stevens relationship with gender is so fascinating to me. his entire diamond days arc is a clear trans allegory, but more specifically reads as a transmasc allegory, what with everyone reffering to him as "rose" or "pink" and feminine terms despite his repeated insistence that he is *steven*. and yet he never actually corrects anyone when they use she/her. he only corrects his name. this was pointed out in the tags of that one post youve probably seen:

this post doesnt show it, but steven is delighted when blue said this. obviously you can read this as steven being glad that shes making an effort, even if incorrect, and is just choosing to let the wrong pronouns slide. but its never explicitly stated. and like i said, he never corrects she/her, he only corrects his name. although it is interesting that, by the time the movie rolls around, the diamonds have switched to he/him.

its also interesting to mention how excited he was to put on pink diamonds outfit, and also how quickly he took it off once he got the chance.

of course stevens relationship with his mother and his identity issues are going to play a big part in how he percieves his gender, given that for a large chunk of the show he actually belived they were the same person, at least to some extent. ("im my mom and my sister?! what kind of magical destiny is this?!). how would you define your "agab" when half your family is telling you that you are a centuries old alien called rose/pink who has no sex and used she/her? not to mention all of the various gender identities and pronouns his fusions have.

thats not even getting started on how the gems percieve gender, which is to say, they generally don't. gems are sexless beings and their society has no concept of gender, although after spending a long time on earth im sure the crystal gems have a better understanding (i actually could talk about the gems relation to human gender a lot more but ill save that for another time). for steven, a child raised by gems for a good chunk of his childhood- who use feminine terms as a default-i can see how that would lead to some interesting perceptions on gender presentation.

thats not even getting into stevens gender noncomformity. and while gender presentation doesnt necessarily have anything to do with your gender identity, its interesting to note and i just think its really cool that a male protagonist is so unapologetically feminine

also i could talk for days about connie and stevens knight/princess dynamic, and how it parallels pearl and roses, but in a healthier way that nips the whole "obssesive self sacrifice" thing in the (rose) bud as soon as steven notices it. but then id have to talk about pearl and then wed be here all day lol

so yeah, stevens relationship with gender fascinates me. I mean, does the concept of "cisgender" even apply in the way we usually mean it to, given stevens unique experiences?

Things I Can't Buy Yet or Else I'll Hyperfocus Purely on Something I Probably Shouldn't

I have come to the conclusion that my shopping addiction and complete lack of funds to do said shopping is actually a good thing for my productivity. I would be a complete and utter menace if I ever bought the following this for myself, with the reasons inculded.

DVD Player- I recently bought a 10-pack of Barbie movie DVDs. This was bought due to a complete lack of self-ceontrol. You can tell because I bought a pack of DVDs without thinking about the fact that a DVD player is required to watch them and that I don't own currently. The second I buy myself a DVD player, I will be ignoring everything in the real world and binge-watching all of the Barbie movies I have ever own on DVD, and looking for the rest to complete the entire collection.

HBO Max- I have a slight hyperfixation and addiction to anything that is labeled as Teen Titans. Sadly, I have not been able to watch the latest live action TV series because I don't have the proper streaming services. Because of these two facts, I cannot allow myself to buy HBO Max in case I start binge-watching everything that is labeled as Teen Titans (excluding Teen Titans Go!) and ignore my basic needs and responsibilities.

This is a list that I expect to constantly change and be added to as I realize more and more things that I am completely obsessed with. Let me know if there is anything you have to hold out on buying in order to maintain your productivity and what reasons you have for them. I love hearing from you.

also im a huge sucker for vio being the one with a motorcycle in a modern setting and a seceret thrill seeking need. super fast bike rides, taking dangerous ways home, possible vigilante work? he encounters shadow in an alley somewhere in a sketch part or the city. stray cat adoptee style. ive known him for 10 minutes but if anything ever happens to him ill kill everyone in this room then myself @ each other.

comedic keeping it from his quadruplet brothets (the colors ofc). barely missed shadow popping out and shutting a door, catching something he drops, ect. somehow unseens JUST barely by anyone else.

