For those following the SAG and WGA strikes thereâs new shit a-brewing, this time targeting background actors (aka extras).
Some may know that one of the issues SAG is fighting is that studios want to take virtual scans of background actors and use them in perpetuity (meaning forever) without any additional compensation to those background actors. So you would just see a bunch of AI generated humans in future movies based off of a background actor that worked one day.
This is already shitty because working as an extra for 3 days on a union set (if you receive a union voucher each day) is one of the main ways to qualify for SAG eligibility. This means that a lot of actors working background do not yet have union protection and likely do not have an agent or manager to protect them. Disney has already allegedly told background actors to do this on the set of Wanda Vision: https://www.avclub.com/wandavision-background-actors-say-disney-scanned-them-1850709900
Hereâs where it's worse.
There is one main company that supplies background actors for major union and non union productions. Central Casting. They love to brag about their very long influence in the industry - in old movies dating back to the 40s you can hear jokes about hiring extras from Central Casting.
Central Casting has been including an electronic document for all actors in their database to sign as part of onboarding. Signing it gives Central Casting the right to use your images, your videos, and YOUR LIKENESS in perpetuity, forever. They would OWN your likeness. Instead of it being a studio supplying the AI background actors, it would be Central Casting instead.
Receiving any work from Central Casting in the future is conditional upon signing it. No signature = no extra work = no extra income for union actors trying to make health insurance minimums, no union extra work for pre-SAG members.
SAG already reached out to Central Casting to tell them to stop. Central Casting refused.
Edit to say: this is not new. Itâs part of actors onboarding and is called the Photo, Image, and Video Release. Itâs phrased to sound like you are just giving them permission to use your image and video for CCâs website and promotional purposes. But the actual language is much broader. It's only recently being brought up as a point for discussion because some casting directors (who are generally supportive of the strike) started pointing it out.
Central Casting is owned by Entertainment Partners which is also a giant software conglomerate and owns a lot of the software used to organize background casting and pay actors. https://www.ep.com/company/about-us/

The bill in question is Senate Bill 20. Sponsored by GOP senator Pete Flores, the bill, in its own words, âcreates a new state offense for the possession or promotion of obscene material that appears to depict a child younger than 18 years old, regardless of whether the depiction is of an actual child, cartoon or animation, or an image created using an artificial intelligence application or other computer software.â Furthermore, subparagraph c of the bill states: âAn offense under this section is a state jail felony,â directing first-time offenders convicted under this law to a minimum of five years in prison, simply for owning or viewing such material. As many responses have pointed out, many popular manga would be banned in Texas if this law is signed into law, which certainly seems like it will at this point. Goblin Slayer is the example many are pointing to, due to the infamous assault scenes of characters by goblins in the early issues.
We haven't even been winning the culture war for a year and conservatives are already speedrunning ways to lose it again. I shouldn't be surprised by these kinds of self-inflicted Ls, but I am, and they still piss me off.
Censorship is evil and wrong. And this is pure censorship. Expanding the definition of child porn to include fake images of children that don't exist does absolutely nothing to protect real children. It just gives the anti-porn puritans something to ban. Because that's what censorious puritans do. They ban everything they don't like, because fuck freedom, personal choice, and the 1st Amendment, right?
"It's okay when we do it" isn't just the motto of the Democrats. It's an increasingly loud rallying cry from people on the right who, not even a year ago, were rightfully pushing back against the left censoring media that didn't fit their moral standards. And it's what's going to lead us back into our nice, echoey caves once the culture war turns against us and we retreat like we always do.

OK since I haven't seen too many people talk about this since twitter news usually strikes pretty fast over here whenever e'usk does anything ever, let me give ya'll the run down on two things that will go live on NOVEMBER 15TH and why people are mass migrating to Blue Sky once more; and provide resources to help protect your art and make the transition to Blue Sky easier if you so choose:

The Block function no longer blocks people as intended. It now basically acts as a glorified Mute button. Even when you block someone, they can still see your posts, but they can't engage in them. If your account is a Public one and not a Private one, people you blocked will see your posts.
They say because people can easily "share and hide harmful or private information about those they've blocked," they changed it this way for "greater transparency." When in reality, this is an extremely dangerous change, as the whole point of blocking is to cease interaction with people entirely for a plethora of reasons, i.e. stalking, harassment, spam, endangerment, or just plainly annoying and not wanting to see said tweets/accounts. or you know, for 18+ accounts who do not want minors interacting with them or their material at all (There is speculation saying these changes are specifically for Elon himself so he can do his own kind of stalking, and honestly, with the private likes change, it lowkey checks out in my opinion)
Also, this straight up goes against and may violate Apple and Google's app store policies and also is straight up illegal in Canada and probably other countries as well.

If this ACTUALLY goes through, twitter will only be available in select countries, probably exclusively in the US, which would collapse the site with the lost of users and stock, and probably be the last push it needs to kill the site. And if not, will be a very sad and exclusive platform made for specific kinds of people who line up with musk's line of thinking.
2. New policies regarding Grok AI and basically removing the option to opt out of Grok's information gathering to improve their software.
And anything you upload/post on the site is considered "fair game" with "royalty-free licenses" and they can do whatever they please with it. Primarily using any and all posts on twitter to train their Grok AI. A few months ago, there was a setting you can opt out of so they couldn't take anything you post to "improve" Grok, but I guess because so many people were opting out, they decided to make it mandatory as part of the policy change (This is mainly speculation from what I hear).
So this is considered the final straw for a LOT of people, especially artists who have been gripping on to twitter for as long as they can, but the AI nonsense is too much for people now, including myself. Lot's of people are moving to Blue Sky for good reason, and from personal experience, it is literally 10x better than twitter ever was, even before elon took over. There is no algorithm on there, and you can save "feeds" to your timeline to have a catered timelines to hop between if your looking for something specific like furry art or game dev stuff. It's taken them a bit to get off the ground and add much needed features, but it's genuinely so much better now
RESOURCES
Project Glaze & Cara
If you're an artist who's still on twitter or trying to ride it out for as long as you can for whatever reason you have, do yourself a favor and Glaze and/or Nightshade your work. Project Glaze is a free program designed to protect your art work from getting scrapped by AI machines. Glazing basically makes it harder to adapt and copy artwork that AI programs try to scan, while Nightshade basically "poisons" works to make AI libraries much more unstable and generate images completely off the mark. (These are layman's terms I'm using here, but follow the link to get more information)
The only problem with these programs is that they can be resource intensive for computers, and not every pc can run glaze. It's basically like rendering a frame/animation, you gotta let your pc sit there to get it glazed/nightshade, and depending on the intensity and power of your pc, this may take minutes to hours depending on how much you wanna protect your work.
HOWEVER, there are two alternatives, WebGlaze and Cara
WebGlaze is an in browser version of the program, so your pc doesn't have to do the heavy lifting. You do need to have an account with Glaze and be invited to use the program (I have not done so personally so I don't know much about the process.)
Cara is an artist focused site that doubles as both a portfolio site and a general social media platform. They've partnered with Glaze and have their own browser glazing called "Cara Glaze," and highly encourage users to post their work Glazed and are extremely anti-ai. You do get limited uses per day to glaze your work, so if you plan on doing a huge backlog uploading of your art, it may take awhile if your using just Cara Glaze.
Some twitter users have suggested glazing your art, cropping it, and overlaying it with a frame telling people to follow them elsewhere like on Bluesky. Here's a template someone provided if you wanna use this one or make your own.
Blue Sky Resources and Tips
So if your a twitter user and your about to realize the hellish task of refollowing a massive chunk of people you follow, have no fear, there's an extension called Sky Follower Bridge (Firefox & Chrome links). This is a very basic extension that makes it really easy to find people on Bluesky
It sorts them out by trying to find matching usernames, usernames in descriptions, or by screen name. It's not 100% perfect, there's a couple people I already follow on Blue Sky but the extension could not find them on twitter correctly, but I still found a huge chunk of people. Also if your worried that this extension is "iffy," they do have a github open with the source publicly available and the Blue Sky Team themselves have promoted the extension in their recent posts while welcoming new users to the platform.
FEEDS and LABELS
OK SO THE COOLEST PART ABOUT BLUESKY IS THE FEEDS SYSTEM. Basically if you've made a twitter list before, it's like that, but way more customizable and caters to specific types of posts/topics. Consolidating them into a timeline/feed that exclusively filled about those particular topics, or just people in general. There's thousands to pick and choose from!
Here's a couple of mine that I have saved and ready (down below). Some feeds I have saved so I can jump to seeing what my friends and mutuals are up to, and see their posts specifically so it doesn't get lost in reposts or other accounts, and also specialized feeds for browsing artists within the furry community.
The Furry Community feeds I have here were created by people who've built an algorithm to place any #furry or #furryart or other special tags like #Furrystreamer or #furrydev. They even have one for commissions, and yes you can say commissions on a post and not have it destroyed or shadow banned. You are safe.
If you want, and I highly recommend it to get visibility and check out a neat community, follow furryli.st to get added to their list and feeds. Once your on the list, even without a hashtag, you'll still pop up in their specialized feeds as just a member of the community there. There are plenty of other feeds out there besides this one, but I feel like a lot of people could use one like this. They even got ones for OC specific too I remember seeing somewhere.
And in terms of labels, they can be either ways to help label yourself with specific things or have user created accessibility settings to help better control your experience on Blue Sky.
And my personal favorite: Ai Imagery Labeler. Removes any AI stuff or hides it to the best of it's abilities, and it does a pretty good job, I have not seen anything AI related since subscribing to it.
Finally, HASHTAGS WORK & No need to censor yourself!
This is NOT like twitter or any other big named social media site AT ALL, so you don't have to work around words to get your stuff out there and be seen. There are literally feeds built around having commissions getting and art seen! Some people worry about bots and that has been a recent issue since a lot of people are migrating to Blue Sky, but it comes with any social media territory.
ALSO COOL PART,
you can search a hashtag on someone's profile and search exclusively on that profile as well! You can even put the hashtag in bio for easy access if you have a specialize tag like here on tumblr. OR EVEN BUILD YOUR OWN ART FEED FOR YOUR STUFF SPECIFICALLY!
So yeah, there's your quick run down about twitter's current burning building, how to protect your art, and what to do when you move to Blue Sky! Have fun!

