"we're under attack!"
"send your troops to protect my people."
"one man could be the difference between victory and defeat."
"the doctor said three cups of tea in the morning and three at night."
"i'm going to... pray some more."
"how lucky can they be? they're dead."
"we're gonna turn this sow's ear into a silk purse."
"you'll bring honour to us all."
"boys will gladly go to war for you."
"boys want girls with good taste."

"you should go after her. she could be killed."
"if you're gonna stay, you're gonna work."
"not a lizard. i don't do that tongue thing."
"if i was my real size your cow here would die of fright."
"i'm just nervous. i've never done this before."
"what are you looking at?"
"i'm gonna hit you so hard it'll make your ancestors dizzy."
"i don't need anyone causing trouble in my camp."
"you forgot your sword."
"for what it's worth, i think you're a great captain."
"you like him, don't you?"
"i should have your head for that."
"the local girls thought you were quite the charmer."
"how about a girl who's got a brain, who always speaks her mind?"
"he thinks he's such a ladykiller."
"i have a girl back home who's unlike any other."
"the only girl who'd love him is his mother."
"you just gave away our position!"
"you are the craziest man i've ever met, and for that i owe you my life."
"a life for a life. my debt is repaid."
"i should never have left home."
"at least you had good intentions."
"are we in this together or not?"
"keep your eyes open. i know they're here."
"your walls and armies have fallen."
"bow to me."
"no matter how the wind howls, the mountain cannot bow to it."
"i've heard a great deal about you."
"you fight good."
"the flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of all."
"you don't meet a girl like that every dynasty."
"would you like to stay for dinner?"
"would you like to stay forever?"

Since some people are STILL doubting that Omega is force sensitive
I’ve compiled a list of all the times she’s shown signs of being force sensitive, mostly in Season 1 and 3
Knew Crosshair was angry, and predicted he would/had already betrayed his brothers
Knew Crosshair was approaching from outside the hanger
Fired a blaster with perfect aim, despite having never held a blaster before
Knew Cid was, well Cid
Knew the electricity eating thing would accept a flashlight
Knew the lizard’s name was ruby
Enjoys meditating- which she learned how to do from a jedi
Her blood accepts the transfer of midi-clorians- literally none of the other clones did, so if hers did, it’s because she already has an excess amount of midi-florian’s
Actually managed to get the flower in time
Knew Ventress liked them
Ventress clearly lied when she stated Omega wasn’t force sensitive
Ventress continues to heavily imply that Omega is in fact, force sensitive
Now that I’ve proven Omega is and always has been force sensitive, thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
Let me know if there are any moments I forgot <3

Platonic yandere yautja x human child reader
Aww dad yautja😊 I didn't write for yautjas in months!! Hopefully u enjoy it!! Also i used they/them for kid. No tw, only cuteness and wholesome dad figure yautja👹 request open
Dad yautja with human kid
Bro is confused ??? Tf??? Why is there a child here??
He either found them abandoned in middle of nowhere or accidentally killed their perents, by 'accidentaly' i mean ofc he wanted to kill them he just didn't know there was a child nearby and now he feels bad
Kinda finds human pups ugly😭 why are you so smol and loud wtf
Dad!yautja after he kinda adopts y/n he gets too overprotective! Like dude won't leave their side at all, especially when you guys are outside; dude will pick them up and just carry around.
Can't cook to save his life, he kinda set kitchen on fire. And humans cant eat raw meat, so now you are on fruit diet for now (and veggies)
Had this parental instinct to teach them everything, how to shoot, find food, basic self-defence, overall taking good care of themselfs. But he kinda likes that he has to provide for them, it gives him control yknow
When he carries them around everywhere! He acually lets them sit on his shoulders or just hang on his neck😓😍
Cant say no to those cute big eyes! Yes he will let them 'decorate' his armor (with glitter and stickers) and he will let them paint his nails and he will lisen to them gossip about their friends.
If his kid is a little artist and walks up to him and says "papa i drew you!" He does not care that he looks like a lizard nor that they didn't color it perfectly. Dude is purring, picking y/n up and he carries this drawing in pocket everywhere
Other yautjas say that he spoils them, but he disagrees! Your a HUMAN baby, i mean yeah your basically one of yautjas now but!!! Your tiny! And your skin is so squishy!!!
He had to learn how to comb their hair cuz at some point y/n simply refused to cut it (me too lil guy) and he respects them so much he won't just do something against them
Kinda wishes he could understand human body language more
Also about body language i can imagine kid just kinda mimicing yatuja body language and habits. Like dad!yatuja will say "child please go to bed its late" the kid will just angry respond with a hiss👹 "hsssss👽🦎" "?????" If yaujtas had eyebrows, he would rise them
If y/n is a girl, and she has her first period? Dude panics! HUHH WHAT BLOOD??? FROM WHERE!?? UHHHH????
Dude tries to be a perfect father figure, he tries to have similar intrests with his kid so they can connect more, but if y/n is totally not into hunting, collecting, nature themed stuff, Yautja is more than happy to catch up with whatever teens are into this days, but he will judge the hell out of tv shows (if they watch any)
I kinda forgot it suppose to be yandere so it turned out to be just wholesome im so sorry
Understands that kid needs privacy but he will just go invisible mode and lurk in shadows! Like what if somone attacks you??? Or worse! What if you meet some humans that he doenst like??? What if they will tell y/n all lies about what 'bad war crimes' he commited and what 'murderous' his kind is!! Those are lies pls dont lisen to humans
No boy/girlfriends!!! Nuh uh!! Your his little baby you cant go doing all those... things... with some human. ugh! this person probably can't even hunt for you!! Or give you nice treasures!! Or build a pretty nest!! Why would you like them my child?? Look at all those trophies i gathered for all those years! You should stay here!
He loves the fact that he lives in some wild ass jungle and y/n cant leave him due to all those dangers around, plus he loves that y/n will always stay tiny(in comparison obviously) and weak so be basically needs to provide for them! Right???
I used x reader tags ONLY to reach bigger audience

okay maybe im just in denial but something really peculiar to me about the sonic 3 trailer is this moment right here
Tumblr media
why are sonic and eggman warping somewhere? where are they warping? whats the plan here?
to me, my assumption of "eggman helping" would be eggman making some robot fighter or mechanical upgrades to team sonic. but why are they Going somewhere? wasnt sonic literally visiting eggmans lab?
my hope is that eggmans "help" is using sonics quil (and later keeping it for himself) to scan all over the world for more beings like sonic that'll help in the fight against sonic. i mean tails was able to track sonic so maybe tails and eggman can both work out a worldwide scanner
which of course leads to my desperate hope of just
Tumblr media
can we still win somehow amy fans please please
i dont think its flat out impossibleee? sonic 2 is two hours long including credits, so maybe likeee
-first arc of the movie is a reintroduction to sonic tails and knuckles lives, GUN showing up to be like "sonic we need ur help", team sonic getting cleared by shadow, and some info on shadows past
-second arc is going to eggman for help, eggman helps them find amy, team sonic meets amy. meanwhile eggman goes back and eventually has his run in with gerald
-third arc is the team getting to know amy a bit more with the humans i forgot the name of, and cuts to flashbacks of shadows past with explanations from GUN
-fourth arc is a 4v1 rematch against shadow, which team sonic manages to win, and we get plenty of interactions between the five characters during this
-fifth arc is eggman and gerald going "surprise we are bad lol", space colony arc, biolizard shenanigans, and then sonic and shadow use the chaos emeralds to use their super saiyan hedgehog yaoi blast (ft. live and learn) on the lizard and the day is saved
ehhhhh Maybe thats like. too much to fit in one movie. gerald makes it REALLY awkward to balance the idea of both shadow and amy being in the movie tbh. plus we gotta account for how much sceentime the obligatory human actors are gonna take up so idk. who knows when theres gonna be 20 minutes of some dude playing tennis or something paramount is not above doing that
im not hopeful at all but itd be nice

Random facts about me that no one cares about
I have double eyelashes and a chest tattoo that says "Death to Rapists" in Latin Additionally, I have dyscalculia, which makes it almost impossible to learn languages or play a musical instrument because Brain Don't Work That Way. So it is annoying when people screech about monolinguals and say we're all lazy or whatever. I've tried multiple times to learn multiple languages and it simply does not work. Get off my back pls (random pet peeve) I studied abroad in Scotland on the prestigious Gilman scholarship and it radicalized me against England The main reason I did my Master's degree in International Relations is because they offered me a free year of tuition. This radicalized me against becoming a politician. As an aside, I did my Master's thesis on international human trafficking. Multiple people have told me I'm like a herding dog because I need to be doing something and get sad if I don't have a task My greatest fear is being electrocuted by stepping into a puddle after a rainstorm I get anxious going to the grocery store but have no problem with public speaking (strange) My favorite job I've ever done was an internship working with refugees (love) My dream vacation would be visiting the lava tube caves under Aokigahara, climbing through Buddha's Nostril in Nara, and then petting all the nice deer at Nara Deer Park I would also like to visit Mongolia and eat all their yummy snacks My most hated household chore is laundry Last year, when I went to Blood Prison, I cried because I didn't get scared and it's supposed to be one of the scariest haunted houses - I have a bizarre immunity to haunted houses because I can't suspend my disbelief Whenever I am in pain, I completely forget about the existence of NSAIDs and instead bitch about being uncomfortable until someone (usually my mom) reminds me that modern medicine is real and may in fact have solutions One time I stapled through my hand with a staple gun because I was trying to repurpose a cabinet drawer into a scratching post for my (now deceased) ferrets I am terrified of amusement park rides where you go up in the air but you don't have your feet on anything, like Windseeker at Cedar Point. My primal lizard brain craves the ground. But rock climbing is fine.
