Last night I had a dream that me and my best friend were living together and it was super not going well lol
#in the dream she had an extra kid which was a 5 year old boy named sam. i feel fine saying his name because this is not a real child#this was in addition to her actual; real life child which is a toddler girl#i did not find the addition of sam to be in any way weird in the dream. it was like sam had been there the whole time#anyway so we were living together in this absolute dive of a house. i slept on the couch; she and both kids shared a twin bed together#and we had a roommate which was an elderly man who wasn’t related to either of us. he didn’t seem malicious exactly but he also didn’t care#about any of us. i specifically remember he never spoke to me but he would speak with her and seemingly entertain requests/favours from her#anyway so in the dream i was working for a failing takeaway business. i was specifically just answering the phones#and i bragged that i only ever got about 4 calls a night but they still had to pay me minimum wage for the whole night so it was basically#the easiest job i’d ever had. and my friend was like ‘i want to come work there too!’ so we somehow arranged this and they agreed to pay her#for a night’s work. doing what i don’t know. but as we were setting off i was like ‘so if you’re going to work… and i’m going to work…..#and our roommate is in there passed out drunk…… who’s in charge of the kids??’ and she was like ‘sam :)’#i was like ‘your five year old son sam?’ and she was like ‘yep :) they’ll just sleep anyway. they’ll be fine’#i was like uhhhh. i don’t think that’s right. but i couldn’t convince her to stay and i felt like i couldn’t cancel my shift for some reason#also worth mentioning: there was torrential rain happening. there was a strong possibility that our house would flood. i think the area#i slept in had actually already flooded? so that should’ve meant we couldn’t get to work anyway#but we were still planning on going for some reason. before we left she did go knock on our roommate’s door and was like ‘hey btw if the#kids do anything; you don’t have to sort them out but can you please call our landlord so he can come over and sit with them? thanks’#the roommate agreed. and it seemed like she had an agreement with the landlord. this is obviously ridiculous but my friend is soooo good#with people. i guarantee she’d manage to set up some absurd arrangement like this where her landlord would somehow be doing childcare#for her and still not adding to the rent#anyway the dream ended with us driving to work in a CONVERTIBLE (neither of us own one) that was slowly but surely filling up with rainwater#from the torrential storm. it was starting to resemble a capsizing boat#whole time my friend’s looking at me like that meme of pedro pascal grinning and driving#somehow simultaneously the most ridiculous dream ever and the most accurate depiction of what would happen if me and her ever lived together#i mean not the child endangerment. she would never. she ended an abusive relationship i never thought she’d end in order to protect that kid#and not the convertible. she exclusively drives vans. the rest though??? yeah#personal

Late Nights Under the Stars
Fem!Reader
Summary: Two-night owls flirt under the stars before heading to bed to get some sleep.
Words: 711
AN: I haven’t posted a fic since July 2021. uhhhh crochet took over me a bit. But I swear I’ve been writing in the background. I’ve been trying to write a fic for this man since he was announced as a real character and not just an npc.
"How long have you been sitting out here?"
Y/N turned her head around looking behind herself to see Ayato standing behind her. He was already dressed for bed. It felt like a first. Usually, Y/N was asking Ayato how long he had been sitting at his desk.
"I couldn't sleep. I just felt too warm and cramped up in the room. I've just been staring at the sky trying to map out the stars. I think the only thing I've been able to map is where the moon is."
Ayato smiled, shaking his head. He sat next to Y/N on the stairs of the Kamisato Estate. "Has it helped to clear your mind?"
"A little bit. I think it reminded me how small we are in the grand scheme of everything. With all the stars in the sky you know there are probably planets circling those stars." Y/N was focused on the sky once again. "I mean just think about it. We can't be alone in the universe since there's Lumine. I just wonder how many worlds there are out there."
"So in other words, it has not helped you clear your mind."
"Yeah." Y/N laid her head against Ayato’s shoulder.
Ayato put an arm around her, pulling her close. "It's good I came out here. I think you would have started an existential crisis in Thoma."
"Just Thoma? Not Ayaka?"
"Yes. Ayaka would have dragged you back inside already the moment you started rambling."
Y/N laughed. "Oh, would she now?"
"She's forced me to rest more times than the stars you've been counting. You can only protest her so much." Ayato spoke from experience yet proud of her behavior.
"So what would she do if she found us out here?"
"Maybe say I'm being a bad influence on you."
"I don't think you are being a bad influence. I've always been a night owl. I'd still be doing this even without you here. I think whoever I ended up with would have to deal with me being like this."
Ayato laughed. "You make it sound like it's a burden."
"I didn't mean to make it sound like a burden. I'm just tired. I can't word right at the moment."
"Let's get you to bed then. As much as I love all sides of you. I don't think the world is ready for such poetry of 'Can't word right'. You might be considered a genius and then how would I be able to see you then?" Ayato stood up and held a hand out.
Y/N took his hand helping her get off the seat of the stairs. "I'd run away every night, crawl next to you in bed and tell you how much of a nuisance it is to have the world consider you a genius."
Ayato didn't let go of her hand as they walked to the front door of the estate. "And what if you were sent off to another country?"
"I would make them think I'm so lovesick that they would ship me back home. And when I set foot back in Inazuma I would tell them they fell for my trap. Cause I do my best thinking with you."
"Sounds convincing to me." Ayato opened up the door to the estate letting Y/N walk in before himself. He closed the door behind him making sure it was locked before continuing on to their shared room.
"Perfect. Even though I don't think anyone would mistake me for a genius it's good to have a plan in place."
"Not sure. You're already planning ahead for theatricals. Exactly what a genius would do."
Y/N laughed. "Of course, you would know that. Must you forget, my only talents have been anything but traditional book smarts? I was made for the arts."
"Still requires some sort of brains. Even then it's easy to tell you were made for the arts when you look like someone brought a wood carving to life."
"And you say I need sleep. I think you're trying to romance me all over again."
"And if I am?"
"Then I feel bad for whoever overhears you flirt because I'm not stopping you." Y/N had planted a kiss on his cheek before heading towards their bedroom.
“I would hope not.”

ICU
JJ Maybank x Fem! Reader
Warnings: None
Author’s note: Hey!! I’m new into the OBX fandom. I fell in love with JJ and I wrote this quick thing :) Also, this happens in between them finding out John B is alive and them reuniting in Charleston.
Summary: Based on ICU by Phoebe Bridgers
Tumblr media
The grass was cold against her warm sun-kissed skin. Y/N was lying on the front lawn of her house as JJ tried to pick the lock of the front door of her shitty house. What started out as an innocent get together at the Chateau had quickly turned into drinking, smoking, and a late night swim. It was around 2am when everyone left and JJ offered to walk her home, he had decided it wouldn’t be safe for her to walk alone even though it was just a couple of blocks and she had done it a million times before.
“JJ, leave it. I’m tired and I wanna sleep. I’ll just sleep outside,” Y/N groaned. “...or climb the window.”
They had been stuck outside of her house for about an hour trying to open a door. Her Mom was working a night shift and she couldn’t find her keys anywhere, after retracing her steps she deemed it a lost cause but JJ insisted he could pick the lock and asked for her hairpin. At first she stood beside him, even tried to do it herself, but after the first 30 minutes she decided there was no point in trying the impossible. However, JJ wouldn’t budge. He was convinced she had used a hidden key a few years ago to get them inside.
“You are not climbing anything, okay? You’re still drunk.” JJ placed his hands on his hips, his eyebrows furrowed and his hair slightly messy.
“I’ll just wait here until I feel fine enough to climb,” She insisted.
He sighed, before walking away from the front door towards her, “Okay, fine.”
She was about to say goodbye when JJ laid down next to her.
“I’ll wait with you.”
“JJ,” She said firmly, “Go home. You need to rest, you have work in like 4 hours.”
Their shoulders were just barely touching as they laid side by side, face turned so they could see each other.
“What if a bear attacks you?” he said.
“A bear? In the Outer banks?” He nodded. She rolled her eyes and laughed, “If a bear was to attack me right now I don’t think you’d be able to stop it. Leave and save yourself.”
“I totally would. You’re acting like I haven’t saved you before.”
“Please tell me when you’ve saved me.”
JJ shifted his body to be fully facing her. “That one time you fell off the swing and I carried you home.”
“That was like ten years ago-”
“When you almost drowned that one time last summer. When you fell from your bike. Yesterday, you made me go to your house to kill a spider. Uhhhh - Rafe! That’s a big one. Fought him for your honor. ”
“You got knocked out.”
“Yeah, after saving you!” He touched his chin with his pointer finger, “Let’s see what else.”
“Stop!” She was laughing, he wouldn’t stop naming the most random things he had done throughout the many years they had been friends.
“When you didn’t write that essay for Terry’s class, I called you in sick. Took the blame for the weed your mom found in your room, saved you from that too. When your tire popped in the middle of nowhere and John B and I drove all the way and fixed it. That one time you got so drunk I snuck you into-”
“Okay! Okay! I get it! You’re my knight and shining armor and I can’t be without you. Please stay.”
His eyes softened, “Always.”
He laid back down and a comfortable silence fell over them. They both looked up to the sky. It was a clear night, and they could see the bright stars shining above them. The only thing that could be heard was their breathing and grasshoppers chirping, but neither felt the need to say anything. They didn’t have to.
She was close with the other Pogues, of course, but it was different between her and JJ. They had always been comfortable around each other, no need to pretend. In many ways he knew her better than anyone else, even herself. To her, JJ was it. She had been in love with him since she was old enough to think and for a long time she thought maybe it could be mutual. That somehow JJ Maybank could love her back.
The last couple of months had been crazy, between finding the ship, gold, and John B being declared dead. But even with all the craziness, Y/N had never felt more alive, for the first time she was doing things for herself and not thinking about work and her mom. Somehow this summer had brought them closer together and things began to change between them. Stolen glances, lingering touches, excuses to be together for longer...everything was great but she couldn’t help but want more.
“I feel like I didn’t start living until a few months ago,” Y/N broke the silence. JJ looked at her slightly confused.
“What do you mean?”
“Like I’ve been dead for years, you know? Not literally, but I was always pretending to be someone I’m not. But not anymore.” Not with you. “Like my life began the moment that we found that boat. I mean, sure the whole thinking-John-B-was-dead thing was horrible but it led to kinda great things and for the first time in so long I feel happy. But I’m so scared that things will suck again.”
She paused but JJ didn’t say anything, he just stared at her. Suddenly she felt stupid for opening her mouth.
“I’m sorry that makes no sense. I’m just thinking out loud. It’s probably the alcohol.”
“No, no. That makes all the sense in the world,” JJ sat up, “It’s like everything is so great now and I feel like it won’t last or that I’ll ruin it the way I always ruin things.”
“You don’t ruin things. Don’t say that,” She sat up and looked at him with so much care. How could he ever think that?
“Yeah, well, that’s not what my Dad thinks,” he said, “He always goes on about how I ruined his life and how I don’t have a future or that I’ll end up in jail.”
“I hate your Dad,” she said and she meant it. She hated the way he talked to him, she hated having to ice the bruises he’d give him. “Don’t listen to him. He has no idea what he is talking about.”
He avoided her eyes and started picking the grass. “I don’t know about that.”
“Hey,” She gently cupped his face so that he was facing her, “I mean it. You’re amazing, JJ.”
“How do you know?” He asked.
“I see you,” Y/N said without a second of thought, “The way you truly are and it’s great.”
They stayed like that for a few moments, just looking at each other. Their eyes saying everything they didn’t have the courage to say. They had never been this close before, faces just inches away. She could see every detail of his face. How beautiful he was, the way his hair fell perfectly, a small scar on his forehead, his lips.
JJ looked down for a second before looking at her again, “That feeling that everything might go wrong… it disappears when I’m with you. I get the opposite actually, like everything might be okay.”
“Me too.” She spoke barely above a whisper.
Slowly, like gravity on a feather, they started leaning towards each other. Hesitation on both sides, knowing that kissing could change everything. That finally they could be transparent about their feelings, about how mad they are for each other, about how the real fear is about losing each other. Their noses touched, she could feel him breathing, his shaking hand came up to cup her neck. Y/N was leaning into his lips when suddenly he jerked away, his hand dropping.
Y/N was stunned. She couldn’t move, she couldn’t think. All she felt was her heart breaking as tears of humiliation and sadness filled her eyes.
“I’m sorry,” JJ said as he ran his hand through his hair, “I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay.” She said quietly, hoping her voice wouldn’t crack.
“No, it’s not. I always do this, I always ruin things. I’m sorry,” His voice rose a little bit, he was frustrated. He took a deep breath and said,  “You’re my friend. I don’t wanna lose you.”
“You won't,” Y/N said after a few moments of silence. She had decided that the only thing worse than JJ not loving her back would be to lose him completely. Having him as a friend would be better than not having him at all. “You’re my knight and shining armor, remember?”
“You don’t need me to protect you.”
“Maybe,” she felt her chest tighten, “But I like it when you do.”
“Yeah?” His voice was soft and vulnerable.
“Yeah. You just have to learn how to punch better and forget the gun.”
JJ laughed, “I’ll work on it just for you.”
“Good.” She smiled at him.
Silence fell over them, only this time it was different. The things left unsaid and undone lingered in the air. Regret and curiosity plagued their mind. They became aware of their surroundings. Sitting further from each other than they usually would, heavy eyelids due to the lack of sleep, the warm summer breeze that wrapped around them and the lack of darkness as the horizon turned into shades of oranges and pinks.
“I should probably go to bed,” she said, looking at the sky.
“Can we just stay here for a little bit?” JJ’s voice was small, like he was afraid of asking.
He let out a breath of relief when she nodded. They laid on the ground again, shoulders barely brushing, hands millimeters away; so close yet so far away.

Tumblr media
pairing: spiderman!riki x fem!reader
summary: imagine being a literal superhero who fights criminals and still not having the guts to confess to your crush. riki can relate.
warnings: cursing, kissing, and riki being an absolute mess.
word count: 3,095
note: this was originally going to be a very long one-shot, but i couldn’t stand to make this any longer than it already is so uhhhh expect part 2 soon i guess?? also i wrote this with may @tyunni in mind. love u babe 😘💕
Tumblr media
“I just don’t get why you can’t even talk to her, Riki. I mean I talk to her everyday, and she’s really cool. Can’t you at least try to start a conversation with her?”
Sunoo had officially lost his mind.
Sure, you weren't completely unapproachable, and you had never just straight up ignored anyone, but Riki’s problem went a little beyond that. Very beyond that. So far beyond that he could barely see it.
It’s not like he hasn’t tried to talk to you before. It’s just that he always manages to make himself look like an idiot when he does.
Had Sunoo already forgotten the bee incident from several months ago? Riki couldn’t even think about you without blushing for days after that.
Tumblr media
“No dude, cause bees are like-” Riki had stopped mid-sentence as soon as he saw you walking up to him and Sunoo. You were smiling.
You had such a pretty smile.
“Hey, Sunoo. Hey, Riki.” You’d said. Sunoo greeted you with a simple ‘Hi, Y/N!’ like any normal person would, but the only thing Riki managed to say was–
“Bee.”
You frowned and looked around. “What? Where?
If Riki hadn’t been so tongue tied he would’ve tried explaining to you that he really didn’t mean to say that. He just was so dazed from seeing your smile this close that his throat was suddenly dry and he managed to forget every word he ever learned. And not to mention the fact that you actually said something to him. You even knew his name.
But alas, all he could do was stand there as the silence lasted longer and longer, and the air turned more awkward by the second.
“Don’t worry, it’s gone now. Probably saw a flower somewhere. Or something.” Sunoo finally said, in a desperate attempt to save Riki, who only managed a pathetic nod as his face grew more and more red. He definitely resembled a tomato at this point.
You didn’t look very convinced but nodded nonetheless. “Right…”
Riki had never wished for the ability to turn invisible more than now.
“Anyway, uh, Riki, you dropped your pencil case down the hall.” You handed it to him and he took it with what he hoped was a grateful smile, but from Sunoo’s pained expression, most definitely looked like a grimace instead. “I guess I’ll see you around...” You waved at them and walked away, and from the corner of his eye, Riki could see Sunoo turning to him slowly with a disbelieving stare.
“Riki… what was that?” Sunoo asked, looking as if he was feeling real, physical pain. “I’ve never felt so embarrassed before. And I didn’t even do anything!”
“Excuse me, I need to go cry in the bathroom for a while.” Riki said, slamming his locker door and wishing more than anything else that it was socially acceptable to bury oneself alive.
Tumblr media
“Just give it up already dude. I always embarrass myself when I get close to her, so I’ll just look at her being beautiful and perfect until we graduate, and then I’ll never see her again.” Riki said resolutely as they walked to their next class. “I forget how to be a normal person when I’m around her so why even try?”
“Come on Riki!” Sunoo groaned, dramatic as ever. “Just try to talk to her? Please? She’s so nice, and funny, and cute, and everything you've dreamed about.” He sighed and shook his head. “You're starting to make me sad, you know. You’ve liked her for a year now, you can’t just give up like that.”
In theory, what Sunoo was suggesting was rather simple, but in reality it just wasn’t.
The truth was, Riki lost control of himself whenever he got near you. He would get butterflies, his palms would start sweating, and it got hard to breathe. He wished he knew how to act like a regular person around you, but no matter how hard he tried, it was impossible.
It seemed his crush on you was meant to stay just that.
A crush.
Tumblr media
You had no idea why Nishimura Riki hated you. You’d been nothing but nice to him and yet whenever you tried to talk to him he looked like he’d just eaten something sour, and that he couldn’t wait for you to leave him alone.
Which really sucked considering you had the biggest crush on him since the world was created. Well, actually it had only been since you guys started high school, which was almost two years ago, but it may as well have been forever.
You and Sunoo had been seatmates in History since the beginning of the year, and though the two of you had only said the occasional ‘hi’ in passing before that, you’d like to think that you were somewhat close friends now.
He always greeted you, and you texted each other quite often. He was funny, and dramatic, and overall just a really great friend. You were happy you two got close.
If only his (extremely cute) best friend would stop acting like he was about to throw up any time you came near him, things would've been perfect.
You didn’t want to stop being friends with Sunoo, and you didn’t want to feel uncomfortable when you talked to him just because he was with Riki all the time. There were days you wanted to sit with him at lunch and talk, seeing as that was the only time you could really do so at school, but Riki’s unwelcoming attitude stopped you every time.
It was time for this nonsense to stop.
If he didn't like you, fine. Whatever. Sure you weren’t happy about it, but crushes, even ones you’ve had for two years, would go away.
You just wished he would stop being so obviously mean about it. You knew he’d been friends with Sunoo since forever, but Sunoo was your friend too. Losing him just because one of his other friends was jealous and didn’t like you was stupid and unnecessary.
Which was why you decided to ask Sunoo if there was some way you make things better between you and Riki so could at least be around him and Sunoo without him waiting very impatiently for you to leave, or being outright ignored
“So, Sunoo…” You said, keeping your eyes on the book you had opened and trying to sound as nonchalant as possible. “Is it alright if I ask you a question?” You asked, suddenly feeling nervous.
“Yeah, go ahead.” He answered, glancing at you.
“Why does…Riki hate me so much?” Sunoo froze as soon as the words left your lips, and you couldn’t help but regret asking him at all. You should've just kept your mouth shut.
“I’m sorry, what?” He asked, his eyes wide.
You started messing with the corner of the pages on your book so you wouldn’t have to look Sunoo in the eyes. “I mean, he hasn’t really tried to keep it a secret or anything. With him always looking so uncomfortable around me and stuff, you know. And I don’t know if it’s something I did or said, I just-” You sighed. “I just don’t want the fact that he doesn’t like me to come in between us and make you stop being friends with me.”
Sunoo closed his eyes and sighed deeply before turning to you with a bright smile. “Don’t worry, I promise it’s nothing you did. In fact, I’ll talk to him about it later, okay?”
“Oh no- Sunoo- I- You don’t have to do that, really.” You shook your head. Somehow you felt like Sunoo talking to Riki about you would lead to him finding out about your crush. Which was definitely the last thing you wanted.
“Really, it’s no problem Y/N. And I won’t tell him you asked, if that’s what you’re worried about.”
Of course that’s what you were worried about. “Yeah, I’d appreciate that.”
The bell rang, and the two of you started to pack up your things. Before Sunoo left he made sure to give you a bright smile. “I’ll give you a report later, okay?”
You nodded gratefully, and started to mentally prepare yourself to find out the reason the boy you liked so much hated your guts.
What a fun day.
Tumblr media
“You dumbass! You absolutely moronic, idiotic, selfish dickhead!”
Sunoo was charging towards him, completely ignoring all the weird looks he was getting from the other students in the hall, and Riki suddenly feared for his life.
“I’m going to kill you.” He said once he was close enough that he no longer needed to shout.
“Why? What did I do?” Riki couldn’t think of anything he’d done to upset Sunoo recently, at least not to warrant this kind of reaction.
“Oh nothing. You didn’t do a single thing. And that is the whole problem, stupid.” Sunoo slammed his locker shut, and Riki jumped in surprise and slight fear at the look on his friend’s face. “Because apparently Y/N thinks you hate her-“
“She what?!” Riki would later deny how squeaky his voice was, or that even shrieked at all, but at that moment he was too shocked to feel embarrassed about it. How could the love of his life think he hated her?
“–and she doesn’t talk to me or sit with us for lunch because she doesn’t want to make you uncomfortable. I’ve had to deal with your teenage angsty ass by myself for months now all because you can’t grow a pair and confess to the girl you like, which made her think you dislike her.” Sunoo shook his head and placed his hands on his hips, making himself resemble something of a disappointed mother. “Shame on you.”
“Oh no, oh no, oh no…” Riki muttered under his breath while running his hands through his hair, messing it up quite thoroughly. “How could she think I hate her? She makes me go crazy just by being near me! She’s practically the love of my life!”
“You’re hopeless, you know that? Absolutely hopeless.”
Riki stopped his mental breakdown long enough to glare at Sunoo. “Wow. Thanks. I feel better already.”
“Shut up, brat.” Sunoo rolled his eyes. “If you weren’t so hopeless I wouldn’t be offering my help, now would I?”
Riki nodded. “Right. Right. Okay, this could be good. What if– what if maybe you tell her to eat lunch with us sometime? And like, I’m just shy? And that I don’t dislike her at all?”
“You’re not that shy, Riki. Y/N would never believe that.” Sunoo huffed. “Plus that’ll just make her think she was being the weird one when she absolutely was not. Or worse, it’ll make her feel like she was forcing you to try and be friends with her. That’s an overall shitty plan, I’m not telling her that.”
“Okay Einstein, let’s hear your genius plan then.”
“Confess. Tell her the truth, and let her know how you really feel about her.”
Riki blinked. “That’s an awful idea. This whole thing started because I can’t talk to her. You think I could somehow magically come up with some romantic confession and sweep her off her feet?”
Sunoo crossed his arms. “Well not with that attitude you can’t.”
“I can’t do it with any attitude, Sunoo!” Riki threw his hands up, exasperated. “Did you somehow forget about every other time I tried saying something to her? The only thing that can come out of my mouth are keyboard smashes.”
“Okay, okay, fine. You’ve got a point. How about I tell her to meet with us after school tomorrow to hang out, and you just let me do the talking until you’re comfortable enough in her ‘glowing presence’ to say something that doesn’t make you sound like a complete and utter fool. Sound good?”
Riki contemplated it for a minute, and when he failed to come up with anything better, he nodded. “Fine. We’ll do that.”
Tumblr media
“Hey, Y/N. Y/N, hey. Yo Y/N what’s cookin’ homeskillet?” Riki felt like an idiot for literally practicing how to say hi, but it was you. The girl of his dreams that made him forget how to speak. He knew he would need all the practice he could get. With one last glance in the mirror, he sighed and grabbed his backpack.
It was going to be a rough day.
He didn’t feel confident about talking to you and he hated it. He was Spiderman, a literal superhero who’d had multiple near-death experiences, and yet he still couldn’t even talk to the girl he liked.
How pathetic could someone get?
The day seemed to go by extra fast, and before he knew it, school was over and it was time to face his biggest fear.
As he walked to the park Sunoo had said you’d meet at, Riki could feel his stomach twisting and his palms getting sweaty. Great. He hadn’t even seen you and he was already turning into a mess.
Which only got worse when he caught sight of you sitting underneath one of the trees, drawing something in a notebook.
“H-Hey Y/N.”
Riki didn’t think his voice had ever been weaker, but by some miracle you heard him and looked up with a smile, and suddenly Riki’s heart was beating ten times faster than it was before. You waved at him, and Riki was sure that he looked like a lovesick idiot (which according to Sunoo, he was).
Just as you were about to open your mouth in reply, Riki’s phone went off, alerting him that he had gotten a text.
He smiled sheepishly. “Sorry, let me just…” He motioned awkwardly to his phone, missing the way your face had fallen.
[sunoo 🙄]:
sry, can’t make it to the park 2day
use this chance to clear things up with y/n
or else
Fuck. Fuckfuckfuckfuck.
How on earth did Sunoo expect him to be able to talk to you by himself?
“Is everything okay?”
Riki’s head snapped up to see you standing in front of him, a concerned look on your face.
Fuck. Shit. Okay. He could totally do this.
“Uhm, yeah. Just- That was Sunoo. Something came up so, uh he won’t be coming.”
You sighed, realizing what was going on, and rubbed your temples. “Of course he’s not.”
Clearly Sunoo had set all this up so the two of you could work things out on your own, but seeing as Riki hadn’t magically started liking you overnight, you didn’t see this ending well.
You gathered up as much courage as you could. “Look, Riki. I’m just gonna save us both a bunch of pain and unneeded awkwardness. I know you don’t like me, and that’s alright. I don’t want to force you or guilt trip you into spending time with me just so I can hang out with Sunoo. I’ll just…try to work out some other time with him so you don’t have to be around me.”
You started to pack your things into your backpack and Riki panicked.
“No- Wait Y/N- I don’t–” He rubbed his eyes and mumbled something under his breath.. “Listen, I don’t not like you.”
“What?” You were now extremely confused.
Riki just stared at you without saying anything for several minutes, and you couldn’t take it anymore. You picked up your backpack and started to walk away. “This is ridiculous. Bye Riki.”
“I have a huge, embarrassing crush on you, okay?!”
You froze, turning around to see Riki looking at you with wide, worried eyes.
“Excuse me?” You walked back to him slowly.
“I-I like you. I’ve liked you for like a year now and the reason I act so weird and stupid around you is because you make so nervous I can’t even talk. I mean you’re so gorgeous and sweet and smart and I’m just an idiot who can barely function and I just really-“
“Woah, woah, Riki, slow down.” You said, still in shock and trying to process everything he just said. “You… you like me? Like as in…”
“As in thinking about you all the time and wanting to kiss you and hold your hand and tell people I’m your boyfriend.”
“Wow. Okay, that’s- that’s a lot to take in.”
”I know. And I’m so sorry. I’m not expecting anything from you, and I know you don’t like me back but you deserve to know the truth and I-“
“Shut up.” You glared. “Who said I didn’t like you back? I’ve had a crush on you for two fucking years, dumbass!”
Riki’s mouth dropped. “You- You- Really?”
“Yes! If you had actually talked to me for more than five seconds before running away you would’ve seen how much I’m crazy about you.”
“Oh.”
You shook your head. “I can’t believe we’ve liked each other for this long and we’re just now telling each other.”
“I would’ve but I was so-“ Riki never managed to finish his sentence, because you suddenly grabbed both sides of his face and pulled him closer until your lips were pressed together. His gasp was muffled by your mouth, and it only took a second for his arms to wrapped around your waist, pulling you closer.
Your first kiss was better than anything you could’ve imagined.
Eventually you pulled away for air, and you couldn’t help but smile at his cute little pout, immediately giving him a peck to turn it into a smile.
Riki sighed and rested his head on your shoulder. “I can’t believe we could’ve been doing that for over a year now if I just hadn’t been so much of a coward.”
You nodded and started to run your hand through his hair, the other going down to rub his back. “Good things take time, I guess.”
“Still though,” he nuzzled his head into your neck and tightened his arms around you. “I’m sorry for being such an idiot.”
You couldn’t help but laugh. “It’s okay, baby. At least we managed to work everything out.”
Riki lifted his head and leaned in to give you another kiss, but before he could, your phone went off.
You sighed and reluctantly stepped away from him, taking out your phone and looking at the message you just received.
[sunoodle]:
so how are things going with riki….?
You rolled your eyes, deciding to ignore him for now. You had much more important things to do.
“Hey Riki,” You grabbed his hand and laced your fingers together. The way his face instantly lit up made you grin. “You wanna go on a date?”