On that recent Disney Vs Midjourney court thing wrt AI, how strong do you think their case is in a purely legal sense, what do you think MJ's best defenses are, how likely is Disney to win, and how bad would the outcome be if they do win?
Oh sure, ask an easy one.
In a purely legal sense, this case is very questionable.
Scraping as fair use has already been established when it comes to text in legal cases, and infringement is based on publication, not inspiration. There's also the question of if Midjourney would be responsible for their users' creations under safe harbor provisions, or even basic understanding of what an art tool is. Adobe isn't responsible for the many, many illegal images its software is used to make, after all.
The best defense, I would say, is the fair use nature of dataset training and the very nature of transformative work, which is protected, requires the work-to-be-transformed is involved. Disney's basic approach of 'your AI knows who our characters are, so that proves you stole from us' would render fair use impossible.
I don't think its likely for Disney to win, but the problem with civil action is proof isn't needed, just convincing. Bad civil cases happen all the time, and produce case law. Which is what Disney is trying to do here.
If Disney wins, they'll have pulled off a coup of regulatory capture, basically ensuring that large media corporations can replace their staff with robots but that small creators will be limited to underpowered models to compete with them.
Worse, everything that is a 'smoking gun' when it comes to copyright infringement on Midjourney? That's fan art. All that "look how many copyrighted characters they're using-" applies to the frontpage of Deviantart or any given person's Tumblr feed more than to the featured page of Midjourney.
Every single website with user-generated content it chock full of copyright infringement because of fan art and fanfic, and fair use arguments are far harder to pull out for fan-works. The law won't distinguish between a human with a digital art package and a human with an AI art package, and any win Disney makes against MJ is a win against Artstation, Deviantart, Rule34.xxx, AO3, and basically everyone else.
"We get a slice of your cheese if enough of your users post our mouse" is not a rule you want in law.
And the rules won't be enforced by a court 9/10 times. Even if your individual work is plainly fair use, it's not going to matter to whatever image-based version of youtube's copyreich bots gets applied to Artstation and RedBubble to keep the site owners safe.
Even if you're right, you won't have the money to fight.
Heck, Adobe already spies on what you make to report you to the feds if you're doing a naughty, imagine it's internal watchdogs throwing up warnings when it detects you drawing Princess Jasmine and Ariel making out. That may sound nuts, but it's entirely viable.
And that's just one level of possible nightmare. If the judgement is broad enough, it could provide a legal pretext for pursuing copyright lawsuits over style and inspiration. Given how consolidated IP is, this means you're going to have several large cabals that can crush any new work that seems threatening, as there's bound to be something they can draw a connection to.
If you want to see how utterly stupid inspiration=theft is, check out when Harlan Ellison sued James Cameron over Terminator because Cameron was dumb enough to say he was inspired by Demon with a Glass Hand and Soldier from the Outer Limits.
Harlan was wrong on the merits, wrong ethically, and the case shouldn't have been entertained in the first place, but like I said, civil law isn't about facts. Cameron was honest about how two episodes of a show he saw as a kid gave him this completely different idea (the similarities are 'robot that looks like a guy with hand reveal' and 'time traveling soldier goes into a gun store and tries to buy future guns'), and he got unjustly sued for it.
If you ever wonder why writers only talk about their inspirations that are dead, that's why. Anything that strengthens the "what goes in" rather than the "what goes out" approach to IP is good for corps, bad for culture.

