HI RAINN i've been dying to talk about this bit of u21 for EVER thank you for giving me the opportunity LMAO

He raises his bow to the violin and jerks it sharply over the G string, once, twice, three times. The sound falls flat slightly, jarring, and Rin reaches up to turn the peg in one smooth, practiced motion. He draws the bow up again once he’s deemed the tuning sufficient, and slices it back down, knife to neck, and the G note rings out, clear as a blood splatter on powder snow. He moves through them, string by string, cut by cut, until his violin sits perfectly tuned in his palm, strung up tight like a crime scene.  The metronome beats on through it all, incessant and unending, palpable like a heartbeat. His wrist does not shake, nor does it lock up the first time he raises the bow to rest against the bridge. The strings press into his fingers as he takes up the starting chord, tiny blades carving papercuts ad infinitum. Penderecki screams at him from the stand, insistent, so he bites down the hesitance his brother would chalk up to not being good enough, adjusts his grip, and begins his own vivisection.  He plays like it’s a marathon, hardly allowing himself time to breathe. Rin flays himself, peels his skin to strips with horsehair and lays it out on the table, each sheet of music a layer of the epidermis picked off and discarded. The voice of the singer next door ebbs and flows as the tide of his focus pushes and recedes – he catches snippets of a song when he pauses to pour water down his throat, parched dry, takes in stray scales sung as he wipes the sweat from his palms so they don’t slip on the bow. Rin whittles down the hours, sun sinking like a rock, accompanied by matching symphonies that suffuse through the panels of soundproofing.

so i think my main priority during this section was forming rin's opinion on violin in isolation. so far in the fic every mention of the violin and music and general has been at least SOMEWHAT connected to sae, and that tends to mean that rin's feelings about his big brother bleed into his feelings on their shared craft, which alters its portrayal pretty significantly.

you see earlier in the fic rin's got a pretty like. i guess motivated outlook on the violin. he wants to get better (for sae) he wants to get into music school (like sae) he wants to become the best (so he can catch up to sae). his relationship with his brother overshadows his relationship with his violin completely.

but the thing is that rin hasn't seen sae in four years. the important thing is at this point in the fic is that rin has changed massively while sae has been away, and sae hasn't been there to see it. there's no sae at the moment to influence the way that rin sees his violin and what he does. and while perhaps when he's going about his daily life, eating, sleeping, etc., he still has that connection with sae, but when he's by himself in his practice room that's not quite silent, it's just him and his instrument really.

at this point we don't really know how rin feels about the violin outside of sae, so i wanted this scene to be a window into that -- into the rin without sae, when he's alone. and obviously it's rin and so he feels everything very intensely and very gruesomely, so i tried really hard to sew in a lot more of the visceral imagery here.

it's here where i want the reader to realise for the first time that rin's relationship with the violin (and with himself, obviously, but that's discussed a bit earlier) isn't quite what it seems and that his motivations aren't exactly a cut-and-dry "i want to be the best in the world with sae" like we thought they were.

that's to be honest the entire point of u21; at its root it's a character study of rin. even if i've modified the circumstances and his characterisation slightly, it's still the same rin itoshi as in canon. so really this scene is a reflection of what i think of the canon rin's feelings on football and on his brother, and as we'll see much later in the fic, the effect that isagi has on that.

so yeah while i was writing this i wanted to include a lot more of the more confronting, gory imagery. this scene in particular is really important to me just because of how MUCH it says about rin. i think it's lowkey kinda beautiful, in a gruesome way.

Changing Channels analysis (cause this episode is so good!)

Let's first talk about Dean and how he relates to TV — and how that also relates to his sexuality!

Near the beginning we see Dean, mouth open, straight on staring at a dramatic medical show. From a character analysis, we see a couple things. Television has shaped so much of Dean's life and how he relates to it and uses it to relate to other people.

Dean uses these tv references to relate to others. But sometimes he tries to hide his viewing habits. During this scene, Dean tries to play off watching the show as a fluke, but even before the facade is lifted later on, he mentions: "I think it's based on a book," this tells us that Dean knows more about this show than he's letting on.