Black sheep
pairing: Eddie munson x reader, Billy Hargrove x reader
Mentions: cursing, mentions of maybe cheating?, happy ending, heartbreak
Also Billy is kinda ooc in the sense of he isn’t racist, just a bully
You and Eddie broke up less than amicably, so when you run into him at the battle of the bands you feel all those emotions rise up again. This is inspired by Scott pilgrim
Tumblr media
“Aw shit” Eddie grumbled when he looked at the line of bands performing “what’s wrong dude?” Gareth asks over his shoulder “oh shit man” there in bold print was your bands name at the very top “when was the last time y’all saw each other” Jeff questions as he does a checklist of supplies “uhhhh when we broke up.. after that they kinda just disappeared I guess?” Eddie says remembering that day perfectly “they didn’t disappear dude you were just to busy with jinx to care” Gareth says nonchalantly tuning his base “hey man jinx is cool” Eddie defends trying to convince himself as well.
“What’s wrong Babe” Billy questions from behind you as you look at the flier “corroded coffins here” you groan as you crumble up the flier and throw it at the wall “Eddie’s shitty band?” Billy asks earning a glare from you “be nice billy” Billy just puts his hands up in defense and goes back to tuning his guitar “we’re gonna smoke em either way” he replies as he puts out the cigarette hanging from his lips “it’ll be okay babe” he kisses your forehead as you sigh drinking some water.
“Next up issss Demonhead!!” The announcer says as the spotlights come on illuminating your hand on stage. You take a deep breath then start singing the band following behind your vocals
Hello again, friend of a friend, I knew you when
Our common goal was waiting for the world to end
You make eye contact with Eddie who’s staring up at you wide eyed Jinx tucked under his arm trying to get his attention. You look at Billy who just gives you a nod as he keeps playing
Now that the truth is just a rule that you can bend
You crack the whip, shape-shift and trick the past again
You remember when jinx came into the picture. “Eddie she’s clearly in love with you” you shout at your then boyfriend who’s just sitting causally in his bed flipping through a magazine “no she isn’t your just being paranoid like always” he says not even bothering to look up at you. Now you were pissed “paranoid seriously Eddie fucking paranoid, Jinx is literally always all over you and you don’t do a damn thing!” You shout throwing something at him to get his attention “what the fuck!” He shouts “your fucking delusional” the minute the words came out of his mouth he wished he could’ve taken them right back “sweetheart I-“ he began “save it Eddie we’re done” with that you grabbed you jacket and stormed out of there past a confused uncle Wayne hoping he didn’t see you crying.
Eddie watched in awe at the way you commanded the crowd with just your voice alone before he turns to his girlfriend who was begging for attention “they suck don’t they” Jinx snarks thinking that’ll earn her brownie points from Eddie “yeah sure whatever” Eddie replies causing her to pout and cross her arms.
I'll send you my love on a wire
Lift you up, every time, everyone, ooh, pulls away, ooh
From you
You had given everything to Eddie, you protected him from bullies, let him stay at your house late at night, always helped him with his campaigns only for it all to be thrown away over a girl who faked everything she did just to get your boyfriends attention. You couldn’t help but glare at the two as the spotlights became red.
Got balls of steel, got an automobile, for a minimum wage
Got real estate, I'm buying it all up in outer space
Suddenly your not on the stage your in another memory. When you went to school that next week you avoided the hellfire club and Eddie like the plague not wanting to see Jinx’s stupid fake smile or her dumb ass fake giggle that she does “cmon just please come back Jinx is fucking weird” Gareth pleads from beside you at your locker “no Gareth, Eddie made his decision and I’ve made mine I’ll see y’all around” you slammed your locked turning away from the dejected hellfire group
Now that the truth is just a rule that you can bend
You crack the whip, shape-shift and trick the past again
You smile as Billy starts singing the background vocals pressing himself close to you as you played, you were grateful you met Billy when you did, he pulled you out of the mess eddie left you in when he started dating Jinx. You start remembering the first time you two ever talked. “hey I’m billy” he said smoothly think it’ll impress you, you gave him one look up at down “I don’t care” and with that you turned to start walking away from him before he caught your elbow “cmon give me a chance” he pleads feeling pathetic that you rejected him so quickly “I’ve heard all about you Hargrove and I want nothin to do with you” you rolled your eyes crossing your arms over your chest “what if I change then will you go out with me” he questions “maybe, see ya around Billy” you disappeared out of the door leaving a stunned Billy behind.
I'll send you my love on a wire
Lift you up, every time, everyone, ooh, pulls away, ooh
Eddie could feel the little green monster that was jealousy at the sight of you two staring so lovingly at each other up on stage. He though he was over you by now I mean he had Jinx..right…right he tried to convince himself as he imagined himself up there with you instead of Billy.
“Seriously Billy Hargrove?” Eddie whisper shouts after dragging you into an empty classroom “who I talk to and who I associate myself with is none of your fucking business Munson” you growl back trying to shove past him only for him to push you back. “Why Billy Hargrove he’s a piece of shit!” He shouts again getting in your face “HES CHANGED!” you have a finger in his chest chasing Eddie to take a step back giving you a confused look never having seen you this angry “What you want me to just stay single forever is that it? So that when shit doesn’t work out with Jinx you can just come crawling back to me?” You shout blood boiling “Well you can’t, you made your decision now live with it, now move Billy is driving me home” you leave Eddie there speechless broken hearted by something he caused.
It's a mechanical bull, the number one
You'll take a ride from anyone
Everyone wants a ride, pulls away, ooh, from you
Eddie couldn’t help but admire how beautiful you looked up on stage in your element forehead sweaty from the heat of the lights. The rest of corroded coffin cheered when you finished singing shouting your name to Jinx’s annoyance that the attention wasn’t on her anymore “Eddie” she said in a whiny voice trying to get his attention “what.” Eddie said bluntly never taking his eyes of you “pay attention to me” she whined stomping her foot like a child “no.” He said bluntly as she huffed but didn’t leave from beside him still clinging onto him.
Eddie made a lot of stupid decisions in his life his stupidest being losing you the coolest, realest person he knew, as more regret and jealousy building up in him while he watched you and Billy share a tender kiss backstage staring into each other’s eyes lovingly wishing that was him instead.

Prompt: Lena accidentally creates something that makes everyone attracted to her except kara (she is immune) basically jealous!kara 😬
Read on AO3 (Prompt from @urjustwaiting)
“My dearest Lena,” Brainy began, brown eyes bright and earnest as he cradled Lena’s hand in both of his like it was something precious and fragile, “I have always considered you to be my intellectual equal and a friend of the highest order. Recently, however, I have found my feelings of friendship for you have shifted - grown into something unexpected and wondrous.”
Brainy inhaled sharply, gathering his courage as Lena’s eyes widened with abject shock and horror at what was occurring.
“Lena Luthor, I have fallen irrevocably in love with you”, Briany declared confident and unfalteringly certain, “and I was wondering if I could spend time conversing with you over a sizeable meal?”
To say Lena’s day had started strangely would be the understatement of the century. She had arrived at the DEO following the news that there had been an attempted break-in last night at the secret facility that had been successfully fended off by Kara, Brainy, Nia and Andrea (the newest superhero to join the club).
Alex, who had taken her first night off since becoming director, had rushed onsite as soon as she was alerted to what had happened; her first order had been to bring Lena in to evaluate the building’s defenses and put in suitable improvements for any weaknesses identified. It was a sign of how much trust Lena had earned amongst the Superfriends, and more specifically Alex, that no one hesitated to call her in for help with something as sensitive as security flaws.
Lena had fought hard to earn back the trust she had nearly lost, rebuild the bridges both sides had burnt and therefore she didn’t balk at the ridiculously early wake-up call and did not even consider saying no to Alex’s request.
The second she arrived at the DEO, she knew something was off.
People were staring at her, which shouldn’t have been odd for a Luthor in the slightest but Lena was used to being ignored at the DEO. The agents milling the corridors would give fleeting glances and welcoming nods but nothing more - many of them owed their life to a last minute scientific breakthrough courtesy of Lena’s intellect and as such they respected her enough to treat her like she was one of them - like she belonged here - because of it. Walking into the DEO to find herself the subject of many furtive gazes and unsubtle wandering eyes was therefore worrisome to say the least.
Lena’s concern merely increased as she made her way further into the DEO where she couldn’t go more than a metre without being approached by agents trying out a cheesy pick-up line or inviting her to coffee/dinner. Two rather charming agents actually dropped down on one knee at the same time to propose to her there and then - Lena was saved from answering as her wannabe future spouses got into a fist fight. The worst one, by far, was Pam from HR who shouted that she was enthusiastically willing to bear all of Lena’s future children - Lena promptly sprinted into the command centre and had been momentarily relieved to see Brainy there waiting for her.
The relief was obviously dashed a minute later when Brainy grabbed her hand and sweetly announced his love for her.
“Brainy, what the hell!?”
Those were the exact words Lena had wanted to shout but had been unable to find her voice to do so, thankfully (or not so as the case may be), Nia had voiced them for her and was striding into the room with a furious expression on her face.
“Nia, it’s not what it looks like-” Lena rushed to reassure as Nia pushed her boyfriend away from the youngest Luthor.
“How could you?!” Nia demanded, rounding on the Coulan.
“Nia, I think there’s something wrong-” Lena began to interrupt, knowing how much Brainy loved Nia and her alarm bells from the agents earlier ringing loudly in her head when....
“I wanted to ask her out.” Nia exclaimed stamping her foot childishly before turning to face Lena with fluttering eyelashes and a seductive pout. “Lena, please my love is far more real than Brainy’s. Don’t go out with him.” Nia pleaded as Briany scoffed derisively behind her.
“Lena is smart enough to see through your fraudulent affection. She was on the precipice of accepting my offer of a date.” Briany cut in with a superior raise of his chin.
“No, she wasn’t!” Nia rebuked, turning back to Brainy with clenched fists.
“Yes, she was!” Brainy returned, chest puffing out as they both stepped forward as if to engage in battle when a sudden red and blue blur appeared between them as a physical barrier.
“What on Earth is going on?” Kara questioned, brow creased in confusion as she looked between the couple that seemed to be seconds away from trading blows.
“I LOVE LENA MORE!” They both shouted in answer whilst they simultaneously lunged towards one another.
“What?!” Kara gasped as she hurriedly tried to keep the two apart. “Lena?” Kara asked, wide-eyed and gobsmacked, clearly looking for an explanation.
“I don’t know!” Lena responded quick and panicked. “I came in and everyone’s been…”
“Everyone’s been what?” Kara prompted as she ducked a wild swing from a feisty Nia.
“Like this.” Lena gestured to Briany and Nia who were futilely trying to dodge around the kryptonian superhero.
Kara blinked rapidly at this information but reacted quickly, super speeding Brainy and Nia away from the command centre as carefully as she could. Kara was back less than a minute later, appearing harried and uncomfortable but she wasn’t looking at Lena any differently to normal. Soft blue eyes watched her the exact same way and as soon as she was back, she gently encouraged Lena into their standard hug with a light touch to her elbow.
Lena folded happy and willing into Kara’s arms burying her face into the kyrptonian’s shoulder as Kara gently stroked her back.
“So… interesting morning so far?” Kara teased managing to pull forth a relieved chuckle from the CEO.
“You could say that.” Lena sighed, letting her eyes slip closed for a fleeting second as she quickly inhaled Kara’s familiar airy scent before pulling away and putting her armour back on. “I seem to have suddenly become irresistible to everyone here.” Lena explained, nearly convincing herself that she saw a flash of a sad pout on her best friend’s face when she ended their hug. “Except for you, of course.” Lena clarified.
“Well… uh… I…” Kara stammered, face blushing a bright red as she self-consciously rubbed the back of her neck.
“Don’t worry, Kara, I’m not offended.” Lena reassured, giving Kara an out even as it caused her heart to painfully twinge with a familiar loss and yearning that always accompanied the realisation that Kara would never see her the same way.
“Lena-” Kara began, lips pressed tight together as she took a tentative step forward.
“Lena, there you are!”
Kara and Lena’s heads turned immediately to see Andrea striding into the room, dressed to impress in a tight black dress and red soled heels that drew attention to her long, sinful legs.
“Oh, dear…” Lena murmured, swallowing thickly, as Andrea approached with a dark predatory gaze that promised to fulfill all of Lena’s long forgotten teenage fantasies.
Lena was so fixated on the sight of her first crush looking like she was about to devour her right there in the DEO command centre that she didn’t see the heavy frown form on Kara’s face, nor the way blue eyes flickered red for a flash.
The sound of a rumbling growl was the only thing that broke through Lena’s stupor and pre-empted a red-blue blur sweeping Andrea out of the room, presumably to deposit her in the same place as Brainy and Nia.
“Was that your stomach?” Lena asked when Kara reappeared a few moments later.
“Was what my stomach?”
“That growling noise?” Lena inquired with a tilt of her head.
“Uhhhh….” Kara’s mouth opened and closed, the tips of her ears turning red before she nodded her head in jerky agreement. “Yep, stomach, super hungry, no breakfast.”
“You must be, you’re dropping verbs.” Lena joked.
“Uh huh.” Kara muttered, shifting her weight nervously from foot to foot as she intermittently shot discouraging glares to any agents that looked like they were even considering coming up to Lena. “Do you have any idea what’s causing this?” Kara questioned, placing her hands on her hips and trying to ease into her Supergirl persona.
“No.” Lena answered honestly.
“Were you exposed to anything? Or working with anything that might have caused something like this?” There was no accusation within the questions, just genuine curiosity and a desire to work through the possible causes. Lena didn’t doubt Kara’s trust in her, not after everything they had been through.
“No.” Lena replied after thinking carefully.
“You were here yesterday and everyone was fine.” Kara rationalised, “So it must have happened since you left.”
“Kara, I didn’t do anything after I left. I went home, watched a documentary, had a bath and went to bed as I promised you.”
Lena’s work hours since re-taking L-Corp as her own had exploded and her rare free time was regularly being utilised to support the Superfriends. Lena had spent yesterday tweaking Kara’s supersuit to improve its diagnostic capabilities to provide Kara an edge when flying into an unknown situation. It had taken Kara forcibly frog marching her out of the building and using her puppy dog eyes to get Lena to promise that she would finally go home and relax.
“Good girl.” Kara said, softening immediately at Lena’s answer, blue eyes twinkling with pride.
Lena internally screamed at herself to keep her praise kink under tight control.
“Then maybe something happened overnight? Or whilst you were on your way in?” Kara continued to theorise allowing Lena much needed time to regain her cool.
“Unlikely,” Lena replied thoughtfully, “I stopped for coffee on my way in and no one there acted oddly. It wasn’t until I got to the DEO that things changed.”
“Then-”
“SOMETHING WEIRD IS GOING ON!” Alex announced as she strode in, practically snarling at the agents that were working at their consoles, all of whom had looked a second away from getting to their feet and rushing eagerly towards the older Danvers as soon as she appeared.
Kara, meanwhile, instantly moved to be slightly in front of Lena like a personal shield ready to jump forward but careful not to overstep and diminish the CEO’s autonomy - Lena couldn’t help how her heart fluttered at Kara’s mindful concern.
“Are you in love with Lena too?” Kara challenged, narrowing her gaze at her sister.
Alex came to a sharp and sudden stop, jaw dropping open as she looked between Kara and Lena, “Too?” Alex echoed, and Lena watched in confusion as a slow and incredibly bright grin appeared to light up the Director’s face. “Did you finally-”
“BrianyandNiaareinlovewithLena!” Kara yelled, panicked and fast paced, hands flapping wildly at her sides.
The smile vanished alongside whatever Alex had been about to say. “I’m sorry, did you say Brainy and Nia are in love with Lena?”
“Yep.” Kara popped as she let out an unusually large sigh of relief that made Lena think she may have missed something important in the sister’s aborted interaction. “As well as nearly all the DEO agents, but no one from the coffee shop so we think it's localised to here which is weird because we can’t seem to find a potential cause that would explain that.” Kara rambled, clearly intent on brushing over whatever had just happened. “Therefore I asked if you were in love with Lena like Briany, Nia and Andrea.” Kara explained placing unnecessary emphasis on their friends' names.
Alex glanced from Kara to Lena, frowning heavily, “Sorry Lena but I’m quite happily taken.”
“Shame.” Lena tsked, earning her an affectionate eye roll from the redhead, before being struck by a sudden realisation. “Wait, then why were you coming in yelling that something weird is going on if you didn’t know about me?”
Alex shot a look over her shoulder before moving closer to the other two and dropping her voice to a conspiratorial whisper, “People are being… ‘overly friendly’ to me.”
Kara and Lena shared a look.
“Hey!” Alex snapped, bringing guilty green and blue eyes back to her. “I’m being serious here!”
“So by ‘overly friendly’ you mean…” Lena prompted.
“People keep trying to hug me and ask me how my day is going. And they keep… complimenting me.” Alex whispered like she was sharing some heinous crimes.
Both Kara and Lena’s eye muscles twitched with the desire to share another look but they managed to resist - just.
“It’s weird.” Alex defended haughtily. “Yesterday, they were too scared to look me in the eye for longer than a second and now they can’t go ten seconds without giving me a motivational speech about how good a job I’m doing.”
“It could be worse.” Lena said trying to be comforting,
“How?” Alex huffed.
“Well, Pam from HR told me she wanted to bear my children.” Lena said with a shrug that was immediately followed by a loud CRUNCHING noise.
Lena turned to find the source of the ear-splitting sound only to discover that the round titanium table Kara had been leaning against was now heavily crumpled around two tightly clenched kryptonian fists.
“Kara?” Lena squeaked whilst Alex merely face-palmed.
***
“It doesn’t make sense.” Lena mused, unknowingly posed like ‘The Thinking Man’ on the stool as Alex and Kara paced the space.
They had made the wise decision to move to what was considered Lena’s lab at the DEO to free themselves of the foot traffic of the command centre that had both Danvers sisters glowering at any agents that dared to approach (though for vastly different reasons).
“What are you thinking Luthor?” Alex asked, plopping herself down heavily on the stool by the CEO.
“Disparate pieces that don’t logically fit together.” Lena murmured quietly more to herself than to the other two before she lifted her head and tried to slowly talk through what her mind was attempting to process. “Whatever happened, clearly happened in the last,” Lena glanced at her watch, grimacing at the time as her head pounded with lack of sleep, “eight hours. I left here at six yesterday and no one was acting any differently to normal. Whatever has happened changes people’s behaviour towards us.” Lena gestured between herself and Alex, “but only us. And whatever is doing it is localised to the DEO.”
Lena paused, giving the sisters a chance to disagree with her assertion of facts, both Danvers nodded in agreement and encouragement to continue.
“Therefore, we have two options:” Lena continued, laying out the two theories she was working with, “either something happened at the DEO that is causing this and we are merely triggers for it. Or something happened specifically to us and being here is triggering it.”
Alex pursed her lips, thinking carefully through Lena’s logic, “Which do you think is more likely?”
“Something happening at the DEO.” Lena answered with a shrug, “One target, one location, rather than two is more straightforward.”
“Agreed.” Alex sighed, “And we know something did happen after we both left last night.”
“The attempted break in.” Lena concurred.
Alex nodded, shifting to face the kryptonian who had been listening intently to the conversation, “Kara, give us a rundown of what happened.”
Kara frowned, hands moving to rest on her hips in classic Supergirl pose, “It was just dumb thugs looking to make a quick buck. They’d stumbled upon some alien tech that they knew fetched a good price on the black market. Rather than sell it quickly and get away with it, they got greedy. They knew more tech was held here and figured they could double their profits if they used the tech they already had to pull off a heist.”
“I want it noted that the DEO is the worst kept secret in this city,” Lena snarked, with a roll of her eyes, “and that’s saying something considering Supergirl's disguise is a pair of glasses.”
“Noted,” Alex grunted, shooting the youngest Luthor a smug smirk, “which is why making it your job to fix that for us.”
Lena chuckled darkly, “You couldn’t afford my consultation fees.”
Alex’s smugness increased tenfold at that, her chin lifting defiantly as she laid down her ace, “That’s why I’m making Kara be the one to ask you.”
Lena gasped, utterly outraged, “You underhanded-“
“Guys, focus!” Kara bellowed, clapping her hands loudly together to break the two of them out of their regular snarky banter that could go on for a good hour if not interrupted quickly (it was how they showed their affection for one another).
“Right.”
“Sorry.”
Alex and Lena murmured apologetically, gazes dropping to the floor as Kara shook her head in amusement at their familiar antics.
“What tech did they use?” Alex questioned, bringing them back on track.
“Stupid gas.”
Lena’s brow furrowed at the response and Alex’s aggrieved grunt that followed it, “I’m sorry, what?”
“It’s a bio weapon that makes-“
“People stupid?” Lena guessed.
“Hyper emotional, but… yeah.” Alex clarified, “Like when I was exposed to it, I just laughed for like an hour straight.”
Lena hummed thoughtfully, brain whirring away to make connections with this new information, “Are kryptonians immune?”
“No.” Alex laughed, earning her a pout from the Super that made Lena take a mental note to beg Kara for the obvious story behind it another time.
“Then why isn’t Kara affected by all of this?” Lena questioned, throwing in the other variable they hadn’t considered.
“Now that you mention it, the stupid gas didn’t work on me last night.”
Alex’s face scrunched up in confusion, “It did last time.”
Kara shrugged, seemingly unconcerned, “I think Lena’s upgraded suit protected me.”
“My upgraded…” Lena began slowly, her eyes suddenly going wide as she recognised the suit Kara was currently wearing to be the one she had been tinkering with all day yesterday, “Kara, I told you not to wear that yet. I hadn’t finished tweaking it!”
Kara winced at the sharp tone, hands flying up in supplication and surrender, as she whined defensively, “It worked perfectly Lena.”
“That’s not the point-“ Lena rebuked, crossing her arms aggressively causing the superpowered alien to shrink under her green-eyed glare.
“Kara’s not affected...” Alex murmured, though her voice was quiet there was something sharp to her tone that cut through the room - it was the tone that preceded a ‘Eureka’.
“Alex?” Kara and Lena both prompted.
“I have an idea.” Alex announced jumping to her feet, and snatching up her jacket, “I need to test something out.”
“Okay, what are you thinking?” Kara called out as Alex rushed out of the lab.
“I’m thinking that I’m grateful I memorised the number of that twenty four hour Chinese takeaway.”
***
Lena and Alex stood back and watched in complete horror as the DEO agents ravaged the table loaded up with potstickers, stuffing their mouths with ten at a time and throwing punches over the last handfuls. They had to forcibly pull Kara away from the scene who twitched with the obvious desire to throw herself into the mix to get a share for herself.
“I don’t understand.” Kara wailed, stamping her foot pathetically, once they had returned to the lab.
“Oh my god.” Lena muttered, snatching up the tablet she had been using yesterday and scrolling through everything she had done to Kara’s suit, leaving the explanation task to the older Danvers.
“They’re feeling what you feel.” Alex announced, “Lena and I aren’t the catalyst. You are.”
Kara’s crinkle appeared and deepened.
“It’s why everyone has been so friendly to Alex.” Lena mumbled, taking over the explanation absentmindedly as she distractedly ran through data, looking between the suit upgrades and the specification of ‘Stupid Gas’. “They feel your sisterly love for her and are treating her like you would but to an extreme degree. It must be because of their exposure to the gas mixed with some upgrade I put into your suit.” Lena frowned, mind running a mile a minute, “I fitted in further diagnostic capabilities that might be able to identify biological toxins and alert you, but-“ Lena froze, head snapping upwards to stare dumbly at her best friend, her entire brain grinding to a dead halt.
“Lena?” Kara inquired, blue eyes instantly glowing with concern at Lena’s absolute stillness and dead-eyed stare.
Alex nudged Kara’s side and whispered helpfully, “I think she’s just realised.”
“Realised what?”
Alex directed a soft and understanding smile at her sister, “How people have been acting towards her and what that means…”
“Oh…” Kara squeaked, paling considerably and breath held tight as she waited for Lena to finally react.
“You want to bear my children?!” Lena yelled incredulously, shattering the awkward silence with that explosive revelation.
Kara’s entire body flushed crimson, as she spluttered out (unable to stop herself), “Ummm… I mean… Preferably after a few dates…”
“Annnnnnd that’s my cue…” Alex announced, turning on her heel sharply and marching out of the room.
Lena blinked repeatedly, still not fully rebooted from this turn of events and everything it could potential - hopefully - entail.
“Lena… I…” Kara began, voice thick with emotion as she took timid, shaky steps towards her best friend, “I don’t know what to say…”
“You love me?” Lena asked, the bluntness of the question softened by the tremble to her voice that highlighted the vulnerability and hope of the question.
It was the hopefulness in Lena’s voice and the way green eyes were dark with poorly hidden want that gave Kara the courage to lift her chin, puff out her chest and declare sincerely, “More than anything.”
Lena let out a shaky breath, throwing her tablet down on the bench and demanding sternly, “Take off the suit.”
“Really?” Kara’s eyes bulged at the request, the flush from earlier deepening to a boiled crimson, “I mean I’m not saying no but I was kind of hoping we could go out on a date first. Maybe? If you’re interested?”
“Kara,” Lena said stepping forward into Kara’s personal space which effectively stopped Kara’s ramble, “you’re still wearing the upgraded suit which is feedbacking to everyone in the DEO your emotions. If you take it off everyone goes back to normal.”
“Oh,” Kara breathed, shaking her head with embarrassment, “I thought-“
Lena reached out, threading her fingers through Kara’s golden hair affectionately before seeking out the nape of her neck to gently tug Kara down the couple of inches between them so that she could press their lips hotly together. Kara’s hands instantly sought out Lena’s hips even as her mouth slipped open granting access to Lena’s insistent tongue.
Lena’s free hand traced the emblem on the supersuit whilst she teased her nails against Kara’s neck earning her an appreciative groan that served as the only warning before Kara effortlessly hoisted Lena up onto the lab bench pressing eagerly forward into the space between Lena’s legs.
Lena nipped at Kara’s bottom lip before breaking away, panting heavily to regain her breath. Kara, meanwhile, didn’t even hesitate to track kisses down Lena’s jaw and neck, sucking at her pulse-point until Lena’s legs wrapped tightly around Kara’s body desperately trying to earn some relief.
“Do you have any idea how long I’ve wanted to do this?” Lena gasped.
“Oh, I do.” Kara murmured earnestly, leaning back to fully appreciate how wrecked Lena looked.
Lena lightly shoved Kara back with a playful laugh, fingers tapping against the edges of Kara’s supersuit emblem as she quirked a mischievous eyebrow. “The sooner you take this off, the sooner the problem is fixed and we can go on that date.”
Kara’s entire expression lit up at that and in flash she had disappeared only to return less than a second later dressed in the DEO sweatsuit that Lena adored.
“Shall we?” Kara checked, bouncing up and down so excitedly that Lena couldn’t resist pulling her back in for another deep kiss.