Apple's encryption capitulation

I'm on a 20+ city book tour for my new novel PICKS AND SHOVELS. Catch me in NYC on TOMORROW (26 Feb) with JOHN HODGMAN and at PENN STATE THURSDAY (Feb 27). More tour dates here. Mail-order signed copies from LA's Diesel Books.
The UK government has just ordered Apple to secretly compromise its security for every iOS user in the world. Instead, Apple announced it will disable a vital security feature for every UK user. This is a terrible outcome, but it just might be the best one, given the circumstances:
https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cgj54eq4vejo
So let's talk about those circumstances. In 2016, Theresa May's Conservative government passed a law called the "Investigative Powers Act," better known as the "Snooper's Charter":
https://www.snooperscharter.co.uk/
This was a hugely controversial law for many reasons, but most prominent was that it allowed British spy agencies to order tech companies to secretly modify their software to facilitate surveillance. This is alarming in several ways. First, it's hard enough to implement an encryption system without making subtle errors that adversaries can exploit.
Tiny mistakes in encryption systems are leveraged by criminals, foreign spies, griefers, and other bad actors to steal money, lock up our businesses and governments with ransomware, take our data, our intimate images, our health records and worse. The world is already awash in cyberweapons that terrible governments and corporations use to target their adversaries, such as the NSO Group malware that the Saudis used to hack Whatsapp, which let them lure Jamal Khashoggi to his death. The stakes couldn't be higher:
https://pluralistic.net/2025/02/04/citizen-lab/#nso-group
Encryption protects everything from the software updates for pacemakers and anti-lock braking to population-scale financial transactions and patient records. Deliberately introducing bugs into these systems to allow spies and cops to "break" encryption when they need to is impossible, which doesn't stop governments from demanding it. Notoriously, when former Australian PM Malcolm Turnbull was told that the laws of mathematics decreed that there is no way to make encryption that only stops bad guys but lets in good guys, he replied "The laws of mathematics are very commendable but the only law that applies in Australia is the law of Australia":
https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2017/07/australian-pm-calls-end-end-encryption-ban-says-laws-mathematics-dont-apply-down
The risks don't stop with bad actors leveraging new bugs introduced when the "lawful interception" back-doors are inserted. The keys that open these back-doors inevitably circulate widely within spy and police agencies, and eventually â inevitably â they leak. This is called the "keys under doormats" problem: if the police order tech companies to hide the keys to access billions of peoples' data under their doormats, eventually, bad guys will find them there:
https://academic.oup.com/cybersecurity/article/1/1/69/2367066
Again, this isn't a theoretical risk. In 1994, Bill Clinton signed a US law called CALEA that required FBI back-doors for data switches. Most network switches in use today have CALEA back-doors and they have been widely exploited by various bad guys. Most recently, the Chinese military used CALEA backdoors to hack Verizon, AT&T and Lumen:
https://pluralistic.net/2024/10/07/foreseeable-outcomes/#calea
This is the backdrop against which the Snooper's Charter was passed. Parliament stuck its fingers in its ears, covered its eyes, and voted for the damned thing, swearing that it would never result in any of the eminently foreseeable harms they'd been warned of.
Which brings us to today. Two weeks ago, the Washington Post's Joseph Menn broke the story that Apple had received a secret order from the British government, demanding that they install a back-door in the encryption system that protects cloud backups of iOS devices:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2025/02/07/apple-encryption-backdoor-uk/
Virtually every iOS device in the world regularly backs itself up to Apple's cloud backup service. This is very useful: if your phone or tablet is lost, stolen or damaged, you can recover your backup to a new device in a matter of minutes and get on with your day. It's also very lucrative for Apple, which charges every iOS user a few dollars every month for backup services. The dollar amount here is small, but that sum is multiplied by the very large number of Apple devices, and it rolls in every single month.
Since 2022, Apple has offered its users a feature called "Advanced Data Protection" that employs "end-to-end" encryption (E2EE) for these backups. End-to-end encryption keeps data encrypted between the sender and the receiver, so that the service provider can't see what they're saying to each other. In the case of iCloud backups, this means that while an Apple customer can decrypt their backup data when they access it in the cloud, Apple itself cannot. All Apple can see is that there is an impenetrable blob of user data on one of its servers.
2022 was very late for Apple to have added E2EE to its cloud backups. After all, in 2014, Apple customers suffered a massive iCloud breach when hackers broke into the iCloud backups of hundreds of celebrities, leaking nude photos and other private data, in a breach colloquially called "Celebgate" or "The Fappening":
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2014_celebrity_nude_photo_leak
Apple almost rolled out E2EE for iCloud in 2018, but scrapped the plans after Donald Trump's FBI leaned on them:
https://www.reuters.com/article/world/exclusive-apple-dropped-plan-for-encrypting-backups-after-fbi-complained-sour-idUSKBN1ZK1CO/
Better late than never. For three years, Apple customers' backups have been encrypted, at rest, on Apple's servers, their contents fully opaque to everyone except the devices' owners. Enter His Majesty's Government, clutching the Snooper's Charter. As the eminent cryptographer Matthew Green writes, a secret order to compromise the cloud backups of British users is necessarily a secret order to compromise all users' encrypted backups:
https://blog.cryptographyengineering.com/2025/02/23/three-questions-about-apple-encryption-and-the-u-k/
There's no way to roll out a compromised system in the UK that differs from non-British backups without the legion of reverse-engineers and security analysts noticing that something new is happening in Britain and correctly inferring that Apple has been served with a secret "Technical Capability Notice" under the Snooper's Charter:
Even if you imagine that Apple is only being asked only to target users in the U.K., the company would either need to build this capability globally, or it would need to deploy a new version or âzoneâ1 for U.K. users that would work differently from the version for, say, U.S. users. From a technical perspective, this would be tantamount to admitting that the U.K.âs version is somehow operationally distinct from the U.S. version. That would invite reverse-engineers to ask very pointed questions and the secret would almost certainly be out.
For Apple, the only winning move was not to play. Rather than breaking the security for its iCloud backups worldwide, it simply promised to turn off all security for backups in the UK. If they go through with it, every British iOS user â doctors, lawyers, small and large business, and individuals â will be exposed to incalculable risk from spies and criminals, both organized and petty.
For Green, this is Apple making the best of an impossible conundrum. Apple does have a long and proud history of standing up to governmental demands to compromise its users. Most notably, the FBI ordered Apple to push an encryption-removing update to its phones in 2016, to help it gain access to a device recovered from the bodies of the San Bernardino shooters:
https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2016/02/eff-support-apple-encryption-battle
But it's worth zooming out here for a moment and considering all the things that led up to Apple facing this demand. By design, Apple's iOS platform blocks users from installing software unless Apple approves it and lists it in the App Store. Apple uses legal protections (such as Section 1201 of the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act and Article 6 of the EUCD, which the UK adopted in 2003 through the Copyright and Related Rights Regulations) to make it a jailable offense to reverse-engineer and bypass these blocks. They also devote substantial technical effort to preventing third parties from reverse-engineering its software and hardware locks. Installing software forbidden by Apple on your own iPhone is thus both illegal and very, very hard.
This means that if Apple removes an app from its App Store, its customers can no longer get that app. When Apple launched this system, they were warned â by the same cohort of experts who warned the UK government about the risks of the Snooper's Charter â that it would turn into an attractive nuisance. If a corporation has the power to compromise billions of users' devices, governments will inevitably order that corporation to do so.
Which is exactly what happened. Apple has already removed all working privacy tools for its Chinese users, purging the Chinese App Store of secure VPN apps, compromising its Chinese cloud backups, and downgrading its Airdrop file-transfer software to help the Chinese state crack down on protesters:
https://pluralistic.net/2022/11/11/foreseeable-consequences/#airdropped
These are the absolutely foreseeable â and foreseen â outcomes of Apple arrogating total remote control over its customers' devices to itself. If we're going to fault Theresa May's Conservatives for refusing to heed the warnings of the risks introduced by the Snooper's Charter, we should be every bit as critical of Apple for chasing profits at the expense of billions of its customers in the face of warnings that its "curated computing" model would inevitably give rise to the Snooper's Charter and laws like it.
As Pavel Chekov famously wrote: "a phaser on the bridge in act one will always go off by act three." Apple set itself up with the power to override its customers' decisions about the devices it sells them, and then that power was abused in a hundred ways, large and small:
https://pluralistic.net/2023/09/22/vin-locking/#thought-differently
Of course, there are plenty of third-party apps in the App Store that allow you to make an end-to-end encrypted backup to non-Apple cloud servers, and Apple's onerous App Store payment policies mean that they get to cream off 30% of every dollar you spend with its rivals:
https://www.reddit.com/r/privacy/comments/1iv072y/endtoend_encrypted_alternative_to_icloud_drive/
It's entirely possible to find an end-to-end encrypted backup provider that has no presence in the UK and can tell the UK government to fuck off with its ridiculous back-door demands. For example, Signal has repeatedly promised to pull its personnel and assets out of the UK before it would compromise its encryption:
https://pluralistic.net/2023/03/05/theyre-still-trying-to-ban-cryptography/
But even if the company that provides your backup is impervious to pressure from HMG, Apple isn't. Apple has the absolute, unchallenged power to decide which apps are in its App Store. Apple has a long history of nuking privacy-preserving and privacy-enhancing apps from its App Store in response to complaints, even petty ones from rival companies like Meta:
https://www.theverge.com/2022/9/29/23378541/the-og-app-instagram-clone-pulled-from-app-store
If they're going to cave into Zuck's demand to facilitate spying on Instagram users, do we really think they'll resist Kier Starmer's demands to remove Signal â and any other app that stands up to the Snooper's Charter â from the App Store?
It goes without saying that the "bad guys" the UK government claims it wants to target will be able to communicate in secret no matter what Apple does here. They can just use an Android phone and sideload a secure messaging app, or register an iPhone in Ireland or any other country and bring it to the UK. The only people who will be harmed by the combination of the British government's reckless disregard for security, and Apple's designs that trade the security of its users for the security of its shareholders are millions of law-abiding Britons, whose most sensitive data will be up for grabs by anyone who hacks their accounts.

Tbh i feel like nfts really exposed the absurdity of IP or copyright being applied to the net, like it's just a complete blind spot of how computers and well the net works which is just wireless communication of data be it text, image, video, code, or programs that can be copied endlessly or at least long enough where the average person doesn't have to worry about it, like people can add as many protections as they want but they can all be circumvented with (in nfts case) a simple right click and save as and u got a copy of that image in general media, tools to crack copy protection in terms of software DRM have been around for years (of course some is harder than others but people have done that in the past, so i don't see how someone couldn't in the present with enough know how or time) it's like people taking a old tool to a completely new situation that it just won't work completely or in the ways people want.
100% agreed like. I've said it a couple times before, trying to enforce copyright in a digital environment where things can be endlessly replicated and copied with no physical production cost is essentially trying to artifically impose scarcity in an environment where by definition it can't exist. NFTs were the most blatant attempt at it (i.e. not even trying to pretend that they were anything but an attempt to create artificial scarcity) and they were rightfully mocked to hell and back for it. I just wish people were able to extrapolate the same contempt to other forms of attempted digital landlordism.

