i have certainly thought about it!!! i've had a lot of demand for Professor Marmalade x Reader fic in particular, and it's tough to respond to all of the requests. y'see, i write a lot outside of my fandom activities and am a bit of an infrequent fic-writer (my AO3 - 18+! - is here). i create fandom content for myself and for my pals (apart from the rare occasions that i take on commissions) and my interests move around so much that committing to writing fic for a character ends up feeling more like a chore? and then i lose inspiration 😭😭

so it all depends!! there are some characters i've been extremely obsessed with (and still am) that i'd really love to write fic for, but i find fic to be so much more time-consuming and to require a hell of a lot more energy than making art or AMVs. i'm definitely not saying never, as i love the Professor and he would be really fun to write for...my inspiration is just focused in other areas right now 😓

The park at the compound was huge, it had tons of slides, climbing areas, and more. It was the coolest place Y/n had ever seen. Peter yelled, hanging off of the rope swing waving her over. "Push me!" He giggled, swinging his legs as he tried to get some air.

Y/n smiled as she walked over, pushing down the bit of her that wanted to be pushed on a swing too. "How high?" She asked, giving peter a few pushes, only ever getting "Higher" as a response.

"Wait!" Y/n could hear someone say from the playground, she turned to check it out but before she could see who had yelled Peter and the tire swing swung back and knocked her on her feet.

Both her and peter were laid on the mulch, scrapes from the wood gracing their hands, tears trailing down both their cheeks. "I'm so sorry!" Peter cried, missing one shoe.

"It's my fault, I wasn't looking." Y/n tried to smile, tried to not slip into her little headspace as she often did when hurt. "I didn' mean to!" She sobbed, her pain bearable but her worry for peter making her chest squeeze.

Tony and MJ walked over to peter, Tony picking him up and MJ checking his ankle to make sure it wasn't hurt.

Y/n stayed seated, tears still dripping down her cheeks as she tried to will herself to stand up and walk away, but the aching in her chest as she watched Peter be worried over made her feel worse. "It's okay, Baby." Bucky said quietly, approaching her like she was an animal ready to run at the first sign of danger. "You got a couple of owies, huh?" Bucky squatted down, now level with Y/n.

"'M fine Buck." She tried her hardest to sound big, to sound put together.

Y/n wasn't sure what was happening, or why Bucky was acting so sweet and kind to her. And she couldn't get his use of 'Owie' out of her head. But she felt hazy, not sure if she could stay big too much longer, her hands stinging more and more as the minutes passed.

The moment she nodded her head in agreement Bucky picked her up, one arm acting as a seat for her, Y/n's arms quickly wrapping around his neck. "Bucky!" She squealed as he walked them towards the compound. "'m too heavy, put me down!"

"I feel offended, Baby." Bucky chuckled, not out of breath or even slightly winded as he held her close. "I'm a super soldier, I can carry you no problem."

Y/n tried her best to think of a comeback, think of something to say to make him understand that her being picked up wasn't right. Yet the warmth his arms and body gave her, and the few forehead kisses he planted on her forehead as he walked made her disputes die the moment she thought of them.

"Okay." Bucky whispered, walking into his room then his bathroom, turning on the light before setting Y/n on the counter. "Let's get these hands patched up, okay?" Y/n nodded her head absentmindedly.

"T'anks." She said in a quiet voice, hands held out as Bucky cleaned her scrapes. "'m sorry for falling."

"Look at me, Baby." Bucky said, his hand resting under her chin. "You didn't do anything wrong, you just looked away for a second, it's okay, sometimes little's get distracted." He said calmly, quickly getting back to dabbing ointment on her hands.

I think the etiquette of ask blogs is a forgotten art. what I'm saying is (imo) it's not that people don't want to play, it is they don't know HOW, and more importantly they don't understand that the game exists to begin with. obviously you do not have to teach people the rules because your time and energy is finite but idk. it feels like from some of your OOC responses that you assume people know the rules and are playing badly, but I genuinely think people (me) just don't know what you are wanting them (us) to do. and also they (i) don't know how to tell if they (i) are playing the game correctly.

