summary: when taking a shortcut leads to taking your clothes off in front of sebastian sallow

finding those blasted demiguise statues had to be your least favorite assignment yet. your groundskeeper (who was an alcoholic, by the way) had somehow gotten you to agree to do his personal bidding in exchange for learning how to use alohomora. it had to be some kind of violation, but looking for harmless little statues was much easier than exploring any catacomb or solving any trial of puzzles, so you didn't complain.

on the other hand, it required a lot of walking, and a lot of aimless searching. on this particular search brigade, however, you'd received a tip from a fellow student that lived in north ford bog that a strange glowing artifact was hidden in an abandoned cottage just outside the hamlet. sebastian decided he would come along for the adventure, mostly hoping to find something worth value in the house and to annoy you along the way.

"i think i see a shortcut just there..." you stretched your neck out to see further down the faded and forgotten bath to your right, just hardly noticeable.

"it's not on the map?" sebastian inquired, peering over your shoulder to get a look at the map in your field guide.

"no...let's see what's this way." without waiting for a response, you pushed the heavy brush to the side to allow yourself to be swallowed by the leaves.

"don't just--y/n! wait for me." he followed behind you, trying to dodge the rough branches threatening to whack him in the eye. you ignored him until you reached a clearing, not wanting to linger in the prickliness. you emerged to see a breathtaking view. you had found yourself on a cliff's edge above the quaint lake in the center of the hamlet. the evening moon reflected on the calming ripples in the water, lighting up the clearing with a haunting blueish glow.

sebastian soon emerged from the brush as well, sputtering a leaf out of his mouth. you didn’t notice, still captivated by the view. he straightened himself and his robes and finally joined you near the edge of the cliff.

“it’s beautiful, isnt it?” he turned to gaze at you, your eyes practically sparkling from reflection in the water. he couldn’t help but notice how your plush lips glistened from your homemade dittany lip oil. he smiled as it reminded him of how much he adored your femininity. you could utterly destroy grown men and women with your powerful incantations in one minute, and the next you would be fixing your hair and blotting your nose. you were badass and graceful about it at the same time. it could make sebastian weak in the knees sometimes.

“hm?” you quirked your head to the side at his distant gaze. he seemed to be looking through you with a gentle smile lingering on his lips. he blinked his thoughts away quickly.

“yeah, incredible…” he took his first look out across the water, breathing in the gentle breeze. “hey, i dare you to jump in.” he challenged with a sly smirk. your first instinct was to immediately refuse, thinking about how cold the water would be and how it would soak your best school uniform. but, upon giving yourself a second to ponder it…

“sure.” you shrugged, agreeing in a casual tone. the smile instantly vanished from the boy’s face.

“what? no, i don’t think you should actually—“

“you’re jumping with me, though.” his throat nearly closed up at the sight of your hands reaching up to unclasp the first button on your vest. he was stammering to find the right words as your vest fell to the forest floor.

“i actually don’t know how deep that lake is—“ you stepped forward to peer over the edge of the landing, inspecting the water. you turned back to him and shrugged once more.

“looks deep enough to me.” you smiled reassuringly at him, but it made him even more nervous. you placed a hand on his shoulder for support as you removed your kitten heels. he felt like his entire body was buzzing.

“okay, but you have to think about the rocks too—“

“sebastian. you know me well enough to know that i never back from a dare. i thought you were too, but it’s okay if you’re afraid.” he realized what you were doing immediately and it was proven by the smug smile on your face. you didn’t avert your eyes from his as you slipped your blouse off of your shoulders, leaving your upper half exposed to the moonlight. sebastian looked like he could explode.

any expression of annoyance or concern left his face as he watched you. he couldn’t find any wordsto say, he just stood frozen before you with an appreciative stare.

“okay, well i’m jumping. it sounds like a rush. bring my robes down for me will you?” he just nodded, holding a stack of your clothes in his arms as you stood before him in only a corset top and an aggravatingly short slip skirt. he was almost salivating at the sight. didn’t shift his gaze as you took a deep breath, centering yourself before sparking at the edge and leaping off with a graceful dive.

sebastian seemed to have come out of his trace as you left his view, blinking his sinful thoughts away. he frantically started on his own clothes, realizing the opportunity in front of him.

down below, your body had broken the waters surface with a grand splash, sending you deep down to the bottom on the lake. however cold you thought the water was, it was ten times worse. but as you emerged again, the wave of shock sent across your skin from such a drastic change slowly subsided. you dipped your head back, allowing your now saturated hair to lay flat behind your face. you rubbed your eyes, still getting your bearings before a loud splash erupted just next to you. you were drenched once again and certainly surprised to see sebastian’s head popping out of the water in front of you.

“i thought i finally found your weakness for a moment, sallow,” you teased him as he wiped the water droplets off of his own face.

