pt 1 ! of this story
Tumblr media
after the phone call, you collapsed with tears running down your cheeks. you felt so bad, just because you knew it would stress out mickey on the job but he had the right to know as soon as you knew. he already had so much on his plate, and you just put more on top of it.
your roommate, gen, came home from her job with a slam. “i HATE customers.” she groaned, loud enough for you to hear from your room. “yeah?” you called out, shakily. her eyebrows furrowed, a frown appearing on her face. “you okay baby?” she asked, dropping her bags on the carpet, walking her way to your side of the apartment.
there she saw you, covering yourself as you sat on your floor near your bed. “hey, what’s wrong? is it that BITCH mickey? i will kill him for you, hide the body. what happened?” she quickly asked all the questions, you turned your face to her, covered in your salty tears all around. “i put more- i put more on his plate right now. i feel so bad,” you sniffed out, hiccuping. “oh babes, he understands for sure. he loves you, no?” she responded. “what could possibly be so—” you interrupted her, cringing at yourself. “i’m pregnant.” you whispered.
her eyes widened, her jaw dropping. “oh my..” she whispered, “GOODNESS! i’m gonna be an aunt! hello? my best friend? pregnant? i’m with you all the way. are you gonna keep it? how long are you? how did mickey react, since knowing this reaction of yours.. you told him. was it a good reaction? a bad reaction?” she kept on rambling, then quickly stopped herself. “ignore all of that. that was my bad. how are you feeling? do you need anything?” she asked once more.
“i’m fine.. mickey responded.. what seemed like, fine? i think.. i did not want to tell him on the phone, but i didn’t want him to find out from someone else. i mean- no one else knows, except you of course.. but like- you know?” you mumble. she nods, understanding. “i know. how long until he comes back?” she asked. “two more months.” you answered.
“and how long are you? no wait- i’m assuming you’re a month?” she questioned, you nodded. “i told him as soon as i found out. since he’s the father, he deserves to know.” she hums. “well until he comes home, I’M the father right now.” she smirks, raising her eyebrows and making a face. you giggle, shoving her slightly. “what would i do without you?” you sighed, “crash and burn.” “most definitely.”
and after that conversation, time goes by quickly when you have a best friend like gen. she was always there, going to doctors appointments when mickey couldn’t. updating him when you were busy, keeping true to her word. helping you with everything, even the smallest things that you knew you could do without her help, but she did it anyways.
“i can’t believe you’re the first one of our group to get pregnant,” said another friend of yours, markus. “i was expecting it to be jordon’s.” he finished, side eyeing your other guy friend. “hey man, we’re trying.” he defended. “yea.. well, it definitely wasn’t planned.” you say. “it was a shock to me especially, since we were safe. so safe.” you mumble, “but i just know he’s gonna be the best father all around. i mean, he treats me like i’m sort of queen.” you throw your arms, and your friends giggle.
“well, even if he didn’t want to be apart of the picture, you always have us. and his friends too. they’d drop him for you, especially phoenix.” mason said from the kitchen, you smiled. “not even up to debate. i’m probably the more loved one out of this relationship.” you joke. your friends keep you occupied, talking nonstop. what you didn’t know was gen was texting away, as you were occupied with your friends feeling your little baby bump.
she texted away to mickey, as he told her he was outside, along with her boyfriend bob that also lived in the apartment. she got up, making an excuse to you saying she left something in her car that she needed to be washed.
gen opened the door quietly, greeting her boyfriend with a loving kiss. “it’s been to long mi amor,” she whispers, “i know. i know. i’ve missed you too.” bob spoke softly. “where is she?” mickey asked gen, gen pointed over to the living room and mickey thanked her. he left his combat boots by the door, as well as his duffle bag. your friends noticed him, but kept their surprise face into turning. you were faced towards your friends, your back deep into the comfort of your couch. mickey slowly crouched down to your level, his arms on the couch as he snuggled his face into the side of your neck. you froze- slightly turning to the side to see your loving boyfriend back home.
“oh my GOD” you yelled, a friend of yours video taping the whole thing. you jumped up from the couch, standing on top of it and facing him. you hugged him, and he hugged you back just as much, not as tight as he would the last time he came back home, but just enough. “i’ve missed you too,” he laughed, kissing your cheek and breathing in deep. “let’s go- we’re gonna-” you told him, then to your friends as you signaled your room.
you grabbed his hand, leading him away from your friend group and into your room. he closed the door, locking it. you placed your body on him, your arms wrapping around. “i’ve missed you.” you whispered, running your hands slowly down his back in patterns. he hummed, “i know.” he whispered back, kissing your forehead a few times. “has the baby started kicking?” he asked. you hummed, “slightly. it just started happening.” you placed your hand on your three month tiny bump, he placed his on yours.
“three months down, six more to go.” he kissed your forehead. “i-” he stuttered, as the two of you got comfy onto the bed. well, him taking off his work clothes and getting into his pajamas. “i’ve been thinking..” he whispered. “after you have the baby of course, i don’t want to add anymore stress on to the both of us.” he quickly said. “let’s get married. after.” he placed his hand in yours, looking you in the eyes. your eyes widened, and he panicked. “i- i know some people do the knee kneeling and all the usual perks of asking someone to be married to them, but since we’re already having- oh but i didn’t really think of what you..” he kept rambling, his cheeks flushed with pink and embarrassment.
“baby,” you speak softly. he didn’t hear, he was too focused on how stupid of the conversation he just started to have with you. “baby..” you place your hand on his shoulder, snapping him out of it. “you’re right. i got pregnant before getting married, it’s okay for you to ask it normally like a question. it’s definitely a thought in our heads.” you spoke. “but yes, i’d love to definitely get married to you after we have this baby.” you smile, your forehead touching his. his smile widened, his eyes glistening.
“oh shit.” he mumbled, “have we told our parents?”

"Why do you call him that?"
It was one of those rare evenings where they were working in the same space, together. He was finishing some extra homework on coffee table, sitting on the ground near the fire, and Ukthi was on the couch, programming her latest project.
It wasn't common they had time to just be together, alone. Both their schedules were packed and they led very different lives. Regardless, Damian enjoyed these moments even more because of their rarity.
They were alone, everyone else out doing their own thing, so it was just the two of them. The blood siblings. Standing together and bonding as they should. As they always should've.
Not so long ago, she wouldn't stand being in the same room as him, too scared and too resentful to so much acknowledge him, so the fact they've come to moments like these are proof of how much they've advanced in their relationship.
Of course, Damian doesn't blame her. With time, he's come to the realisation of the extense of the pain his actions inflicted on her, and the dreadful consequences that came afterwards. She has every right to resent him, even to try and claim revenge upon him. He's grateful she gave him a chance, as fragile as it feels sometimes.
Which is why he tries his best to strengthen their newly found bond, to value every second of these rare moments as if they were the last. Each one feels a step closer to redemption for his mistakes, his agravations against his sister.
He can't speak for the others, but it's not his bussiness to care whether they're trying too. They should be aware of their actions as well, just like he does. And frankly, he doesn't want them to intervene now. To interrupt his time with her and steal her attention.
"What do you mean?", she looks up at him with a confused gaze (not so long ago, she never looked at him in the eyes. Having her turn her attention towards him still makes him feel weird)
But there's been something pestering his mind lately. A question. An enigma he can't quite understand. Something only she can give him the answer to.
"Why do you refer to our father like that?"
She visibly tenses, but her face doesn't betray any particular emotion.
He would admire her for such skill, if it wasn't so damn effective against him as well. He hates not being able to read her out of all people.
They're supposed to be understand each other better than anyone.
"Like what?"
He squints his eyes at her in annoyance.
"You know what I mean."
"Is it because I call him Bruce instead? Well, everyone else does. It feels more natural. You're the weird one in this house, Dami."
He ignores the flutter in his chest when she calls him that.
"Yeah, but that's because the others aren't really his children. They're not used to call him anything else."
Besides, he's sure he heard Richard and Tim call him Dad a few times. Accidentally, but still...
At first he didn't pay mind. Mostly because they were still on thin ice and he refused to entertain her presence any more than he had to, but he it was there.
"Tell your father to stop treating me like a baby. I don't need his concern now."
"Your father is an asshole sometimes."
Then they started to patch things up, spend more time around each other, and he started to notice it more.
"Should I tell your dad you got into another fight?"
"Geez, your dad really needs to improve his security system already."
He thought it was some joke. A form of protest against Father's authority, like Todd likes to do. He was her big brother the most afterall, he must've influenced her a bit.
But she kept doing it. And when she does, it comes out so...naturally from her. As if she doesn't think deeper of it. As if it's normal.
He needs to know why.
"Why do you always say 'your father' or 'your dad' when we talk about him?"
Silence.
Her fingers twitch on the keyboard. She shifts in her seat, suddenly avoiding his eyes.
"Well, he's your father, isn't he?"
She replies nonchalantly, like she's just stating a fact and doesn't understand what he means. Her face going neutral once again.
But Damian knows better.
He has had time to know her better.
He's willing to admit now that he failed her. There's no excuse for it. To say they weren't always on the best terms is an euphemism. A sanitised version of the events.
When they first met, she tried to bond with him, like everybody else. Seeing like a misguided child who needed help, and his newly found younger brother. But Damian hadn't appreciated her intentions, nice as they were.
Back then, he was still fresh from the League, from his grandfather and mother's teachings, and he just found out he wasn't Batman's only biological kid. That he wasn't even his firstborn. He had a blood sister, and the traitorous voices in his head (sounding suspiciously like Mother) whispered how she was a threat to his position. That she stood in the way to his birthright.
And he listened. Acted accordingly how he was taught and tried to slice her throat on her sleep. Eliminate the threat. That act was what sealed it.
Even if he couldn't bring himself to finish the job in the end, he still ruined whatever chances he might've had to have a solid bond with his only blood sibling. Years passed, both living under the same roof, yet the distance only grew.
By the time the regrets were eating at him, it was too late. It has taken him blood, sweat and tears to simply be allowed to stay in the same room as her. And how could he blame her? He still has dreams of that night, when his sword draw a line that separated her throat and her blood coated everything around them.
They've gone a long way since those days. Yet he feels there's still a lot more to do.
"He's your father too." He replies. "Ours."
Silence again.
She inhales deeply, and exhales like it weights on her.
"It's a bit more complicated for me, Damian."
"Why?"
He doesn't understand. Sure, he knows Father might've not been the best at it, especially with her, but he's still Father. Hey the ribbon that ties them both together through blood.
So why does she never say "ours"? Why does she keep denying their connection?
Why does she keep separating herself from Damian?
He wants to understand.
"He's been a father to you, to everyone. Not to me. Never to me. Therefore, don't expect me to call him something that he's not."
"But he is—"
"Not for me."
The sudden coldness in her tone makes him flinch. It leaves no room for reply.
It's been a while since he's heard it directed at him. He hoped to never hear it again.
She seems to notice, for she relaxes her expressions instantly and sighs with a regretful face. She finally sets her laptop aside and turns her body to face him.
"Look, Damian. You're a smart kid. Probably one of the sharpest I know. But there's stuff you simply can't understand, and this is one of those."
He frowns at her words. "I'm not a kid. You can tell me."
"I just did and you still didn't get it."
"Then help me to!"
Her eyes look straight into his own. Baby blue eyes, identical to Father's, piercing at him with a severity that reminds Damian of the times he's been on the receiving end of a dissapointed look from other set eyes just like those...
Blood is thicker than water, indeed.
No matter how much she tries to deny it. It's there, within her, running through her veins. In her very core. She's Bruce Wayne's daughter in all ways.
And his sister.
"Damian," she speaks up again, and something in the way she says his name makes him sit up straigher. "I understand you love him. He cares for you. You've been taught since birth who he is and how you're meant to be an extension of him. Of his legacy or whatever bullshit your mother told you. But to me," she sighs again, averting her eyes towards a wall. "To me he's just the man that lets my and my family live in his house. Someone I share DNA with, and that could be a potential candidate to give me blood or a kidney shall I need it. That's it."
"But—"
"Let me finish." He shuts his mouth inmediately. "He's never been there for me. I didn't even know he was my father until Mum brought me here. And in all the years I've been here, living under his roof with his surname, he hasn't even tried to bond with me. I worked myself to exhaustion just for his attention, to make him proud, but I got nothing. He's made me feel Iike I wasn't enough, like I didn't deserve his love or anyone else's but my mother's." Her voice cracks at the last part, making Damian's chest ache at it. His hand twitch with the need to reach out for her, but thinks better of it.
They're not close enough yet for her to accept his comfort. She would take it as pity and close herself off again.
So he stops himself. No matter how much he wants to try. How much the sight of her unshed tears in the corner of her eyes hurt him.
She shakes her head as if to snap herself out of it, rubbing her eyes with her fingers like she was cleaning off some sweat. She coughs softly and looks back at him. The wet glint in her eyes gone.
"He's your father, Damian. Not mine. That's why I'll always refer to him as such. Because it's what he is. Because that's just how things are, and I'll appreciate it if you accepted it already."
"But he—"
"Damian, please." It's the first time he hears her pleading at him for anything. It unsettles him. "Let's not talk about this anymore, okay? I'm tired. And you won't get it no matter how much I try to explain it. So, let's leave it here."
For once, he doesn't insist.
Not because he's satisfied with her answers. Far from it, even. But because he's never heard her use that tone with him nor anyone. Just like he's never heard her voice crack when talking.
His sister is a proud and stubborn creature. She would rather stab herself than so much admit she needs help. Has gone unhealthy lenghts to appear strong even when she isn't.
So for her to display this fraction of vulnerability, although accidentally...it means she's had enough.
And Damian has to respect that.
Last thing he wants is to push her away.
"Alright." He replies, his tone betraying how unsatisfied he is at how the converstation ended. "I'm sorry, Ukthi." He mutters sheepishly, but she hears him.
She smiles, gently. "Thank you, Dami."
It's embarassing something so simple makes his heart flutter so much and his cheeks redden. He scowls, pretending to be annoyed, and tries to return his attention to the book while she chuckles.
For a moment, everything is at peace. Ignoring the storm in his heart at the revelations and feeling like a piece of the world fell on him.
Having the same father is precisely what ties them together. It's the core of their bond, the reason they exist in the first place. They both have his blood running through their veins, something no one else can understand. Being Bruce Wayne's heir is a weight he can only share with his blood sister.
To know she doesn't even acknowledge Father as her own, that she draws an invisible line between her and Damian without realising...it stings in a way he can't explain. It worries him too.
Because if she were to officially deny her connection with Bruce Wayne, she could separate herself from all of them. Damian included.
He doesn't want that. He can't allow that. She's his sister. His. He can't lose her. Her place is right there, with him and Father, standing by their side when—
"What are you guys whispering about? Can I join?"
Oh, and here he was thinking it was going to be a peaceful evening.
As if his sister's sincerity hadn't shaken him enough, now he has to endure the most agravating thing of all there is.
Timothy Drake.
He doesn't care it's Drake-Wayne in paper. He refuses to recognise this asshole, this traitorous worthless worm, as his family.
To make it worse, Ukhti inmediately turns her face towards him, rising her eyebrow in a playful manner.
"I though you were going to be busy today."
He looks at her with the same kind of expression.
"I wrapped it up earlier than I planned. Crazy, uh?"
Damian's eye twitches, his hand clenching dangerously around the edge of the book. He calculates the right angle to kill Drake if he throws it at him.
The bastard has the gall to stare at her as if she's the only one in the room. In front of him.
He dreads to think what else they might've been doing behind everyone's backs..
She doesn't notice the growing wrath coming from her brother, still looking back at the intruder with a smile.
"And you decided to come and spend time with us instead? I'm flattered."
"Well, maybe I missed you, guys." He shrugged his shoulders, placing his hands on her shoulders from behind her seat, brushing her hair out of the way. "And I don't trust you out of my sight so long. Who knows what you'll be up to?"
She gasps dramatically.
"Me? I don't know what you mean. I'm an angel. Isn't that right, Dami?"
It's then when Drake finally looks at him...with the utmost indifference.
"Oh, hi there, Damian. I didn't see you from here."
Damian exhales through his nose. Oh, there are so many ways he could tear this son of a bitch apart. He deserves a slow, painful death. Fitting for his crime.
The nerve of displaying his indecency so openly when he's there, not caring at all...Damian wants nothing more but make him bleed out with his sword
If only he told Father. He knows he would punish Drake accordingly, but insisting enough, he probably wouldn't mind allowing Damian to take care of it himself.
But he can's say anything for now.
Ever since he caught them that afternoon in Drake's bedroom, kissing like it wasn' the first time nor the second, he's been spiralling almost to insanity on how to deal with the discovery. One only he is aware of.
He told himself he will wait to the right moment. Drake is a damn genius, there's no way he would fall for a trap. Hell, he's always two steps ahead of everyone, including Batman sometimes.
No. Damian knows better. He has no option but wait. If he exposed them now, it might hurt Ukthi more than Drake himself. And Damian won't let that happen.
So he tries to focus back to this book, telling himself that it's okay if Drake sits right next to her, way too close to be appropiate. He closes his eyes and counts back to ten when he hears the asshole whisper something in her ear that makes her giggle and punch him in the arm softly.
I'm right here, you piece of shit.
Right on cue..
"My little brother is here, idiot. Don't push it." He hears her mutter back.
Now it's his turn to get flustered.
Of course, she'll be the one with decency and consideration out of the two. Another reminder of how Drake doesn't deserve her at all.
"And? He has his own bedroom. He can leave if he wants."
Damian feels his face burn with rage back again.
Oh, Timothy, you're so dead. You're a dead-man walking and you don't even know.
She lets out an annoyed sigh, promptly turning her face away from him.
"I'm not going to kick him out to his bedroom. He was here first."
Yeah, that's right. He was here first. He's been her brother far longer than Drake has been...whatever the hell he is to her. If anything, he's the one who should leave.
Maybe forever. Damian will be more than happy to help with the process.
Completely oblivious to the younger boy's annoyance, or simply not caring, he wraps an arm around her shoulders and brings her closer to him, much to the boy's horror.
Without a single sign of decorum, he lays his cheek against the crown of her head and sighs pitifully. While attaching himself around his Ukthi like a snake.
"C'mon, I've been working my ass relentessly these past days. Barely got to sleep at all. Don't you feel sorry for me?" He whispers again.
She lifts her head to look at him, a playful glint in her eyes.
"And what do you want me to do about that?"
"I don't know. Maybe you could join me on my naps."
She huffs, her eyes still locked in his.
"As if you'd ever behave long enough for us to actually nap."
"Hey, not my fault you look so damn cute sleeping in my shirts. I'm just a man, you know?"
She chuckles, shaking her head.
"Right. Poor you, unable to repress your manly impulses when a helpess girl is in your arms."
It's him who chuckles this time.
"Helpless my ass. You know exactly what you do to me."
"Is that so?"
She tilts her head innocently at him, blinking like she doesn't understand what he means.
Damian closes his book loudly enough to make them both snap out of it and look at him.
Tim merely raises an eyebrow.
"Oh, you're still here? Don't you have homework to do or something, Dami?"
The boy ignores him and stands up, walking towards his Ukthi. He clenches his fists when she tries to remove Drake's arm from her shoulders when he approaches, but the bastard tightens his hold.
I will make you beg for mercy, Drake. Just you wait.
"It was a pleasing evening, Sister. I hope we can repeat it soon enough."
She nods at him with a surprised glance.
"Oh, of course. I won't mind, I think?"
He smiles at her, heading to his bedroom to and cut his pillow into million pieces with his sword as he pictures Drake's face in it.
And as if the son of a bitch hasn't aggravated him enough..
"Goodbye to you too, Dami. Geez, what's up with him today?"
One day.
One day, Drake, I will make you pay.
Just right before he turns the corner of the hallway, he throws a look at them.
His sister is laying completely against the worm, relaxed in a way that's not usual in her. They keep whispering, and she drops her head into his shoulder. Burying her nose in it with her eyes closed in what seems like a pained expression.
And in that moment, Damian's heart beat stronger, fuelled by something else than anger.
He might not be your father, he thinks. But you'll always be my sister.
That's right. It doesn't matter how much Father has failed her. How everyone else in this house seems to have abandoned her in some way or another.
Because he'll be by her side forever.
I'll protect you and care for you no matter what.
Even if that means getting rid of one of his brothers to do so.

