who are your fav ‘influencers’/ people you watch on yt TikTok etc 🫶
okay i love how u put influencers in quotes bc i don’t view content as like an influence thing for me, i’ve learned that i kinda prefer other types of content idk you’ll see what i mean
on a similar note, i had to look through my following and subscription lists on yt and tiktok bc i could not think of one single person off the top of my head LOL but i’ll list out people whose content i enjoy when it pops up on my fyp or yt home page.
Danny (Bionic on yt): #1 obviii my man my man my man. BUT i will say sometimes i be bingeing his videos bc they are so unironically entertaining like if you’re into modded minecraft and don’t mind the target audience being younger kids then watch his videos i promise it’s not just bc i love him LMAO
@/hopeyoufindyourdad (Andra) on tiktok: i think she is so smart and i love all her takes on drama and all kinds of situations idk whenever she pops up on my feed i just know i’m going to agree with her on whatever she’s talking about
@/glownarrative (hannah campbell) on tiktok: BIG fan of her makeup reviews, i think she could classify as an “influencer” bc she does review makeup and stuff, at least that’s what i know her for. but, i just think she’s pretty straightforward and when i’m looking for new products i do go to her page just to see her take on how the products wear and apply just 10/10 good reviews
@/alloramomo on tiktok: idek how to describe the videos but it’s like short films but it’s kind of conversations between two people and they always leave me staring at my screen reflecting on what i just watched idk just. good.
@/carolinelusk on tiktok: Similar vein to Andra not just bc she’s a blonde with good opinions but also seems really smart and funny idk i just get good vibes from her
@/fathermareyuh on tiktok: SO FUCKING FUNNY. they make rlly good anime tiktoks idek how to describe the content but they’re just so fucking funny. if u like jjk, my hero, or anime in general u probably alr know but yeah big fan
@/avascreams and @/chloeforrero on tiktok: pretty, funny girls w deep voices, long yap sessions, good opinions, and who talk at the perfect speed.
@/cameronjerrard (Cameron) on tiktok: HILARIOUS. i see that blue bonnet, i’m SAT bc i know i’m about to giggle and hear some good takes on whatever he’s talking about
ik i already put danny on the top and he’s a youtuber but now i’m going w the list of youtubers. i know it would’ve made more sense to just put all the youtube people together but this is the way my brain went and i’m too lazy to go back and redo it so
Madisyn Brown: really good video essays, i’ll literally sit and watch every single one, i think she’s so smart. also she can SING.
Jordan Theresa: video essay girly!! so smart and funny, i love the way she edits her videos idk i just like her content a lot
Salem Tovar: completing my holy trinity of video essay/commentary girlies. funny, smart… need i say more
Mai Pham: the only actual influencer on this list, i love her vlogs and i think she’s so funny, relatable and down to earth idk i just think she’s so cool
D’Angelo Wallace: do i even need to say anything?
Kurzgesagt: one of my hs friends introduced me to this channel and i never looked back. always look forward to the existential crisis following an upload from them

When I say anything don’t assume I mean it in a normal way, I’m not normal, I don’t perceive the world in typical ways, everyone is always misunderstanding me because they assume I’m stupid, for example I don’t like edgy tiktok edits of clown gendered joker girl because I’m the target audience for that stuff, I may like one because the lyrics of the music imply psychopathic traits in the character, and I won’t care for the music, or even the way it was edited, while most ppl might think it’s cool I am busy getting excited about other things hidden in different layers of the thing, I’m just not connected to things in the way other people are, I don’t enjoy things the way most people do, I’m not trying to say I am a freak and special, just that I am tired of being misunderstood thru being deemed normal, if you use that sort of standard for me then u will always misunderstand me and get angry at things I’m not even doing.

anj ur fics are so fun and well-crafted i am a huge secret admirer of them who has been following u for a yr (and i respect the dilf prof anthony agenda frfr it's always the english depts too getting called daddy thank u for this homage) but omfg as someone in the humanities phd track, i cannot help but ask why kate is so young for a prof???? esp since almost all humanities profs start a fulltime teaching position at 28-30 yrs old minimum... i had a hard time imagining how 25 yr old would allowed to teach as a professor full-time by effect of her 'merit' unless it's some exploitative semi-illegal gag clause contingency hidden in her contract that renders her basically a 'pre-'grad student but w/o even their flimsy benefits n protections which actually usually is the case... 😭😭 knowing the dysfunctional politics embedded in uk and north american tenure systems, i unfortunately couldnt get past it! but looking forward to ur milf kate writing, hope u dont find this question too nosy or offensive lol (i enjoyed the fic for what it is hehe) i realize traumatized phds r probs not the target audience of this fic nor entitled to an explanation for why ur not reading and incorporating paywalled exposes of uni working conditions into a fic but was still curious if u were just taking reference from a different context or more ethical precedent of academic labor (which may ease my conscious reading it haha). tysm!
First of all—thank you! I appreciate you reading and being a secret admirer (tho I promise I don’t bite, ur always welcome to say hey!). I appreciate it 💘
Second of all—lmfao I was wondering when I’d get this ask or comment 😭😭😭😭😭 I just knew there’d be some poor phd student or some professor reading this fic who’d be like “hang on… what’s that?” and the answer I’ve got for you is let’s have a healthy dose of suspension of complete disbelief because it was the only way I could make this work 🤓
I wanted it to be an age gap because I wanted to write an age gap but I didn’t want there to be too horrible of a power imbalance that would definitely come with it being a student/professor relationship. That was just too far for me to personally go, even though with the ages I have them at, it would be the most realistic thing. Idk making them student/professor made me feel icky. I suppose I could’ve made her work some admin job within the university but I really liked the idea of them both teaching, and I originally planned on having him sort of rediscover his own love of teaching thanks to her enthusiasm. For some background (this didn’t make it into the fic, but I did hint at it); Anthony specializes in teaching a lot of western lit canon/comp lit things and Kates specializes in post-colonial lit/Asian American lit, and I liked the idea of her challenging his perspectives and changing up some of the ways he approaches his work and the things he assigns, and that all helping him rediscover his love of teaching as well. There’s a repeated theme in this oneshot of rebirth; how love can find us at unexpected times and make the world feel brand new again. I kinda heavy-handedly drove the theme home when he says I love you and I write that it washes over Kate like rainwater in spring—a sort of nod to baptism/rebirth imagery, a nod to rain being necessary for renewal even though she’s afraid of storms but the storm scene is a huge turning point for them, and rain and springtime and rebirth etc lol. ANYWAYS—all this to say, I really do try and make things as realistic as possible, because that matters to me and I like world building and tbh I do get paranoid that someone might read my fic and go “oh well that’s wrong, a mechanic would never say that” or something lol, but it is fanfiction land and I do have to make some concessions to make the story work in the way I want it to work, and I sort of ended up here lol! Trust me, though, I totally hear you; I was an English major myself (if you couldn’t tell) with a concentration in post-colonial lit and a minor in poli-sci and for a while I thought I’d get my masters or a PhD in the humanities and then teach, before a professor discouraged me from it bc ya know this is the US and that usually means a lot of debt and no teaching positions lol. But all that to say—I totally hear you! It’s not realistic and it’s icky if you work/study in it and know exactly what the dark and ugly side of academia looks like! But most folks probably didn’t catch that bc no one really knows what it’s like until you’re in it tbh. I tried to sort of make it work by having her have these two masters degrees (again, insane) and be some sort of wunderkind and exciting new voice in the post-colonial lit field that Agatha just had to bring on lmao. Basically it’s not perfect and it doesn’t totally work irl, but it’s not too big of a plot point besides getting them in the same place, and it’s not a huge focus, just in the background as they’re grading things or walking around campus, and I hope it doesn’t totally impede your ability to read it, but I totally understand if it does 😭

I'm the wrong target audience for this. It's all sex-focused, and it feels magical in a way that just doesn't work for me. If you like a woman being overwhelmingly compelled, in a magic- feeling way, to perform sex acts on another woman, though, you might like this one? But I'll give it a pass.

We all realize that Paul is acting completely unethically here, right?Cool. Now that that's out of the way, this is hot AF. Seeing how she's affected by his suggestions, how there's a level on which she DOES clearly want that... well. I *enjoy* that sense of futile resistance quite a lot actually, though maybe not quite the way he goes about it here. But trying to resist, even as a partner piles on more and more suggestions that make me give in is one of my favourite things. It's literally *why* I brat - and everything I love about it so much is captured in how it feels to Charlotte here. Just... ETHICS, Paul. Get her to consent to all of this free from trance first. Is that too much to ask? 9/10 spirals.