Later on, when Dr. Sexy makes his appearance, Dean is starstruck: blushing, first afraid to look him in the eye. He doesn't seem as fixated on the female doctor, the one notably in the elevator in the first scene. In fact, that character is obsessed with Sam.

It is Dr. Sexy Dean is obsessed with, the one where Dean can't put up the facade, who looks down blushing and sees that his shoes are not his usual sexy cowboy boots. For many people, this is one of the loudest Dean being bi episodes.

Moving on to a slightly related note: Cas

This episode is only a few after Free To Be You and Me and The End. If we take into account Dean and Cas' friendship by the time CC aired, Dean and Cas have become better friends. They worked a case together spending a lot of time together. Then Dean saw Cas in another world follow him to the end — a su*cide mission. And he realizes not only what Cas would do for him but his feelings about Cas may be deeper than he originally thought.

Throughout this entire episode he worries about Cas. He brings up Cas many times, worried about where he is. (At least 3 times it's brought up) And near the end, when they figure out who the trickster really is, one of the first things Dean does is threaten Gabriel to bring Cas back.

Dean was worried about losing Cas. He had to experience it in The End and I don't think he was ready to lose him again.

During the Japanese game show, the host also calls Cas "pretty boy angel" leading to a series of facial expressions on Dean's face. These expressions can be read as Dean realizing that Cas is pretty. Another example of both Dean's bisexuality and his feelings about Cas. Cas is also part of the reason Dean figures out who the trickster really is.

When Cas comes back for the second time and the trickster shows up, the trickster shows his cards. Cas says "if it is the trickster," then Gabe recognizing Castiel, and being so adamant about the apocalypse, Dean figures it out. I love this moment because sometimes SPN capitalizes on making Dean dumb for laughs, but this is a moment of Dean's brilliance. Also notable is that Gabriel is aware of who Castiel is. Castiel was not a worker bee angel, he led a garrison, he was tasked with getting the righteous man out of Hell. Gabriel and Cas are one of the few angels to fall and choose humanity over angels.

Cinematography

I wouldn't be me if I didn't mention the amazing cinematography that SPN can have. Angel fire shots are always so pretty and can cast a sinister light on the subject. This episode goes from a light-hearted sitcom to once of the biggest reveals of the season.

The light wallpaper and bright lights turn into a dark and dreary wet pipe factory matching the tones of the reveal. Sam and Dean were not aware of their roles in the apocalypse fully until this episode. They knew that Dean started the seals and Sam releasing Lucifer, but not about being vessels. Out of a sense of guilt and duty, the boys are trying to stop the apocalypse in their own way. But now they have this heavy weight on them, not only are they vessels but their fate is for one of them to kill the other. Even with this knowledge, Dean says no, they won't kill each other. Their siblingship is strong here even after the short break up of a few episodes here.

While CC starts off as a fun romp, when we look deeper, it is full of great character analysis of the TFW. I love it.

Richter Belmont and Maria Renard, the Duo Protagonists of The Rondo of Blood.

Even with the bigger cast of characters for The Rondo of Blood, it's best that I should narrow the focus of the first few arcs down to the main protagonists of the story, namely Richter, Maria, and later Annette.

I personally loathed the way Nocturne portrayed Maria as this foul-mouthed, sarcastic revolutionary instead of the lovely, purehearted character whose compassion and unwavering hopefulness is what compelled her to face such harrowing dangers that even Dracula found endearing. So I took influence from that and being 12 years old in the game, she undergoes a certain character arc where her worldview is tested by the obstacles she meets like Shaft, the Revolution, and her own developing abilities, forcing her to grow and mature as both a child and as a magician.

Richter, on the other hand, is leagues different from his portrayal in Nocturne (which I equally despised for how badly-written and inconsistent it was). Even though he still faces a great tragedy back in 1783 (this time it's his father, Reinhardt Schneider, a distant descendant of Trevor Belmont, who dies at the hands of Eztli/formerly N!Olrox), Richter developed a sense of guilt that further boiled into anger and would be the driving force behind his desire to be stronger, in hopes of protecting his mother (now named Sonja Belmont) from a similar fate.

