kinda frustrating how so much aspec content (esp stuff published in like mainstream outlets) is literally just made for allos. like it’s always some article that’s just going over aspec 101 terminology and explaining various concepts and words aimed at a clearly allo audience.

i’m not saying those aren’t important because part of the issue aspecs face is how invisibilised we are and yes! it’s super important to raise awareness and let people know we exist! but it’s also kind of frustrating how it feels like 99% of not only our time but also all wider coverage about us is spent explaining our identities and giving ted talks to allos instead of like . discussing aspec issues and identity with any sort of depth or nuance.

Angela Chen (who wrote a book on asexuality) talked about thinking about aro/ace-ness not just as an identity but also a viewpoint or a ‘lens’ to examine issues through which i thought was interesting! like how does aro/ace identity intersect with our ideas of feminism, or of race? how does aromanticism inform our critique of the nuclear family and the institution of marriage?? how does asexuality play into our view of sexual politics? how does lovelessness deconstruct our ideas of ‘humanity’? there is so much to get into and so much ground that has never been covered but we are stuck!! on giving definitions!!

idk i don’t really have a solution here! because i know that on the one hand we need these kinds of articles that give streams of ‘aspec 101’ definitions because any visibility helps, but also i am so tired of having to dumb everything down instead of having actual discussions about aspec identities and what they can tell us. like hopefully we’ll get to a point eventually where we don’t have to do this but i’m still just. kinda tired :/

There is a future waiting for you where you will get to see and make new memories with the loved ones you miss that you’ve had to leave behind for the moment and there’s a future where you’ll make many more new lifelong loved ones. It seems so very and annoyingly far away right now but it’s waiting and you will get there. There’s a future where you’ll get to live with old and new loved ones where movie nights are common place and casual nights out and other hangouts and field trips are as expected as you like. Life will still be hard but it won’t be lonely. There will be people who will let you lay on the floor of their bedroom and complain and will come to yours to do the same and they will be within walking distance, either down the hall or down the street. It won’t happen today or in a month or maybe even in three years but it’s there.

i've spent this entire year processing trauma, accepting that i'm safe, curating my own space, & gaining new spins. I've been rebuilding myself from the ground up because there was none of me left--but sure. everything i like is a hyperfixation & everything i do is a hyperfixation---okay.

Just a heads up that any form of love portrayed in this fic isn’t romantic in nature :)

[Name] walked up to the door of the infamous “Hazbin Hotel”, a sour expression on their face as they knocked on the large door. A happy face poked through, her face lighting up at the appearance of a person as she swung the door open excitedly. “Hi! I’m Charlie, are you here to-”

“No, sorry, I’m not here for your hotel,” [Name] said, looking at Charlie for a moment before looking over her shoulder. “Is Alastor here?” They asked, looking at Charlie as they spoke in a rushed manor. Their hands clenched into fists and unclenched repeatedly as they waited impatiently for the princess to respond. “Oh! That’s fine, I guess, but-”

“How may I be of service!”

Charlie frowned at being interrupted again but stood out the way while her grip fell from the doorknob. Alastor stood behind Charlie, a wide smile as he looked at the person who called his name.

“Oh, [Name]. Hello again,” the Radio Demon said as his posture visibly straightened upon seeing them. His smile looked strained as his gaze remained on [Name]. The tension grew thick as the pair of partners looked at each other, unspoken words pouring like a fountain into the air between them. [Name]’s jaw clenched as they raised their hands and shoved Alastor. Charlie’s eyes grew wide and was about to intervene before the stranger began pointing a finger and yelling at Alastor, who stumbled backwards and held onto his staff to keep his balance.

“You absolute asshole! You left for seven years! You leave me for seven fucking years, and you reappear at some crappy rehabilitation hotel without telling me?!” [Name] complained harshly, stepping toward Alastor and shoving a finger in his chest as they stared him down. Their gaze was filled with anger, hurt and disbelief. Their eyes held tears that they refused to shed, noting the slight satisfaction in Alastor’s gaze. “I can’t believe you! You absolute douche!” [Name] spat, which Alastor responded with by gripping their wrist and pulling it away slightly. Alastor stared them down, laughing sourly as he glanced over at Charlie. She closed the door, awkwardly glancing between the pair as she debated whether to intervene or not.