𝐆𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭
cw: bodyguard!bucky x princess!reader, fluff, mentions of a potential familial death, diplomacy, eventual lovers wc: 2k
Tumblr media
Bucky’s job is stressful. Not because it’s hard, well it is, but more so because it’s you.
You’re next in line for the throne in Bran, Romania, and you’re a real piece of work.
Bucky had been recruited by your father, he’d wanted to secure your safety before the announcement of his illness.
A vulnerable position of power is the easiest position to destabilize.
Bucky doesn’t like you because you’re so fucking likeable.
The people adore you, to the point where you accompanied your father through the streets multiple times a week before he’d gotten ill and shook hands with bakers, and taught little kids how to catch birds. The point is, the country loves you.
You’re blinded with their love and don’t think people could actually want to hurt you, and this is where Bucky’s stress from his job comes from.
You’re so cavalier with your safety that he’s almost tempted to tell your father you’d be safer handcuffed to your bedpost.
“Princess, we have to leave.” He says through your heavy oak door.
Bucky’s been waiting for you for the last half hour. You have an event tonight, and while keeping the rest of the local nobility waiting is fine, he’s not so sure if the ones traveling to see you will appreciate it.
It’s another five minutes before you open your doors, your hair pinned up perfectly and your dress a deep red, looking almost like it’s been blood soaked.
“I told you to stop calling me that, Agent Barnes.” You say that just to watch his jaw tick in annoyance, just as you know Bucky calls you ‘princess’ to annoy you.
You somehow manage to look vicious and delicate at the same time. Bucky hates to admit it, but you’re damn stunning and it makes this job even worse.
When he just stares at you, you just shrug and fix the crown you’re supposed to wear tonight.
“It’s not like we’ve far to go, Bucky.”
You say offhandedly, relishing in the way Bucky exhales slowly and gestures for you to follow him.
“Will you be silent all night?” You ask as you near the entertainment hall. You like Bucky, and despite the silly things you do and his reactions to said silly things, you know he likes you too.
Deep, deep down.
Bucky glances sideways at you, “Will you listen when I speak tonight?”
The walk to the hall is silent after that.
The night goes off without a hitch, you speak with diplomacy that you can’t teach. You’re a people person and they all flock to you and you handle them all with poise.
Bucky stands just far away not to hear any of the conversations, but close enough that he can snatch you away if anything goes awry.
Even if you choose to ignore it, people in this hall want you dead because of the power your family has, and they’d be happy to capitalize on any possible moments to carry that threat to actuality.
You turn to Bucky, “How many more of them do I have to speak to?” You sound tired, your eyes look a little red and Bucky notices you shifting from foot to foot and wonders if you’re as uncomfortable as you look.
“Two more. There’s still Carmilla and then Hector.” You scowl at his name. Hector’s a little sleezy, much too handsy for the title of Duke. One of your curls is coming undone from where it was pinned away, swaying when you sigh.
Bucky watches your hand move to tuck it away, eyes tracking every movement.
“And I can leave after that? To go see father?”
“Yes.”
Bucky watches as you straighten your back as Carmilla comes to greet you, any ounce of tiredness flooding your bones as you plaster a smile and answer all her questions.
Hector comes after, hand hovering near your hip and Bucky has to stop himself from snapping his wrist. He doesn’t like Hector because Bucky knows his family have had claims to the throne in the past and should anything happen to you after your father’s death, their claim can have better standing.
It’s another hour before you can leave, Bucky following behind you as you make your way to the West Wing where your father is.
You can hear him whispering into his ear piece, but you’re not that concerned with whoever he’s speaking to.
“When do you change shifts?”
Bucky raises an eyebrow, “Ready to be rid of me, princess?”
You turn back and scowl at him, if Bucky wasn’t aware of your soft nature, he’d be a little intimidated.
“I don’t want Niklaus on the nightshift.”
Bucky nods, there was an incident a few months back and since then you make sure to ask him every night that Niklaus isn’t the one on night shift.
Bucky still doesn’t know what ‘the incident’ is, you refused to tell him, but he makes sure that Niklaus is on duty for your father during the day.
“It’s Alexei and Torres tonight.” you nod, pleased that it’s the Russian. He tells good stories.
When you reach your father’s room, Bucky swears you shrink. It amazes him, how you seem to revert to this younger version of yourself whenever you know your dad will be around. Not meek, just young.
“Steve, how was he?” you ask the man guarding your father. You know he’s Bucky’s friend, the pair always eat together when they’re off duty at the same time.
He’s pretty, with nice blue eyes and shoulders, but you can’t help but notice he’s just not as ruggedly handsome as Bucky. It’s a thing you’ve done recently, compare everyone to Bucky Barnes; and it’s a dangerous thing to do.
“Better, he kept asking for you after supper. Said he’s waiting on you to have albinita.” You smile sadly, Bucky hates what your father’s illness is doing to you.
“Papa?” You knock gently at the door.
There’s a cough and then your father’s answering Romanian.
You push open the door, Bucky walking in behind you but he sticks to the shadows when you approach your father’s bed. You give your crown to Bucky, “I don’t want it to cut him.” He nods and holds it on his finger.
You climb into bed with your father,  one hand resting on his chest and the other on his head, black hair slipping through your fingers like water.
“I missed you,” you murmur in Romanian, smiling when your father turns to kiss your wrist.
“I missed you too, Floricică,” his bony hand reaches for your face, you lean into his cold palm.
Your eyes shut involuntarily, tears springing to your eyes as the scent of amber and earth hit your nose.
Memories of your father play behind your eyes; him with you in the garden, helping you pick the right flowers, or him helping you with strategy studies and foreign languages. More attack you, of him when you were younger when he would chase you through the halls and scoop you up to his chest, his black hair tickling your face as he kissed your cheeks.
“I’m sorry all of this is on you.”
“Papa, it’s okay. It’s not your fault.”
You don’t really have any feelings about your duties, this is your job and you will do it well. You just wish your father could be around to see it.
You shake the sad thoughts away before they can fester any more, “Did you like the paprikash?”
Your father scoffs, eyes narrowing playfully, “Not a real paprikash. Did you ask them not to give me the egg noodles?”
You shrug, more sheepish than Bucky has ever seen you. “It’s not good for you right now, papa. Neither is the paprikash, but it was yours and mama’s favourite.”
Bucky can’t help but feel a little swell of sadness as he watches you lay your head on your father’s shoulder. The old man’s frail hand reaches for your cheek and lays there for a while. “I love you.”
Bucky can tell by your shaky inhale you’re tearing up. This is ripping you apart.
“I love you too, Papa.” You stay on his chest a while longer, listening to his heart thump steadily under your ear. It’s strong and it makes you feel just a little more hopeful. “Are you up for Go tonight?”
He sighs, a cough racking his chest. “Maybe I’ll watch you and James play instead while I have some tea and a slice of albinita?”
You kiss his temple and move to the table where the cakes are.
“No, I couldn’t. Pretend I’m not here.” Bucky mumbles, but your father turns to him with that same pleading look you give him when you’re trying to convince him to let you go into town for something.
It’s no less compelling when your father does it.
You turn to Bucky, smiling because you know your father is buttering him up. What’s one more Ţepeş pout? “Will you make me beg, James? It’s impolite, you know; to make a princess beg.”
He rolls his eyes and your father smirks, “Stop teasing him, Floricică.”
Bucky nods towards the little table where you have the game set up from the night before.
“Will you use honey tonight or pretend?” Your father asks as he sits up on the bed as you go to make his tea.
“Papa,” you turn back to him, smiling when you see a little colour in his face. He’s still pale, but his cheeks are pink and his raven black hair make him look a little more alive than this morning. “I’ll add a little.”
You feel bad denying him twice in an hour. “And milk, Floricică?”
You narrow your eyes at him, still you put a little milk in the tea and hand it to him. “What about you Bucky? Tea?”
He shakes his head, you make him a cup anyway. No milk, one sugar, just the way he likes it.
You watch your father take the first bite of the cake, a smile on your face as he shuts his eyes to savor the taste. You shake your head and turn to Bucky, “Ready to lose?”
Bucky doesn’t win a game of Go much to your delight, you’re not bashful enough to leave your wins at that. “Maybe you should come to strategy meetings with me, Bucky.”
Your father shakes his head, “Floricică.” It makes you chuckle.
Despite you making his job hard, Bucky likes when you’re relaxed like this.
You spend another ten minutes with your father before you have to go, duty calls and whatnot. Plus you want him to sleep tonight.
“He looks better, yes?” you ask Steve as you shut his door, turning to the guard who’s dressed similarly to Bucky.
Steve’s blue eyes settle on your face, a tender smile on his lips. “He’s always better when you visit, Princess.”
You know what he means- your father is putting on a show for you. Bucky watches your shoulders slump and your smile slip. He glares at Steve over your head, “The doctors haven’t said anything about changing his medicine in three weeks, that’s good news, Princess.” Steve is quick to add that on, and it’s true, the doctors are happy with him. You just hope that this is enough.
“Thank you Steve, I hope Alexei comes soon.” he bids you goodnight as you walk down the hall to your bedroom, Bucky right behind you.
You sigh as you reach your door, your shoulders squared as you move to push the door open.
“He’s not got long does he, Bucky?”
God, his heart hurts. Bucky doesn’t know the details of your relationship, but it’s clear that it’s full of love.
“We shouldn’t jump to conclusions, Princess. If the doctors aren’t worried, we shouldn’t be either.”
You nod once, not turning to look back at him. “Goodnight, Bucky.”
He stands at your door until Torres comes to take his place. “Goodnight, doll.”

On tumblr when you post you’re just playing Russian roulette with your post getting attention, but it’ll probably get ignored.
On Reddit any comment you make outside of some very niche community will immediately have someone downvoting you and calling you like, three different insults. Then they will wonder why you only log in every couple months. Like, it’s a very helpful website when you have a question for another community you’re in, but you’ll also get someone being immediately hostile when you make an innocuous post on a garden subreddit 😑
At least on tumblr people have to actually seek out your random ass text posts and go out of their way to start shit, and you don’t have the up and down vote system that feels like playing with my self confidence and worth issues.
Both websites are toxic part of the time (what social media isn’t?) and both are actually more useful for weird people, but holy shit does Reddit feel more aggressive about shit. Maybe it’s just the devil you know, but at least on this mess of a website half your hate will be for the most random shit and misunderstandings that people have to seek out finding if your blog is a normal size. Reddit is either posting on a dead sub or getting immediately thrown to the, well, sharks and wolves aren’t actually super aggressive towards humans under normal circumstances, so something else that could tear you apart instantly for just existing in the same space as them.
#emma posts#there’s a reason i stopped spending as much time on that site#multiple actually. but one of them is that website is like ‘rsd trigger simulator’#and tumblr is like ‘how dare you say we piss on the poor’#everyone is an idiot in both places. but one is instantly more volatile#it’s preactically on sight#other social media is mostly being used by me to post my art or talk to irl friends and family#some of those sites are wild. but not in such an instant way#provided you aren’t huge or have some internet hate stalker#my first deviantart account was wild like that. you phrase something awkwardly at the age of 13 and you suddenly have one or two 16ish year#olds stalking you and telling you to Kys and threatening your family#but that was in the old days. haven’t run into that in years#but seriously. whoever those people were. I hope you feel like shit about those past actions#especially because that 13 year old had made art and posts about her depression 😑#and irl bullying#I hope you got better. sincerely. but if not? die#jk. but still#actually. no. if you’re still telling people that sort of thing try it on yourself#i don’t have a twitter. I don’t plan on getting one. but I’ve heard that’s toxic too. but for the brief time I did try it years ago I was#just ignored by most people#I also like websites where you can share other posts with followers but that might be because one of my first socials was facebook#Facebook is still useful for local stuff. but it’s not as anonymous I guess#even on Facebook though it feels somewhat less ‘on sight attacking#but gods. the ‘piss poor reading comprehension’ website is so much more comfortable than the ‘dog piled for asking about a plant’ website#and the ‘just block them’ culture is so useful#i make a post on Reddit like ‘anyone know of houseplants that are like this?’ and have some dude downvote me and respond like#‘are we supposed to be your servants’ like dude. just ignore the post if you don’t want to answer the question#and I’m not touching anime subs with a 10ft pole#looked at one once and went ‘never touching that again’