Yeah so that's it thanks

writing this out because my brain has been wrapping around the thought
so like. the whole big issue with the cycle being like literal death and revive video-game style save state is that well. Nothing Can Die. like. ever. does this mean that the population continues to grow infinitely until the world is full? then how does evolution work if natural selection is not there to influence certain survival traits?
we know that creatures evolve; rain worlds creature are explicitly stated to be evolutions of purposed organisms, developed into a more survivable form.
but without permanent death, how is this possible?
WELL. GUESS WHAT MECHANIC I FORGOT ABOUT.
-slams table-
LINEAGING.
when a creature is killed, there is a 33% (or 50% for certain scugs) chance that it respawns. so within the karma-cycle system, it re-cycles i guess idk. we’re still working out the kinks of that whole thing
anyways, when a creature respawns, there is also the chance that it respawns as a higher “tier” of creature. ex. pole plant respawns as a monster kelp.
so this likely means that lineaging is rain world’s method of “natural selection.” if a creature dies enough times, it re-cycles as an evolved form of itself. creatures that survive will maintain that form, while creatures that do not will again re-cycle into a different form until it reaches one that is suitable for the current environment.
the game sort of implies that there is a set order to lineaging (see the order of lizard lineaging from green to red), and that creatures cannot de-lineage into previous forms, but I’d like to think that creatures tend to lineage towards the form most adapted to the current environment. this is why we see no red lizards in Survivor and Monk, since having such a powerful and resource-intensive form would be unsustainable with less spawns and food around. however, if survival becomes impossible without being a red lizard (ex. scug murders you over and over again), then red lizard becomes a suitable lineage option again. meanwhile in Saint’s campaign, strawberry lizards have become a preferable mutation since they’re small and can conserve energy.
for the record, we never see slugcats lineage, even though they’re implied to be descended from the pipe cleaning purposed organisms. this is most likely just due to game design reasons (too many scug variations and changes in gameplay from dying too much) and suddenly learning to handle different scugs on top of already trying to just learn how to play the game is a little much.
but yeah. rain world still gets evolution even when things can’t die permanently because instead of birth causing mutations, it’s rebirth causing mutations. wild.
does this explain why rain world doesn’t have a severe overpopulation issue? absolutely not and i cannot even begin to fathom a reason for this. but i have answered one of my questions and i call that a success!!

Rereading The Book of Shane
So... I lied when I said I would be taking a break from my rereads. Shane's special edition was calling to me, and I gave in. So, we're back to it!
Venom
Yumaris's powers of prophecy are innate, rather than given by her bond with the earthworm. Even in this section, she cryptically references multiple future events, like Zerif's arrival and Shane's participation in the impending war.
I know it wasn't intended this way, but I can't help but imagine that the white rabbit little Shane was chasing before he was bitten by the snake was his mother's spirit animal. The interpretation that the white rabbit is a symbol of his innocent, happy childhood, and the snake is a symbol of the ugliness and pain of the war he threw himself into, makes me think that it being his mother's spirit animal would have been fitting.
I wonder if Shane's dream about the ostrich is foretelling his fate... bonding with Grahv unnaturally, and him one day becoming trapped in Shane's body in much the same way. "People kept their distance. But for Shane there was no escape from the ostrich, because the ostrich was him."
Shane making a desperate plot to sail away to Nilo with his sister... yes, it's the closest land to Stetriol. But also, the significance is not lost on me.
It's revealed in this section that Zerif's bond with the jackal was natural... which I do not support! If Zerif called it many years ago when he was a child, why has he never named it (as revealed in The Return)? Why doesn't he acknowledge its gender, referring to the animal as an "it"? And most importantly, why does it abandon him when the Bile loses its power? This all points towards them being Bile-bonded, but Venom makes that impossible because a) Zerif already has his jackal when Shane creates Bile for the first time in centuries, and b) there are no jackals in Stetriol for Zerif to bond with, even if Kovo or Halawir gave him Bile, or if he found some on his own whilst in Stetriol. I like the theory that he discovered ancient stores of Bile elsewhere on Erdas, then forcibly bonded with a jackal he found in Nilo, Zhong or Eura. I simply can't accept that Zerif's bond with his jackal was natural all along. Theirs will always be a Bile bond to me.
We never find out what animals Shane's parents summoned, or even the name of Shane's mother. You'd think that would be important to mention. She's named Gwyneth in ARHoE, but I haven't decided on her spirit animal yet. For Irwyn, I chose a thylacine, an animal that was going extinct in Stetriol at the time.
Vendetta
So Gerathon has controlled Shane before; she does so in this section to familiarize herself with his whereabouts. I can't believe I forgot that part. But then, why does he react so violently when she possesses him in The Evertree? (In any case, I prefer the idea that she had never controlled him before that battle.)
I'm tempted to write an AU where it is indeed Abeke and Uraza who track Shane down in the Niloan jungle. Same as I'm tempted to write one where Abeke gives in to her urge and goes after him following the events of Immortal Guardians. I want to know how he would handle those situations.
"Did you ever hear the story about how the goanna and the perentie got their colouring?" I was today years old when I learned that these are actual animals that exist on Earth. This entire time I thought they were made up! They are both lizards, which confirms my theory that they were the lizards depicted on the tapestry Shane saw in Venom.
Shane's habit of talking to normal animals might be one of my favourite things about him. In this book, he does it with a kangaroo and then a monkey. It's endearing.
It's so sad that Shane and Achi ended on such bad terms. It was sweet seeing him take on something of a big brother role with the younger boy.
Vengeance
It's interesting that Shane keeps shifting the blame for what happened to Drina. In Rise and Fall, when talking to Abeke, he blames Gar. In The Evertree, he blames Gerathon. And in Vengeance, he blames Yumaris. He blames everyone but himself.
I wonder if Shane was buried in the very same cemetery where his parents and ancestors lie... I wonder if they placed him next to Drina.
The temple has spiral structures and symbols referencing the Wyrm... which makes me think it was the Hellans who built it, not ancient Amayans like Anya suggests. Initially it seems perplexing that they would build a temple in honour of it when they knew it to be an evil force, but I think they meant it as more of an entryway showing the way down to destroy it.
"Did she tell you I have a weak spot for girl archers? Did she think I'd be more likely to trust you if you reminded me of someone I care about?" The fact that even Yumaris was able to clock that Shane has feelings for Abeke says a lot. Shane must really have been wearing his heart on his sleeve. We've seen how this is true for Abeke in regards to Shane, so it's funny to see that this is equally the case for him.
"What happened to you?" Shane says when he sees what Yumaris is turning into... and Rollan says these same horrified words to him when he sees his changed appearance for the first time in The Return: Revised. The parallels.