Richter also recovered his magic earlier in the year 1789, the same year he met the young alchemist Annette de Winter and Sonja being killed by the same vampire behind his father's murder, further fueling his thirst for vengeance. Annette becomes his close friend and companion as they survived the horrors that came with the outbreak of the revolution, with their bond growing stronger over their shared grief as Annette also lost her mother Iris earlier that year. Under Juste's tutelage, Richter had grown accustomed to his magical abilities and strives to do his parents justice by saving innocent lives from the forces of evil and hunting down the vampire Eztli.

The main storyline begins in 1792 just as the two first met in Boston with Maria having escaped the chaos in France, being forced to leave Annette behind which weighed heavily on her conscience. This would give me the opportunity to build up their dynamic a lot more than Nocturne, forming a makeshift siblingship bond during the little time they had in Boston. Bound by their shared love for Annette (being Maria's adoptive older sister and guardian), the duo leave the comforts of America behind and return to France to save their lost friend from a rising threat across the sea.

Hiiiiiii again! They are amazing artists too! Like I said, there are so many incredible dedicated Elucien artists in the fandom.

I would looooove to see more of the Elain and Eris relationship! As half of an older brother-younger sister duo myself, I wanna see just how chaotic they can be! I imagine Eris would be a little wary of Elain at first, but then very quickly they’re both trolling Lucien😂😂😂😂😂

I would also love to see more of the Elain and Lady of Autumn relationship! I have a headcanon that the LOA wanted a daughter which was a huge reason why she agreed to keep having children so Elain will be like the daughter she never had!

And of course I know Elain will get along swimmingly with the BoE! Of all the siblings, Elain was the most attached to her human life, so it’ll be nice to show her that she doesn’t have to give up the human side of her entirely.

And of COURSE I want Lucien and Eris to make up and be bros again because they’re two of my favorite characters in this whole damn series!

I think I’m one of the only people who thinks Lucien won’t immediately warm up to Helion haha but I really feel like that will be very raw and new for both of them: Lucien learning how to interact with a father who doesn’t abuse him and Helion learning how to be a father, especially to someone who is already grown.

Although I don’t think Nuala and Cerridwen will be part of Elain’s found family, I think it would be nice if they left the Night Court along with her and found purpose elsewhere, because it really doesn’t feel like they’re respected in the Night Court. I mean, they were UTM and unprotected unlike the rest of his court.

But of course I’m most excited for the Elain-Eris siblingship!

uhhhmm not really ? I haven’t seen many ship ideas for him I enjoy and truthfully he doesn’t interact with many characters to make me think he’d have an interesting dynamic with them. For a second Rain/Smoke crossed my mind cause I had thought of a dynamic for them I was interested in but it didn’t go anywhere. I’m super open to ships for him tho!!

I enjoy seeing Rain in other types of relationships that aren’t romantic. Like his siblingship with Kitana and Mileena and his strong relationship with his mom I think he has! I think Rains mom shaped who he is and he’s very thankful for her, she’s possibly the only person he’s humble around.

I finished Turnabout Revolution finally! It was so good! Honestly, no matter which game or writer it is, they know how to make a good finale. Overall I’m happy for Apollo’s growth, and Rayfa’s too! I was also cheering when Nahyuta finally got the courage to stand up for himself. I’m still sad about Dhurke (I probably will be for a while) but at the same time I know he’s watching over his loved ones from the Twilight realm. At least Nahyuta and Apollo still have Datz. And then Datz has Beh’leeb’s child to dote over. Really, things end on such a good note for (mostly) everyone!

Overall I’m glad I picked up SoJ. It was a wonderful experience. ✨

6-5 is really such a special case because it's so exhausting LOL the latter part of the second trial is a total blur to me, because i remember they fuckingnfndflngd put a gun to yuty's head and SHOT AMARAAA and i just lose it. it's such a crazy rollercoaster. and i love it <3

also it's so important to me that they showed datz hanging out with beh'leeb and faitah. actually. it's kind of insane. it makes him look like a widow-poacher or something LOL but i know the truth... the truth is that datz is a serial uncle and needs to help raise kids or he'll die!!! (my delusional belief is that they showed this specifically as a hint that "this is a pattern of behavior for datz" as in "this is what he did when dhurke thought he lost amara". surely they didn't mean it this way. they definitely just put the two defiant dragons together. but. i want to believe 👽)

The main topic of knight terrors is the deepest terror of the character, such as batgirl is too reliant on computer, scarecrow is everything.

