE LIGHTNIHNG NEVER ACTUALLY DO ANYTHING
LUUKE SKYWALKER? They’re so goated for that. OKAY BUT DID DAVE FILLONI READ THE REBEL FORCE SERIES? BRAINWASHED abducted children with no memory of their lives and family, solely devoted ASSASSINS to an ECCENTRIC IMPERIAL WITH A SUPERIORITY COMPLEX who wants favor with the emperor. And these assassins are called X-1, X-2, X-3, X-4, X-5, X-6, and X-7. This is why it should have been tech.
I thought Chewie’s death was impactful and I didn’t hate it
I like it better that Han and Leia didn’t divorce
I like that Han is a male wife and I love how close his children are to him. It makes sense that Leia would be the working one.
not them have a floor to ceiling length tapestry of Leia in a their house. That would scare the shit out of me at night.
I like that Leia is a senator and not a general. Okay hear me out. Leia is trained in diplomacy as much as she is in combat. She was a senator before she was a rebel. And she has always been very much involved in matters of state and would want to feel like she was actively doing something to keep the republic in check. The rebellion was not just a war to her it was making the Galaxy a better place that doesn’t end when the war for her so the natural next step would be a government position. Granted she still acts as a general if need be and goes far beyond her job description countless times.
THE NEW JEDI ORDER SERIES IS FUCKING CRAZY MAN
Can someone fo a demo of the song C-3Po wrote about Han?

I know you mentioned wanting to talk about damian earlier so what is your ideal direction for damians character? Assume you can retcon out details of Canon events
I think I talked about this a lot on my blog here and there, but Its not like I have ONE very detailed direction for his character and honestly I'm starting to try my hardest to not think about what we could have, because I know it will probably never happen and I would just make myself sad.
As for what I want, it depends if you mean from this point-on or if I could just go back in time to a certain point since Lazarus Planet is still going and I have a feeling it will fuck up do a lot of changes to Damian, so we will have to wait to see what happens. Either ways, I personally just want everything that happened since 2016 to be undone, I don't care how, just erase it all and lets pretend like the last issue of R:SoB was just released and lets start from there.
You know what's funny, even though Damian's fanbase is extremely diverse, almost all of us have been asking for only one of two things for so many years now, which are either A) bring back Maya & Suren and have Damian form a team with them B) have Damian be forever trapped as Jon's partner in a Super Sons comic that doesn't end (which I’m obviously not here for.)
That's it, there are really no huge amount of Damian's fans who are asking for anything else, yet DC keeps doing stories that no asked for that are always forgotten about after they end. Not only have they completely discarded point A, but they actually even have the balls to semi-discard point B, which I’m actually glad about don’t get me wrong, but I’m just surprised considering how feral and loud SS’s fans are, so if THEY can’t have what they want, I’m afraid no Damian’s fan can wish for anything, even though again, we're easy to please and what we want done with his character is clear as the day (we’re are not asking for much either)
Now if I was like the CEO of DC, I will just be an asshole who ignores continuity and have Damian deaged to like maybe 11/12 years old, put him back in his classic costume and have him return to Gotham as its official Robin, who actually has a personal/civilian life and regular interaction with all Batman's related characters (the fact that the last time time he had proper one-on-one interaction with any of the Batgirls was in the 00's decade is ridiculous, especially when one of them is his literal sister)
I would have Talia taking a small amount of members from the LOS who were always more loyal to her goals and means than her father's to form her own small spy organization that focuses on saving the Earth in ways other than killing a lot of people, similar to how Talia destroyed Lex Luthor Crop during her spy era, so maybe we will see her going undercover in corporations that commit a lot of pollution and making them go bankrupt or something similar?
Maya, Suren and Goliath would be living with her, however they wouldn't really be involved in her spy work (except maybe Maya, whose stealth powers can come in handy) instead they, along with Damian who will occasionally leave Gotham to team-up with them, will play a more action-based role.
So it will be 3 books, a Talia's book about her doing spy work, a Damian's book about him being Gotham's Robin and a team-up book with him and his friends going on adventures, which I have plenty of ideas for.