I'm debating on bringing Anya back in Path of the Heroes. On one hand, I feel like Shane isn't meant to cross paths with most of the people introduced in this book ever again, but on the other, I enjoyed their friendship and would love to explore it some more with Shane as a changed person. I dunno. We'll see what happens.
Venture
So Shane went to Sadre and all we hear about it is a mushroom? I weep…
Yeffa and Fito, two of the New Conquerors' raiders, were actually first introduced as Conqueror bosses that you have to defeat in the Spirit Animals game. Yeffa's spirit animal was a lion and Fito's was a jaguar. I love when they write game characters into the books; it's fun to make the connections. Timote and Piri, Kalani's brothers, are also on this raider team, which means they were either exiled or chose not to return home after the war.
It certainly means something that Shane dreams of Abeke (because the leopard is clearly alluding to her) on the night before his execution.
This was a great book; definitely one of my favourites. Nick Eliopulos's writing style, so thought-provoking and rich in symbolism, is exquisite. I have always loved how Abeke haunted the narrative; she was everywhere in this book, despite never making an appearance. The hints about the Wyrm set up the next arc perfectly. As much as I love Shane, I found his inner thoughts to be quite insufferable at times, and kept shaking my head at his painfully black-and-white view of the war and his deflection of the blame that was rightfully placed on him. But it was also very intriguing to read through. I came out of this liking Shane more, as I did the first and second and hundredth time around, because I can now appreciate how much he changed as a person. Coming to that, though: I feel like we didn't get to see him grow and break out of his old mindset in this book as much as I would have liked. His redemption arc is set in motion in this book, but I wish it progressed further, considering how little time we got with him in Fall of the Beasts. Another section or two would have been beneficial, in my opinion, to explore how he formed the Redcloaks (and maybe his travels in Sadre with Yumaris) and really solidify that he is beginning to walk a better path.
This is part of an ongoing series.
Wild Born | Hunted | Blood Ties | Fire and Ice | Against the Tide | Rise and Fall | The Evertree
Immortal Guardians | Broken Ground | The Return | The Burning Tide
Heart of the Land | The Wildcat's Claw | Stormspeaker | The Dragon's Eye
Tales of the Great Beasts | The Book of Shane | Tales of the Fallen Beasts

dazai who regularly gets vertigo that sometimes eventually leads to migraines. he always tries to work through them, but sometimes it just gets too bad & he collapses. cue chuuya caretaking <3 (thinking mostly pm skk)
thank u for the delicious ask anon...dazai is not the only one suffering in this fic, there's so much suffering to go around teehee..
ao3! 4.5k words, sickfic - please refer to the link for additional tags!
you're a headache || skk sickfic
Dazai is hoping it's just the antiseptic smell. He doesn't want to think about the other possibilities.
He sits down on one of the cots as soon as the dizzy spell hits him. He's learned over the years that sitting down right away seems to mitigate some of the effects of his vertigo, but it's gotten worse over time, and it's getting more and more difficult to hide.
"You good?"
Chuuya's voice. Dazai almost forgot he was there with him. He was the one that carried Akutagawa all the way here. Dazai's secretly thankful for it, because he certainly wouldn't have been able to do it himself.
"I'm fine," Dazai groans. Chuuya stuffs his phone into a pocket as he slips back past the curtain, eyeing Akutagawa's unconscious form with far more concern than necessary, Dazai thinks. "Did you get ahold of them?"
"Yeah. They're sending someone over to come get him with our ambulance," Chuuya huffs, leaning against the wall opposite to Dazai. This isn't a good situation. Akutagawa's injuries are too severe for him to be treated long-term by the infirmary staff at headquarters, and he needs to be taken to their own emergency facility. Dazai can't quite tell where he's bleeding from at this point. His head and thigh injuries bled the most, but he has several broken ribs and a fractured collarbone that's jutting out of his skin. He's almost certain one of his arms are dislocated, and Dazai would have put it back in place himself if the kid's collarbone wasn't staring right back at him.
Unfortunately, even if his injuries weren’t this severe, he’s extremely uncooperative and requires sedation to be treated. The infirmary staff have refused to treat him even for minor things in the past.
Dazai sighs, dropping his head in his hands, not caring much about the dried blood that they're covered in. “Such a pain.”
"At least he stopped bleeding," Chuuya sighs.
Dazai nods.
He probably needs to tell Gin. Akutagawa was supposed to go home tonight, but he has a feeling that won't be for a while, now.
Dazai almost never sees Akutagawa’s injuries the moment they happen. He’s learned to use Rashomon to keep injuries quite literally under wraps, and he can stop his own bleeding pretty well if he has the focus for it, but not this time. He fainted as a result of the blood he lost before Dazai even realized he was injured. He has no idea how he managed to hide that collarbone injury.
He has a much higher pain tolerance than Dazai could ever dream of. Here he is, half a collarbone snapped off and poking out, and Dazai thinks he might start crying if this headache turns into a migraine like he's suspecting.
Dazai pulls out his phone to find Gin's contact. He considers texting her, but this is sort of urgent, so he hits the call button and presses the phone up to his ear. Chuuya tilts his head, and Dazai has to hold himself back on making a comment about him looking like a confused dog.
"Gin. Hey. Akutagawa got hurt pretty bad today. They're taking him up to the hospital at the Port for further treatment. I can text you the information when I get it," he says. Gin doesn't speak when she's working, so he doesn't expect a response. There's just silence for a moment before she hangs up, a simple acknowledgment that she heard him.
"Gin? That Black Lizard kid?" Chuuya asks.
"Mhm," Dazai asks, tossing his phone over to the end of the cot. Chuuya looks confused, but Dazai doesn't feel like explaining anything to him.
For a moment, Akutagawa's body tenses up and he clenches his teeth through a pained groan, but he stays unconscious. Chuuya's expression tenses up just the same.
"Go back to work," Dazai grumbles. He only asked Chuuya for help because he was nearby when Akutagawa passed out. He doesn't need him anymore.
Chuuya scoffs. "You go back to work."
"I can't. I have to make sure my dog doesn't kill anyone when he wakes up," Dazai drawls as if it's the most obvious thing in the world.
"Stop calling him that, Dazai," he hisses.
"I'll call him whatever I want, Chuuya," Dazai groans. He doesn't have the energy to argue about meaningless things like this, but he will if it's Chuuya.
Chuuya, for some reason, doesn't seem to be so willing to leave. He leans against the wall and closes his eyes for a minute or so. Dazai isn't sure how long he's been working for, at this point. The bags under his eyes are telling enough. Regardless, he was there quickly enough when Dazai called to help him stop Akutagawa's bleeding.
"Why is he like that, anyway?"
"Like what?" Dazai groans, shooting a glare up at the latter. His voice sounds like metal grating on metal on Dazai's aching brain. He knows he's quickly developing a migraine - or, it's only hit him now that he has time to actually think.
"I saw him last time. Take that nurse's head off," Chuuya says. The memory sends a shiver up Dazai's spine. He's seen a lot of horrific things in his time in the mafia, but he's never seen a clean, instantaneous decapitation like that. Akutagawa is often heavily disoriented when he wakes up, especially when he's injured or ill, and that happened as a result.
Akutagawa didn't speak for two weeks after that happened, and Dazai could never seem right figure out why.
"He's from the slums," Dazai mumbles. His vision starts to list sideways as he straightens himself up, and he tries his best to hide any sign of his vertigo from Chuuya.
"Yeah?" Chuuya asks. He's starting to look irritated. "The fuck's that mean, Dazai? I'm from the slums too, asshole. What's that got to do with decapitating people for no reason?"
"I'm like, ninety-seven percent sure he was trafficked, so, more that sort of thing," Dazai says casually, not at all thrown off Chuuya's random defensive bite.
Chuuya loses some of the color in his face.
"Shit," he curses, letting out a shaky breath.
"I mean, I don't know for sure. I know he wouldn't tell me. But I'd say there's a good chance," Dazai shrugs. "Sure you saw your fair share of that."
Chuuya doesn't say anything, but he knows the answer. He thinks the two of them probably have a lot more in common than either of them realize.
"Maybe you could ask him, since you like him so much. He'd probably tell you," Dazai teases.