Heh, I can't help but shake the feeling that Louise may have been dealing with some internal homophobia at some point. The way she takes to this, the language she uses ... it just gives me a general vibe of someone who needs *permission* to want what - who! - she wants. And seeing her reinforcing the programming by telling Rhonda about it is really good. This would be sweet if it weren't so obvious that Rhonda doesn't necessarily have Louise's best interests at heart. 8/10 spirals

Gosh, I do hope *someone* thought to go outside and turn Nancy's car off. She sure doesn't seem likely to any time soon. I don't *do* visual memory, not really, but the first couple paragraphs of this story are so well described it pulled up a visual memory for me of being caught up in a partner's gem, hanging from a chain, enough so that I was jolted out of the story some when the gem in the story was described as being red. My mind was focused on purple. But it's a well done induction, the use of sexual pleasure is just used to reinforce the hypnosis/control, and in general it's a really good story! 9/10 spirals, because darn it I wanted the gemstone to be purple.

An induction using water imagery, and the images of things being submerged? Not for me, in any way, shape, or form. Nope. Y'all may enjoy it though, I suppose, though skimming the end it definitely looks like it has arousal/orgasm suggestions, possibly other suggestions? I noped out too hard to be sure.

*giggle* oh, this is ADORABLE. Poor Debbie, caught between conflicting commands and with no win condition (or is that no lose condition?). It's a charming, sweet story that I can *absolutely* see happening between some of the folk in our community, and I adore just how real it feels. Seeing a happy hypnotee - hypnoslave, honestly - so aware and so clearly *enjoying* everything going on makes my heart sing. 10/10 spirals.

Heh, somehow I don't think that's what most hypnosis files that are designed to help the listener drift off to sleep are designed like. But hey, Sandy sure doesn't seem to have minded. I do wish we got more hints at just what was included in the rest of the file, as it sounded like it was going into *really* fun places. I wonder just how much Sandy may find herself up for over an email exchange with the lady of the gorgeous voice... 8/10 spirals

There are a number of reasons that reading this should feel awkward. It *shoud* hit the same sort of "I feel slightly voyeuristic reading this" space that some of Jukebox's other stories (such as Voices Carry), and it's much more sex-focused than I usually like. And yet. Somehow the clear, pure connection between these two, the love that is so clearly there, makes all of that so much less awkward than I would expect it to be. Things like the moment of Michael, as deeply entranced as he is, caring so much for Lynn and her health that he checks in to be sure she's feeling better enough for what happens, or the way that the moment almost pulls out an "evil" laugh from Lynn - I *know* the sorts of emotions that can drag that sort of laugh out of a hypnotist, having that kind of chuckle myself, and it just is such a relateable moment. I do appreciate Michael asking what it is said about things done on Solstice Night, though, because much like Michael I'm a lapsed Catholic who wouldn't have known. 10/10 spirals (and idly wondering if Jukebox was thinking of the Christmas Carol or the 3 Dog Night song with this title)

Oooof, poor Abby. (Addy? Her name changes when she puts on the dress) Parents can make weddings stressful AF, even when they're trying to be more helpful than stressful. And I'm not so far removed from my own wedding that I've forgotten the stress of planning it, so I can see why Abby would lean into that chance to relax, especially given over a year of Geneva hypnotizing her to help her relax and building that trust. I have some questions about how the torn seam in the dress works, because how is the ripped seam kept hidden during the ceremony, though? and was the edge finished enough that it won't unravel during cleaning and preservation? Because Abby *definitely* seems the type to do that. Regardless of the silly "Daja, learn to suspend your disbelief already" things, though, it's a good story. Betrayal is never going to be something I like, and this does hit me as a betrayal, which makes me personally enjoy it less, but that's just personal taste. 7/10 spirals

... I am having SO MUCH TROUBLE with this, because Tori reminds me so strongly of Jean "Kill me so I don't become the Phoenix Force again" Grey, and she would NEVER. Look, Claremont X-men was formative for me, ok? I don't get her reaction to this; me? I'd be so busy trying to put up walls or isolate from the complete OVERWHELM, so I just can't understand why Tori reacts the way she does. But ah well, people get to be different, but it does mean between that, the very magic nature of what happens, and the focus on sex and sharing folks secrets? It's not a story I like very much. 4/10 spirals.

Hi i forgot to put the 🐙 emoji in my last anon LOL but it’s 🐙!!! (Not sure if u do emoji anons on this acct :p) my favourite classics are honestly ANYTHING by kafka. I am a kafka girl. I love kafka. And then jane austen!! Pride and prejudice 💋💋mr. darcy is the only man ever actually i love when they’re QUIET (emphasis)
I’m pretty open to honestly most classic literature, i’ve been wanting to get some recommendations that aren’t the same authors. Sylvia plath unfortunately doesn’t really do it for me because I’m probably not her target audience but some of her poems/proses are good! I’m currently reading dracula/frankenstein (at the same time lol) and have been loving it so far. The only con about frankenstein is that i bought a tinier version so the words are huddled together and although my ass CAN read it i’d rather the words to be spaced out :-( not sure if it’s a me thing… i’ll just finish the book and see if i would get another version of frankenstein hehe
i also have a little life on hand rn, that is the book I’m especially putting on hold because from what i’ve seen people were Not okay when reading it. Idk about me tho personally i’m not an outwardly emotional person but i’m not heartless so i’ll read it when i can…
I have SOOO many books on my TBR list but i’ve been putting them on hold because i still have a number of books at home that i need to finish…! I wish i could show u a photo because it’s on my notes app lol. This might be a very unpopular opinion but i enjoyed reading murakami’s killing commendatore even though his descriptions of women r nasty. I read his books in a more factual (?) way? If that makes sense. If you have any book/author recommendations do tell me!! Especially female authors 🐙🤍
hi my love 💛 i’m so sorry for the late response :(
omg kafka!! 🥺 i haven’t read any of his works in full yet but i’ve read snippets on pinterest and they’re so so beautiful :( i love the way he writes. do you have any favourite works of his? :O oooh yes pride & prejudice!! the most classic of the classics i feel like lol. YES EXACTLY LOL, men when they’re quiet and don’t talk > 😌
i haven’t read any sylvia plath and tbh i’m not sure if i’d ever pick any of her works up because i’ve lots of bad things about them :( i’m glad you’re enjoying those books though!! :D frankenstein is really great!! >< i think they’re making a live action of it (?) which i’m super excited for !! and ik this isn’t dracula lol but i’m soooooo losing my mind over the new nosferatu movie coming out rahhhh!! it looks amazing :P I TOTALLY GET YOU!! the frankenstein i read in hs was similar and it was seriously a pain to get thru 😭 like why are the letters and words so close together 💔
oh god yeah a little life … ive heard it’s so heartbreaking :( i dont think i’ll be reading it anytime soon lol life is sad enough!! 😞 but people say it’s v well written ! good luck if you ever do get around to reading it 😭💗
ME TOO HELP ☹️ i love buying books but then my tbr just grows and grows and then i don’t even wanna read anymore rip. i definitely know what you mean dw! >< i think something a lot of people tend to forget is that we can (and are supposed to) be critical of authors works, esp those from back in the day! i think the problem is when it’s marketed as something it’s not & people say a work is flawless and perfect when it’s like…not, and even hurts groups of people, etc etc. idk if that makes sense lol but yeah! 😭
hmmm off the top of my head, since you like classics i’m thinking of virginia woolf, toni morrison, and maya angelou! for woolf, i read mrs dalloway (which i LOVED) and a room of ones own for a school assignment. i def recommend those! and for morrison, i read song of solomon which i also really, really loved. beloved by her is also on my list! for maya angelou id definitely recommend and still i rise and letter to my daughter <3 her poems are beautiful too!
i mostly read fiction / fantasy at the moment 😭 if you’re interested in those genres i can give you recs as well ><