Bruce would have never thought about being with someone that worked under him until you. He liked to think of himself as a man with integrity when he wasn’t the Hulk. Yet he found himself thinking about you in the worst ways.
It was worse because you were half his age. He never wanted to cross that line. Despite Tony trying to convince him to ask you out for drinks. He didn’t wanna freak you out or make you think he was a creep. You really had no business looking that sexy in a lab coat, though.
What was worse was that it seemed like he couldn’t get a break from you. You genuinely enjoyed his company. You were eager to learn and Banner was definitely eager to teach you.
The only problem? Thor had taken a liking to you. How the fuck was he supposed to compete with that.
Would you rather have Banner? A nerd that spends all day in the lab or Thor. A king from another planet whose people had been forced hereafter said planet had been destroyed. The choice seemed pretty obvious to him.
Not that Thor wasn’t great. After everything that’s happened Bruce and Thor were practically best friends. Thor gotten him through a really rough time and obviously Banner had been there to help the god save his people. Then after everything with Thanos. They’d bonded in a way neither of them had expected.
He doesn’t even know why he tortures himself thinking about it. It was bad enough that the King of New Asgard was making googly eyes at you. Or that you seemed to be reciprocating it.
You were doing it right now. Laughing about something he said while his friend trailed his different colored eyes up and down your body. He couldn’t even blame him.
“Banner, you want to come out with us for dinner?” Thor had asked as you’d started taking off your coat getting ready to leave the lab for the day.
Bruce sighed. Why did Thor have to torture him like that. “No, it’s okay.”
“Oh, come on, Dr. Banner,” your voice was so smooth and sultry. Like you were always about to whisper something dirty. “Come out with us. All work and no play make you a dull boy.”
“I wouldn’t want to impose on your date,” he said as he finished packing up.
You tilted your head to the side with those confused puppy dog eyes. “Date? This isn’t a date. We’re just bored. And I wanna get drunk.”
“Yeah.” Thor nodded. “Just three friends having a few drinks and dinner.”
Banner looked between the two. Both of them with those sweet looks on their faces. Why the fuck did Thor have to be one of the nicest beings he’d ever met. It was hard to say no to him.
“Okay fine. Where are we going?” He asked as he finished packing up.
“It doesn’t matter as long as I get nachos!” You replied with a grin. “But I need to change first. I feel icky.”
Bruce had decided to do the same. He didn’t want to admit it, but he wanted to at least look nice for the first time you’d be seeing him out of work. Not that he was planning on acting out on any feelings. Again. He didn’t wanna freak you out.
“I know your secret.” Thor narrowed his eyes with a smirk on his face making Bruce almost smack onto him when he’d walked out of his room.
“Jesus, Thor!” He put his hand over his heart trying to not freak out completely.
He put his hand on Bruce’s shoulder. “Shit, sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you. I do know your secret, though.”
“What are you talking about?”
“You like Lady Y/N. Am I right?”
His jaw dropped, but he tried to sober up quickly. “Wha- what. Why, why would, what makes you think that?” He stuttered.
“I’m a fertility god.” He rolled his eyes dramatically. “I can tell these things.”
“Oh...” he trailed off his cheeks getting bright red.
Thor laughed. “There’s nothing to be embarrassed about. She’s beautiful.”
“She’s half my age,” he replied.
“So?” He frowned in confusion. Of course, Thor would have no concept of an age difference when he’d lived through centuries.
Bruce sighed. “So, it’ll look odd if I start dating my twenty-five-year-old intern, Thor.”
He shrugged. “Look I’m sure Stark has done much worse. Don’t worry about what people will think or you’ll never get your chance.”
You sipped from your margarita from your spot beside him. Why’d you have to be so close. Not that he was complaining. You’d started drinking the tequila before you’d even gotten the chance to get your food.
It was so different seeing you out of the lab and compound. You were dressed so simply in a white v neck tucked into your black jeans and a pair of black boots, but you looked so good. Your hair was up and done in your natural look. Like a cute pineapple.
“Wait, can either of you even get drunk?” You asked.
Thor had set down his beer and nodded. “I can, there’s nothing like Asgardian mead, though. What about you, Banner?”
“I don’t drink. Not sure how the big guy would react,” he answered.
She nodded. “That makes sense. Hope you guys don’t mind if I get drunk as fuck.”
“Feel free,” Thor replied. “We’ll protect you. Won’t we?” Thor kicked him lightly under the table.
“Yeah... yeah,” Bruce replied.
“Dr. Banner, loosen up. We’re here to have fun.” You nudged him.
“Yeah you’re right,” he replied a tiny smile appearing on his face as he tapped his fingers against the table. “I guess a beer wouldn’t hurt. If anything, we can just stay at Tony’s.”
“How many homes does this man have?” You asked wrinkling your nose.
Thor spun around with you on his back as you guys walked towards the entrance of the complex Bruce had told you that Tony wouldn’t mind if the three of you crashed in for the night. Just because Stark Tower was gone didn’t mean the billionaire didn’t have other properties around New York.
Banner laughed as he walked behind the both of you. He’d stuck to a beer to be safe and had loosened up at least a tad. He’d enjoyed seeing you have fun more than anything. All those stories the three of you would share. Of course, nothing compared to the odd adventures Thor had over the centuries, but still entertaining nonetheless.
Once you’d made it in you pretty much skipped inside as you looked around the penthouse. “Wow is it weird that I’m surprised that he’s trusting us with this place?”
“What’s not to trust?” Banner asked with a chuckle.
“Oh, come on. This is the face of a troublemaker.” You made a kissy face at him.
He shook his head. “You look like you stay up watching Bill Nye the Science Guy.”
Your jaw dropped. “Hey! Bill Nye is a national treasure. I used to have a crush on him. I think I have a thing for nerds.” You shrugged as you walked over to the kitchen.
Thor wiggled his eyebrows at Banner before motioning at him with his head. Bruce in turn shook his head at his friend. “Just talk to her,” Thor whispered still a little too loudly.
“No,” he replied.
“Think Tony will get mad if I drink some of his wine?” You asked as you took a wine glass.
“Eh, Stark will be fine,” Thor replied. “Enjoy yourself.”
So, the three of you had settled down to watch a movie. You’d also maybe raided the pantry which led to you and Thor throwing M&Ms into each other’s mouths while Bruce munched on chips. “At least Tony let us stay in the place that has snacks.” You laughed.
“Or does he know?” Thor asked with a smirk leaning over to steal one of Bruce’s chips.
“We’re not breaking and entering, are we? Because you guys might be able to get out of it, but...”
“We’re fine,” he answered, waving you off. “This is like the party house.”
“Yeah and where he goes when he wants to snack away from Pepper,” Bruce said with a smirk on his face.
“Wow shady, Dr. Banner,” you gasped with a giggle.
He groaned. “How many times have I told you to call me Bruce.”
“What if I like it?” You teased. “Besides if I call you Bruce I’m gonna end up calling you Brucie.”
“How about you can call me whatever you want then.”
You narrowed your eyes at him and he knew he was in for trouble. “Fine. What if I call you Daddy?”
For a minute, Bruce was sure his brain had short circuited. As soon as that word left your mouth, he could feel it happen. He closed his eyes for a minute. Almost like he was savoring it. He opened his mouth ready to say something witty or flirty or anything and, “Uhhhh...” It was like his voice had short circuited.
“Bruce, I’m kidding.” You laughed as you stood up, poking his shoulder. “I’ll be right back. I have to pee.”
As his friend was trying to process what had just happened, Thor sat beside staring at him with a dopey grin on his face. “I told you,” he teased waving his hands excitedly.
“She was just joking,” he quickly retorted.
Thor shook his head still absolutely beaming. “No. She’s totally into you.”
Bruce groaned because even if you were, it was still so inappropriate. “Thor, I can’t.”
“Yes, you can. Who’s going to stop you?” Thor shrugged. “Now fuck the twenty-five-year-old or whatever that is.”
“Thor!” Banner said, feeling himself almost lose control. The Hulk must have had a crush on you, too, because he did not like the other man talking about you like that.
Thor quickly sobered up, not meaning to push him that far. “Shit, I’m sorry,” he said.
“Is everything okay?” You asked peeking out of the bathroom. You looked a little panicked because in the few weeks you’d been helping him you’d never seen him go Hulk. This was the first time you’d even gotten a glimpse of him.
“Yeah. Just...” Thor looked at Bruce. “Give us a minute, Sweetheart.”
“Okay,” you replied softly biting your lip and close the door again. You’d already been over so many evacuations plan for just in case it happened, but you kind of cared about him so it would be kinda hard to see him like that.
“You okay?”
Bruce had his eyes closed and nodded. “No. I’m fine. I just... he wanted to come out and play a little.”
“You sure? We can go for a walk if you want. Clear your mind or whatever.”
He laughed. “No. I’m okay. Thanks. Y/N, you can come in!”
You peeked your head out again, looking between the two of them. “Everything cool?”
“Yeah, we’re good,” Bruce answered feeling a little bad if he’d scared you.
You came back over and took a seat on the couch that was across from them. Like you weren’t sure if you should get close.
“Y/N, you can sit here,” he said, looking down at your former spot on the floor.
You knew he hadn’t done it on purpose, but this kind of felt like a command and you found yourself complying. You weren’t even sure if it was from what’d just happened or from the daddy thing. “Okay,” you replied softly, making your way over.
You sat criss cross applesauce in between them. Thor peeked out from over the top of your head, staring him down. ‘Do it,” the god mouthed to him. You looked over and groaned. “Shoot forgot to get more wine,” you said standing up again.
“Banner, be a man,” Thor mumbled.
“I could say the same thing for you.”
“I am a man. I would have kissed her already. Taken control. Like a man.”
“I don’t want to scare her off.”
“So, you do like her!” Another grin grew on his face. “I told you.”
Bruce groaned softly. “Why would I want to do that with you here anyway?”
“Just trust me on this,” he replied as you walked up with another glass. They probably should have stopped you because by now you were pretty tipsy.
“Ohh, trust you with what?” You asked, sitting back in your spot.
“Nothing,” Banner replied. “It doesn’t matter.”
“It does, but he won’t admit it.” Thor added with a dramatic sigh.
You scrunched up your face in this cute pout as you got on your knees to wrap your arms around Bruce’s shoulder. “It’s okay, Brucie. I won’t let Thor bully you.”
Thor was so giddy.
Your breasts were so close to his face. “I thought you were supposed to call me Daddy?” He asked, looking up at you.
You got back on your knees your arms still around him. “Bruce! You’re so bad.” He could have done it. Just moved a little bit closer. Instead he froze again.
At that exact moment. While you were waiting right there. For him to just move closer to you. To connect your lips. His fucking phone rang. He groaned, resting his head against your shoulder. He dug it into his pockets to answer it. “Fucking Tony.”
You retracted your arms as he got up to take it. You leaned back resting your ass on your heels. “What, Tony?” He said a little harshly into the phone after he’d made it into the hallway.
“Where’d you put my wrench?” He asked and Bruce could hear the clattering of things being moved in the background.
“Seriously? This is what you’re calling me about?” Bruce laughed sarcastically.
“I texted you, but you never got back to me. I knew you three were out on your date thing.”
“It’s not a date, we’re just hanging out,” Bruce replied clearing his throat. “Why would you call it a date?”
“Yeah, whatever. Keep lying to yourselves. Anyway, where’s my wrench?”
It took a minute, but he’d finally found it and he was hoping he could get back to where the two of you were a moment ago.
It didn’t even make any sense. He was a fifty-year-old man, he shouldn’t have even been trying anything with you. Yet there he was ready to risk it all. For as Thor kept putting it, twenty-five-year-old pussy.
Of course, though, Bruce had the worst luck in the world. Between the Hulk and that whole thing. Making Ultron. Yeah, he’d fucked up a few times. Apparently walking away from you was one because there you were with his one of his best friends making out with you just like how he was supposed to.
Thor pulled away from your mouth to start kissing her neck. His hand went to one of her breasts. You looked up at him with this troublemaker eyes. “I told you to be a man, Bruce,” Thor said, in between nips on your skin. “So, I’m showing you how.”
He could feel his face getting hot. Like the big guy was threatening to come. He didn’t want you to see him like that, but as you stood up you wrapped your arms around his neck.
“It’s okay. I have enough holes for the both of you.”
His jaw dropped, but he couldn’t respond as you’d already smashed your lips into his. Your mouths worked together. His hands stayed at his side as you pushed him back until he could sit on the couch.
You climbed on his lap. Straddling him as his hands went to your ass like it was an instinct. He could pretty much hear the Hulk actually giving him kudos for doing it.
“See how much better that is,” Thor said sitting next to the two of you as he started kissing your neck.
Bruce thought for a minute. He should be telling Thor to go away, but the fertility god was just trying to help him out. Maybe he could play and not really touch.
“Brucie,” you moaned as he started to trail down your neck with his lips.
“Been teasing me all night. Haven’t you?” He said, into your ear.
You nodded with a chuckle as you started to roll your hips against him. He moaned into your neck as he cupped the bottom of your ass. You gasped, “Daddy.”
His dick rubbed into you in the most delicious way. Fuck he felt so damn good. “That’s such a good girl,” Thor said, coming to sit the beside of you.
“Thor!” Bruce pulled away.
Thor rolled his eyes. “Stop making this weird.”
You laughed grabbing the man who’s lap you were currently on top of. “It’s okay,” you said in such a cute way, your body perking up.
He sighed before looking at Thor who started to kiss your neck again. You didn’t even give him a chance to think as you smashed your lips against his. It didn’t take long for that to become his focus.
One of them started to pull your shirt up making the other follow. You helped them as you pulled it from your body, lifting it over your head. They kissed the tops of your breasts as Thor reached behind to undo your bra. “Look at these beautiful fucking tits,” Thor said licking your nipple.
Banner went back up to your lips, grabbing your ass with so much more force. Suddenly Bruce stood up with you wrapped around his waist. Ended up dropping you so your back was against the couch. You squealed then laughed as he started kissing you again.
There was still enough room between the two of you to where Thor could fondle you and kiss your neck. Honestly you felt like a fucking goddess with the two of them worshipping you like that.
You started to undo Banner’s shirt needing so much more. He helped to undo the rest while you reached forward to unfasten his belt. He was quick to help so you could start to work off your own pants.
It all happened so quickly. Before he knew it the both of you were naked and you were ready for him to fuck you. “Please,” you whined.
“What do you want?” He asked.
“For you to fuck me.”
Just like that he slammed into you, not being able to wait anymore. Fuck it had felt so good. He’d been wanting to do this ever since you started coming around. All that pent-up sexual frustration.
The noises coming out of your mouth were perfect. He couldn’t believe he was finally inside of you. “Yes,” you moaned.
Thor had taken his dick from his pants as he watched the two of you. Bruce never thought he’d find himself here. Fucking you with his best friend stroking himself as he watched. It was probably hotter than any porn he’d ever watched.
“Harder,” you whimpered.
“Fuck her like a man, Banner,” Thor groaned. “Like the slut she is.”
“Yes,” you mewled.
Banner groaned before pulling out of you. “Turn over.” He demanded.
You did as you were told, flipping onto your stomach so your ass was in the air. He wasted no time in slamming into you making you yelp. “That’s good, Banner. Fuck her just like that.” Thor reached out to stroke your cheek. “You look so beautiful getting your cunt stuffed.”
You moaned looking up at the god with big doe eyes. The way you were biting your lip. Banner honestly felt intoxicated just from being inside of you. As he worked his hips back and forth while you worked back against him, he honestly felt like he’d died and went to heaven. Even Hulk was giving him props.
“That’s it,” Thor groaned as you finally put your mouth on his dick. As much as he was trying to resist it before, it was kind of hot to see you getting your face fucked by Thor as he fucked your pussy.
“I’m gonna cum,” you moaned taking your mouth off of Thor. Bruce rubbed your clit making trying to coax it out.
You tightened around him. He honestly felt like you were trying to milk his dick. “That’s it,” he groaned. “Cum for me, Baby. Be a good girl and cum for Daddy.”
His words made you explode because you were not prepared for him to say anything like that. Banner pulled out of you helping you flip back over onto your back. He once again wasted no time to enter your overly sensitive pussy.
You scratched his back and he noted that it was probably his favorite feeling. The way you raked your nails up and down. “Oh, Daddy.”
“That’s a good girl,” he groaned.
Thor got on his feet so he could get access to your mouth once again. You turned your head, ready to serve. “Thor!” Banner groaned.
“It’s okay,” you moaned. “I like it. And, look at how pretty it is.”
“See, Banner. It’s okay.” Thor moaned feeling your tongue back on him.
Besides it felt kind of good to be this desired. As a woman of science there was something so hot about Bruce Banner fucking the shit out of you while your mouth was full of dick from an alien god king. This was like your dream come true.
Though hesitant at first, Bruce was finding himself enjoying seeing your mouth be used by Thor at the same time as he fucked you. The way you licked it like he was your favorite popsicle before taking into your mouth. He could tell you were having a little trouble me multitasking since you kept pulling away from Thor to moan.
“Fuck, Daddy!” You whined having to pull away from the other dick once again. Your head was swimming because it was almost too much, but you were determined to please.
“Ah, ah, ah, Pet, I didn’t tell you to stop,” Thor scolded grabbing the puff of hair on top of your head so he could push back into your mouth. Even at the strange angle you were sucking his dick like a perfect little cocksucker.
It honestly looked so good. Seeing you moan as you tried to keep up. Bruce’s mouth was practically watering as he looked down at your spread-out legs and the way you attempted to take his best friend down your throat. He wasn’t sure if you could because Thor was as big as he looked like he’d be. Then again seeing you choke on him sounded kind of hot.
Slobber drooled down your chin. You were making such a mess, but it looked like that had been exactly what you’d set out to do. Bruce had only seen blowjobs that sloppy in porn. “That’s such a good girl,” Thor groaned. “Look at that. Doesn’t she look so pretty like this.”
“So pretty,” Bruce grunted as he fucked you getting more on your body now. He buried his head into your neck as you wrapped your legs around his waist.
You were slurping on Thor’s dick and fuck you were so wet. How was your pussy so damn wet. “Been teasing me all this time, huh. How long you been wanting this? Is that why you applied for the internship? So, you could take my dick?” He angled his hips in a way so that he could go deeper. His cock surrounded by your spongy walls.
As much as you’d fantasizes a long time about him, you never thought it’d be like this. Fuck were you pleasantly surprised.
“Answer me, Honey,” he said, looking back up at you.
Thor’s hand was still gripped in your hair and he forced you off of him long enough for you to speak. Except at that moment you finally reached your breaking point cumming around him. You felt yourself milk his dick and all he did was keep fucking you. “Yes!” You cried. “Fuck me, Daddy!” You begged.
“Such a good girl,” Thor cooed before shoving himself back inside your mouth.
You moaned around him. All that spittle on your face. Bruce wanted to kiss you so bad, but considering your mouth was a little preoccupied he hesitated. It did look good, though. He glanced up at Thor who was mostly watching you take him like a good girl.
He noticed Bruce’s eyes on him before looking down at him with this slight smirk, shrugging his shoulders. As a god and until recently a prince, he had no shortage of lovers. This meant from different beings to whomever. Men or women or anything else. So, with the way Bruce was looking at him, he wasn’t really shocked.
Bruce on the other hand had only been with a handful of women. As Thor’s thick cock was just right there in front of him with your lips sucking at it, he felt like he couldn’t help himself as he leaned forward to lick what you hadn’t been able to fit into your mouth.
Thor hissed at feeling your mouth and his tongue now added. “Fuck,” he said under his breath.
You smiled around the dick in your mouth and pulled out with a giggle. “Daddy!” You squealed. Bruce blushed, pulling way. You leaned into him to connect your lips with his. He stopped moving and instead held you there. “It’s okay. I’m having so much fun.”
“Me, too,” he said, his face still red.
“Banner, it’s okay,” Thor said, rubbing the other man’s salt and pepper curly hair.
Bruce found it more comforting than he even expected before lifting away from you so he could lick it again, tasting the saltiness. You moaned underneath him connected your lips to his neck. “Don’t stop, Daddy,” you whispered in his ear before nibbling along his earlobe.
He ground himself, starting to move his hips again. This time fucking you with slower, deeper thrusts. This tingle that had already built up inside of you grew more intense. He was working your pussy so fucking good. Then seeing him do that you could feel a new orgasm building up inside of you.
“Help me, Baby,” Bruce said.
Thor smiled because he was happy to see the teamwork. Besides two mouths were definitely better than one. “That’s it.”
“Fuck you’re gonna make me cum again,” your voice shook as you suddenly clung to him. This one was definitely going to be more intense.
You squealed out your moans opening your mouth before biting down on your lip only for your jaw to drop again. You lip quivered into a pout while your brows tensed up. He couldn’t help it has he mesmerized the little details. Noticing how your eyes got so desperate looking. And it was for him. For what he was doing to you. Of course, you’d clearly enjoyed what Thor had done to your mouth, but he was the one fucking you into two orgasms one right after the other.
“That’s it, pretty girl, cum for Daddy,” he grunted because he could feel himself ready to also cum inside that pretty pussy. “Want Daddy to cum all in this pussy?”
You nodded, but you were so sensitive at this point because your orgasm was intense. Bruce quickly followed behind unloading into you. Tremors ran through your body as your eyes closed.
When Bruce looked down to see he immediately got off of you. “Shit, Y/N,” he said, he rubbed your cheek. “Hey, hey,” he talked to you ever so softly.
Thor got down next to you. “Sweetheart, are you okay?”
You wrapped your arms around him and he hugged you back tightly, kissing your temple. Bruce rubbed got down beside him, so he could rub your back. “I’m sorry. It was just a lot.”
“Don’t be sorry,” Bruce said. “I didn’t hurt you, did I?”
“No.” You laid back down as Thor kissed your forehead.
“Why don’t we go lay down?” Thor suggested.
“That’s a good idea,” Bruce said, grabbing your hand and kissing your knuckles.
Thor carried you to one of the many bedrooms. Your legs wrapped around his waist; chin perched on his shoulder. Bruce trailed behind watching the glazed look in your eyes.
As Thor laid you down, he made sure the blankets were pulled over you before kissing the top of your head again. “Comfortable?”
“Mhm,” you answered contently.
“Need anything?” Bruce asked. “Water? Pretty sure we’ve been through most of the snacks.”
“Can you lay down with me?” You asked looking between them with big eyes and a pout. Thor grinned before getting in beside you, Bruce quickly doing the same. You got snuggly between them. Thor against your backside and Bruce in front of you so you could wrap your arms around them.
You were enjoying the closeness of them. They would kiss you softly wherever they could reach and traced their fingertips on your skin. All the affection was making you feel like you’d settled into his haze.
Thor tickled your side and you giggled trying to get closer to Banner. “Daddy, tell him to stop.”
Bruce chuckled and kissed your nose. “Is Thor teasing you, Baby?”
“I’m the tease?” Thor gasped. “I’m the one who didn’t even get to cum and somehow I’m the tease?”
You laughed. “I’m sorry.”
“You will be sorry,” he said, as he brought his hands further down over your butt, squeezing your flesh.
The jealousy Banner would have felt earlier was gone. Instead replaced with curiosity over what he could possibly do to her. The anticipation was making him hard all over again.
“Daddy!” You gasped; eyes wide as you looked into Bruce’s. “He’s touching me!” It sounded like you were trying to tattle and Bruce couldn’t help it as he laughed.
“Oh yeah? What’s he doing?” He asked with a smirk on his face.
Thor had lifted your leg up so he could stuff his large fingers into your cunt from behind. “His fingers are in my pussy,” you replied with a moan.
“Does it feel good?”
“It feels really good,” you whimpered.
Bruce chuckled as he pulled you in so he could kiss your lips again. Thor kissed your shoulder as you started to leak all over his fingers. “That’s such a good girl. Why don’t you ask Daddy if I can fuck this pussy,” he whispered in your ear, the bass of his voice sending shivers down your spine.
“Oh, Daddy, can I?” You asked.
“That’s not how you ask politely, Sweetheart,” Bruce scoffed.
You swallowed down a moan because fuck Thor was really working you over good. “Daddy, can Thor please fuck me?”
“Since you asked so nicely,” he said. He felt like he was drunk off of you. For once even Hulk was at peace.
Thor grabbed you making you face him as he kissed you greedily. You climbed on top of him straddling his waist. He grabbed your hips to lift you up and then eased you back down onto his dick.
“Oh.” Was all you could say. Your face felt hot all of a sudden. It felt like you were almost too full from him.
Bruce smiled at the dazed look on your face. You looked so beautiful. “How does it feel?”
“He’s so big,” you whimpered.
“You wanted a God’s dick baby,” Thor said beginning to move you up and down his length. “You have to take it.”
“Is it too much?” Bruce asked taking his hardening member into his hand because watching the two of you was so perfect.
“I can take it,” you whimpered through gritted teeth because you weren’t entirely sure you were telling the truth.
“That’s such a good girl,” Thor groaned. Fuck your cunt was tight. If you weren’t having such a hard time now, he would have been slamming in and out of you. Your pussy felt so damn good.
Bruce’s watched intently as the other man fucked into you. He wasn’t sure what had come over him tonight, but he doesn’t think there’s any coming back from this. “Fuck, Thor,” he groaned, “your dick is too big for her.”
“Is it too big for you, Sweetheart?” Thor asked. “Too much?”
“I promise I can take it,” you cried because you felt like you were gonna be split in two.
“You better fucking take it,” Bruce said.
Thor finally started to pick up the pace. You threw your head back, biting your lips, eyes squeezed shut with your eyebrows furrowed.
You looked so gorgeous like this and even though you’d just made Bruce cum in that pretty pussy he wanted to do it again. Thor had this smirk on his face because there was something so funny about this little human woman struggling to take him.
Thor looked at Bruce as he’d glanced over him and Bruce wasn’t sure what came over him as he pressed his own kiss to Thor’s lips. Thor always needing to dominate kissed the other man deeply tongues fighting against each other.
You finally opened your eyes noticing the change in Thor’s movements as he tried to keep up with both at the same time. You started to move your hips faster because fuck they looked hot together and even though it felt like Thor was going to break you, you needed it.
“Fu- fuck!” You yelped as your orgasm came through. Thor smacked your ass and laughed against Bruce.
“See I told you her twenty-five-year-old pussy would feel good,” Thor couldn’t help himself from saying.
“Thor!” Bruce groaned.
You stopped moving, a laugh wrecking up through your body. “What?”
Your night pretty much went the same way. Getting used by both men until you were completely tapped out. You fell asleep nestled between them as they whispered sweet nothings to you and surprisingly each other.
Bruce couldn’t believe the smile that was on his face. Whatever aftermath happens after this he could deal with it. As long as you and Thor were there. Well mostly you since Thor would have to go back to New Asgard at some point.
“I don’t even know how she found out!” Tony complained to Happy for what was probably the millionth time.
The other man shrugged. “Maybe the kid let it slip?” He suggested as they finally came through the door. The both of them looked at each other as they saw the bowls of snacks around the floor and the only have drunken glass of wine.
And all the clothes.
“Who the fuck...” Tony gasped.
“I’ll do a sweep of the place,” Happy said already getting into protective mode.
Of course, Tony not being able to be patient wanted to see who the hell it was that had clearly had sex on his damn couch and didn’t even clean any of the evidence.
His jaw dropped seeing you in bed all safe and sound with Bruce. All of the irritation he felt was suddenly replaced with shock, but also relief because at least it was just Bruce. Besides he needed to get laid.
Thor came out of the bathroom at that moment, making Tony’s eyes widen as soon as he saw the god in all his naked glory. “Hi, Stark.” Thor greeted him with a grin as he went back over to the bed.
“I fucking called it!” Tony shouted, jolting the two of you awake.
You let out a scream before throwing a pillow to hit him in the face. Happy had covered his eyes because this was too much for him. “We’ll just wait outside,” he said, grabbing Tony’s shirt to yank him away.
“I knew it was a date!” He giddily yelled.
“Well, at least we don’t have to tell everyone because Tony is probably having Friday text everyone.” Thor shrugged, before scooping the both of you into his arms. Fuck, Tony. He was going back to sleep with his two small humans and then take them out for breakfast.