“you’ll never know.” his confident smirk returned. it made you notice how prominent his muscular shoulders were just below.

“yeah? why’s that?” your words were innocent but your tone was entirely contradictory.

“you’ll just never guess what it is.” his voice reciprocated the same flirtatious influence, which you took as an invitation to swim closer to him.

“no?” your voice was quiet now, just a few inches away from him. he shook his head.

“are you sure?” your hand slithered up his arm to grasp his strong shoulder. “cause i think i might have an idea.”

it was silent between the two of you as he searched for any reluctance in your eyes and his own mind for a way to top your antics with a bolder gesture. you felt something ignite in your stomach as you saw what he wanted to do in his eyes. before you could react, his hand tangled in your hair at the nape of your neck, pulling you into a passionate, burning kiss. it was like all of the pent-up desire was released between you two at the same time.

from that day forward, sebastian was your favorite exploring partner. partially because he knew the area like the back of his hand, but mostly because you never wanted mischief like this to end.

After reading Lucifers selfie prolog I think he developed an 'eye contact' kink to go along with his dyrcaphilia. Its not often someone holds his gaze. Usually its one of the kings to do it and even then its in an antagonistic context. The dragon is more open than the demons because he isnt burdened by the primal need to Look Away. As a human you fight against your nature to hold his gaze. Defying your god-given instincts just so you can look him in the eyes when you say "hello"

Hi hi! I just had a random thought but wouldnt it be kinda cool if mc had a magikarp? Like they’re the “weakest pokemon” but evolve into an incredibly strong pokemon, idk i think it might be a lil poetic? Obviously being seen as weak as a parallel to mc but showing that change helps you be a version of yourself that you never thought you could be? As far as i can see it, magikarp is the most important pokemon, the most meaningful one, because it shows how change is an amazing thing, and maybe its not as important as people make it out to be. (And it would also be funny to see the Kids’ reaction)

What I Liked

i love the atmosphere of liu yao, the story rly was at its best when its contemplating the nature of the dao, the origin and goal of cultivation, human nature... and how painfully human the main chars are despite going down a path that makes them beyond human

cheng qian!!! tbh the way priest writes him as this unloved middle child w a v middle child syndrome, n how it gives rise to this... almost self-importance and in a way also makes him think he's better than everyone around him? and yet somehow it's endearing instead of annoying and also kind of relatable? he's rly quite a joy to read

yan zhengming... i love how he grew from a spoiled, whiny peacock brat to a... spoiled whiny peacock young man who takes his responsibilities seriously and is unwavering when it comes to his family. its a v interesting contrast how hes strangely easygoing compared to the mc in some ways, e.g. he doesn't hold grudges, how his dao is the way of the sword despite him being...super spoiled n whiny, but his true nature as a reliable, steadfast leader is revealed in moments of need...

i love this family of five /crying theyre so cute n warm!!! in their childhood!! n then shit goes down!!

that said i also like how each action has consequences, n no one rly has "plot armor", how the ending is mostly? happy? with shades of bittersweet?

the side plot of the past between tong ru n han muchun oh my god,,, the parallel in the ending,,, copying my tg texts: in the end tong ru, despite everything hes been through, was content to have disappeared along w han muchun n to him, dying without regrets is "ascension". in parallel w the epilogue where cheng qian n yan zhengming visited the grave n mentioned that its "better to say that they ascended" n also how yan zhengming is cheng qian's "unbreakable tether to this world of red dust" which is... kind of against the principle of the dao? bc the dao is nothingness n one should be able to let go of worldly desires. but then, whats the point of all that if theres nothing waiting for them on the other side, n isnt it better to live one's life to the fullest, being aware of and cherishing the things n people precious in this lifetime? 

honestly theres so much to love abt liu yao

What I Disliked

lowkey the romance didnt fully convince me lmao they had cute interactions n had chemistry but 1. ig im just, a little tired of the "shou seeking death" and "gong chasing after death-seeking shou" tropes, n also 2. the story early on works super well without romance while just focusing on the brotherhood aspects, it rly feels as if liu yao shouldve been a pure nonromance cultivation story… tbh its rly just missing, this little bit more spice… (edit 220323) crossing this out bc while i’m still not v convinced of how the romance started in the early game, the theme of “questioning ascension and the reason behind cultivation” and also “happiness in this lifetime” is v v tied to the romance in the plot, from tong ru n han muchun n now yan zhengming n cheng qian (the yuanxiao extra made me rethink this tbh, then i came to the conclusion that yeah, the romance does make sense even though it’s rly quite rough n not convincing early on) 

liu yao's best points are the more somber, quiet, thoughtful moments, and liu yao's weak points lie in the action... tbh most of the chaotic battle parts just...take me out of the story

hi, two anons!! im glad you guys liked my nxx team polycule stuff!! i'll answer these in one go, my "headcanon" (in quotes because i think this kinda turned into a character analysis/minific of sorts HAHA) being what first anon asked, How They Get Together.