“What is wrong with you?”
These being the first words Taehyung directs at you when you enter the kitchen at 9 in the morning makes you want to claw his eyes out and head back to bed again.
“I’d fight you if I wasn’t sleepy right now,” you mutter as you shove past him to get to the coffee machine.
“No, I’m being for real,” Taehyung says, inspecting you through critical eyes.
“I’m not wearing make-up. Get over it.”
“It’s not that,” he presses. “You’ve been acting strange the past few days.”
He catches you off-guard with that. You can’t think of a lie fast enough to cover up the fact that you’ve been kinda dumped by his best friend and are no longer fuck buddies, hard times, so you blink a few times to keep your composure.
Your brain, struggling to function at this hour, lands on the most groundbreaking response: “Huh?”
“You didn’t want chicken when I asked if I should bring you some yesterday.” Taehyung crosses his arms, leaning against the counter.
“I already ate when you called,” you quickly – maybe too quickly? You don’t know – defend yourself as you watch the coffee stream into your mug.
“Right. Tell me one time – just one – where you’ve turned down chicken.” He raises an eyebrow. “By the way, I still got you some. It’s in the fridge. But I knew something was up, because you never-”
“Wait, really?” you cut him off, perking up. “You got me chicken?”
You rush to the fridge, flinging the door open. There isn’t much in there to begin with, so it’s easy to spot your beloved meal. You grab it and get it ready for the microwave.
Taehyung completely ignores your excitement over the food and continues his questioning.
“You didn’t react when I switched one of your reality tv shows for something else the other day.”
Did he? You don’t even remember that happening.
“You came home after a long day. I was just being a sweet sister,” you deflect, waving him off.
“Point is – I can tell when my baby sister is sad. And I don’t need you to feign indifference for me, because it’s okay not to be okay,” he says, gentle. “And I wish you’d come to me about whatever this is to make you feel better, because, I don’t know, I thought that’s what we’ve been doing as siblings.”
Your heart squeezes.
He just wants to comfort you. Be there for you. And it clearly pains him that you’ve been keeping this from him.
“No, yeah, I know, it’s just.” God, you hate this. Having to lie to him. “It’s honestly not that serious, Tae. I’m just being dramatic about it, you know how I am.” You try to laugh it off, but he doesn’t let it deceive him.
“It’s about a boy, isn’t it?”
You need to tweak your acting skills. And your reactions too, because why did you look away after he asked you that?
“A boy?” You stretch the word out in an exaggerated drag to make his inquisition sound ridiculous. “There’s no boy in my life.”
“If I find out Eunwoo is causing trouble, I’ll-”
“God, no.” You shake your head vehemently. “He’s fine. He’s not doing anything.”
You retrieve the chicken from the microwave and set it next to your coffee. A questionable breakfast choice, but right now, comfort food is comfort food.
“Want some?” you offer, grabbing your chopsticks.
Taehyung sighs deeply, shaking his head. His lips press into a thin line, but there’s no anger – just concern softening his features. “Wanna talk about it?” He pauses, voice dropping lower. “Who do I have to fight?”
Your stupid best friend, who walked out on me because, apparently, he doesn’t like it when I’m with other boys and was so dramatic about it, but I lowkey do understand him because I don’t like seeing him with other girls too but I can’t tell him because I don’t want him to know that I care and maybe everything is my fault but I am sad and upset and I can’t tell you anything about it because you’d hate me for it.
You keep these thoughts to yourself though and bite into a piece of chicken instead.
“Tae, no.”
“To both of my questions?”
“Mhm-hmm,” you answer with your mouth full.
His shoulders slump in defeat.
Placing your chopsticks down, you step forward and wrap your arms around him.
“You’re an amazing brother, Tae,” you mumble against his chest. “And I promise that I’m doing fine. You’d know if I wasn’t. I think I’m just getting my period soon, honestly. I’ve been hating everything and everyone lately.” You squeeze him tight. “But I love you.”
“I love you,” he replies, resting his chin on your head. “You’d come to me if you needed me, right?”
“Of course. I love to annoy you about my problems.”
You feel his chuckle rumble through his chest.
“You’re coming to dinner with us after the game, right?”
You draw you head back slightly, peering up at him.
“Define us.”
Taehyung’s brows knit together.
“Like, everyone.”
You so don’t want to see Jungkook. It’s been a week since he left you confused in your room.
Detangling yourself from Taehyung, you shoot him an unimpressed pout. “I don’t know if I’m in the mood for that many people.”
“I’m not gonna let you lock yourself up in your room, ___,” he says, a slight edge creeping into his voice. “You can bedrot another day.”
He’s right – you probably should socialise a little more. And with so many people around, you might not even notice Jungkook’s presence.
“I’ll come,” you relent defeatedly, picking up your tray with breakfast. “Good luck with the game.” You reach up on your tippy toes to ruffle his hair with your free hand, earning an exasperated groan from him.
~
So, when you thought you could just ignore Jungkook at dinner, you failed to consider one crucial detail – the universe lives to humble you. Because, of course, out of all the empty seats, he had to take the one right next to you. Rookie mistake. Amateur behaviour. A tragic miscalculation on your part.
Now, you’re stuck playing the world’s most intense game of Pretending He Doesn’t Exist, which, unfortunately, is pretty difficult when he’s breathing in your general direction.
“Can you guys believe that I got a C for my essay?” Seokjin announces after chomping down a big piece of meat.
“Was it the one with the ducks?” Jungkook questions.
“Yeah, I was so excited to hand it in ‘cause I had so much fun writing, and then I get a C.” Seokjin tilts his head in remorse. “I was at a Lotte World parking lot when I got the notification, and it felt like someone stole my firstborn. I hope that never happens to me, I don’t think I could go through the emotions a second time. Honestly, not even the bumper cars could distract me after that.”
“Sure you don’t wanna sign up for drama class?” Taehyung teases. “You’d be such an asset to it.”
“I’m so close to doing it.”
“Wait, you wrote an essay about ducks?” you ask.
“Not just about ducks, silly,” Seokjin explains. “I wrote an essay on whether someone would rather fight 100 duck-sized horses or 1 horse-sized duck. You know, deep stuff like answering questions if it is morally better to fight one large opponent or many small ones.”
“What would the world do without you, Jin,” Yoongi chimes in.
“I’d choose one horse-sized duck, I think,” Eunji says, who thankfully sits next to you, so you’re not completely surrounded by people who you dislike (yes, you might’ve forced her to come with you – she wanted to study in the library, but you dragged her here with the promise of showering her with your never-ending love).
“But a duck so big is scary, no?” you ponder, tapping your chopsticks against your mouth as you think.
Listening in on your conversation, Jungkook says, “The horse-sized duck would be easier.”
You frown, turning to him. “That thing would be massive, and it’s a duck. Ducks are unpredictable.”
“Okay, but 100 duck-sized horses would overwhelm you,” he argues. “You’re assuming they’re just gonna stand there like cute little ponies. What if they’re really aggressive? They’d be all over you, biting, kicking. That’s chaotic.”
“How would you manage fighting a huge duck, though? I don’t see that happening,” you scoff.
“I’m not saying it wouldn’t be hard, but at least it’s just one thing to focus on. It’s straightforward.” Jungkook leans back, dragging his gaze over your face before he says, “But of course you’d prefer the more chaotic solution.”
You raise your eyebrows. “What are you on about?”
You’re talking about ducks and horses. Or so you thought.
Jungkook shrugs. “Nothing. I just think your decision is stupid.”
His eyes don’t waver, and you don’t back down either, because what the hell? Jungkook’s picking a fight over nonsense and has the audacity to glare at you like you personally offended him. His brows are drawn tight, frustration evident in the sharpness of his expression.
As you glare back, you can’t stop your brain from taking an unexpected detour to memories in which Jungkook wore a similar expression. On top of you, a little sweaty, cheeks flushed and – oh my god, you feel the heat rush to your cheeks and swiftly turn away.
“You’re annoying,” you mumble under your breath, picking up your chopsticks again.
Where did these thoughts come from? Do you miss him? It’s been one week. You need a distraction.
"See how riveting my essay topic is?” Seokjin chimes in, pointing his chopsticks at the two of you. “A C is criminally underappreciated.”
“I don’t think anyone can get under ___ skin like Jungkook,” Taehyung chuckles, placing more meat onto your plate.
“Oh no, don’t worry, you still take the first place,” you quip.
“Don’t say that too loud. Jungkook’s too competitive.”
“He’s a mini version of you.” You turn to Jungkook when you say it, scrunching your nose to display your dismay.
“There’s nothing mini about Jungkook,” Yoongi interjects.
The boys laugh while Eunji and you choke on your food.
“Okay, gross?” Eunji coughs.
“What? Have you not seen his muscles? He’s a big guy,” Seokjin defends, eyes wide as he studies Jungkook’s physique. “That’s no secret.”
“That’s why Sooyoung wants him again,” Jimin teases with a wicked grin stretching across his face.
“Oh, fuck off.” Jungkook kicks him under the table. “I said we’re not talking about this.”
At the mention of a name that rings a bell but you can't quite place it yet – one Jungkook clearly doesn’t want brought up – you perk up. “Not talking about what?”
It’s silent next to you.
Jungkook tenses, his posture stiff, the only giveaway a rough, forced clearing of his throat.
One game. You miss one game, and apparently, all the drama unfolds without you.
“You should’ve been there, ___,” Jimin drawls, eyes twinkling with mischief. “His ex was practically his personal cheerleader.”
Your brows lift as you turn to Jungkook. “Sooyoung, huh?”
You never got the chance to meet Jungkook’s ex. He was dating her during your senior year of high school, and they broke up while you were still in school.
His jaw tightens, but he doesn’t look at you. Instead, he focuses way too hard on his plate, shoving a piece of meat into his mouth like it’s the most interesting thing in the world and then finishing his beer in a few, big sips.
Jimin, on the other hand, is thriving on the attention. “Oh, yeah,” he hums. “Front-row seat. Didn’t take her eyes off him.”
At that, Jungkook kicks him again, harder this time. “Can you not?”
“Oh, come on, man. It was cute.”
You tilt your head, watching Jungkook’s reaction. “And you didn’t like that?”
His eyes finally flick to yours, the slight curve of his mouth betraying him. “I didn’t say I didn’t like it, I just don’t want to talk about it.”
“She waited outside the locker room for him,” Jimin continues.
You hold back a roll of your eyes. You don’t care. You don’t care at all.
“Did she?” Eunji fuels the fire with her excited question.
“She said hi. That’s it,” Jungkook mutters.
Jimin snorts at Jungkook’s reply. “Man, that’s not what I saw.”
“And you,” Jungkook directs at Jimin. “You were eye fucking her friend the entire time, so don’t act all high and mighty when you could barely keep your hands to yourself.”
“Sue me!” Jimin exclaims. “Yeah, I do think her friend’s hot, lock me up for it. I need her ig handle or something. I wanna see her again.”
“You’re both hopeless,” you comment, nails tapping against your glass.
“Hey, if she’s hot, she’s hot.” Jimin shrugs, grinning from ear to ear. “You can’t blame me for appreciating the view.”
Yoongi gives him a pointed look. “I’m pretty sure you’ve been ‘appreciating’ the view from every girl in the restaurant for the last hour.”
Jimin laughs loudly, clearly unbothered. “Guilty as charged.”
“What else is new?” Eunji asks. “Besides Seokjin thinking being unhinged will get him an A in his philosophy class, Jungkook having an over-attached ex, and Jimin being a total playboy? Anything else exciting happened this week?”
“I bought a blind box today,” you announce. “And got upset because I didn’t get the one I wanted.”
“The sonny angel figures?” Jungkook asks casually – way too casually.
His tone is so easy, so natural, that for a split second, you forget, just like he forgot. You almost answer just as effortlessly, almost fall into the usual rhythm of conversation with him. But then it hits you—the sharp, perfectly timed reminder that you’re pissed at him.
So instead, you hesitate, fingers tightening around your glass. “Yeah,” you say, a little clipped “Those.”
“I say you stop spending so much money for dust-collecting shit,” Tae comments, and you don’t even have the chance to defend yourself, because Seokjin calls him out for his own questionable spending habits.
While they bicker, you giggle at their antics, distracted for a moment. You reach to dip your dumpling into the sauce, but just as your fingers hover above the dish, you brush hands with Jungkook, who was doing the same.
You kick his hand with yours, expecting him to pull back, but he doesn’t budge.
“Do you ever stop being annoying?” you ask.
“Not when the person I’m annoying is you.”
“You gonna be like this all night?” Your hand sinks, touching the table. “I thought you were mad and would want to ignore me,” you say, much quieter now, even though everyone else is too caught up arguing whether Taehyung’s fifa pack spendings are justified.
“Weren’t you trying to do the same?”
Well, yeah. You were trying to ignore him – that was the sole reason why you even came – but you somewhere along the way, you veered off that plan, and now here you are.
“I guess you’re just too pretty for me to ignore.”
Jungkook freezes at that. You use the opportunity to nudge his hand aside and dip your food into the sauce.
“Funny, didn’t seem to be a problem when you were texting that dude next to me the other day.”
Your chewing slows. The words hit exactly where he intended, sharp and precise, a reminder of exactly why he’s pissed in the first place.
The conversation around you carries on, oblivious, but between you and Jungkook, the tension is suffocating.
You pull away completely, shifting in your seat so your legs are angled away from him and into Eunji’s direction.
Ignoring him is easier, less of a headache – and less of a heartache – than acknowledging his existence.
~
Later that night, you drown yourself in reality tv, letting the mindless drama fill the living room and keep your thoughts from wandering to the interactions you had with Jungkook tonight, because you really need a break from that boy.
You and Eunji had left the restaurant before the boys, her excuse being that she wanted to study, and yours being that you’d had done enough socialising for the day and it was time to go back home. Yeah, you do realise that you have a self-destructive tendency to isolate when things get difficult.
So, here you are, curled up on the couch, journaling about feelings and situations and –
Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep.
You freeze, pen hovering above the paper as the sound of the front door code being punched in echoes from outside. The lock clicks, and the door swings open.
A familiar head of dark hair peeks inside first, followed by annoyingly familiar second one.
“You’re still up?” Taehyung asks, shrugging off his jacket and toes off his shoes.
“Tae,” you say slowly, looking at Jungkook. “Why is he here?”
“Figured we’d hang for a bit more. Play some fifa together.”
“You figured?” You turn to Tae with a deadpan expression.
Taehyung shrugs. “He looked sad.”
“I didn’t look sad,” Jungkook mutters, finally stepping inside and shutting the door behind him.
“You looked all emo when everyone got up to leave,” Taehyung says.
“Whatever.” Jungkook rolls his eyes and heads towards the kitchen, like this is his house now.
You exhale through your nose, pressing your fingers to your temple. “Do we look like a halfway house for emotionally constipated men?”
Jungkook’s voice calls out from the kitchen. “I can hear you.”
“Good.”
“Please try and act civil while I go change,” Taehyung pleads, already disappearing down the hallway.
Jungkook emerges a second later, settling onto the couch, a glass of water in his hand. His tatted fingers wrap around it, long and steady, as he takes a sip. You watch the way his Adam’s apple bobs, the way his throat moves, how the tiniest droplet of water escapes before his tongue swipes it away – completely unbothered. Casual. Like he isn’t taking up too much space in your head already.
“Headache from all that beer?” you ask, trying – hoping – that you sound unaffected by whatever it is about him that’s making your stomach flip.
He exhales, tipping his head back against the couch, stretching his neck just enough to make it unfair. The angle sharpens his jaw line.
His gaze flickers to you. “Something like that.”
Jungkook looks at you. Really looks at you.
His eyes drag over your bare legs, stretched out in tiny shorts that are basically just suggestions of clothing. They hesitate on the curve of your thighs, the hem barely covering anything, before sliding up to the delicate strap of your camisole, the curve of your shoulder. His fingers tighten around the glass just enough for you to notice.
You meet his gaze, unblinking.
Jungkook’s fingers twitch.
You smirk, stretching deliberately, arching your back slightly as you reposition yourself.
And then – his eyes flick downward, landing on the open journal beside you.
You don’t think anything of it at first – until his brows furrow slightly, head tilting as he squints.
“Wait,” he mutters, leaning forward. “Did I just see my name in there?”
Your stomach drops.
Panic sets in at lightning speed.
You slam the journal shut so fast it’s borderline violent.
“Mind your business.”
Jungkook blinks, then grins, slow and smug. Oh, you hate him.
“There is literally nothing for you to see.”
“Oh, but there was something,” he muses, stretching an arm along the back of the couch like he isn’t about to drive you insane. “You wrote about me?”
You cross your arms. “What if I did?”
“Depends,” he says, just momentarily allowing his gaze to drop to your chest. “What exactly are you writing about me?”
Jungkook’s smirk deepens, eyes flicking between you and the journal.
“You’re acting awfully guilty right now,” he taunts, shifting slightly, his thigh pressing against yours.
“Because you’re being nosey.”
“No, because you’re hiding something.”
You roll your eyes, gripping the journal tighter. “You’re not that interesting.”
He hums, tilting his head. “Then lemme see.”
“Absolutely not.”
It happens so fast you barely have time to react. One second, Jungkook is sitting there, all relaxed and smug. The next, he’s lunging forward, reaching for the journal with one hand, the other bracing against the couch to trap you in place.
“Jungkook—stop!” you shriek, twisting away, holding the journal out of his reach.
But he’s relentless.
He shifts closer, practically caging you in, his body warm and solid against yours. His arm brushes your bare thigh as he reaches again, fingers grazing the cover. You twist further, laughing, but the movement only makes things worse—your back presses into the cushions, and suddenly, he’s right there, hovering over you, weight balanced between his knees and one hand pressed into the couch beside your head.
The laughter dies in your throat.
Because now it’s just you and him, tangled up, breathing the same air. His face is inches from yours, the heat of his body seeping into your skin, the scent of his cologne mixed with something distinctly him. His gaze flickers downward – just for a second – but it’s enough. Enough for you to feel the shift. Enough for the teasing to suddenly feel like something else entirely.
Jungkook swallows.
Your heart is in your throat.
His gaze drops to your lips.
You freeze.
His fingers tighten slightly where they rest near your hip. The journal is still caught between you, forgotten, and for the first time, neither of you moves to break the moment.
Until –
A door creaks open down the hallway.
You both jerk back at the same time.
Jungkook moves first, clearing his throat as he drops back onto the couch, running a hand through his hair like that’ll somehow erase the past ten seconds. You sit up just as Taehyung strolls back in, glancing between the two of you with mild suspicion.
“Did you guys kill each other yet?”
“Nearly,” you retort, fixing your hair.
Tae grabs two controllers and plops onto the couch next to Jungkook. “Why’d you scream?”
“Your idiot of a best friend is obsessed with me and tried to sneak a peek into my journal,” you huff, dramatically clutching said journal to your chest.
“Oh, boy,” Tae clicks his tongue. “She’s serious about this thing, Jk. Wouldn’t advise you to –” he waves a hand vaguely, “–poke the bear.”
Jungkook looks like he is actually considering telling Tae what he saw in your beloved journal. His lips party slightly, brows furrowing, before he shakes the thought off. Good for him. You wouldn’t even know where to begin explaining why Jungkook’s name is written in there.
Taehyung hands one of the controllers to Jungkook.
“Is this my cue to turn off my show?” you ask, lips forming a natural pout of disappointment.
“Sorry, spontaneous boys' night,” Tae says with a shrug.
“Please never say that again.”
Jungkook snorts, finally looking at you.
You raise a brow. Challenge him silently.
He just grins, popping his dimples, rolling his shoulders back like he has the upper hand.
God, you hate him.
You stay in the living room while they game – despite considering retreating to your room multiple times when Jungkook and Tae started yelling at each like an old married couple.
But you quickly realise how fun it is to mess with Jungkook, especially when he gets roasted for his lack of skills by an oblivious Taehyung. Which, judging by the way Jungkook’s jaw keeps ticking and his grip on the controller tightens, is absolutely getting to him.
“Want more snacks?” you ask sweetly as you rise to your feet, collecting the empty bowls. One slips from your grasp, landing on the carpet. You bend over to grab it, in front of Jungkook, and maybe, just maybe, you move slower than necessary. Maybe shifting your hips a little too much. Maybe giving him a view he definitely does not deserve.
Tae, completely unbothered, waves you off like a fly buzzing around his screen. “___, get out of the way,” he complains impatiently, fingers rapidly clicking on his controller. “But I’ll have some more chips, thanks.”
Jungkook, however, isn’t saying shit.
You glance over your shoulder, just in time to catch the flicker of his eyes meeting yours before he collects himself and redirects his attention back to the game.
“You good, Jungkook?” you ask innocently.
His nostrils flare. Through gritted teeth, he mutters, “Just move.”
So you do, slow and smug, your shorts sliding back over your thighs as you pad toward the kitchen.
Right as you’re reaching for the drawer, you hear Taehyung ask, “What are you gonna do about that Sooyoung girl?” Your movements slow. “You interested?”
The nosiness and urge to gossip definitely runs through your genes.
“Nah, I don’t want her back.”
When you glance back, Jungkook’s still focused on the game, but there’s something absent in the way he’s holding the controller – like he’s playing on autopilot.
“That bad, huh?”
“Just wasn’t that deep.”
You busy yourself with the drawer, fingertips grazing over the handle as you bite back the urge to comment. Just listen.
“You never really said why you two broke up.”
“No, I did tell you,” Jungkook says, easy but firm. “You just never believed me.”
“That’s because it always felt like there was more.”
“There wasn’t. We just didn’t fit.”
Didn’t fit how?
You open the drawer and grab more snacks.
“Yeah...I don’t know. You never seemed truly happy with her.”
Jungkook exhales sharply through his nose. "I wasn’t miserable," he finally says.
“You weren’t happy either.”
“I don’t know. Maybe I stayed with Sooyoung because it was easy. No drama. No real emotions involved.”
With the snacks in tow, you walk back to the living room. “That sounds really sad, Jaykay,” you say, not trying to hide that you’ve been listening to them.
He shrugs. “Maybe. But at least it didn’t mess with my head.” His gaze lingers on you. “Didn’t make me feel like I was losing my mind.”
“Fuck, no, if someone makes you feel that way – leave, immediately,” Taehyung says.
You grab a bag of chips, tearing it open as you lean against the side of the couch. “You guys done being dramatic yet?”
Taehyung glances over his shoulder, narrowing his eyes. “You’re still here?”
“I live here.”
“Unfortunately.”
“Unfortunately?” you repat. “You were the one who happily agreed when mum and dad suggested that I move in with you. I wanted my own place!”
“Oh no, the princess didn’t get what she wanted. How dare they?” Jungkook mocks you.
You faintly remember the discussion of moving into an even bigger place, where all three of you would live together, but Jungkook denied that idea back then, saying the dorm that his athletic scholarship is providing him is good enough for him.
You scoff, shoving his shoulder as you pop another chip into your mouth. “Okay, first of all, you don’t get a say in this. Second of all, I’m not a princess.”
Jungkook tilts his head, a smirk playing on his lips. “Sure you aren’t.”
Taehyung snorts, eyes still glued to the screen. “You literally whined for two weeks straight about not having enough closet space.”
“That was a valid complaint,” you argue. “You take up, like, half of it with your stupid jerseys.”
“They’re collectibles.”
“They’re ugly.”
Jungkook laughs, finally leaning back into the couch, looking far too amused. “I see living together is going great for you two.”
“Oh, it’s fantastic,” Taehyung deadpans. “Every day is a blessing.”
“You’re so dramatic,” you mutter, but you can’t help the way your lips twitch. “I liked this conversation more when you gossiped about Jungkook’s life.”
Taehyung rolls his eyes, then jerks his chin toward Jungkook. “Dude, hurry up and lose so we can switch games.”
Jungkook, who has barely been playing at all, huffs. “I’m not gonna lose on purpose.”
“You’re already playing like shit,” Taehyung points out. “What’s up with you? Did Sooyoung get into your head or what?”
“Quit mentioning her,” Jungkook grumbles, jaw tightening.
Sooyoung?
No, that is not who is on is mind.
Why would he be thinking about her when – okay, you need to calm down. It’s not that serious.
You just need to call it a night, crawl into bed, and sleep it off.
“Heading to bed,” you announce, grabbing your journal from the coffee table.
“Alright, sleep tight,” Taehyung replies.
“Night, princess.” You flick the back of Jungkook’s head for that.
~
“Okay, very out of character for me, but we need to stop drinking for a sec and you need to tell me why the hell you keep looking back at Jungkook?” Eunji asks you all of a sudden, voice barely carrying over the muffled bass shaking the walls of the packed frat house.
The kitchen is one of the only semi-breathable spaces in the frat house, though the counters are a war zone of spilled liquor, sticky cups, and questionably abandoned drinks. The air reeks of cheap booze and sweat, but none of that is stopping Eunji from interrogating you.
You blink perplexed. “Out of character for you?” you ask back, eyeing the way she pulls back the cup you were just mixing a drink in. “I think that is very true to your character – very you. I’d be out of character for me to stop us from drinking.” You snatch back your cup.
“Did I say that?” She’s lost in her mind for a moment. “I don’t even remember. Am I that drunk already? I don’t wanna wake up hungover tomorrow.” She laments. “I still got this assignment due, and I wanted to get most of it done tomorrow, but – oh my god. Do not distract me from the question I just asked you.” She stares at you with sharp eyes. “Why do you keep looking back at Jungkook?”
“Am I?”
She huffs. “You don’t get to play this game with me, ___.” She pokes your tummy. “Answer me.”
You fully turn to her, abandoning the cup with the godawful alcohol mix – yes, it’s your creation, no, you’ve never had any talent for mixing drinks.
“I might have to tell you something.”
Her eyes widen. Immediately. Mouth opening in an unbelievable expression of pure, unfiltered drama. One that belongs in a reality show confession booth.
“Shut up. You did not – did you? Oh my god, shut up!”
“We might have hooked up for, like, a good few months.”
Her palm flies to cover her mouth. “Behind Taehyung’s back?” she whisper shouts.
“Well, obviously.” You point to yourself. “You think I’d be alive if he knew? You think he’d be alive if Tae knew?”
“You whore!”
“For Jungkook? Kinda,” you admit defeatedly.
You take a glimpse into his direction. Eunji shoves you on the shoulder for that.
“Don’t make it obvious!” she exclaims. “But you need to tell me everything. Right now.”
You sigh, leaning against the counter.
“The first time we hooked up was before I enrolled in uni. It was the summer before when Tae and Jungkook spontaneously visited and-“
“Okay, I need you to stop,” Eunji interrupts, fingers massaging her temples. “The summer before uni?” she repeats, exasperated. “You’ve been keeping it a secret since summer? I need more booze before you continue.”
“I’m sorry for not telling you, but we didn’t want anyone to know. He’d be pissed if he knew I told you.”
“No, don’t be sorry. I get it, I really do. I just didn’t expect this at all.” After pouring something inside her cup, she takes big gulps from it.
“I mean, what was I supposed to do? He’s hot, he’s pretty, and I’ve had a crush on him since, like, forever. I had to give in when he showed interest. What’s a girl gonna do?”
“How have you been able to keep it from Taehyung? They’re with each other 24/7.”
“He comes over when I know Tae’s gonna be out for a while. Or the other way around,” you reply, shrugging like it’s no big deal. “You can make anything work if you really want to, and I really wanted Jungkook.”
Still do, if you’re being honest.
You pause, then wave it off dramatically. “But that’s ancient history. We’re totally over that weird situationship.”
“What?!” Another shocked gasp escapes her. “Why?!”
“I don’t even know, to be honest. He just – we fucked, and then he...I dunno.” You grab your cup and down the rest of your drink, grimacing at the taste of whatever you concocted. “He got mad at me for texting Eunwoo after we had sex. I didn't even think he’d be all sensitive about it, especially since, you know, he’s with other girls too. But he got so pissed and we argued. And guess what?!” You throw your arms out, face dramatically incredulous. “He just leaves me in bed! Like, straight up walks out, saying stupid shit like I sleep around and only text him when I’m bored. Acting like we’re some exclusive thing, which we’re not! How dare he get so upset?” you argue theatrically, voice rising in pitch. “I’ve got better shit to do than this,” you mimic in Jungkook’s deep voice, eyes rolling for extra effect. “He’s so annoying.”
Eunji scrutinizes you for a brief moment before coming to her conclusion.
“Oh, he wants you bad.”
“Huh?” Your brows furrow. “He left me.”
“Because he wants you two to be exclusive and you don't. Why should he stay?”
Why should he stay?
You stare at Eunji, her words settling over you like an unwanted truth.
“He did ask me to be exclusive before,” you admit, twirling the empty cup in your hands. “But I always thought it would be a bad idea. Because being exclusive is so much more serious, and I want to be anything but serious with him. We don’t work that way. I can’t have that happening and risking Tae finding out. It would ruin everything.”
Eunji gives you a long, unimpressed look. “But being exclusive friends with benefits doesn’t have to mean more. It could just stay that way. Why do you always make things complicated?”
You huff, frustration bubbling up. “I don’t know.” You drop your forehead against her shoulder.
She pats your back like you’re a lost puppy.
“You’re and idiot, babe.”
“I know.”
“You also like him.”
You groan into her shoulder. “Shut up.”
“Just saying,” she singsongs.
It’s only now that you realise just how much you needed this – to talk to someone. To get all these tangled thoughts out of your head instead of letting them fester in silence. You’ve spent so much time convincing yourself that none of it mattered, brushing it off like it was nothing, but saying it out loud makes it real. And weirdly, that feels... good. Cathartic, even. Like exhaling after holding your breath for too long.
“Do you think I should-“ You start to lift your head, but Eunji pushes you back down with a firm hand.
“Everything will be fine, ___,” she babbles, patting your head a little too aggressively. “Just, you know, don’t be too sad.”
“What are you on about?”
“Just stay here for a sec.”
“Eunji.” You force yourself out of her grasp.
She’s looking somewhere past you, eyes flickering toward the living room, but when she realizes you’ve caught on, she quickly averts her gaze. Too quickly. Suspiciously.
You turn around, scanning the area to find what she doesn’t want you to see.
Your tummy churns in an instant when you see it.
Jungkook.
Heading up the stairs.
With Nayeon.
Even in the hazy lighting of the party, he stands out – broad shoulders wrapped in a dark, well-fitted tee, his silver chain glinting against his collarbone. He moves effortlessly, the easy confidence in his stride something you know all too well. His hand rests low on Nayeon’s back, fingertips grazing the thin fabric of her dress as she leans into him, whispering something into his ear.
Your throat tightens.
Eunji shifts beside you, watching your reaction carefully. “Hey, maybe it’s not-“
“I’m gonna throw up.”
The words leave your mouth before you can even think. You grab Eunji’s cup and down the last of her drink, but the alcohol does nothing to wash away the bitter taste in your mouth.
Your eyes scan the room frantically. “Wasn’t Eunwoo somewhere here too?” You rise onto your toes, searching the sea of bodies. “I think I just need to get my mind off things.”
“Oh, no, no, no, no,” Eunji immediately cuts in, grabbing your wrist before you can make any rash decisions. “We are not doing this.”
“Doing what?”
She levels you with a look. “You are not about to make a dumbass decision just to get back at Jungkook. Not on my watch.”
“I really, really hate him right now.”
“I know,” she soothes. “But no petty comebacks for situations where we absolutely do not need to make fools of ourselves, yeah?”
Your brain is screaming at you to make Jungkook feel just as shitty as you do, to do something reckless and distracting, but deep down, you know Eunji’s right.
You steal another glance at the staircase. They’re gone.
The realization sinks in, and suddenly, the air in the frat house feels suffocating. The bass of the music thrums in your chest, the chatter around you blurring into an overwhelming hum.
“I need air,” you mutter, pushing past Eunji before she can stop you.
She sighs but doesn’t follow. She knows you need a moment alone.
You slip through the crowd, weaving your way toward the back door. The night air hits you instantly, cool against your heated skin, but it does little to settle the storm raging in your chest.
Leaning against the railing of the porch, you inhale deeply, forcing your nerves to settle.
This is fine.
~
“Can you promise you won’t puke on me?”
“I mean, I can, but I don’t know if I can keep the promise.”
You spotted Chanyeol with another guy—Jackson, you think—smoking and went over to chat with them. It wasn’t until they finished their joint that curiosity got the best of you. One thing led to another, and Jackson went inside to roll you one. Now, all three of you are standing outside, two pairs of curious eyes fixed on you.
“She’ll be fine,” Jackson says as he exhales a slow stream of smoke, watching it curl into the night air.
Chanyeol eyes you warily as he sparks up your joint. “I don’t know how much you drank tonight, but please tell me if you feel sick.” He holds it out for you.
You hesitate for half a second before taking it between your fingers. It feels weird, unnatural. “So I just…?”
“Inhale, but not too hard. Hold it for a second, then let it out,” Chanyeol instructs.
You follow his guidance, pulling in a slow drag. The taste is harsher than you expected, earthy and a little burnt, making you cough almost instantly.
“Classic first hit,” Jackson says, but it’s not as reassuring as he thinks. “Give it a sec.”
“How do you feel?” Chanyeol asks, watching you closely.
“Feels very icky,” you tell him, nose scrunched up. “But I’m feeling okay.”
“Yo, Jackson!” some dude yells from the back. Jackson disappears, leaving Chanyeol and you alone.
“You sure you’re fine?”
The night air feels heavier now, the music from inside muffled like you’re hearing it through a wall. Your fingers tingle slightly, warmth spreading through your limbs. You shift on your feet, suddenly hyper-aware of the way your body moves.
You blink at him. “I think my brain is moving slower than my body.”
He laughs. “Yeah, that happens. Just ride it out.”
You exhale, watching the smoke swirl in front of you.
“The fuck?”
Your head snaps toward the voice.
Jungkook stands a few feet away, brows furrowed, looking like he just walked into some kind of crime scene. His eyes flick between you and the joint in your fingers, then to Chanyeol, before settling back on you.
For some reason, your eyes wander to his hands. He’s probably touched so many things tonight, so many body parts. Did he wash them?
“The hell you’re doing?” Jungkook asks, walking towards you.
“Uhm, having fun?” you try, watching his frown deepen.
“This is not something you do, ___.” Jungkook directs his glare at Chanyeol. “Why the fuck would you give this to her?”
“Fuck, Jungkook, if you wanna be angry be angry elsewhere,” Chanyeol says, rolling his eyes.
“You fuck off,” Jungkook counters.
“As if you have never smoked.” Chanyeol raises his brows.
“I don’t smoke.”
“Trying to maintain a squeaky-clean image for those scouts who might be watching?”
“Mind your fucking business.”
“Jungkook, you’re being rude.” You turn to him, pointing a finger at his broad chest. “You’ve been going around, having fun yourself but can’t let other people have fun. That’s not nice of you.”
You stare up at him, a sullen pout on your mouth before pulling another slow drag and trying hard to not cough, but a small cough slips out anyway.
“Get that shit away, ___,” Jungkook demands, unimpressed by the smoke surrounding his face.
“Why do you care? Lemme have fun.”
“This shit fucks with your head.”
My brain’s already fucked, you think. Thanks a lot.
“It’s just weed?”
“Taehyung will lose his mind.”
“Is Tae with us now?”
Jungkook arches his brow.
“Oh, you wouldn’t.”
“Stop right now or I’ll call him.”
You hold his gaze, daring him. “You’re bluffing.”
Jungkook pulls his phone out of his pocket without hesitation, thumb hovering over the screen. “Try me.”
You wait, staring at Jungkook’s screen until he actually calls Taehyung.
Before the call can connect, you groan and shove the joint into Chanyeol’s hand. “God, fine, I’m done.”
He hangs up before Taehyung can answer.
You glare at him, but he only tilts his head toward the house. “Let’s get you some water.”
He guides you towards the house with his hand splayed across your side. At first, you shy away from his touch, mind racing with thoughts you’d rather not acknowledge. But as the night air presses cool against your skin, you let yourself relax, leaning into him slightly as you walk up the stairs.
“You’re so mean, you know that?” you huff.
“I’m just looking out for you,” he replies, in a softer tone than before.
“You didn’t have to be mean with Chanyeol. It wasn’t his weed. Chanyeol was actually very kind, made sure I was feeling okay-“
Jungkook stops at the threshold of the house.
“I’m gonna have a little chat with Jackson.”
“How do you know-“
His hand slips from your waist. He turns, leaving you standing on the porch, and disappears in the crowd.
Because that’s just easy for him – leaving you.
Why should he stay?
You don’t care.
You don’t care.
And if you keep telling yourself that, maybe – just maybe – you’ll start to believe it.
~
Flash forward a week, and you can now say –proudly, with your full chest – that you do care.
You’ve never not cared. Pretended? Yes. But gotten over it? Not even close.
Which is why it’s not surprising that you find yourself at yet another party, drink in hand, scanning the room without meaning to. Or maybe you do mean to. Maybe you want to see him. Maybe you want him to see you. Maybe you want him to know that he didn’t get to you. Even though he did.
You’re sunk into the couch, surrounded by your friend group, half-listening as they go on about today’s hockey practice – boy gossip, oh how you love it.
“Coach told him he’s probably getting benched next game,” Jimin says, shaking his head as he leans back against the couch. “Too many penalties last match. Dumbass just keeps throwing hits for no reason.”
“That’s what happens when you let your ego get ahead of you,” Jin chimes in, stretching his legs out. “Coach is tired of his shit. And honestly? Fair.”
“I heard he almost fought Yoongi in the locker room,” Taehyung adds, arching a brow as he takes a sip of his drink. “Over something stupid too, like warm-up drills.”
“Swear to God, that guy needs to chill,” Jimin scoffs. “He’s got all the talent, but he plays like he’s trying to prove something every damn game.”
When Taehyung gets up to grab himself another drink, you catch him by the sleeve.
“Can you get me one too, please?” You hand him your empty cup.
Taehyung eyes the cup. “You’ve been drinking a bit more lately.”
“It’s just my second drink?”
His sharp eyes linger on you for a moment before he reluctantly takes your cup and walks off. He hasn’t missed the shift in your behaviour these past few weeks. You try to hide it, but there’s only so much you can do.
“Could say the same thing about Jungkook, though,” Jin says.
Jin’s words linger in the air, but you don’t dare react.
“Jungkook’s always been like that,” Jimin says, tipping his drink back. “Plays like he’s got something to prove, but I guess he kinda does. He wants to go pro, so it’s not like he can afford to slack off.”
It’s stupid, silly even, how easily his name can unravel you. How even when he’s not here, he’s everywhere.
“Isn’t your dad gonna come to the next game?” Jimin directs at you.
You shrug. “Maybe? I dunno.”
Given that your dad is an NHL executive, former team owner, he tries to find time in his busy schedule to attend the hockey games. The boys probably see him more than you do.
“Where is Jungkook anyway?” Hobi asks. “Is he gonna come over at all?”
Dear god, you hope, pray, he won’t.
You can’t live through seeing him disappear with another girl upstairs. You don’t have Eunji with you today to keep you from doing reckless decisions.
“He’d be all over Nayeon anyway. Doubt he’d even remember we exist,” Jin chuckles, unknowingly ruining the rest of your night.
The sound of their laughter grates against your nerves. The more you sit here, the more unbearable it becomes. The thought of him, of her, of what they could be doing, poisons your mind until you can’t take it anymore.
Taehyung returns, pressing a fresh drink into your hand. He barely gets a word in before his gaze sharpens. “You okay?”
You nod stiffly. “Yeah.”
“Liar.”
His voice is quiet enough that no one else hears, but it makes your stomach flip. He knows you too well. And if you sit here any longer, he’s going to drag the truth out of you, whether you like it or not.
So you stand abruptly, mumbling something about fresh air before slipping through the crowd, out into the cool night. The moment you’re alone, you let out a breath, pressing your fingers to your temples. It doesn’t help. Nothing does.
Before you can talk yourself out of it, you pull out your phone, scroll down to the name you should ignore, and press call.
Jungkook answers on the second ring.
“Did you call me on accident?”
You ignore his question, your fingers tightening around your phone as you shift your weight from one foot to the other. Instead, you ask, “Are you gonna come to the party?”
“No, I have some assignments to do,” he answers, hesitantly. “Why’d you ask?”
“Are you sure?” Your eyes close, waiting for the confirmation that you won’t have to see things (Jungkook and a girl that isn’t you) that you don’t want to see (him hooking up with someone that isn’t you).
“Yeah, positive.” There’s a pause, and then he adds, “Is there something you don’t want me to see? Or—wait, are you just making sure I won’t be around to ruin your night?” Jungkook laughs and you realise how you’ve missed that sound. “It’s your lucky day. You won’t see my face poking around in the crowd. You can have fun.”
You frown at the nonsense he’s saying. He couldn’t be more off.
“No, you don’t get it.”
“What am I not getting?”
You stare into the night sky, the stars blurred by the city lights. You consider hanging up, letting the moment pass, but then you remember what Eunji told you. Talk to him. Get the discomfort out of the way.
“You know I’m not an insecure person.” You cross one arm over your body, rubbing your bare skin against the rising cold. “Like, I’m confident in who I am. I don’t compare myself to others because, y’know, I don’t care enough about stuff like that.”
“Yeah, of course I know that. You’re a confident girl. Have always been.”
“But you know what makes me go crazy?”
“What?”
“Seeing you with someone else.” The words slip out before you can catch them, but now that they’re out in the open, you can’t take them back. You don’t want to. Or – I dunno if it’s just that. I want you to want me. And you don’t. Which I get, I’ve been a bit shitty, so you deserve to want someone that isn’t like me, but – it just makes me go a bit insane, because I thought you did want me again the other night. At my place.” Your voice drops on the last sentence, barely above a whisper. “But then I see you with Nayeon and you just don’t care.”
You take a break, trying to organise your thoughts, but it’s fruitless because it’s just a tangled mess up there.
“Eunji said to talk with you but still give us a bit time, but oh my god I just want it to be okay between us again. I’m feeling so confused, and I don’t even really know what’s going on, but all I know is that I want things to be like before. When you still wanted me, and I wanted you and everything was good, easy,” you say, exhaling a helpless breath. “Do you think that’s possible?”
It’s silent for a beat. You don’t blame him – you couldn’t recite half the stuff that just poured out of your mouth.
“Fuck, ___.” He sounds a bit helpless himself.
Jungkook sighs on the other end, and you hear the faint rustle of fabric, like he’s shifting, maybe running a hand through his hair. “I don’t know what to say to that,” he finally admits.
“Say anything,” you murmur.
“What do you want me to do, ___?” His voice is quieter now, more controlled, but there’s something simmering beneath the surface. “Stop seeing other people? Pretend like none of this ever happened? Or do you just want me to tell you that, yeah, I still want you?”
Your breath hitches. “Do you?”
“I thought I made that obvious,” he mutters. “But every time I think we’re on the same page, you pull away and act difficult. So, forgive me if I stopped trying to figure you out.”
“I don’t mean to act difficult.”
“Then why do you?”
You don’t have an answer. Or maybe you do, but you’re scared to say it.
Jungkook waits, but when you don’t respond, he lets out a dry laugh. “You know what’s funny? I wasn’t even gonna go to the party tonight. But now I kinda want to.”
“Why?”
“Maybe I wanna see what happens when you have to look me in the eyes.” His voice is lower now, rougher. “Because talking like this? It’s too easy for you.”
“No, don’t come.” You think of the worst-case scenario – arguing with Jungkook, him getting frustrated, turning to Nayeon because she’s easier, likes her more than you. And you couldn’t stand seeing that.
“Or maybe do, if you want,” you add, voice quieter. “I think I’m gonna leave anyway. Wanna go home.” Avoiding situations – your strong suit.
“How much have you had to drink?”
You stare at the untouched drink in your hand before lifting it to your lips. The sweetness hits first, masking the barely-there burn of alcohol (thanks, Tae). “Starting my third drink now.”
“I can walk you home,” he offers.
“It’s not a long walk to my place. You don’t have to.”
“I want to.” A rustle of movement on the other end before he adds, “On my way right now.”
“I’ll wait at the front for you.”
You weave your way back inside the house to find Taehyung, who’s still in the living room chatting with one of his teammates.
“Gonna go home, Tae,” you say, your voice cutting through their conversation. He glances up, distracted for a moment, before raising an eyebrow. “Also, here–” You hand him the drink he made for you. “This is not fun to drink at all.”
Taehyung rolls his eyes at your sassy comment but takes the cup from your hand. “Learn how to enjoy a party without getting drunk.”
“You tell me to get out of my room more, and when I do, this is what you say? Pick a side,” you grumble.
“Why do you wanna go home?” His fingers adjust the top of your strapless dress absentmindedly as he asks. “You okay?”
“Eh, just a bit bored.”
“We’re gonna play truth or dare in a bit,” Taehyung’s friend pipes up, raising his eyebrows in an exaggerated manner. “Maybe you should stick around.”
“I think I’ll skip,” you say. “But please do me a favour and fill me in on all the drama I’ll be missing out on.”
He winks at you. “Will do.”
“I’ll walk you home,” Taehyung says, stepping towards you.
You know he won’t allow you to go home by yourself, so you opt for telling him the truth. “Jungkook’s coming to take me home.”
“Jungkook?” he asks, surprised. “Did you call him?”
“Yeah, I asked him. Didn’t wanna annoy you. Go have fun doing...” You glance over at Jimin and Hobi, who are holding an impromptu drinking competition. Hobi’s attempting to chug straight from a bottle of something clearly too strong for him, while Jimin’s pretending to be the host of a weird, offbeat game show. “...whatever that is,” you finish, trying to hold back a laugh.
“You really can’t leave those two alone for a second, can you?” Taehyung lets out a low chuckle, shaking his head. “Tell Jungkook to swing by here once he drops you off.”
“He didn’t sound like he was in the mood to stop by, but I'll tell him.”
“Text me when you get home, yeah?” he says over his shoulder, already walking back toward Jimin and a very much unconscious Hobi, who’s sprawled out on the couch looking like he’s had one too many rounds.