Will Grayson, Will Grayson Book Review
Tumblr media
Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green and David Levithan Book Review
Summary:
Two boys, both named Will Grayson, lead entirely separate yet fairly similar lives. Despite not knowing each other and having different sexualities, the Will’s find themselves struggling with similar problems. Trouble connecting with others has made their lives miserable. When bad situations cause them to meet by chance, could it be the catalyst to personal growth?
SPOILERS AHEAD
The Good:
This novel was 100% targeted towards too-edgy-4-u 2010s teen boys. In that sense I am entirely not the target audience for this. I can see how this could maybe have a good influence on boys like that, in a similar sense to Catcher in the Rye. The novel starts with two boys who hate everyone and judge everything, but who also learn to grow and take chances with expressing feelings and finally appreciate the people in their lives. It had a very rough start, but by the end I did feel like the characters were changing for the better.
I really enjoy when I pick up a book without knowing the plot, and it turns out to be a queer story. As someone who loved John Green as a teen, this was one of the few books of his that I had not read, and I randomly came across it in a used bookstore. I really enjoyed the romance portion of it. Even these characters that are so hateful find fulfillment in those they love. Honestly it may have been the only reason I didn’t give up on this book.
I also appreciated Tiny’s character. While he wasn’t perfect, I thought the depth they gave him towards the end and the reason for his upbeat personality made him a very likeable character. Of course he wasn’t always the greatest friend, which I think we’ll learn nobody really is, but his hard work made him very endearing in my opinion.
The parents were also far more involved than usual in books like this, which was a nice change of pace. They step in, they’re there for the characters when they’re needed, and they do seem to try throughout the story. It’s not often we see good parents in books about such bad kids, because usually the authors think that’s the only reason the kids could be acting out, but this time it felt right.
The Bad:
I’m not sure where to begin to be honest. The fatphobia was rampant throughout this book. While it gets acknowledged a little, the casual fatphobic comments and jokes by the narrators that don’t stop by the end were just painful. It wasn’t used for any real character growth, it was just a reflection of how people thought when this book was written. I’m sure if the authors were to rewrite it today, they’d be horrified at just how many comments they made, but since they haven’t we can only see what they thought at the time. Even when Tiny (the nickname itself being bad enough) acknowledges his weight, it still feels as though the authors are blaming him for the way he is treated throughout the book. It’s sad and very disappointing.
Speaking of reflecting 2010 mindsets…..the text slang. It did not age well. I really wish authors would just stop trying to imitate it because it never feels right. David Levithan also purposefully wrote his Will Grayson’s chapters in the style of texts, which to him means no capitalizations at all. Not character names, not place names, not the beginning of sentences, not even the word “I”. I could appreciate that the only capitalization is used for his big gesture at the end of the novel, but there had to be a better way to separate the two narrators. Even different fonts would have been better. Also please, why mention jerking off so much? It wasn’t even necessary to the plot (I guess it adds to my claim for the target audience but….still).
There was also a lot of casual homophobia that does not translate well to modern day. While it isn’t really from the narrators, there are a lot of characters that say shit and just get away with it. The treatment of Tiny isn’t much better. He is written as an entirely gay stereotype. Flamboyant, loud, promiscuous (at least in terms of how easily he falls in love), and the most major theater kid ever. If it weren’t for how the authors treated everything else I might’ve assumed better intentions, but they did him wrong. In so many ways.
The female characters were also so one-dimensional. It’s a common complaint with John Green’s books to be honest. There were only two girls that the main characters regularly interacted with, and one of them was obsessed with Will and did a really shitty thing, and the other one just existed as a smart romantic interest who falls for the wrong guy first. They were very tropey. I did like Jane but the ex-boyfriend detail made me want to scream. It felt like the authors just needed to make the book longer so they added another unnecessary conflict.
Obligatory men don’t know shit about women quote: “you do realize, don’t you, that when a guy and girl get together, he puts his thing where she urinates and gets her period?” pg 175 (not the same hole buddy)
I’m…torn over how they deal with mental health here. One of the Will Graysons has depression, and Levithan purposefully made it so that it wasn’t just a beginner story, but showed how it is after years of having it. But it feels so hopeless. He takes the meds but doesn’t actually feel better and doesn’t seem to be doing any of the suggestions for dealing with mental health. It felt more like they were showing that meds are useless and you’re never going to feel better. Plus the comments about self harm just take away from the goal even further! The way he talks about his “friend” self-harming just because she needs material for her poetry, it’s disgusting. It’s like “oh goth women can’t be depressed, clearly they’re doing it for the attention while I, a sad white boy, have real issues.” He admits to being bad to her later but, just like the fatphobic comments, does not seem to actually reflect on how shitty he was.
Overall:
I am glad I don’t tend to DNF books, because this one was possibly the worst beginning I’ve seen in a while but I did enjoy the end more. I even cried a bit at the last scene, just because I’m a sucker for unexpected big gestures. That being said, I wouldn’t recommend this for anyone except shitty teenage boys who probably think books are lame. I also probably won’t be rereading it. It handled serious topics very poorly and, while it was an easy read, it wasn’t particularly a good one. I’m not sure I would trust anyone who reads it this day and age and gives it five stars, but because I enjoyed it in the end I will give it
2 Stars

hello. if you do nsfw content of chaipunk, punkflower, chai flower or any ship including miles, pav, hobie or gwen you are WEIRD, NASTY, PEDO SCUM.
they are MINORS, and i don’t care what anybody says about hobie, he is a teenager.
it’s such a shame that a server based on 3 teenage characters needed to have a nsfw channel. it is gross and weird,
and to all you 18/19 year olds out there who age them up or say nsfw shit about them- YOU ARE THE PROBLEM.
poor you, u exceed the age requirements n e ways go talk nasty about miguel.
-on a personal note, especially for miles and hobie, they are characters that i relate to so deeply and genuinely see myself in because they were written to represent ME. the fact that people need to make nsfw content about them is APPALLING, movies and characters can be enjoyed without nsfw content. it’s horrible how quickly these characters can be ruined, and how badly you guys ruined them for their target audience. it’s disgusting and sad.
miles, hobie, pav, and gwen ( AND margo kess AND prowler miles AND peni!!!!!!!!!!!!) ARE ALL TEENAGERS. MINORS. UNDER THE AGE OF 18. CHILDREN.
:((((( the fact that this needs to be said aboht atsv of all movies is so annoying
i’m so disappointed in people and i have zero faith in ANYBODY.
please stop ruining characters that were made for people who’s inner child lacked representation :((((
if u read this, ur a real one fr ☹️🤝

Narrative Film Analysis Of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
The purpose of films that build up an overarching plot is to help media consumers get to know the characters shown in the film. This is done by making the characters have their own stories that involve them overcoming their weaknesses and developing their personality through their experiences. As a result, the audience will be familiar with the characters by the time the climax of the overarching storyline arrives on the big screen. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, a film released in May 2017 directed by James Gunn, is a great example of this, as while the overall plot of the film is revolved around Peter Quill reuniting with his long-lost father, it often strays from that narrative and focuses more on developing the major characters in the film to prepare them for the events that take place in future films. Thanks to this, this film focuses on many characters at once, rather than focusing on Quill alone.
James Gunn elected to have the main plot of the film focus on Peter Quill’s reunion and relationship with his biological father “Ego,” who had left him when his mother died when Quill was a child. This is not only used to give the film a primary storyline to follow, but it is also used to set up Ego as the main antagonist of the film and provide contrast to the behaviors of Quill’s adoptive father, Yondu. According to Gunn’s script, Ego was shown to be caring towards Quill at first, but later proved that he conceived Quill so he can have enough power to enact his planet terraforming plan, whereas Yondu was harsh to Quill as a child, but later grew to become a better fatherly figure at the climax of the film, sacrificing himself for Quill in the process (Gunn 2017). This shows the contrast between both fathers of Quill and helps Quill realize that Yondu was his real father all along, and helps him value the importance of his own team at the end of the film. While Gunn focuses on Quill’s family heritage throughout the story, he also has a secondary plot point focusing on the relationship between Quill’s crush, Gamora, and her sister, Nebula. According to Gunn’s script, the two sisters despise each other at the start of the film, but then later come to understand each other’s reasons for hating each other and help each other out in the final battle against Ego (Gunn 2017).

In film-related media, if the target audience learns about and enjoys the characters in a film, then they’re more likely to care about them in future films those characters appear in. This happens all the time in media production, as a main contributing factor of what can make a movie enjoyable to watch are how well written the characters are and how well their actors play them. Gunn’s plan for the movie was to focus on multiple characters at once rather than focus solely on Quill, which was a decision made in order to prepare the characters for future films. Gunn also had to make the script communicate and convey information to viewers that would tie in with future films, an example of this is explaining why Gamora and Nebula have such a negative relationship with each other as siblings. According to an interview with James Gunn conducted by Kyle Buchanan, he admitted that he had Nebula appear as evil in the first film, then chose to expand on why she acts the way she does in the second film, which would result in Nebula being seen as more of a victim than an evil individual (Buchanan 2017). The narrative also shows just how much the two disliked each other by including a short fight sequence where Nebula tries to shoot down Gamora with a spaceship and Gamora tries to defend herself on the ground, ending when Gamora is pinned to the ground by Nebula inside a cave after trying to help her get out of the burning wreckage of her ship.In Buchanan’s interview, Gunn explains that the sequence is powerful because the emotions from the characters during this fight are primal and can be difficult to watch since they both truly don’t want to fight each other, but end up doing so because Gamora turned a blind eye to Nebula’s suffering in their childhoods (Buchanan 2017). These decisions in the script and character writing result in the audience understanding Nebula’s motivations, as well as coming to sympathize with her and being more relatable to them. Finally, consumers have a very positive reception of Gamora and Nebula by the end of the film due to Gunn having expanded on the two as a way to provide more representation to female characters having a more prominent role in the story. That doesn’t happen very often since male characters tend to dominate the market as protagonists in movies, video games, and other forms of media, which is a factor that led to #gamergate in the video game industry specifically. (Conley 2022)

Films that are built to be a part of an overarching plot in the series’ universe serve the purpose of getting the audience accustomed to the characters before the main event of the storyline is displayed on the big screen. This is often done by creating a story that the characters follow and often has them solve conflicts within themselves to grow as characters. Media producers will often focus on one person to focus on in a story and relegate other characters to the side, but there are exceptions to this. James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 stands out due to focusing on multiple characters at once, choosing to focus on Peter Quill’s fatherly figures and their differences between each other in his life as the movie’s main plot. However, the script also takes into account the relationship between Gamora and Nebula, two sisters that have grown to despise each other as they were growing up, and how they were able to reconcile and tolerate each other better. The reason this is significant is because not only are they major characters in future films they appear in, their character growth and motivations make them relatable to the audience, and people sympathize with them as a result.