Also bcuz im obssesed with it rn healthy weight gain from shadow's appetite. goes from ) ( to [ ] its a start. actually starts agreeing to trying red's baking (hes in culinary school for baking becuase i said so) EXTREME sweet tooth increase (see brains = chocolate) and red ends up finding put becuase while vios back is turned he pops out and steals a brownie and burns his mouth BAD. Red is horrified but cannot stop laughing that he burnt his tongue needing those brownies so much. vio is mortified this is how he, super cool mr mysterious in the night, gets caught. a freaking brownie!

red helps gaslight their family about his exsistence in exchange for him.having helped/helping vio be a healthier person in general. (they dont mention the near death experiences on a weekly basis)

shadow has zero sense of personal boundry. taking a shower or bath? hey whatcha doin there? vio reading? hes bored and distracting him. sleeping? staaareeeee (what is sleep? he finds out and it is great good nap) blowing off steam? hey whats that can i help?

potential of yes monster venom/shadow or a mix of like fusing the two together (both?? ) maybe shadow can eat enough to seperate for small periods and he looks like himself instead of blob and face that sorta looks like his face

hiya, i've been reading a lot of bella stuff cause im currently obssesed with him, i was wondering if you could write a bella x fem! reader where they're both actors and reader just had a movie come out (i would love if it's a horror) so she's having a lot of interviews and she gets asked what movie fascinated her recently and she says requiem (watch it if you haven't it's so good) and she says she knows bella has tlou coming out rn and wants to look into it cause she really liked them in requiem and thinks she's an amazing actor and let's it slip that she thinks he's also really pretty and bella hears cause fans tag them in it, but little do we know bella has had a bit of a crush on reader for some time now and then they finally meet at an award show or something and really hit it off if you know what i mean. i will leave the rest up to you! also sorry this is so long 😭

I'm so sorry, this has taken me so long to reply to, I've been really busy with Uni work and haven't had time to write.

Summary: You let slip that you find Bella attractive in an interview

You had spent the last couple of weeks promoting your new movie, it was a horror movie centring around a solo female protagonist who is hunted for sport. You had spent 6 months running in the woods covered in blood, so sitting in a hotel room answering questions from every magazine and website was a walk in the park but you couldn’t help the boredom set in around the second day when all you were being asked was how you felt acting with your male counterpart and if you were nervous to kiss him. Not being new to the industry you were used to these types of questions and they never bothered you before but today, it was just getting on your nerves. It maybe because you had spent most of the night before watching The Last of Us and edits of Bella Ramsey which then lead you to find out they were in a short film that was coming out in a couple of days. It sparked your interest and you couldn’t help but count down the days until it was going to be released. 

“You have mentioned before your love of indie movies, is there any that have sparked your interest?” The interviewer asked which knock you out of your thoughts. 

“Funny you should ask that, last night I came across a short film that looks really good. It’s called Requiem. It’s got Balla Ramsey in it and from them being incredible in The Last of Us it will no doubt be amazing” you say with a smile on your face, finally a question that isn’t the same. 

“I’ve loved watching The Last of Us, can we just have a minute to appreciate Pedro Pascal,” The interviewer said with a laugh. “My for you page on TikTok has been flooded with videos of him”

“Mine has been flooded with edits of Bella, It’s like every video” you chuckled. The interviewer responded with a raised eyebrow. Throughout your career, you have kept your private life very secret but it meant that your fans have speculated about your sexuality. For some reason, recently a blind item had come out that was rumoured to be about you and a secret girlfriend but you are single and all the blind item has done is added fuel to the fire of rumours. 

“Can I just say? I’ve been a fan of The Last of Us for years and when the show was announced I was a little worried as I didn’t want the adaptation to be bad but I have not been disappointed, the only thing that the show hasn’t got right is Joel not dying as much than when I play the game. Also, the comments of other fans have made about Bella are so disgusting, I think they need to get their eyes checked because you have to be blind to think Bella is anything other than attractive or not the perfect Ellie.” You ended up ranting and the interviewer was just nodding along, but you couldn’t help the sinking feeling in your stomach. You knew for a fact that the interviewer was going to use what you’ve said about Bella and add more fuel to the fire of speculation about your sexuality. 

A couple of days later. 

Bella has just posted a picture on Instagram of some behind-the-scenes pictures from The Last of Us. It had only been up for a couple of minutes when their phone was blown up with notifications, they knew where this was going. It would be filled with a bunch of hate comments about her and as much as he didn’t want to, he couldn’t stop himself from looking at them even though it hurts him. Only to be surprised, there were a lot of hate comments but most of them followed along the lines of: 

users1:BELLA HAVE YOU SEEN Y/N’S NEW INTERVIEW?!?!?!?!?

He knew your work very well, having watched most of the movies and TV shows you had been in. He wouldn’t say he had a crush but it was a point for his friends to tease him about. It was even something Pedro teased him about, you had a new movie released in 2021 in the middle of filming The Last of Us and for a soiled week or two, it was all he talked about. 

Pulling up YouTube to watch the interview as curiosity got the better of him. When they saw the interview in question it was clicked on immediately. For the second time in 5 minutes they were shocked, the clip from the interview was you saying “Can I just say?