heads up, wc of this is 1.9k words long so buckle up for a bit of a read jfsjdfkjbf

because first anon, youre right!!! the boys are stupendously complicated which i love so so much but canon has also shown us clearly that each of the boys' quirks and habits and tendencies causes a lot of (mostly played for laughs) friction. the bickering, the backhanded insults, the "im the best one here" preening contests. theyre all SOOOO RIDICULOUS and it is hilarious but yep! the boys r complex!! and that means this beautiful ship, imo, has a lot of phases to get to the actual romantic relationship bit.

how they get together, in my opinion, starts because of mc.

not in the sense that she matchmakes them all, but like.

phase 1 of the nxx team polycule is this:

through being in love with her (which we all know the boys 100% are), each of the boys come to terms with their own flaws and weaknesses. it's very apparent to me in all the story thus far that these boys are flawed as hell, it's very compelling but even more compelling to me is how all of them also do intense mental gymnastics to Not Confront Those Flaws. like, marius is a dickbag always teasing and toeing the line of insincerity, vyn is a controlling mf who always tries to sway situations to his benefit, artem is so repressed to the point that he has genuine trouble with emotions, luke is a self sacrificial bastard and also a huge hypocrite about how no, actually, hes the only one that should be hiding his pain and being dishonest, no dishonesty from other people!! in the beginning of the story, all the boys have their flaws and seem to have just kinda...not addressed how those flaws are harming them and the people around them.

and then mc rolls around and they all fall in love with her. and she sees those flaws and she doesnt let them slide. she challenges the boys in her own ways to see another side of the situation, to acknowledge what theyre doing. she doesnt want to get rid of flaws, thats impossible and also not cool. she just has this beautiful hope for like, all of humanity, that goodness can prevail with the right work. so when she sees her beloved nxx boys, she believes that for them as well.

which leads to phase 2 of the nxx team polycule:

the boys, more aware of themselves, become more aware of each other.

they werent Unaware of the others of course. it's just that they didnt like...truly connect on a personal level just yet. they saw the other teammembers with their emotional armor and flaws and saw a wall that wasnt worth looking past.

but after mc makes them realize that hey, flaws arent the end of the world actually, it's alright and the person behind them may just be worth it, the boys like. end up understanding the others. A LOT OF THIS BIT IS UNINTENTIONAL, ON THEIR PARTS KJDSBFS. like they stumble into understanding each other by accident, they didnt plan it, but over the course of nxx investigations, it's inevitable that they end up seeing the depths of the others. i delve into this a little bit in my fanfic "filler eps of the lost gold" where the boys are just going thru their actions and then trip over another boy's fears or desires and through that, gain a deeper understanding mutually.

and with understanding, sometimes, comes trust.

phase 3 of the nxx team polycule goes like this:

everybody in this team, whether they like it or not, whether they know it or not, has a heart that wants to give love so desperately.

marius lives in a world full of snakes so he cant have his heart on his sleeve for his own protection. vyn wants to be seen as perfect and the heart is inherently messy so he holds it back. artem for a very very long time was focused on work and success and achievement that he neglected his heart. and luke has been giving love all his life in a sense but in a way thats hidden.

all these tendencies that are brought upon their life circumstances results in this: they want to love honestly but they havent been able to do this

until mc. and all of them want to push back whatever fears or patterns their life has instilled in them because they see her and see somebody so unwaveringly good that all their hearts begin giving love to her to make her happy and to make themselves happy as well.

but heres the thing. the boys dont just see mc. by this point, they have connected and understood and come to trust each other as well, and the consequence of that is that They Can See Each Other Now Too, Truly.

and heres the thing. all of the boys are unwaveringly good as well.

one by one, each of the boys realize that what they feel for the other boys in the team starts to...change. yeah theyre all friends, they pick on each other a lot of the time, but the bedrock of the relationship is solid and strong now. but when marius is with luke, marius sees a light inside of luke so bright that he seems unaware that he gives off. when artem is with vyn, artem sees a goodness inside of vyn that hesitates to make itself obvious and known because vyn is scared of getting hurt thanks to it. all of them see the other and their goodness and, unbidden, their hearts want to give love to each other as well.

and because theyre all a bit stupid in their own way theyre like, huh, weird! wonder why this feeling is so familiar! and yet i cant seem to name it...and then they all independently compare these feeling with the feelings they have for mc, a feeling they do know the name of, and theyre like.

WAIT.