The Dow is on track for its worst April since 1932âthe bleakest year of the Great Depression. Nearly a century later, markets are once again facing economic turbulence on a historic scale.
Trump's approval rating drops to 42%, the lowest it's been since he became president, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll.
A cutting-edge microscope at Harvard Medical School could pave the way for major breakthroughs in cancer detection and aging researchâbut its progress is now at risk. The scientist who created the software to analyze its images, 30-year-old Russian-born Kseniia Petrova, has been held in immigration detention for two months. Arrested in February at a Boston airport, Petrova is now detained in Louisiana, facing possible deportation to Russia, where she says she fears imprisonment for protesting the war in Ukraine. Her case highlights the tension between immigration policy and the U.S.'s reliance on global scientific talent.
The Department of Homeland Security denied Mahmoud Khalil permission to be present for the birth of his first child, which took place Monday at a hospital in New York. Instead, Khalil had to experience the moment over the phone from Jena, Louisianaâmore than 1,000 miles away from his wife, Dr. Noor Abdalla, who delivered their baby boy. The case has sparked criticism over DHS's handling of family and humanitarian considerations.
The White House is considering policies to encourage more Americans to marry and have children, including a potential $5,000 âbaby bonus,â according to The New York Times. The proposals align with a broader conservative push to address falling birth rates and promote traditional family values. Other ideas on the table include reserving 30% of Fulbright scholarships for applicants who are married or have children, and funding educational programs that teach women about fertility and ovulation.
A group of Venezuelan migrants facing removal under a broad wartime authority challenged the Trump administrationâs deportation process at the Supreme Court, arguing the notices they received donât meet legal standards. The ACLU, representing the migrants, said the English-only noticesâoften given less than 24 hours before deportationâviolate a recent Supreme Court ruling requiring enough time for individuals to seek habeas review.
The Education Department announced it will start collecting student loan payments from over 5 million borrowers who are in default. This means it will begin taking money from federal wages, Social Security checks, and tax refunds. This move comes as pandemic-era protections for student loan borrowers continue to wind down.
Tensions are rising within the Arizona Democratic Party as the state party chair is at odds with the governor and U.S. senators. In response, officials are considering shifting 2026 campaign funds to local county Democrats.
âThe U.S. Department of Commerce has announced substantial tariffs on solar panel imports from four Southeast Asian countriesâCambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, and Malaysiaâfollowing a year-long investigation into alleged trade violations by Chinese-owned manufacturers operating in these nations. The tariffs, which vary by country and company, are as follows:â
Cambodia: Facing the steepest duties, with tariffs reaching up to 3,521%, due to non-cooperation with the investigation.
Vietnam: Companies may face duties up to 395.9%.â
Thailand: Tariffs could be as high as 375.2%.â
Malaysia: Duties are set at 34.4%.â
Senator Adam Schiff is urging the National Archives to investigate the Trump administration's use of Signal and similar messaging apps. He emphasized the need for NARA to reach out to every federal agency involved to make sure all relevant records are preserved. This comes amid growing concerns over transparency and potential violations of federal recordkeeping laws.

1. Wyoming's abortion ban has been overturned, including its ban on abortion medication
âWyoming is the second state to have its near-total abortion ban overturned this month[âŠ. Seven other states] also approved amendments protecting the right to an abortion. A lawsuit seeking to challenge the [FDA]âs approval of abortion medication recently failed when the Supreme Court refused to hear it[âŠ.]â
2. Patches of wildflowers in cities can be just as good for insects as natural meadows â study
âThis study confirmed that small areas of urban wildflowers have a high concentration of pollinating insects, and are as valuable to many pollinators as larger areas of natural meadow that you would typically find rurally.â
3. Paris could offer new parents anti-pollution baby 'gift bags' to combat 'forever chemicals'
âThe bag includes a stainless steel baby cup, a wooden toy, reusable cotton wipes, and non-toxic cleaning supplies as part of a "green prescription". [âŠ] The city will also have 44 centres for protecting mothers and infants that will be without any pollutants[âŠ.]â
4. Indigenous guardians embark on a sacred pact to protect the lowland tapir in Colombia

âThe tapir is now the focus of an Indigenous-led conservation project[⊠A proposed âbiocultural corridorâ] will protect not only the populations and movements of wildlife such as tapirs, but also the cultural traditions and spirituality of the Inga and other neighboring Indigenous peoples[âŠ.]â
5. Denmark will plant 1 billion trees and convert 10% of farmland into forest
â[âŠ] 43 billion kroner ($6.1 billion) have been earmarked to acquire land from farmers over the next two decades[.⊠In addition,] livestock farmers will be taxed for the greenhouse gases emitted by their cows, sheep and pigs from 2030, the first country to do so[âŠ.]â
6. The biggest grid storage project using old batteries is online in Texas
â[Element operates âused EV battery packsâ with software that can] fine-tune commands at the cell level, instead of treating all the batteries as a monolithic whole. This enables the system to get more use out of each cell without stressing any so much that they break down[âŠ.]ââ
7. Durable supramolecular plastic is fully ocean-degradable and doesn't generate microplastics
âThe new material is as strong as conventional plastics and biodegradable, [⊠and] is therefore expected to help reduce harmful microplastic pollution that accumulates in oceans and soil and eventually enters the food chain.â
8. Big Oil Tax Could Boost Global Loss and Damage Fund by 2000%
â[⊠A] tax on fossil fuel extraction, which would increase each year, combined with additional taxes on excess profits would [âŠ] generate hundreds of billions of dollars by the end of the decade to assist poor and vulnerable communities with the impact of the climate crisis[âŠ.]â
9. Rooftop solar meets 107.5 pct of South Australiaâs demand, no emergency measures needed
â[T]he state was able to export around 658 MW of capacity to Victoria at the time[âŠ.] The export capacity is expected to increase significantly as the new transmission link to NSW[âŠ] should be able to allow an extra 150 MW to be transferred in either direction by Christmas.â
10. Light-altering paint for greenhouses could help lengthen the fruit growing season in less sunny countries
â[Scientists] have developed a spray coating for greenhouses that could help UK farmers to produce more crops in the future using the same or less energy[⊠by optimising] the wavelength of light shining onto the plants, improving their growth and yield.â

Good news for my same sex attracted sisters.
Lesbian dating app to use facial recognition to exclude trans women from matching with biological females
By SANCHEZ MANNING and SUE REID
PUBLISHED:Â 19:03 EDT, 1 June 2024Â
The first dating app for lesbians is set to launch â using sex-recognition technology to exclude trans women and ensure only biological females can sign up.
It is the brainchild of feminist campaigner Jenny Watson, who says there are currently no dating apps which cater purely for women who want same-sex relationships.
The current crop of dating apps, she says, are increasingly being used by males who identify as female and who say they too are lesbian.
L'App will use facial recognition technology to verify a person as a biological female.
Ms Watson said would-be users will have to go through a process when they sign up where the app scans their face via their smartphone.
It is the brainchild of feminist campaigner Jenny Watson (pictured), who says there are currently no dating apps which cater purely for women who want same-sex relationships
The software, which Ms Watson claims is 99 per cent accurate, analyses features including bone structure, the shape and positioning of an individual's eyes, eyebrows and nose shape or size. It will also be able to detect if a person is presenting a live image rather than just putting a photo of a woman up to the camera by detecting movement, blinking motions and heat emissions.
Tests have revealed that if someone tries to disguise themselves as a woman by putting on a wig or make-up, the technology will spot the deception.
Ms Watson, 32, a town planner, told The Mail on Sunday: 'There is no female-only dating apps at the moment. Lesbians need an app which they can use without being messaged by trans-identifying males.'
She said L'App had also been developed in response to many lesbians finding that they were being banned from existing apps if they dared to specify that they wanted to date only natal females. Speaking about her own personal experience, she said: 'Any time I've joined a lesbian dating app or any other dating app myself, I get banned.
'To avoid trans-identified males, I will always write a little blurb, nothing disrespectful, saying my preference is for women and please respect my boundaries.
'And every time I do that I get banned. On one app I was asked to put down my most controversial opinion, so I wrote that J. K. Rowling was right and was banned for that. It's insane.'
Ms Watson has previously campaigned to protect lesbian spaces, by hosting female-only speed dating nights. She plans to open UK's first single-sex lesbian bar.
She has been criticised as transphobic for excluding transgender women â which she rejects. Her launch comes as a court case is being heard in Australia over whether a trans woman can be lawfully excluded from a female-only social networking app called Giggle.

Trolls Used Her Face to Make Fake Porn. There Was Nothing She Could Do.
Sabrina Javellana was a rising star in local politics â until deepfakes derailed her life.
https://www.nytimes.com/2024/07/31/magazine/sabrina-javellana-florida-politics-ai-porn.html
Most mornings, before walking into City Hall in Hallandale Beach, Fla., a small city north of Miami, Sabrina Javellana would sit in the parking lot and monitor her Twitter and Instagram accounts. After winning a seat on the Hallandale Beach city commission in 2018, at age 21, she became one of the youngest elected officials in Floridaâs history. Her progressive political positions had sometimes earned her enemies: After proposing a name change for a state thoroughfare called Dixie Highway in late 2019, she regularly received vitriolic and violent threats on social media; her condemnation of police brutality and calls for criminal-justice reform prompted aggressive rhetoric from members of local law enforcement. Disturbing messages were nothing new to her.
The morning of Feb. 5, 2021, though, she noticed an unusual one. âHi, just wanted to let you know that somebody is sharing pictures of you online and discussing you in quite a grotesque manner,â it began. âHe claims that heâs one of your âguy friends.ââ
Javellana froze. Who could have sent this message? She asked for evidence, and the sender responded with pixelated screenshots of a forum thread that included photos of her. There were comments that mentioned her political career. Had her work drawn these peopleâs ire? Eventually, with a friendâs help, she found a set of archived pages from the notorious forum site 4chan. Most of the images were pulled from her social media and annotated with obscene, misogynistic remarks: ânot thicc enoughâ; âI would breed herâ; âno sane person would date such a stupid creature.â But one image further down the thread stopped her short. She was standing in front of a full-length mirror with her head tilted to the side, smiling playfully. She had posted an almost identical selfie, in which she wore a brown crew-neck top and matching skirt, to her Instagram account back in 2015. âIt was the exact same picture,â Javellana said of the doctored image. âBut I wasnât wearing any clothes.â
There were several more. These were deepfakes: A.I.-generated images that manipulate a personâs likeness, fusing it with others to create a false picture or video, sometimes pornographic, in a way that looks authentic. Although fake explicit material has existed for decades thanks to image-editing software, deepfakes stand out for their striking believability. Even Javellana was shaken by their apparent authenticity.
âI didnât know that this was something that happened to everyday people,â Javellana told me when I visited her earlier this year in Florida. She wondered if anyone else had seen the photos or the abusive comments online. Several of the threads even implied that people on the forum knew her. âI live in Broward County,â one comment read. âShe just graduated from FIU.â Other users threatened sexual violence. In the days that followed, Javellana became increasingly fearful and paranoid. She stopped walking alone at night and started triple-checking that her doors and windows were locked before she slept. In an effort to protect her personal life, she made her Instagram private and removed photographs of herself in a bathing suit.
Discovering the images changed how Javellana operated professionally. Attending press events was part of her job, but now she felt anxious every time someone lifted their camera. She worried that public images of her would be turned into pornography, so she covered as much of her body as she could, favoring high-cut blouses and blazers. She knew she wasnât acting rationally â people could create new deepfakes regardless of how much skin she showed in the real world â but changing her style made her feel a sense of control. If the deepfakes went viral, no one could look at how she dressed and think that she had invited this harassment.

