Ngl I'm kind of scared of the idea of DINOK actually being made into a show. Do you think it would be profitable or even break even? I can't see it attracting a lot of mainstream attention and Dan's/DnP's core audience is not as big as it once was

i'll repeat myself here and say that it all depends on a platform and marketing. marketing can save dinok. but it can also kill it. like, single-handedly. mainstream attention depends on marketing on different platforms (huge budget). audience's attention depends on Dan talking to us on his platforms, consistently (no budget, just time). i'm sure with dinok Dan would be shooting for people outside the phandom, and that makes sense. it just needs to be done correctly, and not at the cost of his main audience.

my selfish ass wants Dan to make something out of it, just to see what he wants to tell us. the AU he created in his head. but, i don't need a show for that, i'd be happy to just read the script. if making a show costs too much money and is too risky, just sell the script. i don't want it to go to waste. it's a huge amount of work, and it would be sad if it never sees the light of day.

look at wad as an example. now, it's so clear that their initial strategy was experimental and didn't work, so they changed it halfway through. they also kinda dropped the promo by the European leg and just stopped updating banners in time, and overall started panicking. Dan's attitude and the main message in promo materials were all over the place, with him trying to target the general audience and the locals, meanwhile sometimes talking in riddles, and talking to us (phannies) only in liveshows at the start of each leg. and then the European leg didn't even have that. (i'm simplifying here a lot, i'm just trying to show a general picture). dd, despite having a good concept, failed to gain an audience and make people buy tickets to the show. there was a connection between dd and wad but it wasn't strong enough, and the vibes were a bit different, so it was also confusing people. dd t-shirt had a better promo in that one dd episode than the majority of wad promo clips. you know why? because it was genuine. he was whining about money and it was clear that he hated doing that bit but ffs, it was entertaining. Dan is not bad at promotion, he just needs someone to navigate his negative energy in the right direction. 90% of wad marketing was BORING as fuck. and there was not enough of it in general. wrong platforms, no consistency, boring recycled ideas (remember his clip with the US states? they did the same for ii but in a youtube video. which worked so much better not only because it was "Dan and Phil" but also because it was filmed better, the platform was bigger, and they didn't take it seriously. promoting on your main platform always wins over facebook/instagram/tiktok ads. also, we could engage with a youtube video. that's like a free promo within the phandom. geography can be FUN. wad geography wasn't). promotion doesn't have to be boring. Barbenheimer and Miley and Selena's cross-promotions showed it so clearly. fandoms love this shit, and Dan knows enough youtubers to pull this off. even if not cross-promotion tactics, there are ways to present something in a fun way. make something memeable (he tried in the beginning, but a white board wasn't the most fun tbh), make a promo we could engage with.

thank fuck they bought youtube ads for wad premiere. still fucking up with banners and editing though. and Dan still doesn't talk to his audience to make them buy tickets. like, he is trying, they have bullet points (half of them are coming out from Phil's mouth btw). but Dan making "crying" faces and pleading could be turned into "reasons why i want you to see this show". he wants to cry about how hard it was to make this show happen? about these 2 years of ups and downs? FINE. do it, talk to us, don't brush over the logistics, tell us how proud you are of finally filming the show. tell us why it's so important to you and why you want more people to see it. (Anthony's interview as an example, but make it deeper and without Anthony)

don't make me write a marketing strategy for wad premiere, no one wants that. but omg, it's his child and he doesn't know how to present it to the world. he presented dinok better by making "why i quit youtube". what i'm trying to say is that complaining works. sharing your struggles works. if he is so proud of this show he needs to tell his audience, that didn't see the show, what is it so amazing, brilliant, unique, important and wonderful about it. showing Dan on stage with a microphone isn't enough. it's pretty, but it's boring (i'm still waiting for a full promo clip to drop before Feb 25th). preshow and after-party are good selling points, but it shouldn't be the main thing. Dan is using Phil to sell wad, finally. don't get me wrong, i'm obsessed with it. he should use Phil, and only because of Phil more people are gonna see the show. but now it looks like Dan and Phil brand took the lead and wad is just a passenger. and as someone who witnessed all the stages wad went through to get to February 25th, i want the show itself to shine. it should be the main character, not the after-show or the carpet. how? Dan should talk more about things related to the show. he can go around NDAs, it's his show, his company. just don't drop names and certain numbers.