As a resident scare expert, scarecrow said, "I think it's your fears we should be scared of, nightwing."

so, what's nightwing's biggest fear?

Base on the scarecrow and oracle, insomnia turns people to their special variant and what they fear most.

Nightwing didnt finish his transforment in the story, but base on his hands and arms, it seems to be a creature like a bird.

a blue bird, horror version of course.

in western culture, blue bird means hope. and in other cultures, beside hope, bird also mean power, and freedom. if we take the first statement, nightwing means hope, power and freedom. if we take the second, he afraid to it.

why does nightwing fear to hope?

there is a communicate between nightwing with robin (damian) in nightwing vol. 4 #20

"when your dad came back, there was a moment I thought it would be better for you if you stayed with me."

"but then i thought i was too young. too untethered. i thought i might not be able to handle the responsibility."

he afraids of the responsibility which comes from when he was called to be the hope.

a blue bird borns to be hope, no need and cant forced to.

though dick did a really good job when bruce out, during bruce back, he is the son again. he is still the little bird enjoys soaring free most.

cause of his really great jobs with titans, in bludheaven, sometimes in gotham, and siblingship with other batfamily, people easy to forget he is also a son.

he is the eldest, he becomes a superhero just like bruce, but he is still a son.

when he is free, he is the hope of the family, when he takes responsibility, he is the batman.

he is the hope, but you cant tell him TO BE the hope. that's still too heavy to him.

this is never a shame to a kid just want to be a kid when their parents is there. it just proves how much love that the kid was given from his man, and also an evidence shows he is really see bruce as his father, a figure that can rely on, and learn from.

then, why scarecrow said they should be scared of nightwing's fear?

in the very beginning of the story, nightiwng lose his memory, and insomnia tried to bring it back to make him weak. however even nightwing remembers what happen, his first reaction was finding a way out to make sure what actually happen but to accept. he even can care what happen to batgirl. just like the TRUTH didnt bother him at all.

insomnia's power didnt work on him like the others.

cause of failure, insomnia tried harder, which make the situation also. and insomnia's failure also mean nightwing's fear is an unknown.

nothing horrible than an unknown (actually, he does fear, he just knows how to handle them so well)

During nightwing's transforment, Insomnia tried five things to stimulate him.

one, killing batman, cause of too shock, nightwing lost the memory

two, john and mary.

I dont think batgirl is one of them, they more like trap in the same dream or space, such as stephanie and cassandra.

so, why does nightwing want to kill batman?

I think it is the visualize of his anger about bruce. in his subconscious, he afraids one day he will lose control.

Father and son issue is a canon topic in whatever creation.

the first one is the hardest.

and adoptive ever makes this more complicated.

Dick is bruce's first son, first partner, tons of things that even the world's greatest detective can find the correct answers, further may be there is no correct answer actullty.

Bruce is dick's second father, there is also alfred, before being part of wayne family, dick already knew whats a good father should be, and there must be sometimes he compared john with bruce, even he never told bruce or alfred face to face.

in nightwing #89, bruce admitted to clark, "i ve made so many mistakes with dick and look how he turned out."

In Nightwing #100, nightwing showed his understanding to bruce.

I'm glad that Strix and Zohar reunited, but I do feel a bit unsatisfied. Strix has been searching for so long, but we didn't even see Zohar onscreen or hear her say a single line of dialogue. Kind of a fail to have a character's whole goal to be searching for another character, and when they're found you don't even show them to the audience...?

It feels like Strix's feelings about Zohar ended up playing second fiddle to her feelings about Byakuya. And I was moved by her relationship with Byakuya, for sure. I like that she considers Byakuya to be her little brother, and she wants him to stick around.

But idk... Zohar was basically everything to her.

And Strix is still calling herself Tsukuyomi... I think it would have been nice if she didn't do that. Continuing to call herself that makes it seem like their siblingship is still an imitation, rather than a new relationship she and Byakuya are building for themselves.

But is this a good ending for Byakuya? I think so...? He did something self-sacrificial again, which he always did. That's how he viewed his relationship with Tsukuyomi, and then how he viewed it with Strix. But Strix doesn't want him around just to fight people for her anymore. Maybe when she finds him, he will be able to develop more of his own identity.