An example I am genuinely confused about is, is inciting a "shut up" answer a signal that the game is being played correctly, because we are inciting a reaction from the character? or is a "shut up" answer a signal that we are playing wrong and need to do something different? I'm sorry. I really love your art and seeing the story unfold but I'm confused and I want to play and I don't understand how.

I made 5 posts. They have made about 50 at this point, all cruel.

The first was to AEV on their first post, which was NOT as rude as people say. I said, look webmd and mayo clinic isn't going to hold up to some of the articles that endos are throwing at us. Try some of these. I said, look, you're going to get really tired of hearing the same endo arguments. Here's some points you can throw back at them.

NOT TO MENTION THE MISINFORMATION IN THE POST. Dissociation is only trauma based? Incorrect. Maybe you should reconsider whether you're ready to be in these conversations.

That response was hidden.

The second post, I was correcting an endo that DID wasn't a trauma disorder. I tagged AEV and said, "see, you can be nice about corrections, and these are the kind of sources you should use."

I was blocked.

THIS IS WHEN I CHANGED LABELS. I was so disappointed in the community that I said fuck that, that's not what I want to be, I don't support this behavior. That's another person that AEV turned pro endo. Good job.

Then I saw the anon saying I was an endo. I used my other blog to POLITELY say, "This isn't true, please stop posting about me like this." This post is still on JAS, I didn't delete it like people are claiming

The fourth post was me making my own public post saying, "this child is throwing a tantrum over corrections. Now l'm pissed and I have to make my own public post so people don't believe those lies." This was the first rude post. I called AEV a blemish, and here's why.

I just made a MASSIVE post about dissociation that is actively being spread within the endo community now. All because I changed my label. I don't care if you all want to block me, but don't pretend that you're all doing anything to help by making bad resources for an audience that already believes the same stuff (all these new antis). Now all the new ones are spreading the same bad sources that don't hold up, and we all (yes, you, me, them, the next CDD system in line) look bad for it.

AEV couldn't provide a single source that said DID WAS trauma based, only "usually" trauma based. AEV actually made antis TURN PRO ENDO, because they used so many sources that said "usually". I offered him sources that said it WAS trauma based.

I'm not kidding, you can find the people that changed sides on sophieinwonderland's blog. This is what happened. I don't need to be polite as pie to people inadvertently harming the CDD community, but I certainly wasn't rude about it

My final post, the fifth post, on the subject was the sad one. "My main was leaked." There are people that stalk my blogs. They send me threats and long asks about the things they'd do to me if they found me. When sophie first came to tumblr, I'd get asks about what people wanted ghost to do to me. In the past, every time a new doxxer comes out of their gross hole, I start getting doxxing threats. l've had people get close to my area.

My main being released means those people are one step closer to actually finding me. It means I'm now getting these kinds of messages in my only safe space.

And the anon who sent my main admitted it was done maliciously. We had a falling out like two years ago, because their asks were getting creepy. When I APOLOGIZED TO THEM for ever hurting them because of my own avoidance issues, and told them that on this post, their response was, "well I enjoyed sending them so fuck you." If I ever find that post deleted, I've got a screenshot. You were NOT a minor at the time, you're an adult.

... Nice, really mature. You're definitely safe for minors.

Hi, I love this blog tysm for running it!

I have a friend that I used to be very close to, but since I came out to her as aroace she keeps saying/doing weird things? And sometimes I think her real issue might be with me being aromantic, but she always references me being asexual? Idk she could have an issue with both, but we have other ace friends and she’s never treated them weirdly and I’m the only one who’s aroace.

Anyways she “accidentally” outed me to a girl that we were casually hanging out with. She says she didn’t even realize she’d done it, but she directly said it multiple times and worked it into multiple stories within a pretty brief timeframe. I confronted her about it later and she apologized and said she thinks she did it (again accidentally) because she was sleep deprived and defending me because this girl had previously not liked me and been rude to me the day before because I didn’t reciprocate her friend’s crush on me. My friend apparently wanted to make sure this girl knew it “wasn’t my fault I didn’t like him back”. Which is like oddly infantilizing, I think? It wouldn’t be my fault or morally wrong for me to not like him back even if I was straight. And it’s not like I was ever mean to him about it, we were friends for a bit, too. (He has a gf now and we don’t really talk anymore.)