This past weekend was a blur but my exhaustion is worth it.

I splurged and saw the matinee on Sunday and well as the final show.

First, Andrew Kober as Beetlejuice for the matinee. He is AMAZING. It felt like watching the show for the first time again. People have their favorites and fans like us can appreciate the differences all the understudies put into the role, but Kober is the second best Beej. Full stop. He has a fantastic mix of desperation and manic energy, with an underlying menace that, ngl, Alex sort of lost as the show went on.

During the matinee there was audience participation I haven't heard ever happening:

Kober says his line, "All I want is for someone, anyone to look my way and say “Hey."

Couple of audience members say loudly, "Hey!"

Kober continues, "I see you."

More audience, "I see you!"

Kober, "I accept you."

More audience, "I accept you!"

Kober, "And I fear for my safety around you.”

All of the audience, "And I fear for my safety around you!"

Kober, pauses. Then, "Nope. Didn't work."

We, the entire audience, lost.our.minds.

Now. The closing show ...

Fucking hell. I mean that in the best possible way.

Standing ovations from the beginning. For every actor.

It took so long for Alex to even drop the newspaper. He tapped his foot. He leaned back (allllll the way back) to lean on the coffin. He got on the floor. Then, and only then, did he drop the paper to renewed enthusiastic applause.

Every actor played along with their rightfully deserved ovation and applause during their entrances. It was so heartwarming.

I know everyone has seen all the "what happened during the last performance" posts that people are doing, but NO ONE has mentioned these things:

1) at the end of the TBS reprise, Alex ran up the stairs with a clone and started aggressively making out with them as the set changed

2) when Adam stops him from murdering Charles and goes into his "you have groped me, etc" speech, Alex made these increasingly feral, increasingly loud snarling noises like he was getting ready to scrap (. . . or screw)

3) during the Adam and Beej kiss, it went hard. Alex groped David's ass and pretended to dip a finger between his ass cheeks/shove a finger in him, then smelled his finger when David was pulled away. Then he stalked after David for more before Kerry grabbed him.

(I know I am looking at all that though the lens of a smut writer, but hoooo boy.)

Alex Timbers' speech was nice, but not allowing anyone else to say anything?! Fuck whoever made that decision. Alex was actively walking forward for the mic when the curtain stared coming down. He and Elizabeth looked surprised, so they weren’t told about it, obviously, which is unfortunate and understandably upsetting. Here is someone who had been active with the show since 2017 helping to make it what it became plus a new star that embraced (and was embraced by) the fandom, to the point she cracked during the very last word of the show, and they were denied? I'd heard from reliable sources that other cast members had some things prepared as well, and they didn't get the chance to say anything either. It was just abrupt and crushed the energy that had been wild up till then.

This show has meant so much to so many people, including myself. Alex Timbers told us what we already knew: Over a million people saw Beetlejuice on Broadway. That the audience for Beetlejuice was statistically younger than the average for Broadway shows. That Beetlejuice was the first Broadway show for a huge number of audience members. That the fact that fans were so engaged and active that we helped bring it back from the dead. We said his name three times, and Beetlejuice returned for a real send off, one the show deserved, to 1600 adoring Netherlings.

-Is Pigsy seriously understaffed? Like he says he pulls a ‘quadruple shift’ and refers to everyone slacking off, not just MK who we know, ACTUALLY works there, not only that but Mei helps him in the Season 2 special and he’s shown to have no other staff…no wonder he’s a little anxious of the shop going out of business, he literally only has one person working for him and it’s MK!

-Tang also calls Pigsy ‘Piggy’ actually Sandy does too- the only one who doesn’t is MK who calls him ‘Dadsy’

-This is why you don’t play around when someone is working with a giant crane.

-Pigsy is either still traumatized of MK nearly dying in the pilots or this is the writer’s already establishing that MK was adopted by Pigsy.

