trying to get back to normal was difficult after the night that she had, they wanted nothing more than to take the next week off to try and find their family, to find oliver and make everything right again. but that wasn’t reality. even if they weren’t going to be open all day, they needed to just check on the office, make sure everything was still in tact. they heard the chime over the door, and before they could make some comment to buy themselves more time, she looked up, seeing the familiar face of her father, heart tightening in their chest. and then he spoke, childhood nickname leaving his lips, and pj nearly dropped everything in her hands. “dad--?” she paused, a cautious step forward, tears welling in their eyes before they broke out into a run, closing the distance between them easily, arms thrown around him as she pulled herself against him.

piper’s day was mostly busy as she had been working for the majority of it. everything was going well and fine until the customer’s started going crazy. “what is wrong with them!” piper panicked after having to break up several fights on the floor. her hands on her face as she sighed. if things kept going this way she’d have to close for the day.

While I'm sure bad guys in Gotham have learned over time that the Bats don't kill, that even after bashing your teeth in they'll flag down an ambulance or dump you unceremoniously at the ER, it's still a shaky trust.

One that is easily shaken seeing a child wielding a sword in the dead of night; nobody wants to learn how that is handled nonlethally. Or bad guys just surrendering one late night after running into an alley and Nightwing's standing over their unconscious buddy, holding the gun he wrestled away. They watch Red Hood break into the place they're robbing with a crowbar in hand and just decide they'd rather not chance it. They see a shadow that could be Black Bat and-- you get it.

I think one of the more unfortunate consequences to creators being more interactive with fans is that a lot of fans/fandoms normalized this idea that creators have to explain/validate every headcanon they have.

If there's anything I've felt about ace attorney since playing through the original trilogy, it's how cheated I've felt about the fandom interpretation of it. Y'all were so caught up with your gay boys and your Miles Edgeworths I didn't realize how much of this game was about WOMEN. THE CORE OF ACE ATTORNEY IS IN ITS FEMALE CHARACTERS. From Mia jumpstarting Phoenix and guiding him throughout the whole trilogy even after her death, her presence being the primary connecter of Phoenix and Maya, Maya and Godot, heck even Dahlia and Iris and the whole lot of them. From Franziska's earnest faith and consolation of Miles Edgeworth, even begrudgingly, pulling him out the trauma of his childhood with the face to face confrontation of a bullet wound in the same spot as the man who killed his father. Lana and Ema dragging Phoenix back into the thing he does best. Lana and Ema who's tragic story lies in a pair of sisters ruined by the heinous law system and their unconditional love for each other. Dahlia and Iris with a different version of sisterly tragedy, struggling through generational trauma in separate settings and support systems. The matter of the Fey tradition looming over the entire narrative and all the legal and social terror that comes with it. CAN WE TALK ABOUT THE ACE ATTORNEY WOMEN.