And this isn’t the first time my friend has done something like this either. When I was first figuring it out she seemed really happy for me, but we’d be at parties or hanging out with people and she’d start telling a story and then remember that me being ace was relevant to the story and would pause and ask in front of the person if I was okay with them knowing, which kind of defeats the purpose. Like what am I going to do? Say no? They already know that something is up, at that point I’m just clarifying what.

And I complained to her about how another close friend had developed a crush on me and how things got really tense and awkward between me and him because we weren’t communicating well and when I told her I just wanted him and I to be close friends like we had been before his crush, she told me I couldn’t expect that level of emotional intimacy without having sex. Which is probably a bad sign for all of her relationships.

I like being aroace a lot and it’s not something I’m ashamed of, but it also isn’t anyone I don’t want to know’s business. I’m not out to my family because I’m scared of how they’d react to me being queer, so it makes me really nervous that my “best friend” accidentally outs me to people. And it makes me sad because she was the first person I told.

hi ur a tumblr blog that i like a lot who's really good with wording things when it comes to discussing fandom stuff. i'm wondering what ur thoughts are on fandom being really obsesssed with writing characters exactly "right". whether it's in character or writers only writing this character with other characters they like, etc. i've seen people feel self conscious about their writing and even stop because fandom will just go "why are you guys writing them like this/i'm so tired of seeing this trope/so repetitive." Fanfic writing should be fun. it shouldn't feel like the end of the world if they're writing the same things several times over. even if a character isn't 100% accurate, or they don't include that character's other lore or relationships or background or whatever. and i'm saying this as a sbi fan who got so tired of all the typical sbi tropes back in the day! sorry for this long tangent, i'm just wondering what your thoughts on this kind of stuff?

HELLO. Okay, so.

First of all, I absolutely am tracking with the paralyzing fear that you're writing someone or a trope Wrong, and people are going to get mad at you, they're posting right now, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... maybe I just don't write it. I have put story ideas on the back burner because I'm scared of writing specific people in the idea. I noticed it especially in QSMP, you can come up against the issue of depicting people from languages you don't speak and with disabilities you don't share, and the fear that a) people will be mad at me, b) I will write something Actually Bad And Harmful— that's a vivid fear. If you decide that writing a specific character or specific read on a character is not worth the risk of blowback if you do it wrong, that's fair and I can't fault you.

But on the other hand, if you find joy in a character and you're afraid to depict them, and you step away from them, that's kind of a tiny tragedy. I understand the fear, but if your fandom participation is driven by fear, I would say that's a good sign that you need to step back from the fandom— find a new way to participate or find a new place to belong. I have a lot of anxiety and I have had to take a step back from keeping up with fandom several times, I go "okay I leaned into this a little too hard, time to unfollow some people" cause I can track in myself if my fandom creation is being modivated by fear rather than joy. And there's enough fear in my normal life, I want this to be a place of joy.

Because the thing is, if the way someone's love of a character plays out is that they post impassioned posts about characterization in the character tag, that's also fair. They get to do that. They love the character, and this is a guesture of love. If they are specifically calling out other fics that they think "did it wrong", there's a sliding scale there from "pointing out egregious racism/sexism" to "straight up being an asshole to baby writers" and that could be anywhere on there, but someone dropping an impassioned two thousand word guide to how best to write their favourite character is not hurting me or anyone else, they're also following their joy in fandom. That's not my joy, but it's a valid one.

Cause I think there's something that draws us to the characters (or the plotlines) and it's perfectly fair if someone wants to go "okay here is point by point how to depict the character that we all love", and you're running the risk of being an asshole if you go too far into it but there's also nothing wrong with going "I do not know why everyone writes this character as a humourless fighter, guy could not go more than two seconds without cracking a joke, did we even watch the same streams", as long as you're not being actively rude. Especially with people pointing out ableism, racism, sexism, etc— I can see why they would not want those tropes to continue unchallenged, and I think much of the fandom would not want to be accidentally doing a racism. I see those posts and I go Good To Know and I sock that information away.

