*IT'S NOT JUST ABOUT CALORIES* by @oualidzaim ⠀⠀ ➖⠀ Yes, the first step for losing weight is to eat less calories. And yes, you can lose weight eating quarter pounders every day if you end up eating less calories than your body burns (aka being a caloric deficit).⠀ ➖⠀ And yes, a calorie is a calorie. But not all calories are created equal. If you want to lose the good kind of weight (FAT) and do it in a way that gives you energy and improves your health, IT MATTERS A LOT where the calories come from.⠀ ➖⠀ In this infographic I'm comparing a quarter pounder with cheese to a chicken salad. As you can see, both have the same amount of calories, which means they'll have the same impact on your energy balance and ultimately your weight loss.⠀ ➖⠀ However, the quarter pounder, which has lower food quality, unhealthy macronutrients (trans fats), and very little micronutrients, will not have the same impact on your body composition or health/energy as the chicken salad will.⠀ ➖⠀ Not to mention, you'll be hungry 45 minutes after eating that quarter pounder, when the chicken salad can fill you up for at least 3 hours...which in the end, will help you sustain your diet a lot more easily. ⚠️ Protein is very important for 💪🏼 growth, tissue repair, and immune function. ⚠️ how about the amount of quality protein in your diet? is the single most important calorie that influences your metabolic rate, favorably influencing weight loss. ⚠️Quality protein also helps you sustain muscle 💪🏼 during weight loss, improve muscle fitness, immunity, and antioxidant function.
People often ask me about my diet, and basically is lots of protein (shakes, waffles, pancakes, eggs, lean meats, fish, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese), I add some good carbs (fruits, vegetables, some grains, ezequiel bread, brown rice) and good fats (avocados, raw almonds, peanut butter). STRAWBERRIES & CHOCOLATE PROTEIN WAFFLE
INGREDIENTS
3 large egg whites 1/3 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk 1/3 cup oatbran or ground oatmeal 1 tsp vanilla extract ½ tsp cinnamon 1 scoop vanilla protein powder (a blend works best, no isolate please) ¼ tsp baking powder Toppings: Strawberries, zero calories Walden farms chocolate syrup, zero cal whipped cream or Greek yogurt
(Note: liquid amount may differ with different protein powders) Preheat waffle iron. Mix flour, protein powder, stevia, baking powder & spices until combined. In another bowl lightly beat eggs, vanilla & milk. Add the wet ingredients into the bowl with dry ingredients and mix until combined. Cook a 1/3 cup of batter in the center of the waffle iron (makes a total of 3). Top with vanilla greek yogurt & cut up strawberries

*ARE ALL CALORIES CREATED EQUAL?* by @marcusricefit⠀ ➖ A calorie is a calorie, because it's simply a unit of energy that doesn't change. However, the foods that contains those calories are not created equal.⠀ ➖⠀ Take two dieters: they both eat 2000 calories each day, which puts them in a small deficit. They will both lose weight because they are in a negative energy balance.⠀ ➖⠀ However, Dieter 1 eats an overall unhealthy diet. They have sugary pancakes for breakfast, hot dogs and sweetened lemonade for lunch, and greasy burgers and fries with soda for dinner. Those types of foods day in and day out: NOT ideal.⠀ ➖⠀ Dieter 2 eats an overall healthy diet. Gets in their protein, focuses on eating healthy fats each day, lots of servings of fruits and veggies, and enjoys some wine and chocolate here and there as well.⠀ ➖⠀ Though they might both lose weight, the process will go exponentially better for Dieter 2. It will be sustainable progress because they are focused on actually fueling and nourishing their body well. They will have more consistent energy, feel more satisfied, sleep better, have a better immune system, and the list goes on.⠀ ➖⠀ That is what it means to live a healthy, sculpted lifestyle. You manage your energy balance, fuel your body, enjoy your food, and train in such a way that you build/maintain muscle while melting unwanted fat.