2. Favorite canon thing about this character?

His big boobs and big booty and big brown bambi eyes

Just kidding, just kidding lol (Unless...?)

I mean, I love everything about him but mostly I love how badly he wants to be good. He wants peace, he wants goodness in this world, he wants everyone to be friends with each other, all the while he's a walking nuclear weapon. He could destroy half a village all by himself, he could force peace upon the people in a far more effective manner than Madara tried to do but that's not what he wants. He wants to be good and he goes out of his way to be that!

But at the same time he's a man of his time, he's a man raised in war times and no matter how badly he wants peace, even he can't imagine a world where there's no war no death no violence. All he dreams of is a place where children are safe until they're ready to take on missions, not a place where children don't go to missions at all. Because even Hashirama, as much as he wishes for peace, can't think of something like that.

Not to mention his sheer power. He isn't a walking nuclear weapon by happenstance - sure, the Mokuton and the massive chakra reserves are genetic but the rest? The rest is trained. And one does not train to become a destructive force if one doesn't plan to use such force if necessary.

He wants peace and he wants it by doing good but if he truly has to kill to achieve that? Then he will, as evidenced by the fact that in the end he did kill Madara, his best friend, his "gift from the divine", his brother in all but blood.

Maybe if Hashirama had been born at a different time, he could've dreamt bigger, dreamt of actual world peace and possibly even achieved that. But as it is? As it is he tried for the best he could imagine and while that's not the ideal, it's still better than the status quo, and I love that about him.

19. How about a relationship they have in canon that you don't like?

None? I love his relationship with Mito, I love his friendship with Madara including that it was doomed from the start and Hashirama couldn't do anything about that, I love his siblingship with Tobirama and how he cares about him while they both don't shy away from calling each other out when the other is being an idiot/asshole, I love how he was a spoiling grandfather with Tsunade, I love that according to the data books Touka is one of his closest friends...

I don't even dislike his relationship with Butsuma because it's thematically well-written and it's what made him into the man he is - had Butsuma not been such a hardass with him, Hashirama wouldn't've rebelled so strongly against him and fought to become the opposite (while still being so eerie similar to Butsuma, just with different goals).

I don't like that Mito isn't mentioned even once in the flashback and that we have no canon HashiMito moments, if that counts. I also don't like that Tsunade and Hashirama don't meet during the 4th war, fuck you Kishimoto >:(

And I wish Tobirama and Hashirama were closer, too. They're two such different people with such differing world views and have such a hard time understanding the other, and maybe if either Kawarama or Itama had survived they never would've gotten close at all, but the point is that they are each other's last sibling, they're all they have left, and that's what makes it so juicy! They should be close out of principle, no matter how badly they understand each other! And Kishi missed the mark with that one, unfortunately...

OMG 🥺 TYSMMM He’s my pride and joy and I love him so so much!!! I have sm I still wanna do with him and I'm so so excited for KHML to get him back into the action! 🫶 Unfortunately that also means he will, on some level, being Going Thru It but that's a small price to pay for more content of my boy <3 <3 <3

I hope u dont mind me taking this moment to ramble abt his general deal and vibe bc I feel like my thoughts are all scattered throughout my art with him 😭🙏 Will add a cut and reading past is ofc optional but TYSM for the interest in general! His design is so fun to doodle and he’s got a whole Dreamhouse Closet of fits 👍

But!! Basically in UX my boy joined Vulpes and got his keyblade on his bday, Dec. 25th when he turned 13-14 or so :] he started out on his own and was pretty quiet but very compassionate which paid off in the long run and got him some good friends (both in the form of Ephemer and co. and then with my friends' keykids Vivian and Vial--highly rec checking out their art too btw !!! @thequibblingking13 and @thatalien404 I love Vial and Vivi so so much as well 🥺)

As he pulled in these new friendships (and in the case of Vivi and Vial, practically family/siblingship) Alvi ends up having that compassion fuel him to become more skilled with his keyblade, learn more about how to best guilt and use medals, the best ways to Raid, etc. in order to be able to both protect/keep the people he loves safe as well as to be a teacher. He loved exploring new worlds and helping people in general and I think would end up being the kinda general Big Brother FigureTM who other kids could run to with questions--especially as he got into his later teens.