“Now, now, my dear! Let’s be civilised, there are people watching,” Alastor spoke calmly, though the threat in his voice was no secret. He looked [Name] up and down, almost drinking in the fact they really were there and that he wasn’t dreaming of their existence. “Don’t give me that bullshit!” [Name] growled, pulling their hand out of Alastor’s grip as they spoke with a dangerous tone.

“Al, what’s going on?” Charlie asked, an awkward smile on her face as she stood next to Alastor. She looked over at [Name] and then at Alastor, concern flooding her eyes. Something was very clearly wrong, and Charlie being the sweetheart she was felt the need to try and fix it. Alastor turned to Charlie sharply, his everlasting smile growing wider than usual. “Nothing you need to concern yourself with, Charlie! If you will?” Alastor tilted his head off to the side, silently asking Charlie to leave the two alone in the entrance of the hotel. Charlie looked between them one last time before nodding slowly, walking away before quickly speeding up as she ran to talk to Vaggie about the strange encounter.

Alastor turned back to [Name] after Charlie left with furrowed eyebrows and a mildly frustrated look despite the smile.

“Where were you?” [Name] questioned, raising a brow while straightening their posture to match Alastor.

“I’m afraid I cannot tell you that, my dear-”

“Right, of course you can’t. You never could, could you?”

“[Name]-”

“No, Alastor!” [Name] yelled out, their hands clenched into fists tightly until the knuckles of their hands turned pale. Their breath was heavy as they panted, almost out of breath from the travel over and the yelling. “You can’t disappear without a word and just show up like nothing happened! Were you even- were you even going to tell me you were back?” [Name] continued, their harsh voice going softer toward the end of their sentence as they felt their hurt bubbling up. Alastor remained quiet, his gaze on [Name] never changing until they glared at him. He cleared his throat, his grip on his staff tightening.

“I won’t say it was exactly a plan of mine to tell you, no,” Alastor replied, staring at the hurt expression on [Name]’s face. Half of him enjoyed seeing the pain and suffering he seemingly put [Name] through, but the other half felt guilty. He felt guilty for feeling such satisfaction out of their misery, and felt guilty for having put them through that misery in the first place. “You must forgive me, my darling [Name]. I understand that this must all be troubling news for you, but please do note that this has nothing to do with you.”

“Do you really understand, though? How it feels to have your partner disappear from your hands for seven years without the acknowledgment of if they were even alive?” [Name] questioned, their tense shoulders falling as they looked at Alastor. Their gaze scanned every inch of Alastor as if they were searching for a sign of injury. Despite their anger and hurt, they still cared for his well-being. They felt relieved when they noticed no injury, before looking back in his eyes with a cold gaze.

“[Name], I promise if I could tell you where I was or that I was even leaving; I would’ve told you in a heartbeat. My love, I didn’t want you to be roped into another one of my messes,” Alastor spoke sweetly, raising a hand from his staff to hold [Name]’s face. His expression and voice was altered to seem sweet, but [Name] knew him all too well. Alastor simply wished to not cause a scene in front of the hotel staff if any of them waltzed even near them. And though there was a hint of truth to his words, it wasn’t all true. Resisting the urge to melt into Alastor’s touch, they took a step back as their eyes brimmed with tears once more. “Stop that, Alastor.”

“What do you mean, my dear?”

“Stop- stop acting like you didn’t expect this to happen eventually.”

Alastor’s hand hovered over the spot [Name] removed themself from before it slowly returned to his staff. He knew that the minute he returned, they would find out and confront him. He’s known for the last seven years. He gave out a reluctant sigh, clicking his tongue as he smiled. He knew it was time to face the consequences of his actions, he prepared for this. He was ready for them to take their leave. To leave him as he did them, except this time taking away the only connection they had to each other.

