he retained some French from when he was little. He’s not good at it in general but is a lot better at understanding it than speaking it. He can eavesdrop on Spy but can’t conjugate être. I also like versions of Scout that speak Spanish when people hc his mom as Latina.

Sniper

one of my all time favorite headcanons is Māori Sniper. Also, if you’ve seen this blog you’ll know i believe he’s an autistic king.

Engineer

I know a lot of people tend to portray him as a tender, kind, empathetic guy but I genuinely don’t think he’s ever felt empathy or genuine compassion in his life. Sure he knows how to act sweet and polite and soft and nonthreatening all the time but no matter how long you’ve known him, if you get in his way he’s already designing a new machine in his head to blow you away into the last century.

Demoman

Objectum Demoman is one of my all-time favorites. For real. I will genuinely ship him with eyelander, idgaf.

Soldier

I really love trans soldier headcanons. His transmasc swag is off the charts. It’s hard to come up with hcs for Soldier because he’s so fucking wild you could put him in any situation and it could be true. Lived in a diving bell for two years? Sure. Favorite food is un-husked kernels of wheat? Absolutely. Replaced his dick with his big toe so he could use it to walk? I could go on.

Heavy

during and after he obtained his phd in Russian literature he published a number of fiction books under a pen name. They’re all tasteful romances with subplots of political intrigue. They gained high critical praise and are still moderately popular in bookstores in Russia and some neighboring countries. all the royalties from sales go to his family. He’s also an autistic king.

Pyro

I don’t have many headcanons for pyro because I like keeping the whole mystery. I don’t wonder what’s under the mask or come up with possible names because I think the whole of the character is that mystery. But I will say that as great as unicorns and rainbows and cupcakes are, there’s really nothing Pyro loves more than hanging out with Engie in his workshop and pretending to help.

Medic

as far as my own headcanons, I have a lot. Here’s some. He does not have a driver’s license—he taught himself to drive by stealing a car. He’s insecure about his voice but he talks too much to really care. He’s always wanted a motorcycle. He puts drugs in his morning coffee. He doesn’t like classical music, he listens to the top 40s on the radio and sings along. The peppier the better.

One of my favorite Medic headcanons I ever heard was that he only has medical training as a veterinarian and I think that’s hilarious because it could absolutely be real.

Spy

He’s smart but he’s not as highly educated as he wants people to think. He never went to a university and maybe never even finished school. Just like Scout, he’s so damn good at what he does that he can afford to be more concerned with appearance and showing off than anything else. They’re both committed to making people see what they want them to see and nothing deeper.

Honestly, I don't know how tptb believe that these strategies are going to work for them. As a viewer, I am hanging on by a thread.

I have come to the conclusion that I am not going to watch anything that purely retcons the mother series, so for me, more shipbait and Caryl being only friends = I leave TWDU as a whole. We even had show writers telling us Caryl is true!!

I adore Melissa and will support any other project she does, but it has been many years of being continually utilized and clowned by this franchise and enough is enough. Any ending that isn't Daryl and Carol together doesn't make sense to me, and a studio that treats me like this as a viewer doesn't deserve me to spend another minute on it, much less my money.

At this point, I will base whether I watch the spinoff or not on the reviews of some people I trust. Depending on what I gather from their reviews, I will stay or leave completely.

Which brings me to ask... Do you know if there will be reviews? With what happened with certain shippers of another spinoff leaking spoilers left and right, I have my doubts.

If there weren't any and we had no way of knowing in advance what to expect, I'm afraid I'll only follow episode spoilers weekly and won't watch anything until the end when I get to know 100% that I won't be disappointed, which for now seems almost impossible.

To think how excited I was with season 3 being filmed in my country... Now I don't think I care that much.

I respect your choice to do what's best for you. To be honest, it all feels really frustrating because Melissa deserves so much better. It's always lovely to see pictures of Melissa on set but I'm not sure why there isn't a robust marketing campaign working to promote the show. Not only is it disrespectful to the leads, but it also gives some people more incentive to bully Carylers.

Some poorly positioned social media posts — that rely on the fans to explain how the ship is romantic — are simply not good enough.

I'm not sure about the reviews. I don't know if you're aware that I run a Caryl podcast called Nine Lives Two Mics with my friend @kryptoniancape. We intend to review TBOC with or without screeners and share our honest take on it.

But it's safe to say the whole show is resting on Melissa's back, which is incredibly sad, considering she isn't getting any official promo.

To me, the future looks concerning, especially if it rests in the hands of a showrunner who has no idea how to write women and has leaned heavily on ship baiting to give a female character any value. Norman and Melissa being EPs is good. But they need a showrunner who actually cares about Caryl, and the current one has given me no reason to trust him. The future of this show needs a showrunner who can deliver not just for Caryl but for the fans who have held on for years in some cases.

It's not just about canon anymore. It's about canon being done right and a vibrant story that Caryl deserve.

I'm really sorry I don't have better news for you, dear anon. I'm not really doing anything for the fandom. I'm just hoping people's voices and concerns are heard.

So is throwing around the degree they were obtaining at 20, acting like it proves how serious and superior they are to all others even though a few years later they are taking delight in instigating fandom drama.

My sister has two degrees and she completely lacks common sense. My husband has a Masters, can build a computer from scratch and code a video game but often struggles with adulting.

My father in law dropped out of high school at age 16 yet managed to work his way up to Vice President of a company in New York City (before his retirement), where he traveled all over the world and ended up having box seats for Super Bowls.