To whoever is reading, please enjoy. Forgive my thirst from thirsty Thursday. 😜
------------------------------------------------------
🏵 ALBEDO 🏵
> You lay nervously on the sleeping bag near the camp fire while Albedo crawls on top of you.
> If you thought Albedo is dashing, then his perfect naked body illuminated by the hues of flame looks divine.
> Albedo hovers over you and uses one arm to support his weight. He cups your face with one hand and gives you an assuring smile.
> “U – uhm… Have you done this before, teacher…?”
> “I haven’t. And that is precisely why I wanted to conduct this experiment with you. Because I believe we are both comfortable doing it with each other.”
> You blush at the thought that Albedo wanted to have intercourse with you.
> Albedo gives your lips a peck to ask for entrance. You permit him and you both kiss passionately.
> After a long breathtaking smooch, he slowly goes down to your jaw, to your neck, to your collarbones, then to your breasts.
> He moulds one of your breasts while sucking the other, alternating so the other lump would not feel lonely.
> He goes lower until he reaches your sopping warmth. The place where Albedo is made you feel conscious.
> “There’s no need to be embarrassed. We are alchemists, after all. I will have to ask you to do the same later.”
> It means you will have to suck him later.
> Gently, Albedo parts your legs wider and examines your delicate flower.
> He dips his tongue, tasting the sweet honey you produced for him.
> He experiments on your entrance, testing whether it is best to use his fingers or his tongue or both.
> Either way, it had you arching your back and moaning his name.
> His thumb makes small circles on your clit, sending jolts of pleasure into your body.
> Something inside you will erupt soon. You feel it.
> With a few strokes on your clit and plunges inside your hole, Albedo makes you cum on his face.
> He peeks at you and you swear, behind that wet stained face, you can see his lips curved into a smirk.
> His tongue licks you clean, making sure slurp all your sweet juices.
> He says he has not done this before but why is he so skilled at it??
------------------------------------------------------
🐳 CHILDE 🐳
> “Stop! Stop! Childe, no more – aah!”
> Your eyes roll back and mouth gawk open as another orgasm hits you hard.
> Even if you cry, Childe keeps abusing your overflowing little hole.
> “Haha ~ do you really want me to stop? Why don’t you let go of me then?”
> True. Your legs are wrapped around his waist which prevents him from pulling away…not that he would anyway.
> You already lost count how many times Childe made you cum. All you know is after the pain of overstimulation comes the pleasure of another orgasm.
> “Your hole is just too perfect for me, [your name]. This little cunt is mine. Ah ~ I swear if someone else touches you I will kill them. You’re mine, you got that?”
> His eyes, full of lust, watches your contorting face carefully and observes which spots make you weak.
> Childe just can’t get enough of you! With a greedy sloppy kiss, he muffles your cries mixed with pain and pleasure.
> He bites your lips with the purpose of making it bleed. He succeeds and licks your blood.
> The taste of your blood gets him even more riled up. His already fast and hard thrusts became rougher.
> It is literally damn hot where you two are but the way he dominates you during sex is way hotter.
> Your walls clench him tighter and he moans your name erotically.
> Your mush brain unconsciously call Childe master as you writhe in pleasure.
> He ejaculates inside of you at the sweet sound of being called master.
> You respond by cumming, filling yourself to the brim.
> He doesn’t unplug himself. Instead, he makes sure to keep your cums inside of you.
> Your legs are sore as fuck and Childe just chuckles at you.
> As Childe said, you will be limping for a week.
------------------------------------------------------
🦅 DILUC 🦅
> With eyes like a hungry wolf’s – that is what Diluc looks like right now.
> But he doesn’t act like one. No. He is a gentleman, after all, and he does not have the heart to hurt you.
> Diluc hovers on top of you, slowly pushing his hard erection in your entrance.
> You can’t help but bite your lips at the delicious yet stinging stretch.
> You already feel full but he has not even fully sheathed himself.
> Once you’ve adjusted, Diluc begins to roll his hips. His thrusts are slow yet forceful; sweet yet steamy.
> He doesn’t have to try to find your pleasure spot. His size alone is enough to effortlessly hit that spongy area.
> You gasp and moan, mouth gawking at the sensual feeling.
> As he continues pleasuring you down there, he grabs the opportunity to steal your breath away. He leans in and kisses you as you continue to mewl his name.
> He gains speed in his thrusts and you began to chant his name.
> Your orgasm is building fast but Diluc’s is way behind.
> Almost there. You grab his shoulders and pull himself close to you. And then it hits you. You writhe and cry while feeling the pleasure surge in your body.
> Diluc is glad he could make you cum. He slows down to a stop so you could recover from your high, not wanting to overstimulate you.
> You pant and smile. Orgasm from Diluc feels so good compared to doing it to yourself.
> He pecks your lips to signal your round two.
> He starts at a faster pace – continuing where he left.
> Meanwhile, you begin to purr in his ear.
> Diluc’s warm fat cock inside of you is just too much. Your walls tighten around him once again.
> Diluc is having a hard time catching up with your fast approaching orgasm. He knows you’re getting closer. Closer…
> A cry escape your lips. Your nails dig Diluc’s back as another orgasm crashes down on you.
> You both need to find your rhythm if you want to cum together.
------------------------------------------------------
❄ KAEYA ❄
> “Mmph…! K – Kaeya…!”
> You try your best to not make a sound but Kaeya pounding you from behind makes it hard.
> You and Kaeya, still clothed, are doing the deed behind lush bushes and trees. On the other side is a Treasure Hoarder camp. Its clueless members are going on with their busy lives – they are literally just there!
> One of your legs are propped up. Kaeya supports you for balance with one hand while the other plays with your breast.
> “Shh… You don’t want them to see you being fucked like this, do you?”
> Kaeya whispers with his sexy voice.
> “Or were you hoping for these group of men to toy with you?”
> His hand that played with your breasts travel to your warmth and roughly rubs your clit.
> You tighten around him and could not help but let out a louder moans. Luckily, the hoarders are occupied.
> Kaeya delights you clenching him. He grunts directly in your ears which turns you on greatly.
> It’s unfair how Kaeya has so much power over you.
> His thrusts become aggressive. Your hand covers your mouth as you wanted to scream.
> “Mmph…! Mmhh! K – aeya….!”
> “Do you want to cum?”
> You nod desperately. Because the moment sound comes out of your mouth, you know you’d be loud and dirty.
> “Answer me, [your name]. Do you want to cum or not? I don’t know what to do if you don’t tell me what you want.”
> Kaeya is a devil. You know he is.
> Without your response, his pace slows down. You grab his hand on your crotch to call his attention.
> “Kaeya, please make me cum…! Please use my dirty little pussy and abuse it hard…! Fuck me…! Oh, please just fuck me!”
> Amusing. Kaeya doesn’t need to tell you to beg.
> “You little slut. You really want me to fuck you hard out in the open, huh?”
> As requested, Kaeya bangs you hard. And without a care in the world, you vocally chant yeses along with his name.
> Kaeya chuckles at your loose self.
> He muffles your cries by pressing his digits on your neck and stealing the air from your lungs. He doesn’t want anything to interrupt his orgasm.
> You and Kaeya are so close. Even he himself is moaning sinfully.
> With a few more thrusts, both you and Kaeya cum together, letting out harmonious moans.
> You both stay still. After coming down from your highs have you both remembered other people are out there.
> The treasure hoarders are still clueless of you two, though.