Saw the ask about if C ever checks MC's social media before they meet again and now I'm thinking about C giving in and checking only to find out MC has them blocked on everything lmao
Uhhhh so I started thinking about this and it spun out into a drabble because it caused me to feel Many Things. I did both Cora and Colton's version.
___
Cora knew she shouldn't be doing this. She shouldn't even be thinking about doing this. It was stupid, reckless, and most of all, incredibly, stupidly self-destructive. You weren't even thinking about her anymore, she wasn't even a blip on your radar. Cora knew that--she had prepared to know that the night everything changed.
The night she lost you for good.
And she made her peace with that. Truly, really did. Now, she had to move on with her life, other people needed her, other people depended on her. You were gone. And you weren't ever coming back. She couldn't let that happen.
So why was it so damn hard to let you go?
Cora rakes a ragged hand through her blonde curls, cursing into the air for nobody to hear. This is stupid, she thinks to herself as she glances at the polished computer on her desk, right where a photograph of the two of you should be but where she would never let it stay, this is unbelievably stupid.
But before she's even aware she's doing it, she's at the computer, typing your name into the search engine. A name she thought was out of her life for good, a name she never thought she'd say aloud again. But she does, quietly, softly, letting the syllables linger on her tongue, letting the sound of your name fill in the empty air. You were her person once. Hers.
Now, would you even look her in the eye again?
Cora sighs, gnawing on one fingernail as she stares at your typed name in the search bar, while the other hand taps anxiously against the polished surface of the desk.
"Fuck it," she mutters, and clicks enter before she can think of the consequences.
What's the worst that could happen? she thinks briefly, as the search bar fills with pages of your name. Pages upon pages of news articles written by you, uncovering some of the worst criminal syndicates in the country, unveiling political scandals, working with whistle blowers, posing for pictures with the mayor of some city she's never heard of.
Cora's heart swells with pride as she scrolls, wishing she could have been there to witness the excitement in your eyes, to be there for coffee orders in the middle of the night, to bounce ideas with you. To make you laugh when all you wanted to do was give up on the story you were chasing. She wishes she could have been there for it all. The smile you wear is not for her, she knows that. But she likes to think that maybe, just maybe, that you're on the other end, searching her name through the internet for any glimpse of what she's like now.
Then, after pages of news articles, she comes across a Facebook profile, and right underneath that, it's your professional Twitter. Cora smiles to herself, thinking about all the embarrassing photos you must have up on there. Or perhaps, she just wants to see more of you. A little more, she convinces herself, catching her bottom lip between her teeth, just a little more.
She moves the cursor over the Facebook link and clicks on it. There's a moment of agony as the internet slows, buffering. One second, two. Cora taps her fingernails against the glass desktop, chewing her lip.
Finally, the page loads.
'This user has blocked your account.'
Oh.
Oh.
Cora nods to herself. Once, twice. Right, of course, why did she expect anything else? Why did she think she could take a peak into your life without consequences? Of course, you don't want anything to do with her. Of course.
Slowly, Cora closes down the browser and shuts her laptop. She sits there for a moment, quiet and still, feeling like someone's just punched her in the stomach. You don't want anything to do with her, why would you? Why did she think she could have any shred of your life? Why did she think any of this would go her way?
Hope will always kill you in the end.
Tears roll down her cheeks unopposed as she continues to stare blankly at the wall facing her. She doesn't have any right. Why did she think this would go any other way?
Why did she try?
Why does she ever try?
It always ends like this.

The almost exact opposite of Amajiki and yet he just couldn't seem to stop himself from falling for you. Every day he always found himself stealing glances of you in class, occasionally the two would lock eyes. You'd smile that brilliantly bright smile of yours and make Amajikis stomach do back flips and his heart flutter, he would always turn away before any further contact could be made. On one particular day Nejire had asked you to sit with the big three at lunch, to which you happily agreed to. Amajiki almost had a melt down when Nejire had told him, to which Mirio patted him on the back giving him a "you got this dude!" a grin, and a thumbs up. It made the poor boy feel...slightly better but as you approached them in the cafeteria Amajiki tried his best to keep himself together. Why did you have to be so attractive? how dare you, it was unfair really. He just couldn't take his eyes off you, confidence radiated from your form. Mirio once told him that if he waited to long that someone would steal you, Nejire agreed. You were after all one of the most popular students at UA, not only was your quirk amazing and your fighting skills godly but your looks where beyond words, Amajiki was painfully aware of these facts. "Hi guys!" You grinned and Tamaki almost fainted. "Glad you could join us!" Nejire smiled as she took you by the wrist and dragged you to their lunch table, you couldn't help but giggle at her excitement as she asked you a bunch of questions about you and your quirk. Most of the quirk questions she asked she most likely already knew the answer to, you four being in the same class and all. Nejire took a seat next to Mirio, across from you and Amajiki. "Soooo Y/N...Do you have a crush on anybody?" Nejire asked suddenly, making you choke on the tea you where sipping on. "I-I uh-" You tried to avoid looking at Nejires grinning features, she already knew the answer to her question. Of course you did and it was none other then the boy you where sitting next to, you didn't answer her question, simply coughed and continued to sip on your drink. She sucked her teeth, unsatisfied with your answer, if you could even call it that. Mirios eyes wandered to Nejire then to Tamaki who was silently eating his food, his face was beet red at how close you and him were, your shoulders where brushing against each other. Then Mirio looked at you, whos cheeks were dusted with a light shade of pink as you tried to brush off the last conversation topic. He rolled his eyes and had to fight the urge to just blurt out that the two of you should date each other already. Soon the lunch bell rang and it was time to head back to class, Amajiki let out a soft sigh as the four of you started heading to your shared classroom, you and Nejire chatting about a show that she had starting watching recently. Mirio fell behind them a bit so he could walk beside Tamaki. "So, When are you gonna tell them?" He asked, knowing full well that it would take some sort of miracle to get Amajiki to confess to his crush of two years. The shorter gave a small shrug before slipping his hands into his pockets. "I-I don't know...Really i don't think i ever will. " He again let out a gentle, almost sad sigh "I dont think i'm good enough for them, they're so amazing." "Aw come on Tamaki! you're part of the big three!" Mirio gently nudged him with his elbow, to which Tamakjis eyes wandered to the opposite direction. "They think you're awesome" "Well yeah but they're right behind us on the list of top students" Amajiki informed him. It was true, you were almost part of the big three yourself but you ended up failing a test by 6 points and getting knocked to fourth. You didn't mind, you where pretty comfortable in your spot. "What're you guys talkin' about?" Nejire asked, walking backwards and looking at them with the same sweet smile she always had gracing her soft features. "How awesome Y/N is" Mirio patted Amajikis back, making him let out a soft hum. You tilted your head "Oh yeah? im honored." You smiled "You guys are way cooler then i am." Nejire giggled, Tamaki stiffened at her sudden question "So which of our quirks is your favorite, Y/N?" You hummed, tapping your chin for a moment. Tamaki expected you to say Nejires quirk seeing as you two have been friends since you both stepped into class 1-A in your 1st year at UA. "I think Amajikis quirk is the coolest" You smiled to him, Tamaki noticed and then you smiled it was as if your eyes where smiling to, his heart practically exploded, barely able to get out a 'thank you'. You giggled at his shyness, finding it adorable as always. Nejire couldn't help but giggle at the two of you, Mirios grin widened as he two watched you to. "Nice choice Y/N" Nejire smiled as she took you by the hand as you four made it to class, seeing as you and her sat next to each other she lead you to your seats, ready to take on the rest of your day you sat down as class began. As the end of the day rolled around you stretched as you made your way to the front of your dorm building. You had some homework to do as well as some studying, then you thought you could train a bit then- You had bumped into someone, not to hard it just startled you a bit as you where to deep in thought, planning out the rest of your day. You quickly bowed "I'm so sorry I wasn't paying atten-...Amajiki? what're you doing here?" You had bumped into Tamaki, not only that but he was standing in front of your dorm room. "O-Oh I uh- I-I" He stumbled harshly through his words, on top of that he was mumbling. You noticed a small piece of folded paper in his slightly trembling hands and smiled, just as you noticed it he stopped mumbling and actually spoke up a bit. "I-I just- I wanted t-to give this to you" he held out the slip of paper, avoiding eye contact with you at all costs. You gently took the paper from him but before you could get another word out he scurried down the hall and disappeared around the corner. You watched him leave, letting out a small chuckle before unlocking your door and walking in, closing the door behind you with your foot and gently setting your school bag down. The day before, after class Mirio had suggested to Amajiki that he should write you a letter if he couldn't just out right tell you. "Like...A love letter?" Tamaki tilted his head. He didn't know how he felt about that, his writing skills weren't bad he just dreaded having to wait for your response, not only that but even considering rejection as a factor made him wanna puke. "Don't worry, i'm like 90% sure that even if they do reject you they'll be nice about it" Mirio gave a thumbs up as he finally convinced Amajiki to start on the letter that could make or break him. It was a huge deal, you were his first ever crush and he never thought in a million years he would be confessing to you. "They're nice about everything" Tamaki mumbled as he continued to write his letter. Miro chuckled and nodded in agreement. "Exactly, you have nothing to worry about." Tamaki wondered why he was so confident about this, maybe Mirio knew you would turn him down? Thinking about that being a possibility created a pit of nervousness in his stomach. Really it was the opposite, Mirio knew you would say yes, he was just excited to finally see his favorite ship finally become a couple. Back to the present you took a seat on your bed before unfolding the note and beginning to read it. Your eyes where wide as saucers when you finished reading it, the final sentence replaying in your mind at least a hundred times "Will you go out with me?"Butterflies invaded your stomach and your cheeks flushed, you decided to give him your answer tomorrow, wanting it to sink in that the boy you've had a crush on since the dawn of time liked you back. Amajiki was dying in his room as he awaited your answer, Mirio who had come over to study with him was laughing his ass off at the boys struggle. The next day you where standing in front of Amajikis dorm room with both Mirio and Nejire at your side, they had their phones out ready to take pictures of this momentous occasion. You took a deep breath before gently knocking on his door three times, it took him a moment or two before he opened the door, he immanently stiffened as he locked eyes with you. Bracing himself for rejection he waited for it but all he heard were the words he had been wanting to hear for the past two years "I like you to Amajiki" Nejire squealed and clapped as Mirio laughed "finally oh my god" Mirio said crossing his arms. Amajiki stood frozen, having to register what just happened, after coming to the conclusion that the love of his life did indeed just agree to date him he felt a sudden rush of adrenaline and pulled you towards him by the wrist, placing his slightly quivering lips against your silky smooth ones. Nejire practically screamed as she took about a thousand pictures, Mirio looked away jokingly acting disgusted but he couldn't hold back his happiness for his friends, they found love and he was beyond proud of Amajiki for going through with his plan.   Your eyes where wide and your face was crimson by the time Amajiki pulled away. He started to apologize profusely as he realized what he just did, which resulted in you having to tell him it was fine over and over again. The two where walking together hand in hand as you made your way to class, as shy as he may be he still wanted everyone in the world and their mother know that you belonged to him now and nothing walking this Earth was going to change that.

Like You
Trequel to Half Of and The only ghost in Amity Park
“We need to talk, Fenton,” Valerie hissed, slamming Danny’s locker shut in his face. He pursed his lips and lowered his gaze but said nothing. Manson scoffed and stepped right up, putting her finger in Valerie’s face.
“He doesn’t owe you anything, Val so lay off. If he wants to talk to you, he will, not because you demanded it.” Val grabbed Sam’s wrist, strong but still such delicate bones. The goth flinched a bit as Valerie applied pressure.
“Only my friends,” Valerie hissed with a hard look over at Danny, “get to call me Val. But I guess we’re not friends if you kept something like this from me.”
“Val...erie, let her go,” Danny mumbled quietly. “We’ll talk after school, meet me by the equipment shed behind the football field.”
“Alone,” Val said, flicking away Sam’s wrist. “None of your adoring, enabling entourage, new or old.”
“No way in hell,” Sam said, clearly resisting the urge to hold onto her injured wrist. “Like we’d trust Danny with someone like you.”
“What? Human?” Valerie asked back. Danny stuck his hands between them and forced them apart. Now that Val was looking, the entire hall was watching them. Whatever, they didn’t matter.
“Cut it out,” Danny frowned, looking over both of them. “Sam, I’ll be fine talking to her alone.” He turned back to her with his blue eyes. As long as she’d known him, Danny’s had a presence about him. She took it as growing up in such a strange house and later her growing crush. But there was no way to explain away the icy, electric feel of his gaze holding her own. “3:30, equipment shed, just talking. Okay?”
“Fine,” Valerie said, turning and stomping down the hall so she had the last word. The rest of the day passed slowly as she gripped the sides of her desk and bounced her leg, thinking about Danny Fenton. How long had Danny been a ghost or half of one, how was that even possible? Had he always been that way and she simply hadn’t noticed? Her? The best ghost hunter in Amity? How much of Danny was real and what was just a cruel ghostly joke? That’s the question that burned the most. Danny seemed to be the only one who liked this new, more grounded Valerie. What would she do if her closest friend was just messing with her?
Finally, school ended and she stalked purposefully towards the equipment shed. Interesting choice of location, it was almost never used since most every day sports gear was stored in the locker rooms. Did he chose it because it was isolated? Danny didn’t seemed worried about confronting her alone, what abilities could he have that he wasn’t scared of her? That made her pause once the shed came into sight. She’d only heard about Danny’s powers, never having ever seen them firsthand. Valerie took an ectogun from her bag and slipped it in back waistband of her skirt. Just in case.
Danny was sitting on the roof of the shed, weirdly enough. It would be next to impossible to climb so he had to have flown. She’d already heard of him floating but the idea of Danny Fenton and superpowers still didn’t add up in her head. He was rubbing at a tear in his jeans when she approached. Danny gave a little awkward half smile that, a few days ago, would have sent her stomach into somersaults. Now seeing it just made her sick.
“Are you gonna hide up there all day?” She asked curtly, hands on her hips.
“You could always join me up here,” Danny shrugged, getting more comfortable on the roof. Val raised a disbelieving eyebrow, eyeing the lack of handles and the broken splinters on the old shed. “We’re far enough away, no one will see you use your hoverboard.” Just when Valerie thought he was done being surprised. She gaped open mouthed at Danny who got nervous and rubbed his hands anxiously. “You uh you wanted to talk so I thought we ought to lay all our cards on the table.” He took a deep breath, “I know you’re the Red Huntress Val...erie.”
“How!” She demanded, activating her board without thought to get to the roof. She grabbed Danny by the shirt and hauled him forward until their faces were inches apart. His body radiated a soft chill that brushed against her skin. He held up his hands in surrender.
“Since the start, Sam and I, we saw you in the park, remember? You caught us uhhhh,” Danny trailed off, looking away with a blush. It took Val a minute but she remembered one of her first outings with the suit, she was chasing Phantom and his stupid dog only to find Danny and Sam kissing in the bushes. She hadn’t cared about the love lives of losers at the time. It had only become relevant when she started catching feeling for Danny but he’d assured her multiple times that he and Manson weren’t a couple. “It wasn’t real, the kiss I mean. It was Sam’s idea, you surprised us and we didn’t have time to hide so you didn’t...” he trailed off.
"Didn’t, what?” She demanded. Valerie gasped when Danny simply phased out of her grip and assuming his previous position on the roof. She stared for a moment at her hands before looking up again at Danny who was back to fiddling with his clothes. There it was, irrefutable proof that Danny wasn’t human. It felt like her heart was being chipped away with a hammer.
“Look, this has been kind of a hard week for me,” Danny groaned, raking his hands forcefully through his hair. “I get my powers outed, I need to convince my parents not to kill me the rest of the way, keep the ghosts off my back for a period, get the government to acknowledge my existence all the while dealing with everyone’s stares and questions at school.” He tucked his knees closer and flopped his face into them. “I said I would be honest with you and I’m trying but I’ve already had to give so much of myself this week and... I don’t know, what do you even want from me?”
“I want answers!” Valerie tried to demand but it came across as more whiney. She pushed back any tears that were threatening to come. “I want to know what was real! Was our friendship real? Our feelings? Are you even real? And if you knew I Huntress all this time then why... why would you even talk to me? Were you just playing with me? Spying on me? What did you want with me?”
“I’m real, Val, I promise,” He held out his hand and she reluctantly took it. His hand was chilly but there always where, it was also solid with knobbing bones and ropy muscles. Beneath it all, there was a sluggish but persistent pulse. She squeezed his hand, it was a human hand and yet it had also passed right through her. How could he be real and not real at once?
“As for what I wanted, just a friend really,” Danny said, keeping his head on his folded knees but turning towards her. She read nothing but sincerity in his eerily blue eyes. “Sam, Tuck and I, we have serious history. We know each other inside and out. But you, you were someone new. I loved hearing about your interests, your dreams, finding out who you were as a person beyond that jerk who made fun of me the second week of Freshman year for wearing my dad’s jumpsuit to school. I liked being able to be a normal person with you, I think I had started to forget with the whole ghost thing going on.”
“What happened?” Valerie couldn’t help but ask.
“Lab accident,” Danny said quietly, “Sam and Tuck were there, wasn’t pretty. Thought I was goner for sure. I survived somehow but I got some freaky powers out of the deal. There’s downsides but some sweet benefits,” he tilted his head back and looked longingly up at the sky. “Flying is the best.”
“Yeah,” Val couldn’t help but sigh in agreement. She could almost the feel the sensation of the wind whipping against her suit. Hear the roar as she soared through the clouds. It was hard to imagine Danny flying but his eyes shined with understanding she usually only saw in the mirror. “So why did you hang out with me knowing I hunted ghosts?”
“It just sorta happened, You obviously sensed that Sam and Tucker weren’t too happy about the risk.” No kidding, Val had gotten warmer welcomes from freezers. “But you were cool, Val. Plus you,” he paused and seemed to consider his words. “I felt like once we got over the hump you would get it in a way the other don’t. You know what it like to balance two lives, to have insane power at your fingertips, to feel like if you take even a second break that the ghosts will overwhelm the town. It’s just... a lot to deal with alone, Sam, Tucker and Jazz, they try to understand but they just don’t.”
He looked over at her, “I guess it was nice to know that there was someone like me out there,” he blushed, “and that someone uh liked me. For being me, y’know?”
“Clearly I didn’t know everything,” she grumbled watching as Danny winced. Val frowned, she probably wasn’t being entirely fair, she hadn’t exactly been honest with Danny either.
“So you fight ghosts, huh?” Valerie couldn’t help was ask with a little smile. Trying to picture it. The Danny she thought she knew wouldn’t but this Danny... “Is that why you’re always running out of class?”
“Isn’t that why you leave?” He teased back hesitantly. “I’m honestly a little surprised no one figured me out before. I was really bad at hiding at first. Of course it’s only when I get the whole ‘secret identity’ thing down that I get exposed.” He huffed, the ends of his hair lifting out of his eyes.
“Secret identity, so you can turn into a ghost?” Danny was silent. “Have I seen you out there?” More silence. “Have I... have I shot at you?” Everything seemed quiet save for their asynchronous breathing. “I didn’t hurt you, did I?”
“It stung but not enough to keep me down for long,” Danny said, flexing his arms but his smile was strained. There was something about it that was haunting, familiar. She turned to look at the woods because if she stared any longer she’d realize which ghost Danny turned into and neither of them was ready for that right now.
“So now what?” She asked.
“I don’t know,” Danny sighed. “I’m kind of taking it one day at a time. Mom and Dad are nervous, jumpy, I’m not sure if they’re more scared of me or of themselves and what they did. My sister and friends are being annoyingly overprotective. People who hated me last week are suddenly in my face asking questions and demanding demonstrations. The government wants to kill me but,” he snorted a little, and tilted his head towards her floppily. “I'm also talking to you about this part of my life for the first time. Lying was a necessity I never grew comfortable with, I think I could do with a bit of honesty.”
“Yeah me too,” Valerie said, straightening up and looking Danny in the eye. “I’m still not sure how I feel about this. I don’t like ghosts and I likely never will. I’m going to continuing being Huntress and keeping the town safe. But I’m willing to give you chance, give you time to open up completely. It’ll give us both times to come to terms with everything, and maybe then we can figure out where we stand.”
“I’ll take it!” Danny beamed, “I was worried you were coming here to off me with that ectogun you have stashed in your skirt so this is much better!”
“How did you-” She gasped.
He winked and tapped his forehead, “I’m pretty sensitive to ectoplasm, especially out here in the real world. Gotta admit sometimes when my energy was low, I sought you out. Did you know your suit radiates a low level ectoplasmic field, even when you’re not wearing it?” He twisted his face in thought. “Now that we’re talking-talking, I should warn you what side effects excess exposure to ectoenergy can cause.” He twisted his hand and a small green ectoblast formed in his palm briefly before dissipating. “If that worries you, my parents can hook you up with some sweet ghost hunting equipment that won’t contaminate you.”
“So I could have powers like you one day?” She asked carefully, looking over her hands thoughtfully.
“Maybe, I don’t know. Mine was a kind of one in a million accident, well, two,” he made a face. “That’s whole other story, don’t ask. But we could maybe find out together, Val,” he winced. “Valerie.”
“Val is fine,” she said quietly, still thinking too many things. “We have a lot of things to figure out but in the meantime, you can keep calling me Val.”
“I’d like that,” he smiled. “So uh, do you want to come to movie night tomorrow? It’s at my house this week. I uh always wanted to invite you before but Sam, Tuck and I usually end up talking ghost stuff during the movie so we couldn’t before but if you’re interested... could be fun to have you there. We’re watching The Shining.”
“That movie is like a billion years old,” Val laughed with an eyeroll.
“It’s a classic, I was named after the kid in that movie!” Danny defended. “I’ll text you the details but its up to you. Either way, we’ll uh, we’ll keep talking. See you around, Val.” And just like that, he vanished. She swiveled her head around but Danny Fenton was truly gone.
“Jerk,” she grumbled but there was no heat to it. She heard a giggle above her and knew Danny, in his secret ghost form, was probably flying. And it was too nice a day to walk home. She activated her suit and took to the skies herself. Valerie didn’t know if Danny was with her or not, she just turned off her brain and fell into the motion of aggressive loops and high speed dives around her town.
Everything had turned upside down with the knowledge that Danny wasn’t who she thought he was. But again, things had been crazy since the ghosts first came to town. So she and Danny were at a stand still, not friends and not enemies, not open but not secretive either. It was a weird state to be in but Danny was probably used to being in a state of half life himself. But she’d worry about all that later, for now it just her and sky.