Jungkook finds you almost immediately. You barely have time to register his presence before he’s already slipping his zip hoodie over your shoulders, his hands smoothing over the fabric like he’s tucking you in for the night.
“You should’ve waited inside,” he mutters, fingers lingering at the collar like he’s seriously considering zipping it up for you too.
You swat his hands away, glancing around quickly. “Jungkook, don’t – everyone’s watching.”
He raises an eyebrow. “Who’s watching?”
You look over your shoulder. “I dunno. People.”
Jungkook huffs a laugh, stepping closer. “Right. Because me making sure you don’t freeze to death is so scandalous,” he jokes. “But smoking weed the other day was okay to do outside? With all the people there?”
“As a friend you’re supposed to forget my mess-ups, not remind me of them.” You huff, faintly remembering when you tried weed for the first time. You did puke that night. Luckily not on Chanyeol. “You didn’t have to come,” you grumble, even as you tug the hoodie tighter around yourself, his warmth and the faint scent of his detergent wrapping around you like a second skin.
“I know,” he says, tilting his head. “But I wanted to.”
And then, because he’s annoying, he reaches up and tugs the hood over your head, effectively swallowing half your face in fabric.
You let out a muffled noise of protest, pushing it back down immediately. “Stop that.”
Jungkook just grins, stuffing his hands into his pockets as he starts walking. “You look cute like that, though.”
You glare at him but fall into step beside him anyway, the hoodie still draped around you like it belongs there. The night air nips at your skin, but his warmth lingers, and you swear he notices the way you pull the sleeves over your hands like it’s yours.
“So…” His voice is quieter now. “What you said on the phone earlier.”
Your stomach twists. “What about it?”
“I just—” He starts, then pauses. “I don’t know what you want from me, ___. One second, you’re pushing me away, and the next, you’re telling me you can’t stand seeing me with someone else. You –” He falters, his voice catching slightly. “Do you even know what you want?”
“I know that you ruined me for other boys, for one,” you say, sighing deeply before you continue. “I want things to be like before,” you reply. “When everything wasn’t so…” You gesture vaguely. “Complicated. I don’t like this. And I don’t like how I feel when I see you with –” You cut yourself off before the name can leave your lips. He knows anyway.
Jungkook watches you carefully, hands still stuffed into his pockets, shoulders slightly hunched. “I wasn’t trying to rub anything in your face,” he says after a pause. “I didn’t think it’d… affect you.”
“Well, it did,” you say, a little too fast, a little too defensive. “And I hate that it did, because it’s not like I have a right to be mad about it.”
Jungkook tilts his head. “Don’t you?”
That stops you in your tracks.
Because – do you? You don’t know what this is, don’t know what you want from him except for more. More of his attention, more of his time, more of him. But not all of him, right? Because that would mean–
“God,” you mumble, rubbing your hands down your face. “Why are you making me say things?”
Jungkook chuckles, nudging your side. “You called me, remember?”
You groan. “Worst decision I’ve ever made.”
“Harsh.”
“Accurate.”
Jungkook lets out a short laugh, but then he’s quiet for a beat before he says, “Look, I don’t wanna play games. If you want me, then say it.”
You swallow. “I do.”
“But we don’t want each other like that,” he adds.
“Yeah, no.” You chew on your lip, pulling his hoodie tighter around yourself. “I just… don’t want to see you with other people. And I don’t want to pretend that it doesn’t bother me.”
“I don’t wanna see you with anyone else either.” Jungkook exhales, running a hand through his hair. “You want to keep fucking but be exclusive.”
You wince. “Could you not say it like that?”
“What, say it like the truth?”
You purse your lips, staring at him. “Is it a no?”
Jungkook doesn’t say anything for a second. Then, he sighs. “It’s not a no. I’ve been asking you for this, and you always pushed me away.”
“You know am not good with serious conversations. I like it when things are easy.” You cross your arms, trying to shield yourself, but your eyes can’t help but flicker towards him. “I don’t mean to push you away,” you admit. “I just– I get scared.”
His lips part slightly, like he wasn’t expecting that. And then – without a word – he reaches out, pulling the hoodie up so the zipper meets your chin, like he’s tucking you in.
Your heart trips over itself. “What are you doing?”
He grins, hands still lingering near your collar. “Making sure you don’t run away before you finish talking.”
“I wouldn’t run,” you protest.
Jungkook raises a brow.
“…Okay, maybe I would,” you mutter.
His grin softens into something fonder. “Well, you didn’t,” he says simply. “You’re talking to me now.” His thumb brushes over the fabric near your shoulder. “And I know that’s not easy for you.”
Your face grows hot. You roll your eyes, looking away. “Okay, don’t be nice about it.”
Jungkook laughs, bumping your forehead lightly with his. “Sorry, can’t help it. I’m proud of you.”
Your stomach flips. You shove at his chest. “Ugh. Shut up.”
He just laughs harder, catching your wrist before you can push him again. “Too late.”
You elbow him, but he catches your arm, smirking as he tugs you closer. “So that’s it?” His voice drops slightly. “You’re mine, and I’m yours, but we don’t call it anything?”
The words send a shiver down your spine. Mine.
“…Yeah,” you say. “Something like that.”
Jungkook hums, his grip on your wrist loosening but not quite letting go. His fingers brush against yours for a second before he shoves his hands back into his pockets.
“Just stay with me.” You glance at him. “Don’t leave.”
“I’ll stay. Don’t worry.”
You continue walking, the quiet hum of the streetlights and distant city noise filling the silence.
“Taehyung said he wants you to stop by at the party once you drop me off,” you tell Jungkook, letting the information hang in the air before you ask, “But hang out with me instead?”
“You know, I was doing very important things before you called.”
“You never do uni stuff and this is the day you’re deciding to do a personality rebrand?”
“What do you mean? I’m on top of my grades...Kinda.”
You huff at his response. “Then, I dunno. Wanna be nerdy together? I can help you with your assignment.”
You’re pretty sure your marketing major and fashion design minor won’t do much to help him with stats, but you’re definitely down to stick around just to be close to him.
“I don’t think you can, but being nerdy together sounds extremely intriguing, so come on.” He holds his hand out for you and drags you the other way around to his dorm.
It’s not far, just a few blocks over, but the way his fingers loosely wrap around yours makes the walk feel shorter.
~
Here’s how the rest of the night goes: Jungkook, the ever exemplary student, continues working on his assignment, while you – an accomplished liar who successfully deceived Jungkook into believing you would help him – pretend to help for all of five minutes before succumbing to the far more important task of online shopping for cute clothes.
It’s being nerdy together (your version).
Every so often, he glances at you, probably wondering if you’ll suddenly become useful. You do not. Instead, you kick your feet up on his bed, adding yet another item to your cart that you definitely don’t need.
Your thumb hovers over the screen, eyes locked on the top that has no business being so cute. A strapless, velvety pink crop top. The entire front is held together by a line of sparkling, rhinestone heart clasps, leaving slivers of skin exposed.
“Do you think this is cute?” You turn your phone toward Jungkook.
“Very pretty.” Jungkook nods in approval, until his eyes flick down to the price. “What the fuck, ___.”
“What?” Add to cart. “It’s cute, no?”
“You’re a terrible study partner,” he mutters, typing on his laptop.
“I never claimed to be one,” you say, scrolling past a top that you absolutely do need. “Isn't being in my presence motivating enough?”
Jungkook snorts. “Right. I’m so motivated by your commitment to retail therapy.”
“Good,” you say, adding another item to your cart. “Then I’m doing my job.”
You watch him work on his assignment, your gaze drifting to his hands resting on the keyboard. His fingers are long and lean, the veins running along his wrists just noticeable under his skin. It's like every little movement is getting your attention, and suddenly, all you can think about is how good those hands would feel on you.
“What about this,” you say, a ghost of a smirk dancing at the corner of your lips. “When you finish your task, we can look through some lingerie. You can help me pick out a few things.”
The back of Jungkook’s head hits the wall. His eyes wander to the mirror on the opposite side of the room. You catch him staring – specifically at your propped-up legs, his gaze lingering a little too close to where your dress has ridden up, just enough to reveal a peek of lace.
“Hey, no peeking,” you scold, snapping your legs shut and stretching them out flat on his bed again, smoothing your dress down for good measure. “That’s also for later, when you finish your assignment.”
Smirking, you shift on the bed, just to test him.
“Must be so hard,” you muse, pretending to stretch as your dress slides just a little higher on your thighs. “Having a mirror right there, nowhere else to look.”
He scoffs. “If I wanted to see, I wouldn’t need a mirror.”
Jungkook doesn’t break eye contact, like he’s daring you to react. And maybe you should. Maybe you should roll your eyes, call him cocky, say you wish – but your brain isn’t working fast enough to form words.
“Remember how I fucked you against it?”
In his jersey. How could you forget?
And the way Jungkook’s lips twitch, like he knows exactly what he’s doing to you, makes your face heat up instantly.
“When has it become so easy to make you shy?”
“I’m not.” You glare at him, but it only seems to amuse him more. His lips quirk higher, that same infuriating twitch like he’s enjoying this way too much.
You sit up straighter, leaning forward just enough so your dress pulls a little higher on your thighs, the movement slow and deliberate.
Jungkook’s eyes move to your legs, and you see that flicker of desire flash across his face. His fingers twitch, like he wants to do something – anything – but he stays still.
“Wanna have a little taste to get some motivation to finish your work?” you tease, the giddy rush that heated your body fading as you flash him a mischievous smile.
“Anything to distract me from this shit,” he replies, already pushing the laptop off his lap, the screen still filled with charts and statistics problems. Ugh.
You shift to your knees and grab the back of his neck, crashing your mouth against his. He deepens the kiss a little, his lips soft against yours, the taste of him sweet and familiar. His breath mingles with yours, warm and steady. His hand lands on your waist, fingers lightly tracing the curve of your body.
You pull back just a little, eyes fluttering open to meet his, and for a second, you both just smile at each other, breathless and giddy.
“Should’ve been doing this instead of staring at those charts,” he murmurs, his thumb brushing your cheek as he gently tucks a strand of hair behind your ear.
You laugh softly, heart fluttering, before kissing him again – this time with more confidence, more warmth. His arms wrap around you, pulling you closer as if he can’t get enough. His touch is gentle, but you can feel the quiet desperation behind it.
His rosy lips are swollen after a few more minutes of kissing and touching and grinding.
You slide off the bed and drop down to the floor, your hands running over his thighs, silently urging him to move closer. He shifts toward you, letting out a sharp breath when your palm him through his grey sweatpants.
You want to start of slow, want to take your time, but you’re also so needy and greedy for him, that you can’t help but tug his sweatpants down his legs, along with his briefs.
You take his semi hard dick in your hands and begin to stroke him. You let a drop of spit fall onto his cock for lubrication.
Jungkook puffs out a deep breath. You want to hear more of that.
“What happened to a little taste?” he asks, barely able to contain the moans that leave his mouth.
“Can’t help it,” you shrug, watching him grow bigger and harder in your hand.
His hand reaches for the hoodie he gave you earlier, which was carelessly thrown on his bed. He places it gently on the floor in front of you.
“Sit here,” he says, smoothing out the fabric. “Don’t want your knees to hurt.”
You shuffle your knees onto his hoodie, adjusting yourself, and continue stroking him up and down. At some point, you use both of your hands. You missed feeling his heavy cock in your hands, sitting beneath him and just playing with him.
“Spit on it, baby,” he says, voice low as he grabs his cock by the base and holds it for you to spit on. “Good girl.” He watches you with hooded eyes rub your spit all over him, mixing it with the precum leaking from his tip.
His cock is shiny, glistening with veins adoring his length. You stick out your tongue, gently swiping it over his head. Jungkook hisses when you swirl your tongue around his tip, teasing him with slow moves. He strokes himself while you play with his tip.
“Missed this view.” He pulls away his cock and starts slapping it against your tongue, the heavy feeling and wet noises immediately making you press your thighs together. “Look so pretty on your knees. Such a pretty girl.” Jungkook slides his head into your mouth. “Suck, baby.”
You close your mouth around his cock while you lock eyes with him. Slowly taking him deeper until you can’t take more. Your eyes are already watery and you didn’t even get most of him inside your mouth. You bob your head up and down in a slow, leisure pace.
“Fuck, that’s it,” he praises, threading his fingers through your hair to push it away from your face. “Relax your throat for me, yeah?”
When you do, he presses his hand on the back of your head, pushing your down on his cock and forcing you to swallow nearly half of him. Jungkook lets out a pretty moan when he feels the tightness of your throat around his cock, closing his eyes for a moment. Tears sting your eyes when he pulls you back, your hands gripping his thighs for leverage.
He lets you catch your breath before pushing you down again, moving your head in a tempo to his liking. When he shoves his cock particularly deep into you, you gag, tears rolling down your cheeks. You’re an absolute mess when he pulls out.
“What a good girl you are,” Jungkook says, his voice hoarse and low. “You just love sucking cock, don’t you?” He rubs his sticky cock against your mouth before slapping his head against it. He moves to your right cheek, smearing the mess over your skin and lightly tapping his cock. “Hm, princess?” he asks softer, almost with fake sympathy. He raises his brows in question, looking down at you like there’s just you and no one else.
“Love it so much,” you agree, moving your head along to the mess he’s making on your face.
Putting his cock back into your mouth, Jungkook leans back, watching you with pleasure etched into his expression as you move your head swiftly, twisting your hand around the part you can’t reach.
“So good,” he mutters, his tatted hand against your cheek just to feel you.
You tug your dress down and bring his cock down to your tits. You spit between the valley of your tits, using his tip to catch it and spread it across your boobs. You moan when his head brushes over your perky nipples. You circle his cock around them in small movements, breathy puffs escaping your mouth with how sensitive you are.
“You’re so fucking hot.” Jungkook fondles one breast with his hand, kneading it with his long fingers. He lets a little drop of spit fall onto your chest too, hungrily watching as you rub it against your soft skin with his cock. “Just want a mess everywhere, right?”
You nod, dragging his cock back into your mouth because you just need to taste him.
Jungkook curses under his breath when you start playing with his balls with your other hand. “Fuck, baby. Gonna cum if you keep going.”
Music to your ears.
You continue, swirling your tongue around his cock as you move up and down, trying to go as deep as you can. You can tell he doesn’t want to cum yet, but he doesn’t drag you off his cock, he’s too needy and horny.
“Cum on my tits.” You shift, jerking his cock in front of your chest.
“You want me to?”
“Please,” you beg, pushing your tits together with your arm, looking up at him with big eyes.
He moans at that sight, spurts of cum shooting across your chest. He paints your tits white with a big load. Your mouth hangs open slightly at the cum dripping from his cock. You lick his cock clean before looking down at your tits.
“You came so much.” You hold your tits in your hands. You flick your finger through some of the cum, putting it in your cum afterwards.
“Fuck, ___, please.”
You giggle at his reaction. You rub the cum into your skin with his still hard cock before it can drip down and create and even bigger mess. Your tits are all shiny from his cum when you’re done.
A shaky breath bubbles from Jungkook’s mouth when you stroke him once more, for good measure. “Pretty sure you got every drop.” He taps your elbow, motioning for you to get up. “Come here.” He pats the bed. “Get on all fours for me.”
While you get comfy on your knees on his bed, he takes off his clothes. Jungkook pushes your dress up your ass, the fabric bunched around your waist.
Jungkook slides one finger between your legs, slowly tracing your pussy through your panties.
“My dick in your mouth got you so wet, huh?” He pushes your panties aside, uttering a soft groan at the sight of your slick pussy. “So needy for me.” He bends down and you can feel his breath on your folds.
“Jungkook, please,” you whine.
“Please?” he repeats. “Such a well-mannered girl.” His tongue darts out, licking a stripe across your pussy.
You’re so incredibly sensitive, been yearning for this for so long, that you back arches immediately, thighs starting to quiver at Jungkook’s mild torture with his tongue.
Jungkook moves to your clit. He switches from little flicks to your nub and sucking on it, creating wet and filthy noises. He’s skilled with his mouth – perhaps a bit too skilled for your liking. But right now, you don’t have the energy to think too deeply about it, you’re just focused on the tingling pleasure that shoots through your tummy.
“Right there, Kook. Don’t stop.”
You watch him through the mirror – the way he is keeping your cheeks apart with his hands, face buried between your thighs, fluffy hair bouncing along with his movements. So handsome, so pretty, so yours.
“Pussy tastes so fucking good,” He mumbles, his fingers sinking deeper into your skin.
“So close. Wanna cum, Jungkook.”
Jungkook hums against you, the vibration making your breath hitch. It’s just his mouth on your pussy, but he knows his way around, knows how to make you squirm.
The pressure builds, winding tight in your core, seconds from snapping. “Jungkook,” you gasp, voice wrecked. “I’m–”
He groans into you, gripping harder, and that’s it—that’s all it takes. The tension in your body breaks all at once, pleasure hitting so hard your vision goes hazy. A choked sound spills from your lips, legs trying to squeeze shut, but he doesn’t let you. Just stays there, working you through it, dragging it out until you’re nothing but shivers and gasps, completely undone beneath him.
Only then does he pull back, breathing heavy, lips slick and swollen. He looks up at you through the mirror, something dark, almost possessive in his gaze, and swipes his thumb over his mouth like he’s savouring the taste.
You look back at him, smiling at his shiny face. His lips are covered along with his chin and his nose and a bit of his cheeks.
“This is, like, one of your best looks.”
“What, fresh out the pussy?”
You giggle. “Yeah,” you mutter, swiping your finger over the tip of his nose to clean him.
“I could have my face buried down there forever. I don’t think you realise how good you taste.” You feel his finger spreading your folds. “But I know my girl is very needy, so she wants cock, hm?”
You sigh, melting into his touch when you feel him slap his dick against your pussy instead. “You know me so well.”
The dick slaps are so wet, and your haze-filled mind craves nothing more than for him to shove his cock inside you, raw and deep, filling you the way you need – no barriers, no hesitation.
But Jungkook is actually able to still form sensible thoughts through the horny haze and grabs a condom from his nightstand.
He doesn’t tease you much before he enters you, just slowly, inch by inch, sliding his cock inside you.
“You good, baby?”
“Uh-huh, you can move.”
You gasp, the feeling almost overwhelming but exactly what you wanted. His hands grip your hips, pulling you back toward him as he starts a steady pace from behind, each thrust making your head spin.
“Missed this pussy,” Jungkook rasps, sneaking one hand down to your ass to spank it, eliciting a surprised moan from you. “So tight, so perfect.” He grabs a handful of your ass. “So mine.”
He fucks you rough, doesn’t give you any chance to think of anything but him. Your hands are clutching at his covers, holding the fabric tightly in your palms.
You feel him spit down on your ass. He rubs his finger over your puckered hole, making you whine and bite your lip at the feeling.
“Oh, Jungkook.” He slides his thumb inside, just the tip of his finger, and yet it feels like so much more, the pleasure intensifying.
“You’re such a slut for me, aren’t you?” he asks, not stopping his relentless pace. “Love getting all your holes filled. So, so dirty.” Contempt is dripping from his voice, and you can’t help but have your pussy throbbing at that.
“Just for you,” you breathe. “Just you, Jungkook.”
“That’s, right.” He pushes his thumb a bit deeper, making your fingers tighten around Jungkook’s sheets. “You’re my girl.”
Your heart is racing, pulse pounding in your ears, and all you can do is nod, your body responding to him without thought, your need for him overwhelming.
With his other hand he tugs at your hair, wrapping it around his hand and creating a makeshift ponytail.
“Look at how pretty you look.”
You turn your head to the mirror. Your back is fully arched, and Jungkook’s all over your, his muscled and tatted body towering over you with his cock deeply buried inside your pussy.
He withdraws his thumb from your hole, delivering another spank to your ass.
“Make me go fucking crazy,” he mumbles, wrapping his hand around your tummy and pulling you up against his chest.
“Kook,” you mumble, resting your head in the crook of his neck. You don’t know what you want, only that you’re feeling this irresistible pull to him, like you want to be even closer to him.
He lets your hair go, moving his hand to your tits and squeezing them.
“Cum with me,” he whispers into your ear, immediately sending shivers down your spine. “Look at yourself when you cum, baby. Want you to see how pretty you are.”
When he sneaks his hand that was wrapped around your tummy down between your legs and starts flicking his fingers over your clit, it’s officially over for you.
You still try to keep your eyes open like Jungkook told you so as you teeter off the edge, your climax consuming you. You watch him come undone too, his brows knitted together, and bottom lip caught between his teeth.
You’re weak on your knees, but Jungkook keeps you firm to his chest, not letting fall as he thrusts into you in a slower, sloppier pace. He peppers your neck and shoulders with little kisses, and you giggle a little, delirious on your high. Your hand reaches for his bicep and you squeeze it.
His skin is hot under your touch, muscles flexing as he holds you up, keeping you steady against him. The slow drag of his movements sends waves of overstimulation through your body, but you don’t pull away.
“I know, baby.” Jungkook hums against your shoulder, his lips still ghosting over your skin, pressing lazy kisses between heavy breaths. “Still with me?” he murmurs, voice low, teasing, as his fingers brush down your sides.
You nod, melting further into him, body pliant against his.
Jungkook pulls out. You whine at the loss. He tosses the condom on the floor – you're too spent to tell him how gross that is – and shifts on the bed, lying down together with you.
His arm drapes over your waist, pulling you close, your body naturally moulding into his like it’s second nature. His skin is still warm, his breaths deep and steady as he settles beside you.
You glance down on yourself – you’re a mess. Panties still on, just pulled to the side like he liked, dress bunched around your waist, evidence of him all over you.
“Can I take a shower before I leave?”
“Sure.”
You wait.
You look up at Jungkook. “You’re not gonna ask if you can join me?”
“I thought that was clear?”
You smile. “Good.”
“Hey – will you now tell me what you wrote in your journal about me?”
“I know we’re back to being friends with benefits, but please know your place.”
“It was worth a try.”