From expanding on Maya's backstory and doing something with the plot-line about her mother that Gleason didn't get to write, to a story about the Darga tribe who have been teased for a while now without anything coming from it and their connection/rivalry to the Al Ghul family (maybe even have a story about Suren betraying his friends for his family before double crossing them and declaring his friends to be his real new family) and the Year of Blood's storyline is a treasure trove that can be used as basis for newer stories. For instance, a lot of the artifacts that Damian stole seem to have some kind of power/magical properties to them, so I wouldn't mind seeing a story about a villain getting their hands on them to use them for evil and our team retrieving those items from them.
And I love the character of Ruh, if they don't plan on reviving Ra's, I wouldn't mind her leading the rest of the League that Talia didn't take (lets be real, DC will never fully disband the League) and maybe Talia + the kids will act as a throne in her throat by always beating her to any newly discovered Lazarus Pit and destroying it before her League reach them (I feel like I would be able to come up with more stories after LP ends)
I have so many ideas in my brain its ridiculous, but like I said at the beginning, I know none of them would ever happen, since all of them require Talia and Damian to not be demonized and to be written as main-characters, which 90% of DC's writers are not interested in doing, so it would be better to just forget about them.

Books I Read in 2024 #4: The King In Yellow (Robert W. Chambers, Warbler Classics (originally F. Tennyson Neely), 1895)
Tumblr media
The King In Yellow is a series of nine short stories and poems, linked primarily by the narrative device of The King In Yellow, a play and general text in the world of the story that is associated with madness and the forbidden.
It's fun to return to older modes of writing from time to time, especially the established classics. I've known about The King In Yellow for a fairly long time at this point as a touchstone of cosmic horror and an influence on H.P. Lovecraft, along with about a billion other people working in the horror space since the 1890s. My personal first experience with stories influenced by it is SCP-701, The Hanged King's Tragedy, which is an SCP object that manifests in the form of a Carolinean era English play that is associated with madness, suicide of its participants and the manifestation of a mysterious figure at productions of said play. It's a pretty direct reference point, but I did fall in love with the idea of a play founded on madness.
You see it referenced all over the place; Hastur (sometimes a place, sometimes a person), lost Carcosa, the Hyades, though these are actually borrowed from the stories An Inhabitant of Carcosa and Haita the Shepherd by Ambrose Bierce (but not linked directly, as the only thematic link is that the Carcosa of Bierce is that the city is a long-lost and destroyed city of antiquity), or most prominently after the King In Yellow's publishing, the Yellow Sign.
The fascinating thing to me is how broad the stories of The King in Yellow are. There are nine stories in The King In Yellow, but only 5 (or perhaps 6, if you consider the 6th story, The Street of the Four Winds, to be supernatural; it's mostly just eerie and affecting, to me) of them have clear or obvious influence of the supernatural. The final three stories of the book are simple romance narratives set against the backdrop of contemporary or recent (at the time) Paris and the French art industry, something Robert Chambers had long personal experience with as an American studying abroad in Parisian art schools in the years before.
This is the first novel in this list that I've gone back to read historiography about after finishing. Part of that is that there is not a great deal of reporting around modern novelists and their legacies for obvious reasons, but part of it is that this book was truly a baffling read for the final three stories.
I don't say this as a criticism, but it replicated a feeling I get reading some fandom zines of the last few years, especially ones that include fiction. There is sometimes a breakdown that happens in a themed project where one author or artist doesn't seem to be on the same page as the rest of the team on what is supposed to go in the zine, but was nevertheless accepted. It's just funny to read stories like the first couple, stories of madness and loss, and then have a Parisian story of romance in the city of lights amidst a siege or art-school intrigue.
Robert Chambers' work is extremely evocative in its work about place and dress, giving a great deal of attention to mood and scene. His dialogue is very much of it's era, sometimes sharply funny, sometimes eluding me until I've repeated it two or three times to myself to find the cadence of what it was attempting to convey. It's far from unreadable, and even when it dragged the most I kept myself in the game by the strength of his imagery, and it felt surprising to me to see critiques of Robert Chamber's work from his contemporaries.
H.P. Lovecraft was undoubtedly influenced by his work, but also described his work as such:
Chambers is like Rupert Hughes and a few other fallen Titans – equipped with the right brains and education but wholly out of the habit of using them.
It feels a bit mean, but it's definitely not wrong. I think the grandest part of this novel is its legacy and the elision of detail for its major thematic work, allowing a great deal of expansion for the myth over the century since its published debut. The King in Yellow can be many things; it's been the subject of podcasts, stories and movies and television all drawing upon its influence to greater and lesser extents.