"What the hell is your problem? He can't stand anyone but you. He wouldn't tell me," Chuuya scoffs. "I wouldn't ask about something like that anyway, you freak. It's not my business."
Dazai has tuned him out at this point. He doesn't care much to hear Chuuya's defenses, he was really only doing it to get a rise out of him, but now he regrets it. Chuuya's voice is normally a cacophony in Dazai's ears, but now with his ever-present migraine, it's making him much more aware of the dull throbbing in the back of his head.
"Shut up, will you? You'll wake up my dog," Dazai groans, dropping his head back into his hands. Chuuya won't care if Dazai tells him the real reason, he's sure, but he's much more likely to comply for Akutagawa's sake, for some reason.
"Call him your dog one more time," Chuuya grumbles to himself, but Dazai ignores him.
It's silent again for a while. Dazai doesn't have much concept of how much time has passed, he's simply trying to will away his migraine, somehow. Chuuya refuses to leave. It might be a good thing. He can probably carry Akutagawa out once they arrive to pick him up. Dazai couldn't carry him even if he wanted to.
Then, of course, the nausea hits him.
"I'll be right back," Dazai grumbles. He figures he's probably not walking as straight as he thinks, but he's more worried about getting to the bathroom in time than hiding his vertigo from Chuuya, at this point. He pulls the curtain back and stumbles toward the bathroom, one hand clamped over his mouth just in case his stomach contents decide to make a reappearance before he can do it of his own free will.
He drops to his knees with a groan as soon as he closes the door behind him, and he lays his head on the toilet seat. His head is spinning so much that he can't see straight. He has no idea how he managed to get here so quickly. Muscle memory, his strong desire to get away from Chuuya, it's anyone's guess.
"Fuck," he groans, spitting his saliva into the water. So far, there's no sign of Chuuya following him over, not that Dazai is too aware of his surroundings right now anyway. He tries to turn his head to see if he can see anything from the space beneath the door, but everything suddenly turns on its side, and he chokes up a mouthful of vomit. The only sign he has that it landed in the toilet is the splash he hears - he can't see anything.
His brain feels like it's thumping against his skull, which is a sensation so nauseating that it makes everything else feel so much worse. He whines, much rather wishing someone would put him out of his misery. This surely isn't worth surviving.
Whatever forces itself out of his stomach next is strong enough for Dazai to consider it near projectile. He feels it coming out of his nose, which is only adding to the list of awful sensations he's feeling.
He whines to himself, not caring much about how pathetic he must sound. He spits up another mouthful of vomit with a wet burp.
“Hngh…”
He tries not to move his head too much, but he can't stay here for long. He reaches forward to flush, hardly with enough energy to. He's sure he'll have to go with them once they take Akutagawa just as a precaution, and they should be here any minute. He takes a wad of toilet paper to wipe his mouth and nose. His throat already burns so bad.
He has to use the toilet seat for support to get up, and he finds himself leaning heavily against the wall as he's hit with another bout of vertigo. He's lucky he already threw up, or else he's sure this bout would have made him vomit all over the tile floor.
He keeps a hand along the wall as he finds the door, and once he opens it, he has to lean on the bathroom door frame for support. He can't get away with hiding it, not now. If he tries, he'll pass out for sure.
Chuuya is glaring at him, an eyebrow raised. Dazai doesn't have any clue how long he's been out here.
"Did you just throw up?" Chuuya asks.
Dazai groans, pressing his forehead up against the frame. He wishes Chuuya were more like Akutagawa. He's trained the latter to be silent if he notices anything wrong with him, but Chuuya always has to point it out. Annoying.
"The hell's wrong with you, Dazai? You've been weird this whole time," Chuuya huffs. He takes a step forward, almost looking like he wants to approach him for some reason, but Dazai just turns his head back to the side. He feels awful.
"Nothing. Go away, slug."
And then it hits him again, as soon as he takes a step forward and loses the support of the door frame. It feels almost like one foot landed where it was supposed to, and the other somehow took a step on the wall, and now his head is rushing toward the floor.
Of course, Chuuya catches him before he can turn his migraine into a head injury.
Dazai makes no effort to move. He'd do anything to wriggle out of Chuuya's hold right now, but he's practically incapacitated right now, his eyes screwed shut in some attempt to get some control over what he's seeing.
"Dazai -"
"It's just this shitty vertigo," Dazai mumbles quietly, trying to peer his eyes open. "I'll be fine, just -"
Chuuya doesn't give him any room to defend himself. He scoops him up without a second of deliberation.
Dazai finds himself lying in one of the cots in no time at all, one in a closed room. He doesn't trust himself to open his eyes just yet, but he can tell it's dark in here. That usually helps. He probably should lie down for a while.
"Stay here and don't fucking get up," Chuuya huffs before he pulls the curtain closed, and Dazai covers his ears a bit too late, the metal rings sliding along the pole proving to be a bit too much for him. He's not sure why Chuuya was in such a rush to leave, but he hears his phone ringing off in the distance. They must be here to get Akutagawa.
Dazai curls up on his side, taking the pillow and holding it over his head to dull his senses some. It still feels like he's cascading down a waterfall inside of a wooden barrel, but now that he thinks about it, he'd rather actually be doing that. At least he has death to look forward to at the end. This is just pointless suffering.
He hears something. He's not sure what. Something falling against the tile, some sort of a struggle.
"Hey. You're okay. You're in the infirmary, at headquarters," he hears Chuuya say sternly. "Dazai's right in there. He fell asleep."
Dazai can't even remotely muster the energy to get up. Akutagawa's awake, and he's not there to negate his ability.
Get away from him, he wants to say. Akutagawa's true intentions don't matter, the fact is he could easily kill Chuuya in those first blinded moments before he realizes where he is.
But he doesn't hear anything. He doesn't hear any kind of struggle at all, not past that first bit.
Dazai scoffs to himself. Of course he's fine with Chuuya. Of course Chuuya can handle himself.
And then he hears it again. Some kind of struggle.
He forces his head up off the bed, which proves to be a massive mistake. His head swims and rolls off his shoulders, it feels like, reminding him how horribly nauseous he is, and he leans over the side of the cot to try to vomit on the floor, but he's greatly misinterpreted how far off the cot he leaned because of the vertigo, and his whole body tumbles to the floor.
He doesn't have the energy to even lift his head to vomit. Whatever he manages to choke out just slides off of his tongue and spreads on the floor next to his face.
He'd rather be blackout drunk than this.
"Dazai," Chuuya mumbles. He hates how concerned he sounds. He doesn't often let himself be read like that.
"I'm fine," Dazai barely manages to croak out, but he's not really sure where he is. He thinks he might be back in that same bed, which means Chuuya moved him from where he was, laying in his own vomit.
It's still dark. Dazai is lying on his back, feeling significantly less dizzy, but now he's met with what feels like the worst migraine of his life, pounding through his skull like there's no tomorrow. He whines, grabbing a fistful of the sheets he's lying on for some kind of distraction.
He feels something damp press against his cheek, and he manages to open an eye to see it's still only Chuuya, rubbing a washcloth on the side of his face. Dazai groans and tries to turn his head away. He realizes there's a washcloth laid over his forehead, too. He doesn't think he has a fever, but it does feel nice.
"Cut it out. Trying to clean your face up," Chuuya grumbles, his free hand taking Dazai's chin to turn his head back in his direction. "What the hell even happened, Dazai? I come back and you're passed out on the floor and laying in your own puke?"
"'M fine," Dazai mumbles. He's exhausted. He can't have been passed out for long.
"No you're not. This isn't normal," Chuuya huffs. His brow furrows.
"'s just a migraine," he says quietly, but he can hardly speak. His voice rattling around in his brain is making his already insanely painful headache worse. He wants to tell Chuuya it's not a big deal. He gets these all the time, they're just bad for the first few hours and then he's okay, but he can't get the words out.
Chuuya, somehow, seems to realize this.
"You should've fuckin' said so," he whispers with a click of his tongue, somehow already understanding that other voices are making it worse.
Dazai's eyes fall shut. He's grateful for it being so quiet in the infirmary tonight. He didn't see a single member of the staff so far, or any patients. Now it's just him and Chuuya.
