pride and prejudice
Summary: Rafe Cameron is your typical frat boy-- and you hate those types. But what happens when a night out gives you a peek of who Rafe Cameron is behind all of that?
obxau!Rafe x afab!Reader
Word Count: ~3k
Warnings: underage drinking, the word 'rapist' (no one gets raped or anything), cursing, terrible attempts at humor
A/N: This is definitely not a product of me watching pride and prejudice after watching 22nd jump street. Definitely not. I'm planning on making this a series, so stay tuned for more!
Edit: guys I’m working on part 2!! Hopefully I’ll have it up in the next few days, before my classes start :)
Masterlist
You weren’t one for frat parties; you were more of a kickback kind of girl. You’d been to exactly two frat parties during your time in college, and they both disappointed you immensely. But your friend had a thing going on with this one guy, and that guy was best friends with someone from a frat– so for the sake of her love life you put on a frat party-esque outfit. And that’s how you found yourself sipping on a drink, talking to your friend when her almost-boyfriend crashed your conversation with someone.
You were swaying slightly along to the music that was being blasted throughout the house, trying your best not to bump into the severely drunk people that surrounded you. Your friend laughed and grabbed her almost-boyfriend’s arm. “There you are,” she said, slightly slurry. “I was having so much fun without you!”
He laughed and poked her nose. “Just wanted to introduce my favorite girl to my favorite guy. This,” he said, pointing at his friend, “Is Rafe Cameron.”
You let your eyes roam over Rafe Cameron as he shook your friend’s hand. Typical frat boy, you thought. Loose-fitting shirt, black pants, slightly unkempt hair, rings. All he was missing was a silver chain and earrings and he’d be the poster boy for a homewrecker’s association. He extended his hand to you, but your body lagged momentarily. Rafe Cameron. Rafe Cameron.
He probably was the poster boy for a homewrecker’s association.
“Wait,” you said, hesitating. “Rafe Cameron? I’ve heard of you!”
He smirked a little. “I figured.”
You almost rolled your eyes. Arrogant. Should have known. You shook his hand out of respect, but you weren’t too eager to do more than that.
Rafe wasn’t on the same page. “So what’s your name?” he slightly shouted over the music.
You gave him your name and took a sip of your drink from your silo cup. You elbowed your friend. “You just about done for tonight? If you drink even a drop more I feel like I’m gonna have to airlift you out of here.”
Your friend laughed and shrugged before looking at her almost-boyfriend. “But I’m having so much fun!”
He put his arm around her loosely, and they both drunkenly grinned at each other. You looked at Rafe and fake gagged. “They’re disgusting. Especially him, just cause I’m not gonna insult her.”
“He never told me his girl had such a beautiful friend, you know,” Rafe said, his hand reaching up to comb through his hair. Your eyes trailed his arm, watching as his short sleeve fell back and exposed his bicep– and then you remembered whose arm you were just staring at, and looked back at his face.
Judging by his smile, he knew you were looking.
“Don’t waste your lines on me, Rafe Cameron. I’m not gonna sleep with you,” you retorted.
“Who said I wanted to?” he teased, crossing his arms.
You pursed your lips. “So is that how you greet everything with a pulse that walks through your door?”
Rafe chuckled and took half a step closer to you. “That’s how I greet people I find interesting.”
“Aha so you do wanna sleep with me!” you exclaimed. “Oh, how I love being correct.”
Rafe rolled his eyes. “Yeah, must not be a regular occurrence with how excited you are.”
You pouted at him, swatting at his shoulder. “That’s not very welcoming of you. I thought the job of a host was to be kind to their guests?”
“You don’t seem like you want to be my guest,” Rafe said, a slight implication in his voice. He took your red silo cup out of your hand. “But I’ll give you some time to change your mind.”
You tilted your head at him. “I’m not that easy, Cameron.”
“I like a challenge.” He took a sip of your drink, eyes wincing. “Holy shit, this is strong!”
“Yeah, I can’t hold my liquor for shit, but I sure love to try.” You took your drink back from Rafe. “Thank you for leaving behind exactly two drops,” you said sarcastically.
Rafe put up his hands in mock surrender. “Relax, I’ll get you a refill.”
You smiled at him with a poisonous smile. “Better get hoppin’, Cameron.”
“You’re not gonna come with?” He questioned. You started nodding when, out of the corner of your eye, you saw your friend and her almost-boyfriend making out, their hands wandering. When you looked back at Rafe, he looked like he could barely hold in his laughter.
“Yeah, yeah, I’ll come,” you said, resigned. Rafe laughed, his alcohol-tinged breath fanning over your face lightly. “Shut it before I tackle you.”
“Yes ma’am,” he said, turning to walk toward the drink table.
You and Rafe had finally fought through the sluggish heap of college students, reaching the kitchen only to find mostly empty bottles. Rafe put his hands on his hips and hummed to himself. “Actually,” he said, “Wait here. I’ll go get some from my room. Can’t let a pretty girl walk around here without a drink.”
You smiled at him slightly. “Flattery isn’t gonna get you anywhere, Cameron.”
“Not with that attitude it won’t,” he said before he disappeared into the throng of students, making his way to the stairs. You just pulled your phone out and stood in the corner, hoping that no one would bump into you.
Your phone vibrated with a text from your friend.
Gojng bck to his place, get hom cafe! ill pay u back 4 uberrrrrr
That girl really needs to pace her drinks, you thought to yourself. Crossing your arms around yourself, you tried to blend into the dark corner of the kitchen you planted yourself in. Maybe just one drink with Rafe and then I’ll go home.
As if on cue, you felt a slight poke on your right shoulder. You turned to find Rafe standing with two cups, filled almost to the brim with coke and god knows what else. “I have returned,” he said.
“Very medieval of you,” you teased, taking the glass from him. “What’s in it, exactly?”
“Just some Tito’s and coke. Can’t go wrong there,” Rafe said, taking a sip of his drink.
You looked into the brown liquid and, when you noticed no bubbles or anything else strange, you took a little sip. “I’ll give you that one. Sometimes basic is good.”
“Woah, doth my ears misunderstand? Art thou agreeing with me?” Rafe said sarcastically.
You laughed. “It’s just the alcohol, alright? I don’t usually have more than two shots, and right now I’m no shot number three.”
Rafe laughed, pinching the bridge of his nose. “You’re such a lightweight!”
An immediate, stubborn fire lit in your stomach at those words. “Hey! You might be right but would a lightweight do this?” You brought the cup to your lips and chugged the slightly bitter drink, ignoring the ache in your throat from the sheer volume of liquid.
“I could do better than that,” Rafe countered, downing his drink in three large sips. You watched his Adam’s apple bob slightly. You hated to think it, but you saw the appeal. The sarcasm, charm, chill attitude– and it didn’t help that it was attached to such a nice body.
You definitely drank too much.
“Let’s pour another then, mister big shot!” you slurred slightly. Fuck, my head hurts a little.
Rafe shook his head vigorously. “I don’t think that’s the best idea. You’ve just had five shots.”
Your eyebrows shot up to your forehead. “There were two shots in there?”
Rafe leaned in, just a few inches between your faces. “And that was me restraining myself,” he said in a low voice. “I think I win our alcoholic contest, sweetheart.”
You felt a slight blush creep into your face. It’s just the alcohol, you thought. It’s definitely not his voice.
“Well,” you slurred. “I should probably head home anyway. My lovely friend and her make out partner have decided to abandon me high and dry, so it’s not like I’ve got much entertainment here anyway.”
“Okay, now I’m offended. I’m not entertaining?” Rafe put his hand on his chest in mock hurt. “Let me call you an Uber, then.”
You cocked an eyebrow. “You think chivalry is gonna get you in my good graces, Cameron?”
He shook his head. “I know it will.” He pulled out his phone, the brightness illuminating his face slightly. You could see every crevice of his pores, his plush lips—
I need to go home, you thought. Too much drink. Toooooo much. You shook your head and then immediately winced, regretting the sudden movement.
“You okay?” Rafe asked.
You nodded your head lightly. “Yeah my head is just spinning reallllyyyyyy fast,” you said, chuckling. “It’s like my head is moving and my brain is taking a bit to catch up with me.”
Rafe put his phone in his back pocket. “Alright, how about we get you sobered up a little before I send you home, alright? I don’t need the RAs to get you in trouble for drinking.” He lightly grabbed your upper forearm and guided you out of the kitchen before you stopped him.
“Wait, Rafe,” you said, your eyes wide. “I’m really really dizzy.” You blinked your eyes open and close over and over again, as if that would get the alcohol to process through your system faster. “I don’t wanna walk.” I probably look like a clutz right now. In front of Rafe Cameron, no less.
Rafe sighed a little before he guided you to lean all of your body weight into his side. “Come on, let’s go sit on the couch, alright?”
You shook your head. “Noooo I don’t want to,” you slurred, your head throbbing at this point. “Too many people there. It’s embarrassing,” you whined. I wanna go home, I don’t want anyone to see me like this, you thought to yourself.
“You wanna go upstairs then? There’s no one in my room.” Rafe put his arm around your shoulder, and you leaned into his support, your face falling into the space between his neck and shoulder. You could smell his cologne just slightly, and you had to give it to him– he picked out some good cologne. He smelled just lightly of sandalwood and pine. It distracted you for a little bit before you remembered to respond.
“Okay, but if you kidnap me then I’m gonna be sooooo mad at you.”
When Rafe got to the stairs, he looked at you and the stairs and back at you again. “So how do you want to do this?”
You shook your head in the crook of his neck, frustrated. “I don’t knowww,” you whined. “My brain isn’t working right now and I hate it, I hate it, I hate–”
“Alright, sweetheart, how about I just carry you up the stairs? You don’t have to do anything, you just have to sleep a little, okay? I promise the second you wake up I’ll drive you home.”
You hummed for a really long time, harmonizing to Phantom of the Opera. “I’m so sorry for being this annoying,” you started rambling. “I don’t really drink this much and like I wanna take care of myself but it’s so frustrating cause I tell my legs to move and they just don’t- ah!”
Rafe put his hands under your knees, lifting you up and climbing the stairs, weaving in and out of the small groups of people who were standing on the staircase. “It’s okay, trust me. You’re not an annoying drunk, you’re kinda funny.” He poked the area behind your knee and you snorted. “Woah, what was that sound?” he asked you.
You clutched his shirt and buried yourself into his neck even deeper than before. “If I hear a word about this tomorrow, I’m going to order an Osama bin Laden level hit squad on you, you hear me Cameron? I’m anti-gun but I’ll change my mind just to get rid of you.”
“Harsh words from the girl who couldn’t figure out a flight of stairs,” Rafe teased you.
He brought you down the hallway, and the loud noises of the party slowly started getting a little quieter. The lights were off in this part of the house, and you found the dark a welcome cool for your pupils. Your eyes closed.
“You doing alright there?” Rafe asked you. He leaned all your weight onto his one hand and thigh and you heard the turn of a doorknob– and then the click of the door as it shut behind you.
“Don’t kidnap me, Cameron,” you slurred. “Remember. Osama bin Laden hit squad.”
Rafe chuckled, and you felt the vibrations through his chest. “Relax, sweetheart. I know some people think I’m a dick, but I’m not a rapist.” He lowered you to what you could feel was a bed and a slightly wrinkled comforter of some sort. Comfy.
You peeked an eye open to look at him. “That’s what a rapist might say.” Rafe’s face was still a little close to you, having just put you on his bed, and you couldn’t stop your eyes from wandering to his lips. And then back to his eyes when you remembered who he was. And then back down to his lips when you forgot.
“You talk a lot, don’t you?” Rafe commented, making no move to get away from you. Rather, he did the opposite– he sat on the edge of his bed, leaning his weight onto his thighs. His basketball shorts rode up a little and you could see the slight muscle of it.
You opened both of your eyes and found yourself in a small, secluded room. The only light source was his desk lamp in the corner, the soft yellow light giving the area a cozy glow. He had a few basketball posters up on the wall across from where you were lying. Typical frat room, you thought. No surprises there.
You sat up against his headboard and looked Rafe defiantly in his eyes. “Didn’t hear you complaining.”
“Never said I didn’t like it,” Rafe said. “Between the two of us, I think you’re the one who’s got a heart full of hate.”
“Just because I don’t say yes to sleeping with you doesn’t mean I hate you, Cameron,” you said slightly irritated. “Sorry, I don’t fall onto your feet immediately.”
“You don’t hate me, huh?” Rafe said, smirking. “That’s a start.”
“And that’s all it’s gonna be. I’m not easy,” you repeated. “Not much works on me.”
“So what does? Asking for a friend.” Rafe motioned you to scootch over, and you did, cornered between him and the wall. You sat with your back against the headboard, and Rafe sat opposite you, putting his hands behind him.
You hummed for a really long time. I’ve been humming a lot lately, you thought. “I don’t knooooow,” you drew out. “I’ll tell you if you give me 20 Monopoly dollars.”
“How about 20 Life dollars?” Rafe countered.
“Deal!” you said, laughing. You sighed, the question sobering you up a little bit. “I want a man who’s genuine,” you decided. “I’ve done the whole casual, hook-up thing. I hated it, I always felt used afterward.” You looked at him. “Guess I just want something real for once.”
Rafe didn’t break your eye contact, and you could practically see the gears in his head processing everything you said.
Shit, you thought. Not very casual and funny of me to just drop this on a frat guy.
You leaned your head against the headboard, a drunk smile on your face. “But I don’t expect you to get that. Not exactly the fun conversation you wanted to have at your party, right? Hey! Hopefully I don’t remember telling you this tomorrow morning!” You laughed at your own stupidity. “Wait, fuck, if I forget then you might still remember!”
Rafe cleared his throat and got on all fours, reaching behind you to pull up his pillow. You moved forward naturally. “What, are you gonna hit me with it?” you joked with Rafe.
He didn’t laugh, chuckle, give a quip back. Nothing. He just laid the pillow down flat and gestured for you to lay down. You did. “You should get some sleep,” he said solemnly.
You nodded lightly, happily noticing your head throbbing less than before. When your eyes closed, you felt Rafe’s weight get off of the bed. You didn’t know why, but you felt something clawing at you in your stomach, telling you that you’d fucked up somewhere. He’s helping you, you thought. He’s helping you and you just insulted his character two seconds ago.
“Wait, Rafe?” you called out. You heard him give a soft grunt in response. “Why’re you being so nice to me?”
There was a pause and you heard him take in a breath. “Guess I’m just a good host,” he said softly, slight jest in his voice. But it was tinged with a heaviness that you hadn’t heard all night. You opened your eyes to find him sitting at his desk, looking at you.
“You know,” you started, the alcohol making you more vulnerable than usual. “That light makes you look really good. Kind of like a painting.”
Rafe chuckled. “You’ve definitely had too much to drink, sweetheart.”
You turned your body to face him. “Maybe. But I’m not gonna remember this tomorrow, so did this even happen?” you said. “Are we in a matrix? Have we been in a simulation this–”
“You sound like a podcast junkie right now,” Rafe said, laughing. You heard less of the heaviness in his voice and rejoiced silently. Frat boy or not, you didn’t like making people sad.
“You’re a little different than I thought you’d be, Cameron.”
Rafe shook his head. “I still fuck anything that moves, don’t worry. And I can hold my alcohol, but we already established that, didn’t we?”
You slapped your hand over your eyes. “Too soon, man. Too soon.” Your eyes started drooping behind your palm, and you yawned. “Wait, if you want I can go sleep on the couch. I don’t wanna take your bed, and you’ve been so nice to me even though I’m like an annoying amount of drunk. It’s the least I can do,” you begged.
“There’s like fifty people on the couch,” Rafe pointed out.
You dragged your hand down your face and pouted, your lower lip jutting out slightly in thought. “Then I can Uber back home. I don’t wanna bother you.” Tears started lining your eyes.
Rafe rolled his chair next to his bed and grabbed your wrist lightly, drawing your attention. “Listen to me. I’m not letting you Uber home in this condition, and I’m definitely not going to make you try and sleep on a couch that is probably covered in fifty STDs right now. I’ve got no problem with you sleeping here, you hear me? Besides, you seem chill so far. I don’t hate spending time with you, you know.”
You looked at his hand holding your wrist, noting how it dwarfed you. I’m not easy, you reminded yourself. I deserve more than a hook-up ridden frat boy. “Or maybe you just want to hold it over my head that I slept in your room the first night I met you,” you joked, trying to break the tension.
Rafe chuckled. “There’s that, too.”
You brought your hand up to his wrist and gently pried his fingers off of your wrist. “I charge thirty dollars for physical contact, Cameron.”
“You must owe me thousands, then,” he retorted. You laughed.
“Where are you going to sleep?” you asked.
“Will knowing that make you feel better about sleeping here?” he questioned you. When you nodded your head yes, he sighed.
“Wasn’t planning on sleeping anyway. I’ve got an exam in my marketing class tomorrow and I’ve skipped half of the lectures.”
“Hah! Marketing major. That’s what I thought,” you said. But you were content with his answer, and you closed your eyes.
“Put down your pitchforks, ma’am. I’m an Information Systems major.” You heard Rafe roll his chair back to his desk.
“Not much better, Cameron.” You paused for a second. “But again, thank you. I owe you one.”
“Go to sleep already. You’re gonna need the rest for when I make fun of you in the morning,” said Rafe.
You chuckled lightly, sleep starting to take you over. You muttered quietly, drunkenly: “Goodnight, Rafe.”