Some thoughts on Cara
So some of you may have heard about Cara, the new platform that a lot of artists are trying out. It's been around for a while, but there's been a recent huge surge of new users, myself among them. Thought I'd type up a lil thing on my initial thoughts.
First, what is Cara?
From their About Cara page:
Cara is a social media and portfolio platform for artists. With the widespread use of generative AI, we decided to build a place that filters out generative AI images so that people who want to find authentic creatives and artwork can do so easily. Many platforms currently accept AI art when itâs not ethical, while others have promised âno AI foreverâ policies without consideration for the scenario where adoption of such technologies may happen at the workplace in the coming years. The future of creative industries requires nuanced understanding and support to help artists and companies connect and work together. We want to bridge the gap and build a platform that we would enjoy using as creatives ourselves. Our stance on AI: ă»We do not agree with generative AI tools in their current unethical form, and we wonât host AI-generated portfolios unless the rampant ethical and data privacy issues around datasets are resolved via regulation. ă»In the event that legislation is passed to clearly protect artists, we believe that AI-generated content should always be clearly labeled, because the public should always be able to search for human-made art and media easily.
Should note that Cara is independently funded, and is made by a core group of artists and engineers and is even collaborating with the Glaze project. It's very much a platform by artists, for artists!
Should also mention that in being a platform for artists, it's more a gallery first, with social media functionalities on the side. The info below will hopefully explain how that works.
Next, my actual initial thoughts using it, and things that set it apart from other platforms I've used:
1) When you post, you can choose to check the portfolio option, or to NOT check it. This is fantastic because it means I can have just my art organized in my gallery, but I can still post random stuff like photos of my cats and it won't clutter things. You can also just ramble/text post and it won't affect the gallery view!
2) You can adjust your crop preview for your images. Such a simple thing, yet so darn nice.
3) When you check that "Add to portfolio," you get a bunch of additional optional fields: Title, Field/Medium, Project Type, Category Tags, and Software Used. It's nice that you can put all this info into organized fields that don't take up text space.
4) Speaking of text, 5000 character limit is niiiiice. If you want to talk, you can.
5) Two separate feeds, a "For You" algorithmic one, and "Following." The "Following" actually appears to be full chronological timeline of just folks you follow (like Tumblr). Amazing.
6) Now usually, "For You" being set to home/default kinda pisses me off because generally I like curating my own experience, but not here, for this handy reason: if you tap the gear symbol, you can ADJUST your algorithm feed!
So you can choose what you see still!!! AMAZING. And, again, you still have your Following timeline too.
7) To repeat the stuff at the top of this post, its creation and intent as a place by artists, for artists. Hopefully you can also see from the points above that it's been designed with artists in mind.
8) No GenAI images!!!! There's a pop up that says it's not allowed, and apparently there's some sort of detector thing too. Not sure how reliable the latter is, but so far, it's just been a breath of fresh air, being able to scroll and see human art art and art!
To be clear, Cara's not perfect and is currently pretty laggy, and you can get errors while posting (so far, I've had more success on desktop than the mobile app), but that's understandable, given the small team. They'll need time to scale. For me though, it's a fair tradeoff for a platform that actually cares about artists.
Currently it also doesn't allow NSFW, not sure if that'll change given app store rules.
As mentioned above, they're independently funded, which means the team is currently paying for Cara itself. They have a kofi set up for folks who want to chip in, but it's optional. Here's the link to the tweet from one of the founders:

And a reminder that no matter that the platform itself isn't selling our data to GenAI, it can still be scraped by third parties. Protect your work with Glaze and Nightshade!
Anyway, I'm still figuring stuff out and have only been on Cara a few days, but I feel hopeful, and I think they're off to a good start.
I hope this post has been informative!
Lastly, here's my own Cara if you want to come say hi! Not sure at all if I'll be active on there, but if you're an artist like me who is keeping an eye out for hopefully nice communities, check it out!
#YukiPri rambles#cara#cara app#social media#artists on tumblr#review#longpost#long post#mostly i'd already typed this up on twitter so i figured why not share it here too#also since tumblr too is selling our data to GenAI

GUYS LOOK AT THIS LEAK I FOUND OF DONALD!!

