you know what? i am just so glad that we dont have to worry about the climate crisis anymore. apparently it has all been resolved and honestly, it is so so good to see that everything is normal and the world makes sense. i have to see my thesis supervisor in january. a flight from hamburg to stuttgart with a stopover in munich is both cheaper and quicker than a train ticket for the same dates 6 weeks from now. it just makes sense! i swear it makes sense. haha 😀 i could fly to london ON FRIDAY (that is the day after tomorrow) for €28,39 (granted, with ryanair, or i could wait until next week and fly with a real airline, BA, for €60 😃) but it would cost me anywhere from €12 to €25 just to get to the airport half an hour from my house. (half an hour by car that is. two hours by train lmao) i was also thinking about visiting my dad sometime between xmas and new years. sure, it's a busy travel week, so €121,80 for two train tickets doesn't seem too bad, right? only for €137 i can book a return flight with lufthansa. and that's 50 minutes on a plane vs 4+ hours on a train. 😌 what a world we live in! i mean honestly, they could PAY me €137 and i still wouldn't book a domestic flight. this is germany, not fucking australia. but please explain to me how any of this makes sense. you cant. because it doesnt. but yeah. it's even more infuriating with intra-european travel, and especially travel between mainland europe and the uk. like isn't it so wonderful that the channel tunnel is treated like some sort of carnival ride and you have to include 1-2 hours of check-in time in your itinerary because eurostar have delusions of grandeur and make you take off your shoes airplane style and also close their ticket gates 30 min before departure so they can sell you overpriced coffee and sandwiches? isnt that fun? like come on be serious for a moment. its a train. choo choo bitch why is your platform walled off? it shouldn't take a degree in international relations and 5-7 years professional experience in passenger transport for me to book a train from redacted germany to london england and yet here we are. i mean right now you can't even book eurostar trains via deutsche bahn directly lmao, and if you do a silly little preisermittlung, DB will charge you more for the eurostar train than what you'd pay if you booked the eurostar train directly on the eurostar website (rofl even) so of course you buy two separate tickets. but then if you arrive late in amsterdam or brussels or paris and maybe get stuck in the security or uk border control lines eurostar will just close the gates on you and go whoopsie ha ha bummer you have two separate tickets did you really think 2 hours transfer time was enough lol. and even if all of your trains happen to be on time and you do make the connection in a-dam/brussels/paris, you have to be so generous with your planning that you end up turning what could have been a 7 hour train journey into a day-long ordeal.

Hi! This have probably been asked before, but do you host Idletry and Commital somewhere other than tumblr?
nah. Idletry is paywalled for reasons like "it will have mature content in it" and "it's going to be expensive to print," and Committal is just a fan comic posted out-of-order on a whim, so it didn't feel worth it to make a separate site.

community college is so funny because half of the teachers are like "For this class you need to use lockdown browser for all quizzes and tests. You need to buy this 70 dollar textbook, and all papers turned in must be in APA format with a title page even if they're only 500 words long. I will not accept late assignments. Also you have a minimum of 4 assignments a week." and the other half are like "you don't need proctoring for the final exam I trust you. here's a download link to a pirated copy of the textbook. as long as your writing is coherent and demonstrates an understanding of the material I literally could not care less what format you use. I can't figure out how canvas works so I'm not giving you due dates, just make sure it's turned in before the grading period ends. your only weekly assignment is a forum post with a minimum of 100 words."
#my favorite teacher so far is still the film history professor I had in my first semester.#he was very old and didn't understand how canvas worked at all and sometimes had trouble opening a video file#but simultaneously he was tech literate enough to recommend we use firefox with an ad blocker#because whenever someone missed class and was like 'where do i go to find the movie' he'd be like 'use an ad blocker and google it'#he said the school made him stop emailing links to free movie sites because people would open them on chrome with no ad block#and there'd be borderline malware on them. like this guy gave me the impression he was like. a veteran movie pirate lol.#that class had barely any assignments. like there wasn't a final exam or anything.#he just wanted us to write a paragraph or so answering a few questions about the movies we watched. it was chill.#and i also learned a lot actually. like i didn't know what a nickelodeon was before then. or the Hays Code.#the movies were genuinely good. i never thought Id be that into old black and white movies or westerns for example but they actually slapped#some of them had really mature themes and i definitely started to understand the people on this website who are like#'if the only media you consume is children's media you should maybe branch out instead of calling steven universe problematic'#because a lot of the movies we watched depicted very 'problematic' things and were able to directly address them because they are for adults#(to clarify I didn't just like kids media before then. i just mean that it introduced me to some older stuff i didn't think I'd like)#(but i ended up liking a lot. it also made me realize that movies made today are kind of shit. which i also already knew)#(but it put it more into perspective because I have more to compare it to)#im rambling now. community college is pretty swag i enjoy it. and i do get along with the teachers who have crazy requirements too lol.