Here’s an short unsuccessful test I did today; attempting to create an animation in a program I quite literally have ZERO experience with using ahaha :’)
Storytime/long ramble (unimportant):
I wanted to be like the “cool kids” and shift out of my comfort zone—no more relying solely on FlipaClip! Gotta branch out to a more effective program (ideally one that has an interface resembling animation software used directly in industry work)! I’ve seen people make good use of AlightMotion and figured it’s worth a shot!….that goal quickly fell apart <<
There’s definitely a wide variety of tools and especially emphasis on built-in editing features. I was intimidated by the sheer amount of mechanics going on at first, but gradually you get used to navigating stuff (even if some stuff I’m still trying to figure out the purpose of lmao). The only issue is that (to me at least) AlightMotion seems to handle tweening better then frame-by-frame animation. Which immediately lands me in a predicament of sorts since uh…can’t say I’m good at tweening. That would require me to actually finish coloring characters/have the ability to polish things using clean linework :P
Tweening (from my perspective) is about making something visually appealing by rigging separated assets of characters (like you would for puppets) rather then the whole. Or alternatively, some people tween by slightly moving the same drawn lines around on a singular drawing…so TLDR the exact opposite of frame-by-frame. I’m not an illustrator, I’m a storyteller. I can only manage rough line work with uncolored motions. Usually the smooth flow of frame-by saves me, else it would all look rather unfinished. I know where my strengths and my weaknesses lie; I’ve given AlightMotion a shot, but unfortunately it’s not gonna be solving the FlipaClip replacement problem 🥲
Was still beneficial challenging myself to play around with an unfamiliar environment! It’s a step in the right direction to encourage myself to try different things/figure out what works or doesn’t. If my patience didn’t wear thin, I’m sure I could’ve attempted authentic tweening instead of trying to push the program to work with frame-by-frame (it kept crashing, lagging, and pixelating while I tried to force it to comply with my methods. Think it’s safe to assume it doesn’t like me fighting against tweening lol). Who knows! Might return to AlightMotion in the future or might not. Depends on how adventurous or up for a challenge I’m feeling :3