I’m actually really tired of most AU’s in certain niche’s rn on Ao3
Just like, super tired of specifically the “Jaded Protagonist” trope.
You see it in every single Deku travels through time (or in every time travel AU period)
You see it a good deal of Varian in/during Season 2 AU’s
You see it in most Tommy SBI found family books.
The Jaded Protagonist has just gotten too edgy to me. When every time the character is just biting the heads off everyone else and striking out on their own despite everyone trying to understand and help them, who ch tends to be most of the drama and often leads to OP characters (Especially with Deku) its just not enjoyable to read for me. I understand that this might just not be for me and other people may enjoy these more serious characterisations but it just makes the book feel more bogged down and hard to get through, as the sheer amount of miscommunication these jaded characters bring is the main driver of conflict
I am especially talking about the countless Jaded Izuku fics.
Miscommunication in general has just become so overused and stale to me that it makes a boring plot. X character keeps saying ominous things like “You couldn’t change anything anyway even if you did know so I won’t tell you,” and then we find out that if the characters did know then they absolutely could have helped. It makes me mad at the characters for their decisions and a bit mad at the writer for choosing this of all things as their main plot drivers.
I want more X character time travels to the past but instead of being an edgelord they are a dork who keeps forgetting key details not for plot reasons but because they aren’t relevant in their time and it stresses everyone out.
For example:
Adult Izuku (ArsenAll) on the bus ride to the summer training camp with class 1-A just chilling and chatting happily with the Dekusquad about funny little anecdotes when he mentions Yuga doing an underground mission and suddenly startles so badly from his seat he nearly falls out but Uraraka catches him. The entire bus looks at him as he whirls around and starts profusely apologising to Yuga. No one can tell what exactly he’s apologising for but Yuga is getting steadily more pale.
“Yuga I am SO sorry I completely forgot about the whole- y’know THE THING I mean it really hasn’t come up or been relevant since like- first year but that’s really no excuse and you’ve probably been super stressed about it and I haven’t even mentioned it or thought about it and I can’t even really fix it rn cause it’s a pretty private matter and I don’t really want to share personal details with everyone but you kinda really need to know and argh I am Super Duper Sorry!”
Just like, funny stuff like that instead of angsty going of on his own and destroying every threat with zero help. Enough of the Jaded Protagonsit, bring some light into this dark and dreary atmosphere and environment. We should aim to make our readers laugh not groan in agony from our characters emo attitudes.

Kakashi’s Story- Chapter One
Nanara acting like his first impression of Kakashi is that he’s a ‘sloppy man’ when he JUST called him handsome. Boy you’re just mad you have to study lol
Even worse he thinks Kakashi will be ‘too easy too care off’. Kid’s in for one heck of a surprise and i can’t wait
Kakashi acting like he knows nothing about himself😂😂😂
‘What a waste of a life’ Nanara shhhh it’s ok you’ll take those words back soon enough.
Kakashi doesn’t even waste time calling out the Prime ministers lack of care for Nanara. I love it, destroy that pos.
Prime minister was already a dirt bag but he also locked away the library? Triple dirt bag. Supreme dirt bag!
I love that Kakashi just opens the library without hesitation. Don’t get between him and books, it won’t end well for you lol
Using fire to melt the inside of the keyhole! Especially funny because i remember @wind-becomes-lightning telling me Sasuke thought Kakashi would kick a door in in Sasuke retsudon XD
Rules and regulations are important but they go in the trash if they prevent you from reading. Love this. This is the best boy right here.
Nanara has an opportunity to explore the library and get whatever he wants, and of course he searches for a book about the sixth hokage lol
Kakashi using Nanara’s favorite book to get him excited for learning how to read and write. This man knows how to teach.
Somehow ‘reading would be better than playing outside’ is the perfect Kakashi line.
‘If he’s not going to play with me he’s useless’ LIES
The village aunties are gushing about kakashi and honestly, who can blame them? He is a handsome man.
Nanara stop acting like you didn’t call him handsome yourself XD
Naming a foul Pakkun. Kakashi’s hounds would be so proud but i wonder how Pakkun would feel having a horse named after him lol.