He hears something click, and realizes Chuuya has shut off the lights in the main hall of the infirmary, too. It's almost completely dark, aside from the emergency light just barely peeking past the curtain.
"I'll come back later. Gonna report to the boss," Chuuya whispers.
There's blood on Chuuya's face. Dazai can trace the faint outline of it, but he disappears before Dazai can figure out where it's coming from. This time, not a single ring of the curtain moves on the metal bar. It's a silent exit. Dazai's impressed.
He lets go of a shaky sigh.
"I'm not gonna move him."
Chuuya's voice wakes him. Dazai groans, beyond annoyed to have any voice wake him up - let alone Chuuya - until he manages to remember where he is.
"He's not injured. Just leave 'im. I've got it covered," Chuuya says.
Dazai hears the hushed voices of some nurses, and as he pries his eyes open, he realizes the lights in the main hall of the infirmary are on again, spilling into the dark room he's been resting in. He wonders how long it's been. He hasn't had time to properly rest in a few weeks, at the very least, so he's lost track of time.
The nurses' voices have stopped, and Dazai hears Chuuya's footsteps.
He's still very quiet. Dazai can only hear the fabric ruffle when Chuuya slips past the curtain, and Dazai lets himself fall still again, pretending to still be asleep. He doesn't hear a sound from Chuuya at first, but soon enough, he lets out a deep sigh, and it sounds like he slides down against the wall, opposite to the curtain.
Dazai turns his head just enough that he'll be able to see Chuuya's face.
He looks exhausted. If Dazai had really just woken up, he would have thought Chuuya was dead asleep, the way his head is hanging down. For just a second, Dazai feels something akin to guilt. The blood Dazai remembered from earlier has since dried and cracked against his skin, and his skin is pale, but Dazai isn’t sure why.
"Sleeping on the floor's not good for you, Chibi," Dazai teases, his voice hoarse, hardly above a whisper.
"Fucking hell, Dazai," Chuuya growls, obviously startled, his eyes wide and fixed on Dazai. If Dazai had been any louder, he might've hit his head on the wall from the surprise, "I thought you were asleep, dammit."
"I was, but your annoying voice woke me," Dazai complains with an overdramatic sigh, laying his forearm over his eyes.
"How's your head?" Chuuya asks, evidently not interested in Dazai's taunts. He uses support from the wall to help himself get up, or rather, struggle to, and Dazai hears a quiet groan from him. He’s holding a hand against his abdomen, just for a moment.
"Worse now that you're here," Dazai mumbles under his breath, turning over on the cot. He's still not a huge fan of the lights.
"Seriously, you ugly fuckin' mackerel. Do you feel better or not?" Chuuya groans.
"A little," he admits. It's not nearly as awful as it was before. He can handle the sound of his own voice, at least. The headache is still present, and he's not sure he wants to test his luck with the vertigo and try to sit up, but he's better for now.
Dazai moves his hand back down to his side, and finds a damp washcloth beside his pillow, likely replaced at some point during his sleep. He tosses it over to Chuuya, who doesn't react nearly as quickly as he shoulder.
"You demanding motherfu-"
"Wash your face," Dazai huffs, "unsightly. What kind of executive are you?"
He's teasing, of course, but Chuuya doesn't seem to understand what he's referring to. Normally, Chuuya wouldn't dream of using something to wash his face that's already touched Dazai, but he wipes his cheek and checks the cloth, surprised to find blood.
"Oh, that's…" Chuuya mumbles to himself. He sits down on the cot.
"Akutagawa?" Dazai asks.
"He was scared," Chuuya murmurs, of course, right away to Akutagawa's defense. His fingers graze across the dried cut on his forehead. "You…you need to be more gentle with him."
Chuuya's words are lost to him. He's more concerned with the way Chuuya's looking right now, like he'd pass out any second. He's seen his head bob forward a few times now.
"Lay down," Dazai mumbles. Chuuya meets his gaze for a few moments. Dazai expects him to argue, but he thinks he's so exhausted that he doesn't even give himself a second to think of any retort. He just lays on his side at the end of the bed and curls up, like a cat. Dazai's noticed he often sleeps like that. It almost seems defensive.
"You piss me off," Chuuya murmurs, his voice already heavy with sleep, whispered. Dazai watches all the tension leave his body, but he keeps his gaze on Dazai for as long as he can, before another force makes his eyelids fall shut.
"Yeah, yeah," Dazai whispers, watching Chuuya as he starts to fall asleep.
Only a few moments later, a nurse peaks her head in through the curtains, not as careful to avoid the metal scraping as Chuuya was. Dazai grits his teeth at the sound, but he turns his head, an eyebrow raised at the woman.
"Is he asleep?" she asks so quietly Dazai can hardly hear her. There's one or two more nurses behind her. Dazai just nods, thinking it was obvious enough. "We've been trying to get him to rest all morning."
"All morning?" Dazai asks.
"Yes, he's been in here with you the whole time…he refused to rest," she says. "Please let us know if you need something, sir."
"Turn the lights back off out there, will you?" Dazai sighs, and the nurse nods fervently, disappearing past the curtains. Dazai sighs, long and annoyed, and plans on shutting his eyes and going back to sleep before he feels something warm under the heel of his foot.
At first, he’s inclined to make a joke, but all of the little things he’s noticed have come together to make him realize that Chuuya’s blood is soaking the mattress, and he’s still unconscious. Dazai forces himself to sit up to get a better look at him, and his head swims, proving he’s still not completely recovered from his migraine.
“Chuuya,” Dazai breathes out. He grabs his shoulder, but he doesn’t budge.
Dazai shouts for a nurse.
Chuuya’s color is finally starting to come back. Dazai takes note of that. It’s a good sign, even though he’s still fast asleep.
The nurses aren’t too worried about him not waking up. The wound on his abdomen bled a lot, and they’re a bit worried about infection, but at the moment they say it’s nothing he needs a hospital visit for.
Evidently, it was an injury caused by Akutagawa, but Dazai is at a loss for why Chuuya refused to tell anyone, let alone get it treated. He’s sure Chuuya has his own noble bullshit reason for it, something Dazai could never even dream of understanding.
“Can’t you ever just let me suffer by myself?” Dazai grumbles, his head on a pillow beside Chuuya’s. He doesn’t expect Chuuya to answer, but he hopes he subconsciously absorbs the message.
“Fuck you,” Chuuya mutters, his eyes still shut. Dazai didn’t realize that he woke up. His voice is hoarse and heavy with sleep. “Can you shut up? My head hurts.”
“Boo hoo,” Dazai huffs. He manages to fish a free hand out from under the sheets to flick Chuuya in the forehead. Chuuya groans, snatching the sheet they’re both under and pulling it over his head.
“How’s yours,” Chuuya mumbles from under the sheet.
“My what?”
“Your head. Moron,” he huffs.
“I’m fine. Go back to sleep, slug,” Dazai tells him, taking the sheet back so he can see his face. Chuuya’s glaring at him. “Stop worrying about me so much. It’s weird.”
“You’re weird. Ugh,” Chuuya grumbles, tucking his head back into the pillow. “Tell me the next time something’s wrong with you, freak. I don’t wanna find you passed out in your own puke again.”
“And I don’t want you bleeding out in the be I’m laying in again, chibi. Take your own dumb advice,” Dazai groans.
“It was deeper than I thought,” Chuuya mumbles defensively. Dazai knows it was much more complicated than that, but he won’t press for more details. Chuuya’s thought process is a mystery to him, and he’d like to keep it that way. “Dazai?”
“What, slug?” Dazai groans.
“I was trafficked too,” Chuuya mumbles. It’s much quieter than everything else he’s said, and any anger or annoyance has long since left his expression.
“I figured,” Dazai says back quietly. His chest tightens up, and he’s not sure why. He knows how common that sort of thing is in the slums, it doesn’t surprise him at all that that’s something Chuuya went through, but he’s at a loss for why Chuuya’s deciding to tell him.
“Waking up and not knowing where you are’s fucking scary,” Chuuya grumbles. “I don’t…I don’t blame Akutagawa for freaking out.”
“Never said I did, Chuuya,” Dazai reminds him. He recalls simply answering Chuuya’s question as to why Akutagawa reacts the way that he does.
“So don’t punish him. It’s not his fault,” Chuuya mumbles.