“I’ve never been great at telling the full truth, but dear, I do promise that if I could then I would tell you why I left,” Alastor said quietly, having the slightest hope that he could keep them tied to him. He really did love them, and sure their love was odd to most, he cared for them in a way he never cared for anyone before. It hurt him to leave, knowing he would be hurting his partner for something so selfish.

“I’m mad at you, and dear Satan do I hate what you’ve done, but I’m not leaving you.”

For once in his life, Alastor felt speechless from his surprise. They weren’t leaving? He looked at [Name], searching for a sign that they were lying. And though he saw their anger and hurt present, he saw no sign of a lie. They bit the inside of their cheek as they raised the hand and pinched their temple.

“I don’t forgive you, Alastor. But I trust you, and I love you. You are my friend and my partner and I am putting some faith in you that you do truly have a good reason for leaving for so long. And that you will tell me when you can,” [Name] spoke slowly, carefully picking out their words as they looked up at Alastor. They knew Alastor got into deals often and that sometimes they ended horribly, so they assumed that it was connected to that. Alastor’s expression softened as he reached his hand out to hold [Name]’s cheek. He analysed their face, gently stroking his thumb over their cheek as he gazed at them with a sense of gratitude.

“I missed you, mon amour,” Alastor said softly, bringing his forehead to theirs and pressed them together gently. Alastor closed his eyes and breathed softly, enjoying feeling them being near him again. “So, so much. I promise I’ll make up the years I missed with you till the end of this afterlife and the next,” Alastor added on quietly, feeling them lean into his warm touch.

“I missed you, too, lovely,” [Name] sighed, raising their hand to hover over the hand that held their face before raising their other hand and holding Alastor’s face in their hand.

They remained peacefully in each other presence, fearful that if they let each other away from their grasp the other would part from them in the blink of an eye. Charlie watched from around a corner, tearful but also overjoyed for Alastor while Vaggie watched carefully, not fully trusting the whole ordeal in the slightest.

Featherless Flight AU

aka dca avian au where these fucks r BIRDS

(disclaimer this is a sun x moon au. it also deals with heavy themes such as child abuse, death, violence, and. ya know. wutever tws come with the apocalypse (also these will not be talked about in detail in this post))

nothing robotic in them. just feathers, blood, and bones. a lot of that stuff may be lost or break throughout their story! but lemme at least tell u wut they look like (without having my own drawings OTL (i only have a ref for their faces (which im not confident of)))

a quick note for both of their designs, they r both Fully Covered in feathers, including their arms and faces (yes they have arms And wings). the only places that dont have feathers is their lower legs and hands. they have anthropomorphic legs. and their face shape is also similar to a barn owl, as shown here (ignore the lack of mouths, idk wut to give them)

suns design! he has the coloring and general design of a sun conure. hes full of bright reds and yellows, tho the green is replaced with a bit of blue. he has multiple crests around his head that fluff up similar to a cockatiel but theyre in a way that make it look like rays. in the drawing above is wut they look like without their crests raised; that is their default. suns feet r grasping feet which r 2 toes in the front and 2 in the back. sun has high speed wings so aes a lot faster. (if u dont know wut any of this means i recommend u look it up, im a bird nerd) sun is also specifically an omnivore (them having different diets is actually plot relevant)

moons design next. moon is the color of a hyacinth macaw tho his anatomy is closer to an owl. he has one large crest on his head like a cockatoo. its also colorblind! since its anatomy is based mainly off of owls, for moons ability to see at night means he can see less colors. and bc hes more sensitive at night his eyes r always half closed in light, making it look sleepy despite being fully awake. moon has raptor feet with 3 toes in the front and 1 in the back. xis claws r also much larger than suns. moon has passive soaring wings which is better for longer flights. and moon is a carnivore :)

theres also an eclipse but their design is an enigma to me even in my own mind

but back to sun and moon! if anyone is curious moon uses he/it/xe pronouns while sun uses he/it/ae pronouns. they r both aroace and love each other deeply (qpr babyyyyy). sun is genderfluid while moon doesnt give a shit (agender).