✰ 𝐛𝐟!𝐫𝐚𝐟𝐞 𝐱 𝐩𝐨𝐠𝐮𝐞!𝐠𝐟 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐧𝐬
— rich boyfriend rafe and his whole heartedly pogue girlfriend
rating: sfw — cw: none
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
— boyfriend!rafe who… actually gets annoyed when you spend your money instead of his: “look, baby, i know you can but why when i’m literally throwing my card at you?” he questioned. “i’m not taking it, rafe,” you rebutted. “yeah? okay, don’t,” he mumbled, casually dropping a banded stack of cash onto your lap.
— boyfriend!rafe who… absolutely judged a book by it’s cover when you first met, knowing you were from a side of town he didn’t favor, but your beauty was something he couldn’t ignore. though, his outlook barely shifted; technically, not all pogues were trash, but he considered you to be the one and only exception.
— boyfriend!rafe who… is used to getting what he wants, so he was highly taken aback when you declined his first offer to go out. it was new and completely foreign, but it only made him want you even more — he’s always had a desire to obtain the ‘unobtainable’
— boyfriend!rafe who… caught so much shit from topper and kelce when they found out about his relationship with a pogue; so much so that rafe almost fought them over it, telling them to ‘get the fuck over it’ and to never speak on you again.
— boyfriend!rafe who… on occasion would reluctantly let your pogue friends go out on his yacht with the two of you for the day, which ultimately would end with him dropping them off an hour (or four) early. he wants them miles away from his pristine boat but loves how happy you look when you were all together.
— boyfriend!rafe who… hears you mention liking something once and makes sure it’s in your hands before the following day ends. they were always simple things like a cute t-shirt or sunglasses, which, to him, were so cheap and mundane that he found it rather adorable when you’d cherish them like literal gold.
— boyfriend!rafe who… isn’t too fond of where you live — your house being small, somewhat falling apart, and overall something far below rafe’s standards. he wishes you’d take him up on his offer to simply get you an apartment on his side of town: “okay, but it’d be so much better for you… and you’d be closer to me,” he mumbled, a small smile pulling at the corners of his pink lips.
— boyfriend!rafe who… takes you riding on his dirt bike to go sightseeing across figure eight, often taking the long way home just to feel your arms wrapped around his waist for just a little longer. you once asked if you could drive it, which would have been your first time, to which he immediately said, “fuck no, what — you tryin’ to break your neck? no.”
— boyfriend!rafe who… tried his first ever boxed mac and cheese with you, as random as it was, after you insisted it’s the greatest inexpensive food on earth; him beforehand saying, “what? y/n, that’s fucking powder…” but after he tried a bite of yours, he reluctantly said, “it’s not that bad… i might see the appeal.”
— boyfriend!rafe who… gives you ‘ultimatums’ when buying you clothes (although, you always insist you don’t need them), saying he’ll get you whatever you want as long as you try on some of his picks first. he would have gotten whatever you wanted regardless, he just liked seeing you model for him, which, secretly, you knew.
— boyfriend!rafe who… buys you extremely expensive jewelry and lies about the price, saying it’s a hundred times cheaper than it is to avoid you trying to give it back. he enjoys watching the dainty bracelet on your wrist or gold studs in your ears glint in the sunlight, knowing that you’re clueless on that fact that they’re the nicest money could buy — he needs only the best for his girl.
— boyfriend!rafe who… truly hated physical touch until you showed him it could be gentle — that it could be sweet, and warm, and kind, and didn’t have to leave him bloody or sore. he loves when you run your nails gingerly across his scalp or hold his hand in your lap, twisting absentmindedly at the rings adorning his long fingers; a type of touch (and love) he’d never felt before
— boyfriend!rafe who… craves your validation, no matter how big or small. he just needs to hear that he did something right, something good, something you’re proud of. he wants to hear you tell him he did a great job at making you dinner or picking out a dress for your spontaneous outings — your approval means so much more to him than you’d ever know.
— boyfriend!rafe who… uses his high status to (begrudgingly) help your pogue friends get out of whatever trouble they land themselves into, knowing it means alot to you and takes a weight off your shoulders: “m’doing this for you, alright? not them, you.”
— boyfriend!rafe who… is pretty heavy on pda. he doesn’t care whose watching when he lazily drapes a possessive arm around your shoulders, or when he kisses you messily with full force; whether it be a kook or pogue witnessing his shameless affections, he didn’t care — who’d dare to say something about it?

rafe helping maybank!reader after an encounter with luke…
your sobbing into your brother’s shirt, burying your bloody face into him while his bruised arms hold you. he should’ve been there. should’ve come faster. should’ve helped you.
luke’s gone now, leaving behind the stench of alcohol and disappointment, jj scared him off. now, it was you two, and he needed help. he couldn’t do this alone, and as much as he hated it : he needed rafe.
his fingers dialled rafe’s number over the phone. it hung up. he tossed the phone onto the floor, grappling around for yours, the one rafe got you for your birthday, equipped with all that fancy face id stuff too. but that wouldn’t work while you were in this state. so he tapped in the passcode - rafe wouldn’t hang up on you.
and thankfully, he was right.
rafe picked up on the first ring. “hey baby?” his voice spoke through the phone, and jj held you tighter, holding the phone up to his ear.
“not her rafe, you need to come over,” he says, trying to keep his voice as steady as he can, ignoring every ache in his body.
“jj– why the fuck d’you have her phone?”
“not now asshole, get over here, she’s beaten, badly, if you care about her i– she needs your help,” he sighs, unsure if he’s annoyed or relieved that for once in his life, jj isn’t the person you need, or can solely rely on.
rafe hangs up after a firm, “coming.” the car that pulls up, looks incredibly out of place on the cut, but jj doesn’t question it. he knows it’s rafe.
getting up, he supports you against the couch, heading to the door and opening it for rafe who doesn’t even spare him a glance, pushing past to you. jj says nothing, looks back at you sorrowfully, knows rafe has got it handled and mutters, “i’ve gotta take care of somethin’, you okay with her?”
“always,” rafe nods, listening to the click of jj shutting the door.
then he’s knelt in front of you, pulling your hands away from your face to see the bruises blooming across your cheek, the blood running from the corner of your mouth and your red eyes. “holy..baby d’you need to get to a hospital?” he asks concerned, cupping your cheeks gently, trying not to press down on your injuries.
only managing a shake of your head, unable to speak through the sobs bubbling at your throat, rafe pulls you in, arms wrapping around your huddled form and tucking you under his chest. rafe softly rocks you, pressing kisses into your hair until you’ve settled and the sobs you unleashed have been subsided.
it’s safe, in his arms. a type of safety you’ve never felt unless with the pogues, but this is far more intimate. you could fall asleep here, live in the comfort of him, his gentle words and reassurances.
before you know it, he’s carefully lifting you into his arms, carrying you to the car and settling you in. he drives slow, careful even though he wants to speed and get to tannyhill as fast as he can. when he does get there, he makes a beeline for his bedroom, helping you to wash off after you feel better. his arms support you, fingers lingering over each and every bruise, across your stomach and arms, the blood running down you.
he helps you change into his hoodie and sweatpants, tucking you into his bed even if it’s broad daylight. you’re not going to move from there if he can say anything about it. having refrained from pushing you to speak this whole time, he now sat next to you, stroking back your hair and murmuring, “baby..you okay to talk?”
sniffling, you nod, “yeah.”
“how d’you feel? does it still hurt?”
“mhm,” you hum.
rafe’s brows pinch together, being able to do nothing other than you bring you into his arms again, delicately kissing the bruise across your cheek.
“don’t go back there again.”
he says it so simply. whispered into your hair, like an order over a suggestion. don’t go back, as if it was that easy.
“stay with me,” he murmurs, down heartened when you shake your head against him.
“i can’t.”
“why not?” he pulls back an inch to see your face properly, the tears already beginning to pool at your eyes which he quickly brushes away.
“i couldn’t leave jj an–“
“jj’s got john b. he stays there most the time, you said it yourself once. just stay with me, you’re safer here.”
you sink your teeth into your lip, holding back tears and trembles. “i’ll talk to jj first,” you whisper, and rafe nods, before pressing a kiss to your head and muttering something about leaving to get medicine and food.
when he was gone, you stared at the ceiling of his room, buried in his blankets and as much as you don’t want to leave jj, you don’t want to leave this bed either.