Degrees are wonderful but many times, they don't mean much of anything except for someone's ability to memorize information. And they definitely don't make someone more mature.

And the point you were making about the characters and their colors is valid. They latch on to something so long as it supports their ship while acting like there is no possible meaning behind it if it comes to another.

At the end of the day, the only thing that matters in this fandom is trying to get into the head of SJM by paying attention to her patterns and writing style.

I dislike hellers' mindset for many reasons. I think one of the most irritating ''reasoning'' they have is that they think everything in some way or other is a ''parallel'' to destihell or related to destihell. For example, Big Sky (?) ? It is related to Destiel because Jensen's character has a romantic dynamic with a character and it is somehow a ''parallel'' to destihell despite there being no connection between the two shows or between the two ships in the slightest. Does Jensen appear in the Boys? It is supposed to be some sort of a nod to Dean's sexuality because Soldier Boy is (supposedly) LGBT. The Prequel? For sure JohnXMary romance feast is supposed to be related to and a parallel to destihell and John's sexuality is also 'implied' to be non-straight, so that is also a parallel to Dean's sexuality through John's implied sexuality. Jensen's song and album? Related to destihell, castiel, or even to Cockles and a nod to the Hellers.

Like, I normally would not care about such things, fans can be delusional and have fun however they want. However, this sort of reasoning is just not exactly 'fun', when it involves willfully being delusional and believing in things that do not exist. Now, I am not a fan of Jensen that much, but I think this sort of reasoning Hellers have kinda comes off as disrespectful to Jensen. It is also toxic in many ways because we've all seen how Hellers can act when Jensen does or says something they do not like. They called/call him a homophobe, they attack him verbally or insult him, target him in some ways. I also think that saying everything Jensen does is about destihell is just reducing Jensen's actions and talent and job to all destihell and ship lenses. And it kinda comes off as annoying. There has to be a difference between having fun in fandom circles and attacking people / being toxic to the actors. Hellers cannot differentiate both.

It's just ... not remotely how parallels work. Like, at all.

They start from the supposition literally everything is proof of bi!Dean and/or their ship, someway somehow, and then come up with these absurd supposed parallels to "prove" it. It's very obvious from the outside that it's just about a personal obsession when they will insist literally anything is a quote unquote parallel validating what they already decided to believe. Even before you get into all the ways that their "parallels" either aren't things actually happening in the story, don't genuinely match up to each other at all if you look at the context, or are so pathetically surface level as to be utterly meaningless.

And yeah, it is disrespectful and insulting to Jensen - they really do tend to treat him as a blow up doll who should just do what they want and otherwise STFU. It's also disparaging towards all of the other people putting years of work into SPN and the other media being co-opted to pretend the most important thing about them existing is to send super sneakret signals about D/C being totes real. Even worse to insist those people and productions must be part of an evil homophobe conspiracy if they dare indicate otherwise. It's bizarre and creepy and honestly genuinely concerning in terms of their mental state they're at a level of obsession they can't realize that not only is it not true anything everything Jensen does is about their ship, but the whole rest of the world doesn't revolve around it either. ♡ falling in love i think is subjective, she's quite enamoured with the idea of love && does crave it. yet she is demiromantic more often than not in all honesty. she has to connect with someone in a deeper way to actually form the attachments where love is concerned, otherwise it isn't something that could really be called love. it's why she's had many exes && none that quite stuck in her younger years before her change && she tended to end up in that vicious cycle of returning to exes because it's both what she knew was available && what she genuinely thinks she's deserving of && why she has a weakness to being whisked right back to any exes she may have no matter how they treated her because it's something knowable at least.

she is much easier to fall into feelings of lust && her initial thoughts on ( mostly ) anyone who shows any inclinations of romantic affections her way is that it is simply lust on their part as well, due to several insecurities on her part but especially where she believes she is simply only wanted for her body && not her soul or entirety. shallow attachments are just easier to begin but she wouldn't call those kinds of attachments love or that she is in love. she can also be quite oblivious, being the type that if someone takes her on a date && is not blunt with their intentions she simply takes it as a friendly outing instead. she can, however, form crushes at times yet often she doesn't know they are crushes, she just lavishes with love where she believes she just feels comfortable && close to someone.

it takes a bit for her, actually, to realise she may actually be in love with someone && she does not recognise it often right away, she generally has that moment of 'oh...fuck...i love this person' that crashes into her so suddenly && knocks the breath out of her && incapacitates her, then she is entirely theirs && gives them every piece of her she can. && then incomes her insecurities until it's made known her feelings are returned in some way.