THESE FEELINGS ARE...VERY BASICALLY EXACTLY WHAT I FEEL FOR MC.

which only means one thing: theyve fallen in love with everybody else

marius: //goes to his studio to Think and sees that a bunch of his recent art actually had little crumbs of these feelings already, etched into the brushstrokes and scenes. has an emotional crisis about it

vyn: //records a 1 hour long entry in his audio diary to examine and gain control of his feelings but by the end of the hour all he knows is that he wants to hold these people and be held by them

artem: //quite literally just bluescreens, artem.exe has stopped working, sits at his study and slowly, slowly, thunks his head down onto his desk, valiantly trying to ignore the fast pulse of his heart

luke: //manically vents about it to peanut who, by virtue of being a bird, doesnt get it. just keeps talking at peanut to get a grasp of it all and then lies down on the floor, overwhelmed

mc, sitting in her apartment watching some netflix: ...why do i inexplicably feel as if something very, very important has just happened?

phase 4 of the nxx team polycule is basically:

pining: extreme difficulty level

because pining is already hard when ur pining for one person. what more for an additional 3 more people. and those additional 3 more people are pining back.

and all these boys are SOOOO OBVIOUS with their romantic feelings, in their own special way. the way they show their affection to mc starts to bleed into their interactions with the others and everybody can CLEARLY SEE WHAT IS GOING ON, LOL, but also all the boys are too chickenshit to confront it, because if they confront it, what will even happen??? being in love with each other, all of them, thats going to be such a complicated fucking relationship, holy shit. it's 2030, yeah, being a polyamorous group relationship isnt completely unheard of, but sue them, theyre scared.

but mc (who i forgot to mention already knows of the boys' romantic feelings for her, shes just hasnt made a move yet on any of them because SHES IN LOVE WITH ALL OF THEM AS WELL and shes been trying to figure out how the hell to make that work, she cant bear to choose just one of them, she'd be heartbroken over leaving the rest of them behind) sees that the nxx investigation team is now all pining for each other FULLY and she kinda wants to laugh when she realizes whats going on because like, what are the chances? that this would happen? that they all found each other and their feelings fell into just the right place for nobody to be left behind?

theyre all scared, she can tell. and she is as well, she wont lie.

but shes always had a belief that goodness can prevail with the right work.

and love is one of the greatest goods out there.

phase 5 of the nxx team polycule:

It's Time For Communication, Baby!!!!!

the exact scenes of how this happens is a bit vague to me. it could go two ways: mc going to each of the boys independently to talk about feelings, hers about everybodys and his about everybodys as well. OR they have a fucking meeting about it all together and artem literally schedules it in his google calendar, or something.

either way, they like, actually talk about this. starts casual, maybe over a chill date, maybe over dinner at a nice restaurant, maybe over a walk in the park as the sun is starting to set. but where ever it happens, the end result is the same: a heart is laid out bare and it is taken in gentle, grateful hands.

You smile back at him and lean into his chest.

The next week you come into the living room with a large journal.

"This," you tell him. "Is every true account of what happened to me in there."

He stares at you for a minute and then nods. It's not a promise but you take it. He reads every page. Every heartbreaking day every scream, fight, touch. If he is around while reading it, he holds you close having to touch you in some way just so he knows you're there with him. You're out.

If he isnt he tries to hold himself back from calling Luciel and finding information on them.

He starts to dream of you in those situations back then and finds himself holding you closer.

It's only in the back of the book does he find another story.

Your story with him and he likes this one so much better. It has no ending yet and he Hope's that it wont for a very long time.

When he's finished he leaves the journal on the bed and finds you on the balcony.

You smile warmly when you see him and he pulls you into him with a bone crushing hug.

"Why did you write us in the back of the journal?" Jumin asks later that night.

First impression: To be honest, when I first-first saw him, in ch 1, I didn't really notice him. I mean I knew there was "that blue glasses guy who like to make fun" but I immediately forgot about him. For some reason, to my brain, Berdly first appeared in chapter 2 on rollercoasters.. I just thought he was gonna be a background character, but i was wrong. ( tbh at this point, I will not be surprised if all the classroom kids turn out to be major in future chapters)

Impression now: "Wow, Toby is so good at making loveable characters that even when he deliberately attempts to make an "unlikable" one, he fails at it" my thought. That means, I liked him a lot and he feels to me like a very fitting addition to the main gang. I hope he becomes a part of MCs, or at least becomes a recurring character

Favorite moment: When he told his story, with backgroud music "A blue bird of misfortune" with silhouette visuals, it was very nice. I understand his story was not something super mindblowing, I just liked that moment, and it was nice to see him accepting the part of himself he denied the entire time.