Also goes without saying that online video tutorials would have probably helped—I’m just stubborn & prefer taking hands on approach sometimes. Learning any new program is gonna be overwhelming and scary at first, it is normal! I don’t think anything bad about AlightMotion. Just not for me at the moment. Was fun to play with while it lasted

Self Aware Timekeeper Cookie X Reader

(teeper teeper teeper!!! A Round Fluffy teeper!!)
(Croissant edition here)
You can’t help but feel that there’s something off with your game.
Is one of your cookies… alive?
Timekeeper doesn’t make her presence obvious at first. She simply watches you play, ever so subtly messing with you sometimes.
It’s only ever things like adding a little lag sometimes, or making buttons disappear.
She finds your reactions hilarious! Not like she can do anything else anyways. Nobody else in the game is alive like her. Not even her little mechanic.
One day, she gets caught. Be it you noticing one of her lines is different or seeing her mess with your game, the jig is up. You know she’s alive now.
Even when you get to know her more, and her affection inevitably reaches 1000+, she’s still very mischievous and still loves messing with you.
She’s very curious about human activities. Placing your phone down while you’re doing anything and letting her watch is something she likes.
Unlike Croissant, she can leave the app! She acts like one of those shimejis, running around on your phone and throwing things.
Sometimes, when you leave your phone, she’ll start listening to music and chilling. Either that or start playing the other games on your phone. She fuckin’ loves match 3 games. Give her like, Witch’s Castle or Candy Crush, she’ll be all over that.
Your phone clock is NEVER right anymore. It’s always wacky and off-sync. It would be annoying, but Timekeeper probably doesn’t mean to mess with it too much. Probably.
She’s not entirely sure if she’s just a Timekeeper who accidentally traveled to this timeline and couldn’t get out somehow or if she was always in your phone, but she tries not to think about it.
She never says it outright, but she longs for your touch, and to actually be able tofeel you. It deeply distresses her that you’re the only person she can really talk to, and that her little mechanic and little gunman and all her other employees aren’t real.
Sometimes she laments how powerless she is, how much she can’t mess with time as much as she wants anymore or float through timelines freely.
But she’s not the type to show it at all, in fact, you probably wouldn’t ever know she felt that way unless you managed to catch her at a bad time.
She’s very clingy, actually. If you’re away from your phone for too long and don’t tell her why she’ll start spamming it with notifications trying to get you to respond.
But who can blame her? You’re quite literally her only source of companionship.
If you do tell her why, she’ll still be a little disappointed about it.
Like, what’s she supposed to do without you? Play Candy Crush all day? Sure, but that would get booooring. She misses being able to mess with people.
She hates the whole self aware character thing. It’s restricting, it makes her feel insignificant, and she hates it.
There is one thing she really likes about being self aware, though.
And that’s that she’s FINALLY MORE POWERFUL THAN MILLENNIAL TREE!! BECAUSE HE’S YOU KNOW, NOT REAL!!!
She will not stop telling you that fact by the way!

I get the feeling that even with The Winds of Winter the story is not going to progress all that much and that's why GRRM is hesitating on wrapping up whatever he's written so far and getting the book out.
Think about it -
There's supposedly 5 battles in TWoW. FIVE! We have the Battle of Ice up North, the battle of fire in Essos, two battles over at the Storm's End (One with JC/Aegon taking SE and the other with the Tyrell forces laying siege) and one at Oldtown (Hightower Vs Euron)
He apparently has an entire novel worth of story written for Arya in Braavos. After all the editing and cutting down I think Arya's story could end with her just entering Westeros.
Same with Daenerys - so much story to wind up in Essos that she's going to end TWoW by reaching Westeros. Lots of Tyrion POV chapters describing stuff.
With the series' two lead female characters only getting to Westeros by the end of the book, there's not much plot important that can happen without them there.
Jon will probably be only resurrected at the end of TWoW - which means lots of Ghost and Melisandre POV at the Wall. So he's out for the count as well.
Jaime/Brienne/LSH with Edmure and co being freed.
KL with Cersei trying to wrench back power and a couple of chapters of Sansa and Littlefinger and Harry the Heir in the Vale.
The North can be where we see some changes with Davos/Rickon returning and the dynamics of the Northern houses and Stannis/Theon and how that is resolved.
I think the only character where there will be - where there SHOULD be - actual story progress is Bran Stark. He is the only character positioned for the actual relevant plot and has been lagging behind so far. And it's about time the White Walker/Others story starts moving.
IMO Bran will have the most POV chapters in TWoW and given that GRRM has repeatedly mentioned that he finds Bran the hardest to write, that's where the delay is coming from. The Bran chapters. Likely GRRM sits down to write a Bran chapter, writes a word, gives up and then tries again after a month.
Also yes, it's pure copium when I keep imagining GRRM sincerely trying to finish the books...