You hated running. No, correction, loathed it. Detested it. Despised it with every fiber of your being. If there was a stronger word, one that captured the burning, irrational rage you felt whenever someone suggested going for a jog, Spencer might have known it, but you couldn't bring yourself to care enough to ask. Simply put, running was not your thing.
But when Aaron, your boyfriend and somehow the most persistent man alive, asked you to join you on a run, you couldn't exactly say no. He didn't beg, Aaron Hotchner did not beg, but his version of asking, that soft it'd mean a lot to me paired with an encouraging smile, was close enough to begging in your book. Besides, you figured there'd be some sort of reward when you got back home. Aaron was good at those.
So here you were, contributing absolutely nothing to your marathon-obsessed, fitness-loving FBI boyfriend's training. Sweat coated every inch of your body, your legs felt like lead, and your lungs burned with every ragged breath you managed to suck in. The sun blazed overhead, making you feel more like a roasting chicken than a willing participant in this so-called fun activity.
Aaron, on the other hand, looked like he'd stepped out of a fitness ad, shirt clinging to him in ways that felt outright scandalous. Even the sweat on his face somehow made him look even more attractive.
He was at least ten paces ahead of you and every few steps, he'd glance over his shoulder, probably checking to make sure you hadn't spontaneously combusted or snuck off to find an air-conditioned cafe. Honestly, both were real possibilities.
Aaron's pace slowed until he was running beside you, throwing you a smile so unfairly handsome it made your legs feel weaker than they already did.
"How are you feeling?" The question felt retorical, anyone, profiler or not, was sure to be able to read you like an open book right now. "Still alive, or do I need to start figuring out the best way to carry you home without breaking any traffic laws?"
"I think I'm alive," you managed between gasps, wiping sweat from your brow. "But if carrying me is on the table, I'm not above playing dead to make that happen."
"Not necessary, I'd carry you anyway, if only to reward you for keeping up this long. You're doing great."
You foot caught a crack in the pavement, nearly hurling yourself into it, but Aaron's hand was there quicker keeping you upright as you tried to ignore the terrifying way your body had reacted to his compliment.
"Okay you can't just say stuff like that while I'm trying to run," you blurted out, avoiding his gaze. "You're trying to kill me, I swear."
You planted your hands on your hips, still trying to catch your breath, secretly relieved to have a break, even if it almost involved a face-first meeting with the sidewalk.
"Stuff like what?" He tugged at your ponytail and you swatted his hand.
"Nothing," you said way too quickly, shaking your head like you could physically toss what you said aside. "Forget I said anything. Let's just... keep running."
You quickly realized your mistake as soon as you started jogging again. You would never willingly suggest to keep running. Unfortunately, Aaron was actively aware of this, moving to come up beside you. You didn't need to look at him to know he had the stupidest smirk on his face.
He didn't say anything at first, to your immediate relief, just kept jogging beside you. The silence stretched on, his calm breathing only seeming to make your wheezing sound worse.
"You're breathing too shallow," he said after a moment, his tone completely casual like he wasn't even winded. "Try to take deeper breaths, match them to your strides. It'll make it easier."
You glanced towards him out of the corner of your eye before attempting his suggestion. You had no intention of letting him know that it worked. His ego was far too substantial for that.
"See? You're a natural," he said, shooting you a sidelong glance. "Atta girl."
Your brain flatlined and you almost tripped over your feet again, every rational thought replaced by static. What was wrong with you? You vaguely remembered reading somewhere that people with unresolved daddy issues were prone to developing praise kinks. Was that what this was? Whatever the reason, hearing Aaron talk like that shouldn't make you feel all gooey inside, but here you were, a puddle in running shoes.
"You okay?"
"Yeah, yup, fine!"
You stared at the ground so intensely, it was a miracle you didn't bore a hole into the pavement. Your voice had betrayed you, far too shaky and way too rushed, and you knew Aaron was probably filing away every bit of your reaction.
"Hey," he said softly, his hand brushing against the back of your neck as he spoke. "Stop staring at the ground. You'll run better if you keep your head up, it'll open your chest so you can breathe easier."
His hand lingered for a second too long than what your body could handle, leaving you completely flustered and fighting every urge to do exactly the opposite of what he said.
"There you go," he murmured, a small, approving smile tugging at his lips. "That's good, honey. Just like that."
His voice, his god forsaken voice, was like lightning to your system, and not in a good way. Or maybe it was a good way, which was the problem. It was bad enough to hearing it out here, on the jogging trail, but your brain decided to replay it in an entirely different inappropriate context: one that involved you, him, and a bed.
Your face burned, and you couldn't tell if it was from the exertion, or the very real possibility that your body was too receptive to those words. And now, not only were you fighting for every breath, but you were trying to figure out if the dampness between your legs was entirely from sweat. Surely it was sweat. Right? Gods, you hoped it was sweat.
You stopped so suddenly that Aaron jogged a few steps ahead before he realized you were not longer beside him.
"Okay, I'm calling it. I'm done. Can we please go home now?"
He jogged back to you, an easy smile on his face, and placed his hands on your shoulders as he reached you.
"Alright, we can be done," he teased, thumbs brushing lightly over your collarbones. "You survived, and you did great. I'm proud of you."
He leaned down then, pressing a soft, lingering kiss to your lips that made the ache in your body a little easier to ignore.
When he pulled away, you barely managed to keep standing.
Aaron let out a low laugh, his hands squeezing your shoulders. "Alright. What's going on? What's wrong with you?"
"I don't know what you're talking about," you said over your shoulder, practically power walking towards the car.
Aaron's laugh deepened and you ignored the funny feeling curling in your chest.
"Sweetheart," he said, gently tugging your elbow to slow you down. "Come on, talk to me."
"There's nothing to talk about, I'm fine!" You avoided his eyes as you tugged your elbow free. "I'm just tired, and, uh, need a shower."
A cold shower, your brain screamed, but you shoved the thought down.
"I know, I know you're tired," he said, lips curving into a smile, "but that's because you actually pushed yourself. I'm proud of you for sticking with it."
You were pretty convinced you were you were about to go up in flames. Your obituary would read death by too many unnecessary compliments. When your heart inevitably gave out, Aaron would have to explain to Rossi and the others how his dumb smile and sweet words had resulted in second degree manslaughter.
But then you saw it, the smirk. The one that said he absolutely knew what he was doing.
"Oh my gosh, you know!" You groaned and threw your hands in the air. "You know, and you're enjoying this!"
Spinning away from him, you stormed to the car, and slammed the door like it might shield you from his stupidly smug face.
You barely had time to exhale before the passenger door swung open, revealing Aaron, casually leaning against the car.
"You know," he said lightly, his tone far too casual for your liking, "slamming car doors isn't a great habit. You could hurt yourself."
"And you know," you snapped back, pointing at him, "torturing your girlfriend isn't a great habit either!"
He leaned in slowly, his fingers brushing against your shoulder as he grabbed your seatbelt. As he clicked it into place, his face lingered close to yours.
"I wasn't trying to torture you, baby. Just wanted to give you the chance to admit it, that you liked it."
Before you could muster a reply, Aaron's hand slid up to cradle your face, his thumb moving along your cheek. He leaned in, capturing your lips in a kiss that was so deep, leaving you no choice but to sink into it, even as the faint remnants of your annoyance tried to surface.
By the time he pulled back, you felt like you were under his spell. Then, without another word, he shut your door and headed to the driver's side.
"That's not fair," you muttered, crossing your arms and pouting as you stared out the window.
Aaron's hand found the back of your neck as he backed out of the parking spot, rubbing gently into smooth circles.
"I don't mean to be unfair," he said with a small smile. "I just needed to hear it, because sometimes people don't even realize what they need until they say it out loud. And I wanted to make sure I didn't misread anything, though I'm rarely wrong, as you know."
"Trust me, you remind me every chance you get." Your tone was dry, but you were well aware that the twitch in your lip was giving you away.
"Alright, smartass," he said, chuckling as his fingers pressed a little firmer into your neck. "Now tell me, how does it make you feel when I say those things to you?"
You groaned, burying your face in your hands. "I don't know, okay? I just... like it! Do I have to explain it?"
"You don't have to explain it if you don't want to," he said, "but I'd like to know what it is you like so much."
Aaron's hand moved from your neck to your hand, his fingers sliding between each of yours while his eyes stayed glued to the road, a thing that only came from months of familiar motions.
You let out a long breath. "I don't know. I just like hearing it. It makes me feel good. Special, I guess."
"You are special, sweetheart." His eyes flicked to you before returning to the road. "You're my best girl."
Your stomach flipped violently. You shifted again, trying to disguise the way your thighs pressed together tightly as your face burned hotter than ever. The debate earlier in your head was officially over, absolutely not just sweat, you thought miserably.
Aaron let out a soft chuckle, fingers brushing over your knuckles. "Something I said?"
You swatted his shoulder, your glare losing all its bite thanks to the flush all over your body. "You're enjoying this way too much."
"I can't help it," he murmured, voice dipping just enough to get you on edge. "But don't worry, I'll take care of my best girl once we're home."
You slumped in your seat, muttering something unintelligible that made Aaron chuckle again. And even though you wouldn't admit it, you found yourself smiling, already dreading and anticipating whatever he had planned when you got home.

pairing: old!logan x f!reader
Logan is sick and tired of you treating him like he's fragile. He'll ignore his relentless pain to show you what it's like to be taken apart, rough and slow, then fast and agonizing.
wc: 3.5k of pure smut
warnings: heavy smut, lap sitting, fingering, oral (f!receiving and m!receiving), dirty talk, facials, p in v, ruined orgasms, snowballing, kind of angsty, the claws come out, logan is angry with you, kinda toxic, definitely mean, but still kind of sweet, pwp basically, blood, but it's not bloodplay, it's just logan not caring if he's hurt, if i missed any let me know.
Logan comes home and throws himself back on that torn-up leather sofa, thumb flicking his lighter while the other holds a cigar. It’s less of a distraction from the ache in his bones, and more of a device to push you away. Because if you think he’s tired or angry or hurting, you won’t ask him to fuck you.
It’s not like he doesn’t want you. Of course he does. It’s the sympathy in your eyes when he gets tired from just a couple of minutes of thrusting that he hates. The whispered, “It’s okay. baby, I can ride you.” The gentle touches across his body and his neck and his face and his beard. It all reeks of pity. And if you were to sit him down one day and ask him why he hates being taken care of, he wouldn’t have an answer. He would push the voice in his head down into the void that all the strength he had left fell in, the voice shrinking until it’s nothing as it screams, because I’ve never been taken care of, and I would’ve loved it back when being taken care of wasn’t my only choice.
But it’s fine. You wouldn’t ever ask him that question because he knows for a fact that you don’t know. If you did, you wouldn’t be climbing onto his lap quietly, hands rubbing his sides as you press kisses to his neck.
“I missed you, Logan,” You whisper. Your hips aren’t moving; He knows he sat here like this to avoid fucking you, but he almost wishes you were seeking exactly that. Sex, as embarrassing as it would be for him, is better than your sick love. He doesn’t think you love in the way lovers do. It’s the kind of love meant for sick puppies, or the lonely old woman sitting on the bus with all her belongings in plastic bags.
He turns his head to take a drag of his cigar. Silence.
You hold his face, forcing him to look at you as you kiss him. Slow, chaste, no tongue. He feels scrutinized by your touches, and something nervous seats itself deep in his belly.
“How was your day?” You ask, your gaze snapping between his eyes.
Logan closes them. “I’m tired,” He says flatly.
“I know. It’s okay.”
There it is again. Pity.
He scoffs. It’s quiet. Barely there. He didn’t mean to. He watches your face fall the smallest bit. A year ago, he wouldn’t have noticed, and if he would’ve, he would blurt out an apology. Now, he does notice, but he secretly wants to watch it fall even further if it means you’ll realize how much you’ve been hurting him.
You swallow, your thumb rubbing his cheekbone. “I found an American poetry anthology in the basement today. 20th Century. My favorite poem was in it.”
He mumbles, “In a Station of the Metro. T.S. Elliot.” Remembering the poem you told him about months ago sounds too much like sorry. He wishes he’d pretended to forget.
“Ezra Pound,” You correct. Your smile tells him he’s forgiven for an apology he never offered. “If you can recite it I’ll be impressed.”
“I’m not reciting a goddamn poem.” He sounds sarcastic, and it relieves you, but then you kiss him and he’s wound tight again.
You sigh as you pull back. “What’s bothering you, baby?”
“Nothing’s bothering—”
“What’s bothering you?” You interject.
He shakes his head, clenching his jaw. He makes the decision to sacrifice his dignity for the sake of stopping this conversation. You never could resist an orgasm, especially one caused by him. “Enough of that.”
“What?”
But he’s putting out his cigar and lifting you off his lap with a suppressed grunt, then pushing you down on the couch.
“Logan,” You protest.
He continues undoing the drawstring of your pajamas, with a kind of slippery urgency that tells you he's trying to shut you up more than he's trying to satiate his own desire.
You sit up straight, swatting his hand away. “Stop.”
He withdraws immediately, breathing hard through his nose as he looks down at the floor. He was wrong, before, about you not knowing. You definitely know, because you don’t place a loving hand on his thigh and you don’t kiss his shoulder. He’s grateful.
Instead, you observe his profile, then the quiet tremor in his hand. The impossible stillness of the rest of him. He tends to do that when his nerves are on fire. Thinks being a statue is what people who aren’t in chronic pain do.
“Don’t do that,” He mumbles, feeling your eyes on him. “I don’t need you feeling sorry, or whatever—whatever the fuck else goes through your head when you’re around me.”
You say nothing. That’s the most he’s said about his feelings in a while. He knows it, so he forces himself to say nothing, too. It doesn’t last long.
“I’m not dying.” His voice cracks a little at the end and he fights the urge to squeeze his eyes shut.
“I know.” The words come out in a tumble, as if you’re rushing to participate in his lie.
“Then stop looking at me like I’m dying.”
“Okay.” Tears prickle your eyes but you blink them away.
“Okay,” He repeats.
You take a deep breath. “But it’s okay to be cared for, Logan.”
He laughs incredulously, and suddenly his volume is rising and his voice is firm. “Would you just—Would you just quit being my fuckin’ mommy? Would you?”
He only lets your silence marinate for a second before he rushes in to kiss you, ignoring the cramps in his muscles as he tugs your neck forward roughly. You squeak against his mouth, fighting his impossible grip on you, but you give up with a shaky exhale through your nose when your efforts prove useless.
“I can take care of you, too,” He grits out. It would sound sweet if it weren’t for the frustration in his tone. He pushes you onto the couch the same way he did moments before as he opens your legs by your knees and settles between them. He sucks a dark mark onto your neck, his fingers digging bruises in your ribs.
“I know you can,” You reassure him. You can see where this is going. “And I love when you do.” You gasp when he pulls your shirt up over the curve of your breasts.
“No. You don’t.” He pinches one of your nipples and sucks the other into his mouth for a brief second. “It’s okay. I’ll show you so you don’t forget again. You won’t want to get ruined any other way.”
“Logan,” You sigh.
He hums against the soft skin just underneath your breast as his hands ravage your body. He begins to unsheathe the adamantium claws in one of his hands so he can rip your top open. It’s slow and excruciating, so he closes his eyes, but the pain is over too soon and his suspicions are confirmed when he opens his eyes to see them stuck halfway.
You don’t expect him to lean back and individually tug each blade free. There’s blood, and now it’s dripping onto your belly, and he mumbles something that sounds like an apology as he wipes the dots of red away with his thumb.
But the hazel in his eyes is alive again. You hope it’s you that did that. Hope it’s not the pain or the sight of his own blood. You want to ask him, just to make sure. You don’t like hurting, right? You just really like me—
He slices through your shirt, careful not to graze your skin, and you try to ignore the fact that he’s never that cautious with himself, but you can’t.
“Logan, you’re bleeding.” Your voice is unstable.
“It’ll heal,” He says quickly, passively. He wipes his burning palm on his wifebeater.
“But that takes a long time now.”
He meets your eyes, his movements frozen. He’s angry and you’re not stupid. You’re pitying him again. He needs you to stop fucking pitying him. When he speaks, his voice is deep and rough and slow, and you would be scared if he wasn’t your Logan. “Are you done?”
You don’t know what to say, so you just close your eyes and nod. You hear his claws retract faster than when they came out, and almost simultaneously, he’s shoving that same hand under your waistband as two of his calloused fingers push themselves into your cunt.
You arch toward him involuntarily, a ragged moan falling from your lips as he tugs your pajamas off your legs and spits on your pussy to ease the slide of his fingers.
Each groan he pulls from your throat is a step toward dispelling the doubt from your body. Doubt of his capabilities, of his strength, of his devotion to you.
“Beg me to fuck you,” He demands, fingering you roughly.
Your mind is cloudy at this point, from sadness or arousal or both, but you give him what he wants. “Fuck me,” You whisper, your eyelids about to flutter shut as you shed a tear.
But then you catch Logan smiling.
He grabs your jaw with his free hand, and you look at him immediately. “You’re gonna let me use it, right? Get myself off?” You lazily trace his features with your gaze—His nose, his wrinkles, his beard—because you know if it were your fingers instead he’d mistake it for tenderness and get mad again.
You nod, but it’s weak with how hazy everything is.
“Good girl.”
“Please,” You sigh, “I need you inside of me. I need to—I need it.”
“I know. I know what you’re feeling before you feel it.” He lets the pad of his thumb draw quick circles on your clit. “What? Thought I couldn’t hear you playing with yourself in the shower? If I can hear your heartbeat when I walk through the door, what makes you think I wouldn’t have heard you whining my name?”
“Logan,” You sigh, your hips lifting off the couch, coaxing his fingers deeper for as long as possible before he’s shoving you back down with the heel of his palm.
“I’m gonna play with you now. I’ll fuck you after, don’t worry your pretty head about it.”
“What do you mean, play with me?” You breathe, fighting to keep your eyes open as he finds your g-spot.
He grins dirtily, in a way that makes your head spin and your thighs clench around his hand. You’re barely processing his words as he bends down to mumble in your ear, “Right when you’re about to make a mess on my fingers, I’m gonna stop. Then I’m gonna go down on you. And I’m gonna lick your pretty pussy, maybe even fuck you with my tongue if you’re good. And guess what? Guess what I’m gonna do when you’re this close?”
“You’re gonna stop,” You whine.
“I’m gonna stop,” He nods, and it’s mocking, but it’s gentle, and he’s fucking killing you with the way he’s talking right now. “But I’m not mean. I’ll give you a break. You can calm down when my dick is in your mouth, okay?”
“Okay,” You breathe, your hips unabashedly grinding on his fingers. But you want to reassure him he is mean, and you especially want to tell him how much you love it. “Logan, I’m gonna—”
He withdraws his fingers from you so fast it almost burns. You clench around nothing, your lower half spasming as your orgasm barely approaches before falling away again. Only a hint of pleasure is able to make it through the cracks, and you cling onto it, hoping if you focus hard enough, the wave will come back. It doesn’t. You should regret warning Logan that you were about to finish, but all you feel is comfort now that he’s finally proud of you again.
Another tear streams down the side of your face, landing in your hair. Logan’s watching you as he pets your thigh, his lips parted when he leans down over you. He kisses your wet cheek softly, his beard rough on your skin. It’s unlike him to offer you affection this gracefully during sex. It’s always shaky limbs and suppressed groans and dirty kisses. Both of you know it.
He moves down your body, until his face is hovering over your cunt. He doesn’t have his reading glasses on, so he has to pull his head back and squint as he spreads your folds with his thumbs, studying what you look like. He licks a stripe over you. A second, longer one, before he zeroes in on your clit. You can do nothing except lay there and take it as your hips twitch from overstimulation under his firm hands.
“Oh my god,” You whisper, your fingers twisting in his hair. “F-Fuck.”
He moans at that, pressed right up against you, the sound deep and delicious and vibrating. “Feel good?” He asks teasingly with a nip to your inner thigh.
“What do—What the fuck do you think?”
He breathes a laugh. It’s short and airy, not frustrated like before, and a warmth ignites itself in the back of your mind. It’s overpowering even the feeling of his mouth licking and sucking your most sensitive area; It’s the relief that he’s still hiding the Logan you fell in love with somewhere in there.
You wind your fingers in his hair and scratch his scalp. You try to do it lovingly, although it comes across as sexual and Logan’s breath hitches in pleasure against your pussy instead. So as you suppress a gasp from the pure skill of his tongue, you show your affection differently—you hold the wounded hand he has resting face-up beside your hip. The cuts embedded there are easy to avoid as your thumb rubs the lines of his palm, because even though you can’t see his hand, the puffiness surrounding each slash on his skin are your cues.
He doesn’t move his hand away, but his tongue falters for a fraction of a second before slowing down.
The kind of love you’re pressing into Logan’s skin with each gentle stroke is unrecognizable to him. It’s not the pitiful love he’s so used to. He thinks it might be the opposite. Admiration. Reverence.
“I’m so empty,” You whisper, bringing your hands to grope Logan’s biceps. They’re sweaty and hard and flexing under your touch, and you wonder if he would let you ride them one day.
When your climax starts to creep up on you, it’s thanks to the image of Logan forcing you to lick your arousal clean off his bicep. Indulgently swirling your tongue along his pronounced veins, savoring the taste of his sweat mixed with yourself. He’d probably say somthing like, fuckin’ filthy. Getting yourself off on my arm. Who does that? Are you that obsessed with me?
Logan feels you squeezing his tongue, harder than all the other times before, so he withdraws at the last moment, ruining your orgasm once again.
You convulse silently, your breath coming out stuttered with your twitching jaw. As if he can read your mind, he unbuckles his belt and removes his pants and boxers. But he doesn’t strip himself of his wifebeater, stained with blood.
It’s the hottest thing in the world.
You blink, and suddenly Logan is hovering above you with his cock over your face. He rubs his leaking tip on your cheeks first, then your lips, and when you open your mouth to take him, he moves his cock away and nudges your jaw shut with his free hand, shaking his head.
“Not yet.”
A whine lodges itself in your throat as Logan spreads his pre-come over the plush of your lips. It escapes only when he lets go of his cock in favor of massaging his wetness across your lips and on your tongue with his thumb. His hard cock is bobbing above you, almost tantalizingly, the occasional drip of arousal landing itself somewhere near your eyes, then your hair, then your mouth, and you watch Logan’s brow furrow as you try to lick whatever you can.
His resolve snaps. A calloused hand squeezes at your cheeks until your jaw falls open. His cock is in your mouth before you can process it, thick and heavy and wet. So. Incredibly. Wet. You start to wonder how it’s even possible that he’s this hard at his age, but you know he wouldn’t want you to be wondering that, so you happily push the thought away.
You suck your cheeks in, swirling your tongue around his tip as you bob your head to meet the subtle, almost imperceivable thrust of his hips. You’re taking it well, you know you are. So you keep taking it, until Logan can no longer successfully suppress his moans and his hips are jerking out of rhythm.
He moves back until his cock slips out of your mouth. “I don’t wanna come like this. Wanna fuck you.”
“Yeah, yes. Fuck me. Please.”
He stands up and turns you on your front, your knees pressing into the soft couch cushions with your ass in the air.
“Logan,” You plead as you feel his tip pressing at your entrance.
“I’ve got you,” He says quietly, pushing in until half of his cock is comfortably squeezed by your cunt. Both your breathing is loud and labored, and there’s a specific kind of intimacy in knowing you’re both feeling this identical need. Overwhelming and hot and unquenchable by anything other than each other.
His first thrust is shallow, but it ruins you all the same. With how thick he is, it should feel like an intrusion, and it does. But all you can think about is how perfectly he fits inside of you, filling you extraordinarily with only a few inches.
“Fuck,” Logan breathes. “Look at that.” He traces around your entrance with his thumb. “Stretching so wide to take me.”
You moan, pressing your cheek against the sofa as you rock with his thrusts. He still hasn’t pressed all the way in yet, and you’re growing impatient. “Come on,” You urge, pushing yourself back to force more of his cock into you.
You expect him to chastise you for being so greedy, but he listens to you instead with a slow, full thrust. His tip nudges your cervix with how deep he is, and a ragged moan escapes you. “Yes,” You whine, “Oh god, yes.”
Logan’s breaths are coming out heavy through his nose, quick and occasionally intertwined with a grunt. His thrusts are getting quicker, and it’s starting to burn, but you welcome every sensation he has to offer you. He pulls out, spits on his cock, then shoves himself back inside, and this time you’re both unabashedly moaning the minute you’re joined again.
His fingers dig in the plush of your ass as he observes himself disappearing into you. It hurts, but you love it. He knows you do, so he spanks you quickly before gripping you and rutting against you again.
“I love when you fuck me,” You whisper, feeling ashamed as soon as the confession leave you. “When you properly fuck me.”
He slows for a moment so he can watch his cock glisten with how wet you are. “I know.” He picks back up his punishing pace.
Your eyes begin to water, from pain or pleasure, you can’t tell. “I love you.”
“I know,” He repeats, this time breathier. His hips stutter. You can tell he’s close.
“I want it on my face,” You tell him quickly, his impending orgasm giving you no time to worry about being too forward.
He pulls out again, letting you turn onto your back as he shifts up your body. He jerks himself furiously, but you swat his hand away and take it upon yourself to stroke him.
“Come for me,” You tell him honestly, softly. His eyes squeeze shut and his lips part around a trembling exhale.
He groans as his release coats your face in long stripes. Some of it even lands in your hair, but you don’t care. Your own fingers work your clit as you stick your tongue out and taste him. Logan bends down to kiss you, chest heaving and hands shaky, and you rub yourself faster as you swap his release between the two of you with a hum. He pulls back to let you swallow, then he kisses your cheeks with his rough beard, uncaring about the mess on your face.
You don’t know you’re coming until it’s over and you’re breathless, and it’s almost excruciating with how much he’s ruined you, but you’re so exhausted you can’t find it in yourself to dwell on it a second longer.
You wrap your arms around his neck and tug him down for another kiss because you can hardly remember the one he just gave you.
“I’m sorry I had been treating you all wrong,” You say carefully.
“It doesn’t matter anymore.” His voice is rough.
You nod, your lips brushing his as you smooth sweaty strands of hair away from his forehead. These touches are hard for him. Any variation of your chaste affection is a reminder that he’s not really Logan anymore.
But the shame in it is gone. Replaced by the reassurance that he can still surround you with safety and firm hands and blatant desire;
And for a moment, he’s his old self again.
A/N: it's been so long since i've written anything, but logan has been consuming my brain for weeks so i had to get this out. i hope it's true to his character. <3 also, my asks are open, so feel free to request anything you want to read about.