♡ aphrodite is less harsh about love especially where insecurities are concerned but she's also genuinely extremely vein && confident where j'isu's vanity && confidence is entirely a facade she uses to hide everything she's insecure about. she is very confident in assuming everyone is some level of enamoured with her, the opposite of j'isu. aphrodite also is completely enamoured with the idea of love as an entire concept in all forms. she craves it fully but is still also demiromantic because she needs to know someone deeply before or have a bonding moment for her to realise it is love in its truest form. she is, however, much easier than j'isu to fall for others && form little crushes, whether she acts on them or not is another story. she is not immune to grand displays in her honour being a catalyst for intense feelings on her behalf though, as she is very quick to feel something to someone who can show her these sort of gestures, i.e. stepping in && saving her etc. she really does love grand gestures much more than j'isu does but both have a weakness to someone caring so deeply about them they'd be willing to step in harms way or give parts of themselves in other ways they are just both incredibly weak to it for different reasons.

aphrodite does, however, end up putting her love of love more into other peoples' lives as well, tending to matchmake the people around her whether they like it or not && she just loves being a nuisance && getting involved in peoples' love lives && listening to silly gossip. she's one to make it quite known as well if she's in a relationship she isn't invested in or the love is not there if put into an arrangement, though j'isu on the other hand would simply hide her distaste && attempt to make it work. both are much more open && willing toward lustful relationships especially to start, since it IS easier for both of them. yet both, however, also do not feel as much in those type of relationships especially where sexual situations are concerned, because they both still feel more from deeper connections in general. && aphrodite has a bad tendency for apathy for people she just Does Not care about or like;; j'isu is more polite but also had that bad tendency toward apathy when she was young before she started her path to change.

♡ in a way, it's little pieces of all of them. though at the forefront in a strong degree is physical touch, quality time && gift giving.

when she loves someone whether romantic or platonic, she tends to become physically closer to them, offering soothing in the form of hugs or gentle pats on their head, warmth where there may be none that could heal even just a little. it's even in tiny subtle things like a hand on their forearm, leaning against them softly, simply being in their personal bubble. && spending time with those she cares for is a very big must for her, she can't help herself from trying to make sure they feel needed && important && also rather enjoys speaking it to them aloud, lavishing those she loves with praise && reminding them how loved && wonderful they are whenever she is able.

&& if you are close to her, you are certainly not safe from receiving handmade gifts, flowers from her own garden, little trinkets or items she finds along her journeys that reminds her of you or she thinks you may find useful, etc. she thinks quite a bit about the people she loves, especially those she has deep romantic bonds to, they are quite always on her mind in this case && she does tend to show that in little ways.

she tends to give quite a lot of attention && love when she is in a relationship as well && perhaps it's just her giving out the love she has always craved for herself in a way.

♡ aphrodite has the same love languages, in my eyes she felt so strongly about love that it absolutely was written into her soul && extended to every shard of hers that it could possibly render itself on. love in all forms, love for the star, love for her people, love for herself && her loved ones. so j'isu exhibits similar gestures as aphrodite would && a similar warmth && passion in displaying them as well. they both simply want everyone they care for to know they are extremely loved && safe && cared for no matter what.

I would like to stress that I don't care who anyone ships. It's a show and people are allowed their opinions. The second that anyone starts spreading hate, I lose all respect for that person. (talking about characters here, I keep away from the cast... i have learnt that disappointment one too many times.)

my personal opinion is that Tevan is okay for now because Buck deserves to have someone he trusts to explore his sexuality with but I am very confident in Buddie endgame. I also like Buck and Taylor, Buck/Ali, and Buck/Natalia - I genuinely think they were some positive matches for him but I still wanted Buddie endgame.

Liking another ship for a person doesn't mean I'm abandoning the ship, I'm still reading and writing Buddie fics and liking Buddie edits. I just also happen to read Tevan and BuckTaylor fics.

Media is meant to be interpreted in different ways, if you saw HenRen and thought, "Oh they hate Tommy", that's fine. If you saw the deleted scene and thought, "oh Tommy is so fun", that's also fine. I don't care!

I have seen a crazy amount of toxicity on both sides. With Buddie stans, I have seen such an insane amount of posts about Tommy which is crazy because they hate him but he's all they post about.

Tevan stans are also calling buddie fans delusional and getting out everything they don't like about Eddie through nasty comments and then defending some of his problematic actions.

Both are being so incredibly harmful and toxic, they are both as bad as each other, flooding comment sections with their intense opinions. I don't even care about Tommy that much but people keep spreading misinformation about him which I have to correct and people think I'm obsessed with him.

I understand why people don't like Tommy, and I understand why they do. I don't have the time and energy to join in on a shipping war - it's honestly embarrassing for everyone involved. I mean, one of the tiktokers I used to like is now only posting anti-Tommy stuff. At first it was fine, and then it became very toxic and CONSTANT. Like, they started guessing that Tommy would encourage Buck's ED all because he mentioned ketosis? in the same episode that Buck told Ravi; "You don't have to eat everything at a buffet"? please, acknowledge that every character has flaws, even your faves.

I think my whole thing with Tommy is that people don't genuinely believe he could've changed in the 8(?) years he's been gone from the 118, and that makes me feel really hopeless. But on the other hand, I understand why people still keep this opinion of him, it's not an easy past to dismiss. I could go back and forth about this topic, I'll use Trisha Paytas as an example if I had too, but I tend to follow the way Chimney and Hen react to him and so far, not really any issue with his past (just a shovel talk for Buck).