A Very Special Night
Hey everybody! Here’s a quick oneshot I wrote where Toph and Su help Lin get ready for her school dance, because we deserve more happy Beifongs and Lin getting the love and support from her family that she was denied in canon. Enjoy!
“So, are you nervous? You must be nervous, you’re not eating.”
Lin looked up from her plate at her sister’s words. It was true, she was nervous. Her dinner lay untouched on her plate, as her stomach was in knots.
“Eat up, baby girl. You can’t dance on an empty stomach. Well, I suppose you can, but you shouldn’t,” her mother chimed in.
“No, no, I’m not nervous. I’m just… excited, that’s all!,” she lied, something her mother picked up on immediately.
Toph’s expression shifted into one of concern.
“What’s wrong, Linny? This is a big night, you should be over the moon right now,” she wondered.
It was true, tonight was a big night. When her school at first announced that they were going to be hosting a formal, Lin decided right away that she would not be attending. She was a horrible dancer, not to mention socially awkward, and she didn’t know the first thing about getting dressed up. It wasn’t until one of her oldest and quite frankly only friends, Tenzin, had decided that he wanted to go and as his best friend she was obligated to go with him was she convinced to buy a ticket.
Lin wasn’t sure why she felt like her heart was gonna beat out of her chest when he asked her to go with him. It wasn’t like it was a date or anything. She had known Tenzin forever. This was just a friend thing, she repeated over and over again in her head, although the mantra didn’t do much to rest her fast beating heart.
“Promise you won’t laugh at me?”
“Promise,” Toph and Su assured her.
“Well, I have a dress and shoes and everything, but I’m still not really sure how I’m going to do my hair and makeup. You know I’m not good at that stuff,” she confessed, blushing.
Su perked up. “Oh, that’s easy! I can do it for you, I’m great at that stuff!”
It was true. Su had always had a keen and stylish eye that her visually challenged mother and dorky sister lacked. Maybe Lin should have felt embarrassed that her ten year old kid sister knew more about these things than herself, a girl of fifteen, but she was honestly just grateful for her help.
“Here, I can do it right now no problem,” Su offered. The sisters got up from the table and began to make their way upstairs.
“Hey, girls! Aren’t you gonna finish your dinner?,” Toph called out.
“Yeah, yeah, we will in a bit. But this is more important!,” Su shouted back from the top of the staircase.
The girls made their way to the bathroom, where Su sat Lin down on the closed toilet seat. She pulled out a hairbrush and assorted hair elastics and then plopped herself down on the edge of the bathtub behind her sister.
“So, you and Tenzin?,” she asked suggestively as she brushed out Lin’s hair.
Lin began to blush. “What about me and Tenzin?”
“Is this a date?”
Lin’s face lit up bright red. “Wh- what? No- no we’re just friends. We’re going to the dance as friends. Not a date. Why would I be going on a date with Tenzin?”
“Because you have a huge crush on him?,” Su said knowingly, as if this should have been obvious.
“No! No I don’t! Who told you that anyways?”
Su rolled her eyes. “Nobody told me, silly! I figured it out myself. You make it pretty obvious, you know.”
“No I do not! I do not make it obvious because I do not have a crush on Tenzin!”
Su sighed. It appeared she was going to have to bring in the big guns.
“Hey Mom! Does Lin have a crush on Tenzin?,” she shouted down to Toph in the kitchen.
“Su! What are you doing?,” Lin asked her sister angrily, a warning tone in her voice.
Toph laughed. “Well duh! She’s had a crush on him since she was like, what? Five? Six?”
Lin’s face was growing redder by the minute. “Mom! Why would you say that? I. Do. Not. Have. A. Crush. On. Tenzin.”
“Sorry baby girl. Deny it all you want, but your heartbeat always goes crazy for that airhead. Don’t worry, he likes you back,” Toph called up to them from the kitchen.
“What?,” Lin shrieked, although she couldn’t deny that she didn’t entirely hate the idea. She more than just not hated it. She actually… well she could actually get used to the idea. Tenzin having a crush on her.
Su giggled. “Keep still, I’m trying to do your makeup. Unless you want me to poke you in the eye with this thing,” she joked, waving the mascara wand in front of her face.
Lin rolled her eyes. “I don’t think I would mind having my eyes poked out right about now. And maybe gag me with a spoon while you’re at it.”
Five minutes and lots of eye goop later, Lin had been transformed into a thing of beauty. That’s not to say that she wasn’t already beautiful as she was, but it wasn’t as if Lin put a ton of effort into her appearance on a daily basis. She told herself that it was because she had more important things to worry about, but in reality it was mostly because she always felt as if she couldn’t really pull it off.
“Here! All done! You look absolutely gorgeous, Tenzin is going to love it,” Su told her with pride.
Lin took a look at herself in the mirror. Her sister hadn’t been lying. Her dark hair was done up in a low bun at the base of her neck with a braided crown circling her head. A blue lotus blossom poked out from behind her ear to match the shade of the shadow on her eyes. Her lips were glossy, and her cheeks blushed a faint pink.
She looked fantastic.
“Wow, Su. I don’t even know what to say. Thank you.”
“My pleasure!,” she replied with a smile.
“I’m gonna go put on my dress. How about you go downstairs and help Mom figure out the camera?”
Su gasped audibly as Lin emerged from the top of the stairs several minutes later. Her beautiful blue qipao dress perfectly matched the flower tucked behind her ear, and it made her look and feel like a star.
“How do I look?,” she asked nervously.
“Wow, Lin. You look amazing!,” Su exclaimed.
Toph walked up to where her daughter was standing and cupped her face with her hands, tracing her features softly with the tips of her fingers. She had to reach up and pull her face down to her level, as Lin had undergone quite the growth spurt within the past few years and had shot up well above her chronically short mother.
“Gorgeous. You’re gorgeous.”
Toph began to tear up a little. “I can’t believe my baby girl is all grown up. Where does the time go? It feels like just yesterday I was holding you in my arms for the very first time.”
“Yeah baby girl, where does the time go?,” Su repeated in a light mocking tone, although there was no real malice behind it.
“You’re growing up too, little miss beauty parlour,” Lin reminded her sister with a laugh, but she was interrupted by the doorbell ringing. All of a sudden, the nerves she had been keeping at bay all came flooding back to her.
“He’s here! Okay, you guys cannot embarrass me.”
Toph threw up her hands defensively. “We wouldn’t dream of it.”
“Mom, that means you can’t try and interrogate him like he’s some criminal. And Su, if you mention anything about this being a date or how I have a crush on him, I’m going to have to kill you later,” she warned her family.
“Got it. Scout’s honour,” Toph swore.
“Yeah, yeah, I got it,” Su agreed reluctantly.
Lin took a deep breath and opened up the door.
“Wow, you look fantastic!,” Tenzin exclaimed, blushing.
Lin began to blush herself. Tenzin had gotten pretty dressed up. She was surprised to see him in a suit, normally he wouldn’t be caught dead in one unless his parents forced him to.
“You look pretty good yourself,” she complimented him.
Su waggled her eyebrows suggestively behind Tenzin’s back, and Lin shot her a warning look.
“So, Tenz. Bring my daughter home in one piece, will ya? We kind of like her around here.”
“Oh yeah, of course Aunt Toph!”
Toph raised one eyebrow at him.
“Oh- uhhh- I mean- uhhhh- yes. Yes ma’am. I will do that,” he stammered.
“Good man,” Toph validated him with a nod of her head, apparently unable to resist an opportunity to take a power trip.
“Let’s take pictures, and then you guys can go have your fun,” Su giggled.
Lin rolled her eyes at her sister, but obliged to take a few cheesy photos of her and Tenzin posing together.
“Alright, we better get going or we’re going to be late,” Tenzin warned.
“Right. Okay, I’ll see you in a few hours, bye!,” she said, waving goodbye to her mother and sister.
“Have fun, kiddo! Don’t spike any punch, at least not without me there to make fun of the aftermath!”
“Bye Lin! Bye Tenzin! Have fun on your date!,” Su called out as the door slammed shut.
Lin shot a look at her sister, but it was too late. Tenzin had heard.
“D- date? Is this a date?”
Lin’s face burned bright red. “I mean- n- no. Unless you want it to be?”
Tenzin went quiet for a moment, as if he were thinking it over.
“Yes, yes I do. I do want this to be a date. But I mean, only if you want it to be.”
“I think I do.”
Tenzin’s entire face lit up, and Lin felt herself begin to grin as well. Perhaps school dances weren’t so terrible after all.

[12:17 a.m. Changbin]
i don't think we should to that again
it was a mistake
you looked at your phone at a extreme state of confusion. he had left your place minutes ago and, after an amazing session of oral sex, a lovely dinner and a extremely bearable (maybe even good) late-night talk, the walk to his car was all it took for him to develop a guilt complex?
[12:17 a.m. Changbin]
i just needed to vent but honestly, getting with you can really damage my future and that's not something i'm willing to jeopardize for sex.
you read his messages over and over again. it was the "i just needed to vent" that got backlash from you... did he really just came to your place only to ease his sexual frustrations?
you were still siting in the living room, hugging your knees to your chest. you hadn't lose self control once but twice, and not to mention it was with a man whose only purpose all along was to use you to feel better about himself.
"you really touched bottom this time" you whispered to yourself, feeling the need to take a second shower in order to rinse away all the traces from his touches and kisses on your skin.
maybe it wasn't really the guilt that bothered you. maybe it was the fact that, tonight, was probably the best night you've ever had for a while. he took well care of you, after finishing he cleaned you up and carried you to your room so you could take a shower and change your clothes.
he patiently waited for you while sitting at the edge of your bed and, when you were done showering, some delicious food he ordered was already expecting both of you at the dinning room of the house. during dinner, you told him a little bit about your life in japan and shared some childhood memories with him.
things were good, maybe too good for your own liking, but it only took a couple of minutes for changbin to remind you who he truly was.
not only that, but you also wouldn't admit the fact that you had a great time with him.
*
you spent the rest of the week calmly, having to hang out with changbin more times than you actually wanted to. he would often act like a gentleman in front of his parents and arthur, trying to engage in coversations with you often, asking you about your major and your adolescence in japan. you thought that he was just doing that in an attempt to hide the awkwardness of the air every time you had to spend time with him at arthur's company, but that didn't completely eased the fact that you felt your blood boil every time you had to be near him.
*
"you are coming, right?" ryujin cried from the other side of the phone "you told me you wanted to come!"
fuck, chan's party was this weekend.
"uhhhh" you mumbled "ryujin i don't feel good"
"y/n!" she screamed "is it because of changbin? baby? i have known you since pre-school, are you really feeling bad over a man you met barely 2 weeks ago?"
ryujin was right. you hated men, you truly did. and you were too proud about the fact that you had never cried over one, let alone have your heart broken by any of them. and it wasn't changbin you were sad about but the fact that he used you, you let him and then tried to act like nothing ever happened between both of you, which was even more humilliating. it always seemed like you had everything controlled but this time he was the one who got the last word and that was something you just couldn't accept.
"besides" ryujin added without leaving time for you to talk "i don't even think he is coming, chan said that he invited more people outside his friend group because some of them were not going to make it tonight, maybe he is one of them"
"maybe" you said "but i'm not willing to take a risk on that, ryujin"
you couldn't see her, but you could clearly picture how she was pouting at that exact moment. "y/n, you will eventually go back to japan and we will not be able to hang out anymore. is that what you want? do you want to reject your best friend on a saturday night? plus! the last time i took you to itaewon you had a great time!"
"speak for yourself ryujin" you mutered
"PLEASE" she screamed, making you squirm in your place "i promise that i will be by your side the whole time, i won't get distracted by the gorgeous, precious, well-built, amazing...."
"alright" you interrupted her "i know you are lying but i want to believe you for once"
she did a little scream of victory on the other side of the line and proceeded to set an hour to pick you up, almost against your will.
*
"what's the special occasion?" you asked ryujin as she went through all your clothes that were now laying around your bedroom floor, trying to find the perfect outfit for chan's party because you were dressed too casual, apparently.
"today it's the birthday of one of his closest friends" she said, almost in a hurry "and we are now running late because of your choice of clothes"
"i didn't knew there was a dresscode" you said, sitting at the edge of your bed.
"oh no, there isn't" she responded, now lurking around your suitcase and bags "but you need to let know changbin what he is missing out"
you rolled your eyes and grunted, of course. ryujin was that type of friend who would hype you up while you wear a killer outfit just to piss off a man.
"FINALLY" she screamed, finding the black dress that you stole from changbin at coex "i knew you had something around"
with hesitant eyes you looked at her handing you the dress, not sure if this easy outfit, like changbin said, would fit the occasion. "go on, it's almost 9 p.m."
*
by the bar incident you learned that chan, changbin and the whole friend group were a bunch of privileged men, but you didn't quite understand how privileged they were until you found yourself outside chan's house. the architecture looked excentric but expensive, at the same time. it was located in a pretty nice neighbourhood and was specially afar from the rest of the houses as if the most important value around was privacy.
you looked at ryujin and she seemed nervous. understandable. she came from a decent household but this right here just looked like the mansion of a western celebrity.
"are you alright?" you asked her, closing the door of her car before walking towards the stairs that lead you to the front door.
"this is the first time i'll get to meet chan's friends" she responded, making a grimace as she retracted "well, the second time, but i can barely remember the night at the bar"
"right"
right before she could continue talking, the front door opened and chan greeted you both. "ladies"
you bowed down to chan and ryujin immediately jumped into his arms, receiving a kiss in her cheek by the man himself "could you not?" you joked, watching chan's face turning bright red by the unexpected and euphoric physical contact.
"i missed him!" ryujin defended herself, locking her arms behind his neck.
"come in, y/n" he said, opening the door wider so you and ryujin could come in.
"who's the birthday boy?" you asked, your eyes scanning the insides of the house looking for any sign of changbin.
"it's jeongin's birthday" he said, proudly smiling like the father of an 8-year-old son "he's right there, at the couch. maybe you recall him from the bar"
you saw his face and immediatly remembered him. "yeah, the guy who just couldn't stop laughing"
"that's the one" chan said, standing right besides ryujin "let's go, let me introduce you to them"
*
the next hour was spent peacefully and you were almost thankful that ryujin begged you to come. jeongin, the birthday boy, was already drunk by 10:00 p.m. and kept making bad jokes that cracked everyone up. ryujin left with chan to god-knows-where and you were stucked with jisung and hyunjin at the living room, drinking ocasionally and having a good time.
"i remember you from the bar" jisung mumbled, getting closer to your ear as the music was already too loud. "i wanted to chat with you, but you disappeared quickly"
his breath smelled like cherries and alcohol as he was too close to you, but you couldn't complain. it was almost intoxicating in the best way possible.
"yeah i was not having a good time"
he smiled proudly "i'm sure i could have made it better"
a sarcastic chuckled escaped your lips as he placed a hand on his chest "you don't believe me?"
"i don't believe any man for that matter" you replied almost in a flirty way, not that you wanted to tho but the alcohol was already making you feel a tad extroverted.
"but i'm not any man" jisung whispered on your ear, making you feel goosebumps over the entirety of your body. before you could even say something back, he grabbed you by the hand and took you outside of the living room and into the patio, where a lot of people were gathered drinking and dancing.
"oh, i'm not good at dancing" you tried to escape, jisung holding you by one of your hands.
"you don't have to be good at dancing to enjoy it" he pouted, still convincing you to join him at the improvised dance floor that people made right at the center of the courtyard "c'mon y/n"
you were not too fond of dancing, but the music that was playing and jisung's insistence made you accept the offer. with small jumps of excitement he drove you to the crowd of people and started to move around you like a fool, inspiring you confidence to losen up a bit.
"i'm not used to this" you admit, moving your body to the sound of "criminal" by taemin, one of your favorite songs ever.
"there's always a first time for everything" he mumbled, his face dangerously close to yours "here"
his hands traveled to your waist and he held you closer to his body, feeling his soft and warm sking against the naked parts of your. "just let your body move with the music, it's not hard"
jisung's presence was extremely intoxicated and captivating, but not enough to keep you from notice changbin entering to courtyard.
and he wasn't alone.
your whole body tensed and you could feel how jisung stepped back a little bit. "did i do something wrong?"
you parted your gaze from changbin as soon as he saw your body pressed against him, and you gave a faint smile to jisung.
"no, i just felt shy for a moment"
he gave you a wide smile and continue to hold you even closer, your hips moving involuntary against his pelvic area and his eyes firmly fixed into you. "god, you are so precious"
"am i?" you asked, tilting your head to the side while dancing.
you could feel changbin's gazed nailed into your body and that was making you do stupid things. you wanted to make him feel jealous, for some reason, but using a man you just met wasn't something that would fit in your principles.
"mhm" he hummed, the movements of both of you getting slower as the song progressed. jisung's lips brushed softly against yours pratically begging for a kiss, but you knew that it was way too early for that.
you turned around on your place, your back now pressed to his chest, as you continued to dance against his body. his hands were glued to your waist and ocasionally would visit your hips, moving at the same rythm as you did. a different song was playing right now, but you didn't even noticed as your mind was flooded with thoughts. who was changbin with? was she his girlfriend? was he still there watching you? were you dancing with jisung just to piss him off? and most importantly, why did you feel the need to make him jealous in the first place?
before the trail of thoughts continued on your head, jisung's hand traveled from the tip of your fingers to your left shoulder, his fine digits dancing around your naked clavicles. "did i tell you that this dress looks amazing on you?"
his voice, the trace of his fingers and his scent made you act completely dumb around him, it was almost painful to watch. with a swift movement, you were now facing him again and kept on moving slowly. "i don't think so"
"well" he said, leaning one more time to leave a faint kiss on your lips "you look amazing on that dress"
and without expecting an answer from you, he kissed you.
his lips tasted exactly the same as his scent. the mixture of cherries, strawberries and alcohol intoxicated your five senses, making you unable to think about what you were doing. the kiss was everything except rushed, as if he was taking his time to taste every single inch of your lips and tongue. his hands were resting on your waist and lower back and the song that was now playing just fit the whole mood the both of you created, right until...
"do you mind?" a man's voice asked while you felt a grip on your forearm.
"give me a break man" jisung said, interrupting the kiss. it was no other than changbin, standing right in the middle of you and jisung.
"she is drunk" changbin said, almost in a threatening tone.
"i am not" you responded, trying to get out of changbin's grip.
"we are in the middle of something here" jisung insisted, trying to get between you and the grip changbin had on your arm.
"i'm not in the mood for a chat, han" his voice turned ten times deeper and his body language reminded you of that night at itaewon "i'm taking her home because he drank too much"
"let go off of me"
but he did not let go of you and continued dragging you across the whole courtyard and into the living room. "aren't you supposed to be with your girlfriend?"
you started to curse him openly, but he wouldn't slow down his pace. he took you out of the house and into his car without even saying a word.
"you are acting as if you were my owner" you grunted, looking for your phone inside of your purse "you just love to order me around, don't you?"
"that didn't seem to upset you at the bar and your house" he scoffed, his voice going completely cold as ice.
"you bringing that topic now is just miserable" you laughed as he started the car "i was about to enjoy a good night of fucking, something i never got to do with you because you are a coward"
changbin's jaw tensed up and you could feel how the car started to go faster.
the adrenaline of changbin's jealousy, the alcohol, jisung's taste and the speed of the car were making you feel particularly bold tonight, something you knew you would regret the morning after.
"why do you tense up?" you asked, teasing him "i know you wanted to fuck me so bad but still decided to not jeopardize your future for a night of sex"
you were not completely sure, but it was kind of obvious that changbin wasn't driving to your house. you tried to catch a glimpse of the street names as if that was going to be helpful to a foreigner, but it was too dark outside.
"you are not going to talk now?" you asked him, taking off your high-heels as your whole body rested on the car seat. "you were so bold a few minutes ago, trying to act like a fucking man intimidating jisung at chan's house. two nights of oral sex and i have that much of a grip on you, changbin?"
he wouldn't respond, and that only made your blood boil even more.
"you are so fucking pathetic" you muttered, looking directly at him as his gaze was completely fixed on the road.
the car took a sudden turn and parked right in front of a complex of apartments. without hesitation, he got out and opened the door for you, carrying you into his shoulder inside the elevator of the lobby.
the scene was pretty much awkward as you faced yourself into the elevator mirror. your hair was completely messed up and your lipstick was a bit smudged but other than that, you looked completely sober. not only that, but he knew that you weren't drunk. he just made that excuse.
the doors of the elevators opened on the 12th floor and you were glad that no one was waiting for it outside, otherwise they would've seen your ass on changbin's shoulder.
"you know i'm not drunk, right?" you said, still resting on his shoulders while he took his keys from the pocket of his black pants
"just shut the fuck up for a moment" he said, carrying you and leaving you standing inside of his apartment as he turned all the lights inside on.
"i knew your behavior as a gentleman was a fucking act and you only did that in front of your parents and arthur"
"you are so annoying" changbin whispered as he walked towards the black leather couch in the middle of the living room of his apartment. you followed him and walked right behind him.
"i don't have anything to do here, changbin" you mumbled, his back turned against you. you wanted to tease him, you needed to. for an unknown reason, you felt the sudden urge to make him mad, to make him explode. you needed things to escalate quickly so he would give you another reason for you to hate him even more "i can't believe i should be fucking with jisung right now but instead i'm-"
before you could finish that sentence, you felt changbin's grip on both sides of your neck "go on, keep on talking"
the lack of oxygen, the sudden movement of changbin against your body and his gaze flooded with anger made your legs tremeble "keep on fucking talking"
you could barely swallow by how hard his right hand was grasping onto your neck "look at you" you whispered with broken words, smirking as your eyes unconciously closed because of the pleasure "are you jealous, changbin?"
"why don't you answer the question, y/n?" he asked, his hold on your neck becoming softer as his lips approached your right ear "how did you felt when you saw me with that girl earlier today?"
an ironic laugh left your lips, trying to shield yourself from the obvious thing. "i don't know what game you are playing, changbin, but i didn't felt shit"
"really?" he hummed, his raspy voice near your ear made you squeeze your thighs together unconciously, and even though his hand was merely just resting on your neck, the arousal you felt from his grip was still there. "i know you saw me with her, and i could tell how that made you dance for jisung more... enthusiastically"
"you are wrong" you replied, pushing him slightly away "and pathetic, getting jealous when you were the one who cutted things off since the beginning"
"he is an asshole" changbin said with a mocking and sarcastic tone, his fingers tracing the naked skin of your arms as he licked his lips "and i must protect you, like arthur said. isn't that right?"
"he is a good kisser" you answered "i bet he fucks better than you too, not that i would know though because i never got to fuck with you"
changbin's eyes drifted from your skin to your eyes in a matter of miliseconds and for the first time in the evening you regretted saying something. "you are just begging for me to fuck you, aren't you?"
"don't get confused" you spitted "i don't want to have anything to do with you"
his hand traveled slowly to the end of your dress, lifting it up and reaching for your, now soaking, panties. his digits traced your slit and you swallowed hard in anticipation for whatever humiliating thing he was about to say. "are you sure?"
he removed his fingers from your core and were now glistening thanks to the light coming from the window of his apartment. "look at me and tell me that you don't want me to fuck you"
"look at me and tell me that you didn't felt jealous when you saw me with jisung" yo fired back, a faint smirk appearing on his face.
"i did" he admitted "i can't even begin to explain how mad i felt at the sight of your precious body pressing against his. all i wanted to do at that exact moment was to fuck you right in front of everybody, including him"
his hands toured to your back, unzipping the dress you were wearing as he looked directly into your eyes trying to decode if you actually wanted this or not.
"i know what i said last week" changbin mumbled, his fingers helping you to drag the straps on your dress all the way to your wrists "but your existence is fucking me up"
your heart started to beat even faster, your breath accelerated "and it wasn't until i saw you with someone else where i realized that i needed to make you completely mine, even just once"
you soon found yourself in your underwear right in front of him, his eyes looking at you up and down several times making you feel intimidated. you had two options: loose your self-control for the third time and do something that you truly wanted to, or leave his apartment feeling proud.
but you already made that choice when you didn't fought back enough to stop him from driving you to his place.
"please ruin me" you whispered, your soul immersed in arousal, guilt and regret.