Pakkun shoots beams out of his mouth now? And is huge? These stories are really something lol
Kakashi using wind style to save Nanara from the horse! He has now used 3/5 of the elements and NONE of them are his nature type or the first style he used (lighting and earth). I love the representation of his ability to use all of the elements. It’s perfect!
Kakashi the horse whisperer Ahhhhh
Kakashi always finds trouble when he goes for a walk XD no wonder Shikamaru seemed so stressed in Konohan Shinden when Kakashi was talking about taking walks 😂😂😂
All the women sneaking peaks at Kakashi while cooking. This man just cannot escape people wanting to sneak a peak at him.
Kakashi is so weak for animals and the falcon rubbing its head against him for treats is such a cool mental image!!!
Kakashi getting distracted and forgetting to watch the stuff he’s cooking is such a mood.
Kakashi calling it brave to build a village far away from the rest of the world to avoid war. Does part of him wish Konoha has done that? Does he wonder if maybe he’d never would have had to lose all the people he did if the higher ups in Konoha decided to put their people’s safety first?
Telling Nanara all about shinobi was so cute and showing how a Hokage who wants the best for their people thinks. I love seeing him discuss trading and working together with other villages for mutual benefit. You can see just how he was thinking when he was running Konoha and the ideals he fell back on to do better for his village.
‘During the time of the sixth hokage, the land of fire saw unprecedented economic development and grew rapidly’ this line needs to be stamped everywhere for fandom. I love that Kakashi got to be the peace time Hokage because he was the absolute best option for that. No one else could have grown Konoha in the same way Kakashi did.
I love that we get to see Kakashi in teacher mode. Like the manga skipped over him actually teaching his students a lot and only gave us small glimpses, but seeing how he made learning fun for Nanara is so cute and wholesome and displays just how good of a teacher he really is.
Kakashi telling Nanara about his favorite book and offering to lend it to him when he’s older 😭😭😭😂😂
Aww Nabara is so proud of his big sister 💜💜💜

I re-read my post about chapters 22-30 and I realized that theres so much I just fully forgot to mention, mostly relating to the inner circle so heres a quick summary of my thoughts about each ic member now that Im about halfway through the book and have spent some time with them. To briefly recap my previous thoughts, I think their group dynamic is insanely uncomfortable because of how apparent their hierarchy is and also none of them seem to actually like each other all that much
Amren
I dont dislike her in the sense that I dont dislike her personality or the basic concept of her character, but I do hate that shes in the inner circle at all. Like, whats this eldritch creature trapped in a body thats not her own doing hanging out with all these boring people ass people FOR 500 YEARS dude, if I had to spend 500 years with Rhysand I would destroy the entire night court regardless of whether or not I had Amren-levels of power. Like, why on earth would she be satisfied playing second fiddle to Rhysand and living in an APARTMENT in his stupid °•~City of Starlight~•° when shes supposed to be like a billion years old and a thousand times more powerful than him. I feel like itd be interesting to explore that but I know that we really dont from watching cari can read's summaries, so she just ends up being a character thats supposed to be interesting because shes so mysterious but is actually so shrouded in intrigue that it turns around and she just becomes boring again
Mor
When I first met her I said that something about her bothered me but I couldnt put my finger on what it was, but that I still kinda liked her because she atleast annoyed Rhysand. She really hasnt annoyed Rhys in any way since her and Feyres first meeting so I like her less because of that and also because shes mostly just boring to me at the moment. I think another reason why I dont particularly like her is that she feels so intrinsically tied to the misogyny of this world that just suddenly materialized in this book and its really annoying, I would like to avoid that subplot as much as possible. She basically just exists to give Feyre a female friend at the Night Court and to show her that you can totally girlboss your way out of a misogynistic system! But you cant dismantle the system because uhhhhhhhh. change is like a glacier because its slow
Also, shes obviously meant to parallel Ianthe, like shes supposed to be the better version of her, but I cant even imagine her and Feyre making out sloppy style toxic yuri edition so I cant really see her as any kind of improvement. sorry
Cassian
One of my least favourite character types is Fratbro But You Put Him In A Fantasy Setting so Im not the biggest fan of this guy ngl. The one redeeming quality he has is that hes very obviously crushing on all of his friends bisexual style, especially Rhys and Azriel. Its almost a little sad but mostly its just very funny. Like whyd you wanna take their clothes at the illyrian camps so badly huh? You like seeing pretty boys squirm around naked?