sun is more bubbly and energetic. very much high energy bouncing off the walls. hes the kind of optimist where u cant tell if their "bright side"s r trying to help or be condescending. its a master at back handed compliments. heavily a perfectionist and will reach the point of screaming fits if wut he doesnt isnt perfect. ae has a lot of self image issues. ae hides a lot of aers lack of self confidence and doubt behind a wall of "im the best", tho that wall can crash very easily. a bit of a flirt, but mainly bc he just enjoys seeing how ppl react. he takes compliments from everyone but moons compliments r always the best

moon is lower energy and calmer. at least, he acts like it. hes more reserved and if it wasnt for sun he wouldnt have any friends or talk to ppl at all. he fears abandonment and sun is the only person who has stayed with him this whole time and is the only person he truly trusts. is very aggressive towards anyone it doesnt know. despite being shorter than sun (hes 6ft while sun is 7ft) it definitely does a good job at intimidating ppl. over time when xe becomes comfortable with someone xe will eventually calm down and show a bit of a softer side to them. when xes actually calm and likes someone xe can be a bit... chaotic :)

im honestly not sure where ill start their story since ive already thought about their childhood but i also wanna write about their adulthood as well. the story of their childhood mainly deals with the abuse they went through, then with adulthood theyre shoved into an apocalypse bc... y not :) (btw the apocalypse is mainly just bc ive been enjoying apocalypse aus a Lot lately and wanna write one. the child abuse is for their development and to show y they act the way they do. while it will be fun to write their development, i am by no means saying abuse is okay and this topic will be treated carefully and seriously.)

theyre such a qpr no one even understands. beyond scout n the fried chicken lady's initial sexual encounter i like to imagine theyve become good friends. perhaps she was from boston as well and her and scout bonded over that, along with a shared sense of humor and laid back attitude. they hang out together and watch tv, get pizza and make out, talk about their childhoods etc. I JUST THINK ITD BE FUN OK.

her and miss pauling have their meetcute at a barbeque during the fourth of july. the fried chicken lady was invited to come along by scout and is just chilling and grabbing some extra meatballs for her plate. miss pauling initially notices her for being a pretty woman but as they talk and the night goes on they bond from both believing in keeping things practical. shes also a lot less uptight than miss pauling however, which leads to a lot of playful teasing (from scout too LOL)

i think scout and the fried chicken lady enable a lot of each other's worse habits and so miss pauling has to deal with two different messy bitches LMAO. also another headcanon i have for their dynamic as an entire unit is that miss pauling will be up late doing paperwork in her home office and they'll be sleeping on her bed, and when she's finally done she goes in and snuggles with them.

im just gonna leave out my thoughts about scout n miss paulings dynamic for the time being cause if i did id be here forever but i did already make a post on my headcanons which you can find here.

SO, here’s the thing : when it comes to ships in genera it takes a lot for me to actually have OTPs and stuff and this is especially true in ddlc for me. For me shipping is more of a “sure, i could get behind this” sort of thing, except if once in a blue moon i find that one ship that alters my brain chemistry but believe it or not that has not really happened to me with any of the ddlc ships. It has happened with the game as a whole, but not really with the ships. The only one that has come close i’d say is sayonika but that’s more bc they happen to be the characters that i think about the most

That being said, i’d say i ship every ship in the game, simply because i could honestly see all of them working out in one way or another. Sure, they’re are some i like more than others but generally all of them work. And yes, this includes the Mc ships even though i like them less bc the side stories blew it out of the park with the chemistry between the girls

Speaking of the side stories, they are the sole reason i got into the shipping side of the fandom lol. The base game, as influential as it was for me, never really ignited any shipping sparks ig. I actually could not care less for the shipping before the side stories, bc most of it felt kind of trope-y ironically enough. Like, Natsuri was the big one, which was only popular bc of the whole opposite’s attract thing (not that there’s anything wrong with that ofc, it just never really resonated with me). Sayonika was a victim of what i like to call the “leftovers syndrome” where two characters are shipped bc they are the only ones left to be shipped with.