~
With the sirens blaring and workers scrambling, the team had to get to work. And fast.
“Quick!” Ace commanded, readying his blaster. “Slam! Lexi! Let’s get these blasters blasting that boiler!”
Together, the three of them got into position and took aim at the boiler, causing Duck to yelp and teleport away before they started firing. In no time, the boiler was back in the green and rising quickly.
“Hey Lexi, hold your fire.”
“Alright.” She followed his command, and they all watched as the dial evened out safely in the green range, the sirens quickly going silent. Lexi let out a relieved breath and rubbed her ears.
“Hmm… that really should not have happened,” Wattney said as she leaned down to look under the boiler. After a deep frown took over her face, she looked around and pointed at an employee. “Naohmi?”
“Yes ma’am?”
“Where is the extra fuel I ordered?”
She scratched her head. “Grideon said it was going to take a while to convince the wood guys to deliver while their supply is already low.”
“And nobody thought to tell me this?!”
“Grideon said he told Spike to tell you.”
“I have not seen Spike all day!”
A passing worker chimed in. “Spike twisted his ankle this morning on the way here from communications and went to the hospital.”
Wattney inhaled sharply, her synapper whining in response. After a moment, she slowly released her breath, the synapper relaxing afterward. “Okay. Okay…” She turned back to Ace and the others. “So… this… may be a problem.”
Lexi crossed her arms. “Let me guess, Tech and Rev have way less time to fix everything before the power runs out?”
“That is correct. I hope those ‘blasters’ last long enough for them to complete their work.” She hummed in thought, before turning back to her workers. “Naohmi,” she singled out again. “Since you do not have a synapper, please inform Rev, and also Tech, that they may want to hurry if they are not already doing so.”
“Got it, ma’am.”
As she trotted off, Lexi spoke to Wattney again.
“I hope you don’t mind that we’re still a little on edge around the synappers, especially Rev.”
“It is alright. While I do trust that you are all safe here, if I had a negative experience similar to what occurred for you all, I would be nervous as well.”
“And I’m sure the synappers mean well. I mean, you said they just try to help out, right?”
“Of course.” Wattney affectionately gave her synapper a few pats. “This job can be so stressful. I could not imagine what my time working here would be like without Joule to keep me company. She has been such a wonderful presence whenever I had almost gotten too stressed.”
“You know,” Lexi said, smiling at Joule, “getting to see them up close, I think they’re actually kinda cute.”
Joule chirped cheerfully.
Across the floor, Tech had just finished returning what he took from the supply room. He closed the door behind him and fell back against it, letting out a loud sigh. As it turned out, using his magnetic manipulation to test the rotation balancing of an enormous turbine was pretty exhausting. It took a moment, but eventually, he collected himself and made his way to the console.
“How’re you holding up, Rev?”
“Uhhhh… good,” he said, smiling unconvincingly.
“Still worried about the synappers?”
“Wh- It’s- I mean…”
Tech stepped closer, placing his hands on Rev’s shoulders and smiling reassuringly.
“Listen, I meant it earlier when I said you’d be alright. I promise. Nothing bad’s gonna happen to you.”
Rev frowned, looking away.
“Hey.”
With a soft whine, he returned his gaze.
Tech patted his shoulder. “Look, even if one did get you, look who’s your best friend! You couldn’t take me down no matter how hard you tried. And that means I’ll always be there to get my best friend back, right?”
After a moment of hesitation, Rev smiled back. “Right.”
“Right.”
They lingered a little longer, before Rev cleared his throat and broke eye contact.
“So did you have any trouble with the generator?” he asked.
“Uhh, nope,” Tech said, pulling away awkwardly.
Rev tsked mirthfully. “Okay yeah sure that’s why I saw you get completely incinerated while tinkering with something.”
Clearing his throat, Tech avoided eye contact. “Ah, I… forgot about your positioning ability…”
“You know, honestly you really should be more careful sometimes, because while it’s great to have a friend who’s always smoking hot, I prefer when it’s in a figurative sense rather than a literal one.” Rev got out half a laugh before choking at the realization of what he said.
They both stared at each other with flushed cheeks before Rev scrambled for words.
“Haha I uh,” he coughed awkwardly, “I think I might still be, uh, still stuck in pick-up line mode from earlier. Yeah, that’s why I uh, said what I did. It was just a joke because obviously I’d-”
“Rev, right?”
He flailed and yelped upon hearing a woman suddenly speaking beside him. Quickly enough he noticed her synapper-less head and relaxed.
“Yeah, is there something you need to tell me and my friend Tech here?”
“Wattney wanted me to let you both know that the shipment of fuel she was expecting might not come anytime soon and you both might want to hurry.”
“‘Hurry’ is my middle name don’t worry we’re on it there’s nothing to worry about my greatest friend in the whole universe Tech and I are the best at doing things quickly and not wasting any ti-MMM!”
“On it! Thank you!” Tech said through gritted teeth.
The woman glanced between them before jogging away.
He released his hold on Rev’s beak. “Did you get a good look at the code yet?”
“The code, right…” Rev mumbled, rubbing his beak. He turned the laptop to show Tech and whined. “Sorry, but it took forever to transfer. Thankfully I got the copy saved pretty quick, though. Anyway, I didn’t get much time to look at it before you got here, but I can already tell from a glance that there may have been some pretty bad data degradation on top of the already outdated program.”
“From just a glance?” Tech peered at the screen before immediately covering his face. “Okay. Yep. I’m gonna be seeing that in my nightmares.” With a huff, he uncovered his face and put his hands on the keyboard. “But even so, it’s our job to fix this hot mess. Let’s see if we can salvage anything and rebuild the rest.”
“You’ve got it Tech. I’m here to help as always.”
~
Ace grunted as he rubbed the arm he currently had blasting the boiler.
“Hey Lexi, You mind swapping places with me? My arm’s getting sore.”
“Sure thing.”
Quickly, Ace deactivated the blaster and made room for Lexi, who began firing soon enough that the boiler dial barely moved during the entire process.
“What about you Slam?” Ace asked. “Think you wanna swap with Duck?”
Slam let out a weary moan, nodding slowly.
“Okay, sure,” Duck huffed. “Just volunteer me yourself, why don’t you?”
“Oh, sorry Duck,” Ace snarked with an unimpressed glare. “It was wrong of me to assume you’d want to help stop a quarter of the planet from blacking out.”
“Hey! It’s about the principle of the matter!” he protested as he walked over. “I, being the extraordinary hero I am, would have volunteered myself. I didn’t need you to force me into it.”
Ace handed over his blaster while rolling his eyes.
“Okay, Duck. I get it.”
Duck let out a “hmmf!” as he took Slam’s place.
“I’m going to check on Rev and Tech,” Ace told Slam. “You coming with me?”
Slam hummed a negative, pointing to the deactivated blaster in his palm and uttering something that ended with, “in case.”
“That’s fair. Well, give me a holler if you need me back here.”
Slam nodded before Ace headed off.
The closer he got to the generator console, the louder the sounds of furious tapping and page flipping became. He quirked a brow upon reaching them, giving an especially puzzled look to Tech, the source of all the page turning.
“I thought you said you memorized everything?”
Tech’s ears went back and he smiled sheepishly.
“I uh… may have exaggerated a little.”
“Hmm…” Ace blinked for a moment, before turning his attention to Rev. “So, I’m taking it that things aren’t going great?”
“It’s a disaster!” He screeched before clearing his throat. “I mean, you know. It’s fine.”
“…Sure.”
Tech closed the book he was going through and went to Rev’s side, leaning over his shoulder. He looked at the screen before groaning.
“I can’t believe I’m saying this, but… I’m completely lost.”
“Right?! I just don’t get it! All this code is supposed to do is control a geothermal generator and some sensors, and yet it’s harder to read than an Italian cookbook that’s been tossed into an ocean!”
“And the cookbook would probably contain less spaghetti,” Tech agreed.
Ace frowned, taking a few steps back. “Uh… yeah… I’ll… just leave you guys to it.”
On his way back to the rest of the group, he spotted Wattney coming into the power room. Taking a quick detour, he jogged up to her.
“Back from communications?” he asked.
“Yes, and unfortunately, I have more terrible news.”
“Oh?”
“Turns out that we will have to pay an exorbitant amount of money for another firewood shipment due to their low supply and our necessary immediate delivery.”
“And let me guess, it gets better. And by ‘better’ I mean ‘worse’.”
“Correct. Since I spent most of my personal savings on the backup generator and the government has denied my request for more funds, we are completely out of luck.”
“Jeesh. And you’d think they’d have a vested interest in not letting their people lose electricity.”
“Ace!”
He and Wattney turned their heads, seeing Tech running up to them.
“What’s up, Tech? Finally figure everything out?”
“Haha! No!" he replied, somewhat manically. “We’re scrapping the entire program and building it from scratch!” Tech ran his hands down his face and screamed into his palms. “Anyway, since Rev’s currently getting started on the new code, I wanted to know if there’s anything you need me for while I have a minute.”
Wattney let out an uneasy moan. “Well, unless you know how to create some sort of fuel for the boiler from thin air, I do not think there is anything you can assist us with.”
“Uh… no. Breaking the laws of physics to create matter from seemingly nothing is Duck’s area. Though, I wouldn’t rely on his power orbs unless it was an emergency, as they often create liquids or plasma that would make a mess.”
“I will keep that in mind.”
Tech crossed his arms with a frown. “I take it the ‘maybe’ on the extra fuel has turned into a ‘not happening’?”
“Essentially, yes.”
Humming in thought, Tech glanced at Lexi and Duck who were still firing at the boiler.
“Well, assuming that the sirens going off for the second time is when you switched to the Retro Fire Master Blasters, and that having two fire at a constant rate is enough to keep the boiler running, Rev and I should have enough time to create and implement the new code and get the main generator running before the fuel in the blasters completely run out.”
“I’d say ‘knock on wood’,” Ace commented, “but we’re currently all out.”
“I guess you’ll have to trust science rather than superstition for now.”
Rev’s voice rang out from over at the console. “Tech could you come over here?!”
“Gotta go,” Tech said before running back.
“I should probably head back to check up on the rest of the team.” Ace turned to Wattney. “You coming with?”
“Yes. It would be ideal for me to stay close by to monitor everything.”
“Alright then. Hope it’s not too boring just staring at us doing almost nothing.”
“In a situation such as this, ‘boring’ is a welcome outcome.”
~
Lexi and Duck’s arms were slowly beginning to shake with exhaustion. Eventually, a loud sigh was heard as Lexi decided she’s been at it for long enough.
“Slam? Are you good to take over for me? I think I need a break.”
“Uh huh,” Slam grunted affirmatively as he stepped up to continue heating the boiler in her place.
Ace, who was standing back with Wattney, noticed the switch and spotted Duck’s shaky aim beside Slam.
“Hey Duck,” he said, walking over, “is it break time for you too?”
“Ha! Absolutely not! It’s not like it takes effort to point at a big metal can for a few minutes.”
Lexi crossed her arms. “It’s been at least an hour. Don’t hurt yourself trying to look tough.”
“I am tough!” Duck shouted. “Watch me; I can do this all day.”
Right at that moment, the blaster’s beam fizzled out and died.
“Well,” Duck said, “I mean, I might as well take a break now.”
“Lexi, quick!” Ace ordered. “Hand me your blaster!”
She passed it over and right as the sirens began to blare, Ace got them to quiet down.
“Okay then…” He sighed in relief, then quickly got his mind back on track. “Duck,” he called out.
“What?”
“If you wanna keep being helpful, why not go tell Tech about the blaster running out of fuel? It might help him know exactly how much time he and Rev’s got to fix everything.”
“Got it! An easy task for the amazing Danger Duck!”
“Just go already…”
“I am!” Duck huffed before teleporting across the room.
When he appeared at the console, only Rev was there, furiously typing away.
“Where’s your boyfriend?”
Rev let out a frustrated whine. “If you mean my best friend and not boy friend,” he said, pointing behind him, “Tech went to the generator to rework some connections before reinstalling the protective casing.”
“Thanks. I’ll say you blew him a kiss for good luck.”
“Don’t tell him that! He’s just my friend even if we’re really close and-”
“Later.” Duck was already walking away.
After walking a short distance, he found Tech fiddling with some wires. He strolled up to him and was immediately met with a suspicious glance.
“You need something?”
“Your boyfriend blew you a kiss for good luck.”
Tech rolled his eyes. “Yeah. Okay. Sure.”
“What? Not gonna say he’s ‘just a friend’?” he mocked.
“Why waste my time arguing when you already know that?”
“I don’t know. I figured you’d at least try a little to deny that you’re head over heels for him.”
“How I feel about him is my business. Same goes for how Rev feels about me.”
“Please. Neither of you are being subtle whatsoever. It’s obvious you’re both into each other.”
“That might be true, but that doesn’t give you the right to barge into our private lives.” Tech finished with his current set of wires and began walking to another.
“Wait!” Duck exclaimed, scrambling behind him. “You know that Rev likes you?”
“You already said we weren’t being subtle.”
“Yeah but, I thought you were too stupid to realize it.” Duck completely missed how Tech stared daggers at him. “Why else would it be taking you so long to ask him out?”
“Because, and I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but Rev has some things to work through. He doesn’t even seem comfortable with the mere implication that we could ever date.” Tech continued working. “So, he needs time to sort himself out, and you trying to push him into it isn’t going to help.”
“And waiting a million years for Rev to stop being dumb will?"
“If that’s what it takes,” Tech said, unamused.
Duck scoffed. “Or… you can go up to him, and give him a big ol smooch. That’ll help him figure it all out real quick.”
Tech rolled his eyes again, dismissively asking, “are you seriously requesting me to commit a violation of my best friend’s personal boundaries in the pursuit of accelerating his self discovery and reflection on personal biases?”
“Uh…” Duck said, attempting, and failing, to parse Tech’s words. “…Yes?”
“I’ll pass.”
“Oh, you’ll pass alright, of old age before you guys ever get together.”
“Tsch." Tech moved to another set of wires.
Duck followed him.
“Come on. He and I are fellow birds, so I’d know what’s good for him-”
“Ducks and road runners don’t even share the same taxonomic order.”
“-and what’s good for him-”
“I technically have a closer relation to Ace and Lexi as we at least share the same magnorder.”
“-and will clue him into everything-”
“Not to mention your personalities couldn’t be any more different.”
“-and make getting together with him way faster-”
“I’m also fairly certain you’re at best a college dropout.”
“-Would you stop interrupting me?!”
“I’d never take your advice regardless of if I listened or not.”
Ducked groaned. “You won’t even consider it?! Don’t you want to kiss him?!”
“What I want is irrelevant. I would never in my right mind do anything to violate Rev’s trust.”
“Whatever. Enjoy being single then.”
Tech growled. “Did you actually come over here for anything important?! ”
“Oh right,” Duck said apathetically. “One of the blasters is out of juice and Ace wanted me to let you know.”
“What?! When’d it run out?!”
“A few minutes ago.”
“How long was it firing at the boiler?”
“Well, we swapped them around about an hour ago, but I think this one was being used the whole time. Why?”
With a groan, Tech started rewiring more quickly.
“Since each of them started with an equal amount of fuel and you swapped one of them out an hour ago, that means Rev and I only have an hour to fix this thing before the remaining two run out of fuel and we lose power! And, with how difficult our work has been, finishing everything before then will be near impossible!”
“Uh oh.”
“Yeah, ‘uh oh’! Now go tell Rev and the others what I just said and let me work!”
“Alright. On it.” Duck made it a few steps away before pausing. “You really should think about it though. Rev’s gonna take forever to ‘sort himself out’ unless you do something.”
“Go,” Tech growled.
“Okay!” Duck yelped before teleporting out of sight.
Once he finally left, Tech let out a scoff. “Seriously. I’d have to lose my entire prefrontal cortex before even considering doing something as idiotic as giving him a surprise kiss right now.”
At the console, Duck appeared beside Rev again. “Tech said you’ve only got an hour to fix everything.”
“An hour?!” Rev started typing even faster. “Wonderful! Just wonderful!” he said, sarcasm extra thick. “I just love having only an hour to finish an entire program!”
“Well… I’ve gotta go,” Duck said uncomfortably before he teleported back to the others.
When he got back, Lexi and Slam were idly chatting with Wattney. Or, more accurately, Lexi and Wattney were chatting while Slam listened off to the side.
Lexi noticed his return and waved. “Finally back?”
“‘Finally?’ I was plenty quick about it!”
Ace glanced at him before returning his focus to the boiler. “So, what’d Tech say?”
“The blasters are gonna run out in an hour. Also, both Rev and Tech are freaking out.”
“Oh. Perfect…”
Wattney pursed her lips. “Excuse me for a moment,” she said. “I am… going to review evacuation routes with my workers.”
“Pshh!” Duck dismissed. “Everything’s gonna be fine. My team always saves the day, even if they’re sometimes pretty slow about it.”
Lexi rolled her eyes before patting Wattney’s arm. “It always helps to be prepared, so don’t let any of us stop you from trying to keep your workers safe.”
“Thank you. I will return in a few moments.”
As she left, Duck crossed his arms, glaring at Lexi.
“Why would there even need to be an evacuation in the first place anyway? Even if we failed, which we won’t, all that would happen is the lights going out.”
“You do know that means all the workers would be stuck in a massive pitch black building, right?”
“Uh… Huh…” Duck scratched his chin. “You know, sometimes I forget other people don’t have night vision lenses attached to their suits. I guess that means they would need a plan.”
“Speaking of plans,” Ace said, “we should have a plan for when the blasters run out.”
“Uh, activate night vision?” Duck remarked.
“ No! Just because the blasters can run out of juice, that doesn’t mean it’s completely over if they do. You, Slam, and I still have powers that can keep this thing running.”
“Hmm…” Duck looked down at his own hands, grinning wildly. “You’re right! Imagine that; The basters fizzle out, but there’s no need to fear! Danger Duck, with his amazing powers, keeps the planet bright by single handedly tossing molten eggs at the boiler!”
“Ehh… maybe Slam and I should be up first. Our powers are a bit less… messy.”
“Hmmf! You think I couldn’t do it?”
Lexi patted his shoulder. “Think about it this way,” she said, “if they get tired before Rev and Tech finish up, that means you get your time in the spotlight to truly save the day!”
“You’re right,” Duck nodded. “It’ll be even more impressive when I’m the last line of defense.”
Slam and Lexi shared an unimpressed glance, before giving each other a shrug.