Idea for a story: I dont have any ideas about him.. but I thought about something connected with Rouxls

Unpopular opinion: Berdly is actually very loyal and caring and he geniunely cares about Noelle, not just because she helps him. perhaps he doesnt know he cares or isnt self-aware of his feelings. When he sensed Noelle was in danger, he dropped the act and fought 100 % seriously. What I meant to say was, Berdly cares a whole lot he just struggles with showing it properly. (tbh im not sure its an "unpopular" opinion)

Favorite relationship: Berdly and Noelle (platonic). I am weak for platonic friendships. And its such a nice touch that they represent platonic boy x girl dynamic. And in one of routes, Berdly really showed his true colors (a friend who looks out for the other) and threw his delusions of grandeur out of the window for her without any hesitation. Also.. the fandom's kris x berdly content is slowly converting me into a krisley shipper;

Favorite headcanon: Berdly and Kris are old gamng rivals, and apparently Kris is better than Berdly? That's genius, I like this hc its very funny and adds more flavor to Kris' character

Ok but can we briefly discuss dragon / dino mc? I miss her. Like we’ve seen you talk about how they mistake her to be a whelp when she isnt but bc she has some habits that liken her to one, the more she knew about it when she was big, the more some dragon-y mannerisms or habits come out most especially when she’s little. She’s surrounded with dragons so so of course she’ll pick them up but since she intentionally researched more about it while she was big, she just wanted all her dragon daddies purring. Like absolutely w e a k & w h i p p e d for her.

One of the things that made them weak was how she now knows!!! where the best parts are to scent in their dragon form. Human forms were easy to figure out but when they were in their dragon forms, it was always a bit harder…but when she knew each spot exactly, she’d seek those spots out in littlespace bc if “appas mine. wan’ others to know” aside from marking her daddies with scenting, she also gives them a part of her “hoard” OR she could also try learning the huffy thing they do when they’re frustrated sometimes & let some smoke out and babie tries real hard to replicate the expression her daddies do so they could feel the extent of her upset but it only makes babie look so adorable. AND MAYBE SHE ALSO LEARNS HOW TO PURR & CHIRP. Like the little chirps come out in excitement while the purrs come out when she’s satisfied and its similar enough to a dragon’s that they all just melt

AND MAYBE when its about sexual stuff, she indulges them with their temperature play. And maybe some shibari as well (especially those that could include suspension). Like when she tells them about these kinks that she is willing to explore with them… 🥵

It would come out when she’s little so much!! Very loud and over the top chirps and purrs when her daddies hold her, or give her a paci. They put on her favorite movie? She’s chirping until they blush and cover their faces 🥺

She would also do it during sex.. like with trying suspension/shibari (I can totally see this and its hot as hell. Especially with them suspending her in the air with them…) purrs when they start to caress her, making them even more riled up and ready to knot her.

Scenting… I can’t even I love it so much. They do it to her so much that she learns where to do it. Picture her nuzzling her face to their neck when she’s little!! (where the scent glands are) and them letting out the loudest purrs 🥺 (plus some of them would blow smoke in the shape of a heart to really communicate how happy it makes them!)

I agree with Kishimoto never trying to use the girls. The hate they get is not fair. I used to defend Sakura back in the days because I hoped kishi would do her justice. When shippuden started I WAS SO HAPPY because I thought this was the start of something great for Sakura and the girls but NOOOOO. Every time, Sasuke showed kishi turned her brainless. If you compare Naruto's actions and Sakura's actions to sasuke, you'd see they're completely different. What's up with that weird fake love confession scene 😭? It makes her look like she was manipulating Naru. JEEZ.

Also he literally had badass Tenten and Temari with cool useful abilities and he didn't use them ?! TF ?! Thank god for modern authors who treat their characters with respect :)

The way I see it, Sakura's character development in shippuden was always one step forward, two steps back. She gets this really badass scene (like her fight with Sasori and those cool ass medical skills) but is then regressed back into a pining girl in love every time Sauce is on screen or Kishi just throws her in the background YET AGAIN.

I love Sakura's abilities actually. Her brute strength, intelligence, vast knowledge and skill as a medic nin. But what I dislike about her character is how kishi handled her feelings for Sasuke. Naruto and Sakura's obsession with Sasuke was so???? huh??? it was so damn toxic and i never once understood why both Nardo and Sak were so obsessed with him. They were a team for one year???? I mean its great that they care about him alot but Sauce's feelings were kinda valid. His freakin clan died. Id go batshit crazy against my own village too. BUT BESIDES THAT. Both Nart and Sakura's Sasuke obsession was so annoying. 80% of shippuden was literally Keeping up with the Uchihas or Naruto yelling SASUKEH. BUT what irks me so much is the fandom's double standards with both Naruto and Sakura. "Oh Sakura shouldve gotten over her Sasuke obsession" but then turn around and call Naruto's obsession cute and gush about how he's so in love with him!!

Hot take but the only reason why sasunaru is "the most developed ship with the most chemistry" is because theyre both male characters.