But also, on the other hand, like, if the fandom police show up at my door/in my comments, they can come back with a warrant. If I want to take two characters who never met in fandom and have them passionately make out, that is my god-given right, no matter if it's butchering the characterization. Maybe I am the True Knower Of The Character and I know that their real true love is somebody who they never met. Maybe I just think it's funny. That's perfectly fine. This is a space where we do work for free, for fun. This is about having fun, no matter if it's cringe or cliche. If I want to write a trope that has five thousand hits on the archive about those characters already, just try and stop me. I will be writing superhero aus till they have to pry me out of this fandom with a crowbar, I think. Overdone trope? Insert "You've told this story before" "AND YOU"LL HEAR IT AGAIN" gif. My Ao3 is my little yell hole for writing things that please me, and by god am I going to write the same two characters over again in the same series of situations. This is for fun, I'm doing what's fun.

I think you just have to do a check on yourself and go "is this hurting anybody", and if it's not, straight up do what you want forever. Other people can go "I only want to see this character written as a bear" and I can go "I respect that but this fic is not for you" and write them as a nerd, and they're not hurting anyone to say that, but I'm also not hurting anyone to do it my way. I do care about depicting the character as in canon, cause that's the character I fell in love with, but also if I write a story in which I turned up the dials on his anxiety and made him adorably worried about social misteps so I can reassure him that he's fine— I also get to do that. It's not hurting anyone to be silly or cliche or cringe or make the blorbos kiss or have them be friends with different people or ignore all aspects of lore that do not bring you joy or what have you. Our fandom now, do what you want.

I think that there are a lot of different ways to do fandom, and a lot of learning to exist in fandom is letting other people do their own thing over there, and then you follow your bliss over there, and you can be as aware of them or not as you wish, but you don't have to cater to what other people like. In MCYT we do sometimes worry about creators who are only doing things because their fans/twitter want them to, and how that will lead to fear and creative burnout, and the same applies to fandom people. I think it's not a bad thing if you personally are concerned about writing the canon character and you keep going back to canon to check that, but it's also not a bad thing if you are four generations down in fandom characterization just having fun with it. And in both cases I think it's fair if the person who really likes canon doesn't read the fanon one, and the fanon person goes "but where is the [fandom tropes I like]" and doesn't read the canon one. Not everything you write or draw is going to be for everybody, and that's fine. I even have friends who love unhappy endings and I do not, and we're still friends, I just do not click through on their unhappy ending fics.

Mostly I just think you have to check yourself and go "is this actually bad or did I see someone post a rant about how tired they were of it" and if it's like "this is sexist" maybe consider if you agree with that person or not, and if it's "this trope is overdone" then do whatever you want forever.

I guess she’s tired calling herself Jess Moloney because her name is not famous according to her, she wants to change her last name and be called Jess Bower instead and I hope Jamie won’t have the idea of marrying her, because his life with her will be worse.

Jess really believes she is a « Bower » by posing with Jamie’s parents, knowing she has no class and no kindness unlike them.

Jess stan’s say people who don’t like her and write their feelings about her on this blog are obsessed and jealous of her, but personally I don’t like Jess because she behaves badly with Jamie it shows in the photos or videos, she was rude to some of his fans during the conventions, she looked angry when someone talked to him, when Jamie and Finn Wolfhard were talking to each other Jess did not participate in the conversation and she was bored, knowing she was not obliged to come every time but she came and I am surprised by these people who have still defended her and have not realized her rude behavior for 2 years.

I have flaws, but jealousy and obsession are not part of it and honestly, people who are really obsessed and jealous of Jess should not be because she has no talent, no personality and she does not set a good example for teenage girls and young adult women, knowing that she uses Jamie to have a talent and a personality, so no one should envy this horrible woman.

If anyone is jealous of Jess (which I find hard to believe) and hates her because they are jealous then they only hate her because she's with Jamie. They don't hate her because they think she's pretty. They don't hate her because they think she's talented. They hate her because they see Jamie as some sort of prize to be won just like Jess does.