Hints & Histories
A JSE Fanfic
Yall better appreciate this one lol I’ve been caught in the middle of finals and still managed to find time to write this. Honestly, it’s a miracle. I was genuinely convinced I wouldn’t be able to finish. But I did. Even if it’s mostly a series of short conversations. Newson returns, for the first time in forever. Chase and Marvin try to get information and allies for their investigation. And JJ and Schneep...are still stuck and it sucks. And that’s it. Hope you enjoy :)
You can find the other stories under the pw timeline tag!
Someone was at the front door. They had been for the past minute or so, knocking regularly every couple seconds. Given the very clear ‘No Solicitors’ sign out front, this person was either a very stubborn salesman or visiting for some other reason.
But Jennifer Newson—formerly Dr. Newson, now unsure if she had the right to call herself that—didn’t trust visitors who dropped by without a call. They were usually strangers, and not the nice kind who were all “Oh I baked too many cookies so I’m delivering them to the neighborhood!” No. Recently, all the unexpected visitors she had were either journalists or there to tell her what an awful person she was. Which...they had a point. But it didn’t give them the right to harass her.
Still, out of curiosity, she peeked through the peephole in the door. The visitor was a dark-haired woman, wearing a brown jacket. She kept checking the time on her phone. Worried about something? Did she have somewhere to be? That possibility only further intrigued that curiosity. Newson hesitated, then slowly opened the front door a crack. “...hello?”
“Hello, I am sorry to bother you.” The woman’s voice was instantly familiar. Or rather, her accent was. “I just wanted to ask you some things. You are Newson, yes? The doctor who was on trial?”
“Why are you asking?” Newson narrowed her eyes suspiciously. She’d instantly known where she heard that accent before, and her mind was already forming connections. Could this woman know Henrik von Schneeplestein? A friend, perhaps? If she was, there could only be unpleasant reasons for this visit.
“I wanted to talk to you,” the woman said. “My name is Mina Pfeiffer—”
“You’re his ex?!” Newson blurted out.
“No! No, we are not exes,” Mina said. “We may have separated, but we did not get a divorce. It is different, a-and for different reasons. Anyway, can I talk to you?”
Newson was too shocked to say anything at first. What was Henrik’s ex-wife—or separated wife, whatever—doing here? Again, Newson was struck by the thought that nothing good could come from this. “I’m sorry, I’m actually uhhhh busy right now.” She started to slowly close the door. “You know how it is. Sorry.”
“Wait!” Mina hurriedly put her foot in the door, just in time to prevent it from closing. “This is not what you think! I am not angry with you.”
...That was even more unexpected than her appearance in the first place. Newson was stunned into silence again, for a significantly longer period of time, as she processed the possibility that someone so close to Henrik wasn’t angry at her. Was this...a trick?
Mina tried to fill the silence. “I know, I probably should be. And I have to be honest: I cannot say I...like you. But I need to—I-I need to know everything that happened. I have seen the news stories, and I’ve talked to the other doctor at the hospital, but...I-I don’t know. I do not know. I think you could help.”
Newson couldn’t help but laugh. Without opening the door any further, she said, “If you saw the trial, you know I was fucking awful to your husband. Why would you want my help for anything?”
“Because nobody will talk to me!” Mina’s voice cracked. “His friends hate me, Dr. Laurens was nice but I know she cannot discuss details. I even tried to find some of Henrik’s coworkers, but they were all busy and awkward and didn’t want to talk to me. I-I have—” She let out a small breath, heavy with exhaustion, and ran her hand through her hair. “I have been trying so hard to make up for the lost time. I-I need to talk to him so badly. But then, Dr. Laurens says he is...gone. Again. That he has been taken. So I cannot do that, a-and I...might not be able to ever again.” She pauses, blinking.
Unconsciously, Newson has opened the door a bit. It was...scary. Having someone so close to you disappear. She knew that. “You never know. The police could find him,” she said gently.
“But if they do not, I am missing this time,” Mina said quietly. “I need...I need to know what happened to him while I was gone. So that I can...” She pauses significantly, hesitating to finish that sentence. “I just need to know. Everything. You are the last person I can talk to.”
Newson laughed again, grimly. “Things must be really bad, then.”
Mina didn’t say anything more. She just...looked at her.
After a few moments, Newson sighed, and opened the door. “Alright. I can talk to you about him. It’ll put me in a horrible light, but I’ll help.”
Mina brightened up immediately. She started to step forward, but then hesitated. “You will tell me...everything you know? Even though it will make you look bad?”
“Yeah. I mean, I can’t hide from it, you know? I was...terrible. Can’t pretend I wasn’t, that’s how you stay stuck.” Newson sighed. “At least, that’s what Tom says.”
“Who?”
“My, uh...counselor,” Newson said awkwardly. “I should have gone to see someone sooner, but—a-anyway, I get it. You’re missing someone, so you’re trying to do what you can to make up for that. Seeking out information is pretty harmless.” At least compared to what she herself did in that same situation. “So...yeah, you can come on in. You don’t have to stay, though. If you decide you actually do hate me.”
A pause. “Thank you very much,” Mina said, her voice almost a whisper.
“You’re welcome, I guess.” Newson stepped aside so Mina could come in. She really hoped this wouldn’t turn out to be a mistake.
But...somehow, she didn’t think it would be. Maybe it was because...for the first time in a while, she felt there was someone who knew, if only a little.
——————
“I must say, I’m surprised to see you, Mr. Brody. Is everything okay? People don’t usually just drop by the police station.”
Chase laughed awkwardly, shifting in his chair. For some reason, he was flashing back to the couple times he’d gotten in trouble in elementary school. Probably because it was the same setup, with him sitting across from an authority figure sitting at a desk. But this was different. Detective Nix was much nicer than his school principal. Of course, he also had the power to get him in much more trouble. So maybe that was why he was a bit nervous. “No, everything’s fine. I was heading somewhere else and this was on the way. I, um...I wanted to ask you about something.”
“Oh?” Detective Nix idly straightened some of the papers on his desk. “And what is it?” He sounded like he already had a good idea.
“Well...” Chase hesitated. “I just wanted to know if you could...like...tell me how the case is coming along. With the search. And stuff.”
Nix nodded, his expectations fulfilled. “You know you could have called me. You still have the number I gave you, right?”
“Yeah. But, uh, like I said, it was on the way.” Chase laughed again. God, why was he laughing? That didn’t sound suspicious at all. Not that there was any reason to suspect him of anything illegal. Nope. Just nerves. “Anyway...do you guys have anything new? Figured out?”
A pause. Then, Nix sighed. “Mr. Brody. If you’re worried about us being able to find Anti and your friends, you don’t have to. The police force is very capable, after all.”
“You didn’t manage to track down Anti or Schneep during those nine months.” Chase immediately regretted saying that the moment the words left his mouth. He hadn’t meant to; it was just a knee jerk sort of reaction.
But, surprisingly, Nix gave him a small smile. “Well. That’s true. But that was because this Anti was well-supplied, with various stashes and safe houses across the city, and probably outside of it as well. Now, we know about his existence, we’ve found many of those safe houses and confiscated their contents. And, with your help, we’ve even uncovered his website on the dark web. He’s running out of places to hide, and it’s really only a matter of time before we corner him.”
Chase nodded. “I know, I know. I’m not doubting you guys or anything. I don’t know why I said that, really. Sorry.” He took a deep breath. “But...even knowing you guys are on the case, I’m still worried. A bit less worried, but...still. That doesn’t just go away. And I’d really like to get updated on what’s happening. Preferably...frequently? If it’s not too much trouble.”
Nix stared at him. The silence that followed could not have been longer than a few seconds, but it felt like minutes to Chase. What he said, about being worried, that was true. But he and Marvin had decided they would no longer sit on the sidelines and wait for something to happen. They were going to look into this on their own. Which required information. And that was the true main purpose of his stop by the police station.
It was also why he was so nervous. Sure, doing an investigation on their own time wasn’t illegal. There was nothing saying that only the police could look into cases. Private investigators existed, after all. Not to mention true crime shows and podcasts did their own amateur investigations anyway, and those weren’t against the law.
But still. He was nervous. If Nix, an experienced detective, figured out what they were planning and tried to talk them out of it, Chase was worried he would cave easily and give up. And that meant going back to just watching...and waiting...and worrying. And he was so tired of that. He so badly wanted to help, and this was what he could think of doing.
“Alright, I can tell you a couple details,” Nix finally said, breaking the silence. He leaned back in his chair and pulled open one of his desk drawers. “Just so you know we’re on the case.”
Chase slumped in relief. “Thank you.”
“It’s no problem.” After a short moment, Nix pulled out a file and set it on the desk, opening up to a printed street map of the city. “Here’s an example of our progress.” He pushed the map towards Chase, which had circles and dots on it in pen. “Those circles are where we suspect Anti has safe houses and weapon stashes. If it’s crossed out, that means we’ve found something there. Those two scribbles were mistaken locations.”
Chase looked over the map. “That’s a lot of X’s,” he muttered. There were about ten circles drawn on the map, and only three remained un-crossed out.
“Exactly.”
“How’d you find all these places?”
“Well, it appears that Anti has himself a symbol. Hang on.” Nix pulled a loose piece of notebook paper out of the stack on his desk, then grabbed a pen from the nearby cup and started drawing. “It’s a semi-common practice, often used in gangs. It signals to other gangs, as well as anyone deep in the black market or various criminal enterprises, that this territory belongs to them. Anti seems to be using it for a similar purpose. Possibly to either attract his ‘customers’ or warn off threats.” And Nix slid the drawing across the table to Chase.
At first, the symbol appeared simple. A circle, inside a diamond, inside a square. But in actuality, it was a bit different. The ‘circle’ was actually a dot inside a hollow circle, and the left and right corners of the diamond were curved. The overall impression was that of an eye tilted ninety degrees so it was vertical instead of horizontal. “Huh.” Chase furrowed his brow. “Isn’t that...the one...?”
“That your friend Henrik saw, that led us to finding the first safe house with your friend Jackie inside,” Nix nodded. “It was painted on the street sign, but we’ve also found it scratched on fences and spray-painted on building walls. Never any bigger than hand-sized. It always means that Anti has something nearby.”
“That seems...kinda stupid, honestly,” Chase muttered. “If someone figures it out, it’s all over.”
Nix shrugged. “Gangs usually bank on the safety of numbers, thinking we’d be too scared to get in a fight with them. But in this case, we know it’s just one person. Not as much risk.”
Chase nodded slowly. “Um...can I keep this?”
“Sure.” Nix shrugged.
“Thanks.” Chase folded up the paper and put it in his coat pocket. “Uh...do you have any ideas...where Anti himself could be?”
“Hopefully, at one of these remaining locations,” Nix said, gesturing at the map again. “We haven’t found the symbol at any of these places yet, but we’re looking. And if he’s not in any of those, well, there’s only so many places in one city someone can hide.”
Again, Chase nodded. But what if...what if they weren’t in the city? What if Anti had fled, taking Jameson and Schneep with him? He pushed the thought out of his head. No, he shouldn’t assume things that they had no proof of. That wasn’t good for his mental state, he knew. “Thanks, Detective,” he said, standing up. “Can you...You have my number, right?”
“I’ll call you with any updates,” Nix assured him.
“Thanks.”
Nix tilted his head. “You have a good day.”
“Yeah, you too. Bye.”
“Goodbye.”
Chase turned around, trying not to walk too fast as he left the police station. He came for information, and he was walking away with some. Not as much as he would have liked. But it was a start.
——————
Marvin took a deep breath as he stood outside the door. It was cool. Everything was okay. Nothing to worry about. In fact, shouldn’t he be happy? He was visiting a friend, one they had feared they’d never see again. That was great. He was just anxious. That’s all.
He cleared his throat, and stepped inside the room.
Jackie yelped, sitting straight up in bed and wildly looking around. He calmed down when he noticed Marvin, but still looked a bit shaken. “By jesus! Marvin!” He leaned forward, breathing out. “You almost gave me a heart attack.”
“Sorry, I thought you’d noticed me. I mean...the door is open. I was standing right there.” Marvin shifted awkwardly on his feet.
“You were. I was just, uhh...not paying attention,” Jackie said.
Marvin narrowed his eyes. The TV wasn’t on. Jackie didn’t have a book or a phone or computer. When Marvin had approached the doorway—and stood there for quite a while—Jackie had just been staring at nothing. Marvin assumed he didn’t say anything for some other reason, but...“Daydreaming again?”
“Yeah,” Jackie mumbled. “But hey. You’re here now. C’mon, sit down.” He gestured to a nearby chair.
Walking closer to the hospital bed, Marvin grabbed said chair and pulled it over. He sat down slowly. “So...How are you?”
“Uhhhh good, I guess. I mean, all things considered.” Jackie shrugged. “I can, like, walk better. But apparently I still have to stay in bed most of the time, unless it’s for physical therapy. Kind of boring. But that’s fine.”
“You’re...impatient, right?” Marvin asked. “It’s only been like two weeks, you know. This kind of thing doesn’t just fix itself overnight.”
“No, no, I know that.” Jackie waved off Marvin’s comment. “Doesn’t make it better, though.”
“Yeah.” Marvin nodded understandingly.
“Especially since...” Jackie hesitated. Then he scooted a bit closer to Marvin. “I met up with Jack a few days ago. He told me...he told me that Anti got Schneep again.” His voice cracked.
“...he did,” Marvin growled. “Fucking freak.”
Jackie was gripping the edge of the hospital blankets. He squeezed them tight, wringing them back and forth. “I—I can’t stop thinking about it,” he said quietly. “Schneep...Hen. The thought of—Anti—and Hen being stuck there again, it’s—it’s just awful.”
Marvin nodded awkwardly. He wasn’t sure if Jackie was looking for reassurance or just venting his anxieties. “Do you...want to talk about it?”
“About what?”
“I—I don’t know. Why it’s so awful, I guess.”
Jackie looked at Marvin directly in the eyes—something that his friends rarely did, since they knew how Marvin wasn’t comfortable with eye contact. “Because Anti is fucking terrible,” Jackie said, dead serious. “Nobody else was there. I know how he interacted with Schneep. I-it was...” Jackie took a deep breath. “Are you sure you want to hear about this?”
“If you want to talk about it,” Marvin said evenly.
“I-it was just—the things he did, Marvin. It was like the whole thing was a game for Anti. I mean, I wasn’t there for all of it. Hen and I were separated a lot, I was stuck in the basement most of the time and he was upstairs. But what I did see a-and experience...fuck, man. I’d go a few days without seeing Schneep, maybe even a week or two, and then he’d show up again, a-and he’d just be a wreck. Half the time, he’d be sobbing because of what Anti made him help with. The other half, he wouldn’t even know where he was, o-or what he was doing there, because Anti would feed him a bunch of these lies, fucking...deliberately twisting his delusions.” Jackie shuddered, his tone disgusted. “Fucking...evil. Evil is the only word I can say.”
He paused, but then continued. “I-I remember one time, Schneep came down the stairs, and I had to just sit with him because he was terrified. He kept saying ‘Anti gets power from speaking his name,’ over and over, in English and German, too. Crying about Anti’s eyes being in the ceiling, or something. Calling him some sort of shadow monster. A-and I had to—I had to help him. He was having another panic attack, and I had to ground him.” Jackie’s eyes grew distant. “It...it hardly ever worked. Usually he just wore himself out and eventually fell asleep. I wonder if Anti was drugging him or something. Using some sort of substance to make it all worse. Because...it never worked. It never worked. He was just so...so scared of it all.”
Marvin couldn’t say anything. He was stunned, shocked speechless. Even if he could put the horror he felt into words, his throat had closed up. All he did was shake his head.
Jackie buried his face in his hands. He took a few more deep breaths, until the shakiness eventually subsided. “Sorry, Marv,” he mumbled. “You didn’t come here to hear all my trauma.”
“U-uh a-act—” Marvin struggled on his words for a bit before giving up and turning to sign language. Actually...I did come here to talk about something serious. I guess it’s related.
Jackie looked up at him. “What d’you mean?” he asked cautiously.
Chase and I are going to investigate, Marvin said. We’re going to find out where Anti is, and where Schneep and JJ are.
“...what.” Jackie blinked. “You...are going to...Marvin. I’m not sure if you know this, but that’s exactly how I got kidnapped. And I have experience in investigation.”
We’re not going to confront him or anything. Might not even go to any physical places. But we have to do SOMETHING, Marvin emphasized. So, if we can at least figure that out, we can tell the police and they can do all the dangerous shit.
“...okay.”
Marvin made a strange choking sound. “Y-you—just—like that?!”
Jackie smiled sadly. “I told you, right? I can’t stop thinking about Schneep being back there. And JJ, too, fuck. Anti was pulling every trick in the manipulation book on him, and it’s probably even worse now. So. Yeah. What can I do to help?”
Honestly, Marvin hadn’t expected it to be this easy. He didn’t know if Jackie would want to talk about the serious stuff. But apparently, he did. So...might as well. “Um...just talk about what you remember, I guess. Like, any details that might help find him.”
Jackie nodded. “Right. Of course. This detective came by a while ago, asked about the same thing. Only fair that you guys know too. Apparently the police have found a whole bunch of locations, including the first house.”
“First house?”
“The one Schneep and I were trapped in,” Jackie explained. “And Rya, too—er, Dr. Laurens. You know her?” He waited for Marvin to nod. “Yeah. She was there for a bit, but she escaped. And after that happened, Anti moved me back to that second house, where the police eventually found me. Well.” He paused, thinking about it. “Actually, I was in that flat for a while.”
“...you were in an apartment?” Marvin asked, confused. “Do the police know about that?”
“Yeah, yeah, I told them, too. It was—okay, let me start over.” Jackie sat up straight, holding his hands out in front of him as if indicating the length of something. He gestured vaguely along this imaginary length, silently getting his thoughts in order. Putting together a timeline. “Okay. I track down Schneep. He’s in this house with Anti, and I get caught and also kept there. That’s the first house. After months, Anti abandons Schneep or something, and for some reason takes me to this flat. I don’t remember much of that trip, I was drugged for most of it. But eventually, we go back to the first house. Rya—Dr. Laurens—is there for a while, then she escapes, and Anti takes me back to the flat. I think he was out of sedatives, because I was conscious for this. Then JJ gets caught, and Anti takes us to a second house, where we stay until he decides to take just JJ...and Schneep, apparently. And leaves me behind.”
Marvin nods. “So, those two trips to an apartment. You’re sure it was the same place both times?”
“Uh-huh. I recognized the wallpaper and stuff.” Jackie shrugged. “Probably not all that reliable, considering the drugging I mentioned before, but I’m like 90% sure.”
“Huh.” Marvin pulled his fingers. “Sounds like he retreats to this apartment or wherever when things get tight for him. It sounds like the two times he brought you there, he was worried about information about him getting out through Schneep or Dr. Laurens.”
“I thought so, too,” Jackie muttered.
“Do you think he’s there now?”
Jackie blinked. “Huh?”
“I mean...if he goes there when shit gets rough, and the last times he did was because he lost a hostage or whatever, wouldn’t he do it now?” Marvin reasoned. “After all, you could tell the police information same as Schneep or Laurens.”
“...huh. I...hadn’t thought of that.” Jackie sat back, and considered it. “But...I know about this flat. Would he risk going there?”
“You don’t know anything about what’s outside, though, right? And that’s what’s important.”
“You’re right, I don’t.” Jackie looked at Marvin, impressed. “Good job, man. I didn’t catch that possibility. You ever think about being an investigator?”
“Nope. Sounds like too much pressure.” Marvin shrugged.
“But...you’re doing investigator stuff right now.”
“Yeah, but only for JJ and Schneep. I can’t imagine doing it for strangers like you do. Seems...overwhelming,” Marvin said carefully.
Jackie gave him a small smile. “Well...if you ever change your mind.”
“I’ll make a note of that.” Marvin returned the smile, then dropped it, going back to the serious matter at hand. “Now. Is there anything else you remember?”
——————
Laurens wasn’t sure why she continued to come in to work. She hadn’t had anything to do for the past two weeks. Dr. Fells didn’t want to assign her any more patients because of the “pressure she must be under,” and without patients, there was nothing for a psychiatrist to do.
Yet, it seemed a good thing that she kept clocking in. Because visitors kept coming here looking for her.
She was working the front desk today. Technically, she didn’t have to, but again, there was practically no job for her without anyone to work with. So, she volunteered to take over the desk during her shift so that busier people could do their duties. She was idly playing solitaire on the desktop computer when the front door opened. And when she looked up, she saw a pair of familiar faces.
“Oh cool, you’re just right here.” Chase smiled and waved at her, quickly closing the distance between them as Marvin followed.
Laurens nodded at them, faintly surprised. “Um...hello. What are you two doing here? You know, now that...” She hesitated to say it. “Well, there’s no reason to.”
“We, uh, wanted to talk to you, actually.” Chase fidgets with the zipper on his jacket. “See...we had this idea. We really wanted to, like, do something to help. You know? A-and we thought...you might want to help, too?”
Laurens stared at him over the edge of the desk. “Sorry, I’m a bit confused. Help what?”
“Uh—”
“So you remember how I broke in here?” Marvin asked. “To do some investigating? We’re gonna do more of that.”
“Breaking and entering?!” Laurens asked, alarmed.
“No, investigating!” Marvin hurried to correct. “We’re probably not gonna break into anywhere.”
“He means we’re definitely not going to do that!” Chase added, somewhat panicked. “Because that’ll be illegal and dangerous!”
“Okay, okay, you don’t have to be so loud about it.” Laurens was still unsure what the two of them were proposing. “What do you mean by investigating?”
Chase coughed, clearing his throat. He leaned closer to Laurens, across the front desk. “We’re going to try and find Schneep and JJ.”
Laurens blinked. “...wait. You mean...like vigilantes?”
“We were thinking more like private eyes,” Marvin said.
“But...don’t you need a license for that?”
“Actually, no,” Chase said. “I mean, you can get one. It gives you some credibility. But it’s not required by law, according to Jackie. At least, not in the UK.” He paused. “He has one, though. Says it makes it a lot easier. But, uh...we’re not becoming investigators. We’re just...looking for them. On our own. And...we wondered if you wanted to help.”
“I...” Laurens had to process this. Honestly, it seemed like a very dumb idea. Because...what if, in the course of looking for their friends...they found them? And, therefore, found Anti? What would he do if he knew they were searching for them? “Ar-aren’t the police handling this? You two really don’t need to—”
“We’re not going to just wait,” Marvin interrupted, frustrated.
“Well, why not?” Laurens stood up from her seat at the desk. “Yes, it’s terrible waiting, but it’s a lot less dangerous than looking for a serial killer!”
“Look, we might be in danger anyway,” Marvin said. “We’re friends with the two guys who Anti seems to be obsessed with. I wouldn’t be surprised if he decides to kidnap or murder us one day.”
“Grim, much?” Chase muttered.
“Grim, but possible,” Marvin insisted. “So, might as well try to do something along the way.”
Laurens started to protest again, but then stopped. Didn’t Marvin have a point? After all, Anti had...taken her, as well. Just because she was assigned to Schneep’s case. She didn’t like reflecting on the month she’d spent in captivity with Jackie, but that didn’t erase it from the past. Or erase the possibility that Anti could, once again, try to find her. She shuddered. “...alright. I guess...I can help a bit. I don’t really have much else going on, anyway.”
Chase and Marvin exchanged a look. Happy that she agreed, but also not forgetting the seriousness of what they were doing. “Thanks,” Chase said softly. “Is there...a time we can get together to talk, or...?”
“I have a pretty regular schedule. My shifts are around ten to three each day,” Laurens said.
“Great. Neither of us have anything to do, really. My only thing is when I have the kids over for the weekend, and it’s Monday so they’re already back with Stacy.”
“Yeah I got nothing. Sooner the better,” Marvin added.
The three of them talked for a few minutes before agreeing to meet tomorrow at 3:30, with Chase’s house as the designated meeting spot. Once they decided on that, the two men quickly left the hospital, with Chase once again thanking Laurens for agreeing to help them. Marvin didn’t say anything, but he nodded every time Chase thanked her.
Now alone again, Laurens sat back down, leaned back in her chair, and let out a long, slow breath. She couldn’t believe she was doing this. Her every instinct was screaming “Danger! Danger! You’re going to get killed!” But...Anti had already planned to do that. So, really, what was stopping him from doing that on his own? Marvin was right. Might as well try to fix this mess on the way. So, even if she was still uneasy about it, she would try. She would try.
——————
It had been two weeks exactly. JJ could tell that Anti was going crazy being stuck in the tiny apartment. He was spending more and more time pacing about randomly, or muttering to himself angrily while on the computer. When not doing either of those two things, he was either messing with Schneep—he tried to do it when Jameson wasn’t paying attention, but JJ could still hear the things he was saying to Henrik—or pretending everything was normal.
That seemed to be his new strategy for dealing with Jameson. Pretend everything was normal. Like they were a normal family, and not, in fact, an assassin/serial killer and his estranged brother who he’d kidnapped. At first, Jameson tried to resist this strange new change. It was...weird. But that only led to Anti’s mask cracking, giving in to threatening him and Schneep. So, now? Jameson just went along with it. Not to say he cooperated. But he didn’t cause any trouble. Maybe, if Anti slowly lowered his guard enough, JJ and Schneep could find some way to escape.
Part of the “normalcy” strategy was dinner. For the past five nights, Anti had dragged Jameson over to the apartment’s kitchen, where there was a small square table set up, and made him eat dinner with him. As if that could convince Jameson to be friendly again.
Either way, Jameson refused to participate. Every night, he would just sit there quietly, listening to Anti talk. Afterwards, he would go back to the bedroom to bring Schneep some food, since he wasn’t allowed out. He’d stay there, talk with Schneep some more, and eventually fall asleep, waiting to see if the next day would bring an opportunity to get out of here.
This night was no different. At around 6:00, according to the living room’s wall clock, Anti put away his computer and silently appeared in the bedroom doorway, staring at Jameson until he stood up and followed him into the kitchen. Tonight was soup. Not that it mattered. The same thing happened anyway, they sat down, and Anti started talking about something or other.
It was always the same. Why? Didn’t Anti know by now that this wasn’t going to get Jameson to like him again?
Maybe he knew. But maybe, he just wanted to pretend.
“—swear to god, it’s like they’re trying to be as annoying as possible.”
Anti sounded irritated. Jameson briefly snapped out of his internal reflection on the fruitlessness of this exercise, wondering what he was going on about tonight.
“Maybe I just never noticed it because I never spent this long in this place,” Anti was saying. He scowled. “But I don’t think that’s it. I think they’re new in the building. Fucking hell, though, I swear they’re tap dancing up there. Have you noticed it?”
Jameson blinked, and said nothing.
“Of course you have, not sure how you couldn’t,” Anti continued. “It’s at like three a.m., too, fuck.”
Wait a minute. Jameson actually knew what he was talking about. A couple times the past few nights, when he couldn’t sleep, he could hear the sound of heavy footsteps from upstairs. It didn’t help the sleeping matter. Partially because of the noise, partially because it was really bizarre to think about other people, going about their lives, completely unaware of what was happening literally beneath their feet.
“I don’t want to talk to them or anything,” Anti muttered. “Don’t want to show my face to anyone around here. It’s very identifiable.” His tone sounded bitter as he unconsciously reached up to touch the scars on his face. “And I don’t even have anything here to make a proper disguise. Shit sucks.”
Jameson started to space out again. This wasn’t anything important. He looked down at the table, stirring his soup with a spoon. He wondered where all the utensils were. He hadn’t seen any in the two weeks he and Schneep had been stuck here.
“Luckily, nobody here cares. Which is good, that’s why I picked it out. This neighborhood sucks, most people know not to poke their heads into places where they might lose it.” Anti chuckled, but then his expression darkened. “Although...there was this one guy. A real fucking pox. He’d show up at everyone’s doors asking them to keep the place neat. Shut the fuck up, nobody cares about neatness in a place like this.”
Where was this apartment located, anyway? That bit about the neighborhood sucking was the first hint Jameson had gotten about that. Huh. Maybe, if he figured it out, he could then find some way to get a message about where they were to...someone? The police, maybe?
“He might’ve just been annoying if he hadn’t gotten all hot about the graffiti.” Anti leaned back in the chair. “Wanted to find out who in the building was doing it. And at that point, he crossed the line. Can’t have anyone paying too close attention to that.” A smile twisted his face. “Well. Doesn’t matter now. That guy’s been taken care of.”
He said it so casually. Jameson tried to keep his expression neutral. It didn’t matter. He already knew what sort of person Anti was. Anti had made that abundantly clear two weeks ago, when he’d left Jackie behind.
Was he still talking? He was. Jameson gave up on paying attention and let his mind wander. He wondered if Schneep would be awake when he went back to the bedroom. Wondered if he’d ask him about how dinner went. Wondered if...if Anti would follow through on any of his threats he’d made towards Schneep.
Well. According to Anti, that depended on Jameson.
And he knew he couldn’t let that happen.
So, for now, he sat at the table and pretended to listen to Anti. Pretended Anti was right, in thinking everything would go back to normal.
——————
It was late into the night by now. Newson could see the moon through the gap in her curtains. She couldn’t remember the last time she spent so much time with someone. And of all the people, it was Henrik’s ex-wife. Neither of them had meant this to happen. But somehow, they were here now. Honestly? Newson strongly suspected the half-empty bottle of wine on her coffee table had something to do with it. But she didn’t care.
“It’s the chance that...that we could have missed this, you know?” Mina was saying, half-lying and half-sitting on Newson’s sofa. “I think we never should have took a break in the first place. That everyone was right, I should have stayed by him both times.”
Newson leaned back in her chair, settling against the upholstery. “What was the deal in the first place? Why’d you take that break? Fighting or something?”
“He started to act strange,” Mina said. Her eyes glazed over with recollection. “Looking back now, I recognize the symptoms. But at the time, I just thought he was having weird mood swings from stress. I did worry he was depressed. But he did not want to talk about it. Eventually, out of nowhere, he accused me of...of...ah, what’s the word? Being...unfaithful.”
“He thought you cheated on him?” Newson repeated, surprised. “You seem really nice, though.”
“Danke. I mean, Thank you. But see, this is the strange part. He thought the other man was my tennis instructor. But...I do not have one. I like playing, but only with friends, for fun. Why would I have an instructor? And I think, at the time I think, I think...” Mina stumbled over her words for a bit. “I think he is wanting me out of the picture for some reason, and making up an excuse. So I say, ‘we take a break.’ And we do, and then about a month later he realizes the truth. This disorder that he has.”
“But you said you wanted to get back together, right?”
“Well, this is the thing. We were starting to. Around in...last June...ish.” Mina shrugged. “His idea. But he was not quite sure, so he didn’t want to be public about it in case we didn’t fit anymore. I say, yes. I want this. And...and things were all going great. Until that August.” Her eyes started to tear up. “And then I left. And I never should have done that.”
“Hey, I mean, it’s not your fault, is it?” Newson shrugged, mirroring Mina exactly. “Everyone was fooled. That other guy, uhhhh I’ve forgot his name, but the real bad guy. He did a good job of setting him up. We all thought he did it.”
“His friends hate me now,” Mina muttered. “Because I left.”
“Tell them to fuck off next time you see them. I bet they thought he did it, too.”
“I should have come back sooner.” Mina leaned forward, rubbing the sides of her head. “Before he was taken again. Because now...now I may not see him again. I may not get to tell him I’m sorry, or that I really...I really still love him. Or that...” She trailed off. “They’ll never meet. A-and I cannot bear to think of that. I should have come back sooner. Should have kept up with the news. But I did not. And now I’ve missed him. I-I cannot see him again. It’s too late.”
Newson fell quiet. Then, she nodded. “It sucks, doesn’t it? It’s like having a hole inside you.”
“You understand?” Mina asked, looking up.
“Kinda. It’s not exactly the same thing, but...kinda.” Newson paused. “I had a brother, you know. Jeremy. We were twins, each other’s only family. But he’s gone now. I thought Henrik killed him, but apparently it’s that other guy who did it.” She blinked. “That lost time...I hate it. I hate that we’ll never celebrate our birthday again. Or that I can’t text him and ask if he wants to go to dinner at that new shop that opened recently. Even the little things, you know? Like, he used to constantly complain about people vandalizing the building he lived in, talked about all this little graffiti. It was annoying, sometimes, but...now I miss it. He was determined to find the culprit. But he never did.”
Mina nodded. “The little things. Henrik and I would watch TV together. Only with each other.” She giggled a bit. “He would always complain when a character was injured and then instantly got back up. He said it was inaccurate and no fun, anyway.”
It was strange to hear these things about Henrik. And, really, it made Newson feel even worse than she already did about how she treated him. For the longest time, he was just the bad guy in her mind. The one who killed Jeremy. Not someone who had friends and a job and a partner. Not someone who did things like complain about TV shows. Maybe that was why she didn’t have any problem doing those things. Hard to be cruel to someone you knew was a person.
“...Mina. Listen.” Newson sat straight up. “You have a chance.”
“Huh?” Mina glanced at her, confused.
“Henrik isn’t dead. I don’t think this bad guy would hurt him. Er...at least not permanently. You have a chance to talk to him a-and watch TV shows together again.”
“Jennifer, they can’t find him,” Mina said softly.
“Well, then, you fucking do it. I don’t know.” Newson shook her head. “And if you can’t, get help. Henrik had friends, they’re probably as upset as you are.”
“Did you hear me? I said they probably hate me now.”
“I dunno,” Newson said vaguely. “Maybe they’ll put that aside if you’re real with them. Like you have been with me. I mean, seriously. How did this happen?”
Mina didn’t say anything, but she still looked unsure.
“Hate is a product of love,” Newson said quietly. “If you love someone, you hate those that hurt them. Even if it was an accident or misunderstanding or you only thought you knew what was going on. Henrik’s friends love him a lot. He’s lucky like that. Not everyone has that. So it makes sense they’re defensive of him. It’s not really your fault. After all, you didn’t mean any harm. So you have that going for you.”
“It is getting them to listen that’s the problem,” Mina mumbled.
“Well they can’t listen if you don’t talk,” Newson pointed out. “You gotta try, at least. Maybe you start out with the big news. You know. Come right out and say it. That’ll get them to think about it further.”
“I think...you are right,” Mina said tentatively. “It will be tough. But I have to try.”
“You have to,” Newson repeated. “Oh. And, uh, if I can give you any other advice? Just...about life in general? Don’t...hate. Even if it seems right. It’s just poison.” Her voice fell quiet. “It’s just poison.”
Mina stood up, staying surprisingly steady. She walked over to Newson, and took her hand, squeezing it tight. “Thank you,” she said softly.
Newson rolled her eyes. “It’s still weird to me that you showed up. But...well. You’re welcome, I guess.” Her voice softened. “I should be thanking you, actually. So...thank you. You’re a good person.”
Mina smiled a bit. “I will be seeing you, then.” And without another word, she left, heading out into the hall. The front door opened and slowly closed.
Newson stared at the moon out the window for a moment. She leaned back into the chair. “You’re a good person,” she repeated. “Better than me.” She closed her eyes, and slowly drifted into sleep.