I guarantee you if Naruto was a girl and SHE would be the one to have this unhealthy obsession who was chasing around Sasuke, the fandom would shit on Naruto just as much. And if Sasuke were a girl, Sauce would be sidelined like the rest of the female cast and Naruto would have another male character to have a "brotherly bond" with, because thats the only bond Kishimoto is actually good at developing. Yey for male characters having all the screentime and cool assets <333

And about that confession scene, I get her intentions. I really do. I understand that she did that in order to bring him home and that she cares about him but honey, w-why?? Why lie to him about your feelings?? Supposed he DID believe her, then what? then what kishi???? huh??? Some of her fans point the blame on Sai or whatever but I personally dont see why that scene was at all necessary. Maybe to establish Naruto's feelings for her wasnt all that serious? or his maturity? idk man. That scene was such a clusterfuck.

In the end her development in The Last and in Boruto was immaculate. She had one of the best glow ups in the old gen and ironically enough, her character wasn't butchered in Boruto. She got badass scenes she was cheated from in shippuden. I also love how she's finally getting the spotlight she deserves. Unlike the other konoha 12 :,)))

Okay onto the next female character that Kishi completely wasted. My baby. My light. 🙈 AAAHHH HINATAA.

She NEVER once said "marrying Naruto-kun is my all time goal UwU" (if youre one of those weirdos who interpret her character that way, youre immediately invalid, go take a hike)

I personally dont have anything against their crushes but to the point of making their personalities revolve around these guys every time theyre onscreen is so fucking frustrating. And with the way he writes their dialogues is so.damn.cringey. Like that one scene in the war arc with Tsunade and Madara

If im being honest. Hinata's character is actually kinda well written. Not well executed. Dear God no. But with the way he set her story, her personality, her chracterization. She's honestly one of the best written female characters on the show. IMO. By Kishi's standards of writing women ofc. She's hands down one of the most complex characters. Her shy personality wasnt out of the blue, it wasnt a cutesy waifu trait. Her abusive upbringing made her that way. Her trauma turned her that way. So yeah, sue her if she looked up to Naruto as an inspiration when everyone else in her family treated her like dust. Shit on her for having Naruto's love light in her dark when her own damn father wouldnt even look her in the eye and her entire clan shunned her because she was "weak." She doesnt owe her family shit so idgaf what they do with the Hyuga clan. Neji and Hanabi aren't included btw

Now if you say that Hinata didnt have development. YOURE INVALID. She came from an abusive household, the shyest girl in her class, her insecurities got in the way of her own confidence, had difficulty of standing up for herself now became a loving mother of two, has the guts to kick her husband out of the house(with whom she couldnt even keep eye contact with when she was a kid) became the strongest hyuga, most supportive wife and mother, and has given her kids the comforting childhood she never had as a kid.

She has one of the most beautiful stories in the show and if you think her personality is only Naruto-kun and big boobs, then im sorry that you cant appreciate such a heartwarming story.

And I agree, killing her would honestly make me feel more at ease than continue to see her suffer because of godawful misogynistic writers. But at least let her die in an epic fight. Please. PLEASEE. She got nerfed so bad, i feel a physical pain every time i think about it

But arguably they are sooo much better handled in Boruto than how the old gen girls were. And thats because Kishi isnt anywhere near the new gen female cast. I cant formulate a solid opinion with the other new gen female cast since im not entirely invested in the anime. Not ashamed to admit that I only watch it for the sunshine moments and for Hinata :DD

hades tells aphrodite about hera’s wish to stay asleep, and so when the two find mc’s mother- hera’s reincarnation- they do their best to shield her from any other gods or godly business, to keep her hidden.

mc and alex arent raised together because of this.

alex is raised on olympus, and their opinion on humans is slightly different than if they’d been raised alongside mc and josh

mc becomes a baker instead of working at some place like HERA, which doesn’t exist here

mc’s mother still dies young, and so the potential passes to mc

because mc’s mom isn’t there to convince aphrodite to kick ares to the curb, alex has to deal with him much longer, until ares convinces zeus to send alex on a wild goose chase- to find hera’s reincarnation

so alex goes down to earth armed only with some files on hera and the goddess’ ring and they end up actually really loving humans, they’re so quirky and oddly charming and not at all how the gods painted them out to be

it takes awhile (a few years- so they’re 30 when they meet her) for them to do it, but they track down the person they think has hera’s potential

there’s an attempt to get her to find the ring and put it on, but that only results in her giving it back to them 

they try different tactics trying to get her to try the ring on so they know for sure, and she always upends their plans

but the more they run into one another, the more alex realizes how kind and genuine she is, how warm her eyes are (when theyve only ever seen that sort of warmth from their mother and maybe persephone), how her laugh is one of the sweetest sounds theyve ever heard

despite their upbringing, despite the goddess of love in their blood....... they’ve never really had a crush on anyone, until MC. so they don’t really realize it for what it is at first, not until they notice her blushing, too

and gods, they can’t do that

they can’t fall in love with hera’s (assumed to be) reincarnation!

so they do what they have to do to throw a wrench in it: they tell her that she’s hera’s reincarnation

she laughs at them a moment, and then asks if theyre serious

and they are

she wants to think it’s some REALLY weird joke, but there no humor in their eyes, just something... sad? guilty?