“JK?” as his broad back faces you, you call out his name timidly, not missing the way he swiftly turns around as soon as he hears his name come from your lips. Hair wet and darker than usual, a very big sweat stain at the center of his hoodie. He had just gotten out of practice, you assumed.
“___?” he replied with the initials of your name as well, one of his tired grins plastered on his face, he must have been exhausted. You had caught on to him just as he walked out of the practice room in front of the elevator on your way to your office, right when you needed him, but now you weren’t so sure if it was a good idea to pester him. Even so, you didn’t know anyone else you could ask for help, aside from Linh who was currently in her own office doing other tasks you had assigned to her.
“Are you busy right now?” your eyes stare at him shyly, in hopes that he was willing to help you out, because you wanted to be around him, so maybe he could share a bit of his positive energy with you, the past week had been hellish.  “Could use some help returning all those heavy stacks of paper in my office”.
“Of course! Why didn’t you give me a call earlier though? It’s pretty late” he walked by your side and you enter the elevator, beginning your adventure around the company.
Jungkook was fun. Always bubbly and reciprocative, constantly trying his best to make you laugh and make the absolute best of your situation, even if he could be a bit stubborn at times. You liked the spontaneity he provided though, the way he would switch from one topic to another and how he would make silly faces at you whenever you locked eyes.
He didn’t know, but in pure ignorance, he had just made your day ten times better.
In the past week, you had received a lot of counterarguments, one by one, on how useless your management tactics were. Granted, you hadn’t expected for your ideas to be welcomed with open arms, but at least you had hoped they would take them into consideration. You had also been assigned a team, in charge of social media management, who worked monotonously and with little to no insertion in the actual target audience… your logic was: how can you advertise products to an audience you don’t even have the mere interest to know? You had designed a strategy, presented it, and no one paid any mind to you.
But for the most part, you felt lonely. Had no one to talk to, nor go to whenever you needed your spirits to be lifted up.
Chaeryeong was busy busy with group projects and work. To the extent where she would get up at seven in the morning and come back at 12 pm. It wasn’t always like that, so you didn’t worry too much, but the fear she would wear herself off like usual still crowded your mind.
You close your office door with a sigh. Tired from everything, but somehow, your heart a little fuller, knowing that maybe you could use Jungkook in the future to give you a lift. Both figuratively and literally because he had offered to drive you home, being the gentleman he was.
“Why do you look like a sad puppy?” he asked you once you were sitting by his side in his very expensive and luxurious mercedes. Tinted windows and jet black shiny paint covered the outside of his car, the smell of air refresher and pinecone filling the inside. Mans was getting hotter by the minute.
“It’s friday night after the longest week of work. How can I not?” you put on your seat belt and lean back against the leather cushions. He pouts in response to you, with a concerned look on his face.
For a second you wonder if he did this with most coworkers… being nice to them and offering them drives after having met them just a few times before. Kinda risky behviour, considering his position and squeaky clean reputation. You figure this would only last a bit before he realized he had more important things to be focusing on.
“Do you ever get chased home?” you ask randomly.
With one hand on the wheel and the other leaned against his door he meditated on his response. “It happened once… And then I moved out, got a new car and everything. Shit was wild” he chuckles and you think that was the first time you had heard him curse, like ever. Jungkook, friendly and everything, wasn’t too big of a talker, but with you he found himself spilling, without giving it much thought. It felt refreshing to hear his voice and listen to his stories and the way he expressed himself. He was more interesting than he seemed, apparently. “Aren’t you hungry, by the way? We can have something to eat before i drop you off”
Traffic was hellish in Seoul everyday at every hour, and choosing to drive through Itaewon on a friday night wasn’t the smartest decision on Jungkook’s behalf, but you didn’t have the heart to tell him that. Considering the demands of his job, he probably didn’t know his way around the city that well. You conclude taking a detour wouldn’t hurt. “I’m starving actually.”
He ends up taking you to a restaurant near your neighborhood you had mentioned being good and not crowded at all, the latter catching his attention immediately. It was a modest but nice place owned by a very funny and loud ahjussi. The man had lost count of how many times you had come down from your apartment at 11 pm and asked him to make you vegetarian tteokguk, but they were enough so that he could memorize your five orders by heart and the amount of saewoo mandu you could down by yourself in five minutes. You were making him rich at that point so the least he could do was comply when you gently asked him to shut the place down for you. Jungkook hadn’t asked you, but you knew how things could get awkward and dangerous quickly if too many people found out about him being there. “Ahjussi, you don’t have to” the boy protested as he noticed that the man had shut the blinds for him.
“It’s okay, boy. _____ has been single handedly paying the remnants of my mortgage for over a year now, I don't mind doing this for her.” he joked in his usual nature. already writing down your order and patiently waiting for Jungkook in front of you to voice out what he wanted for a meal. “And well, you and your friends are making our country proud, it’s the least i can do to thank you”
“Ah, thank you.” Jungkook bows to the older man. Your heart softened in your chest, seeing how considerate he was towards other people. He must be great with parents, you think. “Do you really not get that many people around here?” he asked worriedly once he sat back down on the wooden chair.
“We do! But she’s the one who comes the most often” he nods toward you and Jungkook smiles once he found your gaze, a glint of playfulness in his eyes.
“Can you recommend me anything, miss?”
“Of course, sir. Yeol-ah, double up my order. Drinks are on me today.” You yell at the man’s son in the kitchen, who was still a bit older than you, but also close to enough to let you order him around shamelessly. You knew him quite well, actually. He was Chaeryeong’s boyfriend after all.
The tall boy pokes his head out of the kitchen door with a very confused expression plastered on his face. “Aren’t we supposed to close in like, an hour?” Chanyeol asks his dad in front of you.
“Just go cook, I'll explain later”.
The two men go back into the kitchen and Jungkook looks at you with an amused expression on his face. “What was that?” he laughs.
“I’m very popular, you know?” it probably wasn’t a good idea to go there, but you felt a little drunk on his voice that night, and you also knew your friend didn’t mind. “In fact, Chaereyong from ITZY is my best friend, who would have guessed?”
“Yeah and my son is her boyfriend, who cares?” Byung-ho yells back at you from the cashier, pulling a hiss from your lips.
Jungkook still continued to stare at the both of you with confusion and intrigue, you guess he thought you were both joking.
“Wait, really?” he utters after a few seconds with big doe eyes and a pout on his lips, a combination that appeared when he was either confused or lying, which wasn’t the case then.
“Yes, my guy.” you laugh. “That juicy legged shortie is indeed my wife”
Jungkook loved the food, to say the least. It was all vegetarian and korean as fuck, a combination he never throught was possible, but downed like thristy camel. He was a loud eater, which was fitting of him and his politeness, something else you had noticed that night. You were the opposite, and actually despised the sounds of other people eating, yet, looking at him enjoying his meal so much made you feel full yourself. He made you feel like a kid in some ways too, brought back the times when being around others wasn’t so hard, and you still could have a sense of security around you. Talking to him was rather easy, maybe because of his welcoming nature, or because in fact he actually was interested in whatever stupid shit you were saying, something most people around you didn’t do. He also, amongst other things, seemed very interested in your job and the likes, always asking questions and absorbing information like a five year old. You had explained to him the five key steps of process design and the psychological effects on marketing in society to which he always responded with wide gentle eyes and attentive nods, not once looking bored or… annoyed in any way.
Was he like that, with every girl? Because you weren’t anything special, there were many other girls who worked with him everyday and even if you hadn’t seen him in his work space, you could guess by the way most women in your company look at him whenever he passes by that either they were just as captivated as you by his beauty or that he had fucked them. You wouldn’t be surprised if he was just trying to get into your pants either, it wouldn’t be the first time it happened to you nonetheless.
“I can walk from here, JK” you mention once you found yourselves walking towards the parking lot. A bit sad about the expense you had just made on food, it was your fault for trying to seem cool and rich, neither of which you were.
“Oh no, I’m not letting you do that, girlie” he unlocks the door and gets in, not even letting you finish or allowing you to fight back.
“My apartment is literally a block away” you protest in the car anyways. You fear you had been too much of a bother, and deep down, didn’t want him to feel like you were seeking his presence unnecessarily.
“Well, good for you. But, you paid for the food, which was a lot, and i don’t want my sugar mommy walking by herself at 12 pm on a friday night” you first freeze, and then burst a very loud giggle.
“Whatever” you slap his bicep and roll your eyes. “ Next time you can pay if it bothers you so much.”
“So there will be a next time?” wide eyes stare back at you. “Count me in. I´ll pick where we will be going, just lemme know when so i can plan ahead” he rambles, a little too excited about your suggestion.
He drops you off with a smile on his face and hopefulness in his eyes, promising to see you around the company. You, on the other hand, feel a tad confused as you enter your apartment building. What was going on?
You had overthought things so much your entire life that it suddenly became too tiring to do. During the past few years you had to learn how to detach yourself and just ride the wave sometimes. Once you had turned eighteen, everything started moving at a very fast pace, the pressure of adulthood fell upon you like a brick and everything was so overwhelming that you started to simply let the course of your existence take you wherever it needed to.
That’s how you ended up going out with Jungkook at least once a week for dinner or a drive around the city for more than two months. Without even noticing, he became so engraved in your everyday life that whenever he’d cancel plans because of work, you’d find yourself with a void in your heart and a rush of boredom filling your senses. Even if you found yourself in your living room with the company of your best friend whom you had seen at most four times in the past two months, you were still wishing you could share that intimate space with him instead, willing to let him a bit more into your life, in hopes that maybe he would do the same. Sue you, you were curious over the most intricate details about his personality, how his personal sanctuary looked and if the smell of his room is just as good as his car’s. You could bet a thousand dollars (maybe a little less, considering the unconventionalism that characterizes him) that he also had a few plants that only remembered to water three out of seven days of the week.
Hopefully life would draw you closer to more people like him.
"How's your boyfriend doing?" Chaeryeong asks you from the kitchen counter, sweet popcorn cooking in you popcorn-maker.
You sigh. "What boyfriend?"