Lucy's telepathic connection with her spirits is so underused, especially because it would let her grow her bond with her spirits without having to summon them
My girlfriend is a DID system, so all my thoughts about this are DID adjacent lmao
Just living life:
Lucy wakes up and has a debate with Cancer about which outfit she wears. This is daily and nonnegotiable
Levy spots her best friend when she comes into the guild and excitedly walks up and greets her, only for Lucy to not respond at all. She tries a couple of times, seeing that Lucy is clearly spacing out, only for Lucy to jump when she sees Levy. Apologizing because she was talking to Aries and forgot the outside world existed for a few seconds there.
Lucy is walking with her team. Natsu and Gray are arguing, Erza is teaching Wendy how to read maps or something (and also contemplating murdering the two behind her), and Lucy, who was lagging in the back, randomly burts out laughing bc Gemini told her a joke
Lucy and Loke are sitting pretty far away from each other at the guild, and both of them stand up to start shouting at each other because they absolutely got into an argument (some massively stupid shit, probably like which outfit Mirajane modeled in this week's edition of sorcerer's magazine was the best stupid shit) and they accidently scare the shit out of everyone around them
Lucy dances around on the river bank edge, scaring the poor guys that always warn her not to fall because Lyra is playing music for her in her head
She is literally never late to anything. Never over sleeps. Never. This is 100% because of Horologium and Capricorn and 100% agaisnt her will, but it does give her an impeccable reputation so she's not too mad
If you think Aquarius, Loke, Virgo, and Gemini wouldn't pop in to randomly give commentary on her life, you'd he so wrong. Their all nosey ass bitches and the celestial spirit world is boring, they need their drama somehow
Aquarius will randomly pop up when Lucy talks to a cute boy to ask her why she isn't shooting shot, much to Lucy's loathing. It gets worse when Loke starts doing the same thing but for women. Why are you bi yourself Lucy??? She hates them both
Gemini will show up, say the most impulsive terrible idea ever, and then immediately leave, just letting Lucy sit with that. Have a nice rest of your day. That or they say some gruesome shit while she's in the middle of a fight. Kids, please lighten up
Lucy knows in her heart that when she asks a rhetorical question and Virgo answers that Virgo is actively trying to scare her. She fucking has Virgo's number. She can pretend to be emotionless outside of being a masochist, but Lucy knows she's a little fucking shit
While on jobs:
Lucy is fighting a mage with her whip, trying to figure out what kind of magic they're using so she can properly pick a spirit to counter them and Virgo just pops in like "It's wax magic, princess", scaring the living shit out of Lucy but also helping her in the battle
Lucy is wandering around during a job, sees some big footsteps, and Sagittarius is like, "Those are Tarasque tracks." Unprompted and Lucy starts bemoaning her stupid baka life where she has to fight shit like Tarasques
She could set up some truly bullshit turnarounds with Loke's ability to summon himself. No!! Bad guy!!! I'm running to this dead end all alone :( and my hands are nowhere near my keys :( I'm so scared. Pov: Loke appears right the fuck behind them
Not to mention Loke's ability to switch out with other spirits and have other spirits switch out with him??? If other people couldn't hear them talk, they could do all sorts of insane shit. It would be so much fun. That time Loke blinded Bixslow, and she got his ass except more and funnier bc they know it's coming even less
Also, the spirits' ability to shapeshift is underused. Lucy summons Taurus during a guild brawl. Everyone is expecting a bull man, and no one expects a literal giant bull. She wins that fight, thank you
She takes a job in the desert, and Scorpio is like??? Insanely knowledgeable about how to survive, which shouldn't be surprising now that Lucy is looking back on it, but man, is she happy to have someone who knows exactly what their doing
This isn't always helpful. A village describes a problem to her, and all her spirits end up in a round table discussion about what creature or magic is most likely to actually cause this problem, giving her a massive headache. Guys please shut the fuck up and have this conversation literally anywhere else, thank you
#they also give fun suggestions like murdering people. there is no way at least most of her spirits didnt want Hibiki dead on Loke's behalf#this is also the reason why im a Lucy should have less keys truther. more time to devlope each spirit. and their all fucking immortal#they should know shit and be a lot more useful than they are. plus the less she has the more powerful they are ect ect#insted of gold keys looking like something she gets like candy#i mostly included all the spirits bc if i just did the ones i think she should have that felt rude fnjskssjissi#fairy tail#ft#fairy tail lucy#fairy tail celestial spirits#ft lucy#ft celestial spirits#celestial spirits#Celestial spirit magic#ft loke#ft Aquarius#ft virgo#ft gemini