So some gaylors and swifties are saying taylor is mirroring KK with brittany mahomes now, because she did that lover pose and that she is throwing shade to her. I don't know what to think anymore, I really don't understand what taylor is doing right now
also KK was mocked for being on the nosebleeds by some late night show and they are saying taylor and tree planted this
i'm sorry you feel shaken by this, anon!
i'm not phased by it, though. the anti-karlie contingent will grab at any wisp of an opportunity to dig at her.
i've been around here observing things for almost 4 years now and i am convinced that there is no bad blood between them (quite the contrary). the thousands and thousands of instances of them referencing each other in a loving way has me confident, and the haters can't shake that.
i haven't seen the colbert clip so i don't know the context, but it sounds really weird that he would talk about something that happened 7 months ago ? and the only response i have to that atm is that it proves kaylor is still a hot topic people are talking about !

Would you be willing to talk about the idea of 'psychopaths in real life'? I know you've written them but because there's so much messy pop culture around the idea of a psychopath I've never been sure of what about the idea of them is real. Are some people simply born wanting to hurt people? Or is it the result of early major trauma, or innate? I've met a lot of very cruel people but I think I'd say they probably weren't like that with select groups of people (their friends or family) rather than people they viewed as targets/unimportant/sinners/etc... Probably? I suppose I think of them more as emotionally sadistic than as fundamentally incapable of empathy. But maybe I just haven't met the right people, or known them well enough. Just an invitation to share your thoughts on the subject, if you're willing.
Are some people simply born wanting to hurt people? Or is it the result of early major trauma, or innate?
If you had an answer to this, anon, you'd have an answer to one of the greatest mysteries of psychology and sociology. The truth is, we just don't know for sure. There's a lot of good evidence on both sides, depending on who you're studying, which strongly suggests that sometimes it might be the first, sometimes it might be the second, and sometimes it's both.
But the reality is we don't know.
Scientists really, really want to find ways of detecting folks like this before some of them turn to extremely violent or cruel crimes, so obviously finding out the causative genetic and/or social factors is extremely important to them. It would save a lot of money re: governments for a start, so this is an area that's had bursts of funding over the years. But the reality is we're not really a great deal closer to figuring it out.
We do know that some folks genuinely seem to have had no social causative factors, and others folks genuinely seem to have been shaped by their upbringing. If you want to go into this there are hundreds of books and articles on the subject, and you'll very quickly see that no one is in agreement and we still have no solid early detection systems.
I've met a lot of very cruel people but I think I'd say they probably weren't like that with select groups of people (their friends or family) rather than people they viewed as targets/unimportant/sinners/etc… Probably?
The fact is, unless you were with them 24/7 you don't know how they were behaving with friends and family. In fact, this is how certain priests and cops get away with so much of what they do. There are priests who have been kind and compassionate to entire congregations and then gone on to rape 30/40 children in cruel ways that have led to many suicides, who feel zero shame or remorse and who very obviously just wanted access to children in a job that would give them community trust without having to earn it. That kindness and compassion is a performance to secure what you want.
Secondly, perhaps they were good with friends and family, so was Gacy. Many folks like this understand that they need to strategically set up networks of people who believe you to be kind etc. Being a psychopath doesn't mean you're stupid (although some are, varying intelligence levels exist), often these folks understand that to get away with doing what they truly want to do, there needs to be a cloak of 'I'm fine and normal and nice' around them. The ones who don't understand this tend to go to jail very quickly (or die very quickly due to the circumstances around their behaviours - being a psychopath is not a safe thing to be if you can't pair it with an ability to be selective).
But maybe I just haven't met the right people, or known them well enough.
I'm not going to talk about specific details of my past but I will say it's likely that you just haven't met someone on this level and/or have but are just not in their target zone because they might just be in the periphery of your experience.
Folks like Crielle exist in the world, for example, and sadly it's often more people than you'd expect. But some of those people are also incredibly intelligent and manipulative. They often operate on a level different to most of us.