She was a lot of things but oblivious, and you weren't either, just when you chose to be. "Cut the bullshit, you know who i'm talking about". The fake red head waits for your response as she pours the snack into a big bowl, and you on the other hand take this as an advange to search around the room for answers.
"He's just a friend" you say. "And he's fine, i guess… He doesn't really talk much about himself" you mention, matter of factly.
Chaeryeong nods beside you, understanding what you meant. Then, proceeds to tell a tale about her experience meeting the dark haired boy. "He's literally so quiet, but like, so incredibly kind. Once he tripped over and fucked up some of the decoration at an award show" she grabs a popcorn and continues her story. "He looked so panicked I thought his eyes were about to jump out their sockets — His eyes are huge, by the way."
"I know" you smile.
"My point is, he started to help the staff put everything back in order again. I think he's the only idol I've ever seen do something like that… i decided i liked him then" her beautiful features light up with mischief. "I bet he fucks great too."
You slap her leg. Hard.
"I'm only telling you this now so you don't get caught of guard when he actually manages to fuck you," her soft hands run through your messy hair, motherly touches easing the fluster in your body. "You know he's a big whore, right?" She adds after a while.
You didn't. According to Chaeryeong, who seemed to keep tabs on every single colleague of hers, Jungkook had quite the body count, not that you didn't have your suspicions before. Frankly, she only knew of two girls inside her company who had had some sort of situationship with him, but for the same reason, she also knew he had some history with other girls from different groups. "Yikes" you laugh nervously, in admiration of their ability to remain calm and collected without giving anything away to the public.
Thanks to your friend, you had heard lots of tea about other singers in the korean industry before, most of which were not as sweet or kind as they portrayed themselves to be, some even using their social status to get their way with girls. But for some reason, Jungkook had never made his way to your gossipping sessions, nor any other of his band mates (except for Jimin, who, if you remember correctly, used to have some sort of beef with one of Chaeryeong's company members). You guess it was because of his unproblematic nature that people chose to give him a pass for his sexual endeavors, not that they were of anyone's concern either.
Tumblr media
A knock is heard against your office door. "Miss _____?" A girl with a brown bob cut pokes her head through it, the dim lights of your office shining upon her incredibly healthy locks. "Jungkook asked me to deliver this to you" sliding completely into the room, she places a box with a note on it on your desk.
"Thank you so much" you wave her off as she walks right out.
The package had a strawberry flavored canned tea and a bento box inside.
"I remember you telling me you'd never tried tofu pancakes before, so I made some for you last night. Hope you enjoy! - JK
P.S. Text me when you're done, maybe we can hang out tonight."
You felt like crying, in all honesty. The pancakes were heavenly, and he even added some slices of avocado and a few scoops of rice for you, despite not being the biggest fan of the fruit himself. With a warm heart and relief washing over your body because you wouldn't have to waste money on lunch that day, you had had half of your meal before said boy gave you a call.
"Did you like them?" He said almost immediately. "My assistant told me she already delivered them to you" he adds in a rush.
"Jesus boy, calm down." You giggle at his excitement. "Let me eat in peace".
"No, tell me right now." he demands with a fake angry voice. Cutie.
"They're alright".
"Figured… you have no sense of taste anyways" the hangs up. A giggle escapes your lips. Boy was something else.
Later that day, the weekend started it's course. Jungkook had offered to drive you to the Han River, careful to mention the fact he prepared a bunch of snacks for you two just about five times during your call. The place was almost empty, given that the rest of the city was doing something else more fun than staring at the night sky while sitting on itchy grass. Yet, you wouldn't change the setting for anything else. Usually, when you and Jungkook were out, he'd be in silent wary of your surroundings and the people who could be watching you. It broke your heart, knowing that most of the time he couldn't frequent places most regular people had the pleasure of enjoying, like the movies, for example, or a food stand in the middle of the street. Still, in that moment, the handsome man in front of you seemed as relaxed as ever, munching on grapes and strawberries as he sat in silence beside you.
"This blanket is so soft, isn't it?" he commented all of a sudden, caressing the fabric with his hand. The thing was made out of polar fleece, no shit. You just nodded and grabbed a piece of fruit from his container. "One of my friends gifted it to me on my birthday" he adds.
"I know. It was me".
"Well, maybe you do have a sense of taste after all" he complies as he lays down on the surface, eyes facing the night sky above you.
"Says the one who uses toe socks" you say back, poking his weak spot.
Instead of going back and forth with you as he usually would, he just winks and closes his eyes. He looked so peaceful and serene beneath you, features carefully carved on his face and slightly blushed cheeks from the cold wind. Jungkook was like that, randomly over confident and flirty with you, but just as quickly would refrain from even disagreeing with you in the first place, scared that you would snap at him. He hadn't told you this, but the way you saw thoughts hidden in his eyes whenever you made a statement let you know his true intentions, leaving you to wonder where that came from.
"Are you tired?" You ask after a few minutes. Still with his eyes closed, Jungkook denies.
"I just don't want to look at you right now," he turns to the side, back facing you as an offended expression finds its way to your face.
"Yah" you slap his back playfully, not letting him finish.
"Because you look too pretty." he mumbles the remnants of  his statement.
Your breath catches in your throat as a shiver climbs its way down your spine. Why was he like that? He had no right tugging on your heart strings like that (if he was being serious in the first place because you never knew with him). You sigh, the blush his words provoked stinging your cheeks.
"You're supposed to say I'm pretty too" he turns around with a playful smile, expectant.
"You just go around giving compliments so you can get them back?" you hiss. "Why so insecure?"
"I'm not insecure, at all." He sits up again, ready to fight you and anyone who dares question the grandiosity of the confidence he had worked so hard for. "You can ask Linh about that".
To say you looked horrified was an understatement, hopeful that what you thought he meant was not it. "You fucked Linh?"
"Well, that's not for you to know".
What a gentleman, you think. And at the same time, ouch. He had just slammed a door on your face.
"That would explain the way she looks at you whenever you come by the office" you realize. Frankly, the girl looked a bit too panicked whenever Jungkook decided to barge into your space, usually bored out of his mind during his english lessons, laptop and notebook in hand, or struggling to get the questions right.
Tumblr media
"Well good afternoon to you too" you ironically greeted once he sat in front of you, frustration written on his face. Linh, who stood by your side, suddenly fidgeting with the papers in her hand.
"Not the time, _____" he slammed both hands on your desk, startling you and your friend beside you. "Why the fuck did you make me enroll into this in the first place?"
"I did not make you do anything, dude. I just gave you an idea" you excused yourself, eyes back on your computer. You didn't miss the way Jungkook's eyes briefly followed Linh out the room, though.
His eyes looked back at you, leg bouncing impatiently on the floor as he leaned back with a pissed off expression on his face. You'd never seen him this way, so you took that as a cue to enter under paid therapist mode. "What's wrong?" You questioned gently.
"I feel incredibly incompetent right now." His hands roamed across his face with frustration. A sigh escaped his lips as he held tears back. "School's always been this way for me, always trying my best and constantly underachieving" he explained.
He was obsessed with winning, you’d even go as far to say more than he was with his job (which was a lot). It didn’t root from narcissistic behaviour though, but rather out of external pressure to constantly overachieve and exceed expectations. He was mostly good at doing that, but everyone had an achilles heel, yours was reading for example, his was studying and school.
"Jungkook, you passed most of your classes with more than 90%, what are you talking about?" a fact he had brought up to you randomly when you mentioned absolutely nearly failing most of your literature classes.
"Yeah, except for English." he shook his head in the way he would when he'd feel conflicted or insecure. "I don't know what i'm doing wrong".
"Did you fail something?" you tried to get some more insight into the situation, still unsure of where all his worries came from.
"No, there's just this sentence I can't properly put together" he turned his notebook towards you. "Ah, just look"
There were some words he had to conjugate and properly place in order to form a grammatically correct sentence, more than five attempts written in neat penmanship on the page evidenced the boy's battle with the assignment. He missed one very important aspect of it, though. "There's a fucking word that's missing, dude" you explain, grabbing the pen from his hand and showing him where the mistake was. "It's not your fault, it's the teacher's".
Jungkook's serious expression didn't go away though. "Well, damn".
Tumblr media
You had some sort of emotional trauma with having people ask you for help, it made you think that they didn’t actually care for you as a person but rather just your skills. That was the way you’d grown up and what your position in society seemed to be as well, the one you could butter up and taste when you got bored. Heart had been broken many times too, whenever you’d realize what you thought to be a genuine connection was merely pure interest. Those thoughts clouded your head when Jungkook would randomly enter your office with a frustrated expression on his face, yet, that occurred less often than it didn’t.
Jungkook was not someone to establish relationships and bonds out of interest, you knew that. Or maybe not, truth be told, he was an authentic enigma, so open yet so closed and shielded from others to see through, and that didn’t exclude you most of the time, hence your wish for him to let you in a bit more before you could allow yourself to free fall into whatever was going on between you both.
You reach for the fabric of his hoodie, tugging his sleeve with your fingers just because you really liked the color of it, and maybe because you wanted to feel closer to him. He doesn’t react to your touch, just looks at your hands briefly as they play with the edges of his clothing. “Where did you get this from?”
“An online store, I think.” he replies softly, reaching for your hand on his arm, caressing the surface of your nails. “It’s a unisex brand, i can send you their link afterwards.”
“Is it too expensive?” you inquire, not only to keep the moment afloat, but because you genuinely liked most of his pieces of clothing, especially his hoodies and shoes. Jungkook laughs at your question and looks at you with a smile.
“I don’t think i would know, ____. I’m rich.” he says, playfully. And he was right, what was expensive for you might just be cheap as fuck for him, you wonder if when a lot of money is in your hands you start to become very tuned out from what’s affordable or not anymore.
“True.”
“I can buy you one, though. I don’t mind.” he adds. Soft look in his eyes, a pure and genuine offer that you had to deny.
“I didn’t say i wanted one” you lie, only partially, because although you’d not mentioned it, you did actually want it. “I just think it’s pretty” you finally let go of him.
“Or do you think I look pretty in it?” he pushes, a sucker for compliments.
“Yeah, that might be it.” you admit, because there was no point in denying your irrefutable attraction to the man, as much as you hated to be vulnerable, especially in front of him.
“I think it would look prettier on you”.