I love that media is up for interpretation, truly I do, but using it to hate on other people with a different opinion? that's messed up. my tbr is basically just any fic that i’ve seen someone like so it’s extensive and spans many ships and tropes so there’s something for any mood i happen to be in. i mark things for later on ao3 and it’s about 5/6 pages of fics… i can’t remember many off the top of my head but i want to read everything that eyra has ever written because i loved ‘a brief history of dragons’ so much and i’ve been putting off reading choices for forever but i’ll eventually get round to that. and of course black mass, i started it before exams but then i stopped so i’m going to go back and start it again.

good things recently… one of my friends, who i’m not particularly close to, bought me flowers for my birthday a few months ago after a conversation we had about how people don’t give flowers to each other enough, especially between friends. it was her birthday a few days ago and so i bought her some beautiful flowers and she was so happy with them. it feels so innocent and intimate to give flowers, i love it and i definitely will be doing it more often and without reason.

a lovely thing about my life at the moment is my friendship group. for a long time i’ve felt out of place with other people or not settled but now i feel so safe and comfortable with my close friends. it’s like i’ve suddenly matured and found my place. there are no arguments and no tension and it’s nice to relax into a group that is calm and loving and still exciting. i’ve finally got to the point where i’d have them over to my house just to do nothing with them and that’s saying something because i think domesticity is the highest form of flattery.

i’m looking forward to many things. i’m going to see a performance of the great gatsby tomorrow, i’m going to a harry styles show on friday, next wednesday i’m going to the bfi premier of asteroid city, the new wes anderson film and then next friday i’m going to a music festival, which i can’t wait for! after that it’s about a week or so until me and my best friend leave for our month long holiday through france and italy which i still can’t believe is happening!

i like your answers, especially in regards to giving flowers to friends. i’ve been thinking a lot about flowers, lately, both as gifts & as a symbol of finding love within grief. that’s a tad melancholic, but i think flowers are so beautiful as a sign of love (to anyone) because they imply a sort of commitment. a flower is going to wilt, so are you going to be there to replace it? rhetorical question. but anyway it makes me think of something john green likes to say about how love is not a feeling, but a choice we make again & again (loosely paraphrased!)

i’m in est! same timezone as nyc. i’m pretty close to cst though. i feel a conflicting sense of loyalty to each timezone. i hope that tells you something about how bonkers i am in personifying things that have no business being that personified. but yeah it’s currently 3:30 am here. (4 now)

i don’t know if i have a favorite picture on my phone? there are a lot that represent really important memories, so it’s hard to choose a favorite. everything means so much to me in the moment. so i have a lot of favorites, but i’ll tell you about one. it’s a somewhat blurry selfie of me & my best friend sitting at a restaurant in savannah, georgia. i like that picture so much because that was one of the best nights of my life - and the best trips tbh, so iconic - and to me it represents a lot of things that bring me joy. (that friend is like the only person who reads these posts, so hello to her <3!!)

everything i do is done in an effort to express love. all of it. one thing that i find underrated is giving someone your time. what says ‘i love you’ more clearly than choosing to spend the day with someone? & what spells indifference more clearly than not making time for someone?

For the love of god, stop.

I don't want to address you or even engage with you but here we are for the millionth time to talk again about how you handle topics of SA.

Stop using Gwyn's SA as a gaslighting tool.

Stop diminishing her personality and making her SA her sole identity.

Your performative concern about her SA survivor status would've been convincing if not for the many times SA survivors themselves called you out on your harmful takes and the hurtful posts you continue to reblog and support.

You look at everything with shipping lenses, there is nothing you do that is not related to your ship so it's hard to be convinced that your concern is genuine when often times it's not. Gwyn is a threat and her SA is a way for you to weaponize something to guilt-trip others and to even diminish her character and journey so far.

You limit her healing and claim as long as she is under the library that's where she belongs when healing is not linear and SA survivors can always take a step after step to reach where they want.

The thing is you simply don't want her to move on and don't think she is capable of doing so because she is a SA survivor. That reflects on how you may think about all those that went through such trauma, that they are beyond healing or will need at least a decade to actually heal when that's not true and healing journeys differ from others.

Just as Gwyn said, she is sick of staying in the library and wants to leave it someday. That wish is there and has been stated. That is something we are excited to see because it's what she wants.

You are purposely trying to shame others for shipping something by creating a false narrative that disguises your contempt as concern about a character who is a SA survivor.

Most of your morality posts are just as offensive because it's pushing this concept that being assaulted breaks you beyond healing.

This isn't about fictional characters, it's about the lot of you weaponizing something so personal and triggering for many to try and shame people into being in favor of what you like and support.

It's beyond pathological.

If you noticed, I did not generalize that all Elr*els do this since they are also real people with their own experiences. Some of them could even be SA survivors themselves. This is directed specifically at the people that are vocal about these harmful takes. I am not typing this for the sake of the ship war, this is about having some empathy and consideration when talking about such topics.

If you believe you lack having even an ounce of empathy, then don't speak on matters of SA survivors and trigger many people over a ridiculous ship war.

Also, her status as a SA survivor does not mean she can't be criticized or disliked as a character, that's the point of not making her trauma her entire identity. Saying it's problematic to present her as a manipulative and luring evil being is not using her trauma as a shield to protect her from criticism, it's simply the fact that it's insinuating someone who was once a victim that were violated against their will is also luring others against their will. That is what's problematic.

This is not about the fucking shipwar, just be mindful of your own words which often times you're not. People don't have to disclose their own experiences to make a point and convince you on how hurtful and upsetting it is.

Ship Elr*el all you want but be mindful about these topics as a reminder for the millionth time.

What is your favourite thing about Olicity? (Random ask I know and I’m sorry but I just got hit with major feels when it comes to them)

Hi! Well, what drew me to them at first is their chemistry. It's undeniable, despite the fact that the narrative was forcing a lot of other relationships in my face, like I just couldn't overlook it and I kept hoping for little moments between them.