Unfortunately, I know that hes gonna end up with Nesta and that hes not even gonna treat her well, my guy is gonna go from being gay because he likes men to being gay because he hates women and I am not looking forward to it
Speaking of Nessian, a lot of sjm critical anti nessian people say that Nesta and Cassian used to be so good and so genuinely romantic in ACOWAR and that their relationship got completely ruined in ACOSF and. I mean, granted they dont ever talk about Cassian behaviour towards Nesta during the meeting at her house in ACOMAF but I hated the way he was just so angry at her on Feyre's behalf when she wasnt even that mad herself, she just felt weird and bad. Of course, I havent read ACOWAR yet and I might change my mind in the future but right now, I'll just say it doesnt surprise me that Cassian would laugh at Nesta falling down the stairs
Azriel
My favourite guy!!! Out of this bunch I mean. My favourite guy in the entire ACOTAR series is probably Lucien, but if we're just talking about the jokers from the Night Court, then this guy is my favorite
I really wasnt expecting much from him, I thought he would have absolutely no personality from what Ive heard other people say about him, but hes basically exactly what I want in an edgy traumatized shadow boi. Ive talked about this before but I really dislike Rhysand and part of that is that I normally really like the archetype of the tortured edgy love interest with shadow powers but he makes it so goddamn annoying by being so flirty and cocky I just want to see him dead. But Azriel is quiet so he doesnt bothr me and also theres some intrigue about his backstory and the extend of his powes but he feels like a solid enough character that he doesnt become boring to me like Amren
I will say though, theres something particularly uncomfortable about watching anyone from the inner circle interact with him and vice versa, I think its because he seems like he doesnt actually like them more than anything else. Ive said this in a previous post, I think Cassian wants to be in a relationship good friends with him and he seems to think they have some good sunshine guy/grumpy guy banter going on but to me it just seems like Azriel genuinely dislikes him. And then he obviously doesnt trust Amren and I feel like hes in love with Mor and has been for a really long time but doesnt actually like her, I honestly feel like hes just sticking by Rhysand because he feels like he owes him and because it gives him an excuse to be close to his crush
Yknow, that I think about it maybe thats why I like him so much. I dont like the Inner Circle, he doesnt like the Inner Circle, thats a relatable king right there

Round 2 - Resurrect Bracket (Losers Bracket) Side A
Tumblr media
ashes to ashes, dust to dust; in sure and certain hope of the Resurrection to [make it to the finals]
John Gaius art cred @exmakina
Propaganda below ⬇️
Flayn Propaganda
she’s honestly so much more interesting than people give her credit for. like she often gets written off as “funny little girl who likes fish” but like,,, she is so strong?? after you save her in chapter 6 and seteths first instinct is to hide themselves away from the world again and shes like fuck that shit! she has so much more of a connection to humanity than the others of her kind and that shows in her solo ending vs her paired ending w seteth, wherein she emerges from hiding as soon as she can when on her own but she and seteth emerge to a fódlan thats changed a lot technologically, so far far later. and i love her supports with everyone and shes so genuine and sweet and kind. flayns great i love her.
Patron Saint of Fish 🐟
John
book quote from the chapters where he's relating how he got necromantic powers and people freaked out!! this is pre-apocalypse and resurrection so it's implied he took a lot of inspiration from this incident . He said, Then we took off. Thread after thread on message board after message board. People wanting proof. People asking what the fuck it meant. People talking about the LUCIFER telescope and saying we were aliens. People calling me the Antichrist, which was a trip. People writing up these long posts on how the trick was done, how I got the meat into the pie. Was I fake? Was I real? If I was real, what did it mean? Suddenly there were hundreds of people, all there at our front door. They came in caravans, they were sleeping in their cars or putting up tents. A hell of a lot of them had flown out internationally. He said, Some of them wanted to see the miracle. Some of them wanted my help, like, Oh, you’re the magical death man, can you do something about my body? Can you fix my fibromyalgia? Thing was, I could. That surprised me. I could take out their tumours. I could fix their macular degeneration. Big damage was easy, unless they’d actually lost the limb or whatever. Couldn’t grow those back. But I spent hours and hours a day playing Jesus. That was nice, those were some of the nicest hours I got to spend. He said, But when you’re doing the whole Go, my child, your knee cartilage is fixed, you’re going to get a lot of visitors. I had to turn people away because I had to eat, I had to sleep, even though I didn’t want to. M— had brought in her best friend, the nun, and I was worried I was going to get the Antichrist bit from her too, but she was just like: stop doing this! Read your Bible! This was Christ’s whole problem! I was like, What are you talking about, Jesus cured the lepers and everyone was all, Hooray, thanks man. M—’s nun was all, Are you kidding, Christ never said no and never asked anyone to pay and got way too much attention and brought the heat down on everybody. Christ didn’t keep to office hours, she said. Don’t do that. He said, So we limited Jesus stuff to one hour a day, and I always had to eat breakfast. But by then the whole world was on our doorstep.