Though the same could be said for the stans. I think anyone who stans her as hard as they do, doesn't really like her. They like that she has Jamie. They don't think she's pretty. They don't think she's nice. They don't think she's talented. They don't like her tattoos. They praise her in public because they want Jamie to notice them. They praise her because they hope she notices them and tells Jamie. They praise her because they see Jamie as a prize to be won and they see Jess as the trash she is but they think "If this is how low the bar is set then I have a chance" because I mean look at it logically.

Jess has nothing going for her. Not that looks are everything but if she was pretty at least that would be something, she doesn't have that. She doesn't have talent. She doesn't have a good business sense. She doesn't have money. She doesn't have style. She has nothing. She is nothing. Her whole image is pretending to be something she's not and she's not even good at that.

So these little stans who see Jamie as nothing other than a piece of meat see that he got with this absolutely worthless woman and trick themselves into believing he doesn't have high standards so if they are nice to her and they worship her Jamie will like them too, but it's all fake. All of it's fake.

In this entire time that I've been running this blog and I've been asking the stans what do you like about Jess specifically not one single stan has ever answered me genuinely. Because when you ask them what they like about Jess that's not superficial and also has nothing to do with Jamie they don't have an answer. They don't like her. She doesn't have stans she has obsessive little Jamie fans who think they are supposed to defend her even if they don't like her or actively hate her.

Hi! I hope you are doing ok. I know this might be coming out of the blue, but I feel the need to spread the word so other fans can see this and not go through the same that I have been. I recently joined a FortPeat server on Discord. I saw the invite on a tumblr tag and I thought it could be a good idea since most fandom spaces I've been in were usually wholesome and nice to meet new people and talk about the things we all have in common and love. I will be honest with you that I had actually thought the server had something to do with your account since I always see you in the fortpeat tags (I don't really use my tumblr account, I'm more of a lurker, I just recently got into the fortpeat fandom) and you always seemed to be like a lovely person. I was actually told by this server owner that you were also one of the server owners at some point, and I remember seeing one of your posts talking about "the discord incident"… I have no idea if both of these things are related to each other, but I understood immediately after talking to this server owner why you'd leave that place. This server is extremely toxic. I and another member were kicked out simply because we harboured a different opinion than the one from the server owner. She is a grown-ass woman and treats people in a really childish manner. She's condescending and passive-aggressive. She deleted our messages for no good reason and then said we were free to leave if we were not happy with her rules. The other member called her out on it and this is what got us kicked out. That was it. Nothing else. I thought for a second that I could've been somewhat rude, but another member of the server reached out to me in private to tell me this had happened many times before and that neither I nor the person who was kicked out were rude. So, my point with this ask is I hope whoever's still stuck in that graveyard filled with toxicity, please leave as soon as possible. I had other people reaching out to me since then to tell me that they also experienced really bad things there. I'm really sorry if you went through some shit because of it, but yeah. I hope the owner reflects on her attitude if she intends on keeping up with a server she clearly has, currently, zero capabilities of running if this is how she treats her members. First of all sorry for the late response I needed some time to think through a proper response since it's a sensitive topic and I am typing this out while in the middle of a program and my Wifi is wacky so I don't know when you might get this 🫣

Now I am not gonna lie, when I first received this ask I was sceptical about even posting this. I tend to avoid all kinds of drama as I quite don't have the time for that but then I realized won't that mean I too am ignoring you the same way the server owner did and essentially cutting you off and I am not that kind of person. I believe that everyone deserves to have their opinion heard and from what you told me I think you deserve it especially when you are definitely not in the wrong.

But first things first. I am so sorry you went through something like that. Nobody deserves it least of someone who joined a server believing that it might be something good. I will tell you it used to be good but then everything kind of fell apart. I left that server back in Nov due to personal reasons and a disagreement with the server owner.

Now the discord incident.. it was more or less connected to this but it was also me and my best friend joking around coz the both of us have had bad experiences with it. I never thought anyone would pay attention to it 🫣🫣😂. Now I don't want to dish out my personal experiences publicly like this so if you ever want to talk privately my DMS are always open 🥰 I promise it to be safe space for you and anyone who wants to talk.