He ends up learning quite fast and scaling up pretty exponentially compared to some of his peers and, in general, ends up fairly competitive with the weekly rankings and PVP (friendly still, but ready to give it his all) and with that, he ends up taking that protector role more seriously as he becomes more competent. By the time the War really comes around when he's like 15-16, he ends up sticking around to fight in the hopes of shouldering as much weight as he can in the place of others, as well as wanting to shield Vivi and Vial as best as he can.

Though things definitely do get murkier as he gets stronger. I think that he'd always been a bit more open/neutral to darkness as a concept. He knows it can corrupt but would use it in small increments, however those would become larger and be used more often as time passed in trade for more strength--more capability. It would culminate at it's most out of control/chaotic when fighting with the Foretellers (shoutout to Ira who reflected every light attack BTW. like okay bro. u asked for this ig 😐) where he'd really just let loose and give it all, though it'd leave him weak and also pretty freaked out. Plus the whole almost dying thing definitely adds to that 😭 so he'd rein things in dramatically after waking up from the war.

As for the amnesia about the war, things shift a little bit here and I think he'd sorta wake up to reality pretty quick, especially with the nightmares. He loves Chirithy but his was never the best at lying, and despite whatever bumps in the road he and Ephemer had, he doesn't anticipate that he'd ever lie straight to his face. So when he confronts Skuld and Ephemer about it all? Well, they hesitate enough to tell him something's up at the very least--as he suspected. He's sympathetic to his friends' new position as defacto leaders though and, being a pretty natural leader-type himself, knows how precarious of a situation it is regarding information on the war. It's horribly distressing for him to remember everything to say the least, and he figures himself pretty capable of handling it, so the thought of having so many of the other kids remember en masse and just start hurting despite it being over just leaves him feeling sick. He doesn't like lying either though, and it feels wrong to hide such a huge event--which the others sympathize with bc damn they're dealing with that conflict too 😭 But, ultimately, Alvi agrees to remain quiet about the whole ordeal--even to Vivi and Vial whom he shared everything with. Which creates. Problems. 😬

In the weird mundane time they spend in the digital daybreak before things start glitching and life is just continuing "as usual" Alvi ends up inadvertently pulling back from Vivi and Vial (as they can tell something is Up) and gets closer to all of the Union Leaders! I really think he'd get along well and have unique but fun friendships with each and every one of them :> There's already that like Besties Bond with Ephemer and Skuld, but I think he'd really love Ven, Brain, and Lauriam, too. He and Lauriam would be the tallest two of the bunch and I think would lowkey prod each other about it in a mini competition as they both continued growing, he would ADORE Ven and love carrying him on his shoulders and such, and I think would just be chill and funny with Brain. Put them in a room together and the sarcasm level doubles 🤝

When Vivi and Vial finally figure things out abt the War tho, and that Alvi was actively lying to them, ehm... 😬 Things begin going downhill FAST from there. He doesn't really have any good explanation for himself as he just wanted to protect them at his core, but it was still not the best way to probably deal with it. That said though, what's WORSE is how he responds to the question of whether he'd do it again and uh. Well. 🤡🤡🤡

So suffice to say, Vivi and Vial feel pretty damn betrayed and generally angry at him but Alvi has hope they can patch things up and get it all sorted out. But with each attempt to be more transparent about things, Alvi keeps having to clam up because a lot of the stuff he's been doing have been with the Union Leaders and needs to remain kinda lowkey, so he ends up being unable to really tell that much which just comes across as condescending at best for Vivi and Vial. And then the glitches start showing up 🧍‍♂️

Alvi, in the midst of trying to both apologize and explain once more to them both, gets pulled away to go help Ephemer investigate what's going on at the Clocktower. He leaves his little siblings with the promise that, the very moment he comes home, he will tell them everything and share everything about all the worlds he's seen since--just like how things used to be. They have his word! And it's still shaky ground but a potential light at the end of the tunnel! But, well, then he and Ephemer end up in Game Central Station and things get very out of hand very fast. The end of the game unravels faster than they can keep up and the last "interaction" Alvi has with his siblings is Vivi crumbling in her own fight across town as the feeling of Alvi getting that hit to the heart from Ephemer echoes through to her oTL