And Mc.. well let’s talk about that actually. Mc x Yuri is well… how do i put this. They have absolutely nothing in common. I don’t necessarily hate this ship however, if i see it done right i can like it. Mc x Natsuki was alright, the banter was fun, they actually have things they can talk about, it’s overall a nice ship. I will say i prefer them as close friends, but if i was to see media (fan art, fics, mods etc) where it’s done right, i can appreciate it. Mc x Sayori is also a ship i can enjoy from time to time, probably the most out of any Mc ship. Again, i do prefer talking about their friendship more though but now that i’m writing this down i realise i’m just a slut for male/female friendships. Mc x Monika truly depends on what context the characters are given. Are we talking about non-sentient Monika x Mc? Bc that can be pretty fun. If we are talking about sentient Monika x Mc, i see a very interesting dynamic (not a particularly good one) where Monika is basically using Mc as a vessel for the player in her desperation. Can Mc feel this dynamic? Does he understand in some way that he’s the second choice, even if he doesn’t know the truth about their world? How does it affect him? Its fun to ponder about this ig, but it doesn’t really make for a healthy relationship

Then the side stories came out, where the characters evolved from their one-dimensional tropes into actual personalities with enticing dynamics between them and i was immediately sold. That being said, i still don’t really have an OTP per say, bc as stated before all of them could work out. Which is definitely bc of how we get to see each of them interact individually in each side story. In every side story, we see each character interact with the other and learn how to grow as individuals because of it. I could see each pairing happening individually, i could see them being a poly couple, maybe even a qpr, or just a very close friend group too! There is a lot of love between the characters, whether that is romantic, platonic or something in between im not 100% certain on, but the love is definitely there.

Anyway, you also asked what my favourite ship would be, and i’ll probably say Sayonika since most of the media I consume tends to be with them

jay and chip take this as well as youd expect! theyre obviously very betrayed and upset, and chip is mad at both gill but also Lizzie cuz in his mind she has just taken his best friend away from her :( they go their separate ways after an argument between all of them (mainly gill, lizzie and chip) and jay keeps trying to convince chip to go back, chip keeps trying to sail them forward and is even more deadset on finding arlin now (they drop off ollie way sooner, as soon as they get to zero-- which they leave for after allport)

gill would start to feel guilty but also the training hes doing with caspian and lizzie starts to help him, and hes also coming to terms with being in the oversea and in his mind the grandberry ship is helping him a lot!

anyways a lot of time passes, both ships go on canon-compliant adventures (HOWEVER. grandberry pirates fight off against the navy a lot more than riptide crew does in canon, so gill is also dealing with that .)

since it starts out near ep 50ish, its near ep 100 where they are reunited (in the black sea!) niklaus tempts lizzie (and by proxy the rest of the crew) by saying if they go and help him with what he needs (which is uh. gillion. its the same thing he wants gill to do in canon) that he will bring ava back (he can Totally do that guys.) and then he gets A BIT SILLY and goes to riptide pirate crew (atp theyd have all the normal npcs minus queen cuz that was all gillion's doing) and is like. Do you Want your Fish Guy? Hes somewhere in the black sea. find him for me and ill make sure he comes back to you guys . :D (he can also Totally do that.)

they meet in the black sea, have the same battle they did when they first got there (both albatross and grandberry together) and gill is still the one who saves jay which leads to sillyness ^_^ gill and jay . talk it out and whatnot, chip (once he stops refusing to talk to gill) and gill argue about it and have. surprise. another ice arena moment. theyre so insane.