-‘When I’m finished my father will once more DOMINATE the world’ ok, so what I’m getting at is that he’ll flood the whole country so that MK can’t do shit. Which is fair since the rain seems THAT strong…

The problem is that it's become a habit. Keeping up to date through social media, which means that as much as I try to avoid it, I still have to see things and people against my own will and I'm too far into this thing and in my life in order to pretend that I still want to pay attention and write about it. I mean, lately I've made my position even clearer than it was before because it just doesn't matter at the end of the day. I'm in a speeding train caught on fire and at some point I will have to jump. Because I know what awaits me out there. Instead of reading and debating daily fandom bullshit, I can dedicate more of my time to watching films and pick up my dusty books from the library, knowing that there's no way I can be as disappointed as I feel after 2 hours in bts/fandom spaces. I need that dose in order to remind myself that there are things that bring me joy and I don't have to witness stupid people writing nonsense on twitter.

I also have fun here, with its ups and downs. But there's the risk of becoming repetitive and that's the death of passion. No thank you.

And then there's days like this in which it's fun again, starting with that performance rehearsal and ending it so nicely. I missed it. Like you said, I want to be entertained. That's all. The first time you guys actually cuddle is definitely after doing the deed

If you can manage to keep up and tire him out, he'd be to lazy to shove you from the bed or get up to leave

He turned his back to you, and you being stubborn or just plain cold after he hogged the blanket, spooned against his back

He would never admit the butterflies it gave him when you hesitantly drapped an arm over his waist, but he decided then that maybe cuddling isnt so bad

At first the most you get after that is just him allowing you to lean against him while your standing near eachother or sitting together

After a bit though, he found comfort in draping his arm around your shoulders

(It was totally because someone was hitting on you, but you wouldnt let him shank the creep so he resorted to getting handsy)

If you ask him about it he claims its because your Liu's and someone has to watch you while he's not there.

But he is really so protective and its a comfort to have you under his arm, showing anyone watching that you belong to both of them

Sully also enjoys being a tease and will make you work for cuddles

So he loves doing a half spoon where he lays back comfortably and you cling to his side

He has his arms supporting his head while you bury yourself against his side and just give a cheeky grin to you actually wanting his affection, though he was sure its just because Liu wasnt there to give you any

Has definitely referred to Liu as a simp-

If you fall asleep in that position he might drape an arm over you 👀

But only after he's sure you've fallen asleep.

Once he starts getting more attached and protective of you, he loves having you burried against his chest

Often propping his head in his hand while laying on his side and watching you

He enjoys it when your facing him in this position, but is just as fine if your on your back burried under him or facing away from him with your back against him while reading or playing on your phone

He'll just watch you and whatever your doing, which can get a little creepy considering the unsettling gaze he naturally has

But he also doesnt say anything either- even if you try talking to him he'll just shrug or stare at you till you leave him alone

If he really wants your attention he'll take whatever your doing from your hand and throw it behind him while pulling you to face him.

Also

Dont play with his hair- he is not a soft lover and doesnt want to be perceived as such

The first (and hopefully last) time you tried playing with his hair he snatched your hand and damn near broke your wrist.

So really just dont touch him unless he wants you to or you know hes alright with whatever you do. He has alot of boundaries that he just wont tolerate being crossed

The last few positions he enjoys are after sex

Sometimes he'll just flop down ontop of you and pass out right there, still pressed inside you while he sleeps

Other times he'll roll over with you and have you sleep on his chest

He has a funny way of showing his affection for you, but he does care in his own twisted way-

He may be a hardass but he is your hardass and he does need to be taken care of

With the few things he does allow you to do to him, he really just melts

He is wrapped around your finger too, whether you realize it or not

I mod discord servers and being the token black and neurodivergent person on a team is a nightmare. It's like folks make it their life's ambition to test you. And rarely do the white folk on the team ever got the spine to back you up. If they do, magically everyone listens to them when they were just lighting a fire under your feet for the same thing.

What I'd give to reach through the screen and bust some jaws, but folks will cry bloody murder just over your TONE because you aren't coddling them and their feelings anymore. God, tone police make my blood boil.

The kicker too is people will hide behind their mental health, with no consideration that you might be struggling with shit too, or if they do consider it, they pull "well it's your job and if you can't do it w/o being mentally ill you should step down". Because their mental health issues can excuse them treating others like shit, but your abilities are called into question because you don't go "uwu it's ok just don't do it anymore" when you call them out.

Some folks I swear, if it weren't for how fast things spread on the internet and the fact I'd screenshot that shit in a heartbeat, they'd've called me the n word to my face. /lh

This isn't OM specific btw, this happens in every fandom I've been in and decided to help mod servers for. Honestly at this point, every black person who mods a discord server deserves reparations for the shit they have to put up with.