I would also like to thank you for opening up like this I am sure it must not have been easy to trust me especially after your experience. What's all this with the rpc making you a villain?

[I should first preface this with the fact that it isn't the DB RPC. In fact, the Dragonball RPC, save for a few times, has always been chill and a really great place to hang out. There are some really cool and creative people here, and I'm so grateful for them. They're also very chill and, for the most part, can recognize the difference between a harmless opinion about a character in a series, the difference between IC and OOC thoughts and behaviors, and actual, harmful "vague blogging" and toxic behavior.

The rest under the cut because I sort went overboard.

That said, that's basically what I've been dealing with for months in another RPC (which I'm sure plenty of you know which it is if you know my blog count). In short, I've been lectured and turned into a monster by a very clique-ish RPC seemingly for my character not always being sunshine and rainbows and for both of us having opinions that go against the grain of the rest of them. It seems that since a mun did not like the way my character interacted with theirs--this was all IC I want to let you know--they've spread a whole bunch of lies about me being a bully and toxic to the rest of the RPC, which is small and, according to someone who decided to lecture me, "everyone" in this RPC are friends and they all talk (first telling me plainly you're not part of the "in" group so you can't "misbehave" like their friend did with ACTUAL vague blogging in this particular scenario as well as confirming the very clique-ish nature of the RPC). Through this is how THEY heard about how "terrible" I am and told me they didn't want to RP with me. Which you know, on it's face, whatever. That part wasn't the issue and I'm sure you can see what was.

So, since then, it's been a constant fight against people, anonymously or not, coming at me over literal nothing posts. Telling me I shouldn't "vague blog", passive aggressively telling me that there is an X character blog in the RPC and that mine or my character's "harsh" opinion might hurt their feelings. For then and perpetually having to defend myself and explain my POV, that my character isn't a ray of sunshine, that IC =/= OOC. Just to be told I was the one being aggressive and rude and a horrible person for doing nothing wrong from the jump. For making a nothing post about, in this most recent case, the portrayal of a character IN A CANON(ish) SOURCE (it's a side game that technically isn't part of the canon, for reference). Nothing about how someone played them. Nothing about any particular mun. Literally just IC commentary from my character and a short, fair critique of the depiction of this character in this particular source material. Oh, and then it was a lecture about doing it "publicly" (the conversation was in replies where the person STARTED IT I should add), so...you know.

And that's not mentioning the blatant double standard there seems to be when I have friends that post similar stuff and never hear a peep from anyone about it. They're not blocked by basically everyone. They're not getting messages or replies to their posts with people clutching their pearls and lecturing about RP decorum.

I've been basically blocked by at least half of that RPC, a ton of them people I've never even interacted with, so I can't help but feel some type of way about what might be being said about me behind closed doors. I'm not even sure if the story I told you above is where this started. I did make a mistake that I owned up to years ago when I lost my temper, so I'm not sure if that ordeal got me a bad rep or if it's just all this recent garbage that people have flung at me for just...running my stupid blog. For my character being rougher around the edges and for both of us being outspoken and opinionated. Like I understand I won't be everyone's cup of tea. That's fine. But as I've said...I can't help but feel this is a targeted effort. That this is a group of people poisoning my name and putting me on an RPC wide DNI list.

This probably sounds like me playing the victim, but I really don't understand why it's happening. At all. Everyone I've talked to that knows the situation are as stumped as me. I just really don't get it, and there's nothing I can do about it. Tumblr was made to be a social app, for people to interact with each other and reblog posts in order to do so. That’s why there’s so many options to add responses to posts, to add tags and even send asks.

I have an ao3 and anyone is more than welcome to read my fics over there without leaving a comment, kudos or bookmark— like the huge majority do.

But on here it makes me uncomfortable to have so many blank/empty/plain blogs following me with absolutely no fandom content reblogged whatsoever or only generic posts/responses. Especially since two of the times I’ve been plagiarised it was by either a blank blog following me on here, it a k-pop blog who didn’t reblog anime content stealing my shit. So I’m sorry I don’t want them following me.