A lot of what I like about them are traits that I find in a lot of my other ships. The first being that Oliver is just this... deeply intense, dark, mysterious and at times, scary dude, and yet he yields to her so effortlessly. The fact that he doesn't intimidate her like he intimidates others. I know at first she was a bit shy around him but I think it more so had to do with her working for his company and him being this like, almost mythic and celebrity figure. After she works through that (fairly quickly, I will say) she stands up to him and he actually listens. She brings out this softness in him that no one else can.

I just love the fact that she represents his light and that he believes in goodness because he sees it in her. I love how he values her intelligence and input. I love that he trusts her. Like, he just shows up in her car, bleeding out, and reveals that he is "The Hood," but he never doubts that she will keep his secret. Even when Diggle has concerns about her because she said she wants nothing to do with his crusade, he says he knows he can trust her. So, I love that there's this deep respect and trust very early on, and how it slowly grows over the years.

From Felicity's side, I love that she always believes in him and believes there is good in him. Even when he tells her he's a monster, she can see his heart and she knows that even if he's wrong or misguided, that deep down he is someone worth fighting for. There's so many times when the team doubts Oliver, and regardless if she thinks her feelings are unrequited, or if they're together or not, she believes he will come through. I think she is an awe of his physical and emotional strength, and I think she just wholeheartedly believes in him. It's just so lovely to see two people accepting each other unconditionally.

Of course, they have their issues and they stumble at times. But something that forever remains constant is the love they have for each other. They're also just so enjoyable to watch onscreen. Their relationship feels genuine.

tldr: Chemistry + the trust and respect they have for each other!

I know almost every single person in the OFMD fandom is interpreting Izzy a little bit different. Aka we're all spotting different amounts of, or focusing differently on, these traits:

Being a literal homophobe and racist

In love with Ed and jealous

Just trying to do his fucking job seriously and no one is helping

Sexually frustrated bc he's been trying to get topped by Ed for years

Obsessed with having total control over everyone around him

Mad/Worried about Ed suddenly changing in a way he doesn't understand

etc.

I was already pretty firmly in the "Izzy is overall a bad person but also he's seems to be a lil in love with his boss in a way that's entertaining" camp, But as I'm rewatching it - I think I'm going further into "Izzy is just a bad person who's obsessed with control".

A little point of this, is when Ed tells him to go to the Republic of Pirates and bring Stede in so he can meet him, and he starts saying no. Izzy sighs and asks Edward if they could "just send the boys" to do it. Idk fam, but if Izzy was super in love with Edward, why not do the stuff he tells you to do? Even if it's a little inconvenient, you might follow command without hesitation to prove how good you are and do the job well to earn praise. But no, he tries to push back on the orders, and tries to change Edward's mind on how to do things. But he doesn't push too far; to stay in control, Edward can't doubt him.

But the main part that convinced me, is because I'm remembering that he was totally fine with Edward literally abandoning the pirate life, as long as he killed Stede to do it and left his legacy and his crew to Izzy. That doesn't really seem like a thing someone who's in love with his captain would be cool with. He's also not super effected when Ed seems genuinely interested in the idea of killing himself because he's so bored. That's something you should be concerned about if you love someone.

Those are things you might be less distraught by if your primary focus is just amassing power.

He definitely could've convinced himself that he had a right to Edward, that he was the only one who knew what was good for him, that Izzy Hands deserved to tell Edward what to do. So when Edward starts rebelling, it makes him furious. Here he is, having spent so many years of his life dedicated to proving to Edward that he was to be listened to, and now Edward won't listen. He's going off and making friends with people who are telling him not to follow Izzy's rules, he's not making good on his promise to step down and pass the throne to Izzy, and Izzy's being disrespected by the other people on the ship.

The only control he (sort of) has left is over Ivan and Fang, so when he decided to try and scare Edward back into following his orders, he pulls the two of them to his side and has an intervention so they can not only accuse him of being weak, but guilt trip him as well. And it still doesn't work.

So obviously he's lost his emotional hold on Edward, so he'll just have to physically take it back, enter the plan to defeat Stede in combat so he'll have to be respected and followed again. And then that doesn't work.

So he sends Calico Jack, someone Edward has known even longer than him, to ease him back into Izzy's open arms. That doesn't work.

Even when they are about to watch Stede be killed by the British Navy, even then Edward jumps in the way and calls for an act of grace...

He completely lost control of Edward.

He thought he'd be able to get it back when he proved that he knew better and was better than Stede Bonnet, but that didn't matter to Ed. Ed leaves to join the King's forces for 10 years, and there's no sloppy emotions about it, and idk about you, but if the guy I was in love with was abandoning every part of him I recognized for someone I thought was unworthy and I believed I may not see him for 10 years, or ever again: I'd be a mess, despite my best efforts. But Izzy's not, because Izzy never really cared about Edward, he cared about being in charge. And when Edward and Stede leave, he's left in charge. But he does a pretty shit job of it. And when the crew is about to kill him and retake their control, Edward returns, and spares him. That's his in.

Edward was emotional, alone, soft, and hurt now, Izzy would be able to regain control here. Easily. All he needed to do was rial him up, scare him just enough that he closes off again. Goes back to being the dutiful Blackbeard who does the job and doesn't waste time with all the emotional stuff. And when they're alone again Izzy is able to string him to follow orders easily. When you've been manipulating someone for years, and they finally lost the things they we using to escape, it's second nature to do what'll bring them back to heel.