OMG ITS DONALD FERGUSONS BLUEPRINT AND ITS EXACTLY HOW I WOULD HAVE IMAGINED HIS ENDOSKELETON TO LOOK LIKE!!
...
.....
kidding.
i made it lol :p
So I made this blueprint because one, I am obsessed with cyborg dudes and two I have no life and got bored lmao. I did do a lot of research on cybernetics and hope I got it as accurate as I could. So without further ado...
Let me give a tour of Donald's blueprint!
..............................................................................................................
Latch- Located on top of Donald's metal head which can be opened via key insertion and is safely guarded by Cecil Stedman who only knows its location.
Imaging Process Software- Built inside Donald's eyes which allows him to see and process what he is visualizing it also allows him to imagine things much more accurately than the average human
Scent Processors or Sensors- built inside Donaldâs nose which allows him to smell and process scents, unfortunately, it's not as advanced as his visual processors so he actually smells things with less accuracy than he did before he died, though he doesn't notice this as often.
Ultrasonic Processors or Receivers/Emitters- Built inside Donald's ear canals which allow him to ear and process sounds at a much higher frequency than the average human
Diagnostic CPU or Chip and the Insertion Port- a cylindrical hole located on top of Donald's forehead which is where the CPU (Central Process Unit) chip is used to diagnose any minor malfunctions and auto-corrects it. If any malfunction is too severe (such as limb amputations) it would require manual repairs to be fixed. However, the reason why Cecil is keeping this diagnostic chip from Donald is because if inserted, it would revive all of the previous lost memories since the DC identifies them as errors to be corrected. There is a key that can be also inserted in the port on his head which opens the latch that reveals his brain. When he dies they must quickly remove his brain which is protected by a thin layer of gelatin in his metal head. It is also connected to metal segments magnified to the outer layer of his brain which can be easily detached without any repercussions. when they detach his brain they must quickly preserve it in a preservation tank before it starts to decompose. (essentially he is a brain in a jar lmao.) And yes, this is the same preservation tank as the one they used for Robot/Rudy Connors in the comics.
Optical Sensors- Located in his bionic eyes, they give off the illusion of human eyes accurately they also allow Donald to differentiate between light variations they can also allow him to see in infrared and give him night vision...but he doesn't know this yet...hehe
Eye Subsystem are motors that allow Donald to express emotions and are composed of his eyebrows, eyelids, and of course, eyes. Now given his nature he very rarely ever emotes but the subsystem is very accurate nonetheless. There are two buttons located on his eye subsystem which are called trigger buttons. When both are activated it will open up his face plate to reveal his metal skull. This allows the mechanics to repair him much faster and efficiently, unfortunately, they can be triggered easily so if he gets punched in the face or sleeps in a weird position it's likely he will accidentally trigger them which can end up in an uncomfortable situation.
Mouth Subsystem- these are motors that are composed of his mouth parts such as his lips, teeth, gums, tongue, and vocal folds. Much like with his eye subsystem, they allow him to express himself and communicate with others.
Bionic Eye and Eye Mechanisms- These are mechanisms that allow Donald to see and express himself.
Silicone Skin Outer Surface- This is Donald's fake skin which is composed of silicone accurately replacing human flesh. hair follicles can also be inserted in Donaldâs skin to allude to organic body hair. unfortunately, his artificial skin cannot regenerate on its own and requires manual repairs
Microphone Sensor/Ear Detection EM Waves- This allows Donald to hear sounds that average humans cannot hear (Electromagnetic sound waves) This is done by converting em sound waves to audible sounds. It also allows him to communicate through other devices by sending audible signals
Artificial Teeth- This mimics the function of human teeth and is composed of acrylic resin they are much more durable and sturdy allowing them to decompose slower over time if used too much.
Linear Motion Mechanism- This allows Donald to move his neck up and down and convert from rotational or horizontal movement to vertical
Audible Larynx- This allows Donald to allow air to move through the passageway and also allows him to vocalize sound or talk. This artificial larynx also prevents his voice from sounding robotic or augmented, if damaged, his voice will come off as robotic.
Linear DC Servo Neck Motor- This allows Donald to rotate his neck in many positions
Artificial Nervous System- (ANS) mimics the biological function of the human nervous system which is composed of neuroreceptors, nerve stimulators, nerve receptors, and neuron circuitry allowing Donald to react to stimuli similar to how he used to before he died.
Power Core Energy Conductor- Even though Donald's brain is his body's main source of power, he still requires a source to conduct energy or electricity through his body especially when he's on low power. His body, just like most humans, requires "charge" to restore energy but he relies on an external source other than sleep which is a charging station. If his Power core is damaged it will result in an automatic shutdown. His power core is essentially his actual heart.
Hip Joint Motor- This is a motor that acts as an artificial hip and allows Donald to move in all positional possible by humans by all axes
Rotary Arm Joints- These joints allow Donald to move his arms in several positions
Artificial Internal Digestive Unit- This is an artificial digestive system that mimics most of the function of organic digestive systems though is not advanced enough to replicate the silhouette. It also digests the nutrient intake Donald consumes and transports the nutrients to his brain to absorb.
Artificial Pelvic Region- This acts as an artificial pelvis and even mimics Donaldâs original silhouette
Hydraulic Hand Actuators- This allows Donald to move his hands via using pressurized liquid (oil) however this can result in janky movement sometimes though before he found out about his robotic nature he assumed that he was developing arthritis (which is reasonable considering he's in his 50s)
Artificial Rectum- Um...do i really need to explain this? Ok..well as the term implies this allows him to go to the bathroom but he doesn't really need to it just mimics human bodily function to avoid suspicion what's interesting is that the contents that he consumes, especially liquids are only dyed to appear like urine but because he doesn't have actual blood they can't break down the contents ad hey cant be filtered to his kidneys because..well he doesn't have any. So the mechanisms in his rectum and digestive system dye the content he consumes kind of like some kind of chemical lab process in his body just to make an illusion that he can relieve himself. however, he doesn't really need to eat or to drink.
Tactile and Biosensors- This allows Donald to feel sensations in his fingers and through his body albeit not as efficiently as before he died.
Neuro Stimulators- These much like his biosensors allow him to receive pain signals through his body via electrical impulses that are connected to his brain and make up his artificial nervous system to mimic the feeling of pain or nerve receptors in humans.
Angular Encoders- These help measure movements in Donald to mov his joints much more precisely which help him move more quickly and accurately esp when fighting
Servo Motor Controls- These are rotary actuators that allow more precise movement in Donald esp when rotating limbs
Titanium Limbs- These are the material that his endoskeleton and body parts are composed of titanium
Rotary Ankle Joints- These allow Donald to move his ankles relative to a how a human moves their ankles via a servo motor
Also here's more versions!!

oooh and heres more!

Here's more label info on his other blueprint-
Artificial Tongue Composed of Rubber- This tongue which is obviously located in his mouth, allows him to speak and eat clearly much like the function of organic tongues in humans. It's composed of resin and dyed rubber.
Remaining Organic Tissue- The remaining organic tissue in Donald is obvi his brain which isolated in his metal skull
Multifilament Muscles- These muscles operate similarly to humans but function at a much more efficient rate, they are also more sturdy and are less likely to tear compared to regular humans. They are composed of silk which is a very strong and elastic material esp strung together like yarn.
Artificial Fat (foam)- The artificial fat as it implies is composed of soft foam similar to humans but slightly off in feeling. Of course, Donald shrugged it off as "getting older" because what other logical reason would explain feeling weird in your own body?
Artificial Lungs (air sacs)- The artificial lungs are air sacs similar to cars and inflate and deflate based on Donald's breathing patterns. They also transport oxygen from outside Donald's body into his brain to produce the required energy to function.
Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO)- The artificial respiratory system it pumps blood from donalds body and adds oxygen and removes carbon dioxide. blood flows from the artificial heart back to the ECMO.
Artificial Titanium Secondary Skeleton- This secondary skeleton only serves as to illude the silhouette and feel of an organic skeleton to prevent any further suspicion.
Internal Cooling System- This system allows Donald's body to regulate temperature much like thermoregulation, it circulates a coolant through channels to absorb heat from an engine or other system. This prevents Donald's systems from overheating and causing short-circuitry and other malfunctions from occurring. However, if damaged or exposed to extremely high temperatures, his system will start to overheat and he will start to malfunction.
Artificial Heart- This acts as an actual heart and functions by keeping the artificial blood flowing through Donald's body.
Wires Underneath Skin- The wires underneath Donald's body are used to send electrical signals to his body and prevent them from affecting his body. They also are used to transmit information from the brain to the body such as electrodes.
Artificial Blood- This functions like human blood, it can be able to circulate energy and information through the body. It also transmits oxygen and carbon dioxide to and from the body. However, Donald cannot produce blood on his own and doesn't require as much as most humans. It's mostly meant for the show to convince him and others he's human.
Artificial Urinary System- As the term implies it acts as an organic urinary system and automatically assists in preventing involuntary "urine" leakage. He has an artificial bladder that stores the "urine" which is really just dyed liquid as his body can no longer abide by the three-step process of producing urine such as filtration, reabsorption, and secretion. Though, the bladder functions as any human bladder and when it is filled up it will release the urine through the urethra and outside the body. The purpose is to convert nutrients into energy which the remaining nutrients will be spread to the blood and brain.
Artificial Reproductive System- As the term implies the reproductive system acts as an organic human reproductive system which consists of...um...you know what? Let's skip this one. I really really don't want to have to explain this tbh. (even though I put it here.)
Wired Circulatory System- This consists of wires and circuitry that acts as a network of vessels that circulate Donald's artificial blood throughout his body whilst delivering oxygen to his brain cells. It also delivers electrical signals or information to his body when he feels pain.
Gastric Pump as Artificial Digestive System- This consists of synthetic tubes that can expand and contract like actual intestines that way contents can pass through with little struggle. on the outside of the intestines is which is made from silicon and rubber and can mimic how oxygen passes through the gut and can even stimulate the ability to vomit. He also contains an esophagus made from rubber which allows many foods to pass through. He does have taste in his artificial tongue however it's not as efficient as his old one. When food passes through his digestive tract acidic enzymes break it down into small chunks and are squeezed through this molding system where it dyes and transforms the content into a "stool" or "urine" kind of like playdough factory toys. (don't worry it's not as gross as it sounds)Â
Bionic Eyes- the function by converting images from built-in cameras connected to the brain and siding electric signals that stimulate the brain which interprets it as an image.
Image Processing and Tracking Software- These allow Donald to manipulate and analyze data as images but also track where certain subjects move with high precision. Enhancing his mental images and giving him a "keen" eye.
Artificial Regenerative Hair Follicles- these are made from synthetic material that can expand in very thin strings to give the illusion that they can grow. They often increase in length when exposed to high temperatures. So basically Donald can cut his hair but it can't grow very long. his nails are made from the same materials
Backup Charging Port- located on Donaldâs neck, this charging port is mainly for emergencies just in case if his chest charging port is malfunctioning. It is located above his power trigger buttons which can result in a shutdown if activated or stimulated by high stress levels.
Titanium Spine - This is located on Donald's back and is composed of titanium which is very difficult to crush...unless you're a pure-blood viltrumite.Â
Oh, and another thing, although Da Sinclair didnât make Donaldâs 39th endoskeleton, he was asked to revise some parts by the old man himself, Cecil Stedman. The reason being that Cecil wanted to make Donald much stronger than last time replacing actuators and adding more multifilients in certain places. He did it out of care but also knowing the questionably ethical methods he must take in order to keep Donald alive.