i dont exactly think hed say hes happier on the grandberry ship than with chip n jay i just . think hes definitely less worried about being the main protector? he knows caspian and lizzie can hold their own (not saying jay and chip cant its just .. you know..) and is living with a lot less stress and also has worked through undersea trauma like how he does in canon except with lizzie and caspian so . hes definitely living a better life, and if offered a place back on the riptide crew he wouldnt just abandon lizzie and caspian after all that especially cuz he still has lingering pain from jay betrayal ^_^

has lizzie/ava (past), swordfish QPR (i love them), liz/casp (QPR) (have you heard how caspian talks abt liz?), and uh........ yeah thats it.

also little idea idk where to fit in here . thinking abt gill missing ollie and chip (once theyve made up) being like "the three of us can go back to Zero and see him!" and gill is just like .. "chip this is my family now, im so much happier here than I have been (OUCH.) I can't in good conscious rejoin you as a riptide pirate after i've spent so long with as a grandberry pirate. However I would Like to see ollie." but both ships go and see ollie bc. yeah ^_^. chip is. devastated :(

hes much stronger and also slightly crazier! the navy trying to kill you will do that to you ^_^

Romance is a plague and im immune to the sickness but its still annoying to see all the infected peoples acting like its romance is the only option (im maybe a bit salty about romance being everywhere, dont get me wrong i dont mind shipping or couples most of the time, its just that when its always there at all times its easy to get annoyed)

i may seem to lean in more towards romanticism of zolu but imma be real here

theyre a whole secret third thing to me like— idk how to explain it it other than their love and bond transcends what romance and platonic. yes i will draw them smooching and have hearts flying all around them but it is not exactly romantic/platonic... (i mean honestly i dont mind how ppl interpret zolu whether its my art or in general)

bc i saw this one comic that just... perfectly described zolu and the strawhats to me? it was about law catching zolu and then discussing with the other strawhats about it and they explained that luffy does in fact love everyone equally and the same. for luffy, romantic nor platonic is Not a thing to him. (this is how i view luffy's aroaceness !! love isnt a category for him. love isnt something he could just pick and choose or whatever. love is just... loving someone. love is for the people very dear to him.) and in the comic, the strawhats say that zoro's the one and only guy who could keep up with luffy's energy and antics. so they dont mind the things they do together in privacy or in front of them. they know how much luffy loves them ALL EQUALLY and they all love him back

on topic of zolu and aroace... i've been around spaces and talked to a few zolu shippers (qpr shipping count) and noticed how many of us are at least on the aro/ace spectrum. there's just Something about zolu's special relationship that attracts us, and if you ship them and are aro/ace, im certain you'd agree. (even if you arent, we can mutually agree that they are a third thing, right?) like, theres something so... aroace about their relationship. they can be seen as romantic and they can be seen as platonic, but what can be absolutely certain is that their relationship is definitely queer. bc it's not something you can easily describe or that their relationship is The Norm. theyre insane for each other. luffy's the sun. zoro's the moon. luffy's a good. zoro's the king of hell. they complete each other. they absolutely need each other.

my memory is horrible and i cant say the words properly but basically: zolu's love and relationships transcends romance and platonically. yes you can see it as either, but as an aroace, i Feel it is way beyond that.

and again, will repeat it a million times over (mind you, it's not canon. it's a widely accepted HEADCANON. if you think luffy's sexuality is something else, thats cool): i believe that luffy's aroaceness is way beyond "not interested in attraction/xyz/whatever" like yeah, he doesn't think about it because it doesnt matter much to him. he doesnt apply whats romantic or platonic to HIS relationships. he can recognize romantic, sexual, platonic things. it's just not his thing to really think hard about (he doesnt think much in the first place (affectionage)) he feels love for the people he cares about and if they feel loved by him, however he approaches the love (and if they accept that kind of form) thats all that matters to him. he doesnt label/categorize love because it makes no sense to Him to prioritize someone over the other just bc he loves that someone a different way. he loves everyone equally and treats them as equals.

and when it comes to Any luffy ships, calling his significant other "partner" is what fits best. theyre not just best friends, theyre partners.