DUDE! SHE LIKES YOU BACK
spencer reid x fem! reader
synopsis: in which reader has returned from a field injury and Spencer surprises her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Being shot wasn’t the badass experience all those cop shows made it out to be. It hurt, like a bitch and the recovery made you feel weak and useless. You werent allowed to work and were limited to doing paperwork from home.
However, today was the first day Hotch had allowed you to come into the office and work. Everything remained the same, the vending machine in the hall still required a good kick for it to actually give up the food inside, the ladies bathroom still had that one out of order stall and all your employees hadn’t changed one bit.
The thing that did catch you by surprise was the sight of beautiful spasms of colour put into a glass full of water.
Flowers.
They looked way too particular to be the generic $5 bouquet that had been bought from a supermarket. There were pink tulips, a few stems of lavender, peonies and a delicate sunflower in the middle of them all and the stems were wrapped in a white bow which was now drenched into the water but was further proof for its individuality.
You took a seat at your desk picking up the flowers and inspecting them closely, an attempt to see if anyone had left a note- a clear sign as to who sent them but your question was soon answered when a familiar voice sounded behind you.
“Oh! Do you like them?”
Spencer.
Before you could even say anything to him he started rambling
“I read up about botany and found out many believe that pink tulips symbolise affection and care, lavender represents healing and that peonies present good luck.” He paused his explanation by pulling his lips into one of his straight lined smile and nodding his head nervously.
“Oh! And the sunflower was just because I thought it looked pretty and you have Van Goughs portrait in your apartment.”
You smiled laughing at the clear thought he put into them. He looked like he want to say something else but you interrupted him by pulling him into a hug pressing your head into his neck. He seemed surprised at the hug but willingly reciprocated and wrapped his arms around your lower back. You both ignored the wolf whistle clearly made by Derek.
“Thank you, Spence, they’re beautiful.”
He blushed at the gratitude, “It’s the least I could do after your injury. Speaking of can I help you with anything?”
You laughed sitting down, ”God no. Thank you. But seriously, everyone is making this way big of a deal than it actually is. I’m not running a marathon I’m just writing files.”
He laughed again the blush still evident on his cheeks. You stood up and announced you would be right back - fleeing to grab more files from Hotch. The coworkers who saw all began heckling Spencer at what just happened.
“My man! Who knew pretty boy had this much game?” Derek hollered slapping Spencer’s back. Whilst Penelope almost jumped up and down in delight. “Oh my god they’re gonna have baby geniuses.”
“Garcia I gave her flowers not an engagement ring.” Spencer stated.
“Who’s getting an engagement ring?” Emily asked finally arriving for work.
“Nobody…yet” Penelope answered wiggling her eyebrows and walking back to her lair.
Spencer was so pleased with himself but a question Emily asked made his blood run cold.
“Yikes! Who got L/N flowers?”
“Me. Why? Is that a problem? Oh god is she allergic? I should have known!”
“No it’s just she hates flowers. I offered to get her some after she told me her had cat passed but she told me not to and that although she was grateful she couldn’t imagine a worse gift.”
Spencer’s eyes were practically gouging out of his head with anxiety and Derek couldn’t help but laugh as he joined the two.
Spencer looked between them rapidly and stuttered out, “What? But she gave me a hug and said they were beautiful? Do, do you think she lied?”
Emily raised her eyebrows mouth opening as she let out a knowing laugh. Derek looked at her and soon reacted similarly.
“What?” Spencer asked growing annoyed feeling like a child being left out of a game by their peers.
Derek offered an explanation. “You know how you’re a germaphobe but had no problem making out with Lila Archer that one time in the pool?”
Spencer blushed with embarrassment, “Why do you always bring that up?”
Emily rolled her eyes brushing him off and added to the point. “Spencer I think this is one of those situations.”
He furrowed his eyebrows confused. And Emily leaned in waiting for him to get it. His brows remained furrowed as he spoke again.“I don’t get it. Is this supposed to mean something?”
Derek rolled his eyes all concepts of being subtle gone out of the window.
“Dude! She likes you back.”

weaknesses: your cooking
König was on watch with you late one night, and you insisted upon filling the air with a bit of conversation– said you needed it to stay awake. You end up asking him lots of questions that night, including all of his favorite foods and drinks. He has trouble answering, he’s never had to come up with this much information about himself, but you don’t mind.
“Do you have a favorite dessert? Mine is lemon meringue pie,” you say with a sweet little smile. It makes him realize how cute you are. That, outside of your uniforms, a cute girl is talking to him. It makes him panic a little, such that he can only bring himself to respond with a quiet me too.
He had no idea what his favorite dessert was when you asked. He wasn’t even sure he particularly enjoyed desserts at all, honestly. He’s hoping you forget about this embarrassing exchange, really. But you don’t.
You’re stationed in Switzerland when next it comes up. You proudly come back to your accommodations with a little box from a bakery. “I saw this in town today and remembered that you liked meringue too! So I got one, if you wanted to share it with me?”
He just nods. And it’s the best fucking dessert he’s ever had. Which has little to do with how the desert itself tastes. It becomes the first dessert he learns how to make at home, and he makes his best yet when you’re celebrating moving in together. It’s when he’s feeding it to you that he finally comes clean– when you’d asked him his favorite dessert, he’d never even eaten lemon meringue pie before.
Gaz takes incredibly good care of himself. He detests getting sick, maybe more than anything else. It’s just so annoying, and it totally ruins his momentum– throws him off his groove. So he very very rarely gets sick, and is in fact often disgustingly bright, healthy, and energetic.
Gaz also comes from a home that had amazing food. His standards are, understandably, quite high. A piece of his soul leaves with every MRE he consumes. Which is why his favorite food from you is such a surprise.
It’s during the infancy of your relationship. You’ve been on a few dates. Exploratory, probing, trying to deduce if this is love or just the symptoms of it. He’s on the fence about telling you he’s fallen ill– it’s a little awkward, isn’t it? Partners are supposed to take care of each other in times like that, but he’s not sure you’re ready to be called his partner, much less be around him when he’s a germ factory. But he ends up telling you, if only not to look like he’s ignoring you if he slips into another death-nap while you’re texting.
You do end up coming over, despite all his warnings, all of the easy outs he provides you with. Get him a fresh gatorade before busying yourself in his kitchen.
You come back with a steaming mug that he doesn’t recognize. You say you brought it from home– that it’s your special mug you like to use when you feel icky. It’s got wisteria painted on the side with the scientific name in script next to it, and a little silver spoon with a teddy bear on the end is sticking out of it.
He takes the mug gratefully but still a little cautious– he doesn’t really know all that much about your cooking, and he’ll readily admit that his parents ruined the standard.
He looks down in it to see oatmeal. A bit of cinnamon dusted on, a golden swirl of honey going through it. Just a little bit of cardamom.
He used to hate oatmeal when he was a kid, but he finishes the mug in record time and asks if you’ll make more. It’s just so soft and hot– gentle on his aching stomach and sore throat, the heat and cinnamon spice clearing up his sinuses a little bit. The sweetness is perfect and comforting as it sticks to the roof of his mouth.
Nowadays he keeps up the same wellness regimen, but he does almost look forward to getting sick, because it means you’ll make oatmeal for him.
When sharing a safehouse with Soap, there’s one inevitable constant: the whining. He always finds something to whinge about, just to ease his own boredom. It’s never about the conditions, having to sleep on shitty mattresses on floors, having to trek 10 miles through the dark and fog to even get there– it’s always about something stupid.
Girl who hasn’t texted him back. His deployment making him miss out on a limited edition thing he would’ve wanted to buy. That during his last leave a girl ghosted him after he barked during sex. Come to think of it, it was usually about his girl problems.
But this time, it was that he happened to be deployed on his birthday. Not that he’s sore about spending time with the taskforce, you’re his best mates in the world– but there’s not much celebration to be had out here.
“Could do with a fockin’ cake, ye ken?”
You were taken onto this squad for your adaptability. You’re brilliant when it comes to improvisation. And there’s a couple of shelf stable things left around in the cabinets here, although dubious.
So what are you able to bang together with flour, sugar, and the liquid from a can of chickpeas in some tin cups on top of a butane stove on its last legs?
That’s right. A fockin’ cake. Is it good? God no. The texture is weird as hell and it’s somehow dry on the outside but completely raw in the middle. But Soap smiles the entire time he’s eating it, and god knows he’s finishing the whole damned thing.
He was always of the mind that it’s rude not to finish your wife’s cooking.
It’s Price’s first holiday with you, and his expectations are low. Not as in he doesn’t think you’ll be lovely and amazing, he most certainly does, but his whole squad is coming over and preparing for that is a pretty big undertaking. So if it’s something a little more casual, maybe a bit of potluck, he’ll be perfectly fine with that. His ex used to order catering and tell the guests that she’d cooked it all herself, so anything is a step up from that in his book.
You stun him absolutely stupid when you not only plan a spectacular, full holiday dinner, but you make his boys help out– commanding them in the kitchen the same way he does in the field. Well, maybe a bit less forgiving. You’re less tender-hearted than him when the moistness of the roast in the oven is on the line. Everything is delicious, full of love, and satisfying beyond belief.
But his true fulfillment comes about a year later when his soldiers are awkwardly talking around their plans for the holidays, trying to nudge him into inviting them over again to make dinner with his missus. Muppets, the lot of them.
A lot of Ghost’s concept of vegetables come from army food, school cafeterias, and all-you-can-eat buffets. Typically frozen, only to be thawed and overcooked to an ungodly degree. On the rare occasion he had a half-decent meal with a vegetable side, it was typically covered in butter, cheese, or finely chopped bacon. Sometimes a combination of the three.
You’re a hookup he falls back on a lot when he’s on leave. Keeps him away from his empty apartments and crowded mind. This time, he comes straight to your place when he lands, wanting to lose himself in your cunt more than anything else. And you’re accommodating, you don’t have anything better to do and he doesn’t leave you wanting.
Usually he makes himself scarce pretty quickly, but this time he finds that maybe he was still running on adrenaline when he came in, and now that it’s wearing off with his post-orgasm high, his entire body is killing him. He feels like lead. And he hates that his struggle is plain to see.
“You can just stay, y’know. S’not like I’ll be expecting a wedding ring in the morning or anything. I’m just gonna go make dinner.”
He’s too tired to protest. Falls asleep just about as soon as you’re out of the room, despite very much intending to get the hell up and pass out somewhere that isn’t your apartment. He wakes up to an amazing smell.
Your dinner isn’t complicated. You’d just planned to have dinner by yourself, so it wasn’t fancy or anything. Grilled some salmon, put it over rice with some unagi sauce, steamed some fresh veggies for the side. Simon just barely has the energy to amble over to your kitchen table when it’s clear he won’t be leaving the premises any time soon.
When he’s not eating food that’s mass produced and shitty, he expects to be eating the kind of battered and fried pub faire that sits like a stone and ravages the digestive tract.
This may very well be the first time he’s eaten a meal that was genuinely good that didn’t make him feel at least a little bit disgusting afterwards. And god– it’s like it’s his first time tasting a vegetable for real. Why didn’t anyone tell him they could be this way?
You’re quite frankly shocked when you wake up in the morning and Simon is not only still there– he wants to take you out to breakfast.
The truth is that he got a pretty remarkably good night’s rest, but in the wee hours while he was waiting for you to wake up? He was planning. The jump from friends with benefits to marriage won’t really be so difficult if he can play his cards right.