And the post you’re talking about in question, I was nice because I know that a lot of people still don’t understand the importance of reblogging your faves. Even though artists and writers go on and on and on about it, what’s the point of being mean? I only posted that response AFTER she replied to me saying that she didn’t understand the point of reblogging fanart or fanfic… even though she reblogs literal nonsense posts. That’s the part that really got me.

Fen: Pansexual, bisexual, no matter your opinions on what label works best, if you're hot she's into it. She thinks it's kinda fascinating that this isn't the consensus on attraction. On the aromantic spectrum somewhere, because I'm incapable of making allo characters.

Hanna: She's pretty sure she's heterosexual; she has slept with more than just men, but she finds herself primarily focusing on men. She leads a busy stressful complicated life so if someone offers, that's all that matters, she'll take it, but she's not as into it as she could be. She's never really dedicated time/effort to figuring out more because she's got a busy stressful complicated life, but she is demiromantic.

Alecto: Their perception of sexuality (whoever is strong is attractive) is the only correct way. Astarion is strong in spirit, and in combat, if not in body, and he's not helpful in explaining how it works for people not raised in a creche, he's also drawn to strength.

3. How did your oc discover themselves? Did something cause them to question or have they always known?

Fen: She's always known. She's been through a lot of different cultures, and understood from her beginning how she worked.

Hanna: Was hit on by a gorgeous tiefling woman within her first year on the road, and thought "oh I can't pass up this opportunity", and then didn't enjoy it as much as she figured she would. Spent the next couple years finding the pattern before realizing she just wasn't as into women as she originally thought.

Alecto: The gith way is the only right way. Everyone born in the creche knows this.

6. How does your oc feel about labels? Theirs, or in general?

Fen: Likes learning new ones! Both for herself and others. She thinks they're neat.

Hanna: Doesn't mind labels, but doesn't use them herself; does her absolute (hehehe) best to respect others'.

Alecto: Thinks labels are restrictive until someone tries to explain otherwise, and they just find that more confusing. Why say you fit into a category if that's not always true, then you're lying about it? Zheir friends mark it a lost cause. She isn't rude about it on purpose though, he's just genuinely confused.

11. Is your oc open about their identity? Are they more blunt or lowkey? Why or why not?

Fen: Has a thing about sharing personal information needlessly, is not open about it.

Hanna: Is blunt if asked, has no problem with being open about it, but non-maliciously considers it to be a waste of conversation. We could sit around and talk about objective statements about each other, or we could go take care of someone who needs help. She has a preference.

Alecto: Is, in fact, too blunt about it. Karlach once made the mistake of saying that talking to people about it is a way of showing you trust them, and listening to people about it is a way of showing you care, and now she brings it up (in too much detail) when she's trying to make friends. Her existing friends have to explain "it means she likes you".

i dont understand, did a scammer come into your inbox whining about being harassed?

I got a very angry message from another blogger who called me a child and told me it was entirely my fault they got harassed just because I had a post where I assumed the owner of a blog had been behind some harassing/rude asks I had got. I have since removed the post so they shouldn’t need to worry anymore about getting anons who apparently say I sent them there when I did not. The blogger also accused me of being obsessed over them when I barely had any posts here about them and had made it clear the original incident had made me uncomfortable enough that I didn’t really want to discuss it as it was someone unknown victim blaming me for how my stalker acted and therefore also saying it was my fault and I should quit saying I can’t stop them after I said my stalker uses a VPN to get around a block. However it seems likely the asks could have been sent by people who knew them but I’ll never really know regardless. They also told me I blocked a mutual of theirs which doesn’t seem important regarding what was going on. I don’t know who it was. I tend to generally block annoying anons.

While I was indeed incorrect regarding who ran the blog, it is wrong to point the blame at me entirely when I have made it quite clear several times over all my posts that I don’t condone harassment and that I tell my followers please don’t do it when I mention accounts in my warnings even if I tag a scammer in a post where I’m showing proof their scamming. Scammers tend to just ignore me and then yell at me too but they do it poorly since they just resort to laughable insults.