she’s a little weirded out, rightfully so, and she starts to leave, but alex pleads for her to stay, and let them explain

and at some point mc ends up asking them if they Want her to be hera’s reincarnation

and they’ll hesitate, but say no, they dont want that. but they do think she is regardless.

mc isnt convinced of it at all, but there’s something in alex’s eyes- their amaranth eyes, she notes with a new kind of wonder- that pushes her to let them try

they’ll bring her to the boar back and introduce her to different monsters and the like, show her their own aura, etc. until she believes them

now here’s the kicker

alex offers her the ring, and she puts it on, and-

it burns her

alex takes it off immediately, before the power can lash out and hurt her any more than that

they apologize frantically, while at the same time feeling all their efforts washed down the drain AND feeling their hope grow, that they might be able to love her after all

there’ll be a bunch of talk about alex and their view on humanity, and how they’ve always been taught by those around them (save their mother) that their humanity is a weakness and so they thought humans were weak, but since they’ve been on earth, humans- mc, especially- have broken down every prejudice they’d held, and how they think it’s not a weakness for them, either

and mc will comment on how human they’ve always seemed to her, and how it’s not a bad thing at all

and then of course there’s gonna be talk of alex’s immortality, and the fear of loving someone mortal. and talk of mc and her own view on mortality- how it’s better to love and lose than not to love at all. how she’d lost her mother, but she wouldnt trade that love for anything in the world, no matter how much it had hurt

and there will be arguments, because they’re different people, and it will hurt, but they ultimately care more about one another than they do about staying angry

and alex will discover mc’s lemon cookies and they’ll swear nothing on olympus could ever taste as good

and mc will find that alex’s singing voice is the loveliest thing she’s ever heard, and it feels like they sing just for her

and at some point, it will come to mc landing in a fight between alex and someone else, some supernatural or godly creature, and she’ll want to help them, so she’ll get the ring and wear it again because alex has explaiend artifacts to her and

and! it will work this time

she’ll protect them with a golden bubble that takes it out of her, but she protects them and they win the fight

and they find out that the ring was warded, by aphrodite and hades both to keep it from finding hera’s reincarnation

and alex struggles between their duty to olympus, and the feelings they have for mc and humanity and how they don’t think it’s right to give up someone so good for a goddess no one’s seen in a hundred years

and alex- and mc- will discover that her mother had the potential too, and that it somehow resulted in her dying

and they will be forced to admit to mc that if she were to become hera, she would die. and mc will feel the sting of betrayal, that this person she’s started to care for so much, had essentially been sent to bring her to her death

it’s all so messy and beautiful and tragic, but they fall in love anyways, and it’s stronger than anything else the worlds might throw at them vuv

There has been a huge spike of crime going on in the city of the New York. Especially with the Foot which only meant that the boys were always out and taking these goons down.

Its wasn't much of a battle with them. They were horribly skilled and of course stand no chance against the team but after a while it gets tiring and becomes alot on them to deal with.

You can't even remember the last time you had seen Raph let alone talked to him, texted or called him. The last time you were able to even hang out with him was about a few weeks ago. And with work and your own life becoming busy it was getting harder and harder.

And even if you had days off you couldn't go down to the lair because for the most the day the boys would be sleeping. Their whole sleep schedule was messed up and clearly an angry and sleep deprived Raphael was not something you were willing to deal with as of right now.

After so many weeks of not seeing them, you decided to take the chance and go visit them.

You get yourself ready and take the trip to the lair. And it was a mess. You could already feel the tension between all the brothers and the lack of sleep was clearly noticable.

"Hey angelcakes." Mikey greeted as you smiled in reply, "hey MC. How is everything going?" You asked as the youngest sibling sunk lower into the couch. "We're doing great, angelcakes." He replied; sarcasm noted.

"Let me guess, Raph and Leo got into a tussle again?" You asked as he only nodded as he started to doze off. You take the venture towards the dojo where Raph was of course working out to blow off steam.

He took in deep and shallow breaths as he turned to look at him. "Just focus on me okay?" You added on as you used your other hand to caress his cheek.

"S-sorry.." he mumbled out as he leaned into your touch. "I know that it's been stressful. Everyone is tired and getting annoyed with this but you need to stay strong and work together." You said softly as he sighed, "it's hard to do that when I got everyone on my case.."

"I know...Leo can be stern but you gotta understand that he's also stressed out."

You smiled softly as you stroked your thumb against his cheek as be began to relax a bit more. "I missed you..." he barely managed out. "I missed you too." You replied as his gaze locked on yours and you smiled once more.

"How about you get some rest...it looks like you haven't slept in ages." You advised as he chuckled softly in reply, "I look that bad?"

"No, I still think you look handsome." You replied as you kissed his cheek. "You just got here though..."