Been meaning to do another one of these for a second, but didn't have any cool outfit pics--until I remembered these blurry pics I had from 2021 that I could never do much with. Libbyframe is the inspo for these as usual,✨️
#Reposting cause I fixed a lineart mistake that was killing me FINALLY after HOURS#will post the previous tags here#rewritten cause I forgot to copy them yay ->#a mini rant which isn't really a rant but more like information#I have followed this girl called Johanna Öst on Instagram for years#highly recommend it btw#and she did something called the wardrobe project for years first on LiveJournal then on Insta#and it consisted on her taking pieces of clothing she didn't wear from her wardrobe#and trying to match them up and make them wearable#and I wanted to do something similar but I didn’t wanna post it on Instagram for several reasons#mainly cause I'd feel like intimidated by everyone else who posts fashion stuff#and because I'd like to do it in video form#also because I'd have to do it in Portuguese and I didn't want to#also because people from my past follow me there#anyway a whole thing#and then I thought abt tumblr but the dms I get over here whenever I post pics of me are disconcerting to say the least#so I didn’t do it BUT if I could turn it into a little fashion AND art project that'd be cool#and I'd credit both Johanna and Libby on every post cause that's where I got the ideas from#and I'd take outfit pics and draw them like this#would it be time consuming? Yes very#but it might be fun to try cause I have fun drawing these#either way I still am a hit iffy abt posting pictures of me on this webbed site#however no creepy dms from the other drawing so fingers crossed it might lead to something#but if not no biggie#it's also kind of cold so idk when I'll be able to start doing this cause changing clothes etc#but we'll see#anyway#my face#art#artists on tumblr

I think one of the most difficult things you end up learning to have to say is "I don't think I'm able to help you"
sometimes it's trauma, sometimes school projects, sometimes money, sometimes recommendations for a new phone, and sometimes you can't say it out loud

Once again: the so-called "General Fandom History," in terms of which things get held up as Iconic™ or Well-Done™ or Worth Analyzing™ has disproportionately focused on (cis, abled) white men. Some of us would like to not have everything be focused on this one demographic and would, in fact, love to not constantly hear--implicitly or explicitly--how stories about people like us are inherently less interesting or less worthy of telling.
"Remember your history," WE KNOW THE HISTORY. AND WE WANT TO MOVE ON.

pride asks woo !!
12, 15, 25
and for 35:
how do you deal with frustrating people like homophobes and transphobes or people just being generally shitty towards the lgbtq+ community?
Answers under the cut!
12) Name some queer artists/bands or songs you like most:
Dog Park Dissidents!!!! June Henry!!! Against Me!! Fall Out Boy!!! I definitely recommend finding as much queer music as you can, it's incredibly impactful to engage with art that shares your experience.
15) How has your identity changed overtime?
Overtime the main change is just that I've gotten more comfortable gobbling up any labels I want haha. When I was a teenager I identified as Bi, and then later as Pan. I came out as trans when I was 14 and that hasn't changed, but to me it coexists with identifying as lesbian/sapphic/dyke. Oh reclaiming of dyke/faggot is also a more recent change. Relating to the point below!
25) What queer discourse frustrates you the most?
The thing is. Queer history has to be sought out, and so many young queer people (or older, sure!) don't really have context around queer community struggling together and being intertwined. Discourse that feels very on-paper to me such as transmascs and lesbians not sharing community, bi vs pan, or discourse that weaves in other kinds of oppression like cis gay men being transphobic/misogynistic/racist etc. is frustrating. Our struggles are all woven together, and so is our liberation. And so is everyones!! Seeing in fighting online about how to appeal to cishet people or who's allowed to use what terms or be in what spaces feels like we're going backwards sometimes. We have important things that can be learned from one another, we have overlapping experiences and battles, we have been called overlapping slurs, and we must help one another to get anywhere in this god damn world. Talk to queer people that are older than you, younger than you, live in different parts of the world than you. Read anything you can online or at the library about queer history. We're all in this thing together and you can disagree with someone and still be in community with them.
35) How do you deal with frustrating people like homophobes and transphobes or people just being generally shitty towards the lgbtq+ community?
If it's online block their ass. Some Marco lore is that a guy in highschool stalked me for about 7 years and posted details about me on 4chan including pictures of me and where I went to school and worked. Just because I'm trans. Block them. I do think there is some value in arguing online, to practice getting uncomfortable and to signal to others that there's someone on their side, but I wouldn't recommend it generally.
A lot of my answers here are going to intertwine, but the best thing I can recommend is a robust support system. Friends, family, coworkers, pets, therapists, etc. Having people who love you helps with emotional battles, and with physical safety.