The point is, running a scam busting blog gets you yelled at by assorted members of the userbase. Some just don’t like what you do and will go out of their way to be a jerk and that is their choice. You can’t control them and they may go out of their way to point the blame on you by telling someone you sent them there. Scammers even do that often. Eventually you just have to deal with the fact that people will get harassed even if you have stated several times over that you don’t want it happening.

I will not discuss the situation much further as the blog likely has users following me who relay to them anything I say. That is all. But it wasn’t a scammer just another account.

i promised myself i wouldnt talk about the gothic lit fandom drama anymore but i will just say that, while i dont care for other people curating their fandom experience and blocking whomever they like, it is very telling that big name fans are systematically blocking people that speak up against the racism and ableism that go unchecked in the fandom, and rallying other fans into doing the same claiming it's bullying. it's not. it's criticism and it's not even particularly biting.

if you keep using "it's satire" to defend uncritical consumption of racist media (marghen), harrass those that ask for an antisemitism warning even if it is a redundant one (dathen), miss the picture and paint the fans of a character mistreated by the fandom as violent for speaking up (draculadailybracket), or double down when confronted with the fact your writing is ableist and that certain stereotypes shouldnt be met with praise in 2023 (see-arcane and company), people have a right to be uncomfortable. sorry not sorry but that sort of behavior IS criticism-worthy.

i do agree that callout/cancel culture is unhealthy, but that doesnt mean you are free from accountability. when someone walks up to you and says, "what you're doing is bigoted [accidentally or not]", or hell, even, "i don't agree with this creative choice because [reason]", you can either

consider if what they're saying really is worthwhile, and meditate on it; apologize if needed, dismiss if they're wrong.

and a lot of big name fans are, sadly, doing the second, and convincing otherwise decent people to block "bullies" that are genuinely just concerned fans. i don't know- maybe a small speck of tumblr fame got to their heads. they certainly did not behave like that during the dracula daily run of 2022, and while the gothic literature fandom -like any fandom- has always had rampant issues with racism and ableism (made even more blatant by the fact the source material IS openly racist and ableist more often than not!), this is the first time I've seen fans put people on a blocklist for the offense of calling it out.

the old gothic lit fandom blocklist wasn't great but they certainly treated ableism within the fandom seriously.

like. idk. i just find it rather disgusting that the new big name fans are seeing a handful of people look at their creations and go, hey, this is not cool, and here's why, now, can you stop?, and reacting by painting us as violent bullies.

i've been put on the blocklist for pointing out LXG fanworks -specially "fixit fic" ones- should keep Mina as the protagonist instead of having her share that position with her husband that wasn't even present in the comics/movie, for fuck's sake. i've had a blog block me for saying a fanfic that depicts a villain as an extremely ableist caricature of dissociative identity disorder was gross (because it was!). like... are you aware that it is you who are being assholes here, right? i might be being rude or pushy at times but it's honestly grotesque that so many people are hailing some Shyamalan's Split grade shit as good, innovative, and progressive writing and "the antidote to bad Hollywood adaptations".

“God I hope so” pg. 646 I’m not sure if he will as he does commit suicide and then come back. Would that be the death curse? An outside force? Speaking of death curse with Harry dying does that fulfill the death curse? Does coming back negate it? Is it a one time use? This is another reason the curse is lame. 

Now Morgan thinks Harry isn’t doing anything out of malice finally

Final thoughts 

I liked this book. We had two Bi Harry moments up to 22. I always liked the Marcone moments.  Loved the White Council bashing. I loved Butters in this. I’m glad Bob is safe. Harry should punch Morgan as a treat. I hope to see more of Thomas and Harry interacting. I’m glad Dresden files kinda addressed the WW1 question. What I mean is that a lot of urban fantasy with magic and monsters don’t really address WW1 and by extension WW2. Like if you had magic where were you during WW2 and the Holocaust? With Kemmler he started WW1 which led to WW2 and his whole mass graves. The death curse was stupid and a waste from Cassius. I liked the Erkling. I loved Sue she was so cool. I hope I get more Lasciel. I like Carlos and I’m glad Harry got a friend. Harry’s threat to Mavra is very cool. Onto the next book.