Even when Ed hears the crew who loves him calling for him to come back on deck for fun, he's alone in those captain quarters mulling over what Izzy said to him.

And yeah, Izzy is prolly hot for the power Blackbeard has, but I don't think it's really anything close to love, it's an attraction to this force he's sure he has command over.

P.s. Shout out to this post by @bellasmommyissues: I started this draft over a week ago and wasn't really sure if I was going to finish it, especially since it's a sorta unpopular take... But I saw their post and it convinced me I wasn't crazy for seeing more of Izzy's love of control vs love of Blackbeard, so I sat down and finished the damn thing.

my thoughts on The Grisha Trilogy/Ships. (Spoilers!)

I just finished reading The Grisha Trilogy and I’m still so confused on why Twitter was trying so hard to convince every one new to the fandom that Mal was "toxic" as a way to justify shipping Darkl!na and hating that Malina was endgame. 

There’s a huge difference here.

Darkling was an adult — a 500 year old acient being that was manipulating and abusing a 17 years old girl (and did multiple times with other teenagers). 

Mal was an annoying 17 years old conflicted over his feelings for Alina. — and I dare to say that people were exaggerating over him in the books, they made me believe he was actually terrible when he isn’t  — he is normal.

The fact that so many of that shipping side use Mal's careless attitude as a even comparative point to Darkling is very concerning and I blame pop culture for make us romanticize villains so much to the point some don’t even draw the actual line between what can actually be hurtful. 

With that being said, I enjoyed the books overall, and I can see the appealing to Darkl!na because it’s a interesting dynamic  — but incredible toxic and based on things you shouldn’t aspire to have - manipulation, opression and possession being some of them. It was clear to me reading the books that he wanted her for her power and as long as she fulfilled [his agenda], so it’s so weird to me how this ship is so romanticized, but i am not surprised either.

There’s nothing wrong with liking and shipping a problematic ship as long as you are aware is problematic  —  the people that genuine believe Alina should've ended with him are concerning. There was not doubt in my mind her romantic endgame was and should’ve been with Mal.

About Malina, I enjoyed their journey  ─ they obviously have the soulmates material. I loved the internal monologue when thinking about each other. And when some actions made by Mal made me angry I think the thing about Mal is that he is a very human character, which is probably why so many don’t like him.  —  he doesn’t have a fantasy appeal, he is as human as they come and with that, his mistakes. Mistakes that he grows out from eventually.

It was also very clear to me that both Mal and Darkling represent two sides of Alina. The human and the power. And by choosing to be with Mal at the end  ─ she chose herself.  Many people were mad about Mal telling Alina that the powers were changing her  —  but they were, and it’s very clear in the books.

So many people also use the whole ‘she wanted to travel, not settle down on a farm' as to say Alina gave up her dreams to be with Mal and with that her agency, and is a weird take considering Darkling was literally slaving her and using her powers for its advantage [without her consent], willing to kill her loved ones to keep that power  —  and at the end she defies him with those powers and decides to live a peaceful, ordinary life [for herself].

There’s more to Alina than her powers.

Alina deserves to have a peaceful love. She deserves a love were she doesn’t have to constantly be questioning her value. She doesn’t deserve to have a love focused on chaos and a power dynamic were the prize is her powers. And the books (and the show) gives you a lot of symbolism about that (the constant Malina hand holding vs the way Darkl!ng grips her wrists).

Alina didn’t settle for less  —  she settle for the man that knows her best, loves her for herself and for a life that will give her peace, specially stability. As the book said: “an ordinary life”. 

And lord, I feel like so many people that genuine think Darkl!na deserved the endgame in any shape or form read those books as teenagers because me as an adult, can see the whole point the writer has been trying to make, and the difference in perspective is huge.

Qui-Gon descended the ramp of his ship with something less than his usual grace, his expression was rather sour. Other than that, he looked his usual self, untidy but comfortable and serene.

He waved to the attendant heading towards the ship, and bowed to a small mechanic droid that squeaked with excitement, ran in circles around him, and then darted off after the attendant.

Qui-Gon chuckled. He paused to take a deep breath, tasting the metallic scent of Coruscant on the air, but also the warm and familiar notes of the Temple, of home. It was good to be back. Tedious diplomatic assignments that ran well overtime were nothing worth dwelling on, especially when it was done alone.

“Master Jinn!” a warm voice called.

He turned his head and saw Shaak Ti walking towards him, a smile on her lovely face with its striking colors.

“Knight Ti,” he greeted her. “How are you?”

“I’m well,” she answered. “I’m just about to depart to Alderaan; it’s a royal wedding and I’m the token Jedi invitee,” she informed him, but there was no offense in her voice. Alderaan was well known to be genuinely welcoming, and had been more than courteous in their dealings with the Order for centuries on end.

“Enjoy it,” Qui-Gon advised her. “Weddings are rarely something you’d like to miss.”

“I will,” she promised. “Oh, is your Padawan around? I was hoping to catch him when he returned, he forgot to sign off on his departure notice and was scheduled for three shifts in the crèche, which he obviously missed.”

Qui-Gon’s head tilted to one side, and he frowned.

It was obvious that Shaak Ti believed that Obi-Wan had accompanied him on his mission, which had in fact been a solo assignment. The twenty-one-year-old Padawan had remained behind for class rotations.

And Obi-Wan had never missed... well, anything. He was notoriously early for everything, beyond punctual. It was almost annoying.