Corporate!Kyle âGazâ Garrick needs help
his computer keeps crashing every few days, but the poor man sends a request to the IT department hoping that itâs the new pretty bird who started a month ago helps him.
he had taken up a business idea with his old military captain and buddies, something in manufacturing or whatnot. he was part of the financial department so all he had to worry about was numbers.
the gorgeous IT tech became a constant image on his mind when he almost wiped a financial report once and panicked on how to get it back. that was all it took, an urgent request, a quick look and five minute conversation for gaz to fall head over heels for you.
whenever you came over to help, he always apologized with every excuse in the book: his computer is getting older (no it isnt), he thought the software protection was up to date (no it wasnt), or he didnât know that link would download a virus (yes he did).
he was so clever, using his laptop as an excuse for you to come to him to chat about your day. slowly prying you open about your life. how you love going to the local aquarium with your nieces and nephews, or how your favorite chinese restaurant is a hole in the wall on 5th street.
âso kyle, are you ever going to put your computer out of its misery?â
ok maybe he wasnât so clever.
âwhatâd you mean, birdie?â trying to keep his smile teetering from cheeky to nervous.
âkyle, your computer conveniently crashes every other week but never during payroll?â
âI told you before love, itâs an old laptop, grinding its way through, trying its bestââ
âwe can track everyoneâs cursor patterns based on the wifi you connect to here.â
well fuck, does that meanâ
âhow long âave you known?â he squinted at you with an exasperated smile.
âthe whole timeâ you gave him a second to breathe before continuing. âyour laptop is about to crash indefinitely if you donât stop clicking on every virus you seeâ
he was stunned, utterly gaping like a fish.
âiâll see you after work to get a drink, gazâ
oh you cheeky little thing.

Dove (part seven)
Leon Kennedy x female reader (bodyguard trope and the slowest, slow burn I swear)
Part one. Part two. Part three. Part four. Part five. Part six. Part seven.
---
A tense knot has formed right between Leonâs shoulder blades â can feel it pull when he tilts his head side to side, but it doesnât seem to be loosening. Canât even blame it on sleeping on the sofa cos he hasnât laid down to sleep since the call with Hunnigan, stays sat up right. Heâs athletic, he can jump up to his feet from horizontal but itâll add a second or so to his reaction time and heâs not taking the risk.
He's on edge and he doesnât like it. The ball of anxiety in his gut has saved his life more times than he can count, but it shouldnât be necessary in this situation, should it? Heâs set up in a safe house, literally off some beaten track in the middle of nowhere â location chosen and distributed by encrypted software so, technically, no-one in the DSO knows where he is either. Itâs rigged up to the heavens with security measures - cameras, alarm systems, motion detector - explosion-proof windows, reinforced doors, all topped off with his favourite array of weapons in the duffel bag, currently resting by his still booted feet.
The objective of his mission hasnât changed after the intel heâs received, that some foreign agency has had access to the CCTV feed for who knows how many hours before they were cut off. He should feel reassured that the quality of the footage was awful â it was only by how many times heâs encountered Lickers that he could even tell thatâs what the creatures were when heâd be presented with the grainy images. He didnât see the footage of you being rescued, but it would be a cruel kick in the gut to find that feed had been HD.
He lifts an arm â his left, keeping his right arm free, his accuracy is better by millimetres with his right â and rubs the knot, hoping to relieve the tension. It's not 100% confirmed they are looking or will be looking for you either, but why would anyone link up to the CCTV circuit if not to check on the outcome of their operation?
His immediate thought had been to up the frequency of his perimeter checks, one every two hours. He could do that at night, sure â military training taught him the correct and most efficient techniques to power nap â but in the day it would be harder without worrying you about whatâs changed.
You wanted updates. Hell, you were entitled to updates. But he wants to give you good news, doesnât wanna add to the weight on your shoulders with what could be nothing. Itâs stupid, he knows itâs stupid, but in these sweet domestic moments the two of you have been sharing, heâs been pretending itâs something else â friends watching television, cooking a meal together â the sweet smiles the two of you exchange, but itâs all ripped apart the moment he has to do his checks. He can see the worry settle on your face then, a reminder of where you are with the flick of the safety off his gun and the twist of the lock as he goes outside to conduct surveillance.
Speaking of, his phone beeps for his next circuit on the building and heâs up on his feet in the blink of an eye. He pats his cargo pocket out of habit for the keys on the walk over to the garage door, but finds himself pausing outside your bedroom, his eyes focusing on the handle. You should still be pretty under with those sleeping pills â note to self, heâll need to start weening you off them from now on, far too easy to get addicted. It wouldnât hurt to just⊠check you were okay, would it?
No â thatâs what youâre here, why heâs here â to protect you.
It would just be doing his job.
He presses down on the handle and slowly opens the door, breath caught in his throat. It takes his eyes a moment to adjust to the dark, the lamp in the living room not quite reaching as far as your bed, but eventually he can make out your face â as peaceful as heâs ever seen it.
Youâre on your side. The position doesnât look like it would be comfortable with your arm still strapped up in the sling, but itâs testimony to how well the sleeping pills are working. Your other arm is up by your face, hand clenched in a tight fist around something. He steps forward without thinking, curious what it could be.
Your fingers are gripped tightly around his watch.
And thereâs a pain in his chest that feels like theyâre gripped around his heart as well.
That settles it - heâs not gonna tell you about the hacked CCTV feed. He will tell you that Hunnigan hasnât searched your place yet, that theyâve restarted the surveillance department â sheâd asked him to ask you if you knew anything about the servers since they were appeared to be working from square one â but that was it.
Leon steps back with unnecessary caution, leaving the bedroom as silently as he entered and shuts the door with a soft click. He takes a deep breath, pats down his pockets again and heads out to circle the perimeter.
And, just like after you kissed his cheek, he does it twice.
--
You wake up after another peaceful and dreamless sleep, though it still takes a moment to remember where you are as you stare up at the unfamiliar ceiling. You wonder if tomorrow youâll not experience that flicker of panic, just get up and accept that youâll be picking todayâs outfit out of a selection of clothes that youâre not sure if anyoneâs worn before you.
You feel sore, as seems to be becoming the norm, but with unusually stiff fingers on your good hand. It seems youâve clutched Leonâs watch all night. Youâd fallen asleep quite quickly â all thanks to those sleeping pills â but you remember looking at it when youâd first got in the bed, the seconds ticking by lulling you to sleep. The fact that youâve held it for so long reminds you of when you were a kid and snuggled up with a stuffed toy for comfort, except instead of something soft and cuddly, itâs what appears to be a top of line timepiece. Thereâs a lot of information contained on the face of the dial but thereâs the time is the only one you really care about â 0906.
You get to your feet, raising your good arm to a grunt of protest as you try and run your fingers through your hair in lieu of a mirror. Huh, that painâs new. Your hair is definitely due a wash now, but thatâs an issue for later. You pull on a pair of sweatpants one-handed â youâll be a pro soon, youâre sure of it â and put Leonâs watch in the pocket for safekeeping. Itâd be difficult to try and navigate the door handle with it still gripped in your good hand and youâd hate to scratch it up.
You open the door cautiously â you hadnât seen Leon asleep yet, but he must do at some point. Maybe you should offer to alternate the sofa and the bed? Though you have a feeling that heâs far too much of a gentleman to accept.
Or thereâll be something in the rules that prohibits that.
Thereâs no danger of waking him though - the agent in question is performing sit-ups in the middle of the living room floor, facing the other way. Muscular arms behind his head as he lets out little puffs of exertion at the exercise, alternating sides as he twists.
Wary that you donât want to be caught staring, you shut the door with more force than necessary behind you and greet him with a smile when he looks over his shoulder.
âMorning, Leon.â
âDove!â He doesnât even sound out of breath. âMorning. Sleep okay?â He jumps up to his feet before taking a couple of steps over in your direction. Thereâs a grin on his face at the sight of you â makes you feel giddy.
âYeah, thanks. How about you?â
âThatâs good. Yeah, I slept fine.â He nods. Itâs not a lie â he did sleep fine for the position he forced himself to maintain all night, despite the slight crick in his neck.
âIs that how you usually start your mornings?â
One of the arms youâd been admiring goes up to rub the back of his head again. âKinda. I usually go for a run, butâŠâ
âBut you canât leave me on my own.â You finish, smile dropping a little. âSorry.â
âDonât be - Iâm not.â He drops his arm back down, casting an eye over a watch thatâs not there. âHey, you hungry? I can get breakfast started. Oatmeal again?â
âSure.â You nod, fishing his watch out of your pocket and holding it out to him. âThanks again for this. It was nice to wake up and know the time this morning.â
âDonât mention it. You can, er, you know, keep it. If you like.â He canât get the image of you fast asleep last night, clutching it close to your face. He knows it was most likely the sleeping pills meaning youâd just passed out with it in your hand more than anything deeper, but, hey, a guy can pretend.
âIâll be okay, I can get the time off the TV during the day.â You hold it out again with insistence. âBut maybe⊠maybe I could have it for the night again?â
âDeal.â Leon hastily agrees, his fingers brushing yours as he takes back the watch before fastening it around his wrist. âBreakfast coming right up.â
You take the opportunity to duck into the bathroom as he heads towards the kitchen â your heart warmed once more by the sight of the blob of toothpaste sat ready and waiting on your toothbrush.
--
âAnd, finally, oatmeal.â He places it down on the coffee table, alongside your coffee, a glass of water and your morning dose of painkillers.
âThank you.â You lean forward to pick up the spoon, smiling back at the face that Leonâs drizzled in honey atop your breakfast again. Â
âNah, pleasureâs all mine.â He calls over his shoulder as he picks up his own bowl from the kitchen. He hesitates for a second, before choosing to sit the other end of the sofa to you, rather than the opposite one.
âYou know, I donât get to do this very often. Itâs nice.â
âMm,â you swallow a spoonful of oatmeal. âThought you said youâd been in lots of safe houses.â
âA fair amount. But, no, not that part. I mean, eating breakfast with someone.â âSoâŠâ You stir the spoon around the bowl, hoping it might prove a perfect segway into something youâd been wondering. â..thereâs no-one at home for you?â
âMe?â He seems to scoff at the idea. âNope.â
âMe neither.â
âYeah, I figured.â He replies casually, before his blue eyes widen in alarm at how it might come across. â
âI mean, just by the fact that you hadnât mentioned anyone at your apartment that morning and you hadnât asked any of those sorta questions, you know, if theyâd been told about what happened, where you are...â
Heâs flustered, feels like heâs really putting his foot in his mouth this morning. He can take the lead in the interrogation of some of the worldâs most despicable humans, for goodnessâ sake, he should be able to talk to a pretty girl.
âYeah, I figured.â You tease back and he swears he feels the weight lift off his shoulders.
The two of you eat in silence for a moment when curiosity gets the better of you. âSo, you didnât eat breakfast with the⊠others?â
âNope.â His tone is firm as he recalls some of his previous charges. âCertainly didnât make them it either. Trust me â they were nowhere near as nice or as deserving of my protection as you are, Dove.â The comment makes your head tingle.
âItâs all been people ârealisingâ how deep theyâd sank but only grew a conscience to save their own skin. Hell, you might have even performed surveillance on some of them. A lot of criminals finally show backbone when they realise their time is running out.â
âWell, Iâm glad to make a change â both for sharing breakfast and âŠsafe house occupancy with.â
âA nice change,â he mumbles, but you still hear.
--
After breakfast, you go to shower and Leon sets himself to task with the dishes once again, says he did his last perimeter check before nine. Removing the sling proves trickier than yesterday â when you go to tug off the Velcro your opposite shoulder smarts with a similar pain of that morning, causing you to hiss through your teeth, something which the painkillers from breakfast donât seem to have alleviated.
You step into the cubicle after undressing â the hot water immediately somewhat soothing on your bruised shoulders but you still struggle to get what you now deem as your good arm high enough to even entertain the possibility of washing your hair. Â
You try and avoid your reflection in the mirror when you dress, though you know youâll have to confront your hair at some point. Unfortunately, you catch a glimpse â a greasy mop sat upon your head that makes your heart sink.
There must be a trick to it â other people must wash their hair one-handed all the time, but maybe they can lift an arm above their head. If you were home, youâd go to a salon, you think â an expensive you would deem necessary for your sanity.
A thought flashes across your mind â a ridiculous one. Leon is already doing so much for you, surely this would be completely over the line.
But you could⊠ask, couldnât you? The worst he could do was say no, it would be awkward, and maybe thereâs a hat in the duffel bag youâve yet to discover.
You open the bathroom door, but donât make to step over the threshold. Leon looks over from the sofa â dishes now drying in the rack besides the sink - and clocks your hesitation.
âNeed a hand with the sling?â
Are you really going to ask him this?
Youâll break at some point - you know you will, so why not get it over with now? Youâre a regimented two-day wash kinda girl and itâs day three. Not to be completely vain, but youâre covered with bruises and cuts, dressed in less than flattering clothes that arenât yours and it would be nice to feel somewhat decent about something in your appearance.
Especially with the handsome company youâre keeping. Hell, Leon could be a model, a hair model too. Thereâd been shampoo and conditioner in the shower and you certainly hadnât used it.
âDove?â Youâve taken too long to reply again, getting stuck in your spiralling thoughts.
âI know this isnât what youâre here for.â The words tumble out of your mouth before you can think further.
âOkayâŠâ Leon's eyebrow is raised, a curious smile now fixed on his lips as he gets to his feet.
âAnd say no, obviously. Please. Just⊠Iâd like to wash my hair.â You drop your eyes then â maybe itâll be easier if you talk to your feet rather staring into his kind eyes?
"Right."
âAnd Iâd⊠You know, Iâd go to a salon and get it done there if we werenât⊠here.â
âYouâd like me to help you wash your hair?â Thereâs a tone of amusement or maybe disbelief in his tone.
Hearing him say it aloud makes you doubt the entire exercise, your heart begin to pound at your stupidity. âSorry. No, I donât know what I was thinking. It was stupid to ask-â
âHey, no, it makes sense.â He soothes, immediately wanting to ease your frustrations. âYou canât lift your arm above your head, right? My fault for not thinking about that.â
You look up then, seeing the sincerity on his face â like it truly was his fault that you couldnât wash your own damn hair.
âI can do that, Dove. I donât see why not.â
âAre you sure?â
âMm-hm. As you said, if you were anywhere else right now, you could go to a salon and whilst I canât promise their quality, I seem to do all right with my own.â He shrugs. âYou thinking over the sink?â
He doesnât know why he asks â itâs hardly like youâre going to ask him to get in the shower with you.
Is it?
âI think so.â You look around the living area, though youâre well acquainted with what feels like every square inch of it now. âThough it might be a little awkward since we donât have any chairs.â
He snaps his fingers. âNah, there might be one in the garage, actually. Lemme check.â
He barely makes it into the garage when his cell vibrates in his pocket â one new message from Hunnigan.
Any server information for me?
Leon finds the folding chair nestled at the side of the washer and dryer and hesitates over the text back.
Heâll wash your hair â seeing how torn up youâd been about even asking him had made him feel awful - then heâll give you the updates and ask about the servers.
He picks up the chair and tucks it under one arm, swiftly typing out a message on his cell and clicks send.
Not yet â Doveâs still asleep.