Dazai sighs. That’s what he’s getting at, then. “I won’t.”
Chuuya relaxes, just a bit, and only then Dazai realizes how tense he was.
“Will you go to sleep now?” Dazai huffs, trying to force some sort of annoyed tone to get Chuuya to comply, but he’s already halfway there. The exhaustion takes over him one more time. Chuuya’s always been one to fall asleep quickly.
Dazai brushes some of Chuuya’s overgrown bangs from his eyes. He really doesn't want to know how all of this would have gone if Chuuya wasn’t there - between Akutagawa’s injuries and Dazai being nearly completely incapacitated from his migraine, Chuuya took care of it all, and completely neglected himself in the process.
He’s far too selfless. Dazai doesn’t think he’ll ever understand it.

Week 17 of the Daily Dragon Challenge for your viewing pleasure! I kind of forgot to do the end of month dragon voting at the end of April so... while you're here, why not vote on your favorite dragon for April? The voting will be closed soon (and absolutely by the end of next week) So please consider voting!
As always you can follow me on twitter where they’re posted daily
And read more info on each of them below the cut
Daily Dragon #112 - Waves Wyrm
A young witch with dragon blood inside her, allowing her the power to study their ancient texts and learn their magics. She's loves all lizards and has lots of them wandering about her lair
This is, of course, another redesign! I've had this dragon witch for a hot minute but don't draw her super often. VERY first drawing is from 2016-ish I think. The newer one is from 2019!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This one is a bit more of a design overhaul, I sadly axed the green hair cause I thought it clashed a bit but I hope everyone likes her new look!
Daily Dragon #113 / #114 - Rhino Kabutosaur + Stag Kabutosaur
Living in colonies deep within jungles, Kabutosaurs are relatively rare but incredibly important parts of their ecosystems. Tearing down trees for food, and ultimately scattering their seeds and pollen to grow more
Been very tired lately so I ALMOST didn't do one today either but I figured I'd go ahead while I wait for my laundry to finish up. Good thing I did too idk what beetle I would've done tomorrow to make it count for 3 days lol
Daily Dragon #115 - Soarer Dragon
Today's is a little bit different, I tried to draw a dragon I saw in the clouds today. I hope you can see it too :)
Tumblr media
Daily Dragon #116 - Rawrdon
Tiny, feral, simple. These are pretty standard dinosaur-like dragons. Mostly found in mountainous regions as well as abandoned castles/temples. These lizards use their fire breath to cook random smaller animals they find in the places they call home
While the red version is what you'll commonly find in the wild, extremely rare blue ones can be found in areas that don't get much sunlight, typically deep underground in forgotten temples. They're considerably stronger, but can't survive long in intense sunlight
Daily Dragon #117 - Octogon
A chubby deep sea dragon with insanely rubbery limbs that it uses to grab and stick to things it encounters day to day. It's well known for its brilliant bioluminescence people see while scuba diving
Also its underside is transparent, if that wasn't obvious
Daily Dragon #118 - Angler Drake
Another deep sea dragon that's a big time carnivore. It hides deep in pitch black sea using the bulb on its forehead to trick prey into being eaten by it!

Not me cooking up a new au!
Dragon Ace for the win!
Tumblr media
I say as I post a picture of his parents being disgustingly in love.
Basically, Rouge and Ace are the survivors of a once great race:
The dragon-skins, a nomadic race of mostly human looking people. Their bodies possed crystal like scales and horns, with the ability to turn into fire breathing Dragons.
They were hunted down by the celestial Dragons, till only a handful of them walked the land as free people.
Because of this, those survivors learned to hide their true nature until they were nearly indistinguishable to humans.
Tumblr media
Now. Whilst the Whitebeard Pirates knew Rouge and her relationship with Roger, Whitebeard also knew that the man was infertile due to his sickness.
It was a shame, considering how much the man loved his wife and how much he fantasised spawning a little devil that would raise hell with her.
After his friend died and he tried to find Rouge, but when he found her remains, he believed that she died from depression, not knowing about the infant that was dropped off by some bandits.
When Thatch brought that little lizard to the ship, he didn't even make that connection.
The little thing, Jalapeño as his son called it, was quite the adorable thing. At least when it wasn't biting them.
It would often nap on his lap or in the sun, or chase after his children like a little kitten wanting to play or cuddle.
Their new pet was also extremely smart, being able to differentiate between the different family members, fetch them things when asked, and being as much as a help as a menace on the ship.
(He is pretty sure that his beloved daughter weaponized it to make him take his medicine and rest. Having a small animal give him sad eyes and pushing the alcohol out of his hand was a lot more effective than he would have liked. Not that he could ever prove it)
Everyone was heartbroken when it went missing after an altercation with the marines.
No matter where they searched, they couldn't find it.
They only learned what really happened when Thatch was attacked by Teach, when everyone was awoke by an loud crash and growl that seeminglt shook the entire ship.
Now. The all knew that Ace was Rouges kid from the moment he tried to take Whitebeards head.
Not only because of their surname and how much they looked alike, but because they had the same intensity when fighting.
(Some of the older members nearly fainted because they thought that he was the second coming of Rouge)
They also knew that he was Rogers rumoured son that somehow survived the infanticide.
(Their laughter and smiles are so alike that Whitebeard still gets that pang longing whenever he sees and hears it)
Anyway. This knowledge about his heritage didn't translate to them realizing that Ace could turn into a dragon like Rouge.
Only when they saw that big monster looming over their brother, a dagger buried in its shoulders, the curtain fell before their eyes.
Thatch, the person most affected by the loss of his first pet, recognized his little jalapeño despite the shock of nearly getting back stabbed by a brother.
After they got Ace patched up and realized what Teach tried to do (he was still able to flee with the devil fruit), the young man had to explain himself.
Apparently, he never mentioned his dragon-skin nature because he was afraid.
Celestial Dragons believed themselves to be the owners of his race and he knew that they would come for him.
Sure, they were the strongest crew in the world, but those bastards were on a different level.
He still remembers the fire made to please them, burning away so many lives.
There is also the fact that he grew up believing that they just forgot about him after garp brought him home.
It was also this feeling of abandonment, which made him want to hurt their dad.
It also made it harder for him to connect to his treasure, pushing people away from him despite his instincts telling him otherwise.
Only when Luffy, his brother by proxy, was hurt because of his loyalty to him, did he understand his mistake.

headcanons of kuruk with his failed team avatar in the early years (no angst, no suffering, only peace and imagination …) (i forgot many canon wise things.. forgive and forget)
Jianzhu
• He’s Jianzhu’s first true friend, though he’d never admit that. Jianzhu understands Kuruk in a way others fail to. He sees the incredible things Kuruk does and the corrections he’s made upon teacher’s who are meant to be teaching him. It makes Jianzhu think that the Avatar’s greatness is inevitable. He wants to stay around and be a witness to it.
• One of the first things Kuruk came to learn about the young earthbender was that besides them being a year apart in age— he was very afraid of losing everything he worked for. In one of their many talks to pass the time after training, he admitted this. Kuruk tried to understand, using his status as the Avatar— ‘I’m scared to mess up. I don’t want to lose people’s faith in me,’ but Jianzhu shook his head, it wasn’t the same.
“You’re the Avatar. You have something to fall back on. The entire world opens their hand for you.”
And it’s such an intimate thing to learn about him. That he’s scared to lose who he is, what he owns, what his family built. [This ties into evil-old-man-Jianzhu who used his companionship with the late Avatar to his advantage. He’d do anything to maintain control and power; the fear of losing something that’s his stunts him]
• smart on their own, idiots when paired together.
•Kuruk was fired as a wingman for Jianzhu, he’d only been one once or twice, but both times were a shitshow. Jianzhu would try all the moves Kuruk taught him, even said a handful of cheesy lines that made his ears red to a person who caught his sights. And it was a bust, because they barely past a glance at him. No, because they were too busy staring at Kuruk.
“Maybe you aren’t doing it right, friend…”
“Oh, is that what it is.” Jianzhu barely hid the sarcasm dripping in his voice. Either Kuruk’s being polite, or he didn’t realize the problem in question was him! He’s handsome (DOWN).