look this is kind of weird but he is the only survivor after nuclear bombs destroy the earth and he has weird necromancy powers so he revives his friends and a few other people to be his subjects and basically makes himself a god to them. there's a lot of layers since he's literally the only character in the entire series who remembers the world before and has a concept of the religion he's copying for his own. he treats the other characters like toys he can push around for his own amusement and everything is a joke but he does this world-weary act that somehow gets the reader to kind of feel for him even when he's being atrocious. and he's the only one who remembers memes. which is a torture all of its own.
I said "yes" but to be more clear: he was canonically Catholic when he was still mortal, but that was 10,000 years ago and he kind of killed everybody on the planet. Just slightly. Some of them got better. Now he's the Emperor Undying and his empire is very Catholic-coded.
OP note: I got some replies saying he's not actually canonically catholic and this is "as Catholic" as he gets

@longroadstonowhere:
i don't think ortus knew enough about the creche flu and everything to say anything to gideon about it, and he also seems like the type to go 'well, i have my suspicions, but knowing these things doesn't actually change our lives so why bother telling someone' (basically i think he'd be likely to avoid potential confrontation)
Oh, yeah, I didn't mean like I thought he felt guilty about not telling Gideon the truth, just that he felt guilty about letting Aiglamene and Crux convince Harrow to run the whole Weekend and Bernie's thing instead of doing something like getting help from another House, or maybe even just telling her that he knew what had happened and offering his help. I'd actually sort of been assuming that it was Harrow's idea in the first place, maybe because of the history given at the beginning of this book where Harrow lists the reasons she didn't want help from another House, but now that Ortus mentioned it, I feel like it's probably more likely that Aiglamene and Crux convinced 10-year-old Harrow of those things rather than Harrow having an opinion on them herself, and I'm guessing Ortus was probably too afraid of them to argue with them on this point
@wandering-minx:
There is a line in GTN where Harrow says "the ninth house is me" to Gideon implying her duty is to Harrow. So I read this line as Harrow's way of saying Gideon was loyal to her in a round about way that wouldn't invite delving into their relationship.
"You are sworn to the ninth house and the ninth house IS me" *
Oh, yeah, that could very well be it. That's kind of funny, if so, though, because then when she says that everything she did was for the Ninth it means something very different than when she says that everything Gideon did was for the Ninth
@wellhappybirthdaytomeiguess:
Pretty sure Colum never came back. The thing that was Colum was still all mouths for eyes when its neck was snapped. Abigal gets to a big question that hangs over these books: where is everyone else, since John obviously didn’t resurrect more than maybe a few million souls. Could something be getting ‘backed up’? Looking forward to seeing how this is explored…
@illfuckthefuckoutofyou:
Colum very likely had his soul completely destroyed. He's not in the River, and he either no longer exists, it's stuck in some other liminal dimension, or is in Hell.
I'm referring to this part:
Tumblr media
It seems to indicate that he returned to his body and died there. But if he didn't return, I don't think there's any reason to believe his soul was destroyed, it's probably still in whatever place it went to when Mayonnaise Uncle siphoned him, which I think is likely not the River, but in this universe souls don't get destroyed just because they don't have a body to return to, and anyway, Colum's body was in no worse shape than, say, Magnus and Abigail's, and their souls are perfectly fine. And if Hell is at the bottom of the River, and Colum's soul never went to the River in the first place, I don't think it's possible for him to be there, either
Do we have any kind of accounting of how many souls are in the River, versus how many people have died in this universe? I would think that the number of people who died before the Resurrection and were never resurrected would probably be dwarfed by the number of people who have lived and died in the 10,000 years between the Resurrection and the start of the story, no? 10,000 years is a long time