Another update
Hello everyone!
I come bearing news. This is a decision I came to after a month of back and forth, and after consulting some of the people in my personal life. I’ve been thinking about this for much longer, but it is only recently when I really thought of actually doing it.
I know I said I’d switch over to Twine, and I even finished the template (and even submitted it as my final requirement to graduate uni!) but with all the recent happenings in my personal life and being stumped with how much more complicated coding and bug fixing is on Twine, I decided to stick with CSIDE.
While I do still have my own opinions on COG and everything that’s happened a few years ago, CSIDE is still an incredibly helpful and accessible way to get a loved story out. The community is not perfect, but it is one of the most supportive and welcoming communities I’ve ever been in.
Coding is incredibly complicated on Twine, and I don’t mean learning it. I’ve learned it, and I know how to do it, but the tedious way of doing it is making it all difficult to actually write. I like writing fast, I like letting my fingers fly across the keyboard and watching a story come to life on my screen. I like minimalism in my code because too much code makes my vision swim, especially when it’s repetitive. I do like the designing aspect of it, I do love coding CSS, and I am proud of what I’ve finished for it, but I looked at it as a long term project and I felt so exhausted. I felt like I might get burnt out so easily with it. Especially with how stressful the past few months of my life has been.
Not only that, but bug fixing seems next to impossible to me. With CSIDE/Dashingdon (I’m aware it’s gone), it was a simple click and wait to see any game breaking bugs. It was also a simple click, wait, and compute to see the word count/average word count per play through. For Twine, I’ve just been raw dogging the bug fixing on my own and I know I missed a lot with the Prologue + 1/3 of Chapter 1 that I have done in my private files. I use VSCODE, and I know it’s simply finding the red highlights to see any broken links etc, but I think of the branching in the future and the possible circles the story will take, and I don’t think it’ll be that easy.
Apart from that, I’ve already talked about how itch.io wouldn’t work with our internet service provider for months last 2023. This was one of the major things that stalled me from actually doing anything with the game (aside from the blistering heat I’d already talked about, but we recently installed an AC in my + my sister’s rooms and it helps during particularly difficult heat waves). We were asked to pay so much more money monthly just to “unlock” it basically. If I remember correctly, and please do not quote me on this as this was almost two years ago, we were asked to basically double our monthly payment which was absolutely not happening. It hasn’t happened since then, from what I can tell (I rarely visit the site though) but it is still a fear of mine that it’ll randomly stop working again and I’ll have to pay double just to get the game going.
Lastly, I know that Twine can be difficult for readers. The mobile version can be quite clunky (even the well coded ones) and it’s much more accessible for readers to go to HG/COG. I am also taking this into account since my readers’ experience is incredibly important to me. I, too, read on my phone and I admittedly do not do so with the Twine games I enjoy.
Twine, of course, has its pros. I love the customization, I can keep a ton of information for readers to come back to and read if they need a refresher on things. I was warned when I was still on CSIDE that my “stat” screen could start being laggy due to the amount of information in it. With Twine, I can have a codex, and I can have fun with how to present the information without worrying about lag. I loved creating the UI and editing the pages. There are also macros on Twine that obviously do not work with CSIDE—the cycle macro in particular is something I will be sad to let go of. Twine and CSIDE are just vastly different and I think, for TRO at least, CSIDE is the way to go.
With that being said, I am going to go back to working on the CSIDE version of the new story. I’m aware that others think revision kills a project (and I will admit that TRO was in a critical state lol) but I couldn’t go through with the early TRO because I felt that wasn’t the story I was truly trying and wanting to tell. I’ve said that it was a bunch of bullshitting on page, spurred on by mania and love for the characters and the world. I changed a lot, and I’m aware of that. This version will be the final version, barring some revisions just to make things flow better. The story will be final, the characters will be final. I spent the past two years being honest with myself and my ambitions for this game. I’d had to let go of characters, of some arcs and cool background stories, and I had to decide what to actually do.
I will be working on it, and possibly posting the new demo soon. I know I said soon last year, but 2025 was shitty, to say the very least. I will go into a little more detail under the cut, but things were out of my control and I don’t think I’ve had a more draining year than 2025 since… ever. Please understand that what happened in my personal life recently is a big reason why I am sticking with the easier and more familiar code of CSIDE.
I will create the account soon, and I will post the “main post” soon (I am already writing it but I do not want to post until I have Chapter 1 ready). I will update you guys, and will post a final post here before turning this into a locked archive.
For everyone who is satisfied with what’s said up there, thank you and I hope to see you again when the next demo is live. For those who are curious about what’s happened recently, continue on.
I will not be going into details about some of the things because I am uncomfortable with sharing them publicly, but I hope this can shed some light on why it’s been so difficult to update the past two years.
I’ve mentioned here that it was hot in the Philippines last summer 2023, and it was. It was so hot that I was having daily headaches. It was not ideal at all, and we didn’t have AC in our rooms. The heat passed, and I found myself struggling to access itch.io. This went on for months, until I stopped trying late 2023.
Late 2023, I had an episode. I cannot speak much of it since it was literally just a week of me, well, to explain I felt like I was “out” of my body. Everything felt gray, and I felt so detached. It was scary, and I didn’t know what to do, and I’d informed my parents of this but I could do nothing but let it pass because we didn’t know what was happening. I think stress may have caused this, since I was at the time stressed with school work, but it was one of the most terrifying things that has happened to me. It made me want to go back to my psychiatrist and get treated for my illnesses. I’d stopped medication some years ago because they were making me miserable, but this event made me want to go back. And I made plans to go back, I went on my first online appointment with a new doctor and I was getting my blood checked for any other problems (found none that we didn’t already know of), but things halted once more because something life-changing (and not in a good way) had happened to our family. No worries, it wasn’t health related and everyone’s safe, but it wasn’t good. The effects of this situation went on for months (even now, there are lingering effects), and I had to drop a few of my classes and postpone my graduation for a year.
I lost all motivation then. I stopped working on anything but class related projects. I was too busy trying to help with what was happening to really focus on anything else. I was still thinking of the episode I had and wanting to get it possibly checked. This went on for a few months until I started working on the Twine version once more since I decided to make it my final project—the project needed to graduate from my program.
This went well, as I already mentioned. I was working on it semi-regularly, and I had arrived at a point where I thought I could post it soon. January and February of this year were hectic, but thankfully pretty peaceful.
Then March happened, and with it other household/family problems that were too big to ignore. I was once again one of those in charge of making sure things were okay, and I don’t know. I really do not want to give more details since these are family problems, but they were so stressful that I was nauseous and losing sleep over this. What made it worse is that, before the situation even concluded (caused it to conclude without any real “solution”, even), one of our dogs got sick with a blood parasite despite having flea medication. We caught the symptoms a little too late, and it had already affected her liver. We were in and out of the vet clinic for weeks, and for some days it felt like she was getting better, but she unfortunately passed early May. The same month, our senior dog caught a virus and similar to the other dog, we did everything we could to save him but he unfortunately passed. It was peaceful—poetic even, as he’d passed on the day of the previous dog’s birthday and as the sun was setting, we were all there with him as he took his last breath. It was easier to accept compared to the other dog’s death because he was old, and I suppose the previous heartbreak had made us all more accepting. Still, it was painful since they were both with us for many, many colorful years and we love and miss them each day. We’ve become quite protective over the remaining dogs since then, and it is honestly making my anxiety spike lol.
The kicker is that all of this happened around finals’ week. My sister and I were swamped with deadlines and all this was happening during then. I was busy with the Twine version and hurrying the process because not being able to pass it this semester would’ve meant I’d delay my graduation once more. Thankfully, my adviser was understanding and I managed to pass the project. If things all go according to plan, I will be graduating after this semester!
As you can see, it was a difficult few years. A part of me thought maybe the game was cursed, since problems seemed to have appeared every time after I started becoming more serious with working on it. I thank the tremendous effort I’d put into learning myself and my triggers and how to deal with the symptoms of my illnesses because I don’t think I could’ve survived the past two years without that, and I definitely don’t think I’d go back to working on this game without that.
I apologize for the silence, I was busy trying to survive all the curveballs life has thrown my way. I don’t know what tomorrow brings, but if what happened the past few months has not made me want to give up on this game, I don’t think anything will.
That being said, thank you for being patient and thank you for loving the game. I hope I see you guys next time.

Writing Notes: Structural Edit
The structural edit is the process that comes first, after a manuscript is completed. Sometimes also called substantive or developmental editing,
It involves looking at the ‘big picture’ elements of the narrative and characters, and examining which of these elements are working and which could be improved, cut or changed altogether.
It evaluates the novel as a whole, and determines how well its components deliver its message/theme/narrative.
It does not address issues of spelling and grammar; these changes occur in a copyedit after all the bigger structural issues have been identified and addressed.
A structural edit focuses on literary devices such as:
Pacing
Is the narrative always moving forward?
What parts of the story lag and slow the reader down?
Does the story progress at the most appropriate pace?
Does the pacing suit the genre and target reader?
Can anything be cut without affecting the story?
Is there enough build-up? Enough action?
Character Development/Characterisation
Are the characters authentic and well developed?
Do they have realistic motivations and relationships with one another?
Are they true to their personality throughout the novel?
Plot
Is the plot plausible? Realistic and believable?
Does it make sense?
Are there any gaping plot holes that need fixing?
How does it leave the reader feeling? Satisfied? Frustrated? Wanting more?
Dialogue
Is this authentic?
Does each character have their own distinct way of speaking?
Structure
Does the book start at the most appropriate part of the story?
Could it be improved by starting elsewhere?
Has the author used structural devices, like changes in perspective, that aren’t working?
Readability/Flow
How does the story work as a whole?
Are there sections that jar or contradict others?
Does it digress too many times?
Are there places where the author has ‘info-dumped’?
Writing Style
Does the style of writing suit the genre?
Is the language overly flowery and verbose?
Could you add more lyrical elements to the manuscript?
Voice/Tense
Are the voice and tense authentic?
Are they consistent throughout the manuscript?
Setting
Is there enough scene setting for the reader to place themselves within the story?
Is your world building also sufficient?
Point of View
Is the current POV the most appropriate choice for this story?
Is it consistent throughout?
Does the POV change too much or unnaturally?
Themes
Are these appropriately handled?
Do they suit the genre and target reader?
Is there more the author could do to develop them?