• Jianzhu lost 10 times over while playing against Kuruk in Pai Sho. On the 11th rematch Kuruk pretends to make a faulty move for his friend’s sanity. Jianzhu knows its a pity win but takes it. He’s mostly amazed about the reckless moves Kuruk uses because it still aides him into victory!!?
“There’s just no way.” Jianzhu gasps, astonished. “Teach me how you did that,”
Kuruk laughs, “Ah. The student becomes the teacher.”
“On second thought...”
• They’re most likely to butt heads over trivial matters like similar folklores that their own nation has renditions of, but they think the other is ruining the story.
They’re all camped out, Kelsang fast asleep, and Jianzhu decides to tell Hei Ran a haunting tale she’s never heard of. Kuruk cuts him off once he’s halfway through the story.
Kuruk groans, “That is so not how it goes.”
Jianzhu snaps his head to the Avatar. “Yes it is?! She back talked to her mom six different times and turned into a lizard-snail for six weeks!”
“Uh. No! She didn’t accept her mother’s arranged marriage for her, so her mom cursed her into a lizard-snail until she did for six weeks! That’s why it’s called Mother’s Curse. Idiot.”
“That’s not—! What—! You…! Okay, let’s say that’s how it went. What would be the lesson? The whole point of Mother’s Curse is that the child shouldn’t have backed talk.”
“The whole point of Mother’s Curse is that the mother was evil, and didn’t care about what her daughter wanted?(???!) It’s to make kids appreciate how their parents wouldn’t do something sinister like that to them!”
“That… is the stupidest thing I ever heard.”
“YOU’RE STUPID.”
Safe to say that Hei Ran doesn’t stick around and goes to her tent, away from the idiots who continue to argue about who is more stupider.
•oh and during Kuruk’s hoe era Jianzhu turned a blind eye and said ‘well shit, he gotta do whatever he can to go about his day. Not my business.’
•silly silly silllllllly vibes. Silly. Ridiculous. One piece level of comedy.
•In conclusion … Jianzhu feels a deep connection with Kuruk. He’s amazed with him!! He believes this guy is the real deal, and its a honor to see what Kuruk could do or will be in the near future. Kuruk isn’t nervous by the blind faith Jianzhu has in him, it actually keeps him going. Friendship Is Magic…….
Song that remind me of their dynamic: It Wasn’t Me
Kelsang
• started off at a rocky start since Kuruk did try to steal his sky bison, but being around someone as silly as Kuruk became contagious. I imagine Kelsang laughing before Kuruk even got to the punchline, and this kinda drew the two together. There’s so much seriousness and rules and customs, it becomes tedious after a point, yet Kuruk makes it all so laughable …? Unserious? A sort of ‘what was I so worried about’ feeling. Childlike almost. FREE.
• Kuruk instantly got air bending in his first lessons from the air nomads, which fits due to his laid back go with the flow personality. He tries showing Kelsang random moves and ideas that keep popping off in his mind like rapid fire. Kelsang thinks it's... pretty impressive.
“This feels so much more different than the other elements. Everything is so… weightless. Are there any personal moves of yours that you’ve created?” Kuruk asked while balancing himself on an airball.
Kelsang shook his head no, confused. At this, Kuruk immediately got up and starting flailing his hands around, creating motion. “Oo! I wanna show you this idea that I haven't shown anyone besides like-- Jianzhu. I think it could really be helpful!
As he demonstrates a peculiar airbending maneuver with ease, Kelsang stands up straight, in awe. Maybe he had judged him too quickly.
• because of his height and rather serious resting face, Kelsang can come across as intimidating, but that is all destroyed by seeing him with Kuruk, he looks his age and more approachable. Kuruk calls him baldy as a nickname, to tease. Kelsang occasionally answers back with ‘pretty boy’, because, *drops hands* well, that’s what #they keep telling us about him.
• It is my personal belief that out of all of them, Kelsang is who Kuruk would’ve confessed to about the spirits. Not that he would ask him for help or go into the exact details of what its doing to his body, but in a complete what-if scenario,,,, the air nomad would have the words that could reassure Kuruk of this enormous responsibility he feels on the daily. [Remember, Kuruk ran into Kelsang with his poem he had written for Hei Ran. It’s less humiliating and less shameful seeking the air nomad out for matters that he can’t hold inside anymore. There’s never judgement. Maybe a shared fear? A frantic voice that could tell Kuruk right from wrong, in his best way. Never judgement.]
• okay i lied a little angst just this once DAMN… So as we know. Everyone who mattered in Kuruk’s life felt this enormous guilt that they failed him somehow. I like to believe that finding Kuruk in his next life, being a parental figure for Kyoshi, loving her like a father would love their own— while believing Yun was the next Avatar. Not realizing until she read Kuruk's poem word for word. To learn that he had still managed to bridge this connection with his old friend again. Without even intentionally doing so? Without even KNOWING. I think the weight of his failures as a companion left right then. Because he made up for it. Whatever it is he believed he lacked in, he pulled through for his final moments with Kyoshi. Not that Kuruk's spirit ever held blame for Kelsang. It’s just so interesting because we know the whole: do you really think friendships could last more than one lifetime? but they usually know who their deceased friend is in their next life. (((Kelsang you reallll as hell. Idc about the typhoon shit, YOU ARE REALLLLLL.))))
song that reminds me of them : Lean On Me
Hei-Ran
• Kuruk doesn’t know when to shut up around Hei Ran, he’s kind of … obsessed. Loser-lover-boy.
• Hei Ran thought of him slightly childish, but overtime, similarly to Kelsang, the atmosphere around Kuruk was drawing her in. There was something contagious about the northern water tribe boy.
While teaching him how to firebend, she wasn’t really surprised that he’d have such difficulty with it. His personality didn’t really mesh with what it would take to punch and kick out bursts of flames. Kuruk’s kind of frustrated with himself because he was getting the hang of all the elements with little to no effort, and here he was in front of the beautiful Hei Ran of all people, huffing and puffing because small smoke was all that emits from his inner flame.
Hei Ran does one last command, tells him to let the fire in him erupt, to let the flame in him out, (don’t you want to go ape shit ? essentially) and finally something clicks within Kuruk and he’s firebending in front of the best firebender he knows.
“I did it! I really did it!”
“Good job, though there’s gonna be many more lessons for you to learn, so don’t get too ahead of— And he’s burning down a tree.”
“Hei Ran! Help!”
• Kuruk likes to stay behind during their group walks to other villages because Hei Ran is usually there walking gracefully behind Kelsang and Jianzhu. She eyes Kuruk suspiciously, wondering what he’s up to. Its a game they play, where he says something to see if he can get that overly serious no-funny-business wall of hers to crack, get her to smile or laugh or even tell him off. All three works most times, and for the other, she holds a set stare ahead and Kuruk grumbles, giving up his charade and walking besides her in silence. Missing the slight tilted ends of pink lips. She likes seeing him try so hard, the dude never knew what it was like to try to win someone over. Is this what Jianzhu feels?
• He’s a great listener. Hei Ran can talk and talk and talk, and he’d retain it all. It makes her feel good. That someone cares, that Kuruk is genuine and (corny alert) wears his heart on his sleeves. She wants to protect him. She wants to know everything about him, and so he tells her everything. There’s this earnest about Kuruk. He doesn’t hide from her. He doesn’t deceive her. She can read him so well, and in turn, so does he.
•Hei Ran never imagined she’d be friends with someone like Kuruk, recalling her bit harsh judgement, but now she can’t imagine knowing anyone else. A part of her yearns to stay by his side. And Kuruk feels like he’s on cloud nine whenever Hei Ran so much as scoffs at his lame mannerisms. His heart thuds, hands clammy, lips forever smiling.
•They’re laying down on a field of grass, watching the sky in an array of pretty colors as the sun sets over the horizon; Kuruk insisted they catch a break after all the firebending training.
“My folks really want to meet you.” Kuruk says.
“You talk about me to them?” Hei Ran tries to keep her tone leveled, but her heartbeat picks up, fiddling around a strand of Kuruk’s hair on her finger.
“Yeah. Maybe too much. Not enough if you ask me.”
“I’d love to meet them. When should we?”
“Hopefully soon, it’s not freezing cold around this time of year. Heh, I can’t imagine you near snow. You’d look so out of place,” he laughs, eyes crinkling. Hei Ran fought off laughing along for dignity sake.