Perhaps he’d finally slipped into a belated teenage fit of laziness, or he’d fallen so behind on class work that he’d forgotten about the crèche. Both would be extremely out of character, but one instance of this in nearly nine years of training could perhaps be excused.

Shaak Ti was waiting for an answer.

“I’ll talk to him,” he promised, revealing nothing. “Thank you for letting me know. I had no idea.”

She waved it off. “These things happen. You have a good student on your hands; he’s easily forgiven.”

Qui-Gon smiled.

The door to their quarters opened for him with a casual wave of the hand. Jedi did not lock their doors often; privacy was an understood thing, something not casually breached. No Jedi would enter another’s rooms without first asking permission.

He wasn’t sure what he expected.

He was not expecting to find Obi-Wan huddled in the corner of their kitchenette, half-hidden in his cloak, knees drawn up under his chin, crying.

Qui-Gon stared.

The entire scene was so unexpected, so wrong, that for a full five seconds he simply stood there, unable to process it. Obi-Wan had buried his face in his knees and was attempting to stifle his tears, seemingly by holding his breath, which was only making him shake harder.

Qui-Gon jolted out of his paralysis and stepped nearer, dropping onto one knee, sensing that looming over his Padawan was not going to help.

“Padawan?” he asked cautiously.

Obi-Wan looked up reluctantly. His face was a sickly grey; his cheeks were bright red and his blue eyes were feverish. They darted around, seeming to fix on nothing.

“Obi-Wan,” the Master tried again, warily reaching out a hand and resting it on top of one of Obi-Wan’s, clenched around his knee.

Obi-Wan took a rattling breath, more tears spilling down his cheeks. “...What... day is it...?” he gasped.

Qui-Gon’s chest tightened with something close to terror. What in all the galaxy was going on here?

“It’s the 29th,” he said gently. “Taungsday. I returned a day late from my solo mission. Do you remember that?”

Obi-Wan’s tears had increased throughout the brief speech. “Y-yes.”

“All right,” said Qui-Gon, struggling to remain as calm and patient as possible. “All right. Can you tell me what’s wrong? Are you hurt?”

Obi-Wan shook his head, his expression crumbling. Suddenly he very much resembled the boy Qui-Gon had met on Bandomeer, uncertain and frightened, although even then he had not cried. This was different.

“Are you sure?” Qui-Gon pressed.

Obi-Wan nodded, strangling a loud sob by clapping one hand over his mouth. He said something, but of course it was impossible to understand behind his clamped fingers.

“What?” asked his Master.

“...so...stupid,” Obi-Wan burst out angrily through his tears. “I just... don’t feel well.”

“Don’t feel well?” Qui-Gon stared at his apprentice in confusion. “You’re sick? Obi-Wan, why didn’t you just go to the Halls?”

Obi-Wan shuddered. More tears slid down over his flushed cheeks. “I...I...I fell,” he said, sounding deeply uncertain. “I was working, and it was late, and I fell. I think I fell. I can’t walk. I can barely move. I don’t know how long it’s been—”

Qui-Gon was already moving, alarm ringing in his head like sirens. In two seconds he had Obi-Wan in his arms, cradled like a child, his head resting under Qui-Gon’s chin.

“You shouldn’t be this easy to carry,” he said tensely. “You haven’t had anything to eat or drink since you fell?”

“Some... some water,” Obi-Wan murmured. His skin was blazing hot against Qui-Gon’s, a sick and feverish heat. He had stopped crying — his tears seemed to have stemmed from a combination of confusion and shame, not pain — but he seemed on the verge of passing out. “I... I got some water... don’t remember when...”

“Stay awake,” Qui-Gon ordered. He was striding down the hallways, ignoring the few bystanders who watched them pass with bewilderment and concern. He did send a grateful nod to one young woman who raised her comm in her hand at him, asking a silent question, and at his gesture raised it to her lips and murmured ‘Tell the Healers that Master Jinn is bringing in his Padawan. Have someone ready.’

Obi-Wan murmured something vague.

“Stay awake,” insisted Qui-Gon. “Don’t fall asleep.”

Obi-Wan moaned but nodded, forcing his eyes to stay open. “I...I’m sorry.”

“You don’t need to apologize.” The words came out harsh and insincere in Qui-Gon’s urgency, and he realized it, because he dropped a swift kiss to the top of the fevered head in apology. Obi-Wan relaxed ever so slightly.

They arrived in the Halls of Healing and were immediately received by a Healer and his apprentice, who had Obi-Wan safely tucked in a bed and monitored in less than two minutes. Obi-Wan had closed his eyes against the bright light and seemed in danger of falling asleep again.

“Stay awake just a little longer, Padawan Kenobi,” the Healer instructed kindly. “I’m fairly sure of your diagnosis but I have to be more certain before I can administer treatment. Then you can sleep.”

“Yes, Healer,” rasped the young man.

Qui-Gon watched from the wall, his hands tucked deep in his sleeves to hide how they trembled. The shock of the last quarter hour was setting in, and he scrambled to keep his wits about him, worried about what this diagnosis might be. He still remembered Obi-Wan’s confusion about the day, his bewildered tears, and that memory was not going to be going away anytime soon.

He had been far too light in his arms.

Just how long had Obi-Wan been trapped in their rooms, unable to call for help and too confused to figure out a way around that? How long had he gone without eating and sleeping?

He found out.