MacksDramaticShenanigans
“How’d it go?” Buck asks as they reach the Jeep. He jams his thumb into the button on the fob — has to really dig his nail in to get it to work, it’s so worn down— and the locks click open. “Good,” Eddie answers, sliding into the passenger seat. He runs his tongue over his left molars. Practices his bite. Bares his teeth at Buck in the kind of smile a seven year old Christopher used to flash all the time. “Easy. It was just a filling.” “No pain then?” Buck asks and the engine purrs to life. He switches the gear to reverse. “Nope, they numbed me up good. Still feels weird, though,” Eddie says, touching his fingertips to the left side of his upper lip. He prods at it carefully, barely feels it. “Kind of heavy. Like it’s on a lag or something.” He chuckles even though it kind of sucks. “Don’t know how I’m supposed to kiss anyone with only half a working mouth.” Buck laughs. Puts the car into drive and pulls towards the main road. “Who’re you supposed to be kissing anyway?” Without thinking, Eddie replies, “You, I hope.” Then freezes.
today, i had to get a filling. the entire time i was in that chair, i was thinking about my best friend eddie diaz. two hours later, this fic was born <3

Once the Takamuras and their friends have reached the beach, Riley takes Haruo to build a sandcastle while Stephanie checks in with her friend and former college roommate Tess, as well as greeting Tess's new girlfriend Tammy. Stephanie’s pleasantly surprised when Tammy hugs her, and she grins at Tess as Tammy blushes, saying that she's always been a hugger and should've asked. "It's okay, I don't mind." Stephanie says, noticing how Tess can't stop looking at Tammy, her eyes soft. She grins to herself but doesn't mention it.
Meanwhile, Nancy says hi to her family friend, and secret crush, Emily. "I like your bathing suit, it has such a cool pattern and style," she says shyly. "Thanks Nan, I bought it with my mom at Simsa," Emily says, shading her brown eyes from the sun. "I like yours too, the little skirt thingy is cute and the color suits you." She says with a smile, and Nancy grins widely. "Oh, um, thanks," she says casually. She wants to ask if Emily is dating anyone, but doesn't know how to bring it up without sounding too curious/weird. "Want to head down to the pier and talk?" Emily asks, and Nancy's heart races, "Sure, let me just ask my mom," she says, and Emily nods.
Edit: I forgot that we can't swim in Brindleton's beach, and I was like oh shoot they could've just stayed in their hot weather outfits instead of me having to change every sim into their swimwear. Still, it was a fun day out and I was just glad my game wasn't lagging as badly. 🤔😊

Making use of the Farm Expansion!! I'm a little miffed that it was raining, but I didn't want to bother waiting for sunny weather to take pictures since they're just concepts for inspiration.
First is a Greenhouse design with a bump out because I didn't like how the arch was covering the tilled land.
The arch on the top is in line with the wall and I just hid the gap with trellises. I like how the small pavers create a little border without being so overbearing like the large pavers. The size of the tilled land is made to accommodate the new Water Sprite Statues.
Next is another Greenhouse design but with four identical entrances. One can pick and choose where to place their entrances depending on where they want their paths. I also included four chests for crops, but the greenhouses may need more experimentation.
The side entrance arches are not quite centred because of their size and I wanted to minimize the gaps in the walls (but maybe they could be moved a half step down...I didn't check for certain). I also placed the small pavers closer to the tilled land—a half step inward—which is great because I think that will prevent grass from growing around it.
I would like to make a larger greenhouse but MAN are those walls expensive! 3 clay and 3 stone each? For this project, I spent over 6000t on purchasing clay. The small pavers on the other hand cannot be solved with money because they require 1 shard each which is not available to purchase. I have 10 shards left out of all the shards I've collected since I started playing the game...
Anyway, here is a little storage shed design:
This is just like my other storage shed but with the small paver border which I think is pretty nice. If you are low on shards, you can just make it like my previous shed design I posted that doesn't use small color pavers.
I did demolish each build before doing the next to save space and materials where I learned that the pickaxe can be charged up and demo a bunch at once which is such a time saver.
I also have a little gripe...I don't have all the craftable items yet and the crafting menu is already lagging. It's not horrible, but I think there needs to be changes so that every single category doesn't have to be passed through to find the category I want. Or maybe there should be different crafting stations to separate them like a stoneworks station and a gardening station for stone pavers etc or faux plants.a
Anyways, I hope someone finds these designs inspirational for their own FoM farm. Personally I want to make big changes because I don't like where I placed some things in relation to other things. There are more updates to come, so I think I will wait and just brainstorm ideas on my new plot of land for now. At least I can put all my animals in daycare while I mess around with this.
[edit] I just figured out that I can make Shards at the stonr refinery station, oh thank goodness, that's going to be a huge help in crafting the little paving stones.
#fields of mistria#fom#fields of mistria farm#mistria inspo#mistria decor#I'm a little tired#so maybe I'll add a list of items on the ALT text later

how to write a diabetic character: CGM edition
is your diabetic character wearing a CGM? do they have to? CGMs these are Continous Glucose Monitors that can detect how much sugar is in your bloodstream.
How are they different than tradtional fingerprick (blood) tests? they take blood sugar readings 24/7, and provide you with how your sugars are doing at all times, rather than just at that moment. This leads to tremendously better control over blood sugar.
The way they work is that they can "sample" your blood sugar by testing your subcutaneous tissue for sugar levels then adjusting that value.
However, they're less accurate than a fingerprick (blood) reading and will often "lag" behind by about 15 minutes.
SO if you have a character who is expereincing low or high blood sugar - they'd get an alarm on their CGM, and then they might take a fingerprick reading to make sure. CGM false alarms DO exist and it can cause some very annoying situations.
A less careful/depressed/struggling/burnt out character might A. not care or "sleep through" alarms B. not double check with a finger prick C. not care that they're wearing a CGM - pump into stuff or just rip it off (although they are very expensive!).
can you mute them? yes, and a character might choose to do this while they're sleeping, having an exam, or if they know they're about to fuck up their blood sugar.
how long do they last? the libre ones last 14 days. the dexcom ones last up to 10 days.
can you shower with them? yes
can you swim with them? yes
can you have sex with them on? yes, and i've read very funny anecdotes from diabetics having to pause during sex because their cgm was beeping
are they expensive? yes! sometimes, they're covered by insurance, but not completely. If a character is in poverty, or do not have insurance, they likely would have to rely solely on fingerpricks.
Who usually uses CGMs? they are very widespread between T1Ds and are increasingly being used by T2Ds as well.
can you share the readings on multiple devices? yes! your character might share their info with their SO, parents, roommates, close friends...etc. It is genuienly one of the most telling signs of a close relationship between people - because those people will see your "mistakes" and decisions.
where do you stick them? the libre ones (circular ones) officially just go on the back of your arm. The dexcom ones can go on just about anywhere that's "soft" - stomach, thighs, back of arm, chest...etc.
does putting them on hurt? sometimes! the way they are installed involves a needle going into the skin then sitting in the subcutaneous tissue. This can sometimes cause some bleeding, and soreness for a few hours.
Often times the process is completely painless, but this is not the case for everyone. A thinner character might struggle to find a place "cushy" enough for a cgm.
can you put them on your own? yes the process is made for one person to stick it on, but i've seen some couples on instagram act all romantic and sappy about applying it together, so that should give you some ideas for your diabetic characters' budding romances ;)
Some CGMs are just naturally faulty, i'd say about 4 sensors is a busted one, and in that case you'll have to replace them - which most companies just do without any hassle.
do they work with insulin pumps? some insulin pumps can work in tangent with CGMs and provide feedback for the user to automatically generate the correct doses of insulin, depending on their current blood sugar.
do they come off easily? depends on who you're asking. some people swear up and down that they never last and have to put on patches, which are admittedly very cute. Weather, clothing, and how clumsy a character is all factor in this. For me personally i just put them on raw and keep them together by sheer willpower.
CGMs can cause anxiety in diabetics. The constant flow of information can easily burnout people, and this can possibly be the case for any diabetic character you might write. Seeing arrows going down or up can be very distressing, especially knowing how painful some of the consequences are. I personally take breaks for both myself and my wallet from using CGMs to avoid burn out.
nonetheless, CGMs are WONDERFUL pieces of technology that have personally made me much happier as a diabetic, freer and a lot more independent.
does your character want their CGM to show? lots of people, including myself don't like revealing their CGMs - but your character might like showing them off!
and lastly - my favorite thing about CGMs - taking them off and having a "naked" shower once a month where i dont have to worry about it coming off. - They look like this:

Reader and Luke not being together yet (even tho theyre both stupidly in love with the other (duh)) and reader falls asleep on Luke in the jet after a rough case!!
statistical anomaly
pairing; luke alvez x fem!reader
summary; after a case drags you to the jet late at night, you fall asleep on luke's shoulder but not before overhearing him talk about you
warnings; fluff, tired reader, team being absolute chaotic little gremlins, spencer reid (my beloved <3)
notes; i saw this and despite how ill i feel (nothing is new there, literally been dying for six months straight(not actually, just feels that way)), i was kicking my feet and giggling because STOP, i need this and want this in my life. so, i may have written a little drabble hehe, is it edited? no. is there mistakes? probably, i'm tired. but the thoughts of luke alvez never stop so enjoy
(also i made this before a case instead of after bc i just honestly, idk, i just did, so whoops but same vibes)
masterlist
It was late when you were called in for a case. You had just got home, texting Luke that you were home safe (like you always did) when Garcia called. She profusely apologised for calling you in so late but then asked you to come back. You did, without question. It wasn’t Garcia’s fault and there were lives to save; even if you were exhausted.
A soft sigh escaped your lips as you settled into the jet. You were sat around the table. Luke was next to you and Emily and Reid were sat across from you. You all had the case files out, the laptop with Garcia on it was on the table too. Emily began to run you all through the case, preliminary discussions passing quickly without much of a word from you.
You were exhausted and your brain was lagging behind so you knew it was better to stay quiet for now. Once you were done, everyone slipped away into their own little group. Reid and Emily were discussing the case while you simply closed the case file. Luke glanced down at you.
“Everything okay?” He asked softly. You ran your hand across your face before you nodded your head but you weren’t convincing him or anyone. He gently took a hold of your wrist, resting it against the table, “Do you want a coffee?” He added after a moment. You shook your head.
“I’m fine, really,” You attempted to convince him but he wasn’t. He glanced around before his gaze returned to you, “Talk me through the background,” You requested. Luke looked at you for a moment and he eventually gave in to you. You were giving him the eyes and he couldn’t ever resist that. So, he began to read through the background that Garcia had managed to compile.
You really tried to listen but listening to Luke’s voice was calming you down. You felt the exhaustion seeping back in and you let your head rest against Luke’s arm. He - obviously - didn’t have a problem with it. Any excuse to have you close was good enough for him. He loved holding you, touching you, keeping you close.
“Did you get any of that?” He teased softly, noticing how your eyes had fallen closed. You mumbled something but he didn’t catch any of it. You were clearly exhausted and so he shuffled so that you could rest more comfortably against his shoulder, “I’ll wake you when the flight lands,” He whispered softly into your ear. You hummed happily in response before you let sleep take you.
It was hard for Emily and Reid not to notice. Reid was the first to suspect that there was something going on between the two of you but whenever he brought it up, he was shut down. But the rest of the team were catching on now.
“You know, a friendship, on average, takes 21.9 months to turn romantic,” Reid stated and Luke lifted his gaze up, cocking an eyebrow, “But you’ve been friends for nearly three years, so you’re both a statistical anomaly,” He added. Luke tried his best not to shift but it was clear that he was baffled by Reid’s sudden statistics.
“Reid,” Emily warned. It wasn’t that she didn’t want Reid to talk because she did enjoy hearing him but she didn’t want to make a situation out of this right now. They had other things to worry about.
“Nothing is going on between us,” Luke responded. A scoff escaped Emily’s lips involuntarily and Luke’s head snapped towards her, “I’m letting her sleep,” He defended. Emily tried to distract herself from this conversation by looking at the case file but she was still gonna be nosy.
“You let her touch you more than anyone else on the team. You also regularly watch her while she’s working and you’re much more engaged when she speaks and you’re more likely to defend her when one of us fights against her theories. You might not have something going on but you clearly love her and she loves you,” Reid stated as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. Luke’s eyes widened and he glanced down at you before he looked back at Reid.
“How do you know that?” Luke asked, the emotions warring in his chest as he tilted his head to the side slightly.
“Oh, she told me,” A smile appeared on his face and you bit your lip as you still rested against Luke’s shoulder. You had been asleep for a little bit but Reid and Luke speaking had roused you from the brink. You had been silently listening but Reid noticed you begin to smirk slightly.
“Stop talking about me, please,” You mumbled, your tone thick was exhaustion. Luke’s eyes widened and Reid chuckled softly, “I’m trying to get some sleep.” Luke looked down at you and then back at Reid and he seemed completely dumb-founded. He was at a loss for words. It was cute and that is why you just let yourself settle back down and go back to sleep. You needed it.

