Sure was a year...This is just me taking the end of year opportunity to post the various DC comics doodles that have been gathering dust in my files! too many of you guys think nico is the loser and not lewis for letting the divorce go on for so long. like they're both losers about each other. emotionally constipated idiots who can't talk about their toxic homoerotic friendship that imploded on itself like 8 years ago and are now making it everyone else's problem. yeah nico's on television or in beer gardens talking about lewis all the time but like every other month some reporter is like "lewis, what's your favorite moment in your career?" and lewis no hesitation is like "oh man, karting, y'know? everything was simpler then" and then spends another six months skirting around nico's name. like this whole thing they're doing in the media isn't some kinda extended foreplay for them. they're both still pressing on the bruise to make sure it's still there!!! every few months, they're literally just asking on public television, does it still hurt for you like it does for me? and like clockwork, someone will release new information about them or one of them will say something about each other (in my heart, he's still my best friend/yes... and teammate) and the answer will remain the same, yes, of course, always.

[He hits his desk, then starts counting off people on his fingers] Fit is gone, Richarlyson is gone, Ramon is gone, Bagi and Empanada who were always there when we were there are also gone, I haven't seen them! It's just me and Tubbo, and sometimes Philza shows up.

Pac: I lost Chume Labs, I lost the Favela, I lost Murder Mystery, I lost Ilha Chume Labs, it's crazy! Look at how much I've lost, and I've gained nothing! Of course I'm going to be depressed, are you crazy?! How am I supposed to be happy?!

it occurs to me that jamie's conversation with ted at the pub in 2x02 might be the first time he talks about his dad with someone who already knows that james is abusive (with the possible exception of georgie). which means that the first time he hears an outside perspective on the situation, it's ted telling him that his dad's abuse is what made him great

I’m making a webcomic adaptation of The Hobbit! It’s an epic cool passion project that incorporates as much of Tolkien’s prose as possible while also being my own take on the story, it features a variety of different art styles to represent the worlds of different characters in Middle Earth, it’s over 100 pages long already, the art/writing keeps gradually improving over time, and you should follow it! This keeps all the chapters neatly organized in one place, and also sends you an email notification whenever it updates, which is helpful because I don't update weekly :). I currently update monthly, on the thirteenth day of every month.

i think it says a lot that this is my third time studying Van Gogh's art in a school/academic setting, but this is the first time that the message has been "Van Gogh created art despite his mental illness, not because of it". I vividly remember being on a school trip and looking at Van Gogh's Self-Portrait with Bandaged Ear, and our teacher telling us at length about the "vivid" and "disorganised" way he used colour, and how this was reflective of Van Gogh's mental state. I guess because that's the fun, exciting way to make middle schoolers interested in some 19th century artist's work ("he cut off his own ear! Gross!"), but... it's so reductive. It completely ignores who he was as a person – or at least, the person he presents through his letters and art – and flattens what he was doing with his work.

Did you know he actually didn't paint when he was at his most severely mentally unwell? I didn't! Did you know he was a voluntary patient? I didn't either! Did you know he was deliberately painting in a style (and choosing subjects) that was/were transgressive and went against the established grain of academic art in the 19th century? Because let me tell you, learning that completely upended everything I'd internalised over the years about Van Gogh being this epitome of the ~troubled artist~. It's both deeply fascinating to learn about and a depressing reminder of the made-for-consumption-but-not-acceptance conception of mental illness that pervades popular culture & society.