"Who said I wouldn't nap with you?" You asked as he began to smile as he takes your hand in his and you both venture to his room for a 'nap'. Hey at least it unstressed him. *wink-wink-nudge-nudge*

Donnie x reader: Prompt - "If I mean nothing to you, then why do you hold me like I'm your world?"

You and Donnie have been great friends. Since the moment you and your roommate April had crossed paths with them. You were quite a nerd yourself and was always fascinated with Donnie's lab experiments and inventions.

But after many months of being close friends you had came to realization that what you were feeling towards Donnie wasn't just a friend like emotion. You liked-no loved him more than just a friend.

Donnie was the shoulder to cry on when you needed him most. The both of you supported eachother through everything. Anytime you were down he'd be at your apartment in a heartbeat as you would do the same for him. You both would spend many hours with eachother.

Either binge watching your favorite movies and or t.v shows. From making explosions in his lab, laughing, sharing good moments together or simply ranting about your problems or things that have been on your mind.

Yes your friendship with him is unbreakable but you were in love with him and he was head over heels for April.

April is great, she's nice and an amazing friend. You never had a problem with her. You two were also inseparable and sometimes you really hated the burst of emotions you had for her. You hated her for how Donnie admires her. You hated how his heart was only beating for her.

You wanted him to look at you the way he looks at her. You wanted him to see you the way you saw him. But...you can't force someone to love you...and god it hurt. It hurt alot...

It hurts how he would find a way to clear his schedule to be with April and sometimes he would hang out with her alot more than you. Maybe he didn't notice how it hurt you, maybe he did? You didn't know. But what you did know was that you couldn't deal with it any longer.

So visits to the lair became less frequent. You stayed away from the lab and half the time you would make up lame excuses of to why you couldn't come down to visit.

The brothers knew why. Hell they knew you had an insane crush on Donnie and when they realized of how you never came down to visit they knew why.

"Does our friendship mean anything to you?" Donnie asked as you turned to look at him. You were in the dojo, reading a book since the other brothers were out doing god knows what which left you and Donnie on your own in the lair.

"Does it mean anything to you?" You asked sourly as you forced yourself to continue reading but at this point the words became blurry and hard to read.

"Of course it does!"

"Oh really? Cause it doesn't seem like you do!" You snapped as you put your book away and glared at him.

"Says the one who hasn't been here in weeks!" He fired back as you rolled your eyes, "why do you care? You had April didn't you!" You spat as you hated how your voice became wobbly and weak.

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"All I hear is 'oh April is so great!'. 'April is so smart! Oh April is this, oh April is that!' You make up so much time for her and nothing for me!" You yelled out as Donnie was speechless for words.

"That's-that's not true!"

"Yes it is! You treat her better than me! And then I'm left for seconds?! How is that fair on me!" You cried out as the tears rolled down your cheeks.

"Who has helped you in the lab? Me! Who has been there for you when you needed someone? Me! I thought I was your best friend, and then when April comes along I mean nothing to you!" You added on as Donnie's eyes dimmed.

You sniffled, trying to contain the sob from escaping you. "But I tried. I tried so hard to role with it because I love you..." you choked out.

His golden eyes widened as you let out a dry laugh. "I have loved you for so long and the fact that I still do-" you forced yourself to stop yourself as you shake your head.

"(Y/n) I-"

"I'm done." You forced out, not wanting to hear another word. You run past him only to have him grab your arm, "(Y/n), wait!"

You looked up at him, anger and betrayal filled your eyes as the tears swam in your (e/c) eyes, the warm tears streamed down your cheeks.

His own eyes grew misty as they filled with sadness and something else that you couldn't figure it out but at this point you didn't care.

"Let me ask you this." You forced out as your breathing became shallow as each word that escaped your mouth wobbled and trembled. "If I mean nothing to you, then why do you hold me like I'm your world?" You asked as Donnie's eyes widened for a moment before they dimmed once again.

You worked down the hard swallow and his hand released your arm and you nearly broke into tears right in front of him.

You stepped away from him and ran out of the dojo. The sob finally breaks out of you and god you wished...you really wished he had chased after you. That he would beg you not to go and hold you so close and never let you go but...

But that never happened and god it hurt. It hurt you so much...

Not every story has to end with a happy ending. Things happen and people change. And though the truth can sometimes hurt you, it also gives you the ability to heal.

And that takes time. It takes time to heal and it takes strength in order to move forward. And with that comes struggle but struggle become an allie as we take that struggle and learn from it.

And eventually we become stronger and are able to get back up and finally heal. Yes it will take time, it will hurt for some time but if there is one thing I know dear reader is that we cannot let the past hold onto us. We cannot let the pain take hold and drag us into the deep.

Past will be a distant memory and we can learn from it...

And as the long time saying goes, when one door closes...

Another opens...