The end of UX makes me SO. AUGH. I feel like I've already talked a lot but there's just So Much in my head for my poor little guy and MAN. His end would follow the canon ending of the game pretty closely. He'd stick around with Ephemer and Skuld and help see the other Leaders off in the Ark with the intention to go grab Vial and Vivi and get them inside to safety before things go wrong again. One little thing I wanna draw or poke at somehow tho is that like, I think he'd give little mementos/gifts to the others before they send them off in the ARK. To Brain and Lauriam, he'd give them each one of his earrings, Elrena would get his neon bracelets, and Ven would get a moogle chain he always kept on his dufflebag :>

As for the final fight. MANNNN. I think that Alvi would be able to put on a pretty convincing act and, somewhat bitterly, kinda goes down the line of like "Well, I really am a liar lately, so what's one more?" and he'd go all-in to ensure Ephemer was pushed to his limit. WHICH SUCKS AND HURTS MY HEART TO THINK ABOUTTT. But he'd pull it off, and he'd get that shot to the heart, and I think in that fight it's poetic if he was fighting more in a stance like YX than usual. Smth smth foreshadowing also legacy etc. 🫶🫶🫶 He'd go out proud and happy, even if it was immensely bitter knowing the last memories his friends all shared with him.

Suffice to say I have SOOOO many thoughts abt him and I am SO excited for Missing Link to do a round 2 bc I have a rough idea of what I wanna do for his arc/character-wise on his second time around and I am also so hyped to get Brain back 🥺🥺🥺 I think their friendship is going to be so so crucial to Alvi in ML and I cannot WAIT to get into it!!! And OFC THE WHOLE RAISING OF XEHANORT??? MANNNNN. He would love Xehanort with everything he had. It's so bittersweet that he would've passed before Xeha started learning how to do a whole lot with the keyblade and got all manipulated by destiny bc like. Alvi would not be perfect, but he would've loved to train him himself. Which like also ik I'm #Coping and whatever but I'm just gonna say that Alvi, after passing in KHDR, is just chilling in Quadratum bc I'm sorry but he's far too stubborn to die and just leave his son behind so soon 🫶 I only have memes with them so far but I truly believe that Alvi and Xeha have a Like Father Like Son dyanmic thang going on. A long line of guys with something wrong with them 🫶💖

9. Favorite pairing you wrote for this year?

Okay, so romantically speaking, this year I've only posted fics for Melizabeth in different constellations - Elizabeth/Meliodas, Goddess Elizabeth/Meliodas, Elizabeth Liones/Meliodas, and Liz/Meliodas. Out of those four, Goddess Elizabeth/Meliodas was the most fun to write. I just really enjoy exploring that era and that pairing to be honest. I mean, enemies-to-lovers in a holy war whose love story was so revolutionary that the gods decided to kill their own heirs?

Liz/Meliodas takes second place because Liz and the Danafor era deserves some more love - but I've only written one fic with Liz and it wasn't that much focus on her/her relationship with Mel in that one.

But if we're talking pairing as in two people with any kind of relationship (romantic, platonic, whatever) then it's hands down Meliodas & Zeldris. I mean, it's the demon bros, do I need to say more? I am, personally, a huge sucker for siblingship of any kind in media. (Maybe because I have a lot of siblings myself? Maybe because my aroace self feel a bigger connection to those relationships even tho I really enjoy romantic ones too). Plus, there is so much fun dynamics to explore with these two; Mel and Zel's childhood, the betrayal, reconciling after everything, or other stuff completely (<- I'm actually low-key working on an au where Mel and Zel are goddesses and Ellie is a demon and it's been really interesting to figure out the brothers' dynamic without the canon betrayal, also they're twins in that one fyi).

10. What work was the quickest to write?

Ooh now that's an interesting question. Let's see... The fastest ones were probably all written in February to be honest, because that was my most productive writing month (I was also doing Febuwhump which added pressure and motivation to complete the fics quick lol).

There All Along was probably the one I finished the quickest. It was written in February, within a day, and also one of my shortest fics.