if u don’t mind me asking, why translation?? i plan on studying translation as well, and i would love to know what drove/drives you to study it!
Hi! Sorry it took me so long to reply!
I’ve always known I wanted a career in languages. I considered becoming an English teacher or teaching French in a foreign country/to foreigners in France. But for the time being, I can’t quite see myself as a full-time teacher. It’s something I’d ideally like to do later, once I’ve gained some experience and grown more confident.
Regardless of the industry you're in, English has become a requirement for most jobs. I didn’t want it to merely be a tool, but rather the core of my work. Being constantly immersed in my target language is what really prompted me to choose translation as a career.
In my school (the ESIT in Paris), most students are in the “trilingual section": they have their main/native language and two additional languages. For instance, someone might have French as their first language, then Portuguese as their second and English as their third. In this case, they learn to translate from both Portuguese and English into French. I opted for the "bilingual section", with French as my main language and English as my second. I get to translate from English into French but also from French into English. Most translators will be translating only into their native language. In the end, we spend much more time working on our native language skills than on our target languages. This is something that initially threw me a bit. I had spent so many years trying to make my English as flawless as possible that in a way, I took French for granted. But I've come to realise that there’s still so much for me to learn and discover about French. I think that going into translation entails loving your own language as much as your target language(s).
Translation really teaches you to be creative and shows you that there’s a million different ways to express the same idea. I enjoy improving and polishing my writing and sometimes work on a single paragraph – if not a single sentence – for ages. The satisfaction I get from finding the most effective phrasing or the perfect word combination is simply unmatched.
A translation is generally not the kind of task you can complete in one go and then jump to the next straight away. It's a slow process but an incredibly rewarding one. I’m learning to step back from my work and reflect on what I’ve written. I usually try to produce a first draft and then spread the revision process over a couple of days.
I hope to one day dabble in literary translation, but my master's degree course is dedicated to editorial, economic and technical translation. I've surprisingly found myself drawn to legal translation and all things related to contracts, vital records, etc.
(there are literally so many things I could have mentioned: learning to use CAT software, analysing a text and its target audience so as to choose a suitable translating approach, witnessing the way my peers work and learning from them, etc.) Feel free to message me if you have any further questions, I'd love to chat with fellow aspiring translators!

