Reading TESblr lore opinions and reading TES Reddit lore opinions is like getting glimpses of two completely different planets. It’s so funny. People have completely opposing differences and common conceptions that you can’t even find reference of in the other platform. Almost feels like two separate fandoms. Fascinating.

The good news: Devin Grayson emailed me back. Sooner than I was expecting, too, which I do appreciate.

The bad news: She says that she doesn't think she's going to be of much help to me since the storyline in question was written more than a quarter of a century ago, she was required to write about Grant (and Argent) by editorial mandate and she didn't feel that she knew enough about him to create new backstory, and she remembers the storyline I'm referring to but almost nothing about what led to it. I'm welcome to send my questions, but she can't claim to be an expert about Grant.

Completely understandable under the circumstances, of course. I will go ahead and send the questions on the off-chance that one or two might be answerable, but I'm not in a position to hope for too much. I do appreciate her taking the time to respond to me at all, but it looks like in this case I'm going to have to work off primarily my own analysis in discussing this story.

#random personal stuff #of course I can't expect her to be an Expert on this particular character in the same way that she might be with others #whom she has written for in much greater scope and detail #but she DID contribute something that has become an enduring part of Grant's lore and that's still significant #even if writing about him wasn't her choice #anyway whatever the outcome I am not sorry I asked #I would love to interview Grant's actual creator (for fan curiosity purposes)#but since he was not the one who developed the storyline I'm dealing with it wouldn't be relevant to my paper #unless I were to ask if he felt that Grayson's addition was consistent with his vision for the character #on his website he comments that what was done with Grant by later writers was without his or the cocreating artist's input #which to me implies possible disapproval #but who knows #anyway it would be weird to interview a writer mostly to ask how he felt about someone else's work on his character #so I don't think I will

Sneak peak at yet another wip, which will be another reel, but a pretty short and easy one compared to the other

I’m playing around with a bit of waves in Fontaine’s hair, to see if I like it in my style. I love it in @thedeepfanpage’s style, and she looks great in all the braid fanart I see, but I’ve gotten so used to/attached to the straight hair I’ve always drawn her with. And it’s not entirely out of the genetic equation since Kaiko also has straight hair. But I sometimes make Ant’s hair a little wavy so I’m testing out the same with Fontaine’s to see if I like it

I’m also now effectively drawing her with an actual reference from herself from the show because I. Just CANNOT draw her consistently so I’m learning how to draw her. I’m typing this now and already looking at her face and hair and planning to erase and redraw it. It’s funny to me that she’s the person everyone else draws the most fanart for, she’s got the most stuff and practically most of the fandoms favorite, and I’m sitting over here chewing my pencil to pieces and pitching a fit because I just CAN’T DRAW HER

#I’ve also been trying to give her a little bit of muscle in her arms #i remember a while back on their website that Ant said she was the second best swimmer he knew next to their dad #which is a pretty big compliment #i don’t know if it still says that but I remember it saying that #and with how much swimming this family does they have to have developed some sort of muscle #ant’s forever stuck as a string bean child in my head tho #i think he’d still also have some muscle. but he’s got string bean syndrome #he’s three apples tall and built like a bean pole. no one knows how he carries Jeffrey around everywhere #or how he keeps up with the rest of his family #he gets a little more noticeable muscle once he goes through puberty #but he was a string bean child and you can’t change my mind #he did NOT get his dads genes in the muscle department. or the height department #the deep 2015 #the deep cartoon #fontaine nekton #wip

hey you know what! they've probably posted enough info about it now that I can actually tell you a bit about the game I've been working on for the past year~

i'll keep you in suspense until tomorrow (nyeh >:3) but you can see some videos of year+ old early prototypes over on instagram. the idea being to essentially show a very compressed timelapse of the development of the game from its earliest prototype up to what it is now. so feel free to speculate wildly off that.

currently I think we're up to August of last year. which is kind of exciting in fact, because the videos are starting to show my major contributions to the game, like the terrain and water shaders (as of gamescom last year, they've evolved a bit since then).

i'll write a real post about it when i have the go-ahead but I'm so badly looking forward to being NDA-free so I can tell you about this ridiculous hamster game.

I have been so confused to see people call Lulu "minor-coded".

Deadass thought her whole schtick was that being in the goo stunted her development, which explains why she is so small and has to basically re-learn speaking.

I really wish people would stop jumping to "This character is small and cute so there they are minor-coded". It feels so weird to see, especially when there is a logical explanation for Lulu in that she is developmentally stunted in some way: i.e. her organs are deadass fucked up.

If I am correct, the other Lulu that came out of one of the other Deathdrives was a lot bigger than Lulu — presumably because she had more time to develop.

got the posting anxiety bad tonight

#click clack #ok a peak into my thought process and anxiety here we go #ok so the art is almost done and up to standard I would post onto my art blog #BUT for some reason the thought of posting art of my ocs there scares me #because even tho it’s my art blog in my mind it’s the equivalent to a art gallery that demands being detached????? from the art #like once I share it there it’s no longer ‘mine’ but to the public #and my ocs (plus the stories that go with them) are like the closest to my heart and relinquishing them feels like a lot #a part of my imagination that I spent so much time with developing over the years to be placed up for judgement…#so then the solution could be to put it here on my personal! the online space cozy enough and filled with other posts that could easily bury #the original posts I put here #but there goes my other dilemma. i don’t want them too associated with my personal for if one day i do muster up something for publication #my big fear is that ppl will find this space and go thru everything. the fear of being perceived and judged 😵‍💫#all the hypotheticals and anxiety for something that may not even happen #dumb mind problems my head made up 🙄#anyway writing it out helped lol I’m posting it to my art blog I decided 👍#I have to work on getting that blog to be comfortable space to post… i should lower that silly self imposed standard I set for myself #and be whatever about ppl being aware of my online presences #maybe… [grinding my teeth] I should post my messy sketches onto my art blog…#I should take my friends suggestion and make a website to feature my ocs…🤔#idk my only other solution that doesn’t feel viable to mitigate the anxiety is to slowly introduce my ocs in the background of setting art #just a slow drip until they are in the forefront #bleghhh whatever much ado about nothing it’s like I never posted my ocs ever when I have indeed posted them before on both places ( º＿º )#I’m realizing it happens too when I post too much fanart in a row… I have curator disease??? 🫨#or something I used to be very particular about what order I reblog stuff like it used to be by color and content balanced out #I still do to a lesser degree… but it used to be pretty bad #post order compulsion????#the fear of being abrupt and incohesive in between posts…#if you read this far thanks you can now see how much this consumes me 🙃