“Please. You make it sound like I’m gonna freeze and die.”
“Don’t you worry, I’ll hug you the entire way there. I won’t let you catch a cold or anything, just stick beside me and—” Kuruk reached for her, face ridiculously close, lips puckered up and leaning. Hei Ran rolled her eyes at this lame show, shoving him away. He burst into a fit of laughter.
Hei Ran turned her attention back to the endless sky while his laughter faded in the background. Going to the Northern Water Tribe. Meeting Kuruk’s family. It’ll be an honor to meet the people who shaped him and made him what he is.

Random Thoughts about frills and crests on dinosaurs
A while ago I watched Jurassic Park with my wife, not having seen the movie in ages. I was reminded of the hype that the movie got when it came out, how we were amazed by this brand new animation technique that created such realistic looking dinosaurs (at least, compared to the dinos we had seen in movies prior to JP).
I went to see the movie in a theater with my father. I was one year younger than the age limit permitted, but because I was with a parent, I was allowed in. My mother had warned me that the movie might be too scary for me, but I was determined to see it. I loved dinosaurs, how could I be afraid of something I loved? I was a dumb kid. I made it through the T-Rex scene, occasionally peeking between my fingers, but the Dilophosaurus scene turned out too scary for me. My father asked if I wanted to leave home mid movie and I said yes.
I later wondered why I could endure the T-Rex scene but not the Dilo. I think it was because the T-Rex, while big and intimidating, was still behaving like an animal. Its behaviour with the car was like that of a crow that has found a puzzle box with a treat inside, curious and trying to solve the puzzle of how to open the car. The Dilo on the other hand exhibited behaviour that made no sense for an animal. At first it too seemed just curious and playful but then out of freaking nowhere spread a frill and started to scream as if it was afraid of the human in front of it. The whole scene read like a threatening display, even though we could clearly see from the dinosaur's earlier behaviour that it wasn't afraid of humans. It behaved like a serial killer, wanting its prey to be scared, succeeding in spooking one small kid in the audience.
Now that I'm adult I'm no longer scared by the Dilo scene but the frill still bothers and annoys me. It was added to the movie in order to make the Dilo more intimidating and scary, but whoever designed it forgot to study the animal it was inspired by; the frilled lizard. Do frilled lizards display their frills to their prey before attacking it? No, the frill is used to scare away predators and to intimidate rivals.
The Dilophosaurus's frill may be 100% fictional, but many dinosaurs had frills, collars, crests, sails and such. I remember reading dinosaur books as a kid and learning about all kinds of theories about the purpose of these bodyparts. That Stegos would use their plates to regulate heat, Paras would use their crests to make sounds and Ceratopsians used their frill (is it called frill? Or crest? Or collar?) for mating displays. Some of these may be decent theories but sometimes I think paleontogists should look at existing animals in zoos to look for the most likely reasons an animal would develope a frill or a crest. To me it seems that most of the time these bodyparts are used like the frilled lizard uses its frill, either to make the animal look bigger and scarier to turn away predators or to intimidate rivals.
The Parasaurolophus crest being used for communication fascinated me, because it differed from the usual "intimidation tool/courtship decoration" usage of crests and frills. The crest is hollow and I remember seeing a documentary where a guy made a replica of it with tubes and demonstrated what kind of noise it could make. So it seemed a more likely theory to me than some of the wilder ones out there (there was a claim the crest was hollow in order to cool the brain, so many heat regulation theories back in the day).
The theory of a bodypart being used for mating display seems odd to me when the bodypart is identical for both males and females. For most animals, if a bodypart is used for mating display, only males have them. I personally think Ceratopsian frills make more sense as a protective plate making the neck less vulnerable. But if they were for mating display, why would females also have them? Or were they part of a "mating dance" where a male first displays his frill and if the female likes him she'll respond by bowing her head and showing her colourful frill?

🩹💚💛 for aussie
🩹 ADHESIVE BANDAGE — does your oc have any physical and/or mental disabilities?
He has a clicky jaw from where he nearly got his face blown off at Gallipoli, limps a little when it's cold, or he's depressed from where he got shot in the thigh, also at Gallipoli but Lone Pine. Both were exacerbated by not letting it heal properly before he got back to work. The scar faded but he got hosed by a flame thrower and then plane fuel during a plane crash in 1941 and his right shoulder is still a bit stiff. He will roll it a lot when he's anxious.
As for mental... It's not exactly a disability in the bio-medical sense but he was just not built for 19th century life. He's one of those kids that in the modern day everyone would be pushing to be on Ritalin but the second he's in a comfortable, safe, stable environment all the behaviour problems disappear. In the 19th century though my boy was just struggling.
💚 GREEN HEART — does your oc prefer being inside or outside?
He's an outside lad through and through. Jack appreciates air-con but good lord he's an al fresco lad. Morning coffee at the café's outside tables. Stretched out like a lizard on a hot rock waiting for the washing to be dry. And long, long, long goddamn periods out in the bush doing god knows what. He probably got an indoor bathroom installed fairly early on and completely forgot it had a toilet because he was fine just pissing outside. Zee just like "why did you spend money on this??????"
💛 YELLOW HEART — how many languages does your oc speak? what language(s) are they learning, if any?
I need to do more on this. I've directly referenced Dharug, English, Irish, and Te Reo. His French and German are shit and always will be. 404: languages with a built in hierarchy not found. He was pretty content just to absorb languages as they became relevant but he put a LOT of effort into Greek and a very specific type of Italian when he got the pitter-patters for Romano and Herakles in the early 20th century. I'm not sure where the fluency chart would put him but he's got knowledge of Arabic, Mandarin, Indonesian, Balinese and Japanese now. He'll kind of complain about learning another one and a bit about having to use it but then he's a fucken peacock about on the off chance a conversation doesn't happen in the world's dominant global language 😂.

A Touch of Magic season 1 was...um........
Initial thoughts below
Peggy's name is stupid. Thanks Chelsea.
I forgot how much I hate the super bright colors of DA
We still don't get to see Ken's parents. Of course.
Stupid ugly dragon that somehow looks worse than the ones we got all the way back in 2002. Slyder does not count; he is a flying serpent and not a dragon
Arrrlene!!! She's magic?! OH MY GOD
Weirdly enough, Peggy appears to be the one character that does the least until the end. She's more of a plot device than an actual character.
The fact that Skipper immediately embraces the fake reality where she is the oldest was one of the most frustrating things. You literally JUST had character development to prove yourself to Barbie and she finally understood but now you're gonna regress?? Skipper do you really just hate your sister now? I mean I get it; Skipper needs to learn that it's just as hard for Barbie since she's the oldest, but it felt so out of order.
HOW DARE YOU PLAY WITH THE HEARTS OF KARBIE SHIPPERS. We wasted a WHOLE EPISODE where they finally admit they want to be more than friends, only to make them forget at the very end. (That entire episode actually was a waste). Epic Road Trip is the true end of the "main timeline" and you can pry it from my cold dead hands.
Diversity win! The first possibly canon sapphic character in a Barbie property is some rando shopkeeper who never appears again and whose name is only seen in the subtitles! Supposedly, it's Lya, but the Netflix subs can be wrong a lot so I don't even know if we can rely on that. And I'm almost positive she's the first sapphic character but let me know if im wrong.
Lizard Wizard. I just...okay then.
"Malibu" Barbie becomes the chosen one and is the super important hero while "Brooklyn" Barbie takes a back seat. Because of course.
It is interesting, however, what Barbie actually is. Apparently she is the key that connects their world to the magical world because she believes in magic so strongly. Theories forming...
Trey's gets character development again...sorta. It will probably be reset again though so I don't care anymore
All of Malibu's other friends besides Teresa are completely written out this season. We see them briefly at like maybe 2 points but Teresa is the only one that actually gets to stick around do something.
The mermaids are canon to the magical world of Mesmer. Does that mean the mermaid city in Mermaid Power is part of Mesmer??
We actually don't get to see that much of Mesmer and it kinda sucks, but S2 might change that.
Possibly evil unicorn/pegasus tease? Not sure.
Well that was....something
And I swear to god if Karbie isnt canon next season I think I will burst