Call Me When You Breakup
Pairing: Max Verstappen x Reader
Summary: Max is in the wrong relationship, and you both know it. But knowing isn’t choosing, and you’re done waiting.
1.8k words / Inspo / Role Reversal / Masterlist
Tumblr media
You don't want to be here.
Not in this overpriced, dimly lit restaurant. Not sitting across from your best friend who, for all intents and purposes, should be yours but isn't. Not watching him share a plate of something too delicate, too refined, with someone who doesn’t know him the way you do.
You shouldn't be here, but you are. Because Max asked, and you’ve never been able to say no to him.
His girlfriend, the word itself sticks in your throat like it doesn’t belong there, sits beside him her hand curled possessively around his arm like it’s an accessory.
She's beautiful in that effortless way that makes it impossible to hate her, but easy to envy and you do, not because she's done anything wrong, but because she has him and you don’t. She’s the kind of girl who wears white to brunch and never spills anything. Who smiles with her teeth but never with her eyes. She laughs at all the right moments, smiles like she’s being watched, and you suppose she probably always is.
She tells people he’s different with her, like it’s some accomplishment, like she’s smoothed out all the parts of him that used to be real. And maybe that’s what she wants, a version of Max that’s easier to manage. More polished. Less... passionate.
And maybe he needs that. Maybe it’s easier to be loved when no one sees the cracks.
But you do.
And you love him anyway.
"You're quiet tonight."
Max's voice breaks through the fog of your thoughts, dragging you back into the present. His blue eyes flick to yours, brow furrowed. You know that look. Concern. Like he always gets when you're not yourself. Like he doesn't realise he’s the reason why.
"I'm fine," you lie, forcing a smile that doesn't quite reach your eyes. "Just tired."
His girlfriend, her name, why does her name escape you? Leans in, pressing a kiss to his cheek, whispering something you can’t hear. Max laughs, low and affectionate, and it splinters something inside you.
You force your attention back to your plate, pushing the delicate food around with your fork, though you have no appetite for it. Each bite seems tasteless, it’s not the kind of meal you’re used to. You’d much rather be somewhere familiar, somewhere real, where the food is greasy and the air is thick with laughter, the kind of places where Max talks with his hands and lets himself forget who he has to be.
But tonight, he’s wearing someone else’s life. And you’re just the spectator.
Max's laughter, though, it’s still real. It’s just harder to swallow now, harder to accept, because it’s not for you. Not tonight.
Then he leans in closer than necessary, voice dropping again, warm and soothing, bringing you back to the present. "Are you sure you're okay?"
Your heart stutters for a beat. The question, the tone it’s always the same. Always concerned. Always directed at you. But never for you. You’ve learned to ignore the quiet ache that blossoms each time, because it’s pointless.
"I'm fine," you repeat, this time with more conviction. The smile feels less forced but still unnatural. "I promise."
His eyes linger on you like it’s a habit he can’t break, and you can tell he’s not buying it. His gaze flicks briefly to his girlfriend, who is now chatting animatedly with the waiter about some wine pairing, before he leans in, close enough that only you can hear.
"Are you sure? You know you can talk to me right?"
That damn sweetness in his voice. That quiet tenderness he saves just for you, like a secret between the two of you, a secret you’re not sure you can keep much longer. His girlfriend is only a few inches away, but the distance between you and Max has never felt more cavernous.
You swallow, unable to look at him, because if you do, you might say something you can’t take back. Something that would shatter the delicate balance you’ve managed to maintain.
You want to tell him that you're not fine. That you haven’t been for a long time. But you can’t. You just can't.
Instead, you nod, your throat tightening, unable to force the words past your lips. He doesn’t need to know. Not now. Not when it could ruin everything.
Tumblr media
Later that night when you’re alone in your apartment, you do what you swore you wouldn’t.
You scroll through old photos, ones where it was just you and Max, before… before everything became complicated. Late-night drives through Monaco, your legs propped up on his dashboard. His arm around you after a race, champagne still clinging to his skin. The way he looked at you, like you were his whole world.
And maybe you were.
Maybe, for a time, he was yours too.
You miss him. Not the version of him you get now, careful and distant, but the Max who used to call you at 3 a.m. just to talk. The Max who used to sit on your bathroom counter while you took off your makeup, who would trace patterns into your wrist absentmindedly as you talked about the future.
That version of Max doesn’t exist anymore.
Or maybe he does. Maybe he’s just buried under the weight of a relationship that isn’t meant for him.
She’s the safe choice. The quiet, easy path. She’ll never demand the real version of him, but she’s there and for now that’s enough for him.
Your fingers hover over his name in your phone, heart hammering in your chest. You shouldn’t call.
But you want to.
Call me when you break up.
The words sit on the tip of your tongue, but you swallow them down.
Instead, you type a message you’ll never send.
We’re so meant for each other, when will you wake up?
You read the words, and the weight of them sinks deep in your chest. But you delete them immediately. They’re too raw. Too desperate. Too honest.
With a shaky breath, you shut off your phone, the screen fading to black.
Tumblr media
The thing about being in love with Max Verstappen is that you never really stop waiting.
You wait for him to see you. Wait for him to realise what you've always known. Wait for the moment when he’ll turn to you and say, it was always you.
But waiting is exhausting.
And you're tired of feeling like an afterthought.
So you do what any rational, heartbroken person would. You try to forget.
You let strangers buy you drinks, let them whisper sweet nothings into your ear, let them kiss you in the dark corners of bars where no one knows your name. You chase distractions, hoping that one of them will make you feel something, anything, other than the ache of missing him.
But they never do.
Because none of them are Max.
And maybe that’s why when your phone rings one night, his name flashing across the screen, you still answer without hesitation. Because this isn’t the first time. It’s become a pattern. A quiet, painful ritual. A fight with her. A call to you.
"Hey."
He sounds off. Tired. Worn down in a way you’ve never heard before.
"Can I come over?"
Your pulse spikes. "Max—"
"I just… I don’t want to be alone right now."
The unspoken words hang between you.
I don’t want to be with her right now.
You exhale shakily. "Yeah. Of course."
Twenty minutes later, the doorbell rings, cutting through the silence that had settled over your apartment like a heavy fog. You stand frozen for a moment, uncertainty crawling up your spine, before you force your legs to move.
He looks wrecked. Like he hasn't slept in days. He doesn't say anything at first, just steps inside, closing the distance between you in a way that makes your breath catch.
"Did something happen?" you ask softly.
Max shakes his head, exhaling sharply. "I just needed to see you."
The space between you closes with a speed that makes your pulse skip. It’s like he’s always known the exact way to find you, to make everything else fade away, to pull you back in like you’re a magnet and he’s the force that won’t let you escape.
His eyes search yours, and it’s in that moment you realise he knows.
He knows he's with the wrong person.
He knows that no matter how much he tries to pretend, it’s always been you.
But knowing something and choosing it are two entirely different things.
And you’re tired. Tired of waiting for him to make the right choice. Tired of standing here, always second. Always the backup when things aren’t perfect in his world.
So you step back, putting space between you that feels like a chasm.
"You can’t do this," you whisper. "You can't just run to me when things go wrong with her. It’s not fair."
His jaw tightens at your words, the muscle in his cheek twitching, but he doesn’t argue. Instead, he looks down, taking a long breath, his chest rising and falling with the weight of something unspoken. You can see the frustration, the guilt in the way his shoulders tense, but it doesn’t change anything.
"I—"
"You love me Max." Your throat tightens, interrupting him before he can pull you in, and you hate the way your voice cracks on the last word, but you don’t care. "I know you do."
Silence.
Painful, suffocating silence.
But then—
"I do." His voice is raw, like the words are being torn from him. "I do love you."
Your breath stutters. "Then why are you still with her?"
Max opens his mouth to respond, but the words die on his lips. His eyes dart away from yours, like he’s trying to find the right thing to say but can’t. He clenches his fists at his sides, and the tension in his body is palpable. "I... I don’t know," he mutters, voice thick. "I don’t know what I’m supposed to do."
"You’re supposed to choose Max!" Your voice cracks, the frustration bubbling over.
He opens his mouth again, but the words won't come. You watch him struggle, like he’s stuck in a loop of his own making. "I don’t want to lose you. I don’t want to hurt you," he says, regret creeping in.
"But you have," you say, your voice steady but filled with everything you’ve been holding in. "You have hurt me Max. And you don’t get to keep doing that and expect me to just be here when you feel like it."
Max takes a step toward you, but you shake your head, stepping back. "No," you whisper, shaking your head. "You don’t get to do this. You don’t get to have me when it’s convenient for you. You either choose me, or you don’t."
Max opens his mouth, but nothing comes out. Because there’s no excuse. No reason good enough.
Just fear.
Of change. Of consequences. Of finally choosing what’s real over what’s easy.
And you? You’re done waiting for him to be brave.
So you smile, even though it hurts. Even though your heart is shattering.
"Call me when you break up."
Then you shut the door.

part one - part two - part three (you're here!) - part four - part five- six
simon can't believe how far hes fallen.
Lurking outside high street underwear shops, stealing your phone, worst of all? He’s sipping tea in an overpriced coffee shop, you used to always want to meet him in the place opposite but he didn’t fancy a public indecency charge so he’d let you sit there for while, order drinks for the two of you and wait, when his tea turned told and yours had been drank you usually got a text saying to come over, he didn’t feel like going into town.
Your not even with him explaining that matcha is actually really good and he should try it, no your fawning over johnny and he’s watching his bird. He hopes this is rock bottom but he feels like it’s not.
"lass if I dinnae know better, I'd think ya' was avoiding me" his playful tone doesnt hide the hurt, he wants you to feel bad for ghosting him, and you do. Johnnys never been mean. Never mistreated you, why are you punishing him for Simon’s mistakes?
"im sorry, I know you and simon are close but he really did number on me and I just, I just don't wanna risk bumping into him." he can praticularly smell the the anxiety coming off you.
"Aye he’s been going mad, wants his wee bird back." Johnny says feigning sadness for his mate. in honestly Johnny was enjoying it, you were talking to him, looking at him, while simon gawked at you two from across the road.
you laugh, "no he wants a warm hole." you blurt out, causing Johnny to laugh, he expecting you to cry or something but not be that blunt.
“Lass hes just nae used to-” johnny tries to defend him but you cut him off, frustrated, you were what? a decade younger and knew how to treat people well.
“Used to what? He’s 40.” You snap back, Simon was old enough to know better.
“He’s nae 40 yet hen, and he’s not used to tiptoeing, ya know?” He laughs at you adding years to him, he’s sure Simon is seething but he can’t quite make out his expression
“Tiptoeing?” You question. You can accuse Simon of a lot of stuff but tiptoeing? Not fucking one of them, if stomping on people was an Olympic sport he’d be bringing home a gold medal.
“Yeah like your so sensitive lass and he’s nae really used to it.” Johnny says simply and when your face drops he knows his choice of words could maybe use some work especially when you excuse yourself to the bathroom.
Johnny cant help himself. he can see simon through the window, sipping on his tea as he watches this little pre date. So he calls him up, simon was saying earlier he misses that pretty voice well he actually complained about how much you used to talk at him and how the peace and quiet was actually nice.
However Johnnys an expert in simonisms and that means he miss you and wants you to come back to him, he gets the same treatment, they all do. telling him to be quiet.
when you rejoin the table his phone is face or screen down, speaker pointing towards you, next to a another drink for you.
How sweet of him:)
"had to keep ya here somehow," he explained as he asked how you were doing, you had left the flat so defeated. He hated to see a pretty girl so sad.
his eyes seemingly look pass you though, getting lost out the window. Usually he was attentive maybe he didn’t want to slag off Simon, but he keeps pushing, asking how you’re feeling, what you’ve been doing and though his eyes drift back to the window but you can ignore it, for now.
"I don't know,“ you stare into the drink you stir it, the ice clinking against the glass. “It just hurt and I feel so stupid.” It’s practically a whisper, you look like a kicked puppy and Johnny, Johnny’s staring out the window with a smirk on his face. Does he find it funny? Is he gonna tell Simon? Why would you slag off Simon to his best mate?
Anxiety starts to bubble, and you just wanna leave before you embarrass yourself anymore.
Your gaze follows his out the window, now you don’t have binoculars but that looks a little like Simon, weird. It would look too weird if you were to pull out your phone and zoom in with the camera. You start to feel for your phone but it’s not in your pocket, you must’ve slipped it into one of the bags.
“Johnny do you have the time?” You ask softly and before he can react, you’re flipping over his phone and greeted by Simon’s caller ID. What the fuck?
“Johnny what the fuck? “
“Lass-“ johnny doesn’t have time to concoct a lie, your up and glaring down at him, he’d never seen you angry but it was hot, he just wished it was in different, more come backable circumstances.
“No johnny what the fuck, has Simon been on the phone this entire time?” Your voice cracks and your lips tremble, embarrassed you opened up to him, Simon’s best fucking mate, embarrassed Simon knew how much he hurt
“No I don’t give a shit Simon can go fuck himself and so can you” you cut him off again, he can choke on whatever he was gonna say.
Before johnny can ask for his coffee in a to go cup you’re out the door, rushing home, tears stinging at your eyes once again. You just want to sprint home once you hear johnny belt out your name and you speed up, darting down an alleyway.
You wipe your tears before colliding into a wall you swore wasn’t there on the walk into town, a fleshy, human wall.
Its Simon.
Once again! How perfect .

MAX
First, came the soft click of Oliver’s bedroom door, and then the lazy thump of Max’s feet making his way back to you.
Leaning your side against the kitchen counter, you knew a conversation was coming. From the moment you heard the question and turned the TV off, to the moment Max arrived home with a smile on his face, you knew it wouldn’t be something either of you could ignore.
“Fucking hell,” he murmured as soon as he stepped into view, both hands running up and down his face. “I can’t remember the last time I wanted to punch someone’s stupid face this fucking much.”
You pressed your lips together and shifted on your feet, stepping away from the counter. This was the first moment alone the two of you had gotten after the race, the first moment without a little boy demanding attention, and the first moment Max was finally letting it all out. The anger, the frustration, the disappointment. So you didn’t want to shush him. You didn’t want to tell him he shouldn’t be cursing and swearing right now, that he should be careful, that he should think before he spoke. It didn’t seem fair to him, especially after he had clearly tried his best to put on a fantastic show in front of your son.
“Did you watch it?” he asked, voice closer than before.
You nodded, removing the whistling kettle from the hob and stepping towards the empty mugs. “Just saw the video. We were watching it live on TV, but I turned it off as soon as I noticed what was happening.”
“Shit.”
“Oli didn’t hear a thing tho, don’t worry about it.”
You took your time filling the first mug, watching how the tea bag floated and swayed in the water, then eventually sank into the bottom.
“They were so out of line,” Max said, his voice a quiet whisper in the bright kitchen. “I can’t believe that question even crossed their minds.”
“I know…”
“But I caught his name,” Max added. “And I had a meeting with the team as soon as I called the interview off. I’ll make sure that guy doesn’t get a fucking word from me anymore.”
You nodded again, and poured boiling water into the other mug. His mug.
A moment went by before you felt him. Before he wrapped his arms around your waist, rested his chin on your shoulder, and pressed his chest against your back.
“You ok?” he asked, voice low and too close to your ear.
You placed the kettle back in place and nodded, one hand resting on his forearm and the other reaching to touch his face.
“Yeah…” you said, your body instantly leaning into him. “I’m just… I hate that you had to go through that.”
Max nodded, his facial hair brushing your skin as he moved to kiss your palm. Once, and twice.
“Sorry,” he murmured, his lips brushing against your skin as he spoke. “For putting you two in this position.”
At that, you frowned. You dropped your hand and shifted on your feet, turning to properly face him.
Max’s exhaustion was written all over him. But there was also worry there. Maybe a little bit of fear, too.
“Hey,” you said, hands cradling his cheeks, eyes firm inside his gaze. “Don’t be silly. What you did for us was amazing.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah. The way you stood up for us… The fact that you won’t let anyone speak about our son like that… That’s what I care about.”
He sighed, then leaned in. Forehead resting against yours while he closed his eyes.
“Our son,” he repeated, like he was savouring the words.
“Mhmm…” You nodded, slightly. Just for him to feel the movement face to face, skin to skin. “It was really hot, y’know? To see you like that…”
Max smirked. Eyes staying close while he listened to you.
“The way you talked about us… How you got all worked up… When you said ‘that kid is mine’?” You sighed. Loudly than you normally would. Your hands moving down to his neck, shoulders, then back to cradle his face. “And then when you stormed off… Damn you, Max.”
A low, amused chuckle escaped from his chest, his whole body shaking lightly against you. “I should’ve figured you’d like that.”
“You should, yeah…”
You leaned in, then. Your lips barely meeting his before you pulled back again.
Max reacted instantly, taking a step forward and fully pressing you onto the counter, his feet slotting between your legs. “Hate teasing,” he murmured, already crashing your mouths together for a much needier kiss.
You smiled, his lips barely giving you any time before he was capturing them again.
And again.
And again.

LANDO
“I’m sorry you had to hear that,” Lando said, leaning against the handrail and watching Olivia run around the synthetic grass of the paddock. Just like you had been doing for the past ten minutes or so.
“It wasn’t your fault,” you said. “They were the ones who crossed the line.”
“I know, but—”
“No buts,” you said, curling your lips into a smile just in case someone was watching you. “Like I said, it wasn’t your fault. That’s not up for discussion.”
Next to you, Lando sighed. Loudly.
You heard it, you felt it.
His unhappiness with your answer.
So you shifted on your feet, crossed your arms on your chest, and kept your eyes ahead as you said, “You stood up for her. That’s what matters to me. I wish these things didn’t happen at all, but it’s not up to us. We can’t control what others say or do, but we can control how we react to it. And the way you reacted… That’s how I want it to be. So as long as you stand up for her, just like you did today, then you don’t have anything to apologize for.”
For a moment, Lando didn’t talk. Didn’t move. Didn’t react. He just stared ahead, focusing on the little girl that had everyone’s attention as she distributed papaya-unicorn stickers all around. And then, when you thought he would finally speak up, he just coughed and looked away. As if taking a break to organize himself before returning his gaze back to her.
To your daughter.
Yours, and his.
“Should we go inside?” you asked. “Talk inside?”
He shook his head. “She’s having fun… I just… I wanna watch her for a while.”
You nodded, but your heart skipped at that, and you couldn’t help but sigh and take a step closer to him. Unwillingly. Without thinking.
Elbow almost, almost touching his arm.
Lando’s whole body stiffened.
He stretched his legs, straightened his back, and pulled his arms closer to his sides.
And the tiniest gasp left his mouth.
Once again, you couldn’t help yourself—you snorted, bringing your hand to cover your mouth and lowering your chin to look down at your feet.
“What?” he asked, quietly. But you could hear the smile in his voice. The amusement. Growing just like yours.
“Shut up,” you said, muffled behind your hand.
“I didn’t say anything.”
Shaking your head, you held back your laughter and looked up, eyes meeting your oblivious daughter. Happy and full of energy amidst so many strangers.
You dropped your hand back down to cross your arm around your chest, and after a beat, you murmured, “I can already imagine a video going viral…”
You caught the way he nodded.
Neither of you ever facing each other.
But keeping the conversation for only the two of you to hear.
“Lando Norris avoids contact with his girlfriend,” he said.
And then, you cackled. Dropping your head back and laughing to the sky while bringing both hands to cover your mouth.
Next to you, Lando chuckled as well, albeit not as hard. The soft sound making its way to you and adding extra warmth to your already heated cheeks.
He waited until you had calmed down before speaking again, the playfulness hinted in each syllable of each word. “Little do they know… All along, I’m the one who’s been deprived of love.”
“Oh my God,” you grunted and laughed. A mix between disbelief, but also joy. “You’re so dramatic.”
“Dramatic? Please. I’m just a boy… Standing next to a—”
You gasped and turned your body, leaning onto your side so you could face him.
“—a girl… Asking her to hold my hand.”
“Lando…”
“Or give me a hug.”
“You do not get to quote my favorite movie back at me.”
He shook his head, eyes still fixed ahead of him. “Just anything,  really.”
You pressed your lips together and turned back to Olivia, a sigh leaving your chest while you watched her engage in a conversation with some other kids she had met earlier that day.
“You know that’s not how it works.”
Lando, on the other hand, simply smirked to himself.
“What I know is that you won’t love me in public.”
“Because you get way too handsy!” you reminded him. “And you don’t know how to kiss me in public. You always end up going for a full make out session. Why is it so hard to keep it simple?”
“Because it’s you!” he laughed. “Can’t help it if you’re irresistible!”
“Yeah, well…” You shrugged. “If you can’t help it, then we stick to my rules.”
“Fine.”
“No PDA.”
“I know.”
“That’s all.”
“Yep.”
You sighed.
He sighed.
Max and Pietra stepped out of hospitality, both of them stopping to chat with Olivia before she pointed straight at where you were. Lando’s best friend looked at you and nodded with understanding, meanwhile his girlfriend waved and lowered her weight to get Livie’s attention.
You knew, from that on, that Max and Pietra would keep an eye on her. That they would stay around and give you two a chance to take a little break, like they usually did.
“I never thought I could get so mad at someone,” Lando blurted out. So out of nowhere that you needed to blink a couple times to make sense of it. “I’m watching her right now and it’s just… Look at her… She’s the cutest child around here… She’s kind to everyone… Makes everyone laugh… Always has the funniest, most random comments… And she’s so sassy and bold in such an adorable way… She’s just perfect. How can they… I mean how can they even ask something like that? I don’t get it.”
Your heart hammered in your chest, and you found yourself unable to reply.
“I meant what I said, y’know? About being proud of being her dad… I know it’s not on the paper… But I don’t mind that… Like it won’t make me love her any differently… What we have now it’s something I’ve earned, y’know? We’ve built it from scratch… I know you wouldn’t have allowed me to be here if you didn’t mean it… So I just… I can’t imagine my life without you anymore… Both of you. And I hate that they tried to use that against me… Because they knew what they were doing when they asked that… They knew they would touch a nerve…”
The emotions in his voice touched your nerves, your instincts, your need to protect him and stand up for him. And before you knew it, you were already walking. Already stepping away from the handrail, turning to him and closing the distance. Until you were standing in front of him and then close enough to crush your body to his. Wrap your arms around his waist and press your cheek against his chest.
“Whoa…” Lando stumbled the slightest, the handrail keeping him in place as he placed both arms around your shoulders and kept you close. Close. Close. Close. “Hold on with the PDA, love.”
“Shut up,” you mumbled. “Just take it.”
At that, he chuckled. Chin pressed on your temple and arms squeezing you tightly.
“Your favorite words.”
“Lando!”
“What?!”
You pinched his hip, and he flinched.
“Heyyy!” he laughed.
You smiled, cheek all nuzzled onto him while the world kept moving around you. While the public walked up and down the paddock. While curious eyes and intruding cameras watched you.
“I love you,” you said. “And I’m so proud of you. Really. Thank you, for everything you do. For who you are. I can’t imagine our lives without you anymore, too. I don’t want to know what it would be like to go back to a life without you. So again, thank you.”
“Who are you and what—”
“Lando!”
“Ok, ok,” he laughed. “I’m shy, I get nervous…”
“I know, but I had to say it.”
He shifted his arms, his hug getting both gentler and tighter at the same time.
“I love you,” he whispered in your ear. “And I can’t wait to show you how much. But Livie is running up to us right now, so I’ll keep it to myself for now… Just for now.”
“Promise?”
“Promise.”