Translation: Manusoverlevering, part 1
Yeah, so... as promised, here's part 1 of the youtube video translation, from 0:00 to 24:20. (There will be two more parts, but they will probably take a week each.)
Any mistakes are there for your enjoyment - I'm a Swede translating Norwegian into English, which gives me two extra languages to føkk up. Ooops.
Also, there are a lot of starts, stops, pauses and unfinished sentences going on during the panel - I haven't cleaned that up, you're getting it just as it was said. So, yeah. Sorry, not sorry.
Anyway, translation (hopefully...) under the cut because it's looooong...
Presenter: First we’re going to see a video that one of the 181 has made about what it was like to bid on the scripts - that must have been a very exciting situation to be in - which ended on 109 901 NOK. So let’s spin the film and then we’ll meet Christopher Pahle and the rest of the crew. Enjoy.
*a short film about how 181 Skam fans came together to bid on an original script signed by Julie Andem at P3aksjonen 2017 [and ended up with three] is shown. [I began to translate this too - but either the picture quality or my eyesight is too poor so I gave up…]
Christopher Pahle: Hi, everyone. My name is Christopher and I’m going to be the moderator this evening. Um. Before we start, I’m just going to say that I noticed that we have an extra chair here so I hope that it’s okay that we brought an extra guest. So, please welcome Carl Martin Eggesbø, Henrik Holm, Ulrikke Falch, David Sjøholt, and Julie Andem. [the audience applauds] There’s a stair back there. Hello. We found out about an hour ago that Julie caught the flight from Copenhagen so we’re very happy about that. Congratulations on having been entered into the National Library. That's fun. Fun for Ibsen to hang with you.
Julie Andem: Just to think that we have the kind of fans that make sure that that happens, that’s…
C: You can applaud yourself for that. [audience applaud themselves] I think it’s about one year since the last episode, the last clip.
Henrik Holm: Sunday, wasn’t it?
C: What was that?
H: On Sunday, wasn’t it?
C: Yeah, I think so. And I was also told that it’s two years today since the trailer for season three was released.
J: Yeah. [audience giggles] Yeah, it’s cool.
C: But it’s been a year, how has it been since, are you getting some distance to everything, or? [he giggles] Well, you’re sitting here…
H: Yeah, we’re still here, aren’t we?
C: Yeah. But has it been hard to get some distance to it?
H: No, things happen in a natural order and it hasn’t been enough time to get a distance to it yet.
C: No. Is there anything you’re missing in particular? Something you’ve thought about?
J: I’m missing all the actors every day. And the team, the Norwegian team.
Ulrikke Falch: It’s been busy.
C: Yeah. We imagine that you’re spending all your time with them when you’re back home, but that’s not the case then?
J: I’m trying, but… I want to, but they all have lives without me, so…
C: One thing I was wondering about. You… none of you had your own seasons, and you might not have been told everything that was to happen in the season arcs, did you sometimes have to follow the story like us mere mortals via the clips being released?
H: Of course.
C: Yeah?
U: We got the scripts, though, so we knew what was going to happen. But it was always cool to see the recordings.
H: But we always got them one script at a time.
J: And it wasn’t everyone who actually read the scripts.
H: No… Me??
J: I was only looking at… I just said “not everyone”, I’m not mentioning any names, I’m not mentioning any names, just that “everyone didn’t do that always”.
H: I didn’t feel targeted by that. I didn’t.
C: I don’t think you should either. But, umm… you knew everything that was going to happen, most of you anyway, so was there something that came as as much of a surprise for you that it did for us?
David Sjøholt: We got the scripts via mail, so it was like…
C: And then you got the full script, not just your own scenes?
D: Yeah. Didn’t we?
J: Yeah. You did. Yeah. But I never released… it was only me and two others who knew the story arcs each season before the seasons began, and one of the reasons for that was to see the reactions I got from the crew and the actors on the scripts, because I thought that it would be about the same reaction that I would get from the audience. I remember that Ulrikke was very good at responding to the scripts, when you liked something in the script or in the story you immediately sent a reply like “oh, that’s cool”, or…
U: Or when I was unhappy, nag nag nag.
J: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
C: Was there something people reacted different to than you’d thought, Julie?
J: No, but there were some reactions that were stronger, like when I wrote episode eight in season three, I was very, like, it’s getting quite dark now. And then I sent it out to the team, and it was met with total silence, and usually it took just about half an hour after I sent out a script before people began to reply “cool script, blah, blah, blah, can we meet, we need a meeting, I have to know…”, but a half hour passed and an hour passed and one and a half hour passed, and then I got a message from my editor where he said “Fuck you”. And I thought… I remember that production meeting, because everyone was afraid because they didn’t know how the season would end, so everyone was very afraid of how the story would end. So everyone was concerned. So I remember I thought, like, wow. I hadn’t expected it to make such a big impression.
C: No, right. And then it’s particularly the scene, or, it’s the Plaza…
J: Yeah, it’s the Plaza…
C: And Sonja and Grønland and that. But it does say in the script, the episode eight one that will be entered today, because you’ve made some notes, and it says that people reacted… that it was heavier in the first draft.
J: Yeah. That it was harsher…
C: And that’s the scene in the street…
J: Yeah, with Sonja.
C: And how was it?
J: Yeah, I don’t know if it was so much harsher, but what I meant was that Sonja was even more convincing so that at the end you just thought that, like, this is just fucked. That you didn’t have even the slightest of hope. So then I added in a couple of elements that made you think that okay, maybe she isn’t telling the truth, so you could cling to that. But in that first draft I remember that it was like, okay there is no hope at all.
C: Okay. It was probably good that you…
J: Yeah…
C: Why do you think people reacted so strongly to that scene?
J: Well, I think that when you’ve identified so strongly with Isak, then you feel really stupid. And the whole dream of who you could be just shatters into a thousand pieces because here he’s been fighting his problems that are his fear of coming out and fear of being with Even, and he’s been thinking that Even has the same fears and that’s why he’s together with Sonja, and then it turns out that there are much bigger and more important things than him that Even is dealing with. So I think that if you’ve really empathised with Isak then you can feel both very stupid and very afraid because it isn’t a given that it will end with Isak and Even at that time. I think.
H: I remember… as I said, we got one episode at a time, and I remember that I sat, when I read the script, I sat and I had never been so shocked after reading a script, like, ever. I think I stood up and read it, really, like… [acts shocked] For me, it was like watching an episode because the images just started to whirr, right? And then it gets to Even running out of the hotel room, and I was like, what…?
J: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
H: And then you have to read it four time to understand what’s really happened, because it’s so… I don’t know…
C: Yeah, and it’s pretty intensely written and I recommend everyone to look at the scripts and read them, because I have, and that’s an experience in itself. I’ve read a lot of scripts and these were… I knew they were good, but…[Julie makes an “aww, chucks” gesture and the audience laughs and applauds] Um. We’re going to talk a bit about your characters in… in… first and foremost in the episodes that will be incorporated into the collections here now. Um. And… let’s see here, I lost the thread now. Um. Yeah. [Very serious voice] David. [David looks nervous] Um. You are, or, I’ve asked in one of the fan groups on Facebook what people were most curious about and a lot of people were very curious about you.
D: Mmhm.
C: They might not know, or, they might not know a lot about your character and how it evolves, because you really began more like an extra and then you were written into… When did you decide to do that, Julie?
J: Um… weren’t you auditioning for Even?
D: Umm? [David looks confused]
J: Really, we had, okay, as I remember it anyway, before season three we had a joint audition where we were looking for Even but also looking to extend Isak’s group of friends. And then you were there but I’m not sure if you knew that you really were at an Even audition…
D: No, I think I was… No, I mean, because I knew Tarjei, Isak, we’re best friends, so it would have been weird to, well… [everyone laughs] No, so I think it was for something else than Even.
J: Yeah. Okay. But what’s really funny is that I’ve gotten a lot of questions about who the nine original characters were, and Magnus was one of the characters that I didn’t… that I realised when I was about to create him for season one that I didn’t need him, that he was unnecessary, but then I remembered him when I was writing season three, and then David auditioned, and he has an amazing timing and an amazing comedic talent, and he’s just an exceptionally talented actor, and knew Ta… [David pretends to dry away a tear and everyone giggles and applauds] and knew Tarjei really well, and I have a kind of standard audition that I always use for boys when they come to auditions, setting them up two and two, and I think I’ve seen that scene a thousand times…
H: The youth [at least I think that’s what he’s saying - diction, mate…] dialogue?
J: Yeah. And then David enters and does it in such a new and fresh way, it takes a lot to, like, impress me with that script, but he was totally awesome.
D: Cool.
J: So then he just became Magnus.
C: But then the character was in place from the beginning, with a, with a character core diamond with a shame and things like that?
J: He really was, I don’t know if I shared it with you, did you get…
D: You sent something, but it was after it was finished. [everyone laughs] It was at the party, the wrap party, that you came and were like *high pitched sound*
J: Yeah, but I’m pretty good at keeping an eye on the logic of a character, so he puts his charm and his comedic talent into the character, which is a gift to me and the series, but I make sure that Magnus stays inside that logic, or inside the character core diamond that you called it. So I remove everything in the clips that goes against that during the impro, or remove it from the script, or, “don’t say that”.
D: Pretty often.
C: I’ve got a question from your future… I almost said partner [I guess Christopher is referring to Tarjei since this was probably filmed around when David, Tarjei and Jakob moved into a flatshare together?] that I feel like I’ve almost got an answer to already, but he’s asking when you’re most yourself in the character, like when Magnus is most like David, that’s something he thinks that you should answer.
D: Most myself?
C: Are there times when you aren’t yourself?
J: It’s a trick question, don’t answer that.
D: I think I’m a bit myself in all the scenes, but… most myself, I don’t know? Maybe when I act with Ulrikke, it gets like…
U: YES!! [everyone laughs and applauds]
H: I think you miss each other.
U: We miss each other so much. But David has got a girlfriend, so…
C: But it isn’t like, you mentioned about impro, because you’ve noted in one of the scripts, I think that might be the script that’s… eh… yeah, I can’t remember if it’s the one donated here or to Skeivt Arkiv [The Norwegian archive for queer history], but either way you’ve written in your comments that “the fact that Magnus and Vilde stand there and flirt was something we thought of there and then, mostly because I think David and Ulle are so good at improvising and we had to use it”, that’s in episode five when they’re on their way into the party.
J: Yeah. Do you remember the door there?
U: Yeah.
C: And you do have [David re-enacts the flirty wave] Yeah, right, it’s that one, and you do have a few of those scenes, and it isn’t always easy to know what’s improvised or not because everything seems very natural, um, what I really wanted… [he laughs]
U: All that…
J: Just go ahead and ask.
C: What I really want to know, um… that meowing…? [he giggles]
J: Yeah, that was in the script.
C: That was in the script?? [both he and Julie laugh] Of course it was.
J: It was!!
C: At the Christmas party at…
J: Yeah. It's because he’s the “cat hooker”.
C: Yeah, of course.
J: So he has, it’s been a running gag that he has a thing for cats.
D: Where does it come from, I can’t remember, where…
J: When you’re by the Christmas tree, we’re talking about…
U: The tongue, you improvised…
J: Yeah, that was impro.
D: Yeah, but I mean when we were… you meowed? I don’t remember that?
U: It’s an iconic scene.
D: I don’t remember that.
J: She meows and then you say do it again.
D: Ah. That one, yeah. I remember now.
C: Yeah, that is, that is…
J: That I actually wrote, but what’s actually impro was him saying in the scene where they’re sitting at the cafeteria [no, I’m not even going to try to translate ”apeberget”… Peanut gallery?] at Nissen and eat buns, and Jonas says, like, it was written, “I hooked up with a girl once that didn’t have a clitoris”, and then he says “I hooked up with a girl that had a cat tongue” and then it turned into “cat hooker”, and that was impro.
C: So the whole thing…
J: The whole cat hooker thing, after that ended up in a clip then that was just a thing we continued.
C: Right. It happens sometimes that magic appears during impro and then it turns into a whole thread.
J: Exactly.
C: That’s great. We have another scene too that I was pretty surprised was improvised that we’re going to look at, but I’m sorry that there’s been some tech issues, or, we’ve skipped around a bit so the clip we’re about to show isn’t exactly in the order it was planned, but, like, in the episode where Even meets Isak’s friends for the first time in the corridor, it says, you’ve written, “can't remember why that scene is so sparsely written, I think it’s just because I ran out of time to write so we improvised the scene”.
J: Story of my life.
C: And that in the script, all it says is “they greet each other”, but then it turned into a very, very, um, strong and good scene, not in the least in the way the boys react to… Isak is obviously afraid of how people will react, let’s see what it says [the script page is shown on the screen], it says, the stage directions are just “Isak stands on the stairs at school and is saying goodbye to the boys when Even comes by. Isak introduces Even to the boys, the boys jokes about how they got thrown out on Friday, Isak gets embarrassed”. Um, and that’s really that, can we… we have that scene so we’ll take a look at it, and it’s just, um, like, I’m just wondering how the boys’ reactions evolved. But maybe just watch the clip first. [they all turn towards the screen but nothing happens] If it’s set up, that is. And now I got a stern talking to about not being too quick with the transitions.
*the clip plays*