secrets that you keep → peter parker
Tumblr media
DESCRIPTION ⌙ in a consolation trip back to europe, the kids of midtown high are eager to have a normal vacation, finally. but you on the other hand are on a mission. something weird is going on with peter parker, and you’re going to figure it out.
PAIRING ⌙ peter parker x fem!reader
WORD COUNT ⌙ 2.4k
*:・゚✧*:・゚✧
“-smaller group than before, but we’ll still have fun guys. the tour company has made precautions for you kids. there will not be a repeat of last year.” mr. harrington babbles.
you sink lower into the bus seat. you did not want to be back in europe. truthfully you want to be anywhere but here. wherever, here, was. no one knew. cell service went out about five miles back and the bus driver didn’t speak english.
“yeah guys, don’t worry. this trip is going to be ten times worse than the last. it’s already started bad since we don't know where we ARE!” flash yells, running a hand down his face.
mr. harrington tries to calm him and the rest of the bus down, to no avail.
you block out the commotion and stare out of the bus window. grass, farm, cattle, shack, more grass, more farm. and not one single cell tower in sight. this is it, you think, this is how it ends, stranded in a foreign country with the most annoying people you’ve ever known.
“guys, GUYS! my service is back,” betty yelps. “it says we’re in wiveliscombe, and that it’s going to be three hours until we reach london.”
her words are met with groans.
“at least we have cell service now.” jokes peter parker, who’s sat in the seat across the aisle from you. he’s cute and nice, but weird. last year’s trip he had about a thousand excuses as to why he’d leave the group and if it happened this year, you were gonna figure out why. no matter what it took.
“mhm, and since we have access to the endless possibilities of the internet again, we don’t have to talk..” you huff.
“i.. sorry. i didn’t-” you cut him off by placing your earbuds back into your ears and turning the volume up.
something about peter irked your nerves in a way you couldn’t understand. maybe it was the way he knew fucking everything. maybe it was the way his body became incomprehensibly fit in such a short period of time. you really couldn’t understand that. even went as far as to do research on steroids, but found there was no way he could be using those. most probably it was the nonsense of his idiotic excuses. he might be able to fool everyone else, but not you. you knew there had to be something going on.
he and his stupid cute little brown curls, button nose, and six pack were under your firm watch.
by the time the bus reached the hotel the sun was beginning to set. jet lagged and in need of a long shower, you’re one of the first to fly into the hotel.
“It's me and you for the next week.” mj smiles, holding out a room key for you. truthfully, you really liked mj. she was cool and liked a lot of the same things as you. but she had one fatal flaw in your eyes, she used to date peter parker.
it was a short lived relationship, almost everyone saw it as a fling. peter and mj were just… too different. but they remain close friends.
it’s not like you were jealous... just, a tad bit jealous. besides, that ship had sailed and your goal wasn’t to end up like mj on the last trip to europe. no, you had other plans.
“cool. we can watch murder mysteries tonight and grab some snack from the convenience store down the street.” you grin.
the rooming situation for everyone else took entirely too long. it started with flash being upset that his room requirements weren’t being met. he wanted nothing to do with a roommate. this, caused his previous roommate, zander, to object to rooming with someone so, ‘coddled’.
took a full twenty minutes to resolve the issue.
“mj, you still wanna visit the national gallery tomorrow?” asks the one and only peter parker.
“uh, yeah. y/n, wanna join?” she questions.
you were ready to object, finding it far more intriguing to stay in and sleep but then you remembered your little mission. if you wanted to figure out what peter parker’s deal was, you’d have to be around him.
“sure. nothing better to do.” you shrug, peering straight into peter’s eyes.
“i, uh- i thought we’d get an early start to the day. ned wants to go on the jack the ripper tour, so that gives us until one to look through the museum.” peter rambles.
“alright, me and y/n will meet you two down here around ten thirty.” mj clarifies.
“see you then. night mj,” he looks to you. “goodnight y/n.”
you narrow your eyes at him, “sleep tight parker. busy day tomorrow.”
with that you and mj enter your room, ready to sleep off the jet lag. and soon enough, sleep carries you into her open arms, preparing you for the day ahead.
the next morning consists of peter and ned rushing in and out of their room. the duo forgetting nearly everything they needed for the day. it was extremely annoying. but you’d take watching the two ninnies scramble about over this tour you’re forcing yourself to get through right now.
the national gallery was proving to be a bore. maybe it was you. or maybe it was the dull ass tour guide. either way, you’re finding it hard to focus on any of these artworks around you.
“this is the arnolfini portrait. it’s the work of jan van eyck and it is believed to depict an italian merchant named giovanni di nicolao arnolfini. this painting has remained in the national gallery since 1843.” the tour guide drones.
you peer up at the art, searching for anything to interest you about it. you try to focus of the dark green of the woman’s dress, then the small dog, but nothing about this art is appealing to you. instead, you find the whispered conversation going on behind you to be much more intriguing.
“ned how am i going to make it all the way to japan and back here before the ripper tour?” peter grumbles.
japan?
“i don’t know, but i really don’t want to go on a tour of the most infamous and creepy serial killers of all time without my best friend.” ned whispers.
“but mj will be there, and.. y/n.” peter assures.
“great. they both creep me out. that’s like, two extra loads of creepy added onto the already creepy tour.” ned huffs.
“dude, i have to go… mr. stark is waiting on me.” peter pleads.
you hear ned give an annoyed, “fine.”
you wait a few seconds before turning around to face peter’s friend.
“where did peter run off to?” you ask, as innocently as you can.
“uhhhh- the bathroom. the uh, hotel bathroom. yeah, must have been those tomatoes he ate with his breakfast today.” ned gulps.
“mhm. well i think i’ll meet up with him. he shouldn’t walk all the way back alone.” you smirk, shoving past ned and running the direction peter went.
it took a good minute to find him outside, the boy running into a bakery. but once your eyes find him, you rush straight in, right behind him. eyes narrowed and full of questions.
the brown haired boy quickly enters a bathroom and you grin.
no escaping now, parker.
you wait outside the bathroom eagerly. only for minutes to pass. no sound escapes the room and you furrow your brows.
you knock on the door, no answer. annoyed you open the door, only to be met with an empty bathroom.
an empty bathroom with an opened window.
what the fuck?
*:・゚✧*:・゚✧
“we’ve been upgraded!” mr. harrington gleams, looking down at our tired faces.
“last time we were upgraded we almost died.” betty sighs.
“ah- what did i say, we’re not going to repeat last year,” harrington retorts. “now...how do you guys feel about paris?”
well those words certainly livened up the breakfast table. train tickets are soon passed around, and you study yours, spoonful of yogurt still in your mouth.
“hey y/n, mj and i are gonna go to the louvre when we get there,” ned grins. “wanna come with?”
you chuckle, “another museum? nah, i’m good.”
mj quirks a brow at you, “this museum is home to the mona lisa. it’s not just any museum.”
“and the mona lisa is not just any painting… it’s an ugly one.” you huff.
ned guffaws at you.
“honestly, i might skip out too.” peter says.
you turn to face him, “great. you and i can explore paris while mj and ned explore another museum.”
he shifts in his seat, “i dunno i was thinking of-”
mj cuts him off, “i think that’s a great idea y/n. don’t you, peter? you remember what harrington said.. no repeat of last year.”
her eyes are cold as she awaits his answer and he fidgets more in his seat.
“i just think it might be best for me to stay here… ya know in case mr. stark needs anything.”
you roll your eyes, “dude, you’re just an intern. what could he possibly need that his other ten thousand interns can’t do.”
“technically he only has like six other… interns.” peter mumbles.
“but uh.. they can handle whatever mr. stark needs from you. i mean they’ve been av- uh, interns, for a while.” ned says, eyes pleading with his friend.
peter sighs before smiling at you, “alright, me and you versus paris.”
no peter parker, me and myself versus your dirty little secret.
somehow you got to sit next to peter in an empty train car for the ride to paris. and holy shit.. could he talk.
his eyes did have a way of lighting a fire inside you as he talked but, that, was not the point.
it was between an empty car with peter or full car sat between flash and harrington.
peter is always better than the latter.
“-anyways, how’d you convince your parents to let you go back to europe?” he asks.
“i didn’t. they made me.” you say simply.
peter slumps into his seat a little, “uh, why?”
“because when they were younger they traveled the world. i dunno, i guess they expect me to want to as well.”
“oh. well, are you enjoying it so far.” he asks.
i’d enjoy it more if i could figure out your damned secret, parker.
“sure.”
and then, finally, peter is quiet.
but not for long, as the train comes to a screeching halt.
over the train speakers comes a booming voice, “veuillez rester calme. le train s'est arrêté en raison d'un dysfonctionnement du moteur.”
your body tenses and you look at peter, “please tell me you understand french?”
“a little.. i dont think we need to worry. they said it’s just an engine malfunction.” he nods, looking around the train car.
you try to breathe.
everything is okay. there’s no evil robots coming to destroy a train car with two innocent teenagers. that’s so pre civil war. just breathe.
suddenly a loud bang is heard from the car behind you. not just any bang… a gunshot.
“holy shit.” you whisper, stiff as a board.
peter on the other hand is rummaging through his bag.
“parker! what the fuck are you doing?” you hiss.
“i.. just trust me okay? when i tell you to run… run.”
you look at him with a scowl, “i’m not going to be the sacrificial pig for slaughter, asswipe.”
he rolls his eyes, “i’m going to run with you. we’re going to find an empty car and then… wait for spiderman.”
you blink. the kid’s gone insane.
“peter. listen, i know coping with your own inevitable death can be hard but, spiderman.. really?” you groan.
another loud bang comes from the car behind you.
peter looks at you, taking your hand in his.
the door to your car bursts open.
“run!” peter yelps, rushing into the next car, the gunmen not far enough behind.
“holy shit i’m gonna die.” you scream.
peter throws something at the gunmen when the two of you enter the next car, separating the two of you from the monsters.
but the kid didn’t throw just anything at them. motherfucker threw a damn door. a metal train door.
by the time you process the information, peter is pulling you into a cramped bathroom.
“i don’t have much time but basically, hi, i’m spiderman. those guys back there are people tony stark pissed off really bad and i need you to hide in here until i fix this issue.”
with that he pulls his jacket off revealing the spiderman suit you’re so used to seeing on the news.
“that’s your secret? this entire time i’ve been hanging around you trying to figure it out, and it turns out you’re spiderman. i would have thought anything before fucking spiderman.” you dwell, eyes wide.
he slips his mask on, “wait, you only hung out with me because you thought i had a secret? i mean.. i did but-”
another loud bang interrupts him, “nevermind. we’ll talk about this later. stay here and don’t tell anyone what i just told you.”
you nod, and watch him exit the bathroom.
so much for “not a repeat of last time.”
*:・゚✧*:・゚✧
“at least it wasn’t witches this time.” mr. dell sighs.
your entire fourth period groans.
“what! our world is infested with witches now. i don’t even know why i’m teaching science. i’m gonna turn around one day and suddenly i’ll be teaching witchcraft.”
your eyes return back to your desk, staring a hole into the old wood. your trance is broken by a crumpled piece of paper. you roll your eyes and turn your attention to peter, who after europe has been watching you like a hawk.
you open the paper to see, ‘listen, mr. stark said i need to get written evidence that you won’t spill the beans. please sign below.’
you grimace but sign at the bottom of the paper and hand it back to your new ninny friend.
that’s right. friend. despite being one of the most annoying people on the planet, with the weirdest secret ever.. peter was nice. he was really nice. he liked almost everything you did and listened intently to whatever you had to say.
“earth to y/n.” his voice calls from beside you.
“oh? is class over?” you ask.
he nods and holds his arm out to you. you take it and give him a half smile.
you may find peter parker to be the weirdest dude ever, but you can’t deny that the secret superhero is starting to flood your mind. you never thought you’d be the one to say it, but peter parker is the coolest weirdo you’ve ever met.
and besides, your mission was a success. you figured out his secret and obtained a friend along with it.
well, friend, until you could complete your newest mission.
telling him you like him. like, a lot.

Fun fanfiction idea:
Miles crossdresses to avoid being seen in public, and knowing him, it's very convincing. Except for the fact that he's still wearing the exact same shade of red and his hair extensions are the same color.
Maya immediately recognizes him, but Phoenix, being his dense self, takes longer.
Alright which one of you bastards just put me on freaking read? How dare you read me like a freaking children's novel. YOU KNEW I COULDN’T RESIST THIS. Featuring Gender non conforming Miles Edgeworth. Also on AO3
“Earth to Nick.” A cold plastic bag was dropped on his head.
“Ack!” He turned around on the park bench to glare at her. “What was that for?”
“You’ve been totally checked out for like the last ten minutes!”
“I was not! I was completely focused!”
“On what?!” Maya demanded pulling out the ice cream from the bag she’d hit him with and flopping down on the bench next to him. Tearing one open.
“Uhhhh…” His cheeks heated as he glanced back to the focus of his attention. Grabbed the other ice cream to try and cover it. “Nothing.”
It was just… She was beautiful. Silver starlight hair that framed her face and flowed down the curve of her spine. The way her dress hugged the wide expanse of her chest. Pinched down to her narrow hips. The magenta billow of the tail of her dress that still allowed him to see the garters around her muscular calves and thighs when she turned.
She was breathtaking. Just objectively. The kind of women Mia would ask him what kind of conclusive proof he was wearing around his neck to get her to even consider dating him.
She took a step forward in those two inch heels and he swallowed. She was probably at least his height if not taller. Would he have to bounce up on the balls of his feet to kiss her? She’d turn her face up with a teasing smirk and deny him. Did you want something Phoenix?
You know what I want!
Do I?
A kiss! Please!
And that teasing smile would grow just a little bigger and the crinkle under her bespectacled eyes a little softer. Oh I suppose I can do that. She’d angle herself a little lower and kiss him and-
So he might have been a little romantically horny.
Her dog, a big fluffy creature dropped the neon tennis ball at her feet. Play lunging. Tail raised and wagging in anticipation.
She scooped up the ball in her tennis ball throwing… stick. Whatever those were called. Smile widening. His chest twisted. She said something to the dog.
You wanna go? You ready? Is my sweet girl ready?
The dog wiggled. Excitement growing.
She threw back her arm. Go get it! Flung the ball across the park.
Her fluffy beast hurtled after.
“Oh my God Nick.”
Cold ice cream dripped onto his hand jolting him back to his body. He hastily licked it up. Face hot. “Shut up.” I’m allowed to look! I was an art major! I can appreciate beauty while realizing that I’m not allowed to touch!
Or interact in any way with someone so far out of my league.
Gods. She’s pretty.
“Nick is that Edgeworth?”
His head snapped to her then. She wasn’t staring at him laughing at his plight. She was looking at someone in the park.
“What?! Where?!” He tried to follow her gaze to the prosecutor in question. It would be strange to see him out an about. Was he dressed like a normal human being? Was that why she was so surprised? Was he ordering a hot dog from a stand in full Edgeworth Regalia? Gods was he on a run in shorts and a too tight tee, sweaty and slightly disheveled from the exercise?!
He scanned the park as Maya gaped. Jaw working but infuriatingly silent. “Where Maya? I don’t see him.”
If I miss seeing Edgeworth in running shoes and shorts you’re buying your own dinner!
She weakly raised her hand and pointed. Finger shaking.
To… The woman in pink?
He laughed. “What are you talking about Maya?” Just because they’re both gorgeous silver hair people with a preference for light red- bordering on pink-
She cupped her mouth. “Miles Edgeworth!”
He grabbed her. “What do you think you’re doing?!” He glanced at the woman. “See she didn’t even respond!”
“She- he – FLINCHED NICK. It’s TOTALLY HIM! Oh my god!!!” She started to stand. He tried to force her back onto the bench before she humiliated him in front of one of the most stunning people he’d seen in months.
She wiggled free and dashed out towards her.
His life was over. For a moment it flashed in front of his eyes.
… Less of it should have been spent buying food for the woman who was about to be listed as his cause of death!
He scrambled after her. “Maya no!”
“Oh my god! You look so good! Your makeup is on Point!”
“Uh.” She raised the tennis ball stick between her and Maya hiding behind it like a tiny ineffective shield. Face blossoming red. “T-Thank you?” She squeaked out. Her eyes flickered nervously.
Silver. Even her eyes where silver starlight.
He shoved Maya’s head down in an apology bow. “I am SO sorry about her.”
Straighten.
She was taller than him in those heels. Just an inch or three.
His little bi heart was going to give out.
“I-it’s fine.” She laughed airily. Hand grasping at the crook of her elbow as she stared pointedly away.
That felt… Familiar.
“I’m jealous how well you pull that outfit off!”
Her dog trotted right up between them and sat down firmly in front of her. Leaning into her legs and thighs.
Her hand released and buried itself in the thick fur of their fluffy mane.
“We… We should be going.” She fumbled for the leash holstered like Franziska’s whip at her hip.
“Miles?”
She- he – They? Flinched.
Oh. Oh fuck.
“What?! You don’t have to!”
“Don’t run!” He begged hands splayed out wide. Miles looked very much like they wanted to run. “Fuck I’m sorry we won’t tell anyone!”
The hand twitched. Almost to the leash. The dog whined.
Both hands were buried in their mane.
“Did you just curse?” Maya stared at him wide eyed like she’d just found an even better target. Deflated slightly at his and Miles face. Forcibly brightened and clapped her hands together. “What’s your dogs name?”
“… Pess.”
“Aren’t you the handsomest little man Pess? What a sweet puppy!”
“Pess is a lady.”
“The prettiest lady!” Maya immediately began to coo.
He rubbed the back of his neck staring off at the tree line. “Like… You?” He tried to ask.
“Ngh… Not… Not as such no.”
“Oh. O-okay. I mean- it’d be fine if you were! You really do make a pretty lady!”
Fuck.
“Yeah Nick couldn’t stop staring at you!”
MAYA.
“Is… that right?”
He chuckled nervously. “Haha. Maybe? Uh would we… Talk?”
“I… suppose.”
“Can I throw the ball for your dog then?”
“Ah.” He looked at the stick. Handed it to her. “Sure.”
They sat on the bench. Miles tucked the tail of the dress under them. Long fingers splayed on their thighs.
“Sooo… Um.”
“If you’re going to laugh just do it already. Go on. Laugh!”
“…”Miles turned their face away as they spit out the demand. His chest clenched for entirely different reason. “My pronouns are he him?” He tried. The fingers eased slightly as Miles turned and peered at him through those silver bangs. “What are yours?”
There was a long pause as Miles studied him. Face dropped back to their thighs. “He him is fine. Although I do not object to they them in private.”
“Does now count as private?”
“Well I certainly don’t want you using he him right now.”
“Got it.” He threw an arm over the bench and stared at them. Even more breathtaking up close. It was unfair Miles got to be hot in all the genders. He could barely manage the one. “So is this like. A hobby?”
“No not. I enjoy dresses and skirts in a gender defying way not. As crossdressing.” They stared down at their manicured fingers. “The extent of this presentation is…”
He waited for Miles to continue. Pressed when they didn’t. “Is?”
Miles raised their chin. “Someone in my position can’t be seen wearing these sorts of things. I don’t appreciate the attention I receive from merely being openly gay. Much less gender non-conforming.”
“Yeah no I totally get that- I mean you’re a private guy- person? – to begin with. Totally fine!”
There was a weak smile. They tugged on their sleeve. “There is another benefit…”
“Oh yeah?”
“I’m not a high ranked prosecutor like this. There are no eyes watching me.” Yeah I don’t think that’s true in the slightest. “No tabloids itching to catch the demon prosecutor doing something distasteful or vengeful people hoping for a moment to come yell at me. I’m not ‘Prosecutor Edgeworth’ so… I can relax.”
“Oh.” He blinked. Squished his face further into the crook of his arm. “Guess that makes sense.” They stared out at the park. Watching Maya pretend to throw the ball for Pess. Shoulders loose and relaxed. Screw it. “Miles.” He tacked on just half a second too late.
The shoulders pulled up and that red tint returned. Red really was their color. “W-What are you?”
“You’re not Prosecutor Edgeworth right now right? So you’re Miles. Isn’t that right?”
The blush climbed their cheeks up to their ears. “No, you’re Wright.”
“Not right now I’m not. Right now I’m Phoenix.” He stared up through the lashes of his eyes at his childhood best friend. All red and silver starlight. “And I’m sitting on the bench with the prettiest person I’ve ever seen.”
Holy shit! That was almost smooth! That’ll never happen again! It’s so good were sitting down or else I’d have tripped on my shoes and face planted as universal karma for that!
Miles twisted away. Hand coming up to cover their face. He could still see their ears burning red.
“Me too.” Miles mumbled.
“Huh?” He lifted his head slightly. Cocked it.
“The bench. That’s true for me too.”
“Uh. Wha?” The bench?
I’m sitting on the bench with the prettiest person I’ve ever seen.
He fell to the ground. All the blood collecting in his face. “Wha- You- You can’t just!”
Miles turned. A teasing smirk pulling at his face. “Oh haven’t you heard Phoenix?” Fuck. “Turnabout’s fair play.”
Bastard. He grinned. Bastard.
Turnabouts fair play.