And We're Back
Sorry for the hiatus and self-nuke, let's get down to business.
1.) Minors DNI, anyone who DMs me about anything related to minors/high school students/etc will be blocked.
2.) Do not try to bang me. I will not send you photos. Attempt to flirt with me, send me dick pics, or ask for photos will result in a block.
3.) I do not RP, but I like discussing fantasies in DM, on my own time.
Edit: If you wish to discuss fantasies, please make sure it's a good fit for me based on the content I make. If you want to discuss Furry Porn or overly elaborate male humiliation kinks/cucking please read the room. I beg you. I discuss the topics I post, if you aggressively try to DM me about stuff I have no interest in I might end up blocking you. No hard feelings. Topics I cover: BE, WG, Pregnancy, Detrans, Trans Girl WG, Body Modification, Breast Reduction/Destruction, Free Use, Bimbo, Age Progression, etc etc. The general theme is women are the subjects of the fantasy, undergoing bodily alterations for better or, often, for worse.
4.) I do not take requests, but I do take suggestions. You can suggest me content in my asks or DMs and if you're lucky, I just might make it.
5.) If you have concerns about my content or I have used your photo in a caption and you want it removed, let me know.
Edit: None of the images in my pictures are original works, most are copies of a copy of a copy; the transformative aspect of my blog is my writing, not the images, which are all everywhere online, repeated by thousands of accounts (and never meant to be representative of the actual people in said images). Don't want your image or video in one of my captions? I will delete it immediately. No problem. If you are the creator of the image/morph/video and like my work, DM me and I will linky you in the text of the caption!
Note: I do not consider AI works original, even if there is a watermark I missed. AI art is stolen from images of real creators and people, regurgitated and repurposed. It is NOT original material, even if you make money on it. If I can buy the same software and tell it the same prompts and create an image identical to yours, but 'original' you have not created a work worth protecting. Art is made by human hands; AI art is best used to supplement human creations. I will not take claims of stolen AI art seriously, you will be blocked.
6.) Have fun.
This is a dark erotica blog where sexual fantasy is expressed through hopefully cathartic parodies of our modern world, its corrupt policies and the people who fund them, with a healthy dose of sass. I do not condone anything I write about in any fashion, it's purely to release that primal frustration of wanting to indulge taboo kinks while not wanting to support the abhorrent ghouls who'd unironically yearn for the sort of topics my erotica touches on. Fantasy should be in good fun, never consume content that gives you harmful thoughts or makes you in any way unhappy.