So um hi, I'm new to this fandom but please hear me out. How about a Tarzan-ish/Tribe DinLuke AU :D

This idea had been pestering me for the past 3 days now but I don't have the time right now to write a whole fanfic but I do have something short written and drawn for it.

SUMMARY:

So Luke, Leai, Han, Chewbacca, Artoo and Threepio went to explore the heart of a huge rain forest (idk what to call it yet) themselves because Leai believes that Gideon's so-called "Expedition" in the said forest is bantha shit and he's actually planning on destroying it. The worst part is that the Senate Council isn't doing anything about it. They're scared for the all of the life forms on that forest so they wanted to take down Gideon by gathering some evidence. When the news about a plane crashing somewhere in the forest took over the internet, they decided to check it out. What they didn't know, however, is that hidden tribes also reside in that forest and they're about to be pulled into something more than they bargained for.

This is my design for Luke. He still wears his iconic Poncho tho but I don't have the time to draw it yet sksksk Grogu finds him very interesting. He knows ALS and that's why he can communicate with Grogu. Din also finds him very interesting ;D

This is what I imagine Grogu would look like 0u0 he's...an escapee of some sort. He may or may not be selectively mute but he's very cautious of other people. He's very much attached to Din though.

He was on the plane that crashed in the forest, not sure how he survived, he just did. Din found him after he and some of his men decided to investigate the crash site. They took him in but Grogu doesn't have a skull mask of his own yet because he hasn't been officially blessed (?) as part of their tribe since he can't tell them his name. Until Luke came in that is hehe

I had a hard time coming up for Din's design but ngl I think he turned out great. The skull is supposed to be a Mythosaur but I didn't remember it's existence after I finished coloring Din :"D Please note that the color may vary from different screen to screen so it may be paler or darker than my original color palette for him >o< 

Din can understand and speak Basic (English) but he doesn't want to because of his anger towards outsiders. He's fiercely protective of Grogu and a jerk to Luke but he started to lighten up after seeing that they're just here to help them take down Gideon. Luke received extra cookies points for helping them get Grogu officially adopted into their tribe. The claws I was talking about on the sketchpad was his weapon/gloves I think.

Without his skull mask, he kinda looks like Lapu-Lapu (a hero here in the Philippines) because I imagine him with long hair or a mullet. I'll try to draw that when I get the time sksksk

ALTERNATIVE DARK HIDDEN TRIBE AU (ART CONCEPT COMING SOON):

The thing is that I don't know if I wan't to stick with this plot, I kinda like the idea of Dark!Din more where he captures the group so they could kill them for...food??? Yup, cannibals but I suck at this kind of trope that's why I usually just reads them. *cough* Hannibal *cough* So yeah, it could be a dark ending where they're killed except for Luke who's forced to be Din's spouse. It doesn't help that Grogu likes him and you know that Din would do anything for his precious son.

BONUS ART (WITHOUT COLOR THO BECAUSE MY FINGER IS KILLING ME):

Grogu is scared of Han for some reason I can't remember 😭 I was writing all of my sleep-deprived ramblings on my sketchpad but yeah, Grogu finds Luke very interesting so he kept following them. They recognized him as one of the missing children on the plane but Grogu was very adamant that he doesn't want to go back. Han suggested that they turn him over for some cash rewards which caused Grogu to cry and for both the Skywalker Twins to smack Han on the back of his head.

It's confrontation time! >:3

So Luke was captured by Boba Fett and was brought to Din since many claims that they saw Grogu with him. The problem is that Grogu was currently with Leia since they all got chased by Gideon's men and they had no choice but to split up. They were after Luke specifically so he gave Grogu to his sister when they split up. Din is furious and he had every right to be so, too bad Luke had to endure his wrath. Luke tries to explain but Din was having none of it and he was about to execute Luke then and there when Grogu comes in to save his ass.

"Grogu wait-!"

Grogu stood in front of Luke with his arms stretched out, "Buir, no!"

Everyone was in stunned silence.

Din was the first one to recover and he easily side-stepped Grogu to point his spear at Luke once more.

"What did you call him?" His voice was so deep and grave that Luke couldn't help shivering from it.

"Answer me."

Luke wetted his lips, "Grogu. That's his name."

"You can understand him." It wasn't even a question.

"Yes."