My Love, It Burns was probably the quickest longer/multichapter fic I wrote this year. It was written during the end of February, also within a day I think, and, well, inspiration just struck. I had a clear idea of what I wanted to write, and was excited to try writing two different endings to the same fic. (Plus I wanted to write the endings close together so they matched up well).

But also telling how quick a fic is to write is hard lol usually I write down the idea and maybe even make the document but then don't actually work on it until days/weeks/months later...

17. Your favorite character to write this year?

This is actually a difficult question. Because while I do love writing about Meliodas (he's my blorbo, my baby - the only fic out out 25 that he wasn't tagged as a character still had him featured in the background and as a "topic"). But I also feel like I tend to write other characters' pov more than his (possibly because he's mostly the one getting whumped lol). So Meliodas is a character I like to write stories of, but if were talking point of view and all, I liked writing Merlin and what's-his-face... Gavin!

Merlin is actually a character I find hard to write (but hey it can be a fun challenge) but also fun to write. I especially love how she can be like a bridge of knowledge between what the other characters know of Meliodas/demons and the truth (that she knows). Writing from Merlin's pov also allows me to really tap into the age and history of Meliodas and her :)

Gavin (my oc from One Man's Beast, aka the Monster Sins AU) was fun to write because to be honest outsider's pov is really funny when the Seven Deadly Sins are involved (the chaos! lol). Also it allowed me to explore the AU in a better way. (<- speaking of, I'm playing around a bit with the outsider's pov in my next Monster Sins AU fic too, because a part of that one is from Dreyfus and/or Hendy's pov)

oh gosh. top 5 most interesting??? i was rotating this in my mind at work all day and was still struggling. so here's five character interactions in no particular order

i'm always down for dynamics among the "big 4" aka the two younger soukoku generations. dazai chuuya atsushi akutagawa. both in their pairings and among each other--observing the different ways dazai interacts with atsushi vs with akutagawa will always be interesting to me as its a measure of dazai's own growth. i like the respect akutagawa and chuuya have for each other as coworkers and powerful ability users. atsushi and akutagawa......... they. them. those two. there's so much there. i think we're robbed of chuuya and atsushi interactions because there's SOOO many parallels between them that i like to chew on. and of course there's dazai and chuuya. which i have a lot of thoughts on, all the time. but... all four of them together and each respective dynamic is really interesting. the way being powerful ability users all shoved together on the front lines of every major catastrophe of the city messes with them each individually and together is fun.

this one is more recent for me but oda and dazai's friendship is really interesting to me, and the way oda's influence has followed dazai through his life (and multiple timelines). oda has grown on me as a character a lot recently, and i'm usually obsessed with dazai, so its natural for me to gravitate towards interactions between them.

i can't make a post about pairings without discussing rimlaine. rimbaud and verlaine and all their fucking problems. stormbringer is such a book. i could ramble for days about those two and it would never be enough. how rimbaud never stopped trying to understand. how verlaine didn't realize anything until it was too late. they're tragic and make me miserable. i'm obsessed with them.

the ada dynamics in general! i love seeing all of them come from all the wild pasts they do and coming together to be such a powerful group, to the point they can brush the entire mafia aside without much of a struggle. i love them all dearly. especially kunikida. but... all of them, really.

chuuya and his pseudo-siblings! like kouyou. i love their interactions a lot. i also kinda assign him the team older brother. kyoka? she was kouyou's charge. she's chuuya's little sister now. can't get around it. q? weird kid locked up in the dungeons? that's his little sibling. and verlaine goes here too because sure, they don't have an amicable sibling relationship, but they still have some kind of interaction, i believe. all the chuuya siblingships are fun to me.

there's so many more that i find interesting, honestly. like, i know i said the ada in full, but specifically ranpo and fukuzawa will always be fun to look at in their silly little family dynamic. katai hanging out in his futon shouldn't be ignored, someone (kunikida) has to check on him. whatever the hell steinbeck and lovecraft have going on? fascinating. the way dazai and fyodor go back and forth? the dead apple triumvirate?? every dynamic in bsd has its place in my heart honestly this was REALLY difficult to even think of a top 5. so this is more like a top 27 lmao
