do you have a bucket list of fandoms you’d like to write for?
ooo this is hard because there's so many lmfaoo
So I'd love to return to Artemis Fowl but only if an idea sparks in my brain because I'm not going in there just to produce something I'm not as fond/proud of as Fairy Bound lmfao
Septimus Heap is another one I'd love to write more for and I actually have ideas!! I just need to brush up on canon and find time to write lmfao
Dude I don't know what it is about brigid kemmerer but her books are somehow just exactly what I want lately lmfao so I'd like to write for Forging Silver into Stars sometime and write more for Defy the Night (and judging by an ominous comment about book 3, I fear I might be devoting my life to fix it fics and aus for that one TT.TT)
The Girl Who Fell Beneath the Sea is one I have bits and bobs of a fic written for, I just need to finish it...
Gregor the Overlander is yet another one I'd like to write more for but that one's hard because those books are so devastating and amazing and if I really sat down to do something with fic for it, I'd want to do a 'book 6' type thing where I get closure and happy endings in a way that feels in keeping with the series, so it would be a long and involved project
Skyward but I need to find a ship for the character I wanna explore more of in fic because unfortunately i like romance too much to write gen jsdfa
I had this idea for Virals that if I ever reread the series I hope to write lmfao
And obviously Fence, but since im actively writing for it i don't think it really counts haha

Ya know I think L&Co might be just about the only series I've seen/read (in recent memory) that employs the Found Family trope that does not also force them all to go separate ways at the end and that just makes me love it all the more for it

rambling here so i do not forget
warring nations have feeble peace treaty cinched with marriage except sabo's sister the bride-to-be to the crown prince dies on their journey to the kingdom, leaving sabo as the only accessible heir and therefore the eventual replacement
meanwhile ace's father's health takes a turn for the worse and he ends up being crowned king just before the arrival of his arranged spouse. he's juggling a million and one tasks he had not quite been prepared to be in charge of at this point in his life and to top it off, the person sent to marry him ends up being a man.
sabo is also in over his head because he'd been traveling as escort really but now he's forced to take the place of his late sister and stay permanently, and also the crown prince she'd been supposed to marry is now the acting king so it's all a giant mess.
arrives at the palace and leaves the carriage when his sister's arrival is announced, then has to explain to the waiting party that no he's not the same person but he can explain and no it isn't a trick or going back on the treaty, so since his traveling party has an audience with the crown why don't they all just go over so he'll only have to explain this once?
ace isn't happy but he's too stressed to see this fall through so he allows sabo to stay. makes a remark about everything for the wedding being thrown out the window so they postpone it for now. lets sabo stay in his chambers for the night bc only a certain amount of rooms had been prepped in advance and obviously none had been for his fiancee.
tentative never met to suddenly married and living in close quarters (shared room etc) relationship.

I wonder if there's anything significant to be said about how 'the lone dalek' (the soundtrack) plays during multiple pivotal moments in The Satan Pit. I knew it played during the renuion hug but I also just discovered that it plays during the beginning of the 'i believe in her' speech. Putting this out there for when I have time to return to this thought but idk. something something about how rose acted so compassionately in Dalek leading to her being the Doctor's religion in Satan Pit something something

Hot take? Unpopular take?? Imma try to get somewhere with this point but like. I really think reading fanfiction inherently increased my standards for literature.
Cause for a while now I've only solely read fics in the past few years, like probably finished like two published books a year maybe (even though if I count my fic reads I'd easily be in the 100s from word count alone) and like. Recently got into the YA side of booktok, tried reading several of the most popular ones cause i kinda miss published books, and I just. side eye that shit?? Best example is ACOTAR. Read like 4 books in that series. Kinda get why it's popular cause the overall the main plot points (hot romance and kinda Mary sue protag) are good enough to get you into it but like. I genuinely had to force myself to finish it?? I have no idea why this is so popular.
Cause literally when I hold the ACOTAR up to my top 20 fics. Nothing. Not even my top 50 fics. Cause first off the plot is good enough but it's not something I've never seen before either. Same with characters. The writing style?? Straight up nope. Like. Is this really the standards for a good story?? There's so many good authors that write excellent smut and plot and characterization and just FANTASTIC writing style and overall quality of work and just. I don't get it.
I'm assuming this is a me thing, because I tried going through several YA novels and just. The quality of writing reeeally leaves a lot to be desired. The best thing I can come up with for the reason behind me feeling like this about YA is that the last time I was reading insanely, I was a teen, and now I'm in my early 20s so there's a good possibility that the same things don't intrest me anymore. But I keep circling back to the level of writing cause like. Idk. Just. I feel like while the plot and characters for a lot of these novels are good, what falls short is how it's written??? Like wtf.