An hour later, Obi-Wan was fast asleep, hooked up to an IV and blissfully pain-free due to a dose of pills he had managed to swallow. The Healer turned to Qui-Gon with a weary smile.

“You’re all right?” he asked.

“I’m fine. I’ve just returned from a mission, but I wasn’t hurt.”

“That’s good to know. I was asking about shock, however,” the Healer said gently. “I know this can’t have been a pleasant homecoming.”

Qui-Gon’s throat tightened, but he said nothing.

The Healer seemed to understand. “Obi-Wan has contracted a strain of the flu,” he explained, moving past the brief surge of emotion. “As you know, most strains of the flu are easily combated these days and many species have evolved or inoculated to the point where it’s hardly a concern. But sometimes the flu is stronger. In this case, it’s clear that it’s job was made easy. I don’t think Padawan Kenobi was eating or sleeping properly before the sickness began to set in. It would explain the severity of his malnutrition, and his confusion.”

Qui-Gon’s eyes flickered to the bed where Obi-Wan was sleeping, the fever still burning in his cheeks.

“...How long?” he asked.

“A few days at most,” the Healer said. “But I suspect it’s a habit that’s related to stress and overwork. Does Obi-Wan struggle with stress or insomnia?”

The Master hesitated a moment, opening his mouth to deny it, and then stopping to think better of it.

“...Maybe,” he admitted. The hesitation stung. Shouldn’t he know? “He’s very private with his habits when we’re in Temple. He prefers to study alone in his room, and we usually only manage to share one meal a day during his busier semesters, if that.”

The Healer nodded. He didn’t look or sound at all accusatory when he said, “That’s understandable. I’m going to suggest keeping a closer eye on that. Don’t force him out of his comfort zone, at least not right away, but make sure he understands that three square meals — or better yet, a light meal or snack every two or three hours — is expected of him. As is sleep.”

Qui-Gon nodded, his throat tightening again to the point of pain.

“Rest easy, Master Jinn,” said the Healer, briefly laying a supportive hand on the taller Jedi’s shoulder. “He’ll pull through this. The illness, and everything else. I believe it’s nothing more than a bad habit formed from good intentions. There are crueler demons out there.”

“Yes, I know,” said Qui-Gon. And he did know. One didn’t reach Jedi Mastery without learning the galaxy for what it was.

But he didn’t think he would ever quite move past the shock of today, of carrying his adult apprentice in his arms, sick to the point of tears and helplessness, and then discovering that he could possibly have prevented this if he had paid a little more attention to Obi-Wan’s work habits.

Well. They would, as the Healer said, overcome this.

Qui-Gon drew up a chair to the side of the bed, resolving to wait until Obi-Wan woke, and slowly reached out and set his hand next to his Padawan’s. After a moment, Obi-Wan stirred, and even in his sleep he gave a contented sigh and shifted his hand, his fingers searching blindly for his Master’s hand. Qui-Gon took it and held it tightly.

They had overcome so many things in nearly a decade together.

They could handle this.

And besides, Qui-Gon told himself, even after Obi-Wan was Knighted, he would always be here to watch his back.

He would never abandon Obi-Wan.

I just want to say I enjoy your blog overall. I've been into kpop since the 90's and pre-interner Era lol So watching it grow over social media has been crazy. Anyway, point is I've been into shipping (both jrock/kpop) for a very long time and as a teenager I fell into it deeply for a year or two that I believed ships were real. All my ships then are not haha so I grew and now don't really ship for those purposes or believe them especially in my 30's. I just enjoy chemistry between people for what it is, be it platonic or not I don't assume and don't care, but I just wanted to say it's refreshing to see non-pushy shippers. So thanks for being mature about it all. It's very hard to find ship blogs that don't over analyze or bully--which again, for my age range can be tiring to see and deal with. Honestly I relate to a lot of what you’ve said here.  I’m 30 and even though I’ve only gotten into kpop recently, I was big into bandom as a teenager and very much engaged in the shipping side of things.  I’m sure there were people who thought their ships were real back in the day, but at least where I was engaging in it, I felt like we all knew it was just for fun, not something that was really happening.  So when I first started getting into BTS, I knew that shipping was part of the fandom, but it genuinely really surprised me when I found out how seriously people take it, and how many people believe the relationships are really happening.

I never had any intention of seeing it that way.  I originally looked into the ships people were interested in just so I’d have a sense of which pairings within the groups had chemistry to watch out for.  It just sort of ended up working out that once I started paying attention, I did see something that seems genuinely different to me with Taehyung and Jungkook.

Anyway, where this blog is concerned, I think of it as sort of an aquarium.  We’re separate from the rest of the ocean, just doing our thing.  We’re all fish, but we’re different species with different things going on lol.  We all see TK a bit differently, and we’re interested in different elements of their relationship.  What we have in common is an enjoyment and appreciation of their bond and interactions, and I just think that’s nice.

They’re so soft and sweet and warm -- those are the feelings I get watching them -- and when I made this blog, I really wanted it to be a space that would have the same vibe.  I’m glad there are so many people who feel comfortable here, and I like that we can all share our different opinions and just enjoy talking about this niche topic we’re all interested in.

In Supersons we see a couple of kids that are implied to be Damian and Jon's children and the boy has laser eyes and can fly, so I asume he's not adopted. The girl, who calls Bruce grandpa, can also fly, btw. So it's canon (probably by accident) that Jon can have kids and he must have married one of Bruce's kids.