Where Love Rests
The Nublar Six visit Italy again two years later. Yaz decides it's the perfect place to propose to her girlfriend.
Two quick notes:
1. I still kind of want to name these chapters but haven't been able to come up with names I like and didn't want that to hold me back from posting, so I may come back and edit in chapter titles later.
2. I can't really decide what I think Brooklynn's romantic situation will look like by the end of the series, so I'm leaving it up to reader interpretation whether she's with Darius, Kenji, or single.
Chapter One: A Thought in The Dark
It was nice to be back in Italy under better circumstances.
For one thing, the Camp Fam was here by choice this time. Rather than crashlanding into the freezing environment on the heels of a devastating revelation, they'd been planning this trip for months, just for fun. Just to see Gia and Nonna, as none of them save for Ben had in two years, and do something exciting as a group.
They'd all been making the effort to do that more these past couple years. See each other more often, share more positive experiences rather than just near-death ones. Though it had taken some time to fully stabilize the rocked foundations of their group after the Brooklynn/Broker/Biosyn incident, they were all finally back in a good place, and none of them were keen on starting to drift again.
They took their weekly check-ins more seriously than they ever had. Looked for meet-up opportunities whenever they could. Had annual New Years parties at Darius's cabin and summer barbecues at Sammy and Yaz's ranch. Planned group events as frequently as finances and schedules would allow, whether it was meeting up for someone's birthday or a genuine vacation such as this.
It struck Yaz long before arrival that none of them had really gotten to enjoy Italy the first time. Brooklynn hadn't even been there, and the rest of the group had been dealing with the fallout of exactly that. This time, the circumstances were much more conducive to having a good time.
The plane ride went smoothly enough that Yaz could spend most of it dozing on Sammy's shoulder. Upon landing, they were greeted by a beautiful, mild summer day and Gia waiting to ambush them all with tight hugs before driving them back to her house.
There, they were given approximately sixty seconds to set their things down, at which point Nonna immediately began trying to feed them. She'd made enough risotto for a small army, and it became quickly apparent that no one was getting away from the table without having thirds.
After lunch, they were able to settle down in the living room for a while, sleepy and somewhat jet lagged. They chatted quietly amongst themselves and with Gia, who was far more animated, for about an hour before Kenji fished a deck of Uno cards out of his bag. Amidst all the arguing about which house rules improved the game and which were unbearably annoying, they managed to play twice in two hours.
By then, they were all finally awake enough to move their bags out of the living room and into the places they would be sleeping for next week and a half. Ben, Darius, and Kenji would occupy the guest room/office as they had the first time; no hassle there. For easier distribution of space, Gia had decided to share Nonna's room for the duration of the visit so that the other girls could stay in hers.
They would set up a sleeping pad for Brooklynn later, but presently, the three of them only ducked inside momentarily to drop their things near the bed Yaz and Sammy would be sharing. Yaz lingered near it a bit longer than the other two, hyperaware that the last time she'd been in this room, sitting on this bed, she and Sammy had been having the most consequential fight of their entire relationship.
Things had worked out quickly enough, but she couldn't help remembering how she'd been standing a mere two feet away from where she was now when she'd called Sammy a coward. Even now, she recalled their exact positions when Sammy had called things off between them, however briefly. For a few seconds, it completely soured Yaz's mood, and she began to weigh the pros and cons of asking to sleep on the couch instead.
"Yaz?" Then, Sammy called out to her from the doorway. Brooklynn had already left the room, and she was just waiting on Yaz to do the same. "You okay, hon?"
The heaviness that had tried to settle over her began to fade. However awful it had been to experience, that ordeal was long over. They'd patched things up years ago, and Sammy once again looked at Yaz with all the tenderness and affection in the world.
"Yeah," Yaz replied, walking over so that Sammy's outstretched arm could wrap around her back.
"Still tired?" Sammy guessed with a little smile. "I can leave you be if you want to take a nap."
"I'm good." Yaz pressed herself gently into Sammy's side. For the sake of honesty, she added, "just got in my head about something for a second. Nothing serious."
Sammy's brow furrowed slightly. "You'll tell me if it keeps bothering you?"
"Of course." That was their rule now. Neither of them ever had to talk, but there was a mutual expectation that they should if a troublesome thought kept coming back. This, among other things, had been extremely helpful in their efforts to strengthen their relationship.
Yaz grinned as Sammy kissed her lightly on the forehead, and the two of them headed back out to the living room with the others.
For the rest of the evening, things were pretty relaxed. The fun vacation experiences would begin tomorrow, but for now, everyone was too tired to do much more than show Gia all the photos of grown-up Smoothie they'd accumulated and eat what they could of the frankly obscene batch of pasta Nonna gave them for dinner.
They didn't manage to stay up very late after that. Before long, Yaz was tucked under Sammy's arm in a bed that was just slightly too small for there to be any space between them, with Brooklynn snoring softly on the floor a few feet away. Sammy and Brooklynn had both conked out quickly, but Yaz, now alone with her thoughts, was still awake.
It wasn't quite as bad as the first time, but she still couldn't help thinking about it. Everything she regretted from their previous visit, as well as the year before. Every mistake she'd made that had almost cost her the most important thing in her life.
Though, in a way, she supposed that terrible night had ultimately helped them fix things. Unearthed buried feelings, revealed festering wounds, showed them in no uncertain terms what was at risk if they didn't start communicating honestly. As much as it hurt, it had allowed them to come back together with a new perspective. A realization that hiding their feelings to spare the other's only bred resentment, and that if they wanted to be on the same page, they had to be willing to listen rather than just trying to push and convince.
Their brief time apart, spent mulling over their missteps, had helped prepare them to approach things differently after their unexpected reunion in Biosyn Valley. Yaz had gone to Sammy, realizing how her lack of initiative had hurt them, but let her do most of the talking. Fully heard her out before explaining her side, not expecting to change how Sammy felt, but wanting them to thoroughly understand each other.
It had been enough, in the moment. Reaffirmed that for all their faults, they loved each other enough to try. They went through their ordeal at Biosyn as partners; a team determined to work.
When the time finally came to go home, they knew they still had work to do, and they had committed themselves to doing it properly. Yaz moved back home to Texas. Sammy agreed to attend therapy together. Though it had been a process, with setbacks and bad days like any other, they'd learned. After a few months, it was like they'd never been apart at all.
And now, things were more or less perfect between them. Their occasional arguments were minor. They were much better at airing grievances before things got worse than they needed to be. And perhaps most importantly, the distance between them had closed.
They woke up beside each other every morning and fell asleep in each other's arms every night. Talking was easy, and silence was comfortable. They were back to quiet mornings and date nights and horseback riding. Dancing around the kitchen while Sammy hummed a love song and their dinner burned behind them. Touching tenderly and amorously.
When things got heavy, they were there to lighten each other's burdens. When things were good, they each knew they had the perfect companion for whatever the day would bring.
Their connection was stronger than ever before, and frankly, Yaz had no idea what she would do without it. Being with Sammy was... everything. It was all she wanted, all the time. She couldn't imagine any future in which this wasn't her life. Sammy was her best constant. The one thing, above all else, that she knew she wanted to keep forever.
Forever. For the rest of their lives.
Yaz stared up at the ceiling, listening to Sammy's slow, soft breaths by her ear. They were so close she could feel Sammy's heartbeat.
It came to her very suddenly. A thought she'd had in passing a few times before but always put aside for later because she had known they weren't ready. Now, with things as good as they were, it seemed a perfect time to start thinking about it again.
She wanted to get married. Grow old together. Maybe have a kid or two at some point.
She took a breath, realizing she was starting to get ahead of herself. But... yeah. She wanted to get married.
Turning over to the degree that she could without disturbing Sammy, Yaz silently observed the sleeping face of her partner. For all the time it had been a fleeting thought, she couldn't get it out of her head now. This woman; her wife. Their future secured and celebrated.
Suddenly, she wanted nothing more than to make it happen.

WHAT ARE SUBLIMINALS?

subliminals are audio affirmations hidden under music or sounds of nature, they are aimed at changing internal attitudes, changing internal and external states
there are subliminals aimed at correcting health in all its manifestations (there are "local" subliminals that are aimed at healing a specific organ/state); there are also subliminals aimed at transforming consciousness, any external characteristics and defects, etc.
it is worth saying that there are countless subliminals, it is only important to know which subliminals can be useful!
HOW DO SUBLIMINALS WORK?
passing through our consciousness, which does not perceive voice instructions disguised under various sounds, so positive affirmations get into our subconscious, where they are fixed. our consciousness is a unique mechanism and sometimes it is capable of independently putting up blocks, thereby preventing ordinary affirmations that we ourselves pronounce from being fixed. therefore, we can say that subliminals have the ability to deceive our consciousness
WHAT ARE THE RULES FOR EFFECTIVE LISTENING?
it is worth starting with the fact that there are two main types of subliminals:
subliminals created on the basis of binaural beats (usually, this is indicated in the description of the subliminals), such subliminals are usually listened to either in a calm state or while running/walking and in both headphones;
subliminals created on the basis of ordinary affirmations disguised as music/nature noise. such subliminals can be listened to anywhere and in any way: you can listen without headphones, you can listen while you are doing your own thing (writing, drawing, cooking, washing, etc. - which, by the way, you can’t do when listening to subs based on binaural beats)
you can listen to subs as many times as you like + include listening to them in your list of “daily rituals” - for the desired results to appear faster, consistency and regularity are necessary!
how not to get hung up on the results and how to get maximum results after listening to any sub (in general, I want to combine these two topics, because if you do not get hung up on the results, then, a priori, you get what you want)
───── ⋆⋅♡⋅⋆ ─────
what advice could I give, based on my experience of listening to subs?
work with thinking, first of all! - add subliminals to your playlist that remove internal blocks and limitations; add subs that help your subconscious "earn" at full capacity; add boosters; also, do not underestimate meditation (at one time they really helped me calm down and achieve harmony, from which the subs began to act more effectively)
try to just lag behind yourself. yes, that's right. continue listening to subliminals, but remove all sorts of expectations from your head. the only thoughts you should have are "yes, I know that the results WILL STILL BE", "I just know that EVERYTHING WILL HAPPEN EXACTLY THE WAY I WANT"
stop going to the mirror every second and looking at how your appearance has/hasn't changed, stop waiting for anything, and just believe that everything will happen exactly the way you want. the only thing you can't know is the time frame in which certain changes will happen to you. and there will still be cuts after listening to subs, it's just that for some people they will be more or less pronounced
also, in order not to get hung up on cuts, you can find yourself a certain hobby (my hobby is video editing, where I am very distracted from all sorts of thoughts and listen to subs during it, just like that)
I would advise people who are not very receptive to subs to turn on subs at night and fall asleep with them, because our subconscious is on different frequencies during sleep and functions a little differently, being in a state of rest. therefore, as an option, listening to this can also be a good catalyst for the manifestation of the desired results
healthy sleep is also important (7-8 hours a day)
───── ⋆⋅♡⋅⋆ ─────
YOU WILL BE OKAY, I KNOW IT!! I LOVE YOU!! <3
